Things I think about all the time regarding Peter B is how a lot of his movement feels almost like laziness but it's actually just an absurd amount of skill and experience. he's been doing this longer than anyone else there, so he knows how that villain speech is going to play out, doesn't look when he fires a web because he knows exactly where it's going to land, and he's absolutely able to predict where Miles is going to go and catch up to him when no one else can. because peter b has been at this longer than everyone else there and it's literally second nature to him. give me more middle aged experienced superheros please.

#my art #my ocs #got inspired by a uquiz i took abt ur fate as a villain. and then got brain blasted with these 2 at like 3 am the other day. #their names r bira and heero they are the villain and hero respectively of ur typical 'ahh the dark lord is trying 2 overthrow the kingdom #w/their army of evil monsters and their dark magic!' except the king sucks shit and life in the kingdom sucks unless you're rich #and bira is in the right actually. but anyways. heero and bira have respect 4 each other in a way they dont want to examine further #until one day when they fight and heero's sword slips. and they kill bira. #they panic and without even thinking use dark magic to bring them back... bc they can't imagine living in a world without them... #they lose their eyesight as price for it and bira (shocked confused thrown off the dance they were doing around each other) #gives them one of their eyes as 'repayment'... #later bira is captured and heero is tasked with executing them but they cant do it. they combine powers with bira and barely escape together #i have More of an outline but 👍 this is so much already svdbsgs. #both use they/them btw!

Years ago I came up with an ATLA fic idea for the earth avatar after korra and it was kinda good but I stopped caring about it. as I developed the plot and transformed my initial (flawed) idea, I got less interested in it because it was no longer the same idea. I basically wanted to write Trope A, didn't like that it was such a bad rendition of Trope A, fixed it, and got bored cause it wasn't Trope A anymore. I absolutely don't have the time (or desire) to go write it now (especially with avatar studios coming in hot with a new avatar), but damn I hope an alternate universe-me wrote it.

#atla #basically it was the same issue genji had and kyoshi had and all the fics have with not knowing who the new avatar is. Confusing two ppl #/not sure which is which #person A was abandoned at birth and given to family B #family B also had a child at the same time (gasp) which was person B #They grew up together in B's family. Both are benders #B was super clever and brave and maybe a bit headstrong but otherwise everything everyone expected of an avatar #kinda crappy parents of B are warned around age 14 or something that A and B could be dangerous together by Some Secret Source (villain for #and *insert political factors here* parents of B abandon them both. #[both A and B are mixed earth and fire nation] #A is a bit mellower and follows B's lead a lot of the time / doesn't mind not being the best at everything. #A and B go on adventures/solve mysteries on why their parents left both of them etc #that's like the first act and they find out one of them could be the avatar #they're poor btw. anyway #They of course make friends along the way (similar to aang's aventure-journey arc) and bam team avatar 3.0 #except they don't know who the avatar is. gasp #so they look for people who might know how to find that out and they're like “it doesn't matter if it's you or me it's fine!” But ofc B #is really confident that it's them #blah blah they train and they find out Person A is the avatar. world crumbles #B is shocked and maybe there are issues beforehand yknow but A leaves for training and B is left in the dust feeling useless #Now abandoned by both family and friends in their eyes #B retreats and disappears for a few years as A trains. A does avatar things. B secretly gets involved with the Wrong Sort [villains] #maybe something spiritual? unlike lok2? who knows. Not me #leads up to A and B confronting each other and it's sad. A does not want this. B feels betrayed cause of x and y events #B obviously feels justified in their cause #*cue fight* but something changes w/ the villain and B's reality starts to crack #A convinces B that it's not all lost. Insert something about their parents again #gasp B's parents were threatened maybe. or not. Never decided #B starts to come around and together they kick ass. B has a LOT of community service hours to fill #protagonist to villain (maybe antihero?) to protagonist again

Horsies in the Plex if Roxy is a horse lover before she knows they've ever existed here is really good honestly. She's off exploring, finding random horse themed things and immediately drops what she's doing to run over to Vanessa with it like "LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!" cause Vanessa also likes horsies and is the reason Roxy likes them so much in the first place.

Like it starts with a prop horseshoe or something. Then she's finding plushies and building a little collection of them, making sure to give Vanessa one every time she finds a new one. Then she finds a random ass saddle or a bunch of prop hay bales or something. A bridle. Some bit pieces. A harness for a wagon. The wagon itself. Horse action figures. Whatever else. She's been excited about every single thing she's found so far and wonders how much more there is to find...

Opens a new storage room door and she finds actual fucking horses. Deactivated, dusty as hell, animatronic horsies.

Fucking grabs Vanessa and takes off running into areas Vanessa is absolutely not allowed to be in at all to show her all the horsies sndjjd like "VANESSAA!!! THERE'S HORSES!!!! NESSA HORSES ARE REAL!!! THEY REALLY EXIST NESSA LOOOOK!!!!"

ok I know everyone has been talking about the queer symbolism of Gwen's entire arc and yes it's great I loved that

but the thing that really got me was Miles "coming out" to Rio as Spiderman. I know it's not as obvious, but the line "I was afraid you wouldn't love me the same" felt like being hit by a bus sir! It was just too real sir! I cried. That's probably why I missed all the clues that Miles was in the wrong universe the first time I watched it.

Remembering that one post explaining that Americans do in fact learn the metric system for science classes cause I realized just now that science-related stuff isn't the only context in which we regularly use the metric system. Well, I guess what I'm thinking of is science-related, but I meant in an everyday, everyone, many contexts kind of way.

Medicine. Liquid medicine has dosages measured in milliliters, and pill dosages are measured in milligrams. Always.

So, we really do use both the metric system and the imperial system with regularity, just for different things. It's so common/normal that I bet most of us don't even realize it, just like it took me weeks after seeing that post to remember the medicine thing.

Anyway, I was just thinking about this while lying in bed trying to fall asleep, so maybe now that I've posted it I can turn my brain off 🤞

I remember when I was in a private school accidentally full of Mormons, one of the guys there (who also used dnd to pretend *r* me. That’s another story) had a big FAT crush on Mettaton. Like loved Mettaton in all entirety and shipped Mettaton with Papyrus.

And one day while discussing it, I said “oh yeah, isn’t Mettaton actually a guy? I remember when I learned that I couldn’t believe it.” And he responded “what? No? He’s not a guy right?” And I told him to look it up because I’m pretty sure he’s actually a guy

He never talked about Mettaton ever again and seemingly stopped crushing and shipping Papyrus with them- lol single handedly ruined this guys experience with Undertale probably.

#rat rambles #Im starting to feel better tho Im betting within a day or two Ill have made a full recovery #but I just have so many things I wanna draw all the sudden and its killing me #its because I've been thinking abt ocs again and that gives me a lot more options lol #in particular I've been thinking abt marci and toon more again recently #its just the two of them flirting in their mutual workplace environment with toon being dead serious and marci doing it ironically #the main thing is that marci was rly under the impression that toon like. hated her and was taunting her since they're friends with loonie #who long story short is marci's ex childhood best friend who she fell out with after the death of loonie's mom #the two are not on good terms in the slightest and marci knows very well that loonie would want her dead if she had been more honest #so as toon starts to like get more casual and like genuine with marci as the two spend more time together marci warms up somewhat but still #doesn't rly see toon as a friendly figure until they take her out to a museum and marci kind of snaps a bit and asks toon to stop beating #around the bush and is caught off guard when toon seems genuinely kind of hurt and meekly explains that they were just trying to help her #because she had seemed rly stressed and sad all the time and they thought that their lil dates had been helping her relax a bit #that confrontation left marci initially feeling confused but after the initial shock she was mostly left with a sense of dread and guilt #partially because she had just snapped at someone who she had grown to care abt for no reason and partially because she now felt that she #was hiding stuff from toon that would cause them to change their mind on her immediately if they knew #aka that she and loonie are divorced and that she thinks its mom sucked absolute ass (which she did) #oh and also that she used to have a crush on the guy that killed its mom who was also his mom which is also the reason she hates said mom #said mom treated him (aka midas) like shit and tried to get him killed several times #so when all hell broke loose marci at the end ended up mourning midas much more than his mom who everyone else was mourning #including loonie since it actually had a very positive relationship with its mom and a very distant relationship from its siblings #now marci never admitted all of this to anyone but she did act on those feelings to eventually lash out at loonie causing a huge fight #basically she yelled at it for being pushy and clingy and forcing her into a job she didnt want and expecting her to solve all its problems #the two dont necessarily hate eachother but they definitely heavily resent eachother #they still often long for eachothers companionship but not nearly enough for either to wanna make ammends #so toon quite liking both of them causes some internal conflict for the both of them #loonie is fully aware that toon has a big ol crush on marci but doesnt stop them from being friends with her even if it makes it sad #and marci rly wishes that toon wasnt friends with loonie but feels guilty for feeling that way #its a complicated situation and one that rly isn't helped by the fact that one of the three has the dead god queen mom #loonie could get away with a Lot and everyone knows it

I wonder if part of the fairy/walrus thing is people having different views on the relationship of surprise and confusion. Like, personally, I don't actually feel I can meaningfully quantify degrees of surprise after a certain shock threshold. It's either a completely unexpected situation or it's not. But after that initial shock? The fairy is some guy. The walrus remains confusing.

#I acknowledge I would be extremely surprised in both cases #Although tbh there's actually a good chance I would initially assume the fairy is a costume or a prank which would soften the blow #I can't imagine how I could mistake a walrus #But yeah even if I immediately knew what they both are. Extreme shock. That's an intense but short emotion #I ask the fairy what they're doing here and we have a talk. Situation is unexpected but next steps are manageable. #With the walrus I-uh.... What do I do. Who do I call. I feel I should know who to call but I don't #And then what? How long will this take? How long will I be trapped in my apartment? #And also how did this happen? What do I tell people? Is there going to be an investigation? Should I look for evidence? #how much danger am I in? #The whole scenario is overwhelming to even imagine #But idk if having more questions inherently makes me more surprised you know? #Ymmv but to me a certain amount of reality is necessary to create that level of confusion #Confusion has practicality to it #At some point when you're outside that framework there's no reconciling to do. Just accept or reject. #A blip in reality causes suprise. The process of wrestling with reality is felt as confusion #Idk I was just thinking an alien is more akin to how I would feel about a walrus #And it helped me think about how confusion and surprise are related but not actually the same
