Hey, me again! I was curious: What would your thoughts be on a Chloenette AU in which both Chloe and Marinette play video games as a way to vent stress, and end up starting to date online... while totally unaware who the other is IRL? Hey, the question mark is working this time! But yeah, I kinda picture Chloe as the type of person who SAYS she doesn't like video games because they are for "nerds," but actually has a bunch of really expensive gamer gear, and Marinette is a confirmed gamer in the show.

Oh god, this would be very hilarious and fluffy. At first Chloe really doesn't like videogames cause why would she spend her day staring at a damn screen when she can do other things? (Like staring at her phone screen while shopping lmao). But she changed her mind when Adrien started inviting her over to watch and boy, was he super ridiculous.

"Adrikins!" She cries out, snatching the controller from the boy, "You are an Agreste! You do not lose to anyone, especially commoners over a stupid game!"

She actually managed to win third place but being the competitive brat that she is, she was pissed and vowed to get first place. What started as merely watching and commenting became her and Adrien's 'training' to beat random people online.

She still insisted it was kept a secret though. She was a Bourgeois, utterly unacceptable!

I'm not good with videogames myself so I don't have a specific game in mind. But I'm thinking of some rpg or where there's roles and heroes and stuff and Chloe meets a player who's ticked her off.

Marinette was sleep deprived and just had to beat an annoying akuma and wanted to play in peace and relieve her stress when this very flashy and expensive looking player just...poked her. She poked her back. And it ended with them just running around and decided to go on one adventure. Just one, she was intrigued after all.

Chloe didn't mean to poke her. She accidentally pressed her controller and it poked this player that just gave her some sort of... something. And it poked her back! She got an invite and despite being confused about the whole thing, she accepts.

And that's where it all started.

They became friends after learning how compatible they are during missions. Chloe was still wary of people finding out about her interest in games so she kept some part of her life vague, especially her name. Marinette didn't mind, she was just happy to talk to her friend.

They open up, learn stuff about each other and one thing leads to another and bam, they're girlfriends!

This bleeds on to their personal life and since Chloe is mostly on cloud nine, she doesn't bully people like usual and everyone is surprised (and slightly worried that the apocalypse is near or there's a reality bending akuma). Everyone including Marinette.

Marinette is also ecstatic (she's told Alya and some others about her girlfriend and they were very happy for her) but she can't help but notice and be curious about her rival's sudden change of attitude. She wanted to ask but they're getting along more easily (by this, they don't try to go at each other's throat by just locking eyes) so...maybe as long as nothing major changes....

It's during the upcoming competition does certain major changes come. Marinette is with Max, Adrien and some other kid talking about signing up for the competition. Chloe overhears and being the girlfriend of an amazing gamer, she couldn't help but brag.

"Hmp, your skills are no match to my girlfriend's! She'll wipe the floor with your tears when she's done with you." Her girlfriend had mentioned last night she was thinking of signing up for their school's competition and Chloe found out it's different schools battling each other. She had been excited! Her girlfriend shared her excitement and planned to see each other and introduce themselves formally when the competition comes. Chloe wanted to support her girlfriend after all.

Max looks like he stopped working, Adrien is beaming and Marinette is shocked. Wait...

"Girlfriend?!"

"Anything wrong with that, Dupain-Cheng?!"

"What? No, no! Oh god, no! I was just..shocked." so that explains the happy moods. Max still looked shocked. Then again, this was Chloe. It wasn't even the girlfriend part. It was the, uh, someone actually wanted to date Chloe? That wasn't Adrien or some famous celebrity? And Chloe wanted them too?

"Whatever, Dupain-Cheng. My girlfriend is one of the best and she's trying out for the competition and I'll be there to support her! I feel sorry for any of you who'd be up against her."

Chloe rolled her eyes and walked away from the shocked group, muttering how they're definitely going to lose.

"Marinette." Max finally speaks.

"Hmmm?"

"There's a 89% chance you will experience sudden dizziness and faint, but didn't you just tell me you also had a gamer girlfriend who happened to be blonde and is coming to support you?"

Oh. Oh.

"She has ten seconds before she - oh wait, no, she's already fainted. Thank you for catching her, Adrien."

NieR Orchestra Concert 12024 [the end of data] (London, 15/2/2024)

NieR concert was incredible just as expected. Honestly, from the moment I got there - the cosplayers, the general atmosphere, it was just a good place to be surrounded by NieR nerds lmao. So many people happy to chat with the stranger next to them, kind of a con vibe.

But of course we were there for the music! And it was fuckin amazing. The emi evans/j'nique nicole duets😭These were special orchestral arrangements specifically for this concert, and the way the sound of the orchestra fills the space, how you can see a phrase physically ripple across the orchestra... I don't get to go to a lot of concerts but I really should try to go more often, because it's something else to hear orchestral music.

The multimedia elements also worked really well - every piece was accompanied with backing videos using either demosceney abstract visuals or images from the games, along with text that told a short story over the course of the concert, with some segments voice acted by the English voices of 2B and 9S (Kira Buckland and Kyle McCarley, who have previously made their own performances of the original Japan-only concert readings). I won't spoil the story in this post since there are still concerts to come, but it was... not that substantial I'll admit, but sweet, and a nice framing device to create a flow through the songs and various moments from the games.

Hearing J'nique Nicole's voice live though, that was incredible. Emi Evans was there just as last time, and just as amazing as always - but this time we had both of them on stage together, and it was absolutely sublime. We all went wild. They performed duets in several songs, with the standouts naturally being A Beautiful Song, Ashes of Dreams, and of course Weight of the World. I think we all thought that was the end because we gave it a standing ovation but then Emi came back out to perform Kainé. After that we got into the groove of standing up and stood up again like three more times lol.

Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito showed up at the end and made a bunch of rapidfire jokes in Japanese that the translator couldn't keep up with, bless her. But we got to give them like the fourth standing ovation of the night, and made a lot of noise when Yoko Taro suggested it would persuade the president of Squeenix to fund a sequel. I'm sure they appreciated it lmao. I think it must be so weird for Yoko Taro to go from someone with a career of niche, unsuccessful games to being internationally renowned to the point that a massive auditorium full of people in multiple countries will go absolutely nuts just to hear him speak a language we mostly don't speak.

Good mix of people who were at a NieR concert for the first time and people who'd been to the last one. There was a guy near me who had apparently been to the Berlin concert just a few days before, and snagged a ticket for this one literally yesterday just to get it again with better acoustics. I respect it lol. Everyone I spoke to was remarkably friendly - last time I went to one of these things I felt really nervous about approaching anyone but it seems I've gotten better about that kind of thing in the last few years. Anyway, people had come from all over - I chatted with a pair of Americans from Boston all the way down the merch line.

Here are some pictures, mostly of cosplayers. I am still getting used to shooting with the DSLR my friend gave me, so not all of these came out perfectly steady and some of them the exposure wasn't right,, but there are some nice ones in here...

bokeeeeehhhhhhhhh... I spoke a bit to the owner of this 9S doll. Her mum was there too, and it turns out she's a haberdasher who makes cosplays for her daughters and has now done over 70. That's a legendary mum right there.

The 9S cosplayer here gave me his instagram. he's a pro photographer so I feel a little embarassed at the quality of the photos I took of him ^^'

I got some merch too, since I understand it's the main way events like this support themselves.

That Kainé thing isn't a print, it's a vinyl record with a few arrangements of Kainé. Though I was totally prepared to buy it as a print because it's a lovely drawing. I don't actually own a record player, but one day I'll surely listen to it ^^'

I was too fatigued to make a cosplay this time, but I'm sure there will be another concert and next time, for sure, I will go as Devola or Popola. Unless Yoko Taro comes up with another redhead character in the meantime lmao.

-catalyst feels like someone who would like games/series with intricate worldbuilding and lore, probably more than the game itself. not Skyrim but weirder stuff. i almost made her game Pathologic Classic HD out of self-indulgence but ended up choosing Morrowind instead. in my heart she's a closet TES lore fanatic.

-i think newcastle is kind of a nerd and was into stuff like DnD, chess, comicbooks, and RPGs like Final Fantasy VII. but i think he wanted to ease Vantage into the JRPG genre so he had her play Kingdom Hearts instead. this was exponentionally more confusing to her because she doesn't know anything Disney-related at all

-octane just wants her to get jumpscared and film her reaction for views

-i made valk reference Heavy in a previous comic and thought it would be funny to have her talk about team fortress 2 again

-in my head vantage isn't scared of revenant so he decided to inflict psychological damage on her instead by introducing her to games that will give her a gambling addiction LMAO)

can i say. first of all. wtf are these graphics. what were they thinking and why does it kind of work with the atmosphere.

second of all. introduction of the coffee. does carzzy like coffee? is that his coffee? who made the coffee? all differs depending on the video.

introduction of the smiley "i agree to anything carzzy says" humanoid. he has that rookie vibe here like he's very unsure of himself but oh boy marek, carzzy is not a stable anchor.

also, carzzy calling humanoid "marek brazda" every chance he gets, istg. he 100% says it just because he loves how it sounds. brazzzzda.

cut to carzzy calling him unskilled and we get the classic "i've been insulted by carzzy" face. i love that he has these patented modes. so far we've had "carzzy loml you can never do anything wrong (meant ironically)" and "carzzy loml 🥺🥺 spare me anything sir i haven't but a penny" (it has been 40 seconds)

face is exemplified when carzzy goes out of his way to place his cup on (what i assume is) humanoid's desk, cause of course he does.

humanoid gets asked a question about mid and so carzzy is RESPECTFUL and lets humanoid speak.

i realize at this point there are so many things to point out but i'm too lazy to screencap them. first of all, carzzy complaining about pantheon/taliyah and humanoid who was not listening at all just going "nice :)" and carzzy also needs a moment to register and then goes. "no." and then they start arguing about something with approx. 0 heart and 2 braincells of what they're arguing about. and then carzzy does the thing where he lets humanoid get the last word (thing he does all the fucking time) and just hums like a girl cause SHE IS down bad. one of the most important things about carzzynoid is their nonchalant complete factually incorrect statements. can guarantee you they think it's the funniest shit ever, however, it's only funny if no one laughs. they have these voices where you can tell they're trying to make themselves sounds as uncaring as possible. anyway yeah guys, g2 is 10th, 9th place team for sure.

CAN I SAY. carzzy's heterochromia is insane in these early videos. every close-up on his face i go woawwww!! idk if it's more noticeable or if i'm just going insane. anyway humanoid goes on to end the segment with "pojďme se na to společně podívat!" Sen - he uses any information you gave him to win internet arguments. Instead of L + Ratio he hits them with the horrors of history to shut them up (anyways unrelated but he bullies kids in video games)

Kamakiri - 'im gonna give you a fucking lobotomy if you dont stfu.' He will act like he dosent care but hes secretly kinda interested in it all. If he has questions about it he will look them up himself later instead of asking.

Kuroiro - the dark history ranting is his favorite thing ever. He spends a little bit of his free time looking up some dark history himself so he can maybe tell you about something you haven't learned yet yk.

Kendo - idcidc shes a major history nerd. She loves all things history related so even if its a bit dark shes interested. Shes only interested in history because shes a strong believer of learning from your mistakes and whatnot and she thinks its important to know.

Kodai - shes indifferent about it. She thinks its a little weird but shes not one to judge since everyone has their stranger side ykyk? She just silently listens along to whatever her s/o is ranting about this time lmao

Komori - she finds it a little creepy but at the same time she cant stop listening to her s/o talk about it lmao. (Just dont give her these 'fun facts' late at night or else she might not be able to sleep)

Shiozaki - shes happy to hear you talking about something your interested it but she does worry a bit about those who were affected in the past by something thats just a fun fact now (if that makes sense) like shes interested in the topic but at the same time it makes her a little sad that people actually had to get lobotomys at one point ya know?

Shishida - he seems like the type to be excited to learn something new so every time his s/o tells him about something that happened a long time ago like that hes real happy. (Despite how dark it is)

Yes! It seemed like that guy made a lot of claims about what Miu wanted and how she felt that weren't true but that their parents believed anyway. Seeing as Kaito is generally the one who's more hung up on what happened back then (namely that he didn't notice sooner and stop it), it makes sense that that would be why he overreacts to anything that even slightly reminds him of it. If the last time someone tried to tell him they know what she wants, they were trying to manipulate him into letting them hurt her, he wouldn't exactly be keen on letting anyone else get away with it, even if their intentions are innocent.

On that note, hot take but I think that whole situation is also the reason he gets Weird™️about Takuma asking about what he loves about Miu. Cuz understandably I feel like most people's initial reaction to him saying he's not into his sister seemingly unprovoked is "hey what the fuck?" But like,,,in the context of everything they've been through, I can see how being asked if there's some reason he cares about her so much would read like an accusation to him. Like he was being compared to that guy. I mean, it kinda was a weird question to begin with--why would he need a reason to care about his sister?

Slightly unrelated tangent but I personally always found it weird that the other characters acted like it was weird that he worried about her so much. Like bro that's his baby sister. She's 2 apples tall. Even without the tragic backstory any half-decent brother would be worried alkkfdjak.

Anyways on the note of what they were like in the Before Times, just the other day I was telling one of my friends about how much I love MarineAngemon as a partner for Miu. Bc thinking about how...oh hell I haven't played this game in a MINUTE, I think it was the fake Syakomon(?) that accused her of pretending to like things she hates and hate things she likes + how she loved how cute the amusement park mons were + the way Kaito talks about her I feel like he's not actually being totally delulu about how cute she is. I feel like she probably did act a lot more cutesy but stopped because of Certain Life Events. So having her mega be something very small and very cute but still very strong is Neat, I think. Like she got a piece of her real self back and isn't so afraid of it anymore.

I'm also pretty positive that Kaito's always been a doting loser alfdkja. Like,,,his response to Minoru being worried about him letting Miu boss him around was just "hey how long do you think I've been doing this big brother thing for" lmao. Literally 0 backbone on that boy. As long as it isn't dangerous, Miu gets whatever Miu wants ToT And Miu saying he used to always pat her head wtf why are they so cute.

ALSO I NOTICED THEY BOTH REFER TO TAKING DOWN THE MASTER AS GOING AFTER THE "FINAL BOSS" SO YOU CANNOT TELL ME THEY DIDN'T PLAY A LOT OF VIDEO GAMES TOGETHER. NERDS WHO BOTH USE VIDEO GAME TERMINOLOGY IRL I LOVE THEM.

Nash I relate to on a spiritual level like oldest sibling, knows pretty much everything that his sibling are still trying to figure out, couldn't care less, doesn't care less, etc etc like join the club lmao. Obviously though, being in the Hawthorne family and having three extremely clever younger brothers all competitive in their own way, he's definitely felt undermined before and probably just stopped trying to be better. And I get that, even if I still try to be better than my own younger brother but he's just living his life, razzing up girls as one does lmao.

And his relationship with Libby...don't get me wrong, they're adorable together, like he's persistent in making sure she's secure and stable and his overprotectiveness is well...ehem he wants this things as they are lmaoo. But even so, I'm still a little wary about him because of his dating history but who knows maybe he'll prove me wrong.

Avery's so funny like first thing she thinks about when meeting any of the Hawthorne's (the grandsons I mean) is damn he's hot. And I mean after everything, I just love her, her reactions are on point, she's just trying to figure stuff out lmao.

so i've touched on this before, but the subject of neurodivergent characters in slarpg is complicated because the subject of my neurodivergence is complicated. i apologize for how lengthy and indirect this is lol

i know i have to be some flavor of neurodivergent, i just don't know what exactly because i've never gotten a diagnosis. might just be one of those things where nobody bothered to check when i was a kid because i had no problems in grade school. in recent years i've come to terms with the fact that i almost definitely have ADHD - basically all of the symptoms fit, from the ways my horrible executive dysfunction works (it's a miracle i finished a video game!!) to lesser known aspects like RSD. but from there things get blurrier. there's overlap in experiences between being a socially anxious nerd with ADHD and being autistic, and i feel like i could genuinely go either way. sometimes i'm like "no, i'm definitely not autistic because XYZ" and other times i think about the way i hyperfixate on my interests and overthink every social interaction and go "yeah i probably am." i'm constantly back and forth on this

all this is to say, with how much of myself i put into my character writing, that Mystery Neurodivergence of mine is going to bleed into it. i'd said before release that you could honestly make a case for all of the party members being neurodivergent or specifically autistic or whatever because of how much they're influenced by my own feelings and experiences, even if i didn't specifically set out to write them as any particular type of neurodivergent. (although allison definitely has ADHD, as everyone who inspected the tubes in faith's office knows lmao)

the funny thing is that, while i'd thought about how the party members could be read that way quite a bit, i didn't consider zinnia. i mean, okay, she's clearly got PTSD and some other stuff going on, but when you say "neurodivergent" i assume you primarily mean "autistic," because i've seen multiple people interpreting her as autistic. and it's like... yeah, i see it. that may not have been a label i gave her when writing her, but i see it. i really do

this probably isn't the straightforward answer about zinnia you were hoping for, but the truth and my own relationship with neurodivergence aren't straightforward. but, basically, if you feel like you relate to zinnia on that level, i may not have sat down and been like "i am going to make this dragon autistic," but it also didn't come from nowhere. i relate with her a lot, and i'm nebulously neurodivergent. so... yeah, it makes sense that she would also come off that way

How I got here

So I used to have another account on here years ago which I stopped using years ago. Something happened at that time where I had to make a new account (which is the one I'm currently using) After that I gave up and used Devinart for about a year or two. However, in my opinion, that app sucked because the app crashed all the time, and its not the best place to go to for 34 as there were a lot of haters in the platform. Let me just say I didn't really get nice words sent to me, while I tried to draw different characters and fandoms like what I do now, versus my best friend @anonymousartist1727 who paints all of the time, lots of people love her paintings (which she's my best friend and don't get me wrong and her paintings are AMAZING I love her art so much she's so freaking talented! ) but it made me realize Devinart wasn't really fit for my art “type” so I stopped my toxic relationship with Devinart and came back here realizing I left my newer account here unattended, so I was surprised when I got a notification from Tumblr saying “your account is two years old!!!” :D

Smg34 or ships in general:

But of ALL fandoms I have been really REALLY fixed on Smg4 and especially Smg34. I understand why some people think they’re brothers, but it was never said by Luke or anyone, plus there’s a lot more sussy gay moments between them vs being siblings moments. Also they have joked about it before- And yeah they look similar but that’s how it always was even with the Mario models. But this is my opinion and belief of that, the thing is if there’s a person who only sees them as siblings and in their head that’s how it is for them then that’s how it is. It’s their world not mine. And I respect that.

Dungeon and Dragons

1. Taylor found out about D&D from her dad (who is an absolute need about it. He has figurines and a shit ton of dice.)

2. She started out playing the board game with her dad and later moved to the video games.

3. After Taylor became an even bigger nerd, her dad gave her his collection of dice (but not the figurines because he could never let them go.)

4. Once Taylor went to college, she never really had time to play the game.

Hair

1. Taylor’s natural hair color is dark red.

2. Over the years, she dyed her hair multiple colors: green, black, red, blue, you name it.

3. Taylor would bleach her hair often to have more vibrate colors.

4. She decided to keep it pink during college because she felt it suited her best.

Phone (not very self-explanatory but it's okay)

1. Her phone case is a Pinkshift album cover that she got for her birthday.

2. Ger lock screen changes constantly.

3. Most of the time it is a cute picture of her and Daniel.

4. Taylor somehow convinced Daniel to have a matching lock screen with her.

5. Her home screen also changes frequently and it's usually a picture of her and Andrew.

6. She got to Andrew to have matching home screens, which took lots of convincing.

Favorite things

1. Taylor’s favorite colors would be darker colors. She mostly likes greens, pinks, and purples.

oh my god i never told you guys abt my disaster twins competitive pkmn players concept. one sec ill put it under a cut for you bc this might get long lmao

so basically. gen 9 came out, and the boys, in their recent-switch glory, were like omg hell yes. game time. donnie and leo both get violet and mikey and raph both get scarlet (theyve got their own games bc they would tear each other apart if they had to share physical copies trust me) and generally trade around exclusives and chill etc etc. also while im on this leo picks quaxly, mikey is a toss up between fuecoco and quaxly, raph picks fuecoco obvs, and donnie picks sprigatito, as does april when she gets her own copy of violet later (which she honestly only chose for the loyalty points lmao she likes karaidon better)

anyways i was saying. donnie is one of those nerds who like perfectly iv trains his normal ass in-game team and builds perfect compositions around typings and looks up the gyms types n stuff and he was SO excited when he learned abt tera types and how they impacted team comps

leo on the other hand has the messiest type crossover and team comp EVER but still manages to thrash his opponents bc he uses really good movesets and strategies

the twins get into watching competitive videos while they play violet in silence together (hashtag parallel play) until donnie eventually starts commenting on weird stat spreads and leo eventually bursts out about shitty move choices and weird sets, or leo starts showing donnie videos abt odd pkmn getting high in latters, and then they start watching showdown battles...

and they lightbulb.

donnie loves building teams more than anything else, loves making them efficient as humanly possible.

leo loves showing the potential of odd pokemon and would kill for a good strategic challenge after all this time (hes been protecting against nemona and using electroweb against gym leaders, poor guy).

and, well, its not like you need anything special to get on the ladder in violet...

they start out simple, donnie building a basic team and leo reviewing it before going at the basic gen 9 ladders.

they kind of wreck house.

they just start going at the ladders with that team in their free time, then a different one when they get bored, then one with a few oddballs when donnie decides to ask leo what pokemon he wants to use, then they get kind of bored of just paldean pokemon so donnie gets to work understanding showdown...

but while its fun, they dont have anyone to brag to, because their brothers have no fucking clue what theyre talking about.

donnie has experience with youtube, right?

so they set up a little joint thing; a channel called disasterx2, no webcam, just videos about ladder battles. they end up specializing both in unique teams and movesets and in just vids about breaking down walls in ladders with a normal team. what makes both nifty is that donnie explains the whole team comp in a separate video to the battles, and the aesthetic quality is improved by donnies sensibilities and mikeys input (he was absolutely excited when they asked him to help with it. leo was no help. so much offense, actually, i have a feeling his fashion sense is good but the moment you try to make him make something look good visually on its own hes screwed.), and leos strategies are batshit, and ofc the boys are the boys, they go on tangents sometimes when they do real-time audio during battles and sometimes they just. dont cut them out. raph and mikey make guest appearances sometimes, april cheers them on on occasion, her and raph are very relieved bc its finally something non destructive they can spend their time on, its all great.

leo very often picks pokemon and movesets out and then donnie provides the pokemon (through breeding and stat spread tweaking, because god knows hed love that nerd shit). donnie likes it because 1. how leo uses those outlier pokemon is very interesting and 2. it gives him an opportunity to think about how to apply the right stats, natures, etc to apply to the pokemon and moves leo chose.

one of my favorite ever headcanons is that leo gets quiet when he focuses. like, dead quiet, and terrifyingly quiet. hes well known in their fandom for being very chatty over voiceover and then pretty quiet whenever hes playing challenging battles. donnie doesnt understand the strategies all that well so when leo gets too focused he just talks a lot abt the stat spreads and they add extra text to the video lmao. sometimes they utilize their clueless family members to have them ask questions they wouldnt have considered due to their knowledge in videos, sometimes donnie snags mikey while leos too quiet when theyre doing real-time audio, etc the fam knows theyre just glad theyre having fun

i get that woobifying villains is by no means a new thing in fandom but i think it's the lack of self-awareness in doing so that's what makes it so frustrating nowadays.

like i'm sorry people are absolutely allowed to unabashedly woobify the big bads and villainize all who oppose The Fave but for the love of god they have to have the nuts to ADMIT to doing so. this need to always engage in media with this I Am Very Smart And Here's Why My Faves Are Objectively Superior lens is actually hair-pullingly annoying.

Absolutely agreed; I'll still find the perspective annoying, but I'm more inclined to respect someone who's at least not hiding the ball. I really do think so much of the issue is that people are not just insisting on ontological good and evil but furthermore are basing it entirely around the character they've projected onto. It's protagonist-centered morality at its finest.

I will say, the pseudo-intellectualism in itself isn't terribly new. Old internet fandom was rife with people, usually cishet white male nerds, who would come up with Very Smart reasons why their favorite character (usually either their self-insert or their waifu) was better than everyone else. Now, your average non-terminally-online person thought they were full of it and said so, but they said it at the risk of being booed off the platform, and plenty of comic book and video game executives would happily hand this demographic everything they wanted on a platter and they'd accrue a following of like-minded people who were all too happy to do their bidding. There are many intricately-crafted essays that could be written on how gender, race, and sexuality played into this (particularly given, again, the demographics catered to by the aforementioned corporate shilling), but it was still something people did, and those who had the social power were given the most airtime.

I think the main reason for the shift is that the language and priorities in fandom spaces have been increasingly oriented around social issues over the last decade. That coupled with the general public shift toward more liberal politics has meant that what is considered the Intellectual Take, within the pocket of fandom prone to respecting them, is now more likely to come from a left-leaning queer woman (still white tho lmao). So instead of hearing about how my fave is better because he's so much more logical than those bleeding-heart liberals, you hear about how my fave is better because she's so much more radical than those oppressive conservatives. In either case, of course, "liberal" and "conservative" just mean "characters who do not sufficiently agree with my fave".

What's different is that people were more straightforward back on their forums and LiveJournals in 2007 rather than pretending this was really about a broader issue and not like, which two pretend people should kiss, but the result was functionally the same. Honestly, as frustrating as fandom is now, I think it's actually gotten less so compared to what it was fifteen years ago; the greater diversity and larger population mean it's easier to find like-minded people rather than the entire group being dominated by That One Headass White Dude. And you can tell, because that guy no longer has the clout he used to, no matter what buzzwords he hides behind, and depending on your fandom, he is not happy about it.

hello friends! i suppose i should introduce myself now that the game is fully released: my name is sarah, but you will know me as the abel simp anon :) (also, in the q&a when you said you were desperate to find out who i am.. i actually lost my mind slightly because i admire you all so much, i couldn’t stop thinking about it😭, so thank you for being so lovely!)

i wanted to try to keep this as short as possible but i am known to ramble so hopefully that’s not too annoying! (edit: this ask is very very long, i just had so much i wanted to say, apologies in advance!)

firstly, i want to say thank you for being such a welcoming community - i’m pretty quiet and i don’t really share my interests much irl so to have this community means the world to me! i want to give the biggest thank you to you, the it lives project team, because without you guys none of this would’ve happened. i know it’s said a lot (but it’s true) how IMPRESSIVE this whole project has been from start to finish, i am honestly in awe of you all. from perfectly building upon already loved characters to creating your own, to your incredible world building and art (and i don’t even want to think about the nightmare that was programming all the many many variations), your storytelling capabilities are off the charts, seriously! i also want to quickly say that the few people who sent asks in about me made me feel so cool, like a tiny internet micro celebrity😭

i wanted to tell you a little bit about me! first of all, i’m british, so feel free to now read all of my asks in a silly little accent☕️. fun fact: i’ve followed lindsay for quite a long time and saw her original post at the very beginning asking if anyone would be interested in helping to create a third instalment… i actually almost signed up to be a writer on this project as i’m an english student and an avid it lives stan*, but i knew that with my schedule with college i wouldn’t have been able to give it the time it needed and deserved, but retrospectively i definitely couldn’t write anything as incredible as what you guys have produced, and as much as i would’ve loved to be on the team, being a fan has been the best experience i’ve had in a long long time!! *i am actually such an it lives nerd that i once made a powerpoint to tell my friend the entire plot of both ilitw and ilb, and she is eagerly awaiting for when i give her a powerpoint on the plot of ilw😭

i spent so many hours on friday unprivating all my ilw posts as, before this, my blog was completely empty of fandom posts, as like i said before i’ve always been pretty insecure about sharing my interests, and i grew pretty fond of my ~mysterious anonymity~ so feel free to see how long i’ve been secretly reblogging everyone’s posts for now that they’re public lmao

i also finally started speaking more in the discord yesterday (here’s to boosting your self-confidence!) and someone told me that’s how they figured out who i am, so i’m very interested in who that was and how they knew it was me👀

this project has seriously changed my life and i’m so sincerely grateful for everyone involved, you all have such a special place in my heart. thank you for taking care of ali, kassie, and sadie (my devon, harper, and rowan) they could not have been in safer hands🫶 (because i do not have it in me to do a disaster route, they are all ALIVE and HAPPY and abel and sadie will get married and live happily ever after)

so far i have cried 4 times in the last 2 days because i’m so devastated about this project ending, in fact i have an 8 minute long video i sent to one of my best friends just talking and crying about how much i’ll miss the game despite the fact that the community will always still be here (i’m just very dramatic and emotional in case you haven’t noticed that over the past year or so😭)

let me wrap things up because i’ve definitely overstayed my welcome in this ask😭 i don’t think i’ll truly be able to put into words how much this project has meant to me over the last year or so, and it has been an absolute honour to see you and your project grow and flourish. but most of all, it’s been a privilege to be your abel simp anon and it’s safe to say this is an experience i’ll cherish forever and never forget
