It’s that time again! Adrinette April is almost here! We’re so excited to be celebrating these two again, and we hope you all are too! Big thank you to one of our mods @chocoluckchipz for designing the calendar again this year. Thank you so much, Lucky! <3
Prompts were selected by the Adrinette April discord server! If you’d like to be part of prompt selection in the future, send @purrincess-chat a message for an invite!
To participate, just follow the listed prompts and use the tags #adrinetteapril2023. To make life easier on our mods, please spell it ADRINette not ADRIENette. It keeps us from having to search multiple tags for submissions.
A few ground rules:
1. This is a salt free event. Please keep negativity and discourse out of event submissions.
2. Please center your submissions around Adrinette. There will be other months to celebrate the other sides of the love square later this summer, so please keep your focus on Adrinette for this event.
3. NSFW is allowed, but please tag it and put it under a read more.
4. Pertaining to Spoilers: For the purposes of this event, we will be accepting submissions with spoilers for any officially released episode of ML. We will not accept any submissions with leaked content that has not premiered in an officially released episode. Please be considerate of those who wish not to be spoiled to leaked content. For the out of order episodes, please use appropriate episode tags in addition to the #ml spoilers tag, so people waiting to watch episodes in order can avoid spoilers. (ex: ml emotion, ml revelation, etc) Submissions containing leaks will not be reblogged.
5. Have fun!
If your submission hasn’t been reblogged within 48 hours of you posting, feel free to reach out via ask or message @purrincess-chat privately. The mod team will do our best not to miss anyone, but sometimes things slip through. Please be patient and respectful. We are not skipping anyone on purpose.

Day 5: School Project ✏️
Adrien, Marinette, Alya and Nino worked on a school project at Alya's house and then stayed overnight. The guys all lay down on the floor together... And in the end, Adrien and Marinette slept in an embrace 🥰

I had to work on the work of the neural network in Photoshop, but I really liked the final version 😇

Sick Day
Once again a tiny bit of Ladynoir has snuck into my Adrienette April haha. I hope you guys like it! It does contain spoilers from s5 up until Derision so please watch those first! Lemme know what you think!
AO3
Ladybug and Chat Noir had “sick days”. That wasn’t to say that they ever took them during akuma attacks. No, they were always ready to protect the people of Paris. But, every so often, on quiet nights, instead of patrolling, they would just sit and talk.
It was nice. It gave both superheroes a chance to relax and erase some of their worries. And, honestly, she needed it now more than ever with the rise of Monarch.
Ladybug landed softly onto the rooftop just across from the Eiffel Tower, a smile stretching across her face as Chat turned to look at her. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a beautiful, golden glow on the city.
“Can we take a ‘sick day’ today, m’lady?” he asked practically as soon as she had landed. His wide, green eyes were eager as he begged her to consider his proposal.
Giggling, she sat down next to her partner, ruffling his hair. “Sure, mon Chaton. We haven’t had one in a while.”
The two superheroes gave a sigh of relief, cuddling even closer together. Ladybug’s head rested gently on Chat’s shoulder, watching the sunset as they enjoyed the simple comfort of each other’s presence.
It was lovely. The ache in her heart slowly ebbed away as the stress of the last week disappeared. Tonight, she could just be. No worries about responsibilities or duties. Just a simple, peaceful quiet with her best friend.
So, when Ladybug returned home and detransformed, she fell asleep quickly for the first time in a while. Honestly, Marinette wished that more days could be like that in her civilian life. A day where she didn’t have to worry about school or anything else.
But, life goes on. Her alarm rang early that morning and Marinette was grateful that she finally got enough rest to wake up on time for once.
And so, pulling on her clothes, she happily made her way to school. Excited to greet her friends and especially Adrien. Marinette was still unsure about what exactly their relationship was.
She wanted to be his girlfriend. More than anything she wanted to hold his hand, kiss his lips, and go on dates. But, she was still scared. Ridiculous worries that this was somehow still a prank designed by Chloé floated around her thoughts.
Her head knew that this wasn’t the case. That Adrien, as sweet and wonderful as he always was, ended his relationship with Chloé the second he found out about what Kim did. But, her heart was still afraid. Afraid of falling and finding out that she was wrong.
But, either way, Marinette was going to take it slow. She loved Adrien and she knew that one day she’d have the strength to work through her worries and finally tell him. She was just glad he was willing to wait for her.
Arriving at school, she was about to enter when she felt a hand gently grab hers. Squeaking in surprise, it gradually faded away when Marinette looked up and saw Adrien’s smiling face. She grinned back, wrapping him up in a tight hug.
“Adrien!”
He hugged her just as tightly back, lifting her so that her feet were just above the ground. “Marinette! I missed you so much!”
She giggled, feeling her cheeks warm as he put her back down on the ground. “You saw me yesterday!”
“And that was simply too long to be without my Marinette! Can’t you just stay with me the whole day?”
Her face turned even redder at his words, butterflies fluttering in her chest. Did he know how sweet he was?
Adrien glanced down at his phone before a sneaky, mischievous expression appeared on his face. “We’ve got some time before class. Do you want to relax for a bit first?”
Shyly, she nodded, letting him lead her over to a shaded area as he tugged on the hand he was still holding. As soon as Marinette sat down, Adrien instantly cuddled into her lap, sighing with contentment. She hummed too, wrapping her arms around him as she enjoyed the comfort of the moment.
Right now, there was no fear. No anxiety. It was just them. And it felt right.
The wind gently blew around them and Marinette cuddled closer with a shiver, enjoying the warmth Adrien provided. Her eyes began to droop and she curled one of her hands through his hair, playing with the strands she had wanted to run her fingers through so desperately for years. It was just as fun as she had imagined.
Adrien seemed to enjoy it too. An almost pleased rumble seemed to be coming from him.
Marinette smiled, wishing that every day could be just like this. Honestly, that sick day with Chat had done wonders for her mental health. Because right now there was no panic or anxiety.
Breaking their bubble of peace, though, was the sound of her phone chirping out a simple melody. Marinette winced. That was her second alarm. That was her get up and get ready for class now or you’re going to be late, alarm.
With quick, nimble fingers, she shut off the distracting, loud noise. She moved to stand up but Adrien didn’t budge. In fact, he nuzzled even closer into her lap with a noise of protest.
She chuckled softly, scratching her hand through his hair one last time before nudging his shoulder. “Come on, Adrien. It’s time to get up. We’re going to be late for class otherwise.”
“Don’t wanna,” he mumbled, turning his head into her leg as he rolled over onto his side. “Am comfy.”
Marinette had to clap a hand to her mouth to stop herself from cooing at him. How did she never notice how goofy and dorky Adrien was? He was just so silly and adorable.
She almost didn’t have the heart to move but then she glanced at the time and winced once more. They really needed to get up. Shifting slightly, she said, “Usually you’re dying to go to class. What’s wrong?”
He rolled back onto his back, his emerald eyes gleaming up at her playfully. “I want to spend more time with you.”
Pink dusted her cheeks at those words as the butterflies came roaring back. He was really going to kill her at this rate.
“Come on, Marinette,” Adrien whined. “Can’t we just take a sick day today?”
Her lips parted as her heart practically dropped in her chest. She had heard those exact words so many times before. Her mind flashed straight back to last night. Those same words coming out of a different boy’s mouth.
Two different boys... right? Not the same boy with the same tousled blonde hair and the same piercing green eyes... right?!
Okay, the panic was coming back now. Blinking harshly, Marinette scooted away, jostling Adrien from her lap as her back collided with the tree.
He sat up with a frown, looking at her worriedly. “Marinette?”
She shook her head quickly, memories racing through her thoughts at a breakneck pace. She had seen Adrien and Chat Noir at the same time. Hadn’t she?
“I-I’m sorry... I was only joking. We can go back to class now, Marinette. I promise we won’t be late.”
Adrien’s eyes were round and concerned, looking at her as though he was afraid she might break.
Sucking in a stuttering breath, Marinette slowly began to steel herself. Maybe it was just a coincidence. Maybe she only thought she heard him say sick day. Maybe it was something Adrien said all the time with someone else.
“I d-don’t... where did you hear those words?” she demanded, her heart thundering in her ears.
His frown deepened and he tilted his head with confusion. “What words?”
“T-the ones you said before... a-about taking a sick day.”
Adrien stiffened, his eyes darting away from her face before he quickly relaxed, shrugging casually. “I’m not too sure. I, uh, use it with a friend sometimes... I think. I don’t know. It’s a pretty common phrase, isn’t it?”
He looked over at her and now he looked suspicious of her. Oh my god, it really was him. Adrien was her Chat Noir. How could it have taken her this long to notice?
Marinette wrestled with her feelings. On the one hand, she was overjoyed at the idea that she might have finally found her kitten. On the other, she was overwhelmed with panic.
Hesitantly, she decided to test him once again. “Don’t you think someone might notice if we take too many sick days?”
“I don’t know,” Adrien replied quickly, “It depends on how many sick days we’ve already had before. Wouldn’t this be our first one?”
“Would it?”
The two of them stared into the other’s eyes. Neither of them wanting to be the one to say what they were both thinking.
Adrien broke first. “M’lady?” he whispered almost inaudibly, the word practically falling from his lips.
The giddiness won. Throwing her arms around him, Marinette moved closer and buried her head in his neck. “Mon minou! It is you!”
He stood up quickly, twirling her around in his arms. She squealed, tightening her grip around him.
After a while, Adrien put her back down, searching her eyes beseechingly. “I love you. So, so much! And I am willing to wait a million years for you if I have to. Because, Marinette, my bugaboo, it has only ever been you for me. No one else. Only you.”
Her eyes watered as she blinked back tears of happiness. It was time.
“I-I love you too, Adrien. And it’s only been you for me too, you know. Even when I thought I moved on to Chat, it was because I saw you staring back at me.”
He kissed her, picking her up once more as he pressed his lips against hers desperately. It was so similar and yet so different from the kisses that they had shared before. Because this time... this time they didn’t have to worry about identities or secrets. It was just them.
When Adrien finally pulled back, there was a clear gleam in his eyes. “I suppose now I don’t have to pretend to be jealous about that kiss you shared with Chat Noir.”
Marinette giggled, rolling her eyes. Shoving his chest lightly, she said, “Shut up, you dork. We’re going to be late for class.”
“Aw, but m’lady, I thought we were gonna take another sick day.”
“We already had one last night. We can’t afford to take another.”
“Ahh, you’re right. Paris might start to get suspicious.”
Marinette glanced at Adrien from the corner of her eye before reaching down and taking his hand in hers. He squeezed it tightly as they both made their way into the school, the bell for class ringing in their ears. Yep, they were definitely late.

Kisses in the Rain - Ch 1
Chapter 1 (of 3) is written for @adrinetteapril 2023 - Day 17 - Kiss in the Rain This is canon divergent from beginning of Kwami’s Choice Part One. Read on Ao3
Chapter 1: Adrinette
“I feel like we missed out on something special.” Adrien said. “Do you think we’ll ever get another chance?”
Marinette’s fist tightened around the earring in her hand. She wanted to respond, to take back her ugly lie that she didn’t love him, to tell him that she wanted what he wanted more than anything. But the miraculous cut painfully into her palm. She’d never get to be truthful with him. Everything would end the same way it had with Luka, only it would be worse because she’s not sure she would ever get over Adrien.
The same way she’d never get over Chat Noir.
 She choked back a sob.
“Good-bye, Marinette,” he said. And he slipped away, taking a piece of her heart with him.
The second the latch clicked closed Marinette let herself fall to pieces. She wasn’t allowed to love Chat Noir and she couldn’t let herself love Adrien. Which was impossible because Chat Noir always caught her every      single     time she had lost all hope, and Adrien was so sweet and so patient she      still     could barely form words around him. She couldn’t      not    love them. And that wasn’t going to change anytime soon because how did you make yourself stop loving someone just because it was a bad idea?
But no one could stop her from crying.
Her throat was raw, her eyes were hot, and her gut writhed with every sobbing convulsion. And she knew she could be akumatized like this, but she couldn’t clamp down on the torrent of feelings anymore than she could stop the sun from setting.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng, you have been an exemplary holder of the Ladybug. You’ve always used the power of creation for the greater good.”
Marinette sat up. Tikki sounded oddly formal, and she looked like she was about to cry.
“The task you’ve been performing has become too much of a burden, crushing you. Your mission is over.”
Marinette blinked at Tikki, her shock temporarily overcoming her grief.
 “Wh-what?”
“You can give up the earrings, Marinette. And then, you can finally be with Adrien.”
 Marinette blinked again.
Could she really do that? Just hand over the earrings and let Tikki subject some other poor soul to this responsibility?
Isn’t that what had been done to her though?
She didn’t owe anyone anything, did she?
She could let go of the earrings and never look back.
She was tired of responsibility and secrets. She was completely over having to sacrifice everything she wanted for something that should never have been her fight.
She had already slipped the second earring off when she froze.
If she did this she might never see Chat Noir again. Even if he happened across Marinette’s balcony he wouldn’t know she was his partner.
Hadn't she promised she would never abandon him? Just as he had shown time and again that he would never abandon her. And as much as she hated what being Ladybug had stolen from her, she couldn’t deny that she wouldn’t change anything because it had brought her Chat Noir.
And she loved him. And whether or not they could ever be together, whether or not she was able to pursue something with Adrien, she wanted him in her life.
She couldn’t give up Chat Noir.
 Not even for Adrien.
She gripped the earrings in her fist.
“No, Tikki. I can’t give up the earrings. Thank you, though, for reminding me why I still keep them.”
Tikki darted forward and nuzzled herself into Marientte’s chest.
“Oh, Marinette. I wish I could promise that things will get better, that they will work out.”
Marinette stroked her soothingly. “I know, Tikki. Thank you.”
 …
The moment his door clicked close, Adrien dropped all pretense and let himself fall face first onto his bed. He didn’t cry, but part of him wished that he could. Marinette didn’t love him anymore. He had just realized his own feelings, but they obviously weren’t new. It was just so unfair. What had he done wrong to lose her affections?
Or was he just not enough or too much, or just overall, unloveable? His mother had left. She hadn’t thought he was worth it. His father always found him wanting. And Ladybug had never been interested despite everything they had faced and been through together.
But Marinette was different. She had loved him once.
He hadn’t noticed, and now? Now, it was too late.
His fingers traced his bottom lip, trying to recreate the memory of her kiss. He wished he could have said yes to her as Chat Noir.
But it was hopeless. He was unlucky and cursed or something.
“Adrien Agreste,” Plagg announced, floating ominously through the air. Adrien made himself roll over so he could see Plagg hovering over him. “You have been an exemplary holder of the Black Cat. You’ve always used the power of destruction for the greater good, unlike me. Your mission is now over.”
 “But–”
“If you do this, you won’t have to hide anything from the ones you love. You can finally be yourself.”
Adrien shook his head. “How will that help anything? Marinette already said she doesn’t love me anymore.”
Plagg paused, his tiny lips pressing together for a moment. “Can you just trust me? It will solve everything.”
Adrien’s brows furrowed. “So the ring      does     make me unlucky then?”
Plagg had denied it over and over, saying that such associations with destruction were just superstition.
And now, Plagg looked so startled, but then his face lit up. “Yes! Exactly! Super unlucky. If you give it up everything will magically work out.”
Adrien snorted. Well, that clearly wasn’t it. But Adrien for the life of him, couldn’t guess what Plagg’s actual angle was.
“Is Ladybug trying to replace me and you’re just being nice about it?”
 “No! She adores you!”
“Are you mad that I ordered off brand Camembert last week? I swear they’re the same.”
“They absolutely are not! But no, that’s not what this is about. I’m serious. Can’t you just trust me?” Plagg asked.
Adrien had rarely seen him so serious, and so he had to believe him. Plagg always led him towards mischief but he had never once led him astray.
 “Okay.”
“Really?!” Plagg did a little dance in the air and Adrien laughed.
 “Yes, I always trust you.”
 “Give me the ring then.”
He started to slip the ring from his finger. It felt strange to let go of the object he had been trained to never relinquish. Even outside of superhero duties, being Chat Noir had once been his ticket to freedom and joy. He wasn’t certain when he had started to feel like another set of expectations that he could never hope to live up to. Where having a secret identity had once seemed fun, now just felt like it was a recipe to never ever show his full self to anyone.
What would it mean to be completely real with his friends? To never have to put his loved ones at risk just by caring about them too much?
To never have to hold back with Marinette?
The way he always had to with Ladybug?
 He froze.
 “Adrien?”
Ladybug who had lost everyone she could call an ally. Ladybug who had told him that she would never leave him. If he closed his eyes he could still hear her sobbing on the other side of his bathroom door.
 “What about Ladybug?”
 “What about her?”
 “I’m all she has left.”
“I would find her a worthy partner,” Plagg promised.
Adrien was shaking his head. “You can’t just replace all that time we had each other’s backs, Plagg.”
“It would be fine!” Plagg insisted.
Adrien shook his head. “I can’t abandon her.”
 His eyes squeezed closed.
 “Not even for Marinette.”
Brave self righteous Marinette who always seemed to have a sixth sense for when things were awry in his world, who never failed to bring a smile to his face, who always seemed to simply understand him when he barely understood anything himself.
How lucky he would be to have her in his life as more than a friend, as a      partner     in      every     sense of the word.
And suddenly he      was     crying. It seemed like it should be easier to let Marinette go than Ladybug who he had loved for so long.
 And yet, it wasn’t.
He felt the loss more deeply because now it wasn’t just her saying no. It was      him     making the choice. And he could barely stand it.
He whipped out his phone, shot her a text.
     Can we please talk?
 Her response was immediate.
     Of course.
He texted back just as quickly.
     I’ll be over in ten.
 …
She’s waiting for him outside the bakery, unable to stay inside despite the threatening cloud cover overhead.
He arrives before she is ready. She can’t look at him.
“I’m not here to change your mind,” he says. “I just… I didn’t want to end things like… that.”
She shakes her head. “I didn’t want to leave it that way either. I… I want you to know that I was lying.”
 His eyebrows come together. “About?”
“I do love you. I have since the day we met. I initially misjudged you…” and her throat closes off, and the words won’t come together, but this time it’s different than every other failed confession. She’s not nervous or tongue tied.
She’s breaking his and her heart at the same time.
 It’s not fair.
“Shhh,” he soothes, taking and squeezing her hand. “It’s okay.”
She lets herself fall into his arms for a second. She lets herself cry. No one can take away her tears. “I just… I didn’t want to tell you. I thought if you didn’t know… it’d be easier somehow? Because the truth is… even though I love you, I can’t be with you. Not right now. Maybe not ever.”
And her throat squeezes closed, every muscle is quivering, every bone is jelly. But she knows she won’t fall. Not when he’s holding her.
He nods. “I understand more than you know,” he whispers, kissing the top of her head. “I’m not asking for anything that you’re unable to give.”
She looks up at him. His eyes are softer than ever. And he’s smiling at her, like she’s blown him away instead of broken his heart. He’s never been as gorgeous as he is right now looking at her with the patient kindness that made her fall in love with him the first time.
Before she can overthink it, she rises to her toes and kisses him. For a split second he melts against her, and she lets herself pretend that this is the beginning of a new chapter between the two of them instead of a possibility stolen away by duty and friendship.
Raindrops fall on her head, but she doesn’t care, wanting the moment to last forever.
Until she’s the one to pull away.
“I think you were right,” she says.
“Hmm?” his eyes are still closed like he’s trying to memorize the moment.
She’s trying to do the same with the expression on his face. “We missed out on something special.”
His eyes flicker open. “Yeah, I think we did, too.”
“I hope someday we get another chance.”
He smiles softly, and brings her hand to his lips. “Me too, Marinette. Me too.”
He lets go of her hand and starts to walk away.
She wants to burst into tears all over again.
Then he whirls back around and offers her an umbrella that she never noticed he had.
 “Stay dry,” he says.
But what she hears is “I love you.”
She accepts the gift with trembling hands. “Thank you.”
But what she means is “I love you, too.”
 …
I plan to post chapter 2 during Ladrien June, and Chapter 3 during Ladynoir July.

Adrinette April: Day 8
“And the winner of the first prize is. . .” The anchor paused, and everyone in the auditorium collectively held a breath. “Marinette Dupain-Cheng!”
Marinette smoothed her skirt down as she stood up to head to the stage. Her heart burst with excitement. Alya whistled, and her parents and Juleka applauded enthusiastically.
The trophy was heavy in her hand as she held it up to rousing cheers. Two months of mind-bending work now felt absolutely worth it.
“As you all know, the prizes include a cash sum as well as an internship opportunity. . .” The anchor continued. “And we are proud to announce that Mlle. Dupain-Cheng will get the chance to intern at Gabriel!”
Marinette gaped in amazement. She heard the four other winners gasp and mutter in envy. Gabriel was notoriously exclusive with its internship opportunities. Marinette wouldn’t have any trouble getting into an art school after an internship there. She hadn’t even finished lycée. This was something out of a dream.
“Way to go, girl!” Alya laughed, hugging her as she stepped off. “Gabriel! That’s ridiculous!”
“Also a callback to our college days,” Juleka muttered, and then smiled at her. “Congrats, Marinette.”
Marinette couldn’t pretend her mind didn’t jump to Adrien every time Gabriel or the name Agreste was mentioned. A mix of nervousness and excitement caused her stomach to turn as she considered the prospect that she might be seeing Adrien more regularly. Then she shook herself out of it. Adrien had always hated being associated with his father’s company back in college, and there was no indication that that had changed.
“Thanks, Jule,” she said mildly as her parents swept her up.
“We’re so, so proud of you Marinette!” Papa said, beaming.
“Congratulations! Gabriel is such a prestigious posting! You certainly deserve this after all your hard work,” Maman said, taking up her hands.
“Thank you!” She laughed.
“Hey, Mari, I see some people you’ll be wanting to talk to,” Alya said, pointing at the stage. Marinette turned and gasped. Alya was right. There were several CEOs and fashion business and modeling agency representatives.
“Right! I’ll see you later. Come on, Juleka.” She dragged her protesting friend over to the people laughing and chatting by the stage.
“Ah! Mlle. Dupain-Cheng!” Alessandro Lesatz smiled at her, and Marinette just about died on the inside. “Congratulations on your win. I saw your portfolio, and I must say I wish to steal you from the Agrestes.” He noticed Juleka as Marinette blushed and thanked him. “Ah. Your model?”
“Yes,” Marinette nodded, “This is Juleka Couffaine.”
“Luka Couffaine’s sister!” Mlle. Rivera scrutinized the girl. “Well, you do good as a model. Would you like an interview some time?”
As Juleka stammered out a stunned answer, Marinette began to schmooze. She got half a dozen business cards and scores of compliments on her work, and even a few critiques. She hoped she took them all with a grace befitting someone about to intern at the most famous fashion company in the city. A couple actually gave her constructive feedback about something to improve on rather than just derision, which was useful even though disheartening.
“I’m so happy for you Marinette!” Tikki giggled, zooming out of her purse as she climbed up the trapdoor to her room after a celebratory dessert with her parents.
“Did she win? Did she win?” Pollen demanded.
“Right here, Poll,” Marinette smiled at the kwami. “And yes, I did. First prize!”
“Yipppppeeeeee!” Mullo and Kaalki screamed.
“Congratulations, Master Marinette,” Wayzz said sagely. “Didn’t you say an internship was also part of your prize?”
“Not just any internship, an internship at Gabriel!” Tikki said excitedly.
“Oh, this is so exciting!” Xuppu squealed.
“And romantic!” Added Ziggy.
“What? Why is that a big deal?” asked Longg.
“Aren’t in-interm-internships unpaid work?” Sass asked irritably. “It’s unfair and degrading – why are we celebrating this?”
Marinette laughed as several of the kwamis began to explain over one another, over the squeals and the begging for details Tikki was happy to provide. She was used to this chaos now.
She leaned back in her chair, considering her trophy. When would the internship begin? According to the anchor, the winners would receive emails near instantly. And Gabriel Agreste – or Nathalie Sancoeur rather – had always been scarily efficient.
Sure enough, when she clicked on her unread emails, she caught one from the Gabriel company, titled CONGRATULATIONS.
There was a list of instructions and rules after the typical congratulatory message and the attachment of the Non-Disclosure Agreement and Internship Contract she and her parents would have to sign. Marinette read through them carefully. To her immense shock, they said that if she managed to create a piece or a portfolio of pieces in the duration of her internship, whether for school or for competition or – she supposed – one of Jagged’s commissions, they would help and possibly put forth a model of their own and release it as part of the brand, with her name attached!
Marinette was speechless. These were excellent terms for an internship. Then again, the competition she had won was rather prestigious.
She began on Monday, right after lycée.
Nerves began to take over the excitement as Monday approached. Alya greeted her cheerfully after dragging her out of bed as they headed to school. “Internship first day today, huh?” Her friend asked. “Are you nervous?”
“No,” Marinette denied. Alya raised an eyebrow and she relented. “Fine. Maybe a little.” It wasn’t much more than the anxiety always swirling in her stomach – just the feeling of pins and needles, clamminess and a deep sense of dread.
“Want to talk about it?”
“Not really.”
“Alright. Want to rehearse what you’ll say to Adrien if you run into him?”
“Alya!” Marinette exclaimed, and the girl tossed her head back and laughed. “That was years ago! I’m fine around him now.”
“Just joking, girl,” Alya smirked, putting an arm around her shoulders. “Did you finish the English homework?”
The day seemed to speed by and yet crawl inexorably. Practically before she knew it, she was standing in front of the Gabriel office – a building spanning twenty-two floors.
“ID?” Asked a bored voice.
Marinette jumped. “Er. .  .” She started tentatively. “I – I don’t have one.”
The security guard frowned. “You don’t—”
“She’s our new intern,” interrupted someone Marinette knew very well. She turned to see Adrien smiling, walking forward with a purpose he hadn’t had back in college. “Marinette Dupain-Cheng? She should be on the notice given out to you.”
“Y-Yes, Monsieur Agreste,” the guard said, fumbling with papers. “You can go up, Mademoiselle. Please visit the office to get your ID and submit the signed papers and meet your supervisor.”
“Great!” Adrien beamed. “By the way, how is your daughter? Recovered from the flu?”
“Yes, she’s well now, thank you for asking,” The guard replied, clearly put at ease by Adrien’s easy demeanour.
“That’s good,” Adrien said, “Come on, Marinette. I’ll show you to the office.” Thanking the guard, she hurried after him. “Congratulations on the win! I’m glad you’re the one who’s going to work with us.”
“Us?” Marinette interrupted. “Last I heard, you weren’t at all interested in your dad’s company?”
And that had been only three weeks ago, at Luka’s concert. She didn’t see how things could have changed so quickly.
Adrien turned sheepish, ruffling his hair. Marinette pushed down the flutter of her heart at the motion. “Well, two weeks ago the winners of your competition were announced to the industries, so that they could say if and whom they wanted as an intern. And as much as I’m pleased you won and Father actually decided picking an intern was worth it, the lecture I received about deciding my path and focusing on my career now itself wasn’t very fun. He knows we’re friends, see, so he thinks I should be following your example.”
“Sorry about that,” Marinette laughed.
“Helping out in the business side of things made Father decide my modelling engagements are cancelled for the time being, so please, don’t be,” Adrien insisted.
“I remember you really hated modelling,” her voice softened with sympathy. “I’m glad you don’t have to do it anymore.”
Adrien smiled at her, and it was like sunshine. “I am too! It gives me some free time, too. At least business has a fixed number of hours. Modelling doesn’t. I’ll be able to attend Rose’s birthday party after all.”
“Oh, she’ll be so happy!” Marinette exclaimed. “She was hoping that all our old classmates could make it.”
“It’ll be fun to get together,” he agreed, and pressed an arm to hold the elevator. “After you, mademoiselle.”
Marinette giggled as she stepped in. “Such a gentleman.”
He smirked. “Glad my manners haven’t faded since college.” The elevator closed with a ding. Marinette felt a blush rising. She’d imagined various scenarios in college that included this: her and Adrien alone in an elevator. The only thing needed to complete the fantasy was the elevator to get stuck.
Fortunately or unfortunately, Gabriel had higher standards in elevators.
“The office is just to the left,” he stepped out of the elevator, pointing at the sign that listed various locations on the floor, including the office.  “M. Ducasse should be there. He’ll probably be the one to do intern orientation.”
“Alright,” Marinette smiled up at him. “Thanks so much, Adrien. I’ll see you at Rose’s party?”
He hesitated, looking for a moment younger like he’d been in college. “I’m – uh, I’m hoping before that?” She could only blink at him, taken aback. “C’mon, Marinette, this place and the business is boring enough. Really boring, if you promise never to tell my father or Nathalie I said that. Having a friend around would be fun. You always make things better.”
Marinette felt heat pool in her cheeks. In an effort to remain nonchalant, she turned away from him, towards the sign, “Well, I’m certainly not opposed to having one of my best friends keep me company in my first internship. I’m sure us running into one another would be complete coincidences.”
Adrien grinned. “See you around, then. I have to go, I’m already late.” With a wave, he strode to the staircase.
Marinette waved back until he was out of sight, sighing in hopeless, unfading love.
“You are Marinette Dupain-Cheng?” M. Ducasse asked as she stepped inside the office.
“Yes, M. Ducasse.” She replied, taking out the documents signed by her and her parents.
“Very well,” he said, comparing her profile to the photo on the ID. “Please hand over the NDA and employment contract, and take the ID card. This will give you access till the fifteenth floor. Your supervisor is Mme. Oppenord. She will decide the days and timings of your internship, as well as discuss other details.”
“Okay. Thank you,” she took the ID card and pinned it to her blouse. “Where can I find Mme. Oppenord?”
“She should be here any minute now,” he responded. “Have a seat. There’s some orange juice in the jug.”
She did so, marveling at the décor and the professional hospitality. Then again, there was a reason Gabriel was the most popular company in the design industry. The receptionist was right; her supervisor arrived within three minutes, and took a seat opposite and briskly introduced herself.
The next half an hour was a discussion regarding the responsibilities, duties, duration and timings of the internship. Marinette would apparently be mostly working in the clothes design and PR departments, which pleased her. She asked if she could help out in jewellery department as well, and was warned that going beyond coffee and typing jobs would perhaps be regarded as rudely overstepping by some, but that she was welcome to try.
“Onto the final matter,” Mme. Oppenord seemed like the type of efficient which got things accomplished in the snap of a fingers and left disorganized messes like Marinette staring after them in awe. “The unusual portion of the contract, if I may say so. You are promised help in any ongoing or future projects, including but not limited to a reasonable amount of resources, publishing, selling, modelling, wardrobe. . .?” She trailed off in a question mark.
“Er, yes,” Marinette answered, not sure what the woman was looking for.
“Very well. Do you have anything ongoing?” She couldn’t read Mme. Oppenord’s tone. Tired of this, or just the methodical need to move on to the next thing?
“Well, Jagged Stone has commissioned a few designs that I’ve only just completed,” she said slowly. “And usually, I post them on my website so my followers can get the ‘scoop’ of sorts – the things that the famous rockstar will probably, you know, start a trend with.” She finished weakly and winced.
“If your name is going to be associated with the Gabriel brand, you will have to make a few modifications to the process,” she commented, furrowing her eyebrows. Marinette bristled at that, but had to concede that she had a point. “And – Jagged Stone is okay with you publicizing his commissions like this?” She asked severely.
Marinette wasn’t sure if Mme. Oppenord actually hoped she was committing a crime. “He’s … known me since I was a child, and hence I think was rather indulgent when it came to contracts. He says it’s my designs, so I can do as I wish.” Jagged had always been like the brash, spoiling uncle to her. There was also the fact that Penny had a soft spot for her.
“Hmm.” That apparently garnered a raised eyebrow. “Very well. Bring me your finished designs – I’m your supervisor, dear, I can assure you I won’t be blabbing or copying,” she added when Marinette opened her mouth in instinctive indignation. She blushed, and the woman continued. “And I’ll see what I can do with regards to modelling and publicizing. I’ll have your contact with Jagged Stone as well, and your usual model—”
“I … don’t really have a contact?” Marinette said sheepishly. “I usually just call Penny.”
“As in Jagged Stone’s personal assistant?” Mme. Oppenord seemed a woman of few reactions, and Marinette wondered what it meant that she was giving so many only in their first meeting.
“Erm. Yes.”
“I suppose you’ll have to be there when I call then. . . And your model?”
“Juleka Couffaine.”
Mme. Oppenord stared at her. “The famous Luka Couffaine’s sister? Jagged Stone’s daughter?”
“. . . That’s the one,” Marinette said feebly. It really was a start to remember how well-connected she was. She certainly hadn’t though much of it back in college.
The older woman shook her head with – again, Marinette couldn’t read her expression. Which was frustrating. As Ladybug, she was used to dealing with akumas by reading their emotions and body language.
She was sent off to work soon enough. She spent the next couple hours brewing coffee and typing and sending e-mails, with one exciting excursion to the wardrobe department to help in an ongoing shoot. Mme. Oppenord told her that when she came on Thursday she would be helping organize the wardrobes used by the designers with the other interns, and that she could eat in the cafeteria before she left.
She sat down with two girls only a couple years older than her called Juliet and Andy, who were very friendly. She’d texted her parents that she would be home by eight-thirty, so she had half an hour before she had to leave. The girls were amazing sources about future schooling: Juliet went to university while Andy pursued jewellery making in a specialized school. Marinette had to consider her own options after lycée, so it was helpful.
“Oh my God,” came a squeal, “Oh, God, look! Everyone, look!”
There were instantly several other screeches and a hushed, “It’s Adrien Agreste!”
Sure enough, the blond was at the door, frowning as he looked around. When he caught her eye, she waved tentatively. His face brightened and he headed straight there.
“Why is he coming here?” Andy asked, voice reaching a previously undiscovered pitch. “Marinette, did you just wave ADRIEN AGRESTE over to our table?”
“You know him?” Juliet asked, sounding impressed but not as slavish as the others. Marinette had barely nodded when Adrien beamed at her, sitting next to Juliet.
“Hi, Marinette! How was your first day of work?”
“Good,” Marinette smiled back at him – it was pretty much impossible not to. Adrien always had a way of making her fluster and smile. “How was your day? As boring as you expected?”
“Pretty much,” he replied, making a face. “Except I had the prospect of seeing you to tide me over.” His eyes sparkled and her face burned. Adrien flirted with everyone, apparently having gained confidence after he entered lycée. Thankfully more lowkey than Chat Noir, though her partner had stopped declaiming his love to her recently.
“What exactly do you do here anyway?” She asked, putting her head on her chin to consider him. “Oh, and this is Juliet and Andy by the way.”
“I remember you helped in the jewellery in my last shoot,” Adrien said in recognition to Andy. She gulped, looking like she was about to faint, and nodded wildly. “Nice to meet you, Juliet.”
“You as well,” Juliet replied politely.
“As for your question,” he turned to Marinette. “I usually just shadow Nathalie, though Father has been coming here to show me the ropes.”
“Gabriel Agreste is outside the mansion?” Andy gasped, dropping her fork. “Here?”
“Right?” Adrien said enthusiastically, clearly not understanding the fangirling. “It’s a miracle! The last time he came out was nearly five years ago, during that fashion show. . . The one where I wore the hat you designed, Marinette.”
“Oh right,” she laughed sheepishly. “The one inspired by Mr. Pigeon.”
“That was inspired by Mr. Pigeon?” Adrien laughed too. “Right, the feather in the hat. Literally,” he winked. She giggled. “My father really did admire your work, especially the signature. I remember he called it ‘masterful’.”
“That’s a feather in the cap of any designer,” Juliet said, smiling, looking between Marinette and Adrien with shrewd eyes.
“Definitely,” Marinette agreed. “I think that competition was around the time when Mr. Ramier was first Akumatized.”
“You … know his actual name?” Adrien blinked in surprise.
“Well. . . The poor man’s been Akumatized enough times,” she joked. “I help him feed the pigeons sometimes.” She felt sorry for the man, as Ladybug and as herself. It was a bit of a joke, but loving pigeons that much to get Akumatized even with the charm she gave out? That was some commitment. Adrien’s face softened, looking at her.
“Nearly seventy, I believe,” Andy laughed.
“Seventy-three,” Both Marinette and Adrien corrected together. They grinned at one another.
“If you’ve already had a Gabriel model,” Juliet gestured to Adrien, “Then doing it again shouldn’t be much of a problem, should it?” Marinette hadn’t known her long, but she was fairly certain that wicked glint in her eye meant nothing good.
“What do you mean?” He frowned.
Marinette cleared her throat. “There was a clause in the internship contract that any ongoing or future projects while I’m interning here will be supported by Gabriel, including but not limited to—”
“Modelling,” he finished.
“Right. And she has one now,” Andy said, nodding. “Mme. Oppenord told you to bring your sketches in next time you’re here for deciding the model and everything?” She and Juliet exchanged a glance and then looked at Adrien. . . expectantly?
“I can do the modelling for you,” Adrien offered instantly.
“What?” Marinette gaped unflatteringly at him. “Adrien – you hate modelling! You really don’t need to do something like this for me!”
“No, really, it’s no problem. I’ll talk to my father about it. He knows we’re friends. He’ll probably be glad I want to model at all. In fact, he may thank you on bended knee,” he said, smiling crookedly.
“Well, that’ll be the day,” Marinette joked. “And a sight worth seeing. But you don’t have to.” She said again, feeling speechless at how unhesitatingly he offered to do something he hated for her sake.
“I’m happy to,” he replied. “Mme. Oppenord’s your supervisor? I’ll get Nathalie to tell her—” his phone rang. “Speaking of which. I have to go. I’ll see you?” He added hopefully.
Marinette wasn’t sure why he wanted to, but she would never object to seeing Adrien. If she did, the people around her ought to check for Akumatization or something of the sort. “Of course.”
Juliet and Andy pounced on her the moment Adrien left the table. “You didn’t tell us you were dating Adrien Agreste!” Andy cried.
“I’m not,” she protested. “We went to college together, and our best friends are dating. We’re just friends.” The words didn’t give her pain as they had back in college. Yes, she still loved Adrien, but he didn’t have to return her feelings. She liked being friends. It was fine.
“Didn’t look like it,” Juliet said, her eyes glittering. “But okay. Looks like we have a matchmaking job, Andy.”
Marinette crossed her arms. “Don’t you dare,” she scolded.
They dared.
When the son of the owner of the company requested something, things apparently moved rather fast. The very next time she went to her internship with her designs, Mme. Oppenord had frostily declared that an appointment with Adrien Agreste for modelling her designs had been set. She’d been rather hurtful about the fact that she clearly thought it was nepotism and not talent until she took a look at Marinette’s designs. Then she gaped, and behaved much nicer.
She was also pretty supportive. Marinette had stocked and organized the wardrobe, making friends with a couple of the interns helping, though some had looked down on her, all of them obviously being out of lycée. Mme. Oppenord had also let her select the colour palette of decoration of somebody’s party (with plenty of criticism, of course, but it was the thought that counted).
Adrien had met her at the cafeteria once more, this time walking her down to the gate. Andy had giggled and pushed her at him once.
After all these years, you’d think she’d be used to pushy friends shoving her at him. But nope.
He caught her by the waist, and just laughed while she stammered in apology and embarrassment. “Don’t worry about it, Marinette. After all these years, I’ve kind of grown used to it.”
“I really am madly clumsy,” Marinette tried to laugh it off. An odd look passed over his face.
“That can be an endearing quality,” he said softly. She nearly had a heart attack. Did he mean to call her endearing? Did he--? But no, he couldn’t. “I’ll see you Saturday evening for the shoot?”
“Why is it so soon?” She frowned, glad to get off-topic from her ‘endearing’ clumsiness.
Adrien smiled ruefully. “Father’s overjoyed, like I said he would be. He’s taking the opportunity to start the new advertising campaign he wanted me to star in. He wasn’t very happy with cutting down my modelling, even if it was for learning about the business instead.”
“I’m sorry,” she said, unable to think of anything else. At this point, as bad as it sounded, she was used to the way Adrien’s father acted with him.
He ruffled his hair. “Well, at least it’s for a good cause. Can’t wait to wear something of your design again,” he winked and headed back to the building, leaving her blushing.
“And she says there’s nothing romantic between them,” Juliet giggled.
Marinette scolded her all the way to the train station where they were leaving Andy and walking home.
Somehow, Juliet and Andy weaseled their way into the photoshoot. Andy was there helping with the jewellery anyway, but Juliet winked at her, rushing after the photographer in an effort to ‘assist’.
Marinette loved her new friends, but really.
Adrien had been right that one time: photoshoots and modelling were long and boring. Although assisting with the wardrobe, and exchanging glances and smiles with Adrien, and making sure her pieces were done justice and were right for Jagged and her website and glaring at Andy and Juliet made them less so.
The photoshoot went well enough, despite a couple hiccups and Vincent’s despairing that Adrien had had such a long break from modelling (exactly two weeks) and would continue taking a break after this (indefinitely).
What Juliet and Andy did afterwards though? The. Last. Straw.
She was going to kill them. Painfully. Despite Tikki’s admonishments about Ladybug having to be a model for good behaviour.
And now she was facing a celebratory dinner date with Adrien.
Great.

Adrinetteapril! Finally!
Already posted this awhile ago... But adrinetteapril2023 was what inspired this fic to come to existence in the first place.
Day 3: Sweets
Chapter 1
Adrien’s head tilted a little and his one eyebrow shot up in confusion seeing Marinette’s smiling face holding a small pink weaved basket in front of him.
Marinette invited him to the park for a small favor, though she didn’t say what the favor was, he’s happy to lend some of his time for the girl he loves.
“What’s that?”
Marinette sets the basket down on the bench and took the white cover revealing a bunch of chocolate chip cookies steaming with sweet delicious chocolatey aroma that smells the same as the one emitted by the Dupain-Cheng bakery.
“Hmmm…That smells…” He sniffed the air once more. “Delicious. Can I have one?” He said as his eyes brimmed with anticipation.
Marinette chuckled. She found his expression really adorable.
“They’re for you, silly. That’s what my favor was. My parents are trying new recipes for the bakery. This is one of those recipes and I would like to ask, could you taste test them for me? Its the recipe I invented. Just to see how they are in a customer’s perspective. If you don’t mind.”
“Of course I wouldn’t mind. I’d be happy if I can help you in any ways Marinette.” He gladly took one cookie and took one bite.
Adrien paused after the cookie hit his tongue. He stared at the cookie with shock. ‘What are these out of this world flavours? This sweetness with just the right balance. The brittleness that melts in your mouth. Hmmm…the chocolate….’ Adrien closed his eyes and savored more of the cookie, completely forgetting to take another bite because he wants to take more time to devour that one bite.
“This is…” He muttered after he swallowed. “I don’t care what this is! I want more!” He chugged down the rest of the cookie down his throat and took another one from the basket. And then another. Each of his hands was holding a cookie. He bits from one cookie to another. When that was finished, he snatched another pair.
“Uhm…Adrien? Too much cookies is not good for you…” Marinette asked in a concerned tone.
“Hmmm…Dibuseysomethin’? (Did you say somethin’?)” Adrien mumbled with his cheeks puffin like a chipmunk’s because of the cookies stuffed inside his mouth.
“Badawey…der delisus Marinette (By the way…they’re delicious Marinette).” Then he swallowed. Marinette handed him a thermos with tea inside. He gladly drank it before speaking again. “Sorry…That was rude. It’s just that, the cookies are really delicious, I couldn’t help myself. I’ve never tasted something that delicious in my life!”
Marinette chuckled. “I can see that.” She reached out her hand to him and wiped off the cookie crumbles in the corner of his lips. “I’m glad that you like them though. I didn’t know you were such a messy eater.”
Adrien’s heart melted at that small little gesture. Who wouldn’t fall for that sweetness of hers?
He chuckled. “Thanks.” He rubbed the back of his head, a little embarrassed of his sudden actions. “They’re really good…the cookies.” He reached out to the basket to get some more, but got disappointed when he felt the flat bottom of the basket.
A wave of dissatisfaction hit him.
“Uh…” He looked at Marinette with awkwardness. “Do you have more?”
“Sorry…I think you ate all of them. Only the crumbs were left. But I can make some more if you want to.”
Adrien’s eyes sparkled in delight. “Really?!”
“Of course. Tomorrow.”
“Yey!” He raised his hands in the air then hugged Marinette. “Thanks Marinette! You’re the best!”
“Uhhh…hehe…” Marinette patted his back gently. “Adrien’s…fragrance…” She sighed dreamily.
Adrien snapped back to his senses and let go of Marinette. “Sorry…Just…got a little carried away.”
“I’ll look forward to those cookies tomorrow.” He said.
“Sure thing.” She said rather excitedly.
Chapter 2
The Next Day…
Marinette entered their room very early like what Adrien suggested. She made sure to come early this time (which is a very rare occasion since she was racing with the school bell most of the time). But it’s for Adrien, so a little change won’t hurt for sure.
Except that Adrien was still not there when she arrived.
Some of her classmates, Alya, Nino, and Nathanniel were already there however. She went to her seat beside Alya and puts the basket atop her school desk.
“Hmmm…what’s inside that basket Marinette? It smells super good and sweet.”
She moved the fabric cover a little to let Alya see it. “Remember the new recipes that my parents are working on for the bakery? This is one of those recipes. Well, technically…kinda…This is actually my recipe… they allowed these to be included in their salable, if they’re successful. They’re still working progress…but Adrien already said they were delicious yesterday. So I made another batch for him.”
“Awww…that’s so sweet, Marinette. So you two went on a date yesterday.” Alya said, intrigued. “But why didn’t I get a free-taste? I want to try them too… They smell good and delicious looking.” Alya was staring hard at the cookies. Marinette could imagine her almost drooling.
“Sorry Alya. Adrien was the first one who came to my mind when I finished these yesterday. I guess I just wanted him to be the first one to try them.”
Alya sighed disappointedly. “I understand…but you don’t think that Adrien would mind if I take one cookie, right?”
“Uhm…” Marinette looked with uncertainty to Alya then to the cookie. The look on Alya’s eyes is of which those you couldn’t easily say no to. She stared at the cookies again and pursed her lips. Maybe Adrien wouldn’t really mind if she gave Alya one cookie. She did make a lot.
Besides, she also needs another taste tester for the cookies.
“I guess, you can have one. For another customer’s point of view.”
Marinette took one of the cookies from the basket and handed it to Alya.
“Thanks Marinette.” Alya said as she eagerly took the cookie.
Alya took a bite and Marinette got startled when her best friend suddenly squealed in delight.
“Wow…these are sooooo gooood.” And just like Adrien yesterday, Alya took her time to finish the cookie.
“Oh wow...you should definitely sell these Marinette. These will be a hit! I’ll even be your first ever customer.” Then Alya ate the rest of the cookie.
“Oh hey…what’s that?” Nino removed his headphones. He leaned over their table to check out what the commotion was about.
“The cookies that Marinette made are really delicious Nino…They’re out of this world! Marinette, could Nino also try one? If that’s okay with you.”
Marinette glanced on the basket…it’s really a good thing that she bought a lot. Adrien liked them so much yesterday that she didn’t notice she made this much. Even if she gives one to Nino, there’s still a lot left for Adrien.
“Yeah sure…then tell me about what you think of the cookie, okay?”
“Sure thing Marinette.” Nino accepted the cookie. “Thanks a lot.”
At least she could say for sure that the cookies are going to sell well.
Adrien arrived at the room with a commotion inside over something which surprised him. He was so excited to come to school today. But he forgot to restock Plagg’s camembert supply and Plagg was getting fussy over it so he didn’t have a choice but to immediately purchase them in a rush online and wait for it to be delivered. Luckily, it was delivered with a little spare time for him to go on time to school.
His classmates were all hogging over a specific location in the classroom: Marinette and Alya’s seat. Then he suddenly remembered the cookies. He got excited again.
“They were really delicious Marinette!” He heard the ever enthusiastic voice of Rose.
“Yeah! Where can we get more of that?!” Alyx asked.
Adrien wondered what they’re talking about. He got to his seat beside Nino. Then he saw the basket on Marinette’s desk. The basket which contains the delectable sweet dessert bread he just had yesterday. He leaned down a little and tapped Marinette lightly on the side of her shoulder.
She jolted a little and slowly turned to her with a terrified look which confused him.
“A-Adrien?! Y-You’re there! I didn’t see you come in!” Then Marinette did an awkward chuckle.
“Marinette…uhm…are those the cookies that you promised me yesterday?” He said referring to the basket. Excitement filled him to the core as the scent of the cookies from the basket entered his nose. He could already feel himself drooling over them.
“Uhm…yeah right… the cookies…you see…”
“THEY WERE DELICIOUS!” Alya suddenly shrieks as the rush of sugar invaded her being.
“I know!” Adrien said proudly with a chuckle. “So you had them too…I also did yesterday. So I asked Marinette to make some more.”
Because he couldn’t wait any longer as his cravings for the cookies rose to a really high level, he grabbed the basket from Marinette’s desk and brought it onto his desk. “Sorry Marinette…but I’ve been waiting for these since yesterday. I also almost couldn’t sleep last night because of my excitement for these.”
“Adrien wait---!” Marinette sounded desperate about something, but his head was too preoccupied of the chocolate chip cookies.
With a very high anticipation and excitement, he took the pink polka-dotted fabric lid covering the basket.
But then, he felt like his world was shattered into a million pieces.
The basket was completely empty. Only crumbs and the remaining scent of the cookies were left on the bottom of the basket.
Adrien glanced at Marinette, who was looking at him with guilt, then his attention was immediately caught by the cookie crumbs on the corner of Alyx’s lips, and on Kim…and on Rose…and on Nathaniel…and on Nino…and on each of his other classmates. Cookie crumbs were visible to a part of their faces.
Adrien’s lips shivered and he felt his eyes heating up as he slowly turned to Marinette once more.
*Sniff* “Marinette…my cookies…” He said with tears of disappointment clouding his eyes.
Chapter 3
Everyone in the classroom gasp. Adrien is on the verge of crying! And no one has ever seen him that way before. But for Marinette…this is a ‘heartstring tugger’.
She felt guilty for not leaving him any cookies which were supposed to be for him in the first place. Marinette smacked her palms together in front of her face and shut her eyes tight.
“I’m really sorry Adrien! I didn’t mean to not leave any cookies for you. But I can’t say no to our friends and their pleading puppy eyes.” Marinette opened one of her eyes to see Adrien’s reaction. She’s really feeling guilty about this.
Adrien sighed and wiped his eyes with the bottom of his palm. He didn’t meet anyone’s eyes and kept his attention downwards. But his sadness is clearly visible on his actions and his voice.
“It’s alright Marinette, I understand.” He said with a small sad smile. “It’s not like I spent all my time last night thinking about those cookies and how wonderful would it be to taste them again.” He took a deep breath and finally faced her.
“Don’t worry…I’m not mad or anything Marinette. There’s always a next time right?” He said as he shrugged one shoulder.
His word says that he’s alright, but his smile, which didn’t reach his ears, speaks otherwise. He sighed once again and turned to a different direction, refusing to make eye-contact with anyone. Marinette’s classmates seemed guilty as well.
Marinette bit her lip. She needs to make it up to him.
Marinette tapped a high stool in front of the baking table. “You could sit here Adrien.”
Adrien went and sat on it as Marinette went to the stock room to get the ingredients she needed to bake the cookies.
Adrien’s crushed spirit after the cookie incident at school was lifted when Marinette said that she was going to bake him another batch of her delicious cookie recipe. Just for him. And no one is going to take them away from his this time because he will eat them soon after it was out of the oven…in this very bakeshop.
And bonus! He gets to see Marinette make them in action. ‘This is so exciting!’ He thought.
*Ting!*
Adrien’s eyes widened as soon as the oven made that sound and Marinette opened the hatch. The scent of the cookies he’s been longing for a very long time…(since yesterday)… is finally near his grasp. He could even hear his very own evil laughter inside his head.
Marinette delivered the tray to the table. The fresh hot cookies were steaming, delivering the scent directly to his nostrils. He almost drooled.
‘At last! Mwuahahahahahaha!!!’ His evil laugh echoed inside his mind.
“Adrien? Are you okay?”
Marinette’s call got him back to his old self. “Yeah? Uhm…Of course. I’m fine Marinette. Thanks for the cookies.”
Adrien was about to take one when Marinette caught his wrist. Disappointment fueled him again.
“Wait! They’re still hot Adrien. We have to cool them down first.”
Adrien sighed disappointedly for the nth time today. But he understood why she did that. With a huff, he forced himself to sit back on the stool in front of the baking table and followed what Marinette said.
To wait…
A few moments later…he heard a cute ‘psst!’ seemingly trying to call his attention. He scanned the place but didn’t see anyone.
“Hmmm…those look delicious Adrien.” Plagg commented as soon as he got out from his usual hiding place, inside his jacket.
‘I’m not sharing anytime Plagg.” Adrien said seriously. “Sorry.”
“Don’t worry Adrien, they’re all yours. I’m not going to replace my beloved cheese with something like those. My loyalty stays with my beloved Camembert!” He cheered mid-air.
*Psst!*
There it is again. But he was sure it didn’t come from Marinette or Plagg.
Adrien looked at Plagg who was staring down at the cookies.
“Nope…don’t even think about it Plagg. They’re all mine.”
Plagg averted his eyes quickly and pouted. “I’m not staring on anything.”
Adrien just stared at Plagg suspiciously.
“Adrien, can I leave you here for a while. My parents just texted me to do some errands. You can eat the cookies now. They’re probably cold off.”
Adrien nodded with excitement. Finally! He gets to eat the cookies he missed this morning. Marinette left the bakery and he was left alone with the cookies.
But when he got back to the plate, he was confused. He was sure that there were a lot more cookies than what he is seeing right now.
Hmm…Maybe he miscalculated?
He took one cookie and was excited to take his first bite when his phone suddenly rang. He blew out an exhale for the sudden interruption but smiled when he saw who the caller was.
“Hey Kagami…what’s up?” He puts the cookie back to the plate and hugged the kitchenware to his chest. He stared at the goodies in front of him. He will be back for them sooner.
“Hey…I just wanted to remind you about our fencing class this afternoon…and don’t forget to bring Marinette with you. Felix will be coming with me and you and I both know that we three can’t be left all together alone with just each other. And you can’t leave me alone with him either.”
“Okay I will. And thanks for reminding me, Kagami…okay see you later, bye.” He ends the call and turns his attention back to the cookies. Only to get shocked with seeing Tikki grabbing tightly on to the edge of the plate with Plagg trying to pull her off of it. The two froze in their flying places at the moment Adrien’s eyes met their confusing position.
“Tikki?! What are you doing here?! And what are you doing with my precious cookies?!”
"Oh...hi Adrien." Tikki said with an awkward, guilty smile.
Chapter 4
‘Psst!’
Plagg’s ears twitched when he heard that familiar tone. He turned and saw Tikki peeking from Marinette’s pink shoulder bag, her usual hiding spot.
He waved at her and returned his attention to his holder’s current apple, or should he say, cookies of his eyes.
“Hmmm…those look delicious Adrien.”
‘I’m not sharing anytime Plagg, sorry.”
“Don’t worry Adrien, they’re all yours. I’m not going to replace my beloved cheese with something like those. My loyalty stays with my beloved Camembert!” He said proudly.
*Psst!*
Plagg turned to Tikki again, who’s got a weird, yet familiar look on her face. It’s the face she makes when she sees something she really wants to eat.
‘Uh-oh…’ Plagg muttered in his mind. He’s hoping that it’s not what he’s actually thinking.
But his hunch was proved to be right when Tikki stared at him with desperation and then points to the cookies. He glanced back at the treats and sighs.
“Nope…don’t even think about it Plagg. They’re all mine.” Adrien said firmly.
Plagg averted his eyes quickly and pouted. “I’m not staring on anything.”
‘Plagg!’ Tikki half-whispered this time and he rolled his eyes as he flew to her. He made sure that neither their holders saw him in motion.
“Let me guess…it’s your cravings again, isn’t it?” He confronted, crossing his arms.
“You have no idea how good they were Plagg… Marinette gave me one this morning…and…and…” Her eyes darted to the plate that were the steaming pile of cookies are located.
“I must have them!” She said. Her tone filled with determination.
Plagg shook his head. It’s King’s day all over again. When he returned to tell Tikki that she promised Ladybug before not to let her cravings get the better of her, she was already gone out of the bag and is currently eating the cookies one by one in front of Adrien, whom thankfully, didn’t notice her because Adrien was busy talking with Marinette.
Plagg panicked and pulled Tikki away from the cookies before Adrien could notice her, and hid her behind the baking table.
“Tikki?! What are you doing?! You promised Marinette before, didn’t you?”
Tikki whimpered in guilt. “I’m sorry Plagg…I just can’t help myself. They’re just so good and irresistible…and…I just wanted to have some.” She sighed and wiped off the cookie crumbs left on the side of her face. “Okay…I’ll try and stop taking Adrien’s cookies…” She pouted. “But they’re just sooooo…gooood…”
Tikki’s eyes slowly widened as another scent of the cookies passed them.
Plagg backed away a little when he saw how her bluebell irises shrunk and she was looking like a zombie he watched from Adrien’s computer a few days ago, but with a creepier smile.
“Cookieeees…” She mumbled in a terrifying way and she slowly floated back up towards the direction of the aroma.
“Sugarcube!” Plagg half-shouted and half-whispered as he tried to stop her.
Tikki was about to grab one of the cookies which are now being held protectively against Adrien’s chest, but Plagg was able to grab both her feet as she grabbed on the edge of the plate, desperately.
“Tikki?! What are you doing here?! And what are you doing with my precious cookies?!”
They both stood, or rather float, frozen like a statue when they heard Adrien’s voice.
"Oh...hi Adrien." Tikki said with an awkward, guilty smile. “Can I have a cookie?”
Adrien blinked twice, curious to see Tikki in front of him. Many questions are currently running to his mind right now. Like what is Tikki doing in the Dupain-Cheng Bakery? What was she doing with his cookies? And why does she look adorable and creepy at the same time while staring deep to the plate of cookies he was holding?
But despite all that, Adrien shrugged and handed Tikki one cookie.
Tikki gasped in delight and excitedly took the cookie from him and didn’t wait for a single second to devour the entire cookie. Much like how Plagg eats his Camembert.
“Thanks Adrien. Can I have another, please?”
‘Awww…so adorable.’
Before Adrien could answer, Plagg flew right in front of his face and said,” Don’t Adrien! Can’t you see it? Tikki’s having those extreme cravings again.”
Adrien instantly remembers the time when Ladybug went into a chaotic state during the King’s day and stole all of those galettes because of Tikki’s cravings.
“You’re right…Sorry Tikki, but I can’t give you any more cookies.”
“But Adrien…just one more? Pleaseee?”
And Tikki did something that stirred the generous side of Adrien, her cutesy-kwami eyes which stares deep into your soul and its making you want to do what she wants you to do.
Adrien pursed his lips and sighed. “Okay…Maybe just one last cookie?” Unable to resist, Adrien took another cookie from the plate unwillingly and raised it towards Tikki who was able to take it in a flash and eat it in less than a second.
“Another?” Tikki said with the same look she did earlier.
Adrien, who was about to take a bite of the cookie he’s been anxious for all day, was shocked hear that.
Adrien ate the cookie in one go and swallowed it while looking back at Tikki with the unmoving look on her face.
As much as how delicious the cookie was. He can’t fully enjoy it because he ate it in a rush, even though he wanted to savor each one for a very looooong time.
“No Tikki, I’m sorry. I think that was enough…Plus…” Adrien hugged the plate. “They’re my precious cookies.”
“No! They’re my precious!” Tikki’s high and squeaky cute evil tone echoed in the kitchen, leaving Plagg and Adrien horrified.
“Adrien! I know that look!” Plagg said, pertaining to Tikki. “Run! Run and save the cookies!”
Tikki began her flying towards Adrien while Adrien began to use his fencing skills into action and evaded Tikki.
While the two were running in circles inside the kitchen, some of the cookies flew off the plate and Tikki would excitedly catch them with her mouth while Adrien would take some from the plate and eat them. They were really delicious, but he can’t fully enjoy them.
Out of nowhere, a bag of flour made Adrien trip sending the plate into the air with the last surviving cookie on it, flying atop, in a slow motion scene as the two, blonde headed and pink, cookie rivals watched in awe.
The cookie slowly landed on the plate as the gravity hits it and lands on the plate. And the plate was caught by Plagg midair, who was now floating between them.
“The laaast cookieee…” Adrien and Tikki spoke dramatically, while shooting weird stares at Plagg’s direction.
“IT’S MIIINEEE!” Tikki said with determination.
“No, it’s mine!”
The two ran…(the other flew) towards Plagg with both their arms stretched outwards.
“WAAAHHHHH!!!” Plagg screams in panic and unintentionally made the cookie fly in the air…again, and the ‘last cookie’ landed right to his mouth. He then licked his mouth in satisfaction, making Adrien and Tikki freeze in their places in a state of shock.
“Hmmm…you were right Adrien. That was delicious.” He said. Satisfied with the treat he got. “But nothing will beat my beloved cheese. Though, I would consider this cookie an alternative if my stash ever runs out of camembert. ”
Chapter 5
Adrien and Tikki were both too stunned to see the last cookie disappear right before their eyes. Both their arms remained forward, failing to catch anything.
Tikki watched as Adrien’s arms slowly limped down back to his sides, disappointment written all over his face, making Tikki guiltier. Tikki looked down, disappointed on herself. She shouldn’t have been selfish and let Adrien have the cookies that were meant for him in the first place.
(Cue: Umbrella scene Music)
“Adrien?”
Adrien avoided Tikki’s gaze.
Tikki sighed and turned her back from him.
“I’m really sorry.” She turned her head towards him a little. Then she sighed. “I was being selfish. I shouldn’t have tried to take them away from you. I know how important they are.” Because whatever Marinette makes were special, that you would want them all to yourself. Tikki returned her gaze forward, turning her back from Adrien again. “But I just can’t stop myself. They were really delicious and sweet, and full of love. I guess… I got too carried away with my emotions.”
But there’s no excuse for what she did. She acted out of pure selfish reasons.
“But that was still wrong of me. I’m really sorry Adrien.”
Tikki turned and offered him a pink macaroon. Adrien finally turned to her, slightly shocked. Tikki made a soft smile.
Adrien carefully reached out for the macaroon.
But then he stopped.
(Umbrella scene music stops.)
Adrien looked at Tikki with confusion.
“Where did you get the macaroon Tikki? I was sure you weren’t holding one, moments ago.”
“This is a fanfiction, Adrien… Anything is possible.” Tikki whispered in a breathy tone. “You didn’t ask Ladybug where she got the dinner table in the rooftop back in the Elation episode.”
Adrien tilted his head, even more confused.
“Elation episode? Wha--?”
“Just accept the macaroon Adrien. Plagg, music again please.”
Plagg tapped the play button on Adrien’s phone.
(Umbrella scene music resumes…)
Adrien shrugged and slowly took the macaroon from Tikki’s small hand. They smiled to each other.
“Thanks Tikki. Apology accepted.” He said and glanced at the sweet treat he just got. “Shall we share this?”
Tikki shook her head. “I already ate more than half of your cookies. Besides, I have more of those from where they came from.”
“More than half huh…” Adrien chuckled. “I think you have a bigger appetite than Plagg.”
“Hey!” Plagg tapped the pause button again. “Well, that is true. Tikki can always create space for all the treats she eats inside her stomach.”
“Hey!” Tikki protested.
“By the way Tikki, what are you doing in the Dupain-Cheng bakery?” Adrien asked after eating the macaroon.
“Uhm…”
Before Tikki could even formulate an excuse, the bell of the bakery’s entrance chimed.
“Someone’s coming! Plagg! Tikki! Hide! Quick!”
The kwamis immediately hid behind Adrien.
“Marinette? What are you doing back here? Did you already finish your errand?”
Adrien slightly glanced to his back to make sure that the kwamis are out of Marinette’s sight.
“Uh..No, actually. Not yet.” Marinette laughed awkwardly. “I left something back here.”
“Is it important?”
“Like super important.” Then she laughed awkwardly again and began rummaging inside the bakery. Turning every pot and baking equipment upside down.
“Do you want me to help?”
“NO! Ah…I mean…thanks for the offer, but I’m sure I can find it myself.” She assured and resumed her search, stumbling over something every now and then while Adrien made sure to never turn his back to Marinette and reveal the identities of the kwamis.
“Maybe you left it in your room?”
Marinette stood up straight and faced him.
“You’re right! Maybe I did leave it in my room. Good thinking Adrien. Thanks.”
Marinette immediately rushed upstairs.
Plagg came out into hiding.
“Where’s Tikki, Plagg?”
“Oh, she already went home. She said Ladybug might need her for something. She said thanks again for the cookies.”
Marinette came back downstairs moments later, catching her own breath. Plagg flew to hide inside his jacket.
“So, did you find it?”
“Yeah, yeah I did. You were right, she was upstairs.”
“She?”
“Oh…uhm…right. My ladybug doll. SHE was upstairs. Hehe.”
Not sure why Marinette was looking for her Ladybug doll, but he let it off.
“How about you? Did you enjoy the cookies?” Marinette said with a hopeful look on her adorable bluebell eyes.
“Uhh…yeah, sure! They were delicious.”
Adrien teared inside after remembering that he wasn’t able to enjoy all those cookies to the fullest.
“Thanks for making them for me, Marinette. Would you mind making more?” He said, trying to push his luck.
“I’d love to Adrien. But we both know that too much cookies are not good for anybody. And I’m also out of ingredients, so I can’t really bake anything for the meantime.”
“Oh…okay…Next time then.”
“Of course.”
At least she said yes.
“I better go home now. My father’s probably looking for me now.”
“Can we head outside together?” Marinette asked, anticipative.
Adrien chuckled. “I don’t see why not.”
He offered his hand to her and Marinette gladly accepted it with happiness in her eyes. They walked hand in hand out of the bakery.
Minutes in their walk in the sidewalk, something made Adrien pause in his footsteps.
“What’s wrong Adrien?”
“I think there’s something I’m forgetting. But I can’t remember exactly what it was. Hmm…”
Adrien began to think hard.
MEANWHILE…
The frown on Kagami’s forehead deepened as each minute passed with Adrien and Marinette nowhere in sight. With her arms crossed over her chest, she tapped her index finger on her elbow to count the seconds that passed.
“That cousin of yours is never on time.” Kagami said sternly.
“Tell me about it. Maybe he was too caught up with that girlfriend of his again. No offense Kagami.”
“Don’t worry, I already moved on from him. But I am offended with how you refer one of my most important best friends. She’s not just ‘that girlfriend’…she is Adrien’s girlfriend. You’re being rude Felix.”
Felix raises both hands affront as defense. “Sorry, sorry… I didn’t think it’ll sound rude. I’ll be careful next time.” His gaze went to the empty training hall of Adrien’s school. “So, what do we do now?”
“Call Adrien.” Kagami suggested.
“Hah! No way… I’m not calling my cousin.”
“Call him Felix…” Kagami said with a hard stare. “Oh right…Please.” The last word spoken with no emotion whatsoever.
Felix sighed in defeat. “Fine.”
His phone was ringing but Adrien wasn’t answering. Then his voicemail answered. Felix dropped the call.
“Hmm…He must have forgotten his phone somewhere.”
MEANWHILE…ADRIEN’S PHONE…Back in the Bakery
*Incoming Call: Felix*
Plagg ignored the ringing of Adrien’s phone as he sliced the camemberts flying on the screen, shouting like a ninja.
“Yah! Hayah! Take that you pasteurized cheese! Yah! Feel the wrath I have for healthy-organic-vegetarian-piece of blob! YAAAAHHHH!!!”
BACK TO MEANWHILE…
Felix returned his phone back to his pocket.
“Wanna have a match with me instead?”
“I didn’t know you could fence?”
Felix replied with a confident smug. “I happen to be London’s National Young Poule Champion, even until now.” He took Kagami’s sword and swung it around to show off his skills then his favorite stance.
“Will you accept my challenge, My Queen?” He curtsied in front of Kagami, bowing with his hand planted on his heart. A devilish smirk formed his lips.
Kagami smiled, stood up and retrieved her sword and walked to the training field.
“Get your fencing gear, My King…I, Kagami Tsurugi will accept your challenge.”
Felix, thrilled with the idea, ran to the locker to get changed.
Adrien shrugged it off. No longer tried to remember what it was. “Maybe I’ll remember it when I get back home.”
And the Adrinette lovebugs enjoyed their peaceful walk, hand in hand and adorable smiles, towards wherever their footsteps might take them.
The End…

AO3
Marinette was currently wrapped wonderfully in Adrien’s arms. They were on her chaise, a laptop playing a movie in front of them. He had taken to sneaking out at night from the mansion to come and see her.
Usually, she would frown at the action. After all, she didn’t want to be the one getting Adrien in trouble. Especially when it was for something he shouldn’t be getting in trouble for. But, for now, it was the only way that they could spend time together.
Gabriel had all but forbade her from entering the mansion unless she broke up with Adrien. And that wasn’t happening. Not anytime soon at least.
Marinette squeezed the arm that was wrapped around her waist. A kiss brushed against her head in response, causing a small grin to spread on her face.
He was so sweet. She loved him so much.
After a short while, their movie ended and she watched Adrien glance at the time. Her heart clenched at the sight. She didn’t want him to go. At least... not yet.
They both slowly sat up and she instantly wanted to be back in his arms. She never wanted to leave. Closing the lid on her laptop, she couldn’t help but give a small sigh. Maybe she could try and get him to stay... just for a little longer.
With her decision made, she placed her hand on his. “Stay, please. At least for us to play a round of Ultimate Mecha Strike III,” Marinette murmured.
She gave him a smile, hoping that it was convincing enough to make him stay. Adrien simply chuckled, flipping his hand around to intertwine their fingers. He brought her hand up, kissing the back of it and causing all of her breath to woosh out of her in a rush.
“Of course, I can stay for a little longer for you, Marinette.” He winked at her, causing her heart to flutter.
Grinning, she pulled him to his feet, dragging him over to the chairs by her computer. There, she booted up the game, taking her time to defeat him. If only to prolong his staying for just a few moments more.
“I win again,” Marinette cheered with a bright beam etched on her face.
Adrien shook his head even as his eyes glimmered at her playfully. “This is unfair. You’re just too good, Marinette.”
Marinette laughed, enjoying the playful banter between them. “Maybe you just need to practice more,” she teased.
Adrien jutted his lip out in a big pout, looking like such an adorable puppy dog. For a brief moment, her eyes glanced down at that pout, wondering why it looked so kissable. She was tempted to swoop down and capture those pretty, peach lips but before she could, anxiety hit her.
What if he didn’t want to kiss her? What if she kissed him wrong? What if this was still all a big joke pulled off by Chloé?
As soon as the thoughts came, Marinette managed to shake them away. They were wrong. Even though she knew she was wrong, that Adrien truly loved her at least half as much as she did for him, she couldn’t stop the churning in her gut.
Steeling herself with a deep breath, she tuned back in to what he was saying.
“One day I swear I’m gonna find a way to beat you,” Adrien said, shaking his head as he leaned back in his chair. A tiny smirk was on his face as he gazed at her.
“Practice makes perfect,” Marinette sang.
Before she could make another comment, though, a quiet alarm rang through the room. Marinette jumped, looking around with surprise. The first thing she thought was that it was an akuma attack and she dreaded having to rush Adrien out so that she could go and fight it.
However, after a brief moment of panic, she noticed that it was coming from Adrien’s phone which was buzzing on the counter.
He looked morose as he turned the alarm off, sliding the phone back into his pocket. Looking at her with a pair of sad, puppy dog eyes, he gave her a half-hearted grin. “Sorry, Marinette but I really have to get back now. It’s pretty late and if my father or Nathalie realizes that I’m out then I may not be able to visit you anymore.”
Marinette’s heart sank at the thought of Adrien leaving, but she knew that he was right. If he got caught, it would only make things worse for the two of them.
Even though both of them wanted him to stay desperately, she knew it would only lead to trouble later on. She didn’t even want to think about Adrien getting caught.
Hiding a shudder, Marinette nodded her head, hoping her smile didn’t look as forced as it felt. “Of course, Adrien. I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble.”
They both stood up, climbing up her bed before heading outside using the trapdoor just above their heads. She didn’t know or even want to know, how exactly he did it, but Adrien managed to climb both up and down her balcony every night whenever he snuck inside. It was like he was a superhero or something...
With her heart heavy in her chest, she gave him a small wave. “Goodnight, Adrien. Thank you so much for coming over. You’re always welcome here. Anytime.”
Marinette turned around, about to head back inside before she had to watch him do anything too dangerous, a hand on her wrist stopped her. She turned around, blinking at the serious expression on Adrien’s face.
“Adrien, are you alright?” she asked. Did he not want to go down from the balcony this time? Did he hurt his leg somehow on the trip up here?
Before she could spiral any further, Adrien squeezed her wrist lightly, shifting from foot to foot. He looked determined, but also a little nervous. “Marinette... I-I was wondering if you could do me a favor?”
“Yeah, of course!” she said, nodding her head eagerly.
Anything.
She’d do anything for him right now. Especially if it meant he got to stay longer.
She’d probably jump off the roof if he asked. Of course... he didn’t need to know that she had magical jewelry and could transform with two words, saving her from what was sure to be a fatal collision.
“W-would it be possible if I could have a kiss good night?” Adrien scratched the back of his neck. He gazed down at her, looking hopeful.
Marinette couldn’t help tensing. She was sure her eyes widened and her mouth gaped as she looked up at him.
He was asking her for a kiss? A kiss that she had wanted to give him nearly every second of their time together but had been too afraid to.
She gnawed on her lower lip, feeling the anxiety come flooding back.
But this was Adrien. And hadn’t she just thought that she’d do anything for him?
Letting the Ladybug courage fuel her, Marinette nodded her head with determination. “O-okay.”
Stepping up on her tip-toes, she very lightly pressed a kiss to his left cheek. Laying her feet flat on the ground again, she gave him a shy grin. Her cheeks were flushed as Marinette peeked up at him from beneath her lashes. “Goodnight, Adrien.”
“And, um, would you be okay giving me one more on the other cheek? J-just so it doesn’t feel left out.” Adrien tapped his right cheek, looking even more hopeful than he had previously.
She couldn’t help but giggle. Some of her anxiety faded as he laughed along with her. Suddenly, she felt very grateful for his joke.
Standing up on her tip-toes once more, she brushed another kiss on his other cheek. When Marinette leaned back down, she couldn’t help but notice that Adrien now also seemed a little pink.
“W-what about my nose?” He tapped it. “I think it would like a good night kiss too.”
“Of course,” she shook her head fondly as the last of her worries seemed to disappear. How did Adrien always know just what to say?
Leaning back up, Marinette gently pecked the very tip of his nose. Just inches away from his face, she whispered, “I wouldn’t want him to be lonely either.”
“A-and what about just a little bit lower, maybe?” He bit his lip, drawing her attention to it once more.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Marinette pressed her lips to the spot just above his own. She lingered there, feeling his lips graze her chin with just the slightest hint of pressure.
Her eyes fluttered closed as she rocked back down, feeling slightly dizzy even though she didn’t actually kiss him.
Adrien cleared his throat, causing her eyes to slowly open once again. His blush had gotten darker and his own eyes looked glazed. “Uh, m-maybe just a little bit lower than that?”
Blood rushed into her ears before she gave a hesitant nod of her head. A small smile twitched on her face before Marinette leaned up once more. This time she pressed a kiss just below his lips. A tingle shot up her spine as she felt them quiver on the bridge of her nose.
Feeling even more lightheaded, she felt the edges of her lips quirk up even higher. “Was that enough good night kisses?”
“Maybe,” Adrien said, his voice cracking ever so slightly. He cleared his throat again. “Maybe just one more. A-a little bit higher than that?”
This time there was no hesitation. Marinette surged to him, connecting their lips in a fiery kiss. The moon and the stars twinkled above them as she wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss as she tilted her head. He wrapped his own around her waist, pulling her to him just as tightly.
Finally... finally... finally she was able to kiss him without fear or doubts. And it felt truly wonderful.
When Marinette needed to catch her breath, she pulled back, leaning her forehead against his. Panting ever so slightly, she giggled. “You’re gonna be late, you know.”
“I don’t think I care anymore,” Adrien murmured before pressing his lips to hers once more. She smiled into the kiss, enjoying these last few moments before she forced him to go home. After all, she wanted more good night kisses.
