One thing that really frustrates me about companies bowing to bigots is like
Our 'side' doesn't use the horrifying yet effective weapons that they do. Which is a good thing, morally, but ugh. Like, is that what it's going to take to get these corporations to listen - boycotting every film with white/straight/abled etc people in it, sending death threats to white/straight/abled actors who haven't done anything wrong, showing up at cinemas with guns?
I really hope not, but fuck
I mean... no
Corporations will make media that they believe is safely profitable. Looking at the output of huge media corps is a way of observing where a majority of their viewership is at re: tolerating "diversity" but that's kind of it.
I don't think it's worthwhile at all to talk directly to media corporations and beg them for scraps. I don't think getting Diversity In Star Wars is Winning.
I think fundamentally not allowing Disney and Amazon to be the arbiters of Storytelling is Winning and also maybe those companies losing power generally! Like! Copyright law and antitrust law etc etc being modified to favor small artists over huge corporations! If Disney cancels Owl House the rights should return to the creaters and Disney should not be able to continue to make $$$ off selling t shirts of it! Etc!

one of the critiques I saw about the PJO show was that we lost Annabeth in the first two episodes. She was supposed to show Percy around, explain the camp and how claiming/parentage works, and just build up their friendship. But I'm here to play devils advocate for a minute and say that I'm glad they switched it to luke. In fact, I understand exactly why Rick chose to do it.
We're getting what, 8-9 episodes per season? Maybe 10-11 if we're lucky? (I haven't actually seen what they were contracted for so) There's a looooot of content to fit in to those episodes, and one of the bigger things we need to experience very quickly, is Luke and Percy's dynamic. We need to see how Luke sees the gods and camp. We need to see how both of them carry an anger at their father, and why they do. We need to see how Luke was at the end of the day, just a boy abandoned by someone who was supposed to love and protect him. And we need to see how Percy can see both sides of him because of their similarities and overwhelming differences. Accounting for pacing & what needs to be shown in the first 1.5 hours of the show, it makes much more sense for Percy to spend this time with Luke.
We're going to have the entire rest of the show to watch Annabeth, Percy, and Grover connect and bond. We're not going to have much time to see and understand Luke, who we NEED to understand for the ending of the series to make sense (and even the ending of the season). So, any moment they can take to deepen that understanding, they're going to.
I think it was a good choice by Rick, and with how hard he's fought for the public to accept and love Leah as Annabeth, I highly doubt he's diminishing her space in the story. I think he's solely picking and choosing small parts to change to make sure the plot has the biggest impact it can.

todoroki family brunch: fuyumi doing the catering like the older sister she is, natsuo suicide baiting their father 30min into this brunch, rei is on the balcony tanning, shoto has no idea what’s going on, and dabi feeds hawks a concoction of all alcoholic beverages that were on the table, just to see what happens with someone whose quirk probably makes them a lightweight, happy sunday.

what the cw and all of the people involved in the spn revival need to understand is that AT LEAST half of their loyal public won't be watching if
Cas isn't there
Destiel doesn't happen
and it's just because their queerbaiting made the story evolve in a way that the only possible outcome is letting those two men french kiss.
yeah there is public out there still gaslighting themselves into thinking cas doesn't love dean that way, or even trying to make it seem as if all was a fever dream from the so called hellers. but just take a quick take around the fandom and you'll see that the vast majority of the fans are people that SEE the queerness in all of what they did.
so, if they invest and don't make destiel happen -> bankruptcy.

now that my friend pointed it out i cant stop thinking about the design of the tardis in the tv movie because 1) it was gorgeous but 2) that was a home. that was his home. he had a chair to lounge in and a record player. seeing the tardis in the tv show, that one huge console room, bigger on the inside and yeah, it’s impressive but it’s functional. (i’m assuming this is a budget thing, because it would probably be extremely impractical to have the kind of set they put together for the tv movie for every episode of an actual show lmao.)
there’s just something so. i think it’s the first time i’ve really looked at the doctor in the tardis and thought, right, he lives in there. rather than it just being his car. it is very funny to think of the doctor as a guy living out of his shitty van, but no, the tardis can be a home. it can be warm and comfy and full of knick-knacks.

one thing that stands out to me about the IVF arc is the way that, for as much as i make fun of her for asking her coworker if she can have his babies, scully asking mulder to be involved in the biggest process of her life (and the most important thing in the rest of her life) is such a healing and reverent experience. like he says “i’m absolutely flattered,” but it’s so much more than that. it’s like…spending your whole life feeling like you should’ve died at age twelve and then being told someone just wants more of you, more and more and more, in everything.

i don't see us getting further information about bucktommy's relationship in 7x10 (like calling each other boyfriends or haphazardly breaking up) simply because i don't think they know what they want to do in season 8 yet. they tested the waters with tommy's first four episodes and brought him back for the last two episodes to establish his presence a bit more but why would they write themselves into a corner with no farsight yet when they could instead leave it at this ambiguously good place which gives them more creative room for s8?
this way they could direct that storyline any way they want depending on what they wanna explore with it - maybe they'll wanna pick it up from the dating stage or it could be that they're established boyfriends once they come back. they could go with tommy being buck's big love or that despite buck wanting to exploring this with tommy it not working out etc. i think they have a lot of more things to consider with buck's romantic arc now, not to mention for how much and how long lou can commit to the show, that they'll want to take their time figuring that all out.
