She'd found Deputy Hartley sitting alone at a campfire in the woods surrounding the Lincoln lookout tower looking like a rebel kicked out of the Eagle scouts, and she's immediately taken aback when she catches his face in the firelight.

When people talk about Deputy Hartley, what they fail to mention is just how young he is. Though, she supposes she should have expected as much based on the stories she's heard. Brash and reckless, without an ounce of self-preservation. It reminds her of the dumb shit she did in her teens and early twenties before the army drilled some sense into her.

But Christ.

Hartley's just a fucking kid. The wispy hair on his upper lip and chin would look more at home on a newborn's head.

But then he asked if she wanted to help him ruin John's day, and she can't help but smile. "Kinda what I was lookin' for you for," she says, circling around the fire to stand across from where he's seated. "Mind if I sit?"

Hartley gestures broadly at her. "Mi fuego es su fuego," he says, taking a swig from the beer bottle in his hand. Once she's settled in the dirt, he asks, "So, what'cha got?"

"Grace n' I've been scoutin' the ranch for a while now. We think we've figured out how to get Donovan and the girl outta there. Thought you'd want in on it."

His eyes widen, but then narrow warily. "Are you able to ensure their safety?"

Sybille shrugs. "I ain't in the habit of makin' promises I can't keep, but I can say with a high degree of certainty that your girls'll make it out unharmed."

He frowns. "And what makes you so sure?"

"Eleven years in the service with a number of those doin' combat search and rescue. Extraction's my specialty and I ain't ever lost anyone. Your girls'll be in good hands. 'Specially if you're there."

The Deputy is silent for a long moment, his gaze scrutinizing her face, searching for any signs of bullshit. Finding none, he pulls another bottle of beer from the cooler resting beside him. He tosses it to her. "Alright," he says. "Walk me through your plan."

Sybille grins. Using the buckle of her belt to pop the cap, she lays out the plan she and Grace discussed. All the while, Hartley's face remains serious and stoic.

Reckless and wild, but not entirely without the ability to be serious -- especially when it comes to Deputy Donovan and her family. Hartley is a loyal man, Sybille thinks. He might even be a good one if the weight on his shoulders doesn't chew him up and spit him out first.

🌈I know I bitch about fight scenes on here constantly but I'm not kidding when I said I was in a fight for my life with chapter 7 of IMBI. How do people do action scenes in written form? HOW? Trying to describe fight choreography is a nightmare. I got through it by literally writing like 2 sentences at a time and then walking away for a few hours lol. I kept getting Leo out of there so I wouldn't have to keep describing what the other boys were doing. RIP Donnie your head getting banged was mostly important for character reasons but also it meant I had less fighting to write. Thank you for your sacrifice /wipes a tear

I'll be honest and note that I do tumblr and not twitter because fandom twitter scares me. I'm sorry |'D Tumblr is my home and my native language, I'd just look like a tourist and everyone would be mean to me on twitter a;lsdfja;sd

I DO THINK THOUGH that fandom is healthier when people are kind to each other in online fan spaces and generally just remember that the people you're engaging with are real people behind the screen, not just pfps on a screen. And giving people engagement definitely helps encourage people to do more, so if you want more fanart and more fanfic and more everything else be sure to like/kudos/comment/tag! I know people love reading their tags and comments especially, myself included.

That said I don't really agree with the culture of like, you have to comment or you're a bad person. I feel like putting pressure on people to do certain things has the opposite effect, where more people will lurk because they don't want people to think it means something that they, say, commented on this but didn't comment on that, or whatever. I mean I know I struggle with the fear of putting my foot in my mouth when I talk to new people, or the fear of people reading too much into what I say here versus what I say there (like logically I know no one is paying that much attention to ME but tell the social anxiety that lol), so I don't want someone to feel so pressured they just shut down engagement completely, ya dig?

Luci I must ask... Why; why do you like Hannibal? No judgment here I am just v confused why people like this show. Don't they like.... Eat humans? No one seems to acknowledge that at least from what I've seen? I am confusion

ajsd;flsdjkf dw, this ask is 100% reasonable and very warrented and honestly--

I have no idea how to explain it. 

The show is about a psychopathic murderous cannibal that regularly kills people he thinks are rude, cooks them in extravagant meals and serves them to unwitting people at dinner parties. The (arguably) main character is a tortured idiot who ends up also becoming a manipulative murderer and literally the end scene is the two of them teaming up to murder a man. 

There’s literally multiple scenes were Will tries actually murdering Hannibal and multiple scenes where Hannibal tries actually murdering Will (it doesn’t stick--well, depending on what you think of the ending XD).

It’s very gory, characters you like will die and get hurt by other characters you like (but mostly ones you don’t), when you think it can’t possibly get worse it will, and genuinely the only way to understand how good it is is to watch it XDD

I love this show with my entire heart but I totally get why people don’t like it--honestly I might fuck around and make a youtube video on it if I could pin point exactly what the fuck makes this show so good???? but idk??? It’s just really well written??? I guess???

Honestly idk if you’ve read AFtG but it’s *very* like that, in terms of incredible violence and morally grey characters you somehow manage to love with your entire heart. It’s like if AFtG was only Kings Men, and like, 4 books worth XD.

But I mean, it’s also gay, there’s canon lesbians, Will and Hannibal are like, actual murder husbands (they’re not really but they are--a sdkjf;lajsdlf you just have to watch it to understand but it’s canon just trust me it’s ajks;dkkfljas incredible honestly)

Anyways, idk if this makes any sense but it took me 3 days to fully explain all three seasons to Moony and I still didn’t get everything across so ajsdf;laksjdf hoenstly I have no idea--genuinely I have no idea why this show is so good. It has all the makings to be terrible and aweful but somehow???? it’s not????
