I know I'll probably be ignored about this but I think people need to hear that...
•Genya is not her full name. Her full name would be Evgeniya (eh-v-g-EH-n-ih-ah) Safin. Soft form is 'Genechka'. And actually, in right russian Safin would be Safina, because it is feminine form of the last name.
•Nikolai's short form would be 'Kolya'.
•'Lina', 'Alya' or 'Nina' is short for Alina. If you want her nickname to sound softly it should be 'Alinochka'. Starkov is masculin form, feminine form of this last name is Starkova.
•Tolya is short for Anatoliy.
•Tamar (in russian more commonly pronounced as Tamara) can be called 'Toma' or 'Tomochka' as a form of endearment.
•Nadia is short for Nadejda (naa-DYEHZH-daa). Nadia, a girl, is Zhabina, Adrik, her brother, a boy, is Zhabin.
•Aleksander's nickname is Sasha, english fanbase already grasped this. His last name in right russian would be Morozov, while Baghra and Ulla remain with 'Morozova'.

so. First of all I love your blog. Seriously I think you are one of the person who have comman sense in this fandom. I like everything you post. While scrolling through Tumblr I came across the usual anti darkling post ( he is groomer , murderer etc etc ) i did the thing I usually do when I came across such thing : I skip. A tag caught my eye. I don't remember but it's say something like : the only reason you like him is that he is Ben Barnes if darkling is a girl you couldn't like him. Which made me think what if darkling was a girl and alina as a boy. I just image a sexy hot black hair women with pale skin and grey eyes and morozova genes. Which..........is enough to made me think if I am a Bi 🤔. That image has not left me for a week and my dreams. So my question is
What do you think might happen if darkling is a girl and alina is a boy. How might the events of SaB and SaS will be affected. And m*lina too,of mal is a girl too. You thoughts 🤔
Thank you so much, anon! It makes me happy to know that others enjoy my blog and content. 😍
First of all about what that anti said: I personally didn't like Ben Barnes as the Darkling so it obviously doesn't apply. And even if the Darkling was a girl I would still root for her. I root for any character that fights for something better, for a positive change to happen among such oppression. And I think that's one of the major reasons his fans love him as well.
Now about your question: Boy, I would love to see that. I was always attracted to dangerous women, especially the ones that combine beauty and slyness (like Milady in "The Musketeers" or Morgana from "Merlin" post season 2).
But I don't think the story would be affected that much with the only exception that Alina in a male form would probably not be slut shamed for his attraction to the Darkling (in this version she would be called Aleksandra which is a fact that I love!)
The Darkling would remain an interesting character but, God, does that mean that Alina as a man would still avoid his duties?? 😭
And Mal as a girl. She would obviously be popular and well-liked by everyone but imagine that: she would sleep around with many guys and then attack her best friend for falling in love with a girl that isn't her. Well, for one thing it doesn't stick. You see if Mal as a girl fucked around then she would be called a whore (just like Alina was indirectly called one by Mal for wanting Aleksander) while in the original story when Mal did that no one raised a single eyebrow. So we live in a fictional world where if you do that as a guy then you're okay but if you're a girl then you should be called a prostitute. And Leigh had Mal get away with his behavior so she was more willing to let Mal pass with his sexist behavior than the Darkling who had enough and tried to put end to his people slaughter for good.
Anyway, I believe Mal's character would change a lot if he was a girl (primarily his fuckboy nature because the author doesn't allow a girl to have sexual liberation in her books) and I have a feeling she would be boring (again). And I don't think she would be a tracker?
Alina as a man wouldn't be slut shamed (because he's a man 🤷) but he would still avoid the Darkling. Nevertheless the chemistry would be off the charts. And the Darkling would slay like always. She would be the personification of femme fatale but her goal would be selfless and true like always. For some reason, I imagine her as a very seductive figure (although my wishful thinking might be speaking here).
The real question here is how the relationship between the Darkling as a girl and her mother, Baghra would be. Would Baghra want a daughter in the first place but she got stuck with Aleksandra because it was her only child that shared her powers? Or if Baghra had no problem with her child's sex, would she still be that possessive and controlling over her?
My own answer is yes and Baghra would most definitely leave a trauma to the Darkling even if she was a girl. That woman has no parenting skills in any universe. Just like I can't see the Darkling be anything else other than a fighter and a survivor in any other scenario.

who is sasha
sasha is the russian diminutive for the name aleksander! other varying levels of familiarity beyond that are sashenka and the much less polite sashka. the person I was referencing was aleksander morozova (ie the darkling) from shadow and bone, who is of (fantasy) russian descent.
similarly, alina’s nicknames would be lina, alya, alinochka, alinushka, linochka, and other such variations. I believe linka is also commonly used.

Alina Starkov
"Did you apply to this for me?" Alina held up the scholarship letter she'd gotten that afternoon. He was tall, with blue eyes, with a kind of affable charm that made everyone like him from girls, to grandmas, to crotchety uncles. The two of them had grown up at Ana Kuya's orphanage together, before eventually being shipped off to a boarding school thanks to some orphan's fund in Ravka.
They were graduating in a month. Mal had decided to enlist, even though Alina had begged and pleaded with him not to. He thought it was the only way he could get into college. Since then, he'd been bugging her about her future. Alina had no grand plans for herself beyond being able to own her own flat, and put food on the table.
It was hard to think of dreams when you were only trying to survive.
"Dear Miss Starkov,
We're pleased to inform you that you've been accepted to Royal Ravka University…" Mal paused, and let out a whoop before hugging her tightly. "Lina, that's amazing! No, I didn't. Maybe one of your teachers?"
Alina shook her head then took the letter back from him. "No, I haven't said anything about college to anyone. It's odd…it's something to do about studying mythology. Apparently, they saw my art portfolio and liked it."
Mal raised an eyebrow. "You're sketches of those old, Ravkaan myths? The sea whip and the firebird and what was the other one?"
"The Stag," Alina replied. "It's weird. It says I've got a full-ride scholarship to study them, and…it's from The Morozova Foundation. That's why I thought maybe you had something to do with it."
Mal stiffened. Mal had come to the orphanage when he was five, delivered by his mother. She had had the same brown hair and blue eyes as him. The same kind of good looks that made everyone fall in love instantly. Or, maybe she would have, once upon a time. But when Alina saw her bring Mal to the orphanage, she had been sickly, and had had a haunted look in her eyes.
Alina had remembered watching her in the hallway through the crack in the door of Ana Kuya's office. "…I can't escape his father as long as I've got him, and he won't escape being with his father…he's….he's powerful…" she had said.
"Can I ask…"
"I can't say. But…I was a secretary at The Morozova Foundation. I'm sure you've heard the stories."
Ana Kuya flinched. "Yes. I've heard the stories. Of course, we'll take him."
Mal's mother had kissed him on the head, then left the orphanage as if she thought she were being chased by creatures from the shadowlands the Ravkaan Saint of Death took people to. Since then, it had been Alina, and Mal. But there were noticeable differences.
Mal was allowed to go into the city for trips once a year. He had birthdays. His clothes were the finest of everything. Although whenever he got packages, for something like Winter Solstice, or he tossed them into the trash without a word. Alina knew, in her bones, it had something to do with the Morozova's.
They were a powerful family. She saw their pictures often online, or in the magazines at the check stand, or The Ravkaan Times. The resemblance was uncanny between Mal and the Morozova men. Particularly to the Morozova heir, Aleksander. The same sharp features. The same, charming smile.
But the blue eyes were his mothers. All of the Morozova men had eyes the color of grey smoke. The smoke that came with the shadow creatures that took you to your death. Alina remembered seeing them as a child. They'd come for her mother, and her father, and that was how she wound up at the orphanage. They'd lived on the border of Ravka, near the Shu Han. They'd both been stationed there, soldiers.
It had been an easy post. It meant they didn't have to move anywhere. But the shadow creatures…the Volcra…legend had it that was where the entrance to the Saints world was. That they guarded it. So, they were strongest there. Alina vowed she'd never see a Volcra again. They only came, after all, if you had blood on your hands. Any soldier would see them.
So, Alina would never be a soldier.
"You know I don't talk to my family," Mal said, "and I don't ask anything from them, either. Not after what they did to my mother…they left her to die."
"Okay. But I thought I needed to show you. I didn't feel comfortable just taking it, because I don't know why it's been given to me."
Mal sighed. "Honestly, if you were enlisting with me, I'd tell you to say fuck them. But I don't want you ending up on the street. Even if it means taking their hush money."
Alina laughed. "Hush money? What am I hushing about?"
"Me, I suspect," Mal said with a cheeky grin, "you know too much, Starkova. Look, if you want to take it, I won't stop you. Just, be careful. Once you take money from a Morozova, it's like them taking your soul."
Alina laughed. "I think I lost that a long time ago somewhere in between my parents dying and the whole being a poor orphan thing."
"Oh please," he said, "the world could be at it's worst, Lina, and you'd still radiate pure sunshine."
Alina beamed. "I suppose there are worse things to be known for."
"So, you're going to take it?"
She stared at the letter. "I don't know. I mean, I applied for a few other art scholarships and I'm on the waiting lists. I never really saw myself studying mythology. I feel like I'm taking it from someone that might actually want it."
Mal snorted. "Trust me, you aren't. The mythology department is kept alive by the foundation. My great, great, uncle or something started it. He thought all of those myths were the key to a better future for Ravka."
"You don't believe in them?" Alina said. "Why's that so far-fetched? We've got a Saint living in the palace as an advisor to the King, Volcra that steal people away when they die, and we visited the Grisha palace every year at school. You know, those people with magical powers that died out because our government used them as soldiers."
"Trust me, Alina, they didn't die out. They just got smarter at hiding."
She tilted her head to the side. "But you draw the line at magical creatures?"
Mal laughed. "There's got to be a line somewhere, right? I draw the line at giant birds and mystical stags. There's enough weirdness in this world."
"I delight in the weird."
"Of course, you do." He nudged her. "You know, we were supposed to be studying for our finals. If you don't graduate, you can kiss that blood money scholarship goodbye."
"Right." Alina tucked the scholarship letter into her backpack. "Very serious now." They went back to studying.
Alina tried, very hard, not to think of the real reason that she might have gotten that scholarship. Because if Mal knew the truth, she didn't think he'd be so keen on the idea of her going there and then…then she'd be back at square one. Without a plan. Or future.

How do you ranked the Season 2 episodes?
Ok I did have to think about this a bit but going from least favourite to my favourite this is how I would rank them and why.
8) 2x08 No Funerals- Whilst this episode had some really great moments in it, I did find it seemed very much like a filler episode, it was just moving people around to where they needed to be ready for season 3. I miss the days when finales of seasons were action packed big episodes, where as this one, despite having two or three really great moments, was actually kind of boring. I mean 15 minutes into this nearly hour long episode and the fold was already gone and Aleks was dead, it kind of dragged from there to be real.
7) 2x07 Meet You In The Meadow- This is one where I don't really remember much that happened in it, I do think it was a much more action packed episode with Aleks' grisha attacking Alina and Co. It was an ok episode but I can't say it was really one that stood out to me.
6) 2x01 No Shelter But Me- This is where it gets a little harder, I did really like this episode I thought it was a solid start to the season but much like the finale it did have that feel of moving the characters to where they needed to be for the season, introducing the new characters etc. Still a really good episode but I just think there were other episodes that had a bit more excitement in them.
5) 2x05 Yuyeh Sesh (Despise Your Heart)- This was another episode that I thought was really good particularly the crows story line and that wanting makes you weak scene between darklina, I also like the convo between Alina and Baghra, but there were moments when this episode felt a little slow. But it was still a really good episode.
4) 2x02 Rusalye- I did enjoy this episode particularly the scenes with Nikolai and Alina and I also liked seeing the sea whip. The tether scene between darklina was also one of their best tether scenes in my opinion. Again the crows storyline was really good and had alot of tense moments and plenty of action.
3) 2x06 Ni Weh Sesh (I Have No Heart)- This one might have come higher in the list if it weren't for the M*lina part of the storyline, alot of the revelations like M*l being the amplifier and from the morozova bloodline I already knew and they just didn't have that much of an emotional impact on me to be honest. That being said Baghra's death and seeing Aleks grief really did gut punch me, also the story with Sankta Neyar was just incredible I loved her whole speech about what it was like to live as an immortal and how her husband wasn't her weakness that he was her universe, that really did get me emotional. I also really liked seeing all the visions of the crows and learning more about Jesper's backstory.
2) 2x03 Like Calls To Like- I have one complaint about this episode and that is that I wish some of the bigger moments like genya beiing scarred and Baghra's finger being cut off had been spread across two episodes so it didn't seem so sudden, it just seemed like too many big moments crammed into one episode. But otherwise I really loved this episode, I loved the scenes with baghra and aleks, I loved the scene between Inej and Kaz where he tells her about his brother and helps her clean her wounds while they talk about finding your opponents weakness, I loved Kaz and Inej's fight scenes and Jesper and Wylan breaking into Pekka's house. It was a very action packed episode.
1)2x04 Every Monstrous Thing- This episode was hands down my favourite. It was one of those rare episodes where I liked the Alina and co side as much as the crow side. I loved seeing Kaz get revenge on Rollins, this speech Kaz gives about how he buried Albie and demands his brother's name in return for the location of Albie just gave me chills, like I think it was Freddy's best performance of the whole 2 seasons, it was amazing. But I also really loved Aleks' attack on the spinning wheel, it was action packed and full of tension and I loved the two darklina scenes, the one where he's speaking to her through the tether having lured her away to safety and he says he'll be back for her, and also when they meet for real and fight in the hall. This whole episode just had me on the edge of my seat so it gets number one spot.

Americans: Make a show based on Russian culture and present the persecuted, talented group of people as greedy, obnoxious and evil, while trying tell us that being biracial is the worst thing that can ever happen to a person who lives in the world divided by war.
Me, an Eastern European viewer: Wow, they really did that.

Things that I've seen Darkling stans NOT do: tagging LB or Archie Renaux in anti-malina/anti-Mal/pro-Darkling rants and demeaning them in said rants, then playing the victim when they're called out.
Things I've seen Darkling antis do: the above but they tag Ben Barnes.
Do y'all see the fucking problem?

Confession Time
Since, I will complete a whole month in this fandom, I thought I will make a confession.
So I have always been the silent stalker type of fan. I mostly read fanfictions. And Jonsa fanfictions. Because I was one. Yes, me. I was a Jonsa. Forgive me fandom for I have sinned.
I had only watched the show and its disastrous ending and Kit and Sophie had this chemistry so I shipped them. During the show, I liked Jonerys but the emotionless Daenerys of the show irked me and I was so disappointed because I was looking forward to Jonerys meeting. I remember being so fucking hyped that I literally jumped when Daenerys and Tyrion met and I was like yes, Queen, you are going home. Then I was like yes, Jon is going to meet Arya and that was blah... By the end of the show, every character was a caricature. But I still shipped Jonsa (Kit and Sophie).
For a while I just read fanfictions and then I used to stalk Reddit where Jonsa was a joke, which was a surprise to me. Then I came to tumblr, where you know in a certain part of the fandom, it is canon.
I have believed all those fuckall theories. Like for me Jonsa was canon. I liked Jonsa but I was a Jon Stan. But my Jon was supposed to be smart and ruthless (I had read some book quotes on Reddit), but the Jonsa Jon was an idiot and a prop.
The part which actually shifted my understanding of everything was that I was a Rhaegar and Lyanna fan. They were the IT couple for me because Jon is their son. The fanfictions I read had Jon completely hating his parents, and he never had any sort of anger for Ned Stark for lying to him. Jon was naming his daughter Catelyn. He refuses to ever be a Targaryen because they are evil incarnate (Red Flags, Red Flags which I ignored). The fact that one part of that side of the fandom criticized Lyanna and made fanart in which she literally had a horse face (horrible) and the other villified Rhaegar as a rapist and a murderer never sat well with me. Because I relate to that brooding Prince on another level. He is a guy who is surrounded by so much stress and emotional pain and he still can focus on the things that bring him joy and excel at them is personally inspiring for me.
Searching and searching I came across Rhaegar and Lyanna Blog, run by none other than, Lina. Then I read so much stuff and positive discussions happening that I was like, yay, finally, my people. (Still a Jonsa though).
I read every post of Rhaegar and Lyanna by Lina @aerea-targaryen whatever ID she was using and by @intheairwewilllookmonstrous and @imaginaryvane and @lorelei-4.
I loved an amazing post by @asongofstarkandtargaryen comparing Rhaegar and Jon.
I also came across the Original Outline where Jonrya was canon, and then I read some amazing posts by @vivacissimx, @valyrianwarg, @aleksandr-morozova, @duty-that-poxy-bitch (Needleheart) and it wasn't that hard for me to go back to Jonerys as well, @rainhadaenerys (your Jon || Dany post is so amazing), @fireismine (I love your takes), @asoiafdaenerysdaily (the book and show Dany comparisons are the best) @etherealdany (your patience of writing metas and your passion for Dany is fantastic.).
It was so fun shipping both Jonrya and Jonerys and being fine either way.
I read @jackoshadows, who made me understand Canon Jon better. @the-king-andthe-lionheart, whose takes on Arya made me fall in love with her.
There was a post by @lucyskywalker comparing Show and Book Jon that made me read the books. That is why I say this from experience if you are a Jon Stan, you cannot be a Jonsa. I fell in love with Dany. I loved Arya's arc. I have always loved Tyrion and the books just made it more so. Bran's magical story was something I found so intriguing.
I actually had been waiting for Jon Month since November, because I saw all these amazing posts celebrating canon Dany and I was like there should be one for Jon as well. Then there was an announcement and I was all IN. I actually created a tumblr ID in February since then I have interacted with so many of you, @ramblingsandposts, @confusedhummingbird, @bellenora, @ambitious-witch @jonsaflowers, @bicerose, @reignof-fyre and the others that I follow. I love your takes, metas and theories.
I have loved all the edits and fancasts for Jon during Jon Month and been in awe of the amazing creations for Arianne's Week and Theon's Month as well.
Just wanted to appreciate all of you for celebrating canon qualities of the Key Five. You are the one keeping this fandom alive and preventing canon from getting twisted to fanon.

Twisted Twins pt. 1
A/N: I want to give a big Thanks to @mizelophsun11 for helping me come up with this idea and the title.
Twins: Aleksander Morozova and Billy russo as twin sons of Baghra Morozova
Pairing: Aleksander Morozova x Amira Silina x Billy Russo
Catalina De La Rosa was a bad ass in her day, she got in the Mafia thanks to her friend Baghra Morozova who was the daughter of the grandfather at the time. She would follow her assignments without fail and always come back successful. In fact she was named "The Sun light" because of her Grisha power because when people saw her in among the group they'd always be worried on what she would do.
Time passed since then and Catalina grew not so found of this life as she was heading home from a meeting when she'd met him. Jorge Silina, an Inferni who had gone to the same school as her when they were youger and he had a crush on her. He approached her one day offering her a rose. "Aren't you afraid of me?" Catalina asked as he looked at her "Why would I be? You're as beautiful as the day I saw you in school." Jorge said as Catalina accepted the rose. Something started within her that she never knew she needed. Love, something the Mafia thought was not necessary.
She went out with him a few time and after three years of being together he asked her to marry him. She said yes but knew to protect her family she'd need to step down from the Mafia. Baghra had been the one to get her in so she had to go to Baghra to get out. As she went in one day she walked over to Baghra. "Can I speak with you?" Catalina asked as she nod walking to where they were alone. "What's up Lina?" Baghra asked using her nickname she'd given her when they'd first became friends. "I'm getting married, I want out." Catalina said as Baghra looked surprised. "You knew this was a committment but I understand where you're coming from." Baghra said as she had authority now with her father's untimely passing. "Very well, I'll approve your request under one condition." Baghra said as Catalina looked at her suspicous. "What would that be?" She asked
Baghra knew how powerful Shadow and Sun worked together, it was why she'd made sure Catalina had made it this far. "Your next descendant that is Sun Summoner, I want them to marry my son if I have one." Baghra said as Catalina was suspicous "And if you would have twins?" Catalina asked as Baghra looked at her "Then I suppose they would have to share." Baghra said bluntly to her. Catalina didn't think any of the females in her family would be Sun Summoner after her so she shook on it. "You have a deal." Catalina said as Baghra shook her hand. "You have the protection of the Mafia in your retirement, if anyone tries to bother your family they'll handle it before you can even call." Baghra promised and then the two friends went their separate ways.
-many years later-
When Amira was born, Catalina knew the moment she held her that the girl would have Sun but also tidemaker so she tried to hide it from the Mafia that her granddaughter would be the next female Sun Summoner. She gave her son his daughter back as she knew now that her promised took her granddaughter's future away.
Time passed and before most could say it Amira Silina was twenty-five years old. She was a day college student and working at a bar at night part time to make ends meet. Her grandmother would always offer her money but she refused saying she wanted to prove she could do it herself but always noticing that her grandmother kept a concerned face still she was an adult like most. Her co workers also worked part time but were also her college collegues as she smiled when she'd came in that night for work.
"Amira, on time as always and wearing your necklace tonight." Marie pointed out as Amira nods. "I love wearing it, it's a reminder of what I am." Amira said as she saw Marie and Nadia shared her enthusiasm for being Grisha wearing their own unique necklaces. "Let's get tonight over with. Hopefully nothing overly exciting will happen tonight." Amira said as she got herself ready for the customers about to come in.
When they were open and things were going on, the girls kept busy and did as they were told. It was a usual night for them until they walked in. The Morozova brothers, everyone in the area knew them because their mother Baghra Morozova was the Godmother of the area so they got about whatever they wanted. "Aleks, what ya want to drink?" Billy asked, he was the younger of the two but when Aleksander didn't answer, Billy looked at him. "Aleks?" Billy asked
Aleksander had felt it the moment he'd entered the place, the sun that made his shadows stir. He scanned the room ignoring his twin brother as he looked for awhile before he landed on the three bartenders. He noticed each was wearing a necklace, he figured they were Grisha as he recognized the one for Inferni and Tidemaker. It was when the last girl turned around did he see her strange necklace, it was the Sun but it had a blue gem in the middle. When he finally turned in his brother as he looked at him "Kvas, you know that." Aleksander said watching the girl work
Amira had almost let a glass slip but Marie had caught it, her inner sun reacted to shadows as she shivered a little. She'd never felt such dark but she didn't recall feeling anything off of other Grisha. "What is this feeling?" Amira said softly as she returned to work. Amira was up there taking orders when Billy walked up "Hey, you got a nice necklace there very unique necklace. Can I get a glass of burbon and a glass of kvas." Billy said
Amira realized he was looking at her when he was talking and she knew she couldn't ignore him with his family's reputation. "Sure, coming right up." Amira said as she went to get the drinks ready. She prepared the glasses and handed them over to him "Here you go." Amira said as he took them and smiled before he walked away. Marie walked over "Write it down on the Mafia list." Marie whispered
Aleksander was sitting in the booth they always sat at as Billy put his Kvas infront of him and drank his burbon. "You're on edge, what's with you?" Billy asked as Aleksander looked back to the bartenders looking at Amira as she smiled and did her job. He noticed the way she wore her clothes, she was covered up meaning innocent. "You remember what mother said about The sun getting out because of family?" Aleksander asked Billy as he looked at him. "You mean that deal Ma talks about? The next desendant of the Sun to be our girl?" Billy asked as Aleksander looked at him. "I think you just met her." Aleksander said as he picked up the glass of Kvas and drank it. Billy looked towards the bartenders as he smirked a bit "Well, this will be interesting if you're right." Billy said
While the brothers talked, Amira had no idea about any of it since her grandmother had decided not to say a word. Amira ended up working late hours so when it was the end of their shift and they were finishing out for the night. The owner gave them their tips but then made Amira come over. "Yeah, boss?" Amira asked as he handed her an envelope. "The Morozova brothers just left a few minutes ago they said to hand you this for how well you did tonight." The boss said as Amira took it and opened the envelope seeing the cash inside as she almost was shocked. "Oh, uh wow." Amira said "Thanks boss."
After that Amira left with Marie and Nadia, the three were not just college mates and co workers they lived together as roommates. "So what was in the envelope?" Marie asked as Amira had put it all away. "More than I deserved right now." Amira said to them. As the three talked and laughed a bit but they'd been working the last four days so tomorrow was their day off and the other workers were going to be going in.

Saw a booktuber's sab book vlog and there is yet again the -mal/lina is cute, I don't get darklina- and I'm wondering if I should drop a comment about why we like darklina lol.
The funniest bit was definitely the -i like the ship but HE SHOULD BE DEAD HOW DID HE COME BACK WAS IT LIKE THE HORCRUX IN HIM DIED KINDA SITUATION SOMEONE EXPLAIN, HE SHOULD HAVE REMAINED DEAD- about mals resurrection in book 3 lol. Tbh I don't understand that either, was there an explanation for that??
Also we just need more darklinas to become youtubers imo I haven't seen people spread the darkling agenda there (and by that I mean videos about why we ship/stan him) the way I have about other characters from other fandoms! Most of the Fandom sticks to tumblr/ao3/twitter ig sigh.
LOL
Yeah, I think "the horcrux in him died" is the best explanation for what happens. Still doesn't mean it wasn't contrived as hell ☠️
And at least with Harry, the horcrux got created in him when he was a baby. But with Mal, the horcrux was created generations ago when Ilya Morozova brought his muggle daughter back. So in order for this to work, there has to be an unbroken chain of Morozova's descendants, passing on this horcrux from first born to first born with none of them being killed before their natural lifetime for the past 400 years.
*sniffs*
Smells like bullshit to me.

She's Mean and She's Mine
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/3Dj9UEb

My biggest gripe with the ending is how, all of a sudden, Mal is related to the Morozovas and he’s a living amplifier. I can get behind the foreshadowing with the latter, but that he’s a descendant of Morozova? Where did that come from?
(Book Spoilers)
Yup that annoyed me too. Though funnily it was the opposite way round for me like I could kind of get behind him maybe being a descendant of Morozova, I could see Baghra's sister after being brought back having to change her identity and her marrying and having children and that created a line that eventually leads to M*l. I mean it is a hell of a coincidence that its M*l who is the descendant and really a stretch that he happens to know all the people involved or linked to Morozova. It also makes the relationships between darklina and M*lina really awkward because now the darkling and M*l are related and Alina has been involved with them both. But in a pinch I could accept it. However him being an amplifier made no sense to me at all. It is established within the lore that grisha can tell when someone is a living amplifier by just touching them, Alina could feel it when she touched Baghra and Aleks, in Demon in the Woods Annika figures out that Aleks is an amplifier by just taking his hand and Baghra warns Aleks not to let anyone touch him or they'll know. The part for me that makes M*l being an amplifier so unbelievable is that by the point it is discovered M*l has spent three books hanging around grisha, also he has spent his entire life with Alina. Even more relevant though is that he has been touched by grisha, whether that is a hand shake, or a hug or how he's kissed Alina and Zoya, I mean he has slept with Zoya and you are telling me that not one of these grisha realised that he was an amplifier, not one of them? It really makes no sense because someone should have sensed it. So to me it really does feel like LB just pulled this out of nowhere to make M*l relevant and important somehow, whether it made sense didn't seem to matter to her. Also I don't feel like there was much foreshadowing to it other than M*l being able to track the other amplifiers in a way no one else could. It wasn't a twist that I found particularly exciting or interesting it was just confusing to me. But then the entire ending had so many things that didn't make sense or that were badly written that it kind of seemed like the whole ending was pulled out of the air.
