Another result of the #BleedRed fiasco in the Skype chat. They’re all trying to pull the icebending vampire onto their side, but he’s feeling a bit strained. Like plz help. Don’t want. #Help

can you imagine if everybody who got Airbending took it as a sign that their path was righteous? like idk Daw gets Airbending as he’s thinking of starting his own shop instead of staying in business with his brother and so he’s like “ok I guess this is a sign I gotta strike out on my own, see ya bro!”

Chapter 9
In a tea shop in Ba Sing Se, Fire Prince Zuko sighs. It has been a long day working in his uncle Iroh’s shop. Right now, he just wants to relax. But of course, more customers keep coming in. He sighs once more as he serves the newcomers.
Nobody here in Ba Sing Se knows who Zuko and his uncle are as they pretend not to be firebenders. They are just trying to live a peaceful life which uncle Iroh prefers.
Of course, Zuko is still thinking about his honour. He knows that his father, Fire Lord Ozai, will never accept him, though. He finally understands that now.
As the last customer finally leaves, Zuko enters a room back in the shop which leads to their living room. Yes, they live in their shop. It’s small but cosy.
As Zuko enters, he spots Iroh playing Pai Sho, a board game. Of course, nothing’s new there. “Hi, uncle. I see you are playing Pai Sho - again” he says as he greets his uncle.
Iroh smiles. “Hello, Zuko. And yes, I am. It helps me think” he states as he puts a white lotus piece on the board game.
Zuko sits on a chair across Iroh. “Uncle, I still don’t know what to do. I want to restore my honour and make my father proud of me, but at the same time, I don’t want to catch the Avatar. I don’t want anyone to get hurt” Zuko says as he puts his face in his hands.
Iroh then rises from his chair and puts a hand on his nephew’s shoulder. “To find your path, you must look within yourself. There, you will find your answers” his wise uncle states.
Zuko thinks about it for a while. “And what does that exactly mean?” he asks, confused.
“It means that you need to listen to yourself. What do you want? What do you think is the right thing to do?” Iroh explains.
Zuko then looks at him. “I understand now. But, uncle, what would you do if you were in my shoes?” the teenager asks.
Iroh gives a smile. “If I was in your place, then I would choose friendship over power. There is no reason to rule the world if you have no one to share it with. Loneliness is never a nice feeling” he says.
Zuko nods. He then sighs, though. “I’m sure you know too that the Avatar will get help from the Keeper of the Diamond. Do you really think they will let me in their group? Actually let me help them? I have attacked them and tried to capture the Avatar numerous times” he says with regret.
Iroh then brings two cups of tea. He hands the other one to Zuko. “I believe that if you show them your true self and your true intentions, then they will see it and understand. They will forgive you and let you be a part of their team” he reassures as he sits down and sips on his tea. Zuko nods as he also sips on his tea.
He sighs in pleasure. “Your tea is always the best, uncle” he says.
Iroh smiles at that. “And I am glad to show you the fine arts of tea making” he says, grateful that his nephew helps him in the shop.
Meanwhile in the restaurant, Aang, Y/N and the others are having a conversation. Sokka then looks at Snape. “So, Emo Guy, how come you never smile?” Sokka dares to ask Snape who immediately glares at him.
The others look nervously between the two. Sokka is a very brave soul. He just dared to ask the Potions Master such a question. If it was Harry or Ron, then they would have lost fifty points and even get detention for a month.
It would be more likely for Lord Voldemort to return and become a bigger Muggle fan than Arthur Weasley than for Snape to actually smile in public.
He has given Y/N a few small smiles, but they were alone those times. They were never out in public where others could see it.
Lucius chuckles. “That was a foolish choice, Boomerang Boy” he says. Sokka looks a bit scared. He senses that he made a big mistake.
“… Actually, forget that I said that. How about we get some dessert?” Sokka asks, hoping to change the subject.
Snape still glares at him but chooses not to give a snarky comment.
Ron agrees with having dessert. They then order ice cream.
As they are eating, Y/N accidentally gets some ice cream on the tip of her nose. Lucius notices. “Let me get that off for you, darling he says as he then takes a napkin and wipes it off her nose.
Y/N blushes at that but shyly thanks him. Aang, Katara, Toph and Sokka are a bit puzzled by Lucius’ behaviour but shrug it off. Snape smirks at his friend and Y/N.
He then looks out of one of the windows. “We should probably find somewhere to sleep tonight. It will get dark soon” he states. The others look out the window, too. They widen their eyes. He’s right, have they really been here for almost a whole day?
Aang then counts the money. “Well, the bad news is that we don’t have much money left… The good news is that we do have enough for a cheap hotel” he says.
Lucius sighs in relief. Finally, they can sleep under a roof tonight!
They all then leave the restaurant and find a hotel. A very cheap hotel. They don’t even have beds, only old mattresses.
Lucius sighs in annoyance as the hotel is not up to his standards. It’s better than sleeping outside on the ground, though.
They have to be divided into three teams. Katara, Toph, Hermione, Laura and Vera will share one room. Draco, Ron, Harry, Aang and Sokka will share another room.
As Y/N is about to join the girls, Lucius stops her. He clears his throat. “Since you seem to not get any nightmares when you sleep next to Severus and I, you can join us” he offers as Snape nods.
Y/N blushes but nods too as she walks into their room. There are two mattresses. “We can put the two mattresses right next to each other. That way it will be one big mattress that we can share” Snape suggests.
Nodding, Lucius uses his wand to levitate the mattresses to be right next to each other. After that, he puts his wand back in his cane and lays it to rest against the wall.
The two men strip out of their clothes and take off their shoes as they are only in their boxers. They then lie down on the mattresses.
Y/N puts down her shoulder bag on the ground which contains the two diamonds. She shyly takes off her clothes and shoes too, leaving her just in her bra and underwear.
She then joins them on the combined mattresses. They cover themselves with two duvets. Y/N is lying in the middle while Snape is to her right and Lucius is to her left. Lucius caresses her left thigh while Snape has his arms around her. She’s using Snape’s chest as a pillow.
“Good night” Y/N mutters tiredly as she closes her eyes.
“Good night, princess” Snape whispers in her ear.
“Good night, darling. Sweet dreams” Lucius gently says. She then falls asleep. Both men close their eyes too and fall asleep after a while.

Can you do a headcanon about which element of nature (fire, water, earth and air) best represents each bbc merlin characters?
There are two answers to this - what kind of benders i would headcanon them as in an Avatar au, and which elements would make thematic/symbolic sense.
For the Avatar au, i can't find the post but I think it looked a little like: Morgana is a firebender, Gwen and Elyan are waterbenders, Percival and Lancelot are non-benders, Leon is a firebender, Gwaine is an earthbender, Merlin is an airbender, and Arthur is the avatar. Those casting choices make more sense narratively, but i can't seem to find the post i made explaining all that.
As for actual symbolic representation? That's tricky. Before we go anywhere we need to figure out what each element represents and then sort them all based on that.
So here's what we'll go with:
Water - cleansing, purification, mystery, volatility
Earth - stability, growth, lack of change, groundedness
Fire - passion, life, destruction, anger
Air - change, movement, harshness, lack of commitment
I made sure to give each element a proper mix of good and bad traits, for the sake of nuance. So! Let's get sorting
Right off the bat Uther is very obvious. Water. This might seem odd because it's so peaceful, but water can easily go from calm to stormy. Just as Uther seems like a very moody kinda guy. Not to mention purification bit. That's the whole purpose of the Purge - to cleanse the world of magic.
Morgana also comes very easily. Fire. Not only is it the opposite to water, but she's got the passion, rage, and destructive energy to match.
Merlin, i think, is also fire, but on the flip side. Fire has this duality between helpful and destructive. While Merlin is a kind soul - like a fire creating warmth and light - Merlin can also be very dangerous, particularly to his enemies
Percival is both easy and obvious. Earth. Large, silent, and powerful, but also very loyal and compassionate. Like nature.
Elyan is air. The fact he left Camelot as he did gives me the impression he's a bit of a flighty individual. Probably fears commitment. But he did eventually decide to stay in one place in the end, towards people he felt especially loyal to, which shows his ability to change.
Gwen is a tough one. I'd be inclined to say water, because of purity and cleanliness. She's a pure and innocent person, and like water she is very helpful/useful. And versatile too, as she can fight as well as she can heal
Leon. Earth. Strong, dependable, formidable, and very loyal. If this was a Hogwarts houses headcanon thing I'd slate him as a Hufflepuff
Gaius. Also earth, because while he is also dependable, he's also a bit stuck in his ways.
Lancelot is another tricky one. I can't say water because bro someone that horny can't be pure, but maybe air then? Like Elyan he's flighty and doesn't commit - in fact he gave up on Gwen very easily even though he loves her. Air often represents spirituality too, and Lance is not only dead, but he also died to seal the veil and defeat a race of spirits.
Gwaine. For Gwaine i think he could sort into either air or earth. Air because he doesn't like staying in one place and he's restless, earth because he's strong and dependable and ultimately chooses to stay in one place for Merlin's sake. You can choose which one you think fits him better.
Arthur...probably the hardest one here. He could be air, because he goes through the biggest change/character arc; he could be earth, strong and dependable but also bullheaded af; he could be water, taking after his father and giving him a fancy little opposition to Merlin's symbolism as a show of duality; he could be fire, for his passion and his rage. Ultimately i settled on water, but not because he takes after his father. He's water because where Uther's ocean was stormy and dangerous, Arthur's is good and calm. Sure he's moody, but he also keeps a level head in order to ensure the safety of his people - just as water stays calm to ensure the safety of boats. Water is also malleable and ever-changing, like air. Water changes into whatever shape you put it in. Arthur was once in the shape Uther made for him, arrogant and cruel, but over time Merlin and Gwen and the others reshaped him into a kinder, more understanding individual.
So yeah. Anyone have any different opinions? Feel free to share them!
Thanks for the ask <3

Friday, January 1st, 2021
Greetings, dear reader.
Some of you may have noticed my absence, but I have been hard at work. Either way, my comings and goings are none of your business. If you were to make a report of my work this past month, it would be longer than every past one of yours combined. I hope you all enjoy your holiday gifts. They were all chosen with great care and it took great effort to acquire some of them.
It seems your present to me was enough material for a longer report. I commend you for not being boring in my absence and while I know I should not criticize a gift, it would have been far better if you’d gifted me content for the entire year. Whatever; there’s always my birthday.
Many people have come and gone since we last spoke, too many for me to keep track of, but I regret to inform you that among the people that have left the world was Alastor, the Radio Demon. Where am I supposed to get my entertainment from now that all the world’s resident killers are gone? Unless Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, or James Potter make good on their threats to kill Peter Pettigrew, I suppose that I will have to watch and listen to your silly conversations and arguments instead.
There were a few Thanksgiving get-togethers, though not as many as for the next big holiday that we will cover. Bucky Barnes invited his sister Rebecca Barnes and her boyfriend, Hugo Granger-Weasley, to spend Thanksgiving with himself, his son Leonard “Leo” Barnes, and his girlfriend Angie Martinelli. They had to explain the holiday to Madge Undersee, who grew up in a world where there was no Thanksgiving and for whom a cornucopia was used for more than just food.
Christmas has arrived for the inhabitants of Worlds’ End, and many people have celebrated it in their own ways. I’d tell you about my holiday plans, but I doubt you would approve. Merlin and Morgana, on the other hand, hosted a lunch and dinner for their friends and family and spent the next day sleeping it off. Malachai Atherton explained Christmas to his girlfriend Ty Lee, who had never heard of the holiday but received a present from her boyfriend; she gave him one in return despite not knowing of the holiday, as she was aware this time of year was special somehow.
But not everyone has had a happy holiday. Regulus Black discovered that his daughter, Lyra, had joined one of the many happy ghost-like people living in the portal version of his beloved Hogwarts. I must say, that is a terrible idea of a Christmas gift on someone’s part. I do happily encourage murder, but even I must draw the line somewhere. Sirius Black, after being told by his brother that Lyra had left the world, assumed that either Peter Pettigrew or Narcissa Malfoy were involved as they were aligned with a certain Dark Lord back home. Sirius then grew infuriated at the idea of Narcissa being Lyra’s godmother, and things blew up between the two brothers when he accused Regulus of never changing his ways. Pardon my language, but what an asshole.
For un-holiday-related conversations, look no further than Aviana Pendragon. We have watched her grow up, but it wasn’t that long ago when her younger brother Gaven Pendragon was born. Avi has since felt like her family wants her to be just like her brother, though hopefully a few conversations with her parents and uncle would have made her feel better. If she is reading this, or if anyone needs to hear this—it is always okay to be yourself, whether you are rash and arrogant, quiet and sweet, or just a plain murderer. For example, I know I can be bold and that it can be intimidating to speak with me. I still do not shy away from this.
Meanwhile, there have been quite a few confessions made since people have only been able to speak the truth, both for the better and for the worse. For example, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste had a fight over a certain little secret (that I know and you don’t), but things have been cleared up between the two now and they are still happily in love. Sir Leon learned a little something about his good friend Sir Gwaine, but they did not fight at all and instead laughed it off. Compared to Marinette and Adrien, it was a rather boring conversation, but it was a conversation a long time coming. Then there was a conversation between Mordred and Merlin about a certain destiny and a certain set of fake memories, but that is all in the past. Now it is time to look to the future, and I can’t wait to see what will happen next. Even if the past did bring along enough drama to warrant several stab wounds.
And where there are confessions, there are also actions. Gorlois has been training the Druid Kara in how to fight and then extended his offer to Callan. After a few days of consideration, she decided to take the former knight up on his offer, and she joined the two in the gym. An anger-prone Druid, a feisty orphan, and a Knight who has renounced his knighthood… What can go wrong? For my sake, I hope several things do.
It has been weeks since his birth, but it is my honor and my duty to announce the arrival of young Micah Aspen Fisher Odair on Finnick Odair’s doorstep. While the victor was talking with his roommate, Rue Gardner, in the kitchen, they heard the soft cries of a baby outside. They brought the young boy inside, and Finnick has been raising him as his son since then. I cannot wait to write his mouthful of a name in future reports.
Finally, let’s move onto the exciting topic of relationships, whether they are familial, romantic, or platonic. Mariah Hunter and Daniel Jackson have been increasingly spending time together, be it watching movies, nursing small cuts on fingers, or preparing for dinners for the two of them to share. For now the two are just friends, but they are a pair to watch for anyone that knows them.
There is a new relationship in town for anyone who cares to read about it. Lu Ten may have been thinking about his feelings for Reagan Reyes for a while now, but staying silent about them was no longer possible. With the truth now being his only option, Lu Ten had no other choice but to say something, which may have been prompted by her painting of him. Thankfully, she reciprocated his feelings, and the two lovebirds kissed and decided to begin a relationship with each other. Now, let us just hope that their families approve. Since Lu Ten’s current family in the world consists of a single firebending cousin who is never happy, they should be fine.
On the topic of budding relationships, young Gaven Pendragon extended the hand of friendship to Kara, someone who has in the past tried to kill his father Arthur Pendragon as well as all the knights that he calls uncles. Of course, Gaven doesn’t know about that, and he likes seeing the best in everyone. I will address Gaven now as I did Aviana earlier—if you are reading this, perhaps it may be best to ask your parents about it. Or better yet, send in a question to me!
Gaven may not be the only tether between the two sides, though. Mordred and Kara, since their (seemingly inevitable) break up, have discussed the possibility of getting back together. As of the writing of this report, nothing has happened yet.
What is more certain is that Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala have gotten back together. Things had grown complicated between them both since she knew what her secret husband had done and what he would come to do, but they’d never stopped loving each other. It was—is—Padmé’s hope that they can find a way to move past whatever he will do in the future and perhaps stop it from ever happening at all. In a heartfelt moment, she exchanged wedding rings with him after not being able to wear them at home. It’s unlikely that change in course of action will happen, but it’s fun to watch everyone try to stop the inevitable, especially in a world like this where you already know what will happen.
Something else we already know for sure is that Jet has moved on from only telling lies to only telling the truth, which made Katara feel uncertain now that she knows that the lying buffer is gone. However, she has still chosen to be with him, and has expressed her happiness to Zuko, who is still happily in love with his girlfriend from the Earth Kingdom, Jin. What made the firebender less happy was the constant ice and snow outside, but maybe he’ll cheer up in the future. Hopefully, he got a winter coat for Christmas.
If you are Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai, it may be a bit hard to be cheery right now. They had to deal with a question of trust once again when Mercury went to wish his Semblance back from the genies of the Genies’ Cave. Back home, this had been stolen by his father to ‘make him stronger’. Emerald insisted on joining him in the caves so that he didn’t get himself killed, and the wish was made. If he had gotten killed, it would have made for such an interesting story. I do love a good death. There was no death, though, leaving us to see what happens in the aftermath of this wish. I hope it’s something exciting.
For the sake of my future reports, I hope the coming year is full of excitement for you.
That is all for my report this week.
Go on, dear reader, and do not forget to share this with your friends!
Your Editor thanks you.

More Fantasy High AtLA AU
Ayda is a firebender
Obviously
I genuinely wanted to make Ayda the previous incarnation of the avatar bc she’s powerful and awesome
But then that would mean she and Fig never meet and I can’t do that to them
Instead she’s King Bumi’s (Arthur’s) daughter from the fire nation who grew up criticized for being a fire bender in an earth kingdom
It got worse once firebenders attacked their kingdom
She practiced her firebending on her own, and kept up the kingdom’s library
She still doesn’t really have a relationship with Arthur
I mean technically Arthur’s there but he’s still, ya know, Arthur he’s got a bunch of other stuff in his field of vision and she never really asked for attention
When the Kristen, Riz, and Adaine got there for the first time she’s not really seen but she notices them immediately
When all the Bad Kids make their way to kingdom, a lot of Compass Points stuff happens
Ayda and Adaine hit it off immediately
Transitive best friends endear her to Fig
She comes with them because they ask and being in the kingdom makes her sad
Tbh the reason Ayda isn’t the teacher is because we need Fabian to join
Ragh is an earthbender
He absolutely does the illegal ring fights
He doesn’t win all the time but he absolutely loved to watch
He knew Gorgug from Gorgug’s trips to the city from his village
Gorgug’s parents are some of the best mechanics in the region
He actually had a crush on him, but let it out in the form of anger (as he did in season one)
Gorgug really helped him start to realize why he was such a shit, but his earthbending teacher Jawbone is what really helped him out
He helps out the Bad Kids when they’re in the area and grows to love them so much he follows when Gorgug joins
Tracker is a waterbender from the swamplands
Do not @ me we all know Kristen would fall head over heels for swampland Tracker
Specifically the swamplands with strong spiritual connections
Her bending is wicked strong at night and still a force to be reckoned with during the day
Tracker helped them out because it’s the right thing to do and also the avatar is there
She came there as a kid after getting kicked out by her mom
She was meant to stay with her uncle Jawbone but got lost on the way and called into the swamp
She joins in order to find him because she remembers him being a wonderful person (she’s absolutely right)
Zelda is a non-bender, but she comes from a family of fighters
Initially they were trained to be Capital Guards of the Earth Kingdom, but her family moved away after the war to settle
They still keep up the practices Just In Case and for Fun
Zelda and Gorgug know each other because his parents are also blacksmiths and help out with weapons
They’re very awkward around each other, but once he met the others and they helped him get over his nervousness, he asked her out and they’ve been together ever since
She can’t come with because her family has been found and is being coerced into serving the guard again
She says it’s an honor but they all know she’d much rather be with him
Penelope, Dayne, and Biz make up for Azula-Mai-Ty Lee search-and-destroy squad
I still stand by Aelwen taking the Azula character arc, but more in relation to Adaine than the search of the Avatar
Not much to say here other than none of them get redemption arcs
Coach Daybreak is Admiral Zhao it just occurred to me so I had to put it in
I’m trying to place Goldenhorde and my instinct is to make him a dragon (like a dead one) but I also know he was a big bad and thus important
One of the spirits? Idk shoot me an ask if you have ideas

Why Amon Should Have Been An Android
(spoilers for LoK and Young Justice season 1)
If you followed my LoK liveblog at all you may have noticed that I theorized at one point or another that all four major villains of LoK (Amon, Unalaq, Zaheer, and Kuvira) were secretly robots/androids (the term I used was robot, but the more accurate term would have been android.) Now, with Unalaq it was definitely just because I found him boring, with Zaheer it was to make fun of the fact that he was an Airbending prodigy with zero training, and with Kuvira it was because it was a thing at that point for me to predict that an LoK villain was a robot (and I was kind of right that time!!)
But with Amon? I was completely serious. We never see his face, his cause is stupid (and the perfect way for his programmers to start some trouble in Republic City), and he was able to resist bloodbending, which, if you’ll recall, requires that the victim have blood for it to work. You know who doesn’t have blood? That’s right, androids/robots.
But there’s another reason that I sincerely thought Amon was going to be a robot (android), and it’s the reason I’m writing this. There was something naggingly familiar about LoK to me, and no, it wasn’t that it was a sequel series to ATLA. To me, LoK doesn’t really feel a lot like ATLA (barring, of course, the very poorly shoehorned in fanservice cameos of Iroh, three times, like he’s a recurring character or something.) I struggled to pinpoint exactly what it was, but in my own observations and the observations of other people that I was talking to while liveblogging, a couple key differences became clear:
Tumblr media
[ID: an image of Korra from the back looking out towards Republic City, which is shown to have large white skyscrapers, a bay, and numerous smaller buildings. Much of it is obscured by fog and clouds. The city is built in the middle of a sprawling bay. /End ID]
1. the setting of LoK is incredibly Americanized and Eurocentric. While ATLA displays a lot of cultural insensitivity towards the cultures it borrows from in choosing how to depict them, LoK...doesn’t really depict other cultures. Republic City to me felt very similar to how 1920s New York is typically depicted in media, and no setting in the Earth Kingdom or Water Tribe was explored enough to really explore the unique cultures of those settings. While you can tell in ATLA that bryke was somewhat interested in (a vague, exoticized, unrealistic vision of) East Asian culture, LoK is very clearly inspired by America and Europe, with very little else influencing how the setting was depicted.
2. there are no “unimportant” people in LoK. Everybody is related to somebody we know from ATLA (or somebody from ATLA), a powerful business mogul, military, somebody high up in the government, a celebrity, and/or the Avatar. The only character I can really think of that’s an exception to this is Kai, who really does not have much of a role. (I guess you could argue that Mako is an exception but y’know...he was a famous pro-bender for a while there) You don’t just get to meet a regular person living in a village anymore. Every character in LoK has political, social, or cultural power.
These points, put together with the technological prowess of the world of LoK (which is different season to season and sometimes even episode to episode depending on how the writers are feeling that day), made the show feel very distant from ATLA, but very, very close to another show that I have watched and loved. And that show is Young Justice.
Tumblr media

For those not in the know, Young Justice is a DC animated cartoon focusing on the teen sidekicks, proteges, and relatives of superheroes like Batman, Superman the Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and others banding together to form their own superhero team. YJ is set in America, vaguely, with characters residing in cities with names like Gotham City, Star City, and Central City (a naming convention that Republic City fits right into). And as is apparent from the premise, most of the characters you’ll meet in YJ are superheroes, related to superheroes, or otherwise important business moguls, celebrities, or political figures. And while the world of YJ is of course significantly more technologically advanced than that of LoK, there’s more overlap than you’d think. Besides spaceships, teleportation, smartphones, and genetic engineering, there’s really not a lot of tech that YJ seasons 1 and 2 have that LoK doesn’t.
So you may be thinking, “ok Arthur, we get it, you’re a fucking nerd, what does this have to do with robots?” I’m glad you asked! One of the storylines of YJ focuses on the war between rival tech moguls Tio Morro and Professor Ivo, in which they build increasingly sophisticated androids. Ivo’s are pretty much just designed to kill supers, but Morro’s are expressly designed to mirror the human psyche, and desire to be a part of human society. Amon very clearly also desires a community, and does much of what he does to integrate himself into a community of nonbenders where he really doesn’t belong. Further, Morro’s androids are immune to threats that humans are not immune to because they are not made up of organic matter. For example, in season 1, episode 3, Miss Martian attempts to read Red Tornado’s mind, to no avail, because she can only read the minds of organic beings. In a similar vein, Amon was able to resist bloodbending, and while unfortunately that was not because he was an android, it would have made sense given the conventions of the cartoon android genre. I didn’t realize it at the time, but my previous YJ knowledge very much influenced the way I read that scene. The way Amon’s body was animated very much mirrored the animation of Morro’s androids trying to resist their evil creator’s programming.
So, I’ve taken you through the what, the how, but I promised that I’d say why Amon being an android would have been better, and I plan to deliver. First, it needs be remarked that while Amon being an android wouldn’t have made much sense, it would have only made slightly less sense than the canon explanation of Amon being Tarrlok’s secret brother. In fact, I’d argue that, if handled correctly, Amon being an android could make more sense and be more impactful. Here’s how I envision it: android! Amon would be pretty similar to Red Tornado, in that he would know that he was an android and be programmed to help people. He was of course, built by Hiroshi Sato (that man designed and likely built all the Equalists’ weapons he has the range), who sees himself as a sort of father to Amon. Hiroshi tells Amon about the systemic disenfranchisement of nonbenders and how a Firebender killed his wife, and Amon, being programmed to want to help people and to desire participation in human society, decides he wants to lead a revolution against benders. However, an android can’t very well openly lead a revolution (you could add a bit in the backstory episodes about how humans don’t trust androids or something), so Hiroshi and Amon come up with the story that Firebenders burned his face and hands, which is what prompted him to lead the revolution. Thus, his whole body, including his face, is covered, and his followers assume that it’s because the burns are so bad, and they follow him. In the latter half of the season, the krew would uncover Hiroshi’s involvement with the Equalists, but Asami would be the one to realize that Amon is an android that Hiroshi built. Amon being Hiroshi’s “son” of sorts would be another element of Asami coming to terms with the evils of her family, as Amon in this case would be a machine programmed to be easily manipulated to follow Hiroshi’s cause and would consider himself her brother, and she would have to reckon what to do with both of them. The nonbenders’ cause would still be legitimate after Amon was exposed as an android (unlike it is when the literal figurehead of their movement is also antithetical to their movement) and the heroes would have to reckon with the realities of bender supremacy and the hurt it caused. Amon could even get a redemption arc and work with world leaders to make a better society for nonbenders and androids like himself (I’m sure there’s some parallel you can draw between nonbender oppression and android oppression, though I can’t think of one atm) As an added bonus, Amon wouldn’t be able to bend, so he couldn’t bloodbend Korra, which would be one less time that an LoK villain took away Korra’s bodily autonomy. Amon could even be a recurring character in the later books, because really, wouldn’t LoK have been more fun with a newly-redeemed android sidekick still learning about what the world is outside of his creator’s narrow worldview? Plus, that would give Asami more to do in books 2 and 3 than meet Varrick and participate in love triangle drama (Amon is of course replacing Varrick’s presence on the show), and getting to know and bond with Amon could be the catalyst for her visiting her father in prison in book 4.
Remember, I didn’t claim that this would be good, I claimed that it would be better, and since the bar was on the ground with that secret brothers twist that wasn’t too hard to accomplish. tl;dr bryke are cowards, take the plunge and make him an android.

Edgewood AU: Avatar: The Last Airbender (psd credit)
Heather was born to a humble doctor from the Earth Kingdom and his wife, a rogue soldier from the Fire Nation. Imogene hadn’t meant to settle down in a town in the closest part of the Earth Kingdom to occupied lands, but she fell in love long before reaching Ba Sing Se.
Despite her mother’s past, Heather’s life wasn’t too hectic. She got along well enough with the other children in the village, though she always wanted to explore outside of their corner of the world. She had an insatiable curiosity about everything in the world worked that led to her asking everything of people passing through her village, especially scholars.
She grew up weary of the Fire Nation and their colonial plans, so it was a terrifying shock to her when she accidentally firebended the first time. Luckily, no one saw her, and her mother didn’t seem too surprised though her father was visibly distressed at the news. Her mother sat her down and explained that she was from the Fire Nation but had left because they wanted her to do bad things. Imogene was a bender herself who had sworn never to use her powers against another person again. She told her daughter how important it was that she keep that ability a secret.
Heather struggled with keeping her firebending in check, so her mother made sure to teach her the basics. She started to feel different from her peers, and the hardest part of all was how her father looked at her when she talked about or used firebending.
When Heather was a teenager, the Fire Nation attacked their humble village, looking to claim more land for their empire. There was little that the members of their village could do, but her mom stepped up to defend them, using a staff, and when it got bad, firebending. Her father spirited Heather away to hide, despite her protests that she wanted to help her mother. But they didn’t get away. A few soldiers caught them on the far side of the village, and one went for Arthur. Heather didn’t think; she just reacted by blasting the soldier.
The soldiers captured the two and brought them back, despite Heather fighting tooth, nail, and flame. They arrived where the captain had her mother tied up and badly bruised and burned. Arthur was accused of harboring a fugitive, but Imogene insisted desperately that he had known nothing. They let him go, but Heather will never forget seeing her mother set ablaze right in front of her.
Then there was nothing Arthur could do as his daughter was dragged onto a Fire Nation ship. The captain sat her down and assured her that she was not responsible for her mother’s crimes. He also lamented that she had been kept from her home land and culture for so long and declared that they would fix that.
Heather found herself thrust into a school in the Fire Nation’s capital, where she bitterly observed how ubiquitous the propaganda was. How could everyone be so stupid and blind? They were clearly being led on to perpetuate this horrible regime. She ran away several times in the first year, trying to reach the Earth Kingdom and her father, and one time she even made it a few miles out in a stolen boat. Eventually however, she learned to bite her tongue and lower her eyes, for the punishments there were not light.
After she graduated, Heather was conscripted into the Fire Nation army, forced to fight for the corrupt power she despised. They had been making her take bending lessons since she arrived in the capital in preparation for this, though she had held out a desperate hope of leaving after gradation. Heather enjoys the rush of power from using her fire, but every time she does, she also hears her mother beg for mercy as the flames consume her.
That image only drives her more. Heather is going to work her way up in the Fire Nation army until she can find the captain who killed her mother and took her away from her father. She will destroy him, and maybe an empire along the way.
