Decided to rewatch NATLA to properly form my own takes that’s been running through my mind: (I’ll have both things that I like and dislike.) Part 1

SPOILERS!

I like it like a friend from a hundred years ago:

First and foremost, NATLA predominantly consists of Asian American Pacific Islanders. Good for them for creating a version that is more in their lens and creativity.

The Bendiiing. All of the elements, except for Earth, are 10/10. I really want it to be more solid, especially on AangvsBumi. It’s not that bad though, so much better than…well u know. I’ll give it an 8/10.

I rewatched it with a Filipino dub and it’s good, 9/10. Aang VO was convincing as a kid, so either they’re a great actor or a great kid actor. The jokes (Sokka’s sarcasm) hits better on my mother tongue

The costume. The only one that I do agree with everyone else that lacks is Zuko’s scar. They should’ve put prosthetics on the eyebrow.

Zuko’s hair? Hello? They did a great job. Even though my sister and I sing Ariana Grande song whenever we see them swaying. It’s an integral part of his story, and I loved that they keep it. There’s an East Asian culture that indicates that kind of haircut as a punishment. I remember my History teacher taught me this in eighth grade but I forgot which it was, my bad. And the actor’s such a champ for having that hair IRL.

My favorite actor performances: Gordon (Aang) superb acting. Liz (Azula). Utkarsh (Bumi). Justin Wong (Chong/SecretTunnelguy) sounds exactly like the character. Made up for my delusional expectation that Dee Bradley Baker would be in this. Ken Leung (Zhao) pisses me off so much, and that means he’s doing a great job. Dallas (Zuko) & Iroh (Paul). DDK's(Ozai) a natural idk if that's acting /j

Was it established in the OG that Katara's intro is a folklore/legend? Because yeah, I don’t mind that it is considered that way in this version.

AAAAA, the Lieutenant Jee younger casting makes so much sense now! The 41st division is chef kiss. Zuko cryiiiing when he was being banished!? Dallas Lui ate!

THE HYBRID ANIMALS LOOOK SO GOOD. The ostrich horse blended well with whoever rides them. It doesn’t look CGI to me. MOMO HIS MOMONESS, MOMO OF THE MOMO DYNASTY

Any Zuko fight choreography (MY FAVORITE CHOREO DALLAS LOOKS FIIIRE). And Aang’s too (Oh hey).

End scene of Episode 1, is very cinematic. I can’t believe TV shows have come this far. I hope employees are paid well.

The End Theme remains the saaame, and is added with cinematic effects as well.

The folly/sound effect at the start of Episode 2. Why is this the only episode with that flair?

Creating a grave for Gyatso.

How Ozai’s forced unity/being totalitarian is represented. Reminds me so much of our own government, it amuses me. I know it’s not directly referencing that though. It’s good that they show it early on I guess. With the Fire Nation culty greeting as well.

On a lighter note: THE AIR SPHERE/BALL whatevah, yes! More of this goofiness. How about instead of being inspired by GOT, NATLA should be inspired by Stranger Things in terms of fantasy + childhood simplicity balanced by this trauma they're going through. (Well, ST lacks worldbuilding cause it’s just normal Earth but anyway)

Kyoshi Takeoveeer. I hope Roku gets more screen time someday though. Pls pls pls.

They incorporated the OG character theme songs! Of course! The ones I noticed right away are the FireNation Siblings’. So if you watched OG Avatar and you watched the scene where a mysterious girl joins the infiltration of the FN Royal Palace, you’ll know who she is.

Sorry not sorry, Daddy Dae Kim is daddying. (Although he did catch me off guard in Zuko’s Agni Kai lmao.) The plot.

The Aang VS Zuko fight! A reference to the Fortune Teller fight. The team did so well.

Zuko The Master of Disguise Major In Stealing Clothes. Full-time Avatar researcher.

A fourth wall foreshadows Bumi’s OOC for this version. Jet’s "he’s not like he used to be" in line. I mean they did warn us.

Another 4th wall is the line “Things shouldn’t be here” referring to the prototype Fire Nation balloon.

Nice animation with the retelling of Two Lovers legend.

Lu Ten Funeral scene ate. That single teaaaar. I recommend everyone who loves the animation to watch this scene. To feel something idk AHAHAHAH.

The actors were convincing when interacting with CGI animals. Specifically the badger moles.

ZUKO AND IROH SCENES!

CGI’s great did not waste any money

In Katara’s flashback. She experienced this in her present form. And when she was so scared to go to the place where her mom was killed, she immediately changed back to her young self. Like, I wanted that so bad when I was watching the flashback. I thought, this shouldn’t be the present-day Katara. There should be a moment when she switches back to young again. And they did.

Big Iroh moment that makes you cry as an adult when Gyatso was reassuring Aang that the genoc*de wasn’t his fault, and shouldn’t blame himself. Ahh, and the subtle sadness as they say goodbye.

Random eye drawing from Zuko. He’s an artist AHAHAHAH. Okay, I forgot which episode. Sincerely, unreliable narrator.

Basically every scene/plot they 1 by 1 copy from the show. Did not disappoint (well, maybe because OG showrunners were there). Blue Spirit, Siege of the North.

Zuko’s room. I love me some character bedrooms. He’s like a TV Sitcom character for that.

Gaang teamwork scenes! It works and it's dynamic.

Hahn as an honorable man? Yes. I don’t like love triangles so much. I like me some camaraderie. And Ian (Sokka) acted well for feeling included and seen as Hahn recognized his value as warrior/intel.

Zutara fight scene.

Two points that I don’t know if I like but it makes me realize some stuff:

Meek Katara. I know there are specific plot points that Feisty Katara is needed. But she was always nurturing, so I think it makes sense she’s…meek? That Jet scene explains it. Maybe because I relate to her being a log AHAHAHAH. But yeah, uh, I do not, ironically, have strong feelings against that water down.

Angry Bumi. IDK how to feel about him tbh. I always think Bumi is…harsh like that. Almost scary. But yeah, he never blames Aang. Still, it doesn’t feel out of place here. He will return anyway so he’s not this one-dimensional character that is only angry at his friend (hopefully). I never thought of how Bumi would actually feel. And that he will be upset, and now it’s sad because that’s like your friend when you were twelve years old and you wonder where he’s been all this time, and if he’s alive. And..war..never made it any better to process that emotion. So, we got two versions, one that is cautious and then eventually welcomes him, and another who's completely angry and blames a literal kid that he does not know the pain (from the war). Too real, and I personally don’t mind.

⋆✧˖ ⸻ Sunsets / Sunrise (if I get to catch the latter °^^), and generally the warm tint of certain times of day that give the golden hour or, as I like to call it, the "lo-fi vibe" lmao.

⋆✧˖ ⸻ Sleeping in / waking up rested. It sounds odd maybe, but for years I have had trouble feeling truly rested, so whenever the rare day occurs where I wake up and don't feel like roadkill, it's a win (and usually guarantees for a great day too)

⋆✧˖ ⸻ Creating things. Mostly this pertains to my art and writing, but also whenever I get to dress up and feel nice, or generally get to manually do things. Decorating my home would count into that as well, I think.

⋆✧˖ ⸻ Playing video games / Reading (books, manga, comics...). This kind of ties into the creating things bit, since usually when I play a good game, or read something that amazes me, I want to create stuff about it. I enjoy getting lost in stories no matter the medium, and even more enjoy thinking about expanding on the material given to me.

Hii! For the ask game: 3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?

Thank you for the ask! This was one that I was hoping soneone would send!

I will answer this for my main WIP, "Black and White".

"Black and White" as a whole is mostly about: a) the weight of expectations, and b) the way that power changes you (negatively) as a person. And my boy Darius, the main character, yeets himself from A to B.

The main thing about point A is that expectations often make others see you less as a person and more as a vessel for those expectations.

Because, you see, Darius has the misfortune of looking like Alphonse, the dead son of Diedrich, the stage magician he idolizes and later hires him as his assistant. And on top of that, August, the circus's lion tamer and Alphonse's ex-boyfriend, decides to start dating him for this same reason.

Diedrich gives him his son's job, his son's clothes, and even has him do magic tricks that his son created. And August gives him the same pet names he used with his ex, despite all context for them being gone. At one point, Diedrich even says "I thought you were a morning person", referencing the fact that Alphonse did like to wake up early, to which Darius responds "I've always worked better at night. I would wake up at 10 if you let me".

They barely see him as his own person, he's a ghost they use to correct their past mistakes, even though they never can. And despite their outward appearance, the two boys could not be more different.

Darius has also placed pretty big expectations on himself: he wants to become a magician just as good as his idol. Which is obviously impossible, since Diedrich sold his soul to get his supernatural powers.

And when he discovers this, and that he's been lied to for years, Darius finally snaps. He realizes all these expectations are impossible. But instead of the more healthy character arc other character in the story have, of realizing you don't need to meet expectations if they don't suit who you really are, he goes the opposite direction.

(There is something to be said here about my analysis on the structure of former gifted kid narratives but it's off topic and this is already too long aaaaa)

He sells his own soul without a second thought, representing the self-destruction that unrealistic expectations can lead to.

And from here he basically gets corrupted by his own power. He goes off to become a magician (and also kind of an asshole, but that's beside the point).

And when he cools down a few years later and realizes what he did, he regrets it. Because no expectation is worth destroying yourself over.

So, the basic message is that you shouldn't change yourself to become what others want. You know yourself better than they do.

It's my 5 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳 --- Wow it's been 5 years since I tried to learn to draw properly and post them here 😅

Long rambling under the cut

Honestly it was pretty challenging for me because my study (when I started this blog) was pretty intense, also I live at home, commute every day to go to class so finding time & energy to draw is out of the window. I'm always amazed that most of my fav artists are real university students too, who probably have it even harder than me but they can draw a lot better... So why can't I??

The thing that I learned over time is, I improved faster when I draw fan arts. Because I have real and strict references to follow, unlike when I do OC where I usually just random bullshit go. That's why you see me posted fan arts more here. I just do my favorite fandom to motivate myself lol.

I am a picky person regarding fandom because mentally I can't handle so many heartbreaks (HAHA). And I need a fandom with diverse things to draw. Fate series is very perfect for me. I really like their ideas and the characters are just challenging. I've been into it since 2016-2017 and my pre-Fate art compared to today is... dkgeagwefgwk. I owe my skill growth to this fandom. My first post here was a Tomoe Gozen fan art 😂

I got into radar twice (which is still weird and unbelievable) because of a Noragami FA and my first A:TLA FA ever posted. Which was funny, because I don't draw them that much. But then again, my first "exposure" was from a random Taylor Swift ink art for a random inktober in 2019. That was so surreal lol.

Maybe you notice another fandom I draw a lot too, yes the game of all people in this world: Genshin Impact. Man, I started the game in release and thought "I have to make at least one fan art with the scenery of the game, and maybe this gonna be my first and last GI fan art." And look where we are now. I didn't expect this game would blow up, I believe the first FA I posted was one of the earliest Genshin post on tumblr 😂.I started doing GI FA also because I am mesmerized by the landscape and want to draw landscapes better. You see, there's this kind of reason in EVERY media I'm involving myself into. I simply like pretty and cool things. Sadly at some point the fandom is hell, so I like to take a step back sometimes.

Few months ago I also did some vtubers FA. Although mostly HoloID only, simply because I'm proud of them. Vtuber community has this unique relationship between Vtubers and derivative works, so you can feel real accomplishment when you showed your work to them.

Still, I still highly prefer to make real good original art and story someday. For now, I guess I have to grind first, because my current level is still not where I want to be yet to achieve that.

I use tumblr to post because I like the blogging and tagging system, however this site isn't popular in my country and my marketing for local cons isn't effective if I only use tumblr. I have IG, but I don't like it, thinking I should make twitter or something. AAaaA. My wish for now is to make many money with art lol (at least to supply my disposable income).

And some little things about myself, I'm working now, but not in creating art/design field. It's more of a history and research field (I do still interested in design... if I have the chance--yes I graduated from design thingy school). This blog is like... my creative outlet. The girl on my avatar is my OC Klappy, a gjinka of klappertaart. Klappertaart is the name of an Indonesian dessert (well, the name itself is dutch I guess) made from coconut topped with raisins. Hi 🫖!! Thank you for the ask and showing your love for my bbg Raven(im gonna assume its her since my other oc Fish is basically non-existent PFTTT) hehe 💕

I am probably not the best person to answer you this because funny enough, Raven is my first ever OC XD so my experience with OC creation is kinda just…based on vibes haha but I’ll offer a few of my stories

Its majorly thanks to my friend bressy when it comes to making Raven, although she doesn’t post her OC Ava as much now we do a lot of things behind the scenes!

If im going to be honest, my advice will always be just do it, you have to start somewhere and then roll the snow ball down the hill!

You might not believe this but my Raven initially was just suppose to be a regular military private with zero background and stuff and boi her first sketches were terrible XD but hey! At least I had a name and a purpose— which is im gonna ship her with Price.

Everything else comes afterwards! Slowly but surely, I didn’t start focusing on her until very much later when im more active in the cod active, which speaking of is also great because the community (albeit less) do have some people who are willing to talk about OCs, which can often help build your stories!

In my case I talked about Raven with Bressy a lot :3

Not sure if this count as an advice but in my case, Raven is like…a mash-up of a few characters that I love! So taking inspiration from your fav shows, characters and movies can help out. Hell, my Raven’s blueprint follows Ghost HAHA (quiet, deadly, silent, unhinged you name it)

I guess Raven’s character is based on my own experience as well, like Raven has a few pieces of me inside :3 maybe your oc can be an extension of yourself, something you wish you can have irl but unable to achieve it(god do I wish I know how to use knifes HAHA) or being the opposite

Oh yeah, dramatify everything you can think of HAHA and also trauma helps (not even kidding)

Like if we combine the “opposite” thing and making it dramatic, the prime example from my case would be: hey! Im a huge flower enthusiast, I love them

And then I turn it into the extreme in Raven, giving her anthophonia(fear of flowers) and then make up a traumatic backstory for it(got tortured in an abandoned kindergarten with sunflower wallpapers which manifested as generalised fear towards anything that resembles flowers of sorts)

I think what matters most is to have fun. Your oc doesn’t have to be extremely badass or complicated backstory! There’s absolutely no shame in creating one for the sake of your indulgence (like to ship it with any of the 141, yum)

And OC creation takes time, don’t rush the good stuff yk, heck I didn’t give Raven a full name until months later :)

I hope my answer can hopefully help you out a bit and possibly motivate you to make your own oc albeit its shite advices HAHAHA if you do make one though feel free to share :] I always love seeing other people’s OCs 🫶🏻

Regarding you ignoring Raven’s death…heh you do you because I have a part two incoming….👁️

Looking at that "aengel family" illu again and I don't remember if you've mentioned it before, but after things get revolutionized and stabilized in Eldarya where did Leif and Imo go? Did the family go back to HQ? Or did they move somewhere else? And i that's the case, which place?

I keep on looking on this picture (thank you @candysweetposts again), they are so happy there :)

Near the end of my story the situation goes like this: corrupted Oracle is killed, but Eel Crystal survived. Members of Guards of other Crystals (as the one located in Eel is one of many, not even the biggest- hence why Eel Guard is so uncompetent) start debate what to do next and what death of Oracle means to Eldarya. Turns out- it doesn't mean much. The flow of maana is working even better without huge and ancient being feeding on Crystals, but the research is going on. Eel Guard is under serious reformation, you can say that they try to do a social experiment here and Imogene decides to take part in it: she wants to join Guard, but doesn't care for missions, and thus the new branch is created. You can say it's socio-environmental branch, something she is quite pasionate about. All those details she was furious about (like Mery and other kids being allowed to go however they want despite Eel being quite dangerous, or what happens to families of guardsmen who were killed during missions, anti-racism campanies, things like this). Leif is ofc v against it, he thinks she is doing it to atone for his sins, because yes, he can be patronizing, but finally my faelien grows some cojones and stands firm for what she believes. Leiftan is sentenced for his crimes. He spends some time in prison, he has to do some missions (mostly they are looking for Lance and whatever is left of his army), but after some years there is amnesty and he lives with Imo in Eel. He is a bit broken after all things that happened- but he decided to trust his mate and make Eldarya great again changing Eldarya her way.

Now my writing ends with all three of them (Rika, Imogene and Leiftan) back in Eel, awaiting the true New Era of Eldarya, so everything else is just kinda... unwritten sequel:

During Leif's imprisonment their older childe, Rianne is born, she is a quiet one who remembers whispers behind her back about her father. The boy, Bain is def the happy child, growing up when his mother started being an important person in Light Guard (but really important person, not Erika's style important person). Both are a rather weak aengels born from Leif (s strong) and a very, very weak Imogene. There will be no superior race in New Era. Leiftan is a daemon, he has a v good relationship with his kids.

Erika after losing her fey status (during fight with Oracle) stayed in Guard, in Shadow, doing what she loved the best- exploring the world. I think I know with whom I wanted to pair her with, but it is not relevant to story, as it will happen long after it ends.

Aaaaa, sorry for too much infos. Whenever some unfortunate soul asks me about any of my OCs...

AAAAA HI MOOG!!! THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THIS EXCUSE ILY DJDBDHE

IM SO EXCITED TO INFODUMP ABOUT MY CHARACTERS I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!

I ACTUALLY HAVE THE FIRST CHAPTER OF THEIR STORY UPLOADED TO AO3 AND IM WORKING ON THE SECOND!!!

Buckle in cuz this is gonna be a long post lol

I’m not gonna reveal everything cuz there have to be some tricks up my sleeves, but I’m gonna be talking about major plot stuff that isn’t in the first chapter so, uh, spoiler warning also X3

OK!!!! SO MY MAIN CHARACTER BROOK IS BABEY AND I LOVE HER!!!! ABUSE TW THO CUZ BOY HOWDY THIS BABY TRAUMATIZED.

Basically the start of the story happens as she’s running away and escaping from her abusive household, this story takes place in a fantasy world so it’s more of a tower than a house but yk.

Her “mother” is this kind of just,,, awful person that basically just was using Brook as free labor. Like, she found Brook as a toddler literally abandoned by this little brook river thing and called her “Brook Child” because she couldn’t be assed to give her a proper name. There isn’t any actual physical hitting or anything to the abuse but god, if there isn’t just a buttload of neglect and verbal/psychological abuse going on. It’s not uncommon for Brook to have been locked in the basement for days on end without food because she did something wrong.

Brook physically is super scrawny because of this, like you can easily see her bones. She has CONSTANT, DEEP dark circles under her eyes that will probably never go away, and is often fatigued. She has a long scar going down one side of her face (her left, our right), caused by an incident with setting up chicken wire. Between her not knowing how to really deal with that kind of wound at the time and the fact that she’s constantly malnourished, it left a pretty noticeable scar

ALSO FUN FACT BROOK IS AROACE CUZ YIPPEE REPRESENTATION!!!!

After she runs away her plan is to get a few supplies so she can go live on her own because the only real experience she has with other people is her “mother” and just really wants to not be around people who she thinks are going to hurt her… uuunfortunately for her she ends up being peer pressured by a merchant into buying an enchanted dagger that uses up basically ALL OF HER MONEY SHE SAVED UP.

Said dagger comes with a prophecy and is, surprise! Sentient! Yeah so now basically she’s forced to go on this quest now! No living alone in the woods in peace for her! She ends up naming the dagger Willow because of a beautiful willow tree engraving at its base and for the fact that it’s handle is modeled after a winding tree trunk (with THOUSANDS of engraved TINY little symbols and glyphs and spells and the like that looks a lot like tree bark!)

Willow uses she/it pronouns because yes! The engravings that are so tiny you can barely see and make them out is what makes Willow sentient! It’s VERY complex spellwork and may have taken even over a lifetime to create! She is very well crafted :)

She is also VERY blunt. Willow doesn’t understand the complexities of like… softening the blow of its words, so it doesn’t even really try lol. Basically it’s like “ah yeah, you are my wielder so you ARE the one from the prophecy, there’s not any getting out of it, let’s go!”

Willow’s one purpose is to complete the prophecy and is ultimately loyal to Brook till the end because of this. Unfortunately, Willow will sometimes bend the rules Brook set for the greater good of completing the quest. (During their first meeting Brook set the ground rules of no killing, and no hurting people unless absolutely necessary.)

During like, the first few hours after she leaves the trade town she fled to to go get this quest over with she gets jumped by this like 7 foot dude in black armor. This is Quincy.

I love him because there are… a lot of complexities with him lol

Without getting into huge spoiler territories, basically, where he comes from, the prophecy is told differently to the point of where Brook is made out to be the villain of the story. He is trying to protect his family and his home. When scouting her out, he is surprised to see that she’s basically just a kid, but decides to go through with the attack anyways as an attempt to stop the prophecy from being fulfilled.

Brook doesn’t know about this rendition of the prophecy.

So basically he attacks Brook, and Brook tries to reason with him to the absolute best of her ability. Quincy, however, is not open to conversation at that point. With willow’s guidance, she ends up killing him.

She is stunned by this. She watches as he bleeds out on the ground and turns to Willow.

She’s like “we agreed on no killing, this guy looks pretty dead to me!!!” (She’s obviously more panicked than this in the actual story lol)

Willow is like “ok ok fine hold me near him give me a second.”

A fun fact about Willow is that she can act as a channel for magic, and use her wielder’s supply. So when Willow uses a spell, the spell treats Brook as the caster even though Willow is effectively the one to have cast the spell.

This is important because, well, Willow uses NECROMANCY. A FORBIDDEN SPELL. ONE THAT IS FORBIDDEN FOR A GOOD REASON.

In this world, when someone is brought back through the use of necromancy they get revived, yes. BUT THEY ALSO BECOME TRAPPED INSIDE THEIR OWN BODIES AS THEYRE PUPPETED AROUND BY THE CASTER. This tactic was used a LOT in wars before it was outlawed btw, just some world building dont mind me :)

Yeah so basically when under the effects of Necromancy you just have to watch as your body has to follow whatever orders the caster gives you, whether you like it or not. Because it’s the spellcaster’s life force that’s inside of you.

(I have a WHOLE magic system thought out btw, magic is part of living being’s life force. Without it you basically starve. It’s like air and food and water, you NEED it to live, which is why Brook going on a quest to save it is such a big deal)

Obviously Willow is like “here, he should fight with us now :)” and brooks just there like “…” =n= because she knows something is off but she can’t put her finger on it yet but this guy is acting REALLY weird now.

Even being cooped up her hole life as she was, KNOWS THIS SPELL IS FORBIDDEN. So when she finds out it was used, she is rightly upset. She doesn’t know the FULL extent of the spell, she doesn’t know if he’s still THERE or if it’s just his corpse or WHAT, but she feels horrible about the situation and tries to give him as much kindness and freedom as she possibly can. Quincy cannot speak, but is later able to communicate better as he’s given more and more agency. (Given the right circumstances, he MAY be able to regain speech in the future ;) )

Over the course of this situation he kinda goes from absolutely despising Brook, to like “ok… this really is just a kid, I kinda feel really bad now” to “oh my god wait this kid is actually really sweet” to “this is my kid now”

He basically adopts Brook towards the end lol

Brook doesn’t really realize this is happening until about mid-way through the story when she goes to get firewood and says if anyone else in the group wants to they can come with her and he goes with her and she realizes she was addressing the whole group and that they can come if they WANT to. And then she just looks up at him and is like… “did you WANT to come with me?” And he just nods at her and she almost cries lol

I just love them, your honor. Quincy = dad of the year (iiif you get past the bit where he tried to kill Brook but yk lol)

OK NEXT WE HAVE SAM AND JOE!!! MY BOYS!!! THEY ARE BOYFRIENDS!!!!! THEY LOVE EACHOTHER!!!! RELATIONSHIP GOALS!!!

Sam is a wizard and Joe is a werewolf, they’re trying to find Joe’s tether (what will let him stay sane when transformed) they met with Joe in a dumpster and Sam trying to throw out that week’s trash from his apprenticeship <3

Joe comes from a loving family of werewolves and was born as one, his biggest fear is hurting his loved ones, which is why he was so desperate to find his tether. It’s also why he was rooting through wizard’s trashcans when Sam found him lol

They made a deal that Joe would stay out of trashcans (because of the dangerous chemicals and broken glass and stuff) if Sam would help him find his tether.

Sam didn’t actually like his apprenticeship. He was forced into it by his parents because he was “talented” and showed signs of developing into a talented wizard. He once loved performing magic, but being an apprentice stripped it of all of its fun. He neglected his work, causing him to fall behind, he is now self conscious and does not like it when people watch him cast spells.

Sam and Joe bonded over researching to find Joe’s tether and eventually fell in love. They both ran away not long after on a search for any more information they didn’t already have.

Also Joe is afraid of sheep :)

Kat is a ghost. She doesn’t remember her past, but she does remember waking up in the middle of the woods one day and never being able to find a way out. She had been alone for god knows how long before someone passed through (that being Brook, Willow, Quincy, Sam, And Joe) so obviously, she had to play a prank on them. GOLDEN opportunity for some entertainment.

Kat has claustrophobia (and because it’s never being revealed in the book I’ll reveal it here: she was buried alive. Framed for a crime she didn’t commit by someone in her adventuring group. The group’s agreed on punishment was for her to be buried alive and abandoned.) often getting flashbacks of suffocating, of cool dirt sticking to her face, muffling her screams and pleas for help.

Kat is very laid back and likes to make light of heavier situations with humor. She is a LOT smarter than she lets on, and has a very strong sense of moral justice. She also has a talent of apperating knives from her ghostly fog. She is very skilled at knife throwing.

Terra (Full name Terra Delah Etang) is a siren originating from Ckorplek, an underwater city found in the mesa reefs. She was a mighty warrior (arguably the strongest and most skilled with her voice) tasked with protecting her people’s most prized possession during an invasion. She dragged herself across the red sand, lake hopping for days before settling in a far off small pond-sized salt water body of water with a small island in the center. She would stay there for years protecting the item with her life. Unfortunately, Brook needs that item for her quest and Terra isn’t exactly willing to give it up.

Yeah they basically kidnap and gag her so she can’t make them kill themselves with her voice lol

They’re not just gonna leave her to die but they’re ALSO not gonna risk their lives letting her go free.

She is a reluctant party member, but as long as she’s with her people’s treasure and she’s able to make sure it’s safe, she isn’t super like… against it? Also they’re her only ticket back to her pond since they are basically wheeling her around in a red wagon full of water lol she still kinda hates them tho

Terra is super hotheaded and isn’t that forgiving of a person so it takes a while before she opens up lol

(She’s kind of like the boblin the goblin of the group in a way if you think about it lol)

Corey is half dead.

During his life, he took care of his mother and younger sister by going on quests and bringing back money. He would often ally with other adventurers to do this, and had a habit of only taking what his family needed of the rewards.

One day, on a quest to Dread Caverns- a cave system known for making your worst fears come to life- as they neared the center, where their prize was, he was betrayed.

Busted up in the fight, and with his head cracked open, he fell to the ground, left for dead, as the team he allied with ran off without him.

Fortunately for him, he landed on a healing potion he kept strapped to himself. Just in case. In the moments just after his heart stopped beating but just before his brain activity died, the glass pierced his skin, and the potion flowed into his body.

Because of this one in a billion timing, Corey was able to survive, subsisting mostly off of the world’s magic. He no longer has a heartbeat, and his left arm and leg no longer work, but he was alive, and stuck in dread caverns for about three years before Brook found him.

Corey has killed before in self defense. During his time In Dread Caverns many would come with the goal of killing him in mind, as rumors would spread of him being the reason the caverns were so dangerous.

Next is a reoccurring antagonist: Zeki.

They use She/They pronouns ;)

Zeki first appears after Dread Caverns in the story and is a well known infamous robber. She is known for kidnapping a member of her target group, and hypnotizing them to give her information and or infiltrate the group in order to easily incapacitate them. She smells of metal and is always followed by the sound of ticking clocks. She has multiple pocket watches hidden on her person at all times.

Zeki was originally the daughter of a prestigious family. They were expected to be perfect every second of every day, and were forced to learn parlor tricks to entertain guests. She would often sneak off into the middle of the night in order to destress and indulge in their true passion, whittling wood into beautiful sculptures. This went on for a long time before they were found out. All of her work was burned and destroyed, and she was cast out of the family with just the clothes on her back, and her grandfather’s pocket watch.

She almost starved before out of pure desperation they attempted one of the parlor tricks they learned. Light hypnosis. She managed to convince a passer by to give her some of their bread, and that was the beginning of their new life. Zeki would get more and more powerful every time they practiced.

Hypnosis only ever lasts from 3-5 days, but varies between that from person to person. Even after recovery, a person may relapse.

FINALLY!!! MY BOI!!!! CORVUS!!!

My lil plague doctor guy!!! I love him!!!

He never takes off his mask, he just doesn’t feel comfortable with it. The only reason he would take it off ever would be to clean it (even then, he makes sure nobody is around) or during a medical emergency.

Corvus is an actual, trained doctor! Which is part of the reason that Zeki decided to keep him as a part of their hypnotized entourage.

He is a sweet and caring guy, and just wants what’s best for everyone! No dark backstory for him other than being a part of Zeki’s crew for a bit, he’s just a lil guy! :3

ARGH i'm shyyyy 👉👈 well one thing i really like about my writing is that i think i'm pretty good at avoiding too many repetitions and finding words thaat match the exact feeling i want to convey with what i'm writing. and i also really like how poetic i can be in some passages, especially when describing characters' longing for each other eheheheh okAY enough or i'll make myself blush

🍦 What’s the sweetest fic you’ve created so far?

skfjhsgfgs i think the entirety of 'satin and lace' as a series - because it's literally just hopeless romanticism injected in my veins everytime i reread it, and it felt the exact same as i was writing it - and, well, i hope it felt like that to my readers too <3 it's just sososo sweet and full of love and UGH i miss my stupid idiot husbands </3333

😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

mmmm i think mostly moments where alex is being a teasing bastard, like the Croissant Scene TM in my venice fic (iykyk), and basically the entirety of 'give me all your love so i can fill you up with hate' - because when i write that kind of teasing dynamic between them (and especially when it's alex being a menace to society) i really want readers to feel as frustrated as poor miles, having to endure alex's insufferable slut behavior <3

and now one of my choosing, let me think about it........

⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?

there's my infamous vampire!fic, which i still hope i can actually turn into something concrete one day - i loved the premise, loved the aesthetic i pictured for it, loved a particular oc i created, loved the dynamic alex and miles had... and i had like 75 pages of it ready in my drive, but it was just not passing the vibe check, yknow? i wrote it during summer 2021 and almost finished it, but idk, for some reason i find my writing has such a better quality during the colder seasons skgjshgh it was just very ??? meh. even if i did decide to salvage it, i'd have to completely rewrite it. who knows, maybe one day i'll give it another chance

and then there's this cute little one-shot set pre/during taotu era that i started writing on a whim, and i find myself coming back to it much more frequently than i'd like to admit - because it's so close to being posting material, i'd just have to make some changes and edits here and there... add some bits and pieces... and it'd be ready to be posted. and it's very cute and very fluffy, but somehow i never get round to actually finishing up those last few touches and it's just been sitting in my drive for almost a year now, poor thing skfhsgf

AAAAA OMG YOU'RE IN FOR A TREAT!! thank you for asking!!

Bulletproof Bandits is a story inspired by Shout At the Devil by Mötley Crüe and Danger Days by My Chemical Romance, and is set in both a fallout scenario and a cyberpunk utopia. The reason why these two very different sceneries can coexist is because there are two cities: Rhinestone City, which was bombed during a war and there was a nuclear powerplant incident, and Liberty City, built after the war was over.

Rhinestone City, or Hazardville, as some would call it, is infested by mutants: plants, animals, people, you name it, everyone and everything got infected by radiation. Meanwhile, Liberty City is a hyper-technologic utopian city, where nothing is as it seems!! In fact, there is an underground lab where the scientists create new weapons everyday (i dont really know what their objective is, maybe the city is at constant war like in orwell's 1984? but i dont have the time to think about it now lol) and citizens to populate liberty city. that's right, they produce humans, and they have a device in their brain that take over their minds.

and now, this is where the characters i made to fit in this car crash come to play:

Russell: now, this fucking guy. this fucking guy is ruining my life lmao. He's the protagonist of the story and a bastard who everyone seem to love. he has more issues than cosmopolitan and could beat your ass in unarmed combat and you would be GLAD

Dylan: co-protagonist and Russell's bff. he's a chaotic ray of sunshine and wants to fuck Russell so bad it makes him look stupid. he also could destroy you in unarmed combat but he literally has zero anger so he won't do it

Frankie: a deviant from liberty city that will be saved from being executed from russell and dylan. fashion icon. mental illness king (gn)

Viktor: the Dad(TM) of the gang. had to watch his family get taken away from him. tall motherfucker with bionic legs

Good morning, Zak! Fairytales are usually read at night before bed but oh well sometimes you gotta break tradition.

So first off, you really nailed that fairytale feel of the first few paragraohs and I adore it so much!! It's not just adding "once upon a time", the enture beginning feels like I could find it written a book of old fairytales somewhere.

Second of all hehe repetition my beloved I'm eating well today. I already mentioned "once upon a time", but the repetition of them looking for each other is great too. Great job retelling the plot of Looming Nightmare so well!!!

Ria's tail squeezing Luke's leg like how she'd squeeze his hand aaaaa so much has changed but some things will always stay the same this is why I love childhood friends so much.

Aha whaat no way is there a story where the only ending is suffering haha :')

Love how in canon Tears of Themis Luke the new stuff Luke and mc have to get the hang of is suddenly feeling flustered at things they used to do all the time when they were kids and here it's girlfriend dragon now cgjcgkc

Luke is so right they're cowards draconic traits are one of the absolute best things characters can ever have it makes them look so pretty!!

Luke the most supportive boyfriend in the world he's just so supportive of all Ria's new draconic traits and instincts i love them both so much.

Thank you so much for writing this and also _seventastic for creating that gorgeous fanart!!! Characters with traits of mythical creatures are my biggest weakness in the world so dragon mc is just so, so good and I adore this au so much. Why'd Looming Nightmare have to end like that, why couldn't it at least be bittersweet :( but yes this fluff was exactly what I needed, it was so cute and I adored it so much. As always, I look forward to the next chapter of this when it comes out!

im so glad u enjoyed the first bit of the chapter!! that was deffo the feeling i tried to evoke, just with much less archaic sayings/sentence structures. it was also kinda based on a minific i wrote here of the exact same card, but when it had just dropped on the cn server and we didnt know the story yet, just saw the images. im just a sucker for the fairytale vibe

and also im a sucker for repetition HSDVFJKHSDF on some level i was like "hm, ok, i think theres way too much repetition than is strictly speaking Necessary in this chapter" but then i was also like "but it makes me happy. so it stays."

and YEEEAA i rlly wanted to parallel their experiences cuz when i read looming nightmare, i was also looking for that like...clearer didactic framing of what they both went thru cuz it was all there! but since mc's story in the card only gets mentioned towards the end, it didnt get much time to shine.

(sidenote: this fic is actually gonna be me writing a bunch of what i wish we got to hear from mc in that story. as much as i love luke (i do, you all know i do So Much) among the many qualms i had with the card is that mc is a focal point in the plot but also so incredibly absent. we dont even hear (or rather, read) her speak.

well, shes gonna be speaking a lot in this fic as the chapters go on HVAJKHSFVAKJ)

you and i and every other person who got their heart crushed by what actually happened in looming nightmare: huh? sorry? wdym?? THAT DIDNT HAPPEN

and YESS HEHE the whole "gimmick" (i cant think of a better word to articulate this concept with?) of this fic was also inspired by the current event!! luke and mc adjusting to new things!!! theyre so cute and they love each other so much but thers gonna be a lot of awkward moments and learning curves and support along the way. also magic. cuz magic is so goddamn fun to write JHVDKJFHS

lastly, i adore dragons. so much. theres this fic, my dragon!marius fic, and also in three different fandoms ive been in in the past, i wrote 1 fic each where i turned a character into a dragon-hybrid of some sort.

this fic makes Five Fics Zak Has Written Where He Turns A Character Into A Dragon-Hybrid Of Sorts thus far

i just really dragons. im gonna keep writing this trope over and over in different iterations and nobody can stop me, HAHA

Woah. How did I make it here? I am speechless. If you told me a year ago that I’d be here still on simblr and posting things I wouldn’t have believed you! I honestly didn’t believe in myself when I made this and thought I’d get no where. I was just doing it for fun! Now, I’ve actually gotten somewhere with this (sorta) and it has been an absolute pleasure to watch my characters develop and think of different things I want to do. This whole thing has been an absolute blast!

I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for everything! Words cannot describe how grateful I am. Each and everyone of you mean loads to me!
