A/N: This is the first part of my sub/dom drabble collection with Dom!August Walker.

“You think you’re funny, huh?” He growls in your direction.

You don’t know what you did to deserve August’s wrath today, but that’s all you get from him. A cold glare in your direction, and snarl as you don’t give him a reaction.

“No. I think I’m cute,” you give him your sweetest smile and bat your eyelashes. If you want to survive in this world, especially at your working place, you cannot let a man walk all over you.

He releases a frustrated huff. Most of the women he met in his life would’ve cried when he barks at them.

But you. You are a whole new level of frustration to him. “You’re neither cute nor funny. Do you think it’s funny to mess with my report?”

You bend down to open the drawer of your rolling file cabinet to get a lollipop from your secret stash. If you must face August Walker today, you’ll not do it without something sweet to make him more bearable.

He’s the epitome of a grumpy bear with an attitude.

You sit back up, looking around your small cubicle to calm your nerves. There’s a fake sunflower next to a unicorn plushie. You smile as you remember the day you got it.

“Did you even listen?” He grunts and snaps his fingers in front of your face. August steps into your personal space to stare down at you. “Where is my report?”

“It’s not my job to take care of your reports, Sir.” You dare not to tell August what's on your mind. He’s fucking tall and beefy and the way he squares his jaw makes you whimper.

He dips his head to look at all the nick-nacks on your desk. “What’s all of this?” He asks. “Plushies, toys…sweets.” August nods thoughtfully. “Do you like surrounding yourself with fluffy things, princess?”

You swallow thickly.

His hand. That large paw is suddenly on your face, and it’s surprisingly gentle and warm. Your eyes flutter shut as you bask in his warmth.

“Hmm…you don’t belong here.” He murmurs. “You hate this job, and you’re not good at it. I see the way you dreamily look out of the window.”

Usually, you would protest, but his hand is so warm, and you feel yourself drifting away. “What is it that you want, princess?” His breath fans over your face, making you whine.

“Hmm…” you’re so sleepy and just want to curl into a ball on your bed, wrapped in a warm blanket. “Warm.”

He chuckles at your reaction. August never took his time to get to know more about you. Now he found your weak spot. You’re a natural sub and love giving up control.

“You want to be safe and warm, huh?” He furrows his brows. It’s been a long time since he found a natural sub. Most of the girls he spent his time with lately wanted to try new things to spice up their sex life.

They never lasted long. Not with a dominant man like August. “How about I take you home tonight? We could talk about my report too.”

“Hmm…Julie took care of it,” you murmur, afraid to be any louder. “I don’t know what happened to it.”

“Good girl,” he lowers himself to whisper in your ear. “I want you to get off work earlier today. Meet me at the garage. We have a lot of things to discuss.”

You blink your eyes open the moment he takes his hand off your cheek.

“I—” you don’t know how to react, or what to say. August was nothing but vile towards you, and now he made you feel things you haven’t felt in a long time. “I can’t. You’re so mean.”

“No when it comes to my girl,” he brushes his lips over your forehead. “If only I knew you’re looking for someone like me to take care of you.”

I’d like to think Jay and Nya are very funny because they are both mechanics, but in entirely opposite ways:

Nya has all her tools in proper order. In her workshop, there is never any scrap part going unused. Any notes and blueprints since the ripe age of 12 have been carefully stored and saved, no matter how much she cringes when looking back on them. The Samurai X designs and revisions have their own file cabinet as well as digital backups. Her measurements are double and triple checked, even though she probably had it right the first time. Every choice she makes is calculated and buffed out, from the interlocking gears to the paint job. She prides on her work on being practical and aesthetic, thank you very much.

Jay, meanwhile, is the definition of fuck around and find out. Blueprints? Who needs em, anyways? The only thing vaguely resembling “notes” in his work area are scrap pieces of paper with the most round-about mathematics ever (complete with indecipherable short-hand and a stick figure drawing of Jay holding a blowtorch, naturally.) He will change up plans on the fly and casually stick his hands in very sharp moving parts like there is no tomorrow. Safety equipment? He grew up in a junkyard. He had a wrench in his hand before he could walk. Yeah, no, he’s pretty sure he’s fine, thanks.

#what i’m getting at is jay and nya are both Very Smart and help balance each other out #nya is a perfectionist to the point of frustration and jay tends to be lax on things he should probably handle with more caution #the blueprints thing is just funny to me #because it leads nicely into my hc for dragons rising for when jay and sora meet and she eventually asks him to explain a past device #the next morning jay comes out with pretty clean sparkling blueprints with step by step notes explaining his thoughts #and nya just wrings him by the neck when she sees it #she’s like I HAVE BEEN ASKING YOU FOR THE PAST TEN YEARS— #jay walker #jay ninjago #nya jiang #nya ninjago #ninjago #jaya #ninjago jaya #golden writings

Prayer request: please pray for my grandpa. He's having open-heart surgery tomorrow, and he has two other hospital-worthy health issues that they're going to have to figure out how to treat after that. He had a bad fall back in May, and while he was originally doing miraculously well, he stopped taking care of himself as well as he should have in July (right about when he should have been able to start doing more . . .), and that's led to a whole slew of issues.

Specific requests:

That the heart surgery goes well.

That the doctors will have wisdom to figure out how to treat the other issues.

That my grandpa will be receptive to whatever changes he needs to make to ensure these problems don't come back and new problems don't arise, and that he'd find the motivation to not stay in his current mindset (which seems to be that he's avoiding anything that requires effort).

This is a little selfish, but pray that my uncle (who's currently with my grandpa) would be able to stay with him for his recovery instead of making my mom come up again (after she already spent literally all summer taking care of my grandpa after his initial fall).

#really do appreciate your prayers #all this is especially scary and frustrating because my grandpa was *so* healthy before his fall #like. it would have been very reasonable to think he was ten years younger than he was #because he was still very strong and healthy and independent #he ate well. he was at the gym three times a week. he kept up with his house and his shopping and did woodworking and suduko. #and now he keeps skipping meals #and he barely leaves the house #and he has a hard time walking without a walker #it's like he spent so long being told to be careful during initial recovery #that now he's unwilling to do anything that might be a strain even when he could and probably should #and obviously he's going to have to recovery from the surgery #but! the surgery would not be necessary if he had been eating well and moving and stuff at reasonable levels previously! #and I'm not trying to blame him #I'm just. Whenever I see comments talking about how Steve jumping on the grenade shows that he’s a good person and the right choice for the serum and how John would never jump on the grenade and would cower like the bully guy Hodge and that’s why Erskine would never pick someone like John, I always feel like these comments reflect how much some people fundamentally misunderstand John’s character. Because John actually would have jumped on that grenade if he had been in that training scene.

John’s problem wasn’t that he lacked bravery or the protective instincts of a self sacrifice. His problem was that he lacked Steve’s temperance and confident self assurance of identity and moral center.

He’s not Steve’s “dark mirror” because he’s some polar opposite person, that’s not how mirrors work anyways. He’s a dark mirror because he is all of Steve’s qualities (good and bad) but to the extreme and without restraint. If Steve is at a 100, then John is running at a 200. He is the bravery that can be reckless, the love that can be obsessive, the righteous that can be self righteous, the persistent that can be stubborn, the protective that can be aggressive, and the loyal that can be unquestioning.

He isn’t suited to the role of Captain America not because he doesn’t have Steve’s qualities, but rather he has too much of them without the temperance and confident self identity to balance them out.

Steve and Sam are both better suited to the role of Captain America because they both have that similar temperance and self confident identity. It’s also why Lemar would have been better suited for the role as well. John would be much happier and effective in a different role.

A friendly reminder to all able-bodied individuals: Please do not park in a handicapped space. Even if it's for "Just a minute". In that minute someone who actually needs the spot could come along. Today, I got some petty revenge on someone who decided their time and/or energy was worth more than a disabled persons'.

What's massively frustrating for me is that I won't always need a mobility aide, and that there are people out there who live their whole lives dealing with people like that. So please, don't be a dick.

I think I told yall that my Dr’s office was very confused when I called to check in about the wheelchair and hip brace I requested they ask my insurance about, I have an appointment in an hour to talk about it again and if they lose the paperwork again I will be losing It.
