Melting Under Blue Skies | Luke Patterson X Reader

English isn’t my first language, so please excuse any mistakes.

Warnings: You might cringe a bit of how sweet this is? I don’t know, just be warned. Also, Luke and (Y/N) being karaoke enthusiasts and enjoying embarrassing their friends.

Characters: Alive!Luke/Alive!fem!reader, Julie, Flynn, Alex, Reggie, Willie. Ray is mentioned.

Modern AU (I guess? It’s settled in 2020 and the boys aren’t ghosts).

Word Count: 3,8K words.

It definitely wasn't a surprise for (Y/N) (Y/L/N) when she heard that Julie Molina had joined a band as their lead singer - Julie and The Phantoms. (Y/N) knew that would happen eventually, Jules was insanely talented and it was clear that she was meant for it - greatness.

The girl had been a close friend to the Molina girl since they were very young, but, unfortunately, they did drift apart a bit after (Y/N) moved from Los Feliz High School. They still hanged out whenever they could, but it didn't happen as often as it used to. Even so, the girl was thrilled to hear that Julie was in a band, and Julie was more than excited to introduce her to the boys.

Chaotic was a good word to describe them, but it was a good kind of it. They were very welcoming to (Y/N) and she thought that, overall, they were a fun group to be around. However, it wasn't like she clicked with them as soon as they met.

Julie even created a group chat so they all could talk and get to know each other. (Y/N) did enjoy the memes they shared and the puppy videos that Reggie eventually sent in the group, but she couldn't say that she had a real connection with any of them.

It took her a while, but Luke was the first one to actually become close to her. All it took was a question.

That said question wasn't even directed at him, not exactly. (Y/N) asked in the chatroom if anyone was up for going out and grabbing some ice cream with her. The issue was that it was already past 1 am and those who weren't sleeping didn't appreciate the idea.

However, Luke did. Apparently, he had had a disagreement with his folks and wanted to go out and clear his head for a while. It was a bit awkward at first, since they didn't know each other well, but spending those few hours together without their other friends was enough for them to bond more than they had in the past month.

It became quite a routine for them to do that, to hang out around the city during the night whenever one of them felt stressed and wanted to vent out. It was just easy for them to open up to each other - even if neither of them were usually good at talking about their problems, since they would rather not worry anyone.

The growing friendship was noticeable to anyone around them and, honestly, Julie couldn't be happier seeing that her two dear friends hit off so easily. Soon enough, (Y/N) and Luke also became each other's best friend.

The turning point in their friendship happened at a party. Well, it wasn't exactly a party, it felt more like a meeting - and it wasn't even related to the band. It was something to do with Ray's job. Of course that when the Molina girl sensed that the gathering would probably be tedious, she invited her friends to come along.

There were no other words for it, the party was boring. However, they had promised Julie they would stay for an hour at least. Luke had to keep reminding (Y/N) of that every time she groaned in discontentment, earning a few chuckles and a pat on her head from him.

He couldn't deny it, though. He wanted to leave just as much as any of them did.

Reggie was apparently in charge of eating all the food from their table. Alex had invited a boy he'd recently started going out with, a nice lad called Willie; and he was thankful that he did it, since talking to Willie was the only entertaining thing about that place. Luke was feeling uneasy, not being the biggest fan of having to stay seated and quiet on his place. He was trying not to let his nerves get to him, only fidgeting with his hands, as (Y/N) was resting her head on his shoulder, equally bored.

That was when her eyes found it.

"Luke." (Y/N) raised her head from his shoulder, eyes widening slightly. That was enough to pique Luke's interest. "Do my eyes deceive me or is that really what I think it is?"

Following her gaze, the boy saw what caught her attention. "Oh my God." he straightened himself in the chair. "They have a karaoke machine."

If you were part of their squad, you'd probably know that Luke Patterson and (Y/N) (Y/L/N) were karaoke enthusiasts and would never miss a chance to sing and perform together. Sometimes they would even get Reggie to sing with them, but he was the only one to join the duo at karaoke nights. That's because they could get a bit too excited and lost in the moment.

"Guys, can't we have just one nice normal evening?" Alex pleaded. They were plus ones at that party and he really wasn't in the mood of being kicked out of there. "Besides, we don't even know these people, Julie was the one who told us to come."

"Why are you worrying so much, then?" Luke turned to him, a smirk quickly making it's way to his face. "We are never going to see these people again."

All it took was the wink Luke threw at her direction for (Y/N) to understand that he would be down for it if she was. Oh, finally something to make that night interesting.

"Do you want to join us, Reg?" (Y/N) chuckled as the boy turned to her confusedly, mouth full of meatballs. She shook her head, letting him go back to his eating. "Willie?"

Alex widened his eyes at her invitation, not wanting them to scare his potentially next boyfriend off. Although a smirk made it's way to his lips, Willie declined it. "I think I'll pass."

Luke stood up, offering his hand to the girl. "Let's give them a show, (Y/N)."

She gladly accepted it, intertwining her hands with his as he pulled her along. Willie laughed as he noticed the slight bounce in the girl's step. "I like your friends."

This one is very funny and cute. Lance is desperate to talk to this boy. It’s great.

Satine: Fuck everything we sleeping/laying in bed. I am falling asleep with my head on her chest listening to her heartbeat and she is petting my hair. We're both still in pretty nightgowns.

(movie) 47: Its just gentle arguments of "why didn't you tell me you feel bad I would have dropped everything for you" from 47 and "we have work to do damnit and we can't stay in one place for days on end I'm fine" from me. I'm a stubborn bastard. But I'm also feeling shitty so I don't argue for long and give in and we cuddle in some car we totally legally own. 47 can drive us to safe places.

(video game) 47: Yeah I'm doing him and Diana separate before doing them together. Do not take that out of context. Anyway. If I feel up to it? A nice bath!! A warm one too. With bubbles. He washes my hair and tells me random facts he knows. Then we cuddle somewhere quiet!!!

Diana: She drops everything and instantly gives so much vocal comforts 🥺😭. "You'll be okay darling, I've got you", "my poor dear, come here", "I'll be with you till you feel better, alright?",,, GAHHH. Then just,,,,,, laying in bed,,,white noise plays in the background,,,

Doesn't matter how long I need we will simply be out in nature.

Javier: He takes me fishing,,,or just to any body of water to camp at. That's it. Sometimes his boyfriend(s) will tag along. Sometimes his boyfriends' girlfriends will also tag along.

Dutch (and Hosea bc I'm too lazy to do them separately): Hosea reads to me,,, Dutch. Idk. He reassurances me about the future. How great it'll be. Because it will. Because everything is fine. Shut up /lh, nm.

Lucifer: Fuck family drama, fuck crime, fuck everything. Close down Lux. Awkward hugs are absolutely required. I will simply koala hug him. He will just carry me around. No one is allowed to ask questions.

Geralt: He just goes "fuck" and that alone makes all my misery go away /j. Nah but he's awkward as heck. What the hell does he do his shape shifting girlfriend is in absolutely misery?? What do?? He probably does some awkward "I know you feel like shit" talk, hand on the shoulder, gives That Fucking Smile™,,,

Jaskier: Second he can tell that noise makes head hurty he shuts up. Nearly breaks his lute. Just. Hugs and kisses. He shows me songs he's still writing. It's silent. Anything that makes noise gets a "shUT UP" hissed out. All is well.

Geralt and Jaskier. OH,,,oh Jask would make Geralt stop and get a room at an inn. Despite both of us protesting. Immediately simply gives little face kisses. Fuckin drags Geralt to the room. If headache allows he sings quietly. If not then we sit in silence till someone falls the hell asleep.

Scully: Work sucks but she calls every hour to check in. And if I don't answer twice she doesn't call after. She just gets someone to check up on me....and if she is home then we cuddling on the couch. Some cheesy show is on. I have my face buried in her neck. Life is okay.

Dean: Kid feels bad call off all hunts. Hot chocolate and some old, cheesy ass TV show gets put on. Either that or he takes me driving to clear my head. Get some fresh air.

Cas: No angel mumbo jumbo happening here bc I would refuse. He uses he wings to block light and noise. That's it.

Volga: He doesn't know what to do!! Tiny husband doesn't feel good?? What?? How fix?? Who needs wacked with the spear. Unfortunately he cannot bonk my agony away. I use his cape as shelter from the sun. Or his wings. Either works. Sometimes I don't need everything dumped to take care of me sometimes I just need to know someone cares...

Dean and Cas: Some combination of the two. Yeah.

Deadpool: VIDEO GAMES if I can handle it. Other than that he'd get comfort foods then fuck off to another room and check in every so often.

Gordon: Hsnckosod. Okay. He gets water, blankets, pillows, etc. If I want him there I will grab him and make grabby hands. Which I do like almost everytime. He gives words of encouragement,,,,like,,,"you're so strong sweetheart", "it'll be over soon, just rest",,,Aohdoskckks.

Heisenberg: Specifically I imagine falling asleep somewhere random and he just. Drapes coat over me. Carries me to a gentle surface. And just shuts shit down and let's me rest. I wake up and find him and fall asleep in his lap. Everything is okay.

I'd do Jon and Martin but I think of this more with Nove than me so it's more specific to them so...

Sully: Bold of you to assume he isn't off doing something else. I KID I KID. We watch cheesy movies (either on silent or with sound it doesn't matter) and banter. That's it. That's all.

Alice: Honestly I don't know. We cuddle? Maybe? Perhaps?

Jason: We live in a cabin together so it's quiet. He has a room with windows boarded up just for when head hurty. He's a gentle giant. Water? We got that. Food? We got that. Blankets? We got that. Cuddles? Yes.

Simon: He is main "I do not feel good" comfort f/o. We have a whole ass routine planned out. If I can, bathe. If I cannot but still want to get one, he'll do the trick of like. Running the shower but I don't fully get in. Just to wash hair. Then, food and water. And meds ofc. Then rest. He has an entire case of water and snacks in our bedroom as well. Oh and he loans me his clothes. Oh and he makes sure I want his company before staying.

Dwight: He gets those like. Stress reliving oils that go in a humidifier for me? After making sure the scents are okay bc sometimes scents make migraines worse.

Liam’s pov, Robert xWillow + “Liam was the first to realizethat Willow had fallen out of love with him and in love with Robert.”, rating: g, words: 2,3k (ao3 link).

Despite allthe rumors, tabloid covers and pictures of the two of them together, Liamdidn’t believe it to be anything serious until they had publicly announcedtheir engagement. Nothing had seemed stranger than the idea of Robert andWillow together. And yet, here he was now, getting ready for their engagementparty. He sighed deeply in front of the mirror, adjusting his tie. He had triedto get out of it, but his mom had made clear his presence was mandatory. Thatand Cyrus had thought it would be better to appear united in front of thepublic, in the hopes Robert would relax and let his guard down when theyfinally decided to strike.

“Don’t youlook handsome,” Kathryn commented upon entering their room and breaking him outof his reverie. “Are you sure you want to go?” She asked more seriously, aworried frown coming over her face.

“According tomy mother, I don’t seem to have much of a choice.” He gave himself one lastlook in the mirror and turned towards her, “How are you doing? It must hurthearing all about his engagement on the news after the way he treated you.”

Kathrynnodded, casting her eyes down. “I wish I was over everything, you know? But Inever knew he could be so cruel…” She looked up and stared him in the eye.“Know what’s funny though? I feel more sorry for her than for me. It cannot beeasy being married to a man like that.”

Liam agreed,“No, it cannot be.” And, silently, he promised himself, I’m gonna do whatever it takes to stop Willow from making thismistake. “I should get going. Can’t be late for the big party.” He gave hera peck on the corner of the mouth, “Have a good night. I’ll be back soon.”

Eleanorcaught him at the entrance of the party before he had the chance to talk toanyone else.

“My, my,looks who is here. Mom was already having a fit, thinking you had bailed onus.”

“Believe itor not, I am well aware of my responsibilities.” Liam answered shortly, takinga glass of champagne from one of the waiters and drowning it at once.

“Hey. No needto get mad at me. I wouldn’t want to be here either.” She said, throwing abored look around the room, full of the finest, oldest and most boring membersof British aristocracy.

Liam lookedat her puzzled, “But I thought you liked Willow and were happy for them.”

Eleanor letout a non-committal noise that he had trouble interpreting. “I do likeWillow…or at least, I used to. But I can’t ignore the fact that less than sixmonths ago she was making moon eyes at my other brother…” she childishlypointed at Liam, as if he wouldn’t know she was talking about him, “and nowthat Robert is king, she is conveniently around and in love with him. Somethingseems fishy to me.”

Liam let outa chuckle, “you trying to imply Willow is a gold digger? Len, trust me, Willowis the last person who would marry Robert because of his title. She would beincapable of that. Besides, her and I, we never had anything.”

“But youdon’t deny she used to be in love with you. Maybe still is.” She addedperspicaciously and Liam remained silent. “I told him that, you know? Can youguess what he said?” Eleanor cleared her throat and attempted to imitateRobert’s voice, “I appreciate yourconcern for me, Eleanor, but I am marrying Wilhelmina anyway. That’s how hesaid it! Wilhelmina! Ugh, Robert can be such an annoying ass sometimes…” Seeingas Liam didn’t seem inclined to make any comment, she added in a more serioustone, “I don’t want you two involved with the same woman again. That never endswell.”

Liam sighed;taking another gulp from the champagne glass that had already been refilled byone of the staffs.

“Ugh, mom iscoming. It’s your turn to deal with her. Gotta go.”

“Liam! Finally!”His mom arrived just as Eleanor turned around the corner, making her quickexit. Queen Helena inspected his outfit from head to toe, giving a nod ofapproval and only then embracing him. “I feel like it’s been ages since youlast came home.”

Liam feltlike saying because of your dear KingRobert, but he held his tongue. It wouldn’t be good to start the nightarguing.

“Isn’teverything perfect? I have to admit, this engagement came as a total surprise.For a moment, I actually thought he was going to marry that commoner he wasseeing… A couple of dates, and the media were already calling her Cinderella.Ugh. No, Willow is a much more appropriate choice. Thank God he came to hissenses.”

Like always,his mom had the habit of pushing all his buttons. “Is it all that matters? Howappropriate she is? How about love?”

“Don’t benaive, Liam. A marriage can build or destroy a kingdom. You need someone whoknows the rules, who will stand beside you and act properly, as I did with yourfather. I wasn’t a perfect wife, I am well aware of that, but we had some goodyears together. And, more importantly, we were a team.”

“Anothermarriage of convenience. Perfect.” He commented bitterly.

“There isnothing wrong with that. You don’t understand it, but Willow and Robert do.They know what it takes to run an empire.” Helena let out a satisfied sigh. “Iknew it was the right move to hire her. Of course, back then I was hopping shewould help me make you king, but it all worked for the best, I suppose…” Shestopped for a moment, her eyes fixed at the distance and Liam followed her gazeto where a group man was cheering loudly at the bride, who had just come in.“Of course, nothing is perfect. We might have to do something about theseArgentinean relatives. Can you believe one of her uncles fought in theFalklands War?” Helena shuddered in horror. “And the other day, I heard hercall it the Malvinas instead of Falklands.”

“She wasraised in Argentina, so it’s a common mistake.”

“She will bethe next queen of England, she can’t make these type of mistakes. Who knows,she says something and we can have another war in our hands.”

Liam let outa chuckle of disbelief and Helena looked at him angrily. “Don’t believe me.Fine. I have to go and make sure we don’t have another international crisis.”

Jasperarrived next to talk to him.

“I thoughtyou would be all busy tonight taking care of the king’s security.” Liamcommented as a hello and Jasper rolled his eyes at him.

“The place issurrounded by agents and bodyguards. He is more protected than Fort Knox; trustme. Plus, his majesty is getting ready with the help of his best man. I figuredit would be better to leave them alone.”

Rememberingthe rocky - to say the least - history between Jasper and Beck, Liam wasinclined to agree that it had been the wisest decision. “Then stay with me.This whole engagement party feels like a bad dream I’m hoping to wake up fromat any moment.”

“Why? Becauseyou and her used to date?” Jasper asked curiously, waiting for his reaction.

Liam looked backat him startled. Jasper had been the second person tonight to treat him andWillow as an item and he felt a pang in his chest. He couldn’t deny they hadbeen something, or better put, the beginningof something between then. It could even have been great, if he had allowed itto. But, of course, Kathryn re-entered the picture and he had forgotten allabout Willow.

“We neverdated. Never even kissed.” Jasper raised one of eyebrows, skeptical, and Liamconfirmed. “I swear. Nothing happened.”

“That’sprobably for the best.”

“It was.” Heagreed half-heartedly, in a manner that didn’t even convince himself. “It justdoesn’t seem like Willow, you know? I never thought Robert could manipulate herlike that.”

“Is that whatyou think happened?”

“What do youthink?”

Jaspershrugged his shoulders. “She seems too smart to be manipulated.” He declared,just as Robert arrived and took Willow to the center of the room.

There werecheers and applauses as they made their way holding hands, and Liam couldn’thelp but notice they made a handsome couple, despite everything. Robert waiteduntil the noise died down and started his speech.

“My fiancéand I would like to thank you all for coming. And I know this might have seemsudden to some of you, but from the moment I met her and she sorted me intoGryffindor and told me she was a Ravenclaw, I knew she was the one.” Willow letout a small chuckle, Liam noticed, and it was clear there was more to the storythan what Robert was telling the audience, but she didn’t interrupted him. “Shewas more than I could ever hope for and I know that, as you get to know her asI do, you will fall in love with her as well.” He placed a kiss on top of herhand and the guests cheered again. “Enjoy the party, everyone!” He ended thespeech quickly, and him and Willow moved aside, talking to each other inwhispers.

She didn’tsay anything to the public and Liam found that odd. Had Robert already takencomplete control of her?

Jasper leftshortly after, saying he had to coordinate security and excusing himself. AndLiam was left alone to observe Robert and Willow as they made their way amongstthe guests together, complimenting everyone and thanking them for coming. Theyseemed very in tune with each other, smiling often, whispering in each other’sears and always touching. If it was all an act, like his mother and sistersupposed, it was a very good one. Liam, however, was beginning to have hisdoubts.

When theyfinally got close to where he was, Robert smartly made his way to another groupand Willow approached Liam alone.

She huggedhim quickly and Liam remembered how she had always been able to lift him upwith the smallest of gestures. There was just something about Willow that wasincredibly comforting, like coming back home.

He swallowedhard and tried to disperse these thoughts. “Hey, it’s good to see you.”

“I could saythe same!” She answered chirpily. “It’s been so long. Robert bet with me thatyou wouldn’t come, but I knew you would. I am so happy you came! He is too, inhis own way… He just…didn’t know if you would want to talk to him.” She addedin a low voice, making sure no one could over hear them.

“It’sprobably for the best if we talk later.” He agreed, relieved that he would beable to talk to Willow just the two of them, without his brother’s overbearingpresence. “I think congratulations are in order, even if…”

“Even if…?”

“Even if Ithink this is a bad idea.”

Willowsighed, exasperated. “Not again. I thought you coming here meant you were okaywith us getting married. But I guess it’s too much to ask for my friend to behappy for me.”

“It’s exactlybecause I am your friend that I can’t be happy with this! Can’t you see he isjust using you?”

“Using me?”

“He obviouslymanipulated you into this marriage.” At her angry face, Liam tried to appeaseher, “I know this is hard to hear, Willow, but Robert is not who you think heis.” He paused for a moment while she stared at him expectantly. “He could havecome home earlier, but he stayed on the island for months alone, if that’s evenwhere he was… There’s also Kathryn, he used her for months, lied to her, thenbroke up with her for no reason…”

She let out achuckle, stopping Liam’s speech. “Why don’t you try telling me something Idon’t know?”

“You mean…youknow about all of this? And you are still willing to marry him, why? Is it likemom said, just a marriage of convenience? Are you this crazy over power thatyou would do anything to be queen?”

Her eyeshardened and he immediately regretted his words. “You are lucky we are inpublic and I won’t cause a scandal by hitting you, even though it’s what youdeserve. And, no, it’s not an arranged marriage. But I’m not surprised thatyour mom thinks it is, Queen Helena wouldn’t understand a real marriage even if it hit her in the face.”

She lookedhim right in the eye and he considered exactly what she was (and wasn’t)saying. “Are you saying it’s a real marriage? That, what, you love him? Despiteeverything I just told you?”

“You wouldn’tunderstand what it’s like between us. There are no secrets. There is nothingyou could say that would make me change my mind.” She paused, turning to lookat Robert’s direction before adding, “And yes, I love him and he loves me. If youexcuse me, I need to go back to my fiancé.”

Liam watchedspeechless as Willow turned away from him and walked towards Robert. Her handtouched his arm and he immediately turned towards her. There must have beensomething on her face that showed how distressed she was by their talk, becausethe king quickly ended his conversation and took her aside. He saw as Robertcaressed her face gently and reached down to kiss her in the mouth. He noticedhow Willow relaxed in his presence, as if he had taken a load of her shoulders.And he couldn’t deny it anymore.

Despite whateveryone had said, it had been right in front of them all along, just waitingfor them to see, Willow loved Robert and his brother loved her as well.

It has been more than a year, but it seems to be so much longer. I miss you all with all of my heart. Although we didn’t always get along perfectly all the time, I will miss our adventures, our laughter, and our parties. We each had our own quirckyness to us, and together, we made up a class that of course had our downfalls, but for the most part, we were perfect together. Never before have I been able to say that each and every person from a group (especially this size) was like a sibling to me. Colossians 3:12-14 says “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”

Anna– I remember when I first came to Heritage in eighth grade, I often mixed you and Alexis up. It became quite clear all too soon which name you went with. You’re such a sweet, spunky, and funny, yet you are often mistaken for a quiet girl. “She’s a nice girl, someone I would like to be friends with if I knew how.” ― Rebecca Starford. I always knew from the start that I wanted to be friends with you, but, being the socially awkward bee that I am, I waited until senior year to really get to know you, which was a huge mistake! 😦 I love you very much, Anna Banana. Isaiah 41:10 says “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Bryce– Seeing you and Bryant interact was always one of my favorite things. You two were my favorite bromance (closely followed by Donny and Andre). I love how you were, and continue to be, consistent in the Lord. I see that in your life; keep it up. Carl W. Buechner said “They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” In times where you don’t know what to say to someone, remember to treat them with love. I’m going to leave you with Psalm 120:1, which says “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me.” #AllGloryToGod

Caleb– If I were to be asked to describe you in one word, I don’t think I would be able to. Multiple words come to mind when I think of you. Spunk, personality, and humor are just a few of the many. “Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.” Oprah Winfrey. You would defiantly take the bus with any of your friends. Keep that up. “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Donny– “He never, even in the most casual conversation with friends, spoke a sentence which did not sound as if it was ready for the air.” ― David Halberstam. It’s true. You always seem to say the right thing at the right time with confidence. Whether that be a witty remark or a kind word, you always seemed to know what others wanted or needed to hear. You are quite hilarious with your long, lanky self. I will miss you and your bromance with Andre. Exodus 15:2 says “The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” Your voice is amazing. I always loved it when you would randomly burst into song with others.

Bryant– Preeti Shenoy once said “I was thankful for tiny blessings that came in the form of friends.” I could not agree more. I knew you to be loyal. Your relationship with any of your friends can and will prove that. Keep it up, and never lose sight of God’s plans for you, because with God, you will go so much farther than you could ever have gone without him. Remember what Isaiah 40:29 says: “He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.” Life will have ups and downs, and I have full confidence that you will only look to God for your strength. #AllGloryToGod

Samwise– Sam, Sam, Sam. “I know what it’s like not to have friends. People need friends. Life’s not much fun without them.” ― Michelle Harrison. One of four, you are. I will always remember doing backstage with you and Rach. Watching our fourth out on the stage, I remember we would be able to recite lines and songs along with Ryan. 10, 20, and 30+ minute almost silent intervals split by 30 seconds of hectic craziness was always so much fun. I remember sophomore year we were stage crew for Tom Sawyer. At one point, Ryan, who was Injun Joe, had to fall off the dock (which was part of the cave *wink wink*). We had to have the blue mats down and be there for him when he fell. During one of the rehearsals, he fell and we were both sitting there looking at him. After he was done “yelling”, he looked up at us, started laughing and said “…..Ow?” This was all on stage left……….we were stage right, so we had to book it back to stage right. Hopefully you never forget that you have your friends when you go through something hard. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” God has you in the palm of His hand.

Matt– Ahhh Macbeth. The late night of scurring around, filming, and putting everything together and Biggby the next day was what some might call “fun” (please pick up on the partial sarcasm). Our group was great, though. I remember we showed up at Ryan’s house while he was still at basketball practice. Listening to Brother Bear in your car with Hope was pretty awesome. 😛 Even though that last night was hectic to say the least, I will always look back on that project with fondness. Deuteronomy 31:6 says “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” You are an amazing speaker. I hope you know that. Remember that Sunday on the senior trip when Anna and Gavin got lost? Yeah, you spoke that night, and I recorded you. I still have that voice recording. You would be an amazing pastor.

Hopey– “If you’re alone, I’ll be your shadow. If you want to cry, I’ll be your shoulder. If you want a hug, I’ll be your pillow. If you need to be happy, I’ll be your smile… But anytime you need a friend, I’ll just be me.”- Unknown. This quote is so YOU, my dear Hope. It wasn’t really acting for you when you played the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, which is a good thing. You are witty, smart, and such a sweetie. I love how you are so close with God. I totally see God through your joy-filled life. Remember that God is always with you, my Moriarty. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

Kowalski– Your friendship is treasured by all who has possession of it. I love your sense of humor and all of your witty comments. Know that you have a rearview mirror in life for a reason. Remember your time at Heritage and never give up on your friends that you made their. Helen Keller once said “Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light.” I hope you remember that when life gets dark. “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. Let’s continue to make good memories together, huh?

Hannah– “What goes best with a cup of coffee? Another cup.” – Henry Rollins. Often that other cup comes with a friend. I loved hearing about all your coffee trips with Gabi and them. You’re such a sweet girl, and I love you so much. I sorely wish I had gotten to now you better than I had. You always seemed to have your life together. I miss seeing how close you and your friends were. Hopefully you guys stay that close, and even grow closer in the Lord. Psalm 29:11 says “The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.” Remember to lean on Him for your strength, Hannah! ♥

Nia– Oh Nia. Where do I start? You and your loud sneezes. 🙂 We always noticed when you were and weren’t in class. English with Mickley was always fun with you around. You knew what you wanted. Others did too. “Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my friend.” – Albert Camus. We wouldn’t walk in front of you. We wouldn’t dare. 😉 If anything, you were walking in front of us. I love and miss you, Nia Moore. Romans 8:24-25 says “For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” My prayer for you is that you will never forget who you are living your life for.

If you had been at Heritage for senior year, you probably would have gotten Class Clown for mock elections. I remember one time in eighth grade, Mrs. Thompson made a bet with you. If you made it though the whole day without talking, she would have owed you $2. (That much, right?) You made it to lunch. What had started it was that during her class, the rest of us claimed that we were acting up because you started the whole shenanigans, and she wanted to test this theory out. We were right. 🙂 I will leave you with John 16:22, which reads, “So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.”

Andre– Henry David Thoreau once said that “the language of friendship is not words but meanings.” From the first time I met you just before senior year started to the times I see you at KVCC, I knew and continue to know that you are quite real. Even if you are just hiding behind something, which I doubt you are, I instantly knew you were made of friendship material. You have a warm, welcoming aura that you give off. Never let that light die, Andre. “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:1

Riley– I hope you know that we all were there for you during your sickness, and still are. I love how strong you were through it. I heard you are playing baseball for KVCC either now, in the past, or in the spring. I’m glad to hear that you are able to do the sport you love. Shumila Shah said “Coal that bears that pressure meets a diamond.” It has been good to see you come out of everything with God’s strength. I’m sure any one of us would be willing to help if you ever needed anything. “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.“ 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10
