I hope someday kids don't have to fear coming out to their Catholic families. I hope someday they're raised being taught the whole truth, that while actions are sinful and the Church cannot condone them, feelings and temptations are not, and that God doesn't love them any less for something they can't control. I hope when they start to feel these things their immediate reaction isn't "oh no, my parents will kill me if they find out" but, "I need to talk about this with my parents". I hope someday it's no longer treated as the worst thing a person could be, or something that needs to be hidden. I hope someday they don't feel unwelcome by their parish, that they know they belong there just as much as anyone else. I hope someday they're taught that a celibate life is not a punishment, but a beautiful way to live a holy life- not just for lgbt people, but for anyone who chooses it, and that it's no longer looked at as a lesser option. I hope someday they can confidently turn to their loved ones for support and guidance, and not have to carry this alone. I hope someday lgbt Catholics are loved in the Church like God loves them.

To parents of trans kids who are scared of their kids facing transphobia:
Don't force your child out of being trans. Don't force them to detransition. This is not how your child from facing transphobia. Realistically, you are pushing them toward more dangerous situations because they will be desperate to find acceptance from anywhere they can.
I can't imagine how it feels to be a parent and worry about your child's safety or life because they are trans in this world. You have my full sympathy. While I can't speak from the experiences of a parent, I can speak from the experiences of a trans person who was once a child and why the above line of thinking is dangerous.
When I came out as trans, there was a huge proportion of time where my dad was very resistant to my transness. I couldn't understand why, but I believe part of why he was so resistant was because he was afraid somebody would assault or kill me because I am trans. That is a huge burden for him to think about. However, he went about this (valid) fear in a very destructive way.
He threatened my transition, he threatened to force me to detransition, and he threatened a lot of things. I retreated away from him, I couldn't talk to him about anything. I felt confined, unaccepted. I am lucky my friends and school were accepting, because I was vulnerable. Others haven't been lucky - so many people in that position have been taken advantage of by truly evil people.
You might think that you are protecting your child by making them appear cis, but that isn't how that plays out. Your child won't feel accepted, and chances are that if something horrific happened to them, gd-forbid, they won't come to you about that. This isn't protection, and I am sorry to say that. I am sorry that this isn't simple.
Here is how you can protect your trans child:
Make it clear you support them
Teach them self-respect, and how to listen to their gut feeling
Teach them appropriate versus inappropriate ways people can interact with them. Make sure they understand what harassment and abuse can look like - verbal, physical, and sexual
If you are still concerned for their physical safety, sign them up for self-defense classes
Leave the floor open for them to express how they are feeling and what they are thinking. Be non-judgmental when they are upset or worried
Please remember that trans people are painfully aware of the consequences of being trans in a transphobic world. Hell, one of the first trans people I learned about as a kid was killed as a result of a hate crime. We are aware of the world we live in. We have to live with that knowledge, and that is why it is imperative that you allow your trans child to express who they are and how they feel. You very well could save them by doing so.
We protect trans youth by empowering trans youth.

I think what hbomberguy missed out on his video was the way James Somerton also dismissed ace people's oppression by claiming that they didn't 'go through conversion therapy' or apparently 'suffered as much as gay men'.
So here's a video I want to share by the Ace Couple going into depth about the whole thing and how James reacted when called out... spoilers, he didn't react well. I just hope by James' mistakes he and other people can learn something and grow.

Laura Ann Carleton was 66 years old.
Carleton, who preferred to be called "Lauri," did not identify as LGBTQ herself but spent time helping and advocating for everyone.

Mormons baptized Hitler so he could go to the best afterlife, and when they force their lgbt family members to become apostates they are knowingly sending them to the worst afterlife they can think of.
It is not enough to say MAGA caused this shooting without closely looking at how mormons as a whole would rather mass murders over a gay child.
This is just a small window into the hell of how mormons treat LGBT people.

ID: a screenshot of a short essay with text reading:
“We Don’t Deserve To Be Demonized
To the editor:
We all know about the anti-trans legislation being pushed by Youngkin. This is for the supporters, for everyone who isn’t sure or just doesn’t care:
You can ignore it but there’s bigotry in Virginia and from your support or inaction, you’re stoking the flames. I’m one of the many trans teens in Virginia and this legislation is just another sign not only are our rights in danger all over the world but in my state.
This legislation isn’t going to save anyone. It won’t protect children from sexual assault or keep the “perverted trans kids” away from your kids. The only thing it’s guaranteed to do is kill trans people.
Whether at the hands of bigots encouraged by the hysteria or even at our own hands in our desperation to escape this hell it’s creating, this legislation will kill us. But we’re not disappearing. Genocide has never eradicated queer people and never will. If it could, don’t you think we’d be gone already? You think your legislation can do what lynches and beatings couldn’t?
We’re not staying silent. We’re not monsters. We don’t deserve to be demonized just because you don’t understand our identities. You’re trying to control us as if you’ll manage what your bigoted predecessors failed but we all know things are changing. Even ACPS is pushing back.
Let me be clear: each death of a trans person following this legislation is murder. Each of you who write this legislation, each of you who claim neutrality or quietly agree, are all complicit in that. But if there’s one thing that I can guarantee about all of this, it’s that no matter what you do, from hate crimes to rallies to legislation, we will never disappear.
Our existence is not your decision.”

Today, I mourn the loss of safety for the LGBTQIA+ community.  I speak specifically on the horrendous legislation that is currently being passed in Tennessee, however this applies to a vast many other recent situations and determinations in a vast many other states and across our country as a whole.
The LGBTQIA+ community preaches nothing but love, acceptance, and understanding.  I beg you to follow in our footsteps and have compassion for the people who have been allowed very little of such in recent times. Our government's priorities are terribly skewed. Their mission is not one of equality, but one of power.
Regardless of what they may say in their reasoning for criminalizing transgender Healthcare and drag shows, their priority is not to protect our children. If they were prioritizing our children, they would be more focused on creating a safer environment in schools and providing easier access to healthcare across the board. If they were concerned with our children's wellbeing they would focus on the amount of children sleeping on the floors of various DHS offices across the country because they have nowhere else to go. Instead, they choose to manipulate and further marginalize an already drastically persecuted community.
Make no mistake - I in no way excuse anyone who uses the LGBTQIA+ community as an excuse to commit acts of crime and hatred, but I also do not condone criminalizing us in that community because of those people's actions. Similarly, I also make no excuses for anyone who uses Christianity as an excuse to commit acts of hatred, just as I also do not condone the stereotyping of the entire religion based on those people's actions. I currently am not a strong believer in any particular faith, however I can claim to have been educated on and raised in Christianity. From what I recall, Jesus spared no mind to who you were or what you looked like or how you lived; he sat with the whores, he spared time for the poor, he healed the sick, and he played in the streets with the children. He paid no mind except that you were not harming those around you and he preached to love thy neighbor - one would think he meant no exceptions to that love.
We are not mindless doodles, drawn into the edge of the page of an assignment only to be furiously erased before being turned in to be graded because we are not that particular professor's definition of socially acceptable. We are art. Just as you have your shapes and curves and colors and deserve to be appreciated and admired and accepted, we also have our own palettes and lines and designs that deserve to be sources of inspiration and hope and love. We will not allow ourselves to be discarded and turned away from the museums and galleries of our country's history. We deserve a spot to be displayed in there just as much as you or anyone else does.
I am a firm believer that the hatred that is fueling this horrid legislation is the same strand of hatred that stemmed many of the world's greatest atrocities. It is the same disregard for humanity that caused the Holocaust, led to the Trail of Tears, formed Asian internment camps, and many more attempts to dehumanize and erase marginalized communities from the relevant narrative.
If you do not see the harm in passing this and other similarly harmful and ridiculously disrespectful legislation, then do me a favor and remove yourself from my life. I have no space in my circle for anyone who chooses to ignore the wrongful criminalization of necessary and affirming Healthcare for transgender folks, of safety for physicans providing said Healthcare, of harmless self-expression in the form of extravagant and flamboyant methods of dress, and of so many more stretches and implications of this legislation.
We in the LGBTQIA+ community may teach peace, but do not mistake that ache for peace as submission. We are not afraid to raise our voices, for we have spent far too long allowing ourselves to be silenced.

Not Helena Bonham Carter saying it’s not ok for people to “witch hunt” JK but is ok for JK to inspire witch hunts for minorities using her mass fame to do it. People are so sad about her being hounded but not said when it’s trans people dying and abused even more because of what she’s done to the country.
Helena said: 'Do you ban a genius for their sexual practices?’ Yes Helena, JK literally is trying to get every trans person banned from even a toilet over their gender and implied sexual practices that aren’t true. Just because your mates and you are being hounded over life ruining actions, maybe you should change mates and behave differently if you’re all getting in trouble and abusing your power and endangering people for funsies, or fkin over your co-stars. Let’s face it, this isn’t about her care for JK she’s just upset probably because of all the hate she got for being a cheater. Because. It’s. Not. Nice. Celebrities think they’re supposed to be handed kindness constantly for not doing anything, or owed it, somehow. Like no if you do something bad you get in trouble. If we exist and do nothing, we get in trouble, or die, so your lives aren’t that bad. You have plenty of mates you can turn to or buy more friends. 😂
“You have to respect where people come from and their pain” yet that’s not being done for trans people, just further torturing is being done. You absolutely don’t need to respect it if they’re endangering people’s lives and become an abuser from it.
She's not meaning it aggressively, she's just saying something out of her own experience.' Babe she’s been inspiring nazi style uprisings for a few years now and chasing trans people out of the country, she publicly targeted a friend of mine on purpose and she literally can’t come back to this country to barley even see her own family because she was being dangerously attacked and ambushed by terfs all the time, online and in person.
It’s just wild how the people who all played the bad guys are coming out as transphobes and people not for equality and the good guys are all condemning her and rightly so.

I just came to a really obvious conclusion, and honestly, I think it can explain a lot.
I think a big reason why there is so much petty in-fighting in (some) queer spaces is simply because it is easy. It is easy to yell at other queer people for the language they use, or what labels they do or don't have, if they transition "right" or at all, if they are the "right" kind of queer, or whatever else. That shit is very easy.
It isn't easy, however, to fight queerphobia. It isn't easy to fight what can feel like a losing battle, and many queer people seem to almost give up because it feels like a losing battle. All those negative feelings bottle up, until it explodes and the shrapnel from those bottled-up feelings hits other queer people.
A recent anti-queer hate crime happened so close to my home town, and it really scared me. Those feelings of dread and doom and despair are indescribable. It's hard to wake up sometimes and intentionally decide to go outside because of it. This is an example, but it sometimes does feel like there's little I can do, y'know? So I think other queer people also feel like me, but they turn those feelings inward at other queer people.
I don't think this excuses anti-queerness coming from other queer people. But I think it can give us an idea of what that mindset is like. We need, more than ever, to defend each other. Queerphobia targets every queer person. To leave one queer person behind is to leave us all behind. Leaving one queer behind paints a target on all our backs. So be careful not to leave them to face queerphobia alone.

bro i hate my country's politicians so much it's unreal
#i truly and sincerely hope they all die in a fire i am not even slightly joking#they promote violence and encourage an even deeper split between the people. bc it helps them#and it's disgusting. they don't care who they hurt as long as they get more power#actually they DO care who they hurt. they WANT to hurt people!! that's how they get more right wing voters!!!!!#they openly and proudly announce they want palestinians dead and out of their homes and it's sickening#(the fact this is WHY people vote them is even more sickening. they fact they were allowed to get this far is awful)#in addition to that they ofc want the lgbt community dead and they actively hurt women's rights bc how can they not :^)#i hate it here i hate it here i hate it here i hate it here i hate it here#sorry for talking politics. i try to avoid it but everyone on social media is talking about it. i'm so tired i hope we all explode fr#actually i'm not done i really need to vent lol#it really feels like there's no hope. the fact it keeps happening. and it gets worse every election cycle#and it's all bc fucking netanyahu is trying to avoid going to jail :^) i hope he dies today right now actually#for years everyone on the left jokes abt moving to another country but now it's becoming literally real#many people already HAVE left the country!!!!! like how fucked up is that!!!!!! that's how bad things are here!!!!!!#there's been rallies and protests for months now. i think nearly half a year at this point bc i remember it started in the winter#but obviously it doesn't do jack shit. bc why would it. if none of the right wing politicians literally get murdered -#- there is no real threat to them and so they have no actual reason to care. i sincerely think someone should take one for the team -#- and kill one of them lol i truly think this is the only solution at this point.#not to mention many of them are literally just. gross people. you hear them talk and can tell they have no experience in politics#they're all violent and constantly yell and this is how they appeal to the other violent people here#which is also why i think violence is the only way they'll understand. but alas if the left becomes violent we will be hated even more#ignoring the fact they have been violent this whole time yeah? they literally try to RUN OVER PROTESTERS#do you see why i have no hope here. do you see why i hate this so much. how can one be optimistic about this. everything sucks

ID: text reading: “this is my issue w serano-esque criticisms of transunity. “transphobes dont hate trans women because theyre men they see them an underclass of women to abuse” are you telling me transphobes dont see trans women as men? all that misgendering is just posturing?”
Believe it or not, the post this quote comes from was about misgendering and then spun off into weird-ass transmisogynistic shit, mostly revolving “transunity”, but I saw this part here and I wanted to say something about it so sorry y’all, I’m bringing it over here.
The usage of serano-esque and an almost quote of hers literally entrances me. I say almost quote because OP explicitly edited out the fact the quote is about transmisogyny, not transphobia. Which is an important distinction because if you know anything about transmisogyny, you’ll know transmisogynists and transphobes are two totally different classes of bigots.
Without the distinction? The quote is just inaccurate and useless. And the idea you can connect transunity, some kind of watered-down-fucked-up idea of transmisogyny, and misgendering together like that is like trying to stick a rock to the table using canola oil and glitter glue. Which is to say, absurd and generally wild as fuck.
(That’s probably why the further the post goes, the wilder it gets tbh.)
It’s just. I know it’s not wildly appreciated when I make posts about transmisogyny but I think it’s absolutely fucking absurd posts like that can get tons of notes with next to no issue when OP and others are blatantly using transmisogynistic language and condescending to any trans women/fems who point it out and no one really seems to give a fuck. Like y'all wonder why a lot of TMA folks and even just anti-transmisogyny folks in general don't trust "transunity" fuckers? This is just one example in a list a mile long of shit that slides by in these crowds that's blatantly transmisogynistic but no one's allowed to say anything about it, even though it's complete bullshit and usually doesn't even make a coherent point.
So many of you have this idea that because you pride yourselves on not "policing" each others language, that you've somehow eliminated hierarchy and the oppression we need to fight within our community. That you can just "unite" and we can fight our oppressors instead but it doesn't work like that and all you wind up doing is acting like bigoted jackasses trying to mask it with progressive language. So actually fucking think before reblogging this type of shit and work on your transmisogyny for fucks sake, thank you.
