How to Write What You Want

Okay. So. This is pretty easy, and also really fun to do in my opinion!! You can do any of these first, and you don’t have to do all of them. When I’m sick of writing or stressing about it, I love to do some of these and just have fun with it :)))

Choose your theme.

Figure out what the theme for your story is going to be.

The theme is basically the lesson you’re trying to teach your audience without being preachy. The way we do is through characters. We watch characters go through some crap and learn a lesson, changing for better or worse. The lesson, the thing your characters learn or stand for, is your theme.

Figure out what you want to show the world.

Whether your characters have negative, positive, or flat arcs, there should be a lesson for the audience to see. The character doesn’t necessarily have to agree with that lesson, as shown by villain plots where characters choose the wrong path. Audiences can still see that they chose the wrong path, and the theme is still visible.

So just...what do you want to teach an audience?

Write whatever lesson you want.

Write it down.

Create your characters.

You can make lists of things you want in characters, different personality ideas, physical description rants, whatever you want.

Got an idea for a character?

Write it down.

Make a list of your favorite tropes and clichés.

Clichés are okay. You might disagree, but I believe that tropes are excellent. They exist for a reason. People love certain stories, and they want to read more just like them. If we didn’t do tropes, where would readers find those stories?

You can make a list of your favorite tropes, whether they be quests, found family, certain character dynamics, anything you love to read in all your favorite books to see in movies.

Make a list. I dare you. Pick a few.

Write a book.

Any location ideas.

If you have a location idea...write it down.

Abandoned castle? River? Big boat? Rowboat? A specific inn? A kingdom? Two kingdoms? More kingdoms?

Shrug. It’s your story.

Any random ideas.

Write. Down. Any. And. Every. Ideas. You. Have.

Literally anything you want. Any random ideas you have. Write them down. If you want trees, hunting, and early morning rays to happen, write it down. What what you want and whatever you like. Have fun with it.

Writing is supposed to be fun. So put all the stuff you love to see in stories and include them in your own to make one giant bundle of love.

If you want historical fantasy to be combined with certain modern elements, do it. If you want a village surrounded by lava, do it.

The funniest thing for me about Ennard is that they are treated like a dude and as he as his own individual character and a male character at that, but essentially they are 90% not a he at all, I mean Ennard is composed by she/hers and they/thems and somehow Ennard is characterized in the fandom as a he

Like Circus baby is essentially Ennard for the most part given she has the control over the body for mostly so ennard is just a really fucked up stand by body of circus baby, which means she is also Elizabeth Afton, like dude Elizabeth Afton IS Ennard alongside the rest of the fun times and ballora, but they don't really control ennard

It's so funny to me the collective vision the fandom has of ennard and just remembering technically ennard is an 8 year old girl or smt along that age

they killed many a technician/security guard/etc in order to get all the parts needed to look this fresh, but it was well worth it. in their opinion. the things you do for fashion, amirite?

I mean. They kinda ruin it immediately because the first thing they do after assembly is crawl into a fresh corpse but. It's the thought that counts.

Anyway yes this is Ennard, any pronouns can apply bc there's multiple people in there and at least one of them doesn't give a shit. I based them off of the joker/wild card because the rest of the Funtimes are based off of a card deck (CB = hearts, Ballora = spades, FT Foxy = diamonds, FT Freddy = clubs... Also LOLbit and FT Chica are stars and royals respectively but they aren't part of ennard) and I realized that it would be a perfect fit.

Unsure how I feel about this yet! Kinda thrown together, kinda thought through... bit of a mess but she's working on it. I'll probably improve the design eventually lmao.

Bonus bit: the "hat"/,, idk ears? Head thingy? can move just like the rest of their body

I’m a little bit obsessed with tea staining at the moment. I haven’t been finishing my cups of tea recently whilst working from home so any of the cold dregs gets used to make nice designs on my planners and notebooks.

Pros are that it makes the pages look a bit more interesting and it’s fun.

Cons are that it takes a long while to dry and it does cause a bit of bleed through from previous pages as you can see on the picture on the left but usually it’s fine with the Hobonichi. If you want to try to do this on your own notebooks obviously the higher the gsm of your pages the better.

If there are any people out there that can think of a reason NOT to do the tea staining let me know but otherwise if it’s fun, I’m going to keep doing it lol.
