okay so like two things about this particular line.
one: i like the irony in claude telling someone to trust more.
two: HOWEVER, dimitri has literally absolutely no reason whatsoever in the name of yeehaw fuckity to not trust claude. i hate the way the game tries to absolutely force the things gw/sb claude does into ag when it doesn't even exist at all in ag. he never made a single hint of planning to just betray/harm the kingdom and this is literally at their first war meeting. not just that, but claude chose to go to faerghus himself and didn't ask them to go to leicester (which he specifically states being the one to choose to go to faerghus), so there wasn't anything indicating he might be up to something at all.
then we've got this stupid nugget:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
each side lacks trust and is expecting foul play? the church expects foul play from the kingdom? from the alliance which has done nothing to them in this route, and that's bad enough... but the fucking kingdom too?
the kingdom and alliance watching for foul play even though they're allies and never had a history of being aggressive toward each other?
i know i've talked about it before but... i just hate how they tried to force this "claude is always scheming something terrible" plotline, even where it doesn't belong. then they also added in the dumb bit here about even the church not trusting the other armies, even though they've... literally been helping them, gratefully, this whole war. they also didn't have to fight but chose to out of gratitude for being sheltered.
suddenly after the timeskip they just... don't trust each other?
like i totally get just being in it to reclaim gm and go home and not really in it for someone else or anyone else, but the distrust is just an asspull to make the church seem BaD as usual.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
claude just walked in and wasn't trusted. they also keep hammering it in right through the whole second half of the route with lots of kingdom allies (including playable ones) not trusting him. even if they relatively trust the alliance and the soldiers helping them that were integrated into their army, they specifically do not trust claude at all and are apprehensive about him.
dimitri agrees here if they can't be trusted, but he doesn't mention just personally distrusting them a whole lot. he agrees that they should be cautious if what the others say is true, but he also just shrugs it off as "they'll be enough to deal with the alliance if so". he seems unsure at first and kinda goes back and forth, but by the end he's the only character who faithfully believes that claude isn't just fucking around and leading them on (which literally, right to the very very very end, every single character except him is still very vocally doubting claude).
but like... why? there's... just... nothing to distrust him because of in this route. man literally exists and the game wants us to believe he's untrustworthy.
Tumblr media
yeehaw wtf??? why would anything happen between the kingdom and alliance after the war? why would anything need to happen? even if you try to argue that claude is gonna try to uwu depose of the top church officials, if the church is watching the kingdom like hawks like dimitri is apparently aware of, why would the kingdom get involved? why would they care? clearly the church doesn't trust them all that much after all, or at least anymore since the timeskip for some unknown reason, and the kingdom has now, after this war, paid back any debt it owed the church.
so like, why would they suddenly rush to the church's aid and help them if the church doesn't trust them? if they were friendly/allied it would make sense if they still wanted to help, but if the church is expecting foul play from the kingdom, why would the kingdom even care what happens to the church? they could turn a blind eye and pretend they don't have the resources to aid them anymore and that their own territory is still busy recovering.
even if you argue what they discussed at the very beginning of the war, the church either A: didn't ask for aid in this second conflict, or B: even if they did, the above stands. i don't think there would be any riots or anything like that in those cases if the kingdom didn't help the church. it's one thing to help, but it's another to just fight at the back and call of another territory, which dimitri clearly expresses he won't do in gw because he puts the safety of his people first. no matter what his feelings are on the matter, he knows he's a king and that he has a responsibility to his people first and foremost, as would be expected of a king (to protect his own people first and foremost).
while i could see claude wanting to talk after the war and get things straight, and while i could see dimitri there as a mediator, there's just... literally no reason for bad blood after all this. even if they don't trust each other, there's just no reason - and that's aside from the fact that it's total bs that they all just don't trust each other.
Tumblr media
lorenz just asks if shez has confidence in them. doesn't mention claude. shez though just... randomly is like oh yeah btw just not claude. totally unprompted.
lorenz distrusting claude has been part of his character since houses so his part of it is reasonable. normally i'd say it's really pushing things with claude not being trustworthy for someone to say they feel bad for shez/the kingdom army for the implication of having to deal with claude even as an ally, but the only reason i give this a pass is because it's an understandable and reasonable character who says it.
still though, it's like the game throws it in at every single possible opportunity for no reason at all. they don't give us any indication that claude is this big bad evil guy. he doesn't trust the church. like... that's it. he made that clear even in ag (even without the zaharas chapter), and that's just... it. the rest of this makes it seem like claude is going to just up and invade the kingdom after this war and try to unify fodlan (i.e. just go what edelgard's been doing this whole time).
it's just like... here, nobody trusts claude at all in this game just for simply existing. you don't even have to bring him up, because someone else will do it for you and shit talk him to remind you he's the biggest piece of shit the game can offer! meanwhile, we've got marianne who is concerned about edelgard (implication is her well being no less!) because the empire's army ain't doing so hot. poor indading aggressor! sure hope she's doing okay! fuck our leader though, he's the biggest steaming pile of bullshit garbage to ever exist (marianne didn't say that, but that's what the narrative is going for: poor edelgard, it's so sad that the invader is having it rough right now. anyway fuck claude he's literally as evil as tws).
i love ag but i'd say this is one of if not the worst hiccup in the writing. when it comes to faerghus itself and its characters, it's mostly fine and even great, but when it starts going into other territories/characters it ends up taking a nosedive in quality.
siiigh
#DCB Three Hopes Run#it's actually super ironic how ppl were lauding this after the trailers as#''it's gonna be the golden route game!'' like to begin with there was zero actual evidence of that#so idk why ppl just jumped to that conclusion based on snippets of in game events#but also like??? this game tore that apart like it was ripping up sensitive documents to be thrown out#literally straight up in every route went ''not a single territory trusts the other and they all secretly hate each other''#which. again. totally fucking stupid. but also hilarious that they went so far out of the golden route zone#and yet it's the game everyone was SO SURE would be the golden route#(even after they'd said they'd never make a golden route lmao)#but yeah the writing is just trash every single time they involve like anything outside of in-territory fighting#like the empire turmoil was fine. the writing wasn't really bad with the whole ludwig versus edelgard thing#and the stuff that was like leicester against almyra was fine. nader was even written well for that!#but once it gets into mingling territories however they're mingling be it fighting or allies#it gets so muddy and stupid and it's like what was even the point of doing that in EVERY route#hell by logic caspar would've been a recruitable character bc he'd see the bullshit going on in the empire and be like#wait this is fucked up nah im outta here i ain't fighting for this shit#but he just... stays??? bc he wants to fight for... edelgard??? who he is CLEARLY AWARE is not in charge anymore???#like if you were fighting for edelgard you would've fought against the ppl using her so... tws#even if you argue he didn't directly know it was thales and not ludwig at the helm caspar as he's supposed to be would never have#condoned what the empire was doing and would've left. if he thought it was ludwig in charge and hated what was going on he would've left#he's an idiot if he still thinks he's actually fighting /for/ edelgard at that point. his father even basically told him to get out of ther#but evidently once territories mingle in any way the writing just SKYDIVES out the window from the top floor of a skyscraper

Three Houses Trivia (& Analysis): How the writers roadblocked a Revelation-like route with impunity.
It’s no secret by now that Three Houses has no Golden Ending/Route where everyone lives and/or the big conflict is solved without the involved factions taking huge casualties, much to the chagrin of fans. IS & KT were even asked about it in a developer interview back in 2020, mainly because a previous entry in the series did feature one: Fire Emblem Fates:
In all four routes the player can go through, each story ends with Fódlan at peace, yet somehow there’s still this air of sadness. In Fire Emblem Fates, Revelation served as the all-encompassing “route” that wrapped up the games’ story. Was there any reason you didn’t make something like Revelation again?
Kusakihara: If we had created a route for Three Houses like Revelation was to Fates, that route would have definitely ended up being perceived as the “correct” route. In Three Houses, each route is its own history, and we wanted players to be able to decide that for themselves. In this game, the leaders of the three houses have their own unwavering beliefs and worldviews that are unique to themselves. We wanted to model the story and its themes after a dilemma that was grounded in reality, so from the beginning there were never any plans to make something like Revelation.
Yokota: I actually really love the big all-encompassing finales, but Kusakihara-san was so passionate about not including it we decided not to go with it. I also felt like we might just end up doing the same thing we did in Fates… I was pretty worried about it, so from the beginning I had decided I’d just go along with Kusakihara-san’s decision.
From a writing standpoint, I haven’t seen much talk about the specific decisions made for this purpose, which is why I wanna tackle the topic here.
To make things more interesting though, the focus will lie in how the Silver Snow route (the first story written for 3H) handles the conflict. After all, if there were truly no plans to make a definitive story branch, then we should be seeing some cues of it on this path alone.
Oh, and I know this is a given, but there will be spoilers for Three Houses (and almost none for Revelation).
With the introduction out of the way, let’s set the relevant context:
Fire Emblem Fates, and Revelation
Tumblr media
Fates' artwork was something else man...
Fire Emblem Fates was released back in 2015 in Japan, and 2016 internationally for the 3DS. One aspect marketing made sure everyone would know about was its branching story. And while before Three Houses, Fire Emblem was no stranger to the idea (given games like Binding Blade and Sacred Stones had branching paths which converge later), no game beforehand had previously based its entire narrative on this idea.
Fates was advertised with two main routes which, unless you had the Special Edition, Korean, or Digital version of the game, were sold in separate cartridges: Birthright, in which Corrin supports the Japanese-inspired Hoshido opposing Nohr’s invasion; and Conquest, where instead Corrin’s loyalty falls to the Western-themed Nohr seeking to invade Hoshido. A third path, Revelation, was also announced ahead of time, but not much was said about it beyond being a third option where Corrin sides with no one, and players would need to pay for it sometime after Birthright & Conquest’s launch unless they got the Special Edition (good luck getting it through legal means nowadays, given the E-Shop’s dead and all).
Either way, regardless of the story chosen/bought, the plot’s main goal always lies in finding a way to end the war between the 2 main factions. Of the three stories, Revelation is the only one where by the end, the solution reached allows both sides to come out relatively unscathed, while also directly dealing with the main source driving the war. This is why in the developer interview quoted, the devs talk about Revelation being perceived as the correct path.
In contrast, Three Houses has no such solution, nor were the developers - by their admission - interested in making it happen. As a matter of fact, I dare say that if one analyzes all the key pieces and the nature of their involvement with the game’s conflict, we can find instead three roadblocks complicating the possibility of a Revelation-like route ever happening.
These, for those wondering, are the following:
1. Edelgard: Agency, and Rise to Power
Tumblr media
She who commands her crimson destiny.
Silver Snow’s starting point from a story perspective is the conflict between Byleth and Edelgard (according to the game’s director), with the latter going from a big ally and deuteragonist during the first half of the story, to a major antagonist. Edelgard’s character, and her circumstances in which she assumes this role, is the story’s first identifiable roadblock.
As a quick backstory recap: In Imperial Year 1174, Thales (post body-snatching Lord Arundel) leaves the Kingdom along with Edelgard, and establishes a public partnership with the Adrestian Prime Minister Ludwig von Aegir under his Arundel disguise. With the assistance of House Vestra, Ludwig – in secret – had Edelgard and her siblings captured, and allowed his Agarthan partners to experiment on the Hresvelg children for the sake of, in Edelgard’s own words, “create a peerless emperor to rule Fodlan”, all while the actual Emperor was unable to do anything due to previously losing a power struggle vs Ludwig and the Adrestian nobility 3 years prior.
With only these events at hand, it’s clear Edelgard was intended in-universe to be a puppet emperor/super soldier hybrid meant to have the Empire wage war and conquer Fódlan. In any other instance, this context gives the narrative an easy way out for defusing the war; first by rescuing Edelgard, and then by spending the rest of the story dealing with Ludwig + Thales & their allies. That way, Edelgard is able to rise to power at the end and bring official closure to the conflict.
It’s right here however, where Edelgard’s own agency in the story shows the cracks with the idea, as the Black Eagles Route’s first half establishes:
Edelgard has her own bone to pick with the Church - one of the enemies she would inevitably face during the Empire’s conquest - and the social system it helped cultivate in Fodlan under Rhea’s leadership. Also-
Edelgard has been in talks with some of Ludwig’s own allies behind his back to ensure she reaches the Imperial throne on her own terms (which leads to her surprise coup from Ch. 11). And it’s all but stated this is possible because-
Edelgard has no qualms with waging war as long it’s a means to an end (see point 1), to the point she even assumes a secret persona - the Flame Emperor - to stage attacks against the Church before her coronation.
At many points in Part 1 of Black Eagles, Edelgard is even seen testing the waters with Byleth, confiding a bit on her ideology and plans for the future to see if they would be willing to stand by her side once the time comes, before finally relenting and continuing her plans as previously established before Byleth came into the picture.
These facts flip our understanding of the conflict and the key players driving it on its head. And this is considering only how Edelgard factors into everything, because with our other two parties involved, it gets even more complicated:
2. TWSITD: Scheming Outside Their Comfort Zone
Tumblr media
Credit to sageofanys for their interpretation of Cleobulus btw.
In the context of Fire Emblem, “those who slither in the dark” stand out like a sore thumb due to how alien they are. For the sake of this post however, I will only focus mainly on how the group’s used in the narrative they were originally created for, as it showcases our second roadblock.
The group assumes the role of the puppeteers behind the scenes, having already infiltrated the antagonistic faction of the story (the Empire) and using them to achieve their goals, while also playing a noticeable role in the backstory of some key players of the conflict. And given the archetype they follow, it appears there’s a clear cut way to stop them: just deal with them directly - while avoiding their puppets as much as possible - and bingo. Problem solved.
…Which would be a viable solution, if it wasn’t for Three Houses complicating the slitherers’ job, forcing them to work outside their comfort zone:
Remember when I mentioned Edelgard did some deals behind Duke Aegir’s back? Well, the Agarthans were part of those deals too due to utilitarian (manpower, assets and tech) and practical reasons (Edelgard is not in a position to get rid of them normally), foreshadowed and implied midway through Part 1. This results in-
Having the puppeteers lose much of their agency in the story once Edelgard assumes the Imperial throne. As mentioned earlier, the “puppet” in question gets control of the Empire once she assumes the antagonist role, and has her own reasons to wage war and conquer. This begs the question: How much control do the slitherers even have in the story once the war starts? Their uncertain input is even compromised further because-
Their success is entirely dependent on Edelgard winning. The slitherers have no trump-card nor a “revive this ancient evil” button freely available which could potentially make the need of a war pointless, meaning that once Edelgard and her Empire is taken care of, they have no choice but go into hiding to scheme again in the future, which is what happens in the story. Lastly-
They are acting on borrowed time. In spite of all their bravado, smugness, hi-tech toys, and hubris (heck, partly because of it), Edelgard, thanks to their established alliance with TWISTD and her own spies (ie. Hubert.) eventually gains the info needed to get rid of the group once their assistance is no longer needed, proven through Hubert leaking Shambhala’s location to Byleth after him & Edelgard are hit with a sudden case of death. Meaning that by the end, any potential win the slitherers gain is bound to become a pyrrhic victory.
So to wrap up this part, TWSITD’s purpose in Silver Snow’ main plot can be summed up as the following:
Remove Jeralt from the story, which leads to Byleth fusing with Sothis while also (unintentionally?) foiling Rhea’s plan for them in the process, which would otherwise never happen without their involvement.
Give Edelgard the means to remove Rhea from the story between Chapter 13 and 19.
Wound Rhea lethally near the end of the story, unwillingly setting her up as the Final Boss.
And speaking of which-
3. Rhea: Snow in the Crimson Gardens
Tumblr media
Not so immaculate as she wants you to think.
All I have covered so far comes from the antagonist-side of things. But because Three Houses' story is not done throwing wrenches at our understanding of how the war happens, it seems natural it would add one last, final roadblock within the main supporting roster of characters. And who else to give it than Rhea: Archbishop of the Church of Seiros; leader of Fódlan’s main religion; and Byleth’s boss for all of Part 1.
Within the narrative, Rhea’s role in the plot is very straightforward:
In the Academy Arc, she gives Byleth missions in the story for them & their class to do, while also delivering exposition whenever necessary.
Then in the War Arc of Silver Snow, she has to be rescued from the Empire, delivers one final piece of exposition the story teased late into Part 1 (what is Byleth and what’s up with their mom), and then becomes the Final Boss though circumstances beyond her control.
None of this is really a problem for writing a definitive 3H route. The crux at hand however, comes when we learn about Rhea’s character, painting a different looking picture:
She’s quite secretive, being her reasons for hiring Byleth as a teacher the best example of it in the story, as her vague justification for it puzzles Seteth (her right hand man), Jeralt, and even Edelgard.
As the story goes on, it’s also clear Rhea’s preparing and testing Byleth for something, later revealed to be their status as Sothis’ new vessel - with having them sitting on Sothis’ Throne the intended final step - which, not only doesn’t pan out as planned, it’s also something she kept everyone in the dark about on purpose up until it was too late.
Her answer against insurrections and direct threats against her authority is execution.
She is willing to cover-up truths if it means safeguarding the reputation of Crests and Nobility.
The last two points in particular stand out a lot considering that in Black Eagles’ story, these facets of Rhea’s character are often highlighted right next to Edelgard’s in adjacent events, further showcasing their differences.
Take Chapter 3, for example:
“Even if our enemies are the gods themselves... we must never lose sight of our goal. [...] Really, I'm just like Lonato. I, too, will be the sort of ruler who's willing to risk the lives of my citizens in service of a higher cause. It's not possible to change the world without sacrifice. Dying for the greater good is not a death in vain.” - Edelgard in A Harsh Reality
“I heard some of the students were...hesitant about fighting militia. However, we must punish any sinner who may inflict harm upon believers, even if those sinners are civilians. I pray the students learned a valuable lesson about the fate that awaits all who are foolish enough to point their blades towards the heavens.” - Rhea in Report: Garland Moon
And Chapter 5:
“I have already heard Gilbert's report about what happened. See to it that you keep what transpired at the tower to yourself. People would lose faith in the nobles should rumors spread of one using a Relic and transforming into a monster. All regions of Fódlan would fall into chaos. We must avoid that at all costs.” - Rhea in The Lance of Ruin
“People believe Crests are blessings from the goddess, that they're necessary to maintain order in Fódlan. But the people are wrong. Crests are to blame for this brutal, irrational world we live in. Their power is granted only to a select few, whom we elevate and allow to rule the world. Have you ever wondered if the only way to create a truly free world is to dispense with the goddess and the Crests?” - Edelgard in Crests: The Good and the Bad
The more the plot progresses, the more it becomes clear that both Edelgard and Rhea are not on the same wavelength, are up to their own devices, and that neither is willing to show their cards before their plans have reached completion. This ultimately causes tension, telegraphing to the player that both sides will eventually crash against each other, but without making certain when and how it will happen (one can guess Edelgard will throw the first stone, but…?).
Thus, with these 3 roadblocks set in stone, the seeds of Fodlan’s main conflict are allowed to blossom unopposed, setting the blazes of war loose.
… And all this is just as far as it goes in Silver Snow. Due to my self-imposed restriction, I deliberately didn’t cover stuff like:
Edelgard’s beef with the Nabateans and their involvement in Fódlan (which Silver Snow hints at but never elaborates upon).
The circumstances in which Dimitri’s rage and madness is unleashed towards Edelgard and the Empire.
The complicated relationship between the Alliance and the Empire.
What’s up with the TWSITD’s “Javelins of Light”.
What’s up with Nemesis coming back only in Verdant Wind.
And all the stuff that Warriors: Three Hopes shows, elaborates upon and makes clear with little room for ambiguity (like the fact Duke Aegir and Thales have history together), plus how the war happens in its timeline.
As a conclusion of sorts, I wanna say that: while I appreciate and see the potential of an hypothetical Revelation-like route in Three Houses, to me, it’s abundantly clear that’s simply not the kind of story IS and KT ever intended to write. Considering the sort of roadblocks at play, a major rewrite is required to even start entertaining such an idea, which would need to drastically shake the foundation of its story, lore, and characters as it currently is, to the point it’s worth raising the question if it would be far more practical to just start from scratch and create a whole new universe altogether…

perhaps.... flowey and/or undyne?
(very tempted to ask about asgore but)
hi! this is several months late! i apologize!
ask game
anyways, i’ll start with flowey
first impression
not too different from most of the fandom’s impression of him. little more than a weird two-dimensional villain character. i didn’t even realize that he is not a separate person from asriel for a good while. like, come on. there was a whole dramatic twist and everything. it should not have taken me as long as it did. (the fandom didn’t exactly help though -_-)
impression now
he is my favoritest boy in the whole entire world and, in my opinion, the best character in the game (though chara is still my personal favorite). it’s sad to see him get watered down to just “evil flower” and “poor little goat kid”, cause there’s so much more to him. he’s a fantastic character and he means so much to me.
favorite moment
i can’t chose between these:
“…why are you being……so nice to me? I just can’t understand…”
“I’m not ready for this to end. I’m not ready for you to leave. I’m not ready to say goodbye to someone like you again…”
in the true route you don’t have to forgive him, but you can still comfort him
when he talks to “chara” when you try to reset after the true ending, showing that he truly cares about frisk and the others and that he’s grown as a person and that he’s ready to say goodbye to his lost sibling
when he takes care of toriel in the ruins
matching red scarves
idea for a story
sometimes i wonder what would happen if he ended up being the sole surviving dreemurr and the king of the underground… hmm.
on a more lighthearted note, i would really like to see him form a sibling bond with undyne as well as frisk. it would absolutely melt my metaphorical heart. big sister undyne my beloved <3
unpopular opinion
flowey is NOT emotionless! where the heck did people get that idea???
Tumblr media
hello???? he is THE MOST emotional character in the game!!
him staying a flower isn’t a bad ending for him. and not being able to feel love doesn’t make him any worse or less of a person. he doesn’t need to be ‘fixed’. he needs support and guidance. the only thing i think could happen if he suddenly returned to his original form is cause him to panic because he’s not ready to let anyone else (especially his parents) know who he is. i don’t think either ending is worse exactly. they both have a lot of potential that often sadly falls by the wayside because of common perceptions of ‘flowey’ and ‘asriel’ that wouldn’t be so pervasive if people had a better understanding of his character. so anyways, yes. it is okay that flowey doesn’t feel love. —signed, a real life loveless person
i think the loss of his soul and him being reincarnated as a golden flower is a metaphor for how his grief/trauma/actions/etc. have changed him as a person rather than him. literally being a different person. others have said it better than me, but, like, the only time he kinda separates himself from his past identity is in the true route, and i think he does it mostly out of shame. he wanted ‘asriel’ to be remembered fondly and put to rest because he can never again be that same sweet, innocent, loving, little boy everyone knew him as. if his parents found out who he was and what he had done, surely they’d be devastated and disgusted with him. if chara was alive to see what a disappointment of a friend and brother he was, surely they would be too. why would they not? he can never redeem himself. he can never be worthy of mercy. (he just can’t understand). so he plays the villain, the sinner, the good-for-nothing, the miserable creature, the one who came back wrong, because he just can’t reconcile himself with the fact that he’s still that same person, just changed and evolved over timelines. frisk has seen who he is. the good, the bad, and the ugly. and yet they still see him as a person, worthy of mercy and a second chance at life, despite everything (it’s still you)
favorite relationship
i’d say the ‘relationship’ between him and the player (aka: me specifically because flowey is already supposed to mirror the protagonist, but he and i have so much in common it’s scary so that makes things really interesting) but i dunno if that counts, so i’ll say his friendship with papyrus.
favorite headcanon
one of my favorite flowey headcanons is that the first soul rebellion in the omega flowey battle was staged. it just adds a whole nother layer to fight.
also the headcanon that he needs glasses. the world needs more pictures of flowey wearing glasses.
now undyneeeeeeee
first impression
i always thought she was cool, though i wasn’t as invested in her character because i was more focused on other characters (papyrus and chara to be exact)
impression now
she is totally awesome and definitely one of the coolest characters in the game, but i’m starting to realize and appreciate more and more that she is not larger than life. she has her own flaws and insecurities that make her complex and real. it took me while for me to get a feel for her character, but this fic series certainly helped a lot. it’s one of my all time favorites and i highly recommend it (heed the warnings though. it gets pretty rough)
favorite moment
ah. this is. another really hard choice.
that moment of cognitive dissonance when frisk gives her water after she collapses from the heat
the scene where frisk visits her house and she slowly begins to realize that she might be wrong about them and lets her guard down and opens up to them
at the end of the undying battle when she’s on the verge of death but still smiling triumphantly
those are just the ones off the top of my head. there’s probably more that i’m forgetting. she’s got a lot of great moments
“Don’t ask me what a grooty is!”
idea for a story
i really want to know her origin story. where did she come from? who were her parents? what was her childhood like? i am putting my hands on her shoulders and i am shaking her like a rag doll. i want to know. everything.
unpopular opinion
she absolutely should have been the fan favorite instead of sans. i don’t know what happened but i am very confused as to how she isn’t way more popular than him. no hate to sans by the way. he’s a great character and he deserves to be popular. undyne is still outrageously underrated and i will never not be mad about her getting overshadowed and watered down by the fandom at large.
favorite relationship
man i dunno. i’m stuck between papyrus, alphys, and asgore (i also think her and toriel’s dynamic has so much underutilized potential).
favorite headcanon
my favorite headcanon about her is that she’s autistic. because she is. so autistic. and you cannot convince me otherwise.
yes thank you i am grateful for any excuse to talk about asgore
first impression
i didn’t really think about him all that much, but it always made me sad when i saw people hating on him or treating him like a joke. i knew he wasn’t the greatest person, but he wasn’t a bad person either. i always liked his design too. very nice and fluffy.
impression now
………this man has been plaguing my adhd-ridden mind for the past year and BY GOLLY has it been a miserable experience for all parties involved. if i’m being completely honest here, out of all of the characters from undertale and deltarune, asgore has had the most emotional impact on me. haha. you’d THINK it’d be chara, or flowey, or… hell, even berdly! BUT NOOOO, KING FLUFFYBOY HAD TO CAUSE ME MORE EMOTIONAL DAMAGE THAN ANY OTHER FICTIONAL CHARACTER BARRING GOD HIMSELF. and, yes, most of that emotional damage was because of that one scene from that one neutral route (which i’m still not sure if i’m ready to talk about directly), but also because of literally everything else. literally everything about this guy makes me want to burst into tears. and part of what makes his story so painful for me is that i relate so many of his struggles. i’ll spare you the details, but i just see SO MUCH of myself in him, and it means so much to me to know that he gets better. pain and suffering aside, i just think he’s a really fascinating character and i care about him a lot.
favorite moment
okay, at first i thought of the moment where he destroys the mercy button (which is still a phenomenal moment) but, then i took a good look at another scene.
in his regular battle, he bows his head, hiding his face in shadow, resolved to kill or be killed, but giving frisk every chance he can think of to ensure that they are not the one who is killed.
but in his lost soul battle, frisk looks him in the eyes and promises him that they won’t hurt him. no matter what. that moment shakes me to my very core.
idea for a story
i really want to explore what would happen if frisk were to absorb his soul and cross the barrier to find a way free monsterkind peacefully.
unpopular opinion
asgore is not a Hawaiian-pattern shirt guy. he is a floral-pattern shirt guy.
favorite relationship
him and chara!! (him and frisk is a very close second) i LIVE for the parallels.
favorite headcanon
i like to think that he became king at a really young age basically right after the war happened and his parents left huge shoes to fill. i mean, his tendency to laud his children as the hope for everyone’s future when they weren’t ready for the responsibility had to have come from somewhere, right?
(i don’t think he was a child king, but i can’t see him having been more than a young adult when he was coronated. old enough that it would have been legal, but young enough that he was still grossly underprepared and largely depended on others for guidance in executive decisions. writing laws and giving orders had never been his forte. his strengths lied more in giving speeches, helping with manual tasks, providing moral support/comfort/encouragement, connecting with his people personally. he was always very good at being part of a community, but he was never an excellent ruler)
okay i’m tired byeeeeee
i really want to explore what would happen if frisk was to absorb his soul and go to the surface in search for a way to unite humans and monsters and break the barrier. i have a whole bunch of ideas for this, but unfortunately i have so many other works in progress that starting on this now will just add to the ever-growing pile
Unpopular opinion
asgore is not a hawaiian pattern shirt guy. he is a floral pattern shirt guy. i said what i said. feel free to unfollow me for this /joking
Favorite relationship
him and chara (him and frisk is a very close second). i live for the parallels
Favorite headcanon
i like to think that he was became king at a young age pretty much right after monsters had been imprisoned underground and his parents left huge shoes to fill. i don’t think he was a child king, but i can’t see him being more than 18 or 19 when it happened. i mean, his habit of lauding his children as the hope for everyone’s future when they weren’t ready for the responsibility couldn’t have come from nowhere, could it?

FNAF FILM SPOLIERS!!
So the fnaf film got released yesterday in the UK, and I was lucky enough to go to the first public screening!! I loved it sm, and I've got some theories, so buckle up.
First off, little details I loved. Balloon Boy was hilarious. MatPat's cameo was unexpected and amazing. I loved Foxy singing his little song (Which I and the people sat behind me sang along to) Mike's alarm clock and the pills on his bedside table being a throwback to game 4? Amazing. "I always come back!" Ok icon. And ofc, living tombstone at the end. Best feeling was when everyone in the cinema started scream-singing "FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDYSSSS"
Ok, Garett, who tf is this guy? I'm pretty sure he was Afton's first victim, so after a while of thinking, I thinkkk he might be the puppet? Ik it sounds far-fetched, hear me out. So every other ghost kid has been tied to an animatronic so far, that was expected, except for Garett. Now it could be that because Garett was kidnapped and killed and not lured away like the other kids, he just wasn't put into an animatronic, but I think that would be a missed opportunity. I think it would be perfect for Film 2, especially considering how Abby asked to see the animatronics again. Also, the fact that the puppet didnt feature AT ALL this film? A bit disappointing tbh. Ik they're in Game 2, not Game 1, but so's BB. I thought for a while about MatPats theory of Garett being Golden Freddy, and it being a dual soul situation like the Games, but idk. i talked to my dad, and as he put it "That wouldnt translate well from game to screen, no producer would sign on to that" and we all know how much of a film expert my dad is (/sarc) but i reckon he's right.
Okay, Baby. She's a Chekhov's gun that hasn't been shot yet. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I rate that babys screentime won't be limited to a little attempt on Abby's life and eating a broom. I've been trying to think about what she could do next film, and honestly? All roads lead back to Vanessa. This might just be my lore-hungry brain wanting Afton's daughter to possess Baby, but idk. It could be that Baby gets Abby next film? But I feel like she would know better after being almost killed by it. I think that Afton won't forgive his daughter so easily, I'm thinking he'll want to level the playing field, let her see how it feels.
I rate that film 2 will probably be a cross of being set in Game 3 and Game 5. I'm mostly convinced of Game 3, with the whole Afton being locked in the back room thing. But if they do decide to go the Baby route, then we could be seeing Sister Location
Idk! These are just my theories, I could be totally wrong, there could end up not being a film 2 at all! I just found it fun to word vomit. We'll have to wait a month or so for the film theory to see if I'm right at all. Anyways, let me know what you think! Give me your theories! Cuz afterall, thats just a tehory, a GAY theory (95% of this fandom is mentally ill and queer, including me) thanks for reading :DD

yansim honorific headcanons
i’ve always found it super interesting on how the game setting is very obviously set in japan, but the topic of honorifics besides the obvious “senpai” and occasional “-chan” never really come up. honorifics are a very big part of japanese culture, and can also provide subtle and nuanced insights to a character’s mannerisms and relationships.
and of course, these are my own personal hcs!! these are like super, super rambly, haha, but feel free to share and discuss your own :> small disclaimer, i’m definitely not an expert when it comes to honorifics or japanese culture, and this post could of course, contain some inaccuracies.
without further ado, let’s get started!
this post will be focusing on the 202X main characters (ayano, taro, and info-chan), as well as the ten 202X rivals. “FN” stands for first name, and “LN” stands for last name
Ayano Aishi - Uses polite, non-personal honorifics. As a child, I think she would address everyone by their (first/last) name without honorifics, because that’s how they introduced themselves, but eventually began using LN-san or LN-senpai in attempts to blend in more.
She addresses Taro as Yamada-senpai, but refers to him as just Senpai in her head. I think she would also be easily flustered at the thought of addressing him by just first name, (like, can you imagine the cuteness of this when she confesses in the golden ending??) And if they ever get to that point, I think Taro would ask her to use his first name. I’d imagine she would stutter a lot with it (and then attempt to revert to Yamada-kun/chan) before she can get truly used to it. Idk if she’ll give him the -kun honorific or just refer to him by first name, but that’s mostly bc I haven’t thought that much about Ayano’s post-Taro personality LOL.
Besides Taro, if someone else requests to be addressed by first name or with another honorific, she will hesitate a moment before switching; she’s not used to it, but there’s not much of a reason to not follow up after all.
Taro (and Taeko!) Yamada - As the average person he is, he uses average honorifics, just like Ayano. When he first becomes friends with someone, he’ll switch to their first name and use -chan/kun/san depending on who they are and how acquainted he is with them, but eventually he’ll drop the honorific entirely after becoming very close with them, such as Osana.
When Ayano confesses in the golden route, I think it’d be really cute if he insists on calling her Aya-chan (which would fluster her so badly bc she’s been used to yan-chan her whole life!! AND, the fact that aya can also mean color, like the fact that he’s the one that brung “color” into her life, IT JUST FITS TOO WELL) and then one day he will call her just Ayano in a moment so special to the both of them, it will shock her to the core!!!! (bc at that point, dropping honorifics would feel like the ultimate way to intimacy off of just names and all that)
Other side note, I think he would also do the same with the other rivals minus Osana and Hanako and the teachers ofc, just because he’s polite like that.
Info-chan - Okay, listen, I’m actually not really sure, bc the -chan implies that she could be super genki, but she really isn’t? She’s super aloof and kinda cruel and honestly doesn’t really seem to be the type of person to use -chan with herself.
My own hc was that her first client as super flirty or something and used that bc she didn’t have a name for herself yet, and it kinda just stuck. But of course we have no canon text supporting that, but the thing is, she refers to Osana as “Osana-chan,” so maybe she really is just like that?? I still think she would refer to everyone by last name without honorifics normally, but maybe the select few people she chooses (probably victims LOL), she would address by fn-chan/kun, but I think we need more between her and osana first to figure out what the connection is. Personally, I think she’d only bring out the cutesy honorifics in moments of sadism, bc her current character just seems too aloof otherwise.
Osana Najimi - Debating between FN-san, or LN-chan/kun with her, as she seems pretty friendly and outgoing with that spunky personality of hers, I’m leaning towards the former, personally. When she’s friends with someone, she’ll switch to FN-chan/kun, but when she’s extremely close to someone (Raibaru and Hanako), she drops the honorific entirely. If addressing someone she dislikes, she refers to them by their last name alone.
In the case of Taro!! when she was younger, she also referred to him as “Taro-kun”, but as her crush developed more and more, she attempted to put some distance and began referring to him as “Senpai”. This happened sometime after he went into high school, and he simply accepted the change as just them growing a little distant, but he does miss being “Taro-kun” with her. I think she would drop all honorifics when she confesses though, just so she is “reaching through the barrier” and becoming as close and intimate as possible.
Amai Odayaka - I think she defaults to the typical LN-san formal speech, as she seems very polite. She probably switches to -chan and -kun when she gets closer to someone, but would always asks for permission first. Since she has the reputation of being a “big sister” with the school, I don’t really see her dropping the honorifics ever? Since it’s just too intimate otherwise. Maybe unless the other person is super super close/intimate, like maybe with Taro if they got together, or her suitor, and of course, most likely Shoku.
Kizana Sunobo - I’m not really familiar with the stereotypical himedere honorifics, but she seems like the type that would address someone by their full name. But tbh, I don’t think she’d even bother learning other peoples names when she thinks they’re beneath her (which would probably be like. everyone LOL). She probably defaults to last name though, but if she’s working with someone she respects, she’ll probably just address them by first name, no honorific.
Oka Ruto - Rather straightforward, uses the typical polite LN-san/senpai. The exception is with her clubmates, where she’ll use LN-chan/kun, since she’s closer to them, I would think. She wants to call Shin and Chojo “Senpai”, but i think they would both decline as she is higher in rank to the both of them as their club leader.
Asu Rito - She’s supposedly really friendly and outgoing, I can see her adding -chan/kun to everyone she talks to! Don’t really know whether it’d be first or last name basis though, since honestly we don’t have that much on Asu and I feel like if I speculated anymore, it would go wayyy too into headcanon territory. But I think it’d be really sweet to see her refer to Itachi by his first name, he seems so intimidating that I think everyone would just refer to him as Zametora only.
Muja & Mida - Putting them both together bc as teachers, they’d just use LN-san, both for their students and their coworkers. Maybe they can also substitute with -kun? Particularly Mida, but that feels more grandpapa-ish if you get what I mean. I think they would both definitely refer to taro as Yamada-kun though, to accentuate how special he is to them though LOL.
Osoro Shidesu - Definitely just last name with no honorific. Even with authority, she won’t use -sensei or anything like that, unless its someone she respects, then she’ll use -san (like maybe Genka? It’s too early to tell I think, but I imagine they have a complicated relationship). I think she would use first names ONLY on extremely special moments, (the delinquents all want to hear that someday, but that someday is yet to be reached). Taro doesn’t hear it until Friday, most definitely. Speaking of Taro, I really, really can’t imagine her calling him Senpai, (Yamada would work just fine imo, it would especially help with Taeko dialogue too), but only time will tell I suppose.
Hanako Yamada - Definitely has an excessive use of -chan/-kun with her bubbly personality, but I think she would use primarily last names since she’s a first year who’s transferring in. I think she probably would use -niichan/-neechan with senpai since she’s supposed to be super clingy, but I recall dev saying somewhere on reddit that she might use Senpai when they’re at school? I think it would be cute to hear her stumble over saying Oniichan, realize her mistake, and then say Senpai.
Megami Saikou - She definitely uses the extremely polite LN-san. I think she would addresses all her upperclassmen as Senpai, because Megami is extremely humble and wouldn’t do anything to flaunt arrogance by insisting she’s on the same level as them. She definitely wouldn’t use anything informal like -chan or-kun, after all she must be extremely perfect, and any sign of affection is a sign of weakness.
With her parents, she would definitely address them as Otou-sama and Okaa-sama, because they’re both important figures in high society. However, with people she’s secretly close with, I think she would address them by their first name only. These people being Aoi, and eventually Taro (and Kencho by default). To people she “resents,” I think she would privately drop the honorific and address them by last name. (these people being Kaga and Ayano LOL. maybe even Osoro too depending on how the lore turns out) She would never do this in public though, as it could tarnish the Saikou image.
and thats a wrap! hopefully i provided more insight onto the use of honorifics, and if i ever write a fanfic, this chart is gonna be the one i’m defaulting on. let me know if you want me to write more for other characters! if you have any differing opinions or add-ons, i’d love to hear it too :> discussion makes things more fun!!

I always kinda felt lukewarm to the idea of the idea of the "Three Houses Golden Ending," like fan fic is allowed to be whatever but it always felt kinda disingenuous as an idea cuz it kinda took away from making the choice you did and living with those consequences, but I could also understand the appeal of it, getting to see everyone together and alive, especially since the game does encourage you to try to get to know everyone.
But then you look at the Fandom-Specific Plot section of 3H's YMMV page and these "Golden Ending" ideas and it really falls apart since 90% of the time it's used as either a Get Out of Jail Free card for Edelgard so they can "focus on the real threat" or a way for her to "convince" Dimitri and Claude to just give up and let her conquest be "morally ok." Especially since their common "True Antagonist" targets are Rhea (who only Edelgard hates, Dimitri's okay with her and Claude comes around once he hears her side) or the Slitherers (who Edelgard actively supports and receives aid from).
Heck, the closest thing we get to a "golden ending" in 3H is Azure Moon, and Edelgard still chooses to fight to the death even after Dimitri offers peace as an option. Like, gee, it seems kinda like Edelgard will never accept peace unless she's the one and only ruler, really a team player kinda mentality there. /s
Yeah I've long accepted that for the 3H fandom "Golden Route/Ending" is just shorthand for "Edelgard right Rhea Bad" because that's almost always how they end up. Edelgard rarely has to grow as a character, realize she might have been wrong in her approach, reject her imperialistic dream once she sees how dangerous and deadly it is - it's always up to Dimitri and Claude to "open their eyes" and see that war was the only way to bring peace to Fodlan, because Rhea Bad and would never ever ever allow for change to happen under her ever watchful eye.
You know just ignore the fact that the Southern Church branch was completely gotten rid of by the Empire and has had no replacement for around 120 years, which is a pretty big fuckin' change that even directly pertains to the Church specifically. Ignore the entire formation of the Leicester Alliance in the first place, which is the only nation of Fodlan to have no monarchy at all - a monumental change that was allowed to happen, like, 300 years ago and with literally no known Church interference at all.
But no, in order for change to happen Rhea definitely totally needed to be killed, because her death is the only way for Fodlan to see a new future. War with the Church and its eventual total destruction is the only option available for sustainable, lasting change in Fodlan. Uh huh. Just ignore the other sustainable, lasting changes in Fodlan that literally didn't need the Church to be destroyed to happen due to Rhea literally letting the change happen.
Yeah no lol I ain't buyin' it. And Golden Endings just kind of assume that Dimitri and Claude would just be okay with the fact that Edelgard was directly involved with or otherwise benefited from the heinous actions of TWS - even before the events of the game like, you know, the Tragedy. That thing that Edelgard herself blames on TWS and yet nonetheless decides to look over in favor of gaining their power, up to covering up for them when the topic is brought up and going along with the falsehood that it was Duscur that did it. Yeah, really sure Dimitri is going to be very understanding about that once she tells him that she did that to cover for her allies so that she could better conquer his land.
And I'm sure Claude would also be very understanding of Edelgard's motivations of taking down the Church once she reveals that she's doing so because she thinks that Nabateans as a race should not be able to have power due to their natural inclination towards inhumanity. I'm sure once she opens up about how she wants to get rid of all of the vile creatures that masquerade as human she can find because their very presence disallows peace in Fodlan, Claude - who is just very okay with mindsets like this and totally isn't completely opposed to them - would nod along and agree with her.
The AU asks for a lot, but because of how much the fandom at large wants Edelgard to be a good guy and thinks of Rhea as evil incarnate, the hoops and loops are jumped and hopped through to allow for Edelgard to be the one in the right, with maybe the minor concession on her end but still nonetheless the one that the other two have to "learn" to believe in. Ignore that, like you said, the only reason there isn't an actual canonical golden ending in 3H where (almost) everyone lives is because Edelgard refused the offer of peace when given to her by Dimitri. Twice. The second time with the dagger that he'd just returned to her. It's annoying but that's what the blacklist option is for lmao

For the LITG ask game: 22, 24, 25, 38, 48
Oooh I've already done all of these ones except 38!!! But I will pick the next closest for each.
28. Are there any non-LITG apps you’d like to recommend?
Google docs is very useful. So is the calculator. But fr I don’t play any other games (yet)
31. Which MC art style was your favorite?
Oh it’s gotta be season 2 for sure. But I actually kind of loved season 3 once I got used to her? She’s kinda cute
34. Which character was the best friend for your MC and why?
Hope. If you weren’t going after Noah she was a really fucking golden friend to you. Priya and Chelsea close seconds. I would hang out with all three of them irl for suuuuure.
38. Do you have any opinions (on the story or characters) that have drastically changed since you started playing?
Yeah. My first playthrough with Rahim I was like "omg this Lottie girl, so fun, so lovely and an Australian! guess we're besties." Took me all of five seconds into Gary's route to change my mind on that one. I also really, really disliked Youcef to start with, but holy shit, he grows on you.
46. Are there any characters that remind you of someone you know IRL?
Yeah, Tai. Being Aussie, we get a lot of Kiwis and Maori guys over here, and I used to work with a guy who was exactly like Tai. Down to the tattoos and ponytail. Everyone bloody adored him, he was a riot to work with, and he made every day fun.
Thanks so much for the ask!!!!
Here’s the link ONLY A FEW MORE!

i LOVE seeing everyone's different takes on a "Golden Route" in the 3 Houses fandom because like. there are so many flavors. and now with 3 Hopes giving us additional lore, i genuinely love seeing ppl incorporate that lore into their writing
your pre-timeskip fix-it was a large part of what got me into your blog! how do you think you would handle some of the 3 Hopes stuff in it, if you're interested in doing that? i totally get wanting to stick to just 3 Houses tho!
I know right??? One of the best things about fandom in my view is that everyone is going to do things differently. Even if they're starting from the same base concept, the end results are going to be entirely different when two different fans develop it, because they each have their own takes on the characters, their own ideas for the world, and their own narrative beats to incorporate. It's beautiful and an absolute joy to see.
But I'm actually not sure yet how Three Hopes will impact Pre-Timeskip! From what I understand after playing the Demo, the Academy phase is more or less aborted early in Three Hopes, so the lore that gets incorporated would probably be all character-focused from Support conversations rather than pulling from narrative beats -- and unfortunately for me, I don't have the game yet, so my Support knowledge is pretty thin. I can't say one way or another yet whether Three Hopes will influence Pre-Timeskip -- but I'm certainly not ruling it out!

Entry 94: Lilith’s Only Appearance
Revelation is the third and final route, released as DLC a few weeks after Birthright and Conquest. The idea of Revelation is that it’s a middle ground, where Corrin refused to pick a side and instead works to unite the two kingdoms to destroy the ultimate evil that one of the kingdoms works for. In theory, this route acts as the big, climactic finish for the game, bringing all the plot threads together into a single, satisfying story. It does not succeed in this. Again, it’s been years since I last played this game, but I can confirm that route isn’t the perfect golden route we want. Still, I do remember liking some aspects. Maybe Revelation has aged like fine wine into a good game. It won’t, but it’s nice to hope.
Revelation Chapter 6: Into The Ground
I start up a new save file, deciding to finally let the game call its protagonist Corrin instead of Moron, partially because the joke has gone stale and partially because I genuinely hope this route’s version of Corrin will be a character I like.
So anyway, future dream that doesn’t make sense, duel with Xander, refuse to execute prisoners, Hans tries to kill us, meet the Hoshidans, Mikoto dies because Garon is the worst, Azura calms Corrin down, yada yada yada. We’ve done this before. Revelation proper begins at the route split in Chapter 6.
This time, when forced to choose between Nohr and Hoshido, Corrin refuses to take a side. As a character choice, this honestly makes sense. Corrin isn’t going to side with Nohr, because they aren’t a braindead asshole, but they also wouldn’t want to fight their family. Corrin begs everyone to lay down their weapons and find a peaceful solution. Xander and Ryoma say fuck this and decide instead to have a fight to the death over ownership of Corrin. Azura and Jakob/Felicia show up and Azura recommends Corrin kills a commander from both sides, because that’ll get the big brothers’ attention. That’s a dumb fucking idea. The idea is fighting neither side, not killing random men from both. Also, this goes back to this game’s constant player-centered morality; those soldiers probably had families too, Azura.
After Corrin quickly kills two random boss units, Xander and Ryoma stop fighting to ask Corrin what the fuck. Ryoma and Xander both decide Corrin has turned traitor and order their capture. Azura and Corrin retreat to avoid being punished.
Azura tells Corrin that they must chose a side, because apparently both kingdoms will forget about the whole murdering their soldiers thing. Corrin vows to protect both families. Azura praises this, mentioning that her mother lost her life protecting Nohr. Except, no, she didn’t; Arete died when she told Azura about Valla. I mean, I guess telling her toddler about the game’s big bad could save Nohr...except Azura never does anything with this information. Couldn’t she have told someone more important? And I know I’m ranting about plot elements we haven’t gotten to yet, but this line is stupid.
Azura vows to follow Corrin and the game’s intro plays again, now edited to show a massive stone monster deep underground in Valla. Lilith shows up again and gives Corrin the keys to her pocket dimension. This is the only time Lilith shows up in this route. She only shows up again in Birthright and Conquest to die, and she doesn’t die in this route, so why would she show up? I mean, sure, this is the route featuring dragons, and her homeland, and her father, but why would Lilith be important? Why should she be anything else than a forgettable character with two lines who sits around in your castle?
Lilith’s funky castle realm is the same as in past routes, except now it allows you to get both the Hoshidan and Nohrian versions of each building. Neat.
Also why was this chapter called Into The Ground? That happens next chapter.
Support: Camilla/Jakob
C: Camilla thanks Jakob for taking care of Corrin before telling him to fuck off cause Corrin's hers.
B: Camilla tells Jakob to stop working for Corrin again. Jakob says no, because Corrin is his liege.
A: Camilla apologizes.
S: Jakob says he's jealous of Corrin because they're close with Camilla. They get together, swearing to protect Corrin over the other if they have to.
Review: Jakob's great, Camilla sucks. Also very repetitive.
Support: Niles/Odin
C: Niles informs Odin that the army needs names for some new weapons. Odin is overjoyed.
B: Niles turns in names without Odin, because otherwise they would be late with their submission. Odin gets mad. Niles mocks his names and mentions his suspicions over Odin's mysterious past.
A: Odin apologizes, which is good because Niles did nothing wrong. Niles apologizes for looking into Odin's past.
Review: This is a weird situation that just exists for this Support. Also this one is kinda mediocre.
Support: Charlotte/Leo
C: Charlotte makes Leo lunch. Leo is annoyed at her bothering him.
B: Leo does some tactical planning and realizes that Charlotte is stronk. Charlotte admits that she pretends to be weak because men don't like strong women. Charlotte has never spent one moment on the internet.
A: Leo tells Charlotte to stop concealing her strength because he has no use for soldiers who can't fight. Also he points out that some men are fine with strong women. Like literally every single man in our army who isn't an old man, for example.
S: Leo proposes. Charlotte declines, because she cannot tell if she is marrying him for wealth or love. Leo takes that as proof of her love.
Review: Overall, pretty decent, but a bit unoriginal. A lot of Charlotte's Supports are painfully similar to each other.
Support: Arthur/Beruka
C: Arthur spots Beruka talking to a shady character and, as an enforcer of justice, asks her about it. Beruka asks what justice is and Arthur lists off good deeds.
B: Beruka informs Arthus she's been hired to assassinate a government official. Arthur informs her that he has been hired to protect him from an assassin. Why do they take side jobs there's a war going on. Beruka informs Arthur she always finishes her missions. Arthur bluntly replies the same.
A: Arthur is run over by a carriage. Beruka, think there's another assassin, retreats. Beruka is happy she didn't have to kill Arthur, because he believes in justice. Because he's an idiot.
S: Arthur explains that there is no assassin, just his bad luck trying to kill him. Beruka laughs and they get married.
Review: Arthur repeating Beruka’s implied threat is great, as is the idea of Beruka thinking there’s an assassin out to get him. Plus, Arthur feels more likely to warm Beruka’s heart than most characters. Overall, pretty good.

1. the whole story belongs to Gege Akutami and the credits go to them and them only.

“What’s with the smiley look on your face?” you asked as you lifted your eyebrow in curiosity since the man in front of you had a somewhat goofy grin plastered on him while adding a ridiculous amount of sugar cubes into his coffee cup causing you to shiver since you couldn’t imagine how sweet the caffeinated drink would be now if you tried it right now.
“Oh, nothing~ I’m just glad that I got to spend time with my daughter since we both have been so busy lately,” Gojo answered you brightly before grabbing the small metal spoon that was placed on the white saucer below his cup to stir the dark drink to quicken the process of the sugar dissolving.
Right now in the afternoon, you and Gojo were at a random luxury dessert place in the middle of Tokyo, where he had unexpectedly dragged you out of training that you had with the first and second years - much to their complete dismay - to have some ‘father and daughter’ bonding time together, leaving them to prepare today’s training by themselves since their plans were ruined with you now gone out of the scenario.
“Please don’t call me that,” you muttered as you processed to swirl your iced orange and mango juice with your straw before taking a quick sip of the cold beverage causing the tropical flavour to enlighten a light feeling of happiness within your stomach.
“So~ how is training for the exchange event going on?” Gojo asked as he took a sip of his cup causing you to look up at him before moving your lips away from the plastic straw. “It’s going well, Fushiguro and Kugisaki are improving bit by bit as well as the second years, it’s progress,” you replied back as your head began to nod slowly as you began to process everything in your head.
“Ah~ I knew I could count on you,” Gojo mentioned with a proud smile present on his face before looking over to the side to find the waiter coming to your table with the desserts that you both had ordered.
‘Well...isn’t it really your job as a teacher to train them?’
“Thank you so much,” you said to the waiter as they placed down your plates before giving you a nod as they processed to look after the other customers that were also in the cafe right now, leading Gojo to look at the treats in such delight before handing you one of the plates since he was the one that ordered everything - which was a complete surprise since you didn’t think he would remember you liking orange juice at all.
“Here you are! Tiramisu with fresh strawberries on top,” Gojo expressed with an excited tone causing you to look at him with a perplexed expression before slowly peering down at the small white plate that was placed in front of you to only find the mentioned dessert with a small fork right beside it.
“Did...you know I like tiramisu?” you asked bewilderedly since you had never mentioned anything about your favourite treats to Gojo since he was so keen on ordering as quickly as possible the second you both got here, to get the beautiful desserts as early as possible leaving you no room to add what you wanted.
“You were looking at it on the display when we got here, so I thought you wanted to give it a try,” Gojo informed you, leading you to look at him once again in surprise before steadily taking the fork in hand to dig into the treat you were gifted with.
“Thank you,” you mentioned with gratitude before you slowly began to tuck into the meal leaving Gojo to look at you with a smile before changing his gaze towards the sweet treats that were displayed at you both right now before gleefully taking the strawberry shortcake as his first choice.
“Y/N...when the exchange event comes...don’t use your curse technique at all,” Gojo said in a serious tone leading you to look up at your teacher in confusion due to the unexpected change in atmosphere, before sighing since you thought it was common knowledge by now and there was no need for him to remind you.
“You don’t need to tell me that, I can tell that the Kyoto Principal is coming to be watching, right?” you rhetorically asked as you slightly tilted your head to the side, “you don’t have to worry about anything, I ain’t that stupid, besides...the Kyoto students from what I’ve seen are real drags,”
                                              ꕥ
‘I swear I feel like using a curse spell right now’
At this current moment in time, you were in a somewhat difficult situation as you were rapidly zooming past the forest trees that were surrounding you while continuously avoided the arrows that were coming towards your way as some flew right past you while others struck the tree trucks that were somewhat protecting you from them, leaving you with the job to find an escape route since you were still trying to find clues of the mole that Gojo mentioned to you before the Exchange Event started as well as the second-grade curse that was needed to be exorcised to end the first day of the two-day event.
Shifting your eyes to the side, you noticed Fushiguro running in the same direction as you as he needed to keep up with you to make sure that you were safe and there was a way to help you avoid attacking your opponent right now since that was a new rule implemented to keep the game fair. However, with the abandonment of the use of your curse technique, Fushiguro needed to make sure he could defend you and have your back right now.
Quickly, you turned your head back to face forwards to ensure that you didn’t bump into anything or tripped up anywhere since you still had no idea where you were heading right now. From what you could recall, the area that was mapped out to the event’s arena was quite vast and it was getting somewhat difficult for you to sense everyone’s cursed energy since they were all now scattered in different directions with different distances leading your sense on them to become disorganised around you causing some difficulty to sense the curse you needed to locate for.
During this train of thought, Fushiguro couldn’t help but notice a few odd but small objects flowing through the air in front of both of you and him, causing the erratic-haired sorcerer to slightly tense up since he wasn’t sure what they were but also knew he couldn’t act too careless right now since it could be a trap that was set by the Kyoto side. However, as you both continued to sprint forward, those same small objects gilded right past between both of you and Fushiguro causing him to able to identify what they were.
‘Flower petals?’ Fushiguro thought before noticing how a few more pink petals would flow between you and him causing the shikigami user to look at you in confusion (since it was summer meaning there was no way they were just in bloom) as a few more of them gracefully fluttered past you which lead Fushiguro to slowly remember something, yet it was blurry in his mind right now. However, before his mind could even process anything to clear up the blurry image, you swiftly raised your arm to unexpectedly grab a few of the pink petals causing him to snap out of his daze before you left him more perplexed about what you were planning.
“Gojo, what are you going to do?” Fushiguro questioned, as he slyly noticed how your grip on the petals began to tighten before a small smile graced itself upon your face.
“Right now, let’s just say I ain’t planning to follow the rules if he keeps attacking me!” you answered back in a loud tone causing the grade-two sorcerer to glance at you with widened eyes as he wanted to halt you from what you were organising to do. Although, it seemed like it was too late since your hand opened slowly to release the pink flower petals back into the air before you took hold of his sleeve to pull him further so you both can take a long distance away from the same petals right now.
Suddenly, another arrow appeared from the trees as it was making its way towards you both leading you to smirk slightly as you let out of your classmate’s sleeve to take a hold of your katana that was still within its wooden sheathe as you needed to prepare for what was about to commence.
As the arrow drew closer and closer to you and Fushiguro, it couldn’t help but slightly grazed its sharp metal tip on one of the rosy coloured petals causing a sudden large explosion to commence right above you and Fushiguro while the other petals began to follow due to the first explosion’s residue hitting them as well leading to a row of large explosions to employ to which caused Fushiguro to look at the scene in complete shock before noticing how you were beginning to casually unsheathe your katana from its metal hold.
“You see, if I follow the rules, there is no way of telling them to stay the hell away from me,” you muttered, as you spun around to face the opposite direction before fully swinging your sword sideways leading to a crescent wave of cursed energy to speedily manifest as it flew across the whole woods while somewhat clearing the fiery explosion that was already enough to keep Kamo in place for some time leading Fushiguro to inspect the destructive site in complete surprise since he had no idea that you were able to carry out such an attack. However, it seemed like there was no more time to admire your work as you gripped onto his school jacket’s sleeve, once again, as you had already turned back around to continue running to god knows where.
‘Maybe I went a little overboard…’
                                              ꕥ
“What was that?” Nishimiya asked in slight fear, as she peered in the direction on where the unexpected explosions had occurred while noticing how some of the trees were suddenly on fire while others just seemed to be missing leading Kugisaki, Panda and Mechamaru (who were down below on the ground) to look towards the direction where they hear the destruction.
“Woah,” Kugisaki muttered in awe since she had a slight feeling that it was you, who caused the mass destruction just seconds ago.
“Well, it seems like we don’t have to worry about Gojo,” Panda mentioned to his lower classmate before he swiftly got back up on his feet to attack Mechamaru by launching a punch into the robot’s face causing Kugisaki to turn to him in shock since she thought he was still unconscious.
‘Yeah, I dont have to ever worry about her’ Kugisaki thought confidently before turning towards her opponent with an annoyed look on her face.
                                            ꕥ
“She can do that with flower petals?!” Utahime screamed in shock as she peered at the screen that was now just a pure full screen of static leading her to nearly drop her cup of tea, while Gojo looked at the same screen in slight surprise before he began to giggle while processing to remove his hands that were resting behind his head in amusement of what he had just witnessed from you.
“Awhhh so pretty~” Gojo commented as he clapped his hands like he was applauding you, leading Utahime to turn her gaze towards him in an irritated manner.
‘You love to keep surprising me, don’t you Y/N?’
“And that’s one bird down! Mei-san, is it possible to get another?” Gojo questioned as he peered back to his colleague causing her to giggle slightly as she opened her eyes again.
“Just who did you take in Gojo? You have a good eye if you decided to take her as your daughter, how much did you pay for her?” Mei replied, only for Gojo to look at her with a cheeky smile.
“Nothing, absolutely zero yen! I got her by pure chance, don’t tell me you’re planning to take her away from me, Mei-san?” Gojo jokingly commented back, before turning his sights on the Kyoto Principal, who seemed to be somewhat shocked at the current events that were transpiring on, but managed to maintain his composure leading to the strongest sorcerer to turn back to the other multitude of screens that were in front of him right now, like he was at the cinema watching an action movie.
‘The Kyoto student from what I’ve seen are real drags’
“That’s a bit harsh and violent from those said ‘drags’, don’t you think Y/N?” Gojo muttered under his breath as he waited for another crow to replace the one you had destroyed earlier.
‘At this rate, she won’t be able to track down the mole if Kamo is going to keep attacking her...oh well~ she’s a smart person, she’ll figure it out without even facing them’

Some Three Hopes thoughts+theories cause obviously I can’t just say nothing. Starting with thoughts and then moving on to theories:
-Okay so purple-haired Shez is the protag yeah cool I like where this is going
-Theee routes, which means lots of gameplay but my hopes for a golden ‘everyone lives’ route have been mostly dashed. Still a possibility but I think it’s unlikely.
-Holst? Is that you?
-UM CLAUDE RELATIVE? Dad? Brother? I HAVE QUESTIONS
-Dimitri is still a King and I love his new look (along with everyone’s new looks)
-Seems there can be two players here’s to hoping you can plan online
-Hmmm Monica is here…but is she the real Monica?
-So the big thing: Byleth’s the bad guy! I have a feeling we are purposely being misled hear. Obviously something went wrong somewhere, and when the house leaders were supposed to meet Byleth they met Shez instead so there’s that. But! Also I’m thinking Shez met Byleth previously and Byleth tried to kill them. (Likely while Byleth was on a mercenary job. It’s a known fact the ‘Ashen Demon’ was well know as someone who killed will no hesitation and seemingly no remorse) If that were the case, then it makes sense that Shez would be like ‘oh yeah, that guy? They’re terrifying and bad and they tried to kill me once’ and therefore paint Byleth as a bad guy to their allies.
-I would be shocked if Byleth stayed a villain for the entire game. We are missing pieces here.
-The white guy Arval, I’m sorry but if you wanted me to think that person is a good guy, you did the character design wrong. The vibes scream ‘Agarthan’ to me, and I’m reminded of both Lysithia and Edelgard’s designs as well when looking at Arval’s.
-regarding above character: I have a feeling they are similar to Sothis and have some kind of god like powers, but they’re existence is now tied to Shez. I would bet they are also Sothis’s enemy. I’m wondering if perhaps they are the Agarthan’s god? (And maybe that’s what twsitd were trying to achieve with their experiments-reviving Arval?) I’m wondering if this will play a factor.
-Also if Arval and Sothis are enemies, and Arval is aware of the fact that Byleth is Sothis’s host, then perhaps it makes even more sense for Shes to believe Byleth is the enemy…
-Fun fact Shez also had a heroes relic, do with that what you will. I’m taking it as proof of the Arval and Sothis connection.
-Sothis is connected to the flow of time, right? So I wonder if she would be able to sense this massive disturbance of how things have changed. Byleth working to try and right things? Or perhaps there’s actually a common enemy here but nobody knows that because someone else is pulling the strings and pitting By and Shez against each other in order to achieve some other, yet unknown goal.
-whatever happens, I’m interested to see how Byleth’s character changes with the change in life trajectory. Most of their growth happens during the academy phase, so without that, what happens to them? I’m not sure. Still going to be my favorite regardless. I love them to much lol.
There’s a lot going on here, but the main take away for me is that I think this trailer has been purposely spun to be wildly misleading, probably because there are some major developments in the lore and plot spoilers that they are not willing to give away just yet. I think this is purposely meant to leave us wondering.
The other main takeaway is that I definitely need to play this game, and it’s got incredible potential to answer many questions that 3H has left us with. I am so hyped and cannot wait.

rowaelin month - september 1st
Tumblr media
prompt: i just realized i’m desperately in love with you
hey guys!! it’s finally rowaelin month and i’m literally so excited you have no idea. sadly, i don’t have time to do every day but i’ll do as many as i can. i can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with. happy writing/reading! (this is just some straight fluff)
masterlist, AO3
~~~
The school was abuzz, anticipation hung thick in the hallways during each passing period. It had been that way for a week or so now with prom on the horizon. Everyone was constantly on high alert for the next promposal, most desperately hoping it would be their own. Girls hung around their lockers inconspicuously for far longer than necessary and boys tried to play it cool while secretly fretting over who to ask and how to do it.
Rowan was over it pretty quickly, but he’d likely have to suffer through the next month of promposal after promposal. Today was no different, there was an asking in the parking lot before school, one in his first-period English class, another in the hallway after. He couldn’t escape it.
Thankfully, Rowan wasn’t quite as grumpy as he used to be due to a certain blonde worming into his life a few years ago but he was still Rowan. Sullen and reserved as ever. That fateful blonde being the only one to draw him from his shell.
Rowan sighed, aimlessly scrolling around on his phone. It was the passing period before his 3rd-period class, AP Biology, and Rowan was leaning against Aelin’s locker.
Aelin always stopped by her locker after her photography class to put her camera away and then they’d head to class together. It was their routine, the same every day. Not yet broken during their entire senior year which was quickly coming to a close. That was a subject Rowan didn’t want to broach though.
He cleared his head of those unsavory thoughts. Rowan could tell yet another proposal was gearing up, Ilias came around the corner holding a poster board in one hand and a bouquet of assorted flowers in the other. At that moment too, Aelin turned the corner, giving Rowan a small smile as she hurried towards him.
Rowan’s cold resting face tugged into a smirk as she approached her already open locker. Rowan always took it upon himself to open it for her in advance, Aelin tended to fumble with the locks that required a specific number combination and artful twisting.
As Aelin stored away her camera and shut her locker door with a thud, a gasp down the hallway had them both turning around.
Ansel was there, her hand cupping her mouth, clearly unsuspecting of Ilias and his proposal. They both watched as Ansel excitedly agreed to prom with Ilias and took the flowers from his outstretched hand, pulling him into a hug.
Aelin turned her attention away from the happy couple and began to walk towards their next class, Rowan following suit. They progressed for a bit in silence until Aelin spoke up.
“I hope Chaol asks me to prom soon,” she confessed.
Rowan almost choked, that single sentence baffling him. “Chaol?” He asked incredulously.
“Or Dorian,” Aelin shrugged, crossing her arms in front of her. Rowan was suddenly feeling very panicked, like a fish that had accidentally discovered land, flopping around in search of water in a frenzy. To say he felt confused was an understatement. Rowan hadn’t given prom much of his brainpower. He hadn’t even considered asking anyone. He’d just assumed he’d go with Aelin. Why would he have thought otherwise? They did everything together; he’d expected prom would be no different.
When they sat down at their blacktop table in biology Rowan silently floundered as he tried to think over this revelation. Why would Aelin want to go with someone else? Usually, before class started, he and Aelin would joke around until the teacher told them it was time to reel it in but today Rowan stared ahead, picking at the skin of his thumb. A nervous tick he’d developed throughout high school.
Should he ask someone else then? He couldn’t even think of anyone else he tolerated enough to spend the night with. Maybe Lyria? She was nice enough, always sharing her notes with him in English when he was too busy with lacrosse to do the reading. She was quiet, soft-spoken. Absolutely nothing like the girl sat next to him. That thought made him frown. Remelle? No, he could barely stand Remelle, but he knew she liked him so at least she’d definitely say yes.
Rowan was pretty much out of luck. Aelin and his friend group were to whom his time was devoted to, he didn’t branch out much beyond them.
He thought of Aelin all dressed up, maybe in a golden gown that catered to her love of theatrics. Possibly in a deep green that complemented her bright eyes and skin tone. He imagined her with her hair loosely curled and flowing down her back. The delicate, golden Kingsflame silhouette necklace he’d gotten her for her 18th birthday clasped around her neck. It was easy for Rowan to conjure up that image but he couldn’t picture her looking like that and holding onto Chaol’s arm. It felt so intensely wrong to even consider it.
It was always him. He always imagined her with him. They were a package deal in Rowan’s mind, but apparently not in Aelin’s.
Aelin seemed to be catching onto Rowan’s internal dilemma. Throughout the duration of the class, he could feel her watching him out of the corner of her peripheral, trying to gauge what could be wrong. She stayed quiet though and dutifully continued her notes that mostly consisted of a collection of small doodles. Rowan couldn’t help but watch and wonder how she truly felt about him.
For the rest of the school day, Rowan pretty much blew Aelin off. He sat between Lorcan and Fenrys at lunch instead of the 2 seats on the right side of the circular table that always housed Aelin and himself. He told her not to wait up in the stands during his lacrosse practice and to head home on her own instead. He could tell she was confused maybe even a little hurt but Rowan couldn’t bring himself to push aside his mass of feelings that had him acting strange.
He wasn’t even completely sure what was wrong with himself. The thought of Aelin accompanying another guy to prom shouldn’t affect him like it was; they were only best friends nothing more. She had free reign to go with whoever she wanted and she could get whoever, Aelin was a beautiful girl he wasn’t blind to that. He’d just thought it’d be him.
All throughout lacrosse practice, Rowan was distracted, missing the ball or the goal when he had it, a stark difference from his usual skill. His coach had already pulled him aside once and asked if he was feeling okay only to be given a grunted yeah before putting him back in. He only grew more upset with Aelin as he pondered the day’s events instead of keeping his head in the game. Some part of him knew it was irrational but he couldn’t help it. Why wouldn’t she want to share one of their last big moments of high school together?
And that’s how he continued to feel as he made the short drive home with his hefty lacrosse bag weighing down his shoulder and his school bag heavy on his back. When he finally entered the home he sighed, the scent of his mother’s cooking filling his nostrils. Honestly, he’d rather stay up in his room and stew than sit through family dinner right now but he knew it’d only prompt more questions from his parents. So he dropped his things by the door much to his mother’s chagrin and collapsed into one of the dining table’s chairs.
“Feeling alright, son?” His father’s silver brow rose, already catching on to his foul mood.
“Yeah, just tired,” Rowan confirmed, taking a sip of water.
His mother entered then, a dish of pasta cupped between her oven mitts that she placed in the center of the table. “How was practice?” She asked sweetly, stripping her hands of their cover and sitting down.
“It was fine.”
Rowan’s mother and father exchanged a look between themselves. He was normally much more talkative, always giving them updates on school, on plays they’d done during practice, on Aelin. Rowan chose to ignore their concerned expressions and instead served himself a helping of dinner silently.
His phone buzzed then from inside the pocket of his shorts. Rowan pulled it out to check the message and frowned at the screen.
fire-breathing b queen👑 : r u okay?
He stuck his phone back into his pocket instead of typing a reply and forced himself to eat the rest of his dinner. He only half-listened to his parents’ conversation about their days and what was going on in his dad’s office. Rowan knew he was stewing again, falling into a spiral of uncertainty.
“Rowan, honey, are you sure you’re okay?” His mother pressed, worry lining her brow.
Rowan’s lips formed a thin line. No, he wasn’t okay.
In a split-second decision, Rowan decided he was done dancing around whatever was going on between him and Aelin. “I need to go,” Rowan said suddenly, standing up from his chair that loudly scraped across the floor. His parents looked surprised by his outburst but didn’t stop him as he grabbed his keys from the little table by the front entrance and left.
Rowan didn’t even need to look at the road to know the way to Aelin’s house. The route was in his bones now and within a few minutes he was pulling up in front of her large white house. He hopped out of his truck, not even bothering to lock the doors before he pounded on her green-painted front door.
The door opened with a squeak and he saw Aelin standing there in one of her nightgowns that drove Rowan absolutely mad.
“You’re not going to prom with Chaol,” he rasped, pushing the hair falling on his forehead back with his hand.
“Huh?” Aelin was clearly confused as to why Rowan had come knocking at her door without preamble.
“You’re not going with him,” Rowan once again declared, standing his ground, ready to get everything off his chest before he lost the courage.
“Ro, I don’t get what you’re going on about. He hasn’t even asked me and if he doesn’t ask me I don’t know who’d I go with,” she admitted, her hand still holding the door open and her mouth in a serious line.
Rowan surges forward at that, gripping both of Aelin’s hands in his own. “You’d go with me, Aelin. I want you to go with me,” he pleaded with her, lifting her hands up to his chest. “Aelin,” he continued, “I don’t want to go with anyone else but you. I want to do everything with you, go everywhere with you. Gods, Aelin, you’re like my reason to breathe, to get up in the morning.”
“Row-” Aelin tried to interrupt, her blue eyes going wide.
“No, just let me finish, I- I know that sounds crazy and I know it’s so out of the blue and you didn’t expect me to show up outside your door like this and start professing my feelings,” Rowan was rambling now he knew. Everything he wanted to say to her was running through his mind like a freight train so much so he struggled to express it. The words were jumbled in his mind as if they were a bowl of alphabet soup in a blender. He just needed her to know how he felt.
“I- I just, I thought about you going to prom with Chaol or some other guy all damn day and I hated it. Gods, I couldn’t figure out why I hated it so much, it just it- it felt so wrong. Fireheart, I want you to be with me. Gods, I think I’m so desperately in love with you I’m going to combust or something.” Rowan was getting flustered now, he knew his face was burning and he was sweating, maybe from the humidity or maybe from the sheer weight of what he was confessing to his best friend.  “Rowan,” Aelin started once again, her face contorted in pure shock.
“I know you might not feel the same Aelin, I knew I came here risking that, and if you don’t feel the same-”
“Rowan!” Aelin said with more force, bringing her hands to cup his face. “Listen to me,” she pleaded.
Rowan stopped trying to fight her and looked at her. He felt as though his stomach might fall out. His nerves were so intense as he stared into Aelin’s golden-ringed eyes.
“You’re just so fucking stupid,” Aelin breathed.
Rowan’s brow furrowed, he certainly hadn’t expected her to say that. “Wha-” he began.
He couldn’t even finish his thought before Aelin’s lips descended upon his own. She cradled his face in her hands as her soft lips moved against his in a slow rhythm. Rowan’s brain stalled and struggled to catch up with what the hell was happening.
He just knew this felt right, this felt so gods-damn right.
His hands were loosely wrapped around her wrists and they traveled lightly over her arms and moved to rest on her back and pull her into him.
Her body molded against his own. It felt like the final bit of a 50,000 piece puzzle had finally fallen into place after years of pouring over it. Rowan kissed Aelin back with just as much fever, desperate to keep her lips on his own. He brushed his tongue along the seam of her lips and she pulled back.
They both stood there, gulping down air as they stared at each other trying to navigate this unimaginable revelation.
“You’re- you’re not going to prom with Chaol, right?” Rowan finally managed to ask.
“No,” Aelin breathed. “I’ll go with you, I’ll always go with you.”
Their lips met once again.
Note
Hi! I'm here to talk about "Shepherds of Haven". But first up, a few warnings: I'm not known for being brief, so I apologize in advance if this is too long + English is not my first language, so sorry about that too. Now, into the review
I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love "Shepherds of Haven". Like, to an embarrassing level
(me? Having systematically gone through the general ro tag, the angst tag, the blade tag and the red tag more than once and more than twice? More likely than you think. Like, I'm pretty sure I know some of the angst asks by heart at this point)
THE WORLD
It's incredibly well-built and designed. There are many places we have no direct knowledge of, but they're still part of a vibrant world and sometimes you feel like you wish you could actually travel to the most exotic parts of Blest, or move to Haven.
The society you've built is incredibly intricate and believable. The dynamics between different social classes, how prejudice and discrimination against Diminished works, the food, the clothing, everything. It's just all so very believable and organic
THE PEOPLE
I am in love with them. That's it, that's the review
Except I'm also not
Because none of your characters feel like idealized archetypes that are made to please everyone and be romanced by anyone (not that there's anything wrong with those types of ROs, I've read many stories like that and loved them). But yours honestly feel like real human beings in a way I don't think I've seen anywhere else
Like, they all have virtues, and flaws, and fully developed personalities. I love all of them, but they also annoy me sometimes in a way that feels so human. When I play Shepherds, it feels less like playing a game and more like traveling to Haven and living a life there. Trouble is not my game bestie, he's my golden retriever best friend whom I deeply adore but always end up chasing after in order to keep him out of trouble (pun not intended). He's not a character, he's a person and I just really love that
THE ROMANCES
And yet, with all their flaws, your characters are still incredibly romance-able. But not necessarily by me, if you can understand. Right now, my main playthrough is a full-on Blademance, but I've created a not self-insert OC because as much as I adore Blade, we would never work together romantically. And I kinda love that, in a way, because it just makes him more human
I've also planned for a Chase route with another OC, as well as a Red route with a self insert because let's be honest, Red and I would work wonderfully together
And an Ayla route and a Trouble route are most definitely still on the table for future replays
Because I am Invested in these characters
THE STORY
Again, incredibly compelling and interesting. I want to know what's going on with the Faceless lords, I want to know what's up with the Sun Court, I want to know EVERYTHING. Because you've managed to build a story that works well both as an episodic adventure and as a plotty high fantasy adventure
When it fully releases and I can play it in full, I'll be the happiest person on these side of the world, 100%
And I'm running out of time, but don't be surprised if I come back to complete this because I still have things to say lol
Anyways, love your story and have a nice day! ~ 🍪
Ahh, anon, you have no idea how meaningful and impactful this feedback has been to me!
Tumblr media
I'm not sure what to say except: thank you! ;_; It's been a wild and crazy week, and this was just what I needed to lift my spirits! It means the complete world to me that the characters of ShoH feel like real people to you (they do to me, too, and I'm so happy that it translates!) and that you're enjoying the world, cultures, and story!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to send in such a thoughtful, kind review, it truly means so much! And your English is fantastic and I truly appreciate the length of your comment, so don't worry! Thank you so much again, and have a great week!!! 🤗❤️😭
let’s talk about 9-1-1 buddie headcanons:
- eddie gets rid of his truck. christopher is getting older and wants more independence so he gets something with better clearance. and I’ve decided that something is a dodge durango. eddie is actually really into it. can’t stop talking about the fold down seats and towing capabilities. buck teases him and calls it his soccer mom van. then immediately starts researching CP-friendly soccer leagues for chris.
- buck strikes me as a podcast kinda guy. I feel like a lot of his random facts probably start with information learned via podcast and then researched separately on google or wikipedia.
- luddite eddie my beloved. but not like luddite luddite. eddie’s a millennial so I see him as okay with all the 20th century technology he grew up with and just not all the newfangled smart home/internet gaming stuff.
- abuela gives eddie an old turntable and a box of records and he falls in love with it. likes to play spanish love songs while cleaning on the weekends.
- eddie breaks up with ana. he does it quietly and cordially a couple weeks after the sniper incident.
- buck and taylor date for a little while but never really take off. and it’s super important that it’s buck who makes the decision to break up. they both have very busy lives and different priorities. and taylor acknowledges she probably shouldn’t have kissed him in the first place. she just hated to see buck so broken and wanted to comfort him. they decide they are better as friends.
- bosko and eddie friendship rights! eddie actually apologizes to her and they become gym buddies. lena stops going to the junkyard fights and finds an MMA gym that she’ll take eddie to. during the pandemic they somehow find themselves doing socially distanced tai-chi in the park. they keep it up once the gyms reopen.
- side note: lena does in fact get a cat. he’s a huge floofy maine coon named sarge who absolutely adores eddie. rubs his head all over him and immediately worms his way into his lap when eddie visits. he hisses at buck tho and lena finds it endlessly hilarious.
- demisexual eddie! I like the idea of lena no-nonsense asking eddie if he’s ace one day and eddie just having an internal panic attack but not being able to figure out why. karen gently brings it up few months later and he’s just deny deny deny. then he overhears david telling michael that he gives off ace vibes and that’s the last straw. so eddie pulls a full buck and starts researching just to prove everyone wrong. except it’s like a lightbulb clicks on and yeah. maybe there’s something to this.
- eddie and karen have a book club every other week. usually novellas or a short story collection. queer theory and literary fiction. the occasional poetry book. at some point they invite david to join them. they also have a not-so-secret romance novel exchange because they are big saps.
- eddie is also a sucker for a really good cup of black coffee. has a favorite hole-in-the-wall cafe where he buys beans in bulk. buck calls it his diesel fuel drink and grimaces at the taste. he prefers simple oatmilk latte from the place near the station. and yet buck always seems to know what days eddie will be running late and rushing to work and has a cup from said hole-in-the-wall coffee waiting. despite it not being on buck’s route.
- christopher loves buck’s loft. buck keeps a stash of toys and coloring books in his coffee table trunk for when he visits. chris sees the stairs as a fun challenge and will often ask to go up and sit on buck’s bed to watch the city. or sit on the patio while buck bbq’s dinner for the three of them. he thinks it’s the coolest house ever.
- buck actually rides his bike. it’s not just for show. especially after the pandemic hit. he likes to go out in the mornings. drives to a nearby trail on his days off and enjoys the scenery while the sun comes up. sometimes eddie and chris meet him there after his ride and they have a breakfast picnic.
- the diaz-buckley-han’s share one netflix account. it’s technically buck’s in that he pays for it, but when maddie moved to LA he set her up with her own profile. then logged into his account at eddie’s one day and never logged out. renamed the profile buck & eddie after he setup a kid’s profile specifically for chris. then after learning about maddie and chim’s not-dating buff-fridays, buck put both their names on her profile as a prank. and then it just stayed that way. jee-yun even has a profile despite being a literal infant that doesn’t watch tv. maddie cried when she saw it.
- buck takes the legal guardianship thing very seriously. he’s already really involved in essentially co-parenting chris but he starts getting really nervous about asking invasive questions about chris’ medical history. so eddie sits him down with chris and the three of them talk about it. eddie very specifically asks chris if he’s okay with sharing that kind of info with buck. because even tho christopher’s a kid eddie always wants him to have a say in his own health decisions. then he has a more in-depth convo with just buck about insurance and bills and doctor’s visits. makes sure buck has access to all of it.
- chris played secret matchmaker. went to his old friend santa claus and asked if buck would stay forever. santa came thru, as always.
- also carla knows. buck starts spending more nights at the diaz house and one morning she lets herself in and sees buck coming out of eddie’s room in just a pair of sweatpants. she gives him a coy eyebrow raise and buck blushes. then she just laughs, pats his cheek affectionately, and says your secret’s safe with me buckaroo. when a bleary-eyed eddie wanders out a half hour later she pushes a cup of coffee into his hands, waits a few moments, looks eddie dead in the eyes, and points at buck. I see you took my advice. eddie chokes on his coffee.
- speaking of carla she is family. she and her husband are regular guests at the 118 get-togethers, holidays at the firehouse, and family meals. she occasionally takes on other clients, but she’s mostly exclusive to the diazes these days. esp as christopher gets older and wants more independence. she’s been around since he was 7 and he’s comfortable with her. she stays his home heath care aide until she retires. then she personally vets a new one. because not just anyone will do for her boy. they throw her a huge retirement party.
- gonna jump into the future because christopher absolutely names his daughter carla shannon buckley-diaz. there isn’t a dry eye in the house.
- and I don’t actually see chris calling buck pops or anything. he’s just his buck. tho I can see eddie asking christopher if he wants to hyphenate his last name when buck officially adopts him. buck’s his hero so chris is 100% onboard.
- buck and eddie don’t have more kids. eddie never wanted more and buck is surrounded by the ever-expanding horde of firefam kids. they love their little trio.
- also eddie is hilariously terrible with other kids. he just. doesn’t know how to talk to them. he’s literally the best father ever with christopher, but any other kid and he’s all awkward hello small human. it’s also the reason the team sends buck to handle kid rescues. he knows how to speak to kids and they light up around his sunshine energy. but then there are certain kids who just glom onto eddie. usually the quiet ones. they find something about his calm dad presence very soothing so they just cling to him until buck can coax them around.
- I do not see the buckley-diazes getting a pet. buck and eddie work long shifts and it’s not fair to put that kind of extra responsibility on carla when her job is to care for chris. however, as chris gets older he does get a mobility service dog to help with counterbalance. she’s a golden retriever named stella and she’s a very good girl.
- buck proposes by accident. they’re at the park with christopher and marriage just sorta comes up during one of his infodumps. eddie is eating his sandwich, nodding along, and just casually says of course I want to marry you. buck stops talking. christopher giggles. eddie panics. but when he looks at buck he’s all puppy-eyed and hopeful. you do? eddie nods. chris chimes in with a stage whispered ask properly buck and say yes dad. so they do.
Dear person I like, send them flowers too 🌸
I do hope this letter will never end up in your hands - not because I do not like you! It is because I still am very embarrassed to hand you such a thing filled with my deepest feelings and the possibility of it being not mutual pains me but I would accept it as fact as one should, I still wish to be a friend and companion that you can lean on.
You must wonder why I have come to like you, even enamoured with you if you wish to go so far.
It is fairly simple - you've seem to touch my heart so with nothing more than a few kind gestures and words, each day when we are putting our cycled lives on the line yet you still come to get me whenever I am chaired sparks admiration in my heart. It feels very silly that such a thing makes it pitter so but I cannot help the flush of my cheeks that doesn't seem to go away even if we escape or do not. It pains me when I try to rescue you only to come too late or you sacrifice yourself, I do my best to make sure it does not come to that but sometimes attempts are futile but I won't stop the attempts.
Out of such matches, things can always get hectic with moments of liveliness that comes from delivering letters and everyone getting ready for their matches or nights of festivities and joy and our time is always short one way or another but I enjoy every moment that we can enjoy each other's quiet company of being in the same room or by each other. I would never ask much of your time, a few moments - even seconds - is enough to satisfy me.
I do worry one day I may get selfish with wanting more than fleeting moments but I hope that it does not come to such. I want to be satisfied with what we have. I do not want to mess up a wonderful thing which is why I will do my best to keep my heart to my chest and smile for you.
I hope that any letter given in matches will be enough to help aid you in escape.
I hope that each rescue I can enact will give you more rush and hope than you can handle to continue winning these games.
I hope that what route you take, it brings you the most joy and satisfaction that leaves you with no more longing and that everything you need to know and remember is tucked away safely in a locked case.
I hope that I, along with others, stay in that locked little case for you to cherish forever. Please remember to think of me even for a moment when you get a letter or see something that reminds you of me, platonically or romantically I will not be displeased with either.
I wish I had the courage to give this to you but I can't, I do hope you can forgive me should you ever get this letter yet I am not here anymore. The amount of affection I have feels tremendous and overbearing which is more than I want to burden you with. Know if you get this letter and that moment has passed you have been a shining door in my darkest moments that I've stumbled about.
Do not lose yourself, keep the good memories of you and others to brighten yourself more and forever shall I keep such golden memories of us together tightly to my heart even long after I am gone. A piece of me shall be forever yours.
Hopelessly for you,
Victor Grantz-Campbell
The Conspiratorial Bullet: Chapter 4
Having concealed all traces of his presence, Albert was advancing through the enemy’s territory with efficient steps.
He moved through the battlefield without making so much as a sound, and had already felled three opponents; even so, he had yet to encounter any real action. Louis and the others were on the opposing team, so it was probable that their movements had been meticulously planned with strategic intent: perhaps, rather than making a clumsy full-on assault, they were quietly moving the situation along. In that case, between their opponents’ flag and total annihilation, which target should he aim for……?
From the time that had elapsed, Albert approximated the remaining strengths of both his opponents and allies. But just as he was working out a plan, he abruptly sensed a presence following him from behind.
He hid himself in a thicket, and turned around. Standing there was…….
“……Master Jack?” he smiled.
Before him was Jack Renfield.
Jack chortled. “Albert. I was observing you from behind for a bit: you didn’t leave any openings, and your movements were sharp. You’ve certainly made your teacher proud.”
As he said that, Jack toyed with the rubber knife in his hand.
“Nonetheless, I didn’t notice your presence until the last second; I still have a ways to go.”
“No, no — if I had approached you with the intent to attack, I’m sure you would’ve detected me. No need to be humble.”
He laughed heartily as he placed a hand on Albert’s shoulder.
“But I’ve gotten the feeling that there weren’t many enemies along the way, somehow. I wonder what they’re planning?”
“I’ve felt the same. They can’t have decided to throw the game either.”
“You’ve got that right. Of all people, your beloved Louis wouldn’t do that. Not to mention that team has Moran and Bond too: they aren’t the type to stand by and allow defeat——”
That instant, Jack dived to the side, breaking off the conversation. Around the same moment, Albert ducked, and a dry thud could be heard from the ground.
A look in that direction revealed a single mock bullet lying on the dirt. Albert verified that there were no others in the vicinity, and murmured.
“……A sniper shot.”
Jack nodded wordlessly. Then, the two of them fixed their gazes on a single spot in the distance. There, stood a small wooden cabin that seemed to overlook the entire forest.
“It seems to have come from that cabin.”
“That’s within enemy territory. I had a feeling someone would eventually make use of it,” Albert remarked.
Jack agreed.
A building that commanded a bird’s eye view of the battlefield was an exceptionally convenient thing to have. But although its utility was apparent, there was the downside that it was easy to deduce that one was hiding within. Its advantages and drawbacks were inextricably linked, and now, the two of them had been attacked from that cabin.
“As I recall, only a handful of people chose the sniper rifles, since they’re not easy for an amateur to use.”
“In that case, the list of potential suspects have been narrowed down.”
It wasn’t yet certain, but considering the skill of that sniper shot a moment ago, both men instinctively landed on the sniper’s true identity.
“——Is it Moran?”
“——It’s Moran.”
Magnificently, the master and student had agreed with one another. If it really was Moran, he could then target these two people with whom he was connected on a daily basis at once: this would be a golden opportunity.
As if they could see the man’s fiery gaze from the window of the cabin far off in the distance, the two men laughed in equal parts astonishment and elation.
“It’s likely that their strategy involves him shouldering their defence alone, while the rest go after our flag. That’d be why we barely encountered the enemy ever since we set foot in here.”
“I see: so they’ve made our camp the main battlefield. But in that case, we can consider their flag to be near the place he’s guarding.”
Just as Jack had predicted the location of their opponents’ flag — a possible route to victory, yet another bullet passed over their heads, whizzing through a spot precisely between the two of them. Considering Moran’s skill, it had clearly not been intended to hit.
Jack rotated his shoulders wearily.
“He hasn’t moved from his previous position. Moreover, that shot…… His aim was clear.”
“Indeed. It was a provocation — to ‘come and get me’.”
Saying that, Albert smiled, and Jack burst into laughter.
“Gahahaha! How impertinent!”
Despite being right in the middle of enemy territory, the old butler paid no heed to his surroundings as he raised his voice. Then, a ferocious glint twinkled in his eyes.
“Excellent. Let’s make him rue the day he picked a fight with us.”
“Agreed. For him, we shall be worthy opponents.”
With smiles on their faces, the two men turned to the cabin, and dashed toward their top-priority target at breakneck speed.
✦ ✦ ✦ ✦
As Albert and Jack had reasoned, the blue team’s camp had been transformed into an intense battlefield. The opposing team’s forces were shoving aside the vegetation as they advanced, and the blue team’s rear guard fired volley after volley of bullets, pulling out all the stops to defend their position. Even though it was just for fun, the heated atmosphere made it feel almost like a real combat zone.
“Oi oi, is help not here yet?”
“Everyone’s scattered all over the forest, so it’s hard to reach them. For now, we’ll have to get through this on our own.”
“Can’t we do anything about that? Still, it looks like the enemy forces are dwindling. Let’s hang in there and ride this out.”
Near the flag, some nobles were exchanging words of encouragement. Next to them, some children had banded together, and were firing indiscriminately with glee.
“Ahaha, this is fun!”
“Ah! I got someone!”
“We’re under attack here — someone come over~”
The children were laughing as they brandished their revolvers, and it made for an unpleasant sight. At first, the adults had taken issue with it, but then they remembered how they’d played war games themselves when they had been younger, and decided not to take it too seriously.
In the midst of all that, a distance away from the group of children, a girl was sitting quietly alone.
“…………”
This isolated figure was nothing more than a nobody who’d been excluded by her friends. But the adults who were supposed to point out this incongruity were all absorbed in the heat of the battle: unfortunately, they hadn’t even noticed her very existence.
“……It’s so boring.”
Those words fell from her lips. But disappointingly, they were swallowed up by the din of the gunfire and shouts.
Perhaps she should just go and get shot. That was what crossed her mind, but the moment she was about to get up, a small hand gripped her shoulder and stopped her.
Startled, the girl looked behind her, and saw a familiar face.
“What’re you doing? Even if it’s just one more person, our team needs more firepower — surely you weren’t thinking of dropping out on your own, right?”
After delivering that stinging rebuke, Helena Curtis sat down beside the girl, and began loading her gun.
Even now, as she looked at Helena’s angry profile, the girl’s face was screwed up as if she was about to cry.
“……Why? Even though I betrayed you?”
But Helena responded in astonishment.
“What’re you saying? I’m only doing this because I want to win. Don’t take this in a weird way.” Her mouth twisted into a frown, as if she were deeply unhappy.
At Helena’s words, the girl retracted her gratitude, and leaned back a little.
“Y-Yeah. Sorry……. That’s right. It’s for the game.”
Disappointed, she lowered her gaze. But once she’d finished reloading her gun, Helena’s expression morphed into one of sullen dissatisfaction as she continued.
“……That’s why, I’ll forget about how you left me out before.”
“!”
Those words were somewhat twisted, but even so, they carried a clear depth of emotion. Helena’s cheeks had turned red; as the girl registered that, her eyes vaguely misted up.
But it wasn’t like she was crying and begging for forgiveness here. The girl pursed her lips, and abruptly cast her gaze forward.
“……I see. Then, let’s forget about those unnecessary ties and join forces.”
“Yeah — we’ll definitely win. And if we lose, I’ll treat you to something.”
Helena and her former friend. The two of them stood side by side on the same battlefront, laughing as they once did.
——I’m glad I had the courage.
In her heart, that was what Helena thought.
