#I’m just going to say that anyone who says Jon is a bad lord commander and then their evidence is that he was assassinated
Text
ASOIAF stans can be very annoying because a common characteristic in any discussion about leadership in this series always delves into readers zeroing in on failures while they completely write off any successes. This happens with just about any person thrust into a position of power, but I see these bizarre standards most applied to Jon Snow and Daenerys (especially Dany). You’d think that after years and years of analyzing the text to death, we’d come up with more compelling arguments than “Jon Snow bad Lord Commander” and “Dany bad (she’s just bad)”. Fans have decided to define these two by the mistakes they make while completely writing off all the good they do. And then the most baffling thing is when they say that Dany and Jon are failures so someone else should be the endgame ruler….and then they name Young Griff as their chosen champion.
Setting aside the obvious role Aegon plays as a narrative foil to Jon and Dany, how can anyone say he would do a better job? He has done literally nothing. His skills are a blank slate. Where is the evidence that he would have better reforms for the Watch than Jon did? That he would know how to better handle the different factions at the Wall than Jon did? That he would know how to prepare for the upcoming food shortage than Jon did? Where is the evidence that he would know how to better handle Meereen than Dany did? That he would know how to better deal with the obviously gargantuan task of abolishing slavery?
The point is that ruling is hard. There’s no such thing as a perfect ruler in this series and if anyone thinks that there is, they obviously have not been paying attention. All who have been put in a position of leadership in this story fail in some way. That’s the nature of the job. Even good-hearted, well-intentioned people like Jon and Daenerys struggle with the weight of leadership. So even as they do such incredible good, they still have blind spots. That’s because they’re human and human beings are not perfect. And let’s be real, people would complain if they were suddenly so good at ruling despite their young age and inexperience. So it’s insane to me that fans will read these books and come to the conclusion that all that is needed, instead of Jon and Dany, is a perfect leader who will make everything ok - even more baffling when they name Aegon/Young Griff or some other person who has zero experience with administration so far. Please, let us be serious for once.

Current WIPs and Fic Concepts
I promised I would do this yesterday, and then I forgot!!! (I was very sleep deprived). Anyways, here are a bunch of the WIP premises that I have in my 'unfinished drafts' folder. Most have at least a few pages written for them, but I love them all! ☺️💕
- A Santa Clarita Diet AU (Jonsa) Takes place in sunny southern California, where a shitty dinner at a mediocre restaurant turns into a huge problem for Jon and Sansa when Sansa's heart stops beating. Although she seems fine, Jon is flabbergasted several days later as he watches his wife- who alphabetizes their pantry and refuses to let anyone wear shoes in the house- rip the throat out of one of the sleazy new partners at their law firm, eating half of him before anyone processes what's going on. Hilarity ensues as Sansa's inhibitions and filter disappear, Arya ropes an extremely confused Gendry into helping figure out what the hell is going on just because he moderates the zombie forum on reddit, and Jon tries to deal with the fact that the woman he loves more than anything is now a humanitarian. He really could use a drink. (This one is actually mostly complete, but i need to refine a few things- i really love it. It's as gory and irreverent as the show, so viewer discretion advised, but it's a BLAST to write).
- A Thor/MCU AU (Jonsa, Steve Rogers/Sansa)- Asgardian prince Aegon is banished to Midgard after one too many arrogant decisions, and is promptly hit by a van containing Dr. Sansa Stark, Dr. Barristan Selmy, and Margaery Tyrell- two astrophysicists studying wormholes and Sansa's best friend and pseudo-intern. Marg yells at him, he yells back, Sansa tases him, and Barristan didn't sign up for the kind of heavy lifting that getting a 200+ pound slab of muscle into the back of a van takes. And then Aegon's younger brother, Jon, shows up, in the middle of an identity crisis because, apparently, he's adopted. He wasn't intending to stay, but he's rather drawn to Dr. Stark and her brilliance, and against her better judgement, she starts to trust him, and maybe even like him. This story is in about three parts so far- the first is based on 'Thor' and the second on 'The Avengers' and are fully Jonsa, and the third started as a family bonding story between the Stark kids and Tony (Ned and Tony are second cousins, and Ned was really supportive of Tony in rehab without expecting anything in return), and accidentally turned into a Steve Rogers/Sansa Stark story, which is a pairing i am HERE for. A lot of this one is written, but it needs some fill in before publishing, although it's one of my favorites that i've written to go back and actually read.
- A Star Wars AU (Jonsa) where Sansa and Arya are Alderaanian princesses who are off planet when Alderaan is destroyed- Sansa as a senator and Arya as a pilot, both working for the rebellion, and jon is a smuggler who does not know how all of these people got on his ship and why two princesses are sassing him. His copilot, Tormund (yes he's a wookie), thinks it is hilarious. I started this one just the other day, and it's already thirty pages long, most of them involving Sansa and Arya sassing people. Dany is a leader in the rebellion, Roose Bolton is the emperor, and Barbrey Dustin is a disgruntled former jedi trying to live in peace on a remote planet until another Stark crashes into her life and harangues her into teaching again.
- A witches/magic AU (Jonsa) where the Starks run an apothecary and spellcasting supplies shop. Jon had been completely in the dark about magic before his mother confessed to being born into a family of witches. He finds himself traveling to her hometown, trying to understand her world more clearly, and what it means for him. On the way, he develops something of a crush on the red-headed shop clerk who brews the best headache potions in town. Featuring lots of magical shenanigans, this is one of my favorites in the folder :)
- A 24 hour diner AU (Jonsa) where Jon is a local mob boss, and Sansa works the late shift at Seaworth's diner to buy textbooks for the PhD she's working on in botany. Sansa's running from memories, and Jon has a soft spot for the red-headed waitress who always remembers how he likes his coffee.
- An East of the Sun, West of the Moon AU!!! (Jonsa) This is one of my fav fairy tales, and of course i couldn't resist Jon as a direwolf striking a deal with the starks!
- A Roomates AU (Jonsa)- Arya, Jon, Tormund, and Sam have been renting the same house together off Winterfell's campus for years- but when Sam moves in with his girlfriend, they need one more person on the lease. Sansa, about to relocate to Winterfell for grad school, finds out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her and that her housing plans have fallen through, all on the same day. Needless to say, she's a bit upset when she calls Arya to relay the news. There's a simple solution here, if Arya and Tormund can stop teasing Jon about his crush for five minutes. (any excuse to write tormund and arya roasting jon, tbh).
- A Fae AU (Jonsa)- When Sansa, a baker living in the city, washes her face in an enchanted spring on a camping trip, she gains the sight as a result. Suddenly able to see the fae underworld all around her is disorienting and terrifying. Sansa tries to conceal it- afraid of what might happen if the fae around her know that she can see them- but slips up, and catches the attention of Jon Snow- one of the lords of the unseelie court.
- A nuclear winter wasteland AU (Jonsa)- (?? I don't even know how to describe this premise, haha) where the Starks are living and running the Free Winterfell settlement in Siberia after a worldwide nuclear meltdown. Before the fallout, Sansa was one of the world's preeminent researchers in plant genetics and pathology, and works at the settlement to create newer, disease and radiation resistant crops to distribute for free to other settlements, aiming to break up the monopoly that Lannister Corp has on the market. Jon is a scavenger, searching throughout Siberia for his sister Rhae who disappeared several years previously. When he runs across Arya Starkovna, helping her fight off another band of radiation ravaged scavengers is just instinct- he doesn't think twice about it. In thanks, she brings him to the Winterfell settlement, where her brother Robb offers Jon sanctuary and resources, in exchange for serving as a bodyguard for Sansa when she travels to other settlements. Sansa is not particularly thrilled by this arrangement, but given that multiple parties seem to want her dead, she doesn't have much of a choice but to accept his company.
- A reincarnation AU (Jonsa)- of sorts. Robb is an archaeologist who finds a strange set of runes at a site up north, and immediately calls in Jon Snow- a historian and expert in said ancient language, as well as an old university friend of Robb's. When he arrives though, Robb shows him their most valuable finds- two mysterious ice blocks, with what appear to be perfectly preserved bodies from over a thousand years ago. No one could ever have imagined that either of them were still alive, but when the ice melts, revealing two very alive girls, the entire crew is instantly buried in NDAs, and given an assignment from the Westerosi government to figure out what the hell was going on. Sansa and Arya wake up, extremely confused about the world they live in, trying to adapt and mourning all that they've lost, even as the people around them wear familiar faces.
- Soulmates AU (Jonsa)- (Yes, another one, I love this dumb trope) Trauma surgeon and medical resident Sansa Stark is having a very bad day, and ends up meeting her soulmate during what she thinks is a mugging gone wrong. Fortunately, he’s not the one mugging her, just an intervening bystander, but she ends up slightly shot nonetheless. Sansa’s fretting about bleeding on the upholstery in his car, but Jon is a bit more worried about her injuries than the blood stains. He’s a bit confused when she threatens him if he takes her to a specific hospital, nearly has a nervous breakdown when she insists on doing her own triage, and is very charmed when she insists on ice cream after taking pain meds at the hospital. On Sansa’s part, she’s a little less concerned about being shot, and a bit more concerned about whatever weird first impression she’s making to her soulmate while high as a kite on pain pills. (this one just needs some tweaking to be postable- I'm not sure if it's going to be a oneshot or a series, but i love what I have already)
- A Demon/Archivist AU (Jonsa)- where Sansa works in the university's historical archives in Oldtown, and is learning to restore old texts with her fellow student and friend, Alleras (Trans Sarella is an amazing concept). When Joffrey Baratheon shows up with a pile of old books from his family's library to donate, Sansa is eager to get away from his sleaze, and accidentally takes one of the books home with her in her rush to leave. Unbeknownst to her, it's more than it appears, and when she leaves it open overnight, she accidentally summons forth Jon- an ancient, powerful, and extremely annoyed demon who is under a curse, and now hers to command. As Jon and Sansa try to get used to this new normal, the Lannisters (unaware that Joffrey had donated the tome) try desperately to find the book and it's owner, wanting Jon's power for themselves, and putting Sansa in considerable danger unless she can figure out how to break Jon's curse. Fortunately, she's a pretty good researcher, even if Jon is initially a bit of a grump. (This is based on a total wish-fulfillment mary-sue type premise for something I wrote when I was thirteen, and I revisited it and wanted to see what it would look like if i took it very seriously, and i am really enjoying it so far. It's a love letter to the terrible, heartfelt writing i was doing in middle school that created the foundations for my writing today, and so much fun).
The one that I am MOST excited about though:
- A Pacific Rim AU!!!! (Ned/Cat, Gendrya, Braime, Sansa/Jon Umber)-Twins Sansa and Robb Stark have always been completely in tune with each other, and when your parents are Jaeger pilots and your mother invented the neural handshake, what option is there but the Jaeger academy? Sansa studies to be an engineer, but ends up copiloting the Jaeger 'Winter Wolf' with her twin brother, after they lose Ned Stark to cancer. When Robb is ripped out of the conn-pod and killed by a kaiju while he's still connected to Sansa, she barely manages to kill the creature before stumbling back to shore, traumatized, grieving, and swearing that she'll never pilot again.
Unfortunately, the Kaiju don't stop just because Sansa does, and when the end of the world is imminent, Marshall Catelyn Stark orders both her daughter and former pilot Jaime Lannister (who lost his twin and copilot, Cersei, several years previously) back to Hong Kong for one final stand. Forced to face both her demons and an irate Arya, furious that Sansa had abandoned the rest of them after Robb's death, Sansa and Arya have to figure out how to pilot Winter Wolf together before the apocalypse comes for them all.
Featuring Marshall Catelyn Stark (commander of the Hong Kong Shatterdome, inventor of the neural handshake, former Jaeger pilot, and BAMF), Sansa x Jon Umber (Yes i know it's a rare pair but i've always kind of loved the idea of them, even though we know so little about him), Kaiju parts dealer and smuggler Petyr Baelish, bickering kaiju biologist Dany and theoretical mathematician Jon Snow, LOCCENT officer Theon, lots of snark, lots of angst and heartfelt conversations, and a weird friendship between snarky-grieving-asshole Jaime Lannister and kind-quiet-grieving Sansa Stark, who are the only two people in the world who know what it's like to lose a copilot and a twin in the drift.
Thanks for reading guys!! There are more, but some of them I just don't know how to explain quite yet, haha. I'd love to hear what you guys think about these!

not to be that person but idk why everyone keeps behaving like sansa surviving KL and LF means she's smarter than every other stark like only court intrigues and politics require you to be smart?? and surviving amongst the smallfolk and assassins and night's watch and beyond the wall is all about brawn and physical strength??? that's so... classist lmfao, like surviving without revealing you're a highborn in a warzone, not starving to death, not being killed by soldiers/assassins/whatnot requires as much brains as surviving court politics. jon had to deal with politics at the NW and with Stannis. admittedly bran's story was doesn't at all in the show but he's about the only one who manages to explore his warging abilities fully it's not a piece of cake?? and arya had to escape KL, survive flea bottom, then harrenhal (under ROOSE BOLTON FFS) and the bwb and the red wedding AND get to braavos and survive the faceless men whoch is supposedly the leading assassin organization in asoiaf.
i'm not even getting into everything dany's done and survived lol. but okay samsa is the only genius in westeros, we know she is because tyrion says so i guess? not to mention show sansa's political "mentors" are possible the WORST examples of rulers we have - cersei and littlefinger. they didn't give 2 shits about ruling or the smallfolk or leadership, just about their own power. and i'd say that's important given how much time grrm spends showing us how the smallfolk suffer because of the games played by kings and queens.
this... actually requires a bit of going into it but like not counting that show sansa was a travesty and I'm choosing to not acknowledge it, and show lf was... I mean I'm not even going into how much it was a disservice to the og char whom I detest but honestly book!lf wouldn't marry sansa to anyone he didn't do research about lmfao but like not going into... those... plot holes.....
the entire point is that in the book sansa ends up under those two's tutelage anyway and... she's posed to do the contrary? what does she think looking at c.? that when she's queen she wants to be loved not feared, and like... being with lf is testing her morals but it's obvious that since she survived staying kind until now (I mean... again it's her leitmotiv she helped lancel & about everyone she could who was a jerk to her to the point it sent at least lancel into a faith crisis, she felt bad for joffrey like FOR FUCKING JOFFREY COME ON that's her selling point HER FUCKING SELLING POINT) then she'll just... gain enough political knowledge to outsmart people when she wants to but she won't use it to be a jerk she'll use it.. to.. help her family... when they're reunited which is p obvious to me but nvm
the thing is that people have decided to attach it to the underdog female character goes up the power ladder trope which.... like that's not it
also there's the part where like people are so caught up in the whole WHO HAS IT WORSE BETWEEN SANSA AND ARYA WHO IS THE BEST feud that... they don't notice that they have specular ways of dealing with trauma like arya is dealing with having to lose her identity/risking not knowing who she is anymore and she has to deal with increasing violence/ptsd-related trauma bc she's throw in the middle of everything bad she could end up in like she was almost in the red wedding I was 90% sure she also died until I saw she had a chapter after, while sansa has managed to dodge courtly poisons by being herself and by not letting it change who she is which tyrion noticed which everyone noticed which is why guess what tyrion is willing to stand up to his father and tell him no when it comes to actually having sex with her when he couldn't for the marriage and she's the only person that managed to get past sandor's trauma issues enough that he tried to actually help her for what he could, like... arya has de-personalization to overcome, sansa is holding to her guns by staying herself and she has to learn what good she can from lf before ditching him and keeping on staying herself like it's fucking specular it's not supposed to be a game of who has it worse
(wish ppl would get it also with jaime and tyrion and their coping with trauma but nvm)
the fact that ppl downplay that jon isn't politically an idiot at all irks me forever but like... bruh the dude handled being lord commander, an entire siege when he was like seventeen and was hobbling around on crutches, managed to infiltrate the wildlings without anyone finding out (and it traumatized the shit out of him but nvm) and if only he was good at PR he wouldn't have gotten juliuscaesared, like... okay X°DDD
I mean... yes it's classist but that's a dead horse to beat, if people actually took that angle into account they wouldn't write off brienne or davos chapters as BORING if only bc they're the only ones where you see how not-nobles are doing as in badly X°D
anyway like all stark kids have enough smarts to survive their storylines and robb had to be taken out with a betrayal so he wasn't being that stupid either differently from what my villain origin story thinks but again as someone said once if you hate a stark kid to prop up your fave your fave most likely would hate you so that's my stance X°D
but like... the point is that sansa was shown to gaf about others/the smallfolk/people lower than her in the food chain which dnd/half of this fandom didn't get which is why she'll be an excellent regent for bran and I'm dying on that hill but again this entire thing where you have to pit your fave against everyone else to show how much more badass/smarter they are is imvho a useless exercise because then I'll cut the gordian knot and say that if gilly managed to survive at least seventeen years with her father in that context knowing that her mother was also her sister and that she'd get the same treatment and if she had male children they'd get put out in the open and killed and then was forced to swap her own baby for another without knowing if that baby was going to die or not and she still had it in herself to not turn into a complete asshole she wins for toughest survivor in westeros at least out of the girls unless we want jeynep to give her a run for her money because like... going from lf to ramsay and not as a protegé and considering she was afraid ramsay was going to sic dogs on her when they saved her I think we can maybe ger some perspective here X°DDDD
(I'm not even going into the guys because honestly there's an amount of trauma that's not quantifiable in there X°DD)
like...... again everyone has it bad in these books and propping up your fave making the others look bad makes no sense bc if you love your fave then you have reasons to and you don't need to compare them to others to make them look as good as you think they are and that's my hill to die on X°D

This take that Dany killing the slavers was actually a horrible thing is racist bullshit. This “two wrongs don’t make a right” logic you idiots use is so fucking irritating. Go tell the Haitians that they’re ancestors were horrible people for rebelling and killing the people that had enslaved them and their families. And then go take a round trip around the rest of the African diaspora. And this argument that what she did was bad because it left the slaves impoverished is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard in my life. I can guarantee you that being poor is a sure step up from being enslaved. You may not own much or anything as a poor person, but you don’t even own your own body as a slave. Then you guys say Dany’s crazy because she watched her older brother die without much reaction. The older brother that spent most of her life abusing her and had just threatened to kill her and her unborn child? That brother? Wtf are you people smoking? As an abuse victim myself, I’m here to tell you that Dany’s reaction was pretty fucking tame - I would’ve asked if I could be the one to pour the damn gold. She brought up him not being a real dragon, because not only was she pretty much immune to heat(show), but he use to say “don’t wake the dragon” as a way to keep her in line. And did anyone else ever stop to consider that she might’ve been in shock? The most powerful figure in her life since birth and her only family had just threatened to kill her and been killed as a result. Also, Dany was not mad at the end. Y’all cite paranoia but I truly don’t believe Dany was paranoid. Why? BECAUSE EVERYTHING SHE SAID WOULD HAPPEN WAS HAPPENING IN REAL TIME AND SHE FUCKING KNEW IT! Varys had been trying to poison her for weeks, Sansa was plotting against her. It’s amazing how quickly they hyped up Jon’s headass for doing a fraction of what she’d been doing for years. Also, it is within her rights to accept or deny a plea of surrender. She decided not to do so. Was Aegon crazy for burning down Harrenhal? The field of fire? Was Tywin crazy for sacking King’s Landing or for the Rains of Castamere? Was Arya crazy for baking Walder Frey’s two sons into pies and feeding it to him? Was Sansa crazy for feeding Ramsay to his dogs(spot the double standard between Sansa’s manner of dealing with her abuser of little more than a year, and Dany’s reaction to her lifelong abuser being killed). I don’t think Dany really cared that the ppl didn’t like her, the ppl of Westeros were just as shackled as the ppl in Slaver’s Bay had been. They just had shackles of silk and gold as opposed to iron. She knew she would be met with resistance but she was willing to deal with it for the ppl. And yeah I trust Dany because she spent the majority of her life being a poor beggar and was sold as a slave. And then ppl talk about her arrogance bringing her “overly large army” to the north. What?!?! They begged her to bring her army north to help them fight the white walkers, and Sansa had the nerve to be iffy and talk about how they couldn’t feed them. And let’s please remember that the majority of the people who died in the war against the others were from her army. They died for a bunch of rude ass ungrateful northerners. Then ppl say she didn’t have to kill the Tarlys. Yes she did. Randyll wouldn’t take the black because he said she didn’t have the authority to make him do so. Was she suppose to let a RENOWNED military commander go back to her enemies and plot their next move? Not to mention he turned on his liege lord - Olenna. Was she just suppose to forget he betrayed and killed her ally? The death by dragonfire being inhumane argument is absolute bullshit. Death by dragonfire is a traditional mode of execution, and it was employed all over the known world at different points in time(Valyrians as a whole in Essos and then the Targs in Westeros). The dragons are weapons of war and everyone knows this. They might’ve left for a while, but people’s reaction to her using them in this manner wouldn’t be shock. They grew up on stories of the Targ’s conquest and various exploits.

The Expanse and GOT Spoilers.
I have been doing The Expanse re-watch to prepare for the best season ever - season 5 - starting on the 16th. And the writing is so good, even for the secondary characters and their relationships. I can’t help but compare it to the garbage writing on the more popular Game of Thrones.
Watching season 3, and the character dynamics between Camina Drummer and Klaes Ashford is what I think Benioff and Weiss wanted between Jon Snow and Sansa Stark in seasons 6 and 7. There is a tug of war for power and leadership between Drummer and Ashford and the same holds true for Jon and Sansa. Scene for scene there are parallels of the conflict between the characters on both shows.
But context matters. Drummer and Ashford actually work because she’s the new, younger leader in charge of the Behemoth and Ashford is the older, more experienced leader who thinks he should lead because of his experience. On the other hand, it does not work at all with Jon and Sansa. In their case, Jon is the older, more experienced and knowledgeable leader and Sansa is the younger sibling trying to make the case that she knows better than him and therefore should be the one making the decisions.
The Expanse actually lays out and explores in detail the conflict between Drummer and Ashford. They spar and argue with witty dialogue and good delivery of lines that makes the case for both of them. Each character knows and is clear about where the other character stands. They know what the other character is trying to do. That makes their scenes exciting and interesting to watch.
Ashford: Camina, you have nothing to worry about from me. I am here to be your first officer and I have no problem with that.
Drummer: You believe you should be in command.
Ashford: Ah, of course I do, but this is not about experience. It's about politics and perception.  Fred has Protomolecule, Dawes has Cortazar, and they both need this ship.  And neither one of them cares if you or I are happy with the arrangement.
Drummer: Ah, finally, some truth.
Ashford: I haven't lied to you...
Drummer: Yet...
Ashford: But my point is that we both have orders to follow, which means we have to work together. For the good of the new Belter state, ke?
We never get a similar scene or confrontation between Jon and Sansa. Sansa hides information about her Vale army from Jon so that she could get the credit of the victory, leading to the needless deaths of thousands. And Jon just shrugs it off with a kiss on the forehead. Imagine if we got a game of thrones in Winterfell between Jon and Sansa - like we got between Tyrion and Cersei in KL? Where both characters know what the other is trying to do and try to outwit each other? But D&D never really committed to what they wanted Sansa to be on the show and their Jon was written as a gullible fool and so we got scenes that made no sense.
Remember when Sansa undermined Jon in front of the other houses and later Arya observes that Sansa was trying to get the Lords on her side rather than Jon’s. Again, the show hesitates to commit to what Sansa is doing. Jon is made out to be the bad guy for requesting that Sansa not undermine him and Arya comes off as being the mean sister for pointing out that Sansa is not supporting her brother.
Meanwhile, on The Expanse, we clearly see what Ashford is doing and so can Drummer.
Sansa wants to punish the children of the traitors. Jon wants to pardon them and give them back their lands. Drummer wants to throw the drug dealers out of the airlock. Ashford disagrees. He asks for a private word with Drummer and orders their audience to step back - he then persuades Drummer to change her mind but it’s clear to the people watching that he made the decision. Both the audience and Drummer can see that Ashford is indeed undermining Drummer here, but he’s more sly about it.
They have several such arguments. Ashford questions Drummer’s decisions within hearing of their men. Ashford wants them to hear his disagreements.
Ashford: Oh, and it's just too bad we don't have our chief engineer to build us some probes.
Drummer: You have something to say?
Ashford: Yeah, I said it. We needed Nagata here, and you let her go.
Drummer: This isn't a slave ship.
Ashford: No, it's a warship. The Belt's first and only.
Drummer: And I'm its captain.
Ashford: Yeah. Yeah, you are.
Drummer: We have a few autonomous farm drones with chemical samplers for soil. We can convert those into probes. A captain must know their ship.  Hmm?
Later one of those men approaches Ashford. He trash talks Drummer to Ashford and insinuates that Ashford should take over.
Diego: Bossmang...
Ashford: Yeah, what's up? What's the problem, Harari?
Diego: I na like da ting Drummer say to you... or how she say it.
Ashford: Uh... a captain can run their ship however they choose to.
Diego: Captain should be you.
Ashford: Tread carefully, good my boy.
Diego: You been bossmang from da time before me or half the Beltalowda on this ship was born.
Ashford: Yeah, that's true. I have. And I've drunk real Earth whiskey out of a UN Admiral's mug and then scuttled her ship. I flew dark past a Martian battle group, and they never even knew I was there. And I've seen friends breathe the vacuum and watched my only child burn. So when I tell you to tread carefully, you would do well to stop talking.
This scene parallels the Northern lords saying that they should have made Sansa queen instead of Jon. Sansa listens to their complaints and then says that Jon is their king and they can only do what he says. We see Arya observing this and later confronts Sansa in a scene where Arya comes off as being unnecessarily harsh and wrong. I am not going back and watching this trash, but if I recall, Arya actually gets angry at Sansa’s fashion choices here! Like why? What does that have to do with anything? What does that have to do with Sansa trying to win favor from the Northern lords while not supporting Jon’s decisions as king? Again, the show never commits to exploring Sansa’s decisions here.
But Drummer knows what Ashford is doing. She’s clever.
Ashford: I understand why you let Nagata go. If I had a chief engineer who didn't want to be here, I wouldn't want them around, either. But she was your friend.
Drummer: She is my friend.
Ashford: No, I always treated my friends harder... harsher, to show the crew I wasn't playing favorites... even if I was.
Drummer: You just can't stop giving me advice, can you?
Ashford: I'm trying to help you.
Drummer: Yet, still you call me out in front of the crew.
Ashford: Yeah, I could've done that better.
Drummer: You did what you meant. You put it in everyone's head. And after I left, I bet you were all praise for me, yeah? How important it is to respect the captain and so on. That way, when the turn come and you take over, they all know it was because you had to. No choice.
Ashford: Oh, we have a problem. And we need to work it out.
Drummer: Or else what?
Oh, how I wish we got this sort of confrontation, conversation, a similar scene between Jon and Sansa after he got back to Winterfell.
And the beautiful thing about Drummer and Ashford is that we can actually see where they are both coming from. They are both looking out for their people, they both want to do right by the belt. The older, more experienced Ashford thinks he should be in charge and knows better than the young whippersnapper Drummer. Smart Drummer is actually capable of being a good leader and can see through what Ashford is trying to do. They end up helping each other. And in the end, Drummer turns out to be right, Ashford acknowledges this and in the next season they work together.
In GOT however, we are just supposed to accept that Sansa is right, despite Jon making the right decisions to tackle the problems facing them. Sansa’s actions are never challenged by anyone. Jon just floats around like a gullible fool and Arya’s real issues with Sansa in season 7 are never again mentioned. And because there is no resolution to the conflicts and drama, in season 8 we get Arya suddenly and inexplicably thinking that Sansa is the smartest ever, Jon continuing to trust the person who lied to him and undermined him and Sansa continues to win despite being wrong about everything.
Drummer and Ashford are secondary characters in The Expanse and yet their character dynamics, the conflict, the resolution is all so well written and played out. Meanwhile, Jon, Sansa, Arya and Bran are all main characters and Littlefinger is a main antagonist and yet that whole story in seasons 6 and 7 was so badly written and nonsensical that it’s absolute trash. Ultimately Benioff and Weiss did not know what they wanted Sansa to be - they wrote her one way, did not want to commit to the character they wrote, and wanted the other characters (and audience) to see her another way.
It’s clear that the writers and showrunners of The Expanse are invested in their characters and good storytelling. And that’s why it’s a far more enjoyable and entertaining show with likeable characters than GOT.

Yours Before I Knew
Again, since we’ve got some lovely new Jonsa-themed headers for WIP Wednesday, I’m dusting off some old drafts to share some things.  I can still call it a work in progress even if I’ve only completed two chapters in a year, right? *sighs*  (You can find the lovely Canon-themed headers here if you want to use one)
This is a Rhaegar Won/Arranged Marriage AU that I’ve been wanting to write for ages but am easily distracted from and it may never see the light of day on ao3 so here’s the first two chapters in case anyone wants to see what I’ve got.  Fair warning, it’s all set up for Jon and Sansa marrying with a side of scheming so probably pretty dull :(
****
Chapter 1-ELIA
The queen sucked on an orange wedge relishing the sunshine as the clacking of wooden swords silenced the morning songbirds.  She did not mind that.  All her life, she’d known the sounds of boys and men training every morning.
The stone walls of her little courtyard had been baking in the sun since it rose three hours earlier. Touching those walls might lead to a burnt hand now.  But Elia would not touch them.  She was content to enjoy the radiated warmth of them as she broke her fast and watched the boys, her son…and Lyanna’s.
Not everyone loves the sun as the Dornish do and the Sun does not love everyone.
The Dornish had been infuriated with her husband of course, none more than her brothers, but they had stayed true to the Iron Throne.  When Robert’s Rebellion had ended with the usurper’s death outside the city walls, they had remained Rhaegar’s subjects though silently sullen over the insult he had done their princess.
Heeding the advice of others, Rhaegar had chosen to avoid single combat with Robert Baratheon and instead made overtures to Tywin Lannister, appealing to the man whose ego his father had wounded more than once with promises of a better reign in the future.
And despite his melancholic outlook in general, her husband chose not to dwell overly long on his part in his father’s removal from the throne nor the circumstances surrounding his death.  Lord Tywin’s men had done all the dirty work for their new king and the unpleasantness had been swept away like filthy rushes to be replaced with fresh, sweet ones.
But not everything had been forgotten and not everything had been swept out the door either.
“Do you yield?” she heard Aegon cry, an edge of triumph in his childish voice.
“Nay!”
Elia scowled and continuing sucking on her orange wedge.  The boy was stubborn.  Aegon was a year older.  He was taller and a bit broader.  But Aemon would not yield until he was on the ground and pinned, usually with Aegon shoving his face into the stones if the master-at-arms did not stop them quick enough. Always determined to prove himself, Aemon fought like a wolf.  No doubt the stigma surrounding his birth and his questionable place at Court plagued him.
Like a wolf. Elia smiled despite herself.  That was what he was.  He is no true dragon.
“That’s good, Jon!” the master-at-arms said as the tempo of the clacking wooden swords increased.
Jon.  He preferred to be called Jon.  It was the name his uncle had given him when he’d taken the child and his sister’s bones out of Dorne before he’d learned of his friend’s death.
Lord Stark had been spared by Rhaegar.  Some whispered that he should’ve met a traitor’s end but their shared grief over Lyanna had stayed her husband’s hand.  Elia did not object to it though she would’ve thought Rhaegar might’ve stripped him of his title and lands at least.  However, the Northman had been allowed to return to his frozen forests, grateful to be reunited with his wife and young son.  He’d only been south of the Neck once since the end of the war.
Rhaegar had permitted the boy to be fostered in Winterfell as a babe before sending for him when he was six.  “The North is in his blood.  It is where he will fight his greatest battles…and where he will die someday perhaps,” her husband had once said.  Rhaegar’s obsession with prophecy had only grown with the passing of years.
The North was a place that held little interest for Elia but she was aware of their own discontented murmurs.  Nevertheless, Lord Stark had kept the vast kingdom under control and helped stop Balon Greyjoy’s ill-fated rebellion recently even though many of the Northmen held no love of the Crown.  And why should they?  Aerys had killed Lord Eddard’s father and brother after Rhaegar had made off with the Stark girl inciting the rebellion to begin with.
The fact that Rhaegar had married Lyanna in a secret ceremony, pressuring the High Septon to allow the practice of polygamy as the Targaryens of old had, had not tempered their displeasure.  Most did not believe Rhaegar’s talk of prophesies or Aemon’s potential role in some war to come but no one said as much to the king.
“My lady?  May I join you?”
She tilted her head in acquiescence.  “Have you come to watch them?” she asked once Rhaegar had taken a seat and kissed her hand, his courtly manners undimmed despite the strained state of their marriage.
He looked towards the courtyard for a handful of seconds, watching the battle below with an indifference she couldn’t understand.  “I’ve spent my morning closeted with the Hand arranging betrothals.”
“Whose?”
“The children’s, both mine and my father’s.”
Elia swallowed her disquiet and brushed her hands along her silk skirts.  “Did Viserys have objections?”
“Objections to Arianne? Why would he?  And it was agreed to long ago.”
“And Daenerys will marry Quentyn?”
“She will.”
“Doran will be pleased.”
He hummed softly in response.  She knew the young princess’s opinion would not be sought.  Elia felt sorry for the girl and her own daughter but it wasn’t as if she’d been given any choice in the matter of her own match.  It was the lot of all highborn girls whether they carried the title of lady or princess.  And besides, Quentyn is a sweet boy.
“And who are our children to marry?”
“Rhaenys will marry Willas Tyrell.”
“You’d marry my daughter to a Tyrell?” she asked sharply, her earlier acceptance of the fate of highborn girls quite forgotten.
“The enmity between your family’s house and the Tyrells should end.  Willas bears no ill will towards your brother nor Oberyn towards him. It’s time the rest of you follow suit.”
Elia bowed her head, knowing that any argument would be fruitless.  Rhaegar was not his father but he would not be talked out of a decision easily either.
“And Aegon?  Who is to be his queen?”
“I had thought to heal another breach.  The North is vast and anger lingers there.”
She could not be silent on this.  “You will not marry my son into her family!”
Rhaegar’s eyes moved from the boys below to his wife, that strange distance in him so visible.  If he was blood and fire, why were his looks always so cold?  She contained a shiver but dropped her eyes.  She rarely spoke so heatedly towards him.  Her rages would do her no more good than her sweetness in this case regardless, she feared.
“I had thought to. I’ve decided differently.  Tywin has been a faithful servant and Cersei serves you well.”
Tywin had decidedly differently is what that meant.  And Cersei...  “She hates me.”
“Nonsense.”
“You see her beauty and her smiles.  You do not see her contempt.  You do not hear her barbed words.”  You only see what you wish to when you bed her, the wife of your best friend. She would not dare speak those words.
“She won’t be marrying Aegon, her daughter will.”
“Myrcella?”
“Yes.”
“She’s only three.”
“He’s only eleven. They’ll marry after she flowers.” He softened marginally.  “It is only a betrothal, my lady.  If things change, things change,” he shrugged.
She stewed over that before asking about Rhaegar’s third child.  “And Aemon?”
“It is my hope that match will end the rumbling in the North.  He will marry his uncle’s daughter, the eldest girl.”
“Lady Sansa?”
“Um…yes, that’s her name.”
Did he know it to begin with? she wondered.  No matter. This arrangement did not matter to her. It suited her.  She’d have Lannisters and Tyrells as her children’s good-parents.  Wasn’t that enough to worry over?
Who cared if Aemon, or Jon as he preferred, went North someday?  It wasn’t that she disliked him.  It was just that he was a constant reminder of things that Elia would rather forget. He’d go North and marry the Stark girl. Maybe she’d never see Lyanna’s son again if he did.
But Rhaegar had other plans as always, it would seem.
“Aemon will marry Sansa Stark once they’re of age, get an heir by her and then…we’ll see where I need him most.”
“Where you need him most? I don’t understand.”
Rhaegar did not answer.
“Well done!  Well fought, boys!” the master-at-arms cried a moment later.
Elia’s expectant smile curdled when she saw Aegon clutching his hand, his wooden sword on the stones at his feet and Aemon doing a poor job of hiding his delight.  The North could have Lyanna’s son.  She could not say she’d miss him here.
  Chapter 2-JAIME
Ser Jaime Lannister of the Nights Watch strolled along the corridors of the Red Keep towards the chambers occupied by his twin sister Cersei.  He caught his reflection in a mirrored panel.  He didn’t look half bad in black.  He felt no more soiled in it than he had in his white cloak.
Due to his father’s role in winning Rhaegar his crown, Jaime had not been beheaded for his own rather hands-on part in seeing an end to Aerys’ regime but he had been discharged from the Kingsguard and sent to the Nights Watch for killing his king.
He hadn’t stayed there very long.
It was cold and inhospitable and his fellow brothers in black had all loathed him.  He hadn’t gone out of his way to make any friends there to be honest.  They were all beneath him, none could hold a candle to him with sword or lance and the North was clearly not for him.
So, when Lord Commander Mormont had been lamenting the lack of able-bodied recruits to fill their numbers and man the Wall, Ser Jaime had graciously offered to go South to the king and his father the Hand and see to it a regular supply of warm bodies were sent the Lord Commander’s way.  It didn’t matter that most of them were the excrement of the lowest pothouses or the ague-ridden sweepings of dungeons, Jaime knew Mormont would take them, desperate as he was.  And so long as the recruits kept arriving, Mormont did not recall Ser Jaime to his post. That suited Lord Tywin and, since Jaime avoided making a nuisance of himself around Rhaegar, it seemed the king was content for him to remain and ignored him for the most part.
He gave me a life sentence meant to humble me for killing his father but knew it was necessary if he was ever going to ascend to the throne himself.  Besides, he’d have no city to rule from if not for me.
He had fallen into a little place here at Court.  He competed in tourneys here and there, not enough to draw too much attention to himself though.  Mostly, he assisted the master-at-arms in drilling young guards as well as the young princes.  Occasionally, the Small Council would ask him questions about the Watch.  He was as ignorant as most of them but he spoke the words he thought they wanted to hear given the current mood.
It was infinitely preferable to stalking along the top of the Wall or overseeing the digging of new latrines in the frozen shit hole that was Castle Black.  He wasn’t even sure what the Nights Watch’s purpose was anymore. The ragamuffin Wildlings who made it over the Wall once in a while weren’t any true threat to the Seven Kingdoms and it’s not like that could all breach the 700 foot edifice in their way.
As for his pupils, Viserys was quite hopeless and Jaime had been glad to see the back of him when he’d left for Dragonstone a couple of years earlier.  Aegon and Aemon, or Jon as the boy preferred, had some promise though, the younger boy more than the older.
His twin sister Cersei was at Court as well, one of the Queen’s ladies, while his father had chosen to leave Tyrion behind at Casterly Rock, out of sight and out of mind.
He rapped upon his sister’s door and entered when a maid answered.  Cersei stood before a mirror adjusting the emerald green gown encrusted with gold she wore which highlighted the eyes which matched his own, whilst her golden hair shone in the sunlight.
“What do you want?” she asked irritably as her maid clasped a great diamond and onyx necklace around her throat.
You, he mouthed, earning him a scowl.  Theirs was not a typical brother-sister relationship to say the least.
“Connington’s here,” she said in a conversational tone next.  “His ship arrived in the harbor last night.”
Her husband, Lord Jon Connington, was one of Cersei’s least favorite people to see.  Gratefully, he spent most of his time in his castle while his wife spent most of her time at court.
Only five years older than the bride he’d been gifted as a reward for his faithful services during the rebellion, Connington appeared a withered old man when stood next to Cersei these days.  Jaime highly suspected she was slowly poisoning him…or having someone do it for her.  He honestly didn’t care if it was so.  The oaf did not deserve Cersei.  A good thing the children weren’t his.
“And did you entertain your husband when he arrived last night?” Jaime asked mockingly, his gloved hand tracing her pale throat when the maid was dismissed at last.
“There was no need. He was eager to spend as much time as possible with the king.”  Connington would rather lick the king’s boots than his wife’s teats.  That suited Jaime just fine.
“And who was the king eager to see last night?” he whispered in her ear, the hand at her throat squeezing ever so slightly.
She jerked her chin and stepped away from his touch.  Jaime clenched his fist and told himself it didn’t matter.  The children weren’t Rhaegar’s either.
Saying no to Rhaegar after carefully flirting and teasing her way into an affair with him would be foolish though.  Cersei had her reasons, no doubt.  Regardless, she was still his.  She was part of him.  She would always be his in a way the others never could be, not her husband who she spent less than fifteen minutes at a time in the company of if she could help it and not her current and practically acknowledged lover, the king.
Deciding he didn’t wish to quarrel today, he asked after her children.  My children.
“Myrcella will be queen someday.  Father has arranged it,” she told him, clearly pleased.
He nodded.  It was neither here nor there to him.  Cersei had warned him not to get too close, not to appear too doting so as not the raise any awkward questions and he’d followed her lead.  He hoped Myrcella would be treated well by Aegon but that was the extent of his interest. They were only little children for now.
“That will be something…for you to be the mother of the queen.”
A dangerous glint appeared in her eyes as a cold smile formed upon her crimson lips.  “Yes, the mother of the queen might be enough for some.”
The door burst open a moment later.  “My lady! The Queen!” the maid from earlier gasped.
“Oh, dear.  Whatever is the matter?” Cersei asked, the sweet concern in her tone not fooling Jaime for an instant.  “Forgive me, brother.  I must go to her,” she said once all had been relayed, a sudden pain in the stomach and the queen had vomited blood after breaking her fast.
“Of course, sister,” he bowed.  “You are one of her ladies.  You must attend her.”
And I will follow you.
Outside Queen Elia’s chambers though, he was halted by the youngest member of the kingsguard. Cersei hastened within and he took up a post of sorts opposite the knight, Ser Garlan Tyrell.
“Has the king been notified?”
“He has, Ser Jaime. He’s expected to arrive soon.”
The pounding of feet soon met their ears but it was not the king rushing to his wife’s side.  It was her children and the king’s other son.
“Let me by, Ser Garlan!” Princess Rhaenys shouted, her dark curls bouncing as she stood.  The knight bowed and stood aside as the princess and her younger brother headed in.  But before Jon could pass the threshold, Rhaenys rounded on him.  “Not you!” she hissed.  “She won’t want to see you!”
The boy’s crestfallen expression was quickly hidden by a jerky nod.  He would not be wanted by any of them.  It shouldn’t surprise him.  He really shouldn’t allow it to wound him by this point and yet it was plain it always did. Jaime might almost feel sorry for him…if he was much given to sympathy for others outside of himself and Cersei.
“Come along, my prince,” Jaime said affably, putting an arm around the boy’s shoulders to guide him away. Out of sight, out of mind. They looked nothing alike but Jon always reminded Jaime a bit of Tyrion, a motherless boy, unwanted and unloved by most everyone.  Jaime had an undeniable soft spot for his little brother so maybe he had a touch of one for this boy as well.  “It’s been a fortnight since I’ve seen you practice with your lance.  You can’t be a knight if you never master it, you know.”
“Yes, Ser Jaime,” Jon said, looking back over his shoulder once before he allowed himself to be led outdoors.
All morning, he drilled Jon in the lance and then swords.  He was getting quite good…for a boy of ten.
When the bells began to toll, they had just stopped to sup on roasted hen, shallots and crusty bread.
“What are the bells ringing for?” the boy asked.
“You know, don’t you, Jon?”
The queen was dead.
Those dark grey eyes widened and the long pale face grew paler.  He looked remarkably like a Stark to Jaime.  There was little of Rhaegar in him.
A member of the kingsguard came to share the news as night fell.  The king was said to be in seclusion and Elia’s children were with their attendants.  No one came for Jon so Jaime sat with him.  The boy cried bitter tears for the step-mother who had never loved him but never treated him unkindly either.
Jaime allowed him a second cup of wine and soon the child was dozing in a corner while Jaime wondered how his fair sister was managing her performance, the aggrieved courtier and friend, so concerned for the welfare of Elia’s children whilst maneuvering and plotting for the day she might be Rhaegar’s queen.
Mother of the queen might be enough for some…but not Cersei.

Scorp you're a genius! So relatable and I love how you don't judge others or anyone who comes to you for help. Keep it up! I just had to ask since I see that you make pop culture references to make analogies with astrology. You've mentioned GoT a few times and im a huge fan! Can you do a quick post on Game of Thrones characters and their potential zodiac signs? I'd love to hear your input! Thank you so much!!
Game of Thrones Characters & Their Zodiac Signs
Aries
Khal Drogo- Impulsive. Warlike. Bloodthirsty. Alpha. Conqueror. Hardcore athlete [did you see him on that horse?] Extremely sexual. Forceful. When he first meets Daenerys, he forces himself on her. Afterward, however, he is the first to go to war if he feels the people around him have been disrespected.
Aerys Targaryen- Impulsive, sadistic. Boastful. imperial. He would be the Emperor [reversed] in Tarot, lol. Not as good with being a tactician as he ought to have been. Cruel. Rage problems. The need to be the first and the best. Fire and blood, anyone?
Taurus
Maergery Tyrell - Classy, wealthy, sexy, laid-back, frank but with an air of elegance. Highgardeners have a love for the finer things in life. A love of fine wines and foods. Beautiful clothing and aesthetics. RICH RICH. Get on their bad side and they will take their time finding a way to subvert your authority.
Robert Baratheon- Love of luxury, bullheaded, strong, takes no shit. Fixed in his opinions of others, highkey jealous. In his youth, he enjoyed the gifts of Venus: Charm, wealth coming from the noble house of Baratheon, widely considered handsome by almost all in the 7 kingdoms.
Gemini
Tyrion Lannister- Silver-tongued. HIGHKEY intelligent. Social. Charming. Great sense of humor. A freak [in the sheets]. Chatty. Always finds his way out of a sticky situation. Finds a way to use his intel to bolster diplomacy between his family and the families who hate them.
Little Finger- Cunning, quick-witted, works behind the scenes, manipulative, a  snake, jack of all trades. Top dog in the social circles of the 7 Kingdoms. There wasn’t a person who didn’t know of him and his... reputation. He singlehandedly, through his Machiavellian tactics, caused the events of Game of Thrones to unfold.
Cancer
Cersei Lannister- Protective, moody, caring [to her kids], motherly, cantankerous, jealous. A savage. People don’t give Cancer’s the credit they deserve in terms of what they’re capable of. Cersei is a prime example of the type of person who can show unrivaled levels of devotion to the one’s they love. “No one matters but us.” She can be cruel because she lets her emotions rule her actions. When her safety is threatened, she makes sure no one else feels safe either. She loves with a ferocity only rivaled by...
Catelyn Stark- Another mother who would die [quite literally] for her children. Fierce, Protective. Doting. JEALOUS. Let’s not forget how she treated Jon all because she believed Ned’s lie about him being a bastard. Followed her son into battle. Damn near lost her hands fighting off Bran’s would-be assassin.
Leo
Jaime Lannister- Proud. Handsome. Princely. Funny. We seem him go from underdeveloped Leo [arrogant, selfish, bully, prideful, snob, loyal to no one but himself] to developed [Kind, helpful, warm, honest]. Fought bears for his friends. Skilled and proud fighter even without the use of both his hands. Unfortunately, his loyalty caused him to stay loyal to his twin towards the end, but such is the nature of a Leo. They’re hard-pressed to abandon those they truly care for.
Brienne of Tarth- LOYAL. Proud. Devoted. A bit of a flare for drama especially brandishing her sword. Brienne is the definition of Leonine traits. Hard to miss. Devoted to those who show her kindness, i.e Renly, Catelyn, Jaime, Sansa, etc. Always at the front lines in war screaming “STAND YOUR GROUND”. Unrivaled levels of bravery and courage. Not to be fucked with. A true Queen.
Virgo
Samwell Tarley- Intelligent. Scholarly. Methodical. Always with his nose in a book. Unproblematic king. Caught the things everyone else missed, especially when he was an apprentice in Old Towne. Figured out how to cure Jorah Mormont’s affliction on his OWN without any formal training. Genius.
Lord Varys- Remember, Virgo is also ruled by Mercury who is the most cunning of the planetary rulers. Varys always had a spy to collect intel on everyone. A tactician. Never lost his temper. Always had the scoop but didn’t partake in gossip for gossip's sake. Not afraid to be critical or tell those “in charge” his opinion. We can see this specifically when he critiques Aerys, Daenerys, and Robert.
Libra
Davos Seaworth- a skilled diplomat. Davos is always seen seeking balance and fairness in the situations he finds himself in. The minute you see this man in a scene you know he’s going to give a moving speech and get someone out fo a sticky situation. He convinced the Iron Bank to support Stannis. Convinced Daenerys to entertain Jon Snow when they traveled to Dragonstone. Always breaking up a fight. He is in full support of law and order, especially when he called for Melisandre’s head after discovering her part in Shireen’s death [RIP.]
Rhaegar Targaryen- Had a love of music. Harmony. Balance. He brought two families together [Stark and Targaryen]. He was also blessed by Venus in my opinion because he was said to be extremely handsome. A fabulous singer. A fighter yes, but a lover first. Very good with diplomacy but not the best with defending himself against his cousin sign, Taurus [Robert Baratheon].
Scorpio
Daenerys Targaryen- Many see her as an Aries but I have to respectfully disagree. Daenerys is a Scorpio in my opinion. Remember, Scorpio is honorary fire. She was literally “reborn from the ashes”. A Phoenix, Scorpio’s final form. She went from a silent and meek girl to a skilled and commanding Empress. Unlike Arians, she did not jump headfirst into battle. It took many arrows in her dragons, many slights to her ego, copious council from her advisors, dozens of her loved ones lost for her to go nuclear. Like her father, she hungered for power, a very Scorpionic trait. However she, unlike her father, listened to reason [Jorah, Tyrion, and Barristan Selmy]. She had a long fuse until she didn’t, and then that’s when she rained fire and blood on everyone in King’s Landing. She was skilled at retribution and was unapologetic with it *cough* the Tarleys *cough*.. Unlike Arians who pop off at the drop of a hat, she gave her enemies fair warning if/when they crossed her.
Arya Stark- You already know what it is with this one. Arya is pretty much death [Pluto], personified. Stealthy. A tactician. VENGEFUL. I think we all fist-pumped when she served Filch Walder Frey his sons in that pie. Never forgets a slight. Keeps a list of people who’ve wronged her [All Scorpios can probably relate]. You never see her coming. She is “no-one”. She is the assassin that slips through the back. She may seem calm at first but trust that she has been planning your downfall for a while. LOYAL. The definition of a Scorpio.
Melisandre- Dark. Mysterious. Unafraid of the occult. So much of her life is unknown and I’m sure that’s how she preferred it. Even her Lord of light was mysterious. Strong supernatural abilities and highkey psychic. Knew immediately how many “eyes” Arya would “close.” Had ties to the underworld which is demonstrated with her ability to resurrect the dead. Came through at the clutch in the last battle wielding fire [Mars] with her witchcraft. It’s no secret that Scorpios are some of the most skilled in sorcery.
Sagittarius
Missandei- Exotic. From Naath which is an island just above the mysterious continent of Sothoryos. A world traveler. Lucky enough to escape slavery [until the end]. Jupiter's influence is here in my opinion because she is so kind and friendly. Also a polyglot and gifted with the ability to speak 19 languages. Her fire is seen at the end of the series when she tells her best friend “Dracarys”-- meaning “fire” in High Valyrian. She isn’t afraid to call wrath down on others.
Olenna Tyrell- Loud, unapologetically blunt, zero-filter, feisty. Olenna to me is the definition of Sagittarius. Always speaks her mind. Clap back queen. Will call you out. Was also quite promiscuous in her younger years. Very charismatic and extremely likable despite her penchant for saying whatever was on her mind.
Capricorn
Tywin Lannister- I can’t see the patriarch of the most notorious family in Westeros being anything other than a Capricorn. Methodical. Structured. Business-minded. Karmic [A "Lannister always repays his debts"] Cold. Cruel. Unfeeling. Like Saturn, he is the father figure. Basically ran the 7 Kingdoms for Aerys, [which was probably why the latter was so salty towards him.] Always has a plan. The man you want in charge if we’re strictly talking about law and order. Vindictive [had the mountain kill Elia because Rhaegar rejected Cersei.] He’s the ultimate son-of-a-bitch.
Jon Snow- Brooding hero that he is, Bae Jon Snow is without a doubt a Capricorn in my eyes. Duty-bound. Serious. A leader in his own right. Could also be cold and unfeeling in terms of distributing karmic justice. Lest we forget the “fetch-me-a-block” situation with Janos Slynt. In addition, the moment he was resurrected he took vengeance against the black brothers who betrayed him. Saturn, Like Pluto, is all about karmic justice. The beating he put on Ramsey after The Battle of the Bastards was one thousand percent a karmic beating. A proper lover as well, according to Ygritte, Jon also knew how to handle himself in the bedroom, a trait very akin to Capricorns.
Aquarius
Bran Stark- I thought about making Bran a Pisces, but then I changed my mind. Remember Uranus rules sudden insights and hardcore psychic receptivity. It also rules sudden and unexpected catastrophes or surprises/ sudden breaks. Bran suffered a literal “tower” moment at the beginning of the series which resulted in his psychic powers developing. Once he became the three-eyed raven, he became very detached from the world.
Grey Worm- Aquarius is also androgynous. Grey Worm is a eunuch. He is always down to fight for a cause though, specifically his queen’s. Cares about others, specifically Missandei, and was seen towards the latter season speaking up for the Unsullied against the slavers. Fierce combatant but also very detached. His job is his job.
Pisces
Jaqen H’ghar- Much like Neptune, Pisces’ ruler Jaqen has a mysterious and illusive personality. He wears “many faces”. Skilled at illusion and very very intuitive. Has a soft side though which is clearly seen with how he treats Arya. Hardly ever flies off the handle. Calm. Cool. Collected.
Hodor- Sweet and gentle giant, Hodor is a Pisces to me. Affected by psychic trauma, it’s revealed why “Hodor” is the only thing he can say. Calm. A bit of a baby. Caring. Easily adaptable [think of all the terrain he carried Bran through]
Eddard Stark- I don't care what anyone says, Ned stark to me represents the most developed form of a Pisces. Like the Hanged-Man in Tarot that represents sacrifice and which Neptune Rules, he willingly sacrificed his reputation as honorable for his sister, Lyanna. He later sacrifices himself for his children when he died at Joffrey’s [little bitch] command. He is wise. Though appears cold, he is actually a well of feeling and caring. Unfortunately, he also suffered from the naivety of Neptunian influence which is why he wasn’t very skilled at the Game of Thrones, which calls for more tactical ruthlessness. Pisceans however also have the rage of Poseidon flowing through their veins [which people like to forget]. This was displayed when he pinned Petyr Baelish to the Wall in King’s Landing for daring to dishonor Cat by inviting her into a Brothel. RIP, King Stark.

A Good Wife
Request: Hi there! 😀Can I request a Jaime Lannister one-shot, where he falls in love with the eldest of the Stark children and Robb's older twin sister? Robert felt the need to unite the Great Houses even more, so he decided to strip Jaime of his 'Sir' title and betrothe him and the Reader (much to her family's dismay and Robb's anger).Robb is her closest and best friend, and when the war between the kings starts, R flees from King's Landing back to her brother's side, much to Jaime's shock and hurt. Requested by @witch-of-letters
Warnings: death (but I think everyone who watched the first season knows who’s”, swearing?
Word Count: 1948.
Sansa was always the one who wanted to marry quickly and preferably a prince or a king. Arya wanted to be a warrior and hated being a lady. You were in the middle. You trained with Robb, Jon and Theon but also took ‘ladies’ courses like sewing, behaving etc. You were the eldest daughter of Eddard Stark so you had to be a role model for both your sisters and your brothers.
After the ‘usurper’ king Robert Baratheon visited Winterfell, both his ‘son’ Joffrey and Sansa showed interest in e each other. He asked your father to become hand of the king and wanted to unify the two houses by marrying Joffrey to Sansa. Ned wasn’t pleased but he accepted because Robert was the king and he was his friend. Not to mention, he was an honorable man and never wanted to cause trouble. The other reason that made his accept is because he wanted to marry you to Jaime Lannister.
“Robb! Y/n, I need to talk to you” he interrupted your duel with Robb.
“Someone’s in trouble’ Robb teased.
Tumblr media
“Shut up” you left with your father to your chamber where he told you to sit down and have a drink for this.
“What’s wrong, father?” You saw the discomfort on his eyes.
“I never forced anything on you, have I?”.
“Never”.
“Daughter, I need you to do something for our house. You are to marry Ser Jaime Lannister”.
“What? The queen’s brother? No, I don’t want to. He’s arrogant and I don’t want to leave the north. This is my home” you refused.
“Y/n, please. I’ve never asked you for anything. You have to do this for the greater good. If Sansa is to marry Joffrey, I need to make sure that she’s safe. That you’ll be with her”.
“But you’re hand of the king now, you’ll be there for her”.
“I won’t have the time. I will be busy attending meetings and dealing with the realm’s issues. Besides, who knows for how long I’ll serve and what about after I’m dead? She’ll be all alone in the south”.
“Don’t say that, please! You’re going to live a long and happy life. I will do as you say, but only for our house”.
“Thank you, it’s a great responsibility but I’m sure you’re more than capable of handling it. I knew I could count on you” he embraced you and kissed your forehead.
“And winter is coming!” He reminded you.
Tumblr media
When Robert told Jaime, he refused. But Robert stripped him of his title and threatened to kill him if He doesn’t obey his command. He had to accept and went to tell Cersei. She tried to convince Robert, but to no use. Cersei hated you and from that day she treated you badly.
You requested that the wedding take place in Winterfell where your whole family was and could attend and Robert approved.
“So you’re really getting married” Robb entered your room as you were preparing.
“I wish I didn’t have to” you expressed.
“Leave us” Robb dismissed your ladies so you could have a private conversation.
“Then why did you agree to do it?” He asked.
“It was father’s wish. The king suggested it to unify our houses and father couldn’t refuse, you know him” you informed Robb.
“I’ll talk to him. I’ll stop the wedding- I’ll convince him” Robb wanted to help you so bad.
“It’s too late, Robb. The wedding is in a few hours. Besides, I have already agreed” you put your hand on his upper arm to comfort him, even when you were the one who needed comforting.
“Is there something I can do?”.
“Just hold me” and so he wrapped his hands around you and rested his head on yours.
“I wish the queen had a sister. Maybe then, you’d have to marry her and I’d stay here” you joked.
“I can still do that”.
“What? Marry Jaime?”.
“Sure. He has long blond hair and kind of looks like his sister” he tried to cheer you up and it worked.
After the wedding, you waited in your chamber for Jaime to come. He eventually came… late when you almost fell asleep.
“My lord” you courtesied.
He ignored you and poured himself some wine, but he was already drunk. You could see that he was forced into this, so you wanted to ease the tension between you. You walked towards him and held his hand, taking the cup from it “let me”.
“I don’t know how you imagined this marriage to be. I do not want you. I will not touch you or sleep with you. We will have separate rooms when we get back to King’s landing. You are not to interfere with my business or ask me questions about my whereabouts. I will fuck whoever I want and I expect you to not get jealous. We will only see each other at feast and formal events, where we pretend to love and care for each other. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have somewhere else to be” he rudely instructed and left the room.
You were in shock at first. You felt offended but then relieved that you didn’t have to sleep with him.
Months went by and you only saw Jaime a couple of times. You felt lonely and missed Winterfell and your family. Sansa was still here, but she wasn’t Robb and only talked about herself. Ned was also there, but he was too busy, that sometimes you even tried to help him out of boredom.
One night, someone knocked on your door. You weren’t sure if you should open it or not. After all, you were alone and nobody usually knocks at that time. But you decided to take the chances. To your surprise, it was Jaime… drunk.
“Are you going to invite me in or are we going to stand here all night?” He boldly asked.
“Come on in”.
“Do you have wine?”.
“You’re already drunk. What do you want, Jaime?” You crossed your arms.
“I- I just needed to talk to someone” tears were forming in his eyes.
“What’s wrong? What happened?” You sat next to him at the edge of the bed.
“It’s uhm Cersei”.
“What about her?”.
“She- uh- she…I can’t. I shouldn’t. I’ll get in trouble if I told you”.
“Jaime, I know about your relationship with Cersei” you admitted.
“What? How?”.
“I have eyes and ears”.
“And you haven’t told anyone. Why?”.
“What kind of wife would I be if I did that?” You chuckled.
“Since you know, I can tell you. She refused me tonight and sent me away. I can’t bare to be apart from her” he confessed.
“It’s alright. I’m here for you” you wrapped your arm around him and he rested his head on your chest. There was silence in the room for a moment before he spoke “you’re a good wife, Y/n! Thank you” he lifted his head and kissed you.
You pulled back from surprise and asked “what are you doing?”.
“Treating you like a wife” he pushed you on the bed and was now on top of you kissing your lips and neck.
“Stop! We shouldn’t do this”.
“But we’re married”.
“That does not make it right. I don’t love you and you love your sister. You're drunk and you’re hurt. You’ll regret this in the morning. You just want a distraction and I can’t be it. If you want to forget, go fuck a whore” you pushed him and moved from beneath him, walking to the door and opening it for him.
“Now, leave, please!”.
The next day, you were walking with Sansa in the garden when he approached you.
“My lady! Y/n! Can I borrow your sister for a moment?” He asked Sansa.
“Of course” she left you two to talk.
“I just wanted to apologize for my behavior yesterday. Please forgive me. I promise, I’ll never come near your chambers again”.
“It’s alright, you were drunk. I forgive you. Don’t make such promises”.
“What does that mean?”.
“I’ve thought about it. If you want us to be really husband and wife, I will give you a chance. You can visit my chambers tonight” and with those words, your marriage truly began. You were happy for a time. You even fell in love with each other until the worst day came upon you. The king died, your father found the truth about Cersei and Jaime and the parentage of the sons and daughter of the queen. She imprisoned him and he was to be executed. You begged Jaime to do something, but it was to no use. Cersei and Joffrey told him to admit that what he said was a lie and confess his treason. And he did for your sake and Sansa’s, but Joffrey beheaded him to everyone’s shock. Sansa begged Cersei to spare her life and she did because she was still young and betrothed to Joffrey. The way she saw it was that she has the north in her grip, having Sansa as a hostage for them to not rebel against the throne. And she also had the chance to kill you, but Jaime defended you.“She’s her father’s daughter. She’s as much traitorous as he was”.
“No, she’s not and you know it. And if it were true, you would’ve executed Sansa too”.
“She’s just a child and she’s to be Joffrey’s wife”.
“And Y/n’s my wife!” He yelled at her.
“Only in name. You don’t love her, step aside”.
“I do love her! And she.is.my wife! Not in name only. She had nothing to do with what Ned Stark did. Now leave her be. She is a Lannister now! Just accept it”.
You were sitting by the door on the other end of the wall, listening. That’s when you remembered you are a Stark and you always will be no matter what or who you marry. It was time to go home. It was time to reunite with your family.
At night, you managed to pack a few things and sneaked snuck off to Sansa’s chamber.
“Wake up. Shhh! It’s only me. We have to go”.
“We can’t. They’ll kill us” Sansa was terrified.
“There is a chance, yes. But if we stay here, we’re as good as dead. Come with me, sister”.
“I can’t. If you- if you survive and get to Robb, don’t forget about me. Tell him to come and get me” Sansa refused to leave, so you had no other choice but to leave her behind. You said your goodbyes and were about to get on your horse when you heard his voice.
“So you’re going to abandon me?”.
Tumblr media
“I have to go, Jaime. It’s not safe for me here”.
“I’ll protect you”.
“You can’t. Not when it comes to Cersei”.
“Please stay”.
“I have to go home. I’ve been here too long that I started to forget who I am”.
“You’re my wife”.
“I am a Stark and I always will be”.
“You’re a Lannister”.
“No. You are. Your sister is. Your bastard son who murdered my father is. I’ll never be a part of this hateful family”.
“You don’t mean that”.
“I do. Every word I said, I mean it you tried to hurt him to make it easier for the both of you, but he knew better.
“I love you”.
“But I- I don’t” tears were forming in both of your eyes.
“You’re lying. I know you love me. You’re free! Go to your family! Be happy!” He didn't want you to feel guilty, so he pretended to be okay with you leaving.

We Really Need to Talk About the Forehead Kiss Scene
Tumblr media
Consider this another iteration of the Sansa and Jon “Would that be so terrible?” scene that I covered a little while back.
For a lot of people that believe that Jonsa will happen, the scene on the battlements in “The Winds of Winter”, the finale episode of the sixth season of Game of Thrones, is the starting point of that belief.
It’s unusually sweet, as Jon and Sansa scenes tend to be. It’s almost semi-unnecessary to the plot. It’s the last we see of Jon before it’s revealed that he is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, making this decidedly un-sibling like interaction with Sansa a bit less suspicious except upon rewatch. (Sidenote, imagine if this scene took place after we learned about R+L=J...)
But a lot of Jonsa skeptics (I’ll call them that though there are obviously varying degrees of this such as “venomous”) seem unable to understand why this particular scene feels so different from just about every single other scene on the show. To me, there are multiple factors that make this particular scene unique from any other on the show.
It’s an almost perfect example of a “romance setup” from multiple angles.
1.) It didn’t really advance the “plot”
For some reason, this scene was included among the 10 most crucial scenes of the series by HBO pre-season 7 buuuuut not a lot happened at face value.
Jon had just banished Melissandre for burning someone alive (inquisitive emoji) and was watching her leave on the battlements. He’s approached by Sansa. She says she’s sorry. He credits her for winning the battle. They say they need to trust each other. They leave. So why is a “recap of events” considered a crucial scene? Why was it on the show at all? Viewers wanted to know what Jon was going to do about Sansa arriving with the KotV and if they were going to have a conflict about it. Except that part took about 5 seconds. And the opposite happened.
Similar to the Littlefinger choke scene in season 7, this didn’t really directly affect the actions of the characters in any way. Even if a scene doesn’t advance “plot”, it’s meant to advance the “story”. What happens here between Jon and Sansa? It revealed something between the two of them that wasn’t revealed simply through the dialogue. It’s inclusion in the show at all should leave you wondering about its purpose, but the added layers of the length, framing, and use of reaction shots should make it fairly obvious that it’s a romantic scene.
2.) Both characters are pleasantly surprised by each other’s tenderness towards the other
I think to really grasp this scene, you have to get inside the heads of each character.
Normally, any surprise in Game of Thrones is a bad thing. The strange quality of the battlements scene is that it’s an inversion of the normal routine. We need to take a step back and evaluate the psychology of Jon and Sansa as they’re entering.
Jon has just banished the person who resurrected him. He’s just won a battle that he knows he should have lost. He’s clearly been quite introspective about Sansa and what she meant and her importance in winning the battle since he’s already preparing her chambers. Somehow, the tent scene is magnified in its intensity because this scene is its exact opposite and it’s where we last left off with Jon and Sansa.
Sansa pleaded with Jon to listen to her.
Tumblr media
To be fair to Jon, it’s hard to understand what Sansa is saying but instead of trying to understand her more, he allows them to be dead locked and unable to finish their thoughts.
Tumblr media
and it ends with Jon’s sad resignation that he desperately wants to win but he’s not sure if he can.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this was the last time they spoke privately before the battle. Jon feels guilt for failing to listen. Sansa feels guilt for calling in Littlefinger, an option neither she nor Jon would have wanted.
Then - their relationship suddenly became stronger because of the weakness they revealed to each other. Instead of punishing each other, they forgive each other. Instead of gloating, Sansa reaches out and expresses to Jon that she never wanted it that way. Instead of holding it against Sansa, Jon reaches back and validates her importance in multiple ways.
The most rewarding part is how they each give wonderful gestures to each other in turn without being prompted.
He’s publicly affirmed her place as the Lady of Wintefell...
Tumblr media
She objects but only because she thinks he should be seen as the head of the family...
Tumblr media
Sansa tells him he should take it. Jon responds with a sad smile and says he’s not a Stark. And then Sansa gives Jon the most gentle but meaningful affirmation that he’s ever gotten on the show...
Tumblr media
“You are to me.”
(I decided halfway through this to leave the text off the gifs because I want the focus on the micro expressions of the actors because...damn...)
What else could anyone say to Jon that would mean more to him at this point? His entire life has been marked by his non-Starkness. Sansa is working to undo the biggest source of his sadness without his ever asking for it.
Jon’s gift to Sansa is recognition and it comes in two parts;
Tumblr media
1) “You’re the Lady of Winterfell.” He was right there as Lyanna Mormont referred to her as a Lannister and a Bolton. He was right there as Lord Glover looked right into her eyes and told her that House Stark is dead. No. Jon is determined that those statements are to be corrected.
2) “We’re standing here because of you.” He’s not just “gifting” her the position and the lord’s chamber. She’s earned it in his eyes. Her place is meant to be elevated above his at this point. This is before he was crowned as king. He was content for her to be in charge until he was thrust into the position of command.
So what does Sansa do? He’s just basically said “you were right” and she has a chance to respond. Does she gloat? Does she say “well yes I suppose I am the last remaining Stark (that we know of) and so I should rule our house...I also command the loyalty of the Vale”? None of that, she apologizes to him. She’s still expecting his anger and disappointment and feels she deserves it.
Tumblr media
And it makes sense. Leave aside that it was absolutely necessary for Sansa to bring in the KotV and ask yourself “when was the last time Sansa was ever actually rewarded or treated gently by someone she thought she wronged?” She’s existed in a constant state of punishment since Littlefinger betrayed Ned in the throne room in season 1. Misery is her expectation. Her expression as Jon approaches confirms this exactly.
Tumblr media
Part is her actual guilt, and I’m sure part of it is an expectation based on her experiences...and to her pretty obvious surprise, Jon does the exact opposite.
HA. You’ll have to wait for the kiss gifs because I want to change gears now.
The entire last section was explaining why this scene was so unexpected given the context of the setup. Both characters had reasons to treat the other harshly. Jon for his stubbornness. Sansa for not telling Jon about the Vale. All the components were there to reinforce an ongoing feud between the two. These were the factors commonly cited by those oh-so-brilliant Starkbowl predictions leading up to season 7.
Yet despite that tension, we didn’t get a shouting match and glares and future plotting. We got a moment of clarity for once...and a whole new set of questions about these two. The beauty of their quiet moment together was in its simplicity - but also in the way that the writers indicated that there was so much more going on than we could have ever known.
Yet all of this information is packed into a scene that’s so quiet and slow. It’s in the romantic pacing.
3.) The Pacing
Jon and Sansa have had always had a distinct strangeness to their scenes in that they’re almost all completely different from any other. Their reunion was a moment of triumph for any Stark fans as they were the first two reunited since the pilot episode. Their fireside chat started incredibly sweet and ended with the heightened stakes of Sansa attempting to convince Jon to re-take Winterfell. The Pink Letter scene is the realization that their little oasis was about to meet the realities of a harsh world that still viewed both of them as threats.
The cloak scene where Sansa gifts Jon a Stark cloak after Jon takes keen interest in Sansa’s new dress is another moment where each took the initiative to validate the other without any prompting.
They argued twice, while at the encampment and in the tent before the battle, but each scene was unique as Sansa indirectly criticized Jon’s decisions to follow Davos considering Stannis’ ultimate failure, and Jon mostly tried to tune Sansa’s arguments out - while the tent scene is where those complaints came into a direct collision.
Then they met on the battlements and it was equally emotional but in a total reverse of tone.
Simply put, this scene was about “Jon & Sansa” as an entity and not about “Jon” having a talk with “Sansa”. It’s all in the pacing and it’s all in the framing.
We already know the setup. Now comes the payoff. Jon has already told Sansa they need to trust each other. That would be the “plot” purpose of the scene. As far as things happening that affect the story directly, it could have ended right there. “It’s ok Sansa. We’re a team now.” Or, alternatively, Jon could have kissed Sansa’s forehead and THEN said they need to trust each other and the tone could be viewed entirely differently. Instead, the show disposed of the “textual” purpose of the scene and continued right through with the “subtext” (which also continued into season 7) which is: what exactly is the nature of Jon and Sansa’s relationship?
It’s not just the forehead kiss. It’s not just the romantic back drop. It’s not just the setup. It’s not just the micro expression of the actors. It’s not just that the whole scene is relatively unnecessary. It’s all of that mixed together.
This is where the pacing comes into play. Let’s recap the scene to this point...
Sansa gets about 13 seconds of an entrance before Jon tells her he’s having the lord’s chamber prepared for her.
Sansa waits 3 seconds before answering “mother and father’s room?”
Jon waits about 3 seconds before he says he’s not a Stark.
Sansa answers “you are to me” almost immediately.
Jon has roughly a 5 second reaction shot.
There’s about a 5 second pause after Jon gives Sansa credit for winning the battle before Sansa starts apologizing.
Sansa says sorry and Jon waits about 6 seconds before he even starts walking over to her.
There’s about 3 seconds between Jon saying they have enemies and him reaching up to kiss her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jon gets roughly 3 seconds to kiss Sansa and about 4 seconds of gazing at her (and her gazing at him). They make this moment last.
Then they transition into a micro expression that juuuuust says everything.
Tumblr media
The second Jon closes his lips, he looks down and abruptly starts to walk away. But his mood has immediately turned almost melancholy or sort of a confusion. It’s not normal to kiss someone tenderly and then just turn around and leave. Even if it were entirely platonic. There’s something left unsaid...especially since the camera focuses on the post-kiss for almost 6 seconds altogether before Jon starts to leave. Viewers aren’t the only ones left a bit bewildered.
Sansa’s reaction tells the same story.
She stands in the same position, almost frozen. She’s internally probably as confused as Jon. She came to Jon to apologize (remember, she approached him) - which I’m assuming she would have been dreading. She got her apology, and he delivered his form of “there’s nothing to forgive” which would normally signal that her part here is over. Yet he initiates physical affection for her when positive physical affection is something that’s a very complicated subject for her.
And it stuns her. As he begins to leave, we see her expressing that she doesn’t want the moment to end.
Tumblr media
It’s ridiculously beautiful. Sansa finding a reason for Jon to get one last look, right after he had turned away in sort of Byronic melancholy, only to have her call him back again is extremely romantic given what we know about both of these characters.
The immediacy of Jon’s response in turning back towards her and the utter-seriousness of his look again makes the end of this scene a twist of its own.
Tumblr media
“Winter is here.” That phrase is of course a play off of “Winter is coming” the words of House Stark and the ominous warning of fear and looming destruction echoed throughout the entirety of the series. Those words should mean “fear”; real “fear”. (also take note of her deliberately deep breath as her eyes scan Jon again..)
And how do they react to this potentially terrifying threat? By being adorable again!?!?
Tumblr media
Well of course they do. Because winter is here and they are home. Think about this. Being together (moments after entering a scene which they both began reluctantly) is enough to make them smile sweetly as they acknowledge the coming storm.
And the end really cements Jon’s view of Sansa as a noble lady.
Tumblr media
And the pure joy Sansa feels as the scene concludes.
To wrap up...the scene didn’t have to happen in the first place. The setup made you wonder if there was going to be fracture. It was tender. It was warm. It’s pacing made you sit and take notice. It didn’t waste any time - it took its time.
We were meant to see not just the displays of forgiveness and validation by Jon and Sansa towards each other. We were meant to see them expecting the worst and getting something beautiful instead. We were meant to see them wrestling with the confusion of where the scene was heading. We were meant to see them completely comfortable in each other’s presence in this very moment - and we were meant to see a very subtle but also very unsubtle indication that the direction of their relationship is causing (and must cause) them inner conflict before it can truly provide them fulfillment.
They weren’t a royal couple in this scene but I’m fully confident that after the finale season has concluded, this scene will be the one everyone can point to and say “this is where Jon and Sansa ending as king and queen truly became possible.”

GoT Afterthoughts ep. 08x02 ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ (Jonsa Edition)
Guys this episode was sooooooo good! Okay, okay, okay, let’s unpack here! I have lots of thoughts and since this isn’t broken up into parts, this is going to be a long post, so I’m gonna drop this bad boy under a read more.
We begin in the Great Hall. It appears Jaime is on trial. Queen Dany sits at the head of the table—and imagine having the fucken audacity to sit in Winterfell — in Rickard fucken Starks seat—and in front of his grandchildren, talking about the extermination of Aerys Targaryen like he was some noble king that was just slaughtered by the big bad kingslayer, and NOT the murderous fucken mad Targ king, whom crimes’ you just recently apologized to Jon for, and called him evil to conveniently set yourself apart from him—or did you just forget all that, Dany? Hmmm? IMAGINE the big hairy pair you have to have to actually sit in between the Starks in their own home and utterly disrespect them like that—all while claiming to be in love with one of them? Wow. Just wow. And no, I’m not even sorry for that amazingly clunky run-on sentence, either.
~
I see that Jaime still has no interest in setting the record straight on why he killed Aerys Targaryen. It appears only Brienne will truly ever know about the millions of people he saved that day in doing so. Jaime stands his ground, though, and gives up Cersei’s plans. Tyrion tries to stand up for him, but Dany cuts him off at the knees (no pun intended), embarrassing him in front of everyone, as per ush.
~
For a moment her and Sansa have common ground. Sansa doesn’t trust Jaime either because of the wrongs he committed against her family. Jamie won’t apologize for any of it— their houses were at war. But Brienne vouches for him—my courageous, yet shy bb (God, I love her), and Sansa relents, her mind changed when Brienne says she’d fight beside him. Sansa trusts Brienne with her life, therefore Brienne trusting Jaime with hers is good enough for the Lady of Winterfell.
Tumblr media
Dany is clearly not pleased with this turn of events. She turns to Jon, addressing him as Warden of the North and asks him what he thinks — assuming he will take her side, but—
Tumblr media
He does not.
~
Dany finally relents as well, grounding out a “very well” between clenched teeth, as Tyrion breathes a sigh of relief that his big bro will not be extra crispy or original recipe’d today. GreyWorm returns Jaime’s sword—rather forcefully, knowing his queen is displeased—as Jaime thanks Dany for her uncharacteristic mercy.
~
Scene Highlights:
Bran blurting out “the things we do for love” and leaving Jaime shooketh
Sansa immediately standing up and leaving without waiting to be dismissed by the queen, and Jon ducking his head to avoid eye contact and then dipping as soon as Dany turns to face him.
~
Which takes us into the corridors of Winterfell and Dany resorting to her favorite pastime when she’s angry about things not going her way: berating her Hand in front of everyone. Luckily for Tyrion it’s just Jorah and Varys to witness it this time. Once again she accuses him of treason, and Tyrion is pretty sure that his time as Hand in her service is fast dwindling.
~
We jump to the forge where Arya stands back admiring Gendry work his magic—a callback to their time at Harrenhall in their younger years. They have a little flirty weaponry banter, and Arya wants to know what the AotD are like. She utters the iconic ‘many faces of death’ lines from the trailer while she impresses Gendry with some dead ass accurate blade throwing. He’ll be getting right on making her that weapon, by the way—and probably walking a little funny while he does it. 😉
~
Jaime seeks out Bran in the Godswood. He apologizes for what he did and tells Bran he’s not that person anymore. “You still would be if you hadn’t pushed me out that window, and I’d still be Brandon Stark.” Wow. Jaime wants to know why Bran didn’t tell them what he did, and Bran basically tells him it’s because they need him. When Jaime inquires “what about afterwards?” Bran drops an ominous “how do you know there will be an afterwards?”
~
We jump back to the Winterfell courtyard, where the Lannister brothers are catching up and commiserating about being in Winterfell again. Dany is different, Tyrion tells Jaime, and Jaime doesn’t seem so convinced. Tyrion wants to know if Cersei lied about the baby, and Jaime tells him that was true (as far as he/we know, people). But what I REALLY love about their conversation is this part:
~
J: She’s always been good at using the truth to tell lies. Don’t be too hard on yourself. She’s fooled me more than anybody.
~
T: She never fooled you. You always knew exactly what she was, and you loved her anyway.
~
The funny, or actually ironic thing about this conversation is they’re talking about Cersei, but if you flip the dialogue between the Lannister brothers here, the same could be said for Dany—especially the bolded part. Think back to the things Tyrion said to Jorah when he kidnapped him back in season 5 — he was confused by Jorah’s blind loyalty, too. How the mighty have fallen, Tyrion.
~
They move their conversation up to the battlements, where Tyrion finds the silver lining that at least he won’t die at Cersei’s hands, and perhaps once he’s torn apart by the dead, he’ll march to Kings Landing and rip her apart too. But he’s talking to himself, because Jaime is too busy watching Brienne supervising the training of her ranks just outside the gates.
~
And my Braime heart is siiiiiiiinging!!!
~
He joins her below, and she calls him out for acting weird and not insulting her as per ush. lol It’s really just an adorable little love spat — complete with awkwardness and frustration and plenty of UST. And as the music lulls romantically, he basically admits that she’s the reason he’s here and even though he’s no longer the fighter that he used to be, he‘d be honored to serve under her command if she’ll have him—which is basically fucken a straight up declaration of love, okay? He literally just said—complete with puppy dog eyes—“I love you.” CHANGE MY MIND!!
~
Brienne is taken aback by this declaration of love and is at loss for words — and so she ducks out, leaving him to watch after her forlornly. And my Braime heart is still siiiiiiiinging!!!!
~
We head back inside of Winterfell, Dany is alone in her chambers — and they aren’t the Lord’s Chambers, that’s for damn sure. She’s not having a very good day, and her expression here certainly reflects that. Jorah enters, asking her forgiveness, reminding her that forgiveness is important. This leads into a conversation where he basically asks her to take it easy on Tyrion and give him another chance.
~
While book!Jorah might be a creep, I truly adore show!Jorah, who laments that when he found out Dany gave Tyrion this position, it broke his heart, but he still believes that Tyrion was the right choice; he’s smart, he owns his mistakes and he learns from them.
~
What I find odd is Dany’s reply: “You’re advising me to forgive the man who stole your position?”
~
Wait... what? When did Tyrion do that? I recall Dany proudly pinning that golden hand pin on a very humbled Tyrion in the season 6 finale—not some rabid dwarf attacking an unsuspecting Jorah and wrestling the position from his gnarled greyscaled hands—and what-the-ever-living-fuck kind of crazy ass dialogue are they giving this girl?
~
Jorah has one other suggestion for her, if she’ll allow him such liberties. Annnnnd now the Sansa/Dany scene makes so much more sense. Dany didn’t seek Sansa out of her own accord to try and bridge the icy gap between them because she’s just so humble and wonderful and loving and good!!!! !!!! !!!! It was actually Ser Jorah’s idea.
~
So Dany takes him up on his suggestion and seeks Sansa out, finding her in the library with Lord Royce. But ahhhh this scene is just so fucken good, so let’s unpack it, shall we?
~
Dany enters and asks that they speak in private, and Sansa cedes to her wishes, dismissing Lord Royce.
~
D - I thought you and I were on the verge of agreement before... about Ser Jaime.
~
S - Brienne has been loyal to me always. I trust her more than anyone.
~
D - I wish I could have that kind of faith in my advisers.
~
Here she takes a low blow at Tyrion again, but Sansa defends him.
~
S - Tyrion is a good man. He was never anything but decent towards me.
~
D - I didn’t ask him to be my hand simply because he was good. I asked him to be my hand because he was good and intelligent and ruthless when he had to be. (See, I told y’all Tyrion didn’t steal the position... and yes, I’m being petty lol). Dany steps closer into Sansa’s space as she continues. He never should have trusted Cersei.
~
S - You never should have either.
~
Sansa drops a truth bomb, insinuating (rightly) that Dany shares the blame here, and Dany doesn’t like this at all. She swallows, containing her anger and paints on a fake smile in her irritation at Sansa’s words.
~
D - I thought he knew his sister.
~
S - Families are complicated.
~
Dany smiles at that and pulls up a seat, indicating for Sansa to do the same.
~
D - Ours certainly have been.
~
S - A sad thing to have in common.
~
D - We have other things in common. We’ve both known what it means to lead people who aren’t inclined to accept a woman’s rule. And we’ve both done a damn good job of it, from what I can tell...
~
Sansa smiles briefly at this. Clearly, Dany is using the compliment strategy again, but not so shallowly this time. Even if she truly believes this, the commonality of them both being women ruling is where this similarity ends. We’ve seen how differently they run things via season 7’s blatant comparison of ‘the three queens’. Sansa stores food, Cersei steals it, and Dany burns it (and yes, I’m going to keep bringing this up). But honestly, who could forget?
Tumblr media
vs.
Tumblr media
D - (cont.) ...and yet I can’t help feeling like we’re at odds with each other. Why is that?
~
Sansa takes a deep breath but doesn’t reply.
~
D - Your brother?
~
Yeah y’all, they really did that. But again I say, no love triangle brewing here, folks.
~
S - He loves you, you know that? *(I’ll address this in a minute)
~
D - That bothers you?
~
S - Men do stupid things for women. They’re easily manipulated.
~
D - All my life I’ve known one goal. The iron throne. Taking it back from the people that destroyed my family, and almost destroyed yours. My war was against them until I met Jon. Now I’m here, half a world away, fighting Jon’s war alongside him. Tell me, who manipulated whom?
~
Y’all are you serious?!?!? This entire fucken monologue is like literally POLITICAL!JON — I mean, it’s like D&D are literally fucken trolling this relationship so hard. Nothing like hiding some shit right out in plain sight for all the world to not see it. *And if you think for one minute that Sansa is not playing the game here, and that she actually did a complete 180, then I don’t know what to tell you other than, just wait and see.
~
There was a reason that they cut that office scene between her and Jon in the last episode, and after mulling it over with a few of my comrades, I think that it’s possible that Jon came clean and brought Sansa in on it. They have been a unit since they reunited, and a major part of Sansa’s hostility in the last episode was because she felt Dany was encroaching upon that, and she was losing Jon. Romantic or platonic, no one can deny the dynamic is there between Jon and Sansa. I happen to think it’s romantic, and I will die on this hill—but political!jon and jonsa aren’t mutually exclusive!!! !!! Okay, back to our dialogue.
~
S - (releases a small laugh and looks down—and I can’t help hearing Catelyn’s voice in my head: ‘you always look at your feet when you lie’) I should have thanked you the moment you arrived. That was a mistake.
~
D- (reaching down and placing her hand atop of Sansa’s). I’m here because I love your brother, and I trust him. And I know he’s true to his word. He’s only the second man in my life I can say that about.
~
S - Who was the first?
~
D- Someone taller.
~
They both giggle. I assume the other man she’s talking about is Drogo. In any event, I feel Dany is being truly sincere here. This is why people (her stans and the GA both) have a hard time seeing the darkness in her—because one minute she’s sitting narrow-eyed at a table, fighting off a tantrum while she drones on about her father—the fucken mad king—and how her and her brother fantasized about what they would do to the man that murdered him (one can only assume she wasn’t implying knitting him a sweater and mittens), and the next minute she’s all gentle heart and eyes and soft tones about loving and trusting Jon, and giggling with his sister about her ex being much taller than him. I get it. I really do.
~
But here’s the thing about political!jon that the antis and the jonerii always get wrong—at least the version I subscribe to (and yes, there are several variations of it because we aren’t a hive-mind like we’re always accused of being): Jon has every intention of fulfilling his pledge to Dany and whatever that entails—which is why he keeps trying to convince everyone that she’ll be a good queen (including himself). But he doesn’t love her. He simply used the feelings that he recognized that she had for him, to manipulate her to his cause. This doesn’t mean that he’ll throw her out of winterfell and bone his sister when it’s all said and done—because no, Jon isn’t a creep, but he is actually rather cunning when he deems it necessary.
~
However, he won’t have to keep up the charade, or boot her ass out of the north, or any of the other things the jonerii accuse us of ‘fantasizing’ about, because Dany is going to go dark, and everyone will see her for what she truly is. So, let’s return to our dialogue so I can get tf off of this scene! lol
~ S - And what happens afterwards? We defeat the dead, you destroy Cersei, what happens then?
~
D - I take the iron throne.
~
S - What about the North? (Sansa’s tone drops here as she becomes emotional about her home and her people, the music becomes more ominous as the softness ebbs from Dany’s face). It was taken from us, and we took it back. And we said we’d never bow to anyone else again. (Her tone gets sharper, as she asks again). What about the North?
~
Dany looks angry now. She’s done playing nice, as she pulls her hand back from Sansa’s. The ominous music drones on as they stare at each other, and the maester interrupts them.~Theon has arrived at Winterfell. The music swells, and Theon looks first to a very visibly emotional Sansa, then Dany, and then back to Sansa again before customarily bowing to and acknowledging his queen. Suddenly Dany gives a flying fuck about her ally and inquires about Yara. Theon explains she’s taken back the Iron Islands in her (Dany’s) name.
~
“But why aren’t you with her?” Dany asks, confused at his presence, while the music swells again and Theon looks again, to Sansa—and not his queen. Dany of course notices this, and turns to look at Sansa as well, as Theon directly addresses—you guessed it—Sansa, and not his queen: “I want to fight for Winterfell, Lady Sansa. If you’ll have me.”
~
And oh dear god, I’m so emotional rn, as Sansa’s eyes flood with tears and she runs to envelope Theon in a hug — Theon whom through his own trauma, not only helped to get her away from Ramsay and safely to Jon — but also cared enough for her and the Starks and what he did, to come back and finish making amends!!!! And you know Sansa is so proud of him!!! And I just had a conversation earlier with my bb @scullylikesscience that Theon would likely pledge to protect Bran, and that he will also likely sacrifice himself somehow to save one of the Starks, therefore completing his redemption arc, and I just can’t even rn— 😭😭
~
Scene Highlights:
Lord Royce leaving only when Sansa dismissed him.
Dany witnessing firsthand the devotion that Sansa and the Starks inspire in people.
Also... don’t forget
Tumblr media
We’re back out in the courtyard, where Dadvos is serving up dinner to the Northerners with a side of confidence, and Gilly is advising a woman where to go below in the crypts. A little orphan(?) girl with burns on the side of her face asks Davos where she should go and my fucken heart is shattering again because you know he sees Princess Shireen in her!!!
~
And Fuck you Bryan Cogman, you’re killing me!!!
~
She’s not sure where to go because she knows the children are going to the crypts where they’ll be safer, but both of her brothers were soldiers and so she wants to fight too. Auntie Gilly to the rescue: she tells the girl that she’d feel much safer if she was down in the crypts protecting her and her son, and with a purpose, the girl happily accepts her bowl and heads off as Gilly smiles softly at Davos. And god dammit, Liam Cunningham played this scene so well. He literally has me tearing up here!
~
The horn blows for a new arrival, and Edd is here! The last of the Nights Watch are back together again — and Tormund. lol He glomps Jon, affectionately dubbing him his ‘little crow’, and they let Jon know that Last Hearth is done for and anyone else who’s still out there is pretty much part of the AotD now. They have until sunrise to finish preparing.
~
And the war council has commenced.~We get a little glimpse of what the NK wants, I guess??? Bran says “he wants to erase this world, and I am its memory.” —but why? And then Sam says something pretty poignant that I want @thelawyerthatwaspromised ‘s thoughts/opinion on: “That’s what death is, isn’t it? Forgetting. Being forgotten. If we forget where we’ve been and what we’ve done, we’re not men anymore, just animals.Your memories don’t come from books, your stories aren’t just stories. If I wanted to erase the world, I may not start with you.”
~
Pretty sure those that theorized that Sam is writing A Song of Ice and Fire were right, y’all —  and with such a ‘poetic’ title, to boot.
~
They strategize a plan to ferret the NK out using (a volunteering) Bran as bait in the Godswood. Theon volunteers himself and the Iron Born to stay with Bran and protect him (and jfc here comes the end I predicted for Theon and I hate it so much), as Jon shares that taking out the NK will likely diminish the entire army. They cement their battle plans and Dany insists Tyrion stay in the crypts because she intends to keep him on as Hand. Tormund announces that they are all going to die, but at least they’ll die together, and Jon suggests everyone get some rest. Avoiding eye contact with Dany, he utters “your grace,” and then quickly ducks out on her ass again, leaving her looking confused and frustrated.
~
Scene Highlights:
Jon’s commanding presence in this meeting — even so far as to dismiss everyone, despite the fact that Dany is the queen and supposed to be the one calling the shots. Even her people look to him here for leadership, which is interesting.
Aegon Targaryen and his sister-wives.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you @goodqueenalys ❤️
Alys Karstark making another appearance here, standing beside Theon—yeah, I’m becoming more and more convinced we’re getting a Sansa death fake-out at the expense of this ginger beauty.
~
We head back out to the courtyard where a lonely looking Missandei attempts to befriend some northern children. Unfortunately, she came with the Dragon Queen, so they want nothing to do with her. Grey Worm joins her and the two make plans to leave for Naath after Dany takes the throne — which means that one of them is probably going to die. Sigh.
~
Way up high on the ramparts, Sam asks Jon if he’s told Dany yet. He has not, and so Sam prods him a bit — and oh look, there’s Ghost, off to the side looking like they literally photo-shopped him into the scene. 🙄
~
Edd joins them, and the last of the Watchers On The Wall commiserate, and poke a little fun at Sam. I’m very emotional as Edd says “last man left, burn the rest of us” (which most likely won’t be him) as they pan out to the northern scenery in the distance.
~
The Lannister boys are reminiscing again, this time by the hearth and are joined by Brienne and Podrick. Momma Brienne allows Pod a half cup of wine (which Tyrion overflows) and Jaime encourages her to join them (smitten fool). She does, as well as Davos and Tormund, too—who is fucken hilarious here as he tries to impress Brienne with one of his tall tales, then sloppily downs his horn of sour goats milk. It’s all rather strange. lol
~
There’s a brief scene of Arya and the Hound on the ramparts. She wants to know what he’s doing here—when’s the last time he fought for anyone but himself, as to which he replies: “I fought for you, didn’t I?” True enough. Beric joins them and Arya takes her leave, declaring she doesn’t intend to spend her last hours with these two miserable old shits. lol
~
I’m not sure where she headed off to, but Gendry finds her and presents her with her weapon. Arya wants to know what the red woman wanted with him. He tells her his blood because he’s Robert Baratheon’s bastard — which leads into Arya wanting to know how many women he’s been with. Gendry avoids the question, but Arya persists, many face gaming his ass until he relents. LOL
~
The number is 3, and Arya wants to be number 4. She wants to know what it’s like before she dies. And holy shit, they went there! They kiss passionately, with Arya taking the lead. She orders him to take his own bloody pants off and takes the bull for a ride—if ya know what I mean... 😉
Tumblr media
We return to the group before the hearth in the hall. Tyrion remarks that almost all among them had fought the Starks at some point, and yet, here they all are defending them. But yeah, this story is about a Targaryen restoration.
~
In their battle banter, it comes up that Brienne is not a Knight—and while Tormund would happily Knight her gorgeous big-womaned ass ten times over, tradition does not allow her to be one because she’s a woman. Oh the irony that the most honorable of them all—the one who actually is a true knight, cannot be named one. Until Jaime says, “hold my beer!” (or wine, rather).
~
Okay guys, like honestly, this is probably my most favorite scene of the entire series. Everything about it is so beautiful and wholesome, as Jaime declares any Knight can make another Knight and bids Brienne to kneel. She looks to Pod who, with an adoring face, gives her a little nod of encouragement, then she looks to Jaime, and he does the same.
~
The lovely music, the proud faces of all the men who look on with awe as Brienne kneels and Jaime says the words, pressing his blade gently from one shoulder to the other and makes some fucken Westerosi history when he says proudly: “Arise Brienne of Tarth, a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”
~
Guuuuuuuys!!!! Omg!!!! I’m definitely ugly CRYING here!!!! Brienne’s eyes welling with tears, her proud smile, all these men clapping and their proud faces!!! Yeah, this is definitely 10/10 my most FAVORITE ever GoT scene!!! Just beautiful!
~
We jump back out to the courtyard where a very adorable and yet insanely stubborn little Lyanna Mormont is arguing with Jorah about going to the crypts. She pledged to fight for the North and she intends to, so she bids her cousin good fortune and leaves to take her place. Sadly, I think that she will not make it through the battle for Winterfell.
~
Sam has come to give Jorah Heartsbane. This is another very loaded and lovely scene, and my heart is pretty heavy, because I’m not very confident that Jorah will make it out of this battle alive, either. Sam tells him: “your father taught me how to be a man. Taught me how to do what’s right. This is right,” as he presents him the sword. Jorah accepts this heartfelt gesture and declares that he will wield it in his memory, to guard the realms of men.
~
BRYAN COGMAN!!!! I’M COMING FOR YOU FOR MAKING ME CRY ALL DAMN NIGHT!!!!
~
But seriously, the dynamic between Jorah and Sam has just been so beautiful. And all the antis can fuck right off with their shit-talking of this beautiful and wholesome creature that is Samwell Tarly!
~
We jump back to the crew before the hearth who are loathe to call it a night. Tyrion wants a song, and we are treated to Pod’s beautiful rendition of Jenny of Oldstones — and this entire montage is so beautiful, as we see how everyone is prepping for battle, spending their last hours with those they love and saying their goodbyes. The desperation in Missandei and GreyWorm’s very passionate goodbye kiss is extremely moving and makes me think this is probably their final kiss goodbye, and Jorah looks so gallant as he swings ‘round his horse, making his father proud and my heart is just swelling with love and dread and ughhhhhhhh!!!!!
~
At first I was a bit upset that none of the Starks were actually together here, but in my rewatch, I’ve come to understand why a little bit more. It seems as if they’ve all revisited their own life’s journey prior to coming home (in this episode). Jon, on the ramparts with Ghost and his remaining brothers of the Nights Watch. Arya, first sharing a brief moment with the Hound and Beric (brothers without banners), and then with Gendry. Sansa sharing a meal with Theon out in the courtyard in the home that holds both good and traumatic memories for both of them. He redeemed himself through her (as Jon said), and they share a bond of both surviving Ramsay and his horrors.
~
Bryan Cogman did NOT disappoint with this lovely episode, which has been what we will surely look back on as a bittersweet eulogy of sorts to some of the beloved characters we’ve come to know over the years. Yeah, this was beautifully done.
~
Ahhh, and lastly, we delve down into the crypts where Jon stands before the statue of his mother. Dany has very obviously (and understandably) grown tired of being avoided and sought him out. When he acknowledges her presence with a brief glance and a very faint smile, she cautiously moves closer and wraps her arms around him. And yep, here it is—the reveal. I honestly thought he would keep it from her as long as he possibly could, but I guess he figures they might all bite it anyway, so fuck it... (i’m kidding!! Or am i??)
~
Dany is taken aback by his words. She releases a shuddering breath and immediately steps away from him, denying it: that’s impossible. Jon tells her he wishes it were — and I fully believe him. Aside from the full-on identity crisis he’s been experiencing, you all know he has no interest in the Iron Throne... all this man has ever wanted was to protect his home, and the ones he loves.
~
Dany thinks there’s a conspiracy against her between Bran and Sam—and now Jon’s tone and demeanor have changed a bit. He takes a step towards her and insists that it’s true, calling her Dany because it’s informal and personal, and he knows now that she’s his aunt—that means she’s still his family—and I think he’s hoping that they’ll still be able to find some common ground with that.
~
But the fact that she’s found actual family—that she’s not really the last Targaryen alone in the world anymore—doesn’t seem to affect her as much as the fact that Jon is the last male heir of their line, and so therefore his claim for the throne overrides hers. A claim he has expressed no want or intent for, mind you. Maybe he intended to tell her no one would have to know, and he’d never contest her claim if she’d agree to leave the North independent when it’s all said and done... who knows? Certainly not Jon, because it’s clear he’s taken aback by her response here.
~
D - if it were true, it would make you the last male heir of House Targaryen (she grounds out those bolded words through clenched teeth and Kit’s micro expressions are on point—jfc, Watch his eyes!!). You’d have a claim to the iron throne.
~
And with the final utterance of Dany’s last words, the war horns sound. As if that doesn’t seem like a harbinger of Targbowl?!?!
~
But I will say, in my honest and most humble opinion, that his delivery here was all wrong. The way Jon lamented the story, it kind of came off as if it’s something he might have known all along... and therefore she most certainly will feel betrayed at this. Especially considering her earlier conversation with Sansa. Which, the crazy ass irony of it all is, with political!jon, he was actually already betraying her—just not about what she’ll think it was. Did I say that right? lol
~
They join Tyrion on the Ramparts, the dead are here. Jon looks towards Dany, nodding as if to ask if she’s ready, and she storms off ahead of him, anger evident on her face.
~
Ahhhhhhhhh, I’m really scared for Jon here, guys...!!! What are your thoughts?
~
Remember to care for yourselves and stay hydrated as we slug through this hellish week!

The Original Final Season 7 - Episode 1: Family, Duty, Honor
Tumblr media
This is a combination of events from “show canon” and what I believe would have happened in the “Original Final Season 7.”
Should be noted that King’s Landing is gray and not sunny and the weather gets worse as the season progresses. It does not stay sunny at all...because that’s just fucking stupid.
IN THE RIVERLANDS
The episode opens in the same fashion as the show canon 7x01, Arya Stark as Walder Frey, taking out the rest of the Frey men
After walking out of the hall, Arya heads to the dungeons and frees Edmure Tully. Arya tells him what she’s done, the Riverlands belong to House Tully again. Edmure asks what Arya will do now and she says she’s heading back home, her brother Jon is now KITN.
Edmure, honoring the previous pledge he made to House Stark, asks Arya to send his pledge to Jon; the Riverlands will remain under Stark rule, under the King in the North
On her journey North, Arya runs into the Brotherhood Without Banners and the Hound. She’s still pissed at them for what they did to Gendry. As reparation, the Brotherhood decide to accompany Arya to Winterfell to see her safely home
IN THE FAR NORTH
The Winter Winds are rising, the Night King and his massive army of the undead march south...
AT THE WALL
Bran Stark makes it safely south of the Wall with the help of Meera and the Black Brothers.
As Bran’s there, preparing to leave for Winterfell, we notice several of the Black Brothers are in incredibly bad health - either due to illness, lack of supplies, the cold, or some combination.
In looking for medicine/supplies, Lord Commander Edd Tollett comes across some of Sam’s old things, a cloak with a few remaining shards of dragonglass in it AND The Horn of Winter (though Edd doesn’t know what it is)
IN KING’S LANDING
Cersei Lannister - in losing all her allies and discovering news of the Frey massacre, Jon/Sansa ruling the North, and Dany/Tyrion coming to Westeros - becomes more obsessed with the Younger More Beautiful Queen prophecy.
Because Sansa would be Jon’s heir if he dies and therefore QITN, Cersei isn’t certain if the YMBQ is Sansa or Dany, yet is convinced it’s one of them. This is when Cersei tells Qyburn to send word to Jon to come south to bend the knee to her
Cersei tells Jaime of the YMBQ prophecy and he worries for her mental state - having just lost Tommen, their last child...
...Until Qyburn reveals Cersei is pregnant. Cersei is then convinced this means the prophecy was indeed wrong, as she will now have more children than the prophecy foretold of
But, Jaime still worries about her as her actions and emotions are all over the place
IN OLDTOWN
Samwell Tarly finds out about the dragonglass on Dragonstone and writes to Jon
Sam also has his argument with Archmaester Ebros about the Army of the Dead, after which he steals the books from the Restricted Section of the library
IN WINTERFELL
Jon Snow receives Cersei’s raven scroll about “suffering the fate of all traitors”
Jon also receives word from Sam about the dragonglass on Dragonstone.
Petry Baelish informs Jon and Sansa that he’s heard rumor Daenerys Targaryen is on her way to Westeros with Tyrion Lannister and Lord Varys at her side, along with the allegiance of several key regions of Westeros - Dorne, The Reach, The Iron Islands - he says she will likely land on Dragonstone
Before Jon and Sansa can process this information or weigh its pros and cons, they’re informed of someone at the gate:
Bran has arrived. Jon and Sansa are beside themselves with joy, (Bran is not robo Bran, he’s normal Bran), Jon tells Bran “You’ve finally made it back home…” CUT TO:
ON DRAGONSTONE
Daenerys Targaryen arrives in Westeros, she’s finally made it back home as well
The title of the episode comes from Arya’s rescuing Edmure and getting revenge for her mother’s death by killing all the Freys. We’ve had many episodes named after house words, but never House Tully so this finally honors them. It’s also the theme of the episode.
Episode 1 Inside the Episode: Family, Duty, Honor
1a) The Cold Open - Arya kills all the Freys:
Yes, I know the original Cold Open of 7x01 show canon was the White Walkers, but I’m assuming D&D would have made the same executive decision in post to swap that scene with this one because it’s so badass. So there you go.
1b) Arya heading home immediately:
Back in 6x10 Arya tells Jaqen that she’s Arya Stark of Winterfell and she’s going home. So why did she head to the Riverlands first to kill the Freys, just to want to go back south to kill Cersei?
Such bullshit. Arya wanted to go home. And if she thought the Boltons still had Winterfell, she’d want to kill them too. She’s a faceless assassin. They killed her mother and brother. She’d want them dead as much as Walder Frey. She snuck into the Twins, a place she’s never been, to kill them all. Winterfell, her home, would be a piece of cake to take from the Boltons. And geographically, it makes sense for her to continue heading North after the Twins anyway. Otherwise why not kill Cersei in King’s Landing first, then head North to the Riverlands, then finally home to Winterfell, where she told Jaqen she was going? Cersei might have always been on Arya’s list, but in 6x10, Arya wanted to go back to Winterfell. That should have remained her plan. D&D retconned this to delay Arya’s return to Winterfell in S7 for their idiotic Starkbowl plot. Which we all know was pointless filler because they had split the seasons and added three extra episodes.
And side note: Of course Arya would meet up with the Brotherhood. We know they’re in the Riverlands (based on them staying at that house with the father and daughter Sandor had previously screwed over). They had to meet up. It’s stupid that they didn’t in canon.
1c) Edmure pledging to Jon:
This one is a no-brainer. Of course the Riverlands would side with the North in the war against Cersei (which hasn’t happened yet, but with Jon being declared KITN, it’s only a matter of time). This move makes Jon the King of ALL the Northernmost Kingdoms and puts him in a really really powerful position - and an appealing position for any single ladies out there looking to secure an alliance *cough*Dany*cough*.
2) Sam’s raven:
Jon should have gotten word from Sam about the dragonglass in 7x01. Anyone who regularly reads my metas should remember, I have mentioned several times that the timing of Jon’s receipt of Sam’s raven is off. Sam sends Jon the raven in 7x01. Tyrion sends Jon a raven in 7x02. But Jon receives Tyrion’s raven first so, nope. Huge tip-off of a retcon. Jon should have gotten Sam’s raven first.
3) Baelish being the one to tell the Starks about Daenerys going to Dragonstone:
This another no-brainer and we already had hints of this in 7x07 show canon. Baelish has been keeping tabs on Dany, he just doesn’t ever get to really show this. “I’ve heard the dragon queen is quite beautiful.” Just as Qyburn had info on Drogon being injured in the fighting pits of Meereen, Baelish should have information on Daenerys, her advisors, and her movements. Why would he know she’s beautiful, but not know anything else about her when this is his primary function in the series?
Baelish, like Sam, Varys, and Bran, is an “information guy”. His job is to know things and inform the other characters, mostly to his own benefit. So Baelish having knowledge of Dany heading for Dragonstone, as Cersei had this knowledge in 7x01, just makes sense. And this way, when Tyrion sends the raven to Dragonstone next episode, it will be something Jon has been anticipating, because of course the first thing Dany will want to do when reaching Westeros, is gain more allies and allying with the North makes the most sense.
4) Cersei’s onset of madness:
We know this was where the plot was supposed to go, what with the miscarriage from 7x07 and everything. Cersei has already mentioned the YMBQ prophecy to Jaime before, telling him about how she knew their children would all die and that he couldn’t have stopped Myrcella’s death.
With Tommen’s death still fresh in mind, it would make sense this prophecy would come up again. Season 7 Cersei really doesn’t need much of a push into madness and her obsessing over this prophecy, especially with Dany on her way to Westeros, is a natural progression for her character. At the end of S6, D&D promised us that a Cersei without her children would be “very dangerous” and it was never delivered to us. A prophecy-obsessed Cersei would definitely deliver.
5) And finally, Castle Black:
We were so fucked out of seeing more of the Night’s Watch in the last two seasons in show canon. Edd finding the Horn of Winter in Sam’s old room will be incredibly important and be a final, long awaited pay-off for the scene from Season 2 in which Sam first discovered the dragonglass at the Fist of the First Men, when the horn was first shown to the audience.
Aaaaaand that’s it for Episode 1! I know it’s short and for the most part looks very similar to show canon, so I will post Episode 2 as well today, though you guys will have to wait until next week for Episode 3.

Heat of Winter - Jon Snow
Hello! so this is my second entry to @justauthoring ‘s 14k challenge, this time with Jon Snow.
Good new, this has got me back on my writing roll. I have a little something new with a certain Bucky... ;) Stay tuned for details
Pairing: Jon Snow x reader
Prompt: Right now, I don't know if I want to kiss you or shove you off a bridge
Word count: 2093
Warnings: one (1) bad word, that’s it. Kissing if you don’t like that
A/N: That’s the last GoT on that blog I promise
Tumblr media
The last years have been hard.
In between Lord Stark being executed, Theon taking Winterfell, the Boltons then claiming it as their own and Sansa's less than ideal homecoming, you had lost all hope to see better days ahead.
Seeing Sansa at Ramsay's mercy was particularly rough. You had powerless against so much violence done to someone you knew was the rightful ruler of the castle, and it tore you apart. You had managed to become her handmaiden the day you decided to at least try and do something, at the risk of being fleeted yourself. She had been surprised to see you were even alive after all that time, but she had welcomed a friend.
You had noticed how much she had changed since the last time the North had her. Then came the candle incident, which you had insisted you'd be the one to go and light it up. Sansa had refused, saying she couldn't risk losing her only friend there. Ensued a total disaster, which had immediately chained up with the escape.
You had been ready to take the hounds' teeth to protect Sansa, but rescue came before it could happen. That's how you ended up riding alongside Sansa, Brienne and Podrick toward Castle Black to find Jon.
"I can't believe I would have ever said that, but..." Sansa began, as you were riding a few paces behind Brienne, a few ahead of Pod. "I can't wait to see Jon again"
"I do remember a time where it wouldn't have even been an option" You said softly, a sad smile on your lips. "It seems ages away"
"Yeah" She sighed, tightening up her elbows to her body. Then, she masked her grim expression with a small grin. "What about you?"
"What about me?" You raised an eyebrow.
"How do you feel about seeing Jon again?" She asked mischievously, showing a slight spark of welcomed childishness.
You didn't know what to answer her. You were feeling relieved, happy and a bit excited to see him again. But there was also the nervousness, as you had drastically changed--as well as him, most probably--and were far away from the naive children you were when you parted ways.
"I don't know" You admitted, side eyeing her. Your gloved fingers flexed on the reins to both warm up and manage the nervousness that suddenly crashed over you. "I mean, it's been years. I'm not the me he knew, and he probably won't be the Jon I knew"
"Mmmh" She acknowledged your reflexion. "Is it true that you kissed in the barn the night before he left for the watch?"
You felt your cheeks burn hot enough to warm your entire body as you casted your glance straight ahead. It was indeed true, but you didn't think anyone had seen you. It was the most intimate moment you had shared with Jon, which you had held on to when things got the hardest, and you managed to get though them because you had clinched to the idea of him. But at the same time, you refused to set your heart up to some expectations. What if you didn't like the Jon you saw, or he didn't like the you he saw? You had to protect yourself, because no one else could.
"I think..." You trailed off, avoiding eye contact. "I think I'll see how things go. And then I'll know if I do. Or don't"
"That's wise" She nodded.
You only hummed as an answer and a comfortable silence set over you. Only the crunch of the snow under the hooves and the frequent snorts of the horses could be heard, but you welcomed the peace for the time being.
Soon enough, the wall could be seen. Then, the structure of Castle Black. Your heart did somersault in your chest, and one look at Sansa told you the same thing was happening to her.
The nightmare was finally over. You were both safe.
The gates opened and Brienne went in first, followed by Sansa, then you and Pod. You dismounted and helped the men take care of the horses along with Pod while Brienne remained close to Sansa. When you finally turned around, Sansa was in a tight embrace with whom was without a doubt Jon. Even if you couldn't see his face, the black curls sold him out instantly. That, and the fact that Sansa wouldn't hug anybody else like that but family.
The picture warmed your heart. It was such an unlikely sight, but it was right. Bastard or not, it didn't matter anymore. There was only family, and Jon was her only family left.
But then, it was like the world had stopped. Before you could realize, their moment was over, and his eyes landed on you. You couldn't help but take in his entire appearance, from the new scars on his face to the obvious muscles he had built over time. His hair, once boyishly free was pulled back in a bun, and the naivety he possessed was definitely gone. New feelings came crashing over you. It wasn't puppy love like you once shared, that was certain. No, this time, whatever you felt as he was staring you down, it wasn't innocent. Neither was his glance, to be honest. It was raw and wild, and you were into it.
You both took a few steps closer at the same time, then had a silent hesitation as for who would cross the remaining distance. He finally took the matter in his own hands and carefully approached you.
"(Y/N)..." His husky voice calling your name sent shivers down your spine. "You're alive"
"I am" It was the only thing you could say without messing up. Your heart was beating so fast, you thought it made explode. "And you are too"
"Aye" He replied after a flash of pain crossed his eyes. "Thank you. For helping Sansa"
"I had to do something" You replied after clearing your throat. "The North remembers"
He nodded, never taking his eyes away from yours. You felt entranced in his glance, and you never wanted to get out. Suddenly, he brought you in a careful embrace. You didn't resist, you only rested your forehead on his shoulder and exhaled in relief. You were estranged to feeling safe, but this felt like it.
"I'm glad to see you again" You muttered, but you know he had heard. You gently pulled away and took his hand instead, giving it a small squeeze. "I suppose we'll both have a lot to catch up to"
He gave a dry chuckle and shook his head. "You have no idea" He said, a tiny smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"I'll..." You swallowed hard as you let his hand slip away from yours. You had felt warmth while close to him, but now reality caught up to you and you noticed you were freezing cold. "I'll go check on Sansa"
"I'll see you at dinner?" He asked, a bit of hope in his voice.
"Yes" You gave him a smile. "See you there"
/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/
Dinner was an awkward affair. You almost didn't talk; you kept your eyes casted down on your meals and only replied if talked to. In fact, there was nothing you wished to say in front of Jon's friends. You didn't feel at ease to go down memory lane in front of everyone, especially with the way you and Jon left off last time.
It was only when you were sitting around the fire after nightfall, and after Sansa left to go to sleep that the atmosphere changed in between you and Jon. You pulled your cloak tighter around yourself and stared at the fire.
"So" You began. "Dying uh? Your story is definitely way more messed up than mine"
He chuckled at that. "I don't think it's a competition at this point" He glanced at you. "None of us had it easy, as it seems"
"I'll drink to that" You lifted your cup and drank the bitter ale. "You know, I had no idea what to expect of Lord Commander Snow"
You wiggled your eyebrows at him, and he scoffed playfully. "You didn't?"
"What if you had become one of these stuck-up lords, thinking you're so above everyone else?" You suggested dramatically, and he laughed. It didn't sound like you remembered; it was a lot more hollow, but you took it. It was good to see the corner of his eyes crinkle in laughter again.
"You really thought I could have been that?" He asked, and you had no idea if he was asking it genuinely or not.
"Of course not" You replied softly. "I know you could never"
His smile turned fond, and he stared at you long enough to make you meet his eyes. "Are you disappointed? With what you found?"
"Quite the opposite, actually" You admitted. "Although, actually, there is just one thing..."
His expression became confused when you reached behind his head and undid the tie that held his hair. Black curls came cascading down his face, and you giggled.
"I was very disappointed not to see that handsome mane" You clarified with a grin.
"You've always liked it, didn't you?" The smile suddenly returned.
"I did" You agreed before glancing longingly back to the flames. "You were always the most handsome boy in Winterfell"
"You must be thinking of Robb here" He was quick to deflect.
"I'm not" You shook your head, turning your attention back to him. "You know I'm not. Do you remember the first time we met?"
"Aye, you tripped on your dress and spilled your bucket of water" He teased.
"Yeah!" You nodded. "That was because I couldn't tear my eyes off of you"
"I took the longest time to understand you went out of your way to see me" He sighed. "And then I had to leave"
"You were so sure you were never coming back to me than we never made plans for what came after" You then said with a hint of nostalgia. "But here we are"
"Technically, I did not come back to you" He pointed out, and your heart momentarily stopped. Did he not like you anymore? "You came to me"
His joke settled in and you gasped, lightly hitting his shoulder. "You can't say this like that!" You exclaimed through a laugh.
"Sorry" He apologized with a shit eating grin.
"Right now, I don't know if I want to kiss you or shove you off a bridge" You scoffed playfully.
He looked around, then gave you an innocent look. "There's no bridge around here"
"So now you're playing smartass?" You retorted. "When did you get that sense of humour?"
"They sell it North of the Wall" He said with a straight face, making you break into a giggle. A short silence then settled, letting the fire be the only noise in the night.
"So" He spoke up again, quieter this time. "If there's no bridge, I guess there is only one option left"
Your breath caught in your throat at the suggestion of his words, surprised once again by the boldness of his words. The Jon you had known would never have dared. But oddly, as much as it was his shyness that had charmed you years ago, it was now his rawness that attracted you.
"Are we really doing this?" You asked in a mutter.
"I'm tired of losing" He said. "I can win. I wanna win, just this time"
You felt your heart pound against your ribcage in anticipation. It was what you had been waiting for since he left. "Then let's win, just this time"
You closed the distance and joined your lips to his. It started out slow, but escalated to urgent and needy soon enough. It was rougher than last time, but you noticed he was a better kisser. You then pulled back, dazed and dishevelled, and rested your forehead against his to take your breath back.
"This feels just like home"
"Aye" He agreed. "Just like in that barn"
"I wish we could have kissed more that day" You admitted. "It was good"
"Then we have some catching up to do, don't you think?" The corner of his lips lifted in a half smile, before his lips came crashing back on your own.
Maybe all of your lives took a dramatic turn in the last years, but at that moment, all the hardships were forgotten and replaced by warmth and safety. You were finally reunited with Jon.

Joffrey was always a little shit. Ever since that kid could utter his first word, he had been a little shit. With every name day that passed, Joffrey only became more wicked, and around his tenth birthday was when he really started getting creative. It was at this point that his mother had hired The Hound to protect the little prince. While Sandor was never fond of the little shit, the Queen paid him well, so he never once complained.
Upon the royal family’s visit to Winterfell following Jon Arryn’s death, Sandor met the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She wasn’t like the other Northern girls, she was radiant in every way. Joffrey hadn’t let The Hound’s stare escape him. The second night in Winterfell, the Starks held a banquet. Little Prince Joffrey insisted that this woman approach the royal table. Standing behind the prince, The Hound watched with a stiff back. Everyone looked on as the prince humiliated this poor girl for no reason other than to torture The Hound.
That night, The Hound sought out the girl to apologize for the prince’s behavior. He found her weeping in a barn, all alone. His tall shadow caught her attention, and she stopped immediately. Upon laying eyes on her again, he had forgotten why he was there. Suddenly, he wasn’t there to apologize for the prince, or for anyone but for himself.
A month after returning to King’s Landing, The Hound still hadn’t forgotten about the girl he met in Winterfell. That day, one of the Spider’s little birds led him to Littlefinger's brothel inside the capitol. There, Lord Varys and Lord Baelish sat at a table, dining and drinking with a familiar face. The girl from Winterfell had followed The Hound to King’s Landing with the hope of seeing him again and thanking him for his kindness that night.
It made The Hound uncomfortable that the Spider and Littlefinger knew about her. But it was only a matter of time. The lord of whispers and master of coin knew everything about everyone in the capitol. The two men left, and the girl finally got to thank The Hound.
“My name’s Sandor,” he told her later that day. “Hound is just a title, just like knight or lord.”
She looked up at him with a smile, “I like it. Sandor. It suits you.”
He glanced away to hide his face. He was ashamed of his scars more so in that moment than ever before in his life. In front of a woman so beautiful, he felt so hideous. But she didn’t see him that way. She saw him as handsome and brave. When she insisted he never hide his face from her, he told her the story of how he got the scars. She joked that she would kill The Mountain herself for what he had done. Sandor chuckled at that. How he wished so badly for the day when his brother would be slain.
“He’ll pay for what he did to you. No one deserves to feel as you do. Never hide your scars, they’re what makes you special.”
Special. She saw him as special and not disgusting as so many did. He couldn’t believe that some girl from the North saw him like that— some girl that he had fallen for the moment he laid eyes on her.
A year passed, and the Spider and Littlefinger kept their promises. The secret of the Northern girl living in the brothel had not once slipped their tongues. She was no whore for Littlefinger to sell, instead she was his “maid” and “secretary”. To keep her close to the castle where Sandor was, Littlefinger brought her along to meetings. They had daily walks in the gardens to maintain the appearance for whatever Queen Cersei's spies assumed. It was only the four of them that knew the truth. All that Cersei and the others knew was that this Northern girl was brought down with the traitor Ned Stark, and Littlefinger took a liking to her. No one knew what happened when it was just Sandor and her in the brothel together.
King Joffrey had called for a court gathering in mid afternoon. All of the lords and ladies in King’s Landing flocked to the throne room before the king. At his side was his mother and The Hound. Sandor stiffened when he saw her enter at Littlefinger’s side. He saw Cersei watching them carefully, and he tried his hardest not to reveal himself.
The throne room was quiet as Joffrey looked around. Everyone lowered their heads and silently prayed that it wasn’t them that the king was looking for. No one wanted to be his next toy. “You,” his voice echoed. Everyone looked up to see him pointing to the girl beside Littlefinger. “Come. Approach your king.” She looked to Littlefinger who gave a slight nod. Everyone looked on as she stepped forward. As she bowed, he stood from the Iron Throne. “You look familiar. Where are you from?”
“Winterfell, Your Grace.”
“Winterfell?” The king thought for a moment, and then he laughed. Everyone followed with silent chuckled. He fell silent, and so did everyone else. “You’re the bitch my dog liked.” He looked to The Hound who watched with no emotion, “Do you recognize her, dog?”
“No, Your Grace,” The Hound said.
“What are you doing in King’s Landing?” he asked the girl.
“I work for Lord Baelish, Your Grace,” she responded.
“You’re a whore, then?”
The Hound’s grip tightened around the hilt of his sword. “No, Your Grace. I keep his books and maintain the whore house. I attend meetings and take notes for him, and make sure that he attends all of his meetings at a timely manner.”
“A whore is much more interesting,” the king laughed. “Dog, won’t you show Lord Baelish’s whore to my chamber?”
“Your Grace—” Littlefinger tried to stop the king.
The girl stood and looked at the young king, “Your Grace, I am no whore, I sleep with no man or woman for coin. And if it would please Your Grace, he is The Hound, not a dog, you should respect him as such. He protects you from any and all dangers, including the traitor Ned Stark. You should be more kind to The Hound.”
The Queen Regent stood, “How dare you!”
The king stopped his mother. “I like this one,” he smirked. “Hound, make sure that the lady from the North and Lord Baelish make it home safely. We shall be seeing each other again very soon, my lady, and more privately, I shall assume.”
“My King, won’t you punish this whore for her insolence?” the Queen Regent insisted.
The Hound stepped forward. “The King has given his command. I shall see them through the city, you have my word.” The Queen Regent sent a look to The Hound. “Come on,” he pushed the woman along, as he would with anyone else. Lord Baelish bowed to the king and the Queen Regent before following The Hound and Joffrey’s new favorite toy out of the throne room.
As the doors closed, and it was safe to talk, Sandor turned to her, “Are you fuckin’ insane?” he barked. “That’s the fuckin’ king. He’ll take your head just for shits and giggles. I can handle myself, there’s no need to talk back to him.”
“He’s a child, Sandor—”
“A very powerful, blood thirsty child. He’d rather see you bleed and bruise than get a look at your cunt. Don’t ever do that again, do you understand?” She nodded. “Good. Come on, before one of the queen’s spies sees us.”
“I’m sorry, Sandor. I’m sorry,” she put his hand over his. Littlefinger looked around. The walls had ears and eyes, it wasn’t safe. He insisted they do this elsewhere. Neither of them listened to him. “I didn’t mean to upset you.”
Sandor looked at her, and found comfort in her eyes. “I don’t want to see your head up there on a spike. I’d throw myself from the highest tower if that ever happened. Don’t let yourself get killed, alright? That’s all I ask.”
“Alright.” She slid her hand away from his, and the three of them hurried away from the castle before they could be seen.

Lost dragon finale
Tumblr media
A/N- I know it’s long But i didn’t want to write another chapter... this is the final chapter I hoped you guys enjoyed this series as much as I enjoyed writing it!! :)
Warning- none really
Episode- 8x06
Pairing- Podrick Payne
-
We waited months to see Jon and Tyrion after they were inprisoned. All the lords and Lady’s of the great houses were gathered to discuss the fate of the inprisoned and the fate of Kingslanding. I loved reuniting with my cousin Arianne after not seeing her for years.
Greyworm came out and I noticed that only Tyrion was with him.
“Where’s Jon?” Sansa asked Greyworm also noticing that Jon was not brought like he was supposed to.
“He’s our prisoner.” Greyworm responded.
“So is lord Tyrion they were both to be brought to this gathering.”
“We will decide what to do with our prisoners. This is our city now.” Greyworm told Sansa bluntly. I just rolled my eyes.
“If you look outside the walls of your city you’ll see thousands of north man who will explain why harming Jon Snow is not in your interest.” Sansa threatened him but that didn’t cause him to react.
“Along with the golden company and dornish army.” Even If I didn’t see her I knew Sansa had a smirk on her face when I pitched in. Jon was also my brother even If I haven’t known him as long as they have he’s still my brother.
“And you will find a thousand of unsullied who believe that it is.” Greyworm said giving Sansa and me a glare.
“Some of you may be quick to forgive the ironborn are not. I swore to follow Daenerys Targaryen.”
“You swore to follow a tyrant.” Sansa said inturrpeting Yara. That comment that Sansa made did make me slightly mad. I knew what she did was a bad thing I know but she was still my family.
“She freed us from a tyrant. Cersei is gone because of her and Jon snow put a knife in her heart! Let the unsullied give him what he deserves.” Yara snapped.
“Say another word about killing my brother and I’ll cut your throat.” Arya threantend Yara finally shutting her up. Finally. Ser Davos tried to reason with Greyworm but it went how I expected. I knew Greyworm and the unsullied weren’t just get a piece of land and call it even, no. They want justice for Daenerys.
“Jon committed his crime here, his fate is for our king to decide... or our Queen.” Tyrion spoke out.
“We don’t have a king or queen.” One of the lords said.
“You’re the most powerful people in Westeros....choose one.” Tyrion told all of us.
“Make your choice then.” Greyworm said to us. I rested my hands on my very pregnant belly and looked around at all the us of gathered to see who was going to speak up first. It was quiet at first until a lord from riverrun spoke up but he was later told to sit down by Sansa. I wanted to laugh at the way she did that but I held it in not finding it quite appropriate for me to do so. I always did like the Starks and this was one of the reasons. Sam tried to tell us that we should let the people decide but that idea didn’t go well everyone didn’t take it seriously and we all laughed at it like it was some funny joke.
“Who then?” Ser Davos asked Tyrion after he had said that him being king was the worst idea because of who supported.
“I have had nothing to do but think these past few weeks about our bloody history. About the mistakes we’vemade.” Tyrion paused for a moment and slowly walked closer to all us. “What unites people, armies, gold, flags, stories there’s nothing in the world more powerful then a good story, nothing can stop it, no enemy can defeat it and who had a better story than Visenya the Beloved.” All eyes were on me now. I shifted in my seat. I was about to say something but I decided to let Tyrion finish.
“The girl who survived the sacking of kings landing. Went into hiding in Dorne because people wanted her dead. And that’s what everyone thought for so many years. She crossed the narrow sea, not to gain armies or to take over cities but to find the only family she thought she had left. And in that short time she accomplished a lot. She was loved by the people of Meereen not because of her name but because of her self. She helped those in need just like she did here. She fought for the north when she had no reason too. She could’ve taken a dragon and came here first but she wanted to fight by for what was right.....she’s saved me from people who have wanted to kill me when she had every reason to let them and or kill me herself..... she fought and fought... and she saved people because she didn’t want the people to suffer the same fate as her family once did. The people here think of her as a savior. The dragon princess who saved them from the dragon queen... she’s the very few of the Targaryens that people love.....who better to lead us to the future.” Tyrion explained.
I was lost for words I couldn’t speak. I looked over at Podrick who was right next to me. He only smiled and squeezed my hand.
“That is the wheel our Queen wanted to break.....from now on rulers will not be born they will be chosen on this spot by the lords and ladies of Westeros to serve the realm.....I know you don’t want it, i know you don’t care about power but I ask you now if we choose you will you wear the crown. Will you lead the seven kingdoms to the best of your abilities from this day until your last day.”
“I will.” I told Tyrion with a warm smile and tears in my eyes. I may not want the crown but it’s never about what we want is it.
“To Visenya of house Targaryen and Martell I say I.” Tyrion said. Arianne was the first one to say “I” followed by Gendry and sam and then the rest followed except for Sansa. She turned and looked over at me.
“I know we may not know eachother well but I do respect you not because we’re friends but because of what you’ve done you’ll be a great Queen but ten of thousand of north men fell in the Great War defending all of Westeros and those who survived have seen so much and fought to hard ever to kneel again. The north will remain an independent kingdom as it was for thousands of years.” Sansa told me. I nodded in agreement. Only because I heard how hard they have fought especially how hard she has fought for her home.
“All hail Visenya the Beloved first of her name, Queen of the Andals and first men, Lady of the six Kingdoms and protector of the realm.” Tyrion announced.
“All hail Visenya the Beloved!” The others then stood up and said at the same time. Tyrion bowed his head and then started to leave but before he did I stopped him.
“Lord Tyrion.” At the sound of his name he stopped and looked over at me. “You will be my hand.” I told him. I trust no one else beside him to be my hand.
“No your grace I don’t want it.”
“And I don’t want to be queen.”
“I don’t deserve it, i thought I was wise but I wasn’t I thought I knew was right but I didn’t. Chose Ser Davos choose anyone.”
“You cannot.” Greyworm said to me. I only furrowed my eyebrows.
“But I can.” I stated to him with a glare.
“This man is a criminal he deserves justice.”
“He just got it, he’s made many terrible mistakes, he’s going to spend the rest of life fixing them.”
“It is not enough.”
-
I stood further away from the docks where the stark siblings were both of us waiting for Jon to come out. I didn’t want to stand by them because it was going to be there own moment with their brother and I didn’t want to be in the way of that. When Jon finally came out he walked over to me he looked a little suprised on seeing me because last time we saw one another I didn’t even show and because he didn’t even know I was with child and now I was about to explode.
“Your grace.” He said while he took knee in front of me.
“Please Jon there’s no need for that.” I told him while I extended my hand to help him up. He took it and stood up.
“I’m sorry for what I did please forgive me.” He said with a deep frown. Even if he didn’t exactly say her name I knew he was talking about her.
“There’s nothing to forgive Jon.... I was going to do the same thing.” I told him with a frown. I looked over at the sea and then back to him. “You know that Greyworm and the rest of unsullied are leaving right? They’re never going to come back So that means you don’t really have to go.” I told him with a small smile. He chuckled slightly.
“It’s what’s right and plus I don’t want you to go into war if he found out.” He said sincerely. Even if I tried to argue with him to stay and not go to the wall I knew I wouldn’t win he was too stubborn.
“Well if you ever get tired of being up there then you’re welcome to come back anytime you want or even go to the north it is an independent kingdom after all.” I said. It got quiet for a couple seconds between the both of us.
“I know we didn’t know eachother long both as siblings or as friends but I’m glad I got to meet you.” He said to me with a small smile.
“I’m glad I know you too Jon... thank you for everything.” We then gave one another hug and when we broke apart he looked down at my belly.
“Take care of yourself and of your little one...write to me after it’s born.”
“I will.. bye Jon.”
“Bye Visenya.”
-
After being crowned I named Ser Brienne as the First Lady commander of the Queen’s guard in the six kingdoms. And she knighted Podrick after. I also named Bran stark master of whisperers. Some of the golden company stayed in Kingslanding but a lot of them stayed. And Harry Strickland became part of the queens guard.
Podrick and I also got married after I was crowned because we didn’t find it apprioate to get married before with everything going on. So that made him a Ser and a King which his friend Bronn teases him for. Before I was crowned though the baby was born. A girl. Rhae Targaryen . She had the prettiest brown eyes and dark hair. Podrick wanted to take my name instead of me have his, he said something about, after me hiding my name for so long that he didn’t want me to hide it no more.
My sigil instead of being three dragon heads is now a dragon around a sun with a spear in between it. Signifying my two houses.
-
“Your grace.” The members of the small council said as I entered the room. I still find it weird that they call me that. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it.
“We seem to be missing a master of law.” I told them as I took seat on the far end of the table.
“Yes your grace a suitable prosepect will be brought to you for an audience in the coming weeks.” Tyrion responded.
“And drogon any word?” I asked.
“He was last spotted flying east towards vola—”
“The farther away the better.” Bronn inturrpted Sam.
“Perhaps I can find him due carry on.” Bran said and then he was taken out of the room.
“Ser Bronn of Blackwater, Lord of high garden, lord paramount of the reach and master of coin would you say that crowns debt to you has been payed?” Tyrion asked Bronn. I raised my eyebrow waiting for a response.
“At full my lord hand and your grace.”
“Good time to start incurring a new one. We have hungry people to feed can we expect some assitance in this regard?” I asked Bronn.
“Indeed we can.”
“Lord Davos we have an armada to rebuild ports to repair.” Tyrion said.
“ we have these projects will begin as soon as the master of coin and lofty titles provides funding.” Ser Davos said directing his comment to Bronn.
“The master of coin looks forward to helping the master of ships but first he has to ensure we’re not wasting coin or soon there won’t be no more coin.”
“Anymore.” Lord Davos corrected Bronn.
“You master of grammar now too.” Bronn responded causing me to laugh a bit.
“Grand maester it is my theory that on my years of work on Castrly rock sewers that clean water takes lead healthier population.” Tyrion told Sam.
“The archmaester has done some research on this subject and it turns out—.”
“The strong live and the weak don’t.” Bronn said not letting sam finish.
“Find the best builders and set them to the task.” Tyrion said.
“Master of war how are we doing on rebuilding our army?” I asked looking over at Daario. I didn’t trust anyone else beside Daario to be master of war. He was commander of the second sons and he’s a great fighter. He was loyal to Daenerys and even if he was devastated by the news he still thought it would be honor to serve by my side.
“We’re getting there I brought some of the second sons here so that means that they’re joining and some of the golden company have joined too we’re still working to add more soilders. We will train them hard so they can be the best army.”
“Good.”
“Speaking of builders all the best brothels burned down the master of coin is willing to fund reconstruction.” Bronn said.
“The arch maester is less than enthusiastic about the salutary affect of brothels.”
“I imagine he isn’t using them properly.”
“I think we can all take agree ships take precedence over brothels.”
“I think that’s a very presumptions statement.”
“I once brought a jackass and a honeycomb into a brothel.”
“Oo you never did finish that joke.”
Visenya ruled gracefully and well over the span of ten years until she stepped down from the throne and went back to Sunspear with her husband Podrick. Where they enjoyed their time in the water gardens and everything Dorne had to offer. They ended up having five more kids over the span of those ten years. They both lived very happy lives togther the knight and the princess. She got what she always wanted. A family of her own filled with love. She got what her parents didn’t have. She got love. In her life she thought she was lost with nowhere to go. If she wanted to seek revenge or if she wanted fire and blood. She didn’t know what she wanted or where to go.... but she later figured out that she didn’t want revenge or a fight no. She was never lost she was always where she needed to be.

The archive team goes out for drinks and they do not have a very good time. Jon is denied his vices. Daisy makes a promise. Basira doesn't even drink; why did they drag her here??? Cws: suicidal ideation, alcohol, smoking
---
"What is that, your fifth? Are you alright?"
Jon frowns into his drink, a rum and coke, "Sixth, actually."
Daisy sucks in air through her teeth and takes another swig of her beer, "No dice, then? That blows." She laughs then, as if at an inside joke with herself.
"It's—I mean, it's not that I don't feel it. That's almost the worst part. It's like all the bad parts of being drunk but without any of the numbing or—or euphoria. I'm still perfectly aware, but it's like—like squinting through a fog. I feel sick."
He takes another careful sip as Daisy studies him curiously.
"Why d'you keep going, then?"
Jon shrugs, "It's what you do at a bar, isn't it?"
Daisy cuts her eyes at him and then finishes her beer in one long pull, "Oh, good lord," she croaks when she comes up for air, "Give me that."
She snatches his drink and staggers off to the bar.
Basira slides into the seat next to him, then, back from the toilet. She's looked distinctly uncomfortable since they all arrived, and he can't really blame her.
"Everything okay?" Jon asks anyway.
Basira gives him a withering look, "Sure."
Daisy comes back from the bar, then, and slams an ice water down on the table in front of Jon, splashing it across the front of his shirt.
"Drink," Daisy commands.
Jon is not in the habit of arguing with Daisy when she's sober, let alone while she's drunk, so he sips it obediently, grabbing a napkin with which to dab at his sweater.
"Honestly, you're like a teenager," Daisy grunts, drinking Jon's appropriated rum and coke, "You just go out of your way to make yourself miserable—if you don't like drinking, then don't drink. Use that big important brain of yours for once."
A sharp spike of irritation goes through him at this, "You were the one who dragged us here, Daisy. Basira doesn't even drink."
"Jon," says Basira, and Daisy sighs.
She slides into the seat across the table and puts her chin in her hands.
"You're right. This was a mistake."
Jon blinks. Daisy sounds much less intoxicated than she did just a moment ago.
"None of us ought to be drinking. Least of all that one," Daisy jerks her thumb across the room at Melanie, dancing off-beat amidst a crowd of other drunk revelers.
"At least she seems to be having fun," Jon grumbles, drinking his ice water. He is feeling a bit less nauseated, at least—not that he would admit that to Daisy.
She looks almost contrite, to her credit, "Maybe next time we'll just go for a bite to eat."
Jon and Basira scoff at the same time and then glance at each other in vague reproach. Daisy presses her lips into a line, clearly trying not to laugh.
Jon stands abruptly, then, trying to hide the sway in his step, "I'm going to have a cigarette, if anyone needs me." He adds under his breath, "If some monster doesn't snap me up."
"Jon," Daisy calls, but he's already turned away.
---
Jon is halfway through his cigarette when Daisy slumps onto the bench beside him.
He wordlessly offers a light, but she waves him off.
"Oh, absolutely not. You know what that stuff does to your body."
He laughs, "Yes. I'm not so much worried about it anymore."
Daisy frowns at him.
Jon shrugs, "The way I see it is: either it can't hurt me, or if it does, then what's the real harm? One less monster, and all that."
There's a long silence, then, and Jon is about to apologize for being maudlin when Daisy mutters, "Fuck you."
"Excuse me?"
Before Jon can react, Daisy reaches over and plucks the cigarette right out of his hand, dropping it on the pavement and crushing it out under the heel of her boot.
"Daisy!"
"Just because you're suicidal doesn't mean you have to rub it in everyone's faces."
Jon freezes, gobsmacked, "I—I'm not—what? Daisy—"
"Shut up," she hisses, "You think you're turning into a monster—how terrible. I am one. You've seen me. And I'm fighting tooth and nail every moment not to fall back into that place. Because I deserve to die, not you, Jon. What have you ever done?"
"I…"
"I've done plenty. I've been to hell, and I'm not going back."
"Daisy—"
"Don't say anything that'll make me want to kill you again."
Jon swallows.
Daisy looks at him sideways, "It's a joke."
"Right. Your jokes aren't very funny," it comes out hoarse, but Daisy cracks a grin.
"Look who's talking."
There's a long, tense silence as both of them study the pavement.
Jon sighs, "Why are you doing this, Daisy? Why do you care?"
"That's an odd word to use."
"Would you call it inaccurate?"
She ponders this. "No. Maybe over-simple. But...you're my friend."
"I'm wh—"
"You're also a dangerous bastard, and I'm watching you. I'm not—" she hesitates, rubs a hand over her face, "I'm not going to let you go where I went, Jon. If you do, I'll—I'm going to stop you. Like I did all the others. No matter what it does to me," she smiles, and there's something broken in it.
Jon nods slowly, "I…honestly, thank you, Daisy. That's all I can ask for, really."
She squints at him, "You realize I just promised to kill you, right?"
Jon pinches the bridge of his nose, "I—yes, Daisy, I had sussed it out," he throws up his hands in exasperation, "Why, is this another of your 'jokes'?"
Daisy snorts, "No. I am serious. Just wasn't sure you were really that keen on dying. Almost makes me feel bad."
"I'm not!" It comes out too sharp, indignant. Jon clears his throat, "I mean—I'm just—scared. Daisy, I'm scared. I don't want to become—"
"You haven't. Not yet."
"What?"
"You haven't even hurt anyone—not anyone who was ever a person, anyway—so calm down. You're so soft, Jon. And so moral. Jesus, any time I mention my dreams you get this look like I've kicked you... You're doing it now."
Jon tries to school his features into neutrality, and Daisy laughs.
"You can smoke if you want by the way; I won't actually try to stop you. Was just making a point. It really is awful for your lungs, though."
Jon shifts uncomfortably and resists the urge to immediately reach for another cigarette as Daisy watches him.
Instead, he says, "I have hurt people, though—you, Melanie, Basira, Martin…Tim." He pauses. It's been months, but the pain of that loss feels fresh suddenly.
"That's not what I mean, Jon. You know it. Everyone hurts people in the way that people hurt people. It's part of—it's part of being a person in the first place. That's why—you have to hold on to them to keep what's left of yourself. Trust me."
He meets her eyes and realizes that he does. Not the fake, forced trust he's had to work to cultivate in order to function at all around his coworkers, but truly. Somehow, Jon trusts Daisy of all people.
"That's just mad," he says to himself, not really intending to say it out loud. Daisy laughs.
"You would think so."
"No, I—" Jon sighs, "I don't know. It makes sense—I know you're right. But I can't—" he stops abruptly, takes several heavy breaths.
"Jon?"
"I can't trust myself. Even if I can trust you, I can't trust myself. I know…I know I can't."
He does get out another cigarette then, shielding it from the brisk wind as he lights it.
Daisy sighs, "Whatever floats your boat, I guess." She puts a hand on his shoulder, "I'm going to go check on Melanie. We should probably get out of here soon. Don't think it's doing anyone any good."
Jon exhales, and he can't tell what's smoke and what's the fog of his breath in the cool night air.
"I'm...yes, sure. But Daisy—the drinking wasn't great, but I'm glad. Glad we talked. Thank you."
She stands, "Of course. Let's go home, Jon. I'll go get the others."
"Okay."

Unfinished Jondrya wip from early 2015.
He was silent.
Like his direwolf, Jon was one to intimidate by sheer presence. There was a coldness about him, an icy exterior that Arya had never seen any man possess. When Jon did speak, men listened and obeyed. Men did not call him king, but if Jon was not a king, then surely no other man was. Not in Arya’s eyes, at least.
He had his chambers in Castle Black as befit his rank as the leader. He was neither king nor lord commander after his death so Arya was unsure of what his exact title was. So, like the rest of the people at the wall, he was Lord Snow.
Lord Snow
Now that was strange on Arya’s lips.
But not in a bad way.
When Arya arrived at the Wall, she’d only been a girl with a fierce wolf. Unlike Daenerys and Tyrion, Arya had not flown in by dragon. No, she’d sailed aboard Justin Massey’s old ship. When she finally arrived after a tumultuous voyage, Arya was greeted with the familiar sight of Rhaegal. He was perched atop Castle Black’s roof, blowing fire into the white gray sky. In that moment, Arya felt her heart pound so hard she was certain Nymeria could feel the same tension. As men came out to greet her party, Arya tried to see someone she recognized.
I wanted to see Jon.
Instead, she saw Ghost make his way through the crowd, silent yet fierce. Without any warning, Nymeria leaped towards him. The two direwolves circled each other while the whole Wall stood by, their full attentions fixed upon the wolves. For a moment, it seemed like the two would attack each other, but they only stood still.
They only moved apart when Jon appeared. Immediately, Ghost took to his master’s side. What a perfect unity of cold terror.
Jon was dressed in all black, and his eyes were cold and hot. One eye was red and the other was gray. He had a deep scar running through the red one. Arya wondered what happened to cause these changes in her brother, if these were part of the death she heard of, but she didn’t dare ask. Not then.
“Arya,” he said, his voice was deeper than she remembered.
I only remembered the boy who gave me Needle and mussed my hair.
This Jon wasn’t that boy Arya held so dear in her heart. This Jon was a man, she observed. His voice was deeper and he was taller, though he was not a tall man, and, of course, his eyes were different.
“Jon,” she said in a voice so low she could barely hear herself. Frost lingered in the air with the name.
In all of Arya’s fantasies of meeting her brother again, they rushed together and hugged. She would cried into his shoulder and he’d tell her he was here for her. He would tell her that he loved her, missed her, and would take care of her. That’s how everything would’ve happened in her fantasies. But the truth was different.
“Then you’ll come into the castle, little sister,” he said before striding off into Castle Black.
Arya followed.
Many at the Wall were fascinated by not only her presence, but by Nymeria’s as well. Nymeria was always to be feared for she was wild and calculating all at once. Her spirit was one the Wildlings were particularly fond of.
“Ay, this she-wolf’s got a right temper, and shows it too! Not like Ghost. No, Bloody Ghost is always hiding and stalking within the shadows,” Tormund Giantsbane said with not a little admiration.
Arya smiled, taking pride in her beast. “Just don’t get on Nymeria’s bad side.”
Tormund laughed so hard he spit out some of his ale. “No, m’lady, I wasn’t planning on it. I didn’t get past no she-bears and white walkers only to get mauled by some terrible she-wolf.”
Arya only hoped he wouldn’t venture from that wisdom.
Aside from those who came with Daenerys host, the Wall had a sparse population.
Tyrion told her that once Jon died, chaos took hold until only about 500 people were left standing. Between bloodshed and starvation, the numbers were dwindled.
“Jon never told me that,” Arya told Tyrion when he gave her the sum of what he’d heard from the survivors
“Oh, no? I imagine not. That brother of yours never speaks. Queen Daenerys oft complains of how tight-lipped he is. I told her she ought to have Drogon speak with him. He’s got a searing tongue, that Drogon.”
Arya reached down and pinched his non-nose hard. “That’s not funny.”
Tyrion squired away from her pinch. “I was only japing. Nevertheless, you must admit Lord Snow spends more time with that red bitch than with anyone else.”
Arya’s heart stung. She looked away from Tyrion, her eyes fixed on the Wall.
“Did that hit too close to home? My apologies, Lady Arya.”
Arya didn’t want his apologies. “Shut up, imp.”
He hated being called an imp and Arya knew that full well.
Tyrion clicked his tongue against his teeth. “Perhaps I am an imp. But I know more than you think.”
That made Arya snort. She turned her gaze away from the Wall so that she could look down upon Tyrion. “What in the world do you know about anything?”
“Some say I’m a very learned man, a master of politics and strategy.”
“Don’t I know that!  You’re a bloody liar. That’s all politicians are. I wouldn’t boast if I were in your place.”
“Do you fancy yourself better? By your own admission, you’re half a bravo and partially trained assassin. And by gods, you are better at planning war than me. I’d say that makes you a liar and a killer. Just like me.”
“I’m nothing like you,” Arya spat.
“You are. But so is Queen Daenerys. And so is your precious lord brother. None of us would be here if we weren’t. Those pious, honest fools---sweetling, they were killed early on in this long and sad tale.”
Arya had nothing to say to that so the imp continued.
“I don’t judge you, Arya. My sins are blacker than yours, make no mistake. I’m going to one of the deepest hells. I imagine. Eventually I’ll have to kill my father again when we cross paths once we’re in the same fiery pit. The seven love a warrior, not a conniving demon like me. They’re not like your Old Gods---now they love a wild, terrible spirit. You’ll find a home when all is said and done. However, I do question whether they’ll take fondly to the fact that you’re in love with your brother.”
Arya blinked. “I am not.”
“You are.”
“What do you know of my heart?”
The imp broke into one of his terrible grins. “Little, I’m sad to say. To tell you the truth, I wouldn’t mind being in your brother’s position. Still, I’ve seen this before, a brother and sister in love. Those who stand in the way, well, they have a skin of wine and an angry boar in their future.”
She didn’t bother to ask what he meant by his last remarks. Tyrion often spoke in phrases and stories that only he understood. All his own tragedies that Arya wanted no part of. She had more than enough of her own to remember.
