Following the 1948 war, the state of Israel was founded on 78% of the territory of Palestine, considerably more land than the partition plan had proposed (52% of the territory was earmarked for the Jews under the plan, who represented 7% of the population at the time). About 418 villages were depopulated or destroyed during the war and 714,000 Palestinians lost their lands (Isaac et al., 2004). Arab ownership fell from 570,000 ha [hectares] in 1945 to 76, 800 ha in 1949/1950 (Lewis, 1996), a loss of 87% of the area. The expropriated land was among the most fertile and productive. Almost all Arab-owned citrus groves and banana plantations were lost.
Under various provisions that the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, promulgated beginning in 1948, vast quantities of land were expropriated. These included the Emergency Land Requisition Law which authorized expropriation «for the defense of the state, public security and the absorption of immigrants; a law enabling the minister of agriculture to take control of «waste» (uncultivated) land; the Absentees’ Property Law of 1950, which allowed the government to seize the land of both external and internal refugees. The latter were referred to as «present absentees» (Quigley, 2005: 107). In 1953 The Land Acquisition Law gave the government title over the lands acquired under the Absentees law of 1950. «It provided for compensation but most Arabs refused it, preferring to preserve their claim to the land (…) The value of the lands taken from the Palestinian Arabs was estimated at 100 million pounds. It included stone quarries, 10,000 acres of vineyards, 25,000 acres of citrus groves, 10,000 business establishments, 95% of what became Israel’s olive groves and 50,000 apartments.» The government expropriated 85% of the land of the Bedouin of the Negev desert (Quigley, 2005: 108-109). For example, in 1951-52, former Arab groves produced 1.25 million boxes of fruit, of which 400,000 were sent abroad. Arab fruit sent abroad provided 10% of Israel’s foreign exchange earnings from exports in 1951. In 1949 the olive produce from confiscated Arab groves was Israel’s third largest export, after citrus fruit and diamonds (Jiyiris, 1976).

extremely fun detail in the main novel since it’s told thru the kids perspective & raiu loves to brag abt sky’s strength bc she’s mentoring him so that makes him cool by association n coincidentally sky’s entrypoint in that novel is busting up a palace corner during a shadow chase and just !! we love a girl who shows off but by contrast all her scenes w/ reina or leah being abt the quiet sort of strength control that. is obv always implied but not as Cool 2 raiu so that entire angle is vry on the downlow for this novel and im dying

Penny stardewvalley makes me so sad because she's SO sensitive to, like, basically everything you tell her (telling her that you can't stand children while two children are nearby is a pretty lousy move but -1500 friendship?? being a jerk to other characters' faces typically loses you about 50 points, and if you choose the option labeled "creepy" and ask Leah for a kiss in her 2 heart event she physically hits you and kicks you out of her house but that's only -100 friendship…) and so if you want to befriend her it's a whole lot of lying and tiptoeing around her feelings (2 hearts: George was right but saying that makes her feel bad. 6 hearts: her food sucks but even if you try to be polite about it she feels like a failure; only a bald-faced lie pleases her. 8 hearts: saying you don't want to be tied down with a family loses you a little bit of friendship and she's only happy if you say you want kids) and I can't help but think she's a product of her environment. She lives in a trailer with only her mother, who gets drunk every night and has something of a temper. Penny's like a skittish rescue animal who won’t even come out from hiding under something unless you leave her lots of treats

Temper
Arsenal Women x Teen!Reader
Summary: You have a short fuse
Tumblr media
It's not that you were an aggressive person.
Off the pitch, you were sweet and kind and almost always huddled in a group with Vic and Lessi mucking about.
You just had a bit of a temper, especially when it came to football.
In all honesty, you blamed your dad. You had spent countless evenings sat next to him on the sofa as he screamed and yelled at the tv, watching matches. It seemed only right to emulate him.
Your fuse was short and you snapped easily on the pitch.
"Not even a yellow?!" You demanded, gesturing wildly from your spot on the ground," That was deliberate! She didn't even get the fucking ball!"
"Watch it!" The ref snapped back," Or I'll give you a yellow!"
If your ankle wasn't throbbing, you would have surged to your feet to argue you your case.
"It's not worth it," Steph muttered as she helped you up.
"Not worth it?" You scoffed," Not worth it?! Steph, that was clearly a yellow!" You don't know when you pivoted from arguing your case to shouting at Steph but the frustration bubbled over and soon Lia had to grab you by the hand and pull you away.
"Stop it!" She said sternly, not quite yelling but enough to know there would be consequences if you didn't. "Go back to position and play."
"It was worth a yellow!"
"Yes, maybe it was but it's done now and we need as many legs on the pitch as possible right now. Don't get another yellow."
You stormed off with a huff. You rivalled Katie in the amount of yellows you got (though most of them came from arguing back to the refs rather than aggressive play style) which was kind of impressive seeing as you only joined the team last year.
Mini McCabe had been your nickname for almost a year now and it was something you took in your stride. You are who you are and all that. You couldn't help it if you got a bit...forceful when you were arguing your point.
"What?" You demanded in the next match," You've got to be joking! I didn't do anything! Are you crazy?!"
Your second yellow card in the game was like being hit with a truck. The first hadn't even you being angry. You made a sloppy tackle trying to get the ball off Toone so you took the card even though Toone was clearly milking her 'injury' - though you made sure she knew what it meant when you actually aggressively tackled her. Thankfully, the ref hadn't quite seen that one.
But this yellow card came out of nowhere.
Lia and Caitlin were both sprawled out on the ground, having crashed into each other as two of the United girls squashed the pair between them. You couldn't quite see what had happened in the tangle of legs but you know it was some foul play and you made that known to the ref.
You weren't the only one though because Katie was yelling too.
"Do you need glasses?!" You had demanded," Are you competent at your job?! There's clearly yellow cards that need to be handed out."
"You're right," He had replied and finally you felt vindicated only for him to flash the yellow at Katie and then you.
It was Katie's first of the match but your second.
Her hand clamped around your arm quickly when it looked like you were about to get physically aggressive (you weren't but it did cross your mind to get all up in the ref's face).
"I didn't do anything!" You yelled anyway.
"Dissent," Was all he answered, indicating with his head to get off the pitch.
"Come on," Katie said although she looked equally as angry as you.
You stormed off down the tunnel, your feet slamming into the ground.
"I don't want to talk about it!" You snapped at Leah as soon as she appeared behind you.
"Too bad," She said and Kim (who had been benched today) also appeared," We're talking about it."
"I didn't do anything!" You yelled," Just because he's a fucking-"
"Hey!" Kim wasn't really one to raise her voice so you shrunk down into yourself when she did. "I understand you're frustrated but there's no need to insult him again."
"Frustrated? Frustrated?! I'm fucking fuming! That wasn't worth another yellow! Lia and Caitlin could have been seriously hurt!"
"You're sixteen," Leah replied," It's not your job to defend them."
"Well no one else was fucking doing it!" You clenched your hands into fists and you felt a bit like a cartoon, like smoke was about to come out of your ears. "Maybe if the rest of the team actually did something then I wouldn't have to-"
"Go and shower," Kim ordered," Take the time to cool off. We'll discuss this later."
When Kim didn't speak to you after the match ended, you thought you were home free.
It was only when she, Leah and Jen cornered you in the break room that you realised why it had taken so long.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me!" You said in disbelief," A sticker chart? What am I, a fucking child?"
"You're acting like one," Jen replied.
You glared at her, crossing your arms over your chest. "I'm not using that!"
"You don't have a choice," Kim said," For every match where you don't go off the rails, cause a fight or get a yellow card, you get a sticker."
"I don't need stickers," You said bluntly," I'm sixteen!"
"What you need," Leah said firmly," Is an attitude adjustment. You want to keep playing? Keep getting minutes on that pitch? You'll deal with your sticker chart."
You thought about arguing with them, about blowing up and yelling but you just knew that would get you treated with more kid's gloves than right now.
"Sticker charts get a reward at the end," You bit out, scrunching your hands up into firsts to keep from yelling," What do I get?"
Leah and Jen exchanged a look. It was clear that they hadn't thought that far ahead.
"Er..."
"What do you want?" Kim asked.
You shrugged. "Free food. As unhealthy and greasy as I want."
Kim looked physically in pain when she agreed with you, shaking your hand.
"Hey!" Jen said as you moved to leave," Take your chart with you!"
Katie thought it was hilarious, teasing you relentless when you came back to the locker room with your new chart but shut up pretty quickly when you muttered that they might put her on a sticker chart too if she wasn't careful.
Somehow, she ended up being your greatest ally in keeping your temper on the pitch. She was always there to redirect you away from the ref before yelling at them herself when you were safely standing by people like Steph or Viv who definitely wouldn't let you wander closer.
Your sticker chart filled pretty quickly when Leah and Jen threw their own hats into the ring and promised to buy you food too if you completed it.
You fell to the ground with a crash, swearing under your breath as you grabbed at your knee. It wasn't seriously injured (thank god) but it was a little scraped up.
You looked up to throw a glare at the back of Zelem's head as she waltzed off. It was clearly an unfair tackle. She slid in on you after you had kicked the ball up to Vic already.
"Hey," Lessi said as she jogged over," You okay?"
"No," You said, gritting your teeth," Did the ref at least see it?"
You knew your answer the moment Alessia hesitated to reply. You got to your feet and brushed off your knee. It bled a little but it was mostly just a graze.
You could see the ref talking to Zelem briefly before letting her go on her way. Your blood boiled and, with no Katie on the pitch to get on the ref about his bad call, you felt a rush of anger through your system.
You glanced around quickly, just to check who was paying attention to you before you moved towards the ref. Your hands clenched into fists and you anger bubbled in your throat.
You walked right past him on your way back to your position, letting out a deep, shuddering breath as you did so.
You refused to look over at the bench where Kim, Jen and Leah were sitting. You knew they were going to be wearing those god awful smug smirks that they always did when you ignored the anger stirring inside of you and turned away.
You sighed as you waited for the throw in, stretching out your legs and pulling your socks up to cover your knee.
You just needed to get through this match.
Just this match without a yellow card and your sticker chart would be complete and you would finally be able to drain Kim, Leah and Jen's bank accounts for all they were worth.

Russo: derby, concussion, care
Derby Day (Alessia Russo x Reader)
[WOSO Masterlist]
“But it’s the North London Derby!”
Alessia huffs and sinks lower on the couch.
“A little blood never hurt anybody.”
Beth doesn’t make eye contact.
“You don’t get it. You’re not a footballer.”
Leah opens her mouth but quickly shuts it when she sees the look on your face.
The three of them are in various shapes, one with an egg on her forehead, another with two icepacks strapped to both ribs, the last with a makeshift ankle brace constructed out of the finest frozen peas from your freezer.
“Honestly, if someone came in here right now they’d think I abused you all!”
Alessia turns her pleading eyes towards Viv but gets no help from the Dutch woman. “She did warn you guys.”
You’re pacing back and forth in front of the three of them. You’ve all been in this position since Viv tried to drop Alessia off at home nearly an hour ago. You took one look at the broken carpool and all but ordered the four gunners into your house.
A last minute work mishap made you miss out on the derby day, but that didn’t stop you from dropping Alessia off at the Emirates before the game. Beth and Leah met the two of you with grins, all but waving off your words of caution before sweeping your girlfriend away.
“I highly recall telling you to take care of yourself, Alessia, did I not? And what was it that you said back to me?”
Your girlfriend mumbles sweet nothings into her sweatshirt, nearly disappearing into the massive thing. You’re sure if she had it her way she’d melt right into the couch.
“Louder! I can’t hear you.”
Your attention’s quickly taken away when you hear Leah’s not-so discrete snickering. She pales when she makes eye contact.
“Unless the next words out of your mouth is apologizing for not keeping my girlfriend safe like you promised, you shut that mouth, Leah Cathrine.”
Beth snorts before realizing her mistake.
Your nose flares angrily. “And what do you have to say for yourself? Getting sent off for something as stupid as blocking the keeper’s kick? Honestly, Viv must have the patience of a saint, putting up with you.”
The brunette’s sitting on the other side of the room, watching everything with thinly concealed amusement. A small tweak had her watching the game from the stands. Of course there’s nothing more fun that playing in a North London Derby, but with the high fouls and flying boots that unfolded at the stadium today, Viv would be lying if she said she wasn’t glad to be a spectator. Especially if being sidelined saved her a lecture from you.
There’s another hot reprimand on the tip of your tongue when you feel a gentle tug on your sleeve.
“Babe?”
Alessia’s got the widest eyes, frown set upon her lips as she tries to appeal to your soft side. You’re still mad, but you try to lower your temper at the clear discomfort written across her face.
“My head really hurts. Can I go to bed?”
When Alessia got hurt it took everything in your power not to drive straight to the stadium. Viv had texted you a quick update when Alessia was being checked out, reassuring you that it looked worse than it actually was.
You couldn’t stop yourself from replaying the video over and over, heart breaking every time you watched her head bounce off the ground. But you chose to believe your friend, waiting with nerves while you awaited your girlfriend’s return.
Though all that worry flew right out the door when you caught sight of the other two injured girls.
“Well I think that’s our cue!” Beth takes her chance to leap forward, hands pulling at her vice captain to follow her. “Goodnight, Russo, Mrs. Russo--”
Beth chokes on her words when you grab ahold of her collar, stopping her before she can take another step towards the door.
“Now where do the two of you think you’re going?”
The two blondes exchange nervous looks.
Leah clears her throat. “Home?”
She swallows hard at the hollow laugh you let out.
“Nice try. Captain Nothing’s-Wrong and her sidekick,” you ignore the dirty look Beth gives you at her assignment, “congratulations, thanks to your clear inability to follow the simplest of instructions, the two of you have won yourselves the Alessia Russo night watch shift.”
And with that, you take a seat next to Viv, turning on the TV to something random while you ignore the three cries of protest.

“then shut up and kiss me already.”
- Paul Lahote
“then shut up and kiss me already.” changed this line a bit
pronouns: they/them, gender neutral
Tumblr media
It'd been a devastating and hectic month for the Clearwater household. From the unexpected passing of your father to your siblings suddenly shifting, it seemed as if you couldn't catch a break. You had to pause your life in California to return to Washington out of grief and concern for your family, having to put in a notice at your job and assure friends and colleagues you were alright.
But you most certainly weren't.
Even with Leah being a year older than you, responsibility always seemed to fall on your shoulders and thus you were left to pick up the pieces. From ensuring Sam was willing to keep an eye on your siblings to planning the funeral with your mother, your time back in La Push felt more like work than anything else.
Which was why, you found yourself at the beach, feet covered by cool sand and wind gently caressing your skin. The beach had been the best part of living in La Push. The sound of the waves always helped back in high school, back when life felt equally as chaotic. You'd been there to witness Leah's breakdown when Sam abruptly left her for your cousin and watched Seth's older friends slowly distance themselves to join Sam's pack.
"You doin' okay?" A voice called out and you looked over your shoulder, peering up at Paul Lahote. You'd seen him around once or twice, though only properly met him at Sam's place a week prior. Since then, most of Sam's pack seemed to keep an eye on you. You chalked it up to Sam expressing concern over your tired state.
"As well as can be given everything." You responded and his face dropped, a grim frown appearing on his face. It was surprising to see him so... hurt and concerned. Leah had complained plenty of times about him over the phone, mentioning his overconfident and short-tempered behavior often.
"If you..." He trailed off, voice full of uncertainty. "If you need anything, I'm here. I'll get you whatever you want, whatever you need."
"That's really sweet of you, Paul." His eyes shot up to meet yours, smile tugging at his lips at your words. Your brows furrowed and you reached out to pat the sand beside you. Without a second of hesitation, Paul took the offer and sat down. His keen eyes remained on you and your face, constantly studying and analyzing. You pressed your lips together and his gaze jumped down to them, his expression suddenly becoming shy.
Oh, Christ...
"Paul..."
"Yeah?"
"Did you imprint on me?" You asked softly, watching his features contort into guilt. He dipped his head and sighed heavily, silently nodding and confirming your suspicions. You turned your attention back out to the waves and hummed quietly. The way your skin warmed and your stomach fluttered annoyed you, but you couldn't deny the relief of knowing the universe had given you a soulmate, someone who you'd spend the rest of your life with.
"I know it's not a good time but we can't control it. I was- I wanted to wait until after the funeral 'cause I knew you've been busy these past few weeks but just looking at you makes my chest hurt. I know we just met and you're Emily's cousin but I can't stand seeing you like this. I-I can keep my distance, if you want. I'll wait days, weeks, months until you want to talk-"
“Shut up and kiss me already, Paul."

Are you being Serious? Katie McCabe
Tumblr media
"Are you excited for your first day, love?" Katie asked as you headed into the Arsenal Training Centre.
Today was your first day training with Arsenal. Last week, you had visited the Colony to sign your contract and complete all your media duties. You had signed to Arsenal from Bayern Munich; after spending 3 years in Germany, you had decided that it was best for your career to return back to the WSL.
Not only did you now get to play with your sister for both club and country, you were finally able to play alongside your girlfriend. Katie and you had been together for just over a year. Her playing in England and you in Germany was really difficult, you didn't get to see each other all that often, but the pair of you made it work. And now you couldn't be happier to play with her.
"Yeah, for the most part. But I am a bit nervous." A slight stutter evident in your voice.
""Hey. Look at me." Katie tugged at your hand to stop the pair of you walking along, and now your body was facing hers.
She wrapped herself around your taller form; her arms going around your waist as her head rested on your chest and your arms resting gently over her shoulders.
""You've got absolutely nothing to be nervous about. Babe, you're an incredible player, I mean your literally one of the best midfielders in the world. Despite the fact that you're worse than me on the pitch, you're like the nicest person ever."
That was true. On the pitch, you're known for your aggression and your confidence. But off the pitch, everyone tends to describe you as a teddy bear, you're quite shy and quiet off the pitch and you hate confrontation.
"You know, I love this version of Katie. All soft and sweet." You slightly laughed as you glanced down to see Katie's now, screwed up face.
"Only for you, my girl." Katie said as she quickly pecked your lips before dragging you along to the changing rooms.
Turns out, all of the other players were already out on the fields by the time you and Katie had gotten there and were ready.
So when you walked onto the field, you were immediately thrown in hugs, greetings and introductions. Obviously, you knew some of the players from England or from previously playing them.
After meeting most of the team, you finally got to your sister.
"I missed you." Leah told you as she wrapped you up in a tight embrace, her head tucking into your neck as you quickly pecked her temple.
"I missed you too."
What you hadn't noticed, was Katie sending daggers to the sight of you and Leah being so close. You weren't that close or touchy with any of the others, so why were you like that with Leah.
Throughout training, Katie's mood only worsened. You and Leah had paired up with each other, laughing at joking every couple of minutes at something the other had said. To say jelousy was getting the better of her would be an understatement. And it was clearly affecting her play AND her temper: her tackles rash and harsh, she could barely hold the ball and to top it off - Jonas was laying into her about her often mistakes.
You had checked in on her a few times, but you were either shrugged off or just simply ignored. Many of your other teammates had faced this reaction as well, it was just less intense than how she reacted to you. You couldn't understand.
Once training had finished, the team began to flood into the changing rooms and the showers. Katie having stormed off way before the rest of the team. So when you strolled in, with your sister next to you, you were met with an angry Katie sat at her cubby.
Without a doubt in your mind, you headed towards Katie before placing yourself down next to her. Your hand jumping straight to Katie's thigh.
"What's up with you, grumpy?" You jokingly questioned her, her tensed face not moving a muscle.
"Nothing!" She snapped back at you, her gaze never looking anywhere other than the floor.
"C'mon Katie, you've been off since we got here."
"Why don't you go and let the rest of the team jump all over you?"
"Excuse me?"
"Don't play dumb, Y/N. Quite acting like you and Leah haven't been all over each other." Katie's voice loud and harsh, attracting the attention of your now shared teammates, including your sister.
"Are you being serious?" Slowly, tears began to drop from your eyes. You were shocked at Katie, not only at her accusation but also at the way she was digging into you in front of your teammates on your first day.
"For your information, she's my sister!" Your voice, now just as harsh, startled Katie.
"Y/N? I -"
And with that, you stormed out of the room, heading back towards the direction of the training pitches.
Katie was stood in the changing room, now receiving disapointing and angered looks from her teammates. Her head dropped in guilt and shame as to what she had just accused you of.
"What is your problem?" Leah shouted, giving Katie a hard shove in her chest.
"I'm sorry Leah. I really didn't know." This seemed to only make Leah angrier, giving Katie another harsh shove. Alessia and Caitlin now stood inbetween the pain, preventing Leah from getting to Katie.
"I don't care if you knew or not. You've hurt her!"
"You did just accuse her of cheating in front of everyone." Alessia's voice softer than Leah's.
"On her first day." Caitlin added.
Katie didn't even reply to her teammates, she simply ran out of the room before anyone could stop her. She began her search for you, opening every door she passed before slamming it in fustration when you weren't in there.
It wasn't until she went into the gym, that she calmed slightly. Out of the window: she could see your figure sat on the floor, slumped defeatedly with your head between your knees.
She slowly made her way across the field, not wanting to startle you before carefully placing herself beside you.
"I'm sorry, love." Katie's voice soft, barely going over a whisper. Her hand reaching out to grab yours.
"I don't want to talk to you." You snapped as you pulled your hand away.
"I know what I did - " She didn't even get to finish her sentence before you cut her off.
"Do you? Really? Do you know how it feels to be accused of cheating in front of a whole team by the person you trust and love most in this world? Cause I can't remember ever doing anything even similar to that, Katie!"
"I am really sorry. I don't know what to say. Sweetheart, I love you so much and I let my mind go away with something that would never happen. I was angry and may slightly have been a bit jealous. I know that you would never cheat on me. You mean so much to me and I get so scared that i'm gonna lose you."
"You're an idiot, McCabe." Tears were still running down your face, but you still let out a tiny chuckle.
"I know I am." She reached out for your hand again, letting out a sigh of relief when you didn't pull away. Her head going to rest on your shoulder as yours rested on her head.
"I love you."
"I love you, too."
"Could I maybe get a warning next time that you're a Williamson."

i hope he's home for you (even though i had to lose you)
| leah williamson x reader
~~~
“Leah, are you kidding me?”
You couldn’t believe this. You never thought you’d be put in a position where you’d have to fight for your girlfriend’s affection yet here you were, doing exactly that.
You only got a shrug in response, the blonde shuffling on the couch, trying to get more comfy as she continued texting on her phone.
“I’m going for a little over a month and you’re already replacing me?” The incredulous look on your face didn’t do your emotions justice, the thought of the blonde not cherishing your last few days together absolutely shocking you.
“It’s nothing serious, I promise. Plus, he’s cute, outgoing, and really friendly…it’s going to be a good time,” she replied, not bothering to look up from her phone.
The nonchalant retort didn’t have the comforting effect that the blonde had hoped, actions not lining up with words, only managing to irritate you further.
Eyebrows furrowing, you got up from your place at your kitchen island, making your way to stand near her. “I hope you do realize that these are our last couple days together before I literally fly across the world for the tournament for a whole month and then some?”
Just barely getting a nod in reply, you huffed, face twisting in annoyance.
You continued, hoping the midfielder would rethink her decision. “You’re gonna miss me you know? Especially when he can’t cook any of your favourite foods. And when our usual Sunday dates don’t happen, you’re going to feel it.”
“It won’t be that bad…he’ll be good company while you’re gone…”
You threw your hands up in exasperation, not believing that these were the words coming out of Leah’s mouth. The same Leah that had practically moved into your apartment after you had made things official. The same Leah that would constantly plan date nights for the two of you, wanting to spend as much time together as possible during the season. The same Leah that would complain every morning when you’d leave your shared bed to only start the coffee pot for the both of you. The same Leah that was now treating you like a spare choice, too caught up in the novelty of the new to even bother to remember the good times you two shared thus far.
Silence hung in the air, disbelief making you momentarily mute, the other girl too caught up in texting that verbal communication was a hindrance.
It was only when Leah spoke again that you snapped out of your bewilderment.
“Actually, I think I’m going to go out today with him, I’ve just texted Beth and she’s free too…”
You couldn’t believe it. You really couldn’t. This was actually happening. Throwing your head back, you took in a deep breath, one that Leah could hear even from her seat a handful of feet away.
“So what? You’re going to make time for him but not for me? That’s how important I am to you? I leave soon Leah!”
“Oh come on, you’re acting like I’ve gotten a new boyfriend or something!” It was Leah’s turn to be annoyed, the blonde turning towards you as she got up, mild amusement littering her face.
“You practically have!” You whined back, shoulders dropping, foot gently stomping petulantly.
“Babe, Cheeto won’t be replacing you, he’s just going to keep me company while you’re gone.” Leah was fully smiling now, hands on her hips as she observed your little temper tantrum, it amusing her more than she’d ever let on.
You raised your eyebrows at the skipper, not pleased with her reply.
“He’ll be here when I’m back…he’s not gonna go away.” You were aware that you sounded absolutely childish right now but the thought of him being here and getting all of Leah’s attention while you were oceans away didn’t seem fair to you.
“Love, trust me, you’ll like him, he’s full of love.” The fond smile Leah expressed as she spoke the words set an uneasy feeling in your stomach.
“You realize he probably won’t like exercising right? He’ll be more trouble than peace? And what kind of name is ‘Cheeto’? It just sounds stupid.”
Leah couldn’t help but laugh at your last comment, the immatureness of it finally breaking her.
“It’s not like I can move much anyways? And he’ll keep things interesting. Plus, I think the name’s fitting, he does look like a ‘Cheeto’.”
With the blonde recovering from her ACL, you knew she was right. Another presence around would help. Still, it didn’t mean you had to like it.
Rolling your eyes, well aware that you had no retort, you turned away from the Englishwoman and hoped that your body language spoke your aversion.
You heard a gentle laugh behind you before the patter of Leah’s footsteps filled your ears, her hand coming to rest on your waist and turning you to face her quickly after.
Bringing both of her hands to intertwine with yours, the blonde waited for you to meet her eyes before speaking.
“Listen…I’m not replacing you. Especially not with Cheeto. Yes he’s a great puppy but he’s no you, okay? Also you love dogs, especially corgis. You’ll love him, I promise.”
Finally giving up your act, you let yourself be pulled into Leah, letting go of her hands in favour of wrapping them around her while she did the same.
“I hope he treats you better than I ever could,” you mumbled into her neck, a teasing smile present on your face as you cuddled further into her warmth.
Leah’s laugh rang melodically throughout the apartment, her arms wrapping tighter around you. “Oh shut it you.”
Grinning, you knew you wouldn’t mind having Cheeto around, glad that Leah had something to fill her heart while you were gone, even if you weren’t the one she was choosing.
“You deserve the world times two and I hope Cheeto and I can give that to you…”
Feeling Leah’s pull you impossibly closer at your whispered words, you sighed in comfort, contentness spreading through your body.
Sunsets and footballers (Part 30)
Lucy Bronze x Reader (28) & Alexia Putellas x Character (4)
Masterlist (other parts here)
It was MD-1 for Barca and they were notorious for training hard on those days. Long days.
Lucy arrived alone, feeling almost naked without her phone, but she was also a little relieved to not have it, so she wouldn’t be seeing anymore photos of YFN and Leah online. After she’d shattered her iPad, Alexia had helped her find one of the medical staff who were still onsite to remove any shards of glass and wrap her hand. It wasn’t ideal, and she was angry with herself for losing her temper, but Alexia had helped her calm down and convince her that she needed to keep that space, out of respect for her girlfriend. It was media, after all, who were notorious for starting drama where there was none. Lucy knew better. She knew where Leah and Jordan’s hearts were, and if she put aside her insecurities, she knew where YFN’s was also. With Lucy. Lucy just hoped she hadn’t scared her away.
“Lucia! There you are!” One of the security guards rushed over as she arrived. “Your phone.. one of the fans found it.”
Lucy felt a sense of relief. Her need for YFN to be able to contact her trumped her jealousy of seeing photos of her stunning Australian with Leah. “Do you have it?”
“No.. they said they will bring it to the game tomorrow for you. I’ll find them and bring you to them tomorrow.”
Great. Another full day without it. “Thanks for letting me know.. I’ll look out for you tomorrow.”
Lucy walked onto the field and over to their exercise room, giving the camera a small acknowledgement that was a lot less than her usual grin. She just couldn’t pretend she was happy today when she wasn’t. The aching inside her, the unresolved discussions they had yet to have. Without her phone, she couldn’t even look up photos of the game YFN was at today, hoping she’d see her in the background of Jordan’s game. She dropped her boots outside and walked into the training room, the last to arrive. Ona was immediately on her.
“Lucia! Your hand!” She almost shouted, worried as she took Lucy’s hand. Lucy pulled it away a little too harshly.
“It’s fine.”
Alexia caught her eye and gave her a look. Lucy must have given a terrible response because Alexia came over then before Ona could try to talk to Lucy further.
“We did too much boxing last night.” Was all she said, as she stood between the two and crossed her arms, looking at Jonatan. That was the end of that. Ona still seemed slightly worried for Lucy and her mood. She rarely took things to heart, and always felt what other people felt deeply. A true empath.
The players were in groups or pairs most of the day, Alexia ensuring she kept Lucy close. They were rough with each other all day, not noticing the other players giving them wide berths and worried looks from afar.
“Okay, Lucia, enough.” Alexia said as they collapsed onto the grass, the soccer ball landing somewhere nearby.
They took their time to get their breath back, and Alexia was the first to sit up.
“What do you need, Lucia?” Alexia asked. She was asking as a Captain, because she didn’t really understand her needs.
Lucy was still on her back, staring up at the clouds. The sun was getting low, and she wanted to see the sunset. “I need your phone.”
She paused before she responded. “Okay.”
As easy as that? Lucy sat up and watched as Alexia collected her phone from the sidelines and came back over to sit on the grass near Lucy. Lucy took the phone gratefully, but perhaps also a little too eagerly as she looked for photos of the Aston Villa game. It had already ended, and Chelsea had completed dominated them, but she wasn’t looking at that. She was looking for her girlfriend who she found in several photos on the sidelines.
There she was, shivering in the rain with her purple beanie on as she smiled from the sidelines, those little dimples excited to see Jordan play. She was in the perfect spot to be caught in several photos and videos, talking to her work mates, talking to players, taking some photos of the players herself. Lucy watched one video several times where she raised the camera up to her eye, paused, clicked the perfect shot and then lowered the camera to look proudly at her work, exposing her pink nose that Lucy just knew was freezing cold. She saw her talking to Millie and Erin Cuthbert from Chelsea, and then with her arms wrapped around Jordan as they caught up after the match. She looked so happy, and Lucy’s heart missed that. It longed for her. Even more so when she realised that she was wearing Lucy’s hoodie. That was enough proof for her that she hadn’t scared her away just yet. Still, the need to have a proper conversation with her Australian weighed on her heavily.
She was staring at one photo in particular of her and Jordan cuddled together, warming each other in the rain when Alexia spoke.
“She’s pretty.”
Lucy gave a small acknowledgement at that, still staring and taking in all of her. Butterflies appeared in her stomach like she was a teenager in high school with a crush.
“You don’t want to call her?”
Lucy sighed and looked up then. “I don’t know her number. I smashed my iPad. My MacBook is at home..”
“You can buy a new phone? I can give you leave early..” Not quite the right English wording, but she was trying.
“Security says a fan found my phone and they’ll give it to me tomorrow at the game.” She had thought about buying a new phone, she really didn’t care about the money, however she though it would be better to wait until game day tomorrow rather than waiting for her phone company to activate a new sim.
Alexia nodded, and Lucy gave her phone back.
“Alexia… thank you. For today, and yesterday, and for everything. Just… thank you. I appreciate it.”
“That’s okay, Lucia Roberta,” she said and cheekily nudged her shoulder with her own. This was the real Alexia. “We stick together, si?”
“We do.. so enough about me. Why do you seem even more grumpy today than you were yesterday?”
Alexia was in her vulnerable, non-Captain state, but still paused to think about how open she would be with the right back. Apparently she needed to vent to someone, and Lucy had chosen the right moment. “I… dream about her.”
“Bad dream?”
“No.. good dream. But then it’s a…bad dream.”
“Ah.” Lucy understood her hesitation now. Her best guess? A sex dream which potentially ended with her leaving for months on end. Lucy usually teased people, it was her thing, but she knew it was the wrong time, especially when Alexia finally seemed to be opening up to her after knowing her for a few years. “And going to the bar tonight would be a bad idea..”
Alexia nodded as if she’d already had the same thought. No point stirring that beehive before the game. “Today… was good.” She looked at Lucy; thoughtful hazel eyes meeting empathetic green ones.
“I needed today.” Lucy agreed.
When Lucy arrived home, her attention first went to greeting Narla, followed closely by her opening up her MacBook to multiple messages, emails, notifications. She found the one she wanted; a message from YFN that morning. She must have sent it just after Lucy had closed her laptop.
YFN: I’m sorry for taking so long.. I’m really not used to this, Luce. I can’t stop thinking about you. Can we talk?
Her heart skipped a few beats. She couldn’t stop thinking about her. Was that why she wore her hoodie? And she was sorry, after seeing all of those photos?! She took a deep breath to control herself. She couldn’t start a conversation over text, she didn’t want to risk any miscommunication. Lucy wanted to do everything right by her little Australian from now on.
Lucy: Sorry, little one. Just got home from training. Lost my phone yesterday.
YFN replied almost immediately and she wondered where she was and what she was doing.
YFN: How are you texting me..?
Lucy: MacBook.
YFN: I was starting to worry.. can we talk?
She was worrying? Lucy guaranteed YFN hadn’t been as worried as she had been all day. The past few days. Okay.. since she’d last seen YFN. She worded her next text carefully.
Lucy: We need to talk, but not over text. I’m not a good texter. Security said a fan found my phone so I’ll get it tomorrow at the game and call you after it, okay?
There was a pause for a minute or so before she replied.
YFN: Okay Luce.
Okay! Good. She wanted to talk. Lucy worked out the time.. her game started at 3pm London time, it would finish at 5pm, and she could escape early by 5:30pm if she asked Alexia.
Lucy: I’ll call you about five-thirty your time. Will you be free?
Please be free.
YFN: Okay, I’ll be driving to Crawley then.
Crawley that late? She did the math in her head. She’d be in Crawley very late at night. She was worried.
Lucy: You’ll be staying in the London apartment overnight, I hope?
Another pause.
YFN: Is that still okay?
She was worried Lucy wouldn’t be okay with it? Her heart sank a little as she thought about YFN feeling like she shouldn’t use the keychain she’d given her. She would never regret that.
Lucy: I’d be upset if you didn’t. I meant it when I gave you that keychain.
YFN: I love it, Luce. How’s your hand?
Lucy let out a breath. Okay, she’s going to stay in London. She’ll be safe and have somewhere to sleep. Perfect. And worrying about her hand meant she’d also been following Lucy’s day online, but she didn’t want to stress her with the real story just yet.
Lucy: It’s okay. Stupid accident. I’ll tell you about it tomorrow, okay?
YFN: Yes, please. Have a good game tomorrow, Luce.
Lucy would have given anything for her to be at that game tomorrow, or vice versa.
Match day. Lucy arrived early, again finding an excuse to not go with Ona. She knew she’d have to explain eventually, but that would be for later, when YFN was in Spain perhaps. She dropped her things off in the changing room, surprised she wasn’t the first there, and wandered until she found the security guard from yesterday. Disappointingly, he hadn’t seen the fan yet.. they hadn’t arrived. He had their phone number and texted them and they said they’d meet after the game, asking that they get to meet Lucy as repayment for finding her phone. With gritted teeth, she agreed. She did love her fans... the good ones… but she didn’t like being forced into situations like the one she was currently in.
Frustrated about her phone, she decided to take it out on the pitch rather than bottle it up. To be fair, she didn’t see how she could have stopped herself if she wanted to. She just felt so… angry. Annoyed. Needy. This unresolved matter putting more and more strain on this new relationship she had. One that, until she had left for Spain, had been absolutely perfect in every way.
The opposition eventually worked out not to pass down through right back as Lucy was being so fucking aggressive, though just before this, she’d managed to pass a perfect little lob assist to Salma for a goal. It was the most relaxed move she’d made all game. Most of her just wanted to launch the ball towards goal as hard as she could and break the fucking net.
Unfortunately for Sevilla, they also couldn’t go through the midfield either, because Alexia was on a mission. She’d gotten away with so many trips and late tackles that even Lucy was surprised.
Half time was a much needed break, and both Alexia and Lucy were pulled aside, away from the team. Jonatan didn’t ask what the problem was, his only concern was that they didn’t get red cards. Alexia and Lucy looked at each other as if they each thought each other was the bigger issue. Jonatan rolled his eyes at that, giving up his attempt to talk down the two most stubborn and independent women in the team.
After half time it took three minutes for Lucy to get her yellow card. The player marking her had been trying to shove back all game and Lucy was sick of the disrespect and hip and shouldered her over the boundary line for the ball. Unfortunately, she took the ball with her and Lucy knew she was lucky to get a yellow. Two minutes after that, and perhaps a little inspired by Lucy, Alexia received a yellow for a very late tackle of Sevilla’s best player in the midfield. Lucy heard her yelling at the girl to “Get up!” and couldn’t help but chuckle. It was so unlike Alexia.
The game ended in domination 7-0 to Barca, though Lucy watched the final whistle blow from the bench as she’d been subbed off not too long after her yellow. She hated being subbed off or not playing but in this instance, she understood.
After the game, she immediately found the security guard again and he led her to the boundary where the fans with her phone were apparently sitting. She had to step on an esky to reach them, however. The security guard pointed at three girls then, and Lucy froze as she stared at the ‘fans’ directly in front of her.
Her body locked with her jaw, as she stopped her immediate reaction, which would have been to drag her over the fence.
“Hey Lucy.” Kristie smiled brightly, as if it were their first-time meeting.
Lucy didn’t reply. She just stared at the woman who seemed early to mid 20s.
Kristie blushed. “I… I have your phone.”
So it was her she saw in the crowd the other day. Why the fuck was she in Spain? And wearing her Barca Bronze jersey? She wanted to rip it away from her. Lucy opened her mouth to speak but was cut off as Kristie leaned closer to her.
“Lucy.. we’re surrounded by fans right now who can hear everything you say.. so maybe just think about that, hm?” She gestured to the photographers watching them interact. “I know you’re great with fans, so we also don’t want a picture misinterpreted either.”
Then she gave a bright smile, and Lucy struggled to believe how manipulative she was. She still didn’t speak until Kristie took Lucy’s phone from her pocket and waved it in front of her. Lucy went to grab it but she pulled it back.
“What. Do. You want.” She asked through gritted teeth.
She leant closer to Lucy, resting her weight on the barrier between them and locking eyes with her. Blue, determined eyes.
“I want a date with you.”
Lucy scoffed.
“I’m being serious,” she said with an innocent expression. “I know you, Luce-”
“Don’t call me that.” She said harshly and flinched as she saw that someone close by had heard her snapping.
“I do, though. I know you. Better than her… maybe even better than yourself. I think we could have a great time getting to know each other.”
Lucy didn’t speak. Did she really think she would accept that?
“Look, Lucy, I know things haven’t gone well between us lately..”
Was she kidding? Lucy didn’t even know the woman.
“…but I think everything had been misinterpreted and just blown up too much. I’m sorry about my friends.. they know I like you and they’ve been the ones sending the photos and with the window incident…” She gave a sheepish look that make Lucy feel sick. The manipulation. Anyone listening could have actually believed her. And Lucy didn’t for one second believe that all of it wasn’t her doing. “So I want to apologise for them. They went way too far, so I’m here to say sorry to you.”
Lucy looked at her ‘friends’ either side of her and scoffed again. Why had they agreed to this?
“What you’ve done is unforgiveable. Give me my phone.”
“So you can text her?” She asked with audacity and jealousy.
“That’s none of your business.”
“Lucy, please! She doesn’t even know who you are. She doesn’t even like football. She’s just here to use you and drive your car and get work through you. That’s it. I’m really sorry to have to be the one to tell you, but that’s all she wants from you, and I can’t stand by and watch her abuse you like that. I care about you too much.”
Lucy took a deep breath in, pinching the bridge of her nose and closing her eyes. She didn’t trust herself to speak.
“Think about how you met her.. I mean.. I bet if you take a moment to think about it, it’ll be suspicious as hell. She’s purposely wormed her way in and used you. I’d never do that to you, Luce..” Lucy flinched. “Like I said… I know you. You care a lot, especially about your family. You work hard. You love to have fun and tease. And… I wouldn’t do what she’s done. I wouldn’t shut you out because someone sent me photos of you with a friend.”
Lucy’s gaze shot up and met hers. She pulled back slightly, realising what she’d just admitted. So the photos of Lucy and Ona had been from her. Of course they had.
“I was doing it for you.. to show you that she doesn’t know you and doesn’t deserve you, Lucy. I know you’d never cheat.”
Lucy stared blankly, almost conflicted.
“So go on a date with me tonight… and I’ll give your phone back at the end. Who knows, you might be surprised at just how well we get on. I can be pretty entertaining.” She flashed her smile again, and if Lucy was being honest with herself, it was pretty.
So that was the crux of it all. A date for her phone. She looked at the time showing on the screen. Five twenty-eight pm. She realised then that she would miss her phone call with YFN.
“She can go another night without hearing from you.” Kristie cooed, as if reading her thoughts and wiggled her phone in front of her. “It’s your choice.”
The occupation [of Palestine] has [...] witnessed a process of economic integration without parallel political integration or representation. The OPT [occupied Palestinian territories] are highly dependent on Israel for basic goods and consistently run a trade deficit with Israel. Citrus from the OPT for example is exported to Europe through Israel and then sold back to the Palestinians as processed juices and preserves because no facilities exist to process the raw materials. Almost all of the OPT agricultural imports come from Israel, and are either grown there or imported through Israeli firms. A UN study in the-mid 1980s showed that 50 percent of Palestinian imports from Israel had been produced domestically prior to the occupation (Awartani, 1993).
Palestinians procure from Israel some 90 to 100 thousand tons of fruits and vegetables annually (Awartani, 1993). While a small portion of these exports are produce not grown locally, most are products with which the OPT suffers from severe surpluses, yet are offered cheaper by the subsidized Israeli market. Meanwhile 5,000 tons of fresh fruit and vegetables are exported to Israel and around 40,000 tons of oranges are exported to Israel juice processing factories. Therefore, the physical agricultural trade deficit of the OPT to Israel is in the range of 40,000 to 70,000 tons. This fluctuates as Israel uses the OPT as a buffer to fill shortages and stabilize prices. Israel is highly selective about what it allows across the green line and its practice of holding up agricultural produce has a crippling effect on local farmers.
Due to the high levels of subsidization of Israeli agriculture, Palestinian growers operate with considerable comparative disadvantages. For example, in 1981 the total value of Israeli government subsidies to agriculture equaled $1.5 billion – equivalent to twice the total value of agricultural output for that year (Awartani, 1993). The unique perception of the role of agriculture in building the State has been expressed in generous support programs covering all aspects of production and marketing and the full range of services supportive to agricultural development.
Israel also helps regulate risk, regulates supply through marketing boards and promotes agricultural exports. Israel’s subsidies, particularly cheap water, are particularly damaging to Palestinian agriculture, and enervating, due to the fact that the 90% of the water of the (inequitably) shared Mountain aquifer resources originates as rainwater in the West Bank. Presently, more than 85% of the Palestinian water from the West Bank aquifers is taken by Israel, accounting for 25.3% of Israel’s water needs. While subsidy levels have been decreasing since the 1980s, Israel has devised other means of restraining Palestinian agricultural activity. Chief among these is the permit system. For example military order No. 1015 (Aug. 27, 1982) gave the power to authorities to require permission for the planting of fruit trees other than that for personal consumption.
He heard the blood rush into his ears, felt the pain in his chest, as he watched her ride away. Out of his sight - out of his life. Daryl wanted to run after her and find the right words to make it all alright again, but his feet were like glued to the ground. He couldn't move. All he could do, was stare after the woman he loved and blame himself for being such a stupid idiot.
"Who is that?" The familiar voice of Leah urged suddenly to his ears. Only now did he recognise, that she had walked over to him and was standing now directly beside him. "Daryl, who is that?" Leah repeated her question. The archer sighed, felt the stinging tears in his eyes. "Y-Y/N." "No." He heard her say, as she stepped in front of him with crossed arms, blocking his view. "Who is she?" Of course knew Daryl what she meant, but the last thing he wanted was to discuss that with her now. "My friend." Leah shook her head. "Oh come on... You can't fool me. She wasn't just a friend. You said you love her. Do you say that to every friend?" Daryl shook his head, "I don't wanna talk 'bout that with ya." and tried to walk past Leah. He had to find you. But she didn't let him. She stood in his way, stopping him. "No, you're not just walking out of this!" Daryl tried it again, but once more Leah stopped him and placed both her hands on his chest in an attempt to push him back - what barely worked. "Tell me! Who is that woman?! Is she your girlfriend?!" The collision was inevitable now. The man was aware of that. "Yes, she is." Leah scoffed, looking at him incredulously - almost offended at his words. "Your girlfriend?" Slowly, but surely, Daryl began to lose his temper at the petulant behaviour of Leah. "Yeah. Got a problem with that?" Another scoff. "Isn't that obvious, Daryl?! Yes, yes, I do have a problem with that?!" "Why?!" "Because I thought you and I were a thing?!" His brows furrowed in disbelief. "What?! No! We ain't somethin'!" The woman's jaw dropped. "You call this nothing, but what you have with that poor excuse of a woman is something?! Are you shitting me?!" The archer shook his head, offended by his so-called friend's words. "Nah. That 'poor excuse of a woman' means everything ta me. I love 'er and I certainly ain't goin' to lose 'er, 'cause of you!" With those words he quickly grabbed his crossbow, slung it over his shoulder and passed the angered woman by. He had to find you. That was all that mattered now. "Fine! Fuck off! Just know that I won't give up without a fight!" Daryl ignored her. He didn't give a shit about that now. He had way more important things to do...
First off, he got his bike. Pulling away all the branches, leaves and undergrowth he had disguised it with, to free the vehicle from its hiding spot. He quickly checked on it, made sure that everything was working, before he swung himself on it and quickly followed your traces. Unfortunately, he lost them after a while. There were just too many hoof prints. He was a very good tracker, but keeping different hoof prints apart was even for him a difficult task. Cursing under his breath, he decided to go to Alexandria first; search there. It was your home, after all, so the chances were high that you possibly went there. Turning his bike around on the slightly muddy path, he drove to Alexandria.
It had been a while, since he lastly set foot behind those high steel walls. Weeks. Months. Nevertheless, he felt immediately welcomed by its people - despite the long time he's been away. Daryl passed by a lot of familiar face, who greeted him and gave him a smile. Rosita, Aaron, Siddiq, Gabriel - yes, even Eugene. But the happiest greeting he received, came from a whole different person... "Daryl!" He had been just on the way to your house, when a soft, delicate voice called out his name. Of course, he knew exactly to whom the voice belong to, so he stopped in his tracks and turned around. Despite all the troubled feelings coursing through his system, he couldn't help but to smile softly, when a little girl with a hat came running his way. "Daryl!" She exclaimed happily once again, and before he could even blink, she was wrapped up in his arms for a hug. "Hey kid." He said, in a low gruff voice. "Ya alright?" The little girl nodded, before she stepped back from the hug, still smiling brightly. "You too?" He just gave her a nod, even though he was everything but alright. "You're back!" Another nod. "Only for now. 'M lookin' for Y/N. Do ya know where she is? She here?" Just as Judith wanted to answer, another voice cut through the air. "She isn't here. She left three days ago, headed for the Kingdom to help them." Michonne. Daryl looked up, straight in the face of his friend, who now began to smile. "Hey. Great to see you." The archer straightened up, "Yeah, likewise..." and gave her a nod as well. "Y/N ain't 'ere?" Michonne shook her head. "No, I'm sorry. If you want to see her, you have to go to the Kingdom." "Alright, thanks." Daryl turned on his heels and wanted to leave, when his friend stopped him. "Why don't you stay a while? Get some rest and food." "Nah, ain't stayin'. I can't." He just said and walked away, before Michonne or even Judith were able to say something again. Swinging himself back on his bike, he left Alexandria and headed as fast as his motorcycle could go to the Kingdom.
The gates of the Kingdom got opened for him as well, of course. It may have been a long time since he was in Alexandria, but it was an even longer time since he had lastly visited the Kingdom. He got greeted warmly nevertheless. Word spread at lightning speed that the archer was here, so it was no wonder when he was soon face to face with his best friend. "Oh, hello stranger." Carol greeted him with a smile, arms crossed over her chest. "What are you doing here, huh?" Daryl got off of his bike. "Searchin' for Y/N... She here?" The woman with white-grey hair frowned, "Y/N? No." and shook her head. "She's not with you? She wanted to go to you; left the Kingdom this morning." Fuck. Daryl groaned in frustration and cursed himself now even more for letting you just ride away. Now you were lost - and it was his fault. His mind started to spin wildly. What if something happened to you? What if you were hurt? Got attacked? Or God forbid... Bitten by a walker? Worry took over his mind - something what Carol seemed to notice straight away. "Okay, what happened?" Daryl chewed on his bottom lip, shaking his head. "Was an idiot... Messed everythin' up." Carol looked at her best friend critically, quirking her eyebrows, while crossing her arms over her chest once again. "You messed up?" The archer swallowed, nodding. "Big time." "What did you do, Daryl?" "Remember when I told ya about that woman? Leah?" "Your friend?" Once more he shook his head. "She ain't a friend. Wouldn't call 'er that. More like acquaintances." Carol thought for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah, right. I can remember her. What about her?" "Well..." Daryl started, fumbling nervously with his hands. "Y/N saw me 'n her together, sittin' at the river, talkin'... Leah, uh, kissed ma cheek 'n now Y/N's thinkin' I cheated on her - which I never would. Ya know me!" The archer huffed out frustrated, lowering his head, which caused some brown strands of shaggy hair to fall in his face. "I tried to explain 'er, that Leah and I are jus' friends, but... She ain't listened ta me." Carol shook her head. "I told you to be careful with that woman. Why did you let her get this close to you? Didn't you see that she is more than just in a friendly way interested in you?" Now it was Daryl's turn to shake his head and helplessly shrug his shoulders. "No, I... I thought she jus' wanted some company, 'cause she's alone too..." His best friend sighed. "You really are an idiot sometimes... And blind..." "Tell me somethin' new..." He said in a sad tone, lifting his head once again, before he turned to walk away. "Gotta go, keep on lookin' for 'er." Carol nodded and reached for her bow and arrows. "I'll come with you." "No. Stay here. In case Y/N comes back." The woman sighed, but agreed. "Alright. Take care, yes?" Daryl nodded and swung himself on his bike. "Always do." "I know, but you are not in your right mind at the moment." Daryl just looked at his best friend for a moment, before he started the vehicle and quickly drove passed the steel doors, leaving the Kingdom behind himself.
The archer had no other choice now, than to somehow try to track you down and search every nook and cranny of the area. He just had to find you - even if you probably didn't want to be found by him. Just to make sure that you were safe. It was his top priority. Keeping you safe and making sure you were alright - and now he realised, that he didn't make sure of that all those past months and years. He trusted the safety of Alexandria's walls, instead of doing it himself. He should've taken you with him. On this way he would've never needed to fear for your life right now. He would've never lost you. If something happened to you know, it was going to be his fault - and he would need to live with this for the rest of his life. Something he clearly never could. Yes, he had to find you - as fast as somehow possible.
With the clock ticking; minutes turning into hours, Daryl got more and more worried. He followed a trace already a few times, always thinking it could be yours, but it always led him to something different, or it came to nothing and was just a dead end. Well... The wood was big and the possibilities almost endless. You could be everywhere and nowhere.
Another hour - maybe even hours (Daryl couldn't tell.) passed. The archer had got rid of his bike a long time ago, hiding it in the thicket and kept on searching on foot. He thought that this was probably the better option.
The sun hung low in the sky by now, telling the man that it would get dark soon. There was only an hour, probably two left he could search in daylight. He was still looking up in the cloudy sky, when a noise suddenly caught his attention. A noise, which sounded like the neigh of a horse. Looking around and checking his surroundings, Daryl quickly followed the sounds - and indeed found a stray horse... A saddled stray horse. Your horse - but you weren't with the majestic animal... The horse was in a complete tizzy; clearly afraid and in panic. Daryl could tell. He approached the animal slowly, hands raised as if to signal the stallion, that he wasn't a threat. "Hey... I ain't gonna hurt ya, okay?" He made another few steps, getting closer. "I promise..." When Daryl had reached the troubled horse, he touched the ridge of his nose, in order to calm the frightened animal down. The stallion's nostrils flared. Daryl could feel his warm, ragged breath against his arm - but minutes later after speaking quietly to him and petting him gently, your horse seemed to calm down. "Yeah, that's it. Good boy." The archer moved his hand, petted his neck. "Where's Y/N, huh?" He was very worried by now. You wouldn't just send your horse away. That was very unlike you. His mind raced a mile per hour; dozens of possibilities running through his head what could've happened to you. Maybe the stallion was afraid of something and unseated you? In that case you were more than likely injured - and with that, easy prey for the walkers. Daryl shook quickly his head. No... He couldn't think about this now. All that mattered now, was to find you. Not the what ifs. "Come on, boy. Let's go find Y/N." He took the reins of your stallion in his hand and continued his search. He hoped, that he was close to finding you finally. Finding your horse was at least a good start. Daryl tried to track you now with the help of the horse's hoof prints, leading the animal back to where it came from - and he was successful...
The traces led him to a slim, but long riverbed, which was surrounded by trees and hills. Unfortunately, the traces stopped straight at the cliff. Daryl looked down, scanned his surroundings. Nothing. So, he decided to just follow the riverbed, upstream; in the hopes of finding you - and he did. About ten minutes later, he stopped in his tracks once again and looked around, eyes especially focused on the riverbed beneath him. His gaze came to an abrupt halt, when he saw something rather big laying in the shallow water. Squinting his eyes, he noticed it was a body. It could be a walker - or you. Of course, he decided to check on it, so he marched quickly forward, taking the horse with him. "Come on."
The closer he got, the bigger became his steps. Reaching the point, where he had spotted the body, the archer stopped. His eyes focused again on the body - widening mere seconds later in shock. It was indeed your body, laying motionless in the shallow water. Daryl felt how his heartbeat quickened. Hopefully you were just hurt and unconscious and not dead. "Stay." He told the horse, which would hopefully stay and made his way as fast as possible down the hill. Being focused on his path ahead, Daryl didn't notice the lonely walker trudging through the water - straight into your direction...
A few minutes later, he had finally made it down to the riverbed. Getting to you, was the only thing on his mind right now. Barely after he had lifted his head, the next shock rippled through his body. A lone walker, getting on its rotten knees beside you, ready to take a bite. Oh no, he thought. "Nah, you ain't takin' her away from me, you filthy piece of shit." At lightning speed, he loaded his crossbow and shot. The arrow hit its target perfectly, piercing the walker's skull and causing it to fall limp and lifeless on the ground beside you. There was no holding back now. Daryl quickly ran towards you, falling on his knees beside you, making the water splash around him. "Y/N?! Y/N?!" He took your head gently in his hands, checking your pulse and trying to wake you up. When he felt your beating carotid beneath his fingertips, a relieved breath left his lips. Thank god, he thought. You were still alive. "Y/N?" Daryl called out your name again and gently shook your shoulder. Your body twitched the slightest bit, before your eyes fluttered open. Y/E/C orbs looked up at his face, mustering it. "D-Daryl?" You whispered, clearly only halfway conscious. "I'm here, Y/N, I'm here." A shallow smile slipped on your face. "Daryl." He nodded, thumb grazing your cheek softly. "I got ya, sunshine. I got ya. Always do. Always will." You smiled again, before you slipped into the dark depths of unconsciousness once again, while Daryl checked on you. He immediately noticed the big wound on the side of your head. Moving further down your body, he saw a few scratches on your hands and a big gash on your left shin as well. He fumbled for his rug and wrapped it around your leg, in order to staunch. He checked his surroundings for any walkers, but the coast was clear. "Alright. We gotta go. It's gettin' dark." So, he lifted you up as careful as possible and carried you over to the hill. Of course, he couldn't get you up there, so he had to lead the horse down the luckily not too steep cliff and somehow managed to get you on the horse, before he climbed on the stallion's back as well behind you. Daryl caged you in between his arms to keep you from falling and steadied your head against his chest. He couldn't care less about the fact that he was getting himself wet, due to the fact that your clothes were literally soaked. All Daryl wanted was to get you as fast as possible back to the Kingdom and a doctor to check on your injuries.
It was pitch black outside, when Daryl finally reached the Kingdom. The steel doors got opened immediately, of course and a doctor was as well within minutes at your side. Although you didn't notice anything of what was going on around you. Not how they stitched up your wounds and administered you some medicine, neither how worried Daryl was or how he sat by your bedside, holding your hand, until you finally regained consciousness again.
Your eyes fluttered open once again, meeting an almost entirely dark room. The only source of light came from somewhere beside you. The first thing you noticed was the dull pain in your head and leg, causing you to hiss softly. The second thing you noticed, was the big, warm hand enveloping yours. Tilting your head slightly down, you saw nobody else than Daryl sitting on a chair beside you, looking utterly worried, tired and worn out. You tried to speak, but your throat was completely dry. All that left your lips were some strange sounds - something the archer noticed immediately. His eyes snapped up to meet yours. "Y/N! Yer awake!" You tried to speak again, but nothing. So, you gestured to your throat. Daryl understood, of course and reached for the glass of water on your bedside table, before his free hand disappeared underneath your head, lifting it gently, in order to help you drink. "T-Thank you." "’Course." You blinked a few times and looked around. "W-Where am I and w-what happened?" Daryl took a deep breath. "I was searchin' for ya the whole day... Found yer horse and followed the traces, which led me to that riverbed, where I found you. Injured and seconds away from gettin' bitten. I brought ya back to the Kingdom. Was closer than Alexandria." You swallowed hard and nodded. "What happened to ya?" Daryl asked carefully, voice still laced with worry. "Can you... remember?" You nodded once more. "Y-Yeah... After our fight, all I wanted was to run away, so I just rode through the woods, not caring about where my horse would lead me. At some point I was on top of those cliffs and then everything happened kind of fast. Something scared him - I don't know what. It definitely wasn't a walker. That much I can tell. It... came out of nowhere, so he unseated me. I hit the ground and hit my head, I guess." You explained and reached for the glass of water once more. Daryl was again quick to help you drink. "When the horse unseated ya on top of that cliff... How did ya got in the riverbed?" "Well..." You started, your demeanour suddenly shifted, turning bitter and sad. "Your new girlfriend got me there." Daryl's heart almost stopped at your words and he grimaced at the term you used. "L-Leah got you there?!" "Yeah. When I reopened my eyes, I saw a figure hovering above me and felt the ground move underneath me. She dragged me towards the cliff and helped me stand up, before she pushed me over the edge, causing me to fall over, of course. On my way down, I hit a stone and well, something must've cut my shin, too. If I didn't just hit my head real bad a few minutes ago and if my vision would've been clear and straight, I would've fought that bitch and tried to stop her, but I couldn't." The archer just stared at you, speechless. He couldn't believe that a kind woman like he thought Leah was, would do something like that, but then he remembered her words... Just know that I won't give up without a fight! It only proved to him once more, that he was deceived in her. He felt how anger bubbled up in his system. Leah almost caused him to lose the woman he loved. Maybe that was her plan after all. "You don't believe me, do you?" Your words ripped Daryl out of his thoughts. He quickly pushed his anger aside. Now wasn't the time for this. He needed to get things right between you and him.
"Nah, of course I do. There ain't a reason to not believe ya." He shook his head. "'M so sorry, Y/N. For everythin'. You didn't deserve this. All of it. I was an idiot." You crossed your arms over your chest. "Yes, you pretty much are. It hurts, Daryl." "I-I know, but please, let me explain now." You sighed, but nodded. "Go on." "Leah's not ma girlfriend. I met - or well, rather found 'er a few months ago. She was alone, so was I, so we just became companions. There was never more than that, I swear." You frowned. "But... She touched you, kissed you on the cheek... Daryl, that's not nothing." "I know, but it was her, not me. Guess she had a thing fer me or somethin', but I didn't know! I didn't see through her intentions, 'cause..." He tried feverishly to explain. Daryl had been never good with words, but he needed to be good right now. "Because?" "'Cause all I ever thought about was you. I love ya, Y/N. Always did, always will. That ain't goin' to change. I never saw it clearer than I do now. Gods, I felt like dyin' when I watched ya leave - and don't get me started when you were missin'. I was worried sick, almost shit my pants." His words went straight to your heart, pulling at your heartstrings. You knew you should be pissed at him. You knew you shouldn't just forgive him, but... What he said and how he was looking at you now - like a lost and beaten puppy... You couldn't. After all, that man was the love of your life - and oh how much you still loved him. And besides, if he wouldn't go out there to search for you, you would be more than likely dead now. "Oh Daryl..." You lifted your hand to cup his beardy cheek, causing his eyes to meet yours. "You really are an idiot..." You started to smile. "But you're my idiot." He blinked. "Does that... Does that mean yer comin' back ta me?" A soft giggle left your lips. "I was never gone, my love. Just... off track." The corners of Daryl's mouth lifted slightly as well. "You're forgivin' me?" "I do, but you gotta make it up to me." The archer nodded quickly. "'Course, sure. I'll do anythin' for ya, sunshine. Whatever ya want." "Then stay with me." You said, taking his hand in yours. "Just be here. I never want to miss you again." Daryl gave your hand a squeeze, smiling. "Promise." That was all you wanted and needed to hear. You reached for the lapels of his shirt with your free hand and pulled him down to you. Daryl understood your intentions and locked his lips on yours.
But as quick as the kiss started, as quick was it over again, when Carol entered the room. "The trouble in paradise is cleared, like I see." Her words caused you both to split apart, startled by her sudden appearance. She just smiled down at you two, arms crossed over her chest.
Mimic
McFoord x Baby!Reader
Summary: You're definitely Katie's child
Tumblr media
Hiding the pregnancy had been difficult.
Caitlin had picked up an ankle injury around the same time as she started to show so it was easy to write it off as long-term, hunkering down in the house like some kind of hermit.
Hiding you away for a year had been even harder.
Some fans were eagle-eyed and as a result, you were never posted on any social media. You didn't even come to training. You'd never met any of the Arsenal girls in person at all even though you were approaching eighteen months.
Which was why it was so shocking for everyone involved when Katie got out of the car for a home match against Manchester City with a child on a backpack leash.
As soon as you are on your feet, you attempt to escape but Katie tugs on your leash to stop you in your tracks.
You give her a foul look in return before you're plucked into Caitlin's arms.
The crowd watching the players arrive all scream out questions as they walk inside.
"It's nice to finally meet the little one," Kim says pointedly as the two of them arrive in the locker room.
"You've seen her before," Katie replies.
"Over the phone doesn't count," Kim says," She's a little cutie. You must be proud."
Caitlin watches you from the corner of her eye as you methodically rip everything out of her cubby and throw it on the floor. "Something like that."
"She's just like me!" Katie's been waiting for ages to be able to brag about you so she's lapping up all the attention.
"She has a bit of a temper," Caitlin confesses when Katie runs off to show you to everyone else in the changing room," Definitely gets that from Katie.
"We didn't expect to see her today..."
"Babysitter cancelled. There were no other options. We'll probably just tie her leash to a post and call it a day. She'll wander around otherwise."
"She's restless?"
Caitlin winces. "Feral might be the word. I love her but...Katie calls her a gremlin sometimes."
Kim looks past Caitlin to where you're now chewing on Katie's fingers, methodically biting down on each one as she introduces you to everyone.
"Well...she's certainly Katie's..."
Caitlin laughs. "Don't I know it."
You're being surprisingly tame today, for what it's worth, even as you try to make another break for it. You're yet again pulled back by your kiddie leash and Caitlin is left to marvel over just how steady you are on your feet.
It had been hard hiding you from the fans and even harder to not fold and continue to keep you away from their teammates. That second one wasn't even planned but you'd come out a little sickly and spent a few weeks in hospital.
It was enough to cause Katie to put the entire house on lockdown for months after your birth when getting chest infections became your norm.
By the time you were healthy and fit and coming into your own personality, it was too much of a risk to bring you to practice with all of the cameras around.
Either way, it's all ruined now because Caitlin knows the videos of you walking in on your kiddie leash are all over Twitter.
The cameras are all pointed towards you as Caitlin walks out onto the bench to start the game. Katie crouches down next to you, littering kisses all over your face as you giggle.
"I'll see you in a bit, gremlin," She says," You be good for your Mummy."
You garble out a few noises that Katie repeats back to you with a soft smile.
"You know," Steph laughs," Now that she's been spotted in the wild, you don't have an excuse for Sam and her kid to meet her. I hear her Chook's getting bored of waiting."
Caitlin sighs deeply as you slam two of your blocks together to show Leah the noise they make. "I don't think the world could take it if Sam's Chook and our Gremlin met. It's too much rough play for any pair."
"I think you underestimate Sam's Chook. I heard she's been very helpful and careful since Sam hurt her knee."
"It's not Chook I'm worried about." Caitlin tilts her head towards you where you've started to amuse yourself by kicking Leah's shin, giggling every time your little foot makes contact.
You head whips around as your watch your Mam get tripped nearby, landing with a thud.
You screech loudly and go to march towards her, grumbling and frowning as you go. You're stopped by a tug on your leash and a pointed look from your Mummy.
You recognise that look and point over at where your Mam is dusting herself off. "Fell," You say to Mummy," Mam fell."
Caitlin has to suppress her laughter. You've got a curious blend of hers and Katie's accents. Sometimes you sound fully Australian like Harper when you speak but other times it's like Caitlin gave birth to a mini Katie because your inflection is exactly the same as hers.
You sound like Katie now. You look like her too, hands on your hips and face like thunder.
"Your Mam did fall," Caitlin says as she pulls you closer," But she's gotten up now. She's fine."
You don't look convinced as you throw a nasty look over at the referee who did nothing against the clear foul.
"Do you remember my friend Steph? You met her on the phone before? Can you say hi?"
"Hi!" You chirp, giving her a beaming smile that shows off the teeth you have.
It's kind of funny to reconcile this beaming, happy version of you with the one that was screeching at the ref just minutes ago.
"Hi," Steph coos," It's very nice to meet you in person."
You're still smiling as you nod, bouncing on your feet as Caitlin digs around in your backpack. You seem to know what time it is because you turn that beaming smile from Steph to your Mummy.
"Bottle?" You ask hopefully and Mummy rewards you with a bottle full of milk that you hastily shove into your mouth.
You sit down at her feet as you chug your drink. Mummy runs a soft hand through your hair as you take a break and lean into her, wiggling back until you hit her legs.
You turn to smile at her and she smiles back.
Your drink is all empty in a little bit and you focus back on the football match in front of you. You clumsily climb to your feet in outrage when the referee shows your Mam a yellow rectangle.
You don't exactly know what it is but you know it's bad and you don't like it being shown to your Mam. You screech and throw your bottle, stamping your feet.
"No!" You say loudly and the bench behind you bursts into laughter," No! No! Bad! Bad referee!"
Caitlin buries her head in her hands as she tugs firmly on her leash when you attempt to run onto the field to give the ref a piece of your mind.
"She's definitely Katie's," Steph howls through her laughter.
Special - Tommy Wernicke x You
Tumblr media
Requested by @gea-chan96 ❤️😍
Plot: You get bullied and teased by Leah and Stacy for not having sex yet with your boyfriend, Tommy Wernicke.
Leah and Stacy sauntered up to you during their lunch break, smirking maliciously. "Oh look, it's Miss Virgin over there. Is Tommy not man enough for you or something?"
"Hey there, honey," Leah drawled, "We heard your little secret. No luck in bed yet?" Stacy chimed in, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
You, feeling frustration welling within yourself, clenching your fists tightly. "Leave us alone!" you snapped back, trying to hide the hurt from their words.
"Oh come on," Leah sneered, "you should see my nights with Mark, my boyfriend. You have no idea how amazing our nights are. Me and Mark be doing it every night. Maybe I should share some tips with you, since Tommy won't."
"Yeah, maybe he needs some lessons from Mark. He knows how to please a woman, unlike your loser boyfriend." Stacy said.
You bit your lip. "Please, don't speak about my boyfriend like that."
Leah scoffed sarcastically, "What are you gonna do about it? Tell him? Ha! He probably won't even care."
You walked away feeling hurt and frustrated
Tommy walking towards you after school, concerned expression on his face "Hey, what happened? You look upset."
You sigh heavily, rubbing your temper. "Just Leah and Stacy being mean again. They were talking shit about us, saying that we haven't had sex and how your skills are awful."
His jaw tightens, anger boiling inside him. "Those bitches…"
You nod, tears welling in your eyes. "It's okay, I shouldn't let them get to me like this…"
Reaching out, he brushes away your tears gently. "Don't worry about them. You know I love you, right?"
Nodding weakly, wiping away more tears. "Yes, but it still hurts hearing those things…"
Tommy embracing you tightly, his voice softens, "They can't change who we are or how much we mean to each other."
Later that day, when you and Tommy were alone at home, you shared what happened with Leah and Stacy again. Gently, Tommy takes your hand in his, and said softly, "Don't let them get to you. Their words mean nothing."
Seeing the pain in your eyes, he knew he had to make things right. "Look at me," he commanded gently, tilting your chin up until your eyes met. "You're beautiful, inside and out. And I would never disrespect you like that."
A small smile graced your lips, but he could tell there was still doubt. "Just trust me," he whispered, pulling you close for a warm hug. "One day soon, we'll show them all just how great our relationship truly is."
You gaze at him for a moment longer than necessary, Leah and Stacy words made you somehow more insecure and very unsure. "You don't want me, do you?" you ask Tommy tentatively.
His heart skipped a beat at your question. Shaking his head firmly, he replied, "Of course I want you! You're the only person I want to be with, and nothing anyone else says can change that. I promise we'll prove them wrong when the time is right."
Gently brushing a strand of hair from your face, he leaned in closer, your noses almost touching. "But for now," he murmured, "let's focus on making sure we're both comfortable and ready for that moment. I wouldn't want you to feel pressured into anything you're not ready for."
Seeing the uncertainty fade from your eyes slightly, he added, "And remember, their opinions mean nothing compared to ours."
You look into his eyes searchingly before swallowing the gulp in your throat. "What if I told you that I'm ready?"
Surprise flickered across Tommy's features for a moment before his expression softened into pure joy. "Really?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. "Are you sure, absolutely sure?"
Wrapping an arm around your waist, he pulled you close, your bodies pressed together. "If you're ready, then so am I," he confessed, looking deep into those gorgeous of yours. "But only if you're certain, because this changes everything between us."
As you nodded against his chest, he continued, "Let's take things slow, okay? We've got plenty of time ahead of us to explore and discover new things about each other."
With a gentle kiss to your forehead, he promised, "Tonight, we'll start with something simple – just us, skin to skin, without any expectations or pressure."
You take a deep breath feeling nervous but excited at the same time. "I trust you with all my heart, Tommy."
Tommy smiling broadly, he cupped your face in his hands, brushing his thumbs gently over your cheeks. "That means the world to me," he whispered, leaning in for another tender kiss. "Now, why don't we get upstairs and make tonight special?"
Holding hands as you both ascended the stairs, excitement bubbled within you and Tommy. This wasn't just about proving Leah and Stacy wrong; it was about showing you how much he cherish and adore you. As you both reached his bedroom, you two began undressing each other slowly, his eyes never leaving yours.
Once you were both comfortably under the covers, he took your hand again, saying softly, "Remember, we're in control here. If at any point you want to stop, just tell me."
Nodding shyly, you snuggled closer, your hearts pounding in sync.
"Make love to me, Tommy..."you whispered softly caressing his face.
Tumblr media
Feeling a rush of emotion, he closed the gap between you both, sealing your lips with his passionately. When you finally broke apart, he murmured, "You're beautiful," before beginning to gently kiss a trail down your neck and shoulders.
Slowly, he trailed his fingers along your body, loving every inch of your skin beneath his.
As he kissed down your body, your breath hitched, but you didn't pull away. Your skin felt silky smooth under his touch, and he marveled at its warmth.
His heart raced as he planted a trail of kisses lower, inching towards the treasure that awaited him. When he found the curve of your hip, he paused, taking a deep breath. This moment meant everything - the first time exploring someone so deeply, someone who trusted him entirely.
With gentle hands, he took off your panties. The sight that greeted him took his breath away; pure, unblemished beauty. Gently, he brushed a kiss across your thigh, savoring the shiver that ran through your body.
Moving closer, he positioned himself between your legs, your gazes locked. "Ready?" he whispered softly. You nodded, a blush spreading across your features. With tenderness, he entered you slowly, feeling your tightness envelop him and your muscles resist a little.
Pausing briefly, allowing you time to adjust, he started moving gently. Your eyes never left each other's as he reveled in the feel of your body beneath his. Each thrust brought you both closer, connected in ways neither of you could have imagined.
The room became filled with soft moans and gasps, your lovemaking growing more intense. But despite the heat, he remained careful, ensuring you were comfortable throughout.
Finally, as pleasure peaked, you cried out his name, wrapping your legs around him. In response, he gave one last surge, finding release together.
When you lay there spent, sweaty, and breathless, he whispered, "I love you," pressing a kiss to your temple.
"I love you too," you whispered back softly.
In that moment, surrounded by love and intimacy, it was clear that Leah and Stacy couldn't comprehend the connection you shared together.
Thinking about what just happened between you and Tommy, you blushed deeply burying your face into his neck.
Laughing softly, he wrapped his arms tighter around you. "It's okay to blush," he murmured into your hair. "I'm just glad you chose me for this momentous occasion."
Slowly, he kissed your neck, enjoying the feel of your skin under his lips. "There's no one else I'd rather be with, either," he admitted, nuzzling you affectionately.
After a few moments of silence, he asked, "How do you feel right now?"
"Sore," you chuckled softly and a bit shyly, "but I've never felt better."
Grinning, he squeezed you lightly. "Well, that's normal," he assured, planting a kiss on your forehead. "But don't worry, it gets better with time."
As you two lay there, you felt a sense of contentment wash over you. Despite the soreness, his words and care filled your heart with happiness. "So, ready for round two?" he joked lightly, knowing you'd understand his meaning.
Resting his chin on top of your head, he continued, "Those bullies have nothing on us."
This is pretty much what happened when House of the Dragon cast the Velaryons. I straight up saw someone comment that they got “triggered” by changes made to the canon story. Buddy, half the time it’s the authors themselves who make these changes - in the Percy Jackson series we’ve got Leah as Annabeth and RR himself picked her. And YET…
While many edgelords throw a temper tantrum if their favourite characters are cast as non-white in an adaptation, they’re especially threatened if the character is black. Like my guy, it’s a fantasy show where characters are often seven feet tall and can ride dragons or fight ice zombies, and somehow them not looking like 20th century WASPs is the least realistic thing for you?????
