It never fails to piss me of when people say Black Sails 'isn't gay enough'
like you know you're only saying that because you expect gay to mean 'two attractive men romancing each other'
The first two episodes of the WHOLE SHOW feature a messy AF breakup between two women, one of whom goes on to have another poly queer relationship. beyond that the whole underlying theme of the show is aggressively about queerness, about those who are rejected from society and must find a way to find a safe haven outside of it- and how that haven is often then treated like a threat to society and targeted because of it.
if you try and act like Black Sails isn't queer before 2.05, then be honest about why and what you actually qualify as 'gay enough' for you. Black Sails is a layered thematically queer narrative with a variety of characters in different stages of their queer expression. open yourself up to queer narratives that are not just romances
Black Sails is queer, but it is not about queer romance, its about queer rage

On this Pride Month I would just like to say that Black Sails really made all of its four seasons and 38 episodes into an expression of gay rage against homophobic brutality and the unbearable loss of love, especially in that tragic context, and that’s still one of the most breathtaking things that any TV show has done, ever.
