What can I say? Seeing #FatAndFrantic again after all these years as a live stage show was just phenomenal. A real time to re live my yoof!! Found out this morning that my brother and mother recently had a conversation that went a little bit like this:

"That's just it - I've caught AgingDisgracefully not covering their mouth when she coughs or sneezes, yet she's the first one jumping and hollering at MY kids when they do the same!"

Couple of points to be made here:

I absolutely DO cover my mouth when I cough and sneeze, as my Dad drilled that into our heads pretty much from infancy. He was big on saying please, thank you, excuse me, and covering one's mouth/nose when they cough or sneeze. If I don't cover my mouth with my hand (that I then promptly wash/sanitize), I turn and sneeze/cough into my arm.

I've NEVER yelled at those kids - not once. I will get up and walk out of the room before I raise my voice to them, because I remember how much it sucked getting yelled at by our parents as a kid and I refuse to inflict that on the next generation. The only thing I can figure out he means by "jumping and hollering" is me saying "Cover your mouth, please" when they sneeze directly in my face (which happens CONSTANTLY)

OF COURSE I'm going to be less than thrilled when you bring your sick kids around me - I'm an immunocompromised germophobe, and have been for most of my life. The common cold has been known to lay me flat out for weeks. I was sick for quite literally a MONTH this year after he brought his sick kids around, insisting it was just a cold and then later admitting that the kids had been getting over an upper respiratory infection (I tested negative for COVID on the at-home rapid tests, but was never able to obtain a PCR test - so who knows). This came less than six months after he brought them over while they had RSV, which subsequently spread to our 65+ year old immunocompromised mother.

I'm not obligated to let your kids sneeze or cough in my face at-will. I don't know when this mindset of "HOW DARE YOU CORRECT MY CHILD!!" came into play, but I fucking hate it. He's right - I shouldn't be the one telling his kids "Cover your mouth, please"; That's his job as the parent to teach his children basic germ prevention. He's a g-ddamned nurse, for crying out loud! He knows all about not spreading illness and yet....

I have recently discovered the joys of slow cooking and decided to make a lamb shank recipe I found online.

This seemed appropriate to complement the frozen hunk of unidentified meat object found in the freezer.

The recipe called for 2 cups of red wine.

We were out.

A walk to Aldi ensued.

I am a professional musician. I compose on a pretty high level and sing in studios for all kinds of different projects. A very religious friend died and her family asked me to do the music at the funeral. I played piano and sang the (Christian) songs they requested. It was an absolutely beautiful funeral. She would have loved it. Afterward, three people mentioned that my singing and piano playing were "anointed" and they felt the Holy Spirit during the music. Translation: Your music was really good so it must have been God doing it. I, the atheist, just smiled and said, "Thanks."
