yes i’m in America and the celeb culture here is crazy. idk about Bastille in particular and how their American fans act but from what i’ve seen/experienced in general is a major sort of entitlement when it comes to celebrities and their lives. it’s like people have to know anything and everything about them, follow them, bother them constantly. like you said they are just people but they are rarely treated like it. like with Taylor Swift for example, obv she’s a widely popular celebrity but people gathering outside her home just to catch a glimpse of her for just 1 second is crazy to me. but i’m glad the guys don’t have to deal with that kind of behavior (hopefully). and with their love lives and relationships, im actually baffled how they’re able to keep all that so under wraps lol

oh yeah ive seen the taylor swift stuff thats wild. i think it can depend on the fanbase and the type of people in it as well a bit, like i said the bas fanbase tends to be a bit older so i think thats why its a bit more chill and also cause its kind of small? i think some of the super intense fandoms comes from people being kind of competitive to see who the 'best' fan is, which i think can be more of a thing for younger fans looking to fit in or get approval from other people in the fanbase.

with their relationships and stuff i mean i dont think they keep it a secret or anything necessarily but theyre also in relationships with like 'normal' people (as in people not in a high-profile public-facing entertainment job) as far as i know so ig theres not much scope for celebrity gossip there lol

I think a lot of the meta about Orym forgets that Orym isn't just an adventurer, he is a former bodyguard. His self worth is tied up in how well he can protect people and especially his loved ones. Thats why he sold his future to a hag, because its all he had left to give in order to be able to help.

Thats also why he seems so angry after FCG's death.

Otohan has killed his husband and father. Then him. Then he is brought back and told she also killed Fearne and Laudna. She killed Eshteross. She almost kills Keyleth. Now FCG has to sacrifice himself to save them all and kill Otohan and Orym was knocked out for it.

His job is to protect people and even with the added power from Nana Morri, it's still not enough. 6 years later and his loved ones are still dying and he can do nothing but watch.

eiffel thought he had ruined the rest of his life before he'd even turned thirty. he probably spent his thirtieth birthday in jail. and then... for some number of days, weeks, maybe even a couple of months, he exists in this state of, well. of limbo. cutter gets him released from prison, and flies him out to canaveral. he doesn't speak to his family, obviously. they don't want to hear from him, and don't even know. he's still a prisoner, but no one around him knows that, either. at some point in this time frame, goddard first exposes him to decima, before hilbert even knows who he is. and he lives wherever goddard is accommodating him, and he has to go about his day-to-day life in this transitory state between a 26-year sentence he'd just started really grappling with, and the very immediate reality he's now about to be sent into deep space instead.

they give him a certain amount of freedom; it's not like he can go anywhere. he doesn't do much, anyway, is not feeling appreciative for his momentary second chance at life, given the circumstances. he blows off most of his mission training, and they're surprisingly lax about that, which in retrospect probably should have been a sign. he sits around and smokes, mostly. gets takeout food. but he goes to see movies, as much as he can. as much as he wants to punish himself, he needs to do something, or he'll go crazy, and it's not like he'll get a chance to see a movie in a long time. he was already resigning himself to maybe never going to a movie theater again.

the film adaptation of les misérables was released in december 2012. it's entirely feasible it could've been one of the movies he saw in this time period. i think the idea adds some resonance to his shared reference with minkowski in the finale, at least, in the way it pulls things full circle. intentionally or otherwise. and, incidentally, the 2012 film adaptation of les misérables, a story that notably features an ex-convict protagonist seeking redemption, was released on december 25th. call that serendipity.

Last Twilight Ending Reaction

As someone who can't see without a strong prescription, I really felt connected to Day's struggle. How his vision was shown is like mine but with that extra level of fuzzy. I can't see further than a palm's distance either. The longer the show went on, the more I noticed myself in the way Day did certain things - like leaning in way too close to see things and patting his hand around to find an item he knows is around there somewhere.

Obviously Day was worse than me. I put on my glasses every morning and go about my day. I don't need a caretaker. But without my glasses, we are so similar.

So I spent a good portion of the show wondering why the heck Day didn't get glasses for the time he was waiting on a potential surgery. They never explained that glasses wouldn't work for him, so it seems like a logical step to try.

Because of this, and because corrective eye surgery is actually so common, I walked into this show on day 1 fully ready to accept an ending where Day got his eye surgery and was able to see again.

We spent 12 episodes following Day's journey of learning to accept himself as he was, disability or not. He learned how to love his life, how to care more about the people around him, how to appreciate the things around him - not just what he could see. He gained a new understanding of who he was and what he needed to be happy.

Episode 12 has whole speeches about how going blind is the only reason Day knows how to be happy and what he truly wants out of life. This a beautiful message that we got throughout the whole series. He was loved when he was blind. He was loved when it seemed he would stay that way forever. He accepted himself and loved himself. And he was still loved when he got his sight back. He became a better person.

So to come online and see the absolute vitriol being thrown around like somehow this ending ruins the entire series, like somehow him getting a very realistic eye surgery to correct damage done in an accident erases all the character growth and the message of loving yourself, finding people who love you regardless of illness or disability, and appreciating the world around you....

It's really ruining the show for me. Day's surgery didn't do that. The fans are doing that.

Day getting his sight back does not erase his experience as a blind person. Just like a cast and pt doesn't erase your experience with a broken leg. Just like time and healing doesn't erase your experience with traumatic brain injuries. Just like getting a prosthetic doesn't erase the experience of losing a limb.

Like, damn. Someone get me some eye surgery pronto. It still won't change the last 27 years of my life.

And to suggest that bad things should happen to the director for such a choice is a really terrible thing to do.

When I saw Day looking at Mhok while they knelt by Rung's grave, I felt overwhelmed with emotion, because Day has been wanting to see clearly for so long and here he was, staring lovingly at his boyfriend - the boyfriend who chose to be with him despite everything. I thought it was beautiful.

And all these haters are really making it hard to even search for gifs. I wanted to roll around in the joy and emotion of the episode, but there are too many people treating it like a god damned funeral protest.

Vittoria is a dove. She often has visions that predict something good happening to her or those around her. She is known as the swindler of the family. By the age of three she learned Gomez would do anything for her, and thats how she ended up with a designer wardrobe for Christmas. She learned the “Enid Face” from Leo, which is a very secret pout that Wednesday cannot refuse. Leo only did this once in his life, he finds it demeaning to stoop to begging. She is a very talented pick pocketer, it seems to come naturally to her to find and sniff out a credit card with the highest limit as Gomez would come to find out. He’s always amused though.

Vittoria loves Disney movies, she will never grow out of it. Tangled is her favorite and she often asks Wednesday to style her hair in one long braid like Rapunzel in the movies.

Naenia is a raven, and her visions are physically exhausting. They’re usually of something dangerous or bad happening, which is why she’s the braincell. Often times she’ll have a vision and save Vittoria or Leonidas from themselves. Her visions cause her physical pain like headaches and are extremely vivid, often times she needs to rest afterwards somewhere quiet. Usually her family will tend to her while she’s recovering.

Naenia moves uncannily quietly, she has a habit of just popping up behind people, even as a toddler. She’d crawl around silently and scare Enid to death by just appearing somewhere she hadn’t been before.

As Naenia grows up she uses sign language to communicate with people outside of family, she finds it much easier than speaking and quicker than writing. She learned from Thing, and her siblings were quick to follow along because helping Naenia find more ways to communicate that she’s comfortable with is important to them. She’s comfortable around her family, but not other people. She’s not a fan of people. Mostly animals. She’d save a spider over a person.

When the girls first went to school, they were mostly excited to see Leonidas, they would always wait for him to come home from school so they could play with him. They would come with Wednesday to pick him up from the bus stop as often as they could. Vittoria is especially excited to make friends and Naenia is excited for the library.

Naenia is nervous about the loud crowds so Leonidas walks them to class (not like he wouldn’t do that anyway) on their first day. They soon find out everyone is afraid if Leonidas (he has a bit of a reputation, nothing that can be legally proven but a reputation) and that makes it easier for Naenia to handle so many people, since the whole hall will clear not to touch Leonidas. So, Leonidas walks them to class every day. He calls them blood sucking parasites while silently daring anyone to come within six feet of them.

Compared to the twins, who barely scrape past three feet, Leonidas grows rapidly. He is the tallest kid in his grade at 5’3. He sort of looks like a giant following them around the halls scowling at everyone.

Vittoria loves school, she makes friends very easily and becomes very popular within the school. Mostly because she rides in a limo and brings candy for everyone in her class, Vittoria likes spending money on others too. Sharing wealth with people is something Gomez taught her, so she often uses her allowance (and her pout) to get things for her class. She’s the reason the school’s playground got upgraded (she called Gomez at three am). She traded Morticia’s spot as favorite grandparent. Even though she’s one of the youngest kids, she’s still extremely popular. She talks to everyone, is very friendly to everyone, and loves participating in class. She struggles with the academic portion, Vittoria doesn’t really enjoy math or writing or history. She likes drawing and gossiping, and pretending to act out scenes of Tangled where she duels kids with frying pans. Often, Naenia will steer her back to working when she gets distracted being chatty or social.

Naenia doesn’t make friends quite as easily as her twin, her limited speaking is a factor but Naenia had never been a social person outside of her family regardless. Aside from the loud noises, the memes she doesn’t understand, and the cafeteria food, Naenia loves learning and school is something she excels in at an early age. She especially likes that her teacher lets her go to the library if shes feeling overwhelmed, and even lets Vittoria go. She usually stays close to Vittoria and by proxy, makes friends because of her sister. Most people are nice to her because of Vittoria, but she’s fine with that because it means she doesn’t have to explain herself to anyone. The other kids are usually very nice to her though, some even try to learn sign language and she held little sessions after school with Vittoria. It’s one of few times she didn’t want to leave a social setting after an hour.

Because of her crippling side effects of her visions, Naenia wears gloves everywhere outside to refrain from touching something directly. She also does not touch people or like people touching her. If she has visions in school, Wednesday comes to pick her up without fail.

Vittoria: This is my twin Nia! She likes to be called Naenia, she doesn’t talk much but she writes super spooky stories. Okay she doesn’t like a lot of people crowding her so let her read, shoo! Lets go play ninjas, warlocks, and princesses!

Leonidas is fairly infamous in the school for getting expelled from four others, there are plenty of rumors about it and despite being outwardly inviting, Leonidas is not friendly to most. Most of the rumors floating around are exaggerated, but he doesn’t correct them. After getting into one altercation with a boy who tried to touch him and ending up suspended for punching him as hard as he could, most people don’t speak to Leonidas and avoid directly touching him. He finds school to be a waste of his time, and hard to sit through. Though he gets good grades, Leonidas will often finish work early and get bored. Sitting still is not his strong suit, and especially in school it leads to trouble. His patience starts with Naenia and ends with Vittoria, so he has trouble getting along with other students. People outside of his family often annoy him.

Vittoria teases him because he “doesn’t know how to make friends”.

Leonidas does eventually make one friend, a human boy he defends from bullies named Adisa. Leonidas just thought they were loud and now this boy with a tuba too big for him sits next to him and talks to him about things he doesn’t understand every time they have music, or lunch, or PE. Like “texting” and “sleepovers” and “video games”

Leonidas denies the fact that they’re friends but never tells him to sit somewhere else because “everyone else is a worse option.”
