Sinbad knew damn well he couldn’t hold his alcohol well, yet he decided to drink his heart out tonight.
So here you were, holding Sinbad by the arm and helping him to the bedroom you both shared.
Of course, him being drunk came with a price. That price being him talking nonstop.
“You ‘now…there’s this person I like. They’re so cool ‘nd so fun to be around.” Sinbad slurred as you laid his head down on your lap once to two of you were finally in the room. “Oh? Tell me more about them if you don’t mind. And what’s their name?” You said as you played with his hair.
“Their name is Y/n very sweet name if you ask me. They’re mean to me..BUT! Very very nice to me sometimes.” He said making you smile, knowing he was talking about you. “And how are they mean?” “Because yesterday..they kicked me out our bedroom! All because I…complained about them stealing the covers.” Sinbad grumbled as he folded his arms, acting like a complete child, it was cute though.
“You kind of look like ‘em too.” He began poking your cheeks and feeling your face making you laugh.
“Next time watch how much you drink, Sinbad.” You told him and kissed the hand that was on your cheek. “How ya know my name?” Sinbad raised a brow as he looked at you, squinting his eyes. “Cause it’s Y/n you idiot.” You sighed making his eyes widen.
“Whaaaa? So you heard what I said?” Sinbad gasped and you nodded making the man groan as his cheeks tinted with pink, embarrassed for himself.

Welcome to Revenge of the Underrated!
Some of you asked me to put a "haven't watched both" to be more fair to the more unknown movies, but I've seen other tournaments doing this and I think it limits too much who can participate in the polls. So what I decided to do is a double elimination!
What does that mean? That means a movie has to lose twice to be eliminated. In other words, there will be a sorts of losers bracket that'll be part of main bracket. I'm undecided on whether to do this for only one round or the whole bracket, as it would make the tournament very long. Do let me know if you have any opinion about it.

Is there any fairytale you think would have been cool to see in neverafter that wasn't mentioned?
Fairytales never really were my thing- I was very much a nonfiction kid. When Brennan said he'd sit under tables and read animal facts? Same.
It's not, like, a classic fairytale, but if you're going horror, Ella Enchanted has so much potential.
I also just wish things had gone such that we'd gotten more of Scheherazade and Sinbad.

I don't know if you've been asked this before but what shows or pieces of media influenced/inspired Beanstalked? I know you've mentioned Gitter and Guilt stemmed from your love of Tokyo mew mew and other cool superhero stuff (I saw those mha ocs!). But can you point to any specific shows or books that made you want to create that story in the first place, or changed it to where it is today since it's been rewritten?
FUCK YEAH A BEANSTALKED QUESTION
I think the series at the top of the list that deeply inspired Beanstalked are Cats Don't Dance, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child, Bleach, D. Gray Man, Soul Eater, and Kingdom Hearts,
Cats Don't Dance's entire thing of being about an outcasted group of characters forcing their way into the spotlight, or basically finding their own happiness, def influenced the main motivation for a lot of the main characters in Beanstalked going against the status quo of both their stories and the depressing situation of the world they live in.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas have so many elements in them that imprinted on me as a kid. Like both movies having a crew of side characters that have very vibrant personalities that lead to them becoming sort of found families. And the latter having a villainess that quite literally is the reason I made Nevermore the way she is.
Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child was basically my first exposure to fairy tale retellings with more diversity and was basically the extra motivation to make basically everyone in Beanstalked POC. And I'd say it being a series made in the 90s def impacted some of the vibes I resort to when looking for Beanstalked inspiration stuff like music instead of the expected medival fantasy.
D. Gray Man, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater all had an influence on me deciding to make Marchens unique magical weapons that range from being a typical weapon like a sword to more extreme instances like a whole element or even a location. Plus them all having a large cast of characters was what led to me deciding to have a big cast for Beanstalked.
I know for certain that the Noahs and Arrancars are what made me go for having the Big Bads in Beanstalked be the typical "we sit at a big ass table and plot evil things" but with some coworker banter tossed in like they do in D. Gray Man, which remains like...the only anime where I've seen the villains poke at each other like a family (granted they kinda are but this is about Beanstalked and not a very underrated manga series so lemme refocus).
And Kingdom Hearts will always be one of my favorite vibes just because of how cool the Heartless looked as monster designs. They definitely are what made me think of how fun it'd be to make the ink monsters in Beanstalked parasitic creatures that adapt to their surroundings. And the "book rooms" in Beanstalked are greatly inspired by the opening tutorial level of Kingdom Hearts where you awake in a void on a stained glass platform.
Plus Traverse Town remains one of my favorite locations in all of gaming and is the direct influence and inspiration for Briar Patch being the hub of Beanstalked. I constantly listen to the music whenever I have to design Briar Patch stuff.

I had an idea for quite a while...
So, I was incredibly inspired by @seaslugfanclub Disney Villains/ y/n park assistant concept, so I thought something.
What if there was another company (generic name supposedly) that to go against this incredible idea of the Disney Parks to make the Villains turn into actual people decided to do the same thing with non- Disney Villains as well?
And this other y/n had to take care of them, because they are also very chaotic without a lead of some kind?
The Villains i had in mind for this headcanon series are: Rasputin from Anastasia, Eris from Sinbad the Legend of the Seven Seas, Rothbart from Swan Princess, Thrax from Osmosis Jones, Pitch Black from Rise of the Guardians, Mok Swagger from Rock and Rule, maybe the Kung Fu Panda Villains (Tai Lung, Lord Shen and Kai), also the Shrek villains? I'm still undecided tho
They could also interact with the Disney Villains as well, and make up cool scenarios too!
Let me know what you think <3

Imagine if Sonic Team made a game similar to the storybook games, but where Sonic enters a classic movie instead. Which movies would you like to see used? Let's say one public domain movie and one copyrighted movie.
Something I drew many many years ago, we'll say around 2009 or 2010, was the idea that Sonic would enter a western.
Tumblr media
It was based on two things:
I think Sonic in cowboy boots is a fun mental image
A lasso could be more fun than a sword.
I didn't have any specific western in mind or even any specific storybook in mind, I was just spitballing based on vibes alone. But Sonic the Hedgehog as "The Man with No Name" could be interesting.
Like right away I imagine Sonic is getting suspicious why he keeps getting transported into all these stories so he refuses to give his name in this one, and thus he earns that title and tries to feel his way around and figure out what's going on.
Unfortunately I am not well versed in public domain movies, outside of the usual suspects: Night of the Living Dead, House on Haunted Hill, Carnival of Souls, etc. I know there's a lot of silent-era (and early "talkies") comedy that's public domain now, too. But I dunno how well Sonic would fit there.
For a moment I realized those old classic Popeye cartoons are public domain, including the one where he fights Sinbad, but we already had Sinbad in Secret Rings. Which is a shame, because Sinbad goes on a lot of adventures and it would adapt into a game easily.
The movie itself isn't public domain, but Sonic in Clash of the Titans would be fun. That's my brain making a leap because The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad had special effects by Ray Harryhausen, who also handled Clash of the Titans. Sonic helping Perseus and fighting greek gods would be kind of cool. His friend roster would slot in well there, too.

Ur so cool and I love ur artstyle, it’s so unique and pretty. How long have u been drawing? Also if u only had one show or movie to watch forever and that’s it what would it be?
Thanks✨️
Ahh...since always I think. I used to be on DeviantArt (I wasn't very good lmao) then at 20 I decided to be more serious and really learn. Or at least try. In 2018 I joined twitter then a year later I was in art school and it greatly improved my level. I graduated in 2021 but I never stopped studying. I still have troubles with the basics and my anatomy skills could be better (let's not mention my awful colours) but I do try, everyday to learn something new but first and foremost always have fun with art. Because if you're not enjoying what you're doing, what's the point ?
(Drawing your favs does help👁👁)
You're asking me the tough questions. There are too many I'd love to bring in the afterlife lmao 📼 there are the obvious ones : The Mummy, PotC, Anastasia, Buffy, Hunter x Hunter, Arcane...
Then there are these : Little Shop of Horrors (you loved the Muses in Hercules ? Alan Menken did that already in that movie !) Shawshank Redemption, Mousehunt (okay, if you want to know what kind of slapstick comedy I love, this is the one. And it's directed by Gore Verbinski 💀small world!) The Nanny, Paulie the Parrot (instant tear-jerker. I still have the VHS) Kill Bill, Resevoir Dogs, Robocop, The Fly, Dogma, Starship troopers (hilarious), Galaxy Quest (oh...Alan Rickman) Jumanji, Mathilda, Sisters Act, The Devil wears Prada, The princess's diaries, The Grand Budapest Hotel...(and all the action movies I watched thanks to my father) let's not forget the animated movies that deserved better and changed my brain chemistry : Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Sinbad...
And there's more. The thing is, that question is so difficult to answer. It's like asking me what's your favourite color ? I simply can't just pick one...I love green and yellow but we also need orange and purple and blue ! Movies are like colours and I just need as many shades as possible in my life, otherwise I'd get bored ! I don't know if I'm making sense 🥴
So in conclusion, I just can't make up my mind 🐀

What are your fav random (could be significant or insignificant) premodern historical facts, one for each continent?
Well, I don't know for sure about my FAVORITE favorites, but these are some people/events that I find interesting. We'll skip Europe just because I'm always for more focus on the global premodern world, and for studying ancient and medieval Africa, Asia, America, Oceania, etc. more closely. Too many people still think that "the medieval world' was only confined to Europe, which is.... yeah, not true. Also, I picked two facts for each region, just because.
The Americas
The huge settlement of Cahokia, which sits just outside modern-day St. Louis, is just one of many flourishing pre-Columbian metropolises where Native Americans lived in large, advanced cities. Native culture and civilization in the Americas is also much, much older than you probably think.
A fifteenth-century Aztec king, Nezahualcóyotl, wrote one of my favorite lines of existential philosophy ever, mulling on the question of whether humans had souls and if there was life after death: Do flowers go down to the realm of the dead? The simplicity and poignancy is hard to forget, especially since it comes from a member of a world and a culture scoured totally out of existence by the conquering, colonizing Spaniards.
The Middle East and Central Asia
One of the oldest named individuals in history is the 23rd-century-BC Sumerian priestess, princess, and poet Enheduanna. Obviously she is much older than even antiquity, but I still think it's cool that we have a record of a woman that far in the past.
Ibn Sina/Avicenna, the 9th/10th century Islamic polymath, lived in Bukhara and Samarkand, in modern-day Uzbekistan. My favorite anecdote about him, aside from the fact that he is believed to have written almost 500 books (only half of which, alas, survive), is that one day, he bought a copy of Aristotle's Metaphysics and read it forty times in a row, after which he still didn't understand it. He was deeply disgruntled, until he found an annotated commentary edition that explained it (he was very happy about this). So next time you read a classic and don't get it, please know that one of the smartest men who has ever lived also used the SparkNotes.
Eastern Asia
One of the world's very first novels, at least we know of, was written by a 11th-century Japanese imperial handmaiden, Lady Murasaki Shikibu. It's called The Tale of Genji, and you can get a free English translation if you want to read it. The internet, man!
The 14th/15th century Chinese admiral and adventurer Zheng He made seven legendary treasure-hunting voyages across the world, rather like the fictional Sinbad. He was also originally born to a Muslim family, since Islam has had a long presence in China.
Africa
The 14th-century king of the Empire of Mali, Mansa Musa, was probably the richest man who ever lived. He spent so much gold on his 1324 hajj to Mecca that he inadvertently crashed the Egyptian economy. He was also a patron of the intellectual capital and center of learning in the city of Timbuktu, which held one of the finest collections of manuscripts and scholars in Africa.
The 16th/17th century Angolan queen Nzinga of Ndongo and Matamba is likewise a total badass who ruled for almost 40 years, fought Portuguese colonizers (and won), and is likewise someone that more people should know about.
Oceania
The aboriginal culture of Australia is SO FUCKING OLD, and its history is preserved largely through the exact memorization and recital of detailed oral traditions for thousands of years, that we actually have accurate eyewitness accounts of the end of the Ice Age, meteor strikes, the rise of ancient sea levels, and more. If you don't think that is unbelievably mind-blowing amazing, I have no idea what to tell you.
Likewise, incredibly sophisticated Polynesian navigation enabled the construction of flourishing ancient Pacific societies connected across oftentimes thousands of miles of open ocean, passed down in part by oral tradition and part by techniques such as stellar navigation, study of wave patterns, bird migrations, and other cues from the natural world. They traveled everywhere in their double-hulled canoes, including possibly as far as Antarctica and to their indigenous brethren in the Americas.

Sonic and the Secret Rings Prologue and Sonic profile translations
I’ve been intending to do this for a while but health issues delayed it. Ah well, here it is anyway.
Tumblr media
My name is Shahra... the spirit of the ring. Have you ever read the Arabian Nights? They are thrilling tales told by a nobleman's daughter named Shahrazad to the selfish King Shahryar.
The stories that the nobleman's daughter told were so enthralling that King Shahryar requested for her to tell him more stories, and the tales continued for many nights... Accordingly, This why the "Arabian Nights" is also called the "Stories of One Thousand and One Nights".
The Arabian Nights is full of tales of magic and adventure. For example, "Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves", "The Adventures of Sinbad" and "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp". I am the fairy of the magic ring from "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp".
In the world we reside in now, inside the book of "Arabian Nights", something terrible is happening. A powerfully-magical malevolent spirit is trying to harvest the characters and cause the world of the "Arabian Nights" book to vanish...
If that happens, not only will you not be able to read the "Arabian Nights" anymore, but the malevolent spirit with that power will also try to erase the real world that you reside in...
That is why I have come to the "Legendary Blue Hedgehog" for assistance. I believe that he will surely save our world...
And I want him to stop the malevolent spirit from running wild.
Tumblr media
Blue Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog. A supersonic hero who has had various adventures all over the world. He’s a little bit sassy, always has something cool to say but there’s hot flames blazing in that heart.
I was a little concerned that he fell asleep whilst reading the book but I am positive that he can oppose the hazardous adventures of “Arabian Nights”. Moreover, the most recently-added words to the book...
...are “The Legendary Blue Hedgehog”. That must refer to him.
