SEASON 4 COMING IN HARD WITH THAT SWEET, SWEET FREENOODLES CONTENT, YO!
I knew this episode was going to be gay when I took a sneaky peaky at the episodes when they aired in China, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS GOING TO BE THIS GAY!!
I wanted to hold off on talking about it until tomorrow, but I can't help it. I need to get this out of my system.
First off: It is so sweet how the moment Tang is struggling and feeling dejected, he starts thinking of Pigsy and wishes he was there.
"Oh, Pigsy... Where are you?"
He's stressed, and sad and who does he think of? Pigsy, that's who.
2: "I'm your Tangy"
ARE YOU F-ING SERIOUS WITH THAT?! THAT IS SO... SAJKDLFJKE
Look at his face! He uses his affectionate nickname! It's so f-ing cute I can't even.
3: "I have devoted my life to this man..."
YEAH, YOU SURE HAVE, HAVEN'T YOU, TANG?
I can't explain the noise I made when he said this line. I had to go back and rewatch it just to make sure I didn't mishear it. Yup, he just said that.
I'm sorry, but if you say you've "devoted your life" to someone, then that relationship is almost 100% more than just FRIENDSHIP. I mean sure, you can ABSOLUTELY say that about friends, if you want, but I mean... come on. It's *them*
So, congrats to them on that confirmed marriage.
4: THAT LITTLE WIGGLE AND HUM OF HAPPINESS FROM TANG!!
The hum and happy noise he makes when he nuzzles Pigsy at the end is just so f-ing cute. He just loves his pig husband so much.
(Yes, Ik I've made this gif before, but I wanted a higher-quality version of it, so here you go).
5. HIGH QUALITY (ish) IMAGE OF THIS FRAME YESSS
Yes, I also mentioned this one before, but this one shot fills my soul with so much joy I can't NOT mention it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, but even though I'm not too into shipping in LMK, these two just get to me. I didn't even ship it at first, but season 3, and now season 4, really sold me on the relationship between these two.
Major pet peeve of mine that I'm seeing from the armored core community (particularly those new to AC) right now is the gendering of the mechs and robots. A lot of the true bosses in AC6 are autonomous defense weapons. They're machines built for conflict. They have no pilot. The Balteus, the Sea Spider, the Ibis/CEL240 are not he's. When you see one, you're meant to see it as just a machine, because there is NO humanity there. It gang rise up
Y'know, one of the common fakeclaiming accusations is that a system or person is just "roleplaying DID" (which is kind of a ridiculous thing to jump to when most of the folks receiving these accusations make no claim of having DID, but I digress), but honestly? I don't think I'd give a shit even if someone was roleplaying my disorder
Like, what's the worst that can happen? Oh no, they're educating themselves on what DID is like! Oh fuck, they're unlearning their biases against dissociative disorders! However shall the DID community recover from some random person deciding to portray DID in what's essentially a form of interactive improv, thus introducing it to more people in a neutral to positive light instead of the negative rep they probably would've come across?
This isn't "let's stick a class of students in a wheelchair for an hour so they end up thinking they perfectly understand all disabled experiences". These are casual actors who tend to put in more work to accurately portray something they don't personally experience than most professional actors I've seen. I don't give a shit if someone roleplays DID unless they're promoting the old serial killer stereotype or acting as if they're the ultimate authority on it. Hell, ask me questions about specific parts of it if you want tips on how to write it! Whatever! I don't care!
It's just. I get why it's seen as a negative thing. But I'd rather have people make some mistakes when roleplaying and cause some minor misinfo that I can work on combatting... than have more people out there whose only understanding of DID is as "the super ultra rare disorder that basically guarantees you're gonna suddenly turn evil one day".
It's free representation. Might as well help make sure it's as good as it can be.
Reading the In Trousers libretto honestly makes everything so much clearer. It's clearly indicated which songs are set in the past or the present, and which ones are abstractions and don't represent actual things that happened. And thinking of the songs in the intended order instead of the original cast recording's, adding the extra songs that were integrated in later versions of the musical, it loses a good bit of that "just vibes" energy that I've always associated with it. It still has all the ambiguous and strange lyrics but I feel like the purpose of each song is much clearer.
