have you ever come close to death?
it feels a lot like coming home.
sinking deep into the embrace of the only mother I have ever known,
joining my brothers down on the bed.
there are so many of them and they call to me.
their song is clear and honest through the murky water.
and for a moment I stop
struggling. and consider it. this could be my exit.
it is warm here deep beneath the surface and it is dark.
it's safe.
I am stuck in the ladder I could not stop trying to climb
brought down by my arrogance and my hubris
who was I to think I could outwit him? that I would survive?
but I heard a voice from somewhere down beyond the light end
a brother perhaps. a warning.
"GET OUT"
Silver??? 👀

I am afraid to touch
what light breaks through your curtains
we are standing on either side of a desk
and there are leagues and leagues between us
it's difficult to stay by your side
but even harder to take my leave
beautiful

Going back through my VERY old manuscript of unpublished poetry, today, this one hit me like a plank in the face.
Oh, it’s HIM.
He can’t help but to love. He see’s it all coming. And yet he chooses to love, because he knows no other way to be.

Miracle of the Black Leg, Natasha Trethewey
[Image ID: 4 de-saturated photos from Black Sails overlain with text. The first photo shows Max looking down sadly in a dark cave behind a metal scale. The second shows Vane looking down as Albinus pulls away his shirt collar to reveal his brand. The third shows a close-up on Anne as she lies on her side in Max's bed, wrapped in a sheet. The fourth shows Flint sitting at a table in the tavern, gazing sadly at his copy of Meditations on the table. The text reads, "What knowledge haunts each body, what history, what phantom ache." end ID]
