had a really vivid dream this morning and need to write it down and share it before I forget it because wow
I don't remember how it started off, my recollection of this dream begins on a boat chugging through some river/bay, and me and a handful of other people are trying to jump over to another boat that's nearby because there's people we love/want to see on that boat. So we make the jump, and some people from the other boat jump to ours to see their loved ones. And we keep doing this for a while, because we aren't allowed to be on the other ship, until we all finally end up on one side and someone says, 'hey, why don't we just jump off these ships and escape, because they're clearly never going to let us stay together here'. So we do.
A smaller ship is passing in near-enough jumping range, so we make the jump. Course, it's obvious we're not supposed to be there and we're immediately spotted as stowaways. The captain is willing to let us stay if we make ourselves useful, though. We head to the hold and introduce ourselves to the foreman there. He asks for our names, and when I introduce myself, I first give my birth name, but that seems to confuse him, and he doesn't like it, so I try again. This time, I give him the name I've been trying out, Jackdaw, or Jack for short, and this time, he accepts it.
He sets us to work moving boxes from one corner or the hold to another, and the first one goes without a relative hitch, but the second box is where the problem begins. To move it, we needed a specific part of a winch. I would go to retrieve said part, and the first time, we got it installed and all ready to go — and the piece went flying out of the winch, falling somewhere we couldn't find it. So I went back and got another. I don't even make it back to the machine this time before a shadow overtakes me and I, by some dream logic "die and respawn". So I try again, and once more, as I try to take the piece to the machine, a shadow befalls me, but this time, I can see my attacker. It's a ghostly, wraith-like woman, shrouded in rags, a muzzle bound tightly over her face, pushing what looks like a maid's cart. And again, I die and respawn. Before I can move to pick up the piece again, a voice — I'm not sure if it was one of my companions, or a disembodied voice that dreams sometimes have — tells me that I can't just ignore this woman, this ghost. I should talk to her, instead.
Of course, that's the last thing I want to do; she keeps killing me, and her appearance is frightening enough as it is. But I decide to try, so I head down to the hold, and not long after I have stepped foot in there, the lights cut, like before when she is about to attack. I look up, and in the corner of the room, she lingers. I call out to her, and to my surprise, she approaches. I cannot make out what she is saying, though, because of the muzzle around her face. It's not a traditional human muzzle, but rather a cloth dog muzzle, sodden with saliva and biting into her face, distorting her words and breathing into a garbled noise. So gently, I remove it, and when it peels away, some of the color returns to the room. The ghost begins to speak, as well. I don't remember what we talked about; her death, I think was one point of conversation.
Most of the color has returned to the room now, and I can see that she is a cheery woman, just beaten down. One last article of her ghostly appearance remains: a pair of goggles, or perhaps blinders. So I ask permission, and upon her acceptance, unbuckle the goggles from her head and pull them away. Beneath, she wears a pair of thick-framed glasses that she straightens as if seeing clearly for the first time in a long time, and her eyes are sparkling in the light. We talk some more, and a game is mentioned. I posit that we have the resources, so why don't we play said game? The woman agrees, and everyone on the ship gathers in the corner of the hold. I don't know what we were playing, some game with two sides, dodgeball or volleyball or something of the like. The dream faded there as I woke up.
It's not often my dreams conclude, though, much less conclude with a happy ending. I wasn't able to really appreciate the dream, either, until I fully woke up and had unfortunately forgotten some of it.

My DM asked for another commission. He’s a big fan of Beholders and said, “Can you make me a beholder in a vest? She’s the head of the assassins guild, I want her to look like a gangster.”
And because all art should start with reference gathering, instead of saying, “No, how can I put a vest on a ball of eyes?” I said, “Give me a minute.”
You’ve seen a Beholder, right?
Tumblr media
These guys? They’re basically orbs with tentacles coming out and lack… basically everything that could hold a vest.
So I stare at google for a bit then get back to him. I say, “Well, I have three ideas. The first one is what about a hat instead? Like a fedora, a gangster hat.
“Or I can jam her eye tentacles into a vest like Squidward.
“My personal favorite though is to have a few straps stuck to her and have a little limp body puppet dangling underneath her from them.”
He said to no to Squidward but to test out the two others in rough sketches so I made these.
Tumblr media
Before drawing he said he was leaning toward the hat but after seeing them he instantly loved the puppet one. His only request is that I add a hat. I asked, “Can it be tiny?” And he said yes. So keep your eyes peeled for when I finish this ridiculous thing.

Okay so I was watching @anniflamma's God Games animatic (the Hera one) for probably the 100th time, and I paused at one point for whatever reason, and I noticed a little detail.
Tumblr media
This is when Athena says "Never once has he cheated on his wife", and I see the cocky expression on her face, like she knows that she won with that... BUT if you look at her hand, you can see she's like... Squeezing her upper arm a little?
Now I know basically nothing about art or how you portray stuff so excuse me if I'm wrong somewhere, but I think this might be like... Athena being a little nervous or something? Maybe? I'm not sure, but I really wanted to share this little... discovery.
These animatics are So. Freaking. Good.

♫ This place reeks of death, there's a chill in the air. And I barely escaped being killed by a hair. ❝𝐆ʀᴇᴀᴛ 𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑, 𝐀ʟᴛʀᴜɪsᴛ, 𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐃 𝐅ᴏʀ 𝐇ɪs 𝐅ʀɪᴇɴᴅs?❞ Sorry to disappoint, that is NOT where this ends! ♫

Some of the devs for Larian were at the bg3 meet at mcm comic con today and I had a big convo with one of them and learned some neat little things
I instantly asked about Gortash romance as Durge. He said something along the lines of how logically it wouldn’t make sense and you have to consider a ‘waterfall effect’ of things that happen and how you can’t just have the one off thing, one tiny moment could impact HUNDREDS of things which does make sense.
I asked about the mocap and rigging they did for animation and learned that Kar’niss’s legs are all hand animated (I also said I could fix him, to which he replied NO YOU CANNOT.)
There’s a reason why you don’t usually see feet in cutscenes and it’s because they were weird to animate lmao
They’re really awesome people and I was so privileged to hang out with them! Wish I’d asked more stuff but I’m happy with all these little tidbits
