see, like, sometimes i see bsd fans commenting about how it's weird for asagiri to make the tanizaki siblings incestuous or the whole lolicon gag with mori and elise but the thing is both of those things are based on the real life tanizaki junichiro and mori ougai's works

naomi is, of course, based on the novel naomi, a story about a man who groomed a young girl into a westernized woman and it ends up with her turning the table by dominating his life. which is why the junichiro in the manga is unable to say no to his sister. while the irl work is mostly a commentary about the cultural change in taisho period, the siblings in the manga focuses on the unhealthy relationship of the protagonist jouji and naomi. you might find it disgusting and that's okay. but the character dazai is also created based on the real dazai osamu's uncomfortable depiction of humanity's ugliness. it just doesn't make sense to allow one depiction but not the other.

elise is named after the love interest in the dancing girl, but the power that creates her is named after the real mori ougai's erotic novel that is secretly about his own sexual experiences. you can argue that there is no need for elise to be a child because the character in the dancing girl isn't one, and vita sexualis itself is more about the author-slash-protagonist's struggle with having sexual desires in a society that champions moral purity.

but the thing is elise isn't even a fanservice character. she isn't depicted as someone the audience should find desirable for one. when it comes to lolicon fanservice you can expect either excessive depiction of innocence or at the very least elise getting jealous when mori gives attention to someone else. but even her mocking is just that, mocking. we were never shown her returning mori's affection even in a tsundere way.

the biggest hint is actually the fact that in beast au, a timeline where mori gives up his position as the mafia boss, elise is an adult. it shows that the child form of elise is symbolic of mori's desire to control those with the power he wants to obtain i.e. dazai and yosano. it's so much easier to gain power over other when they're a child and you're the authority figure, after all. so when he no longer chases after that ambition, elise becomes an adult.

tldr; asagiri didn't necessarily make tanizaki siblings and elise for the sake of fanservice but it's definitely because he actually pays attention to the literature that inspires him

Naomi is infinitely more eligible for being a full-time member of the ADA than Jun'ichirou is, not just because she has far better deduction skills than he does, but because passes the entrance exam criteria a lot easier. Jun'ichirou's morality is shaky at best, whereas Naomi has displayed more empathy and desire to save people than quite literally everyone else in the Agency, sans Fukuzawa, ft. "Atsushi can save his own life, we have to prioritize this escort case over an urgent rescue mission". Simply put, although Jun'ichirou is better aligned with the Port Mafia, Naomi is genuinely suited to the ADA.

BSD character’s reactions to screwing up they’re first date with you ( T_T)＼(^-^ )

Includes (most) the ada and port mafia <3

they’ll be pretty short since it’s a lot of characters :P (these exclude kyoka, Q and lemon thing aka kajii)

Fukuzawa 🗡

he’s probably slightly embarrassed but knowing him I’m sure it wasn’t too bad of a screw up

in fact it was probably a minor embarrassing moment that happened

it was silence for a split second before you two changed subjects from what happened

the date went pretty smoothly after that

the typa detail that gets left out when you talk about how the date went

Ranpo 👓

he’ll probably realize what’s gonna happen to ruin the date before it does, and either act to make sure it doesn’t

or smoothly addresses it and moves on

just cuz he’s like that 😎🤷‍♀️ (LOL)

but if something he doesn’t predict happens that crashes your date he’ll be pretty butt hurt

like? How come the worlds greatest detective didn’t see through this??

you likely end up assuring him it’s fine and continue the date

he sulks and eats snacks when he gets home

your probability of still going on the next date anyway is 89% but he’s still mad that happened

she will be pretty bummed out and will starting drinking wine mid date

she’s not sulking or anything but if like where y’all was gonna go is booked/closed you end up just going to some open public area and talking

about how this sucks, what you’ll do next date, if you can do something last minute, that you both doubt you’ll try and go there for a date again and eventually to lighter topics like your hobbies n such

but yeah the date decently recovers

which actually goes really well!

thankfully it ended in his favor but he’s still gonna spend everyday of his like repenting his first date

made it just as fun as the original activity was gonna be

he even went out of his way to buy some new clothes 😞

although he’s practically hyperventilating over whether you’ll ghost him or not since he screwed it up

or maybe if it’s not that drastic he’ll just apologize and try to direct the conversation else where

is really embarrassed for 3 hot secs before she collects herself, sighing

she likely planned this date and told you not to worry about it because things like this wasn’t so supposed to happen

luckily for her she switched from her original idea to something else, so now that that hasn’t worked out she can go back

from there the date returns to smooth sailing

she spoils you and tries to get you forget as much as possible

she especially doesn’t want that getting on her reputation if you work at the PM as well

really irritated and swears under his breath while facing away from you

tries to make it look like he has it under control but he’s kinda freaking out

In the end he can’t think of anything and ends up muttering an apologizing before suggesting to go get some wine together

she is a lover who wants to do everything for the one she loves

so finally landing a date with you and blowing it is like her whole world exploding 💥

she becomes frantic in apologizing asking how to make it up to you

even if it was just a minor thing

if she can turn things around she still feels successful but makes precautions not to let that happen again

if not she’s totally bawling her eyes out to gin about it

gets a bit flustered and sheepishly looks at you to see if it bothered you

his reaction depends on yours

if you start complaining about how much of a bummer it is he’ll start to feel bad

Akutagawa🧥

he probably awkwardly stands there from there

if your response is too negative he’ll apologize for wasting your time and offer to drive you home

he will likely hesitate before asking you on a date again and makes sure everything is perfect this time

”curse the weretiger” (you hear him mumble this like it’s a swear word before you close the door to your house)

If you don’t mind as much you two will probably just end up chatting somewhere

it ends with him apologizing anyway

(say you enjoyed talking with him and you might be met with wide eyes and a little blush on his face <3)

Gin☺️

blushes, stammers and apologizes like crazy

she feels really ashamed since this is your first date and something went wrong

she covers her mouth with her hand to sort of “hide” out of embarrassment

she even took off her mask and dressed up all cute for you!! :(

luckily! She brought you a gift !

you ended up really liking it and you hugged her for it, which made her feel a bit better

you ask to return the favor by buying her something too

she insists you don’t have to but you end up doing it anyway

you wrap your arm around each other’s waist while you walk which was pretty romantic :)

you kiss her atop her forehead before separating to head home

(if your not in the PM or can’t physically hand yourself—she probably follows you home from a distance, BUT NOT IN A CREEPY WAY. In a ‘she wants to know your home safe’ loving way)

she squeals when she gets home and tells ryuunosuke about the highs and lows of your date 💗

yes as I said pretty short but these were mostly a trial run for fun :)

Meh I got bored...

Dazai: *has completed all his work (surprisingly) but is staring off into space*

Junichiro: Dazai? You good?

Dazai: just trying to figure out what to get somebody for valentines...

Naomi: flowers and chocolate!

Kenji: cards always work...

Kunikida: they definitely will appreciate those, Dazai

Yosano: *knowing who he's thinking about* just get them a hat and Wine *whispers to Dazai*

Dazai: *whispers back* don't worry I have a plan

Later(Day 1)

Dazai: Hey Sluggy!!

Chuuya: Whaaaaaaaat

Dazai: I have something for you

Chuuya: *now attentive* really?!

Dazai: *hands Chuuya a card*

Chuuya: .... Thanks? *he reads it* what do you want...?

Dazai: nothing also here.. *he hands him flowers*

Chuuya: they're lovely..

The card was put somewhere to be forgotten and the flowers where put in the center of the dining table

Day 2

Dazai: Sluggy dearest

Chuuya: I swear if it's more flowers and another car-

Dazai: *holding two boxes* I did not think this through... Well I got you your favorite chocolate and another one of those ugly things you keep on your head

Chuuya: ... I don't want chocolate but thank you

Chuuya did in fact eat the chocolate at some point that day the hat was put in his collection after crying for 30 minutes cause he did not think dazai would actually get it for him

Day 3 and final day

Dazai: CHIBI!

Chuuya: Mackerel!

Dazai: hello I got you your favorite wine!

Chuuya: *now really happy* OMG THANKS SO MUCH DAZAI!!

Dazai: your welcome

Chuuya: *dragging dazai* follow me

After the incident at the mall, Chuuya have been often around you, despite you wanted to be around Gin or Hirotsu or even Tachihara or seems and the fact Mori often let you and Elise to dress doesn't make you happy.

Though.. Elise only dress if you are with her of sort which make you more a victim to hang out with her of sort.

"Chu-chu-niisan"

"Yes y/n, what is it?" Asked Chuuya who lean to your level as you fiddle with your fingers slightly pouting.

"Where are we going?"

"Ne? Chu-chu-niisan, who is Ane-san?"

"She is like my elder sister, she eventually went for mission some days earlier, today she just arrive" said Chuuya who have a visible smile on his lips as you tilted your head curiously.

There you saw beautiful women with red hair as she was busy watering the flower as her eyes flicker onto you and Chuuya.

"Hmm? Who is this young boy, you have?"

As you hide behind Chuuya who let out a soft chuckle as The women approach you.

She kneel onto your level as she gently smile at you.

"What's your name?" She asked as her gaze was warm which make your anxiety disappear as your eyes twinkle.

"What a cute name for a cute boy" she said as she pat your head making you blush in embarrassment, her gentle aura and warmness truly remind you of your mother warmness.

Chuuya smile at the fact you get along with Ane-san.

"Oh.. And how are you here in Yokohama?" Asked Kouyou as Chuuya was taken aback that you spoke about yourself after days on staying in port mafia.

"I was lost in the carnival.. Then I met Mr.Whitey hair!"

"He is from the.. Agency I think? He and one found me.."

As Kouyou glance up at Chuuya who to kneel onto your level.

"How.. Many days have you been in.. Agency?" Asked Chuuya as he try to confirm a particular event that took place in Shinjuku.

"Since I'm.. 11 years old.. About .. When I was nine years!"

"So.. You have been in agency.. For two years?"

"Hmm mmh! They told me they would find my parents.. "

"Did your..parents came to take you?"

"Yes! But.. But.. The others in agency said.. They left me in their care.. I don't want to believe it.." You muttered while holding tightly onto Chuuya hand who frowned a bit.

"..say will you believe us if we find your parents and ask you why they left you?" Asked Kouyou as your eyes widen.

"Y-you will a-ask them?"

"Yes"

"Ane-san"

Kouyou just smile as Chuuya was unsure as you happily hug her which she chuckle at your enthusiasmically smiling and hugging her happily.

"Thank you so much! Ane-san!"

She chuckle as she patted your head while your face was on her stomach side as you couldn't see her dark smile at Chuuya who silently nod.

"What do you mean he is in Port mafia?!" Shouted Dazai alarming the others as Ranpo frowned. "This is bad if they already know his ability" said Yosano frowning as she was as hell going to break every fingers of Mori if he lay a single hand on you or either traumatized you.

"We will have to get him back!"

"Yeah!"

"Wait"

As they all glance at the president who look stern and serious like he always do, but his eyes were more narrowed.

"We can't just wage war against port mafia."

"B-but!"

"President is correct.. We have to get y/n safely" said Kunikida as Kyouka frown as she was held back by Atsushi who told her not to be reckless.

"Either that or.. We have to make y/n trust us more" said Ranpo as they all blink confused of what he meant.

"Because .. I get a feeling that.. They are going to use his parents against us"

"Y/n parents? But didn't we already deal with them? I doubt they would utter a word" said Jun'chiro as he recall their terrified expression as Fukuzawa shook his head slightly.

"The port mafia have their own ways.. And we all know how they are.. Especially dealing with.. Children" said Yosano as Kyouka clench on her dress as she frown.

Perhaps they may have manipulate you? Or make you kill someone with your ability? There were many possibility as they can't make a wrong mistakes.

"We might need to talk this out.. Professionally" said Fukuzawa as Ranpo frown, while Kunikida and the others try to argue with.. Atsushi who was frowning and feel like blaming himself for leaving you even for a minute in the aquarium..

As you call him your elder brother yet, he failed.. Atsushi mind of thoughts held as Dazai spoke out.

"There might be possibility that y/n parents will be kill.."

They didn't want to see you so, horrified yet.. For some twisted pleasure they are pleased to see your reactions as Mori patted your head who flinch yet, never moved your eyes from the dead body.

"How cruel of them.. To have murdered your parents.." Said Kouyou as she brought you to a hug as you stood frozen.

"Considering the fact that.. They suddenly left.. Or perhaps more likely.. They were killed.. " muttered Elise who hold your hand as Kouyou let go of the hug as you approach the dead body with tear stricken face.

"Mama.. Papa ..."

"..."

"We should give him some time.." Said Mori as he left. So, did Kouyou who told Akutagawa to stay back which alarmed Chuuya who was going to stay.

"B-but ane-san"

"Don't worry.. I think Akutagawa will handle this much better.."

Chuuya hesistantly left as Akutagawa was very much confused as he approach you who hold onto your dead mother hand.

He kneel down onto your level as you let yourself cry.

"You shouldn't let the grief take over you.. As it shows your weakness"

"...but.. Mama.. And.. Papa.. They"

As Akutagawa glare at you making you flinch as he glance at the dead body then at you.

"They won't come back alive even if you cry for them so, wipe that tears of yours!"

"..." As you nod while been scarred of him slightly as his anger face make you want to cry more.

"Wh-what shall I do.. Mama.. And papa.. They..*hic*" as you stopped yourself from crying when you felt a hand on top of your head as you glance at Akutagawa who wasn't looking at you.

"Make it a goal to fight against the world.. They killed of your parents.. So they should pay.." He said as he glance at you with serious face as he was about to let go of patting your head, you firmly nod and tremble hands hold onto his hand that was on top of your head.

He was alarmed but you smile gently.

"Your hands are warm, Ryou-oniisan!"

"Oniisan?"

"Hmm mmh! Can I call you that?"

"..." He hesistantly nod as your smile brightens while chuckling.

"Yay! Ryou-oniisan accepted me as his younger brother!"

He blink twice confused yet nod while keeping a stoic face as you smile brightly. Until..

His eyes widen a bit as you fall onto him asleep as he sighed while pat your head.

Maybe.. the toll on the lost finally took over you.

Yet, he smile a bit as he oath to himself to protect you, like how.. An older brother shall do.

atsushi learns to take care of long hair via kyouka - he's watched her do her hair and has helped her do it enough that he's pretty okay with it now

one day, kunikida's hair just keeps on slipping out of his pony tail and atsushi, noticing his frustrations, offers to brush it and tie it for him

he enjoys doing kyouka's hair, dont get me wrong, but he thought it was just a kyouka only thing - after all how could atsushi not want to do things for kyouka who was like a sister and who deserved help or assistance in small things if she so asked - atsushi didn't realize how much he was doing it to show his own affection for her

he finds as he's brushing hair, that its just a way he's been showing kyouka he likes her and now w/ kunikida

anyway atsushi ends up braiding kuni's hair while he's working, and is buzzing with this newfound understanding of another way he can show affection

the next day yosano asks atsushi if he could tie up her hair and even ranpo lets him brush it back once

slowly atsushi works his way through everyone in the agency

other than dazai

atsushi offers his services to dazai too

but dazai always refuses - he jokes about atsushi only not doing his hair and when atsushi says he will, dazai gets weirdly quiet and changes the topic after a minute

anyway

atsushi does end up doing dazai's hair, not just brushing, but washing and drying and pushing it out of his face, but its on one of those weeks where dazai cant bring himself to even get out of bed and atsushi decides to take care of him instead

Ok random headcanons <3

since Sigma ran Sky Casino he was really good at dealing and shuffling and nifty tricks like that so back at the agency he does his fancy card tricks and shuffles to entertain them.

Everyone, especially Kyouka, Kenji, Ranpo, Atsushi, Junichiro and Naomi are completely spellbound by him and watch his moves like ✨o✨

As a side hustle he gets his nails done in very cute whimsical styles and runs a YouTube channel where he does like card shuffling asmr or something and it’s moderately successful because he has beautiful hands and some people are way into that.

He is also their guy when then agency and mafia have like game nights and feel like gambling a little.

Yosano and Kouyou are making very sexually charged eye contact and everyone around the table is just like 👀

“they’re either going to be at each other’s throats or someone’s waking up in the other’s bed tomorrow” Dazai says and Chuuya nods.

They’re both a little scared.

Kunikida is sitting awkwardly with Kajii who’s trying to convince him to bomb the place and run away with the money.

Fitzgerald, Mori, Fyodor and Fukuzawa are at the big bois table, engaging in big brain high stakes gambling, because they can, and they mean business.

Fukuzawa does not want to be there, he’s not that kinda guy, his boyfriend made him do this, and is internally panicking.

He is winning.

The kids are somewhere else having a game night of their own. Atsushi, Lucy and Akutagawa are playing Mario Kart and are at each other’s throats constantly.

Steinbeck is teaching Kenji, Kyouka and Kyusaku how to play Stardew Valley.

Tachihara, Higuchi, Gin and Mark are playing COD.

Junichiro, Naomi, Louisa, Edgar, Ranpo, Margaret and Nathaniel are playing monopoly.

Ed is in jail.

Hirotsu, Oda and Ango Are Babysitting them.
