#beliriand
Text
Idk if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but i genuinly don’t believe that any of the noldor had any claim to any land in middle earth when they came from valinor.
Like, yeah, their ancestors lived there, but they left voluntarily, and the current noldor were not raised in a manner that would have preserved middle-earthian traditions or anything. They straight up just do not have a connection to beliriand or middle earth as a whole other than “my ancestor came from these lands”.
So i get so pissed sometimes at that fact that the noldor just- took over so much of beliriand, just claimed it as their own, like they had a right to it when they don’t.
Like, the whole silmaril bs aside, i get why some sindar despised the noldor, like “you came to my house, you are taking my stuff and you have the audacity to tell me what to do?!?”
And there’s this like “holier than though” attitude that i read from their actions, as if being from valinor makes them better?
Like, bitch you didn’t even know how to use a sword until what, 2 years before you came here? In comparison to those of us who’ve never left ME and have been using them for thousands of years??
Like, i understand that the noldor wanted to escape valinor and I sympathize with it. I even understand and sympathize with the fact that the silmarils belonged to the feanorians, even though the sindar stole it from mrogpth.
But just like how the silmaril belonged to feanor and his sons, even though the sindar took it from morgoth, the land belonged to the sindar and the avari and the green elves and just all the elves from ME, even though the noldor decided to set up shop.
Like, the noldor did good things, and they did help keep morgoth at abay for a little while. None of that erases the fact that the land they occupied they had no claim to.

Mama, I'm in Love with a Criminal
Driving back from work I could not help but wonder more about Celegorm. I have always written him as the suave-carefree lover. But what if he were to be different.
What if Celegorm who hunts with the Vala of hunt and wild, is the most dedicated lover. He loves so intensely that his love stretches beyond the limits of sanity.
Wasn't it his love for his father that made him venture to middle earth and essentially put everything, his entire self at stake? He did the most vile things for an oath.
Makes me wonder how he would love his s/o? Would he allow himself to be vulnerable in the privacy of the one he loves? Would he be known as the most whipped for his s/o among all his brothers?
My heart feels a weird kind of sorrow whenever I think of Celegorm. He, who did the unthinkable for an oath that promises nothing but pain. Would he have wanted kingdoms to rule or jewels when all he is known for is his love for the wild?
There is not enough exploration of his character and every time I read any of it I find myself more endeared to what Celegorm could have been.
He must have been someone noble enough to be Huan's master at one point and his fall from that point aches me. Lost in the sunken lands of Beliriand is there any redemption for him? Just thinking of it seems so lonely. Loss of his self, his passion, his mentor, his family.
We've talked about Maedhros' end, about Maglor's mourning, about Curufin's estrangement from his son, about Caranthir's greed and redemption, about Ambarussa's separation but have we talked of Celegorm's loss of self?
Would there be someone to bring him back to his past? I don't know if it is Namo's healing or someone else who holds the power to restore Celegorm back to his old self so he can seek any redemption that he is to be offered.
Even Melkor was given a chance to it then why not Celgorm?
Thinking about this makes me want to write a reader who drags Celegorm back from his fall. Someone who brings him back to forests and valleys full of blooming flowers. Someone who cannot offer him healing or forgiveness but someone who can equip him with the will to look for it.
Basically, Celegorm triggers my savior complex and whenever I write him I want to save him so badly. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
I will not be accepting any criticism because I am unhinged just like Mr. Celegorm.

Basically, what if finwe, olwe, and ingwe get so tired of valinor that they dip?
Like, during their monthly bitch and stitch session, they got so tired of being rulers, they get so tired of everyone’s bs, that they get a little too tipsy, a little too pissed, and all of a sudden their on a ship, sailing to beriliand.
Listen, none of them wanted to be kings in the first place, ok, so why should they stick around when they have perfectly good heirs to take over?

What if Finwe, Ingwe, and Olwe all had secret passages within their castles?
And only they, and the builders/elves that grew up in beriliand knew about it?
They don’t hid it out of malice, or anything, but the valinor born elves don’t appreciate the benefit of having secret escape passages bc they’ve never needed it.
And, low-key, any remnants of when the elves still lived in beriliand pre-orome ends up taking space within these secret passages/rooms, so it’s like it doesn’t even exist for those who don’t know to look for it.
Idk, i think it would be interesting if the beliriand born elves just have dozens of secret tunnels throughout the castles stuffed to the brim with their history in order to keep it safe, only for it to be left forgotten by them, except for when one of these elves wants to remember their times before meeting the valar.
Also, can you imagine finwe one day whipping open one of these secret passages in front of his kids/grandkids and going: and this was Miriel’s sword, and this was my spear, and these were some common clothing items, and this was to bash the face in of any orc that came a bit to close-
Meanwhile feanor, nolofinwe, etc are standing there gapping at all this history and knowledge that they didn’t know existed one measly wall away from where they grew up.
Feanor: what do you mean my mom had a sword?
Finwe: not just a sword; a collection of swords. She was considered the best swords elf of her time.
Feanor: WHAT-
