desperately need to do a presentation on why the Twelfth Doctors journey perfectly represents the transfem experience
their previous eleventh incarnation being suave and hypersexual (i know moffat is mostly to blame but!) is reminiscent of attempts to fit into heteronormative ideals of masculinity. whilst it is not completely insincere, there are obvious signs this does not fit you as a person, it is acted out of desperate need to being seen. as Vastra put it, eleven wore that face, and subsequently that form of masculinity, to be accepted. on becoming twelve, realising even an "idealised" masculinity does not inherently serve them, they retreated into themselves as a person for self-reflection and trying to understand why they feel so detached from who they are.
the "am i a good man" arc mirrors being closeted and having to present as something not inherently tied to your sense of self, but still wanting to be the best of your perceived gender as any failure could leave you spiralling into self-doubt about simply being like any other "man". you ignore your gender dysphoria/questioning by trying to claim a moralistic view of gendered expression. made even more clear by Twelve rejecting Clara's heroic view of them, establishing that even though they have made efforts to be a "good man", that is just a placeholder for their loss of identity.
Missy appearing as she does, who as a character serves as a parallel to The Doctor on what they could become, and her eventual arc in trying to become good is symbolic of the fear around transition regret that internalised transphobia can create when you are closeted. Missy never gives importance to their fem existence other than nonchalant jokes, rather showing a more free and expressive personality devoid of any frustration. this immediately dismisses the transphobic assumption that trans people are only focused on their gender. also, Missy representing trans femininity is inherently tied to chaos and upsetting the status quo, she is the embodiment of what society considers accepting your womanhood as someone previously labelled masculine. what many others, and The Doctor themselves, saw as a need for attention and senseless disruption is Missy not needing to serve a false version of who they are, that they can now focus on becoming whoever they want to be now without losing energy to performing a gender that society has imposed on you. Missy could never have made the decision to stand with The Doctor if she had not given importance to her own queerness.
it wasn't coincidence with meeting Bill, she was the perfect foil for The Doctor to finally let go of their anxious attachment to masculinity. i would even argue for the majority of s10, The Doctor is largely ambiguous in their gender identity and does not fit into any construction of masculinity or femininity. whilst they still present as something socially labelled as masculine, they do not internalise that gender expression. they are uncaring about and not needing the validity that comes with heteronormativity, and thus is free to finally accept the decision they have to make. as Bill says, it is so hard to let go of The Doctor, and that rings true for twelve themselves. but they begin to realise The Doctor can be anyone. yes, they are tired, it would be so easy to simply rest and not give value to who you can become. but choosing to let go of everything you once were to survive is better than oblivion. it is better to let go, to choose another lifetime where the only person that dies is your falsity, to finally get it right and choose kindness. for yourself and for those who you love. they regenerate, not just into another person, but into someone who (if only tv scripts...) can now move forward.

Name: Mino
Debut: Tetris Worlds
While researching for last week's post, I discovered something amazing. Something I haven't been able to stop thinking about. No matter what, my mind always comes back to
Tetris Lore
Now, I'm not going to act like Tetris has an overarching story, or that the story of one game is at all relevant to the other games. Tetris Worlds is just one game, and its story is self-contained. But the fact that this Tetris game has a story at all is really incredible!
What would you expect from a Tetris game with a story? Maybe something like, the Tetriminos are all best friends living in Block World, but one day, wuh woh! There's a Bad Guy who's a sphere who hates cubes or something! Luckily, with the power of our friendship and Tetris skills, we can teach him a lesson and banish him once more... or perhaps make a new friend? :)
Please watch the introductory cutscene of Tetris Worlds.
Tumblr media
These are the Minos! Minos, in this canon, are a species of cycloptic cubes with fascinating cycloptic faces on their forward-facing faces. I absolutely adore them already. And wouldn't you know it, their sun is going supernova and they are all going to die if they can't evacuate their planet in time. HUH???
This story is so fascinating! I am SO happy that someone came up with this when tasked with making a story for a Tetris game. There was a creative vision, and it appears to be fully realized in this short but unforgettable intro to what could have easily been just another Tetris game!
Tumblr media
You get to have a Mino as an avatar! This could be YOU! You can make them wear a funny hat as they hover and squash and stretch on the sidelines while you play Tetris!
The game's manual explains even more about the Minos, most notably that they are MECHANICAL! These things just keep getting better! Living, cycloptic cubes, with an entire futuristic society, and they're machines. The manual also feels the need to remind us that they were probably made by organic beings, as "most" mechanical beings are. And I find that suspiciously specific...
Tumblr media
Look at this fish! This mechanical, cycloptic Mino fish. This was not in the Xbox version's intro, but it was in the PS2 one! For whatever reason, the two had unique animation in their intros, despite using the same voiceover. This fish is shown emerging from water onto land, where it beholds the Tetrions, the sacred and powerful portals in which the game of Tetris takes place. The visual of a fish coming onto land is such in-your-face evolution imagery that I am ENTIRELY convinced that these fish were ancestors of the Minos who would later form civilization! Natural, evolving robots!
Tumblr media
...and then this intro goes on to depict the Minos as having TWO eyes. Yeah ok. Sure. I will confidently declare these binocular blockheads as non-canon based on everything else we've seen, ESPECIALLY because the actual gameplay even depicts cycloptic Minos!
Tumblr media
Some of them seem to be established characters. This is Izabela. Hi Izabela!
Are you on the edge of your seat, hoping our friends the Minos survive? They do! Savvy Tetris skills allow them to activate the Tetrions (which were left behind by an ancient space-faring civilization. In case you were wondering) and teleport to other planets. Minos live! Hooray. And now you know the Tetris Lore, and can think about it constantly like I do!
Tumblr media
Lastly, I made this little image of the Mino leader from Worlds, in the style of a Tetris Friends avatar! I like to think some cross-promotional avatars could have been added if Worlds came out during the lifespan of Tetris Friends. I can only hope that at least someone at The Tetris Company remembers this incarnation of the Minos, and that they could possibly appear in a game once more!

Tristamp Wolfwood is a bit different than his counterparts, yeah? And I don’t mean that in a bad way, Orange is going somewhere with it, but it’s very different from what they’ve done with Vash and Meryl imo. With them, I feel like we got a glimpse of pre-canon. With Wolfwood... Orange is up to something, and it goddamn terrifies me. I love him dearly, he has some many moments that make me smile and go, “Yeah, that’s Wolfwood, my beloved asshole.” But it’s different. Oh so very different.
I’m just gonna point out a few examples of things I think are different enough to note here (drawing comparisons from Trimax since that was the source for Tristamp, but I’ll try not to spoil much--just don’t Google names you don’t recognize), and then go a little off the rails with a couple theories (spoilers there, click the read more at your own peril). This is DEFINITELY not everything, and maybe my takes are a bit off, idk. If there’s something you’ve picked up on, definitely feel free to add it!
Well, here goes:
Tumblr media
My dude is a mess. Wolfwood is typically put together and some would call him smooth (he’s a mess inside always, though) in his other incarnations. Orange pointed out at Sakuracon that the characters are supposed to look younger and more immature in Tristamp, and Wolfwood specifically is supposed to look like he can’t dress himself (lmao). They said they have their reasons but just didn’t have time to explore them in canon. So, I can make assumptions, but I’ll wait to see what comes in the future.
Tumblr media
Another one that staff talked about in a recent interview is that Wolfwood is technically a priest according to his contract, but he calls himself an undertaker. Yeah, yeah, edgelord Tristamp Wolfwood and all that, but I’ve seen people call back to how, in the manga, it’s Vash that always takes the time to bury the dead. Wolfwood even chews him out a bit for this. But it’s literally in our introduction to him in this version. He carries the weight of the dead with him enough to make it part of his title, and that’s different for him.
Tumblr media
I could be misremembering with this one. But I distinctly remember being surprised when I read Trimax because Wolfwood going into the Eye of Michael seemed more of his own choice than it is in Tristamp (not that a literal child could consent to, you know, torture and abuse)? But either way Wolfwood loathes the Eye of Michael from the get-go here, he doesn’t stay by choice and actively tries to escape. Just like all these choices he makes in Tristamp (which is MASSIVELY different in general), he does it for someone else. He can’t try to escape again, because they have Livio.
Tumblr media
Speaking of! Livio!!! This was another thing that caught me by surprise going from Tristamp to Trimax, their relationship is so much different here, so much softer and it hurts in a beautiful way. I feel like less is more here to avoid spoilers, but this introduction pre-Trimax-canon and any future conflict with this backstory... is very different.
Tumblr media
Holy hell, a moment like this happening so early?! Vash and Wolfwood having ideological differences and not understanding each other takes up so much time in Trimax. But over the course of three episodes, we go from Wolfwood killing someone that Vash wanted to save (props to Tristamp for making that gutpunch even more personal, ouch--though points deducted for not having the, “Shoot,” moment there), to Vash seeing how very similar they are and getting a grasp of why Wolfwood is the way he is. Wolfwood is so much softer in Tristamp. He’s way more emotional, he cares so deeply for things outside of himself, and he doesn’t have that apathetic bitterness. Staff have said that our main characters will be a lot more recognizable post-timeskip, so some shit is gonna happen to this man, but this is a fundamental shift in the early days of their relationship.
Tumblr media
AGAIN!!! Wolfwood is doing this whole mission, betraying Vash, to save the orphanage. He didn’t have to listen to Vash trying to save the sandsteamer. It doesn’t matter if Vash is pissy if Wolfwood blew up the ship to save the orphanage, because that’s his end goal. He has a giant laser that just blew through an entire giant worm, this ship is nothing. Wolfwood’s trying to cling to the monster that he sees himself as, trying to stay the Punisher, but he’s not. He already has enough faith in Vash to trust him with everything he cares about. This takes a lot of development time for Wolfwood to trust Vash like this in Trimax--and even in the very end, he still doesn’t trust Vash with this. (If you know, you know.)
Tumblr media
AGAIN!!!!! Wolfwood cares!!! He does not need to question if Vash is sure, if he thinks he can make up with or convince Knives or whatever, in fact he shouldn’t. He should give Vash no reason to question getting to July. But Wolfwood, be careful, your feelings are showing. Wolfwood’s getting worried about Vash. Even though all he needs to do is keep his head down and get this dork to July.
Tumblr media
This was never Trimax Wolfwood’s motivation. Whatever drove him left him hollow and empty, he did not care. Even when he saw things starting to go south and he wanted out, Vash ended up being right: he was too much of a coward to do anything about it. (If you know, you know.) I had wondered, after Legato tried to bulldoze everything he loved, why the hell didn’t Wolfwood just desert the mission and team up with the gang. He already has such a deep connection with them. But this would be why.
Tumblr media
WOLFWOOD IS NO LONGER CONTRACTED BY THE EYE OF MICHAEL AT THE END OF THE SEASON??? Some people say that Wolfwood still works for them, but tbh for what reason? They’re about to end the world. And then what about this line? He wouldn’t exactly have a choice, would he? I do think we’re gonna meet Chapel (right before Livio shoots himself, you’ll hear a voice and see a silhouette (not Razlo, though he’s there too) that seems to be a “new” character), and Wolfwood might end up working under him for some fucked up reason... But if not, this changes everything. It already changes everything considering how big Wolfwood escorting Vash to Knives is. But that’s done now. And because Vash saw right through him the first time, if Wolfwood comes back to do the same thing again, it might feel cheap and a little silly.
Tumblr media
MERYL!!! Trimax is basically the Vash and Wolfwood show, right? The girls are around, but mainly their interactions are with Vash. But he and Meryl interact so much just over the course of twelve episodes. They even have that adorable group shot. She matters enough that he came back to rescue her, and the two of them worry about Vash together in the finale. Who knows what happened post-finale, but Wolfwood’s self isolation is already shot to hell. He’s more big brother Nico than he’d had the chance to be in awhile, he has so many people to care for.
Tumblr media
So the danger has passed, Vash’s roots are back inside of him, the orphanage should be fine. But Wolfwood comes back for them. Yeah, yeah, the stupid cigarette excuse, but this is Wolfwood, not Vash. He didn’t come back because of the cigarette debt and we all know it. (Also kinda hoping that him saying what he does about fighting Knives being crazy is foreshadowing for some ridiculous 1v1 fight between them, had to throw that in there)
Now, theories Trimax spoiler time bby (I’ll also post any corrections under the cut):
EDIT 1: I was bonkers wrong on the Tristamp timeline (it takes place from May 25th to July 21st, not including the epilogue), so I just deleted that bit from the og post. I cannot remember where I got that number in my brain.
They are doing something with this man and I hate it as much as I love it. Every other character can go off and follow similar paths but they just nuked the entirety of Wolfwood’s storyline by having him be finished getting Vash to Knives and him choosing to trust Vash so goddamn early. And in less than a week of canon time!!! ORANGE WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!
They’ve knocked everything out of the park so far, I had so many concerns about what they were doing while watching, and they squashed most of them. So I choose to have faith that Orange has a brilliant plan that will crush my emotions in mind. It will probably eviscerate us just like Trimax did. But I have two theories as to how this could go:
First: And by far the most likely: all roads lead to that goddamned couch. They changed a ton of things, but just to make it all hurt in a new and exciting way. Don’t get me wrong, this was the final straw in making Trimax one of my favorite manga ever--Wolfwood’s character arc is one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever read. I’m a bit nervous because we’ve already shifted that arc so much, but there’s a lot of room to fuck us all up in this one. I imagine the final confrontation will still be between the two brothers, but I imagine the context will be different.
Wolfwood’s already chosen to spare Livio, so that won’t be the clincher, but there are so many things that Wolfwood wants to fight for now to use against him. Something in the timeskip will probably firm up his ideals to be the opposite of Vash’s in a different way than before, but I imagine we’ll get at least a season of them being goofy and learning how to live and regain their humanity together before they’re couched. :’) And now the girls are going to be a bigger part of it to make the grief all that greater :’))) Thanks in advance, Orange :’))))))
Second: No couch??? I know, then what would be the point? He’s doomed in every universe, how will it be as powerful if they don’t do that here??? And I agree, I think this is way less likely. But Wolfwood has already accepted the power of anime Jesus friendship into his life, and that’s a huge part of what lead to his death. Not that I don’t think it’s still likely for Tristamp Wolfwood to think it’s too much to ask Vash to step away from the conflict with Knives for whatever his personal struggles are, but... man that sandsteamer incident is foreshadowing something and I’m afraid. It shifted so much in a way that is so significant, I feel like I’m not doing it justice with my words.
Speaking of possible foreshadowing: Wolfwood isn’t the product of random experimenting like he was in Trimax, he’s the product of plant experimentation. And Vash can heal plants. Again, that’s a big ol’ stretch, as I think that they made the Gung Ho Guns a product of plant experimentation to try and explain the magic powers they all have, and it’s a very smooth idea imo. But it haunts me. Also, given that Conrad has probably been kept alive through fucked up plant methods and how long Rollo remained the same, and Conrad said the only flaw in his experiments were that they had to eat and drink... does Wolfwood and Gung Ho Gun friends have an extended lifespan??? Okay, getting off topic, sorry :’D
Basically, Wolfwood has already made huge leaps and bounds in trusting Vash, even listening to Meryl, and growing a heart for humanity. To the point I was half-afraid this guy was going to die in the finale, because we’ve already seen so much of his character arc. (It would have been a poor choice and I’m happy it didn’t happen EVEN IF I’M STILL AFRAID). And he’s based off of Trimax Wolfwood quite heavily! You can see it in the core of his personality still!!! WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO WITH HIM???
I doubt either of these ideas are going to be quite right, watch as Orange works in a secret, third thing that I can’t even imagine lmao. But this has been driving me absolutely bonkers and I had to share. This is still Wolfwood, and I have a feeling he’s only going to be more and more of the lovable asshole from here on out. But I have no idea where we’re going with it.
Holy hell, this was a long post. If you made it to the end of my insane ramblings well, uh... congrats??? I hope it was somewhat worth the read???? I’m so sorry?????? Thank you??????????

i was gonna ask how inertia II (helped superboy prime fight the teen titans) fit in the too many thads AU cause i originally thought he was an thad/bart clone but? he's just some dude? i feel like your (fantastic) fic gave him as much mind as the comics
truly that version of Inertia is such a mystery to me GOD i have so many questions. like, he isn't paid much mind within the actual narrative bc there's like 8 different fights happening all at once and Superboy Prime is the main antagonist but, straight up Who Is He.
like in the span of #98-100 there's a couple things that do get confirmed about him
for instance:
Tumblr media
"After this is over, I gotta talk to them about this costume they gave me, I mean - green? It's the color of a turtle. Talk about Irony." - "This Inertia hasn't got a clue. He doesn't know that the last speedster to wear that costume killed me. I got better. But the scars run deep."
New Inertia says "they" gave him the Inertia costume. Who is "they"? Superboy Prime? CRAYDL? Someone else?
Bart concludes that New Inertia doesn't know how the previous one killed him. I assume just based on New Inertia's irreverence? But unclear.
Tumblr media
"Inertia killed Bart, but that's not the same one. He's two inches taller. No doubt the costume choice is deliberate. Bart only has a few buttons, so it's easy to push them."
Tim notes in his narration that this Inertia is two inches taller than the last one. Why? What purpose does that serve?
Superboy Prime has proven himself capable of making clones, given the gaggle of Kon clones that show up in this fight, but if he made New Inertia to be another clone of Bart or of the previous Inertia, why the physical difference?
Even Bart can't figure out if this guy is a clone or not:
Tumblr media
"What's the deal with all these clones? Is that Inertia one too? Or just another speedster?"
Which is kinda wild because although there is a wide selection of speedsters in present, Bart knows pretty much all of them. And even if this is a Random Guy With Superspeed, what would compel him to be here, fighting Bart?
And before any questions can be asked or answers can be given, Bart gets a lil lost in the trauma sauce (can't really blame him) and kicks the shit out of New Inertia
Tumblr media
"I died. That happened. Inertia was the catalyst for it. He delivered the fatal blow. But I'm back, and this isn't the same Inertia, right? This is real. I've played out this scenario in my head over and over again. And every time, it felt better and better. Inflicting pain. Destroying him. Avenging myself." "So much anger - radiating like the sun. A dark, black sun. Bart is seething with rage." "It's what he deserves."
the "it's what he deserves" line always gets me. because they've already established this is a New Inertia, he literally hasn't done anything except fuck around causing trouble along with the rest of Superboy Prime's posse. anyway Bart obviously has lots of baggage surrounding Inertia, with the actions of one bleeding onto the other.
(fun fact Raven's description of Bart's emotions being a dark black sun informs a lot of the imagery in chapter 21 of Frequency)
Tumblr media
"I... I could've killed him." "But you didn't. You controlled your emotions." "Yeah. See, Raven - we all got our demons inside."
AND THAT IS THE LAST WE SEE OF THIS GUY. Where does he go after this? Is he still unconscious after the fight or does he get away while they're going after Superboy Prime? Who does he go back to? Who The Hell Is He? Fuck you they gotta punch Superboy Prime so hard he ends up in purgatory.
Then of course the run is over, the universe is rebooted, and we get New 52. So all these questions will presumably remain unanswered forever.
But Canon Things About New Inertia Include:
he's "new to this"
not the previous incarnation of Inertia
two inches taller than the previous Inertia
received the Inertia costume from someone else, only referred to as "they"
working with Superboy Prime, but with zero on-panel interactions with either Superboy Prime or any of the other villains who have joined the fight. the degree of familiarity is unclear if not nonexistent.
irreverence regarding his predecessor implies he doesn't know the full history of what went down between Inertia and Bart
may or may not be another clone
gets the shit kicked out of him
it's so frustratingly vague lmao.
so yeah i took that and ran with it to inform Six's traits and backstory: The "they" who gave him the costume becoming CRAYDL, the other Six's, (and Project Inertia more generally). His height because he's slightly older than the previous Inertia was.
Follows-up on the previous Inertia's antagonism with only vague knowledge of what actually happened. Underestimates Bart's feelings on the topic. Joins up with Superboy Prime, not because of loyalty or familiarity but because going solo is what killed the old guy. Irreverent, uncommitted, overconfident. Tends to get the shit kicked out of him.
and then to follow up on this fight, Six's "first" meeting with Bart becomes his own weird revenge quest over that one time Bart kicked his ass. mostly just wanted the closure there, and for Six to have held a grudge about it for literal centuries bc it is funny 2 me.
my motivation for writing Frequency came from a frustration at the contradictory/unexplained/unexplored plot points and storylines specifically surrounding Thad/Inertia, this whole thing being a major one. At its most basic, Frequency is just my attempt to weave the disparate elements of canon into a cohesive narrative.

If I were to write a Star Wars fic (which I won’t, as working full-time does not leave me with enough mental energy to be properly actively fannish), it’d be an epic AU where Obi-Wan also falls down the shaft at the climax of his fight with Maul, is presumed dead, and then pops up during the Clone Wars as a mysterious agent of chaos whose initial goal is just to rattle and provoke the Jedi into shedding at least a bit of their apathy disguised as serenity and their superiority complex (so, Obi-Wan choosing to help an entire planet of children caught in a horrific war was bad and aggressive, deserving of first repudiation and then probation, but when Knights and Masters order enslaved sentients into battle it’s duty and necessary to uphold the values of the Republic and thus Order?). He’s bitter, he’s angry, and he wants to destroy the Order. Well, the Order as it is. All talk, so little regard for actual decency, and no infrastructure in place to protect the children under their care.
There’d be a semi-humorous scene where Cody (who is... compromised, okay, he knows it, but this evil fallen force user is just different from the other evil fallen force users, okay) comes across Obi-Wan, bleeding from a fresh gash on his head (”What happened to you? - Oh, nothing, dear one; I just tripped.”) one eye clenched shut where the blood is dribbling down, yada yada, they do their usual song and dance about no, you question your allegiance and join my side, and then.
What’s that?
Cody bends down and picks up the thing that’s caught his attention. It’s round, and not quite flat, and ye--- yellow. He narrows his eyes at the infuriating pain in the ass in front of him.
“Tripped, huh? Deliberately, I assume?”
The man’s gaze flits down to the coloured lens balancing on Cody’s finger now, the exact same shade as his one open eye.
“When you arrived, the light of your presence overwhelmed me and caused me to falter. It can be quite challenging when one has delved as far into the dark as I have,” the fucker tries to lie to Cody’s face, voice as serene as the calmest of Jedi Generals fresh out of meditation, and maybe Cody needs to reconsider how trustworthy anything spoken in that tone really is.
Cody throws the lens at him, and the offending item manages to land on his chest, where blood has soaked into the shirt, and sticks to the fabric, staring at him accusingly.
“What kind of nerf-brained idiot fakes being a Sith? The entire Order is after you!”
The nerf-brain winces, then sighs and droops. He rubs a hand through his suddenly tired-looking face. The blood from his apparently actually self-inflicted head-wound that was meant to disguise the missing lens is smeared all over his cheek now, which looks ridiculous and is somewhat worrisome because Cody is used to bloodshed and knows that it’s usually not a good sign when people forget that they are bleeding. It does match the bone-deep exhaustion etched in the other man’s features, though, now that his mask of flirtatious nonchalance has dropped.
“In my defence, I honestly did not expect it to go this far.” He spreads his hands and pulls a somewhat forced-looking version of his usual boyish grin. “I assumed I would get in two, maybe three strikes before the Order went on alert and I got caught. When they didn’t, I decided to... provide further motivation.”
His right eye is grey-blue, as fathomlessly deep as the waters of Kamino, and Cody wonders what can drive a man to pretend to be evil incarnate to catch the attention of an organisation of essentially super-powered sentients in the middle of a war.
Another trickle of blood from the absolutely needless head wound snakes its way down the side of the man’s face, making it clear that, whatever his motivation might be it’s not a healthy sense of self-preservation.
Maybe Cody can get him to take out the other lens, too, so he can check his eyes for signs of a concussion.
And get a closer look at the colour.
...At least now he’s not compromised by a Sith anymore?

SPOILERS AHEAD
okokok cool bc we know now that the gnoses are essentially the stolen power from the dragon sovereigns right
imo in the context of sagau, this further validates the concept of celestia booting the creator when they initially invaded/being able to convincingly place an imposter in teyvat and then something something most people don't recognize the true creator
and also neuvi is confirmed the incarnation of the hydro dragon so i imagine bc he doesn't have the full dragon powers that's the reason he'd be unable to recognize the creator
AND THEN ALSO furina is now confirmed to not have the hydro gnosis so even more running theory is that we may be having another akasha situation here where the oratrice is powered by the gnosis so what if because of that...reader is put on trial and the final verdict is instead guilty because of the gnosis and its connection to celestia?
ooh the imposter!au crumbs are delicious
i'll think of something for the fortress of meropide later
someone help me orz
- death loop anon
alright so admittedly my opinion about the sagau version of genshin lore has changed pretty dramatically, and it all centers around celestia. speculations below the cut. be warned this is mostly stream of consciousness.
oh, and here’s my previous post for some ground knowledge.
alright so it’s like… literally all but spelled out that the “primordial one” is celestia. they came, took over the world from the dragon sovereigns, and… the ‘second who came,’…. my mind says it could be intended to be the abyssal twin and or the travellers together, but that’s a problem for later when it’s actually confirmed. for now, the second is us, the creator.
this changes the timeline quite significantly, so here’s a new one. you create teyvat and it’s realms, as well as the seven sovereigns. you’re satisfied with your world. you move on to somewhere else, promising to visit as you do with all your worlds, or at least the ones with sentient life.
for the sake of everything, we’ll assume “the primordial one” (because it’s unclear if it’s the Sustainer (it probably is) or the body of celestia as a whole (unlikely)) was one of your prior creations. how they got to teyvat is unclear, but the point is that they Did, and overruled the sovereigns. whether or not this is when gnoses are created is blurry in canon, but for our purposes we’ll say it is.
(note, minor: celestia taking the authority of the dragons likely weakened them, making them more susceptible to things like forbidden knowledge or Dying. i say this because there’s no way one (?) guy could just topple 7 elite gods with the power of the world at their claws.)
blah blah lore. why celestia did this we don’t know. call it greed. istaroth happens and i still don’t know why. when you come back, horrified by what teyvat has become, you try to fight back. whether weakened from exhaustion caused elsewhere or overwhelmed by grief, you lose, and celestia solidifies their place as the head of teyvat. off you go to your ‘earth’ to rest.
from now on, everything that goes wrong is celestia’s fault. the forbidden knowledge, the abyss, the archon war and the fatui—all of it stems from their lack of understanding as to how to rule a world. they tried to cheat by handing out the gnoses, but they were poorly made, eroding the archons they gift them to. the greater lord’s death, the cursing of dvalin, the entirety of khaenri’ah, all of that can be blamed on celestia.
in canon, characters—even and especially archons—express negative emotions toward celestia. zhongli said that his gnosis was a fair trade for the tsaritsa, who is now vindicated. she leads the nation of love, and out of love for her god, she will not allow celestia to rule any longer.
this swings quite nicely into an imposter au as well. people can Tell celestia is incapable, so they make their own god, one to rule the people while celestia rules the world.
lore over, addressing your ask now.
re: your point about neuvi not recognizing the creator: i see that as very unlikely. though he doesn’t have his full authority, he still can sense the waves in the water, and was able to tell when the primordial sea sluice was about to break.
(the primordial sea itself is a talk for another time. maybe when fontaine is finished i’ll address it again?)
re: your point about the oratrice: this one could go either way. on one hand, in my version as i’ve written it here (which is always open for changes or other opinions) gnoses are essentially bottles. the power inside is the sovereigns, and hence loyal, while the bottle itself is made by celestia, and is hence disloyal. depends on your variety of sagau, i suppose.
finally, none of this is set in stone. i’m partial to the archons having memories of the creator—arguably could be from their gnoses, but that’s an angst for another time—as well as a few other tropes that don’t entirely align with this version of lore. this is… say, the “official” version i have in my head, and my fics are small alterations to this “official” version. additionally, just because its my “official” doesn’t mean it has to be yours, and i’m open to any suggestions or feedback.

What Are Starseeds? A Brief Intro.
Allegedly, a starseed is an alien soul incarnated into a human body for the purpose of helping Earth enter the New Age, the Age of Aquarius, the Fifth Round, the Fifth Density, or whatever you want to call it.
There are a number of worlds and factions these souls are said to come from. Some of the most common ones you'll hear about include the Pleiades, Sirius, Lyra, Mintaka, Orion, and Arcturus, though depending on you who ask you might hear about other types of aliens as well.
On the surface, the idea of starseeds is a romantic, idealistic belief, and it offers many people who feel like they don't really belong here an explanation for their feelings. However, there's a lot of shit beneath the surface.
First, the mythology of starseeds is inextricably linked to the ancient alien hypothesis, which basically only exists because some racist white guys refused to accept that POC could actually build sophisticated architecture on their own and made up a bunch of reasons why it was supposedly impossible. (Actually, you can do a lot with so-called "primitive" tools, especially if you have the power of math on your side - like the ancient Egyptians did.)
Being part of New Age beliefs, starseeds are inextricably linked to a general assumption that sufficiently "enlightened" people know what other people's spiritual traditions are about even better than they do. Since most starseed believers are white, and most of the traditions they try to explain and thus assimilate are from non-white cultures, it's racist as balls.
Another key aspect of the mythology is that for thousands of years, the world has been manipulated by "dark" or "regressive" entities - specifically, the reptilians. The specific version of this they subscribe to comes right out of David Icke's The Biggest Secret, which is basically just a bunch of old antisemitic conspiracy theories with space lizards thrown into the mix. (The antisemitism is often easy to miss because most proponents use dogwhistle terms like "globalists," "bankers," or "the cabal.")
The whole thing is deeply tied in with QAnon and Satanic Panic, including vaccine conspiracy theories, the idea that Trump is a savior figure, and that Democrats are harvesting adrenochrome from babies.
Alleged starseed characteristics are often characteristics associated with neurodivergence, and some believers have outright said that all neurodivergent people are actually starseeds. Positive ableism is still ableism, and nothing good can come of promoting the belief that neurodivergent people inherently inhuman.
Believers sometimes claim that ancient texts talk about starseeds and alien beings more broadly; but when asked, none of them are ever able to provide any texts that genuinely do this. Instead, you just get excuses like "deliberate mistranslation" and "the Vatican is hiding them." They might also try to shift away by suggesting that you meditate or try to access the Akashic Records or whatever. So in other words, all these claims of textual evidence are total BS.
You will often hear statements like "starseeds are here to raise Earth's vibrational frequency." What this actually means is that the purpose of starseeds is to convert other people to New Age beliefs. So in the context of the belief system, they're basically missionaries from space. When you think about it for more than half a second, this narrative is quite obviously lifted from the idea that "primitive" (read: non-white) cultures needed "advanced" (read: white) cultures to enlighten and civilize them.
So yeah, that's a lot of the issues with starseeds in a nutshell. There are more issues that I could go into, but I want to keep this post fairly short. Thanks for reading through!

Hazbin Hotel thoughts : Pets 2
"How are they with pets ?" Vees and other Overlords edition
(Pets 1 (Hazbin Hotel crew) here)
(Pets 3 (Heaven's side) here)
Masterpost here.
Aaaand my titles are still as creative as a rusting cheese grater on sale. Anyway, let's jump to it.
The Vees !
Vox did have an (now archived) Instagram that's also now loosely canon, where he put pics of his cute pet hammerhead landshark Vark (that's probably not in the show the same as it was in the Instagram, but made it in with another form : might be the hammerhead bio-shark we see in the tank in ep 2 and why do I get the feeling we got robbed from something ?) and given his interactions with it, he clearly loves it with all his heart, calling it "baby" and posting what he brought for him (in a handbag), so it's safe to say that Vark is spoiled. One pic even shows it jumping on Velvette with Vox doing a fist-pump, another has an out-of-focus one with Vox being the one jumped on, so the critter can be safely described as rather enthusiastic (and giant. Hell fuck is it big). Which, based on this, gives a rather good idea of how he would interact with a pet : it's kind of a special, non common animal of specific interest (shark), that he will coddle and spoil to high heavens, basically a pseudo-kid. Expect tons of affection, letting it run around to its heart's content with a whole room (or more) dedicated to the beast, and a Never Could Do Any Wrong attitude that might be even worse that Lucifer's in the previous post. He will also train and teach it tricks, complete with lots of praise and treats, and given his management skills vet appointments are no problems (well, for him. Given the animal, very much not so for the vet), even cooing to the tyker that I know, you don't like it, but we'll have to go. I know, I know, I promise it's not for long. Touch it and you're dead, your reputation is dead, your whole family is dead up to the 10th ancestor, even your ashes are dead.
Alternatively, given how Vox is in the show now (still secretely hoping we see that side of him I admit, but I wouldn't place any bets on it), he has multiple shark-like creatures in a GIANT fish tank (at least two of them recognizable as sharks, I've counted four beasties that are seen on the opening of Stayed Gone), which look impressive and silently drift by. So while there's still the affinity for sharks, they look less goofy and more dangerous than Vark by some metric magnitudes and go quite well with his cunning CEO image, even emphazing it ("I think I have... just the one." Ep 2). So it paints a picture of power and silent intimidation, grinning like a shark and tempting to trade into the waters, smelling weakness like blood in the waves and drowning people under false hope : which is pretty much how he'd probably like his pets - hunting, powerful, highly unusual ones, that make him think of, well, himself and his empire. He'll keep them well-fed, cares for them, and likes to watch them swim around, maybe to calm his nerves after a Valentino tantrum or whenever Alastor so much as breathes wrong, more like status pets than coddling pets like his Instagram incarnation with Vark (again, shame*).
*While I do go awww, too bad, the producers, animators and whatnot had to work with an 8 episodes season. Characters also evolve (5 years between the pilot and the first episode), and things get dropped or picked up considering the needs of the show, and the intends behind the characters. The retired character Instagrams (and the pilot) paint the big lines, but smaller details are either contradictory or true-but-in-a-sideways-way compared to the final product, hence why "loosely canon". Vox with Vark would've been adorable, but he's probably not supposed to be that likable in that precise way, and it would've probably not brought the show itself much. I can only speculate why they dropped Vark's previous version (if he's indeed in the show at all), but don't take it as me faulting the show's creators and workers for it : my word is far from being gospel. Or else I'd make a really shitty deity.
Velvette would probably like a small, handholding pet that she can customize and that accords to her tastes, but also cute, photogenic and personable, so expect something like Hell's version of a chameleon, a pug or a Yorkshire (wait scratch that, I said "cute and photogenic"), or something that other people would find hideous but she'll make it work (nevermind, this fits) to show off how good her fashion skills are. She'll parade around with it, and if it has the same bitchy disdainous attitude as her, gladly welcomed bonus. She'll train it to obey only her (to Vox and Valentino's consternation and frustration), but also perfectly : every command is fulfilled within the snap of her fingers, but if the pet does outstandingly well, she won't hold back the treats. In private, she might be softer and more affable to it, praising and baby-talking it, but at the very least it'll have a luxurious corner to live in, and when she's away, her assistants are given the tasks of taking care of it (however not to a keep-an-activity-journal point unlike Pentious in the previous post). Unlike Angel, she might go for multiple pets at once (again, they're taken care of by a whole flock of staffs - good for testing interns and all that), and bank fashion lines and trends on them, associating with Vox to push out new product lines about animal care and fashion.
She'll also have pretend "dialogues" in public with one of them (switching favorites often following her moods - Velvette likes to have a wide choice fan of options) about how ugly or stupid she finds something and what's that you say Pookie ? Yes, absolutely, this dress looks like colored by sewer waters, ugh, good thing someone agrees with me. Think we should fire her ? to someone she particularly despises or deems unimportant enough and won't address directly because she'll estimate it beneath her, or sometimes to have an outlet of her own to vent. Rarely if ever goes to the vet unless one of the critters ate something it really shouldn't, since she's counting on her assistants to be skilled in healthcare, and they better be. Naming will be themed after what she likes, supported by tons of nicknames, and only her will know which one is named what because no one can keep up. Will be more annoyed than sad if one of them is hurt or died, but there will be a pang of sorrow for her favorite ones.
Valentino, well, also had a loosely canon pet queef (those half chihuahua half horsefly thingies, which are two abominations put together to make a third one - kidding, Fizzarolli's are kinda endearing), named... Queef (worse than my title names, good job bud), and emphasis on had, since he shot the tyker dead because it annoyed him, according to his archived Instagram. A safe bet is that it didn't even lasted very long. Which... paints dead-on (...sorry) the picture of how Val would treat pets : it's like a fancy that strikes from time to time and goes away just as quick, the second he's bothered by the critter. He's atrocious with naming them (though Adam beats him for sure in terms of naming things), sometimes can't differenciate one from another because oh right, I killed Queefie last week, you're actually Queefrey (...look at what you've made me do, stupid moth), and doesn't really care in general. Vet ? What's that ? Seriously the only time he'll go to a vet it's to enrol them in his studio if he finds them sexy enough and uses the critter for it. To him, they're not animals, they're trending accessories : something that goes nicely with the fishnet stockings and mink coat for an evening or two, not longer - or a tool to pick up chicks and chucks. If it dies, either he's the reason for it, or he'll just be annoyed.
He might just give them away if feeling generous or in a good mood, mostly to Velvette or his employees (he was the one who gave Fat Nuggets to Angel canonically - which was when Hell probably got a sudden cold wave or something. My sarcasm is having a stroke today, damn, sorry. Often happens when I'm writing Valentino's section, wonder why...ah, shit.), but hates if it disobeys or doesn't do what he wants it to do. Given that he doesn't train them either and expects it to behave like he wants right off the bat, this happens often. The longest any pet has lasted by him ? I'd say a week, two tops.
The other Overlords !
I don't peg Zestial for a pet owner, but again, let's pretend. It'll probably be something silent and creepy, ancient and powerful just like him - I mean, can you see him pick up any sparkly eyed kitten ? Me neither. It would make for a hilarious image, though. But nope, he'll be more like Hagrid than Umbridge in that sense : the most horrifying the better. Given his motif of spiders, he'll have his own Aragog, or some giant chiropteric monster from the dawn of times, with its own gregorious Fancy Name The Nth, something that even Lucifer thought died out ages ago. It's more a mutually respectful companionship than anything else : there's no "owner", no "pet", it just happens to live in Zestial's basement (or wherever he hangs his spindly, spidery legs from) and hunt down nuisances for him, in exchange of the occasional chin scritches. Might also know how to play chess, because why the hell not. Zestial won't like it being hurt, but will let it lick its wounds on its own and wait for it to ask for help, and it'll show up to show support in a fight and some extra manpower if needed. It doesn't obey squat, just agrees with you from time to time. No vet is crazy enough to go near that beast.
Carmilla will probably not have a pet either (too bothersome), but her daughters just might, and she'll allow it (somehow). Strict rules, the animal can't go wherever it pleases, better be damn well potty trained, and girls, if you want a pet, I'm not the one taking care of it - and she will stand by this, unlike some Didn't Want The Damn Cat Parents who melt at the first purr (welcome to the club of cat lovers, I'm the self-proclaimed president, what can I do for you ?). However, she's not against the affection, enjoying some relaxing moments with the pet at her side. Also, just having it around sleeping while she does work is nice and stress-relieving enough. She appreciates whatever "help" it can provide (fetching stuff), and simply talks to it like she would to an everyday person, only repeating words to make it understand what it should or should not be doing. She doesn't like cruelty to animals, and will make very clear what she thinks of someone who does that, but otherwise won't blow a gasket (like Vox or Angel might do). Might favor guard pets to protect her loved ones.
Rosie would be more about some old fashioned and elegant pets like poodles or whatever frizz-furred (or hairless, or scaly, as long as its classy) critter this side of Hell has to offer. However, since Alastor doesn't like dogs, she'll either keep it at home, or simply have another pet altogether, but case in point, it's a home pet, not something to parade around the Emporium with. Having it on a leash in the streets, fan in hand (her, not the tyke), and taking a strut around while waving for her fellow citizens or stopping to chat with other pet-owners is really picturesque, and exactly what she'll do. She'll make sure it's well-behaved, and will just have to softly utter a single command for it to obey. The most questionable thing would be the... diet. One sure thing, that beastie is well-fed.
Part 3 will be Heaven's side. Hope you enjoyed !
Again, Masterpost here.

The Legend of Zelda and shipping
I can't understand people who are like "I only ship Link in every game with one single character ever." What the hell... HOW?!
This seems to be most most common with people who ship Zelda/Link or "Zelink" — always wanting every Zelda to be with Link, because they're the main characters, though the phenomenon does exist with Malink and some other ships as well. And that’s not to hate on Zelink and Malink, because I love them! SPECIFIC INCARNATIONS of them, I mean.
Because there are a bare minimum of EIGHT different incarnations of Link, and you can’t tell me you think every single dude named Link has chemistry with/should have romance with every single girl named Zelda. Like EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.? I just can't with that. It's unfathomable, IMO.
I mean, OKAY, let me back that up: I get that people find it romantic to think that these are like... some kind of soulmates who always find each other through every reincarnation ala Hawkman and Hawkgirl or something, but it's not like they even display the same personality traits or share memories or something in each version of themselves. They just... act like totally different people quite regularly. Because by all accounts, they are.
Furthermore... shit - if we assume the incarnations are all descendants of one another and the same descendancy lines keep hooking up with the same partner lines, at what point do we wind up becoming dangerously incestuous with this repeated pairing? Because that shit seems INEVITABLE in such a case…?
NAH, my fam — I believe each Link and each Zelda are their own person, with their own traits. Their only unifying truth is that every person Link will ALWAYS look best in a green tunic and matching green, pointy flop-hat. (Sorry; I don't make the rules. Facts is facts.)
With that in mind, these are my sundry ships for various Links. And I apologize in advance for the fact that they're all boringly het. :P
Tumblr media
Skyward Sword — Zelink, absolutely. Childhood Friend Romance always gets me right in the heart. I love these two together. The casual playfulness and fondness they display. The lengths they'll go to in order to see each other/protect each other. And although Zelda loses some of her distinct personality when she learns she's a reincarnation of Hylia, she gets her groove back near the end, so it's all good.
Tumblr media
Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask/SC2 — Malink with a bullet. The singing farmgirl and the boy without a fairy, two people who felt alone in the world and find each other. The nicknames! "Don't be long, fairy boy." The fact that you can declare your romantic intentions for Malon while you're still a fucking KID! The Gossip Stone that tells you how much Malon pines to be saved from her daily life by a hero on a horse! It's SO GOOD.
Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass — I'm only mentioning this era because this Link is an ACTUAL CHILD. He's like, what? EIGHT? Maybe ten, if we're feeling generous? So I just want to say: Yeah... I just can't bring myself to ship this literal child with anybody. It ain't RIGHT.
Tumblr media
Link's Awakening — Marink. If you weren't feeling these two by the time their sunset beach conversation wrapped up, I don't know what to even say to you. This was probably my first serious ship from playing the TLoZ games. Plus this ship is a good reason why the original black-and-white Game Boy version's secret ending is actually the best version of that bonus scene.
Tumblr media
Twilight Princess — Ilink. Is there even any other contender worth mentioning? The writing and direction of the cut scenes makes it pretty clear that Link and Ilia are sweet on each other. You barely even meet Zelda in this game, and the only other option would probably be, well... Midna? You know - your partner imp that spends most of the game trash-talking you for her personal lulz and repeatedly slamming her body weight down HARD onto your spine? Mm, I’ll pass.
youtube
Breath of the Wild/Age of Calamity/TotK — Miphlink/Miphalink, no items, FINAL DESTINATION. Their story makes my heart just ACHE. The flashback to Mipha healing him up... Mipha's diary (OMFG that diary)... the Zora armor and its descriptions... holy SHIT, fam. And even if that story DIDN'T melt me into a complete puddle, Zelda put herself out of consideration by stealing my fucking house. I don’t understand why she pulled that, but given her privileged upbringing, I doubt she understands the value/expense of home ownership. So maybe she thought this was like yoinking a french fry. :P
Haven't Played — The only major entry I haven't played yet is "Spirit Tracks" on the DS. So I can't speak to that incarnation at this point. But the two things I can say is A) The Zelda/Link relationship sure appears cute? but B) This is also the same style of Link seen in Wind Waker, so I won't be surprised if she's supposed to be a LITERAL CHILD again (and therefore not a shippable character for me).

a/n: you made it through the character and magic guides, the wiki page and even the reddit post and i hope you had fun doing it! my goal was to make the first few things feel like you were an actual player for seraphim even if it is a bs otome game for a genshin fanfic while also getting the exposition dump out of the way so it doesn’t bog down the actually written chapters. so while you don’t have to read it all, it certainly helps add to the experience i think!

“You’re combing too hard,” you tell the maid tersely.
The maid smiles but there is an unmistakable mirth in her eyes at your pain, “I’ve been with my lady for years now,” she coos, voice sickeningly sweet. “I know how you like your hair to be combed best.”
So [First] tolerated this too?
Even when this world was nothing but an amusing game for you to pass the time, when trinkets of information like this appeared in Hard Mode it always amazed you. [First] was a cruel antagonist and yet she’d easily tolerate the mistreatment of her father’s duchy in the same breath. But you can’t bring yourself to sneer at her; not then and especially not now. “Yes, well people can change,” you shoot the maid a sharp look in the mirror. “Comb my hair gently. If you still need critiques, I’ll be happy to demonstrate your performance. Take a seat here, I’ll comb your hair and show you as an example.”
“T-that isn’t necessary at all, my lady! I’ll comb in a manner you find more enjoyable,” the maid stammers and you hum in satisfaction.
The hell was wrong with the sadists that made this game, you fumed. Fucking sexists. Scaramouche gets a tragic backstory and gets to live in Normal Mode because he’s a pretty boy but [First] has to die in all the endings?!
Or be miserable, another part of yourself reminds you and you can barely hold back a grimace.
[First]’s marriage to Diluc when the player chooses a Secret Love Interest isn’t anything close to a happy ending.
You close your eyes and hold back a sigh. When you proudly declared on twitter that you would be trying to finally beat Seraphim’s Hard Mode, this isn’t what you meant. But apparently the gods of the Isekai genre and the reckless driver that hit you with their car had other ideas.
When you open your eyes, it isn’t your face that stares back at you.
Of course it was the Villainess.
It’s never the main character. You’re no Lumine.
It’s rarely a side character. You’re definitely no Raeliana.
It’s always, always the Villainess. I salute thee, otome isekai protagonists of anime and manhwas past.
You closed your eyes again.
“You must be excited to see Lord Ragnvindr at the luncheon today, my lady,” the maid pulls you out of your silent resignation and you feel your anger flaring all over again.
“Oh yes, I certainly am, he’s my beloved after all,” you offer what you hope is the face of a woman in love. Your maid gasps as if she just saw the devil incarnate instead. Fuck him, this is all his fault. No I’m not being irrationally mad at the wrong person.
Who cared if Diluc used to be your favorite love interest when you were just a teen on her first playthrough of a new and popular otome game, Seraphim. He definitely kick started your love for long-haired anime men and his princely vows of eternal love to Lumine made your eyes water when you watched the cutscene.
Yes, he did all those things but only after he publicly humiliated his fiancée by dumping her in front of all of high society. Diluc then killing [First] after she justifiably freaked out was just the icing on the cake.
When you began your first attempt at Hard Mode, your heart went out for the lonely little girl who only wanted to be loved but only received scorn in return. You wanted her to reach a happy ending with even just one of the characters in the version of the game that took place before Lumine appeared on the scene.
But this is my life now, you open your eyes once more and take in what you can see of the room’s reflection in the mirror.
A large and spacious bedroom, cluttered with potted plant after potted plant. Monsteras, philodendrons, succulents were among the various plants to grace this space. This room was [First]’s heaven on Earth in the duchy. She tended to each plant daily, lovingly imaging the day she could leave the wretched estate behind for a life with the one she fell in love with all those years prior.
But this is my life now, you reaffirm. And like hell am I gonna go begging for crumbs if I’m stuck here.
You deserve better than that.
[First] deserved better than that.
Fuck Hard Mode.
If this was your life now, there was no way you were going to play by the rules.
If no one wanted [First] around then fine.
You will happily leave.

hello!! sorry, i just finished watching new who and i am DYING for more thoschei content. i know classic who has more obviously but i heard there are like also books and audio dramas and comics and infinite other stuff (?) and i was wondering if you could recommend like a list of things to stream in order to get to know more of these two idiots (affectionate) as i am a bit lost in between all the content. or if you could point out a source where i can look that up for myself, it would be great as well! thank you so much in advance <3 and sorry if this seems silly i am v new to the fandom rip
hey anon!! no need to apologize, i'm honored this ask ended up in my inbox! :) and it's not silly at all, there's a LOT of stuff out there. which is wonderful! but can def be a bit bewildering, too.
i'd definitely recommend classic who as a place to start! don't feel like you need to go in headfirst w/ s1e1 tho. just jump in wherever interests you! if you'd like a slightly more curated d/m list:
terror of the autons/the mind of evil/the claws of axos: okay, so it was almost impossible for me not to just rec “all the three & delgado eps,” so have the first three & feel free to continue on if you find yourself loving them (you will)
the keeper of traken/logopolis/castrovalva: a proper lil trilogy of stories that gives us four -> five & beevers -> ainley
survival: the final dw ep! seven & ainley 😼
for some not-really-classic but still on-screen essentials:
the tv movie: aka “the enemy within.” eight & roberts 🐍
scream of the shalka: an animated webcast that at one point rly was the canonical ninth doctor. shalka!doctor (r. e. grant) & shalka!master (jacobi. yes, again. or previously, rather.)
the curse of fatal death: a comic relief sketch written by moffat which features a het version of d/m getting together romantically (now why does that sound familiar?)
for audios, here's a couple that are both standalone & very d/m-focused:
master: seven & beevers. a great audio ft. an origin story that is probably one of the most talked abt things on tumblr, so def check this one out!!
the last line: ten & jacobi. when you're on trial, who do you call for help? your best enemy, of course
blood of the time lords: four & dreyfus. a must-include for me personally bc it has one of my fave d/m concepts ever :)
for books, once you're in the deep end all the novelizations of the classic d/m eps can have great tidbits. some original story recs:
the dark path: two & “koschei.” another origin story that gave us that name for a pre-master master, written by our d/m comrade-in-arms david mcintee
harvest of time: three & delgado working together & confronting the past w/ a lovely dose of master angst
the infinity doctors: infinity & the magistrate <3. don't let these names or its timeline placement intimidate you, just go into it with the idea that this is an au (ish) where the doctor & the master both returned to gallifrey & you'll enjoy yourself!
and finally some comics:
flashback: another origin story which i've uploaded here :)
the eleventh doctor year two: the eleventh doctor confronts the time war ft. my fave lil guy the war child master!

PAC: What will you be remembered for? '90s female icon version
Choose an image and scroll for your message.
Pile 1
Tumblr media
Pile 1, I feel like you're going to be somewhat misunderstood by others, even when you have good intentions. I also feel like if you were an artist, you'd only be appreciated [after you're gone].
But, specifically, I think people will see you as someone who stood up for what they believed in or at least followed a specific path that (only you?) truly understood for yourself or even if you had a very particularly specific way of looking at something or perceiving something. I almost feel like it's difficult persuade you to see things in any other way than the one you want.
I do feel like people understand you are good-hearted. I think they also will feel like they didn't fully know the true you. They might think you kept a lot of things to yourself, consider you somewhat reserved. Because, it feels like there are things you kept hidden or secret.
However, I think they'll also see you as someone who would go to some pretty far lengths to accomplish something.
I wonder if there are some Geminis here because I also feel like there are people you were close to at one point and then suddenly, even after growing quite close, you became bored with them or cut ties. I think, again, there will be people who just didn't understand you for whatever reason, maybe because you were on different wavelengths. Some people might even be jealous of you because you seem so sure about certain things that it might have made them feel alienated because there was no room for their "opinion" on a matter.
I think they also might feel that you think highly of yourself and that could also rub them the wrong way. Not necessarily that you'll be remembered as arrogant but it's because you wouldn't really bend to their wills or you wouldn't let certain petty shit bother you because you were above it and so they interpreted that as "they think they're better than everyone".
This may be true in a way because it seems like you have some extra protection to help guard against haters.
So, most importantly I think you'll be remembered as a person who didn't let shit stick to them, that if you HAD to go your own way, even if it meant being lonely, that you would have.
I still see you as being a sensitive, good-hearted person, it just feels like you have had to do quite a lot of protecting (of yourself).
And I'd definitely recommend that, for now, if you have good news or plans going on - don't share it with too many people as I DO thing other people's negativity can have an impact on your energy so you should really be protecting your own vibes.
Another message is - I do think at some point, you're going to experience a significant betrayal... I think a lot of you could be in creative fields, I think you have a potential to be on a "world" platform of some kind or at least do some significant international travel.
But - people will be jealous of you. People will do things behind your back or take advantage of you because you're too soft-hearted.
I think you will have admirers of platonic and romantic varieties - that when you reject them - they are going to... not take that well.
I think part of your "mission" here for this incarnation is to spready some type of message, but one that not everyone will agree with or simply because they're jealous... or don't fully understand you... will try to knock you off your pedestal... I think YOUR rejection of them is taken a lot more strongly than... others.
Randomly, for protection or luck, I think you might consider wearing gold (clothing or jewelry)... or even maybe just yellow - but I'm more drawn to GOLD.
I think people will be jealous of you when you're at your most successful, so watch out.
---
Pile 2
Tumblr media
Wow, if this were a love reading it'd be pretty juicy. Sometimes I do think that the photo I use tends to draw out stuff about the person in it but at the same time, people will be drawn to that image because they already relate to the person in the photo.
Anyway, so there are some pretty strong cards with Strength, Lovers, ace of cups. People will remember for your inner strength, and, I want to say those who have been "intimate" with you physically or emotionally, are going to look back and - even if it didn't end well - will have to acknowledge what they shared with you and even that they probably relied on you for help in some way, whether that's taking care of them in some way or simply giving them encouragement to do their own thing. I think they'll remember you as... very alluring, even sexy, attractive, and just... something about you is sensual or warm or just really appealing.
This isn't to say people will remember you as codependent, I just think you might be a person who has to either often be in a relationship or, again, has been a "caretaker" of sorts for others, usually the type to date someone with baggage.
I think you're charming and funny, probably tell some good jokes, could be relatively witty/sarcastic with this Gemini energy here (it's Leo, Gemini mostly with a bit of water). So, that's a very vibrant type of personality. I think people are REALLY going to think highly of you and if asked about you, would say something like: They were really the whole package.
Some of you may have been quite wild and hard to pin down or control. I think you were blessed with certain gifts or attributes that others really admired - and instead of being jealous of you, found it really attractive, they would have been drawn to you.
I think either your devotion to spirituality or religion would be something they'd remember about you - or having significant beliefs of that sort whether Buddhist or Christian, but they might think there's something magical or spellbinding about you.
It's weird, even though I don't SENSE Scorpio, it gives those vibes for how much people WANT you or how everyone's eyes are on you or people are drawn to your energy. If you aren't... in some ways an extrovert, I don't think this is your pile because this is definitely that type of Leo-Gemini magnetism combo - intellectually stimulating to others, but also bright and shiny, vivacious. At a party, you'd make people laugh and also be suggesting games or the one to keep the conversation exciting.
I think there's also something special about the way you speak or interact with others through communication - it's gentle and thoughtful and comes from the heart, so people must sense something warm and genuine about you.
For those who are sexual, like THEY ALSO REMEMBER... YKNOW.
Like, you'll be in their top 5 for life, lol. Mostly because of course people can get together sexually and just be ATTRACTIVE AND IT'S HOT but this is more there's an intellectual sexiness that happened here to make them remember - like the intimacy, the dirty talk, the roleplaying or the way it never got boring... I think the foreplay must be quite... special. Maybe you're a bit of a tease, too.
And, even if your time with someone was short - I still think they'll remember you fondly in some way.
---
Pile 3
Tumblr media
Lots of stuff going on for this pile.
People are going to remember you for something distinguishing - not all of you will be famous, but it's like, let's just say that you're the type of person that makes an impression on people. They may love you or hate you, but you seem to stick in their mind, almost like if someone were a household name. Everyone kind of knows you, but it's more like what they know of you is second or third-hand and those images of you they've created in their mind are how they are likely to envision you.
Those who KNOW you will remember you for being a person who believed in social justice, equality and/or fairness. They're also going to somewhat remember any type of drama they associate you with and the drama could include legal stuff, divorces, freak accidents - just sort of weird things. Like... for example... does anyone really KNOW Lindsay Lohan or the Kardashians, or do you just kind of have a fuzzy perception of them filtered to you through media.
So, a lot of people will be like "oh yeah they were that person who got chased by a bear that one time." So people will have IMPRESSIONS of you but I'm not sure as many folks will really KNOW you.
I do think that those close to you will say you were a lot more deep or introspective than you would have presented or say if you showed yourself to be quite happy or lively they'd be like - um no, not in private, she was actually pretty reserved and thoughtful.
They may also remember you as having been a person who changes frequently or had one really big dramatic change where it's like you were one way when young and entirely different as an adult. Or, maybe they would expect you to end up as x or live in x - and when you tell them where you are now, they're like - wait, what? I never would've seen you there!
There's certainly a lot here to indicate you were good with advice or at least helping OTHERS to make decisions, like big ones. I think you'll be remembered for fair, objective, diplomatic advice or even having that type of mindset. I believe Gwen is a Libra, and that's... the energy that's coming through strongest for me, also there's Saturn energy and some general fire, air, earth... I see the earth in the oracle cards but also the wind... I guess I see all of it, oddly the flow gives off Pisces vibes but I'm also seeing it as "air" like tiny whirlwinds.
Like... if you ever played Megaman as a kid, I think there was a wind man or maybe even tree man.
Innovative would be a good word for you like... a trend-setter is definitely the word I want here... even someone who'd be really good at giving consulting advice, particularly if it was aesthetic - makeup, fitness, styling - but overall, people would be like "oh x knows about blah" and then they come to you and ask you about whatever that is because for some reason people think you're "on top of" trends.
As a "psychic" message I do want to tell you that you will have a significant or significant changes and transformations that will happen... I lean toward multiple sort of tower/death moments that shape you over the course of a lifetime... I suppose they happen in order to give you some type of wisdom or knowledge - maybe so that... you have a certain perspective at the end that makes you more understanding of people's various "sides of the story."
Some of you have the potential for being well-known or at least successful at something you do, there is creative energy or passion here as well, and a strong sense of intuition, which I think is also tied into that somehow just being up on trends before they even start... some of you would be great in a fashion field or in social media.
You may struggle to ever pick sides which means you may get caught in the middle of certain unpleasant things, Libra energy can be like that but also people-pleasing... making decisions looks difficult for you and sometimes perhaps... taking on too many things at once, feeling like you... have to get everything done at once to appease people, thus leading to things like being a workaholic or having issues with telling people no, especially in a career setting.
But overall people will remember you as being pretty chill and easy going... like you're not like a WILD TRENDSETTER WOOWOO you're more like a i'm going to sit at my sewing table and create these new threads and then put on a fashion show, repeat.
You may be thinking about getting tattoos, like... soon, especially on your arms/hands/wrists. But maybe you're struggling with exactly what type of tattoo you want, lol.
You may also overspend... like... be bad at saving money.
I think you'll be remembered for being honest, earnest... mostly sincere but in a sweet-air way, not like... a water way if that makes sense. I see you as being a homebody.
You may struggle with being honest about your feelings, though, even if you're good at helping others analyze their feelings and work through stuff. It could also be you just struggle to DECIDE how you feel. Most of your conflict may come from... making decisions... like even small ones... do I want sushi ... or do I want a steak salad... and then overthinking it for five hours and eating a cheeseburger.
But tbh... I don't think you need to rush yourself with anything, especially decisions. You may feel pressure to decide NOW for whatever reason but... I think you just have to be told that... eh... there's no need for whatever sense of urgency or rush you sometimes feel almost... like at random, too... all of a sudden getting anxious that you have to know something RIGHT NOW as opposed to giving your time to process it for as long as you need... so people may remember you for being a bit of a worry-wort... you may frustrate friends from time to time with the wishy-washiness.
Other than that I still see you as a wise soul that gets a bit scatter-brained at times... so, you know, just stick to what you're good at and trust your intuition bc you seem to know things or have a sense for things that are to come before others do.

Monster Spotlight: Chaneque
Tumblr media
CR 1/MR 1
Neutral Evil Small Fey
Bestiary 4, pg. 28
Leaping from treetop to treetop in the primeval wilderness, Chaneque are every bit as terrible as they look, seeing themselves as punishment incarnate against any man or Fey for the 'crime' of existing within their forests. Unlike the versions of these creatures we have here on Earth, the Chaneque of Golarion are universally nasty, hostile creatures that attack and kill other, friendlier Fey beings, feasting upon their flesh, drinking their blood, and turning their bones into weapons against mankind.
Utilizing a disgusting mixture of pixie brains, black mushrooms, and a substance scraped off their own bodies described as a "nectar," a Chaneque can turn the skull of a Fey being into an incredibly dangerous tool; they typically carry as many of these skulls as they can, usually about five or six, and can hurl them one at a time as a standard action ranged attack. Any being struck by the skull takes 1d4+3 damage... and must succeed a DC 14 Will save or have their soul torn from their body and imprisoned inside the skull.
Yes, as befitting of a Mythic creature, this is a CR 1 monster that can essentially kill someone in a single shot regardless of their HP... though I only say essentially because your allies can and SHOULD get to the skull first, as the Chaneque's dark designs may prove even worse than death. Any creature in possession of a skull containing a trapped soul can command the still-living body of the victim, forcing it to obey their will as if using Dominate Monster with an unlimited duration, and which cannot be resisted or dispelled until the skull is destroyed or whomever is holding the skull expresses a desire to release the soul. Should the Fey get the skull, it can turn a party against one another in short order.
But! You may have noticed that the Chaneque has no special dominion over the soul; any creature who's holding the skull can command the victim, and any creature holding the skull can choose to release the imprisoned soul with nothing but a moment's concentration. Since the thrown skull usually ends up at the feet of whoever it just hit, this typically means it's in easy reach of the victim's allies, giving them an easy method to get their friend back. This, however, only works if A) they realize what happened, since it's not like their ally drops dead (they look more dazed, if anything), and B) they're not scattered by terror. Chaneque have both an Aura of Fear (DC 13 Will to resist) AND the ability to cast Fear 3/day, and this is dangerous for a specific reason: fear stacking. Both effects cause the shaken condition even if someone saves against them, but being hit by both the aura and the spell cause shaken to become frightened even if they succeed both saves, and staying in the aura or being hit by the spell one more time causes frightened to become panicked, more or less removing that creature from the fight.
Yet another reason why Unbreakable Heart should be a party of every team's spell list!
If you can't protect yourself from the fear, the Chaneque can become invincible in as little as two rounds as it steals the souls of the whole party one by one... but if you have some fear-protection, or if you can stay out of its 30ft aura and pelt it with ranged attacks, it'll go down quite easily. Chaneque have no DR--not even the token cold iron DR most Fey have--low saves, and no Resistances or immunities of any sort (though they do have a decent 19 HP). Adding to this, their only offense in melee is a single claw for 1d3+3 damage, incentivizing parties to collapse on the little buggers the instant it's safe to do so.
Their weakness, in turn, incentivizes them to play smart. They're cunning little buggers, using their 20ft climb speed into their 60ft fly speed to leap from treetop to treetop specifically to stay out of the reach of the mortals they're trying to steal the souls of. If you're being hunted by one of these things, you may not even notice until it's blasted the party with Fear and started hucking its skulls, gaining control of the party one by one...
Fun fact, though: there's nothing in its statblock that says that you can't take these enchanted skulls for your own use. They tend to have about five or so of the things on them, and any that aren't destroyed can be recovered and used by your party as, essentially, throwable Dominate Person scrolls. If you want to be extra nasty, you can use the Steal maneuver to snatch one, and use it against the Chaneque itself, an irony the Fey likely won't appreciate. This maneuver is likely the real quest when hunting one of these creatures, as they really enjoy burying stolen souls around in their territory, dooming most of their victims to starve to death as they aimlessly wander the woods. Commanding a Chaneque to find, dig up, and release the souls it's taken is likely the party's first steps towards getting Mythic power of their own!
You can read more about them here.

ive talked about this before but. do you ever think about how inherently tragic Ganondorf's existence is?
In most versions of Ganondorf, he's relatively the same in terms of motive. A big bad villain, set out to destroy Hyrule for evil reasons or no reason at all except he's evil and Link has got to stop him. He really doesn't need a motive – he's the reincarnation of the demon god Demise, who hates Hylia and wants to ruin her kingdom. Sometimes he's given something like "wanting power" or "wanting to take over Hyrule because he can", but it makes sense he's going to be evil for the sake of being evil.
But then Wind Waker's Ganondorf goes and says this
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ganondorf was the king of the Gerudo, a group that lives in a harsh desert and lacks a lot of resources that Hyrule had. He saw the suffering of his people and wanted the turn the prosperous winds of Hyrule towards them. That's not only a given motive, but it's....not evil. It's something born of a out a desire to help his people, to do good by them. Not power, not greed, not cruelty, but a desire to be a good king.
Of course he's still the bad guy here and does a lot of evil shit. His actions end up dooming not only the Gerudo but the whole kingdom of Hyrule to a watery grave. He's not good here either just because he wants to do good things. But this implies it's not because Ganondorf does not want to be good, but that he literally can't be good.
Ganondorf is shown here to have a thoughts and a will beyond Demise. He's now about as much as Demise as Zelda is Hylia. He's got wants, not just for himself but for others. He can care about other people enough to want to do right by them. He can full well try to do good things and try to be good, but destiny will come calling one way or another. Eventually, those desires will be corrupted and twisted to fit Demise's wants; to bring ruin to Hyrule.
The cycle of reincarnation is shown to effect all three in some way. Breath of the Wild explored a bit on how the weight of being Hylia's incarnation weighs on Zelda, how the pressure of destiny and how your own wants are shoved aside for it. It does not matter if she wants to be the Goddess's chosen, she is destined to be that.
But I can't help but imagine what it must be like to be Demise's incarnation. From the moment of your birth, your existence will bring nothing but pain and misery to the world. It doesn't matter that you have goals and desire to make something of yourself, it doesnt matter that you care about your kingdom and want to be the king people write about for generations to come, it doesn't matter that you can love and feel and exist as yourself because you have a purpose to fulfill. Nothing you do will ever be enough to fight off destiny and eventually you will lose yourself. The god that cursed you to born will twist your desires to his whim and at that point you will delight in the fires that burn across the land. You are doomed to destroy and ruin everything in Hylia's light or die trying – and you will die trying. Because you are doomed to die by the sword of boy whose just as much as a pawn in this as you are. Because you've been through this before and you will do this again. Because the Gods do not care what you want and their war is never fought by them. Because you have darkness in the very essence of your soul and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
How tragic it must be to play the role of the villain
