Uhhh very messy sketch dump of my magical boys with various levels of cleaned up (but still very scratchy overall)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wanted to scribble them a bit more in their everyday look/university uniforms ! each year has a different uniform color and they follow each other in a rainbow gradient order until year 8, year 9 and 10 students wearing all white and all black uniforms. (yknow like black belts and white whistles are for highest grades in martial arts/ made in abyss) Also added my main boy's rival ! He's really mad that Gloire gets to go on missions already and not him despite being as good as him at fencing ! Musketeers help the hearts in distress, an both may be good at swordfighting and dumb but Az is emotionally dumb which is why he cannot go on missions. (and usually very few to no first years can already go on official missions, which is quite normal, and there are emotional intelligence classes alongside fencing)
And relationships chart ofc ! I've always wanted to draw one with my own characters hehe. These are how it is between them in the beginning of the story. Idk if I should write their names or nah everytime, I'll add a link to the magical boys art specifically on my pinned post though ! (I'll do clean caracter sheets when I get the time to)

Riddle Rosehearts
He knows you’re very passionate about fandom culture but you never really had the chance to infodump about it to him
Until one day, you drop by Heartslabyul for a leisurely visit, when you see a not-so-clearly distressed Riddle sitting in the lounge
Not-so-clearly meaning he’s holding a teacup in his hand yet not drinking it, eyes closed as if he’s holding in all his emotions
You grow worried at this sight and slide next to him on the couch where he is seated, hoping you can help alleviate some of that stress
He sees you and he allows himself a sigh, then musters up a smile for you. He greets you and you cut straight to the point - can you help him with anything?
He releases a second sigh and shakes his head, telling you he only needs some sort of distraction. He just had a long day and needs to take his mind off things
You take a second to think of things that you can distract him with – that’s when a lightbulb goes off in your head. This is a prime opportunity for you
“Okay, I’m guessing you haven’t heard of Five Nights at Freddy’s since it’s a franchise from my world and all but the lore is crazy. So it starts like this…”
He wasn’t expecting to be paying much attention to the contents of what you’re saying but sooner or later, he ends up leaning towards you with his hand cupping his chin, mouth slightly agape at the story you’re telling
This inspires you to dump even more information about the media somehow at the rate that you’re going
By the end of it, he’s completely forgotten what he was so worried about. His head is full of creepy pizzerias for kids and haunted animatronics
He ends up having some trouble sleeping that night though. He’ll get you for that later.
Leona Kingscholar
He won’t lie, your interest in fandoms is too reminiscent of Idia for him – he doesn’t admit this to you obviously, since he hasn’t had the chance to
But on one particularly boring day, you decide to skip class with him and he lets you tag along for the hell of it
In the span of three seconds, he’s already off in dreamland. Sometimes you wish you had such a skill
Since you have nothing better to do and he’s way too deep in his sleep to even care anyway, you start rambling to yourself and a slumbering Leona
“Well, I’ve been thinking a lot about Undertale lately so I need to dump it all somewhere. So basically you play as this kid…”
Little do you know halfway through his nap, he wakes up from how much you’re talking. At first, he’s annoyed by your yapping but then he grows interest in what you’re saying
He’s almost tempted to try that game for himself and almost disappointed that it’s not available in Twisted Wonderland. Emphasis on almost.
When you’re done rambling, that’s when he stretches his arms over his head and yawn, commenting how noisy you were
You shrug it off. You're used to him complaining about you yapping instead of napping alongside him
…But then he asks you to tell him more about Undertale, if there's any more information you’re keeping from him out of the kindness of your heart
You smile smugly at this and his expression seems to say “don't make me regret asking” but oh, you definitely will make him regret even being friends with you in the first place
Needless to say, regrets were not the only thing he held at the end of that day.
Azul Ashengrotto
Similar to Leona, your fixation on fandom culture reminds him too much of Idia. not that that’s necessarily a bad thing - it’s more of an observation
And he gets more than an observation when you get the chance to show him what you’re made of: useless fandom culture and gaming knowledge
Speaking of Idia, he goes to you as a last resort to ask you to help him understand whatever the hell Idia’s talking about
You don’t know too much about Twisted Wonderland’s fandom culture just yet but when Azul explains the premise of a certain game and its fandom, it gives you an idea
“Sounds pretty similar to Yandere Simulator. Ooh, that one has a lot of history. Let me tell you about it…”
Unfortunately for him, he ended up unlocking your geekiness instead of having you address the things he was confused with
But at least your story makes it a bit easier to understand? He’s yet to decide that really but at least it sounds like you’re taking his lack of slang knowledge into consideration
Your infodump really gripped his attention though - it’s interesting to know another side of human culture, even if it’s not the humans of Twisted Wonderland
He would nod understandingly (or at least, politely) and thank you and your geekiness
He relays your story to Idia and finds it intriguing how similar fandom culture is in both Twisted Wonderland and your world
He would invite you to Board Game Club meetings so that you can rave and find out more about Twisted Wonderland’s fandom culture with Idia
He’d realize that was a big mistake and he may or may not have created the nerdiest pair in the world - but you guys are his nerdiest pair in the world.
Kalim Al-Asim
He’s very curious about fandom culture - he doesn’t know too much about it nor anyone who knows a lot about it so almost all the fandom information in his head are from you
He really wants to know more!!! So of course that warrants a hangout session fabricated as a study session to get Jamil’s stamp of approval
So there you are in his room, books laid out in front of the two of you but most importantly, a laptop
You two watch about a dozen videos on Twisted Wonderland’s fandom culture and as you absorb all the very-much-useful information, you sneak in tidbits from the culture of your world
“This one in particular is reminiscent of Danganronpa. Man, that one was a wild ride…”
It’s exciting to be able to talk about it with someone you trust wholeheartedly, especially Kalim, whom you know wouldn’t be so judging
He only nods in understanding at every point you made, his eyes sparkling with all the curiosity in his body
You were on your thirteenth video when you two are interrupted by a rap on the door and an unfortunately-familiar voice
So obviously you and your bestie hurriedly rush to close all the tabs on your laptop and open up something more academically-inclined
Which is obviously a…dictionary site
Jamil blinks twice at this, says nothing (but probably noting how it makes sense for you guys since you two are bumbling idiots) and walks away
If there’s any dictionary being read that day, it’d be a dictionary of fandom terminology, that’s for sure.
Vil Schoenheit
He doesn’t know too much about it - and doesn’t bother to learn much about it since he has better things to do - but since it’s you, he tries his best to be a good listener
The two of you sit down in the courtyard one day, the chirping of birds and rustling of leaves music to your ears; beauty truly is everywhere around you when you’re next to him
He’s talking about something. You’re not sure what because you’re entranced by the way his hair hangs above his eyes so elegantly. He notices this and calls you out for it
You shrug and excuse how you can’t help it - he’s like a dating simulator love interest in the real. He asks you what you mean by this. Now’s your chance to shine!
“Hmm, you know, something like Mystic Messenger? Hehe, let me tell you a bit about it…”
Unluckily for him, your “a bit” turns out to be a four-hour long ramble about the aforementioned dating simulator a little too reminiscent of Rook for his liking too
Despite his reservations, he really did enjoy hearing you talk so passionately about your interest; it’s a bonus that the topic itself is interesting
He tells you he wouldn’t mind trying out the game or at least finding out more about it though unfortunately it’s not available in Twisted Wonderland
You share his shame - until he says he’ll pitch the concept of the game to some authorities he know and perhaps make it a reality
Sorry, he’s going to what now?
You’re a little shaken. Sometimes you forget he’s a world-class model, despite his looks and mannerisms. You save your nerves for if a Twisted Wonderland version of Mystic Messenger actually ends up happening
He thanks you for enlightening him about fandom and video gaming culture. You use this as a cue to add another four hours of ranting about V’s route in the game.
Idia Shroud
You’re another victim for him to taint… or so he thought. You’re more of an ally than a victim at this point, considering how nerdy you are
He’d dump fandom lore on you and you’d reciprocate it right back. He’s genuinely so impressed with your knowledge, even if they differ by some degree due to being from different worlds
He gets more impressed when you pull up with knowledge about Twisted Wonderland’s fandom culture like damn, you really brushed up on your talking points already
Friendly rivalry aside, he really does enjoy talking about fandom culture with you and hearing about the things from your world - every story you tell adds a little color into his world
One day, the two of you are leaning on each other, on your phones because of course you are, even if you two are friends, talking still isn’t Idia’s strong suit
That’s when you blurt it out–
“Hey, wanna hear about this game called Persona? It’s a turn-based RPG and…”
Regardless of his response to your question, you ended up babbling away either way. It’s how conversations start between the two of you
You’re speaking so fast, he would have mistaken you for a rapper - or a doppelganger of himself even
Consider him entertained - he finds himself smiling by the end of your yapping and intrigued by your story
He then obviously starts to relate it to something from Twisted Wonderland, passing the listener baton to you
You don’t mind – you can stay there for hours and hours, just going back and forth with your fellow nerdy-ass friend.
Malleus Draconia
This man barely knows how to use a smartphone so you had to be a little patient with him when guiding him through the fandom culture trenches
He’s happy that you trust and cherish him enough to talk about your interests with no reservations or shame – and the feeling is mutual
On a certain weekend, the two of you are hanging out as usual. Chatting as friends would do
You don’t know why but the conversation reminded you of a certain fandom
“It’s kinda like Genshin’s community, I guess. They’re a riot, let me tell you that.”
Oh? What’s a Genshin and why is its community a riot?
You’re glad he asked – because you’ve prepared a 100-slide presentation on the history of the game and its fans
He asks you why and how did you find the time to make that. You tell him to shut up and that it doesn’t matter, he just needs to listen to you
You start and it feels like you’ll never stop – there’s just so much to say and Malleus has so much time in the world
Seeing his reactions to certain events makes you crack up and at times, you’d laugh at his shocked expressions (or sigh exhaustively, depending on the event you’re explaining)
When you finally stop, he gives you a one-man standing ovation. You blush a little at the attention and unexpected reaction but you appreciate his sentiment nonetheless. He tells you that your presentation has been very informative for him
You’re relieved to have been able to get that off your chest… and Malleus is more than ecstatic to relay the information to everyone he’s ever known. You obviously pretend that you had no involvement in his sudden investment of a game from another world.

You know I was wondering if Crocodile ever did have any kind of involvement with the Revolutionary Army in secret (lest the Government finds out and revokes his Shichibukai status), what kind of involvement would that even have been
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now, with both the Vegapunk/Ohara flashback and Kuma's flashback, it's being made very clear to us that the Revolutionary Army was broke as hell 22 years ago. Like the fact that this has been brought up twice now in a relatively short span of time is interesting to me, that's usually a sign it's not an unimportant plotpoint
But you know who would have had money to help fund the Army
A funny little warlord who would eventually go and build a fucking casino to run for funsies. A warlord who had to give the Government some of his Pirating Income to keep his warlord-status
Like Crocodile hated the Government anyways so why not help fund the Revolutionary Army in secret, out of spite if for no other reason
Vaguely related, but I keep on remembering this scene (post-Enies Lobby), which at first glance just seems like a basic Lore Dump
But then there's the
Tumblr media
"Yet..."
(Or "however", she says "no ni" in Japanese and you could translate that in many ways, I would probably have gone with "however" but that wouldn't have fit into the speechbubble)
Mind you, the conversation just kind of ends there, next we see Garp realize he probably shouldn't have mentioned Dragon infront of such a massive audience, so wherever that "yet" was going to lead to we will never find out, because Oda conveniently changed the subject before we got to it
And you know. Like yes, Robin could be just expressing her shock over finding out that the leader of the Revolutionary Army had a child with someone
But also, Robin was a part of an organization that was trying to overthrow one of the founding countries of the World Government in an explicit attempt to go against said Government (compared to like, Blackbeard, who currently wants to make Fullalead into a "pirate country" that's a part OF the World Government)
Like you don't have to be a genius to look at Crocodile's ultimate goals and compare that to what Dragon is doing and find a few similarities here and there maybe
(Also like, Crocodile's equivalent in Romancing SaGa 2 is meant to be Wagnas, the queer-coded leader of the Seven Heroes (whom the OG Shichibukai are based on) who "hoped to help the world". You know, an interesting detail and all.)
Not to mention, during the time Robin spent with Baroque Works, if Crocodile was ever in contact with the Revolutionary Army at all, considdering she has the ability to easily spy on people and that she didn't trust Crocodile one bit, it wouldn't be unsurprising if she ever spied on Crocodile and/or just overheard a phone call or knew about Crocodile having secret spending habits or something
(Mind you, I'm not saying "she knew" Crocodile was involved with the Revolutionaries, more that she might've been Suspecting Things, that "yet" being about her connecting the dots while unsure if her conclusion was right or not)
Of course Crocodile's plans can't have been Dragon Approved by any means, especially considdering the Army had been looking for Robin for over 10 years (pre-timeskip)
Tumblr media
Four years of which were with Crocodile. Like if he was FULLY allied with the Army and KNEW they were looking for Robin, surely he would've called Dragon and been like "hey I found the kid from Ohara, wanna come hang out" or something. But no, he had bigger plans and kept Robin a secret from the Revolutionaries and the Government alike
Also like, I have seen people question why the Revolutionaries weren't involved with Alabasta's rebellion at all, and "Oda hadn't come up with the Revolutionaries yet at the time of writing" (/"OP was meant to end at Alabasta at one point so there would've been no reason to introduce the subplot at that point") aside Between Baroque Works being a secret organization working undercover (thus the Army might not have been aware of the civil war being manufactured), the framing of the King making him look bad and very much the type of monarch that deserved to be overthrown in the Army's eyes, and Crocodile maybe lying through his teeth about what was happening in the country... Yeah, the Army's lack of involvement with Alabasta suddenly makes sense
EDIT Minor addition: Just realized that because Crocodile was technically working for the Government, if the Revs ever did send forces to participate in Alabasta's civil army and taking down the throne, the Government could've easily ordered Crocodile to step in to stop the rebellion and take down the Revolutionaries, right? Because he was supposed to be on the Government's side, right? And surely the Army wouldn't have wanted to fight against Crocodile if they were secretly allied (Croc's secret betrayal aside), and if Crocodile refused to fight the Revs the Government could've seen that as a reason to revoke his Shichibukai rights (which wouldn't be great if they wanted to keep Crocodile in a position where he could fund the Army?). So it could've also been a case of it being for the best for everyone's sake to let this one play out "naturally"
But my point is
I'm just deeply intriqued by these little details and wonder if I'm Actually Masterfully Connecting The Dots Like a True Genius or just seeing a pattern where there's none. Like this is far from confirming the theory, I'm just saying, the pieces do kinda fit together do they not

a terrace in Llythien |
Llythien, the sister city of ancient Loein, founded at the turn of the third age by the Celaedian. It is home to a population of mostly native northern elves. Denizens claimed Yehl Leandelle as the city's mythe, or patron saint, though the Celaedian named the city for the spirit of compassion and guiding star of the Valen'Lei. Llythien is nestled in the Valley of Sky, beneath the shadow of the palace of Lazu'Lei, now seat of dragondom. There, it is everautumn; an eternally auburn retreat, quiet beneath the golden forests of Starmourne.
autumn always makes me feel inspired, and while I miss building and decorating in the Sims, the game is an eternal struggle. but I've been meaning to carry this passion of mine into Blender for a long time, and translate my ideas and story into 3D. I know there's probably some of you who have no interest in 3D art, for whom I will tag accordingly. for those who are interested, I'll be posting more of Blender scenes here from now on.
this is my first full exterior set in Blender. one I've been working on for two months, on and off. all the assets used in this render I made myself. it's certainly far from perfect, but I hope to improve my skills on doing both interior and exterior renders, and I'll be sharing my photo journey here with a bit of lore dump from the AoA canon. I'll also include little collages of my assets as I make them (I do this anyways as I build up my library). but just to show off more stuff I made (yay)!

So I went dumpster diving in my tablet for the first lamb I ever drew and WOW... I found a lot of sketches I really don't plan on revisiting. I am jsut gonna dump them below the cut for people to see!! Some of it is lore related, some of it is shit I ABSOLUTELY FUCKING HATE, but IDC!!! I will post it anyway for the tumblr users who I keep an eye on my notifs for. (yes, i see you guys. even if i dont always interact I see you and love you guys)
Anyway, here is the earliest drawin I have of me drawing the lamb!! I am going to write a comment under a lot of these to add context to them.
Tumblr media
A cute little baby <3333 but I struggled a LOT of figuring out what the lamb was wearing, I eventually figured it out though. (I hope)
Tumblr media
if you know, you know. (RIP VAL)
Tumblr media
for my BTG AU. I decided I no longer wanted chemach to make the [spoiler] for the lamb, though, so I scrapped this
Tumblr media
vaaaal,,,,,, i was still learning how to draw him, i wish i put pants on him but do those even exist in COTL? (yes)
Tumblr media
I haven't been able to do much with them because I'm putting other stuff first, but Brear has two kids, Notre and Brejul who Narinder absolutely ADORES. he is the one who babysits.
Tumblr media
fun fact but the lamb being touch repulsed is a projection LOL. i hate it when people touch me it feels so tickly and makes me want to bite their faces off. (but i am touch starved and i LOVE to show affection to other ppl, esp thru back rubs)
Tumblr media
yes, they have a hoop for personal space. no, ill never use it.
Tumblr media
drum corcl,,,, i love the little dancing guy that comes from the drums
Tumblr media
more narinder and brear. they're not romantically interested in each other, but he is absolutely head over heels for brear, their brother, and the kids. they even call him dad sometimes.
Tumblr media
[no context]
Tumblr media
kallamar and leshy before their crowns. the scene i have related to this isn't happening anymore, but it was leshy begging to be taught to swim.
Tumblr media
another "the one who baby sits" doodle. the bishops all came into the cult with a very good repuation thanks to narinder. he likes to tell the kids of the cult stories about how amazing his siblings were. at first, it was just to nobre and brejul with stories about leshy(he missed leshy a lot even though he was still mad at him, and the two reminded narinder of his time with leshy), but then it escalated into him hosting storytimes with larger groups after they started repeating some of the stories he'd tell them.
Tumblr media
unfinsihed stuff about with the lamb and thier mom. their mom wasn't afraid of the bishops at all, but knew that they were a still a threat to her and her child's life. the lamb did NOT care for anyone thier mom didn't approve of/enthusiastically liked. they were much more afraid of the bishops than their mother.
Tumblr media
i do not actually know if i posted this.i dont think so, but i giggle every time i scroll past it
Tumblr media
brear and nobre <333
Tumblr media
im still workong on BTG shit, and i post a little bit of the characters on here even tho the comics are going to be posted elsewhere. they have a "crownlike" beak, but a body part. there's different creatures who became gods through different ways; crowns are one way but their power is stuck with the crown and they are considered extremely weak compared to other gods. i wont blabber on about it tho.
Tumblr media
so many sketches has random lines through em because i work with a tablet,,, i hate it. anyway, narinder and kallamar everybody!
Tumblr media
sketches i made but didn't bother to finish of me and merbre,,,,,,,,, my husband #1 <3 them w/ narinder + merbre arent gonna be considered "canon" but damn it ill self-ship with them until i get a follower i can WORK with
Tumblr media
i come back to this every few weeks and im never happy with it, i dont know if ill finish this but i think about them........ before the divorce </3
Tumblr media
unused from an ask
Tumblr media
heartstealer. menace. you can rip my heart out anytime, leshy <3
Tumblr media
dreshy. he LOVES dresses and being pretty and cute and pretty. he sucks narinder into a lot and heket will sometimes join in if he demands asks her to <3
Tumblr media
another unused drawing from an ask i'll eventually answer. (mildly offended at being called a mutton cube.)
.... aaand WOW! I think that's everything guys!! things are still kinda wild but they're calming down a little bit. idk how much longer it's gonna last like this but I have some energy so I made a way-too-long post showing off art I wasn't supposed to post! Awesome. :D

I just read the new comic, and WOW. Corona may have one of the prettiest character designs that I have ever seen!! :o And I have so many questions!! Is it alright if I ask them?
1. What is the ‘star witch’ society structure like? Because I saw one of your other replies regarding Corona that said she actually doesn’t have any real authority over Stella, but because of the judgment and twisted beliefs of the other star witches. They all seem to have expectations and a shared mindset about ‘rulers’ and ‘subjects’. Can you expand on those beliefs and why they think that?
2.Really though… how powerful is Stella compared to the other star witches? I think that she’s the most powerful Noisrevian (?) so far, but how strong is the extent of her magic compared with, say, Corona?
3. Can star witches look any way they want to, or does the aptitude of their power impact their appearance? For example, Stella has a much more ‘simplistic looking’ appearance than Corona, who has a far more ‘majestic’ and ‘otherworldly’ build. This could signify their differences in power, magic, surroundings… or just a personal preference. Which one is it, exactly?
4. Why exactly is Stella seen… erm, ‘differently’ compared to the other star witches? I know it’s partially because she sees her people as ‘friends’ rather than ‘subjects’, but is there something else to it? Is it because she’s genuinely kind and caring, or because she is mostly content with the way things are, or…something else?
5. Can you elaborate more on the ‘star people’ in the story? Like… what are their motivations, culture, mindsets… and why do they settle on other planets in the first place? They’re stars, right? Why do they feel the need to settle on other planets? Is each star just like… thrown onto a random planet by some magical, celestial force and are born there, or do they grow up in like… supernovas and stardust, basically? Are they celestial deities, or mystical creatures… or something else?
6. How do Stella and Corona know each other, anyways? Were they friends whose relationship have soured, former master and pupil, one-sided besties/crush, or just straight up exes? And why does Corona seem to like and care about Stella while the latter seems to want nothing to do with her? Is she scared of Corona? Is there some ‘shared history’ there or what? It would be super interesting if there was!
7. Corona seems to be repulsed at the idea of a ‘star witch’ dating a ‘subject’. And Stella even agrees with her, albeit out of fear more than a shared mindset. Is there some sort of ‘taboo’ of the act of liking, dating, or even marrying a ‘subject?’ It doesn’t seem that star witches are banned from romantic relationships with anyone (since Corona seems to be QUITE interested in Stella…) but why is it so bad for a ‘star’ and their ‘subject’ to be with each other? Because even Stella seems to be mildly reproachful of the idea, as she frankly denied her feelings for Lambchop, saying that ‘it would be inappropriate and weird for someone of her position’ in a very stuttering and flustered tone. How else would she in such denial about her feelings for Lambchop?
…And that’s it! Thank you so much for reading my (horribly long) questions and I really hope that we can learn more about the Star Race! Once again, thank you very much for all of your wonderful games and artwork and I hope you have a great day! (Or night… idk lol) <3
Y'know what I think I'm good to do a little lore dump *rubs my devious little hands together*
I'll try to answer to the best of my ability!!
Star Witch society is a bit weird. They don't live in families(there's no parents or siblings, they all just come from stars), and there isn't any sort of "Grand Witch" that oversees things either. They're almost like solitary animals, and while they don't see each other very often--when they do, there's often always an air of passive-aggressiveness and competition. Despite being so independent, they're tethered together by society, tradition, and this almost social-competition they seem to unthinkingly participate in. (I'll get to some related stuff in another one of your questions) ===
I'd say Stella is pretty powerful. In fact, I'd even say her and Corona are on pretty equal levels. The difference between them is that Corona is more flaunting of their power whereas Stella is not. ===
I think their appearances lean more on personal preference, but also that they're not completely in control of their appearances. Like I think Corona can change size if she wishes but I don't think she could completely turn herself into someone new--at least not "naturally". ===
Believe it or not most Star Witches ARE kind and caring--to their subjects. Not so much to each other. It's like you said above, the reason that Stella is viewed so weirdly is because of how little power she has taken on her planet and because she views her "subjects" as being her "friends". (I'll expand more on this in answer 5.) ===
Star Witches are born from stars and sent to crash into planets. Star Witches goals are to take over a planet and create a utopia. It's not really known why they do this, it seems to just be in their nature. And because of this, Star Witches always seem be in an unspoken competition with one another to see who can create "the best" utopias and are often very judgemental of the way others choose to do things. Using Corona as an example (because she was essentially made to be!), Corona is your example of a classic Star Witch. They have already taken over an entire planet. They are essentially a point of religion, with churches and altars dedicated to them. The planet has an abundance of the things needed to live. Corona has personally done things like cure babies of illnesses while holding them in her own hands (before getting to work on ridding illnesses entirely.) People like Lambchop wouldn't even get the chance to exist on her planet because she'd rid of them instantly. If being a Star Witch is like playing a video game: Stella is playing Animal Crossing. Corona and other typical Star Witches are playing The Sims, Zoo/Rollercoaster Tycoon, or like...even Spore sometimes LOL. ===
It's interesting to me that many people seem to pick up on romantic subtext between Corona and Stella because it is actually quite the opposite! Corona is weirded out by Stella and finds her to be headed down a path of embarrassment and shame. When Corona teases Stella about "do you have a crush on me?" It's simply meant to be that--a tease. She's essentially bullying Stella in that moment. Corona doesn't like Stella. Corona wants Stella to conform. In fact, Star Witches hardly get into romantic relationships at all! And when they do, it's always with each other. Two Star Witches getting together is seen as a big cosmic event, and is essentially the same as getting married. I don't think there's much of a dating stage. The real reason Stella and Corona know each other is because Star Witches all kinda keep tabs on each other (though Stella herself tries to stay out of it). Stella and Corona are essentially just acquaintances--however, there is an added connection in that Corona was Stella's "batter". So, a bit of extra lore: When Star Witches land on planets, it's because another Star Witch essentially has a magical baseball bat they use to swing a star into a planet so the Star Witch can start their utopia. Corona was the person who batted the baseball that was Stella's shooting star into her(Stella's) planet. ===
The reason a Star Witch dating their "subjects" is taboo is because their subjects are not viewed as being people to them. Corona, for example, can recognize the people on her own planet as being alive, and they truly do want to make them happy and have them live peaceful and pleasant lives. But Corona doesn't view them as people equal to her. Star Witches essentially view their subjects almost as collectives. Maybe they pick and choose a few favorites every now and again but to Star Witches, their subjects are essentially video game NPCs, dolls you play pretend with, book characters, sometimes even pets(and that one's being generous), etc etc. You know when you play a tycoon game and you get notifications like "Your park guests are complaining there's not enough dining spaces!", it's a lot like that. They don't often see individuals. But Stella is different in that she views everyone in SnD as being her friend. She still might have a bit to learn about friendship, but she truly does feel as though these people are her friends and she wants to befriend them. To other Star Witches, this is really weird. It's like someone telling you that their toy is their friend in 100% sincerity, as if the toy is actually a person. Stella is aware that other Star Witches don't see things the way she does but tries not to let it get to her. (Keyword being try) She wants to enjoy the friends she has. However, despite wanting to be everyone's friend, she is still aware of the ways in which she has more power over them and for that reason finds it a step too far to get romantically involved. She's supposed to be a hero to them, she's supposed to make their lives happier, and dare she says she's supposed to be a friend to them! But she's not supposed to date them. Even if deep down she wants to, she knows she's not supposed to. It's TOO selfish, and that's not what heroes are supposed to be like, right? And on top of that, she knows how it would make other Star Witches view her. Stella wouldn't find it gross for herself, because she sees someone like Lambchop as being her friend. She doesn't see them as different from each other. But other Star Witches consider them to be worlds apart, and for that reason find it gross and shameful. If they view her as a bit strange and dare I say "cringe" now, they might completely outcast her if they found out she was to be romantically engaging with a subject. And while Stella tries not to let it get to her...again, the keyword is try. === WOOOO that was a lot!! But I hope it answered any questions you might have (as well as some others in my inbox LOL) and I hope I got everything! Sorry for the long read, but thanks for being invested in my silly little guys!!

The Dissection of Hazbin Hotel, Episode One: part 2
We got through the opening monologue and here we are in the show proper. Now, we finally get into the episode itself and explore the boring middle. Everyone ready?
CW: This part will briefly touch on Angel Dust's SA.
Part 1:
Part 2: //
Part 3:
Part 4:
Tumblr media
--Aaaa ew there it is. This is the first bit of real animation we get from the show, when Charlie lifts up the key.
Somehow, just this one little motion looks awful. As the key moves with Charlie’s hand, it doesn’t look like it’s physically in the world with her.
The animation department was fucked over so badly. It really, really shows.
--Lilith has been missing for 7 years.
Because of course she has. We can’t make the twists with her character TOO subtle!
This is really just trying to make us feel bad for Charlie, but Charlie and Vaggie’s voices sound so lifeless and disinterested that it elicits no emotion from me. (If I was a new watcher, it probably wouldn’t elicit any emotion from me if anyway, since we’ve JUST met Charlie and we haven’t gotten to know her yet; we have no attachment to her and thus can’t immediately care about her Sad Backstory. Missing Mom is a stock sad backstory anyway. We also don’t care about Lilith enough yet, because she was only a vague figure in a fairytale, we don’t actually KNOW her; in fact they even neglected to tell us what her dream was, or what she actually did in Hell, so we don't even have a vague idea to see her as a GOOD figure. And, if her empowering demons IS the reason for demonkind being so terrible, she may be a terrible person. So her missing status means nothing to us.)
--Soooooo……. The extermination just happened, but we’re not going to see any of its aftermath up close? We’re not going to look at the streets of Hell to see the carnage, or the damage? We’re just getting some overhead shots of the city smoking? Okay.
In the pilot, we had a long sequence where we saw the carnage and destruction the exterminators left behind. It was so much more impactful.
But we’re not doing that here. We’re staying up in this cozy penthouse just looking down at a still image of the city. Which means we’re not going to learn about the world at all. No establishing shots, no interesting or visceral imagery to get under our skin and make us FEEL for the sinners. This is very bad storytelling.
Also: If I didn’t know what the exterminations were like from the pilot, I might not even realize the smoke and fire coming off of the city was meant to be DAMAGE – I might just assume Hell was Just Like That.
Terrible job everyone. Terrible opening sequence.
--Vaggie: I enjoy your theatrics.
But Charlie didn’t do anything…
She didn’t even get to light the fireworks like she did in the pilot, which were the signal that the extermination was over and the sinners could come out.
--We go from the opening lore dump… to even more lore dumping!! Yay!!
This is so boring. It’s boring composition and boring animation and boring dialogue with actors who sound sleepy.
Vaggie and Charlie are sitting in a room talking. They’re not even doing anything interesting to look at. This is telling and not showing.
They mention their love for the kingdom, but again, we don’t have any scenes showing the streets, the deceased, and the normal citizens, which might make the AUDIENCE care about it. As of now, the audience doesn’t care because we aren't seeing anything. Throughout the opening fairytale and up to now, we haven’t learned a single thing about how this version of Hell functions. (And we don’t learn that through the entire episode.)
--This dialogue is also so stilted. “I just hope what I’m trying to do here will work.”
Can you have any personality in your lines at all? In the pilot, Charlie says “I don’t know if I’m going to make a difference, I don’t know what I’m doing”, which is just a bit more personal for her; she wants to MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
In the pilot, Charlie’s voice was so much more energetic, and sounded optimistic. Here, yeah she’s SAD and obviously being sad will make her sound softer, but pilot Charlie had a bright, optimistic tone that showed her optimism was unshakable.
--Alastor’s commercial. He really shouldn’t be making this. He’s the radio demon. The conflict is that he doesn’t want to make a TV ad, but was forced into it. This is a dumb conflict. Alastor would never do something he didn’t want to.
Afterwards, the B Plot of the episode will have Vaggie filming a commercial (a second commercial to be better than Alastor’s), and eventually she’ll coerce Alastor into helping her film it. So THAT MEANS Alastor’s first commercial was entirely pointless! Why not streamline this entire B plot? Skip Alastor’s first commercial; the gang gather together and discuss ideas for a commercial; Al is against it, Charlie has too many grand ideas, Vaggie is down to Earth, and Angel offers himself as an actor; then Charlie gets called away, so she gives the responsibility to Vaggie; Vaggie struggles but then Al steps in to help because he knows an empty Hotel will be boring; he then uses his radio powers to create broadcast an advertisement through the airwaves.
Alastor’s voice is also so tame now too. I dislike it heavily. Every line lacks the insane edge it had in the pilot and the radio filter is toned down.
They massacred my fave.
Raggle Fraggle.
--Alastor should never say “daddy issues.” That’s just way too modern. ALSO NOT REALLY? It’s not daddy issues?? If anything, Charlie has talked much more about Lilith in this version, saying it’s her mom’s dream. Daddy Lucy has nothing to do with this. Get your words right, you stupid script.
--The animation is just really bad, especially the part with the rafter falling down from the ceiling.
Also wasn’t it Alastor’s job to use his magic to clean this place up? He did a horrible job.
--Uh huh. We’re continuing the trend of nothing being explained. How the Hotel came to be, and how the crew was amassed, is not going to be explained at all.
We’re dropped in here blind with it already having happened.
It’s true you can’t just recreate the pilot for episode 1, but this is the worst way they could have possibly reintroduced the world.
If you didn’t watch the pilot, then you’d have NO idea what was going on in this place.
--Alastor: So, what do you think?
When I first heard this line it made me sad.
When I hear this line now, it makes me sad.
--Vaggie: I’m sorry, what the fuck was that?
There it is, the unfunny Fuck word being used like a joke.
Pro-tip: just saying the word Fuck does not make a joke. We as humans grow out of this when we stop being high schoolers.
Tumblr media
--Why does Alastor look mad when Charlie says the tone of the advertisement is “a bit off?” Nothing should be able to shake him. If anything, he should revel in their discomfort (he reveled in their discomfort in the pilot.) In the pilot, he probably would have made the advertisement like this INTENTIONALLY just to get a reaction out of them and to see them squirm. Here he acts like he wanted them to like it and is upset they don’t.
It makes him look pouty. And making him pouty makes him look weaker.
Tumblr media
The heck’s up with this shot? What a weird angle.
--Alastor hasn’t been active in Hell for some time, huh? It’s because he was hired by Rosie, who is Lilith, who went missing 7 years ago. Viv can’t keep a plot twist secret.
Also, the animation for Alastor when he says he hasn’t been active in some time is weird. It… I wanna say feels kind of noodley? It has a different quality from the rest of the animation.
--Alastor: So I had a little fun with it.
That was a good shot of him passing his microphone from one hand to the next. It’s a second long but I’ll give them that. Maybe Al will get the few scraps of anything decent that come out of this. (Probably not. The leaks say otherwise.)
--Vaggie: well this is NOT what we want to represent us. …. Instead you’re MOCKING us.
These words are oddly stilted again. It’s like when characters speak like they know too much therapy language, when they really shouldn’t.
--Oh Angel. There he is.
….After Viv blew the budget on hiring expensive voice actors, I think all the remaining shoestring budget went into animating him, because he’s way more fluid than the others.
………….Because of course more attention is given to Angel (male) than to Charlie, the actual main (female) character.
--Angel wants to have a porno where he’s sleeping with Alastor. Alastor replies: “Haha. Never going to happen.”
This line lacks any of the manic energy that Alastor had in the pilot – there, when Angel said “I can suck your dick!” Alastor had a short moment where he was shocked, but then he replied with an energetic “HAH! No!” where he still sounded like he was having fun. In Episode One, Alastor sounds tired and annoyed, which takes away his feeling of power. He’s supposed to be this big Overlord; if he had actually laughed heartily and said “~HA HA HA HA! NEVER going to happen, my dear fellow!!~” with oomph, it’d be more in line with how in control he is of everything – but he’s not. He’s whiny. He’s weaker.
This moment shows that OTHER CHARACTERS have the ability to get under his skin when nothing should be able to get under his skin. He's the one who makes everyone else's skin crawl and loves it.
--“This body was MADE to be exploited!”
Alright, show, I’m going to stop you right there.
There's too much to unpack here. People better qualified than me already have.
So let’s begin by saying: Angel being sexual is not the problem. Using sexuality as a coping mechanism is not the problem. However, this crosses the line right from the start.
Angel is the victim of SA, which this has given him trauma. Remember Addict, one of the highest points in Vivzie’s career? Addict showed how BAD he feels by his exploitation; it actually took his situation seriously. At the end of Addict, Angel had frank lyrics where he finally admitted to himself that he was addicted and helpless, and was reluctant but willing to try for something better by staying in the Hotel. Everything Hazbin-related leading up to the show was Angel wanting to ESCAPE his sex-trafficked life.
So for Angel to joke about his body being made to be exploited… Just… How could you possibly think it’s okay? There is no tact here. There is no plausible deniability because of Angel’s history with SA; he’s saying his body is made to be SA’d.
If Angel had replied something like:
Charlie: I don’t want to exploit you in that way!
Angel: Aww, dame! I wanna help ya out, and this is just what I’m good at!
It wouldn’t be so heinous.
Or Angel could be shown to be a little socially intelligent about how Hell works:
Charlie: I don’t want to exploit you in that way!
Angel: But dame! Dame, ya gotta listen. This might be a squeaky clean joint for prudes, but Hell’s full of sexy, sex-loving freaks! And I’M the most famous sex-loving star is all of Hell! If you put me on your advertisements, you’ve got a GUARANTEED audience, and boy is it a massive audience! Your Hotel’ll make it to ALL those sinful, lusty sexlords who get off to me! I mean, you’re the one tryinna redeem ‘em, don’t you think some of THEM might be interested?
(I do kind of like that now that I’ve written that down; at least in that version, Angel actually has something going on in his brain. And Charlie can either concede and be like “yyyyyeah… I guess… you’re right…” or she can go “no Angel you left that life and I won’t be an accomplish making you go through that anymore.” Or something. SHOW SOME FUCKING CHARACTER.)
There isn’t even anything to joke about with the line as it is. It’s just… thoughtless.
(And... from episode 4... God. It's sickening. This is just a taste of how BAD it is going to get.)
--Angel’s joke about his body parts goes on way too long. The joke overstays its welcome.
Tumblr media
--Why is Angel drawn with pink lines on half of his body while all the other characters have full black lines???
--“Oh Trust Me, I can!” Man… it was a glimmer like this shot that makes me miss what Alastor used to be. It’s actually kind of fluid, and it’s like seeing a tiny bit of what the character could have been. But it still, again, completely lacks the raw DANGER and unhinged-ness the originala brought to the show.
--Oh Husk. Oh, Husk, no. Your voice. Oh Husk. They fucked you up. Where’s the exhaustion, where’s the jadedness? You don’t sound burnt-out and hollow (like a HUSK) like you’re supposed to. Good lord.
Also… “Why do you think I’m here? You think I’d be cleaning bottles and listening to you fucks whining if he wasn’t forcing me?” So much telling and not a single ounce of showing.
--Nifty: I like being forced.
………… A little too close to Angel Dust's thing to be saying that, Nifty.
--THIS IS TOO MANY CHARACTERS ALL AT ONCE. This is a huge overload of information. How is a newcomer to the series supposed to register and remember all these guys? (We haven’t even gotten to Adam and Lute yet, meaning even more are on the way.)
Husk and Nifty don’t even do anything in the episode. They don’t need to be here.
--Apparently, Angel has a habit of harassing Husk. I’m worried. Listen: sexually harassing anyone is not okay and it’s not funny. In the pilot, Husk showed disinterest in Angel’s flirting, but nothing super outright or angry – here, he sounds angry. He sounds serious. He doesn’t want to be flirted with. But Angel doesn’t stop. This is not okay.
Why doesn’t Angel understand consent if his entire character arc is about SA and escaping exploitation. Of ANY character, he should have some modicum of self-awareness about this. At the least, they needed to dial back his lines. He’s already gone too far, as we’ve mentioned.
(...From the rest of the episodes, and the leaks, god it gets so much worse.)
--Vaggie: We can’t force sinners to stay here. They have to choose to.
Wow, can you sound ANY deader, Vaggie. This line is miserable.
--Angel thinks the hotel’s idea is stupid. So… why is Angel having this conversation with VAGGIE? This is Charlie’s show! This is Charlie’s dream! This is Charlie’s endeavor, the thing SHE believes in! Charlie is the main character; she is the one who is fighting for redemption!
Why isn’t it Angel and Charlie having this conversation, so Charlie has to defend her stance and Angel can challenge her, and it’ll be our first sign of Charlie facing opposition?
As it is, Vaggie doesn’t even sound convicted in their idea. Her voice is just fucking dead. And Angel cares nothing for the Hotel as stated, so he doesn’t bring any life into this discussion. Charlie is NEEDED in these scenes to bring energy to it.
It's because Charlie isn’t the main character. Viv doesn’t like female characters. She’s the main character in-name only. The male ones like Angel, Alastor, etc, are the ones that are the focus. This becomes more apparent with further episodes too.
--Angel: Crack is expensive.
Angel just coming out and saying that to Vaggie, when like, being off drugs was one of the conditions to staying in the hotel. He says he wants keep staying at the hotel rent-free, he should be hiding that he’s doing it so they don’t cut him from the program and tell him to get lost.
----------
So that was our first look at the show proper. I think that’s a good place to pause, because now, we’re coming into the worst part of the episode, where this train wreck just fucking falls over the edge of a cliff. It will have my most intense thoughts, and explain how Hazbin destroys itself before it can even begin!
Stay tuned!

Sky lore/headcannons dump part two boogaloo. This one is about spirits, and maybe a little about skids and winged light
part one in link below
So I like to put spirits into a hierarchy: Elder spirits, Season guides, and Regular/Seasonal spirits. So. What are they?
Spirits are beings of pure light, just like winged lights are. I'm not talking about those btw because idk what they are in my head... yet. But! that's not exactly it. Here, spirits are more like the... vessels, of light. In order to function, and be aware, they gotta be supplied with light. Otherwise! They will enter a dormant state.
And, of course, not everyone gets the same amount of light- Elders get it directly from skids (cutsceeeeenes~), Season guides get it from you finishing their quests (yay), and Regular spirits.... get it from season guides or Eden itself (last one is only when they come as ts or something). This would explain why we see some spirits out and about, while others aren't (e.g. performance spirits compared to... I don't know, Abyss)
Also this would mean that Hopeful Steward takes care of it for the regular spirits in aviary lmao
Anyways! Regular spirits CAN be woken up by skids. just give them a little light like skids do to elders (unfortunately this isn't part of the game), and then they're out and about until the light you gave them fades out- takes about an hour or so, depending on how active they will be. and here's where we go into the headcannons zone, returning to winged light even though I can't explain those.
If regular spirits want to be out and about for MORE than an hour, they would have to take a winged light- filling up their "vessel" in a self-filling loop. OFC, after having taken one, they can fly but beware- never let them use the last star on their cape. they'll just dissipate and you'll have to wake them up again :T
also, if you want to make things more interesting, make it so that it would be inadvisable to wake them up for the first time by yourself- wait for them to have come as a ts at least once. that way, you don't have to deal with them violently reliving their death by Eden shattering for the first time.
also, I like to think that season guides have at least some control over their seasonal area (if they have one), while elders are stuck in their statues (rip), can oversee the entirety of their realms, and have limited control over them. Also! they can meet each other in an in-between if needed (aka vault elder scene)
anyways onto skids. They're literally just fallen stars given form. We all knew that. And if they give up their light, they become ancestors/elders depending on how much they gave up (check part one). they're here to make sure that the balance of the realms won't tip over to darkness.... and here to also clean the mess that SOMEONE made (looking at you, Resh. naughty little skid you are, exploding eden)
aaaaand that's it for now. if I think of something I'll add more parts. otherwise! only headcannons from me from this point on.

(ノ ^▽^ )ノ I’d love to know some fun facts about Chip! What his life was like before becoming a courier and how long he was a courier?
YES absolutely!! i actually have a whole Timeline for this that's changed a lot since i initially created him. he's got Deep Lore and stuff ( •̀ ω •́ ) I don't think I've ever shared it here!
Chip's father (a caravaneer) went missing when he was about 16 years old--He was often away, but when he didn't visit or write for months on end, it became clear that something had happened that had taken him away from the family.
Chip (then going by Danny/Daniel, his "real" name) left home at 17, hoping to find his father. He ended up working with caravans himself for about a year, and probably doing occasional courier jobs with the Mojave Express throughout Utah, Nevada, California and Arizona.
It was in Arizona that he was captured by Legion--Wrong place wrong time. I imagine him being lumped in with people from a recently conquered tribe or settlement. Because he was AFAB, healthy, and of a certain age, he was treated as a woman and was a marriage candidate for Legionaries. A young Decanus, Drusus Caelius Modius, volunteered to take him, and they were married in a mass wedding.
Good news for both Drusus (who goes by Caelius mostly) and Danny, they're both gay men and he was affirming of Danny's gender. Their relationship wasn't bad all things considered, they were considerate of one another, and loved each other in their own way. They eventually grew closer during their two years married, and had a pair of twins together in 2279, Castor and Pollux. By this point, the Legion had unfortunately caught onto the fact that they referred to each other as husbands and were generally not being quiet enough about the nature of their relationship. In an act of "mercy", the Legion would allow them both to live, provided their marriage be dissolved and Danny become a Legionary.
Before this could happen, Caelius facilitated the escape of Danny and their twin boys. The kids were left with one of his aunties to be taken care of, and he proceeded to flee to the Mojave. He joined up formally with the Mojave Express, and made semi-frequent trips (much like his own father had) to visit his children.
Then of course he takes the Platinum Chip job and everything goes to hell. He loses all his memories, and stuff about his family in Battle Mountain comes back before his memories of Caelius, his time with the Legion, and his own kids. There's a whole storyline in my mind about him reconnecting with Caelius throughout the course of NV, but that's it's own post!
I think in all, Chip had probably about 2 years of actual courier experience before the Incident. He's lived an extremely interesting and storied life, its just that he can't remember the last like 7 years (where the most wild stuff has happened)
ANYWAYS, sorry for the long post and lore dump, I hope it was interesting! Thank you so so much for asking, I love sharing my lore and the little stories in my head :3

why is usagi yoimbo so fucking good? (an analysis.)
Tumblr media
usagi yojimbo is one of the most interesting, well-told, intelligent, heartfelt stories i have ever read. it's stories are nuanced and likable, supported by characters and relationships you root for.
it's simple, balanced, and when things get serious, you feel it.
and if anyone had recommended it to me, i probably wouldn't have read it.
(spoilers for usagi yojimbo: volume two; jizo. fair warning: this will probably go long.)
i picked up uyv2 on a whim. i wasn't really planning on reading it, and if i did, i didn't think i would particularly like it.
but it was related to my current hyperfixation (they didn't have 'the last ronin' in stock, which was what i was looking for), and it was a special day, so i thought, "fuck it, i'll buy this."
a couple days later, i finished it and immediately needed more. yada yada, tale as old as time.
but what exactly made it so good? a lot of people will get into media and be hooked by the very first installment. usagi yojimbo, for me, required a little bit of faith.
Tumblr media
i started with uyv2: issue one, aka 'shades of green.' if you're a tmnt fan, this is a great jumping off point, because it lures you in with tmnt lore all while putting intrigue in your mind about what these other guys are doing, i guess.
there are callbacks to past comics that might interest you by creating a greater sense of lore and history. you'll find yourself eventually wandering back and maybe reading the next installment, just because.
this is very good, because the next installment following the shades of green arc (at least, in the usagi yojimbo saga: book one') are the "side stories," which will stick in your mind until your thoughts are overtaken by the funny rabbit guy, and you give in.
i love shades of green as much as the next guy, but damn, those side stories fuck. even if you didn't give a shit about the turtles and only read the stories (and maybe the origin tale), it is my belief that you would know basically everything you need to know.
jizo is what originally "hooked" me. in the og comics, it was a side story for the first part of the shades of green arc, which was ingenious, seeing as it's fucking amazing.
in my humble opinion, jizo is an example of sakai at his best. it's eight pages long with three panels per page, each following the same composition. its so simple, and yet, throughout my read-through of volume two, i found myself returning to it again and again.
it starts off with an image of a road, with a series of travelers passing by. a woman toting a small stone statue brings it to the edge of the road and starts on an iconic sakai infodump, with might disinterest some, but fully delighted my autistic mind!
Tumblr media
(here she is, by the way.)
she explains (by talking to the statute) that said statue is a representation of 'jizo-sama,' "guardian of the souls of lost children. her son was murdered five days ago on this very road, and the ones responsible, a party of bandits, have not yet been caught.
her hope is that by praying to the statue, nobody else will suffer the same fate.
she also explains some lore-- that the souls of lost children are "doomed to pile stones in the dry river bed of souls." by offering pebbles at the statue's base, she hopes to ease her sons' burden.
she then leaves, noting a chill in the air, and promises to bring back a coat for the statue the following day, in order to keep it warm.
now, by all accounts, this is an example of bad storytelling. just info-dumping is uninteresting to the audience, and clunky. well, here we are reminded that actually, if your story is worth telling, nobody gives a shit if you commit "writing sins" (see 'lord of the rings' for more examples of this. yes, uy is good enough to be compared to lotr.)
but anyway, the day progresses. there are lots of fun details in these scenes --
Tumblr media
--like this guy ^, who we meet/meet another person akin to later on in volume two (music from heaven). we also see a couple of people make offerings on their way past, which is nice (:
night falls, and with it comes-- holy shit-- its the funny rabbit guy again!
he's alone, just passing by. he doesn't even seem to notice the statue on the side of the road.
we then get some of my all-time favorite uy panels, and a perfectly-executed scene showcasing some of usagi's core beliefs and character.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so the bandits (yes, those bandits) attack. and usagi five-v-one's them. the guards come, clean things up, etc etc. more usagi characterization shines through. and usagi leaves.
all the while, jizo-sama observes.
but wait. if you're anything like me, you might notice a small detail between in two frames.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
that's right-- the statue of jizo smiles. which could be creepy in any other context, but its only for a single panel, so you might assume it was just a quirk of the artwork on that one page.
but, no.
in the morning, the woman comes back.while wrapping the statute in a coat, she says, "huh? your expression has changed-- you look more at peace-- but that's impossible! isn't it?"
she ultimately decides not to worry about it, but does mention that it'll probably cause more people to be willing to give offerings as well. which leaves us with our final panel.
Tumblr media
so. what exactly does jizo accomplish?
well, a lot of things. it sets up worldbuilding for the more 'mystical' side of uy, introduces us to sakai's ability to make you feel like you've been punched in the gut in a good way, and characterizes usagi using only eight of the twenty-four panels that make up this story. in which, he doesn't say a word.
but beyond that. why does this work so well?
for me, a part of it is the inversion of the idea of "fate." let me explain-- in a lot of stories like this, there's this underlying trope of the "chosen one" or that things will end up a certain way. while these stories aren't bad, i generally find myself uninterested in the idea of beings beyond our comprehension pulling the strings for characters that are "special."
these characters are chosen ones. they're supposed to know everything that will go down, because they're important. whether or not fate actually plays a part, you get this idea that they were always supposed to be 'chosen,' in some way or another.
uy doesn't do that. while there is some "meddling" implied, it's not because usagi is the specialest boy ever. he's just some guy making his way through japan while trying not to starve. just... figuring himself out.
in thise story, the only people who know the full extent of the narrative are ourselves and the statue of jizo. the woman shows no indication that she's heard of the bandits' capture, and for usagi, this is just another night.
it's meaningful because we get to see all these parts of the story come together, while knowing we are the only ones this is meant for. this isn't a grand story or some epic of old. it's just a small, intimate moment of retribution.
the gods-- or, in this case, jizo-sama-- doesn't care about heroism outside of this moment. it's left vague whether or not the statue or any being it represents put this moment into fruition. if anything, it could just be a coincidence, and the statue is smiling at in gratitude.
regardless, it feels so much more meaningful than if it had been done any other way. usagi is just a character traversing these lands, weaving in and out of stories, many he will never know the full extent of. and that feels real. genuine.
i do think that this changes a bit, later on in the comics, but this beginning sense-- that usagi is just travelling through a greater world, pulled this way and that for no particular reason (unless otherwise noted) is very refreshing for a series like this.
jizo does a lot of other stuff, too-- like that core characterization i mentioned above-- but this post is long enough. i wanted to get more into other aspects of why uy is so good, but there's just so much, and honestly, you should read it yourself if you haven't already to find out what. (at the very least, read jizo-- it's short, but very, very good.)
i might do more of these for the rest of uyv2 and how it hooked me, but for now, i this this works well enough to begin answering the question of why this series is so good.
(okay, i caved-- the core characterization is his unwillingness to fight unless it's necessary. now, go read jizo!)

So my last stream made me realise: I've never shared my MC lore??
Whenever I get to a new server I have a completely new skin, it's cause I like to come up with little stories/ characters/ concepts for it!
(With Haruven seasons lore, there are 2 lores. First one is the connecting lore from Season 1, the second is new characters each season with new lore)
And here they are!!!
Avatar:
Lyra is a Water Bender whose travelled to different towns/sanctuaries to improve their abilities. They struggle with bending - specificly in combat, they learned the hard way. However, this end up effecting Lyras' bending overall and they're worried they're losing the ability to bend all together.
Block Shift:
Ruthvik was a great redstone engineer but was struggling to get their new invention working, they seemed stuck, unable to figure out what was missing for months.
One day she was approached by a God/Spirit, claiming they were of Creation and wanted to help. Desperate, Ruthvik made a deal with the entity, allowing them to help with her creation and they would be free to build wherever in her world.
The god screwed them over. They were actually the God of Chaos and now  nothing can be properly built again.
Word got out about the deal Ruthvik made and they are constantly shunned by society for what they had done.
Essempi (Erets Sub-Server):
Yavai lived in The End for most of their life.
They have severe social anxiety and don't like interacting with people much, so they keep to themselves. However they did like to explore.
Wander the islands of The End, exploring abandoned ships and finding books on the world's around them.
They loved to learn about the Overworld, such a strange and interesting place. The End Ship are designed to travel back and forth between worlds by using a group of Enders teleporting powers to transport the ship. However Yavais' teleportation powers are very weak - they're lucky when they get to the top of an End City Tower. Yavai probably wouldn't be able to be near other crew members anyway, so they never bothered to apply for a Ship.
One day, Yavai found an old book, telling the story of an adventurer who played the Dragon - The Ends Tyrant - and the Universe granted them a way back home via a portal. That portal is still there.
Yavai built up the courage and ventured to The Centre Island and sure enough, the portal was still there.
Taking a literal leap of faith, they jumped through the portal and landed in the Overworld.
It was extremely overwhelming at first but when Yavai saw the beauty of the world, they decided to stay.
Free Souls (Mels Server:)
Myca has dedicated his life to the studies of - in summary - Life and the afterlife. Souls, gods and gods magic, the bridge between life and death and the tombstone keys that follow.
Haruven SMP:
Haru met Arion, a God of Creation.
The two grew close and eventually fell in love. Their love was so strong that Arion shared a small part of her power with them.
Soon, they were set to be married.
Before their happy day could be planned, Arion left and Haru waited for them to come back. And waited and waited and waited.
Worried for them Haru set off to go and find her, traversing the lands, searching through anything they can.
They found a few scrolls that allowed people to harness elememtal power learned by spirits.
Haru learned the technique of Water and learned quickly.
During their time there, they worked on an allium field, a place he and Arion could be when/if she returned.
She still didn't.
Haru was later approached by a God of Chaos, promising to tell them where Arion was in exchange for the small bit of power that she gave them.
Desperate, Haru agreed, but the plan backfired.
The small part of Creation mixed with Chaos, just caused a splatter of nonsense.
Haru is still trying to find their love, but now with spikes of Chaos around.

hi cubeguy i sent u an anons a while ago that i dont use tumblr but i periodically check ur blog bcus it specifically rocks & im back. i listened to an album u recommended on here but im curtailed by the character lim to give a review so i typed out a real time extremely long reaction to the songs LOL definitely the logical nextstep. its @ pastebin.com/Ejd8E9VX idk if im allowed to link shit on tumblr?? anyway i hope to get around 2 other musiks u like bcus i lovedd this btw its get to heaven that i listened to THANK U 🎀🙇‍♂️💋💗💗💗
HEY YOU HAVE AN AWESOME WAY OF TALKING ABOUT MUSIC. GRINS SO MUCH. i’m glad you enjoyed gth it’s so so special to me genuinely the album of all time …. my favorite songs off it are s/s/w/d the wheel and blast doors Lways a joy to see someone go crazy about them
Tumblr media
^ really fond of this descriptor here also i think it succinctly puts a lot of what i love about ee’s songwriting down into words…. the weird entanglement of love and hate and confusion and clarity it’s a very very special moodset
also YEAH the way you described the vocals…. the early everything everything albums play a lot with like. roughness and scratchiness and the kind of ‘animalistic’ register of the human voice. (honestly everything before raw data feel. this is literally because the singer just decided to learn how to sing in high registers without falsetto for the first time which is like cool but also AUGH i miss that old sound
OK SO the thing about this bit
Tumblr media
absolutely YES the thing about get to heaven is that it’s literally just like. a complete album of bangers. going down through their other stuff is gonna be a little more rocky, you might enjoy the like once-per-album weird slow ballads you might not, even though i’m lazy about listening to some of their weaker stuff when i do go through the entire albums i still find a lot of quirks in the instrumentation or lyrics that manage to impress me. i’d recommend delving into either man alive or arc next those are basically on par with gth although a bit more weird and morose? if you’re feeling it id then recommend raw data feel which oscillates more around pop/new wave but still has some really interesting musical constructions, gets extremely electronic and synthy…. a fever dream is like a 50/50 split between really long slow songs which are just Fine and really fast heavy bangers. just go listen to notln, can’t do, desire, good shot, run the numbers and ivory tower LOL. uhhhh reanimator is arguably their weakest album probably the most unremarkable but it’s also like my second favorite right after get to heaven. it’s weird and glowy and flimsier than their other tunes. that enchants me i guess…. they’ve also got an upcoming album that once again seems to be more pop oriented, cold reactor is the best of the singles they’ve released for it yet. what else. there’s like a youtube playlist out there of demo/outtakes/non album stuff that you can find real easy, there’s some really good stuff in there. personal favorites are the come alive diana demo, even the dogs and dna dump
ok so the fucking thing about the “lore” of this album. there technically isn’t any and most of ee’s albums are a per-song thing usually revolving around like. modern social commentary. the genius pages for most of their songs have like. direct songwriting annotations by the band and explain the thought process behind them. however for gth there’s also like a small layer of overarching lore about this one guy called thomas silhouette as a character. he’s not so much the crux of any narrative or presence as much as he’s just like. funny anagram arising from a lyric in fortune 500 that gets alluded to in later albums because he’s loosely representative of a lot of themes that get tackled in ee songs like capitalism and dread and shit like that

Hey!
im really sorry to bother you, I just wanted to ask you about the little nightmares book you mentioned in some of your post. I just can’t find any information about it and wondered if it might got cancelled or if I’m just to dump to research properly. Again I’m really sorry, maybe you have answered something like this already and I just didn’t find it while looking trough your blog. anyway I really enjoyed your thoughts on some of the popular theories in the fandom and your own takes were interesting to read too, so thanks for that!
Aaa thank you so much💖 I always appreciate when people enjoy my silly rambling... mmm so sillay
So. Unfortunately, the Amazon descriptions have been "hidden" because SOMEBODY in the fandom decided to notify Bandai Namco about it. They should still be on Amazon, but now nameless, making them much harder to find. I do have screenshots of the premises of both books though:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think that if they end up being released, these will be what the LN II comics were for LN 2... a preview of what's coming while also introducing us to new kids. The guidebook interests me because it could be a very interesting way to give us more lore through making it a journal kept by a kid, or possibly even passed down between multiple kids...
On the other hand, I say not to get our hopes up too much. We all know what happened when news of a TV series popped up years ago. 💔
These are the titles of both, if you want to try and look them up.

Lore Dump: Regarding the Supernatural
Note: This is gonna be a bit of a short one as it's more of a clarification for people who have Muses that are tied to the supernatural.
So, let me just get this out of the way and say that yes, there are elements of the supernatural present within the original SR games (although more so the first two, and that expansion I don't even consider canon). And while they aren't exactly anything that substantial, I've always seen that as an invitation to explore the concept further. Cause really, how the hell do you not love the idea of mashing organized crime and stuff that's far beyond the realm of comprehension together? It's definitely had a hold of me ever since a particular boss fight in the second game, but that's something I'll get to in a second.
Anyway, let me just lay it out like this; in the first SR, after the death of an important character (no spoilers on the off chance one of you actually wants to check out the series), you are given the chance to call up a number you might have seen around the map for a business known as Eye for an Eye. They are run by voodoo practitioners who can revive the aforementioned character, and have them come back as a zombie homie. This can also be done in the second game after the death of another major character.
Now, in addition to Eye for an Eye, we have a character introduced in SR2 who goes by the name of Mr. Sunshine. He is the second-in-command of the Sons of Samedi, a Haitian drug cartel led by a man who goes by the moniker of The General. Mr. Sunshine is important to our discussion because he is the first instance of The Boss encountering someone tied to the supernatural in the main plot, and not have it be just some silly little easter egg.
This is mainly shown during the fight you have with him (the mission is fairly graphic by the end), where Mr. Sunshine pulls out a voodoo doll that's able to both knock The Boss around, and keep himself invincible until the doll is shot out of his hands. Yet even on the brink of death, Mr. Sunshine is seemingly capable of reviving himself over and over again, right until The Boss decides to just decapitate him.
With all that said, you're probably wondering just what in the hell does any of that mean. Well, I think it's pretty simple; if the game is going to go out of its way to depict something as abnormal and clearly supernatural as that was, in a main mission no less, then what does that tell you about the rest of the world? What else might be lurking around that people might not be fully aware of? And yeah, I know it's kinda silly to go that buckwild over tiny little hints of shit being a little weird in this universe. But like hell am I keep myself or anyone else from taking the opportunity to explore that further.
And let me be clear, I'm not looking to do anything totally out there. There is a way to depict something regarding magic, the supernatural, and anything else that may fall under that category in a way that's both very interesting, and acknowledges that in a modern setting such as this, it's not commonplace. So I would absolutely love to do that with y'all. I love those kinds of settings, I love throwing Django into these situations where he has to deal with things that are soooo out of his league. It's a lot of fun! And I hope you can see that vision as well.

Hi pookie! I’d like to ask some questions about Jodie!
1: What’s her real name?
2: What did she do for Perseus before getting brainwashed by the CIA/MI6?
3: How old is she?
4: Does she have any living family left?
hELLO!! oh my god I'm really excited that you've asked! Right, I shan't dilly dally-
What's her real name?
Jodie's real name is Nadežda Pugachev - I was drawn to a different name initially, from what I can remember when I was researching Russian names, but then found this first name to be better fitting for her character. It means hope and that very thing is something that was always ingrained in her from very young, that there is always hope.
She actually decides to stick with Jodie Hall in the aftermath of Black Ops Cold War, as she begins to work for the CIA - due to the name being easily acknowledged as westernised and less likely to be scrutinised than her original name. That and she feels such a disconnect with the memory of who she was; she's certain that the day Nadežda was shot by Arash was the day that woman died, hence why she decides to stick with Jodie (and reluctantly, at one point,) Bell.
She will, at some point, reconcile with the name Bell and feel comfortable with that being used as her callsign. She does tend to fight it, though, especially in the months to a year or so after the events of the campaign.
2. What did she do for Perseus before getting brainwashed by the CIA/MI6?
To make things a little easier, whenever I reference this woman working for Perseus, I'll use the name they had for her - so her original, Nadežda.
So, I am probably going to end up revising her past at some point, as I'm not overly happy with it at the moment - I would like a more combat driven role for her, but I haven't figured that out yet.
As for where I am in her lore right now, Nadežda was an intelligence operator for Perseus. She was placed inside the KGB for a number of years, being his eyes and ears, seeing if there were any possible operators that she could suggest for recruitment into the faction.
It's also canon that Bell had remarkable cryptography skills, so she would often be used to encode or decode messages being received by either side, whether that be Russian, English, American, German, you name it; if it was information that Perseus wanted and was encoded, she could probably crack it. She had an extremely analytical mind growing up and that's something Perseus liked about her - her sharp mind.
Too sharp, at times, he might add.
3. How old is she?
At the time of the campaign, in 1981, she would be 41! Her date of birth is 11/11/1940 :)
4. Does she have any living family left?
Sadly, not anymore. Perseus saw to that.
She had a brother, though, whose safety was the entire reason she agreed to take Perseus up on his offer of "join me". She literally gave up on her chance of having a relatively normal life to ensure that her brother would want for nothing, promised as such by Perseus.
I don't want to give too much away about Perseus' involvement in her childhood, but know that he's a rat and probably had a whole lot to do with how she got thrown onto the life path that she did; this being, somewhat, unbeknownst to her for most of her life.
Ah, the sweet scent of betrayal, it follows her wherever she goes, the poor thing.
====
Just want to say a big thank you for your interest in Jodie!!! If you have any more questions, then please don't hesitate! I've tried not to completely info dump on you, as I didn't want to give you an essay to read- tho... I think I probably have anyway XD
but yeah, thank you thank you! you're a star!!! <3
