I feel like the first time Clark listened in on Bruce was probably an accident. Like his heartbeat is always in the background of Clarks awareness and then one day Clark noticed that it started increasing in a different way and a different time than usual Batman things so Clark investigated, just to see what was going on make sure everything was alright and then oh. OH.

And of course he immediately stopped listening, that's a private moment, and it was an honest mistake to overhear. But then from that moment on whenever Bruce's heartrate kicked up in his awareness, there's always a tiny thought in the back of Clarks head of 'oh is he? No don't think about it'

And Clark may be an alien and have the powers of a god, but he is truly just a man and how long can a person resist temptation such as that?

How long can he resist wanting to make that 2-4 bpm increase from Bruce's baseline more of a 20-40 bpm increase, ya know what I mean? 😏

Even “lucky ones” seems to have a double meaning here — just like in the song — because we’ve actually been ostracized from the fandom even though we’ve known all along.
