i made a rough timeline for the clone^2 au, just for my own convenience sake when dating things. some things might be out of order from the episode date, and thats also for my convenience.

September 3rd: Danny, age 14, has the accident in the lab that turns him liminal

September 10th: Danny is discharged from the hospital and given two weeks leave from school

September 24th: his sick leave ends, and Danny returns to school

October 14th: Danny sneaks into his parents' basement and releases the ghosts they have trapped in cages. Official birth of the vigilante, Phantom

November 27th: Danny fights Pariah Dark, and wins

December 24th: the Ghost Writer torments Danny

February 12th: Danny's 15th birthday

March 3rd: its been six months since Danny's accident

March 7th: Danny fights his evil future self

May 8th: Danny meets Ellie [age 15] and they become twins

December 14th: Danny finds out from his parents that he's a clone

February 12th: Danny's 16th birthday

Early-Mid April: Danny meets Damian [age 6] :)

Mid-Late April: Damian runs off for the first time, damages Danny's hands the first time

May: Damian runs off two more times in the span of three weeks, he damages Danny's hands both times.

Early June: Damian runs off one more time, damages Danny's hands again, resulting in permanent nerve damage.

Portrait of a Cardassian Family

their stories below the cut!

Kenan (keh-NAHN), the eldest, is about 20 years old here. He spent the first few years of his life raised by his mother, until his father retired from the military and they settled down on a farm in the countryside. He's everything a Cardassian man should be. He'll go on to marry a nice girl from a nearby town and start a family, who all die with him when the town is destroyed in the Dominion bombing.

Tirin (TEER-ihn) is 16 here. He's hardworking, caring---softer than his older brother. He spent a lot of time taking care of Marrok when he was small, so they're close. He'll inherit the farm when their father dies of illness, and continue the family line.

Marrok (MAHR-uhk) is 8 when baby Eyal is born, and it becomes his responsibility to take care of the little ones while his parents and older brothers work on the farm. He's a quiet child, with a flat affect and big staring eyes that unnerve everyone who meets him. He grows up jealous of his baby sister for reasons he can't quite place. At 23, when both his younger siblings are old enough that he's not worried about them anymore, Marrok will run off to the big city and change her name to Nal. She gets recruited by the Obsidian Order, and the rest is history.

Damin (DAH-mihn) is 2 here. He's an ambitious, willful little boy, desperate for the attention and praise his parents never give him. He wants to be just like his father someday, clings to every word of the stories his father tells about his glory days in the military. He joins up as soon as he's old enough, and is dead and buried before he turns 30.

Eyal (ay-AHL) is only a few months old. The baby of the family, and the only daughter (that they're aware of), she's absolutely doted on by her mother, who's been hoping for a girl since Tirin was conceived. While her siblings envy the attention she gets, she feels suffocated by it, can't stand the pressure to be her mother's perfect little girl. A few years after Nal leaves, Eyal does too. She becomes a cool butch and settles down with her cool butch Romulan wife on a planet on the edge of Cardassian space.

Crochet Update

Last night vs right now. The current progress on the maybe-scarf. I might just run out of yarn before I reach actual scarf length, but I'm curious what the full length of one of these yarn balls is. Kinda just getting a feel for it & all.

I Also bought a little book that teaches some crochet basics, and spent some time going through some more stitch styles. The above scarf is made with single stitches, and the following...

Fuck the treble. The process for doing it was so different from the others, I Hated it. Maybe my hands being tired also doesn't help, but I am Grrrr at this one. Final product was okay at least.

These 3 little bitches took me 2 hours to make. Ugh.

So when I was young, needlework was a BIG deal in my family and I was expected to learn cross-stitch because that's just what you did.

Severe undiagnosed and unsupported ADHD with all the RSD and perfectionism that comes with it, made it exceptional difficult. My mother was very insistent on doing it "right" which meant complete lines, alternating colors, top to bottom.

After more pulled stitches, ruined Aida, and screaming fits with my mother, than I can remember, I gave up. Like most things I've tried and wasn't immediately successful at, it became "a thing I can't do."

Well, two decades later, playing a meaningless game on my phone and listening to Worlds Beyond Number, I got inspired to make a thing. My partner cross stitches and we had some material lying around and I wanted to give it a shot.

First, I tried to condense Lou's incredible speech about being a knight, living in a world you weren't promised but still obligated to try to make it better. That was... Too much.

So I settled on this l epic Brennan quote. Stubborn and traumatized, I jumped in, not looking up anything about how to plan a pattern.

I got to the first "you" hand stitching the letters without a pattern, before I realized my error.

I found an alphabet that looked reasonable a d tried it out. The stitches were tight, spacing was a wreck, but I DID it. Now I had Stitch Fever and had to try again.

Hubris struck again and I bought unreasonable Aida (28 count, I'm cerifiable) tried to pixelate a font and after buyingy first seam ripper.... Another project in the bin.

I tried again. Reasonable Aida, (18 this time!) And I planned it out. I printed blank, gridded, excel sheets and mapped it out.

It's still not perfect, but I tried. I learned and I didn't give up.

I guess the point of this ramble is:

1) it's never too late to try.

2) failure is ok, as long as you learn from it.

3) Art is inspiring. Someone else's art can poke a hole in your heart and make you want to create art yourself and that's a beautiful thread of human connection.

So, now it's onto the next project, but this one will always be special.
