I will never get over Gale’s stupid ass thinking that Finnick wanted Katniss at the beginning of Mockingjay, when the entire time that man was breaking down and longing for Annie. Like the whole reason Katniss and Finnick became close friends was their joined love and longing for Peeta and Annie who were both imprisoned in the capital together.

Hi! I fully do not understand investing, but I’m going to follow the directions you and others give about IRA investments. The one thing that I totally do not grasp is the allocating the funs into an index. Isnt there a scenerio where the index loses money and by retirement age you check it out and it went completely under or something?
Hey kiddo! And welcome to the wide world of investing. You're on the right track by starting an IRA for your retirement.
Yes, there are people who lose money by investing their retirement fund. This happens when they retire at the same time a recession or stock market crash happens. And it's fucking unlucky timing.
If you invest $100, and the market falls to the point that it's worth $80, you will lose money if you pull your money out when it's worth $80. But after the fall, when the market recovers so your original investment is worth $120, and THEN you pull your money out... you will have made money!
In other words, timing matters. We explain exactly how this works here:
Wait... Did I Just Lose All My Money Investing in the Stock Market?
Now to address the second part of your question. You can avoid the risk of losing money by regularly adjusting your allocation. When you're young and many years from retirement, you can allocate your portfolio aggressively into higher-risk investments. Who cares if you lose money in the short term? As we explain in the link above, you don't actually LOSE the money until you take the money out of the stock market.
But as you get older and nearer to retirement, you want to lock in your gains by moving your money from high-risk investments like stocks to safer investments like bonds. That way when you get within a few years of retirement, you can kind of "protect" your investments from being overly affected by market fluctuations.
In other words: allocation is not a one-time activity. We explain this more here:
Investing Deathmatch: Stocks vs. Bonds
This was a big oversimplification, but we go into detail about all of this here:

Not only did Suzanne Collins deny us a prequel and sequel to Gregor the Overlander but she also denied us the fuck you brothers ares and Gregor the most unhinged Mfers in the whole underland. If given time the two of them would learn the most out of pocket whack ass fighting techniques, like falcon punching bitches while jumping off ares back, zig zag maneuvers, tucking and rolling and just bowling opponents down etc etc
Ares is the Kaz brekker of the TUC universe and Gregor isn’t his Inej, no no no, he’s his Jesper, egging him on, loling in the background as ares rips out a dudes throat. Need I remind you ares is the MOST HATED BAT IN THE UNDERLAND AND REQUIRED A FUCKING PRINCE’S PROTECTION FROM THE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES OF REGALIA/BAT/UNDERLAND RULES THAT HE BROKE (seriously Suzanne what did he do the people need to know)
Ares 100% lied to Gregor when he said he hadn’t killed anyone before, ares is fucking double the size of a normal underland bat, with all the rage of a chihuahua. He totally mocked rats/spinners/ everyone and would 100000000% rip their fucking eyeballs out while laughing if they were to mock him back. Ares is unhinged and so is Gregor and we were robbed.
In this essay I will…

Do you think Vulcans ever experience a moment where they miss someone or want to check up on them and mentally reach for them only to remember they don’t have a bond with that person and will have to physically communicate with them in some other way?

🌙 lore: bonds and truemates
bonds
Bonds are essential for people’s health & well-being. While it is possible for an adult to survive without any, it leaves people weaker and more susceptible to illness. It’s harder to generate body heat, & can leave a person feeling numb or depressed.
Pups, especially those under twelve, don’t tend to survive long without bonds, often succumbing to illness.
There are four types of bonds.
Packbond. A packbond is a surface level bond that allows you to sense your packs emotions & well-being as long as you’re in range. Pack size determines range—the larger the pack, the larger the range. It’s formed by licking over & nipping the scent gland.
Imprint bond. Imprinting is very similar to a packbond, with the main difference being it appears instantaneously. It is most common in parents and pups, usually occurring at birth—but sometimes a packless puppy will imprint on an adult. Siblings also have imprint bonds.
Matebond. A matebond is a deeper bond, which allows you to sense your mate’s emotions & well-being over a slightly larger range. Matebonds are formed by a bite, hard enough to draw blood. It must be done with the second set of fangs, formed during presentation. It will scar.
Truemate bond. The easiest and most obvious way to know if you’re someone’s truemate. A truebond allows you to not only sense emotions and their well-being—it also allows a pair to share thoughts, though this can take practice. It’s formed the same way as a mating bond.
A bond can be muffled or blocked temporarily if a person doesn’t want their pack or mate to know how they’re feeling. It is difficult to maintain a block without practice. Pups find it nearly impossible.
Bonds can fade over time, and need occasional re-affirming. This is done through scenting, and/or skin-to-skin contact.
It is possible to force a pack- or matebond on someone else. It’s considered a crime to do so in the modern-era, but some areas allow the bond to be consented to by other packmembers.
Bonds can be broken, either purposefully or through death. Omegas have the easiest time doing so, as they tend to be most in tune with their bonds. However, doing so is painful for both sides, and can send a person into a drop or feral state. It also leaves behind a craving for touch, body aches, and sometimes fatigue or fever. Bonds which are allowed to fade don’t leave behind as intense of symptoms, but they’re still present. Having other packbonds to rely on can lessen the intensity.
If a mating bond is broken, the scar will fade, but never fully disappear.
truemates
Truemates are rare. Some people believe that everyone has a truemate, but the world is so large it’s hard to find them. Now that the world is “growing smaller”, so to speak, it’s more likely that there will be an increase in truemates. While it is true there are more than there once were, it’s still very rare.
Truemates are also very difficult to spot, which contributes to their rarity. Some people don’t even believe in them, creating bias.
There are several signs of a truemate. Other than the first sign, all other signs of a truemate can’t be detected until both pairs hormones have leveled out. (Usually between 17-22.)
First, the smell. Your truemate will have a very appealing smell—moreso than any other person’s smell. It can bring with it a feeling of safety, as well. This isn’t an immediate flag, though, as it’s not unusual to meet someone whose smell you like over another.
Second, smelling them around a season will trigger a fertile cycle—and will until a bonding. If someone already has a mate, or romantic partner, though, this can be easy to miss—as their scent can also trigger a fertile cycle.
Third, they have a very calming influence. Their scent, their voice, their sounds—all of them can help ease their truemate out of panic, rage, etc.
Fourth, their bond. This is the most definitive and obvious sign of a truemate, though, of course, it can only be discovered after a romantic relationship has been cultivated. (Save, I suppose, for an arranged mating ceremony.)
