uh uh uh OC questions!! hehehe yesss >:] For Sookie 30. Who do they most regret meeting? For Aaron 21. Why do they get up in the morning? For Noah 27. What causes them to feel dread? For Tristan 28. Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth? And for Astrid 34. How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt? And for you of course (and any or all of them) H) What trait of theirs do you admire most? :>
Waaaaah thank you so much for all the questions! ;v; <3
This will be quite long omg
Sookie - Who do they most regret meeting?
Aside from like half her classmates back in high school, who were bullying her for being "the weird comic book geek" I'd say… Aaron. He's not only the type of villain who embodies everything she hates (arrogance, possessiveness, narcissism, etc.) after their first encounter he wouldn't leave her alone anymore. He's planning any kind of evil schemes to lure her into a trap, to catch her attention and to eventually "make her his", as he developed a crush on her. And Sookie gets incredibly mad and annoyed by him, as the only one she really loves is Noah…
Tumblr media
Aaron - Why do they get up in the morning?
There was a time when the only thing that would get him out of bed were his inventions and robots, he could tinker on. Now he has other reasons like his cat Giselle, who he wants to care for. (He loves her very much <3) And (as weirdly as this sounds looking at the previous question) another reason would be Shelter/Sookie and their encounters. It's the only thing that really excites him and lets him forget about his "boring" life. (As already mentioned, he has a crush on her and since he never felt like this to anyone before he wants to... "explore" these feelings.)
Noah - What causes them to feel dread?
There isn't much that Noah is scared of… except Spiders. If he has to fight a bunch of giant spiders I guess he would die of fear immediately xD But what would cause him to feel real dread is if Sookie or any other of his loved ones (his mother, his best friend) would be in danger, something that could threaten their life and he wouldn't be able to save them.
Tristan - Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
No. He hates if somebody lies to him. And he rather wants to know the cruel reality than being under an illusion. (That doesn't mean that he hasn't lied himself before, he actually did lie to others if it was necessary xD)
Astrid - How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
It's really really hard for her. If it's something grave she feels guilty for, she would lie awake at night, thinking about it and how she could make up for it. (the first night after she started working together with Tristan - a criminal in her eyes back then - she didn't sleep a wink)
What trait of theirs do you admire most?
Sookie - her kindness and will to help. She tries to see good in everyone. :>
Noah - his sarcasm xD And I think his tolerance and acceptance towards any kind of people? He puts others needs first instead of his own, for example he also accepts Sookie's boundaries and loves her for who she is <3
Aaron - His confidence. Even though some family issues and other bad sh*t that happened to him, he knows that he's of worth.
Tristan - Everything. Uhhh I think his patience. He can stay quite calm in stressful situations most of the time. ovo (Which is funny because contrary to his fire-magic-powers, he's not impatient or aggressive xD)
Astrid - Her determination. When she sets her mind on doing something, there's nothing that can stop her.

Several weeks down the road, I finally felt as though I was making some progress.  Thorin had slowly but steadily begun to teach me more words and phrases in Khuzdul and I finally felt as though I could hold a basic conversation in that language.
But it was strange.  Ever since I had talked with Fili and Kili, they seemed intent on making me see Thorin in a different light as well as discovering why I didn't know Khuzdul.  They dropped hints about Thorin to see my reactions--the most memorable being Kili's attempt at romanticizing Thorin's figure.
"But how could you think he wants harm to befall you?"  Kili asked in a whisper as he sat beside me in front of the crackling fire.  "I mean, I would have thought you'd have fallen for him.  Most women gaze forlornly after him whenever we're in a tavern somewhere or out in public."
I saw no need to inform Kili that I had indeed fallen for Thorin, but was trying to push aside those feelings.  "I'm not 'most women' Kili.  I prefer a different sort."  I lied, and Kili grinned at me, scooting closer.
"Oh yeah?  What is your type then?  Obviously not burly Dwarrows with bulging muscles, dark beards and steel blue eyes who like brooding and talk in deep voices."  He said, mimicking Thorin's voice and Fili gave his brother an odd look as he walked by.
I laughed, shaking my head at Kili's description of Thorin.  This just egged Kili on till Thorin walked by, and Kili abruptly stopped, unwilling to invoke the wrath of his uncle.  Once Thorin had passed by, Kili resumed his questions.
"So, what is your type?  Am I attractive to you?"  He asked teasingly, and I shrugged my shoulders, unwilling to verbally answer the question.  "What about Fili?  Do you like him?"
I wrinkled my nose, making Kili laugh.  "I don't like either of you in that way, Kili..."  I said, and Kili grinned at me.
"Good, because I'm a taken Dwarrow."  He said, getting a faraway look in his eyes.  I raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, you are?"  I asked, and Kili nodded, a soft smile replacing his cheeky grin.
"Aye.  I've got a lass waiting back in the Blue Mountains for me to return and bring her to Erebor once we reclaim it."  He said in a quiet voice, and I nodded.
"Is she pretty?"  I questioned, and Kili chuckled, ducking his head as pink began to tinge his stubbled cheeks.
"Oh Mahal, yes.  She's a goddess.  Long brown hair that is as soft as a rabbit pelt and gorgeous green eyes that shine like emeralds."  He said reverently, "Mahal knows how I ever got her to marry me in the first place..."
"Wait, so you're married?"  I said in disbelief, and Kili nodded slowly, the mischievous look reentering his brown eyes.
"That I am.  We had one glorious year together before I left with the Company...  I miss her more every day."  He said softly, his smile turning morose.
"I'm sure she misses you too."  I murmured, resting a hand on Kili's shoulder.  "It's hard to be away from the ones you love."
After that long and interesting conversation where I had learned more about Kili than I knew about Thorin, I had time to ponder my own relationship with the latter.  Weirdly enough, my interactions with Thorin had become less strained the more time we spent together as he taught me Khuzdul.  It almost gave me hope that one day I would find my feelings reciprocated in him.  Almost.
There were still many times when Thorin was gruff and cold towards me, and although I was able to hide it, I still felt hurt that he didn't like me.
"Miss Estel, if you would remove your head from the clouds, we could continue learning."  Thorin's annoyed voice broke me from my thoughts, and I quickly glanced over at where he leaned against a tree, illuminated by the fire's dancing flames as he cleaned his dagger.
"Sorry, I just got caught up in my thoughts; remembering."  I said quietly, and Thorin nodded tersely.
"So I noticed.  But back to the subject at hand.  Do you remember the colours I was teaching you this morning?"  He asked, and I nodded.
"Yes.  Ziriz, narag, and khagal.  Gold, black and blue."  I said, and Thorin nodded approvingly.
"Galikh.  That means good."  He said, and I thought I saw the barest hint of a smile for a moment.  But then it was gone, as though it had never existed.
Which, knowing Thorin, was probably true.
"Master Thorin, Kili and Fili said something earlier today that has been puzzling me.  I was wondering if you could tell me what it meant."  I began hesitantly, and Thorin raised an eyebrow, glancing up from the knife he had been cleaning.
"Fili and Kili said this, you say?"  He asked, and I nodded.
"Yeah.  I think it was meant in jest, but I cannot be sure."
"What was it?"  Thorin asked, and I struggled to recall the unfamiliar words Fili and Kili had murmured to me, gesturing towards Thorin as he led us.
"It was something like 'zatagbiri ibriz khama asti'."  I said, sounding out the words slowly.  Thorin's sapphire blue eyes widened, and his grip on the dagger tightened.
"Did you understand any of it?"  He asked, gaze becoming murderous.  I took a step away as he began to walk towards me, shaking my head.
"Not really, I recognized 'he' and 'forge' and 'you, but that was it."  I said rapidly, but Thorin just shook his head.
"I have no idea what I'm going to do with those two lulkhs..."  He groaned, stroking his chin with a hand.
I was about to ask what the phrase meant when Gloin approached Thorin.  "Thorin, it's your turn on the night watch.  Dwalin's next."  He said, and Thorin nodded to him.
"Alright."
Gloin headed away from us, leaving Thorin and I alone once more.  I turned to look at him only to find his eyes already resting on me.
"Would you mind if I joined you on the watch?"  I asked softly, "you could teach me more."
Thorin shrugged, his gaze still dark.  "I do not mind.  Just keep in mind that we will be moving on early tomorrow morning."  He said, and the hidden meaning behind his words made me bite my lip.
Of course he had to try and find a flaw somewhere.  If I stayed up late with him, there was no excuse for me being tired tomorrow.
Tossing my hair back, I gave him a look.  "I will be fine."  I said firmly and began to walk out into the forest to scout the perimeter of our camp a bit.
"Miss Estel, you stay here; closer to camp."  Thorin suddenly said, striding after me.  Ignoring his obvious attempt to 'protect' me--the helpless woman--I continued walking onwards.  "Miss Estel!"  Thorin growled, and I sensed his temper rising at my silence.
But then I walked out into a clearing bathed in moonlight and stopped dead.  Tilting my head upwards, I let out a soft gasp as I saw thousands of stars twinkling brightly in the sky.
"It's so beautiful..."  I whispered, a smile spreading across my face at the wondrous sight.  It had been far too long since I had last taken the time to look up at the stars; something I used to do regularly back in Lothlorien.
"Miss Estel," Thorin's voice came from behind me, and I turned to look at him, smiling brightly.
"Isn't it beautiful?"  I asked softly, and Thorin's brow furrowed even as I watched his sapphire eyes soften.
"What?"  He asked in a low voice, and I gestured up at the sky.
"The stars.  Aren't they beautiful?"  I asked again, and Thorin turned his gaze skyward for a moment before looking back at me, a strange expression on his face.
"I suppose so...  But we better get back to the camp.  We're supposed to be on watch."  He said, motioning for me to follow him.  But I shook my head.
"It'll be okay for a couple minutes.  I haven't had the chance to properly star-gaze since I joined this Company," I said.  "Have you ever star-gazed?"
Thorin shook his head, and I let out a gasp of surprise.  "How is that even possible?!  Come here!"  I hurried over to him and grabbed his hand in mine, dragging him into the clearing.  Surprisingly, he didn't resist, and I shot a glance back at him to find him staring at me with wide blue eyes, the faintest dusting of pink tinging his cheeks.  How strange.
Really, surprise wasn't that good of a look on him.  I preferred that strong, brooding exterior; if only he would smile more.  I had seen him smile at Fili and Kili as well as Dwalin, and it only made me fall for him more.  His blue eyes would shine as his broad frame shook with laughter; making my heart skip a beat.
Sitting down, I tugged on his hand to get him to join me, which he reluctantly proceeded to do.  "This is a bad idea.  We could be ambushed and--"
"Shh... Lie back and be quiet.  Just forget about all that for a minute."  I said, lying back and staring up at the sky.  "Just look up at the stars."
Thorin let out a sigh as he reclined beside me, our shoulders barely touching.  It was like my dreams had come to life.
We sat in silence for a long while, just looking up at the sky and taking in all of its beauty.  Then I caught sight of a shooting star.
"Thorin, look!  A shooting star!  Make a wish!"  I murmured excitedly, closing my eyes as I made mine; wishing that I could see my Naneth again someday.  She was in my thoughts more often the Thorin it seemed at times.  I missed her more than life itself.
Opening my eyes, I turned my head to look at Thorin.  Hearing the grass rustle as I did so, he turned to look at me.  "What did you wish for?"  He asked curiously, and I laughed.
"I can't tell you...  Then the wish won't come true!"  I laughed, and Thorin nodded slowly, turning his gaze back up at the stars.
"I see then."  He rumbled, and we both became quiet again.
At least, until my curiosity rose within me.  "Thorin?"  I asked quietly, "what's the word for 'star'?"
Thorin was quiet for a moment, "Thatr."  He answered, and I mouthed it once before trying to pronounce it.
"Tha-tur?"  I tried, glancing over at the Dwarrow beside me as he nodded an affirmation.
"Yes, that's right."
I smiled to myself, watching as another shooting star passed across the night sky.  Another wish; another moment.
"What is your story?  The wizard has never mentioned where he met you, and it puzzles me why a Dwarrowdame such as yourself does not know the language of the Dwarves."  Thorin suddenly spoke, and I took in a deep breath.
I had hoped these questions would never be asked of me.
"As I said before, Master Thorin, it is personal."  I said quietly, trying to shut down this conversation before it could start.
But Thorin refused to let it go.  "Are you an orphan?  Is that why you never learned Khuzdul?"  He asked, sitting up and looking down at me.
I sat up also, looking over at him with a guarded expression.  "That is my own business, Master Thorin.  Now if you'll excuse me, I believe it is time for the next watch to relieve us."  I murmured, rising to my feet and heading towards the camp.
"As the leader of this Company, I believe I have a right to know your backstory.  For all I know you are intent on stealing the gold within Erebor's halls for yourself."  Thorin's deep voice stopped me in my tracks, and I turned slowly to look at him.
Did he really want to tread down this path?  Questioning my integrity and loyalty?
"Gandalf wouldn't have allowed me to come along if he didn't believe I was trustworthy."  I said coolly, staring at Thorin as I silently dared him to question me more.  If he wanted the truth, he would get it.
But he remained silent, and I turned away from him to continue towards the warmth of the fire, apprehension building in the pit of my stomach.  I knew that someday my past would come to light; it was inevitable, but I feared the day it did.
Eru only knew what Thorin would do to me once he knew of my Elvish upbringing.

“Why don’t you guys just give up?” you groaned to the mirror in front of you. I’ve been here for five hours, and my story hasn’t changed. That means I’m telling the truth, right?”
On the other side of the glass, Morgan argued your case. “They’re right. They haven’t confessed to anything since we brought them in. Are we sure we have the right person?”
“We have to,” rebutted Emily, “All of the victims were ride-sharers. They were all summoned to Y/n’s house, and that’s the last place the victims were heard from. Y/n has to be our unsub.”
“I’m going back in,” announced Hotch. His gaze was set on the interrogation room.
Rossi shook his head. “Come on, Hotch. Give it a break. We’ll send someone else in there to throw Y/n off...How about Reid?”
The younger agent glanced up from the report he was reading, clearly taken off guard. “What?”
Hotch dismissed the offer. “No. I think, at this point, we’ll have better luck with someone Y/n is familiar with.”
“Hey! Welcome back!” you greeted in a way-too-chipper fashion. “Decided to take another shot at me?”
Hotchner didn’t respond to your question. He took the seat in front of you. “Let’s entertain the idea, for a moment, that you didn’t do it. Can you think of anyone who would? Someone who has access to your ride-sharing accounts and your home?”
You were quiet for just a second longer than normal. “I have no clue. Isn’t it your job to catch the--what do you guys call them?--the unsub?”
Hotch was just starting his response when the door opened.
“Y/n, why didn’t you call me?” the man at the door inquired.
“Who are you?” Hotch asked the obvious question.
The mystery man was affronted. “I am Y/n’s lawyer. Now I’m assuming none of you feds bothered to check my client’s local traffic cameras, because the footage clearly shows every victim’s car driving away from my client’s home. Maybe, just maybe, the victims logged out of their ride-sharing accounts. Did that ever occur to you?”
The lawyer took over the room. He made it impossible to talk over him. Yet, Hotch barely paid attention to him. Hotch’s eyes were on you.
As soon as the lawyer entered, you shut down. You were no longer as outspoken as Hotch was used to. You wouldn’t even look up. You kept your eyes glued to the interrogation table.
Before Hotch could argue, the lawyer announced, “I’m taking Y/n with me. You feds can have them back if you ever get any actual evidence against them.”
The lawyer stormed out of the interrogation room with you in tow.
Meanwhile, in the observation room, Morgan made a phone call. “Garcia, why didn’t we know that cameras in the area picked up the victims’ cars leaving L/n’s house?”
“What?” the technical analyst was flabbergasted, offended even. “Honey, who do you take me for? I checked the footage of every camera within three blocks. And let me tell you, nothing--What in the world?” All the time she had been talking, Garcia had been typing away at her keyboard. Just because she was good at her job, she was rechecking the cameras in question. “This doesn’t make any sense,” she gawked at her computer screen.
Derek was feeling left out. “What? What is it?”
“Well, the cameras show the cars leaving Y/n’s house now, but they didn’t before,” Garcia explained. “That wouldn’t make any sense...unless...hang on...”
Morgan heard more frantic typing over the phone.
“Yep. I was right. This footage was doctored,” informed the technical analyst, “Someone replaced the old footage with new footage of the cars driving away.”
Morgan chuckled, “I’m sorry I ever doubted you.”
“Don’t worry,” Garcia seductively reassured, “You can make it up to me when you get home.”
“You know I will,” Derek played along before hanging up. “Hotch, the lawyer was lying,” Morgan informed his boss as Hotch entered the room. “The footage he was talking about was altered.”
Rossi wondered, “Who could it have been altered by?”
“Guys, you aren’t going to believe this.” JJ came bursting into the room.
Apparently, the security cameras out side the police station caught you and your lawyer kissing before getting into his car to leave.
“So, Y/n has an accomplice. Maybe he’s the guy who hacked into the cameras on Y/n’s street while we had Y/n here,” assumed Derek.
“I agree with him doing the hacking,” Hotch admitted, “My guess is it’s either the lawyer himself, or somebody working for him. However, I don’t think he’s Y/n’s accomplice. I believe he has more to do with this than Y/n does.”
Reid was as intrigued as the rest of the team. “What makes you think that?”
Hotch asked, “Did any of you see how Y/n responded when he walked into the room?”
JJ was the first to respond. “No, all of my attention was on the idiot in a suit that wouldn’t let you get a word in.”
The rest of the team seemed to agree with the blonde agent.
“Well, as soon as he showed up, Y/n completely shut down,” explained Hotch, “They seemed entirely submissive to him, and even frightened. I believe our unsub is the lawyer.”
Rossi inquired, “What are we waiting for? Let’s go catch the guy!”
“We shouldn’t have let them go,” Hotch rebuked, “Now we don’t know where they are.”
“Excuse me?” a lower-level detective entered the room and informed the team, “We got a strange call. They said they were the suspect that was just here, they told us to trace the call, and they haven’t spoken since.”
Hotch was immediately on high alert. “That’s Y/n telling us where they are. You have their location?” he asked the detective.
The detective nodded and read an address from a piece of paper. “Alright, let’s go,” Hotch began to follow most of the team out of the room, but Rossi stopped him.
“Hotch, are you sure about this?” he questioned. “This may well be a trap that both the lawyer and Y/n set up.”
The lead agent shook his head. “I don’t think so, Rossi. The body language I saw...it’s not something you can fake.
“Whoa there,” David looked Aaron over. “That wouldn’t be infatuation I’m seeing, would it?”
Hotch returned eye contact with Rossi so Rossi wouldn’t think he was faking anything...which Aaron definitely wasn’t...probably. “You know it isn’t. I barely know this person.”
“That’s right,” confirmed Rossi. “Now you just need to make sure you don’t forget that.”
Hotchner didn’t spare Rossi another glance as he exited.
The ride to the address, which Garcia snooped out to be the lawyer’s (your boyfriend’s) house, was quiet. Everyone had time to think, including a certain supervisory special agent, whose mind was set on his feelings for you.
Peacefulness would prove to be a true comfort because once the BAU arrived, the situation was thrown into chaos. As the SUVs pulled up, gunshots sounded from inside the residence. The team, as orderly as they could, rushed from their cars and toward the home. When they got through the door, they saw you and the lawyer. The lawyer had a gun to your throat.
“Don’t do anything stupid,” warned Morgan.
JJ ordered, “Put the gun down!”
“Oh, good,” your tone was disproportionately relieved in the face of your condition, “You got my phone call.” Your eyes were on Aaron in particular.
The lawyer started to ramble. “It’s all your fault,” he was talking to you. “You just had to be taken in by the cops. We had a good thing going, you and I. You gave me no other choice other than to pin it on you when you were stupid enough to practically turn yourself in. I even tried to give you the easy way out by taking you back home and ending you myself. Then, you go and call the FBI. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you love them more than me at this point.”
“Yeah, I think it’s safe to say that, too.” You laughed without an once of humor involved. “You tricked me into being with you in college and roped into your psychopathic life. I’m done being too afraid of you to say anything.”
The lawyer tightened his grip on you and the gun dug further into your neck. “I liked you better when you didn’t talk at all.”
“You don’t have the authority to say that,” Hotch suddenly argued. “They’re not yours anymore.”
    You gaze toward Hotch changed.
Hotch looked right at you when he finished, “They’re mine now.”
Despite your position, your eye brows raised in surprise.
“What did you just say?” the lawyer dared Hotch to repeat himself.
The leader did so without hesitance. “I said Y/n is mine. Even after spending so little time in the interrogation room together, I convinced them to choose me over you.”
“Shut up,” the lawyer gritted out.
Hotch continued, “You must be pretty inconsequential for it to be so easy for me to--”
“Shut up!” exploded the lawyer. In his fury, he took his gun off your neck and pointed it at Hotchner..
As soon as he did that, the whole team shot him down, including Aaron.
A string of relieved, yet also very bewildered curses left your mouth as you crouched down to the ground before your knees buckled. You were less than a foot from you dead boyfriend’s body.
Hotch ignored everything else and went to you first. “Come on,” he invited, “Let’s get you out of here.”
The next time you spoke, you and Hotch were sitting facing out the back of an ambulances. “So, how much time in prison am I looking at?” you wondered aloud to the FBI agent next to you.
He shrugged, “None, most likely. You were under duress the whole relationship, and from what I can tell, you had nothing to do with what he was actually doing. I’ll give you the number of a good lawyer I know. She should be able to get you out of this without jail time.”
“It just doesn’t seem fair,” you agonized, “I shouldn’t get to just walk away.”
Hotch turned his gaze toward you. “If it’s any consolation, it’s not going to be that easy. You’re going to carry this with you the rest of your life. I’ll give you the numbers of some therapists I know, too. It helps to talk about all this.” He handed you his business card.
“Wow. I should’ve known the FBI agent would be connected,” you joked softly. Then, you turned it over.
Aaron’s personal number was on the back. “And if you ever want to talk to me, you know, about anything. I’ll-I’ll be here.”
“Thank you,” your gentle, tired voice remarked. “I’ll take you up on that, Agent Hotchner.”
    “Aaron, please,” he assured.
    You smiled, “Aaron.”

author’s note:   the next two chapters will serve as an introduction and presentation of the characters and timeline!
as I have already warned in the presentation chapter this is a translation of my original fanfiction (written in my language), so I hope there are no big mistakes, however I wanted to try to write it in english hoping it won't make your eyes bleed. (;´д`)ゞ
forgive me if there is any mistake, I am not very good at translating, so if you have any suggestions about it, it is absolutely welcome.(。・∀・)ノ゙

"Every man is surrounded by
a neighborhood of voluntary spies."
┈┈┈┈․° ☣ °․┈┈┈┈ 02 おじいちゃんシュウ (grandpa shū)
"IT'S MUCH FURTHER?" UNMEI ASKED, LOOKING AROUND.
The Kamino district in Yokohama, despite the late hour, was full of life. The shops still had their shutters raised, even restaurants and bars were in full swing.
Overlooking the sidewalks with pinkish tiles were only commercial activities and some frightened offices. The houses were far from that area. And Unmei could easily understand why.
In Kamino, there was no distinction between night and day. The neighborhood vibrated with life: whether it was the shouts of excited children shopping just out of school or the drunken laughter once the sun went down, there was little difference.
In that neighborhood, every sense was amplified to the point of no longer knowing where to look. Unmei glanced at the groups of people she could glimpse between one building and another, where some secondary alley overlooked the street.
Kamino district was a strange choice for a headquarters.
The streets were always crowded and, as much as she and the man who had introduced himself as Twice, were carefully avoiding the main road, there was still the possibility that some passersby could see them moving in the shadow.
Her eyes lingered once more on his companion's back, the suit stretched with each step on the sculpted muscles, adhering like a second skin. The fabric didn't creak like the cheap clothes of the little criminals who could not afford anything else.
No. The group that Twice claimed to be part of was undoubtedly not unwary.
Probably the choice to hide in a commercial district had been considered. The continuous exchange of activities would have made their come and go unnoticed. Moreover, in such a large neighborhood with such a massive turnout of people and new faces, their presence would have gone unnoticed, hidden between tourists and customers visiting the area.
Unmei had only heard rumors about the League of Villains. It was a whispered name, in the darkest alleys. The most disparate gossip had spread across them.
Some insinuated that Stain was part of it before being arrested and disappeared from circulation, others believed that it was an unscrupulous and unregulated madman who commanded it. The most skeptical were convinced that it no longer existed, given the blow received after the attack on the USJ.
Of course, Unmei would now find out the truth about them. And she had to admit that she was rather curious about them.
That type of organized crime was rare. Usually, the most extensive criminal groups were foiled even before they could succeed in their first venture, the League of Villains instead, not only had managed to gather under their control more than fifty criminals, but they had had the audacity and the possibility of attack one of the most prestigious high schools of heroes in the country. And apparently, their boss had managed to escape capture.
And given the interest in her, he was looking for recruits.
An inviting scent of octopus teased her nostrils. Somewhere there must have been a Takoyaki kiosk.
That delicious smell reached her like a boulder to her stomach, reminding her that she hadn't dined yet.
She looked crookedly at the man walking in front of her as he juggled the back streets that lined the main street of the commercial district.
"Hey you, I asked a question," repeated Unmei, raising her voice more "It's not like you're lost, huh?"
"LOST?! Me? NEVER!" Twice cried, startled, in the deepest and harshest voice that the girl had understood to be his most aggressive and unpredictable personality.
"A little more patience, Unmei-chan" the gentle voice informed her, Twice turned slightly, winking at her "We are almost there, but first we just have to make a small detour."
Unmei frowned, ignoring the nickname and wondering what prompted her to accept such a proposal from such a strange guy.
She was still alert, ready for any man's move. As far as she knew, that of the League of Villains could be a bait to catch her in a trap.
Ever since she had managed to make her way into the underworld, laboriously sewing a name among the best thieves in the city, tranquility had only been a mirage.
There was no honor among the criminals and, by killing her, some idiot was convinced that he could become famous or take possession of her customers by trying to cut short the apprenticeship and the hard work necessary to survive in that cruel world of criminals. But at the moment, Unmei had shown that getting her out of the way was not that easy.
She had worked hard to be where she was and would not have allowed some too self-confident rookie to ruin everything.
The smell of octopus was more intense now, and Unmei could feel her mouth fill with saliva at the thought of it.
Her frustration was about to cry out again against Twice, worsened by the sense of emptiness that had gripped her stomach, when, turning the corner, they found themselves in front of what seemed like a mirage to Unmei.
"We will stop here for a second before we go to our destination!" the masked man informed her, stepping aside to show her better the small stall wedged in a corner between one building and another.
It was small and dug inside the cement. A colored sign of shiny fabric, with a fat angry octopus drawn, waved above it, hiding the face of the man who was skillfully turning small fish balls in the pan.
Swirls of smoke came from the sides of the small shop filling the narrow alley with the inviting smell of fish.
Unmei's eyes widened, and her mouth remained ajar for a moment, "A Takoyaki kiosk?" she asked, confused, returning to stare at her strange companion, frowning. "Was this the deviation?"
Twice nodded, proud of himself, raising the index finger of his right hand, "You didn't have dinner, didn't you Unmei-chan?"
"As if I don't give a damn!" shouted the other himself, but Twice ignored him.
"Don't worry, he's an old friend," the man reassured her, pointing to the figure hidden by the sign "he'll keep our secret," he added, bringing his index finger over the mask, where his lips should have been.
Unmei continued to stare at him, trying to figure out if he was catching her or if it was just a trap. When Twice saw that the girl did not even take a step towards the kiosk, he preceded her, "Come on, I'm starving."
"Ungrateful!"
Unmei took a few more moments before deciding to move forward and follow that curious man with an uncertain step, checking the surroundings to be sure that someone would suddenly not attack her from behind.
"Grandpa!" Twice's gentle voice rang in the alley when his face disappeared covered by the kiosk sign.
"Old bastard!" muttered the roughest voice.
"Oh, Jin... are you passing by or on business?" a third voice joined the other two. It was rough and croaking, so low that Unmei could barely hear it above the sizzle of the grill.
The girl lifted a flap of the sign with her arm, carefully studying the kiosk interior. It looked like a typical stall like the ones on the main roads. And its owner must have been as old as it was.
He was short; to get to the pans, he was forced to climb onto a small stool. His calloused and wrinkled hands moved expertly on the grill and cutting the ingredients, sometimes without even needing to look.
His face seemed kind and friendly, but Unmei had learned never to trust first impressions.
He might have looked like a normal old man, grey bald and aching, bent over himself with bone pain, but the speed with which his fingers and hands juggled that platform made it clear that he wasn't as harmless as he wanted to believe.
"Business, I'm taking a friend for a visit, and she was starving," Twice informed him, sitting down on one of the stools. When he got into his chair, he let out a sigh of relief, stretching his back with an exaggerated movement.
In that short time with him, the girl had understood that he was an extraordinarily theatrical and melodramatic type. As if the dual personality was not enough.
Perhaps noticing her gaze fixed on him, Twice turned to the young woman, gesturing for her to sit next to him, clapping the wooden seat with one hand. "Don't be shy, Unmei-chan."
Unmei lingered a second, looking around one last time.
"Don't worry," the old man reassured her, Unmei looked at him sideways "nobody will hurt you here, you're safe" he continued while checking the cooking of the Takoyaki, without even raising his eyes on her.
The girl's lips raised in a mocking smile "Safe you said?" she repeated, sitting down "There is no safe place in this world" she corrected him starting to wrinkle in her pockets "but I guess I have no other choice, isn't it?" asked, glancing between Twice and the old man.
"Rude! Does this seem like a way to talk to an elderly person ?!" the man croaked from under the mask, beating a fist on the table in front of them, forgetting that shortly before he had given him the 'old bastard' "There is no more respect!"
Twice turned to the owner of the stall "Excuse her, Old Shu, she is not the type who gives confidence" the most gentle voice justified scratching his cheek with the forefinger over the mask "But she is not wrong, we have known each other for twenty minutes "
"And I still don't trust you," Unmei added, glancing at him.
Old Shu gave her a wrinkled smile. "I hope you will at least trust the food," and with those words, he served two portions of Takoyaki in front of them at a speed that Unmei's eyes struggled to follow "Or they will be wasted."
"Enjoy your meal!" Twice rejoiced, moving excitedly over the stool to the point of swinging it.
"I hope you choke on it!"
By now, Unmei no longer paid attention to that duality. It was amazing how easily she got used to his presence. And she didn't like this thing at all.
She took one last look at the steaming plate in front of her. Five golden octopus patties, skillfully modeled, were arranged on a paper package. Each of them was skewered in the center by a toothpick.
Now that they were in front of her, the scent they gave seemed even more inviting. And her stomach, which rumbled loudly, seemed to agree.
"So gross!" commented Twice's croaking voice beside her on hearing that low sound, Unmei decided to ignore it.
Finally, though not yet convinced, she grabbed one of the toothpicks between her fingers and brought the food to her lips, sniffing it one last time. No alarm bell rang in her head, so she decided to give in.
She gave it a little taste. The meat was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, melting on the tongue. She felt her cheeks flare as she took the first bite down.
She had never heard of such good Takoyaki.
The low and loud laugh of the Old Shu made her jump "Judging from your expression they must have liked you" he pressed his elbow on the counter "I opened this activity that I was a little older than you" he told her by thinning his eyelids, losing himself in the memories "Not that I had a lot of choices, in this society, it is not very clear who has a dirty record."
"Old Shu is a 'Lookout,'" Twice explained to her, folding the edge of the mask under his nose to eat one of the Takoyaki. When he spoke again he was still chewing "He pretends to be a normal trader but is in direct contact with us, he keeps an eye on what happens on the street, the movements of the police or criminal gangs and reports everything to us."
Unmei looked back at the cook, lifting a corner of her lips. "I knew you weren't telling me right, old man," he shrugged the accusation, completely heedless, while Unmei continued to taste her Takoyaki.
"We do what is necessary to survive," Shu justified himself before nodding towards the girl's pocket. "Are you going to let your friend out or not?"
Unmei stiffened, taken aback.
Twice stopped with her, a Takoyaki still raised in midair and half-eaten "EH?!"
Unmei and Old Shu stared at each other for a moment that seemed almost infinite before the girl looked away, her lips pursed in a half-smile as she sighed, "You are a keen observer."
"It's my job."
Unmei pulled her hand from the pocket. On her palm, intent on munching on the piece of octopus that the girl had passed him a short time before, believing she was not seen, was sitting a small humanoid creature. His body was dark and soft, made of shadow; the only thing distinguishable were the eyes—two bright yellow spheres.
Twice almost fell off the stool, horrified to recognize him "EEK! It is the thing that almost killed me!" he shouted.
In response, the little creature stared at him for a brief moment before returning to eat his dinner happily.
"KILL IT!" shouted the most aggressive voice, but Unmei scolded him.
"He is Umbra"
"Very original..." Twice muttered in his usual rasping voice, the girl ignored him.
Unmei stroked the little creature's head, who, in response, made a sound very similar to a joyful squeak.
Old Shu nodded, studying the little guy, "A Mutant Quirk."
The girl nodded. "He can merge and use the shadows to block his opponents," she confirmed "His size and power decrease if there is too much light. He can also change his body as he likes taking the shape that best suits him."
Twice nodded. "This explains many things," he murmured cryptically, crossing his arms over the chest "I didn't know that your Quirk was anything like that."
Unmei ate another octopus meatball, shrugging, "A girl must be ready and have some tricks up her sleeve to protect herself."
"DON'T SAY IT WITH A SO INNOCENT FACE! WITCH!" the more aggressive 'I' of Twice pointed her out.
"How nice..." the other voice murmured, putting both hands on his cheeks, waving his body back and forth.
Old Shu handed a whole octopus meatball to the little Umbra, who accepted it by emitting another happy squeak. Umbra almost lost his balance in grasping it, being nearly as big as it in his current form. In the end, he dropped down to sit only to be able to sink his face on the food again, starting to chew it.
Unmei smiled and, at that moment, almost forgot why she had been brought there. She could almost believe the words of that strange old man.
You are safe here.
Those words sounded so strange and alien in a world like that.
"Old Shu is a safe haven" Twice went on, lowering the mask on his face again, covering it entirely. "If you have a problem, you can turn to him. It's a sort of 'human cell phone,' if you can't contact us, he will find a way to you, "he explained, standing up.
Unmei rearranged Umbra inside the bomber's pocket "I have not yet accepted to join the League of Villains."
"Bitch!"
"It doesn't matter" Twice reassured her by raising his arms and shrugging her shoulders, then, with a theatrical gesture, he raised his index finger "And then I'm sure you will eventually accept, your goals are not very different from ours."
Unmei let that last statement run. How could he be so sure?
"Goodbye, Old Shu," Unmei greeted him, following Twice out of the kiosk.
The elder replied with a nod of his head before returning to cook, "At the next Unmei. I'm sure we'll meet again."

Didn’t Ask For This Pt 5 (Roommate!JK x OC)
A/N: You guys are making me so emotional today omg! I’ve never had a story become this popular so fast and I am so eager to give you more of this story! It only gets better and more dramatic from here, and I love me some drama... This chapter and the next were probably my favorite to write so far. It took me like three days to write because of how long my idea ended up being!
Summary: “I didn’t know you hated me so much,” he spoke as he grabbed my wrist and once again turned me around to face him, “and quite honestly, I don’t think I’ve done anything horrible enough for you to hate me to the degree that you do.” “You say that like the hate isn’t mutual,” I remarked as he shook his head. There was a bitter smile on his face as he took a deep breath, “I think you are quite honestly one of the worst human beings I’ve had to come in contact with.”

The three of us decided to ride together to the bowling alley. I sat in the back while Taehyung drove and Jungkook sat in the passenger's seat. I was having a nice time sitting in my thoughts as I looked out the window. Jungkook and Taehyung were both singing along to an English song that was playing on the radio, and things seems so peaceful for that little bit. I closed my eyes and smiled as I started to enjoy their voices singing along with the artist.
I always knew that Taehyung was good at singing, but Jungkook’s voice was a surprise. I had no idea that the boy could not just sing, but that his voice was beautiful. Too bad that beautiful voice is attached to his rotten personality.
“Hey Ari,” Taehyung spoke over the radio as I snapped out of thought and looked his way, “we’re here.”
I looked back out the window as I saw we were in the parking lot of the bowling alley. It wasn’t a very long drive, but that drive felt even shorter than I expected.
“Oh,” I said dumbly as Jungkook snickered and opened his door. Taehyung and I followed suit as we all made our way into the building in question.
I noticed that Chaeyoung’s car was in the parking lot, and I spotted her the second we walked through the doors. She seemed to be the only one that was from our group to be here before us.
“Hey Chae,” I smiled as she rushed up to us. She looked over at Taehyung and then leaned in to me to whisper something.
“Taehyung has gotten hotter omg,” she smiled to me as I shook my head and rolled my eyes.
“Jimin is coming, right?” I gave her a look as she took the chance to roll her eyes.
“Yeah. He texted me about three minutes ago saying that he’s on his way, but I think he lives nearly 10 minutes away.” Chaeyoung responded as I nodded. I turned to see that Jungkook and Taehyung were also talking quietly to each other like Chaeyoung and I had been.
I was about to say something to Taehyung when I spotted the doors open. My eyes looked at them expectantly as I felt nerves wash over me. Jung Hoseok was much cuter in person…
He walked up to Jungkook and Taehyung as they did some kind of handshake thing that I don’t remember them ever doing, even on the dance team.
“Jungkook! It’s been a while since I’ve seen this kid around!” I heard Hoseok laugh and wrap an arm around Jungkook’s shoulders. I saw Jungkook’s cheeks flush as a smile appeared on my face.
Hoseok calls Jungkook a kid? I could get used to that… I would enjoy seeing his embarrassment over it.
“Oh, Jung,” Taehyung looked my way as my nerves spiked. I wasn’t ready! “My sister is over there if you wanted to go meet her.”
“Oh, yeah,” Hoseok nodded before walking in my direction. I felt panic written all over my face as I looked from Taehyung to Jungkook. Jungkook’s flustered state had already been recovered, and when I caught his eyes with mine, it caused my nerves to increase even more than before.
Why was Jungkook making me nervous? I’m around him all the time! There was no reason for me to feel nervous because of that jerk.
“Hey RaeAri,” Hoseok smiled and I turned my attention over to him. His smile was so charming and it caused a smile to appear on my face, “You probably don’t remember me from high school since I was a senior when you were a freshman. I’m Jung Hoseok.”
He held his hand out for me to shake as I slightly hesitated grabbing it. He was really cute, and I didn’t want to mess this up.
“I remember you a little,” I smiled softly as we let go of each other, “I’m pretty sure you may have given me a ride home from one of Taehyung’s dance practices.”
Hoseok concentrated for a couple seconds as his eyebrows furrowed. A few seconds went by as his eyes moved to look at my face as if he was trying to figure me out. It took another few seconds before his eyes brightened and a huge smile appeared on his face.
“You’re right,” He nodded and a soft chuckle left his throat. I smiled and tried to swallow my nerves that were trying to ruin how well this seemed to be going so far, “I nearly forgot about that. Now that I’m thinking about it, you have always been this cute.”
My eyes widened at his words, and he didn’t seem phased by the fact that he had just called me cute. Then there’s me who’s a flustered mess at his simple words, and he smiled at me when he noticed how embarrassed I had become.
“Sorry, I was talking to Taehyung about you earlier today, and when he showed me a picture I asked him if you had always been that cute. I forgot that you weren’t there for the first part of the conversation,” he laughed and slipped his hands in his pockets before looking toward the door. I looked that way, too, spotting Jimin walking in.
“W-Well,” I spoke to get his attention back on me, “Thank you for the compliment.”
He smiled and let out a little huff of a laugh before grabbing my arm suddenly, “That’s one of your friends that just walked in, right? I don’t want to keep you all to myself. I’d feel bad.”
“No, you don’t need to feel like that! If I didn’t want to spend time with you, I’d let you know,” I softly laughed as he nodded and looked in Jimin’s direction.
“I actually think I know that guy. I think he’s the same age as me…” Hoseok thought out loud as I raised my eyebrows. I was more surprised by the fact that Jimin was 23 instead of being surprised that he might know Jimin. He looks and acts like he’s my age!
“Who, Jimin? He didn’t go to the same school as us,” I informed as my eyes caught Jimin’s. He smiled and waved my way before spotting Hoseok standing next to me. Judging from the subtle look he gave Hoseok, Jimin seemed to also recognize him. “I think Jimin likes dance. Maybe you saw him somewhere relating to that?”
Hoseok just gave a simple nod, but I could tell that he was still intently thinking about it. It was probably going to bother him until he figured it out.
I trailed my eyes around the room as my eyes locked on to Jungkook’s fairly quickly. He seemed to have been looking my way, and when I caught him, he looked away. I swallowed as I took a deep breath and focused back on Hoseok. So what if Jungkook was looking my way? He was just wondering how our conversation was going…
“Ah! I got it!” Hoseok started laughing and he looked my way, “Sorry, it was really bothering me, but now I figured it out. I took dance classes in middle school with him. We were both always competing for who would be the best dancer in the class. I don’t remember who ended up winning, though.”
I nodded and looked Jimin’s way. I didn’t see him as the competitive type, but I’ve also never seen him dance. Chaeyoung told me that he had videos up on Youtube, but I keep forgetting to look for them.
“Well I’m glad you figured it out,” I smiled while looking back over at him. He was already looking my way and I felt my cheeks flush at that thought.
“Let’s stop talking about Jimin,” he slightly laughed and boldly took my hand in his. I took a deep breath and tried to calm my violently beating heart. “Are you hungry? The food here is pretty expensive, but it’s on me if you want something.”
“Oh, I’m fine! I was actually thinking about inviting everyone to have dinner somewhere after we bowled a few times.” I answered as he nodded.
“Then do you want something to drink? There’s soda and they even serve alcohol if you wanted some.” Hoseok looked my way as I felt my face heat up.
“Er…” I didn’t know how to put this without sounding lame, “I’ve… never had alcohol before…”
Hoseok looked at me with raised eyebrows before a soft smile appeared on his face, “Really? How old are you again?”
“That’s irrelevant,” I laughed and looked away from him, “I just… I have an irrational fear that I’ll do or say something that I’ll regret even if I just take a sip or two.”
“RaeAri, alcohol isn’t truth serum,” he chuckled as he looked back to Jungkook and Taehyung. He let go of my hand and waved the two over toward us.
I watched Jungkook’s mini debate on if he was actually going to walk over or not, but when Taehyung hit him in the arm to gesture for him to follow, he pushed himself off the wall he was leaning against.
“Do you guys want to make this an alcohol free night, or are you okay if I buy some?” Hoseok asked as Taehyung seemed a little worried. He looked at me as if trying to decide if he wanted to see me drinking alcohol, and I could tell that he decided that he did not like that thought.
“I think I’d have a nervous breakdown if I saw Ari drinking, so if you buy some, please keep it to yourself,” Taehyung said as he looked at me.
“Don’t worry about it, Taehyung. I won’t have any,” I reassured him as Jungkook just scoffed. I had to hold my tongue to keep from making a snide remark directed at him. I was not about to let Hoseok see me immaturely bantering with Jungkook like we always do.
Jungkook seemed to notice the fact that I was holding back, and a sadistic smile appeared on his face. I gave him a look to warn him to not start anything, but his mind was made up.
“You never cease to be the party killer, do you?” he spoke as Hoseok raised his eyebrows at Jungkook’s comment.
“I’m not killing any party. You don’t need alcohol in your system for things to be fun,” I snapped back softly, trying my best to not get too worked up. Hoseok is really cute and seems really interested in me. I didn’t want to do anything to scare him away somehow.
“You’re right,” Hoseok agreed with me as he sent me a soft look, “Let’s just have drinking free night. Besides, things can get ugly if someone gets drunk.”
I felt my cheeks heat up as I looked in his eyes. They were the most beautiful shade of brown, way more appealing than Jungkook’s, and I felt my heart beat increase the longer I looked into them.
“Hey, look, Yoongi’s here,” Jungkook spoke as my eyes nearly popped out of my head. I looked at Jungkook as he had the most evil smirk on his face. Talking to Hoseok had made me forget that Yoongi was going to be here.
...This was going to be interesting.
“If you’ll excuse me,” I mumbled to Hoseok as I grabbed on to Jungkook’s shirt and pulled him into the arcade.
“What the hell am I gonna do?” I put a hand to my forehead as Jungkook looked at me dumbfounded.
“You want advice from me?” he was the picture of shock, but I didn’t have time to think about that.
“Well you know both guys. I’d talk to Chaeyoung but she’d just tell me to pick whoever’s hotter.” I whined as Jungkook sighed and rolled his eyes.
“I have no interest in helping you. I’m actually quite excited to see how this plays out,” He smiled as I narrowed my eyes at him.
“This isn’t some drama on TV. Jungkook, I can’t screw this up. I would like to not be single for the rest of my life.” I tried to keep my voice low as I spotted Yoongi walking up to Chaeyoung and Jimin. His eyes caught mine as he waved, eyeing the fact that Jungkook was with me.
“Jungkook,” I spoke in a pleading voice as he sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He looked out into the lobby area and spotted Yoongi, but he stopped cold as his eyes landed on something that seemed to make him visibly upset.
I started to grow concerned, but once I looked back out the doorway, I spotted her.
Jennie.
He took a deep breath and shook his head, trying to shake off whatever feelings he just showed on his face, “Whatever. Just stick with Yoongi. You can’t weird him out like you could Hoseok. Plus, like I’ve mentioned before, he’s too good for you.”
“Well while we’re making low blows,” I felt my cheeks heat up and my blood begin to boil, “I’d much rather Jennie end up with Taehyung rather than you. She’s too good for you.”
I left Jungkook in the arcade as I tried to shake off just how angry I was. I took a deep breath as I spotted Yoongi. I should at least say hi to him considering the fact that I invited him.
“Hey,” I smiled as Yoongi looked from Jimin to me. A smile appeared on his face as he stepped away from our friends to talk to me semi-privately.
“Hey,” he responded before looking toward the arcade, “I know it’s not really my business but… what’d you and Jungkook talk about?”
I turned around to see if Jungkook had left the arcade, and I spotted him walking over to Taehyung, Jennie, and Hoseok. “It wasn’t really important. I just didn’t want to argue with him in front of everyone,” I lied as Yoongi continued to eye Jungkook.
“Looks like you did a number on him,” he said in a low voice, “But we don’t have to keep talking about this. I feel bad for asking something so personal in the first place.”
“I don’t mind,” I lied as I felt my curiosity grow. I just wanted to continue this conversation a little longer to clear up some confusion, “What do you mean ‘did a number on him’?”
“Well,” he cleared his throat and licked his lips, “he just looks shaken up is all. I’ve seen you two bicker and storm off angrily, but he doesn’t look mad.”
I swallowed and resisted the urge to look back at Jungkook. I’d die inside if he caught me looking his way after all the arguing we just did.
“But who are the two people I don’t recognize?” he asked as I just smiled nervously. I was just going to be honest with him about Hoseok. If I tell him what he’s here for, it could either be a really good thing, or a very bad thing.
“Those two are Taehyung’s coworkers. Jennie is a girl he kinda likes, and he invited his friend Hoseok to… er, see if we’d hit it off, I guess.” I spoke as Yoongi just seemed to nod indifferently. I took a deep breath to try and contain my disappointment.
Was all of this one sided this whole time? But I’m not the only person that thinks that Yoongi might like me… Chaeyoung and Jungkook feel that way, don’t they?
“Is it going well?” He asked as I looked over at Hoseok. He was joking and laughing with Jennie and Taehyung as I turned back to Yoongi. I felt a needle poke at my heart as I looked back into the eyes of the man who I thought might feel the same about me.
“I’ve only talked to him for like 5 minutes, but he’s really nice. Jungkook doesn’t like the idea of Hoseok and I, and… that’s kinda what we were arguing about.” I revealed. I felt myself slowly fall into a sulking mood as I thought more and more about how Yoongi probably has no feelings for me past friendship.
I found myself taking my filter off to talk to him the more I thought about it. If I didn’t feel like tiptoeing around him to make sure I don’t say anything wrong, things felt more natural that way. Maybe things were better this way.
“Sounds to me like Jungkook’s just jealous,” Yoongi mentioned as I raised an eyebrow.
“Sorry? Why would he be jealous?” I asked as Yoongi just laughed and shook his head.
“Because he probably doesn’t like thinking about you moving on from him. It either hurts his pride or it’s because he still has feelings for you.”
I was about to wave my hands in front of Yoongi to try and figure out why he was saying all these weird things about Jungkook, but the realization hit me before I opened my mouth. I completely forgot that Jimin and Yoongi were under the impression that Jungkook and I are ex’s…
I found myself tempted to explain the lie to Yoongi right then and there, but I stopped myself when Taehyung called out my name. He motioned for everyone to walk over to him as I motioned for Yoongi to come over with me.
“So are we good for paying for two games? We’ll need two lanes because there can only be 4 people per lane. We just need to split up on who’s going on what lane.”
I felt a frown form on my face as I realized the only way we could split the lanes for it to make sense would be if I was in a group with Jimin, Chaeyoung, and Yoongi.
“I was thinking that it could be Jennie and I, as well as Jimin and Chaeyoung,” Taehyung spoke as I raised my eyebrows. What? What?
Taehyung was putting me in a group with Yoongi, Hoseok, and Jungkook? He was sending me to my death sentence. Hoseok isn’t going to want to even look my way after this night.
Chaeyoung sent me a look, but she wasn’t going to fight anything. I was surprised since I hadn’t even gotten the chance to tell her that Hoseok and I were supposed to be on a date of sorts.
“Any objections?” Taehyung asked as he looked my way. It was as if he was expecting me to speak up over Jungkook being in my group, but I wasn’t going to say anything.
“Yeah, why do I have to be stuck with Miss Holier Than Thou?” Jungkook spoke up as I instantly glared at him. I hate it when he uses that nickname!
“It was the best way to split everyone up,” Taehyung raised an eyebrow to his friend, “Unless you want to switch with me?”
Jungkook looked at me and his eyes narrowed intensely. I felt confusion written all over my face as I looked at Taehyung.
“But then I won’t be in the same group as you, Taehyung,” Jennie frowned and gave Jungkook a slightly pleading look, “Please don’t switch with him.”
Chaeyoung sighed and looked my way. She seemed to be seriously contemplating something, and her mind was made up before I had a chance to stop her.
“I’ll switch with you, Jungkook,” she spoke up as Jungkook looked her way. I noticed him also glance at Jimin who was visibly disappointed, but he sent her a look that told her that he would be okay with it.
“Then is everything settled?” Taehyung asked as everyone stayed quiet. I looked around and spotted Hoseok looking my way with a blank expression. When our eyes met, he sent me a soft smile that I returned. “Great! Now, we need to actually get the games started or we’ll end up being here forever.”
I entered my name in last since I was the only one out of the group to have never been bowling before. I sat next to Chaeyoung as both Yoongi and Hoseok sat on the opposite side. I took a deep breath as I watched Chaeyoung get up to bowl. I watched her movements as she rolled the ball to end up with hitting 7 of the ten pins.
She was getting ready to go for a second time when I noticed that Jungkook was getting up to take his turn. I felt my eyes practically glued to him as I found myself captivated by how focused he seemed. He took a few breaths before taking a few steps forward, swinging his arm back and then forward letting the ball go. It rushed at the pins as he just watched, his fingers finding his hair.
A satisfied smile made a home on his face as he looked at the strike he had just scored. I swallowed as his eyes met mine, and I felt my face flush as he sent me a breathtaking smile. He mouthed some words, and it took me a few seconds before I figured out what he had said.
‘Beat that.’
It wasn’t long before it was my turn to bowl as I felt nerves overcome me. I wasn’t liking the fact that everyone was watching me, but it was something that I’m just going to have to get over.
“I have to be honest,” I spoke as I looked to Hoseok. He was coming back from his turn as he scored a 6 and finished it off with a spare. “I’ve never actually bowled before.”
“Wow,” Hoseok smiled and I stood up to stand next to him, “Do you want me to help you out a little? We can take this game as your practice game and not hold your score against you.”
“Wait, are we doing something with the scores?” I asked as Hoseok looked over to look Taehyung and Jungkook’s way.
“It was Jungkook’s idea. He wanted the person with the lowest score to buy the person with the highest score something,” Hoseok mentioned as we stepped up on the bowling platform.
I looked back at Jungkook with a glare as he just sent me a smirk, seeming to know exactly what that look was for. Now this was personal.
“Well I’m definitely not going to get the lowest score knowing that,” I frowned as I realized that I forgot to bring a bowling ball with me. I rushed back to get the one that Chaeyoung and I both picked out.
“Okay, so you want to stand on this spot right here,” Hoseok pointed as I stook a few steps back and put my feet where he indicated, “And hold the ball up like you’ve seen everyone else do.”
I nodded and held the ball up to my chest. I felt my nerves spike as Hoseok walked behind me and placed a hand on my back, “Now you just need to walk forward and swing the ball back for momentum.”
I thought back to the little Mii’s on the TV screen as I nodded. I knew how I needed to swing it, I just didn’t know when to let go and how to move my wrist to guide the ball.
“Just do a practice run through of it to get a feel for it,” Hoseok nodded and stepped away. I took a deep breath and followed the same motions that I’d seen everyone else do, but when I swung the ball forward again, I almost lost my balance. I stumbled to keep from falling, and I ended up stepping past the line that I wasn’t supposed to cross.
“Don’t worry about that,” Hoseok spoke up with a smile as I looked over at him with an unsure look. “Here, Jungkook is the most experienced here. Just watch him before trying again.”
I turned to see Jungkook getting up to take his turn again. I felt my face heat up at the fact that I had taken so long that Jungkook was already going again, but there wasn’t anything I could do about it.
I took a deep breath as I noticed him glance over at me. I didn’t shy away from watching him because, I hated to admit it but, he looked so... elegant.
He even looks, dare I say… incredibly attractive. The way he moved was so fluid and perfect as I swallowed. I hated having these thoughts about someone as horrible as him, but I couldn’t deny how addicting it was to watch him bowl.
“Okay,” I swallowed when Jungkook finished his turn with a spare, 8 and 2. “I think I’ll try it now…”
I looked over at Hoseok and he just gave me a confident smile and a nod. I tried my hardest to copy how fluid and perfect Jungkook’s moves looked, but I spent too much time perfecting my form that when I let go of the ball, it quickly ended up in the gutter.
“Oh, nice try,” Hoseok was really nice about my complete and utter failure as the ball slowly rolled past the pins to be sent back over to us. I turned around with an embarrassed blush on my cheeks as I grabbed the second ball. Chaeyoung smiled and me and gave me a thumbs up as Yoongi sent me a soft smile.
I tried again, and this time, I paid attention to where I was sending the ball. It left my fingers and actually stayed on the alley, curving slightly to the left. I bit my lip and watched as the ball knocked down… 6 pins!
I smiled and turned to Hoseok with an excited look on my face. He looked equally excited as I let my excitement take over me. I threw my arms around him in a hug he he just softly laughed in my ear.
“Thank you! You’re an awesome teacher!” I bit my lip and pulled away from him to turn around and call out to Taehyung, “Did you see that, Tae?! I hit 6 pins! On my second try!”
Taehyung stood up as I jumped down and rushed over to his side. He gave me thumbs up before patting Jungkook’s back who was sitting down next to him.
“I’m really impressed and proud of you,” he winked before looking down at Jungkook. My eyes followed his as Jungkook moved Taehyung’s hand off of his back. He leaned back in against his seat before looking up at me.
“You still had a gutterball. Don’t forget that,” he almost mumbled as I narrowed my eyes at him.
“I thought it was an awesome first try,” I heard Jennie stick up for me as I smiled and looked her way.
“Thanks,” I replied before I turned to look back Hoseok’s way. I walked back to my group as I sat down next to Yoongi. I looked at him with a smile as he sent one back.
“This is turning out to be more fun than I thought it would be,” I thought out loud as Yoongi nodded.
“I don’t mind bowling. It isn’t my favorite, but I enjoy playing it,” he responded as my eyes caught sight of Hoseok.
“What about you, Hoseok?” I asked as he looked up at the two of us, “Do you like to bowl?”
He just nodded and glanced at Chaeyoung who scored an 8 and 1. “It’s fun. I really like watching people bowl more than I like bowling myself.”
“Really?” I asked as Yoongi got up to take his turn to bowl. Chaeyoung sat down beside me to jump into the conversation. “I guess if you’re watching someone that knows what they’re doing, it’s pretty fun.”
“Are you guys talking about Jungkook?” Chaeyoung jumped in a leaned forward so that the group behind us didn’t hear, “He looked so hot up there when he scored that strike.”
“He’s really good,” Hoseok laughed at the way Chaeyoung worded her sentence, “He and Taehyung are the ones who are mainly in competition when it comes to who’s going to win.”
“Well if I end up being the lowest score, I wouldn’t mind buying him a drink,” she smirked as I smacked her in the arm. I sent her a dirty look as she held up her hands as sigh of surrender, “I’m not being serious! You know that I like Jimin.”
I looked away from her as Yoongi walked back from his turn. Hoseok just laughed as he stood up to grab a bowling ball.
“Yoongi,” Chaeyoung spoke as he sat down in the seats across from ours. He raised an eyebrow to indicate that he heard her, “what do you think of Ari?”
I choked on my own spit at her blunt question as I turned around to pretend to not be there. My eyes caught sight of Jungkook’s as I gave him a questioning look. Was he listening to us?
“What do you mean?” Yoongi asked with an embarrassed look on his face. I refused to look his way, but I did look away from Jungkook as I turned around and stared at the bowling ball contraption in between the seats.
“Do you like RaeAri?” she bluntly asked as I was ready to reach for her neck and lightly strangle her. “And I mean like you would a girlfriend, none of that friend crap.”
I could feel Yoongi’s eyes on me as I watched Hoseok finish up his second frame. He turned around after getting a spare, and a smile appeared on his face.
I sprang up out of my seat and scrambled to get my bowling ball as I passed by Hoseok on my way up.
We finished out the first game, and to no one’s surprise, Jungkook won and I had the lowest score. I felt relief wash over me as we weren’t counting this round.
It didn’t take long for us to start the second game, and silence was mostly enveloping Yoongi and I. He and Chaeyoung had finished their conversation before I got back, and I didn’t dare to ask what had been said. I was sure that Chaeyoung would have already told me if things went well.
Jungkook disappeared for a good few minutes to cause his group to have to wait for him while my group continued to play ahead. We started to get a good two frames ahead, and by the time we hit the start of the third frame past theirs, we decided to paused until Jungkook came out of hiding.
Jimin walked over to talk with Chaeyoung and Yoongi as I walked over to sit with Taehyung. Hoseok followed me to Taehyung’s side as we just sat and had some small talk. I watched the interactions between Jennie and Taehyung, but something just felt off. Taehyung seemed to have plenty of interest in Jennie, but her eyes kept wandering off.
I tried to figure out who she was looking at, but I couldn’t figure it out. I started to get a little paranoid that she was looking Hoseok’s way, but that theory fell apart when I spotted Jungkook walking back over to us.
...She was looking at Jungkook?
I felt my stomach drop as I looked at Taehyung who seemed to be having a great time. He was smiling and laughing about something Hoseok said, but both Jennie and I were zoned out.
I saw Jungkook’s eyes meet hers, but his eyes tore away only seconds later. I noticed his walk was unsteady, and it didn’t take me long to realize where he had been.
I stood up and rushed up to him before he fully got to his group. He looked at me with a confused look for a couple seconds before he glanced at Jennie.
“Look Jungkook, I know you’re at least tipsy,” I whispered as he looked at me with a look as if he was about to fight me, but he stayed quiet. “I know I’ve said a lot of things about you and Jennie, but this seriously isn’t funny. Taehyung really likes her.”
“I know that,” Jungkook spat as he grumbled and took a deep breath, “God she’s so damn hot still…”
“I swear, Jungkook” I felt panic rise into my voice as his eyes looked over at Jennie again, “You’ve said all this stuff about not touching her because Taehyung likes her now.”
“But she’s just…” Jungkook took a deep breath, “She still likes me… I didn’t like she would still…”
I tried my hardest to hold back the urge to slap him in the face as he looked back at me. His eyes pierced into mine as I grabbed his arm and started to pull him back to the concessions.
“I’ll take a water,” I spoke as I kept a death grip on Jungkook’s arm. I was not about to let this mess of a person anywhere near Jennie in his current state.
The man behind the counter handed me a bottle as I handed him the money. It cost me an arm and a leg for that bottle, but I’d do anything if it meant that Jungkook wasn’t going to ruin Taehyung’s night.
“Drink this,” I ordered as I forced him to sit down at one of the two person tables they had placed around the concession stand. Jungkook listened to me as he downed almost half the bottle in less than three seconds.
“God, why are you so damn annoying,” he spoke as I grabbed the water from him out of slight anger, “There is a hot girl in there, a girl who I still really like, and she’s interested in me, too! I thought she didn’t ever want anyone like me again!”
“Jungkook, you may be a douchebag, but do you really want to hurt your best friend again?” I scolded as he looked into my eyes, “You promised him you wouldn’t flirt with her.”
“I’m not gonna flirt with her,” Jungkook narrowed his eyes, “I’m going to fuck her.”
I took a deep breath and looked at Jungkook with the most disappointed and hurt look that I could ever display. His words hurt me, even, and I wasn’t the one who liked Jennie.
“Go to hell, Jungkook,” I spat before opening the water bottle and pouring the rest of the water on his head. The look on his face tore me up as I threw the bottle at him for good measure. Maybe spending $5 on a bottle of water was worth it if I got to do that to him.
“Ari,” he called out to me as I started to walk away. I could feel tears building up in my eyes as his hand grabbed my wrist to stop me from walking, “Stop storming away like that.”
I spun around and took a deep breath. I tried my hardest to keep the tears from spilling from my eyes, but it wasn’t long before they were streaming down my face, anyway.
“I don’t have anything to say to the likes of you,” I spat as Jungkook’s eyes widened sadly. He watched the tears roll down my cheeks, and I violently wiped them away. I was dying to spin around and run off into the bathroom, but he wasn’t having that. He grabbed onto my other arm to secure me to him.
“Don’t look at me like that,” he spoke as I narrowed my eyes through my tears. He swallowed and reached up to try and wipe a tear that had just left my eye. I shoved his hand away and yanked my other hand out of his hold.
“I want you out of my apartment,” I spoke with a broken voice as he took a deep breath and looked up at the ceiling, “If you sleep with Jennie, I’m sure Taehyung would help you pack so that he never has to see you again.”
“I’m not going to sleep with Jennie,” he spoke with a shaky voice as I noticed a tear slip from his eyes. I didn’t know how to feel as he quickly wiped it away and pretended it was never there. “And I’m not moving out.”
“Why the hell not?” I took a step closer to him as he swallowed and reached out to touch my hand. I flinched at the touch, but I didn’t find myself pulling away.
“I’d-”
“Ari?”
I turned and pulled my hand out of Jungkook’s as I spotted Chaeyoung and Taehyung walking in our direction. Chaeyoung rushed up to me as Taehyung swallowed with a wide eyed look.
“Let’s run to the bathroom,” she nodded as I just followed her lead. I didn’t want to talk to Taehyung right now, so I was just going to leave Jungkook to explain everything to him.
Chaeyoung and I were soon standing in the hallway to the bathrooms, but we didn’t actually go in.
“What happened?” Chaeyoung looked incredibly concerned as my tears came to a slow stop. I took a deep breath to try and fully calm down, but it was really hard. I got really worked up back there…
“Jungkook and Jennie used to date when they were in high school. Taehyung currently likes Jennie, but I caught Jennie giving Jungkook more attention than she was Taehyung. Jungkook then ran off and got drunk so that he would have the “confidence” to do something so horrible to Taehyung.”
My voice shook as I paused and violently closed my eyes and shook my head, “I got so mad because he told me he wanted to not just flirt with her despite promising not to, he wanted to have sex with her.”
“Wow,” Chaeyoung sighed and shook her head while scrunching up her nose.
“It infuriated me, upset me even, that he even said that. I poured a water bottle on his head and ran off, but he followed me to try and, I don’t know, I guess apologize? I told him that I wanted him to move out, but he said that he didn’t want to. I don’t understand why…”
Chaeyoung stayed quiet as I looked over at her. It was weird that she wasn’t ranting about him to help me feel better… It made me worry that something had happened to her to make her upset as well.
“This is probably a really bad time to tell you this,” Chaeyoung swallowed and stared at the ground, probably because she was afraid of how I was about to react to her news.
“But I talked to Yoongi, as you already kinda know,” she took a deep breath, “I couldn’t actually talk about it until you ran off just now, but I just want you to know that Yoongi and Jimin now know the truth that you and Jungkook never dated.”
“Okay,” I shrugged and tried to laugh off my nerves, “You were starting to scare me there!”
“I’m not done,” she glanced up at me as I felt my muscles stiffen up at her look, “I talked to Yoongi about it, and keep in mind that Hoseok was also hearing this conversation. I wanted to talk to Yoongi without Hoseok there, but Yoongi insisted that Hoseok hear what he had to say as well.”
“Well? Just tell me already,” I felt my nerves cause my stomach to churn uncomfortably, “You’re killing me.”
“Yoongi doesn’t like you like that,” she said bluntly, but I could tell she was only just starting, “He told me that he did like you at one point, and he was even interested on asking you out on a date before Jungkook showed up in your life. But… once he met Jungkook and saw the two of you together, he decided he didn’t want to make an enemy of you if the two of you didn’t work out.”
She swallowed and looked up at me to see my unchanging expressions. I didn’t even know what to begin thinking learning all this, and she didn’t seem to be done talking.
“When I told him and Jimin that you and Jungkook weren’t actually ex’s, Yoongi looked at Hoseok and told him to stay away from you. At first I thought he was implying that he actually did want to ask you out and didn’t want Hoseok as competition… But when Hoseok asked his reasoning for saying that…”
I leaned in closer to coax Chaeyoung to finish. She looked incredibly uncomfortable while trying to think of how to word her next information.
“But instead, he explained that you already have feelings for Jungkook. He told Hoseok that he’d be wasting his time on you because you already belong to Jungkook.”
“What?” I yelled as my eyes went from nervous to enraged. Yoongi told the guy I was supposed to be having a date with that I belong to another man?
“Wait! He said that the reason he felt that way was because you ditched the two of them to run off with drunk Jungkook.” Chaeyoung continued as I shook my head and rushed out of the hallway. I spotted Hoseok and Yoongi talking with Jimin as my eyes narrowed. I was ready to kill that tiny excuse of a man!
Chaeyoung grabbed my arm to stop me from storming up to them, but nothing was stopping me. Jungkook was ruining my life and I’m sick of it!
I slowed down my pace when I say that I attracted the attention of Yoongi and Jimin. Hoseok soon turned around and caught sight of me as I felt my throat almost close up on me. I didn’t realize that I still looked like I had been crying until all three of them gave me a look of worry.
“I ran off with Jungkook because I love my brother and didn’t want Jungkook to hurt him again,” I spat out as I realized how out of breath I felt. It felt like Jungkook had punched me in the gut as I tried to defend myself.
“Jungkook’s still hung up on Jennie, and he was about to waltz on over here and sweep her away from him and embarrass him. If I hadn’t stopped him then no one would have.” My hands were shaking as Yoongi stood up and walked up to me with a sorry look on his face.
“I don’t understand why you had to say that,” I shook my head at Yoongi as he continued walking up to me.
“Ari, everyone’s looking,” Yoongi softly spoke as I felt frustration build up in my chest, “can we do this outside?”
“No,” I shook my head as Yoongi sighed and grabbed my arm. I didn’t try to protest as Chaeyoung and Hoseok both watched us walk out of the building.
“I don’t understand, Yoongi,” I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down a little bit. I was being pathetic enough, and I did not want to start bawling in front of him.
“I’m sorry, Ari. I crossed a line, I know,” he took a deep breath and grabbed my hand to try and calm me down, “I shouldn’t have said that to Hoseok. It was really selfish of me.”
“Well apologies can’t fix all your problems,” I sniffed as I looked away from him. “I really thought that you liked me at least a little bit… I just…”
Yoongi gave me an apologetic look, “I didn’t want Chaeyoung to say all of that to you…”
“Well she did,” I swallowed and dared myself to look into his eyes, “Jungkook and I have never been together and there are no underlying feelings there. Does me saying that change anything?”
Yoongi didn’t break my stare as his hand tightened around mine. “Let’s try something.”
I looked at him with an expectant look as I waited for him to continue. Did he want to at least try a relationship with me?
I jumped when Yoongi leaned forward, and without warning, his lips were pressed to mine. I felt my nerves spike as I realized that Yoongi swept in and stole my first kiss with no warning.
The feeling was certainly weird and foreign, and my mind didn’t know what to think. He didn’t kiss me for long as I felt him start to pull away from me. I took a deep breath to catch all the breath that he had just knocked out of me.
“Ari,” he whispered as he looked down instead of at me, “I want you to tell me, did you feel anything from that?”
I swallowed and slowly started realizing what he was doing. I wasn’t surprised that this was what his plan was, but I was surprised that he was making me realize that he was right.
“It just felt like you pressed your lips to mine,” I admitted as a sad smile appeared on his face.
“See? We’re just not… meant for each other. I do love you, but you’re like my best friend… not my girlfriend.” Yoongi explained as I just nodded in agreement. He was right. I was so blinded by the idea of having a boyfriend that I was trying to push something that just wasn’t meant to be.
“You’re right,” I nodded and swallowed as I looked behind Yoongi. I noticed Chaeyoung and Jimin looking out one of the doors at us as I sighed and rolled my eyes. Yoongi turned around to spot them as well, and we both laughed.
“Let’s get back inside. I’ll talk to Hoseok for you, okay?” he reassured as I smiled and nodded. It felt good that he was going to fix the mistake that he made, but my mind started to wander to the thoughts that had been bothering me in the dark and forgotten corners of my mind.
If Yoongi was right about me and him, then…
No. He was definitely wrong about Jungkook and I. Definitely.

Edgar x OC (Eleanor): Masquerade (Pt. 3/5)
...these chapters are getting longer and longer each time. I have no self-control hoorraaaaaaayyyyyyyyy~!
I....may have been a liiiiiiiittle bit angsty with this chapter. Not a lot...just enough to hopefully tear your heart out like I did mine while writing this :^) The next chapter will likely be the last, but who even knows what will happen so we’ll just wait and see......ANGST TIME! >:3
These two people who were brought together on a whim and under very unnatural circumstances were quick to find answers to the questions they had of each other. At first, it was simply business - finding information on their target keeps them safe while also discovering the other’s weaknesses - but over time, both Edgar and Eleanor realised just how similar they were. Fabricated discussions in sparse moments of free time eventually shifted into genuine conversations with set meeting dates and times.
The two would talk about everything and nothing, probing each other to discover the type of person they were. Over time, they learned of the other’s quirks and mannerisms, their likes and dislikes - things that should’ve been pointless information was stored away in their thoughts and memories. Why? Because they wished to remember it personally.
Eleanor learned quickly to distinguish Edgar’s crafted smiles from his genuine ones, when he was stressed or otherwise emotionally compromised and, eventually, Edgar divulged to her in more detail about his work with the Bright Family and his uncle. Suddenly, pieces that had no place fit together perfectly and the anomaly that is Edgar Bright made more sense to her, almost frighteningly so.
Of course, this exchange was not one-sided. Edgar picked up quickly on Eleanor’s self-driven and occasionally stubborn personality, yet he couldn’t help but laugh when her meeker, more reserved side emerged on weary days. He noticed the way she poked her tongue out slightly between her lips whenever she was deep in thought, and he laughed like a fool when he would tease her and she would retaliate by calling him every name under the sun. And, as was only fair, she spoke of her past and revealed her secrets, a conversation Edgar could not forget even if he tried.
[ “As you guessed, I am from that Lancaster family. My entire bloodline is basically comprised of compulsive gamblers and master con artists. From birth, I was trained mercilessly and shaped into another set of hands to swindle and deceive people into handing over their money.”
“That explains your impeccable poker face. However, that doesn’t explain how you knew of my business.”
“Being a con artist means you need a stable and reliable information source. How else do you know who to target and steal from? While our main operations were in Black Territory, we had connections in the Red Territory as well...where we found out about a man called Claudius Bright and what he was the ringleader behind.”
“And you found out about me through that.”
“Exactly. After I got away from my family, I had nothing. Still kept contact with the information dealers and happened to hear about a certain party you were targeting and...well, you know the rest.”
“Indeed. One query with your story: the Black Army found the Lancaster family’s operation and shut it down, imprisoning everyone involved. How were you spared?”
“Simple. I was the one who ratted them out.” ]
She didn’t tell him everything, neither did he tell her everything. However, a mutual understanding was achieved between the two; that they were more alike in their upbringings and the way they view themselves than either could have ever guessed.
Edgar sits silently in the faux leather armchair that he has made his own in Eleanor’s quaint little house in the Central Quarter. His eyes flick to the clock on the wall, its ticking rhythmic.
1:46pm.
(How odd. She’s never late.)
While not one for worrying needlessly, he couldn’t help but feel an emotion bubbling inside him that he thought was long since dead. Fear.
(Something must have happened. She wouldn’t draw out a prank to this extent...she wouldn’t even try to prank me to begin with.)
Edgar’s lips press together, his eyebrows drawing taught as he contemplates leaving to search for her. The thought is immediately halted by the abrupt crashing of the door as it’s unceremoniously thrown open. Eleanor flies into the room and shuts the door in the blink of an eye. She leans against the door, her breathing laboured but gradually calming. Edgar blinks, his face illustrating his genuine shock at how dishevelled and frantic Eleanor appears to be, two words hardly fitting to describe her.
Eleanor’s eyelids open and she tenses upon noticing Edgar, her pupils shrinking similar to a prey’s when face to face with a predator.
“What are you doing here?”
Choosing to ignore the thread of venom in her question, Edgar responds, “The same reason as many times before. To meet with you.”
She huffs a sigh and pushes herself off the door, discarding and throwing her jacket to Edgar before walking to the small kitchen. He barely flinches catching it, keeping his sea green eyes on her form as she moves on steady legs. But Edgar knows better. He can see the almost non-existent twitching of her fingertips as she grabs a mug off the bench to fill with tea.
Edgar stands and walks to the bench to stand next from her, keeping his analytic gaze on her face. He knows he’s pressuring her, that she’ll catch on and give him hell for it. But at this point in time, he will take her complaints as long as he can be certain that she’ll be all right.
(Since when did I start being aware of your happiness?)
After what felt like hours, Eleanor finally lifts her gaze to Edgar. The red veins pop against the whites of her eyes, her purple eyes more dazzling and distressed in contrast. He frowns, his hand moving not from his own accord to brush his thumb under her eyes, tracing the faint dark circles outlining her face.
“What happened?”
The sound of her hand smacking his away seems to echo in Edgar’s mind, the physical pain almost non-existent to the weight gradually settling on his heart. She turns to walk away, but Edgar grabs her wrist and holds on tight, correctly anticipating her attempt at wriggling free.
“Eleanor.”
He can feel the muscles in her wrist move as she clenches her fist tight. Her shoulders bunch up around her neck before letting them fall with a long, exhausted sigh.
“They’re out.”
Whatever he was expecting her to say, that was not it.
(“They’re”? Meaning...no, surely not her family.)
“What? But I thought you said that they would be locked away for years, possibly decades. How could they be out?”
“How the hell would I know?! Don’t ask such stupid questions!”
Edgar recoils at the bite in her acidic words, his grip loosening enough for Eleanor to rip her hand free. She turns to face him, her eyes burning with a myriad of emotions: anger, confusion, panic.
“What matters now is that they’re out and they’re coming to get me! I’m not safe here and I need to find somewhere where I will be! Which is next to impossible since they used to run this entire fucking town!”
Her words spill from her a mile a minute, Edgar’s expression falling at her slowly unravelling calm demeanour.
“It’s okay, Eleanor. I can give you refuge in the Red Army for the time being and we can find a more permanent residence with time. Getting desperate isn’t going to help in any way.”
She knows he’s right, but her better judgement is outcompeted for control by her storming emotions. The agony and pure ferocity in her eyes make Edgar tense.
“Of course you can say that,” she says darkly, her teeth clenching in barely repressed rage, “You have no idea what I’m going through! You’re still stuck under the thumb of your family! You’re safe! Mine are out of prison and probably already have a plan to murder me! Don’t you fucking dare try to say things are okay because they’re far from it!”
Edgar’s eyes darken at Eleanor’s words, the barrier he erects as his uncle’s cold-blooded killing puppet surrounding him fully, “Stop. Don’t speak like you’re worse off than me.”
She laughs, the sound empty and mirthless accompanying her plastic smile, “Forgive me, but I think I have a reason to be fucking petrified right now. Nowhere is safe, I can’t trust anyone and the only one I can trust is someone who’s as fucked up as I am! Sorry for feeling entitled to a fucking mental breakdown over you!!”
As swift as the wind, Edgar closes the gap between them, grabbing Eleanor’s wrists in a death grip. She stumbles back, regaining her balance to bring her knee up to connect with his stomach. Edgar side-steps before she can make contact and he pulls her with him, the two of them tumbling to the ground in a mess of limbs fighting for control. Edgar’s leaner, more agile body pins Eleanor’s below him, his legs straddling her waist and her wrists still tight in his grip pressed hard to the floor on either side of her head. She glares daggers at him from close range, his face impassive yet the determined fire in his eyes doesn’t go unnoticed.
“What the hell is this going to accomplish, huh?! Nothing you do is going to help me! I’m going to be murdered in cold blood by the family I betrayed!” She screams at him, her voice hoarse with torture. Her attempts at breaking free of his shackles lessen in strength each time, her voice following suit as her previously impassioned shouts now become nothing more than meek whimpers, “...I deserve this. I knew this was going to happen eventually. What does it matter, right? No one will care if a broken, impure monster gets her karma.”
Eleanor bites her lower lip, the strain in her face to hold back her tears and onto her dignity tearing down Edgar’s emotionless barrier. He blinks down at her, watching mesmerised as a single tear spills from the corner of her eye and trails smoothly down her cheek.
“I...I deserve this. God, I really deserve this. I’ll die as corrupt as I lived.”
“Stop--”
“Why? So you can remind me that you’re as fucked as me? At least you’re not in danger--”
“Eleanor, stop!”
She winces as Edgar’s grip tightens on her wrists. He stares into her eyes, the unadulterated pain and dread swirling in her usually calm and clear lavender eyes unsettling Edgar in a way he’s never felt before. He leans over her, their noses hovering a hair’s width away from each other, his breath ghosting over her skin as he murmurs to her.
“You’re here, you’re alive. We can get through this. No, we have to get through this, because there is no way in Hell I’m letting you go.”
(What am I saying?)
Edgar’s thoughts congeal into an uneasy feeling sitting in the pit of his stomach, unsure of why he feels so strongly about this woman’s presence in his life. Eleanor stares trance-like at the man above her, barely registering the words that fall from her lips.
“I...want to live. If not for myself, then for you. You...I don’t know why, but I need you.”
(What am I saying?)
She squeezes her eyes shut, another rogue tear spilling free to roll from her face to the floor. With a sigh under his breath, Edgar loosens his hold on her and moves off of her before pulling her gently upright. His hands slide to her waist to pull her into an embrace, his cold hands tingling through his gloves at the warmth of her body. Eleanor rests her head in the crook of his neck, breathing in his scent as her hands move to clutch weakly at the collar of his shirt.
Who knows how long they stayed like that, both sinners seeking the phantom warmth of the other. Eleanor is the first to move, leaning back to meet Edgar’s eyes. While puffy and red, Edgar relaxes at the clear focus in her eyes that he so fondly recognises.
“I’m sorry. That was uncalled for and I didn’t mean to attack you.”
Edgar chuckles softly, his relief palpable as he wipes a gloved finger under her eye to catch a remnant tear on her eyelash, “I know.”
A comfortable silence passes before she speaks again, her confidence faltering, “Do you really think you can help me? The last thing I want is for you to get caught up in my business.”
“I will do everything in my power to keep you safe. Like I said, I’m not letting you go.”
After so much turmoil and agony, finally, Eleanor smiles. And despite the obvious strain in the action, Edgar couldn’t be more relieved.
“It’s funny, isn’t it? How people like us still manage to find solace even when we both know we don’t deserve it.”
He smiles, his hand moving to stroke her glossy hair, “I think us being impure is precisely why we can find solace in one another.”
“Hm,” Eleanor hums her agreement, “Finding comfort in the darkness of another, huh? How fitting.”
They both laugh together, the sound neither jovial nor melancholic. They remain that way, both keeping each other close as they let the other’s impurity transfer to them - the shared darkness between them a shared burden, a lifeline to both Edgar and Eleanor to stop them being consumed and eaten alive by the impurity tainting their hearts.

Ilandere [my daughter my darling baby girl] [novel character - sci fi - sisterworlds!verse]
Full Name: Ilandere CirilaGender and Sexuality: she’s a gal and… errrr demisexual lesbian??? aro/ace with an exception???? she is in love with one woman and. that is kind of the end-all-be-all of her sexualityPronouns: she/herEthnicity/Species: Human, but non-earth human so it’s hard to say exact ethnicity? hold up i know i have a pic, and Set you (you wonderful person you) asked for a pic in another ask so…
Tumblr media
ignore the self-deprecation, pls, she’s got brown skin and freckles and long wavy hair and bright… bright teal eyes…
Birthplace and Birthdate: Er. non-earth again so. 17 Eshana moon, year 305 of the imperial calendar, which means nothing to nobody, and she was born in out in the suburban sprawl near Asmara cityGuilty Pleasures: fairy tales. she’s kind of a…. scientific prodigy, and ‘frivolous’ pursuits are kind of frowned upon in her culture, so she keeps her interest in fairy tales and mythology on the dl for the most partPhobias: well. ilandere, you see, works primarily on the theoretical physics of portals, so she has a fairly… deep seated, and very well informed… fear of portal fragging. like. being partway through a portal when it closes? being…. cut in pieces by a portal ceasing to be. that…. terrifies her, at the deepest level. What They Would Be Famous For: Oh well she’s kind of a mathematical genius? and she kind of is famous for that? she’s ‘one of the most promising scientific minds of her generation’What They Would Get Arrested For: um. not returning library books on time. is literally the ONLY THING i can think of.OC You Ship Them With: Kalinda :3OC Most Likely To Murder Them: holy shit. nobody in the fucking multiverse are you kidding. she is. the sweetest and kindest person. in those ‘should you fight’ memes she’s the fucking one who gets ‘yeah you can beat her but WHY WOuLD YOU WANT TO YOU MONSTER’Favorite Movie/Book Genre: she doesn’t much watch movies or plays, she has a really hard time keeping focus on them and she tends to get distracted by ideas for her work halfway through. books tho! she is literally always reading! she loves to read math books straight up. lil nerd. she likes biographies too, and, seeeecretly, mythology & fairy tale booksLeast Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: Nerd Girl Gets Makeover And Suddenly Has Straight Hair And Doesn’t Need Her Glasses And Is Pretty Now Really And Suddenly Deserves The Boy!!!!! like ew she hates that shit as both a nerd and as someone who has less than zero interest in boys.Talents and/or Powers: Did I already say math genius? p sure yeah. Also. and this is something she doesn’t know anything about. Something that’s literally just meta knowledge that I know. She has a sort of…. aura of influence? She’s magnetic. She just attracts attention (positive or negative) naturally, wherever she goes, without meaning to or really trying. Why Someone Might Love Them: She is. Bubbly and enthusiastic, she is brilliant and bright and generous and chipper and she’s. my baby. Why Someone Might Hate Them: she…. can get really caught up in herself? she might forget about everything around her because of whatever she’s working on just then? She’s also not… particularly humble? she’s not a braggart but she also doesn’t know how to… downplay her skills for other people’s comfort? like, her attention grabbing aura will occasionally breed… jealousy and spite? but frankly it usually doesn’t last past actually getting to know her.How They Change: !!!!! I’ll tell you when i actually write the book!!!!!! no but really she is eventually supposed to learn how to live in the moment, to…. really see other people around her? to realize that the world around her isn’t some dream she’ll wake up from to start having a ‘real life’, if that makes sense? she has an all-encompassing goal for much of her story that she lets absolutely consume her, and she sort of… learns eventually… that that was something of a mistake, even though she does get what she wants in the end. She missed out on her friends and family while they were right there with her.Why You Love Them: real talk tho ilandere and kalinda together were some of my first Real, Serious OCs. they were…. between the two of them, they were me exploring my sexuality. they were me becoming okay with liking ladies. and they’ve both grown just. just sooooo much with me. ilandere -  i played her and kalinda in this big fun larp my now-bf was running, and they really helped me build my storytelling, build my acting. Ilandere was a soft, brainy kid stuck with a bunch of fighters, and she could still keep up and prove her value with her mind and her talents and her generosity of spirit, and i love her so. so so very much. She’s grown with me too- she helped me come to terms with my autism, and i realized that i had always played her- with that part of me? her odd speech patterns, her social skills that she worked so hard on but didn’t come easily to her, her stimming! she is just- i can’t emphasize enough how much she means to me, as a character, as an extension of myself.
Kalinda [novel character - fantasy- sisterworlds!verse]
Full Name: Kalinda Flint Beryl (look gemstone surnames are really common on her world it’s totally not weird)Gender and Sexuality: lesbian!Pronouns: she/herEthnicity/Species: non-earth human again, i’ve been revamping her look lately so i don’t actually have a faceclaim or anything yet, but i think like, in earth terms she’d be southeast asian? maybe?Birthplace and Birthdate: urgh uh midsummer in the year 1105 AK (she is two years older than Ilandere, as far as that relativity nonsense goes, since they’re from…… different fucking planets), and she was born out in the countryside, in her mum’s cottageGuilty Pleasures: pretty much… everything? she doesn’t actually…. spend any intentional time on pleasure? she kind of deprives herself of anything that could distract her from her goals, at all. So like. enjoying a fucking sunset for two seconds would make her feel guilty and pissed off.Phobias: claustrophobia, and also certain specific types of magic? like the kind of…. ancient, deep magic that lives in the bones of the earth, that lives in the void between stars, that lives in the undercurrents of death. that kind of magic. What They Would Be Famous For: She’s a fairly skilled swordsmith, a fairly skilled mage, and a fairly skilled fighter all around, but she’s none of those things enough to be really…. famous for them? What They Would Get Arrested For: hahahaha i didn’t think about this when i wrote Ilandere’s but. straight up for stealing books. that has. actually happened.OC You Ship Them With: Ilandere!!!!! :DOC Most Likely To Murder Them: Hrm. She has a parental figure, her smithing mentor? who is pretty dang peeved off at Kalinda for the. like. the way she chose to live her life? but prooooobably only enough to. y’know. smack her around a bit in frustrated affection? yeah.Favorite Movie/Book Genre: magic…. tomes…. she hasn’t read for fun since childhood, alasLeast Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: she seriously Does Not CareTalents and/or Powers: She’s a spellsword, and her magic specialization is like, some weird combination of nature/flora magic and… void magic. Why Someone Might Love Them: she has a central core of tempered steel. she is strong and unwavering. and despite her insistence on prioritizing her own goals above all else, she will still stop to help others if she sees them in trouble (tho she might pretend to grumble about it). Why Someone Might Hate Them: she’s also kind of unapproachable, and could possible be seen as… like…. heartless? she’s very very good at acting like she doesn’t care about other people, provided they aren’t in immediate danger. and she just doesn’t have the fucking time of day for small talk or petty problems, and she’s spent so much time on her own that her social skills completely suckHow They Change: she keeps that steely incorruptible core, but she slowly, painfully learns to soften her edges. to actually value the cliche and stop to smell the roses. it’s not easy to transition into finally having what you spent your whole life wanting, but eventually… she learns to take comfort as it comes. Why You Love Them: All the reasons in the same section of Ilandere’s set, because these two babes area package deal with me. Also, because i am a spiteful creator and i am sick to death of ‘tuff gurl is straight 2 break stereotypes!’ and Kalinda is my short haired, sword slinging, hard-scrabble, tough-as-nails, lesbian baby. Kalinda helped me learn to be… unapologetic.
Callise [rp character]
Full Name: she… doesn’t have one? her actual designation is ‘Calypso’, but she does not know that.Gender and Sexuality: she’s bi, and she might, eventually, come to understand herself as nonbinary? but she doesn’t do a lot of introspection so for all intents & purposes she’s a woman.Pronouns: she/herEthnicity/Species: human/living portal storm??????Birthplace and Birthdate: in… a lab…. at some undisclosed time…. that no one knows anymore because that dimension….. is gone… holy shit why am i like thisGuilty Pleasures: ohhhh she does not believe in this concept at all. Callise is sort of a live-for-the-moment um. hedonist? look she suffers a LOT throughout her nonsense life so she isn’t gonna care about eating some fuckign cake or having some sex, ya dig?Phobias: enclosed spaces, being restrained, deserts, starving to deathWhat They Would Be Famous For: ????? being….. fucked the fuck up???? and feral?????????What They Would Get Arrested For: literally not giving an entire shit about the laws of any fucking world she’s onOC You Ship Them With: a glass of warm milk & a fucking good night’s sleepOC Most Likely To Murder Them: anyone… who is easily scared by teeth gnashing and snarling i suppose?Favorite Movie/Book Genre: she doesn’t consume a LOT of media? and she typically can’t read the languages on the worlds she’s stuck on? but she fucking loves popcorn action movies and shitty comedies and just stuff that’s Fun she doesn’t have to think about at alllllll Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: …. evil scientists are a genuine trigger for herTalents and/or Powers: um. she’s. her physical form is irretrievably merged with a portal storm. like, a storm in spacetime that punches holes into various multiversal dimensions? she can sometimes control it? in little bits? but mostly it manifests as the storm completely… demolishing whatever world she’s in at that moment? usually it takes a few years after she comes to a place, but eventually the storm will ‘catch up’ to her, and the longer she’s been there the worse it will be, and then the storm will fuck up the world and…. kill her. and she will wake up on the next world. if she dies in another way, she’ll wake up in the next place anyway regardless. she really, really doesn’t understand it, not even to the point of knowing that she is the storm. she thinks the storm is chasing her. Why Someone Might Love Them: she’s…. uh… very honestly herself? she is 10000% in the moment and earnest about everything. she has no deception whatsoever within herself. Why Someone Might Hate Them: … she has no deception whatsoever within herself. she is indescribably blunt. she is… kind of animalistic and violent and doesn’t care about laws or social rules and she does things, sometimes, on the smallest fucking whim, including occasionally biting people??? and punching things and people for fun??? like she loves fighting people and sometimes it’s sort of foreplay too??? and breaking stuff just to break stuff? so… yeahHow They Change: oh Cal changes so much over the course of her long, long, looooooong life, and not always for the better? she kind of slips…. depending on how she’s treated on each world she portals to, she slips in and out of feral!Cal mode? if she’s chased and hunted, if she’s locked up, if she’s treated with violence, she’ll go wild. She, as a character, kind of reflects how she’s treated at any given time? Why You Love Them: she’s my monster child. i mean, she’s kind of a vent character? and because of her nature, i can slip her into any sort of narrative i feel like atm, which makes her a pretty fun rp character. if she dies, she dies! that particular narrative is donezo, oh well, but she gets to run off and have adventures somewhere else! it’s really fun
Enna [novel character - fantasy - elementals!verse]
Full Name: *rubs my horrible hands together* okay there is a reincarnation component to the is character so??? the first name she was given was Endellion Devlin, her title is Phoenix, and she’s had like eighteen other names including Aideen Lucero and Shea EdenGender and Sexuality: bisexual, and genderfluid between usually a woman and agender or male more occasionallyPronouns:depends what gender she’s feeling, so usually she/herEthnicity/Species: human/elemental, and bc of that reincarnation element her ethnicity changes from lifetime to lifetimeBirthplace and Birthdate: er. lots of different ones? again with the non-earth world. i’m quite predictable on that front. (i kind of hate/suck at writing plain old earth)Guilty Pleasures: hmm…. well…. she feels a bit… low-key guilty about… how much she enjoys fighting? like the physical act of fighting, she takes lot of joy in, and she feels weird about that because… obviously… fighting hurts peoplePhobias: confinement, death, drowningWhat They Would Be Famous For: leading a rebellion to overthrow a bigoted oppressive regime :3What They Would Get Arrested For: leading a rebellion to overthrow a bigoted oppressive regime :3OC You Ship Them With: Lerato, also, Sil TivanOC Most Likely To Murder Them: oh, pretty much anyone in the Creed (aforementioned bigotd oppressive regime), but mostly Raith. who kind of… has? actually? killed her. at least three times.Favorite Movie/Book Genre: sheeeee…. doesn’t actually read or consume media p much ever? she’s too action oriented. she doesn’t like stopping to watch/read things. but if she did…….. soppy romanceLeast Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: ditto above response minus the endingTalents and/or Powers: mmm she’s a fire elemental, can produce and manipulate fire/heat, and kindasorta fly with it? also, elemental powers in this world present at puberty (yes kind of like x men thanx), and enna can sense whether or not a child is going to develop into an elemental later in lifeWhy Someone Might Love Them: she is pure fucking passion sculpted into human form. she’s the kind of person to dance barefoot outside in a thunderstorm, splashing in literally every puddle. plus she is just really very compassionate, protective, honest, funWhy Someone Might Hate Them: hmmmmmm because she is unapologetic about everything she does. she’s a fighter and she will fight you if you threaten the people she cares about, and she will not pull her punches. not at all.How They Change: during the novel i’m planning/writing, she starts off in an odd place emotionally, because she’s been… conditioned, sort of, to repress herself, and control herself, which is really really contrary to her nature, and she has to spend the first third of the story unlearning that training and becoming herself again, tho she’s feeling very burnt out about her… purpose… at that point? Then, something happens that fucks with her… worldview, and her sense of self, and she runs away, which is also pretty damn against her nature, or at least against the way she’s always lived her life, and then she spends some time learning how to slow down and enjoy things again, and remembering why it is that she fights in the first place, and who she fights for, and then… that ends really poorly too. the last part of the novel is her companion slowly slowly earning her trust back, and Enna coming back into her own as a leader and a fighter and as a whole person, finally, instead of just a symbol. Why You Love Them: Enna was created not long after Ilandere & Kalinda, meaning that she came pretty early in my creative growth, and so a lot of her meta character changes are really relevant to my life? she another bi baby of mine. also… i really like to hope that i would be as brave as her if i was in her position. she’s an ideal for me, and i aspire to be like her.
Lerato [novel character - fantasy - elementals!verse]
Full Name: Lerato SorchaGender and Sexuality: bi womanPronouns: she/herEthnicity/Species: human/elementalBirthplace and Birthdate: i’m gonna leave this at a very very long fucking time ago in a place that burned to the groundGuilty Pleasures: look poor Lerato feels guilty about a lot of very legitimate things, but she doesn’t waste a lot of time berating herself for small pleasuresWhat They Would Be Famous For: Back In The Day, she’d be famous for the whole revolutionary leader thing that Enna takes over from her, but nowadays she really prefers to hang out in the background, on the sidelines, offering support and advice. she is TiredWhat They Would Get Arrested For: i mean. collusion with a known resistance leader, so.OC You Ship Them With: Ennaaaaaaaaaaaaa. she really really really loves Enna, just, so fucking much. for all the good it does either of them.OC Most Likely To Murder Them: Raith holy shit, because Raith is a jealous horrible. um. monster. and yet again. has actually killed Lerato before. but only once. and also Gideon would, because of that whole being a leader in the Creed thing.Favorite Movie/Book Genre: she likes poetry an awful lot.Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: love triangles.Talents and/or Powers: she’s also an elemental, but substantially older than Enna, and her powers present a bit differently. she can teleport in a kind of hazy burst, can recover from damage by ‘fading’ out, and she can sense elementals at a distance (this sense is particularly attuned to Enna, actually, and one or two others)Why Someone Might Love Them: she is very sensitive and attentive to other people’s emotional states, and she is loyal to a fucking fault. if she thinks you are deserving, she will 100% fucking die for you. she’s also like… fierce and gentle at the same time? she makes me think of turtledoves and rainclouds and campfire smoke and i find her utterly loveableWhy Someone Might Hate Them: she never fucking says what she fucking means, and she keeps pretending that she doesn’t feel anything when she’s fucking dying inside because she fucking thinks that being self-sacrificing will somehow! fucking! help! anything!  also she has been known to… string people along, because she doesn’t want to hurt them, so she just… she’ll deliberately neglect to clarify her emotions because she’s afraid to make someone else feel bad about them. it’s not dishonesty… but it is p much cowardice. How They Change: Lerato learns that a) sacrificing yourself is not always the best fucking option, especially not when you haven’t consulted the person being protected, and b) you don’t get what you actually want if you don’t say what you actually want and c) …  that she deserves to be treated well, that she deserves and always did deserve better, that she didn’t deserve abuse and coercion, that she can be and should be happy. Why You Love Them: Well, Lerato started as kind of a… if Enna was who i wanted to be, then Lerato kind of formed from this nebulous fictional idea of a person i would want to fall in love with / want to fall in love with me? and thus tbh Lerato changed from a super cliche, jane austen/jane eyre mysterious romantic leading man who would do anything for Enna, and developed slowly into a woman with quite complex motivations and emotions who i still wouldn’t mind doing a smooch with. i am a mature content creator. fuck. so anyway, i love Lerato because… well… i kind of made her to be loved?
Raske [rp character - x files]
Full Name: Harriet Delilah RaskeGender and Sexuality: queer womanPronouns: she/herEthnicity/Species: she? doesn’t know? she’s adopted & her ethnicity’s never really been important to her. also she’s a rare Actual Earth Human from my character rolodex, wow weird.Birthplace and Birthdate: you’d think, considering that whole Actual Earth Human thing i’d have an answer for this? i know her bday is April 7th, but i can’t remember if the rp she’s from took place period to the original x files show or if the gm updated it to modern, and that changes the year sooooGuilty Pleasures: frankly? she kind of secretly enjoys making people feel uncomfortable about her prosthetic leg. if people get weird about it on their own? she makes a point to dial it up and just. low key fuck with them. What They Would Be Famous For: deadpan humor and avoiding her feeliesWhat They Would Get Arrested For: maybe kind of possibly breaking the law in pursuit of Truth That Is Probably Out There?OC You Ship Them With: proper mental heath careOC Most Likely To Murder Them: ~~~Mysterious G Men~~~Favorite Movie/Book Genre: she doesn’t watch movies a lot. She used to really like medical drama tv shows, but now she spends her time listening to audiobooks, usually biographies or historical fictionLeast Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: she hates hates hates the ‘lone sniper’ myth in fictionTalents and/or Powers: she’s a tough cookie and an excellent shot with both a pistol and a rifleWhy Someone Might Love Them: you know how working hard for something makes it seem more worthwhile once you get there? it’s like that with Raske. if you pay enough attention you realize that she’s actually so fucking funny, it’s just that she always delivers her humor completely deadpan. she’s got a lot of subtlety to her in every emotion, so once you get to know her and you can see through her veneer, you realize she’s an awkward, funny, sensitive, endearing worrywart, who only pretends to be totally in control of herself.  and also she could totally throw you over her shoulder and carry you off into the sunset so there’s that angle also ;3Why Someone Might Hate Them: well, if you don’t manage to get through her crunchy exterior, then all you’re gonna wind up seeing is a stone faced gal who never fucking laughs and won’t give anyone the time of day for small talk. also she stole the last cup of coffee and didn’t put a new pot onHow They Change: she gets… way more paranoid…. and also she bonds with her fellow agents in a totally dweeby found-family wayWhy You Love Them: she’s really different from the sorts of characters i usually play rp-wise? i almost always trend towards really emotional characters, and talkative ones, and Raske is kind of the opposite of that? so she really let me stretch out my character building muscles, and she helped me work on more subtle acting.
Blacklight [rp character - superhero!verse]
Full Name: Sabrina Aurore SeaverGender and Sexuality: aro bi gal (i’m realizing a trend, here)Pronouns: she/herEthnicity/Species: mixed race black/Korean metahumanBirthplace and Birthdate: Boston, April 8th, 1989Guilty Pleasures: ehhhh when she was younger she used to be into some recreational drug use (nowadays she mostly just drinks, & she smokes occasionally too)What They Would Be Famous For: her awesomesauce freerunning skillzWhat They Would Get Arrested For: well, y’see, vigilante-ism is technically… actually… very illegalOC You Ship Them With: she hooks up with a lot of people and has a lot of fun with them, but she… doesn’t have… romantic feelies?? p much ever? her and Sharkie (who i s2g i will figure out a real name for eventually) kind of develop a really sweet queerplatonic relationship eventuallyOC Most Likely To Murder Them: mmm Clamor but mostly in a if you get yourself killed i will murder you sort of wayFavorite Movie/Book Genre: bad/good 80′s moviesLeast Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: helpless damsel needs rescuing by Big Strong MahnTalents and/or Powers: copied from her rp blog bio bc i’m a laaazy nb: Her range of vision is substantially better, spanning from ultraviolet to infrared (meaning that she can also ‘see’ heat, to a point). During the day, her body absorbs ultraviolet light and emanates heat without any conscious effort on her part, and at night it does the opposite, causing her body to effectively become a black-light (hence the name). The odd way her skin interacts with light and heat is responsible for her relatively pale complexion, since it makes her incapable of tanning properly, and it also means that she cannot be damaged by heat by itself, though fire, a chemical reaction, can still burn her just fine. She can manipulate and produce infrared, visible spectrum, and ultraviolet light as well, creating bright blinding flashes or heating flammable material until it combusts (though she cannot produce or manipulate fire itself). Why Someone Might Love Them: legitimate love for you, my dude. she’ll risk her idiot skin to save your life and then take you out dancing, she’ll smile like a bonfire and laugh like you’ve said the funniest thing she’s ever heard and she’ll mean it, really and truly. she’s easy to fall in love with because she treats every interaction and every person with attention and care. she is genuinely interested in what you have to say. she will make you feel important, and funny and special, and lmao then she’ll break your fucking heart because yes, she loves you, of course she loves you, she would die for you and she’d help you move, but not like that dude i’m sorry. she doesn’t love you like That. Why Someone Might Hate Them: that last bit, also she’s irreverent and reckless and a bit careless with herself and sometimes other people, because the idea that she could hurt other people’s feelings by putting herself in danger just. doesn’t occur to her? ever? and if you’re nasty to her she will turn into THE BIGGEST SHIT, she goes FULL BRAT MODE and she is. p unlikable when she aims that at yaHow They Change: she learns a) it’s okay that she doesn’t have feelings for people. she’s not broken. she doesn’t need to change herself for someone else. she doesn’t need to pretend. it’s okay. b) being a reckless idiot while in a costume and mask will Get You Shot, dummy. c) you can’t compartmentalize your whole life. things will start to bleed over before you expect them to and it will Not end wellWhy You Love Them: oh, baby blacklight. I came up with her for a larp my bro was running, his superhero verse is Really cool. She started as sort of a tropebreaker? she’s a superhero because she has powers and because she thought it would be FUN. she has literally no angst about her superpowers, she has a pretty cool home life, she isn’t hard up for money, her parents are BOTH ALIVE and she has a halfway decent relationship with them? and i fell in love with that idea hard. also she’s just developed into this really fun, happy, positive person with a good impact on the world, and she lets me live vicariously thru her extroverted party girl self
Clamor [rp character - superhero!verse]
Full Name: Kai “Kitty” MahoeGender and Sexuality: lesbianPronouns: she/herEthnicity/Species: hawaiian, metahumanBirthplace and Birthdate: June 2nd, 1991, Los AngelesGuilty Pleasures: lmao nahWhat They Would Be Famous For: for being the worst low-level villain and stealing the most petty shit ever in history, you already have like eight amps and more fucking sound equipment than any human could ever want, also you can do that with your fucking body already i hate youWhat They Would Get Arrested For: “”OC You Ship Them With: she’s… kind of in love with Blacklight? and it’s a bit fucked up…. she mostly plays it off as No One Fucks With My Hero But Me, but she’s saved Sabrina’s life at least three times and occasionally tries to make out with her under the pretense of near-death adrenalineOC Most Likely To Murder Them: …. Sharkie (god i need a NAME for them)Favorite Movie/Book Genre: period romance Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: the fucking wilhelm screamTalents and/or Powers: she can manipulate sound with her mind/body. she can amplify or muffle noises around her, and she can use a sort of rhythm… frequency… amplification thing to turn sound into a weapon. she can create sonic blasts easily or make someone temporarily deaf. she could do this with just any old noises, but she is fucking Extra and always uses instruments, particularly percussion and particularly drumsticks, tho she can play a bunch of different things. Why Someone Might Love Them: she’s actually p funny and clever and fun to hang out with as a civilian…….Why Someone Might Hate Them: … but her alter-ego is a complete fucking shithead, she’s a selfish dick and she Will Steal Everything You LoveHow They Change: tbh she’s still to early in development for me to know this quite yetWhy You Love Them: i love bratty irreverent characters sometimes
Bonny [novel character - sci fi - Star Stray]
Full Name: Bonny Read CalumniGender and Sexuality: bisexual nonbinary womanPronouns: she/herEthnicity/Species: human Birthplace and Birthdate: she was born on a colony called Atlantis on the moon Europa, at some as-of-yet unspecified Future Year, November 14thGuilty Pleasures: she sneaks off to places she shouldn’t be on every single spaceship she’s been on. she loves finding secret places to hide, and she uses them like an earth kid would use a tree fort, to keep her little treasures and private stuff, and to hide from her momWhat They Would Be Famous For: well… acheiving First Contact with an alien species lmaoWhat They Would Get Arrested For: … nothing??? she is actually quite a sweet young woman, not exactly criminal material, unlike most of my oc children.OC You Ship Them With: her long distance friend/crush/ex, DalOC Most Likely To Murder Them: there are a few angry splinter factions that are veeery against the nasty alien creature that came from the sky, so probably them?Favorite Movie/Book Genre: she loves YA, specifically dystopian YALeast Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: she hates the super smart child prodigy clicheTalents and/or Powers: she’s really good at taking things apart and fixing them, and she’s really great at figuring out how mechanical things work. Why Someone Might Love Them: she will fix the AC in your room and bring you snacks and listen to you vent about your day and give you a comisserating, rueful smile. when the conversation lulls, she’ll come out with an unexpected joke just to surprise you into laughing. she will dance ot any music. she will go to a museum full of stuff she doesn’t actually care much about or understand just to make silly jokes about everything there with you. look she’s just. dweeby but charming about it anyway. Why Someone Might Hate Them: her anger issues make her difficult to get along with sometimes? she tends to bottle her feelings and then eventually, inevitably explodesHow They Change: mmmm she stops hiding her desires to make other people happy, and she um. learns not to be an asshole to aliens for no reason? and to be fcking respectful of Vmna and their cultureWhy You Love Them: she a good space girl. lov her. sorry i’m so damn tired
Vmna [novel character - sci fi - Star Stray]
Full Name: [i fucking wrote their name wrong in the tag bc i’m ridiculous, and also i can’t remember ipa and their language is super weird so this is going to be unpronounceable]   k’ Vmna nksGender and Sexuality: Vmna’s people don’t actually have a concept of ‘gender’ that in any way parallels human gender, so they kind of don’t have sexuality either? like as a conceptPronouns: they/themEthnicity/Species: their species doesn’t really have a translatable name, but Bonny tends to call them ‘centaurs’Birthplace and Birthdate: [insert words that don’t fucking make sensewithout the context of the novel]Guilty Pleasures: What They Would Be Famous For: being the first of her species to actually speak with and make friends with an alien life formWhat They Would Get Arrested For: maybe for sneaking Fun contraband to the alien without permissionOC You Ship Them With: i believe that'll have to wait for the sequel novel! but she is totally gonna wind up falling for a human i betOC Most Likely To Murder Them: ditto Bonny’s answer, because they consider Vmna complicitFavorite Movie/Book Genre: there’s a specific genre on their world that’s p much just ‘comfort fiction’, like? just sound/image/smell/story combinations that are made to be pure comfort. they love those.Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: lmao in fiction on their world has a cliche of all aliens looking like mis-colored versions of their own species but, like, with weird feet usuallyTalents and/or Powers: Vmna is very good at linguistics Why Someone Might Love Them: they are attentive and clever, and they’re ridiculously empatheticWhy Someone Might Hate Them: no good reason goddamn. Vmna is lovelyHow They Change: Vmna learns to appreciate Earth Music and Earth Idioms and Earth Humor, and they also grow to be more confident in their skills as a linguist  and a sociologistWhy You Love Them: Vmnaaaaaaaa is super cool and they’re also like, the Primo Example of me spitewriting? because their ENTIRE species exists because i’m hella bitter about shitty alien design in fiction? like i haaaaate miscolored Space Babe design? i hate boring anthropocentric alien design???? SO MUCH??? as someone once said (i think it was Dal?) (and i’m paraphrasing), CONVERGENT EVOLUTION WILL ONLY GET YOU SO FAR, there is NO REASON for alien design to be boring! Except for LACK OF IMAGINATION. SO! Vmna’s species are weird centaur/elephant folks who have big spike-claw feet and move vertically as easily as they move horizontally, and they have no gender and they communicate emotion partially thru scent/pheremones, and they see color different, and a bunch of other shit i’ve forgotten since i wrote the novel, and Vmna themself is just. The Epitome. of their species. in my head. and i love them
AND WITH THAT I THINK I’M DONE???? WOW THANK U SET THIS WAS FUN IF EXHAUSTING! and i hope this is even marginally interesting to someone besides meself
