“It’s chilly up here” you stated, arms coming up to cross your chest as you ran your palms up and down your arms, seeking warmth, your eyes immediately landed on Remus, his back turned to you. He was slightly bent down, looking into a large telescope pointed to the stars. 

Remus had made you come up here, he said he wanted you to see how pretty the sky looked tonight- one of the clearest nights in September. 

Upon hearing your voice, Remus spun around, taking his hands off of the telescope his attention was just on, giving you a quick look up and down, a smile gracing his lips before making his way over. Without a second thought, he tugged at the hem of his jumper, pulling it up and over his head and your attention snapped to where his shirt underneath rose with the woollen material, revealing a sliver of skin and a few scars that painted the exposed area. Quickly, your eyes flicking to his arms instead, as to not be too obvious with your ogling, not that Remus would mind, he loved when he caught you staring as it made you ‘shy’, that’s what he says anyway. You immediately noticed the goosebumps that rose across his fair skin, feeling a bit guilty that he was so kind to offer his only object of warmth. His problem with being such a gentleman.

 “Arms up” he instructed and once you did it he pulled his sweater over your head, a grin replacing the smile on his lips from how big it was on you- though that was definitely thanks to Remus’ tall stature. 

“Come here, sweetheart, let me show you something” he said, guiding you over to the telescope he was just standing at, palm splayed across your lower back, feeling his soft jumper on you since you were shorter did something to Remus, it made his brain all fuzzy and it made him want to be even closer to you, touching you. You let him move you, always enjoying how his bigger build let him do anything he wanted. Once you both made it to the telescope he tilted it down slightly and gestured for you to look into it 

“wow..” you mumbled, seeing the constellation so clearly you thought the telescope must have been charmed with an unbluring spell.

“Canis Major” Remus whispered near your ear and you pulled away from the telescope to look at him, he offered you his hand and you took it without hesitation and he took you over to the edge of the balcony so you could see the constellation with your own eyes. 

“And if you follow it down..” he mumbled, moving to stand behind you, bending down slightly so his head was almost hooked over your shoulder, his hand trailing across your shoulder, down your arm until he held onto your hand, stretching your pointer finger out as he directed it to the stars, “that ones Muliphein..” he whispered in your ear, an exhale slipping past your lips from the sensations his voice brought you “and that one is-” he started,

“Sirius..” you both whispered at the same time and you turned to look at him over your shoulder, a smile spreading across your lips matching his own. Remus pulled away slightly and you were kind of glad he did as you could look at him properly and he moved to stand beside you. “How did you know that?” Remus half whispered, “I didn't realise you doubted my knowledge on astronomy, Rem” you replied, looking up and into his green eyes, but now in the darker light, they appeared more hazel.

“Well, i knew it because Sirius doesn’t shut up about it” he huffed an air of laughter from his nose “well.. I know it because I studied it..” you replied, somewhat hinting that you were smarter than him and he rolled his eyes, clearly realising that “studied Sirius’ constellation?” he raised an eyebrow, and if it wasn't for his grin and playful tone, anyone would think he was jealous.

You nodded and Remus’ grin faltered for a second, though you didn't catch it, too preoccupied with taking his hand into yours and moving him back to the telescope. You adjusted it to the right constellation, stepping out the way so Remus could look in, he looked at you with a confused expression for a moment before bending down and looking into the telescope.

“What constellation is that, Remus?” you whispered in his ear this time, and you swear you saw his adam's apple bob up and down. He pulled away from the telescope, looking down at you with a newfound fondness, “the Lupus constellation” he whispered, moving his hand out to grab your hand and pull you closer, “Lupin is derived from that, isn’t it?” you asked quietly, almost innocently and you swear Remus’ eyes shimmered, you had studied his constellation. Something that wasn’t as obvious as Sirius’. 

Remus was quick with his movements and brang his hand to the base of your neck, pulling you closer as he dipped his face to yours, your hands moved to his chest as if to brace yourself, lips parted “yes..” he whispered breathlessly and closed the gap between you both, sealing your lips together in a gentle, yet very needed kiss.  

It wasn’t too long before he pulled back, his eyes immediately opening so he could smile at you, a smile that you matched even wider.

“Now.. can we talk about how ironic it is that Sirius’ star is ‘The Dog Star’” Remus chastised and you couldn't help but laugh loudly.

Okay, so, I saw your Chaos emeralds DC X Dp prompt and I thought, "What about The Digimentals from digimon 02?" Think about it, they are abstract and embody certain Virtues and concepts tied to them! What if Danny, Sam, and Tucker did the thing with Digimentals instead of the Emeralds! It'd be fun and interesting to think up the Armor evos for them, because they all have different point with each Crest. Like Danny Definitely has a wolf or other big canine for the friendship Digimental due to his protectiveness towards it friends, plus his affinity to Canine ghosts in the show, I'm willing to bet many of his Armor evos would be canine related, like Sincerity would be like a Shinto Fox Priest and Hope would be Canis Major or the Dog star.

-Just incase the ideas of the Digimental are foreign to you? They don't need to be inspired by every concept of the digimental.-Courage: bravery, Reptiles, Sun, Religious beliefs related to sun, dinosaurs, Minor dragon, fire.

Halsin caught his wrist as it descended, holding it tightly. “Fucker! I hate you!” “Astarion, please-” The druid’s tone sounded more weary than desperate, and to add to Astarion’s confusion, his free arm only pulled Astarion closer. The spawn howled and kicked at him, but Halsin kept an arm hooked around his waist, despite Astarion beginning to scratch up parts of his broad chest with his nails. Desperate to cause the druid any form of harm. Astarion felt something press into his back and his body seized suddenly then, feeling as though a cool wave had flowed over him, and he went lax. Halsin freed his wrist to grab at his mask and rip it off, tossing it across the room. Astarion collapsed momentarily against the wood elf, regaining his bearings. His face was soaked, his head ached in the way only the tadpole caused, and his body was still trembling, but he was in it again. - (Or, the one where Astarion temporarily succumbs to Ethel.)

I haven't written about him properly in a hot second. Here's some short stupid fluff with our fave Mr. Butt.

In the quiet of night, where the blinding lights of Seoul can't quite reach the skies, and the usual hustle and bustle becomes a hazy memory, you and Jake lie on a picnic blanket.

You rest your head upon his shoulder as he unwinds and tells you about his day. The chaos of the four crews, and the burden and restlessness that plagues him.

With each passing moment, you can feel him relax. Tension no longer gripping his body. As if with each sentence, the pressure literally lifts.

You move onto lighter topics, namely Jake showing off his knowledge of the stars.

"I think that's Orion's Belt,"

You can see the constellation, twinkling away.

"...And that's Ursa Major," he points vaguely to a cluster of stars.

You squint, not quite sure where in the great vastness he is indicating, but nod regardless.

"Here's the Big Dog," he moves his hand a little further west. Big Dog? Is that another name for Canis something-or-another?

"Big Dog?"

"And there's the Joseon Hat," Jake continues to signal away, ignoring your question and puzzled look.

"..."

"Ohoh! And the Kimchi Dipper!"

"Ok, now I know you're definitely bullshitting." You move to rest on your elbows, giving you a direct view of Jake's stupid grin.

"Took you a while," he teases and you can't help but roll your eyes, "But wait!"

You wait.

"The most important one of all..." Jake's shit-eating grin widens at your confusion, "...My guiding star, YOU!"

Oh. Oh god. That was pathetic. You bow your head in shame. How is this idiot your boyfriend?

"Babe!" Jake half-heartedly bats at you, already pleased with the response he elicited, "Didn't you think that was good?"

So, it took a while for me to examine the second vase I found in Valhalla. I'll be quite honest, I thought it was a blank vase covered in dirt for the longest time. It was either on its side or obscured by other vases, so I didn't really to look at it, but I'm really glad I did because there's a lot here. Like... there's a lot.

So, the first thing I noticed when I examined this is that while this is very simplified, I was able to recognize two things right away: there's a city below, a giant creature in the back and what looks like flames. This is a city on fire. I'm not sure what city, it's too simplified for me to make it out, but it's definitely a city.

We'll go more into depth of this section of the vase later. I want to really focus on this part right here before we do because it's incredibly important. This is a cloud and on it is a figure watching everything go down. Beside them, is another figure (?), it looks spectral (I don't know what this is).

But, I want your eyes to go to the cracks that form on the belly of the cloud. I noticed it, followed it, and it led me... to this.

It's incredibly simplified, but that's clearly a chariot and there's a figure on it. I can't tell if they're raising a whip or something else, but I can tell that the chariot is breaking apart and ready to plummet to Earth as the crack goes right through them. A crack that started from the cloud and looks identical to lightning. Kratos hit Helios with a ballista in the city of Olympia as he was making his way back up to Olympus. The figure in the chariot isn't Helios.

"But now the Almighty Father, having called to witness all the Gods of Heaven, and him who gave the car, that, else his power be shown, must perish all in dire confusion, high he mounted to the altitude from which he spreads the mantling clouds, and fulminates his dreadful thunders and swift lightning-bolts terrific..."

The figure in the chariot is Phaethon.

Now, let's go back to whatever is going on here:

I'm not sure what this big creature is, but it looks like there might be a figure in it's mouth? It's so simplified that it's a bit hard to tell, but the figure's arms look like they're raised and holding up the mouth (maybe???) they're wearing a pack on their back. It almost likes a quiver, so I'm wondering if this is Atreus.

I am pretty certain, though, that the creatures to the side of this big monstrosity are constellations. The one on the left might be Ursa Major (which is in the story of Phaethon), but it also looks wolfish so it might be Lupus or Canis Major. It seems to be in the same hue as the reddish-orange vase, so it's a bit easier to make out. The one on the right is definitely Scorpius.

TLDR: I think Atreus is going to need a hug from his dad.

Question 2: Do they have a nickname?

Yes, she’s got a whole collection of nicknames! Each of the seven bros call her something different. I guess it’s more accurate to call them pet names rather than nicknames, but what’s really the difference lol

“The baby” is a common one, from Mammon and Beel usually but the others all use this one too every so often. Mostly to make fun of her, but she doesn’t mind. Like they’ll ask each other “where’s the baby” referring to her, and “how could you say that to the baby?!” Etc etc lol

- Mammon is the main one with the “baby” allegations, though “gremlin” and “nerd” and “dummy” and “loser” are all also pretty common from him. All affectionate! She has been diagnosed with baby, he insists. “Human” is the other very common one, that might as well be her name to him. Mammon only uses her name in particularly serious or soft situations.

- Levi’s not exactly big on the nicknames, but he does refer to her as his player two and his Henry very often.

- Beel usually uses her name, but pre-belphie jailbreak he would occasionally call her “bug”. Sometimes, it’s “little bug”. When questioned, Beel just kinda shrugged and said “I like bugs. And I like you. Both are small.” and that was that, apparently. (The way they all talk about her, you’d think she’s so short, but no. She’s 5’7”. It’s just that they’re all taller than her. And older. And she doesn’t mind being babied in this particular way, so she doesn’t bother to stop them.) Post-jailbreak, Beel adopted Belphie’s nickname for her, and started using that one slightly more often than bug.

- Asmo uses nicknames for everyone, and he’s got a whole roster. He uses “hon” and “sweetie” and “darling” and such like punctuation. He really seems to mean it when he’s talking to Auva, though. “Lovely” is one that seems to be just for her.

- Satan aligns with Beel on the frequency of nickname use, so usually just uses her name. If he does call her something else, then it’s “love” or “darling”. He likes the classics.

- Belphie uses her real name more than Mammon and Asmo do, but less than Beel and Satan—and DEFINITELY less than Levi and Lucifer. He calls her mouse, or sometimes mousie. It comes from that period of time a handful of weeks post-jailbreak (and homicide/revival/time travel situation) when Auva was still afraid of him but working hard on trying not to be, because she was sick of it. She had come up with and executed a self-assigned exposure therapy/desensitization plan. She would approach Belphie, shaking like a leaf but still determined, and gradually get closer, more comfortable. He would respond to that with understanding and gratitude, carefully remaining chill and gentle and reassuring. “Brave little mouse”, he commented, when she first got to the point of being comfortable enough to hug him. Intending it to express his understanding of how scary this is, how much stronger than her he knows he is, how threatening he knows that must be, how awed and grateful he is at her determination to be his friend anyway. They think very similarly, so she understood what he meant. Took it as the praise it was meant to be. Brave little mouse indeed.

- The nickname stuck. She is Mouse, to Belphie. Beel adopted that nickname for her too, because he thinks it’s fitting and cute.

- Lucifer is about as big on nicknames as Levi is. Which is to say, not at all. Still, though, very sparingly he’ll drop one. “Little one”, usually. Or “my dear” or “little star”, because Auva is named after a star. It’s in Virgo. (I did that because MY name, Adhara, is also a star! It’s in Canis Major) Belphie occasionally steals that nickname from Lucifer, too. It’s one of the only things he’ll admit to agreeing with him about lol

Andromeda: 10/10 no notes. It’s perfect disaster name material.

Antila: 6/10 I feel they would be the weird middle child of the family

Apus: 5/10 could be good as a domineering father figure, otherwise I wouldn’t want to call my edgy soft boi Apus Black

Aquarius: 3/10 would get made fun of and not taken seriously

Aquila: 7/10 perfect name for an adventurous lesbian that got disinherited yet is a total badass

Maggie (Current Clairvoyance)

Maggie is enjoying having no actual drama to deal with for once. She has her little family and she has her friends. She has also settled in rather well into her role as an elder, matured if you would. She uses Bridgette’s old realm as a place to conduct meetings with anyone coming to her for advice or if other Elders want to drop in. She’s trying to keep her personal life safe and separate.

Canis Major (Knowledge)

Is Canis, he hardly changes really. He has been finding himself in charge of babysitting more and more though. Annie adores her Great Aunt Venus who still works for Canis. So she visits often and somehow always ends up trailing after the Elder. He hates that he’s bound to answer every question she has (which is a lot) but she genuinely wants to learn which he is fond of.

Atlas also visits often, but is much more reserved than his sister. Far less a headache for Canis to deal with.

Adeline (Medicine)

Still runs her little clinic and receives endless patients. Lyra has actually been visiting her and is a surprisingly helpful assistant.

In addition, she often accepts med students and veterinarians for short-term internships. Most find her by complete accident but help is still help and she’ll take all she can get. To be honest, Adeline loves her job but could really do with a vacation.

Lethe (Lost Things and Secrets)

Another that does not change at all. Lethe mostly sticks to the void she calls home, cataloging and organizing every lost item and whispered secret.

Her favorite hobby is rattling the snow globe Blair is still trapped in. As she sees it, this counts as self-care.

The Jackal- Tom (Mischief)

Travels endlessly, he’s not much for staying in one place too long. More than once he’s run into Nigel and Atlas on their travels and greatly enjoys catching up with them. He’s also caused more than his fair share of trouble and is banned from more than a few planets. Oh well.

The Twins- Who still need proper names (Time/Space)

This is an odd one since it’s actually one person split in two. They have their own little space that watches over the various realities and observing each one. Company is scarce but at least they have endless entertainment.

Blair- (Former Creativity)

Still in a snow globe. Still hating it. He’s also starting to show signs of aging, he was made human after all.

Magpie (Current Creativity)

Unintentionally has, for lack of a better term, “contaminated” a large chunk of the warehouse district where she lives, twisting and changing the world to fit her mood and vision. The Twins have actually reached out to her and warned if she couldn’t stop taking over the reality she lived in, then she would have to move to a pocket dimension.

One lifetime of that is enough thanks.

On a positive note, most of the local artists really seem to enjoy the “park” she has created. Her home still doubles as a theater as well.

in alyssa’s story, canes venatici was renamed corvus, but for the sake of this, i’ll use their originial name. CV’s keyword is Death and they lead their life with the compass of darkness. They tend to be unhinged, saying and doing things that are out of pocket and crazy. Uncontrollable, they also have a standoffish aura about them, like you can't just come up to them and talk to them, unless they do first. They're similar to Poppies (feminine CM) in that manner. Alyssa Sharpe describes them as people who don't come out of their cave to do anything unless there's an adventure, a princess to save, or a holy grail to search for.

I’m not really a certified person to add my thoughts, but I want to say that their darkness is within themselves and an important part of them to explore. The regressive canes venatici’s seem to be the ones that indulge in their darkness and don’t do anything about it but add pain and suffering to the world. The progressive canes venatici’s use Light to shine on their darkness with introspection. Exploring their own and others’ dark caves, they can add beauty and knowledge to the world by going within.

Canis Major: hero, legend, myth

now canis major’s keyword is light....cm was renamed pyxis recently but bc it’s not official, i’ll again use the original name. the old canis major vs canes venatici polarity was described as if cm’s were superman, and cv’s were batman. canis major’s were described as the stereotypical alpha male that is liked by everyone, has leadership qualities and is always striving to be the best. it’s the archetype that society, movies, media always deems the masculinity should try to be. although there is a lot of truth to existing information about canis majors, it also feels oversimplified, as if there’s a missing and neglected layer of the canis major. 

if you look at a canis major’s lives they definitely use light as their compass, having big dreams to play big roles. but without darkness or struggles, they tend to be ass hats, always being hard on other people, they become like jerry from rick and morty, criticizing his wife’s abilities while being a couch surfer. when balanced with darkness, they can use death/darkness/life struggles and introspection for balance to keep themselves in check, humbled & instead of being a scorching light, they can be a beautiful light and do their thang

On one hand I love pre-Christian religions and mythologies, their holidays and practices and all of it is interesting. Especially historically Gaelic stuff because I've got a lot of ancestors from there and even though I have negative connection to them or the culture, I still think it's neat and I love it.

On the other hand I am unbelievably autistic for astronomy and the modern scientific seasons don't mesh exactly with ancient Gaelic seasons.

So happy Beltain to those who care. Have a wonderful first day of summer even though we're in the middle of spring. Based off my research I'm chalking the discrepancy up to precession (the slow wobble of the earth over the course of centuries that move the seasons around) and ancient Gaelic societies casting more about the natural world and weather patterns than technical orientations of the earth and its tilt when determining seasons. And honestly, every unique climate and geophraphical location experiences different seasons.

But also, modern Earth can't just say this is the first day of summer! At least acknowledge that isn't quite accurate in the modern world. The middle of spring is definitely way more full of life than the beginning of spring, but it's still spring these days. I think this calendar shift can also explain why the summer solstice is commonly celebrated as the middle of summer even though it's the first day of summer.

Idk, I love celebrating the earth and her natural world, the seasons, and all of that, and I love historical holidays and celebrations, but I get pulled out of the immersion when the first of May is celebrated as the first day of summer.

Its like the difference between geographical north and magnetic north, or between enjoying a fun movie about fairies and getting hung up on them showing a full moon on the horizon when the plot says its almost midnight. Or saying the thumb isn't a finger because it is anatomically different from the rest of your fingers even though language was created for day to day functioning before science and this the thumb is functionally a finger.

Honestly, ignore this because belting actually being the beginning of summer and putting the solstice as the mid point would make so much sense too. Then the 'dog days' of summer (when Sirius the brightest star which happens to be in canis major the big dog is first visible in the early morning, lining up with the flooding of the Nile, the hottest days of summer, and the beginning of harvest season in lots of places in the ancient world) would be near the end of summer.

So yeah, happy Beltain for anyone who cares.

I reluctantly shook his hand “ y/n” “nice to meet you y/n” . I smiled and looked back down at my book. Sirius sat down on the couch next to me and said “your not into the party scene ?” “ not really “ you said “ well how bought you read me that book cause if I’m being honest I drank to much and if I move I might throw up “ Sirius said half jokingly half dead sirius 🧍🏻..... anyway um “ ok but if you feel like throwing up maybe we should find your friends or like a restroom ok” “ aye aye captain” sirius said while waiting for you to start the book. Safe to say that night was fun even if you guys just spent it reading but sirius was a very silly guy he could would and does make a joke out of anything even constellations .

Hi could you help explain the cut between obi wans character between rots and anh? I can see him definitely blindly following the council in the prequels to the point where he actually attempts to kill anakin but then there’s a cut between his character in anh where he full on manipulates into trying to kill his own father. I know he followed the council strictly but it just feels… off for him. He clearly got emotional when he saw anakin and padmes children but what could’ve happened between that space of time that made him think it was ok to get Luke to wipe up the mess he contributed to?? (I’ve only watched 2003 clone wars and the prequels and OG trilogy for reference, I know that maybe the re do of clone wars might have some more info on it but I haven’t found the time to watch it. Even in the 2003 one I can see him being a bit of a dick and neglecting anakins needs but in ep 2 he comes off as more understanding.) thanks

If you look at Obi-Wan’s relationships with the people he cares about in the main canon of the OT and PT sagas (the movies and some of TCW here and there), his characterization is pretty consistent. Obi-Wan loves the people he grows attached to deeply, but it’s never enough to stop him from ass-kissing Yoda and the Jedi Council to fit in with them because, in spite of putting on a very arrogant and self-assured mask, much like Anakin’s sense of faith in his personal moral integrity and values weakens underneath that veil of bravado he wears, Obi-Wan doesn’t have faith in his own independence and personal beliefs either.

Even if he wasn’t the one to go to the dark side between the two of them, I’d still say that Obi-Wan’s lack of security in his own independence and personal beliefs were even worse than Anakin’s ever became. At the very least, Anakin learned to ultimately find some sense of security in his own personal agency and beliefs from his mother for the first nine years of his life, and continued to hold onto it in his love for family and friends throughout his life, even if it was weakened and twisted immensely over the next 34 years of his life in his fear of the unknown and increasing instability under the constant compromised agency of non-stop abuse, corruption, grooming, manipulation, and isolation of the Jedi Order and Sidious.

By contrast, Obi-Wan only can get a sense of security in his morality and self-worth through the external validation of fitting in with his master Qui Gonn, Yoda, the Jedi Council, and their broken and misguided code because he never developed any sense of faith in his self-worth outside of them at all. There is a personal conscience and sense of independent thought buried down there somewhere in Obi-Wan Kenobi, but he has no faith in himself to follow it at all. While he’s not wholly to blame for being that way as an adult since he was indoctrinated into this cult by Yoda from preschool, Obi-Wan also became too much of a coward to do the right thing, too.

I don’t really consider the Obi Wan Kenobi series legit canon. Yeah, the acting was good, but it can’t make up for the bad script, major retcons, and wild inconsistencies in characterization from the characters in the OT and PT movies.

Yeah I’d love to hear Orion hcs! I can share some of mine: ashesandhackles’s great meta ‘shame of my flesh’ makes me think Orion was emotionally distant. But I’ve always liked the idea of there being flashes of a man who, if he was willing to be more emotionally available, could prove to be a parent who while not necessarily affectionate, was better at providing the sort of comfort a kid needs than his wife (1)

Oo, thank you for mentioning the @ashesandhackles meta because I hadn't seen it before. The BCJ and Sirius parallel is really interesting to me and I really love the angle of examining how Sirius skews the narrative because of his experiences with family. VERY relevant to how I skew the narrative about Orion based on my experiences, as it happens, which is why I asked for these hc's in the first place--to challenge my bias. Full circle.

(2) so between those two ideas I always imagined a man holed up in his study and Reg and Sirius being told “don’t disturb your father.” But Sirius and Reg I imagine catch on that Orion (and Walburga), show interest when they excel in their studies so they find a loophole where they can show off their work. And Orion shows those “flashes” when the boys show off their stuff because he doesn’t scold or belittle, he offers constructive criticism.

(3) when Orion like, nods once and says “good,” that’s the highest form of praise you can get lol, and the boys know they did well.

Alllllllllllllllllllllright. This is kind of sweet. This is what I was looking for, something to endear me to Orion. And I do think he was definitely softer with the boys than Walburga and that his praise probably meant a bit more because he's HoH and because he's more reserved.

(4) Showing patience is also key to interacting with Orion longer. Something Sirius doesn’t have, but I hc Regulus as having as a kid. I also can’t help but wonder, because a naming scheme pops up when you look at Orion and Sirius- Orion the hunter in Greek mythology and his faithful big black dog, Sirius. I always wondered if it was a symbolism of wish fulfillment that Walburga and Orion named their eldest after Orion the hunter’s loyal and beloved doggo. Ie: a wish for the heir presumptive to be loyal to their father.

I'm also partial to the idea that Regulus had a better relationship with Orion than Sirius did. Walburga and Sirius butt heads, they have the loud, emotional relationship. Regulus and Orion are more reserved, and they have a calmer, more cooperative relationship.

I like the name thing too! Very interesting! Also, ok. So in mythology, there's Orion's dog, Sirius. But in the sky, there's two doggos that follow Orion, right, Canis Major (Sirius' constellation) and Canis Minor. And so I was like, "oh, wouldn't it be such a fun parallel if Regulus had been named after the alpha star of Canis Minor instead! He's the little dog, ohhhhhh, the symbolism! The irritation at being smaller than Sirius!"

So I looked it up and...the alpha star of Canis Minor is Procyon. Imagine. Imagine if instead of spending my waking hours thinking about Regulus Black, I was hyper-fixated on Procyon Black. I think they should have done it. I'm filing a complaint with Walburga and Orion. Procyon. Pro for short lmfao.

(5) I also hc that Orion is forced to be the diplomat that breaks up Walburga and Sirius’s fights - something he didn’t enjoy doing at all. In that vein I can see Sirius having memories of Orion yoinking him into his office to have short, pointed talks about getting along better with Walburga.

Oh man, someone write this (or rec it, if there's something like this out there already). I want to see Sirius' reaction to getting lectured about being nicer to his mother.

But I actually see Regulus as the diplomat, trying to broker peace between Sirius and Walburga, talking to both of them and trying to wheedle them into being just a little softer, a little more understanding. I don't imagine he loves doing it, but it's his role in the family and that is what he feels he must do.

Basically Orion as an emotionally distant man that could be much more to his sons, but chooses not to be bc he stubbornly feels following lockstep with tradition of a distant authoritarian father is the best way to go. (Until Sirius runs away and Regulus tries adulting by joining a murderous death cult. But then he dies trying to do the right thing by Regulus 😔)

Thank you for these Orion hc's they feel authentic and they are much more sympathetic than what's been rattling around in my head. I am determined to have a nuanced view of Orion and soften my position on him. I will talk about what exactly that position is/was tomorrow when I respond to the final part of this ask.

canis major - do you like writing character-driven stories or plot-driven stories?

character-driven! i actually don't know how to write plot-driven stories, i think. i don't mean that in a bad way, i just never pay as much attention to the sequence of events as i do to the reasons characters act a certain way, so i don't really know how to write a story that's focused on something other than that.

leo - do you have a favorite place to write?

the kitchen table at my house.

i've struggled really hard with writing since i've been at school & i think it's mostly because i only ever wrote at the kitchen table, lol. i have been spending more time at the public library, though, so i'm hoping i'll get used to writing there! but yeah, i really only get writing done whenever i go home.

orion - do you listen to music while writing?

i can only listen to certain music while i'm writing, and only if i'm focused enough on the writing to neglect the other noise.

my brain will get the words mixed up if it has lyrics & i'll forget to pay attention to writing if i know the melody to a song. pretty sure that's just the product of taking years worth of music lessons in a very loud building 😂

phoenix - how do you develop your ideas?

i think it just depends on the kind of idea!

for nothing's changed at all, almost everything is written down. i have a notion page with hyperlinks to other notion pages. on the main page, there's an outline (which started around chapter 50) and there are individual pages with details on some of the more "main" characters. those started around chapter 40, i think. those are mostly like worksheets, they're my little voluntary fanfic author version of those graphic organizers that teachers would make you fill out in elementary and middle school before writing an essay.

one of the big reasons i want to rewrite the first many chapters of nothing's changed at all is the lack of outline for the beginning, actually. there was no developing happening, which was great at the time, but good lord. it's not a very cohesive story. (which is fine! other people like it, i like it, it's better now. i just want to see if there's greater potential.)

for the one shots, there is no process. i look at the google doc and pray for magic. usually i'll rewrite and change things until it's a little (a lot) more developed and clear, but i just start with an idea and roll with it.
