About the Kokushibou x Muzan little sister ask can I get prompt 8 please 😅 sorry for the inconvenience.
.。.:*✧Prompt 8: "It feels right, promise I don't mind."
.。.:*✧Warnings: Slight sexual tension
╰╴⇢。.:*✧A/N: If an appearance/personality is made evident, then it is because you are related to Muzan.
Tumblr media
`` [Y/N], my beloved sister, have you considered ever finding a suitable partner such as I did? ``
Your elder brother, Lord Kibutsuji Muzan, spoke as you both were seated in one of the many rooms of the Infinity Castle that was well away from everyone else since your discussion held private matters.
`` Brother, you made your past wives go insane, and the one you have now is a fake. So therefore, it does not count. ``
Muzan let out a huff of annoyance at the same time you did, the habit being something you both inherited unfortunately which led to the Upper Moon Two to tease you about, which led to him becoming disciplined right after.
`` That is not the point. [Y/N], I do not want you to be alone- ``
`` But I'm not alone, I have you and the other Upper Moons..- ``
`` Ah yes, the Upper Moons you say? ``
There was a glint of mischievousness in Muzan's eyes that you became all too accustomed with, knowing he was coming up with a great plan that you know utterly nothing about. Truth be told, finding a partner would not seem like the worst thing, but your stubbornness has stopped you from giving into your older brother's wishes.
`` Since you brought up the Upper Moons, I'll start from there. ``
You quirked a brow up in response to his choice of words, crossing your arms habitually and holding the same accursed scowl Muzan would also make during his meetings.
`` Why don't you get to know them, `` he started, referring to the higher ranks. `` The Upper Three ranks would make suitable partners and would have no trouble protecting you when I am absent. ``
You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose trying to see a somewhat decent future with any of them. Sure, the idea had its pros, but far too many cons, especially with Douma. He was tall and handsome, sure, but had little to no emotions whatsoever and was too much of a masochist for you to handle.
Then there is Akaza. He was respectful to women and you actually found that trait attractive, but he was too focused on becoming strong and probably would not even give you the attention you would need.
Lastly, Kokushibou. An even taller demon who was quiet, well reserved, and surprisingly good looking despite having three sets of eyes. For once, you did not know the male's motives due to his nature, which allured you to him further. You have tried to strike up a conversation but he was quick to end it and would disappear somewhere else in the Castle.
`` Muzan, I would never consider Douma suitable, Akaza is a 50/50 chance, but Kokushibou- well..- ``
`` Well? ``
You wanted to voice out your opinion of the Upper Moon One to your brother, but knowing him, he would rat you out instantly just so that your relationship with him would get a move on so he can be satisfied.
`` Actually, nevermind, I'll take some time to think about it brother. ``
You got up from your chair and exited from the large room, jumping from the balcony and onto another platform. You repeated this process until you were well away from Muzan's quarters.
You were not even set on a destination, you just wanted to clear your head of his desire to find you a future husband. The idea was not a bad one, in fact it was a smart move in the first place, but it felt forced and not genuine to have to pick based off your brother telling you to.
You were so lost in your thoughts that you did not notice the large figure just in front of you, and before you knew it, you bumped right into the figure's back, causing it to fall over with you on top.
`` Who- ``
`` I apologize! `` You blurted out before the voice could finish. `` I was not looking where I was going and ended up tumbling onto you so I'm sorry. ``
You quickly got off of the large figure who also stood up and adjusted his hakama accordingly that got slightly messed up in the fall. Once the figure is turned around, you are met with 3 pairs of eyes glaring down at your shorter form. It was none other than Kokushibou, or better known as the Upper Rank One based on the kanji in his eyes. You look stunned as you take in his appearance. You expected a much more piercing gaze due to him usually having one, but instead of that, his face was more relaxed and dare I say neutral.
`` There is no need princess, `` the male said as he bowed in respect, not daring to leave unless you order for him to do so. The demons that lurked around the Castle were ordered by your high and mighty older brother to refer to you as "Princess" since he deems himself as the king. You objected of course, but in this moment you had no ounce of rejection to give. Usually you would dismiss the demons that call you such a thing, but it felt different with Kokushibou.
`` Still I bumped into yo- nevermind. Kokushibou I can trust you right? ``
Your question came out of the blue for the demon. Why were you suddenly asking if you can trust a man like him? Of course he did devote his life to both you and Muzan but his inner feelings and self doubt block himself from doing so fully. You always made things difficult for him.
`` Yes, you can entrust me with your life. ``
`` Are you only saying that because my brother told you to, or are you genuine? ``
The demon was rather taken aback by your bold choice of words, his eyes slightly enlarging before going back to a neutral expression. He tilted his head to the side ever so slightly, confusion taking over his features.
`` Why would I not want to protect someone dear to me? ``
You took a singular step back, desperately fighting the heat rushing to your cheeks and so to not embarrass yourself in front of him you covered the bottom half of your face and feigning a look of pondering.
`` If you are genuine as you claim to be, then I shall tell you. Muzan wants me to find a suitable partner. ``
You were blunt yet again, believing that sugarcoating information only draws away time that could be spent doing something much more worthwhile. You removed your hand from your face, now holding a stern look with the much taller Upper Moon whose expression has shifted. A visible vein was pulsing on his neck that you learned was due to annoyance.
`` Have you found anyone? `` Kokushibou said with no clear indication of aggravation, but you knew of the male's habits from the years that you have you have to learn of the Upper ranks and their habits. You stepped closer towards him until your chest dangerously brushed against his, your hand reaching up to his hand and grabbing it gently. Kokushibou tensed up at the feeling of your soft hand being interlocked with his, so much so that he could not take his eyes off of your enticing ones.
`` Yes. You. ``
You stood on your tippy toes just to move closer to his face. His height may have been an obstacle but you succeeded, leaving the demon to be well enough flustered for it to be noticeable. Your little manipulative tactics resembled those of Muzan's, you are siblings after all. You tugged your hand away from his, sliding it up his forearm ever so slowly and to his chest, resting there and not daring to break the eye contact you have built.
`` Even though I am directly blood related to Muzan, would you be willing to be my partner and love me for who I am instead of who I am related to? ``
Kokushibou was well aware of what you meant with those words, after all he himself is very intelligent and could see through your advances. But even so, he found himself falling for them time and time again. You could simply be doing your hair and his mind would wander to how your raven locks would feel in between his fingers. With you being his Lord's younger sister, he thought it would be practically sinning to think of you in such ways, but now that the opportunity presented itself, he would not let it slip from his grasp.
`` It feels right, promise I don't mind. ``
`` That's all I needed to hear from you Kokushibou. ``
It took one small lean forward for your lips to land on his. Kokushibou instinctively returned the kiss as if he was programed to do so, except it was his full will driving him forward to finally have you as his own. To be able to have you by his side was almost a dream come true for him without even realizing it. Demons are essentially deprived of any real feeling so to have you return his feelings of infatuation fed into his desire all the same.
Although before the kiss could turn into a much more scandalous one, you retracted, but cupped his face in your hands.
`` Would He approve of this? `` Kokushibou asked whilst peering into your enchanting eyes again. His hands had moved to your waist but were quickly removed after the kiss, his own fears blocking him from allowing himself to submit to your enticing touch.
`` I don't need his approval, I am my own person who can make her own decisions. But, it was his idea so there is no need to worry. ``
`` That is all I needed to hear. ``
Kokushibou was the one who leaned forward this time, but before your lips could connect, he went to your neck and bit on your skin harshly which was bound to leave a mark. You gripped at his hair and tugged him away from your neck after you let out a small whine since your greed was increasing.
`` I am simply marking what is mine now, isn't that right, Princess? ``

Day-to-Day
Part of the Whatever Tomorrow Brings series
Chapter 3: Jack
Word count: 4.2k
Read over on a03, or below the cut:
Let me know what you think :)
November 2002
Emily thought she knew what exhaustion was, thought that the long days and short nights at the BAU had taught her how to function on small bursts of sleep.
Then she had a baby.
Her body was running on fumes. The 36 hours she had spent in labour with Theo had left her shattered, and in the three weeks since her baby was first placed on her chest she didn’t think she had slept more than 90 minutes at a time.
She groans as Theo cries out from the bassinet sitting up on the edge of the bed and reaching out for him before he could wake Aaron up. It was his first day back at work in the morning after his paternity leave and she wanted him to get as much sleep as possible
“Ok, sweet boy.” She says, lifting the baby into her arms and settling back into bed, she one handedly shrugs off her pyjama shirt and undoes her maternity bra so she can feed her son.
She rests her head against the headboard and closes her eyes, knowing it was only a few short hours until the day would begin. ______________
Aaron wakes to find his wife sat up, her eyes closed as she leant against the headboard, Theo fast asleep on her chest. She was wearing her maternity bra and her sweatpants, clearly having given up on a shirt at some point in the night. She had one hand cupped under the baby’s bottom, the other hand moving up and down his back. The movement was the only sign that she was awake.
“Your son hates sleep.” She murmurs, opening her eyes to look down at Theo. “Well, apparently he hates me sleeping.”
Aaron sits up next to her and kisses her bare shoulder and cups the back of Theo’s head. “You should have woken me up.”
She smiles at him, exhaustion clear across her face. “You have work, it didn’t make sense for both of us to be up.”
“Can I help at all?”
“Can you take Jack to school?” She asks, looking back down at Theo. “Now he’s sleeping I might try and have a nap.”
“Of course.” ______________
She’s late picking up Jack from school. Theo had slept in the afternoon, and so had she, and the next thing she knew she should have already been out of the house. She gets there as soon as she can, Theo screaming in the back seat and her nerves very much on edge.
“Ok, baby. Please stop crying.” She practically begs as the car pulls up to the school drop off, Jack stood there with his teacher. She steps out the car, and opens the door for Jack to get in. He gets in, not even looking at Emily as he clicks his seatbelt into place. Pulling the door shut, muting the sound of Theo’s crying. Emily turns to Jack’s teacher, sees the sympathetic look on her face.
“I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t worry, Mrs Hotchner. I’ve been there myself.”
Emily smiles and nods at her as she gets back in the car. She sees Jack in the rearview mirror, the upset on his face clear as his younger brother continues to cry.
“I’m sorry, Jack.”
He doesn’t respond. _______________
Aaron gets held up at work on his first day back, leaving Emily to sort dinner for a still grumpy Jack as she tries to soothe Theo. She ends up with Theo in a baby wrap, content to sleep against her as she cleans away dishes from the, very mediocre, mac and cheese she had made.
Jack is still sulking when she walks back into the living room, his eyes fixed on the tv screen as he ignores her.
“Jack, sweetie, that's enough cartoons for tonight.” She says gently, feeling like she was treading on eggshells. He made no move to turn the tv off, the usually very reasonable 9 year old ignoring her. Emily sighs, one of her hands on Theo’s back, as she walks further into the living room, turning off the tv herself.
He finally turns to look at her, his eyebrows furrowed in a way that reminded her of Aaron. “I was watching that.”
She raises her eyebrows at his tone. “Jack.” She says calmly. “Please don’t speak to me like that.”
Jack rolls his eyes at her and stands, walking past her. “Whatever, Emily.”
“Jack.” She says firmer this time. “I know you’re upset, but you have to be respectful, ok?”
“You’re not my mom.” He replies. “You can’t tell me what to do.”
Emily feels like the wind has been knocked out of her, exhaustion and everything that being a mother to a newborn makes her react in a way it usually wouldn’t. “Go to your room.”
“I hate you.” He says as he stomps up the stairs, slamming the door to his bedroom loud enough to wake Theo.
Emily shakes her head, tears pooling in her eyes as she tries to soothe the baby. ______________
When Aaron gets home he finds his wife crying on the couch, Theo in her arms and the baby wrap abandoned next to her.
“Sweetheart.” He immediately puts his briefcase down and sits next to her, gathering her into his arms. “What’s wrong?”
“I suck at this.”
He cups the back of her head, pulls her face from his neck so he can look at her. “You suck at what?”
“Being a mom.”
It takes him a second to react, her words surprising him. “Em, you’re the best mom.” He says firmly, not even entertaining her comments for a second. “What happened?”
“I was late picking up Jack from school.” She says, shifting a, miraculously, sleeping Theo to rest his head on her shoulder. “I overslept and he was so mad.” She shakes her head at herself. “And he was grumpy all evening, and told me I wasn’t his mom. I overreacted and sent him to his room.” She clears her throat. “He told me he hated me.”
He sighs and cups her cheek and kisses her forehead. “That doesn’t make you a bad mom, baby. You’re exhausted. And Jack is adjusting. He’s gone from being just with Haley, to losing her, to living with us and becoming a big brother all within just under 10 months. That’s a lot for anyone, let alone a 9 year old.”
Emily nods. “You’re right.”
“And he doesn’t hate you. Far from it. He’s just not used to sharing you. Sibling jealousy is completely normal, even when you don’t include the rest of it.” He kisses her forehead. “Want me to talk to him?”
She shakes her head. “No, I’ll do it.” __________
She gently knocks on Jack’s door an hour later. The baby settled and Aaron with him.
“Jack, it’s Emily.”
There's a pause, and for a moment she thinks he’s fallen asleep. “Come in.”
Emily walks in and smiles at him. He was sat in his bed, his favourite toy tucked under his arm. “Hi, sweetie.”
“Hi.”
She closes the door behind her and sits on the edge of his bed. “Should we talk about earlier?”
He looks away from her, sniffs as he looks down at his bedsheets. “I’m sorry.”
She places her hand under his chin and makes him look up at her. “I am sorry too, I think we were both a bit sad and said things we shouldn’t have.”
Jack nods and suddenly moves towards her, hugging her. She wraps her arms around him too and kisses his hair. “I’m sorry, Emily. I don’t hate you.”
“I know you don’t, sweetheat.” She kisses his hair again, her hand running up and down his back. “I’ve had an idea.” He removes himself from her grasp, his head tilted in curiosity at her.
“What idea?”
“How about on Saturday, dad stays home with Theo for an hour or so and you and I go get breakfast at the usual place?”
“Just the two of us?” He asks, the hope on his face making her chest swell.
“Just the two of us.” She confirms, ruffling his hair. “What do you think?”
His smile is the only answer she needs. ______________
August 2012
It’s when Sara asks him about the picture that he keeps in his dorm room that Jack really, truly, thinks about it for the first time.
It’s a picture taken at his high school graduation. Emily on one side of him, Amelia on her hip, his dad on the other with Theo in front of him. All of them have wide smiles on their faces. The trauma they had been through less than a year before, and still lived with, not present in the happy family photo.
Sara smiles when she sees it and picks it up off of his desk. “Wow, is that your mom? She’s so pretty.”
Jack finds himself almost unable to answer for a moment, unsure how to explain his family dynamic to his new girlfriend. That he had only met his dad when his mom was dying. That a bigger part of him than he would admit had spent the last decade of his life watching Emily with Theo and now Amelia wishing that she was his mom too.
“Yeah.” He says before he can think about it. “Well, technically no.” He corrects, shaking his head at himself, immediate guilt for discounting Haley. Sarah frowns at him and puts the photo back down. Jack sighs, running his hand through his hair. “My mom died when I was 9. Emily is my stepmom, she’s raised me since then.”
Sara smiles at him and reaches for his hand. “Did I ever tell you my dad is technically my stepdad?”
Jack shakes his head at that, the new information about his girlfriend sinking in.
“Well.” She continues. “He married my mom when I was 12, but he’s always been there since then. He’s my dad.” She pauses as if she’s considering if it’s her place to continue, but after a moment she does, a kind smile on her face. “It’s ok if you consider Emily as your mom, you know? I’m sure your mom wouldn’t mind.”
That night he lies in bed and looks at the picture, thinks of how Emily had been there through everything since they’d met. How far they had come since she was teaching him Spanish to distract him from an argument between his parents. How far she had gone to protect him and his siblings when they were separated from his dad, sacrificing her own happiness for them. How fiercely she loved him, the way he knew she would go to war with anyone who hurt him.
She was his mom. ______________
November 2012
Jack gets more and more nervous as they approach Arlington. Sara was coming to meet his family for the first time, for Thanksgiving break of all things. He’d felt confident when he had first suggested it, wanting his girlfriend to know that part of his life.
Now he was more unsure than ever.
“I wish you’d calm down.” Sara says, rolling her eyes at him from where she was sat in the passenger seat. “Isn’t it me that’s meant to be nervous?”
“I know, it’s just...they are really intense.”
Sara stares at him for a second before sighing. “Ok fine, do you want to go over it all again?” She suppresses a smile when he looks almost relieved at her suggestion. “Go ahead.”
“Don’t be surprised if you hear more than one language being spoken.” Jack says as they pull off the freeway. “And, despite how much she might end up talking about her job, please don’t let Mom scare you.” ______________
Emily smiles as she opens the front door to Jack and Sara, beckoning them in from the cold. She immediately pulls Jack into a hug, which he gladly returns.
“Jack, I missed you.” She pulls back to look at him, to try and see if he had somehow changed in the few months it had been since he had last been home. “Your dad will be glad to see you, he’s been talking about this all week.”
Jack smiles at her. “It’s nice to be home.” He clears his throat as he pulls away and grabs his girlfriend's hand. “This is Sara.” He turns to Sara and smiles at her before turning back to Emily. “Sara, this is my mom - Emily.”
Emily swears her brain short wires for a second. Jack had never called her mom before, exclusively calling her by her first name the entirety of their relationship. She doesn’t have time to react before Sara smiles.
“Nice to meet you, Emily.”
She recovers in a second, pushing the emotions down until she has time to process them later. “Lovely to meet you too.”
They all turn to the sound of small feet hitting the hardwood floors, Amelia careening into the back of her mothers legs. She wraps her arms around Emily’s leg, shyly peering out from behind her. Emily smiles, grateful for the distraction, as she bends down and picks her up, settling the 3 year old on her hip.
“Amelia, this is Sara.” She says pointing at her, a smile on her face. “She’s Jack’s girlfriend.” Amelia proceeds to bury her face into Emily’s neck, making her smile and kiss the side of her daughter's head. “Sorry, she can be a bit shy around new people.”
Jack leans forward to try and catch Amelia’s eyeline. “Millie, can I have a hug?”
Amelia turns her face to look at Jack, her hand playing with Emily’s hair, before she smiles at her brother and leans towards him, smiling as he scoops her into his arms.
Emily smiles as she watches her youngest and her eldest together, Amelia giggling as Jack tickles her, brings her out of her shell so he can introduce her to Sara properly. Theo bounds down the stairs to see his brother, the way he had missed him was clear for everyone to see.
She feels the emotion flare in her chest again, the memory of how it sounded when he called her mom flooding through her. ______________
Aaron walks into his bedroom, a small sigh as he runs his hands through his hair, Amelia’s demands for Emily to come read her a story making settling her down for the night. He hears water running in the ensuite and heads towards it.
“Sweetheart? Apparently I won’t do for storytime tonight.” He walks into the bathroom. “You do the voices better…” He trails off when his eyes land on his wife, the way she quickly wipes her face to get rid of the tears she is clearly trying to hide from him. “Em, baby? What’s wrong?”
He places his hand on her cheek and the dam breaks, tears streaming down her face. He pulls his wife into a hug, feels the way she grasps the back of his polo shirt, her fingers digging into the material.
“It’s stupid.” She sniffs into his shirt.
“You’re never stupid.” He says, his hand running up and down her back. He pulls back enough to cup her cheek, wiping away the tears.
“Jack called me mom, Aaron.” She says, sniffing as more tears fall down her cheeks. “He’s never done that before.”
Aaron smiles at her. It hadn’t escaped him that his son had been calling her that all night, as if he had been for years. He’d noticed Emily’s momentary reaction every time, the way she froze slightly before suppressing a smile.
“You are his mom, Em. You and Haley both are. Despite the circumstances, he’s been lucky enough to have both of you.”
She smiles at him, laughing at herself as she wipes tears away from her face. “I know, and I’ve always been happy for him to call me whatever he wants to.” She shakes her head as more tears start to fall. “I just don’t think I realised how much it would mean to me.”
Aaron leans forward and kisses her forehead. “Love you.”
“You too.” She hugs him close, letting him hold her tightly. “What were you saying about storytime?”
Aaron chuckles before pulling back to look at her. “According to our daughter I can’t do the voices like you can.”
Emily laughs. “I should probably go read to her then.”
“Why don’t you get into bed? I’ll bring her in here.”
“If we do that she’ll fall asleep with us, we’ll never get her back to her own room.” She raises an eyebrow at him, he’d always been the firmest in keeping their children in their own beds.
“We can break the rules just this once.”
She is just settling into bed when Aaron walks back in, a sleepy looking Amelia perched on his hip, her storybook in her hand.
“Hi sweet girl.” Emily says as Aaron places Amelia on the bed, the toddler immediately crawling under the covers and curling up against her mother.
Amelia tilts her head at Emily and places her hand on her cheek, clearly taking in her blotchy skin and red eyes. “Mama sad?”
“Oh, no sweetie. Mama is ok.” She kisses the side of Amelia’s head and takes the book out of her hand, smiling as she realises it was Goodnight Moon, the same book she had read to her daughter every night so far that week.
Aaron climbs into bed next to them, wrapping an arm around both of them as Emily opens the book, pleased to have both of his girls in his arms.
______________
June 2018
“Mom?”
Emily turns around in her kitchen, a cup of tea in hand, and smiles when she sees Jack standing behind her.
“Jack! Hi.” She rounds the kitchen counter to hug him. “What are you doing here?”
He hugs her back. “I had no more classes today, thought I’d pop by before Sara was done.” They had moved back to the DC area after college, both of them going to medical school at Georgetown. “I wanted to talk to you about something.”
She looks at him curiously. “Of course. Shall we go sit down?”
They settle in the living room, Jack suddenly seeming nervous as he clears his throat and pulls a small box out of his jeans pocket, passing it over to Emily. She opens it and her eyes widen at the ring inside.
“It’s beautiful Jack.” She smiles at him. “I am already married though.”
“Mom.” He says, unamused at her attempt at humour.
“Sorry.” She bites her lip to stop herself from smiling. “So you’re going to propose to Sara. How are you going to do it?”
“I don’t know, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. How did Dad propose to you?”
Emily smiles at the memory. “I’d actually just had my tonsils removed and he was looking after me. I woke up from a nap and he just asked me.” She laughs. “Actually it’s more like he told me. He just said ‘marry me.’” Emily realises that hasn’t helped at all. “Jack, you’ve just got to do what’s right for you and Sara. You’ll think of something.”
“Dad thinks I’m too young.”
Emily rolls her eyes. “I think what your dad is forgetting is that I was your age when we got married.”
“What was it like when you planned your wedding?” Jack asks, the idea of planning his own stressing him out even before he proposed. Emily smiles at that, his confidence in the fact Sara would say yes.
Emily knew she would too.
“Oh I had very little to do with it. I just let my mother get on with it. The only things I picked were your dad and my dress, and let me tell you she had something to say about both those choices.” She smiles at Jack, a slight look of mischief on her face. “I’m sure if we called her she’d be happy to help.”
Jack pales slightly at the mention of Elizabeth’s involvement. “Oh god, no.” ______________
May 2019
Emily finds him exactly where she expected to. She smiles reassuringly at him when he turns around to look at her, before turning back to look at Haley’s grave.
It was a tradition of sorts. Jack came here whenever he had a big life event, anytime it was an important day. His high school graduation, as soon as he could after his college graduation. The day he finished med school.
“I thought I’d find you here.” She says as she reaches him, standing next to him. “Are you ok?”
“Yes.” He answers quickly, before turning to look at her, smiling sadly as she quirks an eyebrow at him. “No. I feel guilty.” Jack says, looking back at the granite headstone in front of him, purposely not looking at Emily.
She furrows her brow. “Guilty about what?”
“That I don’t immediately miss my mom in moments like this. It’s the biggest day of my life and part of me feels like I’ve come here out of obligation.” He admits. “She’s been gone so much longer than I had her, and sometimes I forget you aren’t my biological mom.” He sniffs, his jaw tightening as he tries to hold back his emotions. “And then I remember and I feel awful.”
Emily had spent the entire time she had known Jack wishing she could take his pain, his grief, away. Grief Emily had got a taste of only the year before when she lost her father. He had lost his mother at such a young age, and hadn’t known his father for the first several years of his life. He still had so many unanswered questions, things Haley had never had the chance to fully explain to him.
“Sweetheart.” She says, placing her arm around him and putting her hand on his shoulder. “She wouldn’t want you to feel like this. She loved you so much.”
He nods, wrapping his arm around her. “Is everyone worried?”
“Sara doesn’t think you’ve left her at the altar if that’s what you mean.” Emily says, a wry smile on her face. “But we should get going.” ______________
Emily smiles as she dances with Jack, Sara and her father dancing alongside them.
“Thanks for today.” Jack says, a smile on his face as he looks at her.
“No need to thank me, Jack.”
He hums in his throat in disbelief. “I have a lot to thank you for really.”
“Jack-”
“We’ve never really talked about it.” He says, the song they were dancing to fading into the background. “The older I’ve got the more I’ve realised how hard it must have been for you at the start, but you’ve never said anything. Never really made me feel any different.”
Emily smiles at him, emotion welling in her chest. “Jack, of course I didn’t. You were a kid. You’re my kid.”
He stops the dance, the music coming to an end anyway. “I love you, Mom.”
“I love you too, Jack.”
“Can I cut in?”
They both turn to see Aaron standing there, smiling at both of them. Jack steps back, indicating his father can step in to dance with Emily.
“I should go see my wife.” Jack says as he steps away.
Aaron smiles at Emily as he pulls her to him, one arm banding around her back, the other grasping her hand in his. “I remember dancing at our wedding.”
Emily laughs. “That was so long ago now.”
“We’re getting old, Mrs Hotchner.”
She makes an outraged noise, uses the hand on his shoulder to smack him lightly. “Speak for yourself, Mr Hotchner.” ______________
Emily kisses the side of Amelia’s head, her daughter fast asleep on her lap, the excitement of the day too much for the 10 year old, the evening now passin into the early hours of the following morning. She laughs when she sees Theo dragging Elizabeth up to dance, always able to convince his grandmother to do anything.
“Hi sweetheart.” Aaron says as he drags a chair next to her and sits down, throwing his arm across the back of her chair. “Is she ok?” He asks, smiling at Amelia, her head pressed against Emily’s shoulder, her mouth hanging open slightly as she sleeps.
“She’s fine, she’s just tired.”
He kisses his wife's temple. “It has been a long day.” He looks over to Theo and Elizabeth and back to his wife, not missing the sad smile on her face. “Are you ok?”
Emily looks at him. “Yeah. I just wish Dad could be here, that’s all.” She sighs, the thought of John’s death only the year before still felt sharp to her at times. The feeling she had when she got the call was still fresh, as if it had happened only yesterday.
“I know you do, baby. I do too.” He kisses her temple again, trying to press all of his love and support into her skin
“He really loved Jack.”
Aaron smiles at that, memories of Jack trying to teach John how to play video games. The way he had instantly had the older man wrapped around his finger as soon as they had met.
“The feeling was mutual.”
They sit there and watch their eldest dance with his new wife, the promise of a new beginning hanging in the air.

Your stomach curdled as you walked between the guards. For whatever foolish reason, you’d assumed Loki would accompany you. And even more foolish, you were disappointed when he did not. He was king and had much more pressing matters; his usual excuse. As true as it was, you were still irked by your task.
Your thick winter wool had been replaced by your former satin. The gown was not so sultry as before but it offered little protection against the chill of the palace corridors. You were allowed a cape woven in the king’s green, though the hood was to be kept up until you reached your destination. As before, you were the royal shame.
The further you descended, the more your nerves stormed. You remembered your first journey to the dungeons; the night felt long ago. Like many of your memories, it had faded since your time with the prince and his heartless accomplice. It was fragments but still sent a shiver through you. You could, at least, recall, the fear, the anger, the helplessness of your time in the capital.
Your slippers whispered over the stone floor as the gaoler showed you past the cell doors. The stink of unwashed bodies mingled with that of stale blood. There were coughs, some murmuring, and the occasional maddened shout from down the row. The cell you’d been left to was empty and open as you strode by and you refused to look within. It was at the next, that you were stopped and the thick key was shoved in the slot.
You touched your stomach, a thoughtless habit forming as each day saw you a little rounder. Your middle could still be hidden beneath loose fabric. Birger said not yet halfway through your time; maybe for months and with over a month of deprivation, you weren’t so big as you could be.
The door opened and the shriek of the hinges made you tremor. One prison to the next. You were no different than those locked behind these doors. You were kept and controlled. You had no voice, no will, no wants. You only did what was needed to survive.
One of the guards entered first as the gaoler stood with arms crossed beside the door. You heard a scramble within and you were ushered through by the other armored man. He grabbed a stool from against the far wall before he followed. You pushed your hood down and closed the cloak around your body as the frigid air nipped at your gown.
Gilla was dragged away from the wall where she huddled. She didn’t struggle as the guard brought her to sit at the center of the cell and the other planted the stool behind you. You sat and your hand dropped away from your stomach. Her hair was dirty and her face smeared with tears and grime. She was terrified and sniffled quietly as she blinked away the fog of her imprisonment. Your name on her brittle lips made your heart knot.
You recalled what Loki said and cleared your throat. This girl was not your friend.
“Gilla,” you said flatly.
“Have you come to save me?” She clutched her hands. “They found you! Oh, I’m so happy you’re safe--”
“And do you know who took me away?” You challenged. She shook her head in confusion. “So the man you sold yourself to never mentioned me. You never spoke in those times he came to you? Were you so easy to roll over to him?”
“The prince? Oh, if you send for him, surely he can get me out--”
“Do you have no idea why you’re here?” You sneered, “Even if the prince could, do you think he would save a peasant?”
“The king… the king took you from the dungeons…” she batted her lashes.
“He did and what did he make of me but a prisoner elsewhere,” you looked away from her.
“I don’t… understand,” she lowered her chin. “I don’t know why they’ve brought me here.”
“Well, you best think on it and figure it out. The prince cannot help you for he is a criminal himself.” You looked down at her. How had that little girl you’d grown up with become this? How had you come to this point? “He plotted against the king, surely you must’ve known.”
“How could I?” She babbled as her tears began to fall. “He never spoke to me of such things. He only wanted… love.”
“Love?” You scoffed and stopped yourself from laughing at her naivety. “Do you truly believe these noble men could feel anything for us but the basest desires? That their favour is little more than fodder for their egos? That they delight in our degradation rather than our pleasure?”
“Thor was always kind--”
“Thor used you.” You insisted. A lump rose in your throat. “As he did me. He… as he gave you jewels you have no use for, he got his use off me. He would have worn me until I was dead.” You inhaled and quelled the flurry of emotion inside. “But you never truly cared for more than your own self, eh?”
“What? I… we’re friends.”
“Are we?” You bit down. “I remember my time down here.” You looked around. “I remember how I was even dumber than you. To have begged the king to spare me. You left me behind that night and I was locked up like some animal. Whipped like some braying donkey.” Your mouth was bitter as you spoke, “Bred like a mutt. And when you saw me, still alive, what could think of but the silks and the gold and the crown?”
“I didn’t--”
“You must’ve been so worried for me to have fallen into the prince’s arm’s so easily,” You snorted.
“We all thought you’d run.” She squeaked.
“Oh? Yes then, I suppose it was easy to forget about me.”
“I never did. I…”
“This is the last favour you will have from me, Gilla.” You declared. “And I pray you are smart enough to accept it.”
She blinked, confused, and quivered as she stared back at you.
“Do not lean on your ignorance. The prince is a traitor and you laid with him. Who would believe that in all your time together, he never mentioned his intent against his brother?”
“He didn’t--”
“Listen to me.” You hissed. “The prince will be brought to trial for his crimes, but a whore like you can be cast away and forgotten by all. If you did abet him in his offenses, you will be dealt a cold steely justice. You will not be afforded the same hearing or the same grace as his highness. You are just another commoner fed to the jaws of the rich and their squabbles.”
“But I don’t know anything.”
“Think. Hard.” You stood as you snarled, “And perhaps by the time the inquisitors come to you, you will recall.”
“But--But I--”
“If it had been you that night, I wouldn’t have left you behind. Even if it was your stupidity which led us to trespass. I would have stuck by you.” Your chest tightened as you spoke, “I wouldn’t have abandoned you but I realise now, Gilla, that you never did care for anybody but you.”
“I love you, I do.” She pleaded.
“No,” you uttered, “I don’t think you do, but I did love you, my friend.”
“Please…” She sobbed.
“I will not see you again, I expect,” you said as the guard retrieved the stool, “So let us part without hatred. Take this last generosity from me and save yourself. Perhaps you might live to learn from it.”
“I didn’t know he… I’m sorry.”
“I don’t believe you,” you backed away. “You’re not sorry for me, only sorry for yourself.” You turned and bent your head. “Goodbye, Gilla.”
You strode through the door and the guards followed, signaling the gaoler to lock up behind them. You raised your hand and bit into your knuckle as you were overcome with despair. Your old life was over. The last remnant of your former existence was extinguished.
It was your final surrender. You belonged to the king completely. Your body, your mind, your child; every part of you was his.
🐍
You returned to the chambers exhausted. Those days, you were always tired. You hung your cloak and stood by the fire to warm your numb fingertips. You undressed quietly and retired to the bedchamber. You sat in your shift before the hearth and watched the embers beneath the tent of logs.
You thought of the baker’s daughter and that first day you’d met her. She had been sweet, once. When had she grown so… greedy? How could one raised in simplicity come to want what she had never known? You closed your eyes and refused to cry. She would not break you; if nothing else had, she could not.
You floated in a haze as the orange glow of the fire shone against your eyelids. There was much yet to worry for. Would the king’s men arrest the prince before he could evade them? Would the kingdom overcome the rent caused by the royal siblings? Would your child survive the months before you?
Hours passed and you did not move. You stayed as you were, held by the moment. A taste of solace you hadn’t known in ages. No anxiety of your tormentors’ return, no fear of what was to happen in the next instant. It was just you and the hearth; you and your child in what could be the only peace you had together.
When at last you were disturbed by the gentle open and close of the door in the next chamber, you still remained. You listened to the king as he moved around and sensed his shadow as he appeared in the door frame behind you. He was quiet as he neared.
He said nothing, as if he believed you were asleep. You knew he didn’t but he let you think so. You listened to the rustle of his clothing as he shed each layer. As stubborn as he was, as much as he insisted nothing had changed, something had. You were both afraid of it but would not admit it.
You felt a tug at the bottom of the blanket spread over your legs. You tried to ignore it, thinking perhaps he had passed too closely. A rush of air flew up below the wool Loki’s fingertips tickled your ankle. You opened your eyes and looked down at him as he reached below your shift.
“Your majesty,” you yawned and shifted but he caught your knees and kept them apart. “What--”
He hushed you with a soft his and dipped his head below the blanket. You braced the arms of the chair as your body went rigid. He wore only his undershorts as he bent and plied kisses to your thighs in a torturous trail towards your pelvis. You grasped his head as he rolled your shift higher and higher and his breath grazed your cunt.
“My king,” you begged. You were trembling. You knew you could not stop him.
He ignored you still and kneaded your thighs as he pushed closer. His hands slid up your sides as he nuzzled the patch of hair between your legs and you gasped. You weren’t ready. You never truly were. His tongue surprised you as it flicked along your folds and he purred. He cupped your tender breasts as he delved into you, your core alight at his command.
He dragged his tongue along your bud and lingered on it, teasing it with small swirls and hungry suckles. Your arms flew back to grip the back of the chair and he rubbed his thumbs over your nipples as they stood out beneath your shift. He groaned as he lapped you up. His gentleness was disarming though he remained as adamant as ever.
“Please,” you begged as your body responded against your want. “Please…”
He purred and kept on, his head moving against your bunched up skirt and bobbing beneath the blanket. You arched in your seat, unable to resist the bloom deep inside. You felt the release and suddenly you needed it. All your stress, all your fear, anger, and hurt, bundled up and brewed inside you as ecstasy muted them.
You cried out as every muscle in your body tensed and eased in a split second. You moved your pelvis against Loki’s mouth as you rode out your climax and he didn’t relent until you were limp and breathless. He sat back on his heels and let the blanket drop to your feet. His hair was tangled and askew, his lips glistening as he grinned at you.
He rested his hands on your thighs and came closer so that he leaned against the front of the chair.
“My brother has been arrested,” he said.
Your lashes fluttered and you nodded, speechless. He bent and the tip of his long nose met your stomach. He slid his arms to hug you as he turned and pressed his ear to your middle. You froze as you watched him, as if he was listening for the stirring of his child. You were startled by his tameness. He kissed your stomach as he drew back to look at you again.
“I need you.” He murmured, “I ache. Badly.”
You felt the stone set in your skull. Ever as you were, his plaything. You knew his meaning; it never differed. And he never asked, only demanded,
He took your hand and stood. He pulled you up and you let him. You hadn’t the strength to deny him. There was no denying him. You didn’t want that Loki; cold and callous. So you would cede to his needs and hope they were met quickly.
He let you go as you neared the bed. He rolled down his shorts and his desire stood up before him. He lowered himself across the mattress and beckoned to you. You lowered your eyes and chewed your lip to keep from showing the turmoil raging inside you. You lifted your shift over your head and dropped it.
He guided you over him and stroked his cock as he did. He pressed his tip along your folds, his hand on your hip as he urged you down. You sank to his hilt and he sighed. He stilled you and looked at the joining of your bodies. The silence enshrined you and you closed your eyes. He took your hands and placed them on his chest.
He gripped your waist and moved you atop him. Slowly so that your clit rubbed against him. You hated how good it felt, hated that you couldn’t stop, hated that he was being so… nice. You dug your nails into his flesh and sped up. He held you tighter and forced you to slow. You grunted and opened your eyes, frowning down at him.
“No,” he spoke at last, “Not like that.”
You shook your head. When had he ever wanted anything but hard, fast pleasure. You pulled your hands from him and he forced them back as they were. You struggled with him for only a moment as he squeezed your wrists in warning.
“Slow,” he bid as he stared into your eyes.
His hands returned to your sides and he rocked you again. You shuttered as the tide began to roll inside of you, swelling as it grew. You moaned as you began to quake. Loki’s deliberate stride had you confused. His pace matched your pleasure, quickening only as your voice rose louder.
You came again. You twitched atop him and he moved you as your wits left you entirely. His own voice filled your ears and his thick breaths intermingled with his lurid groans. His hand snaked around to your back and the other spread over your stomach. He stilled you and tilted his hips into you over and over from below.
He exclaimed as his orgasm struck him and impaled you entirely. He slowed and eased you down against him. He embraced you as he laid you over his chest and cradled your head as his chin rested against your head.
What was that? You wondered as your heart raced with his. His petered out but you couldn’t help as your mind struggled against your body.
When you calmed enough to move. His arms fell away and you parted from him, his seed spilling down your thighs. You fell back on the mattress, your flesh still buzzing. You couldn’t look at him. Why would he do that? Like that?
You were his whore, he’d told you time and again. You rolled onto your side, your back to him and crossed your arms. He ran his fingers along your spine.
“Are you unwell?” He asked.
You didn’t answer. Why would he even ask that? Your eyes tingled and you fought to hold back your tears. He was just torturing you. That’s all this was.
“Speak to me, mouse,” he grabbed your shoulder and forced you flat on your back.
You gritted your teeth and stared at the ceiling. “Why?”
“I was gentle…” He said, his voice tinged with confusion.
“Yes, why?” You repeated.
“I…” He paused and the silence was thick as it choked you.
“When your wife arrives, what will she think of me, your whore, and the bastard inside of me?” You spat.
He sat up and leaned on his arm as he watched you. You refused to look at him.
“I’ll deal with my wife.” He said, “And I’ll deal with you. Don’t forget yourself, mouse.”
You scoffed and tried to turn away from him again. He held you down and let out a long breath. His hand came up to frame your face. “I am heartened, mouse, that you do remain so stubborn.”
🐍
Sleep did not come easy that night. Not to you. Loki was hardly bothered as he snored beside you. His arm was across you as if to remind you of his power over you. Your thoughts strayed back to all your worries. Gilla, Thor, the man beside you, the child in your stomach.
Your life was not your own. It had never been. As you thought, you realised you had only ever been used by others. You had only ever been a footnote to someone else’s will. You had nothing, not even your own body, your own mind.
You slowly slipped from beneath Loki’s arm. Your thighs were sticky still with his cum and you were sickened by the sensation. You stood and went to the bath chamber and cleaned yourself with the cold water of the basin. You saw yourself in the looking glass. You looked hollow; you felt it.
You went back to the bedroom and covered yourself with the silken robe allotted you. You bent, awkwardly, to feed a log to the ashes and stirred it until you found ember. As the flame began to lick at the pale bark, you stood with a groan and passed into the front chamber.
You wandered around the space; it was smaller than the king’s former residence. You neared the table placed against the wall and stared at the peculiar object left atop it. Careless, you thought as you pulled the leather-sheathed dagger towards you. Or deliberate?
Loki had a wife coming and brother to be tried. You were trouble for both. He was ever a trickster, ever deceptive, and perhaps, you had been dumb enough to believe him. Again. He didn’t want you back, didn’t want a bastard to muddy his inheritance; he’d only wanted a reason to be rid of Thor. Surely, he was so intent on keeping you hidden so that none would notice if you were gone.
Had you been foolish enough to think he felt anything towards you but the need to sate his own lust? That he had any loyalty to you beyond a warm cunt? That you had any place here once he married? That your child would be welcomed as anything but a nuisance?
You sat and freed the dagger from its cover. You held the blade up in the dim and felt its sharp edge with your fingertip. It sliced easily into your flesh. You turned it in your hand and thought of bringing it to your throat or plunging it deep in your chest. Your eyes welled and at last, the dam was broken.
You cried into your palm as your other hand gripped the dagger. You trembled and peered down at your stomach. Would he care? If he found you in a river of your own blood? It would be a favour to all.
You wept until your eyes were swollen and your throat was hoarse. You were a coward. Why couldn’t you just do it? What did you have to live for?
“Mouse,” Loki’s voice was cautious. “What are you… give me the knife, mouse.”
You dropped the blade and flinched as it bounced between your feet. You shook your head and mopped up the last of your tears from your cheeks. Loki neared slowly and bent to lift the dagger. He took the sheath and replaced it on the silver. His jaw squared as you avoided his gaze.
“What were you thinking to do with this?” He growled.
“Nothing,” you croaked. “I was only curious.”
“Don’t lie to me.” He hissed. “Whatever you were thinking, I don’t want it to ever cross your mind again. Understood?”
You nodded and hung your head. He moved away from you and opened the chest atop the side table. He tossed the dagger within and locked it.
“I told you. It is treason to spill king’s blood.” He stomped back to you. “Death cannot save you from my wrath.”
“I didn’t--”
“You thought to.” He snarled. “Get up.”
“Your majesty--”
“I will not tell you twice.” He barked.
You stood and he seized your arm. He turned you and marched you back into the bedchamber. He sat you down on the edge of the bed and you expected him to tear open the robe. You expected the same as he had been. You were certain he would be atop you in an instant.
But he passed you and went to the cloak hung beside your own. He fished around the pocket sewn into the lining and took out a bundle. He returned to you and held out the folded linen, bound with a length of hide lace. You frowned and he dropped it into your lap.
“Go on,” he loomed over you.
Your hands shook and you pulled free the bow looped atop the bundle. You unfolded the linen and revealed a pair of green booties, winding snakes sewn into the soles and golden ribbons woven along the top. They were small, meant for an infant. You cradled them in your hands as your throat tightened.
“My mother sewed them,” he said. “I found them after she died. I had almost forgotten them before I moved from my own chambers.” He sat beside you heavily. “I don’t know what else to do with them.”
You peeked over at him. You lowered them back to the linen and set them aside. “They’re meant for a prince.” You muttered.
“No, only for my child,” he said, “Prince or no.” His cheek twitched and he stared at the carpet, “Don’t make me hide them again. I couldn’t bear it.”
You were quiet. You’d never seen him so vulnerable. Angry, annoyed, longing… but never so solemn. Despite all your loathing for him, your heart squeezed. You took his hand, he winced, but let you move it. You put it to your stomach.
“It is my child, too,” you said softly. “I couldn’t…”
He nodded and pressed his palm firmly to your midriff. You sat, silently, the crackle of the fire the only noise. Loki did not move, nor did you. A wordless pact forged between you. The child would live. It had to.

A Marriage Arrangement with death pt 4
All I can say is well. Well my bad-
Read Part 1 / 2 / 3 / 3.5
Tumblr media
Y/n's eyes slowly opened, turning her head she was face to face with Savage.
Smiling softly her hand reaching out for his face, rubbing Savage's cheek with her thumb lightly.
He slowly woke up, his irises bright in color and lowly shining in the dark room. Y/n said nothing- thank the gods for black out curtains. She thought his eyes were so pretty with there soft glow
He kissed the palm of her hand softly as she smiled, leaning forwards they shared a soft kiss.
"Well good moring." She smiled.
He only sighed, pulling her into his chest as she chuckled.
"Go back to sleep."
"Come on we can't stay in bed forever." Y/n responded kissing his chin, he was rubbing her bare back with one hand she smiled at him, relaxing in his grip she sighed happily.
"We're getting married today."
"Again."
Y/n chuckled, "You don't want to get married again?" She teased.
"Why unify again and tell the galaxy when my galaxy is infront of me."
Y/n flushed deep red, as she moved her gaze away, her chest tightening and butterflies filling her stomach.
"Oh...I..." she spoke trying to come with a counter. His hand carassed her cheek as he sat himself up.
Y/n kept her gaze away the headboard seemingly more interesting, but soon then she realized she was laid down on her back, Savage over her frame as she looked at him to catch his gaze- and hold it.
"Hello there..." y/n spoke trying to cover her akwardness.
He leaned down kissing her softly without another word, her arms wrapping around his large frame, hands rest at the top of his back.
Pulling away softly Y/n whined playfully, chuckling he held her, she pulled him back down into a kiss happily as a leg wrapped around his bare waist.
A soft groan of pleasure was drawn out into the kiss and the two pulled away softly with a pant.
"Moring sex sounds fun." Y/n joked as he chuckled, going to kiss her again there was a knock on the door.
Y/n groaned in displeasure, its always someone. Pulling herself from under him she covered herself with a robe. Walking towards the door it opened with a push of a button.
"Oh- Misses Gladlys-" y/n responded, "I uh...why are you here?"
"I was requested to get you on account of your mother Princess."
Y/n nodded, "uhuh for?"
"Well to get ready of course. It is your big day."
"The ceremony isnt till later in the day?" Y/n questioned.
"Well yes but-"
"Misses Gladys I love you. And you know that. But I have another matter- Very Very big matter."
"But Princess."
"Just this once. Give me..." She spoke looking back at Savage, his hips and below covered by the blankets as his top half was put on full display for her, "Give me 45 mintues-"
"Fourty-Five Mintues!? Princess you're mother-"
"Sorry Misses Gladlys! I promise just once! Bye!-"
"But Princess-"
Y/n shut the door, locking sealing it shut from the inside.
"Now." Y/n spoke turning back to him walking towards the bed as she dropped her robe.
"Where were we?"
"Sleep."
"Right."
She climbed into bed as she curled up to him, his arm drapped over her hip in protection.
"The sweet glory of sleeping in." Y/n smiled nuzzling into his chest as he chucked, both going back to sleep for another hour.
Yet she would be woken up by a loud knocking, causing her to groan. Savage was also woken up as Y/n pulled away from him recovering herself she opened the door.
"Do you have any idea what time it is!"
"Yeah Yeah Im going." Y/n spoke walking back into the room and going back to Savage.
"Wish me luck with her- and someone will be here with a set of chlothes. My brother's will want to talk to you before hand," Y/n spoke kissing him softly, "Love you."
"I love you too."
She smiled as she left, being yelled at as soon as she opened the door.
"Yeah yeah lets go."
Savage sat up rubbing the back of his neck, meanwhile getting dressed his chlothes from the other night, pulling the boots on and bottoms, leaving his armour off he pulled on the turtle neck. That's when he received a transmission.
Picking up the hologram fromed as Ventress stood there.
"Savage."
"Mistress."
She crossed her armors, "has she trusted you?"
"Yes." Savage spoke, "I believe this may be a strong allyship between the two worlds-"
"You fool! This is an infiltration! Do not get attached!" Ventress argued.
"I thought this was ment to be Unification. Not a hoax." Savage tried to defend, but it was useless.
"Count Dooku will be present today both at the ceremony and to sign documents. Its when we will attack, killing Count Dooku and the royal family. And Dathomir will finally regain what was lost to them."
What was he suppose to say- No? He couldn't do that, he did belong to Ventress after all. The spell did what it was ment to.
"You will kill the royal family! And that Pathetic thing you call your wife." Ventress demanded.
"Yes. Mistress."
"Good."
The transmission was cut as his head felt like it split open, holding it in pain he growled.
The doors opened.
"Hey! Savage! We wanted-" it was one of Y/n's brothers, "You okay?"
"I-I am fine." Savage lied.
"Oh. come on then."
He followed the group leading him into a lounge area, all her brothers sat there. They cheered for him as he ended.
"Big day huh! Must be exciting!"
"You idiot he was married at Dathomir as well."
"Your an idiot!"
"Sorry for them." Fresco spoke apologizing for the twins, handing Savage a cup, "for your headache."
Savage nodded almost immediately downing the water, leading him to come sit down
"You heard fathers coming back?"
"Good maybe mother will finally stop being so mean."
"Please you know she bullies him too."
"You havent met all of us have you?" Fresco spoke.
"No I don't believe I have."
Fresco smiled, "there is a lot of us. You know the twins and Attiucs."
The twins were busy arguing but Atticus waved looking up from his book.
"Ezio here is the oldest." The older teen raised a cup taking a drink.
"Im after him, and Jacob's next, after are the twins but you met both of us" Fresco added, "Juniper is next."
The teen with his hair half buzzed the other side long and braided lifted up a lazy hand, sitting upside down on the couch as he listened to his brother.
"After Juniper its Atticus, and then the triplets."
They were busy dualing around the room with sticks, "Cornelius, Hamilton, and Magnus."
Hamilton stopped to wave Politely but was ran into by his two siblings as they fell onto the floor.
"What about you? And your brothers? Sisters?" Juniper questioned but Atticus kicked him.
"You little shit!-"
"I don't have any brothers. Not no more." Savage responded his glass being refilled by butler standing by.
"Hey! We got you. We're all brothers now." Fresco spoke a fist to Savage's shoulder playfully, "we're an off bunch but mean well."
The group contuied to talk to Savage, it was odd how accepting they really were. Somewhere in the back of his mind made him regret all of this.
He'd have to kill all these people.
So what was the point of getting close?
Soon enough all of there suits came, Savage the only one in white.
"Who do you think Y/n will recieve?" Juniper asked the group.
"I believe a moder. Perhaps Sutur." Ezio explained fixing the flower pin in his hair.
"What is receiving?" Savage asked.
"Hmm?" Fresco asked, "Oh it-"
Mid word Juniper cut in, "It's part of the religion. The 12 gods are believed to comibned to become the earth beneath us. Sutur is just one of the gods, mostly know for being a core due to its controling of everything hot. When you marry one born on this planet goes through a 'receiving' its rare but only twelve can get a god, but you can also get an enity or a passed loved one though that's super rare. They give you there strength within battle."
"But Y/n's much more powerful than a core- which is why she should be getting Hela." Jacob cut in.
"Hela hasnt been someones beck and call since Father." Ezio argued, "and we all know how he ended up. You wish that upon your sister?"
The group went quiet.
"I was given the impression your father was alive." Savage responded.
Fresco sighed, "when he was assigned Hela he descended into madness with each kid born. They think he's in Helheim and will return- He'll be Y/n's receiver."
"I think he's dead dead." Jacob responded, "like he deserves and mother better follow him"
"You can't say that!" Atticus argued.
"Please Attiucs grow up." Juniper spoke.
Savage listened intently, as Fresco looked back at the Zabarack, "We may have a large family, but the heads of the family aren't...the best"
"It sounds like my family." Savage told him as they all started filing out of the room, leaving just him and Fresco in the room alone, "I. Unfortunately grew up without one of my brothers, he was taken away due to his special ablities."
Fresco listened as he poured them both a glass of whiskey, "And my younger brother. I don't remember what happened, or if he's even alive."
Handing Savage the glass they stood by the window.
"Makes you not want to have kids." Fresco questioned, "I know it scares me. Becoming the one thing I hate."
"On Dathomir men are only used for mating and then usually killed off." Savage spoke.
Fresco frowned looking out the window- how was he ment to respond to such information.
"I know my sister will treat you with Kindness." Fresco spoke, "it seems you're already growing on her. I seen you two at the dinner."
Savage felt his chest tighten, he was falling in love with her, and he liked it. He loved the idea of her.
"Guys hurry up or it will be the groom walking down the Isle." Ezio told as he had quickly come back.
The two left with each other side by side. Both enjoying the silence as they walked down the steps. Thats right, He had only been down and up these steps a few times, but those few times were some of the best times of his life.
Stopping outside the castle he looked back, seeing it all shiney as the sun hit it perfectly, looking like something out of a book. The whole walk was like that- there was no reason to take out a whole planet for the sake of Dathomir, Dathomir didn't need another planet- he would of liked them to fix theres first atleast.
"Savage?"
He turned his head seeing Y/n standing there, when was she here? Looking around a bit shaken she stood in her wedding dress- it looked perfect on her, with a full bottom and a lacey top that had the same matching sleeves. When were they at the alter already?
"Are you okay?" She whispered softly, the priest reading off religious text.
"I-" he spoke looking at her what was he suppose to tell her?
Her white dress would be bloodstained within a matter of mintues due to what Mother Talzin was planning?
"I have a headache is all." He responded.
Y/n frowned, "maybe some food afterwords will make you feel better. Caf was even skipped this moring."
"Right." He responded, and left it at that.
"Do you take this man to be your husband? To take of him in sickness and health? To love him without doubt?"
Y/n smiled, "I do."
Her hand gripped onto his in excitement, that small squeeze made him happy, feeling her hand in his.
He had no idea what the woman infront of them said but only said the words as quick as he comprehend.
"I do." He cut the lady off.
Y/n flushed as she looked down flustered.
"Then I do pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride."
Y/n was pulled in quickly, shocking her, but it wasn't unwelcomed, kissing back the large church full of people cheered as they pulled away and as he did He seen Count Dooku sitting next to Mother Miranda. The group of people settling down, calming themselves once more as the woman cleared her throat Savage being gestured over by her brothers who were off to the side as he went over.
"With the coming of age you Y/n will be the caller of one of our twelve gods. You may be choosen for something greater, or passed by as a common folk." She spoke, "are you ready to give yourself to the twelve gods and let them judge you as one!"
"Yes head preist." Y/n spoke as her wrist was grabbed and palmed opened where it was sliced open Y/n gritting her teeth slightly as she was dragged to the floor, only following as her hand was put face down on the alters floor.
The woman moved to the side as the doors behind the alter creaked. Atticus holding onto Savages leg as Savage put a hand on his shoulder telling him he'd be okay.
"By the twelve gods..." Fresco spoke as the door opened a large hand crawling onto the carved in wood.
"I-its Hela..." Ezio asperated as the door swung open heavily crashing into the wall. Which it was hinged to.
The room silent and still as the other swung open.
The figure large, made up of what seemed to be Ash, body exposed and what looked like to be burnt half way just to show her dark innards, she was on all fours as Y/n looked up at her, slowly standing up as it went quiet for a moment.
Y/n reached out her cut hand, Hela reaching out her hand as well as Y/n looked forward keeping her eyes on Hela.
Somewhere some how Helas hand had shrunken along with part of her arm as they were bound by the cut on Y/n's hand.
'They're here-'
A warrior bursted into the doors as Y/n turned her head, "We're being attacked! The ships! They've all been destroyed!-"
The man stopped stabbed through the back, and fell to the floor.
"So sorry to ruin this happy momment."
Y/n growled as her hand was let go, and in place of Hela's hand held a sword, as Ventress walked down the isle.
"Damn are sister really is a bad ass-" Ezio spoke under his breath.
Dooku stood up as well, saber in hand.
"You were foolish to come alone." Y/n argued Hela still behind her looming in all her darkness.
"Who says I'm alone?"
Just as she spoke, a Battalion of night sisters filed into the room from both sides of her.
"Savage." Ventress spoke.
"Yes Mistress."
Almost immediately Fresco who stood besides Savage was lifted up into the air, force choking him as Fresco grabbed at his neck.
"Savage! Stop! Now!" Y/n demanded, "Stop now!"
"Kill him. Now." Ventress demanded.
There was a large crack as the filled church was still in shock, the young man thrown to the floor as his brother immediately surronded him.
"He's dead! He killed Fresco!"
Thats when the chaos started, when one had been pronounced dead.
Y/n could remember, it was all a blur. All the fighting- the blood shed. All she remember was ripping through people with her new found sword, swinging at heads and abdomens, she was luck that her skirt hadn't had a train.
Atticus had ran to her as she fought on the stairs stabbing a nightsister in the face and kicking her back, her white dress covered in dirt and blood, "Y/n!"
"Attiucs! Run away now!" Y/n argued, blocking another weapon, kicking the women in the female Kenobi's
"I'm not gonna leave you!" He shouted.
"Damn it Atticus!" Y/n shouted slicing the woman's flesh and grabbing his hand, "Come on! Lets go!"
Atticus ran hand in hand with her, somehow and some way some of her brothers caught up, they running and escaping to the castle.
"We have to be quiet take off your shoes." Y/n whispered the group hiding behind a wall as they all pulled there shoes off, "You have your run away bags all ready?"
"What?" Magnus asked, his other brother Cornelius, holding his hand, he had lost one of three to Ventress.
"Shit thats right, they never made there's. I'll go with them." Ezio spoke quietly,
Y/n nodded taking a quick head count, they had lost so many already, Fresco, Juniper, and Hamilton.
"I'll take Cornelius and Magnus." Jacob offered.
"I'll take Atticus. Ezio- weapons and maps?"
Ezio nodded, "becareful."
They all nodded, spliting up, Y/n had lucky gotten Attiucs up the stairs and to his room, as he was grabbing his things.
"Y/n." Atticus spoke as she was making sure he had everything for a final time as they carefully walked to her room, once inside she answered him.
"Yes Atticus." She responded going for her own bag.
"Savage...he isnt that mean. I know he isn't." Atticus spoke, "I know we didn't know him long but- he didn't wanna kill Fresco did he?"
Y/n tossed her dress the the floor dressed in trousers now fixing her top.
"Atticus." Y/n spoke kneeling down to him, "I know you liked him. I did too, but I don't even know anymore."
Attiucs frowned, as she held his shoulder's, "Are you going to kill him? Savage?"
Y/n frowned, "I don't know."

April 2025
Bokuto is bouncing around as he waits in the lobby at the airport. For the twentieth time in three minutes, he pulls out his phone to check the time. Of course, he had gotten to the airport earlier than he needed to, but these last two months were the longest in his life. No amount of phone calls, video chats, or text messages could compare to having Seiko there with him. It was like his life felt empty without her, an emptiness that he hadn’t felt since the day he found out he was going to be a dad.
*                      * July 2019
She jumped on Bo’s back, laughter ringing in his ears as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He carried her back to his apartment after spending the afternoon down at Osaka Bay; visiting the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan and ending the day at the Tempozan Ferris Wheel. The day was spent with fingers interlocked, heads resting on other’s shoulders and enough laughter to brighten anyone’s day. Jess made them take pictures at every booth, saying they both needed copies to remember the day; they were stuffed in the back pocket of her jeans.
Moving to Japan was the first big decision Jess had ever made without backing out. Her parents tried to dissuade her from moving so far, telling her that just changing cities would suffice; she knew it wouldn’t. Mark seemed to find his way to wherever she was, but she knew she was safe at her current distance. Plus she had Bo now and she couldn’t imagine not having him in her life.
He tapped the sides of her thighs telling her to jump off his back so he could grab his keys. She hopped off, leaning against the wall by his door. It was still a shock to her that the two of you had become so close in just nine months. It had taken her longer than that to get close to Mark, but then again there were totally different reasons with that.
Jess followed him into his one-bedroom apartment, slipping off her shoes before sitting on the couch. He excused himself to his room to quickly change; he opted to wear jeans while went out but he hates jeans. He threw on some sweatpants and a MSBY t-shirt. He smiled when he saw Jess, slightly curled up on the couch with the blanket she bought him draped across her.
Bo loved how comfortable Jess was at his place and he at hers. She looked like a natural being by his side and maybe if things had been different, if he had somehow gotten closure with you, maybe he could’ve tried with Jess. Given her a fighting chance if anything more than platonic ever arose between them. Bokuto’s own hesitation came from not waiting to even try to compete with Mark and he could almost guarantee that Jess felt the same about you.
The thought left him with a sinking feeling in his stomach, how many great individuals would end up right in front of him for him to turn away because of you? You, the love of his life. The married love of his life. Sometimes it hurt to see those around him in great relationships, having families of their own while he still held on to imaginary hope that you might be his one day.
He talked to Akaashi about it, who asked him if being just your friend was worse than potentially losing you and of course Bo frantically told him he’d stay friends forever if it meant having you in his life. He knew the former setter was sincere, after all he had been around for most of Bo’s one-sided relationship and had even been the one to encourage him to at least try back in high school.
“Wh—no!” Jess let out a sound that mixed together a gasp and a sob. He watched her pull her knees up under her chin and her body start to shake. Bo practically ran over to her, banging his knee against the coffee table in the process.
“Jess! Jess!” He sat next to her wanting to pull her into him, but something about the way she looked told him not to. He watched her chest begin to rise and fall rapidly as she choked out sobs while trying to catch her breath.
Bokuto kneeled down in front of her, placing his hands on her shoulders to try to stop her trembling. He felt helpless, what could he do? How could he help? Something was hurting her, someone he cared about more than himself and he was at a loss. What felt like forever passed and Jess finally looked up to him.
“Mar…married!” She let out another sob, turning her phone so Bo could see it; it was a picture of a tall blonde man in a suite with a woman who looked very similar to Jess next to him in a white dress.
He knew the feeling that Jess felt right now; that soul crushing agony. The massive weight being dropped on you, making you feel even more inadequate than you had been. At least you married someone who looked opposite of Bo, Mark practically married Jess’s twin. He remembered feeling empty when he got your wedding invitation; crashing at Akaashi’s because his empty apartment felt like it would swallow him whole if he was there alone.
“I’m so so sorry, Jess.” He climbed up on the couch beside her, pulled her into arms and after a few moments of resisting, she let herself relax in his arms. His thumb rubbed circles on her back and he gently rocked her back and forth. He wasn’t even sure this was helping, but he didn’t know what else to do.
A few minutes passed in silence before she looked up at him, her green eyes lined with tears and her face red and blotchy. Her expression was completely broken, like a porcelain doll that had been dropped and cracked from the impact. Bokuto used to think the day he watched you get married had truly broken his heart, the day that he knew he’d never have a chance to confess his feelings, but in this moment seeing someone as lovely and pure as Jess this way; today was the day his heart actually broke.
“He wasn’t ready for a relationship but he was ready to get married. Heh.” Jess let out a humorless laugh as she wiped the tears off her cheeks.
“You’re too good for him, Jess.” Bo placed his hands on her cheeks, looking into her eyes. “I mean it, that woman couldn’t hold a candle to you in any way.”
Jess felt her cheeks heating up underneath Bo’s touch and she offered him a small smile. Part of her wondered if he had felt this destroyed and fragile when you got engaged, got married and he had to watch. How selfish could people be? Jess wanted to believe that you were ignorant to Bo’s feelings, but she found that hard to believe with how straightforward he could be. Her eyesight was still blurry from her tears and her head was throbbing, but she wasn’t completely unaware of what her next move was.
In a blur, Jess’s lips crashed into Bo’s unsuspected lips. He was stunned at first, it wasn’t like he’d never kissed anyone before but certainly not Jess. When she pulled away, Bo thought his heart had stopped, she was looking at him, biting her bottom lip.
“Jess, you’re upset.” He ran his fingers through his hair. “I don’t want…I’d hate for you to do something you’d regret or that would hurt you.”
“Bo.” She looked at him, her eyes pleading with him; begging him for a closeness only he could give her in this moment. Fresh tears filled her eyes, “Please.”
It took three heartbeats for him to react to her words. He grabbed her wrist, pulling her onto his lap, his lips pressing into hers. Her arms wrapped around his neck as his tongue slipped between her lips causing her to deepen the kiss.
The smell of sandalwood washed over her as peonies and vanilla filled Bo’s senses. He pulled away just long enough to place his lips on her jaw before kissing along her jawline, traveling down her neck. She stopped breathing, shuddering against his chest as a knot tightened in her lower stomach. She unwrapped her arms from his neck, intertwining her fingers in his hair and pulling it slightly.
He let out a hiss between his teeth, his breath danced across her shoulder. She trailed a hand down his chest, her fingers slipped under the bottom of his t-shirt. His skin heated up as her fingers ran across his firm abs, he pulled back from her. His eyes met hers and after she nodded, Bokuto swiftly stood up with her legs wrapped around him before carrying her down the hall; he kicked the bedroom door shut with his heel.
*                      * October 2019
Jess found herself having trouble lifting her hand to knock on the door. It’d been a year since she met Bokuto and he had become her best friend; maybe that’s why this was so hard. There’s an uneasy feeling in her stomach, a lump in her throat as she let out another deep breath. She could do this, she was an adult and adults face their problems head on. Suddenly though, Jess doesn’t want to be an adult and part of her wants to go back to being five years old when her biggest problem was which crayon to use.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Before the door opened, Jess chickened out and started walking back towards the staircase. She couldn’t do this, she’d come back and tell him another day.
“Jess?”
She squeezed her eyes shut breathing harshly out of her nose. When she turned around, she saw a confused Bo; her heart sank. How could she do this? She couldn’t and of course the one time she hoped he wouldn’t be home, he was.
She heard him call out for her again before she turned around. She walked slowly over to him then headed into his apartment. He immediately picked up on her demeanor, offering her various snacks and drinks; trying to make her comfortable.
She mumbled something causing Bo to kneel in front of her, asking her to repeat herself. Her green eyes met his golden ones and she knew this was it. That once she said it out loud, once he learned of her secret, everything would permanently change.
“I’m pregnant.” She bit her bottom lip, a wave of nausea hitting her and it wasn’t from the baby.
Bokuto, over time, had become slightly predictable to Jess. He was loud and tended to invade one’s personal space without warning and that’s the Bo Jess knew well. But this Bo, the one who was silent, who had scooted back from her and had a blank expression on his face was new to Jess.
“I’m sorry.”
“For what?” The huge smile that appeared on his face threw her for a loop. “This is the greatest news anyone’s ever told me.”
“You aren’t mad?”
“Mad? Why would I be mad?” He jumped to his feet, fingers running through his hair, with the same huge smile plastered on his face. “I’m gonna be a dad!”
Jess felt herself laugh, the anxiety, fear, dread all disappeared and left her wondering why she was even worried to begin with. This was Bo after all and if she could do this with anyone it would be Bo.
“You’re gonna be a dad, Bo.”
“And you, a mom.”
She gasped as Bo scooped her off the couch, spinning her around. He quickly sat her feet to the ground before she saw him drop to one knee. “Jess, marry me.”
“I’m sorry, what?” She grabbed his hands. “Stand up.”
“I mean it Jess.  Marry me.” He shook his head, “I know this isn’t proper, but I love you and want to do what’s right for you and the baby.”
She smiled at her favorite person, squatting down to be eye level with him. “Bo, I love you and love that you’d offer, but we don’t love each other in that way.”
“But we could try.” A pout covered his face, hair slightly deflated.
She shook her head, “You know it doesn’t work that way. I don’t love you in the way I love Mark and you don’t love me like you love Y/N. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
He pulled her into his chest, “I just don’t want to mess anything up, I don’t want to lose you either.”
“Lose me? Sir you are stuck with me forever now.” She felt him laugh against her shoulder. “We’ll figure things out as we go, I promise.”
“I’m gonna be a dad.” Tears fell down his face, a new type of happiness washed over him. “I have to call Akaashi.”
*                      * April 2025
The loud sound of the airport intercom brings Bokuto back to the present, looking up and his eyes land on Jess. He smiles when his eyes land on the little brunette who is proudly pulling her suitcase behind her. Bo squats down when the pair of them get closer to him, his face twists into confusion when Seiko stops walking.
She passes her suitcase handle to Jess before throwing her arms opening, “HEY! HEY! HEY!”
Bo’s face lights up as she rushes into his arms; he wraps his arms around her, picking her up, and spinning her around. He kisses her forehead, squeezing her tightly until she burst into a fit of giggles, trying to make up for the last two months. Jess smiles at the display, watching the two of them together was Jess’s favorite sight.
“Was that your idea?” Bo says to Jess, readjusting Seiko to rest on his left hip as his right-hand grabs Jess’ suitcase.
Jess just smirks as they walk out of the airport. Seiko’s arms wrapped tightly around his neck, unwilling to let go of her dad. Seiko loves her mom, she enjoyed spending time with her and her grandparents in California, but Seiko is a daddy’s girl.
** Seiko has all of her gifts on the coffee table, Bo looks at Jess who just holds her hands up in defense. Seiko is extremely hard to say no to, at least for Jess, Bo on the other hand claims to have invented the pouty look so he’s immune to Seiko’s antics.
“These are for Haruki! I got him a book about California, this tie-dye shirt and these gross jelly beans!”
“Gross jelly beans?” Bo looks directly at Jess who is laughing.
“They are odd flavored; booger, dog food, and others.”
“Anyways!” Seiko shouts, “I got Uncle ‘Kaashi this fancy pen and Misaki a matching tie-dye shirt to mine!”
“I’m sure they will love them!” Bo says excitedly, he leans back in his chair, welcoming the noise that fills his apartment; he’s missed it.
Seiko grabs a wrapped box she’s been hiding, handing it to Bo. “This is for you Daddy.”
Bo eagerly takes the box and unwraps it, Seiko is bouncing up and down as he starts to open it.
“Do you like your shirt, Daddy?” She beams at him, her eyes wide like a kid on Christmas morning.
Bo raises an eyebrow and Seiko immediately slaps her hand over her mouth. He smiles at her before removing the tissue paper and pulling out the shirt Seiko just told him about. He holds up a light blue shirt that has an owl with the words ‘papa owl’ underneath it.
“I love it!” He watches Seiko hold up her finger before running to her room.
“She’s really excited about this.” Jess says to him, sipping her tea.
Seiko comes rushing back into the living room, having changed her shirt to a matching one to Bo’s with the words ‘baby Owl’ on hers. “They match Daddy!”
“They sure do!”
“And this is yours too!” She hands him a small gift bag, but this time she acts shy about it. Bo pulls her into his lap and opens it. It’s a keychain with a picture of her on it, she holds up one of that has a picture of Jess on one side and him on the other. “For when you have a game away from home. So you don’t forget me.”
He wraps her into a hug, “I couldn’t forget about you even if I tried.”
*                      * October 2025
“Coming! Coming!” Bo shouts at the frantic knocking on his door, he looks at the clock on the wall: 10:15PM.
“I know it’s late. I should’ve called.” You start talking a mile a minute as soon as the door opens, your son leaning against your leg half asleep. “Can you watch Ruki?”
He blinks a few times, trying to wake up himself. “Yeah, sure, come in.”
You and Haruki enter into his apartment; Seiko comes around the corner, the noise having woke her up; tightly clinging to her favorite blanket. Seiko drags her feet towards Haruki, she takes his hand and they both walk over the couch. He rests his head on the arm of the couch as Seiko drapes her blanket over him.
“What’s going on?” Bo asks, still looking at you in confusion, reaching out to put a comforting hand on your arm.
You look around before stepping closer to Bo, leaning in to whisper in his ear. “Youta came home late, drunk, and yelling. I’d just rather Haruki not be around for that.”
Bo’s jaw clenches, in all honesty he’s never thought Youta was good enough for you. Not because he has feelings for you, but if you had to be with someone else he’d at least want it to be someone who deserved you.
“Of course, he can stay here. Maybe you should stay too.” He shrugs, “at least until tomorrow.”
You shake your head, biting your bottom lip. “I think it’s best if I handle this now. I’ll let you know when I’m on my way back.”
“He can stay the night. I’m sure Seiko would love it.”
The two of you glance over at the couch, Seiko and Haruki huddled together, barely covered by Seiko’s baby blanket. It had been a gift from Akaashi, a simple blanket with owls on it and even as she gets older, the blanket follows her; Bo has to take it and wash it while she sleeps.
You look at him, nervously looking at the clock. “Are you sure? I’ll come back first thing in the morning so he doesn’t mess up any plans.”
He puts a hand on your shoulder. “Take your time. He’s fine here. I promise.”
“Thank you.” You wrap your arms around him, giving him a hug before placing a quick kiss on his cheek. Smiling up at him, you feel thankful for him, for everything that he’s been doing for you since the locker mix up; he truly is your best friend.
“No worries. That’s what family does, right?”
You nod at him as you quickly rush over, placing a kiss on Haruki’s forehead before leaving. Bo lets out a deep breath, running his fingers through his hair before heading down the hall. He grabs the extra futon from the hall closet, setting it up in Seiko’s room. Going back to the living room, he scoops up Seiko first, tucking her into her bed, but when he heads back into the living room, Haruki is sitting up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.’
“Uncle Bo?”
“Yeah buddy?” He stretches his arms out for Haruki to climb into them so he could carry him. He rests his head on Bo’s shoulder, his voice lagging from the sleep setting back in.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Anything, what’s up?” Haruki climbs onto the futon, Bo pulling the blanket up.
“What’s a divorce?”

Tumblr media
You didn’t sleep one wink after that. Who could sleep after that? You sat up just staring out to nowhere. When you weren’t sitting, you paced your apartment like some crazy woman. When that became too much, you just flipped the tv channels, never staying on one thing long enough to comprehend what was happening. You were restless, and that restlessness freaked you out.
There were so many times you held your phone and just stared at the exchange in a hyper state of anxiety, wondering if he’d send more. After the final message, though, he didn’t send any more. That should have been a relief, but it wasn’t. You then began to wonder why he hadn’t sent any other messages. You wondered if he was drunk and just saying random things, or if he’d meant to send them to someone else.
 By the time the sun was rising, you hadn’t slept a wink. You were wired, mentally exhausted, and completely confused. You were not functioning normally. It took you forever to get dressed and ready to get out the door. By the time you got to your office, you were almost two hours late. That two-hour push back was not ideal. It meant your day would be two hours longer and you had to work triple time to catch up. Thankfully, the only thing that was thrown out of whack was your ability to have any breaks. When you finished one meeting, you immediately had to jump into the next meeting or task. You did your best to stay focused, but it was difficult.
Tumblr media
Once the time the normal workday was finished, you were still left with so much to do. The event was two days away, and there were so many things to iron out. Every time you were in the middle of one thing in came the memory of the text messages from last night. That resulted in you rehashing the whole thing before you groaned and got back on track only to repeat the cycle ten minutes later. You heard the chime on your phone go off, and terror stilled you. What if it was Chris, you thought. Five minutes of internal turmoil passed before you took a deep breath and dug your phone out from inside your desk drawer.
Tumblr media
Scott’s message was a relief. After a few deep breaths, you responded with a straightforward lie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You thought about if you should tell him all about your last twenty-four hours. Chris was your best friend in the world, but you also adored his siblings. With the amount of time you spent with Chris, Scott was almost always around. They had a close relationship, and through your childhoods, you’d gotten close to Scott too. As you began to type to tell him what happened, you paused and deleted it all. You still didn’t know what last night was. You were too chicken shit to text him back to find out. It was like you believed if you just didn’t acknowledge it, then nothing happened, and nothing would change.
Tumblr media
Unlikely, but possible, you thought.
Tumblr media
He was right. It used to annoy the heck out of you, but you’d come to accept it. He’d always tried to get you out and moving so many mornings before the sun even rose. You were always the one to refuse and try to hide and lock him out. Nothing kept him out, though; he always found a way in to drag you out of bed.
Tumblr media
Highly likely and possible. As you typed it, you screwed your face. You’d come to terms with the fact of Chris being a bit of a—free spirit. You’d been around to see all of his girlfriends, the ones that lasted for a year or more, and even the ones that were just months; all of his flings, and all of his one-night stands. You never judged; it wasn’t your place, and honestly, as long as everyone was consenting, you didn’t care. He was a man with needs. His confession flashed through your mind again, and it swirled with the knowledge of him sleeping around. It didn’t make any sense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once you shot off the text, you began to wonder if he was okay. Yeah, there were times he got so busy he just didn’t respond to messages until later but usually if his family called back to back he’d answer. Maybe he was with some girl and too enthralled in their sexcapade that he just couldn’t get around to answering. You began to type a message off to Chris to check if he was okay, but halfway through, you deleted the entire thing.
“Jesus Chris, Y/N. Thirty-something years of friendship, and now you can’t talk to the man?” You groaned in frustration as you dropped your head to your desk with a heavy “thud.” When your phone went off in your hands, you yelped out in the quiet office, scaring yourself half to death.
Tumblr media
That was all it took for your heart to begin a thunderous pace. With bugged eyes, you just stared at the flashing dots that signified he was writing a message.
Tumblr media
You bit your bottom lip hard, so hard you tasted the copper-like liquid on your tongue. You weren’t sure just what you were feeling, but you knew it was more than one emotion. Feeling like his words were your sustenance, you inched the phone closer to your face and waited as the dots appeared again.
Tumblr media
You gaped at the phone as if it were his face. Just what the fuck were you supposed to say? He knew you better than that. He knew that if you didn’t know what to say, you would remain silent. He also knew that if you didn’t respond, you were pissed. Did he think you were pissed?
Tumblr media
They came in like rapid fire. He was texting as he thought. He did it often with you. You did too.
Tumblr media
Panic set in as you realized it was true. “Oh, fuck!”
 It was then your phone began to ring, showing Chris’s face on the screen. Yelping, you accidentally tossed your phone in the air and saw the error of your ways in seconds. As you tried to catch it, it bounced off your hands a few times only to slip through your fingers and bounce on your carpeted floor. When it landed face down, the door opened.
 “Are you okay?”
 You were frozen half laid across your desk with a look of horror on your face.
“Yeah. I’m—fine.” You did your best to sound as believable as possible as you straightened yourself before you stood to walk over to your friend, Irisa. She bent and picked up your phone, then held it out to you as you approached.
 “I don’t appreciate having to hunt you down. We had plans,” she scolded.
 You’d completely forgotten that you were supposed to meet her at her place to grab a bite to eat.
 “I’m sorry, I forgot. Things have been crazy today.” Irisa rolled her eyes though you knew she’d forgive you.
 “The only place we can go now that we missed our reservation is Baltic to take advantage of your forever table there.
 “Why are you complaining? You know you love Baltic’s food.”
 “I do, but I wanted to try that new sushi spot tonight. God knows the next time you’ll have time for me might not be New Year,” Irisa whined. It was your turn to roll your eyes as you walked back to your desk to gather your things.
Before you put your phone away, you saw another message.
Tumblr media
Now he wants to talk. Hadn’t he done enough talking?
Tumblr media
Shaking it off, you dropped your phone in your back and turned back to Irisa.
“Why are you so dramatic?”
 “Maybe I learned from the best,” she finished as the two of you walked out of your office.
 You tried to stay present in the cab while the two of you made your way to dinner. You tried to listen to Irisa talk about her day and the blissful bubble she found herself in with her boyfriend, Callum. You knew they’d make a good match; that was why you set them up. Two years later, they were still going strong. Irisa and Callum liked to tag along with you when you hung out with Chris. You didn’t mind; it was always a good time. Annoyance filled you because no matter what, everything usually led back to him. It felt strange to leave him on read. You were always talking throughout the day.
 When you arrived at Baltic, the hostess Bree recognized you and gave you a welcoming smile.
Tumblr media
“How are you, Y/N?”
 “I’m good. How are you?”
 “Great. You know I love this place, plus I just got a raise.” You high fived her.
 “Congratulations. You know this place would crumble without you.”
 She laughed loudly and shook her head. “I’m glad the boss isn’t here to hear you say that.” You smiled and allowed her to lead you and Irisa to your seats.
 “Your usual.”
 “Thank you, Bree.” She nodded and walked away back to the hostess desk.
 “I still think she--,” Irisa began before you cut her off with a loud, obnoxious sound. You didn’t want to hear it at all.
 “Okay, fine, I’ll shut up.”
 “Finally,” you joked.
 For the next several minutes, the two of you skimmed the menu and got to talking about the plethora of random things you did when you got to together. You never stayed on one topic for too long, but you always came back to those same topics. Everyone always teased the two of you of your scatterbrain antics, but neither of you cared. This was how the two of you worked.
 An hour later, you and Irisa were deep in plates of food. Since you’d skipped lunch and all breaks, you were starving, and it was apparent thanks to the multitude of plates that were spread out across the table.
 “So, is everything planned for tomorrow?”
 You nodded your answer as you tried to finish the calamari in your mouth. “That had been planned for a while now. What kind of planner would I be if I was still preparing twenty-four hours to the event?”
 “Girl, a simple yes or no would have sufficed,” Irisa shot back.
 She was right. You were still wound tightly thanks to no sleep, stressful conditions, and a particular best friend of yours.
 “Sorry, yes. It’s planned.”
 “Is Chris making the trip back for it?”
 Doing your best to keep a neutral face, you shrugged. “Not sure, but I don’t think so. He’s dead in the middle of working.”
 “Still, it’s an important day for you. He’s always been there for you. I doubt he’d miss it.”
 You thought about her words. She was right. He’d been there for every important event in your life—never missed one no matter what. Thinking back again to his messages and your silence, you doubted he’d come. You shrugged and casually brushed it off.
 “If he’s there, he’s there. If not, eh.”
 Irisa studied you with a quizzical look on her face. She’d no doubt heard the over flippant tone in your voice and was now putting on her investigator hat.
 “You sure you’re okay?”
 After taking a demure sip of your margarita, you smiled at her, hoping it reassured her. “I’m good, I promise.”
 Irisa studied you for a few more moments before she nodded and went back to eating.
 By the time you got home that night is was nearing midnight. You were dead on your feet, and thanks to the six margaritas you’d had, the only thing you wanted was your bed. You quickly stripped then face dived into your plush blankets, pushing everything out of your mind hoping to get a good night’s sleep. Tomorrow would be a long day.
 ~~~~~~~
 The pounding on the door was what jarred you from your sleep. You rolled and crashed to the hard floor.
 “Ouuuch!”
 When you snapped your head up and the time on the alarm clock beside your bed came into focus, you screeched. It was eleven-ten. Bolting to your feet, you hurried down the stairs to the front door to let in the hired hair and makeup team and your assistant Aamal.
 “We’ve been standing here for almost twenty minutes, Y/N.”
“I know Aamal. I’m so sorry. I have no idea what happened. Come, come in.”
 The team of five walked into your townhouse and began setting up. Aamal held out the black garment bag to you. “You’re lucky I called them this morning. You were supposed to get this yesterday.”
 “I know, everything is crazy. I forgot. I’m gonna be late. Give me twelve minutes to take a shower.”
 You hurried up the steps to your bathroom. You’d gotten good at taking twelve-minute showers and still being squeaky clean. While you showered, you blamed the margaritas you’d had for this predicament you found yourself in now. If you’d kept it at one, then you would have woken up on time, and you wouldn’t need to hurry to make it to the party for twelve. At this rate, you had no idea if you were going to make it at all.
 By the time the makeup and hair team began primping and priming you, it was eleven-thirty. You decided to change the planned hairstyle from a sleep updo to a mixture of loose and flowy curls. It would still go with the outfit, but it would take less time to accomplish. Then entire time your foot shook. It was a nervous tick that you’d had since you were five years old, a tick you still hadn’t outgrown. It was a tick only a select few knew what it meant. You were close to losing your shit.
 When you were stuck in traffic eight minutes from the venue, it was a little after twelve-fifteen.
 “Calm down. No one is supposed to arrive until twelve-thirty anyway. You just like to be early,” Aamal voiced.
 “I have to look over the setting and give any last-minute changes.”
 “I don’t know who plans their own party,” Aamal scoffed.
 You were meticulous and knew what you liked. You didn’t want to hire anyone for something you could do for free. Plus, it gave you yet another opportunity to showcase your knack for this career you chose to be in. You loved it.
 When the car finally arrived, you hurried inside through the service entrance and met the rest of your team. As you approached them, you looked around the venue, already pleased with what you saw. The pinks, greens, golds, and other colors of the tropics all went well together. When you had the idea, it was just a few pictures thrown together, and now it was a full-blown tropical luau. A smile spread across your face was the indication your team needed to know that you were happy with the finished product.
Tumblr media
“This is perfect, guys. You did well.”
 They looked relieved and then overjoyed. As they walked you through the glass-roofed solarium, you took in every palm tree, pineapple, and bamboo hut you passed. It was perfect.
 Before you knew it, the room filled with your family and friends, everyone had the same reaction as you. They marveled at the beauty of the decorations and the elaborateness of your plans. You were that planner, the one to bring the elaborateness to life.
 “Y/N!” Spinning around, you saw Scott, Lisa, Carly, and Shanna approach you. Once they got close, they engulfed you in a tight group hug. Groaning, you allowed them to smother you.
 “Goodness, you’re gorgeous!”
 “Thank you. I’m so glad you guys could come.”
 “Really, you’re family, of course we’d be here,” Carly expressed with a wide smile.
 You’d all grown up together in one way or the other, and you did feel like they were your sisters.
 “Your mother and I were making the rounds around the room, and I am amazed at what you’ve pulled off,” Lisa said.
 “It’s beautiful in here. I love it,” Shanna added.
 “Me too. It is so much better than I pictured,” you admitted.
 “You’re so modest. You knew you were going to slay this,” Scott teased. Throwing your arms around him again, you giggled, fully appreciating that he was there.
 Aamal approached your side with a wide smile. “Excuse me, I’m sorry to interrupt. I’ve been sent to find you. It’s time for your welcome address.”
 “Right. I’ll be right back guys.”
 With your arm looped with Aamal’s, she led you through the crowd of one hundred toward the spot you’d decided was the best for speeches of all kinds. As you passed friendly faces, you warmly smiled at them and mouthed your thanks for their attendance. When you looked back up, that was when you saw him in the back. Instantly, you felt butterflies in your belly. You didn’t know what kind they were, though. Fuck, you thought.
Tumblr media
Chris wore yet another great suit you knew he’d picked himself. You could always tell the difference between a CEvans outfit and a stylist put together one. You bit your bottom lip; you could feel it trembling. He gathered in along with the other guests but kept his eyes glued to you.
 “There you are beautiful.” The familiar deep voice beside you brought your attention from Chris. As you looked upon the smiling face of Jaxon standing before you, the butterflies intensified. Again, you had no idea what kind they were.
Tumblr media
“Hi yourself, handsome.” Jaxon lowered his lips to your forehead and wrapped his arm around your hip before he faced the guests.
 “Uh, first, Y/N, and I would like to thank you all for coming today to this shower. It means more than you all could ever know. Um, each of you have impacted us as a couple in some way or form, and we want to thank you for your friendship, advice, and support on the path to us getting here. Let’s raise a glass to each of you; you have our eternal gratitude. Here, here.”
 Everyone repeated the words before they took a sip from their glasses. Before anyone scurried off, Jaxon turned to you.
 “And to my beautiful, kind, loving, and immensely sexy fiancé, the day we met, I knew the second you shook my hand that you’d be my wife. I was always told that when a man knows he’s found the one, there would be no doubt in his mind, and I’m happy to attest to that being fact. You are my future, my destiny, and my home. I love you so much. Thank you for agreeing to become Mrs. Pierre.”
 Everyone around you awed and clapped. You tried not to feel self-conscious, but you couldn’t help it. Jaxon lowered his lips to yours, quickly setting the tone for the kiss as he delved his tongue into your mouth. You moaned, sensing his intent, but like always, you quickly got caught up in his kisses and kissed him with a fraction of the passion he kissed you. The cheers and yelps around you had you pulling away before Jaxon got any ideas.
 “Enjoy yourselves, everyone, eat, drink, party,” you exclaimed, hoping to douse the rising humidity in the room.
 One look at Chris in the back of the room, and you could see the storm on his face and recognized and knew it well.
He was pissed.
Whiplash: Ch. 4- Pretending
A/N: Hey guys! Thanks for all the love on the last part! I totally didnt realize there was no title or link to the previous part. I distinctly remember doing that... maybe Tumblr had a goof... Just a heads up that a fixed it and all that jazz.
Pt. 3
Pairing: Gwilym Lee! Brian Lee x Reader
Tumblr media
Donna left the end of that weekend grateful to have spent time with her sister. And you felt equally as grateful to have gotten some bonding time before the holidays rolled around.
You and Brian continued your charade until before long it was time to leave for your family’s house. There was a plethora of Christmases where you didn’t want to go back home for the holidays or even want to celebrate the ‘happiest time of the year’ at all. But this Christmas… this one took the fruitcake.
The night before you left you didn’t get a wink of sleep. You often chalked it up to the fact that your cat was not present (having been put in a kennel earlier that day) and the subsequent lack of him in your bed. But you knew deep down that it was because, this time, you would be coming home with a boyfriend. A fake one.
That seemed to scare you more than you thought it should. If they didn’t believe you or if they found out, you would NEVER be able to live it down. And then there was Brian.
He was too kind and sweet and caring and goofy to you. He treated you better than you deserved. Sometimes you didn’t think it was real. Brian was your best friend and you knew that you could always depend on him. If anything ever happened to jeopardize that, you didn’t know what you’d do.
The two of you left in the mid-morning on the 21st, Brian picking you up and getting breakfast along the way. It took a few hours but you got to your parents’ house by mid-afternoon. Even though you jammed to cassettes the whole way there, your nerves still wracked your body.
7 days at your parents’ house in the English country and 7 days at his. Two weeks. You could do two weeks.
Finally the two of you arrived at your family’s big country house, pulling up in front of the large property. Brian put the car in park and turned off the engine. He reached to unbuckle his seatbelt in the now silent car but you grabbed his wrist to stop him.
“Brian, we don’t have to do this,” you looked him right in the eye.
He coughed out a chuckle. “What?”
“We can turn around right now. I can just say I got sick,” you reached to turn the ignition but he shooed your hands away.
“We’ve come this far and you want to turn around?” Brian questioned. You nodded emphatically. “Oh, come on now. I’m ready and you’re ready.”
“No, Brian,” you let out a panicked breath. This was such a bad idea. You should have just been honest with them from the beginning. “I don’t think I can do this.”
“We’re basically at the front door,” he turned in his seat. “We can’t go back now.”
“Watch me,” you reached for the ignition again.
“Hey, hey, hey.” Brian grabbed your hand and held it. “We’re here. It’s going to be alright.”
You looked out the windows nervously for any sign that your parents or siblings had seen you arrive. “How can you be so sure?”
“I’m not.” Brian fiddled with your fingers and kissed the back of your hand, stirring up butterflies again. “But there’s only one way to find out.”
And with that, he unbuckled his seatbelt, opened his car door and went straight to the trunk, making sure that his keys were in his pocket. You jumped out after him. He was smart. Leaving the vehicle before you could object further…
He opened the latch and was beginning to take out the luggage. “Brian, I mean it. We can still leave. No one’s seen-”
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that.” His green-eyed gaze was fixed on the front door.
“Y/N’S HOME!!”
“Y/N’S HOME!!” Donna exclaimed, throwing the door open. Her voice echoed down the driveway. She was clad in a Christmas jumper that your mum had made for you, your brother, and your sister a few years back. Mum always insisted that you wear it for at least one day when you visited. As per her request, it was folded neatly at the bottom of your luggage.
“It’s too late,” you whispered to yourself. “If we regret this, it’s not my fault.”
“We’ll be okay,” Brian put an arm around you and you leaned lazily into the hug.
“Y/n! My baby!” That was mum. Although your mum was loud at times, you loved her a lot. Your mother hustled from the front door clad in a loudly patterned apron, which itself was covered in flour and sugar.
“This doesn’t seem too bad,” he mused to you.
You looked at him from the side of your eyes. “Oh, just you wait.”
You took Brian’s hand and moved to meet them in the middle. Your sister practically jumped on you and knocked you over when she gave you a hug; the two of you tumbled as you hit the ground in a burst of laughter. Brian and your mother both rushed to help the two of you up.
“Hey, Brian,” Donna gave him a friendly hug. “So did she drive you crazy on the way here?”
“Absolutely bonkers.” He teased. You scoffed and bumped him with your shoulder.
“Hi, mum.” You moved to embrace your mother and she pulled you into a bone crushing hug. She held you at arms length.
“I missed you so much.” She gushed. Her fingers moved to hold your face. You couldn’t help your smile.
“It’s only been like a month and a half.” You laughed at her emotions.
“That doesn’t mean I can’t miss my daughter!” Your mother exclaimed. “Of course your father misses you too! I tried to get him to take work off today to come greet you two but you know him!” Unfortunately, you did. She rubbed your arms soothingly, turning her attention to Brian. “Now... introduce me to this strapping young man!”
You rolled your eyes but, deep down, it was your stomach that was really rolling. “Mum, this is Brian, my boyfriend.” That word still felt weird.
“It’s lovely to meet you, Brian,” she said as he extended his hand for her to shake. Your mother brushed his hand aside and pulled him into a tight sweet hug. Brian took it with a chuckle. “You don’t need to be formal with me. If you’re good enough for Y/n, you’re more than good enough for me.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Y/l/n,” he replied politely. Brian put an arm around your shoulders for emphasis. You wrapped your arms around his waist.
“Please, call me ‘Y/m/n.’” She froze all of a sudden. “Wait a second… is this the Brian from university?!” Your mum turned to you.
“Yes,” you smiled at your mom, “that’s where we met.”
“Oh my heavens! I remember you talking about Brian!” Your mother excitedly recalled. Uh-oh…
You laughed nervously and feigned forgetfulness. “What? I don’t think I remember-”
“I do!” She insisted. “You were her best friend.”
“I’d like to think I still am,” Brian replied. “I’m honestly surprised she didn’t run for the hills the moment I opened my mouth.”
Your mother chuckled, “Nonsense! I can see why she said you were so charming. And I remember one time she called me and said that she thought she fancied-”
“OKAY MUM!” Donna cut her off. Brian gave you and her a confused look. Thank God for Donna… “Don’t we have something in the oven?”
“Oh, good heavens! You’re right! Donna will show you to your room.” She turned and ran back inside. “JAMES!” She screeched. “HELP YOUR SISTERS AND BRIAN WITH THE LUGGAGE!”
There was grumbling from inside the house and you steeled yourself for the arrival of your brother. You turned to face Brian quickly as the two of you went back to the car to grab your bags. “I apologize in advance for anything that he says.”
“I can handle it.” He assured you. “I’ve already heard snippets of his typical vocabulary. I’ll be okay.”
As if on cue your brother materialized in the doorway looking classy as ever in an old pair of denim trousers and a stained t-shirt. He tiredly hobbled over, giving Brian a strange look as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“You must be Brian,” James grumbled out. He looked him up and down suspiciously. “I see my sisters weren’t lying about you.”
“I am very much real. Were you expecting a bloke that looked like me? Perhaps less poodle-ish,” Brian called out, trying to lighten the mood up a little bit as he pulled another suitcase from the trunk.
Your brother hummed, unsatisfied, and finally looked at you. “You brought him.”
“Yeah, I wasn’t lying,” you said, cocking your head up proudly.
James hummed again, eyeing your, unbeknownst to him, fake boyfriend. Brian leaned against the car, having unloaded the last of the luggage, nodding a greeting at your brother.
“We’re definitely dating,” you urged. You stood next to Brian and he kissed the side of your head, while you stared down James.
James hummed a third time, oddly quiet. He glanced between you and Brian as if trying to see through the ruse. You were getting nervous.
“Yeah,” your brother stared right through you, “we’ll see about that.”
You, Brian, and Donna fidgeted nervously, not quite sure how to respond to what he said.
You cleared your throat and attempted to diffuse the tension. “Is this any way to greet your sister?”
He gave you a small smile that didn’t reach his eyes and a half-assed hug. Ah, yes, the depth of your brother’s affection…
Brian and James went to work grabbing the luggage wordlessly. You grabbed one of your bags and walked arm-in-arm with Donna. The two of you shared a look as you went inside and up the stairs.
“Here you go, lovebirds.” James half-tossed the luggage into his old room.
So this was where your mum had placed the two of you… It was the quietest and most isolated room in the house. Sitting above the garage, in the corner of the second floor, it was hard to disturb anyone with noise especially since the other two rooms on the floor were a decent distance away.
You wouldn’t have minded the space so much if the bed wasn’t a full-size and Bri wasn’t such a tall man.
“Are” you started, “we sharing?” You hadn’t prepared for this. You couldn't even look at Brian.
You hadn’t counted on this being a part of the deal. And, of course, neither had Brian. God… you should have asked! At the very least to prepare yourself… To prepare Brian. You felt a pit forming in your belly.
“Yep,” he responded. “Mum figured the two of you would want to stay in the same area during your stay.”
“She and dad were okay with that?”
James leaned against the doorway. Donna stood behind him sheepishly. She had left that part out conveniently during the phone calls. “Mum was insistent. Dad put up more of a fight. They agreed though eventually.”
You looked at him with your mouth ajar, much like a fish. “Oh.”
“Is that going to be an issue?” James looked you and your fake boyfriend in the eye, a challenge.
Brian jumped to action. “Not at all. Thank you, James.”
He gave a tight-lipped smile and walked away with his arms crossed. You waited to hear his footsteps go down the creaky stairs before tearing into Donna.
She lowered her voice with her arms outstretched in front of her. “Before you yell at me, I didn’t know how to tell you. There are ears everywhere.”
You pinched the bridge of your nose. “You couldn't have mentioned that? Like at all?”
“I’m sorry!” She whisper-yelled. “What would you have wanted me to do? Say that the two of you shouldn’t share a room? It’ll be easier to communicate with the both of you in the same space. Could you imagine being separate for a week while you try to pull this off?”
You supposed she was right. “No, no. You’re right.” You took a deep breath and changed your tone of voice so the rest of the house could hear you. “Thank you, Donna. I think we’re going to nap.”
She matched your tone. “Of course! I’ll let the two of you get settled in!” You mouthed a ‘thank you’ at her before she closed the door behind her and skipped away.
And then there were two.
“You’ve been awfully quiet, Br- What are you doing?”
Brian was setting up his luggage next to the loveseat in the room and had found the spare blankets from the closet. He was making a bed on the couch. If he thought he was taking the couch, you’d be damned.
“What does it look like I’m doing?”
“It looks like you’re making my bed, how kind of you! But really I’m the host so I must insist that you leave your accommodations to me, Mr. May.” You grabbed the spare pillow out of his hand and kicked his bag toward the bed. You began lugging your bag close to the couch. Brian stuck his foot out and stopped the bag.
“‘Your’ bed? I’m taking the couch.” He gently grabbed your bag and chucked it onto the bed. Your jaw dropped.
“No, Brian. I’m taking the couch. You’re too tall for it.” It was true. You could fit the couch much more comfortably than he could.
“Ah, but you see, as your boyfriend,” you rolled your eyes goodnaturedly, “I must be chivalrous and relinquish the bed to my beloved.”
“You’re being an ungrateful guest,” you countered.
He winced. “Low blow.”
“I’m not above it.” Brian snatched the pillow back and began rubbing his hair on it. “What on earth are you doing?”
“Staking my claim,” he answered, matter-of-factly. His hair was a static-y mess. As if to prove his point he tossed his body haphazardly onto the couch and sprawled out, limbs and all. “This is mine.”
“You act like you laying on top of something is going to deter me in any way.” You laughed at his logic. “Being on the couch does not mean it is suddenly uninhabitable.”
“It does.” He pointedly stretched his limbs out more. “Watch me.”
“This argument is going nowhere.”
“I agree. Which is why you should just let me take the couch.”
“What if we-”
A knock on the door sounded. Brian shot up and the two of you tossed the blankets and pillow haphazardly on the bed. You answered the door with Brian hovered closely behind you.
James. He had a smirk on his face. How much of the conversation had he heard?
“Yes?” you asked through gritted teeth.
“I don’t know if I mentioned it or not but I thought I’d be thorough and tell you that this room gets rather cold in the winters. The garage isn’t insulated and neither are the walls that this room shares with it.”
“Oh, really?”
“I mean, you’re already sharing a bed so that’ll help but you might want to grab some extra blankets on top of that. Perhaps a second bed’s worth.” He peeked in to see the mound of blankets on the bed. “But it looks like the two of you have already figured that out.”
You chuckled dryly. “Yep. Thanks for the pointer.”
James hummed a laugh. “Anytime.” And like the asshole he was he sauntered away humming a Bob Dylan song. You pushed the door closed and rested your forehead on it.
“We could switch nights?” You offered. Brian knew you better than that; of all the sensations that you hated (fatigue, hunger, headache, etc.) being cold was what you loathed the most.
“Or we could just share the bed like they suspect us to…” He suggested. You looked at him. He didn’t seem to be pulling your leg.
“You wouldn’t be uncomfortable with that?” Your fingers picked at the ends of your hair.
Brian had his hands on his hips. “Not at all. Unless you would be.”
You looked him in the eye and then to the floor, your arms crossed. “I’m fine with it.”
“I guess we’ll share it then,” he affirmed.
“Yep.” You popped the ‘p.’
The two of you looked at the surrounding room and its four walls. The couch. The bed. The windows. Anywhere but each other. This was real. All the time you had pretended to be dating before you got to your parents house suddenly felt like dress rehearsals. This. This was real. And things were different.
This was showtime.
“Well, then,” Brian filled the silence. “Now that it’s settled why don’t we set up the room? We did tell them we were taking a nap. We can get settled a little bit.”
You nodded.
“I’ll do the bed if you do the closet?”
You nodded wordlessly again and took a deep breath before kicking off your shoes and opening the closet. You heard Brian take off his coat and toss it onto the couch. You set yours on top of his and reminded yourself to put in the coat closet downstairs by the front door.
As promised you began hanging some of your items and with Brian’s permission began helping him with his. The bathroom that was conjoined to the room soon had your various shampoo, tooth brushes, and regular hair brushes strewn across the counter top and among the shelves in the shower.
Amongst the thoughts of how absolutely spoiled rotten James had been up here while you and your sister had to share a smaller room was another more alarming notion. As you put yours and Brian’s shoes down on the floor of the closet and split the drawers between the two of you your mind drifted to the small part of it that realized how naturally it looked, how naturally it felt to have the items in the same space. To have Brian’s giant shoes next to yours. To have his various hair brushes that resembled Medieval torture devices right next to your own weapons of choice. To dance and bustle about a small space in a rhythm so natural that an onlooker would swear it was rehearsed.
“You’ve been awfully pensive,” Brian snapped you out of your stupor as you pulled a dress of yours onto a hangar and set it on your side of the closet trying to move in such a way that maybe you’d forget your hands were shaking and maybe Brian wouldn’t notice your hands shaking. “Penny for your thoughts?”
“I…” you took a breath. You didn’t really know what to say. Instead you just turned and let yourself fall onto the couch back first and stared up at the blank ceiling. “This is really happening.”
“Hey.” Brian appeared into view as we walked to you and looked down. “Are you alright?”
You finally made eye contact with Brian and shook your head. Trying to will your tears back into your ducts with the help of good old-fashioned gravity you stared back up at the ceiling again.
Brian rushed to crouch at your side. “Woah, woah, woah. I didn’t mean to make you cry.”
You turned to face him and sat up so that he could sit next to you on the couch. “No, it wasn’t you. I’m just overwhelmed. I still can’t believe I’m in this mess. That my family sees so much of my value in my relationships and not me. That it went this far. That I actually care so much about what they think even though I shouldn’t. That I dragged you into this.”
Brian hummed in understanding and pulled you into a hug. “Well, first of all, you didn’t drag me into this. I body slammed myself into this. You didn’t even really need to ask me to help you; if anything I dragged you into this. Remember our little moment on the driveway?”
Yes… How infuriatingly encouraging he had been. How embarrassingly frantic you had behaved. He was right. Brian was unfailingly loyal to you. If he hadn’t backed down then, when you had offered him a way out.
“You know you’re earning your ‘poodle’ title more and more,” you commented.
Brian cocked his head. “How so?”
“Lanky, tall, high-maintenance-”
“Feeling the love. Thank you.”
“But still an excellent companion and unbelievably sweet.”
Brian gave you a soft smile and rubbed his arm up and down your back. “If I was a humbler person I might tell you to stop.”
“Oh I’m stopping,” you said, sniffling back your tears and exhaling the panic. “If your head gets any more full of hot air, your hair is going to start defying the laws of physics without any assistance.”
“Yeah, you’re feeling better,” Brian quipped, feigning offense.
“I’m sorry… which one of us brought more brushes and styling products?”
“I want to make a good first impression! I may be a fake boyfriend but I still want your family to like me.” He defended.
“You’ll be great! Aside from James, you’d have to do something really out of character to get them to not like you.”
“Not this ‘be yourself’ stuff again,” Brian complained and threw his head back to rest on the back of the couch.
“It’s true. They’ll love you!” You encouraged him.
Brian’s face took on that infamous cheeky expression. Uh-oh… “Is it because I’m… so charming?”
Your face flushed in remembrance of what your mother had almost let slip. You leaned forward and covered your face with your hand. “Why did I know you were going to bring that up?”
“Because you know me better than anyone else.” He replied, matter-of-factly.
“I think your mum might contend with me on that, Bri,” you offered.
“And I knew you were going to say that.” Brian shrugged in consideration. “Fine. You and my mum know me better than anyone else.”
“Well,” you set your hand on his knee. A once platonic gesture, it felt different this time. You continued, hurrying your way through what you were going to say so that it wouldn’t be as awkward when you stopped touching, “since we know each other so well, I’d say we stock up on rest while we can.”
“You talk like we’re going to be running a marathon for the next week.”
“Trust me, Bri,” you responded, standing up and laying down comfortably on the bed. “You’re gonna need it.”
Brian looked at you in disbelief. “Oh please. I’ve dealt with concerts for years. How bad can it be?!”
Apple picking <3
Prompt came from a special someone on here! <3
Tumblr media
Axel watched as you walked alongside Oscar, hands barely touching as he leaned closer to whisper in your ear, the wind blowing your hair softly off your shoulders. It was cold today, but you insisted on coming here, saying they would enjoy it.
One thing was sure above all else; every man you had passed by with Oscar turned, looking at your attire and reminding Axel just how much you stuck out, your radiance shining through. The eldest Swede looked behind him, and met Otto’s gaze, his brother’s cheeks turning red as he quickly looked away, embarrassed of the fact he had just been caught staring at your behind from afar, hands digging deeper in his coat pockets.
Axel chuckled at Otto’s embarrassment, and continued to  follow you up the hill, smiling as he was greeted with another wonderful view, apart from your cute behind.
It was beautiful, the green and yellow leaves of the trees rustling in the wind, apples shining upon branches, ready to be picked. Ladders were stationed under some trees, allowing children or shorter people to reach the highest peaks of the trees.
They were already quite short for Apple trees, but Axel figured he would keep his mouth shut as he watched you jump up and down, excitement showing on your lovely visage.
“Oh my god, its been so long since Ive come here, thank you guys!” You exclaimed as you jumped into Oscar’s open arms, their younger brother laughing as he tried to hold the Orchard bag in his hand before quickly pushing you towards the trees to start.
Otto walked up beside his eldest brother, silent as they both watched you and Oscar run, criss-crossing between the trees and laughing, peoples gaze following the both of you.
Axel didn’t know what he found funnier, Otto’s visible brooding at their brothers antics with you, or the way Oscar kept smirking their way, trying to get a rise out of the taller man.
“Are you guys coming?” You called from between trees, your voice a sweet melody as Axel smiled, nudging Otto to come along.
He held an apple in his hand, looking it over for any imperfection before putting it in the bag at his feet.
He supposed it could be much worse as he heard you speak to Axel about the different types of apples in the Orchard, instead of asking him where Oscar had gone.
Otto sighed again for what felt like the 100th time, reaching for other apple-
“Y/N needs help.” Oscar said beside him, making Otto jump out of his skin.
Oscar squinted, confused at his brother’s surprise but figured he would let it lie for now, repeating himself instead.
“Otto, Y/N needs help.”
His brother simply sighed, resuming his search for another perfect apple without casting him another glance.
“Why don’t you go help her then?” Otto said, annoyed at how cold he sounded towards his brother, regretting his tone-
Oscar’s shit-eating grin made Otto realize he now didn’t regret his tone, frowning down at him.
“She asked me to come find you to help her.” Oscar replied casually, glancing over his shoulder to where Otto assumed you were waiting for him...
“Is this another of your pranks Oscar?” He said as he turned fully towards his brother, accepting the empty bag his brother passed him, watching as Oscar backed up slowly.
Empty? You hadn’t picked any apples in the last hour that you had been with Oscar?
“On her heart.” Oscar replied with seriousness before turning and walking away, most likely to join Axel. Otto tried to reflect on Oscar’s strange demeanor but stopped, hearing the faint sound of your voice, your tone seeming... panicked.
It didn’t take long for Otto to find what was wrong as he weaved through the trees, following the sound of your voice before finally catching sight of...  the sight almost made him growl.
A man stood before you, arm in the air against a branch as he seemed to be speaking to you, inching closer with every second.
“You look absolutely divine madam!” The man either didn’t care or didn’t notice your discomfort of his proximity as he kept leaning closer, a lecherous grin on his lips.
“I would simply be delighted to help you pick those apples up there... All I ask is for you to sit on my shoulders and let me pleasure yo-“
He didn’t have time to finish his phrase as Otto pulled him back roughly and away from you, eyes wide as he looked up at the Scandinavian man.
Words failed him as he freed himself of Otto’s hold, running away like a coward.
“Otto- thank you so much, he- god.” You whispered, Otto’s eyes following your movements as you tried to replace your disheveled shirt, his eyebrows furrowing as he noticed how it practically hung off your shoulder.
He had touched you. That bastard had touched you inappropriately, that's what he had heard before, the panic in your voice.
Otto wondered for a moment if it was the sweet scent of the Apple trees in the wind, or yours that pulled him in, caging you against the tree trunk just as the man had moments ago, the soft noise that escaped your lips making him grow bolder.
“He touched you?” He asked lowly, voice deep as his eyes bore into yours, analyzing each minor change in your posture and features, loving the way you started to bite your lip-
“Yes.” You whispered back, entranced by Otto’s sudden dominant demeanor, his wide frame most likely hiding you from any possible  wandering eyes.
“Where?” Otto said, watching as your hands slowly rose from the tree trunk and pulled your shirt collar down, revealing your collarbone and soft skin.
He felt a shuddering breath escape him as he looked at your exposed skin, telling himself he shouldn’t be this affected by a simple patch of skin.. but no, it was your skin, your collarbone exposed to him, your body pressed against the tree, caged by his arms and form, the forgotten Orchards bags around the both of you. Were you staying here, caged by his body out of politeness? Because he was Oscar’s brother, and you, his brother’s friend?
Too often had he wondered what your skin would feel like under his fingers, too often did he wake up in the morning, the feeling of your ghostly fingers against his own skin, remnants of his dirty dreams haunting him during the days.
Blue-gray eyes rose back to your own, surprised at the hardly concealed blush on your cheeks, watching him like a hawk would its prey, waiting.
His hand lifted, thumb running gently against your collarbone, his greedy eyes taking in how you bite your inner cheek, trying to seem unaffected but failing, just like he was, fingertips coming to rest on your naked shoulder. They rose softly, trailing against the strap of your bra, making their way up your neck with a reverent touch, careful but present, finally reaching your jaw.
Otto watched you swallow as his thumb grazed your bottom lip, eyes flickering between your lovely lips and your eyes, waiting.
“He tried to kiss me..” you whispered into the air, leaves rustling around you as Otto inhaled, seeming to grow larger as he leaned in more, towering over your form.
Otto tried not to think back at the man’s words, who had been trying to do much more then just kiss you, from the sound of it. He wondered if you would have accepted, had the man been someone else, maybe Oscar, or Axel.
Would you let them push you up a tree trunk and have their way with you, for any wandering eye to see? Would you let them place you upon a branch and pull your legs apart, pleasuring you with their tongues?
He tried not to think about it, told himself he was winning the fight in his mind until he felt himself lean down, watching with adoration how your eyes closed, leaning up to meet his rough lips in a chaste touch.
This close, Otto could hear your breathing, ragged and short, coming out in puffs against his lips. He leaned down again, this time with a bit more force, kissing you fully. The way your arms wound around his neck was divine, pulling him closer to you, closer to your body.
He was almost devastated as you pulled away, away from his lips, looking up at him with mirth.
“He touched between my thighs as well...” you whispered, your gaze sultry and naughty, and it finally dawned on Otto what you were doing now, your dirty words striking him with  lust.
You were giving him reasons to touch you, little white lies as to where the man had touched so that he would touch you there.
Otto smirked as he pulled your arms away from his neck, and held your hands softly in his, bringing them to his lips to kiss your knuckles.
“Are you sure?” He simply whispered, your wide grin too telling as you continued to hold his hands.
“Well? Did you find some good apples, you two?” Axel said outloud as he approached, walking unusually slower then his usual gait. Otto smiled, and helped you stand better, watching you as you held a firm grip on one of his hands, your other reaching down for the Orchard bag he had discarded.
“I found something else instead!” You called back with pride, looking up at Otto with joy.
Axel hummed and chuckled, the sound choking in his throat abruptly as Oscar pushed past him, eager to see if his plan had worked.
“Oscar...” Axel threatened, pointing at the younger sibling who only smirked, kicking a poor apple that laid on the ground at him before running away.
My Kagome Art
Tumblr media
Kagome frowns at her reflection, annoyed, and a bit angry for a few reasons: one being she has to dress feminine which she doesn't normally do. She’s tried being feminine, it just doesn't work. Her hair always sticks out on all sides no matter how she fixes it. She can't walk in heels even if her life depended on it. She prefers wearing straight-cut jeans, tennis shoes, and hoodies.The only reason why she’s kept her hair long all this time is because her stupid parents and stupid best friend Inuyasha told her not to cut it because she’d look “funny”.
Snorting at her reflection she plucks at a fly-away hair. Tugging at the dress she was wearing, feeling completely out of her element in the 3-inch heels she absolutely refused to wear the stockings her mother had provided. Glancing over to where they lay on the dresser she sneered at them.
The only reason why Kagome is wearing this ridiculous outfit today is because she is being forced by her parents for the occasion. Which brings her to the other reason why she is so put out right now...her stupid brother Sesshomaru.
The brother who she hardly knew besides a few old rusty memories. She remembers her being pushed high in the swings when she was younger, her older brother gathering his full force to send her flying into the sky with her hair dancing in her face, laughing uncontrollably, and his small smile behind her.
 It has been ten years since she has seen him. They used to be close when she was little, but now he was practically a stranger to her. He moved out of the house when he turned 18 she was just a child at the age of 10 then. When he left it was like he had cut all ties, the memories she had she packed away never to look back on again. When he left it hurt, she had missed him at one point but now it was like she was an only child honestly sometimes she forgot that she wasn’t an only child.
 He moved into a big bustling city for university leaving behind his old home in the rural countryside. When he had finished school he stayed in the city to attend law school snagging a top-shot position at some big firm. After that, he was nowhere to be seen except for the occasional holiday and those were rare, she could count on one hand the times she had seen him since he moved out.
His lavish life with High society, big fancy events, and other vain things he never bothered keeping in touch with her. Her brows knit together as a frown further marred her face at the thought of how he probably thought he was too good for the life he left behind.
What’s worse is that even when he did decide to grace his old home with his presence, he hardly acknowledged her. The only thing he would do was greet her shortly by saying her name as he walked by.
Had he always been so stoic?
His demeanor put her off, he felt so cold, callous, and uncaring. It was so different from the brother of her memories. It was like he was a completely different person.
How did he make it through life with that kind of personality?
“Stupid brother” She muttered to herself.
A knock on her door brought her out of her bitter thoughts. She turned towards  it and sighed
“Kagome, hurry up! Everyone is waiting! What’s taking so long?” Her mom scolds from behind the door.
“Yea, yea I’m almost done” Kagome grumbles
She hears the muffled sigh before her mom adds  “Don't even think about coming down with an attitude either.”
 ‘Hmph’ Kagome thinks to herself as she crosses her arms indignantly. Knowing herself as she did, she didn't know if she could really make it through this night without showing a bit of ‘attitude’. She was supposed to get all dolled up to see her brother who really just seemed like some extended family member that no one really knew or cared about.
Kagome walks out the door stumbling slightly, catching herself on the doorway. She curses under her breath. Taking a moment to steady herself she makes it to the stairs. ‘Maybe I should just take these damn shoes off until I get to the bottom’ She thinks as she looks apprehensively down the stairs. Her mothers face appears at the bottom with an impatient scowl. Clutching to the railing of the stairs as if it's a life line she cautiously makes her way down taking hesitant steps down the stairs. As she gets closer to the floor, she can hear warm laughter coming from the living room.
As soon as she reaches the bottom of the stairs her breath hitches in her throat. The man she sees sitting on the couch looks nothing like that young man who came to visit on rare occasions. He was dressed in a black suit with a red tie that stood out in a stark contrast against  the silver of his hair that was inherited from their father. She thought it was odd that her parents were okay with his hair being at such a long length when they would nitpick at her and judge her appearance and choices as harshly as they did.
She’d never seen a man with hair that length in the countryside they grew up in. What stood out most of all and completely took her breath away was his eyes. In her earliest memories of him she remembered them being a hazel color bordering on yellow but now as she looked at them she could see that the yellow they bordered on was now a bright golden color.
 Those golden eyes blinked as he caught sight of her standing in the living room. She couldn’t read his eyes, but they made her forget about her nerves .She felt herself become enslaved by those eyes and for some reason, she couldn’t look away. She didn’t notice how the reason she was able to see those golden eyes so clearly was because he was also gazing at her with just as much intent.
She’d lost track of how long she stood there staring at her brother until her father cleared his throat and their mother coughed, dragging her away from the trance that held them both captive.
“Kagome! What are you doing just standing there! Come, greet your brother!” Her dad scolds from where he is sitting on the couch next to her mother.
Kagome jolts into action feeling her face heat up a bit in her embarrassment. She carefully makes her way over to where her brother is. She felt like she was walking on ice and at any moment she would lose her balance and come crashing down on the floor. Standing in front of him she finds herself feeling nervous now being in close and direct sight to the brother she hadn't seen properly in so long. Her heart beats erratically against her chest.
 Finally standing in front of him she can’t help but notice how he towers above her. Now, she hadn't remembered him being that tall.Through the tightness of the white shirt under his suit jacket she can see that it accents the muscles hidden there. She definitely didn’t remember those being there!
Her thoughts are whirling around and her mind can’t seem to catch up with the present and as a result she stutters “ Ses-Sesshomaru.” which is completely unlike her.
‘What’s going on with you?’ She wonders to herself. She wasn’t one to cower like this, to display weaknesses so openly.
‘This guy is nothing to you besides someone you share blood with.’ Kagome scolds herself.
“Kagome, it's a pleasure to finally see you again.” He says.
Those golden eyes seem to brighten, holding her prisoner once more in place as he gently takes her hand in his and raises it to his lips placing a soft and fleeting kiss there. It feels like an out of body experience she has no control over the moment once his lips meet her skin she feels her blood run hot and she can feel the blush rising from her neck to her face.
 She wonders what he is thinking at that moment as those eyes seem to smile at her but she can't read him, she can't tell what’s going on in his mind. His face remains a stoic mask as he regards her. She feels like he is laughing at her but she can’t be sure as unnamed emotions flash through those intense eyes of his.
“I love how we’re finally together as a family again. Let's head over to the kitchen. The food is ready, we have important things to talk about” Her mother beams, not noticing the strange interaction between the two.
“After you” Sesshoumaru gestures in front of her with a flourish of his hands.
Kagome nods with a tight smile, her footsteps heavy and awkward as she walks ahead of him. She didn't know what would await her tonight, and she wasn’t entirely sure she was ready for it. Not knowing what was so important that her family would get together like this made her wonder if it was good or bad.
 It made her feel like a bird trapped in a cage ready and vulnerable to an attack. It made her think of that nursery rhyme she had been teased with all her life. ‘Kagome, Kagome bird in a cage.’ She flinched internally as it popped into her mind.
‘Fuck that’ she thought.
She tries to distract herself from her anxiety of what was to come from this dinner by thinking about her brother. She didn't know what to make of him, he seemed polite and well-mannered. That was good right? There was still something about him that made her feel like maybe he was a predator waiting outside of her cage tonight. She tried to shake those thoughts away, maybe she was being paranoid about the whole thing. Maybe this really was going to be a nice, warm family dinner after all.
Her parents sat across from each other in their usual spots, Kagome took her seat beside her father, leaving the chair directly in front of her for Sesshomaru. Her parents happily chatted, recounting old memories that were almost lost to Kagome. Sometimes people needed other people to remember for them so the memory wouldn’t be lost forever.
“I remember how Kagome would get bullied by the neighborhood kids for being such a tom-boy, and for the boyish way she dressed.” Her mother recounted her memory of the day when she sent Kagome out of the house to school in an adorable and girly outfit that she deemed ‘appropriate’ only for Kagome to sneak out of the house with a pair of her brother's old pants and a tee shirt that she had changed into. On the way home one of the neighborhood boys had pushed her to the ground while telling her that she was a girl and that she would never be allowed to play with him and the other boys.
“Sesshoumaru would have none of it. He would step in front of Kagome and just glare at them and that was enough to have them running for the hills,” Her mother looked across the table over to Kagome sighing in defeat. “Ever since she was little our Kagome was always a little strange.” She finished her memory shaking her head and chuckling.
That comment had Kagome’s mood sour as her face pinched in annoyance. She didn't like her parents making such comments right in front of her as if she wasn’t there. She knew she was a little different than other girls her age, but that didn’t mean that it didn’t sting being called strange by her own parents.
Yes, she was unconventional to say the least. She started to wear the boys uniform when she reached middle school. She didn't like the way the girl's uniform looked on her; it made her feel awkward. It exposed her legs to the point it made her uncomfortable. She preferred the boys uniform, it didn’t show anywhere near as much skin and made her feel more comfortable.
“ What’s your point?” Kagome snapped as her mood darkened. Leaning back in her seat and crossing her arms. She gave her mother a taunting smile silently daring her to continue making her feel as if she wasn’t there.
“ Nothing, nothing honey we’re simply making conversation, anyway speaking of that we have an announcement-” her mother tries to continue on.
“No, No let’s keep having that conversation” Kagome leans back to the table steeling herself ready to fight. She knew how this conversation went. They went through this all the damn time. If her mother didn’t want her to have an attitude she certainly was not picking peaceful conversations for dinner. It was like she was provoking her instead.
 “Am I strange because I wear jeans instead of skirts? Because I wear hoodies? Because I like sports? Because I listen to Lady Gaga? Or is it because I kiss girls”
The room goes silent. Kagome knows she has done exactly what her mother told her not to do. She had an attitude. Well more than that, she’s probably ruined the whole dinner. She really needed to do something about that mouth of hers, it got her in trouble far too much.
“It seems that she’s learned to fend herself just fine without me” Sesshoumaru speaks up after what feels like a long time. Kagome is not sure if her eyes are playing tricks on her but she sees his eyes glimmer .
 “Kagome, honey, speaking of that we have something to announce” Her mother clears her throat.
Kagome raises an eyebrow, curious at what the announcement was. It had to be something important or else why else had they invited her brother and made it a family affairThere had to be a reason why her parents decided to host this dinner and invite this “brother” of hers and play the role of the happy family for once. Her mind is temporarily distracted from the argument her mother had provoked. She’s curious to hear what the big announcement is supposed to be.
 Suddenly that feeling of apprehension and unpleasantness returns to her like an uncomfortable chill creeping up her body.
Kagome begins to understand what this night is really about when the doublespeak begins as soon as her mother begins talking.
As Kagome listens to the excuses being told,she begins to translate the doublespeak in her head.
"We were talking to Sesshomaru a few days ago about how you’ve struggled with your teachers and school and you haven’t made the best choices”
Translation: She has failed to meet demands, she’s insubordinate, a failure, and her choice of friends suck.
“So because of this we think it might be best for you to move in with your brother for some time. It might help put things into perspective for you on how one should behave while also giving you the time and space you need to learn who you are, as well as what it expected of you."
Translation: We think dumping you off to your brother who’s practically a stranger to you might teach you to grow up. Learning from the successful sibling will help you become less of a failure.
“We’re afraid you have irrational tendencies, you don’t consider how your actions make others feel and you need to know what’s expected of you”
Translation: She’s showed some bisexual tendencies, which we find  deeply shameful and she needs to be straightened out.
“Living in the city will be better for you than the countryside. We don’t think you’ll flourish here, moving to the city could be a  better option for you.”
Translation: We’re sick of having you here, we’re kicking you out
“ We want the best for you, and this means we can't put this off any longer,” her mother continues and Kagome can feel the air getting thinner as she breathed.
Translation: Get the fuck out of here!
Kagome feels as if she has been kicked in the stomach. The air leaves her, brain momentarily shutting down, and she feels dizzy. Eyes darting back from her father to her mother looking for confirmation of what was just said. As silence drags on, she becomes more angry at the affirmation of the reality she doesn’t want to face. Kagome stands slamming her hands on the table knocking over the chair.
The chair hits the floor with a crash.
“Are you serious?” She screams, noticing how her father and Sesshomaru flinch at the tone in her voice. She doesn’t care about their reactions, she has had it with this so-called family. This family that pushed all these decisions on her and gave her no choices of her own.
Kagome’s voice booms across the room. “So you’re telling me I have to move in with my 'brother', That's a stranger to me because I’ve failed to meet your expectations!”
“ Honey you know it's not that” Her father finally speaks up after what feels like a long time. Kagome had almost forgotten about his presence. He’s only smiled passively the whole night not saying anything of much substance besides the usual affirmation. He almost blends into the walls with his passivity and lack of presence.
“ Yes it is! What choice do I have? You just decided that once I’m 18 and you have no legal obligation to me anymore you’d ship me off to this man I don’t know! It's either go with him or go to the streets right?!” Kagome tries to laugh tauntingly to cover up for the tears of anger that were on the verge of rippling and falling down her face.
“Kagome, I know this might seem hard but-” Sesshoumaru says as he carefully stands up. He really was trying his best to keep up this proper brother act wasn’t he?!
Kagome forgets the previous nerves she felt being near her brother and she feels anger pour out of her. So she was right to be apprehensive of him. He didn’t come here without any kind motives. He came here to trick her with his fake politeness and fancy appearance to drag her out of the only home she ever knew!
“No you shut up!” Kagome turns to Sesshoumaru and scowls. She points to him angrily “ I don't want to hear anything from someone who I’ m supposed to call my brother, but who I’ve hardly seen in 10 years and who only graces me with his presence to take me away from my home!”
“Kagome” Her father tries to chime in.  He moves his hands in a downward motion to try to calm the situation and Kagome.
 “IT’S BEEN DAMN NEAR 10 YEARS since he has really been around and you're telling me that you have just decided  yourselves that I Should just go on and get out of the only home I have known just because I don’t follow the social norms that you expect of me? Are you kidding me?!?” She interrupts.They have said enough it's time for them to hear her now. If there’s one thing she didn’t know how to do was going down without a fight.
“We just want what is best for you Kagome. It doesn’t matter anyway things have been set up and you don’t really have a choice in this.You have an awful attitude, you are ungrateful and it seems like you are going to need to learn to grow up the hard way. You can go with Sesshomaru or not either way you will not be staying here.” When their mother finishes her new rant, shock plays across Kagome’s face with intense anger.
Kagome feels the tears begin to stream down on her face.She looks at her parents faces and sees their faces full of resigned conviction. She looks at Sesshoumaru’s face and she isn't sure if it’s her eyes playing tricks on her, but she sees his eyes look deeply troubled and almost guilty. Against her will she feels herself once again drawn into those golden eyes. She feels as if there’s something more hidden under the depths of the gold in his eyes. As if there’s a mask falling off.
“Kagome” He opens his mouth to speak but it is too late Kagome has already stormed out of the room.She kicks off the heels she is wearing and dashes out of the front door. She didn’t want to look into those eyes any longer, she was afraid she’d find something she wasn’t ready to see. What she needed to do was get away and be angry.
Yes, she needed to be angry at the world, angry at him .Sesshoumaru she thinks in disdain. He probably didn’t even feel bad for being the one to drag her out of her home under the guise of a caring older brother. He probably only felt bad since now he was the one taking on this burden of a sister!
Yes he was just an Idiot brother! She ran faster as she used the adrenaline of her speed and anger to fuel her. She felt she was bordering on insanity as she smiled through the tears as she pushed her body harder.
She didn't know for how long she had been running laps around the neighborhood before she stopped in front of the large maple tree in the middle of town.
 She heaves and uses the last bit of her energy to jog near the swings, She collapses on the ground and against her will begins to remember the swings that hold the one memory of her  idiot brother that she remembers fondly. She stares up at the sky occasionally wiping away a tear of anger from her face. The moon is waning tonight it's crescent shape shining brightly in the night sky.
It's not long before Kagome notices that she is no longer alone as she looks to her left and spots the clean, pristine shoes of her brother, She looks up and  sees the bright golden eyes of her brother almost looking like they are expecting her, “What do you want?” She hisses. Of course the one time he does come around all of her choices are being taken from her and her parents hold a celebratory dinner to kick her out of the house. Now he probably wanted to play the concerned brother. Idiot.
“Kagome,” His voice comes out smooth like velvet to her ears and she suppresses the shiver that wants to travel down her spine.She reminds herself that she should be angry at him.
Now of all times he wanted to play the role of the caring brother who wants to check up on his little sister? It was rather ironic coming from the man who only showed up to trick her and side with those who saw her as nothing more than a burden.
“No, you know what. I don’t care what you want. Save the good brother act. I know you don’t give a fuck about me or what I want.” Kagome swears venom his way.
“ All you came here to do was trick me and do what they wanted which was to drag me away from my home. Which lets be honest you probably don't even want to do since you see me as a burden like everyone else does” her voice begins to break  down. Shit why was she beginning to cry again?!
 At this point she feels the tears gliding down her face at an increasing speed. She feels like an idiot, turning into a sobbing mess in front of this brother she hardly knew.
“ Kagome, you must know that wasn’t my intention-”
“Oh yea then what was it then? To waltz in here, charm me, play the good brother who didn't leave and ignore me all this time then laugh at me as you kick me out of my home?”
She watches him through glassy eyes. He stands with his hands awkwardly in his pants seemingly unsure of what to do. She looks into his golden eyes and for a brief moment she thinks she sees that conflicted Sesshoumaru from before. But it was gone before she could confirm it.
“ Fine, don’t believe me, do what you want, I am simply following our parents wishes.I am leaving tomorrow morning, make up your mind by then” He waves dismissively and walks off.
Kagome watches as he began to walk away. She sits up and watches his soulette in confusion at how his mood changed so easily. Did she imagine that look of conflict earlier? It almost reminded her of that look on his face he got as children when he worried about her, back when he used to care for her.
“Hmph” Kagome grumbled, that couldn’t be the case. She saw what he did back there. Tried to charm her, make her lose her composure, appear all polite and kind, then backstab her along with their parents and kick her out of her house! Then he comes to act worried about her, then acts like he doesnt care and acts like she has any choice in the matter! He’s just messing with her!
He’s wicked! Kagome says to herself. She almost felt like she was Bell from Beauty and the Beast. Dragged out of her home, against her will, to live with what might as well be a beast!
Yes, because Sesshoumaru was like a beast! She told herself. He didn’t look like one with his poltie appearance, pristine manners, fancy clothes, and beautiful face. Beautiful face? She exclaimed?! Why was she thinking this about her brother?!?
She slaps her face with both hands in an attempt to calm herself. She was probably still high from the adrenaline rush of the run. She had a bad habit of looking for highs to ironically calm herself. Running, sex, drugs,  you name it. She really needed to calm down and get a grip.
Within a night, her brother was able to do what no one else could do: trick her and humiliate her. She really didn’t want to give him any more satisfaction that he got to her more than he already had. He’s seen her cry for shit’s sake.
“Focus kagome” She sighed and took a deep breath as she looked up at the stars in an attempt to calm herself.
It seems like she was in a stalemate situation. Her parents wern’t going to budge, stupid Sesshoumaru was just in it to do their parents bidding and she was trapped in this situation. He said she had to decide what she wanted to do by morning. Was he mocking her, because she really had no choice in this!
Suddenly a realization comes to Kagome’s mind. She can’t go against the decision made by her parents, but she could act like she agreed to go with Sesshoumaru. That way she could tell people she left on her own accord and she wouldn’t have to give her parents nor Sesshoumaru the satisfaction of knowing they dragged her out of her home! She may have to live with a beast, but she wasn’t going down without a fight! She’d do what they wanted her to do, she’d go live in the city, she’d go to university there, she’d work at the firm, but she'd do it all to spite them!
“Watch out Sesshoumaru,” Kagome says to herself, smiling, full of conviction. She knew what she was going to do.
Title: A Very Peaky Christmas
Summary: What’s worse than being sick? Being sick on Christmas Day. Fortunately, the Shelbys are renowned for cheering up the baby of their family.
Words: 2381
Tommy had an internal alarm clock on Christmas morning. He didn’t even think it was purposeful, but years of being jumped on and startled awake as soon as the sun began to rise, with screams of “it’s Christmas! It’s Christmas!” ringing in his ears must have had something to do with it.
Now, he always managed to wake up approximately ten minutes before he was ambushed, just so he was able to mentally prepare himself for what was inevitably going to come.
And this Christmas was no different. Nineteen-twenty. A house with two children aged eleven and ten. Not ideal for a man who’d barely returned from the war and hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in over four years. Thankfully, the eleven-year-old had enough sense to jump on Arthur instead, who didn’t seem to mind as he was always just as excited for the holiday as the kids. The ten-year-old, however... well. Tommy was most definitely the favourite sibling, there.
Despite his mental preparing, he was quite surprised when the pitter-patter of little feet entering his room and readying to leap weren’t heard, even after fifteen minutes of lying awake, staring up at the ceiling, willing his eyes not to close from utter exhaustion. Of course, he wouldn’t be so puzzled if it were any other instance, but this was his sister. And it was Christmas morning. And he was worried.
So, with a groan as his tired limbs protested to the movement, he slowly sat up and swung his legs around, flinching when the coldness of the wooden floor seeped through his socks. He heaved himself up to his feet and grabbed the woollen blanket at the end of his bed, uncharacteristically sniffing and wrapping it around himself. It was way too early for him, but for his sister, he was quite sure it was way too late.
Thankfully, the intended room was only next door, so it didn’t take him long to walk out of his own room and shuffle towards the other. He could see the flickering candlelight under Arthur’s door, and the hushed talk his ears picked up signified that Finn had already made his attack and the two brothers were waiting for everyone else to wake up so they could all trek down to the living room together to meet with the rest of the family and open the presents.
Quietly, he pulled the handle down and gently pushed the door open, peeking his head in just enough to see a small dark lump under the bed. He rose an eyebrow. So… the monster still slept.
He walked into the room, clutching the blanket around his shoulders, and softly walked towards the bed. Once he was close enough, he reached out and leaned over a little to peer further. A frown creased his forehead and his eyes narrowed the moment they caught sight of the look on your face. It was scrunched terribly together, and your hands were tightly clutching the blankets, so, with a little flutter of concern in his heart, he sat himself down on the side of the bed and placed a hand on your shoulder, shaking it a little. “Y/N? Sweetheart?” he gently called out. A second later he was greeted by an exhausted face with drooping eyes and a forehead sheening with sweat. Concern immediately filled him and he shifted, dropping his hands and consequently the blanket in favour of leaning over to look closer at you. “Hey, hey, hey,” he said quietly. “Are you okay?”
You groaned pitifully. “Feel sick,” you mumbled, lifting your arms in clear askance. He had no trouble complying and swiftly set about picking you up and cradling you on his lap. His hand rested on your forehead as you snuggled up against his chest, and he frowned at the heat radiating from your skin.
“You’ve got a little fever,” he told you.
You whined. “But it’s Christmas, Tommy.”
Tommy smiled, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to the top of your tousled hair. “I know,” he said, “but that’s fine. We can still have a good day, alright? At least it saves me from being jumped on at a godawful hour of the morning.” His smile grew as a little knowing smirk appeared on your lips, and you sniffed, blinking tiredly. Of all the days to be sick, he couldn’t help but think, it had to be Christmas day, didn’t it? As much as he dreaded being woken up in the manner specific to the day, there was always an ounce of happiness that accompanied it. Having two little children in the house – though he was sure it was probably dwindling down to one, now – who believed in Santa Clause and his reindeer and anticipated each day as any little child did was absolutely magical, especially to a family affected by the hardships of the war and all the destruction it had brought along with it, both mental and physical.
The door creaking as it opened caused the both of you to turn your heads towards it. Finn immediately leaped into the room while Arthur merely peeked his head through the crack. “What’s this then, eh? Almost seven in the morning and you’re still in bed?”
Tommy grimaced when Finn jumped onto the bed, nattering on excitedly about the presents he was hoping to receive once they all trooped downstairs. Tommy glanced over his shoulder and removed a hand from around you to gently grasp his younger brother’s bouncing form. “Oi,” he said, “oi! Calm down, Finn. Your sister’s sick.”
He stopped jumping immediately and a look of genuine concern crossed his little face. “But- but it’s Christmas! She can’t be sick on Christmas!”
“I can’t help it, dumb dumb,” you grumbled, leaning over Tommy’s arm and pushing at Finn’s shoulder. The man rolled his eyes before standing to his feet, taking you with him and perching you on his hip the moment Finn made to shove back.
“She okay?” Arthur asked as he walked towards him. “You okay, sweet girl?” He reached a hand over to brush a few straggles of hair from your hot forehead and stroked a thumb across your cheek. You nodded with a yawn before resting back against your brother, who waited for Finn and Arthur to join him before moving to walk down the stairs.
As expected, Polly was curled up in her night robe on the couch in the living room, sipping daintily on a cup of hot coffee, one of John’s children cuddled up next to her. The other three were sat around the Christmas tree in the corner of the room, bouncing on their knees and getting curious hands batted away by John from the presents underneath the greenery. As Tommy reached the bottom of the stairs, Ada was just walking out of the kitchen with her own mug, and she smiled widely when she saw both her younger siblings, reaching a hand out for Finn and rushing with him into the living room as Arthur and Tommy followed slowly behind, you in the latter’s arms.
“Merry fucking Christmas!” Arthur laughed while he walked into the room, throwing his arms out and immediately becoming assaulted by John’s kids. Tommy followed in a little quieter, keeping his arms locked around you and making his way immediately over to Polly.
“Hey, Katie,” he said softly, nudging his niece next to Polly, “why don’t you start setting out the presents in piles for your siblings and Finn and Y/N, eh?” Thankfully, she nodded happily, leaping off the seat and giving him room to sit down and arrange you comfortably on his lap. Polly kept watchful eyes on the both of you.
“Y/N, darling,” she said after a while of looking thoughtfully at you, “you do know it’s Christmas, yes?”
She smiled softly at your little nod and Tommy bent his head to press a kiss to your hot cheek. “She’s not feeling it this morning. Just a little fever, I think,” he told her, and she rose both eyebrows.
“Yeah, I could’ve told you that. First time in ten years I haven’t seen you bouncing around the place come Christmas morning. If I’d have known you weren’t well, I wouldn’t have gotten up so early.” A teasing glint sparkled in her eye as she reached over to gently tickle you under your chin, and you smiled, cuddling closer into your brother’s chest. She took another drink from her mug before calling out to silence the loud and excited chatter which had begun to echo around the room. “Alright, children! I’m talking to you, too, John!” Tommy chuckled at the small giggle that produced from you, leaning back in the chair. Your little arms entwined around his torso and he placed one hand on the back of your head while the other went to rub between your shoulders.
“Here, Y/N.” He looked up at his niece, who was holding out a brown parcel. “It’s from my dad.”
“There we go, little one,” Tommy said, “first present of Christmas. Thank you, Katie.” He took the parcel from the little girl and rearranged you on his lap so you were able to open it while still leaning against his chest. He glanced over at John, who was busy helping the youngest of his children not wreck the room with wrapping paper. He and his brothers typically shared with each other what they were buying for their youngest two, but now that he thought about it, John had kept his secret this year. Frowning, yet not in concern – at least he hoped. You could never be too sure with John Shelby – he craned his head a little to watch you open the box.
“Oi,” he heard John from across the room, “fucking sit down and let’s watch Y/N open her present, yeah? Come on, kids. Sit.”
You reached up to rub your eyes and unconsciously fell back against Tommy’s chest, who had since slumped down in his chair. He let out a little noise as you did so, but quickly adjusted to the new seating arrangement, tucking your head under his chin and loosely wrapping his arms around you. “What-” He glanced down as the tiny exclamation left your lips. “John,” you said confusedly, “I’m not a dog!”
John laughed and stood to his feet. “You sure, pup?” He ruffled your hair and you pushed his hand away before sneezing.
Ada craned her neck to see. “Seriously?” she asked with a frown. “You bought her a dog collar for Christmas? I mean, Finn would’ve been fine with one of those, but- hey! Don’t fucking push your sister, you little shit!” She shoved her younger brother over in irritation, despite the grin on her face.
Tommy’s eyebrows furrowed together and he took the small black collar out of your hands. A sick sort of feeling settled in his stomach and he turned – now concerned – blue eyes up at his brother. He wouldn’t… would he? “John,” he started, in the firmest tone possible.
John nodded, a toothy grin gracing his lips. “Yeah?”
His stare darkened. “You do know you don’t live in this house anymore, right?”
“’Course.”
“And that this house, that you don’t live in, belongs to me? And your aunt?” He nodded towards Polly, who was sipping her tea quietly on her side of the couch. A double-take was needed entirely when he noticed she was smiling, and he realised with a flutter of butterflies in his chest that she was in on it. He rolled his eyes and tossed the collar across the couch with a huff before dragging both hands down his face. “We’re not having a fucking dog in this house.”
Your eyes lit up like the lights on the Christmas tree. “A dog? We’re getting a dog?”
“Hell yeah, we are!” John said, clapping his hands and immediately setting his children off into excited giggles. “Curly knows a man whose dog had pups a few weeks ago, and he’s bringing them ‘round later today for you to pick one out.” He leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “Merry Christmas, baby girl.”
Head in his hands, Tommy groaned.
“Never had a dog in my life!” Arthur said with a grin before swinging one of his nieces up and onto his shoulders. He chuckled at Tommy’s utterly depleted look. “Oh, come off it, Tom. Look! Look at our little sister! She’s got a fever yet she’s still all smiles!”
You giggled at his words. True, you still felt hot and completely tired, but the prospect of introducing a puppy into the family was absolutely amazing for any child. You were, of course, no different. The only reason you’d never had a dog before could be thinned down to one word: Tommy.
You turned around in said man’s lap, giggling madly. “It’s just a puppy, Tom.”
He peeked at you through the small gap between two of his fingers. “A puppy I’m gonna end up looking after.”
“Oh, shut it, you,” Polly said, kicking his leg. “I live here, too, you know, and I agreed to it. I told John not to tell you because I knew you’d say no.”
“And what’s to stop me from saying no now?” Tommy asked, dropping his hands and raising an eyebrow at his aunt.
Polly tutted. She leaned forward, pressed a kiss to her nephew’s forehead, and then stood up to pour herself another drink. “That little girl’s face,” she told him simply.
Tommy turned his attention to you, and the moment he saw you, teary-eyed and snotty-nosed but still wearing a toothy smile and chatting excitedly to John’s kids and Finn, he sighed in defeat and gently grabbed you, pulling you towards him in a hug. “You’re picking up its shit and giving it its baths and taking it for its walks, alright? I don’t want a thing to do with it, Y/N.”
You nodded against his chest. “Promise.”
“I give him two days,” Ada whispered to Polly as she passed, “and he’ll be all over that puppy like it’s his baby.”
Of course, Tommy would never admit that, two days later, his sister’s words had come to pass, but… well. The puppy was pretty adorable.
Till the Stars Had Run Away - Chapter 3
Tumblr media
.
Summary:  Killian Jones was a voyager. Actually, he was many things, or at least he had been - a lieutenant, a brother, a loving boyfriend - until everything had turned upside down and his life had hit an all time low. So, he gave up. Aboard his spaceship he abandoned Arcadia, his planet, navigating the stars and other solar systems in search of... well, he still didn't know what he was searching for, but his rule was "never remain in the same place longer than necessary."
Chapter 3 . . It takes more courage to
dig deep in the dark corners
of your own soul and
the back alleys of your society
than it does for a soldier
to fight on the battlefield.
Many, many years ago,
in another solar system.
Arcadia was Killian’s place. His home. Not a happy one, but the only one he had ever known. Growing up as a mechanic slave of a greedy merchant was not the best childhood one could hope for, but at least he wasn’t alone, his older brother Liam had always been by his side.
An unexpected explosion in the factory where they used to work put an end to the merchant's life when Killian was only a teenager.
The brothers were finally free.
Liam worked as hard as he could to ensure his brother had a decent life. Killian wasn't as disciplined as his older sibling; he was more of a hothead who often had to be rescued from a whirlpool of rum and games, if not fights. But Liam never gave up, he was always there to remind his younger brother of what was important and to keep him on the right path.
When they both came of age Liam managed to enroll them in the Royal Army. A few quiet and happy years followed. The boys worked and studied hard and they soon reached high ranks. Liam was nominated captain of The Jewel of the Crown, the fastest spaceship on the planet, and Killian was his lieutenant.
Everything seemed to run smoothly.
Until one day their corrupted King put them in charge of a suicide mission, just for his need for power. Killian was skeptical about it, but Liam was stubborn and loyal in his duties and he accepted the mission.
On the way back home Liam died in his brother’s arms, and Killian swore to himself to not to obey another order for as long as he lived.
He took the heart of his beloved brother and fixed it on the inner part of the ship system: connected by electrodes Killian managed to keep at least his brother’s conscience alive and speaking. A poor substitute for what Liam was, but a constant reminder of how much he lost.
Killian then kept the ship and renamed it The Jolly Roger, and flew away from his planet in search of adventures, living every day as his last, and never giving a damn about anything else but his own survival.
In the beginning, Liam was the voice of wisdom and rationalism; he tried to talk his younger brother into not throwing away his life, but Killian didn't want to listen. It was too painful. So he started a life of selfish revelry, while not wallowing in self-pity and drowning his sorrows in every local tavern. As time passed Liam went quieter and quieter, until the day he stopped talking to his brother.
One day, on a strange armored planet Killian had landed, he met a beautiful and strong woman, Milah, and he fell in love with her almost at first sight. She was already married, but she wanted to leave her husband, and she chose to live a life of adventures with Killian. But her husband was jealous and resentful, and unfortunately, he was also a very rich and powerful business owner.
Killian took Milah back to Arcadia, to show her the places where he grew up. It was an unpleasant surprise to find out that his planet had been absorbed by the Lepka Industry, a company that, for its benefit, had depleted all the planet’s resources until it was no more able to produce anything useful, and left the planet inert.
Mr. Gold, leader of the Lepka Industry and also Milah’s husband, had found out where Killian was from and had started to enact his revenge: slowly but successfully. First Killian’s origins, then his love.
Gold showed up one day when the two lovebirds were having a night walk together, and he started a fight with Killian that ended with the latter one losing a hand and with Milah's death in front of Killian’s eyes.
While his destroyed planet was disappearing in the distance from his rear-view screen, tears were running down Killian’s face. Tears of sadness for everything that could have been and wasn’t; tears of rage and frustration for being powerless in front of such an evil creature; tears of longing... “I miss you, Liam.” He whispered to the silence of his spaceship cabin.
The red LED started blinking again and the cold metallic voice spoke: I'm right here little brother. I will never abandon you.
Tears ran even harder down Killian's cheeks.
Present time.
.
The rest of the day passed quietly, well almost. Henry was eager to discover everything he could about the spaceship, and he made Killian answer a lot of questions about the control system, the mechanical parts of the engine, and more specific stuff. He learned how to read the radar and that you need an extra tank of fuel, in case the planet you want to go to delays your permission to land.
Dinner was a pleasant relaxing moment for the three of them. The meal was simple. Given that not every kind of food was going to survive an intergalactic trip, they had had to limit their choices between some dehydrated vegetables and frozen spicy cream, but Killian soon found out that it was one of Henry’s favorite desserts.
“Can I have some more, please?” Henry asked after emptying his second bowl.
“You’re going to explode.” His mother pointed out.
“Oh, but I’ll die happy, mom.” He answered with a big grin.
Killian smiled and gave a mischievous look to Emma “The lad is growing up.”
“Killian, don’t.” She admonished him. But he ignored her and handed another full bowl of cream to Henry with a wink. “What…?” She started, but then: “Do you ever follow an order?”
“Only mine,” Killian answered matter-of-factly.
Emma rolled her eyes and shook her head, while Henry and Killian were sharing a laugh.
“I'm not sure I enjoy the idea of you two as best buddies,” Emma stated.
“He’s my father, of course we’re going to be best buddies!” Henry exclaimed.
.
.
The morning after Killian woke up early, as usual. They weren’t supposed to land before another four or five days at least, but he was used to long driving journeys. He had slept only a few hours, while he could use the help of the autopilot, resting on a hammock he had previously hooked behind the two leather seats that stood opposite the dashboard so that he could easily take control of the ship in case of emergency. But he didn’t feel tired, quite the opposite, he was feeling excited and curious towards what the day with his guests was going to offer him. He distracted himself preparing breakfast, and soon after the table was ready for the three of them, Emma appeared from her cabin, followed by a suspiciously silent Henry.
The boy sat on his chair and devoured his meal with his eyes fixed on his bowl. No word came from him and as soon as he finished, he stood up and went back to his cabin, closing the door behind him. Killian had the impression that if the door wasn’t automatic he would have probably slammed it.
Emma was still savoring her tea and she seemed quite concentrated on the liquid in her cup.
Killian sat back on his chair and crossed his arms; he tilted his head and kept looking at her for a few minutes, but when he understood she had no intention of having a conversation, he cleared his throat and asked: “Have I done something wrong?”
“It’s not your fault.” She stated and then finally looked at him. “Yesterday, before Henry went to sleep, I told him the truth. Or at least part of it. He now knows that you’re not his father. But he’s not upset with you.” And after a pause, she added: “He’s angry with me, for lying to him for so long.”
“Plausible.” Killian nodded. “Henry seems a perceptive boy, give him some time to let it all soak in.”
The rest of the day was much more boring than Killian expected. Neither Emma nor her son were very talkative, and after dinner, Killian wasn't sure if he was more upset by the long hours flying or the tense atmosphere in his ship.
Emma and Henry were sitting at the table, each one immersed in their own electronic screens, reading… whatever damn things they were reading.
Killian snorted, he put the autopilot on and stood up from his seat.
“If you would excuse me, I have a part of the turbocharger to check.” But as soon as two pairs of worried eyes looked at him, he hurried to explain: “Oh, it’s nothing serious, but better not to leave loose ends, right?”
Killian started his way down the stairs that led to the engine room, but after just a couple of steps, he stopped and looked back. “Henry, would you like to come with me? I may need a hand.”
Henry nodded and ran past him down the stairs. Killian smiled to the ever characteristic enthusiasm of the boy, and before resuming his descent he gave a side look to Emma and winked. She furrowed her brows in question.
Down in the storage room, Killian found Henry waiting for him. The lad was probably wondering why they hadn't entered the engine zone yet. But Killian ignored his silent question and went directly to a locker from where he retrieved a little box and something that looked like a toy sand mill with a switch on the upper right side and a glass flask at the bottom; he deposited everything on the small table in the center of the room.
“Wanna hold a bright star?” He asked the boy.
“That's impossible.” Henry was skeptical.
Killian hummed. “I wouldn’t say that. Given the many places I’ve visited and everything I’ve seen in my life, I’d say that there are just a few things that are not possible.”
He lifted the upper lid of the mill while saying: “We need to generate enough energy for the turbocharger.”
Then he opened the box and took a plastic bag with some grey powder in it. “You see this? This is stardust.” He said and immediately knew he had the boy’s attention.
“Did you collect it?” Henry asked.
“I like adventures, but I’m no fool. It's extremely dangerous to go near a star, especially one which is going to implode soon.  You would not come back to tell the story.” Killian shook his head. “I bought it some time ago in an exotic market. Now, all you have to do is to pour some of the contents inside the grinder. But be careful, it's a rare item, don't spill it.”
Henry took the bag with reverential care and started to put some dust into the mill. “Like this?”
“You're doing great. That should be enough. Now switch it on.”
Henry closed the upper lid and turned it on. The sand started to swirl faster and faster until it began to shine so intensely that the mill could hardly be seen through the amount of light.
“This is awesome! It totally seems like a shining star.” The boy was staring in awe with wide-open eyes.
“Aye. I thought you would like it.” And after a pause, Killian added: “You can keep it if you want.”
“But what about the turbocharger? You will have to make another one.” But just after Henry said the words, he clearly understood the truth behind it. “Oh... you don't need stardust energy. You didn't even need my help, did you?”
Killian nodded. “You're a clever boy.”
Right at that moment Emma entered the room. “It’s time for you to go to sleep, kid.”
But Henry ignored her. He switched the mill off and the light softly disappeared. Without averting his eyes from it, he whispered: “It would have been cool if you were my real dad.”
Killian swallowed hard, a strange lump was forming in his throat, but that wasn't the right time to analyze it.
“You already have an amazing mother, as far as I know.” Killian briefly looked up at Emma, who smiled slightly at his poor attempt to mediate.
Henry shrugged.
“Just because someone helped in…” Killian searched for the best word to describe it, “creating you, it doesn't mean he's your father.”
“What about your dad?” The boy asked.
“Not the best example. My mother died when I was still a wee lad and my father, well, he did the best he could to raise my brother and me. At least he tried for some time. But he was addicted to games and he liked to bet more than he could afford. One night, surrounded by his creditors, he ran away. Never knew anything about him after that. My brother and I... uh... we were the ransom for his misdeeds. He sold us to a merchant.”
“Sold? You mean you were a slave?” The astonishment in the boy's voice was visible.
“Aye.” Killian sighed.
Henry wrinkled his nose in repugnance: “That's awful!”
“Aye. But I had my older brother with me. He was probably a much better father figure to me than my real papa. He taught me everything I know.”
Henry thought about it for a few seconds then he nodded. He took the mill in his hands: “Thank you, Killian.”
“No need. Now, be a good son and go to rest as your mother said.”
The boy turned around towards the stairs. Emma waited until he was almost upstairs then she looked at Killian and mimicked a voiceless thank you before following her son.
Later that night, Killian was concentrating on flying when he heard the sound of the sliding door behind him opening and closing. Emma soon appeared in his peripheral view. She slumped down on the seat next to him.
“Henry is finally asleep.” She let him know.
“You should rest as well, Swan.” He had happened to address her using her surname lately. He liked the way it sounded, and he thought it suited her. Swans were quite rare on any planet he had been, and they were known for their purity and beauty, but also their fierce temperament, especially when protecting their offspring.
“What about you? Shouldn’t you get some sleep too?”
“I usually don’t sleep much.” Was his evasive answer.
“Are you going to be at the helm all night?” She asked, a bit concerned.
“As soon as we are out of this group of meteorites I’ll put the autopilot. No need to worry. If there’s any problem, my ship will wake me up.” He reassured her.
But she didn’t move from her seat. She stared at the sidereal starscape; her gaze appeared to be lost somewhere far away. “It’s more than an automatic voice. Isn’t it?”
Killian fixed his sight to the horizon, as well. Emma thought that she may have trespassed some unspoken boundary, that the question she did was probably far too intimate to receive a proper answer. But after a few minutes of silence, he sighed “Aye. It’s my brother Liam.”
“How...?” She started to ask, and he could hear the wonderment in her voice, but then she changed the question: “What happened?”
“We were serving in the Royal Army, back on our planet. Liam was the captain of this spaceship. I was his lieutenant. Our King entrusted a perilous mission to us; I knew it was a suicide mission, but Liam was stubborn and very strict when it came to following orders. He didn’t make it. He died in my arms. I…” Killian breathed deeply. “I put his heart in the innermost part of this ship’s system. Powered by strong hydrogen electrodes I somehow manage to preserve his… soul? Being? I don’t even know what it is, but at least I still hear his voice.”
She didn’t react immediately to his story. She was probably assimilating the new pieces of information about him. Killian internally cursed because he couldn’t stop concentrating on the outer path, while he would have liked to have given her his full attention, to understand what was brewing in that beautiful head of hers.
When she kept silent for longer than he could bear, he couldn’t help avert his eyes from the meteorites just enough time to see her smiling at him. That was unexpected.
“I’m sorry for your brother, but now I understand your rejection of royalty.” She chuckled softly: “and your troubles in following orders.”
Killian found himself smiling too.
It was nice to spend a few moments with her sitting next to him, it reminded him of when he used to sit exactly where she was now, just to keep his older brother company during the night travels. A feeling of long-forgotten joy at the domestic situation warmed his heart.
They managed to pass the group of meteorites without any major consequences, and now there were only stars and distant planets in their sight. “This is beautiful,” Emma stated.
“Aye. It is.” Killian agreed, then he pushed a couple of buttons and lifted a lever in front of him activating the autopilot. “And now, I can finally stretch my bones on that hammock.”
“How can you sleep on that thing?”
“You wouldn’t say it, Swan, but it’s quite comfortable.” Then, wagging his eyebrows, he added: “I could show you how to relax on it?”
What was he doing? Was he flirting with her? But the shared moments before had left them in a bubble of closeness, and he was feeling audacious.
His attempt gained him a roll of eyes from her. “Thank you for the offer, but not tonight.” She stood up and Killian expected a strategic retreat from her. But she went closer to him and bending down she whispered in his ear: “Maybe another time.”
Killian’s jaw dropped open. Was she flirting back? While the door of his cabin was sliding close he could only mutter “Bloody Hell!”
home for christmas - tom blake
Tumblr media
A/N: I don't know how the christmas tradition works for you guys but I based this fic on my personal way of celebrating christmas. we open the presents at midnight on december 25th, I know some people open them in the morning so...yeah anyway, enjoy <3
•••
"I'll be home for christmas, I promise."
You read the words over and over, letting your thumb run across the black ink as tears began to well up in your eyes.
With a shaky inhale, you stood and made your way to the kitchen, carefully putting the paper back in the small box where you kept all of Tom's letters on your way.
You needed to keep your brain occupied, so you decided to bake some cookies that you would bring to Tom's mum for tonight. Ever since Tom and Joe had been sent to fight, the holiday seasons were bittersweet for both families. Celebrating Christmas when your son, boyfriend, husband or brother was on the other side of the world fighting a war was never easy. So when Thomas' mum invited you and your family over for Christmas, you didn't think twice and agreed immediately. They were like a second family to you, and as much as you didn't feel like celebrating this year, you wanted to be there for them. Plus, you knew Joe's wife and kids would be there as well, so they all understood what you were going through.
You couldn't help but let a few tears slip as you remembered your last Christmas with Tom. He had sacrificed all his savings to get you a gorgeous pair of diamond tear drops earring; it became one of your favorites and you quickly began to wear it at almost every occasion. Christmas used to be your favorite holiday, but now it felt like any other day. You were stuck in your house while Thomas was on the other side of the world, not knowing wether or not he would still be alive by the end of the day.
There was nothing to celebrate.
---
"Careful with the presents!" you yelled from the kitchen, seeing as your little cousin shook the wrapped presents rather forcefully in hopes to figure out what was inside. There was only thirty minutes left until Christmas and to say the kids were overexcited would be an understatement. The younger ones were running around the house and trying to convince you to open them earlier, while their slightly older siblings and cousins sat near the tree, trying to find their own presents amongst the pile of them. The adults were all sitting around the table in the living room, catching up on everything while you and Joe's wife Linda helped with the dessert in the kitchen.
"Mommy, can we open the presents now?" Tom's nephew asked as he ran towards his mother, tugging at her dress to get her attention.
"Not now honey. You've got to wait 30 more minutes." the small boy pouted and you watched him with a smile as he crossed his arms across his chest to show his frustration. He turned his attention to you and ran to your side, hugging your legs as he looked up at you.
"Please auntie Y/N!"
"You heard your mummy." you shrugged, giving him a sympathetic smile. The small boy pouted before reaching for the table and stealing a few chocolate candies from the bowl and running off with it.
"Don't eat too much candies, John. You don't want to get a stomach ache before opening your presents!" his mum calls after him and he turns around to stick his tongue out, causing you to smile. Everyone seemed genuinely happy despite the circumstances, which warmed your heart.
"I blame that stubbornness on his dad." Linda laughed before glancing towards you. Her smile faded slightly as she noticed that you didn't seem as happy as everyone else was. Your small smile barely hid your pain. "How are you holding up?" she murmured sweetly.
You only shrugged in response.
"I miss him a lot." she gives you a sympathetic smile and rubs your shoulder comfortingly.
"He'll be home before you know it."
---
Soon enough, the clock strikes midnight and you all gather around the Christmas tree and begin exchanging presents. The kids are quick to rip the nicely wrapped presents and the house soon fills with their excited squeals as they show off their new toys.
After about 20 minutes, all of the presents have been opened and the kids are already playing with everything Santa left for them. You noticed that Tom's mum had been absent for most of the presents exchanging, which you thought was quite strange considering that she loved being there when the kids opened their gifts. When you told Linda about it, she told you that she went upstairs to get some rest. It was understandable after all, she probably wasn't in the mood to celebrate knowing that her sons were somewhere in the world fighting a war while everyone else was celebrating.
But after a moment she walked back into the living room, holding a small envelope in her hands. You frowned as everyone gathered around you and she took a sit next to you before handing the letter to you.
"I forgot to give that to you." she says with a warm smile.
"What is it?"
"Well open it, darling."
Slowly, you opened the envelope and unfolded the paper that was inside, immediately recognising the handwriting. Your eyes began to tear up as you read.
"Dear Y/N,
I know these past few months have been particularly hard for you, and I'm so sorry I haven't been able to spend the holidays with you. I know how important this time of the year is to you, and to both of our families. I miss you so incredibly much, I can't wait to finally hold you in my arms. Hopefully this is our last year spent apart from each other.
PS: I do have a present for you. Mum knows what to do, just follow her instructions.
Merry Christmas my love.
Yours, Tom."
You wiped a tear from your cheek and looked up, meeting his mum's eyes. You bit your bottom lip and smiled.
"What is it, the present?"
"Put this on and close your eyes." The older woman said as she handed you her knitted shawl.
"What?" you chuckled.
"Come on, put it on. I wouldn't want you to catch a cold." she insisted, smiling as she took a hold of your hand. You frowned and glanced at everyone around you before doing as you were told. Then, she grabbed both your hands and led you somewhere, not very far from the spot you were sitting in. You realized you were standing at the front door when you heard it open and were hit with a sudden wave of cold.
"Are you kicking me out of the house?" you joked. You could hear whispers, small gasps and giggles coming from everyone around and you frowned, smiling as Tom's mum let go of your hands and put hers over your eyes instead.
"Are you ready?"
"Yes."
She pulled her hands from your eyes, and you slowly opened them to see the one face you'd been dying too see for all these months.
You gasped, jaw dropping as you took a step back out of shock, your hands flying to your mouth while hot tears flowed down your cheeks. Tom was standing at the door with a smile, a bouquet of roses in hand as he opened his arms for you.
You let out a heavy sob and threw your arms around him, holding him close as you sobbed on his shoulder. He handed the bouquet to his mum so that he could hold you properly, allowing him to wrap his arms around you and hold you closer than he ever had before whilst one of his hand cradled the back of your neck. He muttered sweet nothings in your ear as you sobbed, his own eyes starting to water up. After a minute or so you pulled back only enough to be able to cup his cheek and kiss him deeply. You weren't usually one for PDA, but at this very moment you couldn't care less.
"You’re here.” you whispered, resting your forehead against his. "You're really here."
"I promised I'd be home for Christmas, didn't I?" he smiled through his tears before pecking your lips again. You nodded and pulled him back to you, just wanting to hold him again and never let go.
"Did you all know about this?" you eventually asked, finally pulling away. Everyone nodded and you could see that most of them were crying or fighting back tears of joy.
"You have no idea how hard it was to keep this a secret." Tom's mum said before sighing in relief, her hands moving to her face to wipe away her tears. With a smile, she walked over to her son and pulled him in for a tight hug, which he gladly returned.
You clung back onto him as soon as they parted, wrapping your arms around him as his own wrapped securely around your waist. He kissed the top of your head before lifting your chin up to kiss you sweetly.
"Merry Christmas my love."
I sadly will not be posting for a bit, though, after that. Finals and life demands suck, but I’ll write when I can. Love you guys, thanks for understanding, and I hope you enjoy! :)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Being the only girl on a ship didn’t have many perks. Sure, nobody ever got into a drunken fight with you or expected you to fight in a battle or help in a raid, but you were the mother of about 50 disgusting men. They threw their clothes at you to wash, stained with blood, feces, and urine, and left messes. You cared for them when they were sick. They constantly grabbed at you like the last piece of meat at dinner and were never grateful. Your days consisted of waking up hours before the rest of the crew, making breakfast, which typically woke everyone up, cleaned until it was time to make lunch, went back to cleaning until dinner, and cleaning until you passed out from exhaustion. On days a raid would happen you’d have to work on a docked ship and later give medical care. On the days where you attacked at sea you were to hide in your quarters. Never was there a battle lost or fought on your ship, but you were ordered to stay safe regardless.
Your leader, Captain Loki Laufeyson, was an evil crook. Sure, all pirates were, but he was extra cruel. He stole, lied, and killed people who trusted him. You were painfully awaiting the day where he would finally sell his own crew out to save his ass.
You being the only girl was entirely his doing. He purchased you a few years back in your village. Your father had died of infection and your mother had become extremely sick herself and wouldn’t survive much longer and now could no longer work. You had 9 younger siblings who would die during the harsh winters if you weren’t able to find food soon. You could’ve gotten a job locally, but time wasn’t on your side, you needed money fast, and none of the menial work they gave women wouldn’t do. The good paying jobs all asked for hardworking, big men. The eldest boy in your family was 7. Without any other option, you went to town and auction yourself off to pirates who needed a woman, or more, for any reason. You had hoped you wouldn’t be wanted for that. They paid big money and you would give it to your family for food and medicine while the others got local jobs to continue to support themselves. You didn’t expect to see your family again, so you let your brothers know they were now the men of the house and let your sisters know they needed to step up. The goodbye was painful, the youngest clung to your skirts while the older ones held back tears and forced smiles, promising mom would be okay and that they’d find good jobs to help out. Your mother wasn’t aware of any of it while she lay in her bed, looking off.
“Goodbye, ma.” You said kissing her sweaty forehead, caressing her hair back.
Soon you were at the docs, on a podium, while strange, dirty, loud men shouted numbers. Some were drunk and stumbled over their words while others were pointed and well spoken. Among the ladder was a man who sat at the very front. He started at you with eyes as blue as the water he sails on, long hair as dark as his thoughts.
 “Five thousand pound silver.” The crowd hushed. They looked around for the maniac that would pay that much for one maid. Your eyes widnes at the mysterious man as a sinister smile graced his God-like features. You turned to the auctioneer who donned the same surprise as you.
He shook out of the shock and yelled, “Going once, going twice...Sold!” A man in rags helped usher you off the podium while another lead a blonde girl on next as the number calls started again. Your legs moved on their own accord as your mind swam. Why had he paid so much for you? What was his plan?
You were lead to the pirate and a banker who would handle the money. A few small brown bags sat on the table where the banker sat filing out papers. He grabbed them before turning to you. “Who do I make the remaining money out to?” You told him your family’s name and he scribbled on two pieces of paper. He stamped one before handing it to the man who’d just bought you. “Here you are, Captain Laufeyson, enjoy your new lady.”
You continued looking forward as your body began to shake from fear. From the corner of your eye you saw him turn to you with the same smile he wore minutes before. “That I will.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You opened your eyes suddenly, looking around the darkness. Your body typically woke you up like clockwork to get the day started, but that’s not why you were currently up. You heard a noise. The wood of the floorboards above you creaked. Who could possibly be up? Every night the men filled their bellies up with food, wine, and beer and passed out; the smell of more food being their only source awakening. You swung your legs out of bed carefully and grabbed the unlit oil lamp on your dresser of items. You reached into one of the drawers and pulled out a lighter and fed the lamp the flame as it illuminated the small room. You slowly crept to the door, praying the wood wouldn’t betray you.
You pulled the door open and looked out with the lamp lighting your view. Seeing nobody there you crept out more until you were at the stairs. You couldn’t see past them and your heart beat in your chest like a hammer. Maybe you should turn back. Go back to sleep, pretend you heard nothing. The thoughts ran in your head as you debated what to do next when you heard it. Heard them. Voices. You quickly blew out the candle and was thrown into darkness again. You crouched down and leaned on the bottom step, listening.
“Find what you can and take it. I want this mission to be quick and easy, find the hammer, burn the ship down, and leave. If you find anyone awake, kill them. My brother will pay for what he stole from me.”
Fuck. Footsteps continued walking around upstairs and your mind raced. You were being invaded. But surely by the wrong ship, Loki had no brother. Or maybe he did, he never spoke to you. You didn’t know what he stole from people or who he stole from, you just knew he left behind countless enemies that were bound to come back one day. But they never did, until now.
You had to think fast, the ship would be up in flames soon and if you’re found awake you’ll be killed. You couldn’t jump overboard, you’d definitely drown. Your only hope was the ship’s one lifeboat, the one Loki kept around for himself and a few men that’d he take with him to help row him to safety if the ship were to ever have an emergency. It was a long shot, the odds weren’t in your favor at all, but if you waited for the flames to wake everyone the lifeboat would be filled and gone. If you acted now, you’d be in the boat ready to sail off the minute the invaders burned the ship and retreated back to their own.
Rowing couldn’t be that hard and you had to be close to land. You had just finished a raid hours ago, you just needed a map. Maybe a compass and some food to last you. You stood and slowly crept to your room to retrieve a small brown sack with a map and compass in it, you’d stolen it in your first year on the ship, saying you’d run away back to your family; you never found the guts. It was still dark so you felt around blindly until you felt it hidden in your drawer. Then you walked  fast, but carefully, back out and to the stairs where you listened for movement. Upstairs in the kitchen was a basket of fruit the men had gotten while on land. You’d have to be fast. The kitchen was all the way on the other side, and you had no idea what these men looked like or where they were.
Slowly, while clutching the bag tighter, you made your way up the stairs. You looked around, using the moon as light, before deciding the coast was clear. You stepped onto the deck, the cold night made the wood feel like ice on your bare feet. You were used to the heat of the underdeck, never had you left your room in such immodest conditions, wearing just a thin nightgown and underwear. Your cheeks burned with embarrassment of being found like this as you carried on to the kitchen.
You got into the kitchen and felt for the fruit, using muscle memory to navigate around the room. You stepped very timidly in your search, you were all too aware of the fact that there were plenty of things that made loud noises in here. Then you felt the bowl and took a few fruits before putting it in your bag. You start walking out when a loud clang echoes throughout the kitchen and pain radiated through your foot. You kicked a pot.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A noise rang in Thor’s ears and stopped his search short. He boarded his brother’s ship with 3 other men in search of the hammer his brother had stolen from him, the object that was worth more than gold that he had found on a journey. He looked up at his crew member, Heimdall, and the both nodded to each other. They both inched closer and closer to the source of the noise, drew their swords, then pushed the door open. The moonlight pushed in and illuminated the room. In the middle of it was a black pot on the floor.
“It may have fallen by itself. Stranger has happened.” Heimdall commented.
Thor grunted in an answer, but didn’t leave, moving deeper into the kitchen. He kept his sword at attention before him, ready to swing. As he continued looking, Heimdall stepped outside to keep watch as Stephen Strange walked up to him, yielding the object they were all there to retrieve.
“I found the hammer,” he said holding it up to Heimdall, the light bouncing off it, “Cocky bastard had it unprotected in his trophy room.” Stephen announced looking into the kitchen and seeing someone crawling. His eyebrows raised as he looked closer into the dark room.
Thor turned the last corner before standing up completely, sighing in defeat. “I guess it did fall by itself.”
Stephen smiled as the small body continued to crawl slowly backward toward the door, obviously oblivious to the two men that stood behind her. “Not quite, Captain,” the body stiffened at the close voice. “I think we found our culprit.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You hadn’t heard them, you were too focused on the man with long blonde hair to notice the two other men that stood behind you. The hair on your body stood to a point and your body was frozen in place. You stared ahead as you felt the heat of the man behind you.
“What do you mean-”
The blonde, their captain, stopped short when he saw you. His eyes matched that of your own captain’s but he was much bigger. You could see the muscles work to hold the heavy sword that the captain held onto, his beard was light across his stunned face. He was beautiful. And he was going to kill you.
The blonde shook his head and looked above you to his men. “Heimdall, go find Holgun and you guys start the fire. We’ve gotten my hammer, now it’s time to finish what my brother started.” He turned to the one holding the hammer. “Hand me my hammer and go with them.”
The brown haired man walked to the blonde holding out the hammer, never taking his glaring eyes off of you. “What about her?”
The captain looked to you before responding, “I’ll deal with her.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next thing you knew, you were on a lifeboat and the ship you had called home for years now was up in flames. The only lifeboat on the ship was set on fire, so there was no way of escape now. The men you were with rowed away from the flames as screams and panic filled your ears. You still clung to the brown bag as you curled up into yourself on the boat floor. Every once in a while the captain, Thor as the men have called him several times, will look at you.
Stephen looks back at you before looking at Thor, who was still looking at you. “You said to kill anyone who was awake. She was awake; why are we taking her back? She should be dead.” The other men glanced back as well before turning their attention back to rowing.
“She’ll come in handy.” Thor smiled at you before turning to Stephen. “Don’t question your captain, Stephen.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It didn’t take long before you were back at Thor’s ship. It was like Loki’s only this one looked newer. It was definitely in better condition, he probably had more than one maid. The men got out of the boat and onto the ship, stretching as the morning glow of the sun coming up cascading onto the main deck. Few other crew members were up and moving things along to get the day started. They seemed less barbaric than the men you were used to babysitting, these men looked like they knew how to care for themselves.
Thor helped you from the lifeboat and lingered even after you were steady on your feet. You looked up at him before looking at the bag in your hands. A gust of wind went by, making you shiver; it was then that you remembered how exposed you were. You wrapped your hands around your body, and Thor must’ve noticed this gesture because he hugged you to him.
“You’re freezing. Here, follow me.” As Thor led you around more and more eyes looked to you. Hungry eyes took in your scandalous appearance, not once did you see another girl. Something told you these men hadn’t seen a girl in years, especially in this type of attire.
You were led into a big room, at least double the size of what you were used to. Thor set down his hammer on a dresser before pulling socks and a jacket out. Both items entirely too big for you.
“I’m sorry, it’s all I have,” Thor said scratching the back of his neck, sounding ashamed, “Not any women who would be able to share clothes with either.” He handed you the items and watched as you timidly pulled the clothes on.
“T-thank you…” Your voice didn’t sound like yours.
Thor nodded and looked at your bag. He seemed to just notice it as he took it from you, looking at the contents within. He looked at you before smiling. “You wanted to run?”
You nodded meeting his gaze.
“Did my brother didn’t treat you right did he? Never did know how to care for a woman properly.”
Oh, he thought…
“No,” You said a little too loud, “I was only his maid. We never...I never…” You trailed off, before looking down at your hands. They were sweaty from holding the bag for so long.
“But he wanted to. He tried didn’t he?”
You stayed silent. Thor seemed to know his brother, you didn’t need to answer him. The night Loki took you back to the ship he had tried, but you cried and begged. You thought he wouldn’t let you go, what would you be able to do? You couldn’t run and even though Loki was no match for his brother, he could’ve overpowered you in an instant. And you were on a ship with at least 50 men who wouldn’t mind helping their captain, you shook at the thought. Loki had spared you, though. He just doubled his efforts to make your job as his maid harder, refusing to buy another maid.
“My brother is anything but merciful, my lady. You held value in his heart, if you hadn’t he would’ve killed you after refusing him. I’m afraid we’re similar in that way.” The way he said that didn’t settle well with you. It felt like a threat. “I don’t blame him though,” Thor stepped closer and touched your cheek, “You are a gorgeous little thing. Something like that can’t just be let go so easily..”
You shrugged away from Thor and he retreated his hand. He smiled at you as you looked up again. “Right well, I’m afraid being on my ship and serving no purpose is prohibited.” His voice dripped venom as he stalked closer to you, backing you into a wall.
“What d-do you want from me?”
“Mmm, I think you know.” Thor gripped the hem of your nightgown, slowly hiking it up.
Your hand flew to his hand, trying to stop his efforts. “Captain, please, don’t. I can do anything else, just don’t…” Tears threatened to fall from your eyes as you looked up at Thor, pleading with him.
He sighed before letting your gown go and stepping back a bit. “Fine.” He turned behind him. “Go into that cabinet. Inside is a cleaning powder, liquid powders mess up the wood on my ship. Use that and scrub the floor in here. Then move on to other rooms.”
You looked stunned at his relent, waiting for the trick to be revealed. With Loki you had screamed and begged for hours, Thor just gave in. Then again, he did seem more level-headed than his brother.
You walked to the cabinet and found a small jar with powder inside. It was a strange place to keep cleaning supplies, but you weren’t one to judge. You were thankful you were able to keep your innocence.
“I’m going to go and talk with my crew. I’ll take it you know what your doing?” You nodded again. “Good.” With that Thor was gone leaving you with the sweet smelling powder. It burned your throat but it wasn’t unbearable, you’d had worse done to you. You looked into the cabinet again and found a rag. You dumped some of the powder on the rag and started scrubbing the floor. As you did, more of it wafted to your face and into your lungs and nose. You coughed and looked to the floor. There was no difference. What the heck? You thought. Maybe you need water?
You stepped into the room connected to the Captain’s room and found a pail of water. You grabbed it and pulled it to the main room where you were sitting. When you made to sit, your thigh brushed your core and you whimpered. It felt good. You had no idea why, but it left a hunger within you. You tried to ignore it, not wanting Thor to think you were useless by not doing the one job you've been doing for years now. You wet the rag before dumping more of the powder on the now damp rag. More powder went to your face and your hunger grew. You scrubbed the floor harder, trying to do anything to ignore it. You looked to the floor and again saw no difference. Maybe Thor would see one and you just didn’t, the floor looked pretty clean before doing this anyway.
You moved on and the powder continued flying around you. Soon you were sweating, the heat in your core growing all around your body. The more you ignored it the bigger it grew. The powder was soon gone and you tried to stand to go let Thor know you needed more. As you did, your pussy screamed with need as it brushed your thigh again. You moaned out in frustration before wiping the sweat from you. You took painful steps outside the room to find Thor and found the deck even busier than before. As you stepped out more men looked to you, stopping what they were doing and licking their chops like an animal. What you would do to be devoured in that moment…No. This wasn’t you. Whatever was happening you’d figure out later. Right now you needed Thor.
Almost on cue, Thor stepped in front of you, grabbing your arms and keeping you upright. Your legs felt as if they’d give out as him hands seemed to cool the fire in you for just a moment. “Finished?” Thor looked down at you with beautiful eyes. He was so good looking…
“Y-yeah. I need more, uhm, powder. I ran out. I’m sorry…” You mouth felt dry and you couldn’t seem to focus on your words.
“No, I think you’ve had enough, my lady.”
“What? But you said-”
“I know but you don’t look like you can continue, not in your state at least…”
His eyes trailed down your body and back up. His eyes darkened as he watched your thighs rub together. You needed a release.
“Water. I need water, I’m so hot. Why is it so hot?”
Thor chuckled before reaching at a table beside him. He handed you the goblet that was filled with wine. You gulped it down, but it did nothing for the dying thirst you felt or the unbearable heat you felt. You started gasping as another wave of heat hit you, your core ached and you felt your panties getting wetter by the second. You gripped Thor’s jacket that was on you and fumbled to take it off. That still gave you no release, even the socks’ removal felt like nothing. All the while Thor looked at you with amusement. You narrowed your eyes at him.  “Thor, what did you do to me?”
“Nothing that wouldn’t help you.” He looked around the ship and saw his crew looking on in curiosity. He pulled you closer to him, his carnal and territorial instincts kicking in at the sight of men sizing up his meal.
“Thor, please, help me.”
“Don’t worry, baby, we’re getting to that.”
Thor gripped the collar of your nightgown and pulled. The fabric tore all the way down, exposing your boobs to Thor and his crew. The cool breeze felt amazing on your fiery skin, but there was still a flame that didn’t extinguish all the way. You made to cover yourself but Thor held your wrists in his strong hand. With the other he ripped your panties from you, leaving you completely bare for everyone to see. You moaned as another wave crashed into your body.
“I know, I know, I’m right here, baby.” Thor shushed you as he turned and bent your body over a table. Your drenched pussy was on full display for him. He rubbed his crotch to yours and you cried out. You needed him inside you. Now.
“Thor, please..”
“Mmmm, please what?” He grinded harder into you.
“Please, fuck me.”
Thor fake gasped in surprise. “In front of all these people? Tsk, tsk, tsk, I expected more decency from you.”
“Thor, PLEASE!” You begged for him to touch you, do anything.
He chuckled. “Alright, baby, if you say so.”
With that Thor shoved himself in. You felt a sharp pain as he broke the barrier of your innocence, and you cried out.
“It’s okay, shhh, that’s right, take daddy’s big cock. He’ll make you feel better, don’t you worry.” Thor continued his hard pace, with each thrust your fire was slowly dying out. But another was forming within you, it had you backing up into Thor, trying to appease it.
“Nuh uh,” Thor slapped your ass, “You asked me to fuck you, baby, so let me fuck you.” His hand danced along your hip down to where you both were connected. He rubbed tight circles on your clit that had you moaning out louder. Thor continued slapping your ass, loving the way you squeezed his cock when you did. His thrusts and fingers were working you closer and closer to bliss.
Finally your breath hitched and you were crumbling over the edge, eyes shutting in euphoria. Thor grunted above you as he drew his hand away from you clit and up to your hip, crushing into you even faster, chasing his release. He grabbed your hair and pulled you up to him so he could whisper in your ear.
“Fuck, your sweet little cunt is gonna make me cum baby. Your squeezing me so tight, milking me for everything I’ve got. You want me to cum inside you?”
When you didn’t answer he spanked your ass again.
“Answer me when I talk to you.” He growled.
“Yes, I want you to cum in me!”
“Yes what?”
“Yes, daddy!”
“That a girl.”
A few more thrusts and Thor was cumming deep in your squelching cunt. Your pussy ached from the abuse and your thighs were sticky with both you and Thor’s release that was leaking out of you from around his member. As Thor pulled out, you realized in your daze he was still fully clothed with just his cock hanging out. He looked around at the men who were still watching in awe.
“Enjoy the show boys?” He looked to you and smiled while stroking his hardening member. “How about round two?”

“You!” with Tommy Shelby x Shelby sister angst please? If not then that’s fine ahaha🖤
Anon: Request where Tommy Shelby finds out his daughters been sleeping and sneaking out with a rival gangsta please
Romeo and Juliet
-Part 1
Tumblr media
Pairings: Tommy Shelby x Sister! Reader
Warnings: Swearing, drinking, just Peaky Blinders themes.
A/N: I thought these two requests blended well, so here’s what I came up with! Also, when this request popped up, i thought i was in trouble 😂
“WHERE IS SHE?” THE VOICE OF Arthur Shelby boomed as he entered the den. Groups of men scrambled towards the 4 walls, trying to avoid the wrath of the man with the brutal reputation. “John! Have you seen Y/N?” He asked as he approached the boy by the black board.
“Upstairs.” John replied, shaking his head at whatever rivalry had got into: again.
Bolting up the stairs, his heavy footfall could be heard against the rotting wood as he called, “Y/N!”
A faint voice mumbled, “Shit.” then an “Out, out.” before the slamming of a window. “What do you want, Artie?” The same voice called back, almost mocking him with the nickname she came up with when she was 3.
“Open the fuckin’ door.” Arthur demanded as he tried to jiggle the door open but it was locked.
“I’m changing.” She snapped back, which was true but wasn’t the only reason. The heavy foot falls was once again heard trailing back downstairs as he sulked away, allowing Y/N to crack the window open revealing the dashing boy she’d been sneaking around with for the last year. “Sorry.” She whispered, a smirk played on the boys lips.
“Was worth it.” His deep voice replied before he winked, causing the girl to blush lightly and giggle. No one else but Mattia Sabini -Eldest son of Darby Sabini- had ever made her feel this way, it was corny, she thought. Yet it was true; her hard exterior completely dissolved when around him and it was the same with him…
“See you at the cut, later?” he asked and when the sudden movement from the hallways began to make them both panic, she pecked his lips.
“See you there.” she smiled as he jumped down and she closed and locked the window. Combing through her hair, she took the crazy strands behind her ear and zipped up the back of her dress, making sure she looked presentable…
Gracefully, she walked down the stairs, earning tilts of caps and bows of head from the men in the shop. Unlike the brothers who were feared, Y/N was respected, she was selfless and polite towards everyone -much to her brothers dismay- but she was the beam of light Small Heath needed to keep going!
“There you are.” Polly stated, her nose flared: oh she was mad. Y/N was quick to spin around to see her Aunt and Brother, cross armed staring at her.
“What now?” The 18 year old rolled her eyes aggressively looking severely unimpressed by her family. Polly went to speak when Ada came marching in, followed by a red faced Finn and an out of breathe Isiah. “Yeyyy!” She spoke in a monotone voice. “One big happy family: reunited.” She added in a sarcastic tone, before her face dropped blank. A cold sneer on her face as she looked between them all, never mind the boys, her coldness sent a chill down Polly’s spine…
“Family meeting.” Arthur grumbled, all of them draped into the kitchen whilst Y/N held back, wanting to get away. You see, Y/N used to be close with her family, she really did but war changed them; all of them. Over time, she watched her Aunt deteriorate with fear, Ada got rid of the blanket - seeing how truly vile the world is. The boys came back almost unrecognisable, it hurt her more then anything else. Y/N hadn’t changed, still kind and caring as ever. It was only since there changed ways started to have an influence, she turned colder then the bleak midwinter. That’s the only way to survive this family, you see they tried to protect her, even more so then Finn! It drove her crazy, they acted as if they were the victim but with recent events her own family were becoming the enemy. So along with her cold exterior came her rebelliousness, her and Mattia were supposed to be temporary, they both wanted to break from their families hold but when the two were together it was a great enough escape as it was. However, the Shelby’s had one thing they all still had in common was their hatred to a certain Inspector Campbell.
Tiptoeing away from her family, she saw the one pig that made her blood turn cold and the colour to wash from her face. His sickening smirk was upon his lips, directed towards the young girl. Shivering as her chest began to rise rapidly, she knew he had a certain reputation with women and he hadn’t tried to hide his feeble attempts towards the young girl. Just as his eyes lingered on her, she felt completely dirty. Before she could say something, he flashed a chain she knew all too well.
Y/N’s eyes widened in slight horror, the silver cross gleamed in the dull sunlight as the family gem stone of the Sabini’s flashed in front of her eyes. Oh shit. He’s been watching, probably for months, watching me. She thought. Her heart was pumping so fast the girl presumed she would explode. Y/N knew if her dirty secret got out, it’d collapse the whole family and any progress they’d made -even if she didn’t agree with what they did. To be honest, she was the core to this family. Y/N kept them all sane and in order, Polly knew this, that’s why she pushed her niece away, that’s what she thought would be best for Y/N and the family. Yet Y/N just wanted to feel loved, like before…
Without realising, the Inspector had approached her. Gulping at the closeness, she tumbled back.
“Now, Miss Shelby, seems you have been busy.” His thick Irish accent filled her ears, causing her to shiver.
“Leave me alone.” She expressed weakly, internally scolding herself for it.
“But I think you could be great for the cause. Smart and clearly” he paused, holding up the chain. “Sly.”
Snatching the chain, she glared at the man who continued to smirk. “I don’t know where you fucking got this but you dare utter a single word of this, I’ll cut off your hands and bury you face down in a ditch.” She snarled, she done it once before, Campbell could be next for all she cared.
“Ah, maybe not the brightest. Threatening an Inspector.” he tutted, edging even closer.
A burst of anger fuelled her confidence as she leaned in, whispering “I don’t think the court would care, you didn’t even fight for your country. Your as good as dead to them already.” She whispered maliciously, the devilish smirk and twinkle in her eye reminded all that she was a fucking Shelby.
Walking backwards she watched his face fall flat, almost embarrassed. About to laugh, her body collided with another causing her to turn rapidly. Fuck. Thomas Shelby stood there slightly amused at the Inspectors reaction but his face faltered. Before she could slip away, he spoke “You!” he spoke harshly, “Family meeting.” Simply, she groaned.
“Don’t make me go, Tom.” She huffed, but it was too late she was already dragged by the arm. “Look! I found him.” Y/N announced as if she hadn’t tried to escape, slumping in the seat by John who she still got along with - slightly. “Alright Jo-Jo” she teased him with the old nickname.
“Yeeah, Yeah, shurrup.” he muttered back in a jokingly tone. The two sat and watched as the rest argued back and forth until Tommy turned to stare in their direction when Ada stormed out, scanning over his two younger siblings. Y/N never looked more interested in her life.
“Right, everyone out.” he called. “Not you.” he directed at Y/N who sat back down with a huff. She even noticed Pol linger by the door, not sure if she wanted to leave the two alone: she did.
“What do you want Tom?” she asked cautiously.
“What was Campbell speaking to you about?” he asked calmly, sitting down opposite her whilst lighting a cigarette and she did the same. Inhaling quickly.
“Oh you know, just casual chitter chatter.” She remarked sarcastically, not wanting this conversation to continue. Simply laughing at his intense glare as she did the same. Piercing blue eyes clashing with each other.
“Am I Laughing?” He asked rhetorically.
“No but you should, might melt your cold heart.” She snapped back, had enough of his games. Although he didn’t show it, her comments did nip. everyone who was on the receiving end felt the nip, she was brutal and more importantly very personal. “Now, excuse me.” She spoke.
“I know what your fuckin’ doing.” He seethed, not one to let out his anger but she could easily pull everyone’s trigger, it was a gift. “Your gonna end up dead with him, probably thrown to the bottom of the cut.”
Stopping dead in her tracks, her heart pricked repeatedly. Her wrists curled into balls. “What i’m doing?” She exclaimed. “I’ve done nothing.”
“The Sabini’s are dangerous, I thought you of all people would understand.” He returned to his calm state after a few puffs of tobacco.
Y/N just scoffed. “Sounds familiar doesn’t it, Tom? Falling for the enemy. I thought you of all people would understand.” She reiterated, causing a moment of silence.
Tommy huffed, “I’m worried for ya. You’re my sister.”
Y/N exhaled in a chuckle. “You care?” she shook her head. “No, all you fucking care about is business.”
“Y/N/N.”
“Don’t you fucking dare.” Her voice cracked slightly. “I tried. I fucking tried with you all. You pretend to care about family. All you want is power and money. If i turned up dead in the cut, you wouldn’t even shed a single fucking tear.” Y/N boomed, her temper rising and with the look on Tommy’s face, she was satisfied. Picking up her coat, she ran out to the den frantically. Tears streaming down her cheeks. Pol was quick to see Tommy who was sat there with his head in his hands.
“Y/N?” Arthur asked, placing his arm on his sisters’ shoulder only to be shoved away.
“Fuck off!” She screamed, causing the whole place to fall silent never seeing the girl so angry; an angel soon turned the devil. In a split second she was gone.
 Bang.
Everyone stared at the door then turned to Arthur who was now on his way to Tommy with a murderous look plastered across his face…

Part 3 - Selamat
Two hours later found Tracy Two taxiing  down the runway at the GDF Auckland Airforce base with Scott at the helm. His brother had wanted to fly in Two and truthfully the flight would have been quicker but the big cargo plane was far from inconspicuous.
They needed to keep a low profile. So far they had managed to keep the news of the pair’s marriage out of the media but there were rumours beginning to circulate. A few images captured on telescopic drone lenses had popped up in various media outlets over the last year that suggested that Virgil and Kayo were anything but adopted siblings.
Luckily though John with the aid of Eos and iR security had managed to displace the gossip mill with carefully crafted videos confirming the pairs whereabouts as being anywhere but the locations suggested in the images.
There had been a couple close calls but for the most part they had waylaid any further suspicion.  Though if anyone was to take a closer look at things the carefully laid network of lies would crumble.
And now that Kayo was pregnant; as badly planned but joyous an event that it was, it wouldn’t take much for some intrepid newshound to put two and two together if they caught wind that Kayo was expecting.  And that was the last thing they needed.
With her uncle on the loose and already vowing to crush the Tracy legacy there was no telling what would happen if the lunatic got word that his only living blood with the exclusion of his brother was carrying the spawn of his hated enemy.
Scott had actually had the foresight to have John and Eos come up with scenarios for just that occasion and he found the results mind boggling and scary to say the least.
He liked to think that they were prepared but with the Hood, there was no being sure.   His hate for Jeff and the Tracy name had only increased since the patriarch had been returned to Earth and from what little that i.R operatives like Penny had been able to uncover.  The Hood’s pockets were dark and very deep.
Swinging Tracy Two into the shelter of a secure hanger, Scott started post flight with the help of his father and brought the 30 million dollar craft to a stop.
A thump thump of the fuselage signaled the all clear to disembark before he released the lock on the door.
“All right,  the hanger’s secure.  We can pop the door.”  He called back into the passenger cabin.”
Unbuckling he stood and helped his father to his feet.
“Smooth flight, Son.  Even smooth landing.”
“Well, this thing is a cake walk in comparison to One and all her finickiness but I wouldn’t change her for the world.”
Jeff chuckled.  “I don’t blame you there. Luxury is for …”  He caught himself there and Scott had to chuckle himself.
”You’ve been spending too much time talking to Lee again haven’t you.  Don’t let Grandma hear you talking like that.. “
“Oh perish the thought,  she’d have a bar of soap shoved in my mouth before I even drew the breath needed to protest.”
Scott clapped his Dad on the back and stepped out of the flight cabin.  The door to the personal jet was already unlatched and open and from where he stood he could see their security detail waiting at the bottom of the short flight of stairs.
Getting Virgil’s attention while he fussed with Kayo, he pointed a thumb over his shoulder.  “Our ride is here.  Ready whenever you are.”
“With bells on.” Virgil said with a grunt as he bent down and scooped his wife up.
“I can walk.”  Kayo’s grumped, her protest ignored as Virgil carried her out of the plane and down the gangway to the waiting black SUV, their Grandmother following close in their wake.
“We’ll meet you at Auckland Gen’.“ Scott informed watching as the head of their security team split the group in two to cover the family members present.
“Alright, Dear.”  His grandmother waved, disappearing into the dark interior of the large vehicle.
He watched a moment as the SUV pulled away,  the large door opening just enough for it to pass through before vanishing from view.
“Okay,  Hubbert what you got for me?”
There was an ebb and flow into the seedy side of the city.  People came and went, flowing in through the doors and down the street.  Blanketing the hole is a wall internet café with life.   Transient and the like came to this desolate corner of the city for one purpose and one purpose only.
To access the hidden world.  The one that was skulking in the shadowy doorways and back aisles that one could find anywhere in the world if you knew just where to look.
There was no avoiding it for where there was light there was darkness. In that darkness that’s where one individual was most at home.
Little was known of him even in these dubious and unsavory circles but the mere mention of his name would have even the most hardened checking over their shoulders and seeking the closest exit.
His reputation was such that the one thing he was known for was the wake of death that he left in his path.   Those of the people who opposed or crossed him even in the underworld found they were swiftly bereft of life.
It was a well cultivated tidbit that he nursed and nourished regularly.   For to get anywhere in this world,  respect even ill gotten was necessary.
When his mind was set to task there was no keeping him from his goals and he would plow over anything that got in his way. It was the doggedness that he had been known for prior to his life of crime and one that suited his mission well.
Not that much of his prior life existed anymore. He’d made sure of that.
Of all the other things he had accomplished one that he took greatest pride in was his information network.  His web was vast and it ventured into nooks and crannies the world over.  The spidery tendrils far reaching and numerous though very few were even aware of it.
Over the years he’d had a lot of time to improve his skills.  Meandering in the dark since his downfall at the hands of Jeff Tracy.  And in that darkness he had thrived.
Now as he sat in an ill lit corner of a grungy café  garbed as a drunken vagrant,  he grinned.  The encrypted software on his screen flashing at him.   Information received and compiled.  Orders sent out and acknowledged.
He had what he needed for now.  It was only a matter of time before he had it all.

Edmund x Reader- You Get Me
A request from the amazing @nerdbirdsworld! Thanks for being patient with me! Hope you like it <3
Tumblr media
The hustle and bustle of the men and women out in the street escaped you as you and Edmund sat on the steps of his cousin’s home. You were bundled in a jacket but the February air had you feeling quite chilled, despite the now nearly empty hot chocolate in your hand. Edmund and you had gone out earlier that morning on a whim, wanting something sweet. Lucy was inside reading and Eustace was complaining to his family about his cousin’s presence.
“How’s Susan? And Peter?” You asked, foot knocking against Edmund’s shoe as you turned to him. He snapped back to the present, always people watching, always getting stuck in his mind. It was like he was in another world.
Edmund’s slim shoulders rose and fell and he stood to throw his empty cup in a nearby bin. Returning to you, you stood as well and he opened the stubborn door, leading you upstairs. You followed quietly and he closed the door, letting a sigh loose as he slumped on the bed.
“They’re fine, like always. Doing better than Lucy and I,” He frowned, tugging at a loose thread on the comforter beneath him. You kicked off your shoes and sat beside him, hand ruffling at his hair. You half expected him to grimace and pull away but he simply stayed put and you carded your fingers through your hair. You two had come along way as friends. He had been emotionally closed off, as had you. It was hard to build something when you were both so protective of your hearts. Even friendship seemed liked to large of a vulnerability at the time.
You’d folded far before Edmund. Something about him had resonated with you and your walls had crumbled. He was still guarded, a worry behind his eyes, an unknown weight on his shoulders. Yet he mentioned in passing he often had night terrors and didn’t often get a fitful rest. It wasn’t much but it was still something. You knew he trusted you even if he still wasn’t prepared to talk. Growing up with the air raids and having to move around so often it was obvious that he was going to have some reservations, some internal struggles.
You didn’t blame him. You understood. You were patient with him and he was eternally grateful for it. You worried about him but had never pitied him. To Edmund you were his best friend. Lucy was as close as he had to a best friend before and then you had come into his life and he knew that you were different.
With a huff, Edmund was shifting, head falling into your lap, your skirt and warm thighs acting as a pillow for him to rest. He looked up at you and your heart pounded. His eyes were amber sap lit up by a sunrise. They nearly glowed up at you and the warmth in then made your stomach do flips. Your hand returned to his hair and you admired the softness.
You’re my best friend yet I feel something far more friendly for you. You wished you could say. Your words were stuck in your throat. Fear blocking the truth from bubbling up. You couldn’t ruin what you had. You feared Edmund couldn’t feel for you what you felt for him. He was always so closed off despite him trying. You felt like there was a whole other side to him that you didn’t get to experience. Watching interactions between him and Lucy left you stumped. Being siblings was a good reason for their closeness but they had a whole other dynamic that you couldn’t put your finger on. It was the same with Susan and Peter as well. They had this untouchable aura about them sometimes and it left you feeling small.
“You alright Y/N?” Edmund said gruffly after admiring you for a moment. Your eyes had gotten that far away look in them again and your eyebrows had wrinkled to the middle of your forehead. He lifted his hand and smoothed the lines away with a gentle touch. Against your better judgement you were grabbing his hand, leaning your cheek into his open palm with a content smile.
Edmund’s heart leaped violently yet he stroked your cheek with a calm that he didn’t feel internally. You looked like you wanted to say something but wouldn’t allow yourself to. He often found you stuck in between speaking your mind or opting out for something else. Sadly, you seemed to choose whatever other, safer option you had in your head. It was rare a moment when you decided to say the first thing to pop up in that beautiful mind of yours. Your facial expressions were always so clear, so easy to read, yet sometimes Edmund was left grasping to find the true meaning of your words and the look behind your eyes.
I want to be with you always and discover every thing about you, not just as friends. He wished he could say as he realized he was still tracing a path against your cheek with the pad of his thumb. A quiet had fallen over his room and it nearly sucked the air from his lungs. You were leaning into his hand, your face closer than it had been before. His head was still in your lap, your fingers in his hair. You had been his saving grace recently. He’d go mad in this damned house with his obnoxious cousin if it wasn’t for you. Edmund loved Lucy dearly but he needed your company like he needed oxygen.
“Fine, yeah,” You hummed softly, eyes now glued to his as you stared at each other. Eyes are the windows to the soul, you thought offhandedly as you peered into his irises. You wish you could truly see through them, you wished for some insight into Edmund’s complex mind. Your bottom lip was trapped between your teeth and Edmund removed his hand from your cheek to gently pull it free.
His eyes lingered on the red of your lips. They were plump from your worrying at them with your teeth and it made you terribly tempting. He looked back up to your eyes and his heart stuttered in his chest. Your clear eyes were baring your soul to him. You couldn’t hide anything from this moment. Your emotions were written on your face, begging him to read. Your thoughts were swimming behind your eyes and he was ready to dive in. The mix of adoration and worry left his own mind a mess. What about him had you looking so pensive?
A thousand words were passing between you two even as you sat in silence for god knows how long. That was what he liked so much about you. You could sit with him in silence and he felt content and complete. There was no need to speak. He’d been forced to mature beyond his years yet you also had a wisdom about you that was complimented by your own natural playfulness. You weren’t too serious but you could be serious if need be.
“What are you thinking?” You said, barely a whisper escaping your lips. You didn’t want to shatter the silence but you couldn’t help but ask.
Edmund wasn’t thinking. In this moment he was only feeling and your fingers were interlaced with his, laying warm over his stomach. He wasn’t thinking and so that’s why he found it so easy to let you know what he was thinking about. He was thinking about you and your smile and your nose and your importance in his life. He didn’t think he could imagine a life without you. You had become a part of him. Without hesitation he plunged you two into uncertainty.
 “I was thinking about how you get me better than anyone else. I was thinking about how I only feel alright recently when we are together because I worry over my siblings and I hate being in this house. I was thinking about how you keep me sane and grounded. I was thinking about how I’m pretty sure I love you,”.
It took a second for his words to settle on your ears and another second for you to realize what they meant. In that time Edmund had realized the truth of his words and now he was steadily working himself into a panic. Not because he had told you, no, there was some comfort that had come from speaking his feelings for you out loud. It was the fact that he wasn’t yet sure how you felt that made his heart jump start in his chest. Was this what it felt like to have a stroke? Maybe it would be for the best if he did. Then you’d be worried about that and not the fact he had just confessed to you.
After three seconds of him sharing his thoughts your lips were spreading into a wide, radiant smile. Your hand was anxiously running through his hair and your fingers were squeezing his more intently. You laughed softly, almost in disbelief before you were leaning down, lips brushing over the tip of Edmund’s nose, leaving his cheeks hot and pink with the suddenness of your affection.
“I’m pretty sure I love you too,” You giggled and he couldn’t stop his own smile.
