on wanting to end your life.
I know sometimes the darkness seems like it will always endure, and that the only way out is by violent means; I know the feeling of wanting to end it, and thinking oneself unworthy of life.
I, too, know this feeling.
I promise you that this is false. God sent his son to die for us, that we shall have life. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God chose to bring each and every one of us into this world. Every one of us makes mistakes.
While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, that we should have life. We are exhorted to choose life; if others would grieve for us (and there is always someone who will mourn, even if it does not seem like it), think how much more God himself would grieve at our death.
It is God who chooses our time of life, and our time of death; the Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. It is not our choice, to end our life, but God's.
My dear fellow Christians, I know how hard it is to resist that desire sometimes, when you feel you deserve it, and that you would make the world a better place without you. But God knows it too; God knows your temptations, and God was the one who chose to bring you into this world.
Please take care of yourself. God be with you.

Bear had her first real introduction to a cat today ( a confident old black shorthair named Kitty, who rules a household of German Shepherds and had no problem putting Bear in her place) which primed her for an attempted interaction with Malice, who has never really met a dog before. Malice refused to back down from her fortified post behind the sewing table blocking the top of stairs.
Bear accepted this.
Nevermind that Bear has a couple years and a hundred and thirty pounds on Malice.
Smart girl.

no more cold and calculating i want warm and calculating. i want characters who use deductive reasoning to figure out whether their friend would like a wool or cotton quilt based off of their lifestyle, career, hobbies, and habits. i want "your nails are often chipped because you work for a law firm as a typist for this company which notoriously underbudgets their IT department, so ive bought you a keyboard cover that will not only prevent manicure damage but is also sensory friendly because I know you dislike certain clicking noises". i want characters who figure out their friends entire schedules and social battery levels just by examining who only use that info to know when the best time is to hang out with them. i want characters who create elaborate, supervillain level schemes just to get their hands on some collectible they know their best friend wants. most of all i want characters who do not use intelligence and reasoning skills as a reason to be cruel but as a means to be kind

Sparing a moment from BG3 to think about how nerve-wracking it must have been for Faramir to turn back and ride towards five Ringwraiths. I mean, yes, it was an incredibly cool thing to do, but also an incredibly frightening thing to do.
And it's not just an extrapolation—Pippin can tell he's been through the terror wringer and mastered it, just as one of a crowd seeing Faramir go by.
I think it's pretty important to his character that it's not that his specialness lies in not feeling the things anyone else would feel, tbh. I've argued before that he pretty clearly is tempted by the Ring in TTT for a moment, and his decision not to take it is bolstered by his previous promise (even though he didn't know he was talking about the One Ring when he made it). He's not uniquely immune and he takes care to keep it away from himself to avoid further temptation.
And he is scared of the Ringwraiths. Very scared, in fact. He just couldn't do what he felt he had to do without clawing his way through the terror and coming around the other side. And I do think that's a lot more impressive.
