-----
Aziraphale finally slipped out of bed to brush his teeth, and upon seeing his reflection, decided to give up on trying to straighten up his hair. Feathers and water didn’t get along very well, he’d discovered. Most mornings, he’d go down fully dressed, ready to face the day, but this wasn’t like the other mornings. He was tired, emotionally empty, but also feeling lighter than he had in months.
He walked barefoot, still dressed in his light blue pyjama, already eager to know what the demon had prepared for him.
Because now he knew him enough to know the demon’s love came in the form of gifts and care. He’d been silently protecting his angel for millennia, never expecting anything in return, because that was the way Crowley loved.
Aziraphale felt his stomach flutter as he went down the stairs and was greeted by a small assortment of cakes. It was clear he’d slept more than usual, if the demon had had time to go out with the Bentley and return with them. It looked like a bakery had taken root in his kitchen.
“Are we celebrating something, Crowley?” He asked instead, reaching where the demon was fretting around, trying to fit them all on the table.
Crowley jumped, startled, but once he settled, he smiled widely as the angel’s lips set themselves on his cheek, pyjama clad arms pulling him closer. They were now both used to those casual shows of affection, and yet the demon felt he’d never get enough of them. Every time the lips of the angel met his skin, he felt like melting, laughing, screaming, crying. It was too much. Everything was too much. He’d guarded himself, hiding behind his lenses for too long to just know how to finally let the angel in.
“I just, um.” Crowley wasn’t sure how to explain it, blushing as he turned to look at Aziraphale in the eyes. How to explain how useless he felt at comforting the angel, how useless it felt to tell him he didn’t judge him.
That he forgave him, if that was what he needed.
That he wanted to burn the world, burn Heaven, burn the angels, for having hurt him.
That nothing was quite enough to show how he felt.
So he’d done the one thing he knew. He’d always been there, ever since the beginning, doing little things for Aziraphale, bringing gifts, giving him permission to enjoy life. His way of caring for him had always been one of acts of love, silent and rarely expecting anything in return.
And the angel knew. He’d always known that Crowley would be there no matter what.
“I didn’t know —I mean, I wanted to bring you your favourites, but, um… I think I went overboard, but there were too many options and I panicked, so, um, and then…” Crowley could feel himself babbling, trying to explain why he’d stuffed his car with cakes, warning her not to let any of them get even the smallest dent. Never the Bentley had moved so carefully.
“I love this, Crowley. I love you. And thank you.”

I don't think Aziraphale is going to fall
You see, I have seen all this BEAUTIFUL and PAINFUL theories where they think that Aziraphale falling is the ultimate ending... But i don't really agree
We are seeing falling like this ENORMOUS lack of faith or something that GOD sees and goes : "Oh, yeah... You going down" something that can happens in matters of seconds and anywhere in the universe, something INTERNALLY, but i don't think that is how it works...
I see falling more of a... Bureaucracy thing, something that can only be done in heaven and that God doesn't really has any particular say about.
Its not about the actions of the being (of the Angel in this case) but if those in charge knows about it.
And we have 3 clear examples about it.
1) Aziraphale's lies. He lied two times (directly) to the above. He didn't fall.
2) Crowley's Questions. ALL HE DID WAS ASK QUESTIONS. He didn't really lose his faith, he just wanted to know more. But he fell.
3) Gabriel's accions. Is a sin to kill, he tried to, and didn't fell. He went AGAINST HEAVENS ORDERS, and the reason he didn't fell was because IT WOULD LOOK BAD AND BRING QUESTIONS. That's all, that's the reason.
If it was automatic, he would have fell in the minute he went against it all, or when he was going to Alpha Centaury with Beelzebub. But he didn't.
So i don't really think that Aziraphale falling is really a possibility, after all " For one Prince of Heaven to be cast into the outer darkness makes a good story. For it to happen twice, makes it look like there is some kind of institutional problem. "

Summary:
“I choose Crowley,” Aziraphale says, voice both soft and firm at the same time. Meets Crowley’s gaze so steadily, as if it’s easy for him to say those words. And it’s as much to Crowley as it is to the Metatron, as much promise as it is a renunciation, and Crowley’s heart hurts.
“Very well,” the Metatron says. “You will not like the consequences.”
“Damn the consequences.” Aziraphale uses his just-enough-of-a-bastard voice, the one that makes shivers race up and down Crowley’s spine. “You may see yourself out, Voice of God.”
There’s a rustle of feathers, and then the Metatron is gone and the bookshop is silent, save for the ticking of the clock and the furious staccato of Crowley’s heartbeat.
Aziraphale – an angel of grace and poise and grandeur – stumbles. His expression twists in confusion, first, and then pain – horrible, gut-wrenching, unexpected pain – and then he falls to his knees, voice breaking in a pained whine.
“Oh,” he gasps, head thrown back, eyes glazed and unseeing. “Oh, that – damned indeed,” he says, just before he crumples forward and blacks out.
(Aziraphale rejects the Metatron's offer and chooses Crowley instead. Crowley helps him through the aftermath.)
Here's the first chapter of my contribution to @ineffableidiotsbigbang! I've never done anything like this before, so I'm incredibly excited to get this story posted. Big thanks to willow tree for beta-ing this fic, and to willow tea for the absolutely gorgeous artwork that will be posted along with chapter 3!
The finished fic will have approx. 22,200 words.

Can we go back to this for a sec? To Aziraphale having to explain the concept of being in love to the other angels? Because I cannot imagine what a trip it has to be, falling in love with someone when that is literally not something you are supposed to be able to do. When it is something you barely understand. When the object of whatever this is isn't supposed to be able to feel this way either, except as time goes on you start to realize it's happening to him too. And neither of you can actually talk to each other about it.

Aziraphale [about Job being talked to by God]: I don't suppose he's getting any answers.
Crowley: No. But just to be able to ask the question.

I can’t believe I went through all of Season 2 assuming Nina was the stand-in for Crowley when you actually pay attention it’s so CLEAR that she’s Aziraphale. I was tricked by her spiky, sarcastic, cynical outer shell and lulled into a false sense of security by Maggie’s bubbly optimism and wholesome goodness, because on the surface they reflect the ineffable husbands perfectly, in their personalities, their aesthetics, even many of their actions and morals. but not, and this is the real key, when it comes to their “relationship”. but those first impressions really had me damn fooled.
I missed the blatantness of Nina’s “we’re just friends. actually we’re not friends. we barely know each other.” the same thing Aziraphale said in season 1.  the way he still struggles to quantify their friendship when Nina asks. Nina’s sarcasm when Crowley asks about rain and awnings because it worked for him (we all know it LMAO). hell, that whole convo the girls have in the rain is so AziraCrow (“I know. I’m not your type” “...You have no idea” hits so much harder the second time, help meeeee.) “Lindsay” maybe being symbolic of Heaven and Aziraphale’s toxic relationship with them and their abuse? (the handwritten text messages in red pen make me think of angry notes on paperwork, anyone else?) because Crowley has never actually cared about what Hell thinks of him, just not getting into trouble (or him or Aziraphale getting hurt). Maggie is always chasing Nina. NINA NEVER GOES IN THE RECORD STORE. Just like Crowley always goes to the bookstore, to Aziraphale, Zira NEVER WENT TO THE FLAT (apart from The Swap but that doesn’t count imo). Crowley has always chased Zira, not the other way around. Always there to rescue him, always going to him for company, always relying on their shared connection, always US. OUR SIDE. All through season one, he comes to Zira every time to work together, never trying to work alongside Hell in any way that isn’t to save their skins or Earth, while Zira hides things from Crowley because he STILL thinks Heaven is ultimately good and will do the right thing if he can just show them. fix it from the inside.
Maggie working up the courage to finally say something, to put herself out there, while Nina is utterly oblivious and then when she does realise Maggie has feelings, becoming standoffish, putting up that barrier, fighting it, denying it, ITS SO CROWLEY AND AZIRAPHALE IN THAT ORDER. the way I was fooled into thinking Nina’s trust issues are Crowley because he does have trust issues ofc he does BUT Crowley has ALWAYS TRUSTED AZIRAPHALE. has always relied on him. has always been hurt when Aziraphale doesn’t immediately reciprocate the way he expects (the holy water request, the bandstand, the “off in the stars” etc). he’s always the one putting himself forward. Aziraphale has always been the one to second guess everything, to fight their connection, their similarities, their friendship. the girls really made me think it was going to be okay when they sat Crowley down, even as my inner sirens were going haywire about Metatron interfering, they were telling Crowley he just needs to open up and it’ll all work out BUT HE’S ALREADY AT THAT POINT. he may not say it, and by gosh is that part of their damn problem, but he’s always SHOWN IT. he’s not Nina who needs time to heal and recover from her broken trust, he’s always been Maggie believing it doesn’t matter, they’ll end up together in the end anyway AND I WALKED RIGHT INTO THE TRAP THAT THIS MEANT THEY WERE GOING TO BE OKAYYYYYYYYYYY

Both the opening scene and “Every” share a small theme/musical melody that creates a deep emotion context to the pairs inner feelings.
Listen below to how the notes ascend and descend:
Pre-Fall Crowley’s still has an angelic choir, a holy radiance and innocence we haven’t heard associated with him before. The theme sweeps into a bright major as he laughs at the joy of his hard work and the birth of something bright and new.
However, Crowley making a nebula fills him with the same joy as a kiss with Aziraphale. The melody plays in dramatic strings that cry out with a smaller choir which slowly drags away. A melodic interpretation of the fallen angel. Yet, the music falls to minor after the initial hope of the kiss. Sadder. Slowly falling apart.
This isn’t a birth of something new like his joyful nebula, but potentially a loss.
In conclusion: Season 2 is actively slowly killing me. David Arnold went insane this season.
