It'd be so petty if Bi Han used to constantly get Tomas' name wrong whether it'd be on purpose or because he genuinely couldn't be bothered to learn Tomas' name.
"This is my brother Kuai Liang, and his brother Thomas" "My name is Tomas" "Right Timmy" "To Mas" "Kuai Liang's brother Tom Hanks" "TOH MAS!" "I think Father said his name was Tomato Sauce"

all i want from 9-1-1 is for one of the characters preferably chim to find out about bucks bisexuality and relationship with tommy through this:
set the scene, there’s a knock at bucks door he opens it just wearing a pair of sweats and chims at the door dropping off some wedding stuff buck agreed to help out with because maddies at work and couldn’t do it and we can hear the shower running in the background
chim: oh sorry were you about to get in the shower
buck: .. ah… yeah
*chim is about to leave when the shower turns off*
chimney then raises his eyebrow and starts grilling buck in a teasing way about the company he has over when tommy walks out dripping wet and in just towel
tommy: hey baby what did you wanna do for breakfa- oh hi howie
chimney is gobsmacked for a bit before he laughs like “hen owes me $10 now”
because while they both knew thought buck was bi before, hen definitely thought buck was trying to make eddie jealous
bonus points if/when buddie get together there’s a shot of hen getting her $10 back

I'm kinda weirded out that Bi-Han scars his brother and people act like him being a little mean to Tomas is his worst deed and he deserves to die for it or something. Bi-Han doesn't owe Tomas any love or respect. You don't have to like someone just because daddy said so.
I totally agree that hating Bi-Han for not liking or loving Tomas as a brother is pretty wild take on his character, because he did not ask for such a bond, the same as Tomas did not ask to be orphaned and adopted into Grandmaster’s family. Both were forced into a situation created by adults that apparently couldn’t act appropriately to the situation (e.g. killing Tomas’ mother and sister when the family accidentally trespassed on Lin Kuei territory and Grandmaster adopting Tomas out of shame / to save his honor rather than out of love/care for the boy).
What is even weirder to me, Kitana and Mileena had in previous timeline(s) bitter relationship yet I don’t see fandom to hate original/alternative MK9!Kitana for rejecting Mileena ("You are not my family... you are a monstrosity!") and looking down on her because of Tarkatan blood (“[Shang Tsung] has created horrid replicas of me crossbred with Tarkatan blood!”). People apparently can acknowledge that Kitana was thrown into “sisterhood” she did not ask and the creation of “twin sister” happened out of her control and knowledge while also understanding it was no Mileena’s fault for acting and looking the way she was because it was how she was specifically created. If fandom can accept and support Kitana’s choice of rejecting “sister” on the spot without any empathy to look at the situation from her perspective AND AT THE SAME TIME can feel sorry for Mileena, then the similar treatment should be given to Bi-Han and Tomas, as they were presumably children who adapted to the unfamiliar situation in their own ways. However the main difference between those two scenarios is that Mileena is the “psycho” (so Kitana is excused for not wanting her as a sister) while MK1!Smoke is the personality-wise castrated version of MK9!Tomas who for whatever reason is now the fandom’s Cinnamon Roll that never did anything wrong and anyone who doesn’t melt at the sight of this cutie IS BIG MEANIE, boo!
A character not loving fans’ favorite does not commit a crime however fandom wants to present it as unquestionable proof of said character’s evilness. Fictional or real life, people are allowed to not like each other as the definition of family will vary from culture to culture, and from one person to another - it does not however allow anyone to abuse other people, but that should go without saying.
Bi-Han said mean things to Tomas, and Kuai Liang for that matter. He in general treated others in a similar, cold fashion. But objectively speaking he did much more questionable things over the course of the story, yet people are fixated on Smoke’s feelings alone - and to be honest, I'm not even surprised anymore by that.
But you know what frustrates me the most about fandom’s perception of Bi-Han and Tomas relationship? The amount of fanwork presenting Bi-Han as always mean, always abusive to the poor poor little Tomas which is not just the best proof the fandom is set to demonize kid Bi-Han for his adult self’s choices. It is the whole implication that Grandmaster and the Mother and like everyone involved in raising the brothers, all the masters and teachers did not act to prevent it from happening nor cared to correct Bi-Han’s action. And the most sick thing about that? Children imitate the behavior of adults. Do people really think that kid Bi-Han started saying "Lin Kuei blood only" bullshit out of his mind just to spit in the pitiful orphan's face? Like, really?
Stupid beliefs like that come from somewhere and children are taught by their parents and adult people around what “values” and traditions they should respect and follow. We literally know just three Lin Kuei characters and the fact that only Kuai Liang and Tomas rejected Sub-Zero’s leadership while the clan followed their Grandmaster implies Bi-Han’s beliefs are accepted and shared by the clan. So maybe instead of being so set on demonizing kid!Bi-Han - who so far was only said to be “always cold” to Tomas what is not equal to being abusive and cruel on purpose - maybe it is time for fandom to examine previous Grandmaster and the whole clan’s beliefs that A) were passed to Bi-Han to mold him into man he is today and B) apparently fucked up Tomas’ childhood so much.

[[Ignore me yapping about LiuHan once again]]
Kinda NSFW-ish towards the end?? Idk, but in case you've been warned.
Tumblr media
Intensively thinking about Bi-Han and his brothers returning to their camp at night after a mission that couldn't have gone more wrong, and Bi-Han fucking losing it. Deep down, he acknowledged that the three of them, and their Lin Kuei group overall, did everything they could and that their mission was a lost cause before it even began, but he couldn't help being disappointed, nevertheless, not only with his skills, but also with his brothers'. It infuriated him thinking that someone challenged them and survived to tell the story, and he couldn't help but wonder what their clan thought of their leader, now that they saw him lose so miserably. Like it was usual for him, he ended up taking his anger out on anything and anyone he saw: he screamed, threw insults and some fists like he was 5 years old all over again until, eventually, Kuai and Tomas joined forces and told him to kindly go fuck himself if all he had to do was argue and complain. It was useless to fight over something they didn't have control over anymore. Their first try failed, period. Now, they had to stick together and stay focused if they wanted to actually put an end to their mission and catch the guy before they were to lose his tracks.
Mission that, of course, was assigned by no one if not Liu Kang himself. Bi-Han then, as Grandmaster, had the job to visit him and tell him how things went (even if useless considering that he'll already know the outcome. Probably, he even expected them to fail).
Then, I imagine Liu finding an angry Bi-Han at his Fire Temple, so lost in his wrath that he didn't even make sense as he talked: with quick words and a croaky voice he explained to Liu why they couldn't complete the task they were entrusted with; still, all while omitting the parts where he was the one to misjudge the situation. While normally Bi-Han would bow and calmly ask for forgiveness, still staying as much professional as he could, now the cryomancer was so angry that he didn't care about ranks anymore, as he entirely ignored Liu Kang trying to participate in the conversation. He just complained and complained, like a broken record, and if Liu tried to answer, Bi-Han just talked over him to get defensive and bitter.
It was already a couple of hours that Bi-Han was at Liu's temple, and the God has never heard him talk so fucking much?? But, at the same time, Liu Kang noticed that Bi-Han was getting tired, and that the only thing keeping him on his feet was sheer frustration. So, as a last resort, he tried to get him to relax by inviting him in his room to let him rest his head on something soft, as Liu knew that was the only thing he needed to have him fall asleep on the spot. He couldn't speak with Bi-Han in the state he was at that moment: only after he'd have rested, he could have talked to him about the mission.
Except that Bi-Han didn't seem to like his idea, despite Liu Kang convincing him to catch his breath on his bed; one moment he was talking about Tomas, the other he was still insulting their target. For how much patience Liu Kang was gifted with, he, too, was starting to have enough. It wasn't like the Lin Kuei had just let World's end happen. There was no reason for Bi-Han to get that worked up. As a distraction, while Bi-Han was finally resting with his back flat against Liu's mattress, the latter sat next to him, and gently started stroking the man's black hair with his fingers, even getting some of it out of the tight bun, just see how Bi-Han would have reacted: with pleasure, he found that Bi-Han was welcoming his touch, and he didn't snatch his hand away, like he would have normally done. Deciding to test his luck furthermore, Liu Kang then slowly caressed the man's face as well, feeling that his cheeks had warmed up with the way he had been yelling moments before.
Now that he was calming down, Liu Kang finally had the opportunity to talk back: he decided it was best, for now, to just reassure him. He told Bi-Han that their target wasn't someone who needed them to take immediate action, and that the only reason he was able to run off was because the Lin Kuei wasn't familiar with his fighting methods, so they let themselves be fooled; but, now that they were more aware, the next time they'd have surely destroyed him.
Bi-Han had stopped talking for some time, as he was listening to Liu Kang's soothing voice with half-closed eyes. Even if he seemed so, Liu knew he was far from relaxed. So, at last, he bowed his head and kissed Bi-Han chastely on the lips as a sign to finish there the conversation and invite him to rest together, but as he was still bent over him, Bi-Han quickly grabbed him by the back of his neck to force him into another kiss, this time a more passionate one. Without the heart to turn him down, Liu Kang reciprocated until their short make-out session left both men breathless. Even if Bi-Han had always been rougher in bed, this time he was even more aggressive as he kissed Liu with force and hunger, biting his lips until he drew blood and forcing his tongue inside the other's mouth.
Without letting Liu the time to do anything, Bi-Han changed their positions and quickly got up to press bites all over the God's exposed neck like he didn't want to leave a single piece of skin unravished by his lips; meanwhile, his still gloved hands traveled the other's body and hastily helped him get out of his clothes. Bi-Han had gotten so impatient that he didn't even care where Liu's clothes landed once he threw them across the room.
Curious by the sudden change of atmosphere, Liu Kang let Bi-Han do everything he wanted; the bites felt good, but hurt with the same intensity. At last, he found himself yanked hard against the mattress with his chest bared and Bi-Han looking down at him like he was starving and Liu was the first piece of meat he had seen after weeks. (Well, probably they hadn't gotten intimate in some time, but he certainly didn't image Bi-Han to be that desperate).
Bi-Han insisted on assaulting Liu Kang with kisses, not even caring about the way he was already getting some sounds of approval out of the other's throat. There was no tenderness in Bi-Han's touch, clearly he was just chasing his own release, but Liu didn't seem to care: his lover was trying to relieve stress, and who was him to tell him no? Besides, he liked to see just how desperate the Grandmaster could get only for his body.
One thing led to another, and the two men both found themselves nude. Bi-Han's thrusts were brutal and graceless, and his moans were louder than usual. Liu Kang didn't even come, but he didn't bring himself to care as the only thing he was focused on was hugging the man above him and caressing him as he was being devoured alive.
Once Bi-Han was finished, he looked like a different person compared to the first time the two saw each other that night. His hair was a mess, his lips were swollen and tainted with both their blood, and his back was covered in scratches. He looked at Liu Kang one last time, noticing that he had left him in an even worse condition. Before the tiredness finally took over his body, Bi-Han leaned in to press a last, soft kiss on Liu Kang's lips. It was the sweetest one he had ever received.
The morning after, Liu was the first one to wake up, with too many marks on his body, which he didn't know how to explain, and a pain that made all his muscles throb. But, despite everything, he was smiling, seeing Bi-Han sleeping next to him with the most serene expression he had seen on him after months of being together.

surrender - hopeless (i'm falling down)
tags: angst, seriously y'all are going to hate me for the three chapters of this fic, pregnancy (unplanned but not unwanted), quan chi is a douchebag here, warning for attempt at forced abortion (i'm about to trigger my own filtering system), hurt no comfort, pre-MK1, and of course it is bireena centered but bi-han makes not physical appearance in this fic.
summary:
notes: continuation of @ladybug023 's spy!sareena headcanons inspiring my writing. I decided to splice this into three chapters because the word count went beyond 3k words and I hate writing super long stories when it comes to platforms like Tumblr. the chapter title is gotten from the lyrics of 'Hopeless' by Breaking Benjamin. also, if you want to join a tagging list for updates, please, let me know and i'll add you 😁❤️
word count: 1.6k words
also cross posted on ao3
part one of surrender; part three of i'm weak so what is wrong with that (i added a new tag for this)
Tumblr media
The deepest circle of the Netherrealm was one of the most dreaded locations in the Netherrealm and for a damn good reason.
It was the place where previous overlords of the Netherrealm banished offending denizens to be tortured by the onis.
This was the last place Sareena wanted to find herself in but what had she expected the moment she found Quan Chi at the Lin Kuei foregrounds?
Regret ran through her mind as she awaited her judgment, her palm flat against her lower abdomen, the recent news bringing mixed feelings.
She and Bi Han had always been so careful… but it is not 100% safe , came that little voice in her head.
She had lost focus of why she was in the Lin Kuei and now, she was paying severely. Here she was awaiting Quan Chi’s arrival while in Bi Han’s mind, she was as good as dead.
The last thing that the cryomancer would remember was how she betrayed his clan, how she betrayed him . How she lied to him.
How could she have deluded herself into thinking she could keep up with the lie she had allowed to fester? How could she have believed that she could stall her day of reckoning?
Her wishful thinking had done nothing but land her in this mess where her fate and that of her child was dependent on the whims of a dangerous sorcerer.
Bi Han would never know that she was carrying his child - not that she was aware herself until the onis Quan Chi had assigned as her torturers - Drahmin and Moloch - had somehow detected it.
The Netherrealm was basically hell, where demons, onis, tortured souls and every possible personification of evil walked about but they had a few rules they followed.
One of them which was her saving grace, at least, in this moment - a person with child was off-limits. Harming a person with child was seen as a death sentence, enough to have the perpetrator in the deepest circle of the Netherrealm.
It could be her saving grace but knowing Quan Chi, any assurance dwindled by a great percentage. The sorcerer was from Outworld, not a native of the infernal realm. Sareena doubted he’d respect this rule.
Ha , Quan Chi respecting the rules of the Netherrealm? That was as laughable as the many dreams of liberating the realm from his hands. After overthrowing Lucifer with the help of the Sisterhood of Shadows, the sorcerer had made himself a tyrant, keeping denizen under his thumb.
Anyone who dares to defy his dictatorship ended up in the position she was currently in. Either that or on the run like Ashrah, which did not seem so bad right now.
Quan Chi had gained unilateral control over the Netherrealm and he showed great disdain towards its rules. This one would be no different.
Hell, he’d torture her himself, unborn child be damned. The thought of that had the demon clutching her abdomen protectively, if she had to fight to her last breath to protect herself for the sake of her child, she’d gladly do that.
The heavy sound of boots against the stone pavement had her alert, her eyes looking up to see Quan Chi flanked on his sides by Drahmin and Moloch.
She sat up straight, her back against the wall as she finally came face-to-face with the brown-skinned sorcerer who stared at her venomously.
“Why is she still here, unscathed?!” He turned towards the onis, his tone miffed as he spoke like she was not right in front of him.
The onis exchanged looks, obviously displaying their fear of the sorcerer who impatiently expected their answers.
“L-Lord Quan Chi- we- w-we thought,” Drahmin started, stumbling over his words as he struggled to get his words through.
Sareena could tell this was the moment where the sorcerer was so close to losing his shit. He rarely expressed his anger in outbursts which was terrifying in this scenario.
“Speak up you imbecile!”
“She is with child,” Moloch blurted and Quan Chi let out a mirthless chuckle which chilled Sareena to the bones.
“That should not stop you.”
“We cannot-. It is forbidden,” Drahmin interjected.
He knows that , Sareena wanted to add but at this moment, her silence was more golden than whatever comeback she had on the tip of her tongue
The room fell silent as Quan Chi crouched down to her level. The demon attempted to keep as much distance as she could but she could only go so far when her back was against the wall.
The sorcerer pressed a hand against her abdomen, chanting some incantations under his breath. Then, he jerked his hand away, recoiling as if he was shocked by electric current.
He was on his feet now and his eyes widened, time standing still as he looked down at her. It was like the dreaded calm before the storm and Sareena could not afford to trust this silence, her eyes looking cautiously at him.
A myriad of emotions flitted across the sorcerer’s face before settling for rage and disdain. Quan Chi’s lips curled into a sneer as he seemed to put two and two together.
“You whore!” He spat venom.
He knew, there was no way he would not know.
“It is that pathetic Earthrealmer, isn’t it? He sired this bastard, didn’t he?” He jeered. “It is not enough that you failed your mission but you had to let that Earthrealmer bed you and put his seed inside you.”
Sareena could almost feel herself let out a sob. Quan Chi’s face was too calm, way too calm for the venomous words he tossed her. It was a moment of when he’d strike at her.
And her fear was about to come true.
“Seize her!”
No, no, no.
“No!” She yelled, the moment Drahmin and Moloch were at her sides, their hands pulllng her up. She struggled against the iron-cladded grip of the onis who dragged her out of her cell.
“Please! Please, don’t do this!”
“I’ll get rid of that bastard if I have to. Shang Tsung would have a field day helping me,” a smug look fell upon the sorcerer’s face.
It felt like a century had passed when she found herself in a room she was unfamiliar with. Her face was stricken with tears, her voice hoarse from her cries.
“Quan Chi!” A voice broke through and everyone’s attention was focused on a new presence. A pair of amethyst eyes fell upon her still in the rough grips of the onis.
The dark-skinned demon pushed through Quan Chi before reaching for Sareena. Drahmin and Moloch had released her instantly, making her fall into Jataaka’s arms.
“What in Lucifer’s name is going on?!” Jataaka demanded, her eyes glaring fiercely at Quan Chi who was now displeased that the demon had dared meddle in his affairs.
“Stay out of this, Jataaka,” Quan Chi shot back.
Sareena found herself shaking, her hand instinctively on her abdomen as she shrunk into Jataaka’s protective hold.
Jataaka stood her ground, her hold firm around Sareena. The demon had a fierce look in her eyes, the kind that had even Quan Chi and his two henchmen pause.
“You would really protect a traitor? Someone who tried to leave the Sisterhood for a pathetic Earthrealmer?” The sorcerer scoffed, his question aimed at the demon who still had her arms around Sareena.
“Still a sister nonetheless. I am not going to let you hurt her, sorcerer,” the demon hissed.
This seemed to have struck a nerve as Quan Chi stepped up to her, his face dangerously close.
“She is pregnant with an Earthrealmer’s spawn. If I have to rip that abomination out of her, then so be it,” he spat.
Jataaka remained unfazed, her gaze piercing as her arms tightened around the demon.
Then, it seemed as though the demon had thought of something.
"You are not going to harm a fellow member of the Sisterhood," she reminded. “Neither are you going to lay your filthy hands on her offspring.”
Sareena wondered if the other demon had gone mad, taunting Quan Chi the way she was. The sorcerer had no qualms about ending her life or that of her unborn child.
"Are you forgetting who rules the Netherrealm, Jataaka?" The sorcerer questioned, a hint of a smirk forming on his face.
Jataaka stood her ground, her grip tightening, “You are an outsider who managed to best us, it would do you some good to know your place and remember the rules of the realm you reside in.”
It may have sounded like an empty threat but it was anything but. The Sisterhood of Shadows have helped overthrow previous overlords, they would not give up on overthrowing Quan Chi either.
"What are you trying to get at?" The sorcerer questioned.
"If you touch a single hair on her head, her unborn child or her, you will have the wrath of the Sisterhood and Lucifer upon you. You think we will tolerate you harming a member of the Sisterhood?" Jataaka said.
Quan Chi narrowed his eyes at her, a scowl forming on his face, "Very well, then. Have it your way.”
His gaze was now on Sareena and the demon felt a chill running down her spine.
"But I will be back. Soon," the sorcerer spat before taking his leave.
Drahmin and Moloch trailed behind him like two lost puppies, leaving Sareena and Jataaka alone in the room.
The demon could feel herself shaking, she was not in the clear just yet. Her child was still in danger and Quan Chi would make sure to get rid of them.
Jataaka had noticed her distraught, the demon holding her in a reassuring embrace, "Don't worry, he will not touch you. We won't let him."
She could only hope so.
