Does ElsaMaren have a real chance of being canon considering how Disney treated ValCarol and is treating WolfWren?
VALCAROL
In the first Captain Marvel film, the fandom created a strong shipp between Carol and Maria Rambeau. A certain headcanon that has emerged is that Carol is the stepmother of Monica, Maria's daughter, and in fact the three seemed to live as a family with Monica having two mothers.
The first time Valkyrie and Carol met on screen was in "Endgame", and even with just quick glances the fans shipped, we are like that for sapphic shipps. But the most interesting thing was that Brie Larson (Carol) and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) really embraced the shipp, although Brie didn't abandon her shipp with War Machine (Carol's canon romantic couple in the comics), but it was always interactions about the ValCarol shipp on Brie's part were much louder.
I consider that Valkyrie was a replacement for Maria, Maria was the main shipp, but as she died Valkyrie seemed to be a good candidate for a replacement since the headcanon of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel being a lesbian was always very big and Valkyrie is canonically bisexual. And if you want to compare it to Frozen: the Queen of Summer Marisol with whom Elsa seemed to really have a connection would be Maria, but as she couldn't go to a film Honeymaren was the replacement even with much fewer scenes as Valkyrie.
And what was ValCarol's conclusion? "Captain Marvel 2/The Marvels". Valkyrie was indeed included in the film, gave Carol a kiss on the cheek with a certain flirtatious air and left. But it seems that it wasn't just that, and that Disney actually asked to cut a conversation between them that would reveal that Carol and Valkyrie actually had a romantic relationship in the past, but that it ended and they decided to just be friends.
WOLFWREN
Shin Hati, the original villain of the "Ahsoka" series and Sabine Wren, one of the heroines and a character with almost 10 years of existence. In the series they are rivals and face each other a few times, with Shin almost killing Sabine herself in the first fight by piercing her belly with the Light Saber. But although this beginning Shin never really seemed to hate Sabine, she fought much more on impulse than anyone else. Shin even questions orders regarding Sabine's elimination when a promise was broken. At the end of the first season, after once again failing to kill Sabine, Shin realizes that she has lost everything, was abandoned by her master and is isolated... in the same place that Sabine is. I summarized a lot.
A standard “enemies to lovers” shipp, but a sapphic “enemies to lovers” shipp, which is already better than the traditional ones. And it gained a lot of prominence in the fandom and especially among the actresses who play Shin (Ivanna Sakhno) and Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), and also among the other actors in the series. But in addition to the cast, the “Star Wars” pages began to promote the shipp by making official editions with the actors, reinforcing this magnetic connection between Shin and Sabine.
What will be the future of WolfWren? We need to wait for the second season of "Ahsoka", it may just be queerbait after all, although "Andor", another "Star Wars" series, has an official lesbian couple: Vel and Cnta, but who so far have not kissed and you have to pay close attention to the dialogues and interactions to realize that they are a couple.
ELSAMAREN
What could all this mean for ElsaMaren? That Disney is at least willing to give crumbs to fans of the sapphic shipps, especially when the actresses are very supportive. Rachel Matthews (Honeymaren) is an avowed ElsaMaren shipper and likes to tease the shipp's fans sometimes, Idina Menzel is more neutral on the subject, but Idina is very supportive of LGBT causes and is proud of how Elsa, Elphaba and Maureen were embraced by the LGBT community, even officially just Maureen being part of it. If ElsaMaren is confirmed you can be sure that Idina will speak with great excitement about the couple.
But Disney? Even when she tried to hug ValCarol she was cowardly at the last moment and if we think about Bob Iger's last statements things become even less hopeful. And even if my theory that in fact Honeymaren was created to be Elsa's love interest but this arc was reduced to just concept art and two scenes is real, that unfortunately doesn't mean it can be returned. But I still bet on interpretative crumbs.

As his brothers condition is going downhill, Nie Huaisang finds an array/ritual to bolster Nie Mingjue's core at the expense of his own.
This was so intriguing! I hope this satisfied you, dear anon, but be warned - I teared up a little writing this, so it may prompt waterworks in the reader.

It was spring, and the peonies around Koi Tower were in full bloom, filling the air with the scents and colours of the season. Anyone walking around the gardens should be feeling relaxed and at ease, perhaps even inspired by the beauty around them.
Nie Huaisang was none of that. He walked around the beauty and tried to ignore the emotions churning at his gut.
His brother had been getting worse. This time, instead of simply yelling at him to go to saber practice, Nie Mingjue had grabbed his arm and physically dragged him across the sect in front of every disciple and a pair of visiting merchants that had come to strike a deal on new metal alloys for their weapons. That night, Nie Huaisang had removed his robes before going to bed only to find bruises on his arm shaped in a perfect imprint of his brother’s hand. Deep inside, he knew what this meant, that Da-ge would spiral out of control until he went the same way their father did. If he were a good brother, he would be in the Unclean Realm, spending as much time with his brother as he could before the end.
But Nie Huaisang was a coward, and instead had run off for Lanling where he could cower and ignore reality for a little while longer.
Jin Guangyao was in meetings all afternoon but would meet him for dinner later, and until then, Nie Huaisang had free reign of Koi Tower. He had all of the sect available to him, and yet he could take no pleasure in any of it. He reached into his sleeve for his favourite fan, only to find it missing. He furrowed his brow – had he forgotten it in Jin Guangyao’s room that morning when they’d had breakfast together? Rather than waiting until dinner, Nie Huaisang decided to fetch it immediately.
At least it gave him something tangible to do rather than simply trying to escape from himself.
He found his fan quickly, exactly where he had expected it to be. He grabbed it and turned swiftly to leave, but his long sleeve caught on the corner of a tea service placed carefully on a nearby sideboard. The set went flying, sending pieces scattering and crashing to the floor.
All except for a single spoon that flew toward the tall mirror in the corner, and then vanished.
Ignoring the mess all around him, he stepped over to the mirror and reached out to touch it, only to watch as his finger ‘disappeared’ as well. He put his hand further inside the mirror and wiggled his fingers, and he was able to feel them moving. If he had any sense, he would appreciate that this was some sort of spiritual or magical item that should not be messed with, and he would take his fan, clean up the mess, and leave Jin Guangyao’s rooms.
Instead, he bit his bottom lip and stepped through the mirror.
He was in a lavishly appointed room with treasures on every shelf. San-ge had a treasure room, and he’d never shown Nie Huaisang! He hated being left out of a secret, particularly one that could be so useful. Imagine, having such a secret place to run to if things reached terrible proportions at home. He wandered around, tracing his finger along various items and deducing where each had come from, though there were a handful that were beyond his comprehension.
And then he spotted a familiar sheathed sword. He approached it and reached out with trembling fingers. “Suibian? What is Wei-xiong’s sword doing here? Does Jiang Cheng know?” Sadly, the sword was nothing like a Nie saber and could not answer his inquiry. He noticed a set of shelves beneath the sword with spaces for various papers and texts, and out of curiosity, he pulled out a pile. Some of it was in Wei Wuxian’s handwriting, descriptions of talismans and theories on reanimating fierce corpses with their consciousness intact. He instinctively shuddered at the thought and set those papers down.
But the other papers were in another person’s hand, and after only reading a few words, Nie Huaisang felt a compulsion to continue looking through them all. They were written by the doctor, Wen Qing, and outlined various thoughts and theories regarding the nature of cultivators’ golden cores. She described the process of transferring a core from one person to another in such detail that he could imagine her having performed such a procedure. And then she proposed theories about further ways that one cultivator’s core could work on another. Such as stabilizing unstable cores.
One page carried both her and Wei Wuxian’s handwriting, each contributing to create an array that would allow a cultivator to use their core to stabilize another.
He stuffed the paper in his robes and quickly put away the rest. He returned to Jin Guangyao’s rooms and cleaned the mess he’d made of the tea service. And he waited impatiently until that night to tell San-ge that he would be returning to the Unclean Realm the next day.
For the first time in many, many months, he felt the glow of hope in his chest.

For the first time in many, many months, Nie Mingjue woke feeling well-rested and optimistic for the day ahead. Usually he awoke angry or with a headache, as if he’d overindulged in wine the night before even though he hadn’t touched the stuff since the last cultivation conference. But that morning, he awoke feeling really, really good, and even the confusion it caused him did not hinder the glow of health that left him feeling like he could take on the world.
With a smile, he stretched his arms over his head, listening as his shoulder joints popped. Then with a deep breath, he sat up and swung his legs over the side of his bed.
What the hell had happened?!
The floor next to his bed had been painted, streaks of white and yellow forming a large, round array that covered most of the room’s floor like a strange sort of rug. And lying unconscious in the middle of it was his brother.
“Huaisang?” There was no answer. “Didi? Wake up!” The only movement was the slight lifting of Nie Huaisang’s chest as he breathed.
Nie Mingjue swallowed around the growing feeling of panic rising up his throat.
He leapt off the bed and reached out for his brother, shaking his shoulder and checking to see if he was injured in some way. But his brother appeared fine, simply unconscious – except for one thing. When Nie Mingjue placed his fingers over his brother’s meridian to check his qi, he felt nothing.
“Huaisang, what happened to you?” he asked, lifting his brother into his arms and cradling his limp body in his lap.
There was a light groan. “Da-ge?”
“I’m here,” he replied, unable to keep the worry from his voice. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“I’m just... tired,” Nie Huaisang muttered sleepily.
“No, don’t you dare go back to sleep, not until you tell me what happened.”
Nie Huaisang’s eyes fluttered open and looked up into Nie Mingjue’s face. “I had to make you feel better, Da-ge. It’s okay... I wasn’t using my core anyway.”
Nie Mingjue didn’t understand the array painted onto the floor, but he didn’t have to in order to realize just what his brother was implying. He clutched his brother harder in his arms, ignoring the press of Nie Huaisang’s nose into his neck even as his own tears began to spill over onto his brother’s braided hair.
“How could you have done something so stupid?” he hissed. “I’m supposed to protect you.”
“You can’t protect me if you’re dead like Baba,” his brother replied weakly.
He sniffed and closed his eyes. Whatever Nie Huaisang had done was done, but he would be damned if he wasted the second chance his brother had given him. And though his brother had now denied himself the long life of a cultivator, at least he might now live longer than most Nie.
And Nie Mingjue would protect every day of that life for as long as he lived.

Overall these awards are just popularity contests but I still liked a lot of what I saw. The Favourite Wrestler top 50 actually being half women is great and soon enough it'll be all women and we can finally admit we just don't need men's wrestling any more. I can't believe how insanely popular Cosmic Angels are, especially with the let's say rocky 2023 they had, but I guess some things are just so undeniably great people can't miss it.

I read this theory about how sqx and hx reincarnated into wwx and lz, which I liked but made me think and think and come up with my own theory.

Okay so sqx eventually died as human and let's assume he did reincarnated. Now who do we know that loves fan and have a big brother who also ended up dying. That's right, sqx reincarnated as Nie Huaisang. His fascination for fans came from his past life, in which he used to use a fan as weapon and was powerful with it. This type of thing sticks with you.
But in this life time he has karma to clean, this karma is related to his brother, all the confused feelings that he had regarding all he did, how yet he didn't, he couldn't take revenge. This time is different, this time he could take revenge on his brother. He could have a more easy and swiftly closure with his brother, something that in his previous life he could never.
So he clear his karma by taking revenge for his brother this time.
Meanwhile we can assume or not that Nie Mingjue is the reincarnation of Shi wudu, his karma being quite heavy, besides the whole saber thing while alive, war, being betrayed, killed, and finally years as a resentful corpse. Heavy karma for a heavy thing that he did.
Going back to our beloved sqx. So after clear his karma as nhs, after he died he reincarnated in normal and peaceful lives, after all he deserved receive a lot of good karma.
That until he get in modern days, as he reincarnated as this nerd dude obsessed by a novel...
Now there's one thing missing to sqx and this is He xuan. Hx "lived" for years after sqx died, reincarnated and died again. Untill he himself "died" that would be more like his form as hx cease to exist, disappears, but nothing truly disappears, everything is energy and energy is transformed. So he next life form is naturally a bit different, cause is not exactly a reincarnation, cause he was already dead. So he ended up as a character in a novel, a fucked up character with tragic and dark life, he has karma to pay too. Being trapped in a novel is like being trapped in a loop, at least untill external forces interfere. As he was a ghost, yin energy he naturally ended up in a yin body as a half demon.
So yes, He Xuan now is Luo Binghe.
And Shi Qing Xuan is Shen Yuan.
Shen Yuan fascination for lbh comes from past lives even though he could never realize that.
Time for they meet. He transmigrates. One again he's is in a body full of magic, all he lost has returned to him. His powers, a brother, he can use his fan without anyone picking on him, as he wishes, and it just misses he xuan, now lbh. Than after the whole thing in svsss they finally are able to be together, with all karmas cleared, they can finally be happy together.

This was such a fun stream! Some of the dubbing cast for Marvel and Star Wars franchises announced new movies and characters and Suwabe has now joined the Star Wars ranks!
The last activity was so interesting!! One person would sit in a chair with a dummyhead mic directly behind them. The other seiyuu were given cards and had to read what was written on it all at once.
The catch is that one person is saying something slightly different. The person sitting had to guess what the off phrase was and who said it. The dummyhead was there so everyone streaming could try to guess as well. During Aiba Aina's turn she was able to guess the phrase but couldn't tell who said it.
When she gave up, they all flipped their cards and it turned out Hirarin was the one who said the different phrase! None of the seiyuu could tell. The main phrase was くせになる (addictive) but everyone decided to tease Hirarin when they saw his phrase was クセイギャル (stinky girl)!! He's the least likely person to say something like that 🤣
In the end, Suwabe and Midorikawa asked Hirarin to say it in again into the dummyhead and he used a really sexy voice to say "stinky girl~". Everyone in the comments was talking about how good it sounded lmao!! Hirarin fans don't even mind being insulted as long as Hirarin is saying it lol!
Other notable things that happened:
NamiDai suggested some weird food combos for everyone to try, including bananas with mayo which is supposed to taste like sea urchin
NamiDai and Morimori fighting with real light sabers
Hirarin kindly requesting to join the Star Wars fam after Kase commented that he thought Hirarin also dubbed in the series
Kase (voice of Deadpool) calling Hirarin "Dai-chan" was really cute haha
It was a great time, even tho the cameras kept freezing and comments kept disappearing 😒. I had to go thru a lot of trouble to watch but it was worth it!

I've just been forced to face the fact that Legends fans are a minority and it's really depressing, so now I'm going to think about my ridiculously self-indulgent Rogue Squadron Vestara AU.
The more think about it, the more I question how in-character it actually is for her to choose to do this. If the idea is to choose her own path, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for her to choose a path that still puts her in a specific defined command structure where she doesn't actually have much freedom. Then again, Rogue Squadron historically isn't known for being particularly disciplined.
I guess if all she's trying to do is find herself. In canon we don't get to see her piloting much, but as far as I remember she enjoys the first flight she takes in Ship. I don't think it's too much of a stretch for her to want to exercise her piloting skill more, especially since the Lost Tribe don't really seem to use any fighters, and the helms of those shitty old Corporate Sector frigates would more likely be reserved for at least Sabers.
She enjoys flying, it's not a skill she's had much of a chance to use - at least not in regular ships - and she's trying to explore herself in new ways and stuff. I think it makes enough sense.
In terms of strict command structures, I think it would make a lot of difference for her that in a regular military, everyone isn't constantly plotting to stab each other in the back.
And, like, at this point Syal's more familiar with treason and knowing when you need to defy the command structure than Wedge was at her age. All that LotF angst has to have been good for something, and I've already talked about some of my headcanons for what happened to her after she ended up among the Jedi in Fury.
I'm operating under the vague assumption that this story is supposed to be continuitous (if that's even a word) to Guiding Star, which is the theoretical story that details the events that Syal and Wedge and Tycho and Gavin went through while Revelation but mostly Invincible happened. An important part of her character in LotF is that by Fury, she's come to question her own judgement as much as she questions her superiors, and I haven't planned it very much, but I assume part of her arc in Guiding Star involves her resolving that, and that she now believes she has enough experience to determine for herself whether the current government is or isn't worth spending lives for.
(Side note: 44 ABY is the year Syal turns 27, which makes her probably the same age here as Wedge is in the first X-Wing book, and I love that symmetry, trivial though it is.)
I've been thinking of it as Vestara actually joining the Rogues three or four months after FotJ (on a ten-month in-universe calendar), so by now Ves has had plenty of time to gain experience with X-Wings, and learn from most of the best pilots alive. Also, at this point, Syal's had enough time to consider Wynn Dorvan's decisions as the next Chief of State and decide the GA under him is worth spending lives for. He is a genuinely good guy, FotJ just puts him in bad situations constantly.
According to at least Luke, Daala was doing a fine job until FotJ. Syal wouldn't have agreed with Daala's actions during FotJ, but in the timeskip, at least, I think Syal would have probably continued to lead the version of the Rogues that she inherited at the end of the Second Galactic Civil War.
(Second side note: I'd like some kind of story that actually demonstrates Daala having done a good job as Chief of State.)
The other pilots on Rogue Squadron at this point are a point of much questioning.
I'm going with the idea that there was another reorganization of the squadron after the end of FotJ, to update the roster. At least half the point of Rogue Squadron is political symbolism and representation and stuff, and there are some educated guesses to be made from that.
In addition to Syal herself, a convenient addition is Zueb Zan, the Sullustan who was her gunner when she flew Alephs. That's a relationship Syal already has, and what little there is to see of him in canon makes me like him enough.
The other canon character I can think of to add here is Drathan Forge, Inyri's great-nephew who shows up briefly at the end of Outcast, when they have to blow up the ancient artifacts beneath the mines of Kessel before said artifacts blow up the planet. In that scene, Drathan claims to be a skilled pilot, and says he has provisional Academy acceptance, and that he'd have to keep his grades up for another year. So the end of FotJ is about when he'd be getting in. If this is a few months after that, I'd find it acceptable for him to get into the Rogues on the basis of skill and family history. Hells, Inyri didn't have any formal training.
Anyway, the implicitly successful diplomatic reintegration of at least the major players of the Confederation during FotJ leads to the roster including a token Bothan and also a token Commenorian. The whole Treaty of Vontor issue results in a token Klatooinian or something. Syal herself is Corellian, obviously.
Drathan, I expect, is a representative of the various corporate enterprises currently operated by Lando. I think in Outcast, Lando has a line about how he's selling to the private sector since the SGCW (maybe before that), and if I recall correctly that implies that he's potentially enabling stuff like YVH droids to end up in the hands of enemies of the Alliance.
I'd buy the Alliance having someone who's from Kessel, another one of Lando's operations, in Rogue Squadron as an attempt to convince Tendrando Arms to be more loyal to them.
Anyway, Vestara's role in this is as both a token Jedi and a token ex-Sith. She's not ready to commit to the Jedi path yet, but if she doesn't fully leave the Order and instead is still being trained by Luke on the side, they might play her up as proof that despite the Jedi Order leaving the Alliance's authority and stuff, they haven't abandoned the Alliance completely. That would be especially important in the aftermath of the end of FotJ, and how I've decided the official line of the GA is that Abeloth was an instrument of the Sith. Especially, but not necessarily, if I decide to work this plotline into Voices of the Force, where her influence stretched far beyond Coruscant.
Also, the fact that Vestara used to be a Sith is useful too. Between Abeloth and Caedus, hate for the Sith is probably the highest it's been since... I don't even know. The highest it's been in millennia, maybe. Even Palpatine, as I recall, wasn't nearly as public about it in his life as Caedus was at the end.
If they can show people a former Sith who's been redeemed, the Jedi might prevent public opinion from going so far as to approve, for example, Kesh being glassed and its mostly innocent population killed. The Alliance doesn't know where it is, so that's not an immediate concern, but it is a concern nonetheless.
That's still only seven out of twelve.
I think Vestara's new girlfriend is someone in a position of a friend to the Rogues, but not actually in their command structure, because that way it won't get weird if one of them gets promoted.
Another headcanon I have is that the age of majority in the Galactic Alliance is 14, a relic of the strategic realities of the late stages of the Vong War, so theoretically there's no rule preventing people Vestara's age from having a position here.

More amazing games this last couple of months! Mostly from crowd funds, but with a couple of birthday gifts and the first installment of Zine Club in the mix!!
Here's a breakdown with some "why I wanted to check 'em out" hype!
DCC - Sailors on a Starless Sea: I recently got a copy of Dungeon Crawl Classics, and asked folks in the Plus One Exp Discord for recommendations, because I'd seen a few of 'em talk about DCC. This had at least two people recommend it! So, I'll be skimming it.
Emerald Templars: I was initially intrigued because of the South American creators and focus of the game, and can't wait to explore it further. The art and the overall quality of the book look great, and I definitely love seeing Fantasy stuff that's not Euro-centric.
Lichoma: Billed as a "meatpunk" game, I really needed to know what that meant. It's a dark, violent and interesting game with some neat mechanics (at least per the stream I watched).
Convictor Drive: This hit crowdfunders around the same time as the Dark Souls 5e came out, and I think while the Cowboy Bebop RPG was crowdfunding. So I was on a kick of really wanting to see more Japanese games get translated and brought stateside, which this was. It's an exosuit procedural super-detective kind of game, which intrigued me, even beyond the JP angle.
Overisles, Inspirisles, and the Shaping Deck: This one I'd been aware of for a while, having gotten Overisles in a Bundle years ago. It's an RPG that uses American or British Sign Language as part of the mechanics. It's supposed to help you learn ASL or BSL, and I've always been curious about those languages. The books are gorgeous, and they came with a pin and 2 really beautiful booksmarks
The Wizards & the Wastes: Big fan of Snow's work in general, but what got me (aside from the Howl's Moving Castle touchstone) was the ability to use art you already own (books, poems, music) as a focus for your character's magical abilities. It's a really gorgeous book and I've been wanting to bring it to a table. I also really love the mechanic where you bring someone from outside the game in to solve disputes.
Crush Depth Apparition: Spooky submarine horror is a good concept on its own, but I was also excited because it just looked so stylish. Plus, another thing through Snow's store, so I was into it.
Girl by Moonlight: Sailor Moon but make it Forged in the Dark. I'm in! Partner and I have been watching the original Sailor Moon. I've been playing and enjoying Beam Saber, and I kind of love the way FitD games deal with character growth.
Wreck this Deck: The pitch is: You trap demons in a deck of cards, and actually mark the cards as you go, creating a neat artifact of play as you go. So after a few plays, you have this really ominous deck of cards, some of which are super messed up or even missing. It's a rad idea, and I'm looking forward to messing up a $3 Bicycle deck.
Guys in Chairs/Spin The Bottle: This is part of the Zine Club shipment for the month, but I'm also a big fan of Dillin's work. I heard them play Guys in Chairs on Party of One, and it's a great game.
1978 - The Night They Came Home (and a Trick-or-Treat bag with rollable tables because why not): I backed this before I ever saw Halloween, but having gotten into those movies this past spooky season, I'm really into this. 2-player game where one of you is the killer, and the other is the person trying to run.
Fox Curio's Floating Bookshop: This looks beautiful, pastoral, and I love a good spiral binding. It's a journaling RPG about someone who runs a bookshop that floats up and down the river. It's super cute and I love it.
Nasty, Brutish, and Long: Friends at the Table put me in a revolutionary action mood, but I also really like the work that Not Writing Games puts out. Also been on a bit of a FitD kick lately (as previously established). I'm also going to pass by making jokes about the name.
The Corrupted: The other half of the Zine Club shipment for the month. I've heard extremely good things about this, and zombie horror is a fantastic genre in general. So I'm hype to dig in.
Hark! Says the Frog Magus: When this was first announced, I was bummed because I'd just lost my job and wasn't sure I'd be able to justify a purchase. So, a friend preordered it as a birthday gift (same friend later got me a different gift because they're a monster). Sin's work in general is rad, and this is adorable but also a great adventure, so I needed it.
I will take a second to highlight these two!
They came from the Plus One EXP Zine Club, and the sticker did too! And it's such a rad thing. A monthly subscription that brings some zines to my door, supports indie creators, and keeps the lights on for a community I care about. All Wins all the time.
I also received the expansion for Return to Dark Tower. I haven't really played Covenant yet, but I'm excited to try it out, because it adds some rad new models and some cool new classes, and a whole bunch of new skulls for the Tower.

Cooking something good right now, so while I busy multitasking with that along with the whiteboard drawings, here's some facts about my oc, Vasily Shaska.
Facts about Vasily:
(Based on my TNO AU, Green Scissor Black Shashka)
1. Vasily is born to a family of cavalrymen, sailors, musicians, ballet dancers, and artist in Kansk, Former Soviet Union.
2. Because he was taught by his family, Vasily is a skilled horseman, prolific drawer, great ballet, and is best at playing the accordion and anything that is a chordophone.
3. Vasily's favorite songs are Katyusha, Gandzia, Yablochko, Dorogoi Dlinnoyu, Chernoglazaya Kazachka, Tjomnaja Noch'. Although he sometimes have PTSD whenever On the Hills of Manchuria is played.
4. Vasily learned to speak English from his maternal uncle, who was a composer who traveled to the UK and the US from time to time. Thus how he can speak with Ellio.
5. Vasily was a former personnel of the NKVD in the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet, where during his time was forced to commit horrific acts to supposed traitors and cowards of the Motherland. One time he was ordered and forced to shoot most of his friends in the army during a battle as they had refused to obey the orders of Vasily's commander during the Siberian War.
6. Vasily's close family were all executed by the NKVD after his father and mother are suspected of supporting the enemy during the Siberian War. Thus his defection to the Siberian Black Army and his hatred towards the NKVD. He would, from time to time have visions of the same incident.
7. Vasily can relate to Ellio due to their almost similar conditions they had in the past.
8. Vasily's favorite food are Russian and homemade meals. He's also a big fan of vodka and other alcohols. Although not a fan of matcha due to it's taste, he still buys it in communal markets just for Ellio and tries to make Russian-style matcha pudding with the things available in the city.
9. Vasily is very protective to Ellio and treats him like a young sibling to the point of always having his side pistol (Makarov pistol) ready to defend him whenever they go outside as for him, Ellio is the only "company" he had outside of military life.
10. Although straight, Vasily claims he like both men and women as he does not care about the concept of gender (bourgeois invention).
11. Vasily sometimes suffers from PTSD due to his past as an NKVD personnel. Despite that he still tries to help Ellio's deteriorating state in any way he can.
12. Vasily is very skilled with using swords and is great with guns because of his father and the military training he had back in Irkusk.
13. He has a brown horse named "Makhno", he named the horse after a Ukrainian anarchist.
14. Vasily's real surname is Akan, Shaska is just a fake surname he goes with when he joined the Siberian Black Army.
15. He mainly kisses people who are close to him in the cheek than shaking hands or hug as a friendly gesture. Vasily would kiss Ellio on the cheek or head from time to time as a form of gesture.
16. Vasily has no idea what a "Toppat" is whenever Ellio brings them up, his initial thought about it is that they are just a bourgeois club because of how they wear (or at least how Ellio described them). In relation to this, Vasily does not have an idea about some of the modern things Ellio would say because of the time difference, but he's interested and willing to learn about it.
17. Despite consuming alcohol almost on a daily basis, Vasily rarely gets drunk as he has been used to the effects. Except when he's with Ellio and certain seasons where he instead drinks hot drinks.
18. Vasily's usual equipment are the Mosin–Nagant (Model 1891/30), the Makarov pistol, a shashka saber, and a scissor.
19. Vasily shares his cabin with Ellio, even offering him to sleep in his bed where Vasily would just sleep in a mattress on the floor, but because of the embarrassment of such hospitality given to him, Ellio would request Vasily to sleep on the other half of his bed from time to time.
20. Vasily is taller than Ellio by an inch (which made him sad), but he's also younger than Ellio (Vasily is 23, while Ellio is 25).

12. Crack headcanon
It's only crack insofar as everyone in-canon would think it's weird, but the idea that he spoils his birds so much that they ascend into yao just so they can stay with him longer. Ooh, and the idea I had where he finds a bunch of time-displaced microraptors and raises them into feathery little menaces that obey only him.

Zhihua the Mynah, because she's very good at finding food. Depending on whether it's a cold place or a hot place, either heavy robes or a fan. A small knife or something else small and stabby. Absolutely not his saber. He'll leave that behind on purpose.
Edit: I forgot the elevator. This depends entirely on whether it's pre- or post-discovery of the murder. If it's pre, he'd just want to cuddle his San-ge for comfort until they get found and saved. If it's post, that would definitely be much more complicated. Maybe not an outright murder attempt, but he'd at least try to arrange an "accidental" injury to keep himself from losing his shit.

TF-fandom is unfair about original Star Saber and here's why.
The post of cosmic injustice addressed to Star Saber and what was done to him.
Quite often there is an opinion among fans, at least in the Western fandom, that Star Saber is either the most boring of all the Autobot leaders, or a copy of Optimus from the first cartoon (for some reason, Optimus is not considered boring).
And I categorically do not understand the reasons. It feels like no one has watched the original animated series, but has formed their opinion from someone else's opinion.
Firstly, I can't say that Optimus was originally some kind of particularly three-dimensional character, but we need to understand at what time those cartoons for children were made, and even more so representing advertising toys – thank you that someone has at least some distinctive character traits (Super-God Masterforce is an amazing exception where the characters had characteristics and development). But at the same time, people try to do character analysis even on such meager material, while Star Saber is called a cardboard and that's it.
Secondly, where is Star Saber copying Optimus? Yes, he is already an established leader here, this is not the formation of a character like Ginrai, but even so his control of Autobots is shown differently. There are 3 main differences:
1. In my impression, Optimus and Star Saber share a type of command and control known as "father to soldiers" (of course, a cartoon light version of it), that's just shown from a western and eastern point of view. Optimus is shown as a softer (not in a bad way) and companionable leader, forgiving mistakes and disobedience of his soldiers, allowing himself to have fun with them, but when necessary, he is strong-willed and serious. Star Saber represents his father's indisputable authority, he still cares about his soldiers, forgives them combat failures and is ready to protect them to the last, receiving in return universal respect, love and willingness to help at any moment.
2. Of course, Optimus is often called the main father because of how he protected Spike and hugged Bumblebee, but Star Saber is still the canonical foster father for Jan, and this is a different level of responsibility.
3. Star Saber was going to kill Goryu or even the entire Dinoforce squad, which, for certain reasons, did not happen, but more on that below, and still killed Deathsaurus. Yes, it's all about the difference in ratings in America and Japan, but the fact is the fact.
It seems that there are enough differences not to consider Star Saber a copy of Optimus.
But it's one thing when this is the opinion of fans, another when the people responsible for canonical works hated and spoiled a good character. Yes, it's about IDW.
Of course, it is in principle noticeable that the authors of these comics love Decepticons more and dislike Autobots, but with Star Saber there was a case devoid of any logic and meaning. Only the name and appearance remained of the character's past, everything else was not even perverted or elevated to the absolute, but completely remade, leaving nothing of the character of the original.
And yes, transformers very often represent only a shell with a name, which can change the appearance and character from toy to toy or from cartoon to cartoon. But some characters most often retain at least a couple of features inherited from the original. And here no one tried. Moreover, the reason why Star Saber from IDW could not be an original character is unclear – there was neither a cartoon nor a toy that needed to be advertised and inserted into the comic, as happened with some characters, it was clearly a conscious decision of the authors to make it so.
Someone may say: "But Star Saber is cardboard, of course, they had to invent everything from scratch!". It was explained from above why this is not the case. Star Saber had good starting points for character development. With your permission, I'll offer a couple:
1. Taking custody of a human child. Don't want to include a human? Indeed, these are transformers comics, hatred of human characters is the first point for hiring authors. We are developing it. Could this indicate his heightened sense of responsibility? In the original, he did not have time to save Jan's parents, maybe he decided to replace his parents for this reason? Overcompensation of failure, the desire to fix everything at any cost.
2. Star Saber did not finish off Goryu, seeing how the rest of Dinoforce protect him. What can be extracted from this? Respect for the enemy? Some concept of honor – is it more honest to kill in battle than to finish off a recumbent? Did he not finish them off just because he saw in their behavior a reflection of his team, ready to do anything for their commander?
3. Universal respect. Maybe his squad is so loyal to him that among the entire Autobot command, he is the only authority for them? And that in the name of their leader they are capable of any actions, including not particularly good ones? This could lead to a conflict within Star Saber over both controlled and uncontrolled soldiers.
To come up with these not the most brilliant ideas, I needed to watch the cartoon with my eyes, and not in another place, and maybe think for 10-15 minutes. The one who prescribed him for the comic book either didn't think for even a minute, or hated this character for some reason.
Most of all, it is unclear where the religiosity came from. At the time of the release of the series, there was no Primus in principle, it was not invented yet in Japanese continuity. Is the author hooked on the fact that he sent Jan to study at a monastery school? Maybe because it was closest to some base? Maybe an alien robot is not so familiar with the culture and sent his son to this school because it's still a school? What did the author from IDW think at all, if he thought in principle? Was the desire to shock the audience beyond common sense?
The most annoying thing is that it's okay if in one work they change the characteristics of a popular character that appears often and represents the same thing. But Star Saber is not one of those! He is from an old cartoon, the same old manga and some materials in Japanese that no one translates. Why do this to his possible fans who would like to see their favorite character, who rarely appears anywhere? I have no answers, only an additional minus to IDW and what they have done.
In conclusion, I can't say anything good. IDW and everything they wrote has gained such incredible popularity in the fandom that future works will surely look back at their work to reproduce the success. As for me, undeservedly. And, unfortunately, this may mean that in the future, if we see a Star Saber, he will be inspired by a late image, and the early one will remain of little use to anyone.
I would like to believe the opposite, but it's hard to believe.

At this point, I’m not all that impressed with Grassley. Its MS tech, specifically.
Darilbalde had a ton of features, and it was clearly designed to match the Aerial in versatility. Lighter weight, a javelin that could be dual wielded or thrown, two extra beam saber limbs, feet anchor, floating shields to defend against the GUND-BITs. After seeing their MS get cut into ribbons, Jeturk realised just how OP drones are, and they brought their A-game here.
Gundam Pharact didn't have as many features as the Darilbalde, but at least Elan used it in interesting ways. He took advantage of the terrain and his MS' speed.
The Michaelis has a wired claw arm with beams and the Antidote. Sure, it can be used for both melee and ranged combat, but that's about it. It doesn't even come with handheld weapons.
The Beguir-Pentes are also basically the same as the Prologue, except they have a shield. I was actually expecting the shields to do more, like the pilots would line up in a phalanx and make an impenetrable beam barrier or something. Or split up into a copycat of the GUND-BITs. It’s such a unique and cool piece of equipment. But it’s just the Antidote. Which they obviously didn’t update as Prospera was able to override it.
Compared to the other two, Grassley is just not very imaginative. Says a lot about its CEO, hm?
And Shaddiq didn't strike me as a particularly talented pilot either, at least in this ep. Clearly he wanted to use strength of numbers to intimidate Miorine before the fight’s even started. (”There’s still time to call off the duel.”) But by then, his strategy was to take out everyone before going after Suletta, using the Antidote as backup. He was good at coordination, but I get the feeling he'd lose to Suletta in a one-on-one match. That's why he had the duel be in teams of six. It's almost cheating considering Earth House has 2 pilots.
No wonder he's not a fan of duels. He knows where his strengths lie, and piloting is probably not one of them.

My wishlist for a Fate Route remake
I love what ufotable have done with the Fate/Stay Night Saga. They have given us incredbile adaptations of the Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel Routes, as well as blessing with beautiful tragedy that is Fate/Zero. However, if there's one criticism I have for it, it's that it's incomplete. 17 years later and we're still missing the one that started it all; the Fate Route.
Despite being the face of the franchise, Saber/Artoria hasn't managed to have her moment to shine properly since Fate/Zero and even then, it's very bittersweet. The Fate Route also gave us the lovely Shirou x Artoria romance, which many consider as the definitive ship of the saga. I do think we are way overdue for a Fate Route remake and I think it's best if it happens sooner rather than later. Not only will it give Artoria her much needed spotlight again, but it's also a good jumping on point for newcomers to get into the series. However, what I want isn't a simple retelling of the VN or the 2006 anime with better animation, I want a full remake that actually changes and fixes the issues of both. These include:
Expanding Saber's character more- with the remake, Saber's character development should be a major focus here and that includes her past as King Artoria. One way that can help flesh her out is to add in flashbacks that adapt Garden of Avalon. Not only that, but it would also give some much needed expansion on the knights too.
Expanding on Shirou and Saber's romance- we all know why Shirou loves Artoria so much, but we need to see why she loves him so much. Just like how UBW showed Rin falling for him and HF showed Sakura falling for him, Fate needs to do the same. More scenes should be shown where Artoria starts to question if her relationahip to Shirou is simply Master/Servant or if she truly likes him. A few more date scenes should be added too.
Changing Shirou's characterisation- UBW and HF really did a lot with Shirou's character and they're his best depiction, imo. The Fate Route, however, doesn't really do that. There are times when he comes across as kind of an idiot and he doesn't have as much of proactive role as he did in the later routes. Give those moments to Fate-Shirou, show him getting better at fighting and show his arc about him becoming that great hero he aspired to be.
More Archer moments- I know Archer essentially had his time to shine in UBW, but I think he was severely underused in Fate. Even HF, where he did still die early, had him more of a presence. Maybe we can even see a rematch between him and Saber right before the battle with Berserker.
Caster fight- for all its flaws, Deen's Fate/Stay Night did give a very good fight scene with Caster. This should be implemented in the remake as well and it gives both Caster and Kuzuki a proper send off.
Shirou vs Gilgamesh- since Shirou isn't fully realised yet, he can't have the exact same battle with Gil as he did in UBW. But they should still fight at least once, maybe have Gil overwhelm him before Artoria takes over.
Shirou vs Kieri- have this one be a similar fight to the one from Fate/Zero between Kirei and Kiritsugu. Have him utilise his martial arts skills more and Shirou makes use of his improved projection magic.
A new ending- the Fate true ending is something that fans do want and I think it would be a beautiful way to wrap up the saga. But honestly? I want a happily ever after ending instead and to have Artoria become a human and marry Shirou. I know it's controversial but after everything Artoria had been through, she deserves a happy ending and a chance to finally be selfish for once.
And that's my wishlist for the Fate Route remake.

Fated Rantings: Mordred
I have begun watching Fate Apocrypha pt 2
I mentioned two characters that stand out to me from Fate Apocrypha and while the first is Astolfo the second is Mordred....good lord this poor child.
I can see why she’d be popular for a myriad of reasons. “Saberface” for one is a known inside joke from Type Moon but also a valid marketing stunt because fans do like them a “saber face”.
Others may cast their own worries or beliefs on identity or gender onto her. Many more may simply like her character for far simpler reasons. If anything, I’d argue focusing her on face or projecting your own ideals onto her doesn’t really do her justice.
For one, Mordred is fully aware of their unnatural origins and shared face with their “father” Artoria Pendragon. Fans may like it or find it entertaining but in-universe this can’t be a light subject.
Similarly, Mordred nearly cuts down her master for being referred to as a woman yet is fully fine with dressing as one or things that would be seen as womanly.
That alone tells me Mordred world view is highly complex for reasons that are very similar to Artoria yet also unique. Any fan knows that within the Nasuverse that “King Arthur” acted as a man because women simply wouldn’t be accepted as king. Even if they were chosen by a holy sword.
In this respect, Mordred will also have hard feelings since only “King Arthur’s” “son” could be an heir to the thrown. They were quite frankly done unjustly by the time they lived in.
This was only made worse by the decisions Merlin made while raising and guiding Artoria in the decades prior to Mordreds birth. Merlin himself being fully aware of his own disconnect from humanity.
Truly, a huge reason Mordred even exists or succeeded in destroying Camelot was because Artoria herself acted as a “perfect” king but not a “human”. She suppressed that humanity and you could argue she had a hard time even feeling it due to her agelessness brought on by Caliburn and Excalibur.
Of course, you’re at this point likely asking what this has to do with Mordred or you’re typing a response of hate that a 90s pale as paper man would even dabble in topics that I (in earnest) know little of. To tumblr’s dismay I am indeed a straight male.
I only brought up these views because I do think projecting on Mordred can simplify the depth while the character itself says little on such subjects in story. I’ll see how wrong I am by the end of the anime I guess....
Back to Artoria. Why is the six or so previous paragraphs important to Mordred? Simple. The limited views of women during that era and Merlin’s disconnect from humanity quite literally fucked both Artoria and her “son” Mordred.
From what I understand, Morgan le Fay hated Artoria because (in this universe) they were both full blood sisters yet Artoria was set up for kingship when Morgan herself held the specific magic that marked Britain’s rightful king.
Morgan’s efforts to ruin her sister were wide and many but this directly affected Mordred as well. The very act of Mordred’s birth is rather horrible if you think about it.
The irony is also palpable. Merlin and Urther Pendragon went through some lengths to make Artoria the promised king. Artoria’s upbringing created someone who suppressed her humanity and desires, was rendered ageless by a holy sword, and even invincible by the scabbard Avalon.
But there was one thing Artoria couldn’t cheat, her inability to bear a child with her wife Guinevere. Merlin’s big brain idea was to use magecraft to temporarily make Artoria male or at least a hermaphrodite of sorts.
Morgan caught wind of this, got into the castle, and quite frankly charmed and took advantage of her own sister. This isn’t just sick on the level of “slipping a woman a roofie” but an act of malice.
Morgan’s malice, on top of the magecraft involved on both Merlin and Morgan’s parts, caused Mordred to be born with Artoria as the legitimate “father” but Mordred was rendered a homunculus.
Not only was her face and body a copy of Artoria Pendragon but her lifespan was laughably short. She aged and grew at a rate that’s just sad for me to even think about.
Worse yet, Morgan either didn’t care that Mordred was her child or didn’t see her as a person/child in the first place. The treatment Mordred had compared to her siblings was supposedly quite stark. I do not know if that includes a physical abuse but there is a strong manipulation involved.
In Mordred’s own flashbacks she was shown to be raised solely to sneak into Artoria’s court and seed rebellion. When Morgan saw that this was failing due to Mordred being enamored by “King Arthur” she chose to shatter Mordred’s happiness by revealing her heritage to Mordred knowing full well it’d end in rejection.
Mordred was so sure she had fixed Artoria’s heir issues only to be met with a rejection. This moment is where I see the depth and tragedy of her the strongest.
In Mordred’s mind, she was rejected because because Artoria hated Morgan. She just assumed that as a child of a “witch” born under very dark circumstances that she was hated by proxy.
Given Mordred’s words in the anime I can even infer that Mordred may have thought this, in part, because of her own hatred for Morgan. She says things that display a clear dislike for her mother.
The tragedy here is worse than this. Mordred lived a short life with a mother that thought little of her existence, was told to keep hidden in her armor for most of her career in Camelot, and was an unnatural being as far as the world itself was concerned.
What she wanted was acceptance from someone. She can go on about being a king or what have you but her relationship with her master mage tells me that she just wants some level of acceptance.
This fact alone is what makes Artoria’s flat rejection all the more painful. Mordred assumed it was for petty personal reasons but no, Artoria, Mordred’s ideal king and “father” rejected her based on cold fucking logic.
Artoria, true to her own upbringing, deduced that Mordred did not have the makings of a king. There was no malice in her choice as stated by her in a flashback.
In other words, Artoria rejected her progeny with neither hatred, guilt or good intentions.
Mordred wasn’t even worth feelings of hate or love from her father. That is, by far, the worst kind of rejection you could possibly garner. To be a non factor at all.
Of course, Artoria’s emotions were suppressed not nonexistent. It’s entirely possible that she did hate Mordred during the rebellion but the actual rejection that led to that rebellion is the issue.
The damage was done. Mordred was doomed to fulfill her mothers goals through the faults of Merlin and Artoria. I wont say this makes Mordred blameless entirely given that the fall of Camelot came at great loss of life.
She’s not a saint after all but it is entirely possible to emphasize with her. She wasn’t given a chance to be more than this. Mordred is also far more human and in touch with her desires and emotions despite being arguably less human than her parents.
That is why I find Mordred to hold so much depth. That depth only grows as she interacts with her master in the anime. There’s a complex and dejected soul there, one that will slit a throat yet keep innocent “commoners” (as she calls them) safety in mind.
She has a heart and it is entirely tragic that the failings of her time and parents led her to this outcome.

hi vy! i'm a huge fan of passing days, especially your salem chapters! i was hoping you could clear something up about the latest chapter with mash and lancelot. i'm a huge fan of the fate round table (especially gawain! so happy he cameod in this!), and i'm really curious what you were using to base your dynamic between mash and lancelot on? i always thought they were on pretty good speaking terms post-camelot (their little moment in servafest especially was pretty fun imo, i loved that event), but i wasn't aware there was a time where she was too nervous to talk to him about galahad? was there an interlude i missed? i dont have a lot of servants so its possible i missed something big. thanks!

Now then. What I used to base the dynamic on Mash and Lancelot on? A mix of the FGO events and real life.

For FGO? It started with the recent Halloween Castle Csejite Trilogy Recap event back in October, where it had me play through Halloweens 1 and 2 for the first time, and seeing how Mash was calling out Lancelot back then bothered me a little. Saber Lancelot even canonically disguised himself as his Berserker self so that Mash wouldn't notice him, and she still kept back-talking him. Add in how Summer 3 and 4 had her be suspicious of him, and even when Lostbelt 6 had a small throwaway conversation between them when fighting the berserk Barghest (something about Mash wanting him to focus on the fight), it still bothered me. So I wanted to do something about that.
Especially when there has been no on-screen moment that showed Mash talking to him about Galahad outside of the second Camelot movie, and the films themselves had their flaws in cutting out things.
Real life, though... I took from three specific relationships for Mash and Lancelot.
Me and my dad, my big brother and my dad, and my dad's own relationships with both my maternal grandfather and paternal grandfather - his dad.
Mash's entire dialogue, Lancelot's own grief, and everything else in the chapter is ripped from conversations I had with my dad; the reactions from how my big brother had to smooth tension out with my dad over his weight (let it be said fatphobia was rampant in my house and it didn't help the self-esteem of me or my brother when growing up); and how my dad actually admitted to me he saw my maternal grandfather being more of a father than my paternal grandfather ever was because of my paternal having been... troubled in life.
And I wouldn't know how my paternal grandfather would have reacted because he died a year before I was born - a few days after my brother was born, in fact. All I know of my paternal grandfather was how he was the leader of a very dysfunctional family, who actively yelled at my father to an extent, even smoking and gambling funds away when the house was already poor. My paternal grandfather apparently didn't even see my dad off when he left home at 18 to try to get away from being drafted into the Vietnamese military - only my paternal grandmother did.
Lancelot and Mash had it easy in comparison. Because at least I could give them a happy ending. With me, my dad, and my big brother? We're still a work in progress for the "happy end" part. But there's no yelling anymore at least, and we've had lots of talks that led to apologies and some more understanding. So that's something.
