Young Asriel x Marisa > Based on the fic Trials (and errors) by @freuleinanna
[Exiled from the public's eye, young Marisa Coulter is preparing to go and stand trial for adultery. On the other side of Oxford, young lord Asriel Belacqua is preparing to go and stand trial for murder.
A lot has been said about how 'as soon as they met, they fell in love'. That is exactly what made the rest of it so hard.]

Snakes on a post
Another particularly long answer dump since i, once again, have a backlog of things to potentially answer |D
❗️For commonly asked qs please see my BTD FAQ
Tumblr media
Got jumpscared with my own old art for a hot minute there LAUGHS.
Tumblr media
(For those wondering, the naga doodle from here was attached to the ask)
Tumblr media
That is every other Royal that exists in the Nether and also at least some of the demons that challenged him for his Royal title lol.
Tumblr media
Believe me, no one was or is more surprised then me XD;
Tumblr media
So, the thing about where Rire's ichor manifests is that it kinda exists and doesn't exist at the same time. Meaning that his upper back is where the manifestation point is anchored, BUT it can still manifest with a bit of space in between it and his back hence why it will manifest over his clothes and not through them.
So if you touch where the manifestation point is sans the ichor, than you are just straight up touching his back. With the ichor, he still gets sensory input from the tentacles to his back but it's a lot more soft and muted esp the further away it gets from him. As you've seen implied though, he would feel a very sharp pain if a great deal of damage was done to the ichor where it clusters at the manifestation point, since he'd DEF be feeling that straight in his back lol.
Tumblr media
He is definitely a top and the only way he would bottom for anybody is if they somehow forced him to.
Tumblr media
Ah i knew i'd answered this a long time ago [finally found it]! Holy crosses (those that have been blessed) can also burn him but they would need to be in contact with him the entire time. Being a Royal he also has more of a tolerance to these than normal demons.
Tumblr media
Well, unless said person actually has the undeniable ability to make good on their words, Rire would just stand there rather genially with that little smile he sometimes has and let them finish.
And then he might use them as reverse suggestions for dealing with said person (why would you give him any ideas!!?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
both
Tumblr media
In BTD canon it is quite possible that they actually haven't in person. But we are using creative license here haha.
Tumblr media
Rire heals a lot faster than a human. Cain is not my character so I don't know how his stacks up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've grouped these asks cos they kind of have similar answers - 360° (jk sorry sorry to the second q that is just a very common spelling mistake and I couldn't resist XD; )
Now, even though we mashed all the characs together in BTD, they all actually come from different storylines and so their canons outside the "BTD canon" may differ. This tends to bleed in. With this in mind:
The rules of Rire's canon (eg the concept of Battle Royales and how to become a Royal) don't apply to Cain. Anyway, they don't live in the same place either.
Cain is canonically the oldest and most OP character in BTD lol so yes he is stronger than Rire - you might've noticed, but Rire is never in the same drawing as Cain voluntarily. I play with this along with the "natural weakness" aspect - which I've also referred to as scissors-paper-rock rules XD Basically; demons beat humans, angels beat demons (purely because demons have weakness against holiness).
Tumblr media
It would (be insane) but I hope you are not looking at me to fulfil this :d
Tumblr media
Not really
Tumblr media
His coronation day is a public holiday in his sector so yes XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aww thank you very much for your interest! ≧(´▽`)≦ It's really cool that some of you guys want to actually fund such a thing - I'd have thought you'd have enough of him killing you in BTD1 XD Unfortunately, I have no plans for a Rire game at the moment as I'm working on a webcomic which looks like it will take up all my free time (that being said, he will be in the webcomic at some point).
Tumblr media
Nope! Although i can kinda see why you might think that lol.
Tumblr media
Whatever that one is where he doesn't particularly care what someone else identifies as. It really makes no difference to him or how he will act.
Tumblr media
There are viruses in the Nether that if contracted could potentially kill you, yes. Part of being a Royal is becoming a lot more robust than normal Demons though. As for if/when Rire dies, I dunno maybe either in a Battle Royale somewhere thousands of years down the line or by old age (which is rare for a Royal but not impossible if you play your cards right).
Tumblr media
If you are asking if he has a heat/rut of some sort, he does not |D

"Thigh lover"— Dazai Osamu
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Dazai always loved your thighs, especially when they're in thigh highs. Whenever they are, he either goes on town on you or fucks the living daylights out of you, this time though it was neither but also everything of the above."
Tags: sub! Dazai Osamu / afab! Reader, face sitting, pet names, bratty? Dazai, pw/op, oral sex, slightly mean! Reader, edging???, pussydrunk! Dazai, squirting, degrading kink, everything is consented, overstimulation?, thigh fucking, Reader is thicc, he's whiny ong, idrk what I'm doing (again), ooc! Dazai, might contain grammar errors, rushed, short?, etc.
Notes: howdy, tryin' to keep up rn
Tumblr media
All because he acted out, once again being bratty and annoying. So what's better than punishment? A punishment, which also could make you feel good. Then the perfect idea came up in your head. In this moment, Dazai's lips were making out with your cunt, while you were enjoying yourself. How is that an punishment, you ask? Well, he's not allowed to touch himself while he's eating you out, if he tries then—
"Mph—", you slightly closed your thighs together so his face would be squished. "I said no touching, did i?", you asked coldly, Dazai was only able to try to continue to eat you out, even though he couldn't since you closed your legs. "Don't make me repeat myself, brat.", you hissed at him pissed, your voice raspy at that, which made it harder to resist. ". . Yes,", he said muffled, you start to slightly smirk again. "Try to be good for once, dear, then maybe you could get what you want.", you stated, releasing Dazai from your grip. He almost immediately started getting back to where he was cut off. You grabbed his hair as he grabbed your thighs, holding onto them. He could tell that you were getting close, since he was good at it. Soon, it washed over you and you gushed onto his face, Dazai could've cum just then and there but he didn't.
As you came down from your first orgasm, Dazai spoke up. "Did I do good?", he asked while looking at you. You looked back at him smirked lightly. "Well, you did, but I don't think you really learned your lesson. .", he pouted at you, and you tried to think of something, because you couldn't stop there. Then another solution popped up. "If you wanna cum so bad, then fuck my thighs, baby.", Dazai's eyes lit up, he was willing to do anything to cum at least once. You got down from his face and sat down on the bed, while Dazai was unbuckling his belt. As you glanced at his boxers, you could see that he was leaking, look at how desperate he is! Parting your thighs a little so he had some space to slide into, he almost instantly slide in and you closed them together. Dazai bit his lip when he started to fuck your thighs, sliding in and out of them, already heavy breathing. "Feels good, doesn't it, slut?", Dazai nodded quickly while he soon to whimper quietly.
Dazai was slowly getting closer to his climax, his whimpers and whines getting louder. You had to admit, looking at him while he's so pathetically desperate had you dripping. But, you still didn't have any plans to have him cum, where's the fun in that? "Pleasepleaseplease—", he choked, you could feel him leaking more than before, meaning he was close to cumming, so parted your thighs for him to stop but also lose his orgasm. Dazai whined at this move of yours. "But I–i thought. . You said I could cum!", he whined, you looked at him rather cold again. "I didn't say it like that, besides, even if I said so I still didn't get an apology, 'Samu.", you corrected him, he was getting really frustrated with this. "Sorry.", he whispered quickly, did he think this was enough? "You can do better than this, can you? If you apologize to me and mean it, you can fuck me, alright? You know what I wanna hear, dear.", Dazai was ready to apologize genuinely just to feel your perfect cunt again, even the thought made his dick twitch.
Dazai looked down while starting off with his apology, starting to almost beg to feel your walls around him. "I'm s–sorry for acting out, I really didn't mean to annoy you. . Please, can you make me cum? I swear I'll be good f'you.", he said with a whiny tone, you smirked at him again and grabbed his chin to make him look at you. "You mean it, baby?", you cooed quite mockingly, he nodded. "Yes, please, need you so bad.", he was lowkey cute like this, so you accepted it, besides, you wanted to feel him inside you now. "Okay, if you really mean it, then I'll forgive you. You have my permission now.", you stated, Dazai's eyes lit up again, excitement visible within his eyes. You spread your legs enough for him, your pussy already wet enough for him to slide in, he could've sworn that he wanted to just cum of the sight. Dazai entered and already came right inside you, you let out a quiet moan of surprise. He already started to thrust now, he wasn't slow but also not rough, just somewhere in between.
It felt so good you could've sworn that you almost wanted to cum at this moment, but you tried to stay dominant. You tried really hard, but Dazai lifted your leg to reach deeper inside, whenever he pulled that trick you were a moaning mess. As his hips slapped against yours, the sound filling your bedroom, you were starting to lose control and started to moan with him. Then you felt your second orgasm near, when it washed over you Dazai came again stopping for a moment. You tried to catch your breath, but Dazai started to thrust again, trying to chase another orgasm. Dazai's face starting to get sweaty, his face flushed and slutty moans and whimpers leaving both of your lips. "F–fuck, Dazai. . Slow down—", your pleas fell on deaf ears, he was only able to fuck and pant heavily. Your legs were lifted again, Dazai placed on his hips to reach deeper inside you, which made you almost gush around his cock again. How did he manage to make this sensitive this quick? "Ah! D–dazai. .", you moaned, trying to calm him down but he was in a trance, he was pussydrunk now.
It was incredible, so much that you were nearing your third, but this one was feeling kind of weird. Dazai kept on thrusting inside you, already reaching to your clit to make you cum faster, which definitely did. When he trusted once more, you felt it coming, intense. "D–dazai, I'm close—" was the last thing you said before you squirted all over him, your juices gushing around him too. Open seeing this, Dazai moaned one last time before cumming inside you, twitching insanely a lot. You were out of breath and so was Dazai, he pulled out and your mixed juices leaked out of your cunt. He laid beside you, you moved over to him and got closer.
"This. . Was something else, 'donna."

Yooo I just had a thought, like in minecraft you can make golden apples right that levels up your health and gives you strength (enhances strength) lV, Absorption (absorbs attacks) lV, Regeneration (heals you if you get damage) ll, Fire resistance, basically your OP asf so I want headcanons on Reader (They aren't together they are actually in serious fight because reader is going to steal there loot) who has the ability of minecraft mechanics and just Ate an enchanted golden apple and defeated them, succesfully taking the loot from Dream and Nightmare (Imagine the confusion and horror thinking Reader took the apple from the tree of feelings or found the positivity apple) sorry if this is too long.
i feel like i made this too short 😞
not often do the two brothers team up to fight a greater evil
...especially because there isn't really a "greater evil". grimm's about as bad as you can get
the two brothers were originally fighting each OTHER over this loot, until a third party (you) tried to swipe it out from under their metaphorical noses.
you were just a human. it should be easy to get it back from you. right?
wrong.
when the two had first caught sight of the small golden-coloured apple in your hand, they both froze
there shouldn't BE any more of the positivity apples. grimm ate all but one however long ago, and the remaining apple turned into sunny's soul.
suddenly, the loot became a lot less valuable to them. capturing you was a LOT more important.
you were like a fish, slipping right through their fingers. restraining you didn't seem to work, so beating the shit out of you would have to, right?
their hits didn't seem to effect you as they would a normal human, the first few not even seeming to be hurting you at all, and then damages being lessened
then, when your hp ticked down low enough, you'd pull out another apple to eat it.
how many did you have??? they couldn't be the old apples from the tree, could they?
short answer, no. but they don't know that. and they'll never find out. you somehow, by god's miracle, escape them and they can't for the lives of them find you
they're gonna be looking for you for a long time. have fun :]
were either to catch you unawares, you'd be almost forced to tell them how you'd gotten the apples (grimm'd be a lot more... mean about it, so to say)
maybe you'll make a new friend! grimm would only be using you to get the apples to beat his brother. sunny just doesn't want his brother to get his hands on you.
... that doesn't mean you're safe. the opposing brother will do anything to get you on their side, even if they have to resort to hurting you. as long as you're not dead,,, although maybe that'd be better for your sake.

What are your favorite non-LM Montgomery stories/fandoms (if you feel like sharing)?
This question sent me wandering down a memory lane! It's actually rare for me to participate in fandoms online, although I'll gobble up funny tumblr posts and fics if a particular story latches onto my brain--star wars is really the only other one I'm active, even if that is primarily just writing fic. I think the only other fandoms I've ever gotten really into are Star Wars and Merlin. Between those two, Merlin definitely is the favorite although Star Wars is probably my favorite story. Sorry to the Star Wars fandom, but there's this weird sense of entitlement I've observed (that's present in any fandom to a degree tbf) about how everyone should interpret the characters op's way or they're basic, and that x opinion is not only bad, it's also immoral. Given how big the fandom is and how there usually isn't one dominant opinion but rather factions, the resulting (and usually hypocritical) squabbling disinterests me. I don't want to feel like I have to have a 'star wars political party' to engage with other blogs haha ("oh i'm dni about this ship but pro jedi" etc etc), especially as I'm the sort of person who will explore different interpretations for fun. That's partly why I have loved my LMM peeps so much, because even where there's disagreement, it's usually civil and more importantly, fun :D
anyhow, now that I've gone completely off track haha and told you about my NONfavorite fandoms, I'll sheepishly actually answer your question. I really loved Merlin when I watched it, because I love me some non-gritty fantasy with a sense of humor and a "chosen one" storyline. I have spent many a glorious hour reading fic where Merlin reveals his magic (ah! the catharsis!) and will probably spend many more. In a similar ilk, I've always had a soft spot for Spider-Man in my heart, specifically the older and crankier teacher Peter Parker version from the comics because he's the Ideal. Both of these are further back on the memory lane (more of high school batrachised than Charlotte lucas period of my life batrachised), but they are still near and dear in my heart.
Now in terms of my favorite stories, for THIS question I had to pull out that bad boy, the bulleted list!! (😱) I generally prefer children's fiction to YA nowadays because I like stories that have something to say, and while there are certainly YA books that fill that gap (I'm about to list several! and btw i'd definitely include THG in that), the expectations for children's novels are such that there is usually a "moral," while a good chunk of YA seems to be more "hot people kissing" and a lot of adult fiction is just dreary to me. I don't really participate in the fandoms for any of these below because first of all, they don't exist lmao, but also I didn't feel the need to change or add anything to the story.
Ella Enchanted. I love Gail Carson Levine's fairytales, and Ella is a refreshing and unique idea. When I say I love fantasy stories, what I really mean is that I love Ella Enchanted. I love how Char and her are friends first, and the scene at the end where she [censored for spoilers] and so gets her happily ever after still influences my writing today.
A Monster Calls. Weeping, on the floor, every time I read it it destroys me. I love its gentleness towards grief, and I love its brutal honesty. I also love its recognition of the power of a story. Sometimes I see (and say myself!) "It's just a story," but stories are powerful and should be treated as such. They aren't worth more than people, but they can teach you much people are worth.
Strange the Dreamer. This novel was gorgeously well-written, and its main character is an absent minded librarian who goes on an adventure--how could anyone resist! I remember recommending it to someone and they stayed up very late to finish it haha, they couldn't put it down. It's too wonderful.
Frog and Toad. Yes, they're picture books, And what about it !!? These picture books are cozy and well-written and have more to say than many a long novel I've read. Plus my blog name and brand require inclusion of a toad related bullet.
The Power and the Glory: I just wrote a post about this one, but anything by Graham Greene always makes me stare at the wall afterwards questioning my life. Funnily enough, this is dreary like the other adult fiction I dismissed, but although it's a hopeless situation with hopeless characters, Graham Greene's writing is strong enough this to have become one of my favorite books. Normally after I read fiction like that, I just feel depressed. This book, while dreary, was thought provoking.
A Canticle for Leibowitz. A post apocalyptic novel...that's not about fighting zombies or a book version of an action movie, but about monks. I know that's a complete reduction of the plot, but the idea of a post-nuclear world from the perspective of monks was such a unique idea, it grabbed my brain and didn't let go.
A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking. I love all of Ursula Vernon's work for her sense of humor. They're always very well written and I nod along to myself at different points thinking "correct," as the narrator discusses how true love is spending time debating your favorite type of cheese, or how baking so wonderful because you put in all that effort and have chocolate chip cookies at the end to show for it.
Holes. This book not only ties every plot thread together satisfactorily, it does it with a bow, it's that well done. This was my favorite book as a child and has stood the test of time because it's still one of my favorite books as an adult.
Up a Road Slowly. Of all the books on this list, this is the most LMM similar. It definitely is sexist, I'll warn, but the characterization can be incredible. The uncle stays with me as a remarkably complex but well written character.
Heart's Blood. The best Beauty and the Beast version, full stop, thank u very much !! In general Juliet Marillier is one of my favorite fantasy authors.
Calvin and Hobbes. there's really nothing to say here other than it's perfect haha.
A Deadly Education. A take on the magical school--that's dark and intriguing. What if Hogwarts was trying to kill you? i never got into harry potter myself because I read the books when I was slightly too old for them, so this was one of the first "magical school" books I read that captivated my imagination.
James Herriot. I love the old tv show (haven't seen the new one), but i love the books more. Siegfried and Tristan are hilarious, and James Herriot is similar to LMM in that he takes a simple and ordinary setting and bestows it with magic through his writing.
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith novelization. "Puh-lease," you might be thinking, a movie novelization? Listen to me. Listen. I went through a period in my life where I'd casually read movie novelizations for the fun extra scraps of details. Normally, I'd idly flip my way through and be like eh that was okay, it's a novelization so whatever. I picked this up, and was left being like like what the actual fuck did I just read. This novel is incredible. It's so good that it changed my tepid feelings on the movie and prequels to "ROTS is now one of my favorite stories." I finished that book thinking "where was this movie??" I don't know what Matthew Stover was on when he wrote this, but it singlehandedly redeemed the prequels for me.
Other non book ones: i love the LOTR movies (and books but I don't reread them often), the narnia movies, Stand by Me, the secret life of walter mitty, the prince of egypt, greta gerwig's little women (sobbing. on the floor.). and v for vendetta. I also love New Girl because Nick Miller. In general, same with books, my favorite movies tend to demonstrate a distinct moral imagination and grit rather than just focusing on the journey of a character's emotional health. (ergo, I find prince of egypt much more interesting than turning red, although turning red was a good movie!)
There's also Dear Enemy from Jean Webster (aka the author of daddy long legs) bc her work is also similar to LMM, buuuut it literally and explicitly supports eugenics (a character will occasionally and casually say "we need to let those irish die for the good of society") sooo if you choose to read, know that that's in there depending on your comfort level with gross historical period conventions. (the goodreads reviews are kind of funny because people are like well I liked the story but, um,)
thank you for this ask and your patience with my meandering response!! it was a lot of fun to think of "hmm, what have I stayed up to 3AM reading fanfic for in the past," and you're tempting me to revisit some of these stories :D

Hello again.
Sorry to bother you with this topic again, but i reread the 11-part long fates criticism post on reddit, and found so much shit wrong with those posts i could no longer resist the temptation to write a counter-essay pointing out everything wrong with it and posting it to the fe subreddit (rip what little karma i had).
I'm in the middle of writing it now, and one of the parts i'm having issues with is the last one, where OP claims the themes of the game to be family, war being bad, and finding the truth, and giving reasons as to why the themes are poorly done (family is bad because BR doesn't explore Corrin's relationship with the Hoshidan sibs enough, war bad is poorly done and SOMEHOW also somewhat pro-war due to Hoshido's moral superiority over Nohr and Corrin being "absolved of any and all wrongdoing during CQ", and finding truth being bad due to Azura knowing the truth all along).
As expected, i have a LOT to say about those arguments, especially the second one, but i also want to add a little extra to the essay by pointing out what the actual themes of the game are and doing so with evidence from the plots of each route (no supports or other such side material unfortunately, he barely touches on those in the other posts and i don't think it'd be fair of me to use that as evidence when he doesn't bring it up himself in the segment i'm talking about).
Issue is, i kinda suck at thematic analysis and don't truly know what the themes of the game are, even after looking through the scripts of the routes again.
Which is why i wanted to ask you: what would you say the main thene of each route and/or the game as a whole is, and could you give examples of them being estabilished/developed throughout the plot(s)?
I know this is a complicated question, and i'm completely fine with it if you don't feel like answering, especially since my main point will be dissecting why his arguments are bad, with the thematic analysis being more of a bonus.
So anyway, I started writing and I couldn't stop, sooooo... yeah. I hope you don’t mind me posting this public, because I wanted to share my brain mumbo jumbo with others too haha. Thanks for the ask! And feel free to take from this what you will, it's not like I'm going back to Reddit, I hate it there lol.
For starters, all of what I've written under the cut isn't me trying to say that the topics that the OP of that thread aren't major pieces in Fates' story, but... ehhhh. The family aspect is definitely prominent, but I wouldn't say its a theme per se. It's more a tool to drive the dramatic and tragic moments of the plot. Theoretically, you could replace the sibling aspect with "really cool childhood friends" and you wouldn't lose a thing if it was written well enough. The royals being Corrin's siblings just takes less work, because family dynamics are more readily and easily understood (even when they're dysfunctional) with comparably minimal explanation.
'War Is Bad' isn't a theme either IMO, cuz objectively there's positives to come out of warfare for both Nohr (resources) and Hoshido (defense against attacks so they don't have to step out of their isolationist bubble). It's really only Corrin and the litte sisters who push that aesop, but that's because it's part of their characters. Truth seeking is also not a theme in my eyes, it's more a catalyst for things to happen. Like the OP said, Azura has all the answers so finding the truth is a pretty shitty theme. But in that case, why not work backwards? If Truth Seeking doesn't work as a theme, consider then if it's even meant to be a major theme at all. That's what I did, and it led to me to think, no, not really. Azura exposits the truth because it's another way she supports the leader, Corrin, and it helps him and the story at large develop the actual themes meant to be conveyed.
But anyway, back to the topic at hand.
Using He/Him for Corrin, the rest is under the cut!
For Birthright, I'd say the big theme of that route is "Trust and Belief in your allies/friends". From the start, Corrin's trust and faith in people gets tested: Does he believe Silas' words when he says they were childhood friends? He chooses to do so, and it works out. Yay!
From then on though, that faith is shaken with what happens with Zola. True, Corrin's words and actions did shake Zola's core a bit given his words to Garon, but he still betrayed the party and ruined Corrin's plans to end the war early.
This theme is given the spotlight later during the Ice Tribe chapter, during Ryoma's talk with Corrin about it. This hardens Corrin's resolve in choosing not to doubt his friends anymore, leaning into his strength rather than worrying about the risks all the time. This initially burns him with Flora, but it helps win the day with Takumi getting over his possession.
Being more broad, you could put it under a general "The Value of Human Relationships" as well, in order to include the copious moments where Azura's connection and companionship with Corrin takes the spotlight when discussing her powers and the dangers that come with overusing them. This can also include the tragic aspect of Birthright, where the Nohrian siblings' family dynamic is ruined because of Corrin's choice, something that Birthright's story hammers in a lot, especially in regards to Elise; the value of the relationships that Corrin had with the Nohr royals is sullied, pushed into a place of destruction, culminating with Camilla outright saying in BR's epilogue-in the JP version at least-that her feelings towards Corrin and his actions are mixed.
For Conquest, I'd say the main themes are "Where Justice Lies" and "Moral Convictions".
Corrin has a clear and well established moral compass: he fights if necessary, but will always, always do his utmost to find an alternative to war and killing. Can he disarm them? Can things be talked out? Can he deceive ally and foe alike?
This compass gets put to the test during this route. Quelling the Ice Tribe rebellion his own way works out, but fighting against the Hoshidan soldiers and royal family puts him on edge. He can avoid death and conflict to the best of his ability during the Sanctuary and Macarath battles, but innocent lives are put in danger in Nestra, and despite Leo's efforts, Corrin is still uneasy.
Hence the moral question Corrin offers himself during chapter 15: Should he have not joined Nohr, considering all the pain he is enabling by doing so?
Learning the truth that Azura reveals drives the point home further: Corrin now has knowledge of this demon infesting Garon, that's causing all of this wanton destruction. And yet, he does not have the power to rebel. As the story goes on, he no longer has the option to mitigate damage as much as he wants to, either. Is the justice he's fighting for-expunging the demon he now knows of-worth the sacrifice of another kingdom's peace? Corrin even breaks down over this dilemma eating away at him during the Wind Tribe chapter, where he is overcome with emotion at the thought of being seen as a worthy hero despite his actions.
(Fighting for his own justice also relates to Xander, a character who initially thinks justice is a fairy tail nonindicative of the real world, but later comes to terms with being a king who maintains the justice he believes in. I can't talk about Conquest's themes without mentioning Xander heheh.)
For Revelation, I wish I had better words to describe it, but something along the lines of "Be who you are/be true to yourself."
Rev in itself deals a lot with Corrin's personal growth as the definitive leader of the campaign (as opposed to BR or CQ where he's kind of joint-leaders with Ryoma or Xander, respectively) This growth has to deal with being his authentic self, relying on his strengths, cementing his convictions, not putting himself down or giving up.
The branch of fate kind of does this in a very neat meta way, IMO. Corrin can't betray his convictions to side with one family against the other, and seeks to solve things without conflict. While Xander and Ryoma scoff at this and proceed to fight anyway, notice how they only target each other and not Corrin. This is because Corrin remains true to himself by choosing diplomacy first.
However, Corrin then steps out of his realm of expertise. Sure, he's an objectively talented fighter, but he's still inexperienced and doesn't like warfare in general. By taking Azura's advice and trying to attract Ryoma and Xander's attention by taking out their subcommanders, instead of getting the result he wanted, Corrin instead earns the ire of his elder brothers. (As an aside, this also goes to provide an in story example of why Azura isn't a leader type, something she herself says later on. Her calculated strategies don't take into account the emotional aspect of conflict, which fits into her established character of being standoffish and stoic. She's meant to be a supporter, both in-game and in-story.)
What do Ryoma and Xander say of Corrin after he does this? They declare him a traitor, hellbent on being an enemy of both kingdoms. They can't understand why Corrin would attack them like that, and are so incensed by Corrin presumably doing such a 180 on his character that they think malicious madness is the only cause.
It's why it's not Corrin's martial prowess that gets Ryoma and Xander to stop fighting in chapter 13 (you're very much encouraged NOT to fight them given how damn busted their stats are, after all). It's Azura's song and Corrin's words that calm the brothers down and have them begin to realize that Corrin means what he says and is the same brother they know and love. (Something that the other siblings-Sakura, Camilla, and Elise especially-say in very similar terms!!!) Azura creates opportunity for peace through revealing truth and her song, not her leadership. Corrin uses said opportunity to spread his cry for peace and unity, because they are a leader whose strengths lie in believing in people and relying on his friends.
This all comes to a head during the the times when Corrin tries to take all the responsibility unto himself, putting his life at risk in doing so. He attempts to tell the party of Valla because he himself still doesn't believe in his strength as a leader, and tries to pass off the role to Ryoma and Xander. The brothers reject this idea, because it was Corrin's leadership, not theirs, that brought the party together. This comes up again with the Anthony debacle, where Corrin again tries the same thing-taking all the problems onto himself-and has to get the point definitively hammered into him: Your biggest weakness is also your greatest strength. Be true to yourself, and we'll always support you in times of need.
Corrin developing like this makes them the leader that he always was, he just didn't know it until then. It's why as time goes on, I have less of a problem with Corrin leading Valla, because thematically? It works! He pushed back against the cycle of warfare that Nohr and Hoshido-and his families by extension-offered him, and ended it by being true to his moral convictions (like Conquest) and relying on his strengths, that being believing in people (like Birthright). Corrin proves that he's a leader capable of leading Valla out of its ruined state, with the help from his brothers that he'll never shy away from asking for again.
Sorry again if this was a lot, Fates just brings out the analyst in me haha.

I've been thinking about Punzel verse a lot recently and it makes me feel like a failure of a fan or I'm not appreciating the spirit of the story in the right way, but I just can't forgive Tristan. It's distracting, esp in timestamps where he appears, but I don't think there's any excuse for how he treated Jared and I feel he def doesn't deserve to be a part of Jared's chosen family. I understand he's changed and he's trying, but I just can't do it. I'm nowhere near as good a person as Jared.
Hi anon!
I'm so glad to read that you've been thinking about this verse! You are totally not a failure of a fan, my dear.
Sorry this took me a while to get to, I wanted to really sit down with your ask.
I can definitely see how it would be distracting in the timestamps. When I started to write Tristan's extended arc in the timestamps, I really went back and forth on if he was redeemable or not. I have that same problem right now with Donna in Photo Op verse.
It's tough weighing that kind of stuff. Ultimately, I just wanted to give Jared a huge challenge. Could he work through what happened? Could he accept his brother as a new person, not the old person he was? And I wanted to explore Tristan more as a character. What motivated him to treat Jared so badly? What motivated him to change? What had to fall into place for him to change and be a better person? How will he benefit Jared in the future?
There were lots of questions with Tristan involved and I just couldn't resist raising/answering them.
I hope you give Punzel Verse a shot moving forward, but totally understand if you can't. Jared gave Tristan another chance for a variety of reasons. Sometimes we have to take a leap of faith in other people, even if they've hurt us before. But Jared was super clear about his boundaries before he let Tristan back in and that made me feel a lot better. Plus, Jared himself is different this time around. He's stronger, has more resources, and isn't afraid to kick someone out of his life for good if they don't respect him or his family.
So I suppose inviting Tristan back into the narrative is also a way of trusting Jared to make the right decision. Hmm. I never thought of it that way before, anon. You gave me so many good things to think about. Thank you so much. I hope you have a lovely day.

Song challenge
Tagged by @raven-of-domain-kwaad and @inventedbyawriter, thank you :)
RULES: Make a new post and spell out your URL with song titles then tag as many people as there are letters in your URL.
I'm super weird when it comes to music (most of the songs I have are popular or super basic, I have more appreciation for soundtracks and classical), but let's see if I have enough to spell my url.
(while I was scrolling through songs I asked myself why my url doesn't have any W or B bc I have several cool songs with W and B)
Not tagging this time (again) bc I can't think of 21 people to tag (also bc I'm tired. 2 am is perfect time to post on tumblr you see), sorry.
A - Another One Bites The Dust (Queen)
M - My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Fall Out Boy)
A - Africa (Toto)
S - Sonne (Rammstein)
T - Take Me To Church (Hozier)
E - Everybody's Fool (Evanescence) (even though it was used by the one who tagged me)
R - Rain (Grandson ft. Jessie Reyez)
P - Play The Game (Queen)
R - Rebirthing (Skilet)
O - Out of Hell (Skillet)
C - Carry On My Wayward Son (Kansas) (no, not just bc of Supernatural, it's a very nice song)
R - Rolling In The Deep (Adele)
A - Awake and Alive (Skillet)
S - Shots (Imagine Dragons)
T - The World Is Not Enough (Garbage)
I - In The Shadows (The Rasmus)
N - New Divide (Linkin Park)
A - Anchor (Skillet)
T - Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) (Sly and the Family Stone)
O - Oh No!!! (Grandson) (technically it's not on my playlist, but I ran out of songs starting with O, and this one I've at least listened to a couple of times)
R - Radioactive (Imagine Dragons)
---------
I also couldn't resist the temptation to spell url with other tracks, so I put all tracks from my player (aside from songs) in random order and got this:
A - Aliit Ory'shia Tal'din (Ludwig Göransson, Joseph Shirley, from Book of Boba Fett)
M - Masquerade Suite: Waltz (Aram Khachaturian) (oh, probably my favorite waltz so far)
A - A Thousand Tears (Ludwig Göransson, from The Mandalorian)
S - String Quartet no. 8 in C minor Op.110 (Dmitri Shostakovich)
T - That Slippery Little Hutt Of Mine (Jared Emerson-Johnson, from SWTOR)

R - Ratism (John Murphy, from The Suicide Squad)
P - Project Star Dust (Michael Giacchino, from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story)
R - Race You to the Surface (Kevin Kiner, from The Clone Wars)
O - Opening Title (David Arnold, from Good Omens)
C - Concerto for Violin, Strings and Harpsichord in E minor RV 278 - I. Allegro molto (Antonio Vivaldi)
R - Rey's Theme (John Williams, from Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens)
A - Alderaan, the Throne (Lennie Moore, from SWTOR)
S - (The) Shepherd's Boy (Murray Gold, from Doctor Who)

Bad Spirk AU: Star Trek is filmed in the style of a trashy soap opera. Including the dramatic zoom ins, music and Jim looking into the distance while having flashbacks to him and Spock fighting about their Andorian love child. Everyone talk to themselves all the time.
I don’t watch many soap operas so I had to do research in order to respond to this ask appropriately, and then I got this lovely image in my head of an Andorian baby in Spock and Jim’s arms and I… oops…
Tumblr media
…not so cursed anymore. Except for the over-cluttered backgrounds and way too many lamps that seem to feature in too many soap operas.

inspired by this piece of art by @anthon-e, who’s very generously agreed to let me use it
--
Steve lets out a huff when he feels a weight against his back, obligingly ducking his head so that Tony can rest his head
Tony’s hands circle around his neck, and Steve wrestles with the discussion to tilt and kiss him; before giving into the urge and pressing his lips to the underside of Tony’s chin
He can feel Tony hum against the kiss, and his arms tighten around his neck
“Hey you,” Tony whispers; and Steve leans his back against his chest, “you played well today”
“I’m surprised you came out,” Steve teases, “thought this weather was too cold for your rich boy sensibilities
Tony nods gamely, “It was, but then I found one of your old sweaters and I couldn’t resist”
Steve shifts so he’s facing Tony slightly, beaming when he notices the familiar hoodie
“Old huh?” Steve asks, “Cuz I distinctly remember buying this a week ago and losing it not 24 hours later”
Tony ignores him in favour of the stars, which is really comic given that he’s also climbing over Steve and onto his lap
“The stars are really pretty huh?” Tony says, looking up at Steve after a couple of seconds, cheeks rosy from the cold
Steve leans down and nips them, chuckling when Tony yelps and swats at him
He can’t help but not stare at his boyfriend, hair mussed from him probably running his fingers through it, slight scruff that he refuses to shave no matter how much their friends tease him; and swimming in a hoodie three sizes too big for him
“Stevee,” Tony squirms in his lap, lifting his chin up at the sky, “look at the stars”
stop looking at me goes unsaid, but Steve hears it anyway
Sighing, he bundles Tony up against him and they sway slightly; content in each other’s company
“Yeah you’re pretty,” Steve says after a beat, “stars sure are pretty. Especially when I see them reflected in your eyes”

happy Birthday, Izana <3
n.a.: in Japan, it is already August 20, Izana's birthday, and that's why I post it now <3 I'm very fond of this character, which is also why it hurt a little bit to write this. This man really deserves the world.I hope you like it, and once again, happy birthday Izana <3
summary: 30th august, Izanas birthday<3
genre: angst, fluff, hurt to comfort
warnings: sad(?)
words: 1.2k
Tumblr media
* It was a warm August morning, exactly August 30th, when Izana woke up early for the light infiltrated his room in the first hours of the day.
* As he was excited about his birthday, he immediately got up and ran into the kitchen.
* There, he found his grandfather and his older brother, Shinichiro, cooking pancakes and much other good stuff for breakfast.
* Neither Emma and Mikey had woken up yet, but Izana was too happy and couldn't resist the lure to go and wake up them
* He ran to their room and opened the windows wide before starting to scream that it was time to wake up, it was too important a day to sleep!! In response, the two siblings threw their pillows at him.
* And this is how it started a pillow fight at 8 am. It was around 9 am when Shinichiro tried to stop them, but eventually, he got involved in the fight.
* And by now, at 10 am, they were all seated at the table having breakfast.
* Between pancakes flying around the kitchen and noisy chatter, breakfast ended early.
* Shortly after, Emma ran into her room and took a small box that contained a gift, and along with the other two brothers, she gave it to him.
* In there, there were beautiful red dangle earrings, in the boy's eyes they seemed like a little treasure all for him, he was so happy that he quickly put them on.
* Maybe they were slightly heavy, but he didn't complain at all, he managed to thank everyone by giving them a big and warm hug.
* After that cheesy moment, the quartet got ready to spend the day together.
* They had spent the morning walking around the city, also having lunch in their favorite restaurant. The minutes passed, and so did the hours, and in no time the late afternoon had arrived. Mikey and Shinichiro had locked Izana in his room and while Emma had taken the birthday cake (that they had cooked the day before) out of the refrigerator.
* In a short time, the house was ready, furnished with scattered lights, a few snacks, and various drinks.
* As soon as he left the room, Izana froze, there was a new atmosphere, a feeling of pure happiness invaded the boy's heart. He looked around with a lost look, and the cake on the table caught his attention. It was grossly decorated, and it was clear that it was homemade by the three siblings, but he didn't notice any imperfections.
* Shinichiro was the first to start with the song "Happy birthday to you". But the atmosphere wasn't embarrassing, rather when the others began to sing, a sense of comfort and warmth trespassed the hearts of all present.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY IZANA!!" they yelled to him.
* Soon after, he blew out the candles, wishing he could make that day last forever.
Oh, Izana would have wanted so badly to have a birthday like that. But, even that night, he had woken up sweating, and with wet eyes from tears, it was just a dream.
That dream had all been so vivid that, even if briefly, his heart had warmed with a new pleasant feeling.
He wanted so much for that feeling to last longer. He had also turned over in bed and closed his eyes, hoping to continue his magic dream.
* He had never continued that happy dream, but he had managed to fall asleep again. He had been sleeping peacefully after a long time, so he had woken up more rested and ready to start the day.
* A slight sense of loneliness took hold of him, it was his birthday after all, but no one knew. Or rather, this is what he believed.
* While he was making his usual coffee, someone rang at his door. It was Kakucho, who entered saying that there was a very urgent task they had to do and that they couldn't waste time.
* So Izana sadly left his coffee and followed Kakucho. Waiting for them outside there was Koko, in his car driven by a private driver, who told him to get on.
* There was a lot of silence in that car, and the two black-haired boys were just intent on using the phone, never speaking a word.
* Izana tried to figure out where they were directed, but each time the other two boys had managed to sidetrack the conversation, so much so that the leader was starting to lose patience.
* Several times he would have liked to get off the car, but since it was his birthday he had promised himself to be better, and after a half-hour of driving, they arrived.
* As soon as he got out of the car, there was a small noise and a lot of colored confetti and streamers came upon him.
"SANZU! YOU DID IT TOO SOON IDIOT" Ran's voice was followed by the turning on of the lights which revealed a large room set up for a birthday party.
* A second bang and more confetti flew at Izana...
" SHION NOT YOU TOO," Ran continued yelling.
"AHHHH I'M SORRY, I WAS ONLY FOLLOWING SANZU"
"So they've already been discovered," Koko said to Kakucho.
"Yeah, I think so .." the boy replied.
* Izana meanwhile was frozen, what the fuck was going on ??
"Well that's okay, that's how it went now," Rindou said before coming out of his hiding place.
* "Y'all are idiots," Ran continued, and soon after they all had come out of their hideout.
"What's happening?" were Izana's first words.
“Um so, basically we wanted to organize a surprise for you since today is your birthday…” Kakucho replied.
"But someone has ruined everything." Ran added, glaring at Sanzu.
"Ops"
“I- I don't know what to say,” Izana spoke
"AHH YOU ARE NOT ANGRY, ARE YOU?" Rindou asked.
"No, I'm not"
* And for the third time, there was a small pop and then confetti flew at Izana.
"SHION!!! NOT AGAIN"
"SORRY, I didn't do it on purpose-"
* And at that moment a slight laugh escaped Izana, and that was followed by all present.
“Come on, shall we eat this cake or not? I bring it, and I swear to you that I paid a lot- " Koko said.
* So they headed for the cake, it was very beautiful!! all decorated with red and blue decorations.
* From the first embarrassment and sense of discomfort, the whole climate between those boys was improving.
* Izana was so happy, that sense of warmth he had felt in the dream seemed to have become true. Did he deserve all of that?
* But he wiped his eyes and smiled, he wanted to enjoy those beautiful emotions as much as possible.
“You know, it was Kakucho who wanted to organize it,” Koko told him before being hit by more confetti.
"WHAT THE FUCK? WHO'S THE IDIOT WHO LEFT THE CONFETTI SHOOTING STUFF IN SHION?" he screamed before reaching him to beat him.
* Meanwhile, Izana had approached Kakucho,
"Um Kakucho, thank you," he spoke in a low voice.
"Oh, happy birthday Izana, and that's what friends do, right?" the black-haired boy replied, looking at him and smiling.
* This was an unforgettable birthday for Izana<3

I'm getting back into atla, but I have this hopeful idea of sorts. the world tree swamp is a spiritual place. the waterbenders there were able to live there pretty much untouched by the outside world. what's to say small groups of airbenders couldn't have taken refuge there, hidden by the spiritual powers of the tree? I know it's definitively stated that they all were wiped out during the comet, but couldn't have some been traveling the world away from the temples? why couldn't they have been drawn there through spiritual communication? idk. I h8 that all the airbenders were wiped out. >: ( I also just wanted to see your take on an idea like this!
long time, no response. sorry op. honestly, unpopular opinion, but i've always been rather moved by the last airbender facet of aang and the original show. it encouraged an existential question at the heart of the show: what if this really is the end? what if this is all there is? just you. and soon enough it's gone, and that's it. no human legacy. no one else who exactly understands what you've been through. how do you choose to act then? it also reminds us that we live in a world where so many languages and cultures, people(s) and beliefs have disappeared (to current empires and past empires and other less societal reasons), and that doesn't render them meaningless or lesser. aang serves in a way as an icon for these losses. and obvi aang's a complicated representation of this since his beliefs and character draw influence from living oppressed groups. for audience members who are survivors and the descendants of survivors of genocide, for members of expelled and dispersed groups, it can easily be felt as further violence to see a fellow survivor be the end of the line rather than a representation of further resistance and vitality. all the more power to fans to create these narratives! but i also encourage those narratives to take into account the compassion and acceptance of impermanence that's at the heart of atla.
