What's up with the whole noble girl thing for April, do the people of the earth kingdom really think she's a noble just because her clothes are well made? Don't they find her features strange? I know there are dark skinned people in the Avatar world, but I don't remember any black people (I haven't seen much of avatar/korra, I could be wrong). Much less in the earth kingdom, which is mostly based in China.

LONG ANSWER BELOW!

Yes, it is her clothes, but it's more like people look at her as a displaced noble. She's also jumping between small towns so the quality of her clothes is completely different from what they're used to seeing. Clothing is typically a sign of wealth so to them, she looks like a lost or fallen noble.

Personally, the only thing about her features they might find odd is her hair. There isn’t anyone with her curl pattern (that I remember) which is why Suki commented on it being odd. We do see some background Earth Kingdom characters with wider noses and fuller lips so I don’t believe those would stand out to them.

On that same coin, we also see a wide variety of skin complexions throughout the Earth Kingdom, but mainly in their back ground characters.

Now, I’m not saying that the above examples are close to April's skin tone, but I don't think they would consider it strange enough to comment on. If anything, I would say that some of the other Earth Kingdom natives might assume that she has Fire Nation in her blood. Simply because of the Fire Nation’s heavy presence (which causes issues in the comics), and because they have shown in the show that the Fire Nation has the capacity for darker skin tones (even though it was one character lol)

Another reason why I didn’t have anyone say anything about it is because I simply did not want to lol. I didn’t really want to write long passages about people commenting on the darkness of April’s skin. She gets that enough from rottmnt haters lol.

All jokes aside, I did not want her section to fixate on her race. It might be because I’m a black woman myself, but I don’t write race reactions (this is definitely not the best term for it, but it’s the only one that comes to mind) in my personal works or fanfictions. Especially if I don’t think it would serve the greater narrative of the story. At most, we’ll see someone describe her complexion in a POV, but that’s about it.

I’ve been thinking of an idea, but there is so much of it I may just make it an expanded universe for everyone.

It’s a crossover between Avatar the Last Airbender and TMNT which can be done in either universe

1 Premise: When Shredder and Krang accidentally teleport former Fire Lord Ozai to TMNT 1987 universe, Aang goes to the spirit world to figure out how Ozai disappeared from his cell, upon finding out The Gaang, Azula, Ty Lee, and Mai transport themselves to New York 1987, confused the group meets a News Report April O Neil and she takes them to a place to talk along the way they are attacked by Foot Soldiers (including 1987 versions of the Foot Tech Ninja, Foot Elite, and Foot Mystics) the group holds their own but are eventually saved by the Turtles. The turtles are shocked to see them bending but are impressed by the “Ninja” skills of Ty Lee, Mai, Azula, Suki, and Zuko. They all get together to see what is going on, unbeknownst to them that both of their enemies have joined forces.

I think this would be really fun and again you take it pretty much anywhere, I can also really see Azula and Karai helping each other out on their roads to redemption.

Yippee art!!

I finally got the motivation to draw something other than tlt! Honestly I'm loving the Mabel and Medix art especially, Mabel and Iroh and Medic (and to an extent rev. Putty) have been on my brain a lot recently.

I also wanted to draw Demo cause he's underrated and adorable to draw, and like I wanted to do rise!April cause her design is cool and and I did my oc Clove cause he's so cool and Eyedress and the final and is Spinel is just silly. Oh and idk anything about Taylor but she has a cool design

Ok thst wasn't the final and, but I wanted to draw Armstrong and Khalil's dynamic!! Khalil trusts Armstrong the most of the tombsonas and is very attached (and lowkey possessive) of him. Armstrong was the first one to treat him like a person and not just someone who tried killing 3 different people in the span of 10 minutes (cause Khalil desperately needed someone to treat him like a person)

Just read the new chapter of @sodaspons's Atlas and just... I can't believe she cycled through the whole range of Encanto songs between Waiting on a Miracle > Surface Pressure> What Else Can I Do?

This probably needs some explanation huh?

Top right is April O'Neil and Angel Jones (taking heavy inspiration from both 03 and the IDW comics for her design with a healthy dose of Rise! April with her weapon)

Bottom right is Karai with her badass new sword (lightsaber) pulling an Anne Amphibia (if you've seen the Amphibia season 3 lightsaber fight). She's wearing the chest and forearm armor as well as the turtleneck of her main outfit with her casual jacket and a pair of cargo pants! Getting away from the Shredder and Splinter= more piercings and midriff baby <3.

As for her hair, I decided to have it grow out a little bit during the last three months and it takes on more of a wolf cut. It's hard to tell but the longest part between her ears is supposed to be the grown out bleached underside.

On the left side is my take on a human design for Vee. I noticed the replacing of her mask braid with a shorter loose one and immediately ran with apocalypse emergency cut. Her facial structure on the top/ younger/ early season 1 one is very much Yoshi's but the bottom is more influenced by Kirby (minus the cheekbones- she just looked too old with 'em) and Casey's probably broken nose.

Her clothes were as close as I could get to the way I draw turtle!Vee with the strap, tank top to mirror her plastron, and baggy pants with a tied belt. This time I made them jeans since they have a better chance of being functional. (This is the second time in a row I've forgotten her scars noooooooognkdnfkd)

If I had colored it, it would be easier to tell but Vee has bleached blonde hair on the bottom one as a representation of her mask (and mild newfound identity). I was originally going to give her a piercing but decided that the kraang (or possibly the Shredder's forces) could've put an ear tag on her like you would with livestock. They cut it off.

this is a BEAST of a fic. ATLA and Stargate (SG-1) crossover, 200k words and multiple thousands of additional words in the extensive author’s notes. it’s PHENOMENAL. there’s such good worldbuilding, interwoven backgrounds, hilarious character interactions (yes, Toph and Jack O'Neill WOULD both independently call Zuko ‘Sparky’), and the plot is FASCINATING. the author also goes deep into linguistics, archaeology, quantum physics, chemistry, etc to explain how they constructed this story and it’s amazing
