TVs and monitors are separate species with common features, but which features these are have drastically changed over time. the two used to be similar sizes with very similar behaviour, and were differentiated primarily by which connection ports they had.
over time, their courses of evolution brought them closer together in that regard, with both species' survival becoming contingent on how well they could digest HDMI. as their analogue prey, such as VGA and Component, died out, the two display species were faced with the same choice: adapt, or die.
despite this newfound similarity, though, the two species still fill different ecological niches, and the way they adapted to these new environmental situations resulted in further physical distinction in other areas. for example, it is now almost impossible to find a modern TV that is a comparable size to a monitor; while the modern monitor is still limited in dimensions by the desktops where it prefers to nest, the modern TV has an almost unbounded adult size.
another strange new differentiation is that the TV seems to have developed a dependence on internet connectivity and software updates. while this benefits them in the short term, having more selling points than a monitor at first glance, it is working against them in the long-term, with each one's effective lifespan being cut dramatically.
the "dumb TV" that, quite intelligently, does not have any big software features, is nearing extinction, with very few members still producing offspring. and while we may feel sorrow for these displays, it is only natural that they are dying off - they are simply being outcompeted by the once-humble monitor. at the same size, and without the advantage of a wider variety of ports, the dumb TV cannot keep up with the monitor's much more refined adaptations for the same niche.
however, one mystery remains: why did the dumb TV never grow to the same impressive dimensions as its smart siblings? some observations suggests that the larger smart TVs have become overly territorial as a result of their decreased longevity, to the point that they will kill an infant dumb TV if they feel that it could grow to compete with them. it seems cruel to us, but in the wild, it's all a matter of survival. if you win the evolutionary race - you fight to keep first place.

sometimes i think about the span of human existence and how if you spread your arms out in a long line and said my body is acting as a poem of all the universe's birthdays, the smallest sliver of your furthest nail would be our entire history as humans. and you, doing this, feeling your sternum crack into place because you're-getting-old and all of your bones crunch these days: you are the universe, measuring its own timeline. you're the memory of a starburst saying i gave birth to humans at the tip of my finger.
and i think about how crocodiles have been around for way longer than that fingernail and how sharks have been here forever too and how there are sea cucumbers that understand time like an angel would; their ages so astronomically long that i get dizzy looking down into them. i think about my dog, and how i am so fantastically ancient to him (an impossible number, staggering) and how, at the same time, i can order my life in eras of pets-i-have-loved and how my childhood died when my cat did.
and i wonder if the earth does the same thing, if nature keeps time in epochs. if the tree in the house where i grew up said oh a new family and got upset when one by one we all left for college and left behind our climbing and screaming and birdhouses. that same tree collapsed during a bad storm this winter; heartbroken. the whole inside was a hull, shivering and empty. it missed our roof by a whisper, almost like it held itself together so it couldn't pass a hole into the house it's been looking into for years now. the people who took it away clicked their teeth. it was a hundred years old, at least.
there are things that went extinct in my lifetime. there are memories that don't extend to the tip of the finger. four years ago, for the first time: i saw a bald eagle in the wild. ever since they've been sprouting strangely in my life, their origami frames hunched in a racket of brown feathers. something in the motion of wild animals braced against the new england weather - like we all (all of nature, all of the fingertip) have the same shared hate when it's cold sorrow. like in years and years and years of history we never really evolved a better method than to close your eyes and brace yourself against it.
i saw a butterfly today, staggering drunkenly in the early spring air. it's too early for her other friends. i want to tuck her back into bed and say it's not your time yet! her life like a pinprick in my own. in butterfly school they'd have to stretch out their scales and say - at the end of your furthest wing is where you are in the life of a human. she is in my life, isn't she. something about how my heart seized at the sight of her, so brave and lonely and unfair; and how it snowed yesterday (and will snow again, probably), and how, in spite of that, she was out there and flying.
something about waking up this morning and thinking - i'm too old for this. how my hips and knees and back all make new noises. how the other day at a grocery store i picked up the gloves an older woman had dropped, how she'd laughed and thanked me - i can't bend down like you young folks anymore.
something about the theory that there's been no visible life on other planets because we are too early. that we are the first butterfly of spring. all this bravery. we know it is probably hopeless, and still we go. breathless, the same tactic - we brace against the cold.

why is it that we only have like two licenses from any mech producer that’s a good guy? For a game where like there are clear good and bad guys (even if who you play isn’t necessarily linked to that) it seems strange to me that the only loot and XP you get is… more benefits from the bad guys
I can tell you the answer, but to do so, we're gonna have to talk about a completely different TTRPG.
If you've read @makapatag's truly excellent Filipino martial arts TTRPG Gubat Banwa (and if you haven't, here it is), you may notice that every single character class description (with one notable exception) ends with one of these babies:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am not Makapatag, and I cannot write with quite as much grace and eloquence as he can, but I will try:
If you choose to become a Lancer, ask yourself why you mock the name of peace with these weapons of war. You call yourself a saviour, but your steed was forged from the murder of a world. You stride across the sky in a colossus built in your own image, so why are you too cowardly to give it your face? Why do you believe these machines of death can preserve life?
It is important to note that the admonitions in Gubat Banwa are not just there to make you feel bad; they are there as legitimate questions. The Sword Isles have seen so much blood, death and tragedy. Wars are not glorious and killing is not a game. So, knowing all of that, why have you taken up this discipline - no matter how noble and virtuous it might claim to be - to shed more blood, to bring more death, to write more tragedy? What could possibly drive you to this? What need is so great that you must kill?
The thing with Gubat Banwa is that there are legitimate answers to these questions! There are bad people doing bad things, and some of them will not be stopped with words or kindness. Sometimes, as sorrowful as it is, killing is the correct choice to prevent greater suffering and deeper tragedy - but adding less misery and death to the world is still adding some amount of it. Even the most necessary wars will drench the ground in the blood of the innocent.
A sword is a tool meant to kill humans; while it can be used for other things, it is not well-suited to anything other than this. A mech is, in its most basic essence, just a very complicated sword: it's usually used on things larger than a person, but it's still a tool built to kill.
So why have you taken up this path? Humanity was saved from the brink of extinction and has created wondrous technologies like printers, cold fusion and mind-machine interface, and yet you use them to play soldier in a giant metal man. Why do you choose to take up this machine of death, built by the greedy and pitiless? Why do you think these machines can ever make things right?
Because sometimes, despite everything, they can.
Warhammer 40K shows an awful world full of monsters and monstrosity, and in the darkest moments of its history, Lancer's world looked just as bleak, but Lancer's world differs in one crucial way. Warhammer's world has long given up trying to be better, but Lancer's world never did. Lancer's world kept insisting a better world is possible, and it used what tools it had to make it so.
Sometimes the correct choice, no matter how bitter it may seem, is to kill someone. When you need to do this, a sword is a perfectly good choice for the job.
If you find yourself discomforted by the fact that all the people you can buy mechs from are corrupt and immoral - good! You have correctly engaged with the text. You have understood that the sort of people who would make giant walking death machines and sell them for profit are not good people. But you still have a job to do, and you need the correct tools, and those people have them.
Lancer is not a game about a perfect world - it is a game about a deeply flawed and imperfect one that does not let its imperfection stop it from trying. You have to try to make a better world, even with imperfect tools made by unpleasant people.

Omg like I had this dream about it yesterday. So what if batfam decided nope we're gonna ghost proof this house. And in the way they did it, they didn't use blood blossoms, ectoranium etc (blood blossoms are extinct and hard to find in large quantities and ectoranium is a space metal that nobody knows exist yet or confused with kryptonite) They used magic, so it's little less noticable.
And Tim decides to Invite his new friend over, aka Danny Fenton . Said friend refuses to touch anything while there. He wouldn't sit, eat food, or touch any of the occupants. And when he finally accidentally touches something, the spell works and he is captured with glowing chains or straight up thrown back into the infinite realms.
Danny finally has time for normal teenager shit. He managed slowly go through the bureaucratic shithole that is the infinite realms politics and he managed to come out with his sanity intact. Phantom is no longer a menace but a hero that tragically gave himself up to seal all of the Infinite realms (that is kinda true he did go through a nightmare to make sure ghosts didn't attack the living world and had to do the equivalent of centuries worth of paperwork to do that.)
And all things considered ghosts are a thing of the past for most people. ( He hopes that the ones he allows through keep their oaths and stay hidden)
And he can finally be a normal teenager again, albeit in Gotham of all places. But the death in the city masks his more inhuman traits and he really didn't wanna go through another paper work stuff to register himself as a meta without the meta gene, he would have to do that later though.
But he can do that later, he's on a vacation and he's not doing that.
-_-_-_-
He is standing in the doorway. People around him are getting their umbrellas and sadly he doesn't have one. He was debating internally if he should just go or go back to the lost and found for an umbrella.
He was waiting for Tim as he agreed to come for dinner. The car ride to the Wayne manor was calm, filled with few words.
All changed when he came to find the whole manor was covered in intricate magical circles and traps. He saw atleast few that straight up sent him to the dark parts of the realms and he didn't want to touch that. And as much as he wanted to straight up escape, Tim had been asking for multiple days.
So as much as he wanted to flee, his social skills are shit and he didn't want to risk the awkwardness afterwards.
So he tried his best. Didn't touch the ground floated slightly above it, didn't touch the furnitures cuz apparently it was considered part of the house, couldn't touch the walls. Couldn't even touch the residents before setting the alarms off.
He thinks he pulled it off. Of course he pulled it off everything was going smoothly and he just has to make sure he has everyone in the room in his sights and float a bit. Well until the actual dinner. He couldn't touch the food and he looked quite akward so much so Tim whispers to him.
"You okay? You aren't touching your food."
"Oh I'm okay, it's just-" before he could even start with his sorrowful excuses, someone someone grabs his arm, again it wouldn't have been a problem too it would only raise the alarm, until he is pushed down into the chair thus triggering multiple traps .
Big golden chains appear and he is arleady out of the chair by then. He opens a window and turns to say sorry but he accidentally trips over another trap and is pulled into the realms. He should probably cross Tim out of his list of friends.
-_-_-_-
Tim's friend just fell through a portal, should probably call Constantine about that.
Dick was the first one to speak up after the silence that incued.
"Did we just banish Tim's new friend to the shadow realm?"
"Wait why did he trigger the alarm? He didn't seem all that ghostly, was he like Jason"
"Probably. We probably won't see him again, do we just. . . Push the blame onto Constantine?"
" We are heroes-"
"And how the heck are we supposed to enter the realms anyway? And escape! Constantine greatly expressed that portal was one way only"
*Tommorow*
They see Danny just waltzing through Gotham and they pull him aside.
"What the fuck. You got pulled into the shadow realm yesterday! How do you even trigger the alarms"
Danny who arleady went through the five stages of denial and how tf am I gonna explain "oh you see i am a warlock of....uhhhh
I didn't think this far
OH PHANTOM. THE GREAT PHANTOM"
And after a very stressful meeting with batman and the entire JL dark members cuz apparently his alter ego became a big deal without his agreement.
Where he
Had to speed learn how to create duplicates
Had to fight off a few ghost lawyers cuz they wanted to be a part of "the very important meeting of importance"
Got asked to do magic (he's still learning okay?)
He panicked tried to sell one of his powers as a spell or him just having the copy of his patrons power.
More people got worried about him supposedly creating a contract with a very powerful new unknown diety
Got into the JL dark as a warlock
People apparently trusts him now???? As FENTON??????
Apperantly showing off weaker version of patrons power was a bad idea cuz he greatly overestimated the power limit.
He is a powerful warlock of a powerful "demon"?
WHAT THE FUCK DO U MEAN I- MY PATRON IS NOT A DEMON
"so what is he"
Uhhhhhh a guardian spirit?
Uunhuun soo it's phantom right.?? Leme do some research
WHAT DO U MEAN PHANTOM IS APPARENTLY A GOD AND IS KNOWN GLOBALY FOR BEING THE GOD OF HEROES??
Wait . . . . Clockwork. Oh my god.
Now he is the number one call up magic person for the bats now.

Druig X Eternal! Reader
✨ (Gender Neutral) ✨
No Warnings.
After many years of being split up, the Eternals must come together as a team again. Nobody seems to know where you've been all these years, so they've gone to the one person who might know of your whereabouts...
Little did they know that you're a lot closer than they thought.
Tumblr media
"You have given me a lot of bad news in one go, my lady." Druig's tone is a lot less welcoming after he's been told the horrible truth.
"You and (Y/n) are the main parts of our big plan. We need you both to get through this." Sersi explained again. "Will you help us?"
"We can't find (Y/n)." Ikaris cut to the chase, obviously not ecstatic about needing Druig.
"All of us have searched across almost the whole planet." Sersi subtly encouraged Ikaris away from Druig, sensing the tension already rising between them. "All of (Y/n)'s favorite countries, every area we've had somekind of special or significant moment, we've even asked elders who've written many books about (Y/n). Found not a trace of where they could possibly be."
Drugs arms stayed crossed. "I don't think it's my business to just give out personal information like that." Once his fellow Eternals showed up, his peace was interrupted and he now has a headache.
He knows he told them to "make themselves at home," but he didn't expect them to drop all of this shocking news on him about their true purpose as Eternals, and then interrogate him about your location.
"Do you all remember this forest? Beautiful." Druig walked around the room with his hands clasped behind his back, trying to make small talk and steer the topic away from (Y/n). "It was the last place that we all lived together." His tone held some sorrow at the memories.
"I've protected these people for 20 generations now. From the outside world, and from themselves."
Druig towered over Kingo's valete, Karun. "Your kind, my friend, you will be responsible for your own extinction one day. Don't you think?"
Karun looked a little intimidated, but he answered honestly.
"I think that we must learn from our mistakes and do better, sir. You must not give up hope."
Druig did not seem to like his answer, expressing so by possessing Kingo's valet and proceeding to throw his camera against a wall, thoroughly frightening Karun and pissing off Kingo.
"Oh, where is your sense of humor Kingo?"
"You are not a god. You know that right?"
"How ironic. Kingo, the movie star."
"I've directed some things too."
"Oh yeah? Like what?"
"Some internet content..."
"How many views?"
"I don't do it for the views-"
"Let's go. He's waisting our time." Ikaris started heading towards the door.
"We need him and (Y/n)." Sersi tried to reason.
"Ikaris!" Druig stepped in front of the taller man's path. "I missed you."
Druig was really pushing it right now. "Are you not gonna charm me or threaten me?"
"There's a third option if you'd prefer that."
"It must be heartbreaking to find out that you're not mothers favorite." Druig taunted about Ikaris not being the next chosen leader.
"I'm sure she'd be real proud about what you've been up to." Ikaris always seemed to fall for the psychic's taunting.
"Druig, this is serious." Sersi tried to butt in once more.
"I'll tell you what's serious." Druig's voice got louder as he seemed to get more annoyed.
"I've just been told that I was sent on a suicide mission for the past 7,000 years, and that my entire existence is a lie." He looked Sersi in the eyes. "So excuse me for not giving a shit about your plan right now."
Athena stepped forward, brushing away Gilgamesh's hand that attempted to stop her from engaging in the conflict. She'd been quiet this whole time, but nobody else seemed to be getting anywhere with the stubborn psychic.
"This is very important. Everything will be lost if we can't stop the celestial birth. You have to admit that we've all gained somekind of admiration for humanity. Not only will the humans be gone, but so will all of the memories we've shared on Earth. Our memories with each other." Athena turned away from the rest of the Eternals, only addressing Druig when she said her next line, hoping that she'll strike a chord in him. "Your memories with (Y/n)."
Everyone was silent.
Druig let out a heavy sigh, but before he could even open his mouth to say anything, the large wooden door creeked open slowly.
"Hey Druig, I-"
Silence still hung heavy in the room amongst the Eternals, but this time it was shock.
There you stood, slightly different from the last time they've seen you many years ago, but still you. It all made sense now, why you were nowhere they searched, even though they've literally checked everywhere.
Your voice got caught in your throat as soon as you entered the cabin filled with your old friends, whom you may also have been technically hiding from.
"Uh...bad timing." Druig's voice rang in your head. Your panicked eyes met his from across the room.
"Holy shit." Kingo was the first to speak up. "(Y/n) has been here with Druig the whole time?!"
You let out an awkward chuckle, not knowing how to reply.
"What have the two of you even been doing here together for all of these years?!" Kingo's arms flailed in the air dramatically, obviously annoyed that all of their searching was for nothing.
"Actually, don't answer that question." Sprite put her hands up when she saw the look you and Druig exchanged.
"Ohmygosh-" Ikaris pinched the bridge of his nose in disgust.
Confused, Kingo looked back and fourth between everyone. "Wha- I wasn't even aware the two of them are a thing."
Everyone turned to look at the man in purple with expressions that read "really?"
"Are you telling me that I'm the only one who didn't know?!" Kingo was still going on about it. "(Y/n) is too kind and cute for Druig!"
You couldn't help but laugh behind your hand as Druig rolled his eyes, fighting a small smirk.
You had to admit that you missed your family.
"Well I for one honestly don't care where (Y/n) has been this whole time. I'm just glad to see them again!" Gilgamesh stomped up to you and scooped you into a big bear hug, fits of giggles escaping you as he squeezed your breath away.
Laughter eventually erupts from everyone, the atmosphere a stark contrast from how it was only 5 minutes ago.
When all was settled down again, Sersi sat you down and told you everything...
The tragic death of Ajak, your wise leader and mother figure.
How your purpose is to keep a planet happy and thriving just to destroy it by creating a celestial.
How all of your memories have been erased countless times, because you've killed planets and birthed celestials countless times.
By the end of it, you were a sobbing mess. You've always been a little more sensitive than the others, so this obviously deeply soured the peppy family reunion mood you were in.
There was no question that you were going along with Phastos's plan. You wanted to keep these memories that you've spent centuries cherishing, and you wanted to watch humanity grow so much more.
When you declared your certainty about going with them, Druig was dragged in by default.
Wherever you went, he went.
You did the same for him when shit hit the fan in Tenochtitlan and he left.
You knew you'd miss the little civilization that you and Druig have helped create, but it'll still be there after you've saved the planet. When it's all over, you can go back with Druig and continue waking up next to him every morning to start a busy day of harvesting crops and handwashing laundry.
For now though, it's back to Olympia.
....................
"Well, look who it is!"
"Didn't think you'd be so glad to see me Phastos." Druig remarked with a smirk.
"I'm not. I was talking about (Y/n)." He brushed past the raven haired Eternal to embrace you.
Makkari elbowed the psychic, who had been grinning like an idiot while watching (Y/n).
"You look like a lovesick puppy." She signed.
Druig rolled his eyes, but his grin never faltered.
"Well, I for one, still can't believe it!" Kingo's appeared on the other side of Druig.
"I've never seen this man smile bigger than that annoying smirk." Kingo playfully leaned an arm on Druig's shoulder.
"I've also had the displeasure of seeing them kiss like 50 times during the time spand of getting here from the Amazon."
"You're just jealous." Makkari joked.
"What?! No! I get tons of babes! I just don't have the time for a committed relationship." Kingo stuck his nose in the air.
You tried not to smile while listening to your friends tease Druig. You continued pretending to pay attention to Phastos's rambling about a new invention idea.
Druig's eyes caught yours.
"Get me outta here!" He pleaded in your head.
"We just got here baby." Your voice is always so gentle and soothing in his brain. Even though he's begging to leave, he doesn't mind staying as long as you're here.
"Alright. You definitely owe me one, love." A smug look dawned his features as he affectively ignored the two Eternals babbling next to him.
You felt your ears and cheeks blush, going thankfully unnoticed by Phastos.
You are going to do absolutely anything to make sure that you both come out of all of this alive and well. There's no way you could possibly imagine a lifetime without Druig.

Homoeroticism I notised while reading Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (spoiler warning):
“His full-toned voice swells in my ears; his lustrous eyes dwell on me with all their melancholy sweetness; I see his thin hand raised in animation, while the lineaments of his face are irradiated by the soul within.” (Robert Walton about Victor Frankenstein)
“He appeared about fifty years of age, but with an aspect expressive of the greatest benevolence; a few grey hairs covered his temples, but those at the back of his head were nearly black. His person was short, but remarkably erect; and his voice the sweetest I had ever heard.” (Victor Frankenstein about M. Waldman)
“His manners in private were even more mild and attractive than in public.” (Victor Frankenstein about Henry Clerval)
“Excellent friend! How sincerely did you love me, and endeavour to elevate my mind until it was on a level with your own! A selfish pursuit had cramped and narrowed me, until your gentleness and affection warmed and opened my senses . . . ” (Victor Frankenstein about Henry Clerval)
“His eyes sparkled as his cheek flushed with pleasure; and at that moment I thought him as beautiful as the stranger.” (Frankenstein’s creature about Felix De Lacey)
“Clerval desired the intercourse of the men of genius and talent who flourished at this time.” (Victor Frankenstein about Henry Clerval)
“His fine and lovely eyes . . . ” (Robert Walton about Victor Frankenstein)
“I have longed for a friend; I have sought one who would sympathise with and love me. Behold, on these desert seas I have found such a one . . . ” (Robert Walton about Victor Frankenstein)
“My unfortunate guest regards me with the tenderest compassion.” (Robert Walton about Victor Frankenstein)
“His eyes sparkled, and his cheeks flushed with momentary vigour.” (Robert Walton about Victor Frankenstein)
“Margaret, what comment can I make on the untimely extinction of this glorious spirit? What can I say that will enable you to understand the depth of my sorrow [at Frankenstein’s death]?” (Robert Walton about Victor Frankenstein)

How would the Strawhat Pirates react to Blue Diamond reader and her powers?
-Luffy was the one who initially found you, in a quiet cave, weeping quietly, as it was a place where you could be alone and not affect others with your erratic emotions.
-When he inquired why you were crying, you were surprised, turning to see him there, peering up at you (you will be 12 feet tall in this), not effected at all by your ability.
-You couldn’t help but smile softly, leaning down, “What a kind person you are- I am mourning my little sister, she was taken from me years ago.”
-Luffy sympathized with you, telling you about his brother, Sabo, that he lost years ago, hopping up to sit on your knee, not caring about your space at all- but you weren’t bothered, he was refreshing.
-When he asked you to join his crew, you couldn’t help but smile, he reminded you so much of your sister, so full of life, always smiling so brightly, you didn’t hesitate to accept.
-Luffy’s crew was as unique as he was, as you sat down on the deck, so you wouldn’t tower over the others, smiling softly at everyone.
-Brook was instantly enamored with you, as you were so tall, and Sanji had hearts for eyes as they both praised your beauty, which did flatter you, and you were concerned after Nami disciplined them both- after they asked to see your panties.
-Nami was a lot like your other sister, a bit, serious and intimidating when she wanted to be, but also very caring, and she was happy to meet such a rare species, as Gems were regarded as one of the rarest species, as many had been hunted to extinction, for their gems.
-Robin was very intrigued with you, wanting to ask you all sorts of questions about the history and culture of Gems, which you were happy to talk to her about- it made you feel nostalgic about talking about your home, your sisters, and your friends.
-Franky and Usopp were elated to learn about the technology of your species, now lost to all, as it had been destroyed by you when your sister died, after an attack by an unknown force that wiped out and shattered so many.
-You were happy to see their own inventions, you were like a mother, wanted to see what your kids had made, praising them, which was amusing to see them rubbing the back of their heads with goofy, happy grins on their faces.
-Zoro was a bit unsure of you- he could tell that you were very strong, but you looked unassuming, and you told them that you preferred not to fight unless if you had to, but he could easily tell that you weren’t to be underestimated.
-Zoro did enjoy that you were knowledgeable about swords, inspecting his own blades, commenting on the craftsmanship and quality of them.
-Jinbei was very soft and gentle with you, sitting beside you as you both watched the sea, enjoying quiet conversations with each other, talking about your pasts.
-You adored Chopper, he was so adorable to you, and you couldn’t help but cuddle him to your cheek softly, praising him on anything he does- which at first he called you an asshole for, but was blushing and giddy- showing you that he was happy. He was so cute when he wasn’t being honest.
-Sanji, after your comical first meeting, was very kind and respectful to you, asking you all sorts of questions and you would let him relax around you.
-You loved Brook’s music, it was very soothing, and he enjoyed having someone like you to talk to, as you were both way older than you looked, and you enjoyed hearing about his past, even when he told you about his crew that he lost.
-Despite being against fighting, you had no issues defending, creating water spheres around the ship, to protect it against enemies, allowing your crew to fight without getting hurt, unless they exited your water sphere.
-Your crew respected your decision not to fight, unless you had to, as it was your choice, and you did help out where you could.
-They also had to get used to your abilities, when you would randomly start crying, and your sorrow would spread across the ship.
-You were stunned to not see any of them crying, other than a tear here and there, which made you fall to your knees, as that meant only one thing- that they had suffered great sorrow in their lives as well, something enough to match your own sorrow of losing your sister.
-This, unfortunately, made things worse as you wrapped your babies up in a hug, crying even harder as you lamented their suffering.
-They couldn’t help but smile, trying to comfort their motherly figure. You were such a caring person, one that they wanted to protect.

I forget that Ortus was about sixteen when the "extinction event" happened in the Ninth House. The only Ninth teenager left alive.
Gideon tells us that everyone from the age nineteen down was gone. Ortus was spared more likely only so that the unborn Nonagesimus child could have a cavalier and not out of any particular sentiment towards his father.
He must've had friends once, acquaintances, other kids he would stand next to out of habit during the long sermons, maybe equally obsessed with the hero Matthias Nonius. And one day they were all gone. How lonely he must've been, with no one to even share his sorrow with. Harrow and Gideon could at least take out their frustrations on each other when they got older.
No wonder he is constantly deeply melancholic and dedicates all of his time to writing poetry, what else was he supposed to do but escape that awful reality?

A century ago, the planet earth changed for the worst. More oil was extracted from beneath the ground, and the oil production was more massive than ever. The air worsened by the second to the point that humanity needed breathing masks to walk through overpopulated cities. Climate change also took its toll, as the icebergs from Antarctica completely melted as well as the permafrost and bacteria from billion years ago started spreading over the planet. The RDA took action on this and people were thankful for the fact that they took their chance to save humanity. Yet no one knew what they were actually doing behind the scenes. Humanity held their breaths waiting for all these years of great sorrow, thanks to the greed of the rich, to end. Nothing is what it seems, and the hopes of a minority was soon stripped away from them, as the secrets of the RDA came to light. Sending trained marines and scientists to this other planet in our galaxy: Pandora. A planet so far away that resembled our planet Earth. Their living circumstances natural, like the age of the hunters and collectors. No electricity, no mass production and no capitalism, just spiritual beings living in the name of their god. Yet, their peaceful lives soon came to an end, because the humans came to Pandora in greed. A planet not corrupted with technology or the rich, meant a healthy planet. A planet with lots of green. A planet where climate change doesn't play a role. A planet not destroyed. A planet able to inhabit. Coming in peace was never an option for humans, as taking something what is not theirs is their habit. Columbus and America, Europeans and Asia. Slavery. The occupations during all the world wars. They feed onto power. Pandora wasn't any different, as they planned to extrude the natives, forcefully take Pandora's sacred resources and inhabit the planet. While many humans didn't mind this, their focus laying on the fact they'll soon be saved from the dangers they caused, there was a minority in the billions of people that decided to set their foot down. The resistance, starting as a demonstrating group on the streets soon turned into a professional organization to protect Pandora of their own species. Gathering people who actively wanted to prevent Pandora into going extinct, protecting the natives from the monster one calls humanity.
You, (Y/N) (L/N), belonged to said minority. You despised your species. The way they could think they could get anything they wanted. So greedy, so narcissistic. When the news came out about the RDA, you were beyond furious. 'The past is the past. Let it go' they said when they spoke about history— slavery. Yet look at this, the past just repeats itself in different scenarios. 'The government wouldn't do that' some didn't believe it, no one could be that cruel in their eyes. Living in their fantasy world and not being realistic. The government would do it, definitely. Anything for getting their greedy hands on any form of money. Being around ignorant people isn't your cup of tea. 'It doesn't affect me', say the same people that found apologizing about slavery bullshit. The same people that didn't care about climate change and global warming. You didn't deem yourself fit, but you wanted to do something to help the innocent natives. They didn't do anything to deserve that kind of treatment, so you went against the greedy hands. You got questioned, interviewed and monitored for at least a year until you were allowed into the organization. You were beyond enthralled to know you could finally be useful.
You soon started training at the organization with a few others that got accepted for their loyalty and perseverance, but it was no usual military training. You all learned about life on Pandora, you and the others that had potential in them learned to live like the people of Pandora: the bow and arrow, spears, but also hand-to-hand combat if anything were to go wrong. The training honestly went great, you didn't regret taking this step for one bit. You felt fit and worthy, and most importantly you found people around you that had the same mindset as you about this whole ordeal. You had friends that went through this entire process with you, telling each other about their lives and how they ended up here. While they were almost like warriors following orders, every night the group would sneak away to be like teenagers again, kids having fun and playing games. For a long time, it was the same routine. Wake up, eat, and train for almost the entire day, do homework, have dinner, sneak out, and sleep. The homework might have been one of your favorite parts of this training. It was to learn the language of the people, Na'vi. It took some time to master it, as you weren't very familiar with pronounciation. "Oel nati kamy?", your voice sounded unsure as you tried to say the formal way of greeting someone in Na'vi, but you earned a slap against your forehead in return from one of your friends. "No, it's Oel Ngati Kameie, skxwang!"
Years of training together ended up being so worth it, because when all of you reached the end of your teenage years, it got announced that you were finally ready to head to Pandora. You 'graduated' as one of the finest warriors of your class. You felt so delighted to know that all of your hard work paid off in the end. The day that you would finally get shot into space and sent to Pandora to fulfill your duty, you felt the adrenaline travel through your body as you felt incredibly nervous. You were about to leave everyone you have ever known behind on planet Earth to fight for your norms and values. What will feel like only a few years to you, will be a decade for your friends and family. Saying goodbye, definitely was hard. The resistance thought that it was best to not say goodbye on the day you were to leave, but a few days before that. They reasoned it would have been harder to leave your loved ones behind and you actually second that. A lot of tears were shed, but everyone was proud of you for standing behind you thought was correct. This was only a temporary duty, as you would get sent back to earth once you fulfilled your duties, but what if you wanted to stay? In the books, you read and learned that Pandora was like something unrealistic, out of a fairy tale. What if you would want to stay instead and guard said fairy tale til your last breath? You all follow your superiors' suit to the air travel that will sent all of you to your final destination, putting your stuff where they tell you to. With no seconds left to spare, they immediately tell you to follow them to your tubes, you were getting put into cryosleep. You still couldn't believe it. They were going to put you to sleep for six years and you're gonna wake up looking the same, but temporarily living in a dream world you trained your entire teen years for. You lay down in your tube, ready to get put to sleep. The nerves were truly getting to you. "See you on the other side!", you jokingly said to lift up the mood, and your friends started joking around, telling one another goodbyes and what they should do if one of them doesn't wake up. You just lay there quietly, closing your eyes as you waited to get put to sleep.
What actually took six years didn't feel like that to you at all. One moment you closed your eyes as you were put into cryosleep and after what felt like one second passed, you got woken up from your deep slumber. The claustrophobic space you are in makes something inside of you itch. Good thing you were into cryosleep, you couldn't have survived sleeping in this tube every night for six years in a row. Once your tube was pulled out of the wall, you immediately feel yourself floating. So this is what space felt like.
"Drink and eat lots, since you will feel very weak!", a loud voice echoes through the room as one by one everyone left their cryosleep. You float through the room with a smile on your face as you hold onto handles, lockers, anything to keep your balance. An excited scream could be heard from behind you, it was your friend Siria. "You are not dead I see," she jokes as she floats towards you, her arms wide open to invite you in a hug, "this is honestly insane, I can't believe that we are actually doing this!" You wrap your arms around you as you share her excitement, "I know right? We worked so hard for this, I can't believe this is happening." You met Siria on your first day being at the resistance base. She shared her passion for nature with pride and you always admired her for this. A cough is heard behind your back and Siria looks over your shoulder to see who it was, "Kai!" she squeals as she carefully gets out of your hug, floating towards their other friend to engulf him in a hug. You watch as Siria and Kai share their excitement with each other. They really didn't age at all while being in cryosleep, such an interestingly concept it was. You float towards them, holding onto Kai's shoulder to keep your balance and not pass out, because damn they were right. You feel so tired and weak. If you weren't in space right now you probably would have fallen to the floor. Your limbs felt like cooked noodles, you really needed to eat. "The trio is back at it again to cause havoc!!" Kai ruffles your head, your hair tangling in between his fingers as he did so. The three of you were the inseparable trio. While you had a group of friends you hung out with, you three always just stuck together like glue. It may have been the fact you bonded over being reckless warriors, thriving on the thrill and action, or the fact all three of you were top students, but that doesn't matter. Siria and Kai are your partners in crime til death do you all part. The two are engaged in a deep conversation, but you didn't bother to listen or chime in. You wanted to explore, and see what you worked your entire teenagehood for. Grabbing onto the handle against the walls, you made your way towards the huge window, were also most of the crew was floating around. You had to see this for yourself, you had to believe it with your own eyes. What if you were still dreaming?
"Excuse me, Pardon me!", still not used to not having any gravity, you keep bumping into other warriors. A 'watch where you're going!' was screamed your way, but you paid no mind to it as you had more important things to do. Floating past the last person that kept you from seeing outside, your eyes immediately widen at the beauty that lay in front of you. A planet, looking exactly like earth, right in front of you. It was beautiful, the true meaning behind mother nature. You bring your hand towards your cheek to pinch yourself, was this real? Were you truly experiencing this? When you pinched yourself so hard, leaving a red mark on your skin, and you didn't wake up you knew this was real. You were knocked out of your senses pretty quickly, as everyone was told to dress up, eat and get together in the common area. Where that was? No idea, but what you knew is that you were excited as hell. You basically swam through the air towards the lockers, where your supposed gear would be. The sight was probably incredibly silly, you thought, you probably looked like a swimming frog. Yet you didn't care about the stares that were given you. The only thing on your mind was to see Pandora with your own eyes- not out of books, notes you had to read, or drawings. You left without telling Kai or Siria, but you would probably find them, considering you're going to the same destination and those two definitely weren't to miss.
You float past all the lockers with nameplates, looking for your name. You proceed to float, using the lockers to pull yourself up and speed up towards the lockers that start with your last initial. Upon floating in front of the locker that had your last name written on top of it, you slam the locker open in excitement. Clothes sealed in recycled plastic, a pair of shoes, and an oxygen mask. Fortunately, it wasn't those old aquarium-like masks. When you learned about those you thought they were ugly as hell: a head in an aquarium. Those were designed like gas masks. Was that the best way to explain them? They only covered the mouth and nose part to breathe properly, it didn't cover the entire face anymore. You flash a skeptical expression towards the clothes in your arms. They were dark colors, dark colors in a hot amazon-like forest? If it were up to you, you wouldn't have chosen a little more, bare, clothes. For the sweat to at least dry up and not soak in the clothes. "Weird choice of clothes, right?", Siria appeared next to you, out of the blue, making you flinch. You quickly managed to cover it up and compose yourself, "I'm gonna end up looking like a crab while fighting a villain, kind of embarrassing." she laughs at your reply and grabs a hold of your forearm, "come on let's go change. Kai already went to change!" And with that, your friend pulls you with her. Changing your clothes was kind of awkward. The room was a big space where all women changed next to one another. It gave PE class vibes. You felt sticky and disgusting as you changed out of the clothes you wore for six years. Wearing fresh, clean clothes is always better than nothing. The material feels nice against your skin, and very cooling. As you look in the mirror, fixing every detail to look as neat as possible. You roll your sleeves up just a tad bit and tried to loosen the corset-like clothing piece around your upper body. It doesn't look exactly like a corset, but it's one of those clothing pieces that have a corset built into it. The mask is hanging against your hip, ready to be used 24/7 once you stepped foot on Pandora. The pants were a little wide thankfully, enough space to move into.
"What is it with the corset though? Who wears a corset while fighting?"
"Maybe it's bulletproof or something?"
After this whole ordeal in the dressing room with some people whining about the clothes being too hot, while others were second guessing if the outfit was nice to fight in, you finally made your way towards this common area. There everyone was awkwardly sitting, what one could call sitting in space. Everyone was given a granola bar to snack on and a sealed bag with a sweet drink in it. You leaned against Kai, as you were too tired to use your strength to hold onto anything. Eating the bar and sipping from the overly-sweetened drink, you listened to the peptalk your superiors were giving you all. They were mainly talking about how the RDA is sending more backup and technology, so it will be very tough to defeat them. There was also something about dead marines in Avatar bodies that really got your interest. The resistance's insider got this information the moment your air travel left to Pandora. Shit really is about to go down soon, so there is no time to dwell and laze around.
What almost felt like a decade to you, actually took just a few hours before you finally landed on Pandora. During the landing all, maybe twenty of you in total, were seated as you braced for impact. It wasn't too bad, it was like a plane landing. Before the doors opened, the duffel bags you took with you were placed on your laps. You were allowed to take your most important stuffs and put it in this bag. So what did you take? Your phone and Polaroid camera. I mean, you were barely twenty and missed a lot of your childhood, a little living and enjoying Pandora's scenery couldn't be too bad? You put your mask against your face, pressing it down and securing it as you breathe in the oxygen from the earth. Red lights flash through the area you're in with the others as the secured door lowers to the Pandorean ground, revealing the beauty of mother nature. You rise from your seat as your seat belt was already unclasped. Without waiting any longer, you rushed to the outside world in a heartbeat. Watching your surroundings, it seems like you landed on the resistance base. Unlike the RDA base, which you saw during your learning process, this one was more integrated with mother nature rather than destroying it to make space. It was so organic, so natural. A team was already waiting for your arrival, all standing in a row as you lock gazes with a Na'vi. Unlike the things you were taught about Na'vi clothing, this one was wearing human clothes. This was an avatar, the ones the RDA founded. If this already got you excited, imagine what will happen if you met a Na'vi.
You all greeted them in the formal Na'vi way. The sun was burning your skin as you listened to your superiors talk, but the fresh wind blowing through the air made you feel at home. "All of you here, thank you so much for being here and help the Na'vi." One of the people spoke. You learned that she was of importance to the resistance. "Over the past six years, while all of you where in cryosleep, we have decided where all of you will settle and with whom. RDA's focus is on the forest, so that is where we will place you at. We will divide you over the different forest clans, who are aware of your arrival and help." The warriors in front of you held a file, as they all opened it up and divided you all into teams. You waited patiently with your arms behind your back. You were pretty confident about where you would be placed at. Surely it would be a clan where you would come of great use, right?
"And last, for the Omatikaya clan. The top three warriors of the class: warrior (Y/N), warrior Kai and warrior Siria. Ending on top of the class in both theories and physical, they will get placed into the clan in the most danger: the clan with RDA traitor Jake Sully. You will be taken with Norm, who is of importance to the Omatikaya clan." So Norm was his name. A pretty goofy one if you had to be honest. The avatar named Norm stood at least 10 feet tall as he looked down at all of you, literally. You just reached around his crotch area, which is kinda embarrassing because imagining running into his front. Hopefully, he likes to travel in his human body more. "Then that's settled, Oel Ngati Kameie." His hand rested against his forehead, slowly bringing it down to his chest as he watched the three of you proudly, who were standing at front confidently. You flashed him a kind smile in return, ready for whatever adventure you will come across, "Oel Ngati Kameie."
Before you knew it, you were on your way to high camp, the base of the Omatikaya clan. Since the doors of the helicopters were slid open, you could peek out of the helicopter and admire the beauty of Pandora. Your eyes lit up as you saw mother nature herself and the animals that lived within it. It was something so magical, something unbelievable. A group of birds flew past you and you looked back at them in awe. It was a species you never saw before, a species that doesn't exist on planet Earth. "Are those the hallelujah mountains?!?" Kai almost fell out of his seat at the sight, heading over to your body that was basically sitting at the edge of the helicopter. He took a seat next to you as he threw his arm around your shoulders, "they're floating, like literally!" You reached for your bag, taking your Polaroid camera out and snapping a pretty picture of the sight. The Polaroid left the bottom of the camera and you ripped it off, shaking it to make the picture appear, "this is going to be in my travel journal." You announced proudly as you stared at the way the ink slowly faded in. "I can't believe I'm actually doing this, I might throw up and pass out!" Siria leaned back as her head tolled back as well, as if accepting it all if she died right now. Norm watched the three youngsters with proud smiles on his face. He remembered being this excited himself when he first got to Pandora and saw the beauty for himself, "we are almost there kids, brace yourself. You will be staying at high camp to integrate with the Omatikaya." A squeal left Siria's lips as you could only watch the horizon,
excited for what's about to come.
A/N: hii!! Thank you sm for reading! This was an introduction type of part, so it's similar to the introduction of "You're dead to me". Do not worry, this is a Neteyam x reader so he's coming in the next part. Stay tuned and let me know what you thought. <3

So I forgot I actually had a good portion of The Depcepticon Au fleshed out and since I retired that Au officially, I'll give the main bullet points
Thunderstrike travels to different worlds, either bringing deceptions back to order.
Pyrospear (Pyrrha) travels as well with her group, unable to find Thunderstrike or his crew,
Eventually both receive messages from their respective leaders from a planet called Earth
Over the course of years, battles take place on earth, eventually the cybertronian war is exposed with the death of Talon (Qrow) and the destrcution of a city to all the world and humanity is forced to fight for its survival
StormBlight (Sky Lark) dies much to ThunderStrikes sorrow
FireStar (cinder) betrays the decepticons for an opportunity to gain more power but is killed by Crescent Rose (Ruby)
Megatron and Optimus Mortally wound each other in final battle between the two
Pyrospear is given the Matrix of Leadership and becomes Pyrrus Prime while Thunderstrike becomes leader of the Decepticons after megatron's death
The war lasts another 10 years before Thunderstrike realizes its a useless war of attrition that will eventually end with their species extinction while killing the home of another
An uneasy peace is established; Decepticons control one side of Cybertron and the Autobots the other. (Retconning the original idea of them controlling a colony planet, got the idea from the Cybertron Cyberverse and Killzone Shadowfall)
A cold war takes place after, both leaders trying to keep the peace while dealing with rogue elements within each faction that doesn't like the peace
Thunderstrike renames himself Solaris, homage to one of the 13 primes while also trying to distance himself from his former life
Megatron and Optimus are still revered
Solaris and Pyrrus Prime are known to talk to each other when need be, Pyrrus still trying to reach out to him via Arcstrike
Overtime, she comes to understand Arcstrike is gone much like how PyroSpear is gone. Both have gone through too much to be who they were before the war
Both leaders work together to eventually bring a type of permanent peace and the eventual unification of their Race as one
It never happens but the hardwork they did does lay the groundwork for it to happen soon.
Pyrrus does her best to ensure another council and Prime never become corrupt. She is highly revered for her rule with the Autobots adopting the term "Age of Pyrrus Prime" to establish the timeline of her leadership
Solaris is highly regarded during his rule, creating a system of passing down power to a successor, in he himself takes care and guides a young Cybertronian until he finally step-down after ruling for 1000 years. Part of this is leaving Cybertron as not allow the old Decepticon ruler to influence/control the new Ruler.
Oracle is chosen to lead the Decepticons
The Age of Solaris's Rule ends.
Pyrrus Prime relinquished the Matrix of Leadership and hands it to Crescent Rose who becomes Scarlet Prime. The Age of Pyrrus Prime ends
Both Solaris and Pyrospear leave Cybertron together, to travel the universe itself together. Both having eventually grew close once more during their respective rules. Solaris claiming how he wanted to achieve his dream of exploring until he rejoins the Allspark. Pyrospear wanting to join him.
The two leave Cybertron, never to return. Unknowingly starting a tradition/protocol for both their factions in which both faction leaders give up their respective leadership roles when it's time and leave cybertron together to find a new path among the stars. This eventually leads to the unification of the Cybertronian race.

any thoughts about how law and king would react if their s/o turned out pregnant. If she was hiding the pregnancy from them, how long do you think it would take them to notice?
I feel like with Law, the theme of family is a tender spot, full of anguish and envy, he doesn't want to bring a child into this world without being both physically and psychologically certain he wants this, to raise a human being that requires responsibility he isn't sure he has (He does), Law can't see himself becoming someone his child will look up to, having a family is frightening, insecurity already eats away at him, that's why it's a good thing the doctor has someone to keep him calm, and the pregnancy won't be a surprise, since both his S/O and he would have been trying for a babe at the right time, also with his devil fruit, he can just take out the semen if he does come inside and idk spawn it over a toilet, eliminating the unplanned troupe.
With Law there are no accidents.
However, with King it can absolutely be an accident. If his S/O told him that they're carrying his offspring, King would look at them for a solid five minutes in silence as he tries to process whether they are lying or not, face? Indifferent. After the awkward pause, he'll start thinking about the situation he has found himself in. His race is a sacred one on the brink of extinction, King is a pirate with many foes and the sole title of a Beast Pirate means little to idiots chasing after them for revenge. It's a bomb waiting to explode. That's why the first thought that crosses his mind is to hide it and his S/O away.
Then comes the thought of finally not being alone, of having someone who shares his blood with a person he tolerates the most. It's been a while since he was a human with feelings other than annoyance and irritation, he doesn't know what to feel, contentment for himself or sorrow for the little one.
