You know what would be very helpful? A tutorial for (black) women on the different buzz cut options.
I've shaved my head at least 3x by 3 different barbers, and my favorite was with a female barber.
However, I never knew how to explain the type of buzz cut that I wanted. I didn't want it shaved completely, I still wanted some texture with a buzzed aesthetic.
So, I was 'today years old' when I discovered a YouTube video of a woman, who was shaving her own head with a set of #6, #5, #4, #3, & #2 clippers. The woman, who had a thick head of loose black curls, started off with bra strap length hair, and with each set of clippers, she showed how short each clipper would take similar short hair. I was amazed. I've sat in a barber chair, and watched each barber switch out clippers, never fully understanding what length each clipper would take my hair.
Through this woman, I learned that if I start off with long hair, my ideal aesthetic would be the #3 clipper, which is 3/8ths of an inch; it's a long buzz cut that allows for a lot of texture and femininity. However, since my hair is currently short (& the perfect length), I know that 4-6 weeks from now, I need to tell my barber that I want my hair to be 1/4 of an inch, and that I want him to use a #2 clipper.
I'm linking the video below just in case any woman needs a tutorial on the different types of clippers that will give you your desired buzz cut aesthetic.

Black brothers & hair
First of all, Regulus and Sirius would have NO idea how to take care of their hair.
Second of all, both Slytherin and Gryffindor girls would NOT idly stand by and let them kill their hair.
Thus:
Lily, Mary and Marlene would help Sirius take proper care of his luscious locks. They didn't even have to make him. HE came to THEM for advice cause he was tired of his hair getting tangled constantly (it was because they were dry as a straw). Mary was the one who taught him how to take care of locks, Lily gave him a list of muggle hair products ("no Sirius, you can't just spell your hair clean IT DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT") and Marlene would teach him how to make all kinds of fancy hairstyles.
Then they took care of the rest of the Marauders (they needed it).
Dorcas and Pandora took care of Regulus. He didn't even want that. But when they noticed that he kinda started to grow his hair out and in what condition they were... the intervention was necessary. By that they also got him to open up emotionally a little and take care of himself in general.
They didn't even try to drag Barty and Evan into this, their hair is DEAD.
Since then, both Black brothers started to take a damn good care of their hair. And when one of them would neglect them, it was a sign that something was really wrong, making their friends spring into action immediately.

it is absolutely nuts how dramatically my hair chemistry has changed in the last 16 months. used to be that I could hardly use any product at all without weighing it down— now pretty much everything I use on it I get from Black haircare brands (the heavier/more moisturizing end of the lines to boot) and it's wonderfully soft without being greasy/sticky + the pattern is much more regular

Protective styles!
braids! braids! braids!
My top 3 styles personally!
scalp braids aka corn rows
twists (look so gorg when you untwist them).
Braids! (I love knotless but I only get them occasionally, box braids are go 2!
HAIRCARE!!
Pre shampooing to detangle easier, also separating hair into sections could help.
1. Find a hair regimen!
2. LCO (liquid,cream,oil) LOC (liquid,oil,cream)
3. Find out your hair porosity , LOW MED HIGH!
4. HAIRCARE products ( now it depends what you know for your hair! It takes time to figure it out. Everyone is different!
Shampoos and conditioners with no parabens, sulfates, alcohol or any harsh chemicals that could dry out your hair!
5. Take care of your hair how you would take care of your phone, computer, pet!
remember to be consistent, you might have bad hair days or good ones! Just love and cherish your crown because at the end of the day it’s on your head.
Tumblr media
THE FUN PART!!
I love love love doing my edges and doing cute little swirls and swooshes ૮꒰⸝⸝> <⸝⸝꒱ა
1. Get a edge control that suits your hair, as someone who is prone to breakout near my forehead! Get an unscented edge control that’s a thick consistency
2. Edge brush! Practice using it and I promise it’ll get easier and easier!
3. Life hack! I wash mine with a little water after letting the gel dry! (It doesn’t turn white or lift.

2. Coconut
3. Black castor
Top greases
1. Sulfur medicated grease
2. Blue magic
3. Doo gro
4. Wild growth
Natural coconut oil I love because of it’s many benefits. These are my favs but you can find whatever works for you!
