One of the recurring issues I've seen mentioned by transmasculine sex workers, whilst putting together "Working Guys: A Transmasculine Sex Worker Anthology", is the fear that getting top surgery will result in a huge loss of income and clients.
This fear isn't an irrational one. Straight men are the largest demographic among clients, so being able to work under the guise of being a cis woman can have a big impact on how much money you can make. Top surgery is often the line where that's no longer possible.
If reading about these experiences is something that interests you, the crowdfunding for Working Guys: A Transmasculine Anthology goes live on the 1st of May!
Read about the project there: https://workingguys.carrd.co

There is so little out there that describes the experiences of trans guys and transmasculine non-binary people doing sex work, which made me feel really alone when I started... which is why this project is really important to me.

In light of the Taylor Swift ai shit I just wanted to say very clearly:
THIS IS NOT ABOUT BEING ANTI PORNOGRAPHY OR ANTI SEX WORK!
It IS, however, about Taylor not consenting to the images being made with her likeness. It's disgusting and horrible because it's explicit content made without consent, not because it is explicit content.
Sex work is WORK a woman (or anyone of any identity, but rn focusing on woman identifying individuals) can CHOOSE to do, with proper payment for her labor and a lot of check points during, before, and after to make sure she fully consents to the content.
Taylor didn't consent, she got her consent trampled on and mocked. That's why this shit is fucking disgusting and it shouldn't be permitted on any level, but don't hurt other woman by trying to put them out of a job because your uncomfortable with real consensual sex work or find it unsavory. What other woman do is none of your business.
P.s if you negatively interact with this post your just adding to my block list

hate the term “radical feminism”. it implies, like, feminism but More when in reality it’s seneca falls convention level feminism that’s only radical on one dimension (if you’re white, cis, usually economically advantaged, and fit into the standards of “woman” appearance wise), and basically completely identical to conservative/reactionary thought except on the dimension of (cis) Woman Good, Man (or trans woman) Bad.
shouldn’t we call it ‘regressive feminism’ instead?

I've spent a year collecting quotes from transmasc sex workers, including trans men and non-binary people, through surveys and interviews.
There are many of us doing sex work, just not many ways for us to share our experiences - hence my current project.
Many of the trans people I spoke to or surveyed are working under the guise of being cis women, like I once did, because it is more lucrative.
Some trans guys told me that they struggle to feel like a part of the sex work community, either because people enter SW spaces with the assumption everyone is a woman saying "hey ladies!" or because of the commentary about men as if they're a different group from sex workers.
Please share this post to help me inform more people about trans men and transmasculine non-binary people in sex work. We exist!
If this interests you, find out more about my project here and consider signing up to be notified when the Kickstarter goes live (early supporters get extra perks)!

I don't think 🌽 is inherently bad.
I think SW has been corrupted by the patarachy and capitalism.
I think the stigmatization of sex work is a huge reason why so much abuse happens in the sex work industry.
I think stigmatizing SW consumption makes it harder to call out people who abuse SWer and shut down many productive conversations about SW.
I think how sociting is saying SW is dehumanizing to work is a self fulfilling prophecy.

Like I gotta tell you the fact that humans experience sexual feelings might just not be the biggest problem in the world. I don't think some pubescent kid getting weird feelings about boobs is like personally oppressing women. Obv we need to teach people not to force their sexual wants and needs on others. But like. That's the same w not forcing things on others in general and teaching respect and self-regulation.
Sex work is work and deserves the same respect and regulation as any other work. You claim the porn industry is inherently misogynistic and that actors themselves are misogynists but have you ever considered that judging a woman's value by her sexual exclusivity and modesty is the most wildly misogynistic shit? Have you ever considered, dear fake feminists, that YOU are the misogynists whose "activism" only applies to the women YOU think deserve equality and freedom and rights. If your feminism doesn't have room for sex workers or trans women or women of color it is not feminism; it's just misogyny. You don't want equality, you want a matriarchy where only Acceptable Cis White Modest Christian Women are on top. So basically the exact model of the patriarchy but with Specific women instead.
