Miraculous LadyBug Fics
This is a list of Miraculous Ladybug fics I like on AO3, if you have any recs for me feel free to send me some!
Fair warning his is mostly going to be Felix/Marinette and Damian Wayne/Marinette.
Updated 5/15/24
Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Felix Graham De Vanily
Hey, Little Songbird by charlietheepic7
~Really, Felix couldn't believe his cousin sometimes. Marinette was talented, beautiful, kind, and had a crush on Adrien bigger than the mansion, yet Adrien was blind to the treasure right in front of him. "Just a friend," indeed.
Well, if Adrien wasn't going to do anything, it wouldn't matter if Felix... snatched her up?~
Welcome To The Back by Geeeny
~Marinette Dupain-Cheng sits alone in the back. Until she doesn't.~
birds of a feather by WithLovePoohBear
~When Mme Bustier’s class gets a new student, Marinette might just finally find true friends who love and support her for who she is.
But more accurately, she finds her home.~
Pen Pals by That_Kwami_plagg
~Marinette and Felix have been Pen Pals for two years. She tells him everything. All of the abuse, lies and manipulations. He became her sanctuary, and her his. What happens when Felix moves to France? Can he help her through her struggles, or will he be another victim of Lila?~
Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Damian Wayne
She’s Sunshine, She’s Grace, She’ll Punch You in the Face by Brinxiethebear
~Marinette struggles to stay happy nowadays but what better way to change your mood than with a change of location? Adrien gave up his miraculous so he could start fresh. After all, his dad was in prison for being the super villain Hawkmoth and his other caretaker Nathalie died from over use of a broken Miraculous. So now Marinette is the guardian of the miraculous. ~
for us to collide by LadyLiterature
~The story of Marinette stumbling upon the illustrious Wayne family over and over again, as well as the more infamous Bats, over the course of her many visits to Gotham. She, of course, charms the whole lot of them and finds that the same is true in the reverse.~
A Robin and His Lady by ProudGeek4Ever
~Marinette lost her friends to Lila, Adrien was long forgotten and Chat Noir kept getting more irresponsible. Being a teenage superhero was stressfull, but Marinette's life takes a turn for the better when a chance meeting in Gotham changes everything. Damian changes everything.~
No, Mr. Wayne, You Can't Adopt Me! by ggomoz (ggomo_springtime)
~Bruce's personal assistant is scarily competent---she seems to know the best decision at each time, predict emergencies, and is an expert at handling all of his children. But what if there's more to her than meets the eye?~
More Than One Secret by Tyshian
~Marinette Dupain-Cheng has Secrets. Damian Wayne has Secrets. The pair together have Secrets.~
Reunions are... interesting if you’re a Todd by crazyjc
~Alright, this is based on laraceleste's Tell Me More where Jason Todd is Marinette’s big brother with one exception—Marinette didn’t know where Jason was after she was adopted until after he died when she was ten. They were apart for three years here, as GCPD got her at 7.~
It's Just Indifference by dontyoublink
~Marinette thought she would just get some inspiration for her designs when she headed to the park. As luck would have it, she also meets four (interesting? unique? slightly insane?) Americans. Frisbee, ice cream, and much-needed conversations ensue.~
World's Greatest Detectives, My Ass by Appleberry84
~Marinette figures out the Batfam's identities and decides to torture them.~
Leave it Behind by ShannonEsmerelda
~Marinette Dupain-Cheng has grown tired of Paris, and the miracle box was no longer safe there. It'd been active in the country for too long, seen too much damage. She needed to find a place for both her and the kwami's to heal, while still having the ability to be a hero. So, why not Gotham? The city had enough crime for both her and the bat family without getting in each others way, right? Right?~
Report to HR by SimplyAnotherWriter
~Look; Bruce liked Marinette. If the girl hadn’t already had loving and adoring parents that had spotless records and nothing incriminating about them whatsoever(Bruce had checked long and hard), he probably would have adopted the girl just like he had the others.
However, things wouldn't remain this perfect if Damian continued to try and mess it up by SCARING the poor girl!~
The Sun Who Lit Up The Night Sky by FandomQueen10325, leaping_lizard_babe
~4 months after the defeat of Hawkmoth, the akuma class wins a trip to Gotham. While they are there, Marinette keeps attracting bad luck, and can never seem to stay out of trouble. The Batfam is very interested when they learn about what had happened in Paris, so they question ladybug.~
Travels of Passion by StarShine583
~When people as famous as the Waynes come to visit your city, the most you'd expect to get from them is a quick little smile. A hand shake if you're in the right place at the right time and extremely lucky. Marinette didn't really expect to get either, and she certainly didn't expect to get what she actually got.~
Of Birds and Bugs (revising and rewriting) by orphan_account
~Marinette was a busy girl. Between her idol work as NeTi, and her duty as Ladybug, it was hard to do everything else, like being a good class president. Still, she was able to pull through.
Somehow, the class get's a trip to Gotham, sponsored by Bruce Wayne himself, and it looked like Marinette would be able to take a break for once.~
Dinner at Wayne Manor by littlefleetinglight for
~In the front hall standing in a line was Bruce, Dick, Jason, Tim and Damien; in that orders, with Alfred standing in front of them like an officer in front of his troops.
“Now, when Ms.Marinette arrives there will be no inappropriate language, no crude gestures or noises, and there will be no interrogation. Do you gentlemen understand?”~
#SunshineOfGotham by sixtyeightdays
~All of Gotham knows Marinette, the Sunshine who's made her way into everyone's hearts. But so what if all of Gotham knows Marinette? Does her class know that they know Marinette? Of course not, why would they! But, well, let's see how they find out.~
Rockin’ the House by littlefleetinglight for
~It was another charity gala held by the Wayne Family; this one was raising funds for art programs across the world, and because it was for art there were artists of all types from all over, including the famous Rock’n’Roll artist Jagged Stone…and his guest.~
To marry an Assassin by PL_Panda
~Marinette wakes up in a cell and later is forced to marry a member of the League of Shadows, who is also less than willing. Exactly what she was pulled in? And of course there is magic involved, so no cancellation. And apparently in Tibet ancient orders can marry minors off just like that. This was definitely not Damian's day. Or Week. Or month. He got married with a random girl...~
Who Needs Words? by AKP31E
~After the defeat of Hawkmoth and the retirement of Suhan, Marinette’s life is just getting crazier. She doesn’t know how a soulmate could ever fit into her life, and sometimes she thinks the two letters on her wrist are just the universe’s joke to her, but she knows better than to bank on it. Her soul mark isn’t even a word. Who is going to say “Tt” to her?~
History Repeats by DesertSnowQueen
~When Kitty Noire makes an appearance in Gotham, she finds herself drawn to a certain little bird whose brothers are far too entertained by this turn of events~
Magical Girl by Judysupremus
~Marinette accidentally portals into the batcave.~
The Power of Luck by FridayFirefly
~The Ladybug Miraculous had quite a few side effects, none more powerful and unpredictable than the power of Miraculous Luck. When Marinette's family relocates to Gotham, Marinette finds her Miraculous Luck leading her down a path she never would have expected, a path that leads straight to Damian Wayne.~
The events on a Saturday Morning by orphan_account
~Marinette and Damian have been in a long distance relationship for over a year with (most) of the Batfamily not knowing at all until a young girl stumbles through a portal on a Saturday morning.~
Friendly Sunshine In Gotham by M1dn1ght_Star
~Marinette is happy to be back in Gotham after a visit with Jagged several years ago. This might just end up being the perfect way to expose Lila once and for all, as a nice bonus to seeing her honorary family and boyfriend again.~
Daminette Soulmate AU by keeptellingyourselfthat
~Tradition says that your soulmate will have another tattoo, something that relates to you. When they meet you, it is said that the tattoos start glowing a bright gold.~
Calling for Help by Dramatic_Squirrel
~It's been a month since the Battle of Miracle Queen and Marinette has been struggling alone under the pressure of being the new guardian. With her training yet to have been completed, Marinette makes her first official decision as the new guardian, to ask the Justice League for help.~
serendipity by keeptellingyourselfthat
~The last time Damian AL-Ghul saw Marinette was when they were twelve. He didn't think he would see her again. So, it's a huge surprise when he stumbles upon her in WE while exposing the liar of the class from France.~
In The Wrong Bed? by San_fics
~“Like I said,” Jason yawned. “Eventually everyone in this family goes crazy.”
“I'm not crazy!” Damian protested. “She was here!”
“Maybe you just had a very realistic dream?” Dick suggested.
“I’m perfectly capable of distinguishing dreams from reality, thank you very much!” Snapped Damian. “She was real and she was in my bed!”~
Cat Cursed by TheStarfishAlien
~The Cheng family carries a curse. Every other generation carries a second form, that of a cat. Their dual nature makes it difficult for those with the curse to fit in with society. Some flee permanently into the form of the cat, while others try their hardest to pretend that their cat form does not exist. Very few find a balance in the middle.~
Secrets, Masks and Family Gatherings by ggomoz (ggomo_springtime)
~After nearly a year of being together, Damian finally decides to introduce Marinette to his family.~

~After dedicating many life cycles to an endless conflict between chaos and order, Ra's Al Ghul decides to use his last chance to form a union.
A union between their respective heirs that will last for eons & eternities.~

~Marinette and Damian are betrothed and that's all you need to know.~
Senses by Alexiessan
~Marinette never thought that she would be among the 0.1% of the population to have a soulmate, and yet, here she was.
She wasn't ready for her life to change drastically because of it.~
A Welcoming Change by Brinxiethebear
~Damian Wayne always saw himself in a certain light. He was calculating and cold and he always took his work seriously. He was what others would call the Ice Prince. He was a loner and by choice. The only people he ever really tolerated talking to was his family and his only friend, Jon. Mainly he just spent time with his pets.~
Never alone by Alexiessan
~For a moment, ever since Lila came into her life, Marinette thought she would lose everyone dear to her. Turns out, if she keeps trying, she can do anything and make everything turn out for the better.
Contrary to her belief, Marinette was never alone.~

New ML Fanfiction: In Direct Opposition
I figured I would post the first section of this fic here on Tumblr while announcing it's inception. Future installments will be on AO3(as this one is) which is linked in my profile.
The fic is Alya-centric and begins the morning of Origins. Alya's alarm goes off early, she gets up early, she leaves the house early, and she meets Chloé Bourgeois before anyone else at school. Events quickly clue her in that her new 'friend' is, problematic, but Alya is nothing if not stubborn and takes this as a challenge. The fic will revisit several canon-events from a different point of view and with alterations along the way. However one thing Alya begins to notice ealry... something is altering events as she's experienced them, creating multiple perceptions of the true flow of events. She sets out to find out what this is, while still living through the life of a girl at FDP stuck between Chloe and Marinette, Ladybug and Hawkmoth. Full text below the cut.
Alya Césaire scanned an article about the mayor dedicating a new park, then entered his name into her phone's search engine. She finished the article while stirring more sugar into the remains of her morning coffee then tapped through search results to scan for more info.
Ten years, daughter, wife-Audrey Bourgeois.
Alya stopped at that name. She glanced over the embedded pictures of the mayor's family, then opened a new tab to double check her theory. Yes, it was Audrey Bourgeois, fashion critic. She was often mixed up with the New York heroes in some manner or another. Usually it was some villain seeking revenge. Majestia and Knight Owl had saved her countless times. It seemed like Audrey was really good at inspiring revenge.
Alya finished her coffee, moving on to the next article, search engine open beside her. She was deep into an article about fashion mogul Gabriel Agreste when her sister's voice interrupted her.
"What's all this, sis?" Nora indicated the breakfast array Alya had spread across the table, before grabbing an orange and peeling it.
Alya folded the newspaper and tapped it against her lips. "Well, despite my triple checking, my alarm went off a whole hour early this morning. So I put my extra time to good use.  Some for me, and some for you and the twins."
Nora's eyes widened as one part of that sunk in. She froze with an orange slice poised in front of her mouth. "New school? It starts today? As in…?"
Alya couldn't help but grin at her big sister's reaction. "That means the twins are all yours today. Good luck, this breakfast should have them docile for a little while."
As if on cue a sleepy but insistent, "Mama?' and 'sis?' made themselves heard through the apartment.
Alya grabbed one last piece of toast and her bag. "Oops, look at the time. See you when I get back, Nora!" then she fled.
-----------------------
Early up, early out the door, and now early for school. Alya lingered outside, watching the new kids coming and going. It was a little conceit her mother had taught her to make the move easier. ‘You’re not the new kid, honey. You’ve been around since you were born. They’re the new ones. Just give them a chance to show you who they are.’
Alya liked the idea, but it did come with the tricky afterthought. Who do I give a chance to first?
A limousine pulled up to the curb as if on cue. The other students ignored it, and Alya wondered just what kind of school this was. A driver opened the door and out scrambled first a bespectacled ginger haired girl, then a glammed up blonde whose body language immediately set Alya’s hair on end. The tinge of fear just galvanized her though. What good’s a reporter who is scared of the rich? If I can take on this one, I’ve got it made. Her morning dive in the paper had even supplied her with a name to go with the face as she approached.
“You’re Chloé Bourgeois, the mayor’s daughter!”
The Blonde’s head snapped around and sharp-cut sapphire blue eyes regarded her cooly. Alya stood her ground with her best smile in place. Chloé gestured to her, “I don’t know you, do I?”
The ginger was at Chloé’s shoulder in a heartbeat, murmuring near her ear, “No Chloé, you don’t. She doesn’t go here.”
Alya stuck out her hand, bulldozing the social barricade, “Alya Césaire, new student. So, you really are the mayor’s daughter, right? I saw your picture on the mayor’s website while doing my research.”
The other girl was clearly not used to being approached. She regarded the hand as if it might be a weapon, but a few beats later what Alya had said seemed to register and her scowl turned into a delighted smile. “You saw my picture on daddy’s webpage? Was it big? Was it on the front, or was it buried again? Why were you looking me up? I mean, I am interesting, I know, but why specifically? ”
Alya kept up the pressure, recognizing tells. “Well, it just made sense, looking for the important people in town. I’m an independent reporter. While I have you, can I line up an interview?”
It worked. The delighted curiosity morphed into a self-satisfied pleasure on Chloé’s face. She reached out and plucked at Alya’s hand, not a proper shake but a gesture that could be worked with. “An interview? Well, I suppose I could do something like that. Are you very famous back where you come from? You’re not… dressed… very fashionably.”
Fashion! Alya remembered the other little nugget of information and put it to use. She clasped her hands behind herself, squaring her shoulders. “I’m rising in the journalism world.” Not technically a lie, even if I’m very close to the ground right now. “As for fashion, we can’t all be as well versed as Audrey Bourgeois, can we? Anyway the story is supposed to be what stands out, not the reporter.”
A series of reactions danced over Chloé’s supremely-readable face, not all of them positive. Alya filed that away for later. In the end though her smile remained, if slightly more pasted on. “Quite right. Well, it’s a very busy day, new girl. If stories are what you are here for, today is the very first day Adrien Agreste will be attending Francis DuPont. Oh, I know!”
Chloé’s face brightened with childish delight again.
“You can do a joint interview for the both of us. The mayor’s daughter, Chloé Bourgeois, and Adrien Agreste, fashion icon, friends finally united!”
Professional interest joined with her desire to make new friends. Alya nodded with a toothy grin of her own and clenched a fist, “I’ll interview the two of you within an inch of your lives.”
Chloé nodded, “Excellent. Just follow me Césaire. I can see we’ll be good friends.”
--------------------
The school was definitely a change of pace. Alya knew her father’s new job was a lot better, but everything about this school screamed money. There were only a few dozen students in total from what she could tell, and her classroom had seats for twelve at most. She was still taking it in when Chloé stopped beside one of the front desks and held up a hand.
“Wait here. I have some adjustments to make.”
She ascended to the next tier and stopped beside a dejected looking girl who wore her dark hair in pigtails. Chloé said something in a normal tone that Alya couldn’t hear. Alya tried to strain her hearing, snooping being a perfectly valid journalistic activity, and so flinched when Chloé’s voice went from normal to bellow.
“Wake up, Du-Pain-Cheng! You’re sitting in my seat!”
The pigtailed girl jumped, her eyes focused on Chloé and she sighed, “Chloé, this is my seat, this has always been my seat.”
Beside Alya, Sabrina opened her mouth, but then snapped it shut and gave Alya a side-eye. Alya’s hackles rose.
“Not anymore!” Chloé snapped. She thrust a finger at the empty first row seat in front of pigtails. “It’s going to be Adrien’s first day and that’s his seat. Which means you’re sitting in my seat.”
Pigtails seemed resigned, but still questioned, “Who’s Adrien?”
Chloé laughed into the back of her hand. It was not a nice laugh. Alya’s hackles rose further. Chloé leaned in too close to pigtails, “Adrien Agreste! What, have you been living under a rock? Well, no, scratch that. I know you have been. Adrien is only the most famous model in all of Paris, and he’s my best friend. I was the one who had daddy get him enrolled here, so I get to sit beside him.”
Alya’s senses expanded, taking in the room, the reactions, tiny details that mattered in an instant. She stepped up to the pair, “Hey!”
Not just two pairs, but all the eyes in the room swiveled to her.
Alya gestured back to the empty front row desk Sabrina still stood beside. “If it's the proximity you want, this seat makes a lot more sense. No desk in the way, and he’s not facing the wrong way. I mean, I’m new to Paris so I don’t know who he is either, but I’m guessing it’s not the back of his head most people go gaga over.”
Chloe and pigtails exchanged looks. Alya counted to ten in her head to keep from going on, she had to let it stew. Chloé went from confusion to confidence again. “Of course! Up front is where the winners are anyway.” Alya was congratulating herself but Chloé snapped back to pigtails, “Being behind Adrien will remind you that you’re beneath him too, Du-Pain-Cheng.”
Chloé immediately stepped away from pigtails, and Alya considered it a partial victory. Behind her, the other girl wilted with relief. Chloé stopped short when the problem of three girls and two seats became apparent, but this time she had a solution of her own.
“Sabrina! You go up and sit beside Dupain-Cheng. She clearly needs all the help she can get. Don’t let her out of your sight. Cesaire, you stay with me, we can’t have you getting lost on your first day.”
Shuffling took place. Chloé was rattling off information about Adrien Agreste, but Alya was listening with half an ear. She’d been in school for less than thirty minutes and already she sensed she was in the middle of something big.
---------------------------
Lunch was Alya’s first free moment. This Adrien Agreste hadn’t shown up, and Chloé had gone from energetic to reticent as the hours wore on. It was Sabrina, not Chloé, who informed her, “Chloé’s going back to the hotel for lunch. As her best friend , I’m going with her. You stay here, and try not to get into too much trouble.”
It was funny, 35 kilos of awkward girl trying to look intimidating through glasses thicker than Alya’s. Alya made sure not to laugh though, it wouldn’t help anything. Instead she just gave Sabrina the same innocent expression she gave the twins when they were trying to be bossy. “Of course not! I’ll be fine. Go cheer her up. Only a best friend can do that, you know.”
Sabrina’s suspicious look had Alya thinking maybe the other girl saw through her, but she didn’t say anything. She just trotted out after Chloé, who’s ground-eating stride had almost taken her out of the courtyard already.
Alya had a goal this lunch and scanned for her target as soon as she entered the cafeteria. Finding her, she crossed to the table-for-one, and tried a cheerful sing-song. “Heya, pigtails.”
The intensity of the glower she got surprised her. “I have a name you know.”
Alya tried again. “I know, Du-Pain-Cheng, right?”
The glower darkened. Everything about this girl screamed cute and perky, but her expression would have fit a hardened criminal. “It’s Dupain-Cheng. That’s my last name. My friends call me Marinette. You’re Chloé’s friend though, so I guess that doesn’t matter.”
Alya would not be defeated. She helped herself to the seat opposite Marinette. “I’m going to be a friend to lots of people if I can help it. Can I count on you being one of those people? The name’s Alya Césaire, journalist-in-training.”
She stuck her hand out, and just as Chloé had, Marinette eyed it suspiciously.
Alya offered, “I did manage to avoid you having to give up your seat this morning.”
At that, Marinette cautiously extended her hand. “Yeah, why did you do that?”
Alya grabbed it before Marinette could reconsider and gave a solid shake. “Because, as Majestia says, ’All that is necessary for the triumph of evil if for good people to do nothing.’”
Marinette looked thoughtful for a moment, but then shook her head. “Well, you’ve set yourself up with the evilest girl in all of Paris.”
Alya’s own observations has been piling up, and before this morning she would have agreed instantly. However, Alya had already made nice with the blonde girl, and she would not be defeated , even by herself. A new line of thinking presented itself and Alya took hold of it with both hands.
She looked Marinette in the eyes, speaking slowly to convince herself and the other girl at the same time. “No. People aren’t evil. Evil gets inside people. If she’s evil now, then we just have to defeat that evil. That’s what heroes do. They defeat evil and save everyone .”
Marinette looked doubtful, but she slid a beat up box containing a single intact Macaroon amid a lot of mushed crumbs across the table toward Alya. “Well, thank you for what you did this morning, my hero.”
She finished with a smile and Alya smiled back in relief. Alya broke the macaroon in half and offered one piece back to Marinette. “Glad to help. Now, I need you to give me your version of what goes down in this school. A good reporter can’t ever have too many sources.”

(Siblings big sis Cass and younger sis Marinette) When a strange alarm sounds out in the Batcave no one but Tim knew what it was about, at fist they thought it was for Bruce when the alert says family blood located. However none of them was expecting a blood match to Cass and a Marinette Fu (digging into her files shows her birth records and relation to her recently passed 'grandfather' Wang Fu were fake (basically Fu found her after she escaped the League and took her in) in Paris, a sibling blood match at that. When Marinette wakes in the hospital two days after her final fight against Hawkmoth (days of none sleep, preparing plans, and overdoing herself using the Miraculous causing her to pass out at school when she was finally able to relax and her body shut down from the stress) she knows her days in Paris are numbered. She needed to leave, vanish before they find her. She knows the League will stop at nothing to get her back, especially if they find out she has the Miraculous box... She just wasn't expecting for her older sister Cassandra (whom she only heard rumors of) and the batfam to be on her heels as well.
Stop in the Name of Your Sister!
Honk Honk Honk
Everybody in the cabe let out a collective frown at the noise, except for one blue eyed black haired child who hadn’t slept in 4 days and was staring confusedly at the screen.
Now, this alarm was originally supposed to sound serious, because to Bruce the situation was so.  Not to his kids though.  To them, while they knew that it was somewhat important, it was more of a joke than anything that there was another one wandering around somewhere.  So the alarm now sounded like honking of high pitched horn.  Now, you may be wondering, what the heck is this alarm, and what in the world does it mean?!  Well, it was an alarm that went off when a blood relation was found.  Bruce had designed it for himself, but everyone else also added their own blood to make Bruce feel better.
Family Blood Located
Stephanie rushed to Tim’s side, practically shoving him out of the chair as she stared at the red flashing words over the screen.
“Oh my gosh!  There’s another one!  Someone go get Bruce!  Hurry, he said we’re not allowed to look without him here if this ever happened!”
She shouted at the others in the cave.  Tim sighed as Dick nearly threw his phone in his haste to text Bruce.  There was a lot of noise in the cave, all speculating the kids gender, who they belonged to, how old they could be, and the like.
Bruce would have made the flash jealous by how quickly he rushed down the stairs, Damian and Alfred behind him, though both their paces were considerably slower; Alfred because he was calm and held himself with class, Damian because he was trying to measure himself and show his superiority.
Bruce stared at the screen as he tried to catch his breath.  He wasn’t ready for this, he couldn’t believe he had another child.  But he needed to know if he needed to help them, so after stealing a breath he went into Batman mode and commanded Tim to open the file.
Blood Relative: Marinette Fu
Blood match:  Cassandra Cain
‘Marinette Lenore Fu’
Age: 15
Born: Paris, France
Relatives
Mother: Unknown
Father: Unknown
Grandfather: Wang Fu (Deceased)
They all stared at the screen in shock, even Bruce was speechless.  On one hand he was relieved that it wasn’t a new child of his own, on the other Cass had a sister and he doubted that her life would have been any better than Cass’s if her father is who he thinks it is.  Everyone slowly turned to Cass and saw that she too was shocked by the news, the small humorous smile she had earlier when watching Bruce faded as she stared at the information in front of her.
“Sister?”
She whispered to herself as she slowly pointed to the screen.  Her small voice snapped everyone out of their grande and before anyone could say another word Tim was at it.  He pulled up whatever he could find of the young girl, and the more he dug the more he found on her.  Or rather he found how fake everything was.  The files were all decently forged so that if you weren’t looking, and Tim was looking very closely, no one would see anything wrong.
When Tim was done, there was nothing.  It was like she hadn’t even existed at all.  That was clue enough that she wasn’t born and raised somewhere that would be considered a good standard.  The only thing that they found about her that even had a hint of truth was about her supposed “grandfather” Wang Fu.
It looked like his medical records were forged slightly, but lots of it was indeed correct.  He had died from a heart condition, he had been in care of Marinette Fu for a good portion of her life, he had owned a massage parlor, and nothing about him seemed evil or cruel.  He appeared to be an innocent old man, but from what Tim found in his documents, and the places that were indeed forged, he knew that the man was hiding something.
Once all the information was out in the open he pushed away from the desk slightly, trying to take it all in and piece everything together.
“Want to meet.”
Cass determinedly stated, her eyes filled with a fiery resolve.  She needed to meet this girl, she was apparently her younger sister, and she needed to protect her.
_________
Marinette woke up with a small groan.  Her head hurt and her body ached, all in all she felt like she had just been crushed by a 5-ton boulder.  There was an incessant beeping coming from her left, and if she could find one of her knives she would throw it at the source of the aggravating noise.
Her head hurt, but she needed to know where she was and what was happening.  The last thing she remembered was walking into class after another sleepless night, sitting down in the back, and lying her head against her arms on the desk.  Then she was here.  She scrunched up her still closed eyes and let out a tired groan.  She had no idea how long she was out and she was still absolutely exhausted.
Ever so slowly she peeled her eyes open, taking her time due to how sticky they felt.  It was like there was glue holding them together.  She had to blink a few times to make the blurriness that clouded her vision dissipate so that she could actually see clearly. The room was white, there was almost no color at all.  The room smelled like lots of chemicals and hand sanitizer.  There was a brown door to her left, as well as a heart rate monitor.  On her left was a small dresser with an electric alarm clock that read 4:37 AM 23 March 20##.  That had Marinette’s attention.  It had been roughly two entire days that she had been knocked out.  She sighed as the weight of everything took hold of her body, adding a load to her already crushed and aching body.
She had tried to do absolutely everything.  She had been doing commissions so she could earn money to live, making plans for her class, grading papers for her teacher, tracking Hawkmoth, training her team as well as herself, fighting akumas, doing her homework, and once she had discovered Hawkmoth’s identity, she had been plotting almost every possible way to defeat him.  She honestly felt like dying, but then she remembered that she was the Guardian now.  We couldn’t die without passing her knowledge on to somebody like Master Fu passed his to her.
She frowned at the thought of her late master.  He was a good man and she owed him her own life.  She would have died on that mountain too if it wasn’t for him.  She had barely escaped The League of Assassins.  Her father had been punishing her, but he had underestimated her, and that was his mistake.  He had forgotten how dangerous he had made her, forgotten that she was a weapon, so when he came too close, she struck.  The fight was hard and long, and she had been able to deeply slice her side before she had knocked him out.  She had been bleeding out in the snow, Shadows were fast approaching, but Fu had been there.  He had found her dying in the snow in a pool of her own blood and even knowing who she was and what she represented, he still cared for her.  She likes to believe that he truly did love her like the granddaughter he always said she was.
But he was dead now.  He had been so old, and it was his time.  He had passed on all of his knowledge to her, taught her everything he knew.  Now it was her turn to continue his legacy.  And now that her time in Paris was finally complete, she needed to get a move on.  She knew that the Shadows still searched for her, and if they knew what she now was, she knew they would stop at nothing to retrieve her.  Now was the perfect time to slip away.  No one knew she was awake, no one cared that she was here, and if she played her cards right, she could be out of Paris by the time the sun rose.  But in order to do all of that, she would need to get her exhausted body to cooperate and get out of the gurney.
Maybe she could just rest here a little longer, goodness knows that she deserved it.  But then she thought about how the only reason that the League hadn’t found her was due to the spell that Fu cast on her, the spell that faded as soon as he took his last breath only a week ago.  She was surprised she had lasted this long at all, but she needed to get moving.  Every minute wasted here was a moment more likely she would be taken back to Nanda Parbat and punished for her desertion.  She shivered at the thought.
She remembered standing at David’s side as she watched the Al Ghul’s punish the people that defied or ran away from The League.  The screams that would echo around the base to serve as a reminder of what happened to those who betrayed what they swore to.  The blood that would line the walls and floor, and the scent of death so pungent in the air.  She couldn’t go back to that, she would take her own life before she let them even touch her.  It was a miracle she had escaped to begin with as she always seemed to have someone watching her.  She had heard stories of an older sister, one who never learned to speak or read, only to fight and read her opponent’s body.  She was a master assassin, an ultimate weapon.  One day she went on a mission, and she never came back, and by the time The League found out about her desertion, The Bat had already claimed her as his own.
Marinette had been trained in a very similar way, the only difference was that she had received an education on understanding words so she could complete commands.  If she didn’t understand or she didn’t complete the command, she would be punished.  It was a fear tactic, one that had worked well up until she was 11, when she decided she would leave the pain behind or die trying.  She imagined finally being able to meet her older sister, the woman she was destined to beat.  But it didn’t work out that way, and now with her responsibility to the Kwamii, she didn’t think meeting her older sister would ever be a good idea.
The thought of the Kwamii and all of the Miraculous is what finally kicked both her kind and body into overdrive.  If The League took her, if they knew what she now was, they would stop at nothing to retrieve her and force her to give up her powers.  She needed to leave now, leave before the Shadows got their hands on the box.  So she summoned all of the power she had left, drawing strength from the magic that had been part of her for so many years into her body and stood up.  She had a job to do, she didn’t have time to lay around anymore and play patient.  Carefully she took out the IV from her arm before she removed the clip that connected her to the heart rate monitor.  The loud beeeeep sounded throughout the room and she could hear people begin to rush toward her door, so she needed to move quickly.  She shoved the window open, thankful there was a massive tree there.  She practically flew as she climbed down the tree and ran.
After only five minutes of running her mind began to feel fuzzy, her breath was short and came out in little gasps, and her legs felt like they would collapse from under her at any given moment.  She couldn’t stop though, she could feel eyes on her, and that was bad enough.  Once she made it to the studio she grabbed her emergency duffle bag, already filled with her necessities in case something like this happened, and made her way to the were the Miracle Box was hidden.  She nearly collapsed from relief when she saw it there, still in its perfect condition.
Once she was sure she was safe, she pulled out the glasses and transformed.
“Voyage!”
She shouted out, her body felt heavy with the energy it took to open the portal to the small cabin in Spain that Marianne had gifted her.  Once she was out of Paris and in the safety of the woods she de-transformed and trudged her way to the door.  Every move she took felt robotic, her mind was empty, and all she could really do was collapse once she was close enough to the bed.  Her body once again gave up on her, and she was out.
_________
“The heat signature just disappeared.”
The deep gravelly voice spoke through the com while looking around for a clue of the girl.
“Where?”
Cass demanded from the building she was pitched on diagonal to the massage parlor.
“I’m not sure.  We may need to go in to see if there’s anything blocking the signature out.”
Immediately after the words left Batman’s mouth Black Bat was off, carefully and quietly entering the building. It was silent in the small shop, a type of silence that comes with emptiness.  Cass was cautious as she maneuvered around the small space, looking for clues of any secret entrances or exits, places one could easily hide.  But there was nothing to show that there had even been a fight.  Only once she had made it down to the massage parlor on the main floor did she feel something was off.  She moved around letting her mask’s monitors read the room and pick up on anything that could be hiding.  Just like the rest of the shop, there was nothing to suggest she ran, but it did pick up on traces of magic, and they were still fresh.  Cassandra glared at the wall to her left where the magic traces were the strongest.  It was going to take even longer to find her baby sister now, and that meant that The League had even more time to locate her and take her before she and the rest of her family could protect her.  She had never really cared for magic before now, but now that magic was the reason it would take even longer to bring her home, Cass was on Bruce’s side that it was evil.
“Gone.  Traces of Magic.”
She could hear everyone sigh and groan about that.  No one was very happy about this turn of events, but they would continue to try their hardest to find the young girl.
_________
Marinette had been in hiding for a little over two months, and she felt she had been doing very well.  There was a small village not too far from where her house in the woods was, the Kwamii were able to roam around freely, and for once Marientte was able to let herself relax.  Not fully, she still needed to be ready in case The League was somehow able to locate her, but enough that she could finally just breathe.  Of course, good things never lasted very long for her.
Marinette had been sitting at her table drinking some tea when one of the sigils she had set up around her cabin had gone off.  Someone had found her, and she needed to leave now.  She had set them up in a 5 mile radius 10 mile diameter around her home so that she would have time to prepare and run.  So she knew she had approximately 15 minutes before anyone arrived.
“I command as Guardian of the Miraculous that all of the Kwamii under my care return to the Miracle Box immediately.”
She watched as all of the Kwamii flew back into their respective slot of the wooden box, and once all of them were accounted for she shoved the box into her duffel bag.  She had approximately 13 minutes left.  She quickly zipped up the bag, took out her dagger she always had on her and drew the final line on the ruin she had carved all around her door frame.  With that she once again grabbed the glasses she had in her pocket and put them on.
“Do we have to leave so soon?”
Kaalki complained with a wide stretch.
“I’m afraid so.  Let's gallop.  Voyage!”
Once again she was gone, now in the middle of nowhere of a rural area.
_________
Tim growled as he knocked out yet another Shadow.  It had taken two months, but they had finally located where she was.  Unfortunately, so had Ra’s.  There was a small cabin in the middle of practically nowhere in Ireland signed off to Fu by someone named Marianne, and once Fu died, though it was buried deep in the will, coded no less, they had found that the cabin went to Marinette.  They had immediately booked a flight to the area, and had been fully prepared for some type of encounter, just not with The League of freaking Assassins.  It didn’t matter though, because they would get there first and hopefully they would be able to fight off the assassins first then explain everything after. It was a nice fantasy, but they all knew that wasn’t how things went for people like them.
Cass had gone ahead to find the cabin and warn the girl of who she was and what was happening.
“Gone.  The cabin on fire.  Magic traces.”
They could hear Jason cursing up a storm as he shot yet another ninja in the knee.
“Regroup, meet back at the plane.”
Batman growled through the comms.  The sound of everyone agreeing rang through the coms as everyone turned back from the woods and back towards safety and a new plan.
_________
Marinette was about ready to fake her death, or die for real.  That was always an option.  She could just pass the guardianship to Adrien, he would take care of the magical beings, he really was a nice guy after all.  It didn’t matter where she went, where she hid, what spells she used, someone always found her in a timespan of 2-5 months.  She had been on the run for over a year, and she was exhausted.  She had finally decided that the best place to lay low was Gotham City, New Jersey.  No one would question who she was, why she was there, and other such formalities.  She would be able to blend in with the rest of the crowd, and with the fake alysis she had created nobody should be able to find her until she had found a way to live off planet while being able to help the Earth from said planet or fake her death.  The latter would probably be the best option since there were two groups searching for her.  She had found that out after the fifth time she needed to leave the safe house she was in at the time.
She had been in the city for two weeks when her ruins warned her that someone was coming for her, and unfortunately they went off when she was on the roof of the complex she was living at.  Quickly she stood up and went to run towards the firescape when a dark figure landed in front of her.  She turned around and noticed that she was surrounded.  They weren’t wearing League garments, so that meant they were the second group.  That was okay though, all she needed was an opening, and she could make those for herself easily.
“Stop in the name of your older sister!”
One of the figures called out which threw her off guard.  What did that even mean?  How did they know she had an older sister, she hadn’t even met the girl before.  Unless this was some kind of ruse meant to distract her.
A dark lithe figure melted from a shadowed corner of the roof and slowly made their way toward her.  The person was obviously female, and their body language showed that they were open, unaggressive, hopeful, but they were nervous.  Though they tried to show that they were no harm, their suit was anything but that.  Their face was completely hidden by a black cowl with long bat-like ears.  The eyes were completely black and it appeared that the nose and jaw of the costume were crudely stitched onto the mask.  The body suit was obviously made of some sort of fabric with armor underneath that while appearing strong still allowed for flexibility.  To finish the look a long dark cape was draped around her, almost hiding the yellow bat on her chest and utility belt around her waist.  So though the woman showed that she had no wishes to begin an altercation, she was still ready for one.
“What do you want?”
Marinette snarled as she bent down into a battle ready stance.  They all stayed silent and she watched as the girl slowly lifted her hands and placed them on her cowl.  An alarm blared in the back of Marinette’s mind warning her that this could mean nothing but bad news.  If they wanted her to see their faces then there was no way she was going to get out of this alive.  Before she could even make a move the mask was gone and gentle brown eyes stared into her blue eyes.
“Baby sister.”
It was practically a whisper in the wind, but she heard it, and though she knew what the words meant in a vacuum, she couldn’t understand how they were applied to her.
The girl took a careful, slow step towards her and though everything was telling her to run, fight, get away, she couldn’t seem to move.  She just watched as the black haired woman came closer and closer to her with every step.
“Hello.  I’m Cassandra.  You, baby sister.”
Marinette blinked at that, the words slowly sinking into her brain as the woman gently cupped Marinette’s face into her gloved hands.
“Si-sister?”
Marinette whispered as she unconsciously leaned into the warm touch.  Cassandra smiled so brightly one would think Marinette had just said that she had just gifted her the sun.  Cassandra nodded at the word and moved her hands away from Marinette’s face to take hold of her sister’s own hands.
“Yes.  Sister!”
“Is it true that you nearly beat Talia?”
Marinette had no idea where that came from.  It was something she had heard stories of when she was younger, and she was expected to also be able to accomplish such a feat.  But that was years ago, she hadn’t thought about that in years.  Cassandra blinked her eyes, also shocked before a smug smile filled her lips and she nodded victorily.
“Did beat her.”
Marinette was speechless as she stared into her sister’s eyes.  While they didn’t share the same eyes there were things that were similar to her own, such as the shape.  Marinette gulped, unsure of what she was supposed to do now.  She could leave, should leave, figure out what to do now.  But, her sister was with The Batman.  She was happy, at ease, she felt safe.  So maybe she could be safe here too?  Her older sister must have seen the hesitance and unsureness in her posture and gave her a soft smile and gently squeezed her hands in a reassuring manner.
“Home.”
She simply spoke.
“Home?”
Marinette questioned, unsure of what she meant.  Cass turned her head to the biggest shadow there, The Batman himself and proclaimed,
“Let’s go home!”
While she held both of their hands up, as if showing him one of her proudest achievements.  There was a ghost of a smile on Batman’s lips as he nodded.
“I’ll inform Agent A that we’ll be bringing her home.”
Cass gave a sharp nod before she turned back to look at Marinette and wrapped her in a warm embrace.  They were going to go home, and Marinette would finally be safe.

First Day
Pre story,
It was the beginning of the new school year in Paris. It was a sunny day, perfect for the situation."So this is our new school huh? "said Marinette, staring at her school with an unreasonable expression with an even tone. She wore a blue chinese inspired shirt with a knee length brown skirt and shoes. She was still unsure about everything that happened.
"Come on sis it's not that bad. It could be fun!!" Judai pointed out, wearing a big grin on his face.He was wearing a brown jacket,a grey shirt and black pants. He was more excited about it. After all,he thought of it as an adventure. He also had a thermos full of hot chocolate.
"I hope you're right Judai."said Marinette with unease." Have I ever been wrong about something like this?"he asked confidently. She gave him a deadpan look"Do you really want me to answer that?".
Judai nervously chuckled"Fair point sis"he admitted.
They entered the building. Compared to their old school it was more new looking. It was also pretty large which made it easier to get lost. Finally they reached their new class room. There were a few students already there .
"Hey guys"Said a girl in a pink dress who waved to him. "Rose!!!"Judai grinned, happy to see the blonde girl. "How are you doing Lavillent?"Marinette asked, also happy to their friend.
"It's amazing!!!"she replied. "Everyone here is super nice except well... "She stops with her expression dulling a bit
She noticed it and asked"Should we be worried about something?" Rose kept quiet"It's nothing"
The twins go to their seats. They went to the 1st row to sit down.
" So you're the new kids, huh?"a boy beside them asked. He had a red baseball hat and wore glasses. He was in a black shirt with green pants.
"Yep!!! Name's Judai Yuki and the grumpy butt is my sister Marinette Cheng!" Judai answered with a smile. Marinette in contrast simply said "Hello" to the boy
The boy responded "Nice to meet you dudes! I'm Nino Lahiffe. "He said with a grin."Also fair warning about that seat. You dudes should think about moving"he warned.
"Why's that?"Marinette asked."Because you are in my seat, losers!!!" a blonde girl with sunglasses on her head said with a rude tone. She was in a white dress with a black belt and high heels. She looked annoyed with the duo.
"Sorry man, didn't know that seat was already taken."Judai said, genuinely apologetic about what happened. He rose to get up with Marinette doing the same.
The girl smiled at them smugly"Good you know your place. Now scram losers!! I swear this school has no standards"
They went to another seat. Marinette stared at her"Well she seems like something.."
"Yeah, that was Chole . She's the mayor's daughter and kind of a pain"Nino explained. "Best to avoid her"
"Thanks for the advice Lahiffe" Marinette said instantly wary of the blonde.
"It doesn't sound too hard"Judai added"We just stay out of her way. Plus this place seems easy to handle". Little did he know how wrong his words were
. Throughout the day Chole made it her mission to mess with them. The worst prank was the bubble gum in the locker key hole and the inside of a locker. That one was as annoying as it was in a way impressive.
Even not counting Chole, the day was still not a good one. They kept getting late to their classes and were pretty unprepared for the day. The only saving grace was lunch .
By the end of the day,the twins were tired.
"Pretty easy to handle, huh Judai?"Marinette said her voice, dripping in sarcasm. "I said I was wrong Mar"Judai said defeated by the day. "Buy hey"He countered"It wasn't all bad .After Rose is here and Nino seems pretty cool."
Marinette nodded in agreement "Touche ,but right now I just want to go home and get some designs done"
"Amen to that"
As they walked to the exit, someone bumped into Judai, making him spill some of his drink. Thankfully it was cold but unfortunately it landed on Chole.
"YOU!!!" She exclaimed to anger, looking at him. You'll pay for this Yuki!!" Judai sighed thinking "This is going to suck". Marinette meanwhile glares at her.
Later
Sabine Cheng smiled."Welcome home, how was your day you two?" she smiled hoping it was good.
"Well it was something plus I kinda have someone who hates my guts, so yeah"Judai shrugged.

fun fact! the oprah of china (basically the biggest television talk show host there for decades) is a trans woman! she's very public about it and has been talking about her transition on tv since the 90s. her name is jin xing and she's commonly referred to as big sis jin and is pretty much never misgendered by anyone (esp since pronouns work a bit different in chinese languages).
anyways, thought this might be a fun fact for those who are fans of immigrant and trans marinette and want to give her a role model beside g*briel. oh and she's also a very successful dancer and is the direct of a huge dance company in shanghai!
:O
EDIT: she’s so pretty!!!!!

chlonette Filipino AU. where'd you think Chloe and Marinette would go for uni? I'm thinking Chloe is in either DLSU or Ateneo. Mari could either be in Ateneo or UP and maybe Chloe also passed UP (after rigorously studying) cause she was in love spite with her rival/frenemy lmao. Also they probably met when they were handed the wrong cups of fishball and kwekkwek (Adrien dragged Chloe to try it).
Chloe is def feels like an Ateneo girl who has a conyo accent and a big tok tok account where she just dances HAHAHHAHAHA Mari the UP hard working, 'study first' girl with landian on the side KIMI HAHHAHAHA Mag mmeet cute sa gilid ng kalsada outside of their uni tas na ulaan si Chloe ng sauce gawa ni Marinette after accidentally getting bumped on (wow mala wattpad) now they're at each other' throats

So you think Reverse Orpheus while he has the peacock miraculous has a similar breakdown as Shadybug when fighting against Orpheus. After Reverse Orpheus found that one journal that the main Orpheus written his experiences in(like Marinette’s own secret diary), that Reverse Oprheus has nothing good in his life just pain and suffering ever since he’s woken up(assuming he doesn’t remember much about Idia and his past like main Orpheus). That he doesn’t have a great older sibling to help him, doesn’t have any other friends to joke around with like a normal kid, anyone that showed him any form of love and care for him, or that anyone at all that just doesn’t think he’s a total loser or freak, that he has nothing at all. Maybe even Orpheus and Reverse Orpheus can take after their adoptive moms here(aka just like that one scene with Ladyfly and Shadybug)
Hmmm here the fight would be more or so spontaneous.
Like reverse Orpheus only made the senti-monsters, so he had 0 idea how they were controlled or if they were used at all. He only knew if one were to dissappear, via taking the feather out the supreme denied him any form of visualisation or say in the situation, so he was kept in the dark at best.
In here, unlike Shadybug, reverse Orpheus's conflict is made via his own guilt and worry. He only wanted home to his grabdpa, mama, papa, big sis and sibling. He just wanted back to his family to all be safe and together. But his guilt also made him think he was horrible for helping the supreme in eradicating his family and the resistance. He didn't know if that plan even succeeded so he could only blame himself for going through with creating the necessary tools.
Here is where og Orpheus comes in to play. Being the first one to find his counterpart, you can imagine that the other, who had no idea of anything outside his small cell, thought of the worse and assumed that the supreme was successful in getting rid of his siblings and taking their miraculouses. Hence why they start on with a fight.
Og Orpheus does detransform, mostly to make his counterpart understand the situation at hand. That his siblings are well and that they try their best to save him and foil the supreme's plan. He reassures that whatever happens, there will always be a a home where he could go back to. And right now, the ones that he considers to be apart of his home, are fighting to get him back.
Of course, it comes down to the theory that the twisted wonderland reverse Orpheus came from was another one than the og one. The supreme had very little to go off from so, ofc, the miscalculation was obvious.
Meanwhile, Lilia is down to start making crimes against humanity on the supreme. >:3c

The Morning Routine of the Queen of Darkness
Part of the Magic, Mayhem, & Other Misadventures series
AO3
The morning after a party on the Liberty is always... interesting. But that just means it's the perfect opportunity for Juleka to revamp her morning routine. With a little help...
Notes: Ver, Bloody, Miraculous_Muse, and I were sharing some Juleka Aesthetic items, and we began spitballing, which turned to snowballing, which turned to a plunny, which actually fit with a story I already had in my hoard so… now I guess I have a series 😂 And thanks for letting me borrow Dingo and Bri, Ver!!

It was officially November first. It was officially no longer her birthday. But she didn’t mind. Not in the slightest. It had been an amazing day. An incredible day.
A perfect day.
But a tiring one.
Couffaine parties tended to be… a spectacle. Usually a giant chaotic spectacle. And her sixteenth birthday… well, it had been a special day. A witch only turned sixteen once, after all. Couffaines had flocked to the city from all the corners of the world they had wandered to to help celebrate it. Of course, all her friends had been there too. As had most of their families.
A sixteenth birthday was a big deal, and everyone had wanted to be there for the day she had been waiting for since forever.
The party had started before the sun have even set, and it had lasted well into the darkness of the night. The last of their guests hadn’t left until the wee hours of the morning. No one had wanted to miss a moment of such a big day. She smiled to herself as she leaned back in her chair, lifting her hand to let purple sparks shimmer in the air around her.
The entire day, from the moment she had woken up, had been rife with magic.
And she had been able to fully partake in the magic for the first time. Now that she was a fully-fledged witch.
She wasn’t usually one for showing off. But everyone had come to celebrate her birthday. To celebrate her gaining her full powers. And everyone had wanted to see her demonstrate her new powers.
So she had given the people what they wanted. And she would have been lying if she had said she hadn’t been dying to show off…
Just a little bit.
She grinned at the memory of her seanmhair’s face when she had made ghostly tigers prowl the waters of the Seine while lights danced across the sky and shimmering sparks rained down on the Liberty. Maybe she had overdone it a little… but after the show Luka had put on when he had turned sixteen…
She could still see the delighted faces of her friends and family and the sound of Rose’s excited squeals in her ears. She could still see Luka and her ma beaming with pride as she showed off her new powers. Surrounded by everyone she loved and finally able to say she was a real witch…
Everything had been perfect.
She hadn’t even been able to bring herself to be annoyed by the fact that Luka and Marinette had made goo-goo eyes at each other the whole night and still refused to admit they were hopelessly in love with each other.
But now, even after all her guests were gone and the rest of her family had turned in for the night, she was still buzzing. Buzzing with the magic that was flooding her body, having finally been unlocked. And with excitement now that she finally had access to her full powers. But she was also tired. Exhausted. It had been a perfect day. But it had been a long one. And no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t quite settle herself. And how could anyone expect her to sleep when there was still so much energy running through her?
She sighed as Roarr let out a rumbling purr from her lap. Absently, she began to stroke her familiar’s fur as she gazed around her room. She had already put most of her gifts away to try and burn off some of the energy coursing through her. Not that it had helped much. Or at all.
Her eyes drifted down to the panjas bracelet her ma had given to her as the marker of her coming to age and gaining her powers. She turned her hand from side to side, watching the gem shimmer in the low light of the new lamp Rose had given her. Her gaze travelled up from her bracelet to land on the lamp she had placed over her dressing table.
She tilted her head to the side as she appraised the lamp.
It was in the shape of a raven, holding a lantern from its beak. Rose had gotten it for her because she knew how much she adored ravens. They were such beautiful animals. They were wickedly clever too. And loyal.
She frowned in thought.
She had always been good at the minor conjuring they had done in school. They had only ever done the simple things. Tiny, inanimate things. That was all anyone without their full powers was able to manage. But she had always been good at it. The only one in her class who had her beat when it came to conjuring was Marinette.
And while they had only ever done minor conjuring, they had learned the theory of major conjuring…
And she had always wanted to try…
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath in. Focusing on the steps they had learned in class, she imagined a raven taking shape in her mind. She imagined it appearing, feather by feather until it was fully formed. The image of the raven stared blankly back at her in her mind’s eye. When she was finally happy with the mental image she had formed, she took another deep breath in and reached for the energy coursing through her. She let the warmth of her magic wash over her in a wave of light as she willed a portion of it to gather. She visualized the magic pooling in a mass of purple sparks, and once she had gathered enough, she sent it raining down on the raven in her mind’s eye. The purple sparks disappeared where they touched black feathers, and the raven's eyes lit up.
Her exhale was shaky from the exertion, but she was careful to keep it controlled as much as she could.
When she opened her eyes, the raven was perched on the mug Rose had gotten for her. The raven looked at her with sparkling dark eyes, bright with intelligence and her magic. She held out her hand to it, and it hopped on. She stroked the silky soft feathers of its head. It let out a happy little chortle and affectionately tugged at a lock of her hair.
She had actually done it. The raven was real. Well, not real, given it was a manifestation of her will and magic. But she could see it and it was solid, and it was acting real. All of which were the signs of a good conjuring.
Of course, the sign of a masterful conjuring was if the conjured creature would develop a will of its own. Only time would tell but…
The raven cawed, head butting at her fingers that had stilled on its head. She shook herself and smiled as she stroked his feathers.
A shaky but ecstatic laugh escaped her as she continued to stroke the raven’s head. “I think I’m going to call you Nevermore.”
Roarr purred again from her lap before sitting up to nuzzle against her affectionately. Nevermore hopped to her shoulder and began gliding his beak through her hair.
A slow grin spread its way across her face as she absently scratched the sweet spot behind Roarr’s ears. She turned her attention from Roarr—though she didn’t stop with the cuddles—to look at herself in her new mirror.
From the second the clock had struck midnight, signifying her birthday, she had felt different. It was only natural. She had finally become a fully-fledged witch. Of course, she would feel different. With all of her magic suddenly at her fingertips, coursing through her like liquid light, how could she not feel different? But…
She tilted her head. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but she looked different too. Though, of course, that could have something to do with the magnificent nightgown and dressing robe. Her grin softened. Marinette had truly gone overboard for her birthday. But that was typical Marinette…
Her gaze swept from her reflection to the mirror itself. The mirror was round and framed in black. And around the mirror itself was another frame. The mirror was intentionally off-centre in the outer frame and only took up a portion of it. The design was clever, with the outer frame forming a crescent moon around the mirror, with a space between the inner and outer frames. In the crescent-shaped space, there was a flock of bats whose wings connected the two frames together.
She furrowed her brows as she stared at the bats. Then her gaze darted to her reflection, and Nevermore still perched on her shoulder. Conjuring Nevermore had certainly tired her out. But she was still filled to the brim with magic that she wasn’t used to yet.
If she was going to get any sleep, she needed to tire herself out. Or use up some of the energy she was still buzzing with.
And there was no reason she couldn’t do both…
                                                           ***
He groaned as he—unsuccessfully—tried to escape the pounding in his head by burying it under one of his pillows. Last night had been a wild party, even by Couffaine standards. Which wasn’t a surprise. Jules was the baby of not just his immediate family but the entire Couffaine Clan. And as such, her birthday had been an even more momentous occasion than it already had been.
So naturally, the party had been wild.
It had been fun.
Too much fun.
She deserved it all. Stars knew she had been waiting for her birthday for such a long time. So he, his ma, and the rest of the family, and all her friends had gone all out for her. They had even warped space around the Liberty so they wouldn’t get any noise complaints. But of course, that meant his head felt like it was trying to split itself open now…
But it had been worth it. It had been the best party the Liberty had ever played host to. Guests hadn’t started leaving until close to three in the morning.
He was pretty sure his voice was entirely gone from all the singing and laughing. And the talking… his mind drifted to the times when he and Marinette had found themselves alone together in the crowd. Dancing together. Sipping on punch and eating the cake her parents had made for Juleka. At one point they had even managed to have a quiet moment in the greenhouse. Just the two of them. Just talking.
She had looked so beautiful…
She was always beautiful. But in her gossamer dress, under the twinkling lights of the party… she had been like a fairy.
He grimaced as another pounding throb ricocheted off the inside of his skull. The cool, silky feeling of scales slipping against skin tickled the back of his neck. A second later, he felt Sass’s tongue flickering at his ear.
“Yeah, yeah, ok,” he grumbled. “I’m getting up. But you have to move first, buddy.”
Once Sass had slithered off his back, he slid—toppled—out of bed. He glanced groggily around his room. His housecoat was… somewhere… They had been so busy cleaning—cleaning was a loose term—the rest of the Liberty that he had just shoved everything they didn’t want their guests to see in various rooms. Including his bedroom…
He could look for it… but he didn’t really need a housecoat. Pants on the other hand… He ran a hand through his hair as he began scanning the room for anything even vaguely resembling pants. But the only pair he saw were the ones he had worn for the party last night and had kicked off as soon as the last guest had left. They were on the far side of the room, where he had flung them as he kicked them off. His room was small, but it seemed so far…
He groaned as another wave of exhaustion washed over him, along with another throbbing pound in his head.
Nope.
Pants weren’t worth the effort. He needed coffee. Like, ten minutes ago.
Besides, it was just Jules and his ma—the out-of-towners were staying at a local B&B a friend of his ma’s owned—and they had both seen him in his boxers. Besides, it was unlikely Jules would be up quite yet. So she wouldn’t be able to make fun of him for actually wearing the boxers she had gotten him, the ones with the stupid cartoony snakes.
He shoved his feet into a pair of slippers that weren’t actually a pair. One was from a pair of bunny slippers he had no memory of buying, and the other was plaid wool.
More or less satisfied, though no more awake—or alive—he gathered Sass in his arms and draped his familiar over his shoulders, then trudged out into the kitchen.
He had just poured some of the coffee he brewed into his mug when his sister emerged from her room.
To say she was glowing was an understatement.
She swanned out of her room. The nightgown and dressing gown Marinette had made and gifted to her—stars Marinette was so talented—flowed around her in a cloud of purple and black tulle. Marinette had been so proud of herself when she found the spiderweb-patterned tulle, and he had to admit, it suited Juleka perfectly.
Maybe too perfectly. With the dramatic sleeves and the billowing fabric, she was definitely channelling her Queen of Darkness energy.
A level of Queen of Darkness energy it was entirely too early for…
Something black fluttered up near the ceiling. He blinked, then rubbed at his eyes. He had thought he saw… But there was nothing there…
“Morning, stupid.”
He jumped. Juleka was standing beside him now pouring, coffee into the mug he recognized as the one Rose had given her as part of her present.
“Wha…” She smirked and, with a raised eyebrow, nodded to his mug. He glanced down at it. Of course, he had grabbed the “Call me stupid’ mug she had gotten for him. He screwed his eyes shut and shook his head to try and clear it of the exhaustion still fogging his mind. But when he blearily blinked them open again, he nearly dropped his mug.
Had that raven been sitting on her shoulder this entire time?
Where had she even gotten a raven and- he rubbed at his eyes. Those were bats hanging from the beams that ran along the ceiling.
Had she seriously…
No. There was no way. He had to be-
“Problem?” she asked, in a voice that was somehow mild and teasing at the same time.
“I’m going back to bed,” he grumbled before dumping the rest of his coffee down the drain.
“Suit yourself,” she said as she turned, her dressing robe flaring out behind her. Then she swept back into her room.
                                                          ***
She hummed happily to herself as she took another sip of her coffee. This morning so far had been pure bliss. She had woken up to the the most wonderful feeling of magic flowing through her veins. Her ma and Luka had told her she would get used to the feeling. But for now, she was more than all alright with not being used to it. Because waking up feeling that way—and just existing feeling that way—was amazing.
And, of course, she had woken up to find Nevermore perched on one of the posts of her footboard, standing sentinel. Her bats had all found places to roost, scattered around her room. Waking up and seeing all of them there, physical embodiments of her magic and will… it was a feeling words couldn’t even begin to describe. It had been something she had been longing for for so long, and now that she was living it, it felt like a dream.
Her entire morning had felt like a perfect, blissful dream.
Her morning routine had never been chaotic. It was one of the few aspects of her life she refused to allow the Couffaine Chaos to touch. But with Nevermore and her bats—she would have to name them all later—it was going smoother than it ever had been before.
While she had washed her face, one of her bats had fetched her a clean washcloth so she hadn't had to hunt blindly for one on the towel rack and drip water everywhere. Another of her bats had unscrewed all the lids to her skincare potions for her so that they were all ready to go for her. And as she had finished with each potion, the bat had secured the lids back on the vials for her. While all of that had been happening in the bathroom, Nevermore had been busy at work in her bedroom. Already, the raven had found an earring she had resigned herself to never seeing again, and he had also found the missing button to one of her shirts. The rest of the flock of bats had set themselves to work making her bed for her and sorting through the basket of laundry she hadn’t gotten around to putting away yet.
By the time she had floated back into her room in a cloud of tulle, everything had been put in order for her.
She sighed as she placed her mug back down on her dressing table, taking a moment to smile at the lid of the mug. The black cat with devil horns was certainly her style, but the overall cutesy look of it was very much Rose. It was perfect. Just like the rest of her morning.
Caffeinated, she turned her attention to her reflection; she couldn’t help but smile at her appearance. She was still in her new nightgown and dressing robe, and she was loathe to ever take them off. She may have technically been the self-proclaimed Queen of Darkness, but she certainly felt like a queen in her new pyjama set. And there was something decidedly luxurious about getting ready in such a magnificent outfit.
She picked up her eyeliner and, after uncapping it, leaned in closer to her new mirror. She concentrated as she slowly traced the eyeliner along her lash line, listening to the chittering and squeaks of the bats and Nevermore’s chortles with half an ear as she flicked the end of the line out with practiced ease. The second eye took a little more concentration, but it was still effortless enough.
Satisfied, she turned her attention to Nevermore. “Yes, that’s the one,” she said, nodding as the raven held up one of her chokers. The jet beads glittered in the light as Nevermore hopped off her jewelry box and flapped over to perch on her shoulder. He dropped the necklace into her hand and titled his head to the side. “Do you think you could get me my amethyst drop earrings? I think they would go nicely with my new bracelet. Thank you,” She pressed a featherlight kiss to his head. Nevermore chortled happily and then took off from her shoulder.
She watched as he swooped across the room, back to the dresser where her jewellery box was before letting her gaze trail down to her new panjas bracelet. She had been beyond jealous when Luka had gotten his ouroboros. So jealous, she had counted the days until she would receive her own miracle stone. But it had been so worth the wait.
The bracelet was beautiful. The black metal of the bracelet and rings and the connecting chains was delicately wrought, and it glinted in the light, not unlike the way a raven’s wing did. And the central stone… it shimmered the same deep violet as her magic.
She couldn’t wait to put it back on.
But first, she needed… she glanced over her shoulder at the two bats picking through her box of gloves. “No, the fingerless short ones. Yes. Those ones.” The bats fluttered over to her, each clutching a glove in their feet. Once she had taken the gloves from the bats and given them both a cuddle, she pushed her chair back and turned in her seat to survey the rest of the progress.
As she had done her base makeup, the bats had pinned her hair up in rollers for her; to coax her second-day curls into loose waves. But that work had been quick for the nimble little creatures, so they had set themselves to work scouring her closet for outfit options for her. “The skirt on the left,” she said, directing the bat away from the lace skirt and toward the black velvet one. “And I think…” she mused, “I’ll go with the purple blouse,” she said. The bat holding said blouse squeaked and flapped over to her while the other bat put away her sole white blouse. “How’s it going, Nevermore?”
The raven ruffled his feathers as he held up the earrings she had asked him to find in his beak.
“Perfect.” She rose from her chair and shrugged off her robe into the waiting claws of some of her bats. As she retrieved her day clothes from the rest of the bats, they carried the robe to her closet to hang it.
She could definitely get used to mornings like this.
She was dressed in record time and back at her dressing table to finish her makeup. As she dithered between lipstick shades, her bats eased her hair out of the rollers, and Nevermore straightened the choker around her throat while Roarr watched from where she was curled up on the bed. She had just finished dabbing on her deep purple lipstick when there was a knocking at her door.
Well, a banging.
Her ma didn’t exactly knock…
“How’re ye adjustin’ this morn,’ lass?” her ma asked as she stuck her head through the door. Then she grinned. “I see ye be adjustin’ well. How’s that jewel of yers?”
“It’s perfect,” she said, holding up her hand with the panjas bracelet. “It’s better than anything I could have ever imagined.”
“Good.” Her ma’s face softened into a rare, tender smile. “Bein’ fully-fledged suits ye, lass. Now,” her ma said, her voice going gruff again, “where’s that lad?”
“He went back to bed.”
“And he still be sleepin’ at this hour? Tosh. I’m off te work now, be a good lass an’ wake ‘im before ye leave.”
“I will.”
She turned back to look in the mirror. She was almost ready. But there were still a few finishing touches she had to do before she was ready to leave for brunch with the girls. And there was no reason she couldn’t delegate…
“Nevermore, could you do me a favour?”
                                                      ***
He knew he wasn’t asleep. Not really. Not fully. He was in the foggy place between waking and sleep. He knew he would be miserable when he came out of it; he knew he would be groggy and even more tired than he had been when he had collapsed back into bed. He also knew the longer he stayed half-asleep, the worse waking up would be.
But he couldn’t bring himself to force himself awake.
Not when he was having such a good half-dream.
It was just him and Marinette. Just the two of them. Together. Surrounded by music and softly glowing lights that reflected off her fairy-like dress. Maybe they were dancing, or maybe, they were floating. He wasn’t sure. All he knew was that everything was soft and gentle and perfect.
And that it was a dream.
Because he and Marinette were just friends. He knew it was stupid to indulge in dreams like this. And yet, here he was. Apparently, Jules had gotten him that mug for a reason.
His dream self reached up to cup her cheek. “You’re the most extraordinary girl, Marinette. As clear as a musical note and as sincere as a melody. You’re the music that’s been playing inside my head since the first day we met.” The words he had rehearsed and failed to say so many times were so effortless to say in the realm of dreams. “Marinette… I love you.”
Her doe eyes widened until they were impossibly large, and her cheeks flushed the same hue as her favourite roses. She leaned into the hand cupping her cheek, even as her gaze darted down. He could practically see her mind working, searching for the words she wanted to say. But then she looked up at him through her lashes. And she smiled. Her dazzling, shy smile that was like a blanket of stars.
She took a breath, her eyes still locked on his. Tentatively, she parted her lips.
“Wake up, dummy.”
The words came out of Marinette’s—dream Marinette’s—mouth, but that was not her voice.
He jolted awake. His eyes flew open, and he couldn’t stop the yelp—not scream—that escaped his lips as he tumbled out of bed.
“Time to get up, dummy.”
He groaned and rubbed at his head where he had thwacked it against the floor. He squeezed his eyes shut and hoped he had just been seeing things. But when he opened them again and blinked the spots from his vision, the raven was still perched on his headboard, though it had hopped closer to the edge to continue to stare down at him. “Up and at 'em,” it said in a voice that was almost a perfect mimic of Juleka’s but was just off. It tilted its head to the side, staring at him expectantly with unblinking black eyes.
He groaned again, letting his head fall back against the floor. So he hadn’t imagined the raven…
Maybe if he just laid there, it would get bored and leave?
He could practically hear the seconds ticking by as he lay on the hard ground. Sass was slithering over him, curling around him. But the room was silent, save for the rustling of feathers. He was just about to give up and open his eyes again when he heard the flapping of wings.
But the sound wasn’t getting farther away. It was getting closer.
A blast of air brushed against his face as he heard the raven landing on the floor beside his head. There were some scuttling steps. And then the bird began nudging at the side of his head with its beak, tugging at his hair and nibbling his ear. “Wake up, dummy!”
He had to wonder if Jules had told it to talk directly into his ear or if he was just unlucky.
“Fine, fine,” he grumbled, opening his eyes and sitting up. “I’m getting up.”
The raven didn’t seem to fully believe him because it watched him as he dragged himself up off the floor and gathered Sass up, and draped him over his shoulders. And when he schlepped out of his room, it followed him. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw it settle itself on the back of one of the barstools. He sighed and rolled his eyes as he set about making a fresh pot of coffee, as the one he had originally made was now stone cold.
He could feel the raven’s eyes on him as he made the coffee and scrounged up some cold pizza from the fridge. By the time the coffee had brewed, and he had poured some into a fresh mug—one that didn’t point out his idiocy—the bird still hadn’t lost interest in him. He glanced toward the living area, wondering if the bird would follow him if he went to have his breakfast on the sofa.
Before he could find out, the door to Juleka’s room opened.
She swept out of her room—because that was the only word that could describe the way she was walking—looking like the queen she proclaimed she was.
“You lose something?” he asked, nodding toward the raven that was watching him from its perch on the barstool.
She stopped and turned to stare at him. Then she tilted her head and gave him that innocent little frown that was the very definition of wicked. “No.”
“So the living alarm clock…”
“Ma said you needed to get up.”
“And you had to get birdbrain to do it?”
“His name is Nevermore,” she sniffed. “And I was busy getting ready.” Roarr yowled in agreement from where she sat at Juleka’s heels.
He rolled his eyes and scoffed. But then, despite his annoyance, he smiled. “You’re wearing your cape.” He had been so proud of the idea when he thought of it. Of course, Marinette had been the one to actually make it, but he had picked out the fabric. With her help. And the idea had been his when he commissioned her to make it…
“Of course I am, dummy! I love it.” To demonstrate her point, she twirled, letting the star and moon-spangled chiffon flow around her.
“I’m glad. But you’re going out, right?” She nodded. “Aren’t you going to be a bit cold, going out like that…” his question trailed off as she raised an eyebrow, and bats came fluttering out of her room, carrying her wool coat.
“You are saying?”
“When did you find the time to conjure all of those?” There had to be at least a dozen bats. Plus the raven- Nevermore. And who knew what else she had up her sleeves?
She shrugged. “Couldn’t sleep last night, new magic and all that. I figured I might as well try some conjuring out. Thank you,” she added as the bats helped her into her coat. They squeaked in response, and some of them nuzzled her before they ascended to the ceiling to hang from the beams.
“But don’t you think you’re taking this a bit far? I mean, you don’t have to use magic for everything.”
“I’m not actively using magic right now. You know how conjuring works. Or at least, you would if you paid attention in class instead of daydreaming about Marinette-”
“I pay attention in class!”
“Not according to Dingo-“
“You’re going to listen to Dingo over your own brother?”
She raised a brow. “On this, obviously,” she deadpanned. “Besides, Bri says it too.” Heat flooded his face. It was too early to find out his friends were apparently traitors- “And I didn’t ask them to do anything,” she said, gesturing to her flock of flying friends, “I just wanted to try conjuring a few new friends. They’re the ones that wanted to help me get ready.”
Nevermore cawed in what was obviously agreement. Above him, the bats let out a series of squeaks.
“Anyways,” she said breezily, “I’m heading out now.” She paused and sent a deliberate smirk his way. If Roarr could smirk, he would swear the tiger was smirking too. It was enough to send even more heat flooding through his face. But her words didn’t help. “I’ll be sure to say hi to Marinette for you.”
He may have been more asleep than awake, but her insinuation wasn't lost on him. He spluttered out nonsense, fighting for some semblance of a dignified response. But he was severely under-caffeinated, and all his wit seemed to still be curled up in bed. All he could do was watch as she flounced toward the door, Roarr trotting beside her. But her bats and…
“Aren’t you uh… forgetting something?” he asked, jabbing a thumb in the direction of the flock of bats hanging from the ceiling and the raven that was still perched on the back of the barstool. And was still staring at him.
“Nope,” she said popping her p. Then she smirked. “I”m going out with Marinette, so they’ll stay here to keep you company. Wouldn’t want you getting lonely while you pine away, now would we? You all be good and take care of Luka, won’t you?”
Her bats let out another cacophony of squeaks as Nevermore chortled. She smiled and then turned in a whirl of flowing hair, and laughing, climbed up the stairs and slipped out the door.
Nevermore hopped over to the bar stool closest to him and cocked his head to the side. “Idiot in love,” he said, in that voice that was so close to Juleka’s, it was downright unsettling.
He groaned. Jules had been so excited to gain her full powers. But he was beginning to think it maybe wasn’t so great…

Playlists I made for Miraculous
I watched the movie a couple of days ago (would give it a 5 or 6 out of 10 as someone who knows little abt the show and only watched a couple of episodes). There are many things that I both liked and disliked in the movie, but the musical numbers just kinda sucked. They could've been a bit more creative when it came to that (+ it was just not... catchy... or memorable... at least the version in french), so it made me think; what if I tried assembling some music for the movie/show?
(the links are all from spotify)
Paris (day to night) ; As someone who's very familiar with Paris (les fans de Miraculous qui sont aussi français/francophones hmu si vous voulez parler avec un.e français.e ig), I really hesitated putting old outdated french songs from the 40-80s because the city.... doesn't really feel that way at all anymore. I mean DUH, it's been literal DECADES and a civilisation won't just stay stale like that. But putting this city in one box and trying to find its identity was kind of hard? Which is why I sticked with Edith Piaf and Charles Trenet.
School ; 70s-80s english music. It fits the high school stereotype. I'm basing this off of Marinette's POV, so the fact that it's english kind of adds to the unfamiliarity of going to a new school (language barrier being used as an allegory of her situation).
Akuma fight ; one of the biggest let downs of the movie (imo) IS THAT THEY DIDNT USE BRASS AS CHAT NOIR'S LEITMOTIV!!! I thought big band + big band funk really fits them both in a fight soo I used it :]]] + Hawk Moth (A fragment of my soul by Invadable Harmony) having a fairy tale like theme fits pretty well too.

To Marinette: How do you feel about being an only child? Did you ever wish you had siblings?
WARNING: FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE, THIS TAKES PLACE IN AN ALTERNATE TIMELINE. NOT EVERYTHING ABOUT THE CHARACTERS HAS BASIS IN CANON R.Y.V.A.L.!
Marinette: I don't really think so if you mean a biological sibling, but... I have my family with these guys.
Yusuke: According to Marinette, Mme. Cheng and M. Dupain have stated they would gladly adopt me if I were a French citizen. However, I have obligations in Tokyo, such as school.
Yuuki: Couldn't you transfer or something?
Yusuke: ... perhaps that could be, but I need to work on my French as well. Plus, I do not wish to draw too much attention to our work. Perhaps after I graduate...?
Nathaniel: Heck yeah! We could do all sorts of projects together!
Ann: Man, wish I could live with you guys over in Paris. Akumas and amok or not...
Kagami: Are you having parental issues at home?
Ann: Parental issues? Yeah. At home? No. Mom and Dad aren't around enough to be trouble-
Kagami: It's the fact they aren't around that's the problem, isn't it?
Ann: Yeah...
Nathaniel: At least they love you, right?
Ann: ... I don't remember.
Kagami: ...?
Ann: They send me more than enough money to survive, and they got me my modeling job, but I haven't heard zilch from them since I moved here in middle-school. No phone calls, no Nyooming, nothing!
Ann takes a deep breath to calm herself.
Ann: So yeah... from what I know about your mom and dad, I'd love to have a fraction of the family love that you get.
Marinette mutters something quietly under her breath.
Ann: Sorry, what?
Marinette: Do you want to be my sister?
Ann: Well, uh-
Marinette: Please... just answer the question. Everything else will be sorted out after.
Ann: ... I've seen enough piss-poor parents that I'm worried my äiti ja isä will turn out to be the same next time I see 'em. It's lonely at home when Shiho or Ryuji or any of you guys aren't around... would your parents really be okay with me coming into your life? Wouldn't I just be financial trouble or someth-
Marinette takes Ann's hands into her own.
Marinette: Then prepare to pack your bags. I'll go talk to maman et papa and see what we can do.
Ann: ... you can't be serious...
Marinette: Dead serious. You want in, we'll see what we can do. It'll take a while for legal formalities, but...
Haru, rather loudly for her: I will help!
Ann and Marinette jump.
Haru: What is needed? Legal aid to get Ann-chan added? Financial aid? What can I do to help?
Marinette: I'll talk to Mom and Dad and ask, Haru. Thank you so much!
Haru: Oh, it's no problem!
As she and Haru hug, Ann begins to tear up, pressing her hand to her mouth to stifle her sobs.
Ann: M-Marinette... th-thank you...
Marinette takes her in for a hug. Her next words have Ann burst into tears.
Marinette: I love you, Big Sis. Even if Mom and Dad can't adopt you or whatever, you're still my big sister.

During a winter hiatus from the Edge, Hiccup goes off exploring the icy wastes. He finds more than he bargained for when a witch attempts to steal his soul. Now an emotionless husk, Hiccup must depend on Astrid and Gothi to delve deep within him and unlock the aspects of his personality he’d rather keep hidden.
Meanwhile, the rest of the riders test Hiccup on how emotionless he really is.
I guess I was really excited about this fic, considering I did a cover for it! It’s good to dip back into the How to Train Your Dragon fandom!
You can read Down to the Soul here!

You know what? Can we all just agree to stop pointing out spelling and grammar mistakes in fanfics unless the author asks for it? It’s so heartbreaking to see on the top of every fic “not beta read so please excuse the errors!” Like of course sis. Not everyone has time or resources to get a beta. Reading FanFiction is not going to the library, it’s opening the files on someone’s computer.
Keep your comments about the story and not the writing technique.

Can we talk about Return to Neverland, the Peter Pan sequel made in the early 2000’s?
I love this movie, and I feel like it’s slept on. I don’t remember if it was in theaters, but it should have been. It’s got amazing animation, some good songs, and the story and story boarding are incredible.
It’s the story of Jane, Wendy’s daughter (yeah yeah sequel trope but hang with me it’s a really good reason). Remember what Time Period Wendy was growing up? Turn of the century? When do you think her children would be growing up? If you said World War II, good job!
The movie starts with Jane’s father being drafted into the war. He tells Jane she has to be a big girl and take care of her mother and little brother. It’s also established that Wendy tells her kids all about Peter Pan and they love it.
Two years later, dad’s still gone. Jane has put childhood behind her and is listening to the radio to find any way to help the soldiers. There’s a scene where she goes out to buy her little brother a birthday present, a pair of socks, and London is being bombed while she’s out. She’s wearing a helmet while she crawls through rumble and debris while sirens and bombs shake the landscape.
She gets in an argument with Wendy when she returns to the bomb shelter. Wendy is telling the little brother, Daniel, Peter Pan stories and Jane tells her to stop filling his head with nonsense. Wendy then drops her own bomb and tells Jane that her and her brother are being sent to the countryside in the morning, and she asks Jane to tell Daniel stories, because he needs it. Jane is upset because she promised she would help take care of her family.
That night, she falls asleep on her window seat. The same window to the same nursery as all those years ago.
Suddenly, there’s a ship on the roof, a pirate ship, that a certain fairy made fly in a previous film. Jane is kidnapped by Captain Hook and taken to Neverland as bait for Peter Pan. But this is no fun adventure for Jane. It’s a nuisance, a distraction, and nonsense. She needs to get home, by any way possible.
I’ll stop describing the plot there because I don’t want to spoil it. It’s genuinely a great movie and makes me cry every time I watch it. Disney went hard on it and I don’t think it gets the notoriety it deserves.

I can’t sleep so I’m going to rant.
The ending of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 makes me so mad. Yeah, someone had to take the place of Davy Jones and since Will dies, it makes sense that it’s him. I have no complaints there.
What pisses me off is how Will and Elizabeth follow the rules literally and are separated for ten years. So Will can only come on land one day every ten years…ELIZABETH CAN GO ON THE SHIP WHENEVER! Why stay away for ten years?? Why doesn’t she join the crew!? Will joined earlier in the movie and he was fine! Or, if he wanted her to have a normal life and intermingle with people, he could come to visit on the weekends, and she could row out to be with him on the ship. Or she could just go on short journeys with the Flying Dutchmen. The organ room on the boat looks like they’d have a nice captain’s quarters to sleep in so they don’t have to do it on the beach every time!!
Look for loopholes, people!!
If you can’t tell, I’ve thought about this a lot since that movie came out however long ago.

Will we see more of Marinette and Felix? I love their big bro little sis vibe
I hope to include a little more of them going forward; we'll probably have to wait for the scene in Paris to die down but I want to put plot on hold and do some character building and worldbuilding for a bit. Marinette and Felix have a lot in common (both very creative types given to helping support others where they can). He's also a nice compliment to Bri's 24/7 energy storm and did kickback his old computer so Marinette could be an antisocial PC gamer until Bridgette dragged her out of her room.

What would you think if Chloe and Audrey heard rumours about the way they were going to be portrayed in Astruc’s new movie, so they went back to Paris in an unsuccessful attempt to stop the movie from being completed? Then an evilized villain (maybe a wishmaker-like villain or maybe even a villain that's unrelated to the butterfly miraculous) caused Chloe and Zoe to switch bodies somehow, and nobody fully understands what's going on, so Zoe (in Chloe's body) is taken by Audrey back to New York, despite Zoe desperately trying to explain things. But Chloe enters a fugue state (heavily due to trauma caused by the neglect of her parents) and genuinely thinks she's Zoe, and is even able to recall many of the things Zoe did due to being in Zoe's body. The class thinks “Zoe's” change in behavior is due to the psychological effects of method acting, since “Zoe” is playing Chloe in Astruc's new movie, but they gradually convince “Zoe” to let them help her relearn how to be “herself” again.
Zoe is not able to gain access to Chloe's memories while in Chloe's body, because unlike Chloe, Zoe knows she's in the wrong body. In New York, Zoe is trying to get back to Paris, but when she gets there, “Zoe” thinks she’s there to try to hurt Marinette. Eventually, after listening to “Chloe”, Marinette starts to suspect that “Chloe” might be telling the truth, so she decides that she must test “Chloe and “Zoe”. She fakes being in danger to see how they react. “Zoe” reacts slightly faster than “Chloe”, so Marinette comes to the conclusion that “Chloe” is lying and that “Chloe” has an evil and manipulative plan. Marinette thinks that “Chloe” must have picked up a few tricks from Lila, because she thinks no version of Chloe could possibly react faster than Zoe when it comes to protecting her. So Audrey takes “Zoe” back to New York again to “correct” her after “Zoe” fails to convince anyone of the truth.
10 years later, “Zoe” gets seriously injured after fighting a villain when Ladybug isn’t around, which causes “Zoe” to not have long to live. Then Ladybug accidentally stumbles upon the truth about “Zoe” while trying to help “Zoe” using magical powers. Ladybug decides that the moral thing to do is to switch Chloe and Zoe back to their original bodies. Once Zoe gets her body back, she blames Chloe for her impending death and for leaving her with 10 years of loneliness, while Chloe got off scot-free. When Lila gets defeated, Zoe steals the Butterfly Miraculous to get her hands on Ladybug and Catnoir’s miraculouses, hoping to “make things right”. Zoe gets defeated by the heroes (including Chloe, who has gotten her memories back) and Ladybug manages to cure Zoe’s injuries.
Look bud, sis, or secret third option. I'm old enough to be nearly out of this show's tertiary demographic. My obsession with the show is one borne from growing up with Toonami in my teens and tokusatsu in my 20's. I'm here because Miraculous understands what made those work and created a world of big, silly action that's enveloped by powerful and important messaging, all performed by enjoyable characters that you would want to be friends with.
All that's to say I'm here for fun, not for drama.
To me, the original Sailor Moon fell down when it had to advance the story or build up lore. Miraculous, being a love letter to Sailor Moon, falls down in the same places. There's a place for big, messy operatic drama, but usually not in the middle of a breezy action show. I get there has to be stakes because of what kind of show this is and who it's for, but making the story even more complicated and more violent to its characters doesn't make it better.
Chloe's current arc is disappointing but understandable. Zoe's arc also makes sense when you realize 1) her heritage as a Bourgeois means she knows how to "play the game" with the bourgeois and 2) her first interaction with and reaction to Marinette was not only cribbed from Sailor Moon Crystal but from the dang Shanghai movie. They don't need to be muddled and dramatized in order to raise any perceived stakes.
I am not here to yuck your yum--I know there likely would have been times younger me would've wanted to soap things up--but even trying to skim what you were speculating about was giving me a bad time. Hard pass, keep it simple, just let the good guys win without qualification.
