♡A message from your higher self ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
P I L E O N E ~ P I L E T W O ~ P I L E T H R E E
Take what resonates and leave the rest
Tumblr media
P I L E O N E : ♡ Don't Give Up On Yourself ♡
Three of Swords, The Sun (Reversed), Six of Pentacles, Nine of Pentacles
Bottom of the Deck: Three of Wands (Reversed)
I know that you have been through heartbreaking times that have made you feel as though you would never see the other side of things. You have felt that you have been at a standstill, with no kind of progression in your life. There are things that are happening in the 5D world that have not come into the 3D world yet. Please stay patient. Stay strong. Right now is the best time to take care of yourself. Focus on your inner child and doing things that make you happy and make you feel warm. I'm hearing something about cozy video games (I love those, too) and also bubble baths! You are going to receive help soon that will lead to you to your success! There is also a message of be kind to yourself when it comes to the way that you speak to yourself. You deserve love and support for yourself!
Channeled Song: Treat Myself by Victoria Justice
I need to treat myself better // I know I can't be so unkind // I know that I deserve better // If only you could hear what goes on in my mind // I wouldn't say the things I do to anybody else // So, why's it okay to say to myself // I need to treat myself better than I do//
P I L E T W O : ♡ Forgive Yourself ♡
Six of Pentacles, Three of Pentacles, Five of Cups, Temperance
Bottom of the Deck: Seven of Swords
Your higher self wants the message to start of by saying that they are just so dang proud of you! There is a version of yourself that you used to be that you weren't very proud of. In the past you may have had to do things that aren't aligned with who you are now. You aren't that person anymore though and your higher self is calling on you to finally give yourself some grace and forgiveness. You have worked so hard to get to this point and you have had to face many disappointments. You have found the balance that you have been working toward and have found a peace that you never thought could be yours. I keep hearing that message of "I'm so proud of you" and it's not just from your higher self but from maybe someone who has passed away and is on the other side, watching over you. This is someone who has seen you at your lowest and who feels so grateful that they got to watch you rise from the ashes like the phoenix they always knew you were. You have come so far. Be proud of the work that you have done. You deserve all the good things that have and will come to you.
Extra Message: It's on the way and it's going to be better than anything you could have imagined. (I don't know what this means but if it resonates with you, please take this message.)
P I L E T H R E E : ♡ You found me when no one else was looking ♡
The Star, Five of Wands, Five of Cups, Six of Cups, Page of Swords, Two of Cups
Bottom of the Deck: Ace of Swords
You are no stranger to disappointment, betrayal and heartache. I can feel that you have been through a lot but despite it all, you never lost hope. Your faith stayed strong through it all. You fought through your battles with your head held high. You found your joy through it all. You are such an inspiration to the people in your life and anyone that hears your story. People are amazed at your kindness despite all that you have been through. You may have met or will meet your soul family through sharing your story and even come into union with your soulmate/divine counterpart/twin flame. The person that you are attracting is going to be able to open up to you in ways that they never have before. It will surprise them in a good way. You are just what this person needs. I'm hearing wedding bells, white dress and banquet so if that resonates, please take that message.
I'm hearing "you are so beautiful" over and over again so this is definitely conformation that someone has a romantic person coming in and it will be life changing.
Channeled Song: You Found Me by Kelly Clarkson
You found me when no one else was looking // How did you know just where I would be? // You broke through all of my confusion // the ups and the downs and you still didn't leave // You found me//

Done waiting
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw x fem!reader
Word Count: 1621
Warnings: Very self-indulgent, major insecurities, lots of fluff/comfort
A/N: I really appreciate the support on the other Rooster fics I've been posting--you guys are making it fun to post! This is based on a post that tumblr won't let me link, though I think it was originally intended to have a more goofy tone, so my apologies. Nonetheless, I enjoyed writing it! Without further ado, here you go!
You had been best friends with Rooster since you met in the Top Gun program. Somewhere along the line, you’d fallen in love with him. If you were someone else, you might have told him. However, you were well aware that he couldn’t feel the same, so you never said anything.
It was easier to ignore after Top Gun, when you were both on distant assignments and only able to text or call occasionally. Now, summoned back to Top Gun, for a mission they wouldn’t tell you about until you arrived, you were terrified. For yourself, sure, but also for Rooster. The fear for him was what had your feelings threatening to bubble over.
You needed to get it under control tonight, before the training started. Unfortunately, Rooster was making that difficult.
“Hey, are you okay, Hawk?” The man himself nudged your shoulder, snapping you back to awareness
“Yeah, sorry. Just thinking.” You flashed a tight smile before taking a swig of your drink.
“‘Bout what?”
“They’ve called us all back here. It’s gotta be something serious, I just can’t figure out what.”
“I’m sure they’ll tell us tomorrow. No sense in worrying just yet.”
“Who said I was worried, Roose?”
“Please, I know you. Your eyebrows draw together here,” he said, lifting his hand to touch the spot between them, “and they lift just a little.”
“It’s that obvious, huh?” you chuckled.
“Just to me.” Rooster’s half-smile matched yours. “C’mon, let’s go for a walk. We can catch up.”
“So, how was overseas? Meet anyone special?” you asked once you were out of the Hard Deck.
He laughed, leaning into you to stay upright. “No, no, nothing like that.”
“Oh, I find that hard to believe, big guy. They weren’t swooning over your every flex?” you teased.
“I’ll have you know I don’t just go around flexing.”
“Mmhmm, whatever you say.”
“What about you, then?” Rooster grinned, raising an eyebrow at you.
“What about me?”
“Meet anybody lately?”
“Nah, that was never my thing.” You brushed it off, dropping your gaze. You hadn’t had anyone interested in you before, and you weren’t going to start moping about it now. Certainly you weren’t planning to tell Bradley anything about it. Instead, you turned it back to him once again. “Really? No crushes, no dates, nothing?”
“Well, I…” It was his time to duck his head, catching your attention. “Not--”
“Uh uh, what was that?”
“What was what?” He turned toward you, stopping in the sand.
“You hesitated! There’s definitely someone.” Despite your teasing, his clear interest in someone hit you like a punch in the gut.
“Who said there was someone?” he deflected.
“Please, I know you,” you parroted his words from earlier.
“Fine, alright,” he admitted with a sigh. “There is someone I like.”
“Ooh, and the whole Navy is full of broken hearts for it.” Your heart was among them. “When did that start? Have you said anything to them?”
“I’ve been dropping the most insanely obvious hints for a few years now.” He started walking again, his shoulders drooping ever so slightly before he spoke again. “No response from her.”
“Ok, but what you think is obvious isn’t always actually obvious. You’re sure she would pick up on it?” Quietly, you told yourself that Rooster was your best friend. If this was how he would be happy, you resigned yourself to helping him win over his mystery crush.
“Phoenix said she could see it from a mile away.”
“You told Phoenix before me?” That stung.
“No, she saw it happen. Came up to me to tease me afterward.” It stung less, but the ache in your chest didn’t lessen with it.
“She sounds a little stupid, no offense.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “No, not stupid. She’s quite smart, actually. Just a bit dense.”
The undeniable fondness in his voice hurt. You had never been under any illusion that he would be interested in you. Bradley was so far out of your league in every way that mattered. Given time, you knew you would get better at acting. Perhaps you would even get past your feelings for him.
“Maybe you just need to be more obvious?” you suggested.
“How would I do that?”
“I don’t know, maybe just say it to her. Maybe ‘Hey, I love you,’ or something like that.”
“Not a bad idea,” he acknowledged before turning to address you by your name. Your real name, not your callsign. “Hey, I love you.”
“Exactly like that.” You swallowed the hurt of knowing he wouldn’t ever mean that about you no matter how much you wished he would. “Now just tell it to her. And let me know how it goes.” You bumped his shoulder with yours.
“Wow.”
“And y’know, if she still doesn’t get it, she’s too dumb for you, Roose.”
He said your name again.
You wished he would stop. Stop making you melt with just his voice. Stop making you feel things you knew better than to feel. Stop making you wonder if he might just reciprocate. Stop making you wish for what might be.
“What?”
“Do you really not know?” he asked, his face scrunching in confusion.
“Know what? You’re not making any sense.”
“Hawk, it’s you. I love you.”
You laughed incredulously and something like anger grew in his face. Still, you shook your head as you started off down the beach again. “No, no you don’t.”
He stood there for a second, stunned, before jogging after you. “What the hell do you mean I don’t?”
“I mean you don’t love me. You can’t…” You cut yourself off, trying not to cry. “You can’t love me.”
The anger in his face creased into concern when he heard the sob you choked off. His arms opened, reaching for you. You went to him without hesitation, wrapping your arms around him as you tried to force your shoulders not to shake. His hand held the back of your head, keeping you secure against him. Bradley’s breathing was deep and even, something you used to slow your own gasping breaths. He held you for a long minute, even after you calmed.
“Why can’t I love you?” he asked quietly.
“Why would anyone?” you returned his question with another. “Especially you. You’re… everything--brilliant, talented, funny, gorgeous, kind, everything--and I… I’m just me. You could have anyone you wanted and I just don’t see how you could want me.”
He squeezed you tighter for a minute before he pulled back to look at you. You avoided his gaze, still sniffling a little. His hand moved to your chin, gently encouraging you to lift your head. After a moment, you did, bringing your eyes to his briefly.
“Sweetheart, I--”
You cut him off with a hand over his mouth. “If you’re going to keep talking, I want you to be sure you mean it. I had a guy ask me out as a joke once and I don’t think I could handle it if you did that to me too.”
Bradley took hold of your wrist, moving your hand so it rested over his heart. “I promise you, I would never do that.” He waited for you to nod before he continued. “I do love you. I have since you gave me that old record.”
“Really? That was all the way back when we were in Top Gun.” When you chuckled weakly, his lips tilted up into a half-smile.
“Yeah. I’ve been trying to work up to asking you out since then. Better late than never, I guess.”
“Technically, you still haven’t.” You might have winked at him if you didn’t still feel raw. As it was, you managed a teasing tone that broadened his grin.
“You’re absolutely right. Allow me to rectify that mistake.” Bradley tucked a loose piece of hair behind your ear. This time when he said your name, delicious shivers ran down your spine. “Let me take you on a date?”
“I’d like that. I’d like that a lot.”  You felt warm as he looked at you in the moonlight. Perhaps it was the reflection of that light that seemed to glow in his eyes that made you braver. “I love you too, Bradley.”
“Yeah?” Shyness colored his tone--a rarity for him.
“Since you found me that time on the beach. You know which one.” You smiled, watching his hazel eyes. “I… I’m sorry for earlier. I shouldn’t have laughed.”
“Hey, no, it’s okay. I understand,” he reassured immediately. “I wish you knew how amazing you are, but until then, can you trust me to believe it for both of us?”
“There’s no one on this earth I trust more than you,” you said, your gaze turning a little uncertain after a moment. “You might have to remind me once in a while, though.”
He pulled you back into his chest, pressing a kiss to the top of your head before leaning his cheek there. “I’ll remind you as often as you need for as long as you let me.”
You were fighting tears again, this time wondering how you had possibly gotten so lucky. Bradley didn’t say anything, just held you close. He let you be the one to pull back, and you tucked yourself into his side for the walk back to his car.
“So, about that date,” you started, grinning up at him. “What are you thinking?”
“Well, I was thinking we could make dinner, get ice cream, the whole nine yards.”
“When are you gonna pick me up, sunshine?”
“Same as always, sweetheart,” he squeezed you closer by the shoulders, kissing your forehead. “6 sharp from the locker room after whatever their training is tomorrow.”
“I can’t wait.”
“Me neither.”

Here's something interesting I would like to present to the court... But,
Before I go off, I would like to remind everyone what the magatama does.
3. It allows the user to see/read people's hearts.
2. It automatically reacts to people who have secrets within their hearts.
And 3. Allows its user to visualize(psyche-locks) how closely kept that secret is and how close they are to finding the truth(shown by the psyche-locks breaking)
There is just... One thing that bothers me.
When Pearl explains how to use the magatama, she says something that... Piques my interest.
"You must be careful, though, Mr. Nick. If you make a mistake, it will hurt you. If you don't think you have the proof you need, you must have the courage to stop."
When you present the wrong evidence, it takes one bar off your "health," and this lines of dialogue appear:
Tumblr media
"Ouch?"
It seems like it actually hurt Phoenix, huh?
It's even more supported by what he says next:
Tumblr media
Hurt.
What does "hurt" mean? Does it mean hurt physically? Mentally? Spiritually?
Here's what I personally think:
Whenever he makes a mistake, his heart gets hurt. In less cryptic words, mentally.
I mean, he is reading someone else's heart. It's only fair if his heart is vulnerable, too, right?
Of course, I have something that backs up my claim pretty nicely.
I would like to present this line of dialogue that you get if you fail enough times:
Tumblr media
"Your soul will shatter?"
Shatter... I wish Pearls had gone into more detail about what that meant. That's bothering me quite a bit...
What I personally think the meaning of this is...
Well, the best way I can describe it is... An equivalent to dying.
To elaborate, I first need to present a few options of what a soul can mean/be. And it can be quite a few things, such as:
an immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life
a spiritual principle embodied in human beings
a person's "total self"
the moral and emotional/sentimental nature of human beings
I personally think, again, starting my sentence with "think" and "personally" because I have no evidence to support this claim—
Pearls refers to the "soul" as the embodiment of someone's emotions and morals.
When it shatters, that person loses all that made them. (A neat fic idea just came to me...)
That would make the most sense. To me, anyway.
Could you imagine? A lawyer trying to get a secret out from you and continuously failing to present evidence that supports his claims. Eventually, that man drops dead. His soul shattered.
I guess that raises the risk and stakes, but...
Sigh. I wish we get to see what a "soul shattering" looks/feels like, but alas, Pearls is always somehow there to stop that from happening. Even when she is not nearby.
Tumblr media
It most definitely has to do with Phoenix's mental state and health. I think this statement Pearls just gave us proves it, yeah?
Y'know, I could also tie this into what I said earlier— about what the "soul" of a person means here— which is the emotions of said person.
I guess I do have evidence to support my claim.
Tumblr media
He seems a little... Panicked? Frustrated here? He's probably leaning more towards frustration.
Well, in any case, afterward, the world fades away and returns to normal.
Going back in straight away starts Phoenix's health at its lowest, and failing again gets you the same dialogue... "Your soul will shatter."
I suppose he needs time to recover. After all, his... Heart? Soul? Sustained a lot of "damage."
...I wonder if "heart" and "soul" are the same thing?
Well, anyway, I wanted more evidence to build my case, so I looked into what Edgeworth says when he fails to break a psyche-lock.
But... It seems like the investigation led me to a dead end. Nothing Edgeworth says implies that he was in pain. Hurt when he presents the wrong evidence.
Failing too many times with Edgeworth gets you the same line shown above, just with a different name— "Mr. Edgeworth...If you push yourself any more, your soul will shatter...Please calm down, collect your thoughts, and try again..."
But a difference response to it. (Blast it...! I've made too many errors...!) However, I don't think I can make any connections with this...
I also looked into other times Phoenix has used the magatama, and again, came back with nothing able to help...
After coming back here with nothing further to add, I had even more questions than before.
Why does this particular line of dialogue stick out like a sore thumb? Did Phoenix just build a pain tolerance after that one? Was this detail forgotten or thrown away?
How does Pearl stop us from going any further? Specifically when she is not nearby... How is her voice still heard?
Are the "magatama sessions" forcefully canceled by her, or did Phoenix and Edgeworth back out on their own after hearing Pearl's words?
(I should note that it is undeniable that Pearls is speaking whenever Phoenix or Edgeworth fails too many times. I also have undeniable proof to back that up, too. "Mr. Nick." There is only one person who calls Phoenix that. Pearls. That is my proof.)
How did she know that Edgeworth had the magatama in his possession(and was currently using it) when Edgeworth had not told her? (Note: See Bridge To The Turnabout)
These are questions I have that I... Cannot answer. Unfortunately. If there are answers to this... I would like to know.
With that, I must end this analysis.
Man... I just don't have enough to go off of...
Oh, well. What do you guys think?

*cracks fingers* we need more lore
(Disclaimer I've been trying to keep up w/asks; but your pretty darn active (tytytytyty soo much for that!) and I might have missed something)
Assumption: vampires can enjoy food and not just liquids (otherwise our sis might be torturing us with the smell of cookies; ooooff) Is a vampires sense of taste also enhanced as it goes hand in hand with smell?
Assumption: Vampires can cry, is it normal tears in the game or blood? (Down for either tbh just curious at this point)
Is silver something a vampire or a werewolf should generally avoid? (Does it burn the skin, does it cause a unique reaction in their blood, does it somehow weaken them ect)
Werewolves; I do not believe anyone has asked what happens on a full moon? Is it just "a legend"? Do they have to transform that night? Or do they simply get grumpy, or anxious, or irritated, ect?
A lot of lore has elemental beings such as Phoenix's being weak of the climate of there opposite element(aka North Pole bad). Do Phoenix's experience this? Or is any race weekend by climate for that matter?
I am also assuming Phoenix's do not just...burst into flames and rebirth when very injured based on other questions about immortality/races/C?
Speaking of my favorite RO! How large is their bird form more or less? We know that the wolves are literally big enough to put a saddle on apparently; flames aside, would a Phoenix theoretically be able to carry a person? Even if its LoTR style eagles in claws?
Regarding the Shadow-Kin, are they more rogue/spy vibe....we talking full on DND assassin stabbystabby or more corporate espionage?
I’m always willing to give you more lore whenever I can! Of course, things are subject to change as I flesh things out, but I’ll try my best to give you most concrete ideas I have!
I enjoy interacting with you all as much as I can! It’s something that brings me tremendous joy, especially when you all include little blurbs about my characters and what you’re excited to see. I truly appreciate all the support that Midnight Sun has acquired. ❤️❤️❤️
Tumblr media
Vampires can enjoy food, not just liquids?
Correct. Though I wouldn’t say they enjoy it necessarily. Vampires can definitely eat human food but it doesn’t really do anything for them, and some vampires find the taste absolutely revolting or just muted so they don’t see the point of doing it. Most of the time, for the vamps that do eat human food, and actually wish to enjoy it (somewhat), and get sustenance from it, blood is added into the mix. So you’ll have things like blood cookies, or blood suckers (lollipops), and various other things.
Is a vampires sense of taste enhanced?
It is in a sense, but not in a way that you’d be able to pick out every single ingredient individually, which is another reason why the vampires that find human food revolting stay away from it. For the ones that don’t it just adds a little kick, but nothing that’d be considered detrimental to the “experience”.
Vampires can cry— is it normal tears or blood? Something else?
It’s actually broken down venom! As you’ve probably noticed a vampires venom is of great importance— not just because it’s the thing that changed them/keeps them still kicking, but it offers a lot of other bonuses that wouldn’t otherwise be available. Vampires, and the venom in a sense, try to copy humanity as closely as it can (with some obvious differences) due to the fact that humans used to be the main food source, it’d made hunting easier and blending in a smooth transition.
Hence vampires being able to “bleed” if a wound is deep enough. As the blood a vampire drinks not only satiates their hunger but it also flows through their veins to give a semblance of… being alive, I guess. It’s why if a vampire hasn’t fed in a while they start to turn colder (in a temperature sense), look a bit more pallid, and generally look a bit worse for wear. (Of course, the blood that you’d bleed isn’t actually yours but that’s just semantics.)
Is silver something that vampires or werewolves should generally avoid?
Not at all! No one truly knows how that myth started up— some suspect it was just a ploy to make Hunters think they had the advantage when they actually didn’t— but it’s not the case in the slightest.
In fact, when the Voltaire Family has to host the annual unity ball (let’s just call it that) wherein Hunters attend, Scarlett wears silver everything (necklaces, rings, etc), because it’s a long proven myth that’s been debunked but is still a wound in the Hunters ego. She has a blast every time she sees their faces. (For those wondering why Hunters would be allowed near other supernatural species, it’s because since the supernatural world has tried to integrate with humanity they haven’t really needed to be in supply. They’re more bounty hunter type things now, going after criminals and the like.)
Does the full moon have an influence over werewolves like in the myths?
Yes and no. Younger wolves, that haven’t really learned control, or haven’t been trained accordingly, can be swayed a bit more by the moon, but it doesn’t force them to shift, nor does it turn them into mindless hunting machines. However, the legend does have a kernel of truth on why the myth started in the first place. Centuries before, when the supernatural world was still hidden, werewolves typically had big hunts on the night of the full moon, as it gave off more light, and one pack in particular was quite… ruthless. Stories spread of it, of that pack and it’s unrelenting intensity, and the werewolf myth with the full moon began.
Some wolves do get a bit grumpy during it though. Not because the moon is doing something, but because people always have something to say about it. (Sloane has never had a good time.)
Are Phoenixes weakened by the cold? Are there any species that are?
Phoenixes are quite hardy, they have to be, but do they enjoy being in colder weather? Not particularly, but it’s not something that’d be of great detriment to them. Are they comfortable? Not really. Would they be able to survive? Yes. It’s something that they could do, in a sense, but wouldn’t particularly enjoy. Though Ice Phoenixes feel the exact same way about fire.
As for other species? The underwater species tend to avoid heat, at least an excessive force of it, due to the fact that it feels like they’re drying out (though it just depends on the different types), but I’ll have to go back through my notes to look at specific species! I’ll have to remind myself to make a post about that!
Do Phoenixes get reborn?
They used to. It’s a gift that has since been lost. For reasons that you’ll uncover within the game.
How large are Phoenixes?
Phoenixes, at least when you’re talking about the shifters, vary in sizes from a Peregrine Falcon to a Martial Eagle.
However, actual Phoenixes, where the name was derived from, were much bigger and would easily be able to carry a person. (Like with Dragon Shifters, actual dragons are always bigger.)
Unfortunately, Phoenixes have gone extinct and only the ones that had been blessed with their gift are left.
How big is C’s shifted form?
C is quite large for the typical Phoenix. They have a wingspan of about, roughly in any case, 13-14 feet.
Shadow Kin specification?
It’s more corporate type espionage, at least in the scope of Midnight Sun, but afterward, you can HC your MC taking various other paths!

-ˋˏRAMBLE TRAMBLE. . . ->
Tumblr media
Mhh what about a yandere who feeds off their darling love for yanderes close kids relatives? ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ
SPOILERS FOR ACE ATTORNEY 1-4, FEM DARLING, MILD PLATONIC YANDERE YOUNGER VER! MAYA,PEARL AND TRUCY
Like like (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ
Phoenix knows that you love and adore Maya and Pearly like your own little kids and they both adore you too, especially when Maya doesn't have a older sibling and a mother and Pearly founding out that her mother only used her, of course both of them needs a parental/mother figure especially when they're both girls and you love them dearly because of their past and understand their need of a parental figure/mother figure. He knows how deeply attached you are to them.
Like Phoenix sees how sad both of girls' moods are when you're not around, or whenever you try to leave for somewhere else even for a few minutes they'll be immediately grabbing your hand and asking to bring them with you, and how can you deny them they're both sweet, bright and adorable girls. Phoenix will use both Maya and Pearl's deep attachment to you so you won't even leave saying things like, "Are you sure you want to leave Maya because she will be having the biggest and hardest training this year, she'll need you for emotional support or else something bad will happen to her." Or "I don't think it a good idea to leave Pearly behind with me. Yes, Pearly is definitely mature for her age but she's still a kid, she'll cry if she sees you leaving, it's better to prevent that hassle right?"
BUT BUT THIS SCENARIO BUT WITH APOLLO JUSTICE PHOENIX YES I KNOW THE FIRST ONE IS GOOD BUT THIS ERA WITH THE SAME CONCEPT *MWAH* FABULOUS
We saw how Phoenix's life went downhill, from him getting disbarment his mental health went to shit. But at least you're here and Phoenix in that era is a desperate man, he's making sure that you're never leaving him and Trucy.
This situation also fits Trucy, she lost her mom and her dad, Yes she have her father Phoenix but she also needs a mother figure, so like Pearly she'll go wherever you go not even leaving you even for a second, make sure you'll come to her magic performance everytime or else she'll be extremely gloomy, she's so happy with her mama and papa even if your two aren't dating, but don't tell Trucy that it will break her heart and wouldn't that be cruel to break a child's heart? Phoenix isn't the kind of guy to take advantage of things, but he sure is benefiting from this situation, Trucy's desire to have a mother and your pettiness towards Trucy.
But oooh boy imagine you also feeling pity towards Phoenix too because he just lost his badge and he need a shoulder to lean on, and if you ever try to leave he doesn't even need to do anything because you're already feeling immediately guilty of leaving the both of them even if its a thought because, why are you leaving a broken man and a lonely little girl? that's what's making you stay, even if you always feel suffocated from their overwhelming presence
Aaaaa he's just juicing the situation now (⌒_⌒;)

hey hey franziska anon from turnaboutyandere here 👀 so excited for this blog! i feel obligated to request for some general franziska and edgeworth headcanons please ✨
Of course Franziska Anon!!!! I’m glad that you have obliged me to talk about my favourite trilogy prosecutors, husband Miles and wife Franziska are absolutely fabulous angels.
I hope that you like these headcanons. I’m also really excited for this blog and I can’t wait to get into running it .
Spoilers: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trilogy
TW: Franziska’s whip
💎Franziska von Karma💎
💎 Relationships are a concept that are very alien to Franziska. From a young age she was taught to only seek perfection in her career, that trivial feelings such as love should always come second or not come at all.
💎 Because of this, she soon came to realise that she was very unprepared for the sudden deluge of emotion that struck her after interacting with S/O a few times.
💎 She would probably be very angry with S/O at first. How dare this foolish fool just waltz on into her life and make her feel all of these feelings and just be so oblivious to their effect on her. S/O would be on the brunt end of Franziska’s wrath (namely her whip) during this time period.
💎 It would absolutely get to the point where everyone around Franziska and S/O would realise what’s going on. Getting Franziska to confess to S/O would be nigh on impossible because of her stubbornness so it would be up to S/O to confess to Franziska first, if of course, they felt the same way.
💎 Good news! They do, (although, they had been getting the distinct feeling that Franziska didn’t like them because every time they went to talk to her, they’d walk away with several whip lashes) so S/O plans to confess their feelings to Franziska
💎 Franziska would be in shock when S/O first confesses to her, as much as she had been wishing for this to happen it was still something that she would never expect could happen to her.
💎 In terms of affection, Franziska is still going to be very closed off at first. She doesn’t have much experience in terms of PDA or even private displays of affection so S/O is going to have to be initiating a lot of it. Over time, Franziska would probably clutch onto S/O’s hand if she was angry and would very much appreciate it if S/O rubbed her hand with their thumb.
💎 She would absolutely love to show her S/O off to her colleagues!! She’d bring them to fancy dinners, conferences or whatever else she was invited to as her plus one. She sees it as her own form of affection, while she isn’t 100% comfortable with initiating more personal affection yet, she will more than happily speak about her S/O if prompted (given that the person asking isn’t a foolish fool of course).
💎 If S/O were to learn some German in order to speak to her, she’d be so flattered and would probably blush, depending on how S/O decides to compliment her, she would absolutely get embarrassed.
“Hey Franziska! du siehst heute schön aus.”
“H-Hör auf mit dieser Torheit... aber danke, mein Sonnenschein.”
💎 All in all, Franziska is very grateful for S/O’s presence in her life and she hopes to one day be able to give back in tenfold the affection and support that S/O has given to her, until that day, however, she is more than happy to bask in the warmth that her S/O provides.
Translations from the text:
Du siehst heute schön aus. - You look beautiful today.
Hör auf mit dieser Torheit... aber danke, mein Sonnenschein - Stop this foolishness...but thank you, my Sunshine.
♟Miles Edgeworth♟
♟ Very similarly to Franziska, Miles is also very inexperienced when it comes to romantic relationships. He was more focused on making his mentor proud and didn’t really focus on anything to do with dating. Because of this, he is also very oblivious to how other people feel about him which means that even if he had feelings for S/O, he wouldn’t be the one to initiate a relationship.
♟ Any form of romance with Miles Edgeworth is going to be prime slow burn material. It’ll take him a good several months to even consider forming anything closer than a professional working relationship with S/O, before anything else he would come to appreciate and admire the hard work that S/O put into whatever they did.
♟ Again, S/O is probably going to have to be the one to confess how they feel to Miles and they are going to have to be very upfront about it to avoid a miscommunication. The confession would absolutely happen somewhere privately and once Miles realised that he wasn’t the only one with these strange feelings about the other, he’d feel absolutely relieved (although he’d be sure to hide it with a wry smile and his normal formal and cool manner of speaking).
♟ Miles is also someone who is very inexperienced with public and private displays of affection and the initiation of such acts will never fail to make him incredibly flustered. He might be a bit more put off by public affection and would seize up if S/O were to as much as hold his hand in public, let alone embrace him or kiss him. This is something that he’d work on over time so at some point, he’ll be more open to holding hands in public.
♟ Despite his inexperience, Miles would probably be the most comfortable with privately displayed affection, whether that be in his office when it's just the two of them or at either his or S/O’s home. He’d absolutely be down to hold hands while he works and if he was feeling particularly worn down, he might just pull his S/O into his arms while he sits and 2just lay his head against their thorax.
♟ It’s pretty much common knowledge within the fanbase that Edgeworth has a dog at this point, so a good way to spend time outside of work would be to go with Edgeworth while he walks his dog. Also bonus points if Edgeworth’s dog also likes S/O, animals are very perceptive and as far as Edgeworth is concerned, if his dog likes and trusts S/O then there’s a good chance that he can do the same.
EXTRA! bonus points here if during the walk, Miles’ dog keeps looping the lead around both Miles’ and S/O’s knees and they end up falling into each other.
♟ Routine affection is also very important to Miles, he’d make sure to have time set aside during the day to be receptive to affection and once he gets bold enough to initiate affection and romantic gestures himself, I can guarantee that there’d be at least half an hour that he’d take out of his day to just hold S/O in his arms.
♟ Miles is also one to show off, so S/O can fully expect to be brought to all of the fancy functions and conferences that Miles has to go to. He’d also take them along on all of his international excursions so if anything, S/O can expect to become a lot more well travelled. He’d take S/O to see all of the sites in whatever country he was visiting and he would absolutely take advantage of the fact that he probably knows several European languages to further impress S/O.
He would also teach S/O different languages so that they can communicate too.
♟ One thing that Miles would definitely be concerned about is his fans. He is no stranger for receiving bouquets of flowers and other lavish gifts from people who are no doubt trying to woo him. However, he wouldn’t stand for any slander against S/O and if these fangirls grew to be too much, he’d make it abundantly clear to both his fanbase and whoever checks his packages that he won’t be receiving anything else from those who only seek to interfere in his private life.
(Sorry Wendy Oldbag, I don’t think you’ll be getting your ‘Edgy-poo’ anytime soon)
♟ Miles would be fiercely protective of his S/O. If he thought for a moment that anything that he was about to get himself into was going to put S/O in danger, he’d try to keep them as far removed from it as possible. It would absolutely wreck him if S/O was hurt and even in a non-yandere situation he’d make it his mission to make sure that anyone who put S/O at risk was brought to justice.

It’s hard to tell how much WWX was actually affected by his demonic cultivation during his first life. He's still the same person as he was before practicing it and the differences in his temper could be easily attributed to circumstances. I think it's important for the themes of the novel, because MDZS is not a story about someone corrupted by his powers; the point of everything that happened isn't that WWX's cultivation method was harmful and he shouldn't practice it anymore. This is clearly not what the novel is trying to tell us.
Part of WWX’s character arc is about facing his limits and accepting that despite being incredibly talented and skilled, there are things beyond his control. The loss of control of his demonic cultivation is connected to that theme.
He was the one who couldn’t control such a weapon. He was the one who grew too confident in his own abilities. He was also the one who ignored all of the ominous indications that had happened up to now, with the belief that he could suppress any loss of control.
(Chapter 76)
WWX himself admits that he “ignored all the ominous indications” because he felt sure that he could suppress any loss of control. This doesn't necessarily mean there's something inherently harmful about demonic cultivation, but using it as much as WWX did, especially in stressful situations, is not a good idea since it's clearly affected by the state of mind of the person practicing it. The problem isn't that WWX was so arrogant that he thought nothing could go wrong, but that he didn't really have another choice. Instead of worrying, he chose to keep an optimistic mindset and put his trust in his own abilities, as he always does.
I don’t actually consider what happened at Qiongqi Path his fault, since JZXun really pushed him beyond what anyone could reasonably stand, but WWX's thoughts indicate the loss of control wasn't something that happened suddenly. There had been signs before. Other than being plausible, this is important for the themes of the novel: this is a moment where WWX is faced with his own limits. Despite being a prodigy, he's still a fallible human being. He can get tired, stressed out, make mistakes and fail.
Taking all this into account, the signs mentioned by LWJ when they met in Yunmeng were probably real and he hadn’t imagined them. I don’t think LWJ would have been so worried otherwise.
Lan WangJi, “Last time, during the hunt on Phoenix Mountain, have you noticed certain signs?”
Wei WuXian, “What signs?”
Lan WangJi, “The loss of control.”
Wei WuXian, “You mean me almost getting into a fight with Jin ZiXuan? I think you got something wrong. I want to fight with Jin ZiXuan whenever I see him.”
Lan WangJi, “And the things you said afterwards.”
Wei WuXian, “What things? I say so many things every day. I’ve long since forgotten about the things I said two months ago.”
[...]
Lan WangJi, “It is not too late yet. In the future, even if you regret…”
Without waiting for him to finish talking, Wei WuXian’s expression changed. He suddenly stood up, “Lan Zhan!”
Behind him, red light had begun to glow within the eyes of the girls. Wei WuXian, “Stop it.”
Thus, the girls lowered their heads and retreated, but still they stared unwaveringly at Lan WangJi. Wei WuXian turned to him, “What can I say? Even though I don’t think that I’ll regret it, I don’t like it when people take guesses at how I’m going to be in the future, either.”
After a while of silence, Lan WangJi replied, “I am the one who was out of line.”
(Chapter 71)
LWJ’s way of approaching the issue could have definitely been better and it was a source of misunderstandings between them, but he did have a point. I think it's telling that WWX got very defensive every time LWJ brought up the subject. Although part of it was understandable irritation for feeling always judged by LWJ, I think he himself had probably already noticed the signs, but since he couldn’t really do anything about it (it’s not like he could go back to cultivating with spiritual energy) he chose to ignore them and believe in his own ability to suppress any possible loss of control. Having LWJ constantly reminding him that something could go wrong - especially without offering any feasible solution - only irritated him more.
After WWX came back, LWJ stopped being so insistent about the potentially detrimental effects of demonic cultivation, because he understood that his own attitude during WWX’s first life hadn’t helped at all and had only caused the rift between them to become worse, to the point that before he died WWX believed even LWJ hated him like everyone else:
Wei WuXian spun around to dodge the attack and laughed, “Fine, fine. I knew since the start that we’d have to fight a real fight like this one sooner or later. You’ve always found me disagreeable no matter what. Come on!”
Hearing this, Lan WangJi’s movements paused, “Wei Ying!”
(Chapter 78)
After losing WWX, LWJ had a lot of time to reflect on his mistakes and come to terms with his regrets. We see the result of this in all of LWJ’s actions during WWX's second life. LWJ is done with being still and waiting: this time he’ll actually do everything in his power to support WWX and keep him safe. As long as WWX seems unaffected by demonic cultivation, LWJ will never bring it up again. LWJ probably realizes WWX must have his reasons to cultivate that path (we learn in chapter 89 that LWJ had his suspicions and thought WWX’s spiritual powers were somehow impaired), so this time he chooses to just trust WWX’s judgement. LWJ’s own character development also made him become a lot more tolerant in general and less rigid about some things, so he doesn't care about traditions as much as he did when he was younger.
In conclusion, WWX's loss of control might have been due to inherent effects of his cultivation method, but it’s not meant to portray demonic cultivation as something that should be avoided no matter what: it's part of larger themes like facing one's limits and coming to terms with one's failures. I think it's highly unlikely that WWX will lose control again in the future: we see him using his powers with more moderation in his second life and, more importantly, his current state of mind is a lot better than when he was in the middle of very stressful situations. As much as WWX is mentally strong, he spent years isolated from the world, with a group of people under his protection and without knowing when someone would decide to attack him. Having to shoulder all of this alone would put a toll on anyone, so it's no wonder he lost control in the end. Now he has LWJ by his side, so he doesn't need to do everything by himself anymore.

This part’s voices of reason are.... Cho and Fred!

>>JOIN MY WRITING CHALLENGE!<<
Tumblr media
George made his way back up to his dorm in a surprising cool calm manner. It was not until late the next morning did what he did sunk in.
What George had thought was a very nice, vivid dream- one he wish he would have the courage to act upon in real life, had actually happened, he panicked.  ‘OH MY GOD! OH MY-YOU KISSED HER! YOU IDIOT!’
Fred, who had just arrived in their shared dorm, toast in hand, laughed at his very dishevelled twin queries. ‘Kissed who?’
‘Y/N. I kissed Y/N’
‘ohhh…’ George’s forwardness made Fred drop his toast. ‘FINALLY!’ He exclaimed, scooting George over.
‘wait What?’
Fred places his palms under his chin. ‘Now tell me how this all went down. Y/n made the first move, didn’t she? Please tell me she did or else I owe Ginny 5 galleons.’
~
While George had a rather peaceful slumber, you on the other hand, did not.
Twisting and turning, mind still stuck on the same sentence. Ranging between the perplexity of ‘George Weasley kissed me?’ to the absolute euphoria of ‘GEROGE WEASLEY KISSED ME!’ .
You touch you lips, gently as if by the feeling of his lips on yours would be washed away if not treated with care.
‘I meant something like that. I didn’t wanna kiss you because of a game. I want to kiss you because you mean something to me’
His parting words echoed in your head.
You Mean Something to Me.
That means he likes you too right? He has to… the boy literally said it…well in the bare minimum implied it. Who in their right mind would deliver a world-shattering kiss to someone they do not fancy?
Though there is one slight detail that could offset this whole theory……
He walked away.
The boy kissed, professed his feelings then exited.
And people say that women are enigmas.
You sighed, you definitely need a fresh pair of eyes here.
The alarm clock on your bedside table flashes 6:39am.
‘Great…’ You muttered, the stupid kiss has kept you awake, overthinking for almost 4 hours.
Rolling over, you layered on a hoodie to your pyjamas. ‘Well, she would just have to deal with me this early.’
You silently make your way out, trying your best to not wake any of your roommates.
In your desperation, the fact that the Ravenclaw’s common room location albeit not a secret, it had completely flown pass your head that they had no password but rather a riddle.
‘Please, can I get an easier riddle’ you pleased to the eagle knocker.
‘Which came first, the phoenix, or the flame?’
You huffed, ofcourse it won’t go easy on you.
‘How would I know?!’ you scowled. The door not granting you entrance just further adds to tour irritable state. How many more things had to be confusing? First George and now this!
‘I wasn’t there! You didn’t even give me a time frame, you stupid door! Ouch!’ Recoiling back in pain, you were sent aback whether be it from kicking the door or it getting back at you for mocking it, you weren’t sure.
‘Give me the full picture. Like is the Phoenix dying? Then the phonics came first than came the flame. If not then it would be vice versa, only a pile of ashes is seen from which a phoenix would be born… or reborn.’
Gosh, were you thankful that it’s too early in the morning for someone to see you rant to a door.
‘You know what? Whatever!’ You sighed in defeat; you would just have to hide from George during breakfast.
However, as you turn to leave, the most extraordinary thing happened.
‘OH My---’ You gawked at the now opened door. ‘It WORKED?!?’
‘It was a valid argument to the constrains presented.’ The eagle knocker remarked, ‘Now it you please, enter quickly, you are letting a cold draft in.’
‘Th-Thank you.’
You’ve been into the Ravenclaw Common Room before and the rows of floor to ceiling bookshelves never fail to intimidate you.
Your eyes land upon the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw and the surrounding intricate tapestries, the soft glow of the sunrise transforming the circular room into a gallery fit for a palace.
‘Y/n?’ A voice called from the dark staircase.
‘AHH!’ You placed a hand to your chest. ‘CHO! What the heck?!? Don’t scare me like that!’
‘What are you doing here? How did you get in?’
‘OH uh… I ranted.’ You told her honestly.
‘You ranted.’ She said in disbelief.
‘Yes. But more on that later, I have more pressing matters.’ You stated, shaking the poor girl. ‘I NEED ADVICE CHO. CODE RED.’
‘CLEARLY.’ Cho sassed, dragging along to the sofa but you stood your ground. ‘y/n?’ Her tone now softer upon seeing your distressed face.
‘George kissed me.’
‘Whaaaaaaaaa?!’
~
You are utterly grateful for Ravenclaws minding their own business, a handful of early risers had gone out for breakfast passing you by. Ravenclaws no doubt has multitude of questions on what a Gryffindor is doing in their common room but had decided to not go down that rabbit hole and are more intrigued in guessing what breakfast specials there’d this last meal before Christmas break.
Though the more straightforward answer could be seen on Cho’s face.
It is too early to be dealing with this, but a friend is a friend. Though that doesn’t mean it stops Cho from internally swearing that her eyes are going to be permanently crossed from keeping up with your pacing about.
‘George kissed me and I didn’t even kissed me back-’ Pacing left, you recounted the previous night. As if sensing Cho call your bullshit, you caved.  ‘okay fine! I kissed him back!’
Plopping face down onto the sofa, voice muffled by the pillow. ‘Is that what you want me to say?’ you demanded.
’I literally haven’t said a word for like over an hour’ uttered Cho matter of factly.
‘Sorry…’ You gaze up at her, pouting your lips as to make her forgive you faster before resuming to your grunts of ‘stupid George Weasley.’
Observing that your rant was over, Cho needed actual details in order to best help you. To help you out of this sticky situation or better yet some….realization, introspection…..That would be up to how honest you are with yourself. ’How was it though, was it…?’
You flop unto your back, mindless playing with your fingers as you recall, ‘It was like I was hit with a bunch of Cheering Charms.’
‘Really?’ Cocking her head, she continued.  ’George was that good? How did he do it then?’
‘He just,’ Okay how were you to describe that magical moment? Wracking your brain but no words could do it justice. ‘He just like, grabbed me.’
‘uh huh’
Cho was unconvinced, so you decided to act it out.
Still lying down, you reach to the ceiling, clenching into fists. ‘and he took me, I mean it was strength, confidence.’
’mm hmm’
You brought your arms close to you, letting your eyes shut as you did so. ‘It was firm, but tender.’
 ’oh damn.’ Cho gasped.
‘oh yeah’ You hate how hot your face has become in a matter of seconds. ‘I saw through space and time for a minute, but that’s not the point.’
‘oh man what are you gonna do?’ Prompted Cho. This was it, the homerun, she thought.
‘I don’t know.’ You truthfully say. There are so many uncertainties, you genuinely don’t know. Wrapping yourself into a ball, you slip of the seat.
Leaning forward, Cho does the last trick on her list. The question that has been implied but left officially unanswered. ‘I mean do you…like George?’
You fake vomit. Your automatic defence system taking over. ‘bah yuck George? Ahhhh’ You tried to play it cool, chuckling.  ‘Nooo!’
You’ve never told a soul! You and George are the best of friends-that’s the story.
Yet Cho’s unnerving brow challenges that narrative.
Halting, you swallowed.
‘Yes.’
~
Part 3, at the burrow will be coming up. So yeah.
It was supposed to be in this but I got carried away and got more inspiration from S2x16 where Nick and Jess had moments of albeit very panicked self-realization on the meaning of the kiss.

I think when people talk about Wei Wuxian not asking for help they're mostly referring to the pre-Wen situation, when he's pretty obviously not doing very well and Lan Wangji, Lan Xichen, Jiang Cheng and Yanli all do reach out and try to help and are brushed away with varying degrees of brusqueness. It's completely fair to say they didn't help the Wens and they should have regardless of their relationship with Wei Wuxian and what he asked of them, but he is sabotaging his relationships before that happens. He wins any morality contest by a mile for being the only person to actually help them, but his whole "if I want to kill someone, who could stop me?" announcement followed by going forth alone with no witnesses to kill people with nothing but his word saying they deserved it does not make it easy, and I can definitely see the argument that if he'd been willing to ask for help before that point it might have gone better for everyone.
I mean, that might have been where it started! But that's certainly not where the fandom narrative has ended up in the past...honestly, I’d call it well over a year by now -_-
But a couple things first before I get into the meat of the argument (under a cut because this got long):
1. "Lan Wangji, Lan Xichen, Jiang Cheng and Yanli all do reach out and try to help and are brushed away with varying degrees of brusqueness...he is sabotaging his relationships before that happens "
I mentioned this in my meta on e19-22 rewatch, so I’ll just quote it here: "Jiang Yanli is just so ready to support Wei Wuxian in his new methods!!! But without turning a blind eye to what’s happened to him!!! She makes it clear she knows something is wrong, though without pressing too hard or making him feel unwelcome. She strikes a very good balance between Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji.
Lan Wangji rejects Wei Wuxian’s new cultivation out of hand, and therefore very starkly rejects Wei Wuxian too, because his sect rules and orthodoxy tells him that’s the proper way to deal with things.
Meanwhile, Jiang Cheng lets himself believe that Wei Wuxian isn’t recovering from anything and therefore doesn’t need recovery time, so anything else is “spoiling” him, or him being undisciplined, because his mother always told him that’s what Wei Wuxian is like. Both Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng parrot back what they’ve grown up hearing (in very opposite directions), while Jiang Yanli tries to find a better way forward."
So, Wei Wuxian’s relationship with Jiang Yanli isn’t doing poorly. She knows something is wrong but isn’t forcing him, trying to let him deal with his trauma without ignoring it. Meanwhile, Lan Wangji at first is just as caught up in his own sect ideals as much as Wei Wuxian is putting distance between them. Perhaps, they might have been able to move to something after their zhiji talk during the Phoenix Mountain Hunt, after Wei Wuxian had some more distance from his trauma and Lan Wangji got past his ingrained reaction to demonic cultivation. But then the whole Jin Zixun situation happens, and then the Wens...
(But that’s also what this comes down to: Wei Wuxian has trauma and needs time to heal, though he’ll never be able to go back to the person he was. And yet, as this meta that I reblogged yesterday pointed out, that’s what everyone keeps pushing for. But Wei Wuxian can go no more go back emotionally than he can go back physically. And that’s certainly not helping the whole “wanting to put a distance between himself and others” thing when they keep pushing.)
As for Wei Wuxian’s relationship with Jiang Cheng...well, Jiang Cheng is his mother’s son. He’s perfectly capable of sabotaging relationships all on his own.
2. "going forth alone with no witnesses to kill people with nothing but his word saying they deserved it"
Wei Wuxian only says the truth of what happened to Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng doesn't care. The whole conference scene post-Wen-breakout makes it pretty clear that no one cares what the truth is. The cultivation world decide that nothing but the guard's words were incredibly convincing - that all the Wens just totally fell off cliffs and died on all their own and also the guards never once mistreated prisoners, ever. In e26, as Wei Wuxian tells Jiang Cheng, as Mianmian angrily decries to the rest of the room, they know it doesn't matter what the truth is. People have already declared Wei Wuxian guilty, as they do throughout the drama/novel.
Anyway, back to the main argument:
Unfortunately, the fandom isn’t just referring to pre-Wen-Remnant situation when they say Wei Wuxian refused help.
The idea that Wei Wuxian was just too stubborn to ask for help with the Wens or that he refused help with them is pervasive in everything from innocuous fandom posts (like the one I reblogged) to sprawling fan fic. I've read fic (and subsequently clicked out of said fic, because I reached my limit months ago), where Jiang Cheng has complained that Wei Wuxian was just "too stubborn" for refusing his totally legit offers of help that he totally really made, or Wen Qing chewed out Wei Wuxian for not asking for Lan Wangji's help when he came by, as if their whole last conversation in e29 isn’t a plea for help. Or pretty much every character blaming Wei Wuxian for not asking for help with the Wens. Or in modern AUs where the situation is twisted, where the Wens don’t actually need that much help and they want Wei Wuxian to leave and Wei Wuxian is just being flighty and/or depressed and/or self-harming by joining them and stubbornly refusing to come home for no good reason.
And sure, Jiang Cheng does call Wei Wuxian too stubborn in CQL...right after he got mad that Wei Wuxian kept refusing to hand over these old people and their toddler over so the Jin could kill them.
(...and a large part of the problem is that swathes of the fandom just wholesale accept Jiang Cheng's - and Madame Yu's - version of events and telling of the narrative. Except fanon Jiang Cheng gets written as a Good Person Actually and one who definitely cares about the Wens like all the Good People characters do, and would also just be the best uncle to A-Yuan too...and so Wei Wuxian's story and character gets re-written to fit that narrative. Like a mirror of CQL/MDZS, but in a slightly skewed direction)
But, yes to your point, Wei Wuxian is being weighed down by trauma and secrets, and keeping people at varying distance due to those secrets and trauma (but it is trauma, and he shouldn’t be blamed for not being 100% open about it immediately afterward).
Yes, Wei Wuxian has lived through unspeakable things and subsequently done unspeakable things after getting out of the Burial Mounds, and puts up his façade to keep people from pushing at him so he doesn’t have to speak the unspeakable.
Yes, Wei Wuxian has a lot more anger in him thanks to the PTSD, yes he's more prone to lashing out, and saying absolutely batshit wild statements like "if I want to kill someone, who could stop me?" (but also only after he’s been provoked and insulted by privileged assholes who are quite literally allowed to get away with murder, but he can’t get away with winning a contest.)
Yes, he has a secret that he cannot reveal that would make many of his actions perfectly clear, but must deal with that loss on his own while (sometimes poorly) pretending he hasn't lost anything, and also worrying the people who care about him when he acts differently but won’t talk about why.
(And this may be sideways to the point, but I doubt the core reveal to Jiang Cheng would have helped. Maybe if Wei Wuxian revealed it to Lan Wangji and Jiang Yanli, it might have helped - it might have been the kick in pants to get Lan Wangji to join Wei Wuxian, and maybe, maybe with Hanguang-jun by his side back then, things might have been different. If Wei Wuxian trusted Lan Wangji enough to tell, if the situation with the Wens hadn’t happened and Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji could grow close again. But Jiang Cheng...would not react well (I won’t get into it here, but this post talks more about Jiang Cheng’s feelings on the core transfer in canon vs. fanon).
Yes, Wei Wuxian pushing people away from the truth immediately post-Burial Mounds and post-war is a conversation to be had! He is not dealing perfectly with everything he’s been through and is compounded by his secret, and that makes it hard for everyone else to also deal with his issues since he refuses to open up and will lie about how he is feeling.
But that's not what the fandom at large makes it out to be. The fandom makes it about the Wens, and pretends that if Wei Wuxian had been less stubborn/less selfish/less stupid/etc, then the Wens definitely would have been saved - it’s just Wei Wuxian’s fault for not being good enough, despite being the only person in canon who tried.

inappropriate funeral questions
prompt: haunt me in the night | tw: discussions of dying, MCD | 1.5k lmao | on ao3
--
“Potter,” Draco says at the reception to Goyle’s funeral. “How is it you look exactly the same as the last time I saw you. That was almost 3 years ago.”
Andromeda Tonks’ funeral. Draco wore a black dress.
“Good skincare.” The same answer he gives Hermione. A joke so he doesn’t have to form an opinion on his complete lack of outward signs of aging over the past 5 years.
Draco steps closer and takes his hand. Studies it. Turns it over in his own hand, gentle, focused. Harry swallows.
“You’re unnaturally warm.” Draco points his wand at Harry. “Avada Kedavra.”
Then, nothing. And then, Draco.
“You came back.”
Harry shrugs. It’s not as though this is the first time.
“This is not the time and place to discuss any of this. How about my place, tonight? I’ll give you my address. Bring wine,” Draco says.
“Are you, err, asking me on a date?”
“No, I’m asking you on a secret rendezvous to discuss the bizarre set of circumstances we’ve both found ourselves in.”
“But there will be wine.”
“Yes, Potter! Because we’re adults. Because despite the fact that I look 19, I’m actually 25 and thus will drink as much wine as I want whether on a date or not!”
“You know you look the same as you did 3 years ago too!” Harry calls after Draco as he walks away.
“Do you think I’m a bad son for leaving early?” Draco asks at what would be the reception to Narcissa’s funeral. He had left halfway through the ceremony, apparently to raid the communion wine stash and drink alone in the church basement.
“I think you’re grieving. It’s not as though your mom will know you left.”
“Don’t say that,” Draco says. “Don’t say that. She’s not gone. She’s just … somewhere else.”
“Whatever you say, Draco.”
Draco scowls. “No, not whatever I say. Don’t placate me.”
He aims his wand at Harry. A green flash.
Then, nothing. Then, Draco, looking almost sheepish.
“Sorry, I know you asked me to warn you, but I’m drunk, and it’s my mother’s funeral. I’m allowed to forget things.” Draco sighs. “I like that you come back. That we come back. Because if you can come back, then that means that she can come back, wherever she is. It means the matter preserves itself. It means —”
Harry’s heard what it means several times before. Draco’s fond of this particular speech — it staves off Draco's fear of death, Harry suspects. Harry doesn’t understand most of the points Draco makes, but he listens anyways. Draco’s mind moves faster than his does — than anyone’s does, probably. He’s the one that figured out the Fiendfyre hadn’t died as much as it had escaped. It burns still, inside the two people who spent the longest time zig-zagging through its flames. It preserves the two of them. Prevents them from dying.
Keeps them so warm, he thinks as he runs his fingers up and down Draco’s shoulder. He can feel the fire trapped there, still burning inside lovely, grieving, drunk Draco who sighs again and says, “Sometimes when I look at you, I can’t figure out if what I feel for you is real or if it’s because you represent the possibility of seeing everyone I ever love again.”
“What you … feel for me?”
“Yes. The — you know, pseudoscientific ‘heart-opening’ feeling.”
“Errrrr …”
“Don’t worry about it,” Draco says. “I’ll tell you when I figure it out.”
He sighs with his whole body, his head landing in Harry’s lap. “I think I’d like it if you stroked my hair.”
Harry does. He feels warm. He feels good. He feels as though he’ll wait forever for this dumb-ass intellectual to figure out the pseudoscientific heart-opening feeling is love.
“Do you think I look different now that I’m an orphan?” Draco asks after Lucius’ funeral.
“Oh, yes, you look more handsome. All orphans are handsome didn’t you know?” Harry says. “It’s my honor to welcome you to our elite and exclusive club.”
Draco snorts and finishes off a second bottle of wine. “I keep on thinking about all the things he hated about me and how I’ve doubled down on them. Like animals, he hated animals and I have a crup, a dog and a phoenix. And he always told me I overthink things, and now I’m an academic. Kissing boys, also a no, no.”
Harry doesn’t want to think about Draco kissing other boys. Not when he has yet to kiss him.
“Being immortal, that’s a thing I’m sure he wouldn’t approve of,” Harry says.
“Definitely. I’m sure he hates that I outlived him. Well, sort of outlived him,” Draco waves his hand. “I don’t want to think about whatever happens on the other side right now; I’m in too good of a mood. Dancing! He would’ve hated that I dance.”
“I didn’t know you dance.”
“Of course I can dance. Here. Let me show you,” he pulls Harry snug against him, casts a music spell. Harry doesn’t recognize the song, or the dance, but he recognizes the desire in the other boy’s eyes.
“I want to kiss you,” Draco says.
“I know you do,” Harry leans toward Draco, wet heat against wet heat; a fire that burns forever, greeting itself.
Time restarts. When Harry pulls back, Draco’s 29. As old as he’s supposed to be.
“Why did you come?” Draco spits at the reception to his ex-lover’s funeral. Tim? Ted? Travis? Harry never learned his name out of spite.
“I wanted to see you.”
“That’s massively inappropriate.”
“I’m supporting a friend. I know how you get at funerals.” Drunk.
“I’m fine. It was cancer; it wasn’t as though it was a surprise. He was in a lot of pain. He wanted to go.” Draco sighs. “We used to argue about that all the time. I was smarter than Toby, but he was much better at arguing, so when we really got going, we could go for days. It’s been so quiet now that he’s — wherever he is. I think I’m scared of being alone. I think I’ve had a little too much wine.”
“You don’t have to be alone, you know. I’m not saying we have to do anything, but you don’t have to be alone.”
“I can’t. Every time I see you, I want to kiss you, but if I kiss you, then it’ll restart our clocks. It’ll kill us, and I’m more scared of dying than I am of being alone.”
“I know you are.”
“How come you’re not?”
“I trust you to do the thinking for the both of us. Sorry, is that unfair? It’s not as though I can keep up with you in the thinking department anyways. I trust you, and you said there’s a flip-side, that we’re proof that there’s a flip-side. Which means all there is is just somewhere else I get to explore with you.”
Draco leans down and kisses his hand. Harry feels the burn pass from Draco to him, feels the fire inside him dim. He gets older by two year, three.
But he feels it more when Draco walks away.
“Have you ever seen a phoenix die?” Draco asks at what Harry guesses is supposed to be a funeral for his pet phoenix, Kelvin. He’s sitting in his favorite armchair, dressed in black, still as 29 as when Harry kissed him 29 almost 70 years ago. Kelvin died, please come, that’s all his owl had said.
“No?” Harry says.
“I expected as much. Obviously, die isn’t the right word. Metamorphosis, that’s the word I’ve decided fits best. Because obviously, he’s here still.” Draco indicates the flaming baby bird sitting in a ring of ash on the corner of the armchair. “But his memories were erased, and that’s a kind of death. Kelvin was old for a phoenix — I think he was holding out for me, and he finally realized that I had no intention of going. But it was his time. I watched, out of respect. It was … beautiful. He looked so relieved. As though, finally, he could rest.”
“Errrr you know actually I think maybe I did see that. With Fawkes.”
Draco laughs and runs his hand across his face. “I’m trying to make a segue, you know. To tell you I’m ready. I thought if I was poetic about the whole thing It’d make me less scared, but it didn’t. I’m still scared.”
“I know you are.” Harry says and pulls Draco close to him. Draco rests his head against Harry’s chest. “It’s ok. We’ll be together.”
He slides two fingers under Draco’s chin, angles it up to his face. Waits for Draco to be ready. The longest moment of Harry’s very long life.
Draco looks as though he has something he wants to say, but he never speaks. He leans forward and kisses Harry.
All of the years come at once. 29; 39; 49. His back hurts; his legs ache; he feels comfortable in his body in a way his youth never allowed. 59; 69; 79, on. Two old men, falling into inevitability. Reaching together for what’s next.
There’s Draco, and Draco, and only Draco. And then nothing at all.

Macgyver 5x10 Rewatch: My musings...
Tumblr media
Hey guys. I was so completely distracted by Mac’s golden retriever puppy face at the end of the episode that I’ve basically forgotten everything else that happened. Any excuse for a re-watch, am I right?
So. Here are all the things I missed the first time round, in case anyone is interested. And no. I’m not done talking about how awesome Bozer is.
-First off. The opening Macsplain has LAYERS. “Pressure”? “... Something beautiful and strong that I really hope I can replicate...” Dude. Some things are better when they form NATURALLY. *cough* Riley *cough* [FYI. This is not a dis at lab diamonds. No blood diamonds for me, ta very much.]
-On that note. Are we all just going to collectively ignore the fact that Mac pulled a FULLY CUT diamond out of that chamber?! Yeah. That’s not how that works but... cool. cool.
- Also, Boze. My one disagreement with you this ep. If my dude told me he MADE me a diamond I would combust on the spot. OF COURSE HE SHOULD TELL HER HE MADE IT HIMSELF!! THAT’S MAC’S BRAND, DUDE!!
-The war room is like the inside of Russ’ head. I would hate to live there. “Darling” to one of the rando Phoenix guys. Love it. But “donkeys”? Not a thing. Even in England.
-The first time we’ve ever actually SEEN their comms and how they work. Guys... I think these are going to be relevant...
-Yellow filter... we must be in Mexico! (oi. WHY?!) And my film brain can’t ignore the space between all the extras. Covid y’all...
- Only a psycho would wear trousers that short. Must be... yep. It’s him!
- I REALLY wish I hadn’t know that Andrews was going to be in this ep. I feel like his appearance would have had slightly more impact.
-”So you wanna play.” Dastmalchian playing with his favourite toy. And he JUMPED A MILE when Mac got hit by that car... dude was genuinely concerned.
-”Yes that’s definitely it isn’t it.” Salty Russ is a mood. I love it.
- Mac on a bike. More of this please Macgyver gods.
- Guys. It makes total sense that the FBI didn’t loop Phoenix in on Murdoc’s break-out because the last time they tangled with the FBI Phoenix illegally broke Andrews out of prison and then LOST HIM.
- Andrews makes a painting reference. Nice touch.
-”Magnitude Murdoc” HOW DID I MISS THIS THE FIRST TIME?! IT’S HILARIOUS.
-”Aw shucks. I really thought we had it there boy scout.” I want this on a t-shirt.
- “The only thing I have up here are cigarette butts and chewing gum (beat) and ROCKS.” How did I miss THAT the first time too. Dude uses the rock in his pocket. Excellent script.
- Oh Riley. V. deliberate & CONSTANT use of past tense for her to hide behind.
- Desi’s face here was important. She’s not in any way angry... which is her default defense mechanism. She just feels for Riley.
- I know we all really want to know this but WHAT ELSE DID RILEY SAY ON THAT RECORDING?! Must’ve been bad because she wanted to preempt their reactions.
- Ring emerges from pocket and THIS IS THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE THEY’VE LOOKED ALL EPISODE. And that’s saying something.
- I love that it’s Bozer and not Russ that spots they connection with the symbols.
- Desi is a fucking badass. AND Desi & Riley get to work together against Andrews & Murdoc. Plus Riley gets to throw tools at Murdoc. Yaaaas get him gurl!
- Did Andrews kill Leland? Is that implied??
- Phoenix support team all filing into the war room to watch the showdown.
- “...Truly only worthy companion.” I still maintain that Murdoc would not have gone through with killing Mac. He loves playing with him too much.
- I think the Phoenix staff were in the room solely so that BOZER COULD GET A LITERAL ROUND OF APPLAUSE for saving the day. He deserves it. BOZER IS MVP.
- Subtle change in expression when Riley says “I decided to bury it until the feelings went away.” Mac’s thinking wheels are in motion.
- Riley exhales like it’s a huge weight off her shoulders to talk to him.
- Desi. “Do what you feel is right”. She’s scared. She’s trying to bury it. But a ‘clean slate’ is easier said than done. I GET IT. And for the first time in a while I really empathize with her character.
- HIC brings huge gravitas to Russ. In less competent hands his apology could have felt hammy. It wasn’t. It was poignant and moving.
- This ending. The moment Mac realizes he can’t pretend nothing’s changed he doesn’t even hesitate. He needs to talk to Riley so he just DOES.
-CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT HE WALKED TO HER PLACE! How close does she live?!
-“I gotta ask”- No eye contact. But he doesn’t stumble over the words either.
- “Did they go away.” - SUCH eye contact and a zoom shot no less... and THAT’S the GOLDEN RETRIEVER MOMENT RIGHT THERE. Gurl He’s asking if you still love him! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! (obviously I know it’s not that simple but surely she can’t lie to that face for long...)
Okay. I feel better having gotten all of that off my chest. Now back to my WIP. If you made it this far... THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO MY RANT!! <3

my opinion on/a surprisingly passionate defense of Mulan (2020) (SPOILERS)
I’ve seen a lot of ppl ragging on the new Mulan for so many reasons, so I will go over why these (mostly) are stupid reasons and why I love the new movie.
1. Liu Yifei supporting the Hong Kong police. Now this is not a stupid reason, this is valid. I am an East Asian studies major, and as much as I love Disney, when I first heard the news I knew I could not watch Mulan (2020) in good conscience. It went against everything I have learned in my studies, and everything I believe. However, now I am almost positive Liu Yifei was forced to make those comments- I've seen several sources saying so recently. You can look for these sources on your own, because this isn’t the whole point of my post, but I think it's true. A movie about a woman defying her government and social expectations of the time? Hong Kong citizens could absolutely use her as a symbol for protesting against China. It makes sense that the government would take preventative measures before this could happen. But anyways, I was not planning on watching Mulan (2020) until I found out that what she said was most likely fake/forced.
2. The removal of Mushu. Yes, I too miss Mushu but I completely understand why they did that. A lot of ppl make these sort of complaints about the live action remakes not using humor in the same way as the original, but that’s bc it doesn’t translate well. Humor in animated movies is exaggerated or silly, and it works in that medium but if you do the exact same in a live action film, it will come off as too slapstick. Think Will Ferrell in Elf (still a good movie). Mushu’s whole character is based off of this humor that appeals more to kids, and it would have really made the dialogue with him super cringey. and I know if they made him a more serious supportive character people would've complained about that too, so I understand why they did it.
3. The removal of Li Shang. I miss our bisexual boy too, but I actually think they did a really great job with the new guy Honghui. The directors removed Li Shang because he is in a sense, Mulan’s boss, and they felt that it was too much like the #MeToo movement, which I applaud. At first I was upset that supposedly this new character would be a jerk to Mulan until he found out she was a girl, but that's not what happened in the film fortunately. Honghui and Mulan start off on the wrong foot but they grow as comrades and sort-of friends, and Honghui is the first to stick by Mulan’s side when she reveals who she is. Even if there aren’t as many signals of him being bi, I think they progressed their relationship nicely. (I was sorta hoping for a kiss at the end though).
4. Mulan’s “chi.” Apparently people do not like that Mulan already has a sort of warrior streak inside of her already, as opposed to the 1998 version where she struggles to get used to the army. I think this is an overgeneralization. Mulan does struggle to become a soldier, as we can see in the training montage. Similar to the pole and the arrow at the top, she cannot reach the top of the mountain carrying the buckets with her arms outstretched like everyone else at first- then when she manages to do it, she knows she has proven herself. Plus, I like that they gave her more character. We don’t see any of Mulan’s childhood years in the original, so it is a little hard to understand why she is such an outcast. She only had one incident with the matchmaker and suddenly she is questioning her identity. But the 2020 version establishes that Mulan has been different from the start and everyone has known it since then. It makes it more believable that she brings dishonor on her family so easily. And just because she has strong chi doesn’t necessarily mean she is already a warrior. She is told to hide her chi as a child, and she does not tap into it easily- her commanding officers can sense something is holding her back. She is special, yes, but she isn’t “the chosen one.” She still works hard and she still relies a lot on her strategy instead of brute force just like in the animated version.
5. Lack of musical numbers. I do miss the musical numbers. But they did well with incorporating the musical themes from the original into the movie. The little “Honor to Us All” theme playing while she gets ready for the matchmaker? Perfect. The bit of “Reflection” playing when she reaches the top of mountain? Beautiful. And “Reflection” playing at the end when she is recognized as a hero? I was bawling. Also, this isn’t the first remake that Disney hasn’t made as a musical- the 2015 Cinderella did not include “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” (except in the credits like Mulan did), or “Bibbidi-Bobbido-Boo,” or “So This is Love.” I know that Cinderella is an older movie and may not be as beloved to this generation as Mulan, but those song are still incredibly iconic to the Disney brand and I didn't see anyone complaining about those songs being removed. Idk, I don’t think it’s a big enough deal to be upset over it, especially because they included instrumentals of the songs for the live-action version.
6. The addition of the witch. I can’t believe people are complaining about the personification of the hawk from the first movie- seriously, watch the remake and you’ll see how great Xian Liang’s character is. I love the parallels drawn between her and Mulan. Despite fighting for opposite sides, she sees herself in Mulan, and Mulan sees how she might end up if she had chosen the route of evil. I think they did it wonderfully and I’m definitely not gay for Gong Li...
7. The cost. This one, I understand. $30 is a lot to pay for a movie, but I get it because they’re losing money from not going to theaters for a few months. I paid the $30 because I felt like I had waited long enough to see it, I was foaming at the mouth the night of its release, and I had $30 I was willing to spend on it. Ofc Disney is a multi-million dollar company, so I don’t begrudge anyone pirating it bc screw capitalism.
I just had to get this off my chest because so many criticisms of this film seem so unjustified, weak, or deliberately negative. I swear, not just with Mulan, I see so many people who hate the live-action remakes- it’s like they’re trying to find things to hate about them, and I'm frankly getting sick of it. Like damn bitch why you gotta be so negative about everything?? The acting is great, the music is phenomenal and timeless, the costumes are so extravagant, the action sequences make you hold your breath in anticipation... y'all will find anything to whine about and I'm TIRED. And it seems like some of y'all are purposefully ignoring WHY they made these changes. These changes were made to adhere to the Legend of Mulan more closely, to make up for some of the racial insensitivity/cultural inaccuracies in the original, and to appeal to their Asian audience. the 1998 version is a VERY Americanized way to tell they story- so stop complaining, you got “your version” that appeals to you.
Some things I loved were
1. Mulan’s sister. It’s not often we see Disney princesses with siblings. Even though she didn’t have much screen time, I loved Xiu and the relationship she had with Mulan.
2. The phoenix symbolism. In Mulan (1998), there is heavy dragon symbolism as Mulan is preparing to run away to the army. This insinuates that Mulan is the dragon, the protector of the family, and that is why the Great Stone Dragon doesn’t awaken later. In this version, she is instead guarded and represented by a phoenix. In Chinese mythology (correct me if I'm wrong), the phoenix stands for yin and yang, harmony and is often the female counterpart to the dragon. The wings specifically represent duty, which is why the wings of the phoenix spread behind Mulan when she saves the emperor singlehandedly. Though I don’t know if they intended this, in Greek mythology the phoenix is a symbol of death and rebirth. Mulan is reborn again as Hua Jun, but ultimately in this version she is not discovered as a girl, she chooses to fight as one. The moment she does, “Hua Jun died, and Mulan was born again,” as she sees the phoenix once more. Mulan is the phoenix, and she brings harmony after defeating the Rourans. It’s beautiful.
3. The avalanche scene. A lot of the battle scene was different, but I loved that they kept in the avalanche from the original. Mulan’s planning in this one shows how big her brain is, and how well her strategy works.
4. Xian Liang and Honghui. As I already mentioned, I really loved how they portrayed these characters.
5. The fight scenes. God they really got the perfect actress to play Mulan. Liu Yifei leaning back to avoid an arrow from a Rouran? Impeccable. Mulan’s display of her techniques when she and Honghui get into it when they’re supposed to be practicing? So cool.
All in all, I loved this movie just like I love all of the other Disney princess live-action remakes. Disney obviously spent a lot of money on the action sequences, the costumes, the backgrounds, the historical accuracies, the casting, the storyline, everything is amazing. I will definitely be watching again.

Dear 91teivos,
Mod Vera: Thanks! Everyone in the world is going through some kind of existential crisis, so it made sense for the AA characters to join the party! (And since it was another follower who gave us the idea, we might just keep that idea in the think that after all...)
Tumblr media
Dear dawsongfg,
Mod Vera: No need to apologize! We like to space out letters from specific people a little, but we’ll answer as many as we can!
Tumblr media
(Referenced Letter)
Dear Bluedragoncody,
Co-Mod: Don’t worry.  I doubt they’ll have much luck against the Ace Attorney crew, even without the Proto Badger.  They have the ultimate weapon against despair in their arsenal, after all.
Tumblr media
...They’re doomed, aren’t they?
I can’t make any promises, but if I ever gain enough skill in the art of animation (which has been a dream of mine for a long time, it turns out), I’ll keep that idea in mind.
Tumblr media
Dear skibot99,
Mod Vera: Probably Tumblr bein’ weird. (What else is new?)
Tumblr media
Dear sheeeesh,
Mod Vera: Mods get brought on as needed, as you can see with the arrival of Mod Edgeworth! Also, DGS2 is one of the few AA titles I’ve never played, but rest assured. Where there’s a letter, there’s a Mod who can answer it!
Mod Edgeworth: To add to Mod Vera, even if you weren’t accepted during any mod applications, that doesn’t mean you have lost all chances. I applied early January and lost to Mod Vera. Regardless, Co-Mod informed me that, even though I was rejected, he saw my potential and kept me in mind for if I was ever needed. Now, here I am.
Just because you get rejected, that doesn’t mean it’s game over. Show that you have potential and make yourself known by sending letters to us. That is what I did, after being rejected. I made myself known to the mods by sending letters. We do read them and they tell us how much you know the characters and games of AA more than any application. Of course, you must also follow the guidelines. That just goes without saying.
Co-Mod: I think my actual words were something like “Don’t tell anyone, but you were my second choice.”  But yeah, what they said is true -- becoming a Mod here, like many things, may or may not happen to you, but you can definitely increase your chances by waiting patiently and demonstrating your potential.
As for DGS2 letters, I’m afraid those are still off-limits unless you know of a way to play or watch the game in its entirety, translated into English.  I guess I could check to see if the Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2 channel finished translating...
Tumblr media
(Translation: Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!  ...D-Don’t tell me?!)
...Okay, looks like I have some watching to do.  Don’t know how I missed that.
So, uh...  That part in bold was what I was going to say.  Now that both games are finally getting an official English version, all I can say is, hang tight!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Previous Post)
Dear Inferno again,
Co-Mod: Yeah, I agree.  I was just joking around.  For anyone who didn’t catch it, that was a reference to Sbemail #108.
The event’s technically over, but we’ll answer the rest of the April Fools’ Day letters when they reach the bottom of the queue.  I’m as eager to see Trucy’s reaction to the news (after the stunned silence) as anyone else, after all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Video in Letter -- Strong Language Warning)
Dear Ella,
Mod Edgeworth:
Tumblr media
I can’t see the first link and....
Tumblr media
How did you find this masterpiece and where can I play this game?
Co-Mod: We don’t check for direct messages on Tumblr, if that’s what you’re referring to, so it wouldn’t have made any difference anyway.  You can always send links in your letters, of course.
Tumblr media
(Previous Post)
Dear Inferno,
Mod Edgeworth: That mad lad would be me and thank you.
Tumblr media
I like to put my heart and effort when answering these letters. With this one, I figured you wanted to see Trucy in costume, so I just searched up an image on Google for the Ancient One’s costume, a sprite of Trucy and a bald head to put on her. The rest I photoshopped on GIMP.
We’re still going through letters from January. Hopefully we will get the rest of yours soon enough.
Tumblr media
Mod Edgeworth: Thank you very much. Your support and the others’ support that have liked, commented and reblogged it mean a lot. As you have stated, a majority of the fandom seem to consider him the worst. I’d like to think it’s because how AA had created this villain of a character to be universally hated was pure genius. Not even the Phantom gets this much hate… and that’s saying something.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, I’d like to keep my real identity outside this blog a secret. I write a lot of letters here and I don’t want to break the spell for anyone. Think of it like a Disney theme park. The cast that play the characters will never admit their true identities, outside of family and close friends, to prevent the experience from being ruined. I want to do the same as a Mod. I don’t want to break the spell of writing to your favorite AA characters. This blog had helped me through my tough times and I want to help everyone else as a mod.
However, I will answer your letters and, if you post anything on your account, a mysterious friend I know may linger and give you a like ;)
Tumblr media
(Previous Letter)
Dear Ali S. Fakenamington,
Co-Mod: Beautifully so.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Previous Letter)
Dear Sinyove,
Mod Edgeworth: That letter was made in 2012 before AA5 and AA6, which was WAY before I became a part of the AA fandom. I’m certain a lot of us were not here when this letter was made, except maybe Co-Mod, but you’ll have to speak with him about this. I will say that the mod that answered this is no longer working here... I think. At the very least, I haven’t heard from him.
That being said, AA4 or Apollo Justice was the first AA game I’ve ever played. Despite all of the hate I saw towards that game, I still loved it regardless. Though, having not played the trilogy, playing the tutorial of AJ was a pain in the ass. I remember going to YouTube to find out how to beat it, because it was so hard. I also played it on PC.
I do see where The Mod was coming from. Had the two sequel games never existed, Apollo Justice would have more holes than my brothers’ socks. My only critique is that Phoenix wasn’t any better either with having Mia babysitting him during almost every trial AND investigations. Hell, Phoenix needed Mia to know how to talk to a kid, talk to a perverted old man, almost gave up in most of his trials in the first game and never conducted a trial without Mia until Turnabout Goodbyes when Maya literally couldn’t summon her. For the most part, Apollo was doing fine on his own without Phoenix, with only Trucy assisting him for the two middle trials, only almost giving up once and Phoenix having assisted him during times when Apollo was not in a normal situation (like when the criminal turned out to be his own co-council/mentor or when he had to lead a trial that included the Jury System). That’s more than Phoenix ever did on his own in the first two games and I think Apollo deserves more credit than he got in that letter in my opinion.
Tumblr media
For me, Apollo Justice is one of those games you either like or you hate. I love it for what it is. My least favorite AA game would have to be Ace Attorney Investigations, the first game. The second one is my absolute favorite.
Co-Mod: Sadly, I haven’t seen or heard from the Mod in a while, so it may be time for us to declare him MIA again.
Tumblr media
Erm...  Sorry, poor choice of words.
I’m fairly certain I wasn’t around 5 years long ago, but I have to say, Capcom did a great job of making Apollo and his story more interesting over time.  He may not be Phoenix, but he certainly carried his legacy forward pretty well, both as an attorney and as an Ace Attorney protagonist.
Now, WHAT ABOUT ATHENA ALREADY!?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dear BDC,
Co-Mod: It fits like a glove, if you ask me...although it also kind of reminds me of 101 Dalmatians.  And thanks for that bit of info!  I never get tired of watching people enjoying the fun dialogue and plot twists of Ace Attorney, so I might have to look him up.
I’m not sure I feel the same about watching Dahlia’s voice actress, though.  I’m sure she’s a nice person and all, but the thought of hearing that voice for so long...  *shudder*
Tumblr media
(Previous Letter)
Dear dawsongfg again,
Co-Mod: I wasn’t trying to say that natural deaths can’t happen in the Ace Attorney universe, just that most deaths aren’t what they seem.  I knew right away that Archie Buff’s death was no accident, for one thing.  Waaaaay too much of a coincidence, know what I mean?

I’ve been reading your dad Chazz thread and it’s super cute!! I wanna know how does Chazz react when his kids reach a milestone? (First laugh, first word, walking etc)
(( First of all, thank you very much! It's hard to write something you don't have any experience with and it's very comforting to know that it's not a pile of trash (I know I use very extreme words when talking about my writing, do not mind that too much). On top of thanking you for the kind words, I want to double thank you for writing this ask- it's encouraging and nice and it has made me very happy. On to the question c: ))
Dad Chazz headcanon dump under the cut!
For him to be a dad, Chazz needs to have matured emotionally A LOT. Of course he doesn't lose his playful side, but becoming an adult does imply that he can't be the same person he was in high school. Specifically what we need to touch upon here is his openness and honesty with his feelings: it's one thing to tell your friends that you hate them when they know it isn't true, but you can't do that to a child without them taking it to heart. That's something Chazz would be very aware of, so I believe he'd drop his guard around the kids in order to avoid saying anything he doesn't mean. Rather than being a character trait, denial becomes more of a gimmick- it doesn't come from insecurity, rather from acknowledgement of the aspects of himself that he's come to regard as faults.
Now, he's the youngest of three and was clearly never a priority for his parents or for his brothers (while no canon sources confirm this, nobody becomes an attention seeker from being smothered with affection) and I wholeheartedly believe that he's mildly salty about the fact that no pictures of him as a child were ever taken (especially because he's seen Chosaku and Shouji's). So the first thing is: pictures. He takes them and he prints them out. He must keep orderly albums and always write down the time and place in which each photo was taken. He likes to keep mementos and believes it's an act of love to show that he cared enough to do it.
So then, first laugh. That depends. If it was elicited by either him or the Ojamas, he'd be on cloud nine- making his child laugh has to mean he's best father in the world material, right? He'd probably get carried away and do something stupid (fall off the stair on purpose levels of stupid) to keep the child laughing. If it was because of someone else, then he'd just...
Tumblr media
... Make that face. Smile fondly and admit to himself that humans might not suck so much after all.
First word. It, again, depends on what it is. However, leave it to him to take two random syllables and decide that the child has spoken. The reaction to that would be a loud scream of glee- possibly chasing his partner(s) around the house to shout about how the baby has said the first words and, last, but not least, calling Atticus (unless he's the partner, of course) to rant about it. Atticus has to know that the baby uttered two syllables that were most definitely not intentionally meant to form a word.
First steps. He does not trust the child to walk without falling over despite them having managed some steps, so while he's definitely happy and had most surely taken a picture to commemorate, he's also anxiously telling his partner to not let the kid walk on their own- they need to be monitored because otherwise they'll fall and no, he doesn't want to commemorate the first hospital stay just yet. Yes, he's a worrywart. What could you expect from a control freak.
In general he'd be very... supportive? As in very vocal with praise. First drawing he gets to hang in the office? A goddamn masterpiece. The kid has to know. They have a future in the arts. It's so good. Chazz could actually cry because of its sheer beauty.
First day at school? He's so damn proud. Fucking show them who's boss. You are, kid. That's fucking right. Punch anyone who tells you otherwise in the face. With words, of course. Your knuckles aren't worth getting scraped over some dumb kid. But yes, also study, it's good for you and Mathematics are far more interesting than they seem.
First bad grade? Eh. happens. He'd tell a story about his first failures- even make one up if the real ones aren't 'bad' enough. He tries to get them to laugh it off because it doesn't matter, he isn't disappointed, what matters is that they keep trying. It's ok to be bad at things. He keeps a recording of the one time he tried skateboarding just so he can show that you can be cool (like Chazz Princeton™) even when you aren't good at everything.
By the way, no, he doesn't swear in front of the kids. He has a really hard time with it. He's very relieved when they grow up and he can finally let loose. First time the kids hear him swearing? It isn't the first time, because they overheard him trash talking Aster Phoenix. They probably tell him it was about time he revealed his true nature. He just laughs because heck yeah, his kids are that smart (it didn't take a genius, Chazz). First time a kid swears? Intimidating glare until he actually goes, bends down and places his hands over their shoulders. "Not 'feck', kid. It's 'fuck'."

OK, you must be sick of me by now, but it's-a me, nerd anon, going stir-crazy at home and liable to spread headcanons around your inbox. How about this: Miles Edgeworth has learnt it's okay not to be okay, and he tries to impart this wisdom to his kids too, esp. the ones who put up the biggest front of being OK And Happy All The Time: Kay and Trucy. (You don't want to be a burden when people have already abandoned you once; they might do so again if you Fail To Be Pleasant and Amusing.) /cont.
Kids aren't happy all the time, they're messy small people just learning emotional regulation... like consider Dadworth and a preteen Trucy being moody af, all "if you're done throwing things, come sit your grumpy butt down here and pet the dog". You got your heart broken? Miles has some wry-ass Boys Are Very Stupid stories and no compunctions about letting you eat ice cream while crying as long as you don't puke. Also, if anyone knows the value of a good brooding sulk? Miles Edgepants. (cont.)
I think that Edgeworthian Self-Aware High Dramatics would lend some sort of capacity to relate to life being difficult for overwhelmed kids/teens... also bc I honestly think Miles told Phoenix he liked him when they were kids and Phoenix immediately started talking about some girl he thought was cool, and the frog he saw on his walk to school, and Miles has never been the same since lol. I think he's kind of Bad at People, on general terms, but also So Bad He's Great in an Earnest Way, too.
Hello again nerd anon!!! And to the contrary when I logged on I was just wondering if you’d sent anything else so I am still appreciating your headcanons!!
That’s a great interpretation of Trucy, when you add abandonment issues to her usual “a magician must always smile and be entertaining :D” attitude then you get some reeeeaaaally messed up problems. I feel like she never really puts down her happy mask except for in front of Phoenix, then later Miles and Apollo when she starts to trust them more and accept them into her family. (Athena too someday if Capcom ever *siiiiigh* lets their female characters interact meaningfully again...)
Kay probably doesn’t have as extreme abandonment issues by virtue of her dad leaving really not being anything he did willingly or anything she had a hand in (unlike SOME PEOPLE *glares at Zak Gramarye’s corpse*) but it definitely does say something that her “default” personality according to aai2 case 4 is very insecure and shy... I mean Capcom’s favourite assistant character is “spunky and happy to cover up deep, deep trauma” which I do like but also... some variety would be nice...
anyways,,,, yes Miles finally learning how to actually deal with and regulate his emotions and trying to help his kids with it is so nice. He knows very well what can happen if you go your whole life not knowing how to actually deal with feelings (given his entire mess of a life, and Franziska being a complete mess despite not dealing with the Direct Trauma of a parent dying when she was at a young age, presumably)
and ghdkfhgh yeah Gregory Edgeworth, Greatest Dad Ever (and also probably bisexual at least according to my headcanons) definitely would have told Miles about the different sexualities and such at a young age, letting him know that he’s loved and supported no matter what... so baby Miles probably knew he had a little baby crush on Phoenix, whereas I feel like Phoenix didn’t really know that he COULD possibly have a little baby crush on Miles at the time (though he absolutely did) so there absolutely was a conversation like:
Baby Miles: Phoenix... I like you...
Baby Phoenix: I like you too Miles you’re my best friend!! anyways look at this cool rock I found on the street and --
Baby Miles:
I see Miles as being Bad At People in general as well, and his way of giving advice is extremely blunt and straightforward -- which would, I think, be a good thing for both Trucy and Kay, despite it being kind of harsh at times, because both of them have dealt with enough lies and deceit in their lives that the harsh honesty is really refreshing.
