I was listening to Dungeons and Daddies while I drew this so I made all the dads sign my cast.

[Image ID: someone barefoot wearing a blue cast with names and messages written all over it. Some of the messages are:
Get well soon.
Do better next time.
Nice going bird bones.
When I said break a leg this isn't what I meant.
You're doing O. A. K.
Skill issue.

My new favourite thing is saying 'consider your legs broken' to theatre kids after they do well in a performance

Nico: Or as they say in the theater; fracture a femur!
Will: What?
Nico: I mean, break a leg or whatever

Break a Leg || Junis
@junipergrimaldi
Chris was glad that previews existed, because most of his nerves about performing live had been taken care of then. He was ready, he was passionate about his role, he had rehearsed it to perfection, he had done everything possible to take care of himself and his voice.
Was he a little nervous about the reviews? Of course, he didn’t want people to think that he wasn’t cut out for Broadway. But he was more excited to have the opening night audience, for the red carpet and afterparty, to get to celebrate everything that he and the cast and crew had done.
As their car arrived at the end of the carpet, Chris smiled - it was still a few hours to showtime, plenty of time to get ready, warm up, get his makeup finished. “You know, you’re getting really good at this,” Chris said as he gave Juni’s hand a squeeze, “do you feel like spending awhile on the red carpet, or as little as possible tonight? Or has Thumper not decided for you yet?”

I attended a production of The Wizard of Oz last night at a small community theater where I've worked a couple shows. It was good to see some friends I haven't connected with recently. Planning to go out on a Friday night is always a gamble. Will I have the emotional energy and social bandwidth after a full week of grinding? I decided to skip group dinner before, a compromise after a reasonably chill work week.
if you've been here for awhile you might guess I am getting itchy to be creating again. This show pushed me over the edge and I found myself committing to the next one over Intermission. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. A small cast, with all the major jobs filled. I get to sit, observe, and be of some small service on this one. A perfect way to contribute without stressing myself the Hell out
But back to the Wizard. It was a musical, based on a production and script by The Royal Shakespeare Company. The casting, costumes and puppets, both hand and life-size, were enchanting. The way they managed scenery and set changes was inventive, using a projector and gels. So charming and exactly what you hope for when you make Theater. The ensemble shone, and you could tell everyone was having fun.
It's time for a bit of magic. It's been too long.

*When idioms go horribly wrong in the Court of Darkness/Saligia Universe*
MC: Toa, you’ll do great tonight. Break a leg!
Toa: …
Toa: Excuse me?
Guy: That can be arranged.
MC: Guy, no!

today is a note for theatre people. But also a note to myself.
you got this, break a leg. Let the spirit of Thespis shine upon you. My Dionysus smile at the way you move on stage, or at your backstage work.
