It is fucking INSANE of her to think no one would marry Crestless commoners when SHE LITERALLY CAME TO GARREG MACH partly due to the intent to marry ONE OF THE THREE FUTURE LEADERS OF THE THREE COUNTRIES???
Tumblr media
Like I get that FEH can sometimes fuck up on some character details but negl this isn't even that out there in terms of Dorothea's writing, she's just so inconsistent it's nuts
I really "love" how Azura's FB was hijacked by Dorothea and her issues so that we can talk about her world's plastic writing where somehow the concept of "orphan" only exists because of magic dragon blood (which is downright contradicted by other Fodlan characters' existence, but of course we never confront her with this contradiction) and then uwu all over Dorothea's tragic backstory. Would have been nice if Azura was allowed to talk about the tragedies she had to endure like Valla's destruction, the abuse she suffered in Nohr, the xenophobia she faced in Hoshido or the tragic end that awaits her if she sings the cursed plot song too hard. But I guess she should be happy that she can sing for a loved one.
Poor Azura. Reduced to Corrin's side piece and used for more Fodlan uwu nonsense.

Help me, i've been looking at bleach stuff again and suddenly feel that i was too harsh on the thousand year blood war when it first published, and now im desperately scrounging for good byakuya/hisana content.
so with that in mind, what do ya think about the sternritter in bleach? personally i've always felt that for all the cool aesthetics and powers at play, they're just a bit too unsympathetic/monsterous in terms of character writing that it hurts a lot of the drama of the tybw. But also recently I have considered how that was arguably the point in terms of ywach creating an army of metaphorical and literal monsters because the value of their lives mattered so little to him that all he looked for was strength. which... seems somewhat obvious in retrospect but still. idk, i guess all these years later bambiettas fate still unnerves me. and i wasn't even much of a fan of her until all that happened to her.
You asking this on the SAME DAY that I bought six zanpakuto at a con is HILARIOUS timing lmao
The Sternritter are in a sort of weird spot for me. There was always a hint of sympathy from me to them just on the basis of what had happened to so many Quincy by the hands of the Shinigami, and how on top of that many were under the culture Yhwach cultivated of pure-blooded Quincy needing to rule over everyone else as the strongest and if they can't live up to his exacting standards they will be considered just as worthless as impure-blooded Quincy/non-Quincy - for the majority of them it's kinda just a no-brainer that they would end up being as cruel as they are even to each other, after living in what is essentially a dog-eat-dog world filled with Uber Racism. And you can see how deeply some of the Sternritters buy into this, how even being sentenced to death or having their powers stolen from them does nothing to shake their belief in this man who stabbed them in the back. The dogmatism is engraved into some of these characters, to the point where literally nothing will make them ever see Yhwach as anything other than their leader.
Along with that, some of the Quincy, like Bazz-B and Liltotto and others, realize (at least somewhat) how shit their system was once they see how easily they are thrown away after doing everything right (or, if nothing else, never doing anything more wrong than the Quincy Yhwach chose as "the best"); they're willing to work with Shinigami to get justice against what was done to them by a leader they genuinely saw as god.
And in the middle of absolute dogmatism and rebellion, there are ones like BG9 and As Nodt, who seem to follow Yhwach not out of outright loyalty but out of a fear of death itself. Given who they're fighting (literal death gods) and who they both are as characters (As Nodt being someone who induces fear into others, BG9 being a robotic lifeform), it's definitely A Neat Choice to have these two specifically follow Yhwach not out of a sense of loyalty but out of an intense internal fear that they feel Yhwach both alleviates (by giving them the means to avoid death) and induces (by promising to kill them should they fail him).
They aren't all a monolith even with how deliberately isolated they were from pretty much all non-Quincy society, which honestly makes them pretty interesting as a total group.
But, yeah, on the other hand a lot of them don't really have much in terms of individual personality outside of cool one-liners or My Power Is My Personality. And some others have that issue and their power is just fuckin' annoying as shit and makes them inherently unlikeable GERARD. FUCK YOU GERARD HOLY GOD WERE YOU THE ACTUALLY THE WORST QUINCY EVER. There will be Bazz-B and Jugram's immensely interesting dynamic with each other, there will be Bambietta's genuinely tragic fate despite how deeply despicable she was as a character, there will be the Femritters' absolute determination to continue living and not letting anyone including Yhwach kill them... and then there's fuckin'. Pepe, the Bootleg Zommari that Kubo bought on the black market loose in an envelope. Or The Yapper who literally died in a montage and whose name no one gives a shit to remember. Some who really have nothing to them at all despite being elite enough Quincy to be given Schrift at all.
So, like. Overall I actually like them quite a bit? At least definitely as a generalized group. Individually there are some really really good stand-outs here and some really really wet farts there. And Gerard fucking sucks and I hate him

🔥 Hubert?
It is entirely possible to like Hubert and not like Edelgard and vice versa like. That is an absolutely insane thing to see MANY different people say/agree with. Even with how deeply they are connected to each other they are characters that act pretty damn different from the other and it's possible for folks to vibe with one over the other because of that.
For another take that might not be hot but I still wanna get out, I find it frustrating that Hubert's one support that has someone bring up whether his undying loyalty to Edelgard is actually helping her at all when he never directly challenges her and thus never actually lets her grow as a leader - an idea that's actually incredibly interesting to delve into as it challenges Hubert's ideals and shows off how surprisingly childish he can be when criticized ("when I do literally everything Edelgard wants without question you call me a doormat but when I go behind her back and do things without her notice you call me unhelpful!! what I am supposed to do then??" "bitch TALK to her??? that thing you failed to do EITHER TIME????") - ...gets dropped so unceremoniously in favor of "I like you Ferdinand" "well I like you too Hubert." Actually meaningful discussion that both shows how genuine Ferdinand is in actually helping Edelgard and brings up the question of whether Hubert is actually helping Edelgard with how little he directly challenges her gets thrown out the window in favor of shallow compliments and gift giving that in the verse of the supports comes so out of nowhere Ferdinand genuinely thinks Hubert got sick; it's annoying as fuck

🔥 Dimitri
Hmmm... I guess my hottest take for him is that I often wonder what it'd be like if Dimitri had like... an unendearing flaw? Like a consistently Not Perfect aspect about his character that visibly and noticeably makes other characters upset/annoyed with him that aren't a result of a staggering amount of untreated and exacerbated mental trauma.
Don't get me wrong, the arc he goes through makes it to where he doesn't necessarily need a flaw to still make mistakes (since the making of mistakes and the overcoming of them are often what makes a character arc impactful) and he's a fine enough character as is. It's just that, hm... I'll use Claude for an example of what I mean right? Outside of his arc of learning the truth and opening up to others, he's a guy that (using one flaw) tends to cross boundaries with people and has that be a trait of his that crops up in multiple areas. And it's something that does noticeably make others uncomfortable when he does this (Marianne's supports being the best example of this), so it's undeniable that this is meant to be a flaw in his character. It's also not a flaw that is meant to endear you to him the same way, for a classic example, being clumsy would be.
It lets me know that it's not just because Claude has to go through his character arc that he exhibits flaws in his character, which... kiiiinda isn't really the case with Dimitri? He only makes the mistakes he makes because the narrative decided to shit in his cereal - if they didn't have a driving narrative force causing them to go through growth through the making of mistakes (think those boring-ass No Powers Modern Day College AUs), Claude would still be nosy-to-a-fault and would still have to work on that outside of a grander narrative, because he as a character independent from a grander narrative has this flaw.
Dimitri on the other hand is never violent, dismissive of others, withdrawn, etc., until an outside force meant to forward the narrative pushes him to exhibit these flaws - which again! This is by no means a bad thing! Dimitri is still a pretty good character, in large part because of this role in the narrative he has! I just sometimes wonder what it'd look like if a character got annoyed/upset about a flaw of his - or if he otherwise just showed off a flaw of his - in a more... casual setting? Like it didn't have to do about death or vengeance or trauma, but just "Hey man I didn't like that you did that mind knocking it off?"

Since this is just the emoji without a topic attached I'll just go with anything lmao:
Wyll's character being scrapped and recreated near the end of BG3's development and that causing his writing to be underwhelming in comparison to the rest of the cast does not and will never mean that he would have been more interesting if he was kept the power-hungry arrogant dick he apparently was in the early access. Like I swear to god some people's ideas of "interesting" are so shallow and boring, his kind and altruistic nature make him and Karlach stand out immensely in a cast of characters who mostly otherwise start off incredibly self-centered you people are just edgy

🔥 for Engage
I love most of Ivy's character but I wish her "I clung onto this one thing for salvation for my shitty situation because no one could take it from me and it was my way of rebelling against my terrible environment" was like. Literally anything other than Alear. Not even because it's an inherently bad thing, because it would be super interesting... if, like, Alear wasn't the player character and it didn't look so much like this is just more Look How Cool The Player Is Everyone Loves Them So Much

🔥 Ingrid
Dunno how much of a hot take this is but she's one of the VERY few characters that I felt was way more endearing in Hopes than in 3H. There was more of a focus on her racism and her actually overcoming it in a natural way, and while I never gave 3H much flack for its attempts at doing so for her i just found Hopes' way of going about it much more, well, focused, and thus way easier to connect to. She also just came off as way less of an obnoxious know-it-all in Hopes? She's still pretty confident but isn't so... judgy of others (at least, from what I remember anyway), which was a breath of fresh air for me personally.
And also, I dunno how hot this take is either but I think her AM endings are HILARIOUSLY better than her non-AM ones. She gets to follow her dreams of being a knight AND never taking on a husband (something that is specifically noted in her solo AM ending, despite the already existing implication of this due to it, like. Being her solo ending lmao), girl's out here livin' the live SHE wants and we can root for her for that

hmmm, 🔥 about fe3h, but make it something that would actually be one in your specific mutual corner of Tumblr as well, and not just the fandom in general (because that would be too easy)? 👀
Well funnily enough the one hot take I for sure know the majority of my mutuals don't particularly agree with is one I literally just saw one of them say LMAO but I think the monastery is not NEARLYYYYYY as bad as people try to make it out to be. I never once found it to be tedious and I loved running around talking to all the NPCs loitering about the place, and call me an omega nerd but dammit I liked reading the shit in the libraries 😭😭😭

🔥 for FE Heroes
I feel like Book... 7?? The one with all the Big Booba Snake Ladies. I feel like that one had a chance to be really interesting in exploring the depths of identity and how one feels they've lost too much of themselves to be considered the same person as who they were before, if, like... it cared to be anything but a Big Booba Lady Who Like-a Da Summoner fest.
Plus the old goat guy who turned evil out of nowhere actually had a pretty banger motivation in starting the chain of the Golden Seer but the execution of his EEEEEVIL nature and his plan were dumb as shit

🔥 + Anything you wanna say about Claude
I always felt that this was at best a lukewarm opinion but with the release of Hopes' plague upon the 3H's fandom I feel this take is way more, uh, dividing, I guess is the word?
But Claude as a character works infinitely better when he doesn't go out of his way to get what he wants and doesn't put anyone in harm's way. It's way more interesting to have this smart, secretive, curious, manipulative guy still have hard set morals that he adamantly refuses to cross and are arguably stronger than most of the cast he's in's morals, because making him a super smart guy who kills people for power is literally just a lameass bootleg stereotypical DND wizard who can't even do the magic.
People who like Claude being a power-hungry dick as his entire personality play Baldur's Gate 3 pick Origin!Gale and go out of their way to Ascend him to godhood

Secret good guys who def only hated the Nabateans for their eeeeeeeeevil rule and are perfectly ok with everyone else. I’m glad FEH took this opportunity to show them in a more sympathetic light which totally justifies their genocide (sarcasm, if you couldn’t tell)

Hey Raxy, since you're so set on screencapping our posts to respond to them on Twitter, do you mind screencapping the ones where we show the mods of the Edelgard discord server you're in engaging in racist behavior?
Because, hey, what was it that you had said before? "One of the most thankless and sometimes difficulties duties of a community is to excise the harmful elements of it"? You were so willing to do it with Diaphin... oh, but that was only because she had "set back your work" of cowing someone you didn't like off of social media, wasn't it? Guess you don't care about people spreading horrifically racist sentiments in your community as long as they don't bother you
