Okay so high key? If you eat meat, Ribs are actually a way more ADHD friendly meal than you think.
Literally just slap a dry rub on those boys and throw them in the oven and set a timer for two hours and go hyperfixate or doom scroll or whatever it is you were gonna do for the day. Then when that two hours is up. Oh hey food. Just slap some bbq sauce on and heat at a higher heat for 15 minutes and eat. No cutting and no prep work unless you make your own seasoning but there are tons of premade dry rubs at the store.
Idk about you guys but for me, minimum prep is way more important for a meal than time it physically takes to cook. Things that can slow roast in the oven or a crock pot are my best friend. Let me go stim and do other things while dinner is magically being made.

One of the biggest reasons soup is great is it's incredibly versatile! I have a lot of problems with complicated or lengthy tasks because of my ADHD, and sometimes I have an especially hard time cause of depression, so it gets difficult to prepare food for myself. The thing with soup, though, is you can make soup out of pretty much anything! Put some broth in a pot, toss in some carrots and pre-cooked chicken and maybe some other random vegetables you have in the fridge, and you have a functioning soup! Like, yeah, sometimes just chips and precut fruit is enough, but if I want warm food, and I don't have anything microwaveable, soup is the easiest option, and it's hard to mess up a simple soup (as long as you don't put pasta/noodles in). It's simple, kinda fun, and it's rewarding since it usually tastes pretty good regardless of skill/knowledge! 10/10 dish for bad low motivation days. Plus, it's a great way to get in a lot of nutrition without knowing like 10,000 different recipes lol

Easy (low-ish spoons) Ham Fried Rice
Tumblr media
This is the easiest way I know to make fried rice and it’s not super expensive and you don’t have to chop anything!
(You can also do a more traditional spam fried rice if you need cheaper meat and can spare energy for cutting it up)
The biggest key to this recipe is making 2 cups of rice (measured uncooked) in a rice cooker or pan and chilling overnight. You need it to be chilled for the fried rice texture.
When I got home from work, I pulled all my ingredients:
-1 container of chilled rice
-1 pack of cubed ham
Tumblr media
-1 baggie frozen peas and carrots
Tumblr media
-soy sauce (preferably low sodium) and oyster sauce
-sesame oil/butter/cooking oil of choice
-sesame oil and sesame seeds for garnish (optional, but delicious)
Directions:
Put your ham into a large pan (that has a companion lid) with your oil or butter and brown on high heat.
Tumblr media
When it starts popping, dump half the bag of veggies in and mix. (Save the other half of your bag for another time). Once they turn a deeper, glossy color, you can add your rice.
Tumblr media
(This time around, I added a little water into my storage container and microwaved the dish without a lid for 1 min.)
Pour into pan and break apart any clumps.
Tumblr media
Add your sauces—soy first, and make sure the rice is mostly saturated, then oyster, drizzled on top—and mix everything together until evenly combined.
Less is more here because you can always add more sauce, but you can’t take it back out. (Taste test to get to your preferred flavor).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, pour a little water into the pan and top with your lid to steam the cold rice. You can stir this every minute or two to make sure it doesn’t burn and to check temperature.
Tumblr media
Serve half (or your desired portion) drizzled with sesame oil and topped with sesame seeds!
Use the same storage container you cooked your rice in to store the leftover fried rice!
Tumblr media
Congrats, you have made a delicious comfort meal with minimal dishes and less energy🤝🤝

The best ADHD clocking advice I just learned from my mother: YOU CAN COOK A STEAK IN AIR FRYER like literally just throw it in and set the timer and KA-BOOM calorie rich protein meal is ready 💅
Seriously it’s so easy and so simple and so fast and so nutritious. If you have an air fryer and didn’t know you could do that — YOU CAN DO THIS 😍
I’m so deeply impressed just wow

“why does the fandom portray Aziraphale as such an idiot when he is canonically intelligent”
today a colleague with an engineering phd had a wasp get in his car and drove around with his door open until it flew out and only realized like 10 minutes later he could have rolled down the windows, next question

I think what a lot of people don't get about adhd is that, at least in my experience, the difficulty staying focused makes me perceive one, very short and doable thing as a series of multiple microtasks. Like it's not just, "Start drawing". It's "Get computer. Get pillow. Get charger. Get headphones. Arrange everything. Open the file. Decide to listen to music or YouTube. Pick the playlist. Get up and get the pen you forgot. Settle everything back on you again. Don't open tumblr and just start rambling about executive dysfunction. Get off tumblr-"

Fuck it. Every Steve Harrington headcannon I have because I've been rotating that boy in my head like a pig on a stick
- Has had glasses since he was young but mostly wore contacts throughout high school due to being bullied in middle school for looking like a nerd
- Plays the piano or the violin, your pick
- In addition to the piano, he mostly plays jazz cause thats my favorite genre and I think it would be his too
- Has ALWAYS had horrible migraines but have since been a lot more difficult to deal with due to you know all that other shit that's been going on
- Does not know popular culture, I know it's very popular within the fandom that he only listences to what's on the radio or watchs only the recent released movies but that boy could barely name a single movie he does NOT know popular shit (this also goes with my jazz headcannon that he mostly just listenes to jazz in the car or at home)
- Surprisingly amazing at chess, no one in the party has managed to beat him
- Horror fan(books,shows,movies,etc)
- His best subject in school was math and I will die on this hill
- Between him and Eddie, he is the black cat
- Bisexual obviously, but a really do like the headcanon that he kinda knew he liked boys when he was younger and doesn't need Robin or Eddie to tell him(he was the one telling Robin that Vickie could like both just saying)
- Also asexual maybe
- Can cook
- SMOKER!!! He smokes in the first season, and in the third he makes a reference to smoking marijuana, he is NOT new to this
- Has really bad bedhead
- I can see him as having some form of OCD or ADHD
I'm forgetting most so be prepared for a part 2
Part 2

you know how people are always like, 'someone should write a cookbook that's actually easy'? i wrote it (amazon us link). i actually did it a while ago, but i finally got my shit together enough that it's widely available as both an ebook and a paperback, so i figured i'd mention it again.
Tumblr media
you can buy the ebook almost literally anywhere, including on amazon, kobo, indigo, thalia, booktopia, gumroad, and pretty much anywhere else you care to buy ebooks.
you can also buy a print book almost literally anywhere, including amazon, indigo, powells, waterstones, and basically any other bookseller.
this is a book for everybody, anywhere, who has limited, time, energy, or resources to make food. here's what i assumed:
you don't want to spend a bunch of time and energy cooking
you can't afford to eat nothing but takeout
you probably don't have access to Brands, because Brands are expensive and region locked.
you probably don't have a bunch of gadgets—there's no slow cookers or instant pots in this book
that's about it. there are vanishingly few measurements, and when there are, they're both imperial and metric. i'm from the us, but live in australia, and you can purchase 99% of the ingredients mentioned at the nearest supermarket in either country. when i was formatting this for print distribution, i also checked tesco and used my terribly bad german to check rewe to make sure this was as broadly accessible as possible, and they have basically everything, as well.
i wrote it for you. if you have more questions, you can see a couple sample recipes here and the answers to frequently asked questions here. If that's not enough, my ask box is open.

Surviving under late stage capitalism is hard, especially when you're out of spoons and you're lucky if you have a plastic knife. We're here to help.
The Sad Bastard Cookbook: Food You Can Make So You Don't Die is a community-built, vegetarian/vegan guide to getting food in your facehole when you're suffering from depression. Or other mental illnesses or physical illnesses or *waves hand generally at the state of the world* anything else.
We've made it free on our website because life sucks enough without having to give Jeff Bezos money, but we also do have a paperback copy available for sale over there too, since we also need to eat.
