[TWST AU]: An MC/Yuu from the SCP universe

[Synopsis]: In this timeline, a scientist named MC/Yuu who works for the SCP Foundation was looking into a case where people claimed they found “Wonderland.”

[(A/N)]: Surprise! This is the unknown MC/Yuu mentioned from the 100 Followers Celebration. I have been watching multiple of SCP videos lately. Thought it would be fun if the TWST world was treated like an anomaly.

On their usual shift at the SCP Foundation, MC/Yuu was writing down a report about their previous case they handled. The SCP-3640 a.k.a. Escape from the House of Mouse.

Then one of their colleagues came by and told them there were reports of people who claimed they all found a portal to another world.

This got MC/Yuu hooked on since they never worked on this kind of case before. So they decided to take this opportunity to learn more about it.

MC/Yuu and some agents arrived at an abandoned funeral home where people who explored in rundown buildings had reported they saw one specific coffin that lights up with colorful blinding sparks.

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Pulls out their gun* I’m ready. Everyone, scout out. If you see something odd, call me over.

SCP Agent 1: Roger that.

Everyone split up with a partner and starts searching for any anomalies, with caution.

An hour passed by, they radioed MC/Yuu.

SCP Agent 1: *BZZT!* Dr. MC/Yuu, we found something. We need you over. *BZZT!*

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Calls back* I’m on my way. Don’t touch anything and stay five feet apart of the anomaly.

The next minute, MC/Yuu arrived to the other agents who found a coffin which started lighting up through the cracks not long ago.

MC/Yuu volunteered to observe the object before bringing it back to the foundation so D-Class subjects could test the object. The agents were concerned at first, but they decided to trust them.

As they opened the cover, blinding lights emerged out, causing MC/Yuu to loose focus and fall into the portal.

Then they arrived to Twisted Wonderland and flew out of the portal onto Crowley, who was checking in.

They freaked out and points their gun at Crowley.

Crowley: What are you doing?!

SCP!MC/Yuu: Stay away from me! I have a fucking gun in my hands and won’t hesitate to shoot your head off, anomaly!

Oh, one more thing: They can act so unhinged after working with such dangerous anomalies.

As it seems they’re stuck until the portal opens again, they’ll just collect information about the place called Twisted Wonderland.

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Starts recording the interview with their recorder* Alright, let’s get started. Could you state who you are and what do you do?

Riddle: Of course. I’m Riddle Rosehearts, the Dorm Leader of Heartslabyul Dormitory and an honorary student of Night Raven College.

SCP!MC/Yuu: I see. So, what classes Night Raven College provides compare to what doesn’t exist in my home world?

Ace: There’s Alchemy, P.E. with flying broomsticks, and what not. I bet historical events from here aren’t accurate to your world’s history moments.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Does Night Raven College function like any other universities such as admissions and career consulting?

Deuce: Wait. Your universities work like that? We have magical assortments to help us with our years.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Hmm. Do you realize many people accidentally found your world through a coffin? Like a pocket dimension.

Trey: Really? Well that explains why there are many unfamiliar faces back in my family’s bakery. They even looked more surprised after witnessing magic like it’s their first time.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Uh huh. I see your world’s technology looks advanced as the ones back home. The smartphones and tablets.

Cater: Really?! Does your world have something similar to MagiCam?

SCP!MC/Yuu: Similarly, yes. Minus the magic properties. In Twisted Wonderland, could you name and describe each countries?

Leona: I think you got the wrong one to ask an annoying question.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Okay, never mind. Could you tell about how you grew up before attending NRC?

Ruggie: All I can say is a rough neighborhood, a not-so-easy childhood and working many jobs to support myself and for others. Oh, doughnuts. Can I takes these with me after the interview?

SCP!MC/Yuu: Oh, sure. I brought them in if you were hungry. What other animalistic features beast-people were born with? If the question is uncomfortable to answer, you don’t have to say anything.

Jack: No, I’ll answer for you. There are many with great strengths and abilities you would know. If you want to learn more, the Savanaclaw Dorm has many beastmen you can interview, if they cooperate.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Sounds like a field day, but next question. What is the currency used in Twisted Wonderland?

Azul: The currency used in our world is Madol, Dr. MC/Yuu.

SCP!MC/Yuu: That’s interesting. Could you explain to me how the environment works in this world?

Jade: Oya? I’m glad you asked. In fact, I can use my terrariums for demonstrations.

[An hour later]

SCP!MC/Yuu: That took quite a while. So what is your strength level scaling from 1 to 10?

Floyd: An 11 if I squeeze hard enough. Do you want one~?

SCP!MC/Yuu: Impressive, yet terrifying. So how many siblings do you have?

Kalim: Around 30 siblings!

SCP!MC/Yuu: That’s a lot of names to remember. How are you associated with a snake?

Jamil: *Cringes while covering half of his face* It’s a long story. In short, my Unique Magic is able to hypnotize anyone with direct eye contact.

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Writing down on their notebook* Hypnosis and “Unique Magic”. How are you able to balance school with outstanding careers?

Vil: Well, it was all hard efforts and not missing great details to enhance my skills as an actor, an influencer, and being a Dorm Leader of Pomefiore.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Wow. That’s quite a lot and working at the foundation seems easier now. Is “observing” students of Night Raven College the only thing you do for free time?

Rook: Oui! I also do photography.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Uh huh. How are you able to handle situations when others mistaken you of the other gender?

Epel: I yell anyone accusing me as a girl and sometimes beat ‘em up.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Looks are deceiving…Hey, why is your brother not here? I told him I need to interview everyone in this school.

Ortho: Sorry, Dr. MC/Yuu! Nii-San can’t come because he’s anxious of leaving his room. He usually talks through his tablet.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Then I can’t proceed if he is not physically present for the interview.

Ortho: *Sighs* He will not like this.

[Half hour later]

Idia: *Scared shitless*

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Stares blankly at him* So, Idia Shroud, what family curse people rumored about? I’m not judging you based on groundless words. I only need answers. That’s it.

Idia: *Practically shaking* W-W-Well…You see…

[2 hours later]

SCP!MC/Yuu: That’s…quite a lot to take in…Again? I can’t proceed if he isn’t present.

Lilia: Oh my! My apologies on behalf of Malleus, doctor. I’ll be the one to answer his questions since I raised him. Of course, I’ll answer my questions as well.

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Suspicious* Very well. You may answer.

Silver: *Fell asleep during his interview*

SCP!MC/Yuu: （−＿− ) …

Lilia: I’ll answer his questions too.

SCP!MC/Yuu: …Right. Could you try speaking in a calmer tone?

Sebek: WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! MY VOICE IS CALM, PUNY NINGEN-

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Points their gun at Sebek’s forehead* I have a gun in my hand and I’ll pull the trigger if you talked this fucking loud again. Got it?

Sebek: *Closes his mouth and shrinks down* Understand…

[The next hour]

SCP!MC/Yuu: Could you tell me more about yourself?

Grim: Would I? I, The Great Grim, have always been trying to enter to Night Raven College…

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Writing down their interview log*

[Hours later]

SCP!MC/Yuu: Holy shit. I can barely think of other names for these anomalies. Maybe I should just call this world SCP-TWST-2020, and use their actual names.

Crewel: Pup, why do you work for such a dangerous job?

SCP!MC/Yuu: Funny story. I was actually taken in by the SCP Foundation and they thought I was one of the many anomalies since I was still in my elementary years and pretty intelligent. In reality, I’m just knowledgeable in many fields from reading in too much (And was tutored by Miss. J). They offered me a job and education since they thought I would be a great asset after things cleared up. It was a surprisingly rare opportunity, from other co-workers’ words.

Crewel: Then are you not scarred for encountering such vile creatures?

SCP!MC/Yuu: Only the first few times, and my job has benefits like psychiatric check-ups or using amnestics. Do you have guys have therapy in this school, or world?

Crewel: *Side glares at Crowley*

Crowley: *Clears his throat* We are working on that…

[Visiting the SCP Foundation]

SCP!MC/Yuu: Okay guys. I relocated the coffin in a safe chamber room since we can’t risk any lives trapping themselves. Who knows what troubles could cause.

Deuce: Ah, understand. You’re pretty diligent of everything.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Oh it’s nothing. Everyone here just wants to keep the world safe from any anomalous objects and maintaining the world from insanity. Also I got special permission from the higher-ups after collecting data. You present harmless natures, but with some mischief and childhood trauma that you’re allowed to interact with others within the foundation which is why you’re all classified as Safe, for now.

Riddle: What do you mean by “for now”?

SCP!MC/Yuu: Remember the times you and the others overblotted during my stay?

Riddle: *Nervous* Yes.

SCP!MC/Yuu: I even showed the higher-ups about the phenomenon and convinced them to let me handle these occurrences. I’m not afraid to use extreme measures to secure, contain, and protect.

SCP!MC/Yuu: Wait, stop! Do not touch the duck.

Ace: *Yanks his hands away from a purple rubber duck* What?

SCP!MC/Yuu: Oh thank god. You almost killed yourself.

Ace: Why would I be killed by some bath toy?

SCP!MC/Yuu: That’s SCP-6868, Bubbly Bobby the Rubber Ducky. The risk class is DANGER.

Ace: A toy duck? Dangerous?

SCP!MC/Yuu: Just read the reports about this anomaly. *Passes the file to Ace*

[Minutes later]

Ace: *Hides behind SCP!MC/Yuu as they’re holding the duck with gloves on* Why does your world have to be fucked up?

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Squeals of happiness* My baby!

Grim: Wait! I’m not a baby!

SCP!MC/Yuu: *Rushes over* Move, Grim! *Pushes Grim aside and hugs SCP-999 a.k.a. The Tickle Monster* I missed you, buddy! Work was hectic! Are you and Kairos doing okay?

Kei was a young child actor at seven who starred in mystery/detective shows. She was mostly casted in side character roles until she finally became a main role in a show called “Give It Your All Tamiko-San!” A mystery show with a bit of magical girl elements. She also sang and wrote lyrics for the show's opening “The Lead to Your Heart” which gained a lot of love and popularity. According to old fans of the show, it was extremely catchy and even played on several radio news sessions just because it was that well liked. 

Kei was taken aback by this praise for her song. By then, he was just a well known enough actor but now to the world he’s a natural born singer. He started to wonder if this was truly a path he should go down on. And after the final season of “Give It Your All Tamiko-San!” he finally had an answer. 

Not only did she pursue becoming an idol but she also trained under NRC for two years. Eventually becoming a soloist at the age of 16 with her first solo mini album “Open Shut Case”. The whole concept of the albums’ meaning is that no matter what your love for her is very clear. An open and shut case if you will- ok imma shut up now

Since in the headmistress au was mostly talked about inside the campus, I wonder how other schools feel about the situation. Not to mentioned, I felt Crowley is still finding a job after being kicked out and is living homeless since no one wants to hired him.

I feel like it would a bit of time for the other schools to register that something isn't right. Because they only ever really interact when events that involve them happen. So besides the initial polite welcoming of Mrs.Rosehearts they don't immediately know she is unhinged.

At RSA Ambrose might have a feeling in the pit of his stomach. He's used to the rivalry between the schools. They're across town from each other. He saw Crowley somewhat regularly and heard news of NRC all the time in the local news. Now the radio silence is a bit disturbing. It's like when you realize the kids you were watching have been oddly quiet and that usually means something bad is a foot. He's tried to find an in to see the status of the school. Like offering interschool spell drive practices, only for Mrs.Rosehearts to dismiss them all.

Clara knows a little sooner that something is off. She used to speak with Lilia fairly often only to not get word from him in weeks. Then one of the White Ash staff talks about how she hasn't heard from either of her sons since the headmaster change and it's worrying her sick. It seems harder than ever to get a visitor pass, so Clara decides to call the school herself for Professor Adelaide to visit. When she comes back, with her boys in tow, she tells Clara everything she saw. How the Headmistress seemed oddly cold. How all the students were visibly more morose. Adelaide was horrified to see her sons were notably much thinner and looking sick. They told her everything about how miserable it was and how they wanted her to pull them out of NRC, something the brothers had never once asked for when Crowley was around. Quite opposite, before the change they were adamant about staying. She had a whole argument with Headmistress Rosehearts in her office after saying that she was immediately taking her sons with her. Clara isn't usually one to interfere in other academies affairs, but it seems this time it was needed.

As for Crowley, I doubt he's homeless. He probably had private quarters on campus, but I doubt he has no place at all to go after losing his job. Though that being said, I like the idea of him just showing up on Claras doorstep like a sad stray in the rain. They may have their differences, but she's the most reliable person he knows. Kind of , "We may not get along, but I don't know who else I can turn to." type deal.

Crowley has another great plan

The students seemed rather lost on the schools info those days and He's getting really bored of the same gossips, the teachers too are in desperate need of some, not class related, shenanigans

So why not creat a Night Raven Radio Station? And who, might you ask, is our great radio host? YUU OF COURSE!

Every night, after classes, Yuu enters the improvised radio room They built on the dorm, picks the pages They scripted and start transmitting on magicam

On the beggining the headmaster was personaly there to read the script and give some of his others brilliant ideas no Sir we can't make an NRC commercial, first you aren't paying me, and second we ARE ALREADY AT NRC, Grim some times bursts in to cause havoc, this gains the program a bit of a higher audience

Very few students actually heard it, after all only some knew of this, Yuu started to tell some tips on Crewels tests, pass important info the teachers gave them, some music, They even started asking the birthday boy of the day if They can use the five questions for content, some short story telling that was so suspiciously similar to the gossip of the day, that was actually entertaining, and of course, trying to make their job easier, They always finished with some kind message, a little tip for the stressed students together with a reminder that everything is going to be ok, even if your brain doesn't belives in it

Yes, the first years come to participate on most days, some act on the short stories, some are there just to joke around and tell how's to live on their dorm, sometimes even hosting when Yuu needs a break the boys gossip about Yuu's life once, got a strange high audience that night

They did manage to attract Azul's attention, He pays them to say what's the menu of Monstro lounge tomorrow, and even participated on an interview, on the days Malleus can't get out of his room, be it by Lilias demands for silver and sebek to have a good night at lest once a week or a raining day, He listens and now wants to participate talk about gargoyles

Sam's not stupid and pays Yuu to say what's new on the stock, Crowley doesn't know about these sponsors and Yuu is very happy to never mention them if They wish to keep the little money They have

Once Floyd bursts in, it's the new soap opera of the night, kalim was so excited to participate, We don't talk about the truth or dare incident, Trey gives permission to use some of his recipes with a catch, the listeners have to figure out witch three ingredients are false, Cater is living for the behind the scenes videos He's making and the bloopers He gets when visiting

There is a Q&A day, any mensagens send to the NRC radio magicam could be answered by Yuu with the guest of the day help yes the public knows who the guest will be beforehand, some are normal, some are troll, some are very specific and some are.... strangely flirty

It becomes quite popular and then... Ambrose heard of this... now Yuu has RSA fans! And more guests! And more gossip! and CHAOS!

Un grand pas vers la compréhension du phénomène FRB

Les Fast Radio Bursts (FRB), ces émissions radio ultra-rapides (et ultra-mystérieuses), viennent peut-être de fournir enfin la signature indiquant leur nature. Du moins pour ce qui concerne la FRB la plus célèbre, la seule qui s'est répétée plusieurs fois : FRB 121102.

Ce n'est pas sans raison que je vous ai abondamment parlé des bouffées d'ondes radio rapides depuis quelques années (voir là, là, là , là, ici, là , ici, ici , et là ). Ces phénomènes transitoires font en effet partie des phénomènes astrophysiques les plus mal compris. Il s'agit de brusques bouffées de rayonnement dans le domaine radio, très courtes, quelques millisecondes à peine, et qui ne se répètent jamais. Ou presque. Car l'une d'entre elles, FRB 121102, qui est apparue le 2 novembre 2012, a pu être détectée à nouveau à de multiples reprises, ce qui a en outre permis de déterminer son origine très lointaine dans une galaxie distante (3 milliards d'années-lumière).

L'équipe à capturé 16 bouffées, ayant des durées s'étalant entre 9 et 30 millisecondes. Ces durées suggèrent que l'objet qui en est à l'origine pourrait avoir une taille de 10 km, soit la taille typique d'une étoile à neutrons. 

Ces nouvelles observations indiquent aussi que cette source radio atypique serait englobée dans une région où règne un champ magnétique gigantesque. Or de tels champs magnétiques n'ont été vu que autour d'étoiles à neutrons très jeunes, très rapides et très fortement magnétisées situées à proximité d'un trou noir supermassif (Sgr A* en l’occurrence), ce qu'on appelle des magnétars.

L'équipe de radioastronomes hollandais menée par Daniele Michilli (Netherlands Institute for Radio Astronomy, Amsterdam) a utilisé les radiotélescopes d'Arecibo et de Green Bank pour suivre dans le temps les émissions en provenance de la source de FRB 121102, et en en mesurant la polarisation. 

C'est l'information de la polarisation qui les a mis sur le chemin du champ magnétique. Quand des ondes radio polarisées traversent une région où existe un champ magnétique, les vecteurs de polarisation du champ électromagnétique se retrouvent modifiés par le phénomène de rotation de Faraday : on parle de torsion. Et l'effet de torsion est proportionnel à l'intensité du champ magnétique. Le taux de torsion des ondes radio venant de FRB 121102, d'après Daniele Michilli et ses collègues, est parmi les plus élevés jamais observés dans une source radio. Ils ont également observé que la torsion de la polarisation du champ électromagnétique pouvait varier de 10% en l'espace de 6 mois, ce qui conforte l'idée d'un objet compact.

Les astrophysiciens en déduisent dans leur étude qui est publiée aujourd'hui en Une de Nature, que les bouffées radio de FRB 121102 passent à travers un milieu ayant un champ magnétique exceptionnellement élevé, comme un plasma dense se déplaçant à vitesse rapide. Or les seules sources radio qui montrent une torsion si importante dans leur polarisation se situent vers le centre de notre galaxie, à proximité du trou noir supermassif susceptible d'accréter un disque de plasma. Il est donc fort probable selon les auteurs, que la source de FRB 121102 soit un magnétar situé à proximité du plasma entourant un trou noir supermassif. Une autre hypothèse est néanmoins également plausible, celle d'un magnétar qui serait englué dans la nébuleuse de résidus de la supernova qui lui a donné naissance.

La localisation de FRB 121102 date d'il y a environ 1 an. On avait alors appris que la source se trouvait dans une zone de formation d'étoiles d'une galaxie naine située à 3 milliards d'années-lumière. L'énergie dissipée par cette FRB en 1 milliseconde, vu la puissance re��ue à la distance considérable à laquelle nous la détectons, est du même ordre que toute l'énergie libérée par le Soleil au cours de sa vie! 

Or ce type de galaxie est connue pour contenir de grandes quantités de gaz et pouvant former des étoiles particulièrement massives et à courte vie, qui explosent après quelques millions d'années en supernovas superlumineuses, laissant derrière elles soit des trous noirs stellaires, soit des pulsars, ou des magnétars.

Pour essayer de savoir maintenant quel est l'environnement exact de ce magnétar qui serait à l'origine de ces bouffées d'ondes radio, les radioastronomes poursuivent un suivi régulier de la région de FRB 121102, pour percevoir d'éventuelles évolutions. Si la décroissance de 10% tous les six mois qui a été aperçue se poursuit, l'hypothèse de la nébuleuse de vent de pulsar avec une coquille de débris en expansion serait confortée. Au contraire, si des oscillations disparates se poursuivent à une intensité à peu près constante, le scénario du passage d'un magnétar dans le plasma d'un trou noir supermassif serait privilégié.

Referendum zu Unabhängigkeit Kurdistans: Christen unter Druck

Das Referendum, mit dem am kommenden 25. September über die Unabhängigkeit der autonomen Region Kurdistan vom irakischen Staat entschieden werden soll, bereitet den Christen in der Region großes Kopfzerbrechen: denn wie auch immer sie sich positionieren, sie werden sich Feinde machen. Das betont im Interview mit Radio Vatikan Karin Maria Fenbert; die Geschäftsführerin von Kirche in Not Deutschland ist gerade von einer Reise durch den Nordirak und ins syrische Aleppo zurück gekommen.

„Ich habe bei meiner Fahrt durch die Ninive-Ebene auch ein entsprechendes Plakat gesehen, da hieß es: ,Ja zum Referendum!´ Dieses soll am 25. September stattfinden, deshalb gibt es durchaus einige Spannungen im Nordirak zu beobachten, weil die Leute natürlich nicht wissen, was das für deren Zukunft bedeutet", berichtet Fenbert von ihren Eindrücken. „Die Christen wollten sich dazu aus verständlichen Gründen nicht äußern… Als Außenstehender denke ich mir dazu nur, wenn sie mit ,Ja´ stimmen und es zu einer Abspaltung kommt, gibt es nicht nur Ärger mit der Regierung in Bagdad, sondern auch mit der Türkei, die nicht dabei zusehen wird, dass ein unabhängiges Kurdengebiet entsteht. Wenn hingegen mit ,Nein´ gestimmt wird, droht den Christen Ärger von kurdischer Seite, auf deren Territorium sie aber weitestgehend wohnen.“

Zwischen Kurden und der Türkei

In den vergangenen Wochen mehren sich tatsächlich die Anzeichen dafür, dass die kurdischen Autoritäten die Christen bei ihren Plänen für ein unabhängiges Kurdistan verstärkt einspannen wollen. So hatte erst kürzlich der Bürochef des kurdischen Präsident der autonomen Region christliche Vertreter zum Gespräch über das Referendum geladen; Präsident Barzani hatte den Christen für den Fall eines erfolgreichen Referendums sogar mehr Rechte für ihre Minderheit in Aussicht gestellt. Doch die Spannungen steigen spürbar an, so wurde Kirche in Not und ihren Projektpartnern in diesem Zusammenhang wohl auch der Zugang zur Stadt Mossul verweigert.

Stattdessen war das Team unter anderem in Karakosh, der „heimlichen Hauptstadt der Christen“, bei deren Betreten die Besucher durch ein großes, auf einem Haus montiertes Kreuz begrüßt wurden, zeigte sich Fenbert von diesem offenen Glaubenszeugnis beeindruckt. Der Wiederaufbau schreite voran: „Was auffällt, ist der entsetzliche Zustand der Straßen, aber es werden schon viele Häuser wieder aufgebaut beziehungsweise sind schon fertig", berichtet Fenbert. „Mit den derzeit zur Verfügung gestellten Mitteln für Karakosh werden zur Zeit etwa 300 Häuser wieder aufgebaut, 244 sind schon fertig und die anderen sollen in den nächsten zehn Tagen fertig werden.“

Fünf Familien pro Tag kehren zurück

Im Schnitt kehrten fünf christliche Familien am Tag in die Stadt zurück, berichtet Fenbert unter Berufung auf ihre Projektpartner, die aufgrund der Anfragen nach Hilfen für den Wiederaufbau und einer erstmals unternommenen systematischen Katalogisierung der Besitzstände sehr genaue Informationen zur Verfügung haben. Etwa 1.000 Familien seien den Angaben nach aktuell wieder zurück gekommen. Besonders weit fortgeschritten sei der Wiederaufbau des nahen Dorfes Tel Eskof, das mittlerweile schon ein zögerliches Wiederaufleben des normalen bürgerlichen Lebens erkennen lasse: „In Tel Eskof sah man, obwohl 50 Grad Hitze herrschten, Straßenbauarbeiten, man sah Bagger, man sah große Betonmischer, Leute, die mit der Schubkarre und Geräten draußen arbeiteten, um die Straße wieder herzustellen und so etwas wie einen Bürgersteig zu schaffen. Man sah auch Leute, die versuchten, ihre Läden wieder zu streichen, aufzumauern, zu spachteln… Wir waren in einer Metzgerei, die vor Kurzem wieder eröffnet hat, wir waren an Obstständen, wir waren an anderen Läden, auch die Kirche Sankt Georg wurde von fünf Arbeitern von innen wieder aufgebaut…“

Kirche, Häuser, Bürgersteige

Besonders das ehrenamtliche Engagement vieler junger Menschen, die mit Entschiedenheit und unentgeltlich für den Wiederaufbau ihrer Stadt kämpften, habe ihr Hoffnung für die Zukunft der Gegend gegeben, meint Fenbert. Die Arbeit dieser Gruppe sei enorm wichtig für einen gelungen Neustart, erzählt sie uns: von der Katalogisierung der Besitzstände und Schäden, über einen Plan für den benötigten Wiederaufbau, bis zu Bauarbeiten in glühender Hitze erstreckten sich die Tätigkeiten, denen die jungen Menschen bis zu zwölf Stunden am Tag nachgingen.

Doch da die Arbeiten in Tel Eskof mittlerweile an einem guten Punkt seien, hätte sich die Gruppe das nächste Dorf, Batnaya, vorgenommen – diese Gemeinschaft gilt als in der Ninive-Ebene als mit am schwersten zerstört. Auf Kirche und Not und ihre Projektpartner warteten jedoch noch zahlreiche Aufgaben, meint Fenbert: „Zunächst wird noch eine Weile die Hilfe für die Vertriebenen in Ankawa (ein Quartier bei Erbil, das besonders viele christliche Flüchtlinge aufgenommen hat, Anm.d.Red.) nötig sein, und gleichzeitig wollen wir den Leuten helfen, wieder in ihre Orte ziehen zu können. Das heißt also Materialkosten zu übernehmen, damit die Häuser renoviert werden können. Auf die Dauer soll die Hilfe für die Vertriebenen aber gedrosselt werden, weil wir das Projekt nicht auf ewig betreiben können und es auch für die Menschen besser ist, wenn sie ihr Leben aktiv wieder in die Hand nehmen, also wenn sie dort, wo sie herkommen, ihr Leben wieder aufbauen, wenn die Sicherheitslage es auf die Dauer erlaubt.“

Prekäre Sicherheitslage

Die Sicherheitslage ist in der Tat nach wie vor prekär, viele Menschen stehen nach den Plünderungen und mutwilligen Zerstörungen ihrer Behausungen vor dem Nichts. Wer etwas hatte, kehrt als armer Mensch zurück und ist zunächst auf Hilfe zum Überleben angewiesen. Doch vor allem der Schock, zu Opfern einer derartigen Welle von Gewalt und Hass zu werden, sitzt tief in der christlichen Bevölkerung der Niniveh-Ebene. „Unisono wurde uns in allen Ortschaften erzählt, dass die Häuser geplündert wurden, dass auch Türen und Fenster entwendet wurden, viele Häuser wurden in Brand gesetzt, und zwar nicht unbedingt nur, um zu zerstören, sondern auch, um Flugzeuge davon abzuhalten, gegen den IS vorgehen zu können. Viele Häuser, auch die Innenwände, wurden beschmiert mit islamischen Sprüchen. Natürlich gibt es auch Einschüchterungsversuche, dass man auf die Häuser geschrieben hat: ,Wir kommen wieder.´“

Verständlich sei vor diesem Hintergund, dass auch das Misstrauen gegenüber den muslimischen Anrainern gestiegen sei. Zwar sei das Zusammenleben von Christen und Muslimen in der Region noch bis vor wenigen Jahren weitgehend friedlich verlaufen, doch das zerstörerische und Gedankengut, das den IS erst möglich gemacht hat, ist noch lange nicht aus den Köpfen der Menschen vertrieben. „Natürlich ist die Lage jetzt sehr viel schwieriger als vor dem IS, als nicht nur der IS christliche Dörfer zerstört hat, sondern auch darum herum lebende Muslime die Häuser der Christen mit geplündert haben. Das hat sicherlich ein neues Kapitel aufgeschlagen und das macht es den Christen schon sehr schwer, mit dieser Geschichte fertig zu werden. Das wird sicher einige Zeit dauern, wenn überhaupt, dass das wieder heilt.“

Niniveh Reconstruction Committee

Das katholische Hilfswerk Kirche in Not hat federführend die Kampagne „Niniveh Reconstruction Committee“ (NRC) ins Leben gerufen. Damit folgt Kirche in Not dem Aufruf von Papst Franziskus und lokalen Kirchenführern, sich dafür einzusetzen, dass das Christentum im Nahen Osten weiterhin bestehen bleiben kann. In der derzeitigen Notlage liegt der Fokus von Kirche in Not und ihren Projektpartnern nicht nur auf den seelsorglichen Aspekten, sondern vor allem auf der materiellen Hilfe für den Wiederaufbau der zerstörten christlichen Wohnhäuser und Kirchen. Der finanzielle Aufwand ist enorm: einer ersten Schätzung nach werden allein für den Wiederaufbau der Wohnhäuser über 250 Millionen Dollar nötig sein.

First question: How did they arrived in Twisted Wonderland?

There’s an old forbidden book locked away in an enchanted glass case, hidden deep in the library to prevent students to have their hands on it. Dire Crowley, as irresponsible as he is, decided to open the case just for curiosity.

Trein spotted him and warned him about what it contains. Incantations, immoral rituals, harmful spells, the list goes on. (Don’t ask me how he knows. All I can say he’s way old to know what’s dangerous.) After being warned, Crowley still continues to possibly doom everyone’s lives.

He got the book and flips through the pages containing cryptic symbols and eerie messages written from the previous writer. Then he finds one page that caught his masked eyes.

[Pg. 667: <The Radio Demon>]

The summoning goes by a ritual involves a secluded area, 5 candlesticks, a pentagram with symbols copied from the page, an old radio and a drop of impure blood. There’s specific instructions the reader needs to follow.

Then Crowley proceeds to perform the ritual in the Mirror Chamber. As he finishes the instructions, the floor cracks opens to reveal a figure in a sharp suit with asymmetrical deer antlers and eyes glowing eerily staring at Crowley.

“Who has summoned me and what business you have in mind~?” Their voice as if muffled through a microphone with technical problems at a radio station.

“The Radio Demon?”

*Record scratches*

Now in their actual voice. “…That’s my brother, Alastor. I’m the Static Demon.”

Yep. That’s right. They’re related to The Infamous Radio Demon.

There’s been a HUGE misunderstanding. The demon snatches the forbidden book out of Crowley’s hands and flips to their page.

“I told that writer not to write in a candle lit room at night. Great, now I need to get this over with and finish what started.” They mumbled before turning the attention to Crowley, shadowing over the headmaster. Smiling sinisterly down at him.

“Now tell me, my fellow crow-man, do you wish to make a deal~? If you try to trick me with your human cleverness, it won’t work.”

Now Crowley screwed up. He unleashed a demon who can turn people mad. He panics and offers a deal for them to hang around while try not to cause insanity.

Static Demon!MC/Yuu was just summoned in an unfamiliar world so why not explore the place.

Also Static Demon!MC/Yuu found Grim and demands Crowley to register the feline creature in the college since they see great “potential” in him.

I went scowering through the NRC radio tag cause I really like that AU (I wish there was more content of it but alas ;w;), and I'm very curious about the "truth or dare incident". I also headcannon that there a silent competition among the students to fluster the mysterious prefect/part time radio host (wether it be by questions or by the other hosts participating at the time).

“New school, new horizons and a new page to my story!”

Raven Queen at Pomefiore:

-The first times at Pomefiore and NRC in general were a bit akward for Raven mainly because of the cultural shock.

-Her dormmates were very nice but them over complimenting her was very akward to her so at first she mainly hang out with Epel.

-With Vil at first things were not simple, you see, he was VERY extasic to had the direct descendant of the Beautiful Queen in his dorm so he was often rambling to Raven about how an honor it was to have her in Pomefiore, how great the Beautiful Queen was and how proud she must be to had the Beautiful Queen as her ancestor.

-This make Raven really unconfortable, she don’t know what answer to this all her life her lineage was paint to her as just being evil and now she was ina place where the Evil Queen was see as a hero. Honestly she don’t know how to process all this.

-This and she had some diseagrements with him about his obsession with beauty.

-As for Rook, well, he was nice with a charming but again: over-complimenting a bit annoying and in his case to the umpteenth power as if she suddenly become Apple.

-However she prefer not tell them about her disconfort ‘cause she’s scare to sound rude and offend them so she keep it to herself.

-At one moment, Epel took her aside to talk to her ‘cause he notice for a time that she seemed to be bothered by something.

-After he insisted, Raven finally explain to him what was wrong.

-After she said her piece about everything, Epel, rather shocked about what Raven gone through at her former school, was about to say something when they suddenly facing two shocked Vil and Rook who hear everything.

-Raven was about to say something only to be cut by Vil who say to her with a worried voice something like “You silly potatoe! Why didn’t you tell us a thing?”

-The four then got a long conversation during which they set the record stray:

1)She wasn’t in her former school anymore nobody is going to scold her for being who she want to be.

2)What her former headmaster and her former classmates tried to force her to do was wrong and she was in the right to stood up for herself.

3)She don’t had to be scared to tell what she think.

4)They’re her dormmates and by so if she had a problem or anything which is on her mind she can come see them for help.

5)”And please don’t be a stupid potatoe next time you feel like this and come to us to talk about it! Keeping all those negative emotions to yourself is not healthy at all!”

-Raven was surprised by hown this turned but she was also happy they didn’t reject her.

-After this conversation her relationship with her dormmates get better.

-The others classmates even noticed that Vil was strangely more and more invested into Raven’s well-being.

-Like for exemple, she show big problems of control of her magic? Vil go explain the situation to the headmaster in order for Raven to had tutoring with a experimented student to learn to control her magic.

-Or when some students surprised her singing and Cater even recorded her telling how good her singing is and that she should try the light music club? Vil made Rook fetch Raven(of course in a Rook style and by that I mean “take Raven by surprise and bring her to Vil while holding her like a bride”) and after discussing it with her he encourage her to join the light music club if she want.

-The others students joke that Vil act as a brother version of a mother hen even if Vil deny it. But one thing is clear in the students mind: whatever Vil is deny it or not Raven was now Vil’s honorary little sister.

C.A. Cupid at Pomefiore:

- Although she is still shaken about what happen with Apple at Ever After High, Cupid is intrigued by her new school, curious about the new possibilities to help people’s heart.

-She’s also very happy to see Raven once again and to be in the same dorm than her.

-When she learn that Pomefiore is based on the heavy efforts of the Beautiful Queen she though that that fit her perfectly, ‘cause after all the beauty of the heart is also an amazing thing and she put many great efforts in it.

-She barely get into Pomefiore that she begin to give advices to people who seemed to need it.

-Quickly words about her goes around the school and soon many others students came to see her for an advice.

-Face to all those students wanting her advices Cupid decided to re-create her radio show so like this students from NRC would be able to ask her for advices and got an direct answer.

-After talking about it to the headmaster Crowley and recruting some students she found the Night Raven College’s radio station.

-The radio got different show, Cupid’s is about love advice.

-In a matter of time the new school’s radio become very popular among the students.

Poppy O'Hair at Pomefiore:

-When she entered in the Night Raven College, Poppy was rather wary.

-She an undirect victim of Apple ‘cause she targered Holly accusing the girl to be too beautiful and to knew about the "Snow White” story too much to her taste.

-Because of this Poppy is very worried about Holly’s well-being, even after their transfer,  so when the sisters have been sorted in two different dorms she wasn’t at ease at all.

-Fortunatly Raven reassured her many times to not worry about Holly and that she will be fine at Octavinelle.

-She often go find her sister at lunch time to ensure herself that Holly was okay.

-To vent her stress Poppy begin to draw fashion designs more than usual to keep herself mentally busy.

-One day she looked at all the designs she created, she made so many of them, so many she want to make real.

-Unfortunatly the only way to make it possible would be through a club, but  there’s no fashion club in NRC.

-Then she think “if there’s no fashion club then why not creating one?”

-So with her new objective she gather all informations she need to create her club.

-She prepared all the documentation, found students, mainly from her dorm, who were interested to be members including Lizzie and Ashlynn.

-She then present her project to the teacher who she heard could be a potential teacher councelor for the club: Divus Crewel.

-When the teacher took a look at Poppy’s club project he become interested and told her he will present the project to the headmaster and will accept to be the councelor of this club if it approved.

-Some times later an hyperactive Divus Crewel burst in headmaster Crowley’s office while screaming “DIRE YOU NEED TO APPROVE FOR THE CREATION OF THIS CLUB RIGHT NOW!”

-And so the fashion club was officialy created

-The club took comissions from others students which with the money allow them then to create bigger projects.

-Even though Vil is not a member of the club he often model for them.

-He even post pictures of himself wearing the fashion club’s creations on his MagiCam giving the club a big exposure.

-Soon the fashion club become very popular and the school even turn to the club for making clothes for school events.

-Poppy even get commissions from celebrities.

FRB 121102 a été localisée, dans une galaxie naine !

Il y a deux semaines, je vous racontais la découverte de nouvelles bouffées rapides d’ondes radio observées dans la source FRB 121102, la bouffée d’onde radio la plus bizarre des 18 connues à ce jour, les FRB étant elles-mêmes parmi les phénomènes les plus bizarres et les moins bien compris aujourd’hui. De nombreuses équipes s’intéressant naturellement à cette source, l’une d’elle vient enfin de trouver où se situe exactement FRB 121102 : dans une toute petite galaxie distante de plus de 3 milliards d’années-lumière.

La plupart des astrophysiciens, à partir de l’étalement spectral (la dispersion) du rayonnement radio de FRB 121102, pensaient bien qu’elle devait se situer bien au-delà de notre galaxie. C’est désormais démontré par la trouvaille de la galaxie hôte de l’objet produisant cette bouffée rapide d’ondes radio. Connaissant la distance plus précisément, les astrophysiciens peuvent maintenant mieux calculer l’énergie émise par cette source et donc plus facilement contraindre quelle peut être son origine, toujours inconnue.

FRB 121102 est la seule FRB à ce jour à avoir été observée plusieurs fois, de manière répétitive mais de façon très aléatoire. C’est cette multiplicité de bouffées qui a permis sa localisation précise grâce à des observations effectuées avec le Karl Jansky Very Large Array (Nouveau-Mexique). En scrutant la région d’origine des premières bouffées durant 6 mois avec un total de 83 heures d'observations, les chercheurs ont réussi à détecter 9 nouvelles bouffées rapides. Ils ont également détecté par la même occasion une faible émission radio provenant de la même région du ciel.

A partir de la position de ces nouvelles bouffées, l’équipe d’astrophysiciens a pointé le télescope Gemini North (Hawaï) dans cette direction et a enfin trouvé une galaxie très faible qui coïncide parfaitement avec cette position. Des mesures du décalage spectral de la lumière de la galaxie ont fourni immédiatement sa distance qui est de 972 Mpc (3,17 milliards d’années-lumière). Shami Chatterjee (Cornell University), Shriharsh Tendulkar (Université McGuill), Benito Marcotte (VLBI) et leurs collègues montrent ainsi que l’énergie dégagée lors d’une de ces bouffées d’ondes radio en l’espace de 5 ms surpasse l’énergie rayonnée par toutes les étoiles de sa galaxie hôte.

Cette découverte importante est détaillée dans pas moins de trois articles, le premier dans Nature cette semaine et les deux autres dans the Astrophysical Journal Letters. La galaxie hôte de FRB 121102 est une toute petite galaxie dont la masse n’est seulement que de un millième de celle de notre galaxie pour une dimension dix fois inférieure.

Ce qui surprend les chercheurs c’est justement cette pauvreté de la galaxie hôte en étoiles, même si elle montre un taux de formation d'étoiles assez soutenu pour une galaxie de ce type (0,4 masses solaires par an). Comme on estime que la source de ces FRB devrait préférentiellement être des étoiles à neutrons, des pulsars fortement magnétisés, on devrait plutôt les rencontrer dans un environnement riche en étoiles. D’un autre côté, les galaxies naines ont la particularité de contenir du gaz contenant peu d’éléments plus lourds que l’hélium et donc sujettes à produire des étoiles plus massives, et qui dit étoiles massives dit supernovas et donc production de pulsars.

Mais l’hypothèse pulsar n’est pas la seule. Les nouvelles données du VLA, qui montrent la présence d’une source radio continue très proche de la localisation de la FRB suggèrent que cette dernière est voisine d’un trou noir supermassif (à l’origine de la source radio continue).

L'équipe internationale a donc cherché à détailler plus précisément ces différentes sources radio, grâce à d'autres radiotélescopes comme le VLBI, Arecibo et le VLBA. Ils sont parvenus à déterminer que la distance entre le point d'origine de FRB 121102 et la source radio continue n'excédait pas 100 années-lumière !

Il se pourrait alors qu’il s’agisse du même objet et que les bouffées rapides soient liées à de la matière tombant dans le trou noir. 

Les deux hypothèses sont donc toujours possibles. Les galaxies naines sont d'ailleurs connues pour abriter avec une plus grande probabilité des bouffées longues de rayons gamma et des supernovas superlumineuses... Nous sommes peut-être également en présence d'un mix des deux hypothèses, un magnétar produisant des effets à proximité d'un trou noir supermassif, ce qui expliquerait la rareté de ces observations.

Quoi qu'il en soit, maintenant que les astronomes connaissent la galaxie d’origine de ces émissions radio surprenantes, ils vont pouvoir scruter dans toutes les longueurs d’ondes possibles cette galaxie naine à l’allure insignifiante, pour comprendre l’origine exacte du phénomène.

L’élément crucial à mettre en évidence sera l’existence ou non d’une pulsation ayant une fréquence de répétition donnée dans les signaux. Cela indiquerait un phénomène lié à une rotation, donc plutôt un pulsar. La surveillance d’autres FRB en tentant de trouver si leur galaxie hôte, si ils en ont une, est aussi une galaxie naine, permettrait aussi de déterminer si FRB 121102 est un phénomène très particulier ou bien si il est  typique de toutes les FRB.
