1. it’s my 24th birthday today, so my goal of being published by the time i’m 25 is now a one year looming monster, but i never specified what kind of published and am currently looking in various literary magazines that are recommended for writers who have yet to be published, so i’m surprisingly confident that i can make it work? and tbh even if whatever i write isn’t officially published before my 25th birthday, if i have someone in the process of being published then i’ll be happy!! no matter what though, i’m gonna try to be proud of myself for at least giving it my best shot!!
2. i honestly love that my birthday is on the ides of march because the ides of march meme shitposting is only a thing on tumblr but it also being my birthday makes it easier to like. be excited about the ides of march outside of tumblr. like even in person i can be like “it’s my birthday! i’m an ides of march babe (:” and if someone is like oh what’s that? or if they say something along the lines of oh like julius caesar? i can be like yep!! and even if it’s a small thing outside of tumblr it brings me immense enjoyment and amusement being able to bring it up off of tumblr
3. transportation situation has been very rough since june 2023 when i totalled my car, my gap insurance are being assholes and i ended up putting my foot down on the phone with them yesterday which i’m pretty proud of because i am NOT a confrontational person (something i’ve been working on this past year, so seeing some improvement with my ability to hold my ground and not be a pushover yesterday was very cool!!) i was told i’d get a response from them by friday next week no matter what, and if i don’t then friday of next week i will continue to wreak havoc upon them. but my moms car which i’ve been using since my accident broke down yesterday, hopefully it’s fixable but my parents were saying it might be done for, so trying to think of how i’m gonna get to work next week is kind of stressing me out lmao, but for now i’m just gonna focus on enjoying my birthday the best i can because i don’t want to start off being 24 with an overwhelming anxiety for something that won’t be a potential issue until monday. plus i already messaged my boss today to let her know that i’m going to do everything i can to make it work out but just so she’s in the loop and knows of the potential of me not being able to make my morning shifts (one of my coworkers said she’s more than happy to give me a ride for our afternoon shifts which does help relieve some of the stress!) and i told her i’d let her know for sure sunday so that if necessary she can have time to figure out someone to fill in for me in the mornings!
overall: life is weird and i ended being 23 yesterday with a shitty situation but a positive outlook and i am going to enjoy my first day of being 24 no matter what because honestly i fucking earned it. happy friday everyone, i hope it’s a good day for you and me both!
#aritalks#i did cry a little bit when i first woke up because i dont really know what to do about work and also i hate not having a car i can use#not only because of the work aspect but also getting my license when i was 18 gave me a freedom i didn’t have before#and i don’t like having to rely on other people just to like go to the fucking store or something yk#but then my best friend/roommate messaged me happy birthday and i was like fuck it! today is going to be a good day!#the stressful uncertainties can wait until tomorrow#also one of my best friends who hasn’t said happy birthday to me the past two years#(not intentionally im p sure they were just busy on my birthdays the past two years#and then had that moment of ‘oh shit i didnt send a message fuck i think its too late now’ which i totally get bc anxiety things yk)#was one of the first people to message me happy birthday!!#i’m also hoping to still be able to go see my mom and then stay the night at my dads tonight#so i can see both my parents and also my baby siblings for my birthday#my dads working today but after he texted happy birthday i sent him a text asking if he thinks we could still make it work#my mom is asleep still i think (she called me at midnight and left a voicemail singing happy birthday!! but her sleep schedule has been all#over the place recently so i’m waiting until 11:30 to call her which is in like 30 mins)#but she said something yesterday about driving out to me to give me a hug and also bring me my diabetes stuff that got delivered#(her house is my mailing address because i know it’s not going to change bc it’s my great grandparents house that she’s partially inhereting#when my great grandpa dies but since i have moved out of my dads my address has changed twice and i didnt have a mailbox at my last place so#just for the sake of consistency and not having to worry about important shit getting sent to the wrong address i’ve had her house as my#mailing address since i moved out of my dads at 19)#so i think i’m gonna ask her if she can just pick me up instead so i can go to her house w her and hang out with her#and hopefully my dad will be able to at least stop by with my siblings so i can see them too#i’d like to stay the night with them but if we can’t make it happen then i can also stay the night w my mom and hopefully tomorrow figure#out the car situation. might have to rent a car for a week if i can afford it? best case scenario is my moms car can be fixed but i still#dont know whats wrong with it ik there are two potential problems and one is fixable the other is not#the fixable one would cost like $150-$400 to fix depending on if we get a used part or a new one#if its $150-$200 ish i can probably afford to pay for the whole thing or at least most of it#but if its more than that hopefully my dad or one of my family members can help#and i can just pay them back in like $50 increments with my next few paychecks#just realized i said i wouldnt worry abt the car thing today and also i think im at tag limit to i’ll stop now lmao xoxo gossip girl ❤️

Benny weir x reader. Can you do one where Benny gets an online gf but have never met irl but she knows everything about the gang and him included the supernatural parts. Anyways Benny is like ALWAYS bragging about her but the gang fully just don't believe she's real. So reader flies out and decides to move to where Benny lives to surprise him. She tries really hard to wait to surprise him when he gets home from school but she just caught a glimpse of him while he was messing around outside the school and just couldn't resist running up and kissing him! Benny is? Shocked. The gang is? Shocked. Reader is? Love sick. Once Benny realized who it was he started to get so excited and not believing she was actually here all while Ethan is just like, who tf is this hot girl that's trying to get in Benny's pants rn?. And Benny has to literally make reader say she's his gf to make them believe him finally-🐇
Summer Love (Benny Weir X Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: Benny’s friends don’t believe him when he tells them he has a girlfriend.
A/N: I’m having the reader move because of her parents’ work instead of just for Benny bc idk it feels a lil weird for a teenager to move for their s/o and not even telling their s/o that they’re moving
***
School had just ended for the summer, and you were racing home. Your boyfriend had made a habit of facetiming you when you were out of school, but you were hiding something from him that you really wanted to keep a secret.
After greeting your parents, you went to your room. It was filled with boxes, bubble wrap, and suitcases. Your boyfriend couldn’t see this. It would ruin the surprise.
Suddenly, your phone started ringing. You pushed everything off your bed and ensured there was nothing out of the norm around you. Deciding that everything would look fine, you answered the phone. “Hey, Y/n!” His regular grin widened when you popped up on his screen.
“Hey, Benny!” You and Benny met last summer when he was taking a road trip and went through your town. You were waitressing at the diner he and his grandma stopped at. Usually, you’d roll your eyes whenever some rando tried flirting with you, especially when you were working. But there was just something different about Benny.
It might have been the fact that he was a warlock, but he insisted that it was his amazing charisma.
“So, how was your last day of school?” He didn’t see anything out of the ordinary with your surroundings, or if he did, he didn’t say anything.
The two of you talked for about an hour before you got a text from your mom. It said something about her needing your help loading boxes into the moving van that your family had rented. You sighed.
“I gotta go; my mom needs help with something.”
“Okay, Baby. I’ll talk to you tonight?”
“Of course, Bens.” After saying your goodbyes, you hung up and ran downstairs to help your mom.
“How was your talk with Benny?” Your mom asked as you carried a heavy box out of the house.
“He didn’t suspect a thing.” You didn’t like keeping secrets from someone you cared about, especially one this big. But you knew it would be totally worth it.
“What are you gonna do when we’re on the road?”
“I told him that people were fixing the power lines on our block starting tomorrow, so we can only text or call until the power and wifi are back on. But no facetime.”
“Smart. How are you gonna surprise him?”
You hauled the box into the van, dusting your hands off.
“Still figuring that out.”
***
After lengthy drives and your parents constantly switching between driving the car or the moving van, you had finally made it to Whitechapel, Ontario. Your dad was offered a promotion in one of the corporate offices of his company, which just so happened to be in the same town that your long-distance boyfriend lived in. To say you were ecstatic to hear the news was an understatement. You remember grabbing your phone as fast as you could, about to call Benny, when you paused. Something this big shouldn’t be told over the phone.
So you decided to just tell him when you saw him. Now, you were just debating on how to do it.
After unpacking a good amount of your stuff into the new house, you told your parents that you were going to explore Whitechapel. It would give you both time to think about how you’d surprise Benny and time to get used to your new surroundings.
Whitechapel was very beautiful when you didn’t think about the freaky supernatural stuff that your boyfriend and his friends encountered almost daily. Even if you didn’t have Benny, you think that you’d still be delighted about this move.
After walking through the park and getting lunch at some little restaurant, you decided to go by the school you would be attending after the summer. It was a decent walking distance from your new house, thank goodness. As you approached the courtyard in front of the main entrance, you heard lots of laughing and talking. There was a group of kids about your age messing around. As you caught the face of the tallest boy, you started to panic.
You must have forgotten that school was going for another week in Whitechapel. Because instead of hanging out at the park or someone’s house, it looked like Benny and his friends were just now leaving school.
If it was just Benny, you’d be all over him by now. But he was with his friends. And his friends were convinced that you didn’t exist. Sure, this could have easily been disproven by a phone or facetime call. But something always prevented you and Benny’s friends from interacting for some reason. One or the other being busy or faulty internet were the main things. But Benny had also shown them pictures of you, and they didn’t believe him.
You had to do something. You were just standing there like a weirdo while your boyfriend and his friends were messing around across the street. You needed to make a decision, either run to Benny or run away from him and figure out how to tell him later.
“Benny!” You yelled as you crossed the empty street. A look of recognition crossed his face before becoming confused. He heard your voice, but there was no way you could be in Whitechapel. “Benny!” He turned to the sound of your voice.
“Y/n?!” He shouted back with an incredulous tone. He started to run towards you, and the two of you met on the sidewalk. He kissed you the second you were in his arms. Months of being apart amplified the passion; you two didn’t even care that his friends were gawking at you.
“Why is Benny making out with her?” Ethan asked. “Who even is she?”
“Maybe he paid her a million dollars,” Erica replied, looking at the scene in front of her with slight disgust.
“Wait, you can do that?” Rory asked.
“What are you doing here?” Benny asked you, refusing to let go of you. “Why didn’t you tell me you’d be here?”
“Surprise.” You smiled. Seeing him on your phone was nothing compared to seeing him standing before you. He looked so pretty, especially when he was smiling at you with a smile that he only gave you. A lovesick smile, as if you were the person for Benny. “You have no idea how much I wanted to tell you, but I wanted to surprise you.”
“Mission accomplished; this is crazy.” He kissed you again. “How long are you gonna be here?”
“Oh, you’ll be seeing a lot of me, Bens. Let’s just say you should change my address on your phone.”
“No way.” He muttered. “Are you serious?”
“Surprise again.” He kissed you to the point where you almost lost your breath, but you didn’t care in the slightest.
“This is probably the best day ever, holy crap.”
“Uh, Benny?” One of his friends called out, making the two of you remember that they were even there. “Wanna tell us what’s going on?” Benny turned around, you still in his hold. He brought you to his friends.
“Guys, this is Y/n. My girlfriend of almost a year that I keep telling you about.” His friends kept looking from you to him. “Y/n, this is-”
“Oh, don’t tell me. I got this.” You pointed to each person before naming them. “Erica, Sarah, and Rory, the vampires. Ethan, seer. And Benny, greatest warlock I know.” Your boyfriend blushed at the compliment and even more when you kissed his cheek.
“Right as always,” Benny said.
“Benny, you told her about us?” Sarah asked, somewhat panicked.
“Of course I did. That’s what you do with someone you’re dating; you tell them stuff.”
“Benny, I know that you’ve been pretty insistent on the fact that you have a girlfriend.” Ethan sighed. “But going as far as to hire someone and tell them very personal stuff about us? That’s crazy.”
“E, I didn’t hire her. She’s my girlfriend.” Benny groaned, frustrated that this debate was still going, even though his girlfriend was standing right in front of his friends. “Y/n, tell them.”
“I’m genuinely Benny’s girlfriend.” You said. “I wasn’t hired to do this; I’ve been dating him for almost a year. We met last year when he and his grandma were on a road trip.”
“I still kinda don’t believe this,” Sarah muttered. You shrugged.
“Well, it’s your guys’ loss if you don’t believe us, I guess.”
It took showing photos, messages, and even questioning Benny’s grandma. But at the end of the day, Benny’s friends finally believed the two of you. They apologized to you for not believing you were real and to Benny for not believing he really had a girlfriend all this time.
“So, besides thinking you didn’t exist, what did you think of them?” Benny asked you as he walked you home.
“They were pretty cool. I’m kinda scared of Erica, though. She has a very intense energy to her.”
“Don’t worry, she’ll warm up to you. It just takes time.”
“How long did it take for her to warm up to you?” He sighed.
“Still working on it.”

Jack panicked looking around the kids noticed this frantic reaction

“We do not push in this household and you know that” she apologized to Ryder crossing her arms
“Does anyone wanna tell me what happened while I was gone” you said feeling like a teacher with bad kids
“No because nothing happened” Jack said trying to convince you that nothing happened
“So nothing happened no going to the park no watching cool movies” before anyone could say anything Mae had something to say

Delta Landscaping | Chapter 7: FriDate Night Lights
Tumblr media
Series Summary: In this AU, the boys of Delta Force start a new business post-Colombia.
Series Masterlist | AO3 Link for Chapter 7
Rating: Explicit (18+)
Word Count: 9
Chapter Summary: I don’t want to spoil too much here, but we follow a few of the characters leading up and through a Friday night.
Chapter Warning: Swearing. Period talk. Reminder, I don’t have a beta for this, so any mistakes are all mine.
A/N: I know a few of you have asked about Frankie, so he gets a little scene here as we start to set up his storyline. (I’ve left some hints as to where he’s going). More notes from me at the end.
Please enjoy the latest episode of As The Mule Falls...
“So I think I’m going to ask Aria out for tomorrow night,” Connor said as he finished his latest set of squats.
Benny, who was spotting him, grabbed the boy by the shoulders and shook him excitedly, “Hell yeah man! How’re you planning on doing it?”
“I was going to text her later…I don’t know, it seemed easy for Will to ask Katie out that way…” he trailed off as he went underneath the bar again, taking a deep breath.
Benny smirked, waiting for Connor to finish. “Ok, sounds good, where are you going to go then? Gonna do that food truck idea you had?”
“Yeah. There’s just one problem,” he rubbed the back of his neck as Benny took his spot under the bar to do a set.
“What’s that?”
“I, uh, I can’t drive.”
“Can’t your mom drive you?” Benny puffed out between squats, drawing the attention of a few women, and men, working out nearby.
“I don’t know…isn’t it kinda lame to have my mom drive me on a date?”
“Sounds like you don’t have another option. You guys gonna ride your bikes there?” Benny kept one arm dangling on the bar catching his breath, pulling up his shirt to wipe the sweat off of his brow. “Wait, Aria's older than you, can’t she drive?”
Connor rolled his eyes, “No…she said she doesn’t want to learn…driving scares her…”
“You trying to ask me to drive you?” Benny smirked as Connor looked at him sheepishly. “Actually, wait, her parents may not be cool with some random guy driving their daughter,” he laughed. “What if your mom drives but I’ll tag along and she and I go do our own thing? We won’t bother you, but that way you all can still go and have fun."
“You’d do that?” Connor’s eyes lit up.
“What? Hang out with your mom? I think there’re worse things I could be asked to do on a Friday night. Plus, we gotta get you out on a date bud!” He brought the boy in for a half hug, messing with his hair.
“Ok, sweet.”
__________________________
“Hey Mom,” Connor walked through the door, dropping his gym bag in the laundry room.
“Hey bud, did you have a good time at the gym? Benny’s not beating you up too much, right?” Megan called to him from her office as she typed away.
“Nah, it’s all good. Hey, um, are you doing anything tomorrow night?” He walked into her office, sitting on the loveseat tucked in the corner of the room.
“Hmm…nope no plans, ‘specially since Katie will be occupied. Mel, David, and Ty are all going to a bar that gets too rowdy for me. I was probably going to go to Lulu’s if anything.”
“How do you feel about food trucks?”
“Aww, buddy. You trying to do something fun with your mom?”
“Uh, well,” he ran his hand over his face, “I was actually thinking of asking Aria out.” He dropped his eyes to the floor, fidgeting a bit with his hands.
Megan stopped typing and turned in her chair to face him trying to hide her smile. “You like her, huh?” Connor nodded. “Do you think she’ll say yes?”
“I hope so. But before I ask, I want to figure something out.”
“What’s that?”
“So…I don’t really have a way of getting there.”
“Oh, I can drive you, if her parents are cool with it.”
“Well, actually I was talking it over with Benny and he suggested maybe he could go with you, keep you company.”
Megan straightened up in her chair slightly, her brows furrowed. “Benny suggested that?”
“Yeah. Is that ok?”
“Sure,” she smiled. “It will beat being there alone, that's for sure. I promise we’ll try to not cramp your style.”
“What does that mean?”
"What does what mean?"
"Cramp my style?"
"Oh buddy, you don’t mean to but sometimes you make me feel so old," Megan shook her head laughing.

Megan: Sounds like we have a date on Friday?
Benny: I know you’ve been wanting to ask me out for a while, figured I’d have to be the one to make the move.
Megan: Omg. 🙄 Hilarious.
Megan: Ok, but seriously…how are we doing to do this?
Benny: What do you mean?
Megan: I want to give Con and Ari some space, but I also want to keep an eye on them.
Benny: Well, that’s my specialty. I’m pretty good at being stealthy. 😉
Benny: Can you send me a link to the place we’re going? Gotta do some recon.
Megan: linkMegan: Ooo so we get to go on a mission?! Do I need to bring anything? Binoculars? Should I wear camo?
Benny: Slow down mama bear, I’ll handle it.

“What are you smiling at?” Will looked over to Benny, who was sprawled out on the couch, smirking at the phone.
“Just doing some wingman shit,” he glanced up from his phone.
“Connor?”
“Yea, he asked out Aria. Looks like you aren’t the only one with a date tomorrow night.”
“Oh nice, good for him. Where’re they going? Please tell me you didn’t share any of your ‘going to the movies’ stories with him.”
“You’re one to fucking talk!” Benny laughed. “No, they’re going to this food truck thing that she’s apparently been dying to go to. Megan and I are taking them.”
“Oooh,” Will slapped his brother’s legs so he could move them to sit down. “You and Megan? I know you have a thing for moms, but you think that’s a good idea?”
Benny furrowed his brows, “No man, it’s not like that. She’s cool. I see her more like a sister than anything else.”
“Ok, well maybe she can be a wingwoman for you then. We gotta get you back out there man!”
“I’m ok.” Benny sat up, his mouth twitched as he kept his eyes on his phone.
“Whatever you say. I just know that your dick is probably getting tired of your hand.”
“Fuck off. Think of your own dick and stop worrying about mine.” Benny rolled his eyes, grabbed his laptop, and headed to his room.
_______________________
“You have plans for tomorrow night?” Santiago poured himself and Frankie a glass of whiskey and sat on the couch to watch a soccer game.
“Well, no, I usually just wait for you to drag me to something. Who is she and what’s her friend like?” Frankie rolled his eyes as he grabbed the glass.
“No, no it’s not like that. Melissa,” Frankie side-eyed him, “and David and Ty are all going out.”
“I don’t know man, I’m kinda tired from this week. I was maybe going to see what Lulu was up to.”
“Why don’t you ever wanna do anything fun?” Santiago playfully shoves Frankie.
“I do like to have fun, I just…got a lot on my mind is all.”
“It’s coming up on a year, right?”
“Yeah, about two weeks away.” Frankie swirls the ice in his glass.
“I’m proud of you hermano. I know it hasn’t been easy.”
“Thanks,” Frankie gave a half smile before slapping Pope on the shoulder. “You helped me, so thank you.”
There wasn’t much that needed to be said between these two, they had been through the trenches not only in battle but in life as well. Even though they didn’t always acknowledge it, neither would have made it if not for the other’s support along the way.
“So Melissa…what’s going on there?”
Santiago got up to refill their drinks, not saying anything until he sat back down again. “Nothing.”
“Nothing. Ok.” Frankie scoffed before taking another sip.
“Look, she needs a friend.”
“I think she has a lot of friends, a whole damn neighborhood full of them.”
“Yeah, but all of those people are friends with Danny too. She can’t really be honest with them.”
“And she can be honest with you?”
“I’m a neutral third party.”
“Neutral?” Frankie chuckled, taking off his hat to inspect it.
"What are you doing?"
“Just wanted to check to see if my hat said ‘I’m a fucking idiot’ on it.” Frankie rolled his eyes as he ran his fingers through his curls and put the hat back on his head.
Santiago paused for a moment, trying to pick his words carefully.
“Ok look,” he sighed. “She’s having cold feet about getting married. And before you say anything, she brought this up…she has no one to talk to about this stuff. Everyone on that damn street is friends with the guy, so someone is bound to slip and say something to him. And her family? They’ve been pressuring the two of them to get married and have kids for years now, they aren’t going to want to hear that she's having second thoughts and wants to slow down.”
“Which is it?” Frankie cuts in.
“What?”
“Is she having second thoughts about whether or not she wants to be with Danny or does she just wish everyone would slow down?”
“I-”
“Because it makes a big difference, Pope. She know about Sofia?”
“No.”
“You gonna tell her at some point?”
“If it comes up, sure.”
Frankie nods and rolls his eyes. “Ok, hermano.”
“Well since apparently you can’t trust me to be around her by myself, wanna come with me Saturday? She wants some stuff done to the backyard and I said I’d go take a look…was gonna ask Benny but he and Will are going to be at Katie’s. You have a good eye for stuff like that, though.”
“So I’m your last choice, cool, I see how it is,” he smirks, barely able to get it out with a straight face. “Yeah, I’ll go with you. Sounds like a plan.”
___________________________
“Ugh, I don’t know, is this too much? Like I’m trying too hard?” Katie propped her phone on her dresser and twirled in front of it to show Megan her outfit.
“I mean, you’re going to be doing some walking I’d imagine, so the stilettos probably aren’t going to be the most comfortable. What kind of sundress options do you have?”
“Uh, one sec lemme grab some. What are you wearing?” Katie called from her closet.
“Jeans and a cute top I guess. I don’t know, figured my yoga pants and oversized tee aren’t the right move.”
“Especially when you got a hot younger guy with you,” Katie returned with a few dresses in her hands.
“Benny is hot, but c’mon, he’s like a little brother. He’s got too much energy for me,” she laughed. “Case in point, he’s apparently going to have this whole thing set up like we’re going on a mission.”
“Haha. Will told me that he’s “cased” the whole place via satellite and knows where the two of you can “post up” so you can see what the kids are up to,” Katie laughed while doing finger quotes.
“It’s cute. I really appreciate how he and the boys have taken Connor in…it’s really sweet. Oh hey, wait, show me that one again.”
Katie held up a midi dress that had a green print with white and pink flowers on it, giving it a retro vibe. It had a sweetheart neck with tie straps. “This one?”
“Yes, is that new?”
“Yeah, I bought it a few weeks ago on a whim at that consignment shop in South Tampa. I don’t know, it seems kinda fancy, no?”
“Can you just shut up and put it on? I want to see!”
Katie quickly strips out of her loungewear and slips the dress on. It hugs her curves in just the right places and shows off just enough cleavage to be flirty without showing everything.
“That’s the one. Will is going to lose his mind when he sees you in that.”
Katie blushed a little as she swished the bottom of her dress around, admiring herself in the full-length mirror she hastily attached to the back of her bathroom door.
“Ok, so we have a winner. And for my hair…I’m thinking of putting it up. It’s so damn hot out, my curls would fall in a second with the humidity.”
“Yeah, I think that works. Oh shit, Connor just jumped out of the shower, so I’m gonna get ready. Please send me a photo of the final look…please!”
“I will…have fun and tell Connor I wish him luck. And please try and give that boy some space!”

“You’re wearing that?” Benny looked up from the notebook he was doodling in to see his brother in the kitchen wearing dark wash jeans and a black button-up shirt tucked into his jeans.
“What do you mean? This looks nice, doesn’t it?”
“You’re gonna be sweating your balls off. Doesn’t that place have a bunch of places to walk around and shit?”
Will contemplated what his brother said, annoyed that he did make a good point. He turned on his heels and went back down the hallway to his bedroom, emerging a few moments later with a white henley-style shirt. He left a couple of the top buttons unbuttoned. He also switched to a pair of lighter-wash jeans and brown boots. “This better?”
“Hell yeah, you don’t look like such a nerd.”
Will rolled his eyes, “didn’t realize you were the fashion police there, Ace?”
Benny frowned at the use of his call sign. The guys only used it these days when they wanted to get under his skin. He sat silent for a moment, doodling in his notebook.
“I’m sorry I called you that Ben,” Will sat down across from him. “What time are you headed over to Megan’s?” He said, eager to change the subject.
“Oh shit, I need to go,” Benny got up quickly, grabbing his wallet and phone from the kitchen counter. “And don’t forget, we have to go to Katie’s house in the morning so if you’re there just shoot me a text so we don’t traumatize the kid. I know how you like your morning sex.”
And with that Benny left to head down the street to Megan’s house, leaving Will to pace around. He was early, too early to head to Katie’s. They agreed to meet at 7:30, so he did some quick calculations in his mind, realizing he could run down the street to Publix and still be back with plenty of time to spare. He went to grab his wallet when something fell from it.
“Fuckin Benny,” he sighed and then chuckled.
His younger brother had left him a condom in his wallet with a sticker that said “You can do it” affixed to the wrapper.

Benny rang the doorbell and instantly heard Bucky barking.
“Oh stop it, you know Benny. He gives you treats, remember?” Megan scolded the dog as she opened the door.
And then, almost on cue, Benny fished out a couple of treats from his pocket which made Bucky’s little paws tippy tap onto the tile.
“You spoil him, y’know that?” Megan rolled her eyes and laughed. "Oh look, you wore sleeves. I feel so honored I get formal Benny for tonight!"
“It's not spoiling…I just don't want him nipping at my heels. And thanks, I thought I'd dress up for you,” he winked.
Benny was dressed in a simple pair of jeans and a black T-shirt, the sleeves fitting snugly around his biceps. He left his trusty hat at home, slightly annoyed that his hair kept getting in his eyes.
“He’s a herding dog, they do that sometimes. He’s trying to keep you in line,” she teased, opening the door further for Benny to walk in.
“Where’s the man of the hour? We’re going to be late.”
“Jeez, you’re almost as bad as Will,” Katie smirked as Benny gave a faux shocked look. “I said almost. Will’s probably been ready to go to Katie’s since before you left right? And they don’t even leave for at least another half hour.”
“Maybe. Maybe not," Benny teased. "I could tell he's nervous."
"Well, if it's any consolation she is too. She tried on a ton of outfits. I haven't seen her this giddy over a date in a long time, maybe ever."
"I'm sure she’ll look beautiful. I saved Will so he doesn't look like too much of a dork," he smiled.
"You guys ready to go?" Connor came from down the hallway. He was dressed in black shorts, a white and black striped polo shirt, and some Vans.
"Aw look at yo-"
"Mom, don't start. You aren't going to make it weird are you?"
"Nope that's why I'm here, we're going to keep it cool right Meg?" Benny wrapped an arm around Megan's shoulder.
"Yeah, I'll be fine C. I just can't believe you're going out on your first date!"
Connor groaned. "I'm starting to regret this…"
"It's all good man, you'll be fine. Let's just see how it goes when we pick Aria up. I'll find some story to entertain your mom with, so there won't be any awkward silences," Benny smiled as he ushered Megan and Connor outside and into her SUV.

Will's calculations were correct and he was back with an arrangement of flowers with about 10 minutes to spare. Rather than go back home, he drove to Katie's driveway and waited in his car.
"I should wait another five minutes, right?" Will asked himself in the mirror, hyping himself up.
He was nervous. He had gone on dates here or there, usually helping be a wingman to Santiago whenever Frankie or Benny didn't want to fill in. And it also didn't help that he really liked Katie. He felt comfortable around her like he had known her forever.
With one big exhale, he gathered the flowers and walked to her door.
________________________
Katie got an alert from her Ring camera when Will parked in her driveway. She got instant butterflies, excited about the prospect of spending some time alone with him.
She busied herself with packing her purse, waiting for him to knock on the door. After a few minutes, she checked the Ring camera again and saw he was still in his Jeep.
"What are you doing, Will?"
She then saw the Jeep door swing open as he got out.
"Fuck, he looks so hot. Ok, get it together." She gave herself a little pep talk in the hallway mirror.
_________________________
Will knocked on the door and waited a few moments before he heard the door unlock and swing open. He was a bit dumbstruck when he saw Katie. She looked beautiful in a dress that showed off her curves. Her hair was gathered at the top of her head, exposing her neck which he wanted to instantly nuzzle. His mouth went dry but he knew he had to say something.
He cleared his throat, "H-hi, you look absolutely beautiful. I feel really underdressed now, I knew I shouldn't have changed…"
"You look great, Will," Katie cut him off.
"Thanks," he blushed. "Uh, these are for you."
"You got me flowers?" Her face softened as she took the bouquet of assorted flowers from his hands. "I honestly can't remember the last time a man got me flowers, thank you."
"Well, my mom would be very disappointed in me if I showed up empty-handed, especially when there’s a pretty girl involved," Will chuckled.
Her face got hot. "Here, come in, let me put these in water before we go."
“You know, they last longer if you put them in some Sprite”
“Wait, really?”
“Yeah, it's kind of weird, but it works.”
She scampered over to the kitchen and grabbed a vase from underneath her kitchen sink. They made small talk as Katie cut off the stems and arranged the flowers. Will couldn't help but notice that she hadn't stopped smiling.
"There. All set. Thank you, this was really sweet."
Will moved over to where she was and leaned one arm on the kitchen island while he looked Katie up and down, licking his bottom lip.
"I'm glad you liked them."
Katie and Will's eyes locked onto one another and he stepped forward, a hand coming to her waist.
"I really like this dress, by the way."
"Thanks," Katie closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around his neck. "You don't look too bad yourself."
"Oh no?" He smiled as he leaned in to kiss her, his other hand cupping her face.
Will started off slowly, but when Katie's nails scratched his scalp he felt emboldened and walked her back towards the kitchen counter. He started trailing kisses along her jaw and then to her neck, his eyes slightly rolling back in his head as he breathed in the vanilla and rose scent of her perfume.
"W-Will, you keep going like this and we aren't going to make it to dinner," Katie let out with a shaky breath.
"I don't see the problem with that," he smirked as he moved along her collarbone.
Katie pulled his head back, "All in due time soldier. The faster we leave the faster we can come back," she winked.
"Deal," he smiled, giving her one more kiss before he stepped aside so she could walk in front of him. "Let's go."

"Hola Lulu, you here?" Frankie called as he walked through the door, the smell of Lucille's amazing cooking hitting his nose as he stepped across the threshold.
"Si mijo!" She called from the kitchen.
He walked around the corner just as she was taking the last of her empanadas out of the oil to lay on a paper towel-lined plate. "You know, you should keep your door locked. Especially at night, don't know who will come walking in," he smirked as he leaned against her counter.
"Ay Francisco, que gracioso," she laughed as he came in to kiss her on the cheek. "Just you tonight?"
"Yeah, Will has his date with Katie and then Benny and Megan drove Connor and Aria somewhere."
"Y Santiago?"
He shook his head, "He went with Melisa, David, and Ty out.”
She side-eyed him, thinking about asking his opinion on Santiago and Melissa, but she refrained when she saw the rush of sadness that washed over his face. He shook it away and smiled, sitting down at the table as she brought over a plate of food.
"This looks amazing, Lulu. You spoil me, you know that?" He winked.
"I'm happy to do it, Francisco. You keep an old lady company," she smiled and patted him on the arm as she went to box up some of the food into containers for Frankie to take to the guys. "Dime, you don't have a girl to take out on a Friday night?"
"No, ha it's uh…it's been a while for me on that front," he shook his head, taking a bite.
"Eres guapo. And you are a nice young man. I’m sure you have some interested ladies."
"I…uh, I’m not really focused on that right now. I guess I wanted to get myself together a bit before I do that again." His mouth twitched as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I actually wanted to talk to you about something. Have I told you that I have these um…meetings I go to every week?"
"You've mentioned them. For work, right?"
"Uh, kind of," he rubbed one hand up and down his thigh.
Lucille sensed his nerves and came over to sit next to him, holding his hand. "Dime, my cielo. Que te pasa?"
"I. I don't want you to think differently of me," he looked down but a squeeze from Lucille's hand gave him the courage to meet her eyes. "I am…I've been…clean for almost a year,” he sighed. “I fell into some bad stuff and I couldn't shut my brain off so I turned to…drugs…to help me. But it didn't help me, it just made everything worse. I was a really shitty friend, brother, uncle for a long time. And my girl, well, I thought she was my girl," he rolled his eyes, "she messed things up for me too. Anyway, we did one last…trip…the guys and me, and when I came back I decided to change things. Going to the meetings was a big first step for me and I've been trying to repair everything I broke since then."
A silence fell between them as Frankie fidgeted in his seat, he didn’t intend to say all of that but it just flowed out of him. He was nervous about how Lucille would react knowing more about him. It wasn’t something that he offered up freely to people, given the reactions he had received in the past. On top of that, Lucille reminded him so much of his late mother and he felt ashamed at what she would think if she saw how low he had gotten. It was bad enough that his sister had to bear witness to some of it.
Lucille's eyes raked over the man sitting before her. She could see the fear and shame oozing out of him as his shoulders hunched in. He looked like a little boy who was afraid to get punished.
"Mijo," she grabbed one of his large hands with both of hers, rubbing circles with her thumb. "You said it's been almost a year?"
He nodded. "Yeah, in a couple of weeks, it will be 365 days."
"That's amazing, I'm so proud of you Francisco," she smiled as he looked up at her, tears welling in his eyes. "That is the hardest work we can do, the work we have to do on ourselves. You are a good man. I know I've only known you for a little while but I can tell you have a good heart, you care about your friends, and you are a hard worker."
Frankie let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding in. "You aren't going to kick me out?"
"What?! No! Why would I do that?"
"I've done some bad things, some of it I still can't…I'm still working through it."
"I can only imagine the things you boys have seen and have had to do," she cupped his cheek. "But you can't let that define you, okay?"
"I sometimes think about what my mom would say if she saw me…saw what I turned into."
"She would love you, no matter what. And she would be so proud of how strong of a man you are to admit that you needed help." She wiped a tear that fell from his eyes and moved to hug him.
They stayed in their embrace for a few moments as Frankie cried. Lucille didn't say anything, knowing that he had probably been needing this for a while. She just rubbed his back and told him how proud she was of him.
“I was never blessed to have a child, but if I had a son, I would have hoped he’d be like you Francisco.”
He pulled back, rubbing the heels of both of his hands in his eyes. “Sorry, Lulu, I didn’t mean to come over here and be a mess, I don’t even know where this all came from.”
“Don’t apologize, mi vida. I’m so happy you felt safe to share,” she smiled. “You said you are a brother…do you have a sister or a brother?”
“A sister, Valeria. She’s younger than me but she’s the good one, unafraid to be herself” he chuckled. “She’s got a great job and two kids. And her wife is amazing too.”
“That sounds great! When’s the last time you saw her?”
Frankie let out a long sigh, leaning back in the chair. “In person? Psh, Leia was around six months, not last Christmas, but the Christmas before. So like over a year and a half, I guess. I couldn’t make it to her first birthday because I was too messed up. I missed the flight.” The sadness washed over him again.
“Do you speak to her? Your sister.”
“Oh yeah, I’ve been talking with her more regularly, it’s been nice. The kids are getting so big.”
“How old are they?”
“Well, Leia is about to turn two in…” he checked his phone. “Wow, next week. Hold on, let me put a reminder to buy her a gift tomorrow,” he laughed. “And Antonio is five.”
“Where do they live?”
“In Dallas. We grew up outside of Houston, actually down the street from Benny and Will, funny enough,” he chuckled. “She moved around for college and grad school but they eventually went up there because of Alyssa’s job.”
“Why don’t you go visit them?”
He furrowed his brow, “What? No, I couldn’t do that. It’s too last minute.”
“Do you know that?”
“N-no, I guess not.”
“Why don’t you call and ask?”
Frankie brought his hands to rest in his lap fidgeting with a hangnail on his thumb. After a few moments, he cleared his throat. “Do you mind if I do it here? You know, in case it doesn’t go well?”
“Por supresto, but I don’t think you have anything to be nervous about.” Lucille rubbed his arm, giving him an encouraging smile.
Frankie pulled out his phone and looked at it for a moment, “here it goes.”
_________________________
“Alright, you two have fun. We’ll meet you back here at 9. But text if you need anything.”
“Ok, mom.”
“And have your phone on you in case we need to call you.”
“Yes, mom.”
“And if you try and contact me and don’t hear back then call Benny, okay?”
“I think they got it there Mama Bear,” Benny laughed, cutting off Megan’s rambling. “Y’all have fun. And don’t do anything I would do,” he winked at Connor.
“Thanks for driving us, Mrs. Shay!” Aria smiled, waiting for Connor to lead them away.
“You can call me Megan, sweetheart.”
“Love you, mom. See ya Benny.”
Benny put his arm around Megan’s shoulder and forced her to turn around. “Let them walk away, we’ll keep an eye on them,” he winked.
Megan tried to put her nerves aside, curious to see what Benny had up his sleeve.
“So what’s the play?”
“Well, I scouted it out and there’s a spot I think is going to work out well. We just need to pick something up first….ah there he is! What’s up, Jax?”
“Ben, good to see you, man.” The man gave Benny a handshake and a half hug.
“Jax, this is my friend Megan. The one I was telling you about.”
“Ah, the protective mom. Nice to meet you,” he extended his hand to shake Megan’s hand.
She shook his hand and looked between the two men. “Sooo…what’s going on?”
“Well, I knew if I carried a bag Connor would notice, so I got Jax here to get some of my supplies together. He's an old buddy of mine. You and I, my dear, are doing a stakeout!” Benny grinned from ear to ear.
Jax brought out a backpack and he and Benny started unpacking. There were a couple of binoculars, a couple of power banks to charge their phones, and some snacks.
“Oh my gosh Benny, you are ridiculous,” Megan laughed. “This is great…and really sweet.”
“I knew you would be a nervous goddamn wreck, so this way we can keep an eye on the kids. Hey, maybe you’ll loosen up enough that we can go grab a drink or something.”
“Deal,” she chuckled, grabbing the binoculars from him.
“Thanks, Jax, I’ll leave this in the drop zone when we’re done. I Venmo’d you already, so you should be good to go.”
“Sounds good, brother. I’ll see you around. Have a good night, ma’am.”
Megan waved as Jax walked away, seemingly disappearing into the crowd.
“Ok, c’mere. The spot I’m thinking of is up here.”
Benny led the way, finding a small hill perched between a couple of trees. He scanned the food truck park and within seconds the smile on his face grew. “Gotcha! See over there at 11 o’clock?” He pointed to their left, lifting up Megan’s binoculars.
She scrunched her face, confused as to what Benny was referring to. She skeptically brought the binoculars to her eyes, “I don’t know what you’re looking at…oh shit, is that them?”
“Mhmm.”
“How’d you do that?”
“Lotta practice, I guess,” he shrugged.
Through the binoculars, Megan saw Connor and Aria in line for one of the food trucks. They seemed a little nervous, exchanging looks and nervous laughter.
“Oh shit, I didn’t remind him to pay. Do you think he’s going to? He should, right? It’s a date. Oh man, my little boy is out on a date.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Calm down. We may need to get that drink sooner than I thought,” Benny laughed. “Just watch, the kid’s got it.”
And sure enough, when it was their turn to order, Connor put his hand on Aria’s back letting her go in front of him. After she placed her order, he did and pulled out his phone, tapping it on the terminal. Aria smiled and grabbed his hand as they waited for their food to be called.
Megan pulled the binoculars from her eyes and looked to Benny who winked at her, “Told ya. He’s a natural.”
“How did he? How’s he so smooth? Did you?”
Benny shrugged. “He asked questions and I just told him what I would do. But I told him to do whatever felt right.”
“Benjamin Miller you are going to make me cry,” she playfully slapped his arm. “This was really sweet Benny, thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Now, we can stay here and monitor them. But I figured if you saw them, it would ease your mind. Let them have fun!”

The food truck park had a beer garden with TVs playing a baseball game, so Megan and Benny found a table and nursed a beer.
“Ok, so tell me. Why are all of you guys single?” Megan asked as she took a sip.
“Ha, well I don’t know. It’s just kinda happened. I think this is the longest we’ve ever gone where all of us are single, now that I think of it. Although, of all of us, Pope is the only one that has somewhat of a consistent dating life. That guy could flirt with a wet paper bag and probably get it pregnant,” he laughed.
“He does seem like quite the flirt,” she laughed.
“Sure is. He’s dragged all of us out on a double date at least once in the past year.”
“And nothing’s worked out?”
“Nah, although if I’m honest, it wasn’t something I was interested in. I had a really bad breakup a few years ago, and then did some shit I wasn’t too proud of in the fallout. I guess after we all retired, I just wanted some time.”
“Nothing wrong with that. Can I ask what happened? With your ex?”
“Um…I’ll say this. She didn’t treat me the best and I was too in love, well, I thought it was love. I was blind to a lot of it. And it took damn near an intervention for me to see it,” he sipped on his beer. “That was a hell of a night. There I was thinking we were going to read Fish the riot act for all the shit he was pulling and turns out Pope and Will turned the tables and I got a wake-up call too.”
“Oh shit.”
“Yea. In the moment I was so fucking pissed, but now that it’s been almost a year I can see things more clearly. Pope and Will…and Frankie, although at that time he was as shit of a friend as I was, they love me and wanted the best. They could see how…destructive I was being and they pulled me out.”
Megan reached out to pat Benny’s shoulder. “That’s nice that you have them. We’re happy to have you too,” she smiled.
“Thanks. You know, we’ve moved around a lot but I feel like we can finally maybe make roots somewhere ya know?”
“Yeah. That’s awesome,” she smirked.
“What’s so funny?”
“Well, now that Katie is off the market I have no one to be a wingwoman for. Looks like you’re my next victim.”
Benny groaned, “Oh jeez. You sure you don’t wanna go spy on Connor again?”
___________________________
The conversation between Katie and Will flowed naturally on their drive. Will was thankful for the kiss before they left, it helped to relax him.
“So are you gonna tell me where we’re going?”
Will quickly glanced over to Katie, “You don’t like surprises?”
She smirked looking out the window trying to see if she could guess where they were going based on the streets. “I do, but I still want to know.”
“We’re almost there.”
Will smiled to himself as he kept navigating to their destination. It had been a while since he had gone on a date, so he asked Santiago for some ideas. He also texted Megan to vet some of the places, the last thing he wanted to do was take her somewhere she had a bad experience on another date.
He finally landed on an idea that was named one of Tampa’s best date night spots. It was located right on the Hillsborough River with vendors for food and drinks along with a marketplace.
“So, I think we’re in Tampa Heights…ooo are we, no never mind,” she shook her head.
“What?” Will smirked, raising an eyebrow. He was amused that she was close to catching on to where they were going and she seemed excited about it.
She smiled and kept her gaze out of the window as Will turned onto Market Street. “Oh my gosh, we are going there aren’t we?”
Before them was a large former industrial facility that had been restored, keeping its historical charm with some modern touches. There was a rooftop bar and vendors scattered throughout.
“Oh my gosh, I’ve read about this place and saw it on Instagram! It looks even more beautiful in person! Did you know that this used to be a maintenance barn for TECO streetcars and trolleys? They completely renovated it a few years ago but they kept some of the original features like exposed brick, skylights, windows, and even some of the hardwood floors are supposed to be from the original place. How’d you know?”
Will parked the car and turned to look at her, “I had a feeling. Seemed like a place you might like. I knew you liked design, but I didn’t realize how much, so that’s a bonus.”
She leaned over and kissed him, gently cupping his face. “Thank you, this is awesome.”
“We haven’t even left the car yet, how low were your expectations?”
She rolled her eyes, “Oh stop it. C’mon, let’s go!”
They hit up the food stalls first, looking up and down the vendors to see what they wanted. There were a ton of choices from pizza to sushi and everything in between. Katie liked that they could each get something they wanted.
“One of these spots ok? They have a restaurant upstairs if you would rather do that.”
“No, this is great! Why don’t we grab some bites here and then maybe have a drink upstairs?”
“I like the plan, I also like that you aren’t trying to run for the hills,” Will said as he pulled her in for a quick kiss.
“Don’t be silly, I don’t wanna leave. You haven’t paid for my dinner yet,” she winked and laughed as Will kissed her again.
Katie finally settled on a couple of sushi rolls which looked like works of art, while Will opted for some empanadas.
“Lucille is going to kill you if she knows you ate someone else’s empanadas,” Katie laughed.
“Well, it can be our little secret,” he winked.
They enjoyed their meal, sampling another couple of vendors before venturing to a little shop to see what the local artisans had on display. Katie’s eyes lit up looking at all of the art and home decor. She dragged Will from one corner of the store to the other as she admired all of the pieces. She reached a wall full of clocks, looking each one over.
“Do any of these stand out?” Will asked as he stood next to her, observing both her and the clocks in front of him.
“Hmm...a few. Just trying to decide which room I'd put one of these in.” She crossed her arms in front of her, tapping her index finger to her lips, causing Will’s breath to hitch as he itched to kiss her again.
Her eyes fell on a very simple, minimalistic clock. It was round, gray, and bare; no numbers appeared on the clock face. The hour and minute hands were very simple silver bars. She could feel Will’s eyes on her, no doubt probably judging her. “What?”
“Nothing. I just wouldn’t have pegged that one for you. But I like it,” he smiled.
“You do? You don’t think it’s too simple?”
He shook his head. “No, I think simple can be nice sometimes.”
“I think it can go in my bedroom maybe, or office.”
“Well, let me get it for you,” he looked over, knocking his shoulder against hers.
“What? I can’t let you do that, Will.”
“But I want to. Please?”
She smiled, wrapping her arms around his waist and hugging him. “Thank you.”
Once Will paid, he took the bag in one hand and gave Katie his other arm as they headed upstairs for a drink. After their first cocktail, the pair moved a bit closer together, Katie not so conspicuously touching Will’s arm whenever she threw her head back in laughter. Will found his hand gravitating to rest on Katie’s thigh, rubbing circles with his thumb.
They finished a couple of rounds of drinks and decided to head down to the river for a walk. On the way, Katie reached for Will’s hand, resting her other hand on his bicep so she could curl into him. His chest puffed out a bit, proud that she was on his arm as he observed men walk by and check Katie out. For her part, Katie noticed all of the eyes that trailed after Will.
“This has been an awesome night, thank you,” Katie stopped and looked at Will who was bathed in moonlight. “It’s the best first date I’ve been on in…well, a long time, I’ll put it that way.”
“Good, I’m glad,” Will smiled as he leaned in, grabbing the back of her neck to kiss her. It wasn’t until someone walked by and whistled that they remembered they were in public.
“We should probably head out huh?” Katie managed with a breathy tone.
“Yeah, that’s probably a good call.”

Megan and Benny returned to the rendezvous point a few minutes early, Megan looking around trying to spot Connor and Aria.
“They’ll be here. Jesus, can you calm down!”
“I can’t help it. I feel like I did really well, all things considered.”
Benny threw his head back to laugh while rolling his eyes, “You went a whole hour. Congratulations. Ow!” Megan playfully slapped him on the arm.
“Hey, mom!”
Megan turned around to see Connor and Aria holding hands. “Oh my gosh, look at-”
“Y’all have fun?” Benny interrupted.
“Y-yea, it was a lot of fun,” Aria said looking up at Connor, who blushed.
“Sweet, I want to hear all about it on the drive home.” Benny smiled.
______________________________
Will kept his hand on Katie’s thigh as they talked on the ride home. They both wondered how the Connor and Aria date night went, knowing they would get full debriefs from a best friend and brother who were equally as excited to hear about their evening, whenever it ended.
As they got closer to Torrey Hills, they got a little quieter. Will wondered how to end the date, although if he had his way he'd still be there in the morning. Katie fidgeted with her hands, looking out the window. She had prepared herself for whenever the night may hold, opting for her favorite pair of silky underwear she hoped Will would like. It had been a while since she had sex with anyone, the furthest she’d gone in recent months was some fingering and a blow job here or there.
She shifted a bit in her seat, feeling a bit of pressure in her lower abdomen.
Fuck. This better not be happening.
“Everything ok?” Will asked, looking over at her when he stopped at a red light.
“Y-yeah, sorry,” she gave a tight smile. “Just daydreaming.”
“Ah, okay,” he turned his gaze back to the road, giving her thigh a slight squeeze.
Once Will turned down Mule Fall Court, Katie’s blood pressure started to spike. She didn’t want to give Will any false impression before she could confirm what she thought was happening to her body.
He parked in her driveway and kept the Jeep running. “I…uh, I had a great night, Katie.”
“I did too,” she leaned over the center console and pressed her lips to his. His hand gently rested on her neck. As she pulled away, she slightly sucked on his bottom lip. “D-do you want to come in for a drink?”
Will rubbed his bottom lip with his thumb and gave her an up-and-down, “Yeah, I’d like that.”
He took her hand as she led him up her sidewalk to her porch and front door. As she reached for her keys in her purse, Will pressed soft kisses to the back of her neck as his hands moved to her waist. Katie giggles as she struggles to concentrate on opening her door.
She finally successfully opened the door, after struggling to get the key into the lock a few times thanks to Will. She turned to close the door and he met her, grabbing her face to bring her in for a kiss as he kicked the door closed. Getting caught up in everything, Katie started to thread her hands underneath his shirt, feeling his taut back muscles. His hands move up her dress to the zipper.
“W-wait,” Katie pulled back.
Will pressed his forehead to hers, “Sorry, I didn’t mea-”
“No, no it’s ok. I…uh…I just need to use the bathroom,” she chuckled. “I’m so fucking lame.”
“Oh. Well yeah, go ahead. I can, uh, I can wait for you here.” He motioned to her couch.
“Ugh sorry, stupid bladder,” Katie whined. “I’ll be right back.” She gave him a quick peck before she rushed down the hallway to her bedroom.
Will sat down on the couch, trying to not get his hopes up. He wondered if maybe this was a ploy for her to change into something else, the thought of which made his dick twitch.
She probably actually has to use the bathroom. He chastised himself.
He felt his phone buzz.
Benny: Just made it home. I see you aren’t here so hope it’s going well. I won’t wait up 😉
“Fuckin Benny,” Will shook his head.
______________________
Katie rushed through the door of her bathroom quickly pulling down her underwear as she sat down to pee. She almost instantly felt a cramp.
You have got to be fucking kidding me.
When she wiped she saw what she had been dreading - blood.
It would be my goddamn luck to be about to hook up with a hot guy and I get my period. Fuuuuck.
She froze a bit unsure what to do before ducking into her walk-in closet, closing the door, and pulling out her phone.
C’mon, pick up.
“I’m kind of mad you’re calling me this early in the night,” Megan said as she picked up the phone.
“Meg, fuck, you aren’t going to fucking believe this,” Katie whispered. “I got my period.”
“Oh shit. Where are you?”
“I’m in my closet, I told him I had to go to the bathroom. I started feeling crampy on the way home and I didn’t want him doing anything before I confirmed. Ugh, this sucks.”
“Ok, ok, hmmm. Let’s think about this. First of all, Will is super sweet so he’s totally going to understand. Do you want him to leave? Need me to fake an emergency or something?”
“No, no you don’t need to do that. I mean, I don’t know how he feels about this kind of stuff. But I’m definitely not trying to do anything tonight.”
“Katie. The man is almost 40, he lived with a woman before. I think he knows what a period is. Just tell him, I know he’ll understand.”
“Ugh, I can’t believe this is happening. It wasn’t supposed to come for another few days.”
“There’s a joke there somewhere, but I know you’re stressed so I won’t say it.”
“I can’t fucking stand you,” Katie laughed as Megan cracked up on the other end of the phone. “Ugh, I've been gone for a while, so let me go out there. Poor guy is probably thinking I snuck out of a window or something.”
“Well, good luck, not that you need it. The guy is totally into you. I’m sure he’s down to cuddle or grab a boob or something.”
“Bye!” Katie hung up the phone, popped in a tampon and scampered back out to the living room where Will was sitting with his eyes closed, legs wide as he rested his head on the back of the couch.
“Psst. Did you fall asleep on me?” Katie whispered.
Will squinted an eye open and smirked. “I would never fall asleep on you.”
Katie laughed as she came over to Will, standing between his legs with her hands on his shoulders as his hands trailed up her legs and under her dress. “So…I have some bad news.”
“What’s that?” He scrunched his face, bringing his hands back to rest on his thighs.
“I…uh…” Katie sat down next to him. “Shit this is going to sound presumptuous…but, um, I wasn’t sure if you were trying to…ugh.” She brought her head into her hands.
“Hey, what’s wrong? Did I do something to make you uncomfortab-”
“I’m on my period.” Katie blurted out, cutting WIll off.
He looked from side to side, confused. “Ohhhhkay. And what’s the problem?”
“I…uh, well, I wasn’t sure if you wanted…I…”
“Hey! It’s ok,” he rubbed her back. “Are you feeling ok?”
She shook her head, “No, I'm starting to feel some cramps.”
“D-do you want me to leave? Or go get you something?”
“No, I…do you want to leave?”
“N-no. Whatever you want. I’m cool to just chill.”
“Really? You aren’t mad?”
“Mad? No. I just want to hang out with you…I mean, obviously I want to do more, but I can wait.”
They looked eyes and Katie was overcome and pressed her lips to Will’s. “You are so fucking sweet you know that?" Will blushed. “You ok if we watch a movie?”
“Yeah, that’s fine with me.”
“Ok cool, I’m going to throw some sweats on. Just put on whatever, I don’t care,” she handed him the remote and walked to her room to change.
When she came back she saw Will rummaging through her freezer, finding a pint of ice cream, and moving to get a couple of spoons. Katie smiled to herself at how at ease Will looked in her space.
“Ah, there you are. This ok?” He held up the ice cream and spoons. “Wasn’t sure if you were an ice cream girl or a chocolate girl.”
“Ice cream is fine, Will, thank you,” She smiled as she sat on the couch, curling up in a blanket.
Will sat in the corner of her couch and Katie scooched over to cuddle into his chest. He wrapped one arm around her, rubbing up and down her shoulder. She held the pint for both of them to eat as they watched a superhero movie. Frankly, Katie wasn’t able to concentrate on the screen, she was giddy over what was happening in real life. Will taking care of her, giving her a shoulder to rest on as they enjoyed a quiet night at home. She made a mental note to repay him when she felt a little better.
Katie’s eyes started to get heavy and Will heard her slightly snoring. She looked so sweet when she was sleeping. He felt bad waking her up, but he couldn’t let her sleep on the couch.
“Hey, Katie,” he whispered, caressing the side of her face.
She leaned into his touch, “Hmm? Shit, did I fall asleep?”
“Yeah, sweetheart you did. Here let’s get you to bed ok?”
“Can you come with me?”
“W-what?”
“Can you stay?”
Will felt his face get warm, “Y-you want me to?” Katie gave a sleep nod. “Ok, yeah. Um, here let me lock up and clean this stuff up and I’ll meet you okay?”
“‘Kay,” Katie got up and stretched before trudging down the hallway.
Will made quick work of checking all of the doors and windows and rinsed their spoons in the sink before heading to Katie’s room.
When he walked in, she was slipping into bed under the covers.
“Um, i-is, is it ok if I get out these?” He motioned to his jeans.
“Yea, however you’re comfortable, Will,” she said half asleep already.
A/N: Hope you liked seeing a few different storylines take more shape. I know some of you may have questions about Santi’s night. The chapter was getting long and frankly nothing of consequence happened with him anyway, Melissa and the boys go out and have a fun night. I may do a little deleted scene sometime because writing David makes me laugh. Also, I know some have shipped Benny and Megan. I don’t want to play spoiler, but they are just friends. But don’t worry, romance is in both of their futures.
Will got down to his boxer briefs, leaving his jeans, shirt, and socks on the floor near the bed. He got into the bed facing Katie, who had her back to him. Once he was fully under the covers, Katie shuffled back towards him. Their bodies fit together like two puzzle pieces as he draped an arm around her waist, pulling her close. She could feel his breath which lulled her to sleep. Will took a deep breath and fell asleep with a smile on his face.

Let me know if you want to be on the tag list moving forward!! Apologies if I accidentally left you off, I do it all manually and may have missed someone … just let me know!

A Carmen Berzatto Universe
A/N: Thanks for your patiences while I was out of town! This was another request - see below. My request box is still open :)
Tumblr media
Vanessa Monaghan is the breath of fresh air that Carmen had been gasping for.
Page 13: Tostones
“You’ll be back before you know it,” Carmen reassured as the taxi driver loaded the suitcase and tote, hugging Vanessa tightly.
“M’gonna miss you,” she mumbled into his chest, her winter coat bundled in his arms.
“I’m gonna miss you, too, baby,” Carmen kissed her cheek, rubbing up and down her back. “I’ll come pick you up at the airport on Sunday,” he reminded. “If you don’t get in the car soon, you’re gonna be late.” Vanessa nodded, taking a step back. “Give me a kiss,” he demanded softly, to which she complied, pressing her lips to his.
“Text you before takeoff,” she promised.
Carmen saw her car off, sighing, before turning back into the building. Heading up the elevator, the apartment felt different with Vanessa gone. Sure, he’d been in there alone plenty of times in the last 10 months, but knowing she was on her way to another state for a whole week wasn’t quite the same.
Vanessa had been asked to speak at a marketing summit in Miami for the week, participating in a keynote tomorrow, Tuesday, and a panel on Friday afternoon. She’d fly back Saturday morning, leaving Carmen on his own the entire week.
They had really hit their stride with timing and at the point in their relationship, when all they wanted to do was be together, it was awful being apart.
The first day went by quickly.
Carmen was busy with work and Vanessa was doing a lot of networking and mingling with young professionals who were clamoring to get an internship in her office.
Every time she changed, she’d send picture of her outfit to Carmen. He looked forward to her updates every day, but especially her pajamas at night, which usually included his boxers or his old Cubs T-shirt.
The second day wasn’t so bad either, there was less texting between the two of them – Vanessa in the thick of keynotes and networking, and Carmen working on The Bear’s fiscal year-end paperwork.
On the morning of Day Three, Vanessa gave Carmen an early-morning FaceTime call.
“Hi Gorgeous,” he greeted, having just returned from the farmer’s market. He was meeting with a few vendors there and snagged a few healthy handfuls of kale to make wedding soup.
“Hi baby,” Vanessa sighed an exhale, her hair in rollers but her makeup all done. She propped her phone up on the bathroom vanity and he watched, enraptured, as she went about taking down her hair in a plush robe.
“How’s Miami?” He asked, leaning over the kitchen island.
“Not as warm as I’d like, but the conference has been good,” she replied. “There’s also this sweet little Cuban coffee shop across from the hotel, but the mom of the owner makes tostones and black beans and rice every morning, you’d just die,” she gushed. “Can you try and make them for me when I come home?” She asked, fluffing up her hair in a way that made her look like his personal 90’s wet dream.
“Yeah, I can try,” he laughed.
“There’s also a stray cat that like lives in the hotel, he’s so sweet,” she sighed. “Should we get a kitty?”
“Ness, you’re allergic,” Carmen reminded her.
“I know, but I could get medicine for it,” she said thoughtfully, carrying her phone over to the main room and propping it up in her closet. Dropping her robe, he eyed her with precision in her black bra and matching thong.
“Hi beautiful,” He murmured, feeling heat at his temples as she held up two dresses against her body.
“Blue or green?” She asked, checking out her options in her reflection of the phone. “Blue,” she decided.
“Blue,” he agreed, though she’d look beautiful in anything. The dressed slipped down the figure of her body like silk and she spent the next few moments adjusting.
“Okay baby, I’m going to take off, I’m meeting a group of college grads for coffee so they can grill me,” she sighed, picking up the phone again and stepping into her heels.
He watched her spritz her perfume across the line of her collarbone and felt a longing tugging at his belly button. Damn, he missed her a lot. He could smell the perfume from Chicago.
“Call me tonight?” He asked, leaning back against the sink and tucking his free hand across his chest into his underarm.
“Of course,” she smiled, pursing her lips in a kiss before ending the call. Looking down he could see he was half-hard in his joggers. At least he had plenty of Vanessa’s outfit photos to get him through the morning.
That night was a different story. The day had gotten away from both of them, and as Carmen was riding the train back toward the apartment, his phone dinged.
He was grateful there was no one sitting next to him when he opened his texts from Vanessa to see a handful of racy shots of her in her bra and panties – some with either one or the other. His favorite was the one of her in his old Cubs shirt – nipples visible through the fabric as she fisted it to cover between her legs, but her bare hips on display.
From: Vanessa
My fingers aren’t as good since I know what yours feel like.
One more jostle from the train and Carmen was going to pop a full boner.
Carmen didn’t want to remind her of the time left apart, so instead of messaging her fuck that conference, come home, he went another angle.
To: Vanessa
You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life and when you get home I’m going to fuck you absolutely dumb.
Across the country in Miami, Vanessa giggled wildly, feeling like she was back in high school with a crush on the quarterback. But with Carmy, it as more like a crush on the A/V Club President.
Vanessa got through Day Five slowly. The coffee wasn’t helping the way she needed it to and she’d had just enough of fluorescent lighting and young professionals handing her their resumes. She admired their gas, but now, on Thursday, knowing she wasn’t going home until Saturday, she was pretty miserable.
Skipping lunch at the conference, she grabbed a salad at her hotel before flopping on her bed. She knew Carm would be at The Bear in the thick of lunch prep, so she called her Dad and chatted with him for a while instead. The afternoon passed slowly and she flopped on her bed after arriving home after a happy hour that evening.
From: Vanessa
Can you send me some nudies, I miss you.
Carmen shook his head as he checked his phone in the office
To: Vanessa
At work, sorry, miss you too beautiful.
She laughed, knowing full well that he would never send her nudes regardless of whether or not he was at work.
From: Vanessa
Just a little selfie? I want to see your cute face.
Carmen cleared his throat, fixing just a curl or two before snapping a photo of himself at his desk before sending it off.
From: Vanessa
You have all day Saturday off, right?
Carmen didn’t get a chance to reply before another text pinged.
From: Vanessa
We’re gonna need a full day.
Carmen still wasn’t sure how he got so lucky with her.
Vanessa really did try to make the best of her last day in Miami. She went for a run in the morning, grabbed a coffee and tostones from her favorite little spot and took a painstaking amount of time on her hair and makeup. She moderated a panel on the last afternoon and turned down the conference-ending activities to go back to her room, pack and turn in early.
Vanessa’s flight left Miami at 7 a.m. and put her back at Midway by 9 a.m. Carmen was already waiting at baggage claim with a Cuban coffee in his hands when she appeared at carousel 4.
“Carmen,” she breathed, feeling the tightness across her shoulders lax.
“Hi baby,” he greeted, having just enough time to set the two cups down before hugging her tightly. He stroked his hand down her hair and kissed her cheek over and over as she squeezed him. “Kiss me, I missed you,” he commanded softly, to which Vanessa gladly obeyed.
“Missed you more,” she sighed against lips.
“Don’t leave again any time soon,” he advised, slanting his mouth over hers.
“Take me home,” she all but begged.
“I’ll grab your suitcase, you zip up this coat,” he tugged on the zipper of her cropped puffer. The ride back from the airport to the condo felt longer than ever, but just moments after arriving home, Carmen was pinned to the sofa, Vanessa in his lap as she kissed him fervently.
“Is it pathetic that every day I thought about how much I missed you?” She asked, holding the back of his neck in her laced fingers, her thumb running over his Adam’s apple.
“If it is, then I’m equally pathetic,” Carmen said, looking up at her with pure adoration in his eyes.
“I’ve never felt like this about another person,” Vanessa confessed, pressing her hips forward into him. “I wanna be with you all the time,” she leaned into Carmen’s touch as he ran his hand through her hair gently.
“I think for me – it’s you,” he said sincerely.
Vanessa didn’t care they hadn’t been together for a year yet – she agreed with a kiss.

hii, can u do a Shuri x reader where the reader is in college and is getting verbally and physically abused by her parents due to her bad academics performance but she won’t tell Shuri because she has a country to worry about until Shuri eventually finds out because the reader won’t answer calls or texts? <33
Hello everyone! I took a tiny hiatus because I had a very huge loss in my family right before New years so I was not in the mental headspace to write anything. However, I am back and unfortunately the college semester is in full swing. Pls send help im dying
TRIGGER WARNING: Mentions of verbally and physically abusive parents
Word count:1k
As always, happy reading :)
“y/n, you better not be crying in your room before I come in there and give you something to cry about!”
I quickly attempt to muffle my sobs by burying my head in my comforter on the bed, hoping and praying that my parents can’t hear me. God knows I don’t need another beating after what happened tonight.
It always happens like this. Every single time. I do my best, get anything lower than an A and I know as soon as I come home I’m gonna have my ass beat. No matter how hard the class is or how hard I work they don’t care because if it isn’t an A it is considered a failure. I went to the college they wanted me to go to because I could stay home and make money but that meant I couldn’t escape their abuse.
This semester I had a slip up and got a C in a class and in turn they beat the shit out of me as a form of “teaching me” a lesson. It's not just the physical abuse, every insult was a purposeful stab at me because I failed to meet their expectations or it was just because they had a shitty day and wanted to hurt my feelings. I am at a breaking point mentally, emotionally, and physically.
I hear my phone vibrate and I pick my head up from my comforter to look at my phone and see Shuri’s name pop up on the screen. A smile slightly at the thought of her but wince when I feel the tightness of my skin from my tears drying. I slowly move over to where my phone is so I can text back before she gets worried.
Shuri always knew my schedule and when I suddenly don't answer and she knows I'm at home, she gets worried sick. I shoot her a text and let her know I cant talk and just as I am about to hit send she calls me. Out of fear I quickly answer and start speaking in hushed tones so that my parents dont hear me.
“Shuri, i love you, but right now really isn’t a good time.”
She pauses and asks, “Are you at home?”
“What? Yes I’m at home, you know my routine plus you can track me right now.” I say in confusion.
“My love, I have been trying to call you for the last 2 hours.”
I go silent for a moment and try to figure out how to explain the entire situation without getting Shuri upset or involved with my parents. She takes my silence as a negative response and begins to respond before I can.
“y/n if you have something going on, please just tell me.”
I bite my lip and respond on the verge of tears, “Shuri I want to tell you, I really do but if I say anything… I-”
I get cut off by my mom coming up the stairs and I shove my phone under my pillow but don’t end the call so Shuri can hear everything.
“Who are you talking to up here, huh?”
I look at her impassively so that she believes me, “No one mom, I'm rereading something for my test tomorrow.”
“Yeah, you better be because if I see you come home with another B or less, you are gonna get your ass beat again. I'm not playing with you, your father and I have told you time and time again that we expect you to achieve and you fall short every time.”
I feel my eyes getting watery but otherwise show no emotion and respond as I always do, “of course, I’ll make sure its nothing less than an A.”
My mother looks at me hard and nods, “Keep studying and while you’re at it, dust your room and do laundry.”
With that she leaves to go back down stairs for the night and I pick up my phone from under my pillow.
“Shuri, are you still there?”
Instead of a reply I get a facetime call and I accept it quickly, frowning at her when she appears on screen.
“What's wrong? Why did you need to facetime me-”
Shuri looks at me angrily, “How long has this been happening?”
“How long has what been happening?” I say, playing dumb and hoping that she will drop the conversation.
“y/n.”
I sigh, “years, I… never said anything because I know you are busy and this is not your concern and responsibility.”
“All those bruises over the last few months, they were your parents weren’t they?” she whispered.
Looking down and picking at my comforter I mutter a soft “ya.”
She sighed and didn’t say anything for a moment, seemingly unsure of how to broach the subject without hurting me or making me uncomfortable. Then she finally asks, “What else have they…done?”
I hesitate and glance at her on the screen, “It’s just yelling and berating me most of the time but when I get a bad grade they, uh, beat me.”
“Is that why you reacted poorly when I yelled a few weeks back?”
I nod and she looks away from her screen guiltily, “No, Shuri don’t do that to yourself, you didn’t know back then.”
“I should have picked up on it though, I mean seriously the bruises and the flinching whenever my voice was raised should have told me everything I needed to know.”
I see her moving around frantically packing things and I frown because as far as I knew, she didn’t have a meeting and wasn’t expected to go anywhere this evening. When she glances over and sees my confused look she shrugs and raises an eyebrow.
“What?”
“Shuri… what are you doing?” I ask with my head cocked to the side.
“I’m coming to see you… and talk to your parents.”
“YOU'RE WHAT?”
A/N: Please forgive any grammatical errors, I am extremely tired and have had a looonnngggg week.

———————————————————————
You groan as you groggily lift you head up at the sound of your phone ringing. You pull yourself up from the comfy bed and look at the screen to find David calling
The ringing stops as soon as you reach the phone and your greeted with a horrifying sight
(12 missed calls from David)
(13 messages from David)
(11 missed calls from Dwayne)
(9 messages from Dwayne)
(27 missed calls from marko)
(21 messages from marko)
(3 missed calls from Paul)
(2 messages from Paul)
(45 missed calls from my angel girl ❤️)
(15 messages from my angel girl ❤️)
(52 missed calls from my idiotic boyfriend ❤️)
(42 messages from my idiotic boyfriend)
You groan as a throbbing headache begins to form. You look around the room and find many empty beer cans and bottles of vodka surrounding the bed.
“You all good?” Michael groaned from the makeshift bed he made for himself on the floor. You jump slightly at his voice
“Why am i in your bed?” You questioned confused “why are you on the floor
“You insisted that we party last night so we went to rhythm kitchen, and it got too much to handle I guess” Michael answered as he rubbed his eyes “and I’m on the floor because not only would your boyfriend kill me, but your fathers would also brutally murder me if they found out we spent the night with me in my bed”
“They know we’re not like that” you reassured with a pat the shoulder “your like a brother”
“I know but I didn’t want you to wake up scared” he reasoned “I know you get anxious when people are in the bed with you sometimes”
“Well I’m not now” you pat the other side of his bed “let’s watch YouTube together until I can sneak out”
Michael shrugged and joined you with on the bed while also maintaining a distance from you. That’s when you heard two other sets of groans.
“Why is it so bright” Edgar winced and covered his eyes as he rose from the foot of the bed
“Close the curtains” Alan whined out as he jumped onto the end of the bed, Edgar quickly joining him. This effectively squished you all together
“When the hell did you two get here?” Michael whisper yelled
“We joined you two after you both fell over and knocked our comic book display down” Alan said calmly
“Not cool bro” Edgar piped up
You just got yourself comfortable when you all heard a knock on the door. Lucy opened it and let herself in before cooing at you all
“You just look so cute” she exclaimed excitedly “I’ve gotta get a picture”
“Mom” Michael groaned in embarrassment
“Oh okay” Lucy sighed “when your ready, I’ve got breakfast waiting for you all downstairs”
“How did you know they were here?” Michael questioned confused
“Your a loud drunk” Lucy laughed before exiting
Sam entered and looked at you all with disgust as you leaned your head on Michael and watched a YouTube deep dive on vampires.
Sam stayed staring at you for a few seconds before you motioned to him
“Wanna join?” You asked with a grin
Sam rolled his eyes before crawling on the bed and barging his way through until he felt comfortable.
It was like five siblings all enjoying each others company without staying anything. Eventually the rest got up to get breakfast
“You coming?” Sam asked annoyed
“One second, I need to message my dad” you explain as you pull your phone back into your hands

Found Family (Upstead + Teenager)
A/N: I'm back! This idea was totally random, and I just went with it. But, I hope you like it, and please remember to reblog and comment!
Enjoy!
Hailey groaned as she rolled over and tried to find her phone.
"We got a case?" Jay grumbled from beside her.
Finally, she found it and jumped out of bed when she saw the name on the screen.
"I take that as a yes," Jay said.
"No," she said quickly, then answered and left the room. "Y/N, is everything okay?" she asked as she made her way into the kitchen and turned on the light.
"Yes." But Hailey could hear the tremble in your voice. "No. I don't- I don't know."
"Okay, can you tell me what's going on?" Hailey asked gently like she had done when you were six years old and fell off the monkey bars at the park and she had to ask you what was hurting.
"My mom and dad are out of town for a business trip and it's my first time being home alone overnight. I thought I'd be fine, but I guess I'm not. I didn't know who else to call."
"Oh, honey," she said, using the name she used to call you when she was comforting you as a kid. "I shouldn't have to work tomorrow unless we get a big case, so do you want me to come over?"
"You'd do that?" you asked.
"Of course. I just need to pack a bag and I'll be there in, at the latest, an hour," Hailey told you.
"Okay. Thank you so much, Hailey. I don't know what I'd do without you."
"Hey, best friends forever, right?" she asked, referencing the pinky promise the two of you had made when she was eighteen and you were eight.
"Best friends forever," you repeated.
Hailey ended the call and walked back into her and Jay's bedroom and then into the bathroom to splash her face with some water and rinse her mouth with mouthwash. She'd only be sleeping there, so she didn't need to get totally ready, but she still needed to appear at least halfway put together.
"What was that about?" Jay asked as he wrapped his arms around Hailey's waist while she swished mouthwash in her mouth.
She spit the mouthwash into the sink. "It was Y/N."
"I thought you said her and her family were in the Hamptons?"
"They got back like a week ago. And now they left on a business trip and left Y/N home and it's her first time home alone overnight and she's a little anxious, so I'm gonna go stay with her."
"Once the babysitter, always the babysitter," Jay chirped.
Hailey rolled her eyes. "Shut up."
"When do I get to meet this great kid anyway?" Jay asked and Hailey just shrugged. "How about breakfast tomorrow? Whenever you two wake up, just text me and we can meet somewhere."
"I don't know, Jay."
"Why not? You've known this girl for ten years. And, didn't you say that she said she got a say in who you married?"
Hailey laughed. Throughout their partnership--and now relationship--she had told him a few stories of her adventures when she was babysitting you. "She said that when she was like ten and I was twenty. Six years ago. I doubt she remembers it."
"Still. So, breakfast tomorrow?" he pestered.
"I'll talk to Y/N about it."
***
Hailey sent you a text when she pulled in so you knew it was her the minute she knocked on the door.
"Sorry," you apologized once more. "I shouldn't have called you, I should've just dealt with it--"
"Y/N, it's no big deal. You're like a little sister to me." It was then that you noticed the two Starbucks drinks in her hands. "I grabbed us tea lattes and figured we could watch tv until you fell asleep."
You nodded and grabbed a few extra blankets.
"So," Hailey started as you flipped to Netflix, "you have a boyfriend?"
You laughed. "That's how this is gonna go?"
"Hey, if I remember correctly, I was the one who taught you how to use a tampon, so I should be the one to know about your love life."
"I thought we agreed not to talk about that!" You paused to take a sip of your tea latte. "But, to answer your question, my love life is nonexistent. What about you? And you can't back out, remember? We made a pinky promise and those are legally binding."
"I don't think that's how it works, but I am seeing someone," she answered.
You put down your drink, your full attention now on Hailey. "Seeing someone like casually," you began and wiggled your eyebrows, "or seeing someone like seriously?"
"It's my partner, Jay," Hailey answered. "Pretty sure I've mentioned him a few times."
"Wait, was he the one that got hurt last year?"
"That's the one."
"Oooh! I have to come up with a ship name for you two! Wait, is he cute? Please tell me he's cute. I can't ship you two if he isn't cute."
"Y/N, slow down. You're supposed to be relaxing and going to bed."
"Right, right. But, it's the weekend, so..." you trailed off.
Hailey sighed. "Fine. And, what's a ship name?"
"You know, like for Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, it was Jelena. So, maybe Jailey? Wait, no that sounds like how it was with Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus when they were shipped in these fanfictions."
Hailey laughed. "I forgot how much you liked Bieber."
"Ahh, middle school me," you sighed. "Before I got obsessed with tv shows instead."
"What's the current show you're watching? Isn't it a cop show?"
"I'm working through all three of the FBIs and then I plan on watching NCIS: Los Angeles," you answered. "But, now with school, there's not much time."
"Yeah, how's school going?"
"Don't change the subject! I need to see a picture of this Jay guy. First, we talk about your boyfriend, then we talk about me and school because your love life is way more interesting than me and school."
Hailey pulled out her phone. "Fine. This is Jay."
She showed you her lock screen which was a picture of her and Jay and they were both smiling like idiots and had on their police blues.
"Okay, okay," you said and nodded approvingly. "He's cute! Is he nice? Does he open the door for you?"
"Y/N, he's my partner at work and I trust him with my life. Of course, he's nice! As for the door thing, he does that when we find the time to go on dates."
"What's his last name?"
Hailey raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Because I can't use your guys' first names for your ship name, so I have to go with your last names." She raised an eyebrow at you. "Fine. And I need to find his Instagram."
She rolled her eyes. "Of course you do. His last name's Halstead."
"Hmm," you hummed. "Hailey Halstead. Has a nice ring to it."
Hailey threw her head back and laughed. "We are not even close to thinking about marriage. We just started dating two months ago."
"Two months! You kept this from me for two months!"
"Well, I couldn't exactly just call up the girl I used to babysit and say Hey, Y/N, guess what? I have a boyfriend now, could I?"
"Rude. I thought we were besties, now I'm just the girl who you used to babysit?"
"You know what I mean.."
"Fine. Upton, Halstead. Halton. No, that sounds weird." You furrowed your eyebrows. You took ship names very seriously. Then, you got it. "How about Upstead? That sounds good, right?"
"I mean, I'll never use it, so sure."
"Upstead it is!"
Hailey laughed. "Ahh, to be a kid again."
"You're not old, Hailey."
"Thanks, kiddo. But I am 27."
"That's not old. Old is when you're thirty. You have three years left."
"Thanks. Real nice, Y/N, real nice."
You smiled and picked your drink back up. "I try."
"Now, onto you. How's school?"
You threw your head back and groaned. "Ugh, don't even get me started."
"That bad, huh?" Hailey asked with a smile while trying to hold back her laughter about how dramatic you were being.
"Five AP classes, yeah, I'd call it bad."
"Jesus, Y/N. Which ones are you taking?"
"Let's see. AP Spanish, AP stats, AP bio, AP lit, and AP anatomy and physiology."
"Wow. You're smarter than I ever was."
"Not really," you shrugged. "I just need to get out of here."
Hailey put that in the back of her mind to ask you about later. She knew that your parents were never around and that you felt lonely, but she didn't realize the extent of your feelings about it until now.
"Well, me and Jay have a spare bedroom, so you're welcome to stay with us anytime," she said. Which, maybe she should've talked to Jay about this before offering, but oh well.
"Wait, didn't you guys just start dating a few months ago? And you already moved in together?"
"We've been partners for two years now. That's why you should always be friends before you start dating."
"Yeah, that's what my parents say anyway." You rolled your eyes. "Do as they say and not what they do," you mumbled.
"What was that?"
"It's just my parents...ugh," you trailed off as tears stung your eyes. You put your drink back down and pressed the heels of your hands to your eyes.
You felt the couch dip beside you and then felt Hailey wrap an arm around you. "Y/N, what's going on?"
"I know my dad's cheating on my mom."
"Honey, I'm so sorry," Hailey said and started to rub your back as a few tears rolled down your cheeks.
You took a deep breath and looked up at her. "I even mentioned it to her and you know what she told me?" you asked rhetorically. "She told me that she was cheating on my dad and that they didn't even want me! They just stayed together for me, but they didn't want me in the first place!"
Hailey didn't know what to say, so she just sat there and held you while you let it all out.
"That's why I'm trying so hard in school," you said finally. "They're rich, but I don't want their money when I go to college. I want to do it all on my own." After all that, you were exhausted, so you just said, "Can we watch tv now?"
"Yeah," Hailey agreed. "We can. And, we can go out for brunch with Jay tomorrow because he wants to meet you."
"Why?"
"Because I told him about our pinky promise, so he thinks it's only fair that you meet him in person."
***
"How did you get to babysitting her anyway?" Jay asked after the three of you had ordered your breakfasts at a local diner the next day.
"I never told you that?" Hailey asked.
"No, you never told me that!" Jay exclaimed and then tapped his forehead. "It's like a vault up here; I'd remember if you told me."
Hailey patted him on the shoulder. "Just like you remembered to put the truck in park before we jumped out after a suspect."
"Hey! That was one time!"
"Yeah, because you looked back and saw your truck rolling down a hill in the Gold Coast."
"Wait, that was you guys?" you asked. "I heard some people at school talking about something like that. Were you in front of a coffee shop?"
Hailey just started laughing and Jay pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Oh, God," he muttered.
"Is there a video?" Hailey laughed.
"Probably."
"Hailey's never letting me drive again. Scratch that, Voight's never letting me drive again!"
"If you let me get the kitchen towels I want instead of the ugly brown ones you wanted, we never have to talk about this again," Hailey suggested.
"Deal!" he quickly agreed.
You laughed and shook your head. "Hailey, I approve."
At this, Hailey started laughing because Jay all of a sudden had a confused look on his face.
"Approve of what?" he asked. "Me?"
Hailey nodded her head as she continued to laugh.
Once her laughter died down, she said, "We made a pinky promise years ago that Y/N had to approve of who I was dating."
"Well, I'm glad I live up to her standards," Jay said without missing a beat. "Now, are you two ever gonna tell me how Hailey ended up babysitting you?"
You looked at Hailey. "I was six," you said. "So, I really don't know. How did that happen anyway?"
"My mom volunteered me," Hailey explained. "I was working in the kitchen of my parents' restaurant when my mom came back and asked if I wanted to babysit. She said two of our regulars were looking for a babysitter for their six-year-old daughter and mentioned me. She said I should go out on the floor and meet them. They gave me the job on the spot and the next day, I went over to meet you."
You furrowed your eyebrows, deep in thought as you tried to extract an old memory. "Did you bring donuts that day? Because I think I remember it."
"I did," Hailey confirmed. "Loukoumades. Greek donuts."
"Must be a thing with you," Jay said. "The first day you were officially part of Intelligence, that's what you brought."
"Maybe I shouldn't have because now you want them every weekend."
"So, how'd you two meet?" you asked.
"She walked into a bank and told me and my team to get the hell out."
Hailey whacked him on the chest. "Jay! I did not!"
"Maybe you didn't say it exactly like that. You were all like This is my crime scene," he mocked in a high-pitched voice.
"Because it was! Robbery-homicide was first on scene and there was a robbery and a homicide, therefore, it was my case."
"And then, after some arguing," Jay continued, "we worked together on the case and then there was an opening in Intelligence--our unit--and she took it. We got partnered up, and the rest is history, I guess."
"You're leaving out the part where you got shot, which made me realize my feelings. And, you better not do that again."
"You got shot?" you exclaimed.
"Yeah, it happens."
Hailey rolled her eyes. "You can play it off like it was nothing, but we both know it wasn't. Just, don't do it again."
Then Jay's phone buzzed and he glanced down at it.
"Case?" Hailey asked.
Jay quickly turned his phone on silent. "Just Will. I'll get it later."
In the short time the phone screen was lit up after the call was over, you saw Jay's background. It was of him and Hailey at a Blackhawks game.
"You like the Hawks?" you asked.
"Who doesn't?" Jay replied.
"Ugh, you two are so alike," Hailey groaned. "She could talk about hockey for hours, Jay."
"Really?" Jay asked, and you nodded.
Then, the two of you talked hockey for a few minutes.
"So, are you excited for opening night in a couple weeks?" he asked.
"Yeah! I actually have season tickets--well, my dad does--but I can't go because stupid homecoming is on that day."
Jay looked at Hailey and then back to you. "I thought girls liked homecoming."
"Maybe if I went to a public school, but try going to a fancy private school. It's all about who can spend the most money on their dress, dinner, a limo, who has the best refreshments in the limo. It's exhausting. Sometimes, I wish I went to public school."
"Ahh," Jay waved his hand, trying to make you feel better. "Public school's not that great. I can guarantee you, a private school DJ at a dance, is definitely better than a public school DJ. That's why I skipped most of my dances to--" he quickly cut himself off. "Nope, can't say that."
Hailey's jaw dropped, but she quickly recovered. "Let me guess, you and Will got wasted."
Jay chuckled. "Something like that." Then, he turned back to you. "Will's my older brother by the way."
"Oh, okay." You always wished you had a sibling. Preferably an older brother or an older sister to drive you around places and get fast food in the middle of the night with and who you could rant about your mom and dad with. But, you didn't have that. The closest thing you had to that was Hailey.
The three of you finished your food and then left the diner. Hailey dropped you off at your house and then you went inside to work on some homework. Your parents would be home late tonight, but honestly, it was nice when they weren't home...not that they paid much attention to you anyway.
The only time you felt you really spent time with them was when you and your dad were watching hockey or your mom was teaching you how to do something with makeup, which you promised to wear to school the next day. You didn't like makeup very much and typically didn't attempt to do it before school, but hey, if learning how to do winged eyeliner one afternoon was going to get your mom to spend time with you, then you'd learn how to do winged eyeliner.
You wished you had a bigger family and siblings you could talk to, like Jay had his brother, Will.
And, you didn't know it, but after that day at the diner with Hailey and Jay, you would find a whole other family to be a part of.
***
"I feel bad for her," Hailey said to Jay when she got home from dropping you back off at your house.
"Y/N?" Jay asked and paused the news channel he was watching. "Why?"
Hailey sighed and walked over and plopped down on the couch next to him.
"She told me that her parents are cheating on each other and her mom told her that they didn't even want her. And, the only reason that her mom and her dad are still together is because of her. And, they're rarely there for her. I was always at her house watching her when she was a kid. Always. Hell, I was probably more of a mom to her than her own mother was!"
"Hails..."
"No, Jay! I know you're going to say it's not true, but it is. Do you know how many times I had to sign her permission slips for field trips? And, God, one time she asked if she could come home with me."
"What?" Jay asked.
"She asked if I could be her mommy," Hailey said as tears formed in her eyes.
"Are you sure there wasn't any abuse going on?" Jay asked, quickly slipping into detective mode.
"Positive. She was like six, six and a half when she said that. I think she was just upset that her mom couldn't go on the field trip with her. But, still. Sometimes I wished she could've lived with me when I turned eighteen and moved out."
"Hailey, she couldn't have. There's no way that would've worked."
"I know, I know," Hailey agreed. "She was in a stable home, and the only thing her parents are guilty of is working all the time."
"How about we have her over for dinner on Wednesdays?" Jay asked. "That way you can make sure she's okay."
"I like that idea," Hailey agreed.
"That and it gives you an excuse to make loukoumades."
Hailey rolled her eyes. "Shut up."
***
"Hailey, you really didn't have to do this. I could've just ordered pizza," you said as you and Hailey entered her and Jay's apartment building.
"Exactly the reason I'm doing this. You needed a break from studying, Y/N," she said.
"I know, I know," you agreed.
"And, your brain needs something more sustainable than pizza...so I made pasta."
"And those donuts?" you asked excitedly.
"And loukoumades," Hailey confirmed.
The two of you made your way to Hailey and Jay's apartment and when you opened the door, you were greeted with the amazing smell of homemade Greek food.
"It smells amazing in here."
"Hands off, mister!" Hailey yelled when she saw that Jay was standing right where the loukoumades were cooling with his back to the door.
Jay turned around with a look of pure shock and horror on his face after being caught stuffing one of the Greek donuts into his mouth. "I couldn't help myself," he explained with his mouth still full.
Hailey just rolled her eyes and walked past him and started bringing the food to the table. "You see what I have to put up with every day?"
"Ah, he's not that bad," you said.
"Thank you!" Jay exclaimed and threw his hands up in the air. "At least Y/N's on my side. She is now officially my favorite kid."
"So, I'll leave it to you to tell Vanessa and Jordan they aren't your favorite kids anymore," Hailey said.
"Who's Vanessa and Jordan?" you asked.
"Our coworker's younger brother and sister. He's been raising them since he was a few years older than you," Hailey answered.
"Wow. I couldn't imagine me raising kids right now. What a shitshow."
Hailey laughed. "Hey, I could give you some pointers once they get to age six. How do you think I could stand babysitting you all the time?"
"Rude."
"Alright, everything's out. Let's eat."
***
And that's how your Wednesday nights have been for the past couple of weeks. Your parents were happy that you were getting out of the house and doing things because all you did was study. You had tried to explain to them that all of the private school kids were rich, pretentious snobs and assholes, so that's why you always hung out with Celine. And, because of homework and all the extracurriculars she did, the only time the two of you could hang out was on the weekends.
You had convinced Jay and Hailey to watch the season premier of Survivor with you, since it was on Wednesdays and now they liked the show, so you started watching that together.
You'd typically get there around 6:00, eat dinner, and then hang out and play cards (you had recently started betting candy on the Uno and Skip-Bo games), and then watch Survivor and then you'd go home.
"Opening night's Saturday," Jay started as the three of you were eating dinner a couple weeks later. This time, Hailey had decided to make stir fry with lo-mein...and Jay said he helped by going out and buying a bag of fortune cookies and then taste testing the stir fry when Hailey wasn't looking. "Think the season's gonna be good?"
You shrugged. "I dunno. The Hawks weren't that good last year. And, they traded Andrew Copp to the Wings, so that might not have been a good choice."
"Yeah," Jay agreed. "And they don't have Debrincat anymore."
"I thought he was gonna be in a Hawks jersey until he retired."
"Me too."
"So, when are you gonna watch the game?" Hailey asked. "You gonna stay up late after homecoming and watch it?"
"About that," you began, "I'm actually not going to homecoming. But don't tell my mom and dad!"
"What? Why?"
"Mom and Dad have a business trip that weekend, but I don't even know if it's a business trip or just an excuse for them to go see the people they're cheating on each other with and I'd rather go to the game than homecoming, so I'm just gonna return the dress on Saturday morning. And before you try and convince me to go, this is my junior year. I still have next year's homecoming to go to."
"Hey, I was never one for dances either," Hailey agreed. "I liked the before part of the dance when I'd get ready with my friends and we'd all eat dinner together. The dance was just kinda... there."
"Me too!" you agreed.
"So, who are you going with?" Jay asked. He was starting to see you how Hailey saw you, as a little sister that occasionally needed protection from the darkness of the world. "I don't think you should be going to the United Center all by yourself."
"With you guys?" you asked a bit nervously. If they said no, then there was no way you'd go. Celine was still going to homecoming because you didn't want her to miss it just because of you. Plus, she was a good dancer, so she actually enjoyed the dance, unlike you. "I have three tickets, so I was wondering if you two wanted to go with me? They're right where the players walk out, too, if that makes any difference."
"Hell yeah! We're in!" Jay yelled. "I love this kid!"
"Jay!" Hailey quickly elbowed him in the ribs to which he grunted at. "We're on call this weekend."
"So? I'll bribe Adam. You and me both know he'll take it."
"But, there's no way Kim's gonna take a bribe from me to work it."
"So? Bribe Kevin. Or, better yet, bribe Roman. I'd love to see Ruz and Roman work together."
"Oh, dear Lord. Ruz would smack the shit out of him after he got sick of Roman." She paused. "You know, then we'd have funny body cam footage to watch. I'll talk to Roman."
***
Opening night for the Blackhawks was finally here and you couldn't tell who was more excited, you or Jay. Jay had on a Blackhawks jersey and a Blackhawks hat, Hailey had on a Blackhawks t-shirt covered a bit by a jean jacket, but you could still tell that the t-shirt was obviously Jay's because it was so big on her, and you were also wearing a Blackhawks jersey. Jay also had a sign with him, but you still had no idea what it said because he said he wouldn't tell you until you got into the arena. He joked that it was more for his safety from the wrath of Hailey and she quickly told him to shut up.
When he finally unrolled the sign after you had made it to your seat, you saw what it said.
I skipped homecoming for this.
Then, he handed it to you.
"It's for you," he told you. "Figured it would get you on the Jumbotron."
You didn't think you'd ever smiled this big in your life. "Thank you. Even if they don't win, you guys have already made this the best opening night I've ever been to."
***
"How the hell is it that you can mess up everyone's orders so bad that we are risking our asses with Voight to sneak off and grab coffee?" Adam asked as he, Kevin, Hailey, and Jay all walked into a coffee shop.
"Because he's bad at remembering things," Hailey quipped.
"Things that aren't important to me. I know your coffee order by heart," he retorted.
"Guess we aren't as important as Hailey, Ruz," Kevin said.
"Guess not," Adam agreed.
"Oh, she is definitely more important than you two," Jay said.
"I'm gonna run to the bathroom," Hailey said. "Don't screw up my coffee, Halstead."
You looked up from the textbook you were currently reading and highlighting when you heard someone call your name and a smile instantly came to your face.
"Hailey! What are you doing here?" you asked as you set down your highlighter and took out your headphones which were playing LoFi very softly.
"Just grabbing some coffee before we have to actually go do work. Oh, and Jay and some other people are here, too," she said and nodded her head to the counter where Jay was currently ordering with Kevin and Adam behind him. "The one behind Jay is Kevin and the one behind him is Adam."
"Now I can finally put faces to names when you two make jokes about them," you said.
"Yeah. Oh! I forgot to ask you, what are you doing for your birthday this year?"
You huffed. "Nothing. Mom and Dad are out of town...again. And, since my birthday's on Halloween, Celine's going to a Halloween party. She asked me if I wanted to come, but I'm not a big fan of parties. I'll probably just order pizza and watch Hocus Pocus and all the Halloweentown movies."
"Aw, I'm sorry, honey. But, at least Hocus Pocus 2 is coming out."
"Yeah." You shrugged.
"But, hey, I gotta run before I get in trouble for taking too long. I'll see you soon."
"See you, Hailey. Stay safe."
"Always do."
***
"Intelligence doesn't typically work Halloween, right?" Hailey asked as the two were sitting in Jay's truck doing a stakeout on a suspect's house."
"Nope," Jay answered. "They need us open in case a bunch of crimes happen and we all need to work separate ones. Halloween brings out the weirdos, so we're all on patrol unless we somehow have an active case, but that hasn't happened since I've been here. Haven't even been called in to work Halloween in the three years I've been in this unit."
"So, there's a pretty good chance we won't have to work Halloween?"
"I'd say so. Why?"
"Well, it's Y/N's 17th birthday is on Halloween and her parents are gonna be out of town--"
"Surprise, surprise. Some people don't deserve to be parents and they are those people."
"Agreed, but she's almost eighteen and it's her junior year, so in two years, she'll be off at college and she won't have to deal with them anymore."
"I guess. But it still sucks."
"I know. But, I was thinking, maybe we could throw her a surprise party? Her birthday's on a Saturday and we could have all of Intelligence--minus Voight--there and Kevin could bring Vanessa and Jordan and you could even invite Will? We could just hang out and watch Halloween movies and then I'd make her a cake. I just- I want her to feel special. I know how it is to not have good memories on my birthday and I want her to have a good one."
"So what are you gonna dress up as?"
"It's a yes? You're in?"
"I am 100% in, Hailey."
***
You didn't know why Hailey wanted you to come over for dinner, much less why she told you about it a few days ago and told you to wear a costume. After all, it was a Saturday, not a Wednesday. But, it was your birthday and you figured she felt bad for you because you had mentioned that your parents were gonna be on a business trip on your birthday when she saw her in a coffee shop that one day.
You had decided to be Winifred from Hocus Pocus. So you found a green dress, bought a red wig and a witch hat, and brought a broom with you. It wasn't that great of a costume, but it was something, and it got the character across.
When you got to Hailey and Jay's apartment, you knocked on the door, and then Hailey opened it. She was dressed as Sarah, another witch from Hocus Pocus.
"Hello, sister," she said. Because, in the movie, Winifred and Sarah were sisters.
And then she ushered you inside.
You didn't even have time to look around at everything before people were jumping out from behind the kitchen counter and from behind the living room couch.
"Surprise!"
You covered your mouth with your hands. There was Jay, who you assumed was dressed as Max, also from Hocus Pocus, two of the guys from their work who you knew as Adam and Kevin, both in their police blues, next to Kevin was a girl in a witch costume (who you later learned was Vanessa), a boy in a Spiderman costume (who you later learned was Jordan), a woman with Fairy wings and a tiara on and a wand in her hand (who you later learned was Kim), and a man with a doctor's coat on (who you later learned was Jay's older brother, Will).
"This is all for me?" you asked as you took in more of your surroundings and tears stung your eyes.
There was a homemade banner that read Happy 17th, Y/N! hanging from the ceiling, boxes of pizza and Halloween-inspired treats, and a birthday cake on the counter, and a few brightly wrapped presents on the kitchen table.
"Yes, this is all for you!" Hailey told you. "Oh, before I forget--"
"I'll get it," Jay volunteered.
He ran to their bedroom and came out with a flower crown made out of fake autumn leaves and then passed it to Hailey.
"The birthday girl should always have a crown."
The minute she placed it on your head, you pulled her into a bone-crushing hug. "Thank you so much. This is the best birthday ever."
"You are so very welcome."
Then you gave a hug to Jay, too.
"I say we eat and sing happy birthday and let Y/N open her presents and then we watch Hocus Pocus? How does that sound, birthday girl?" Hailey asked.
"That sounds perfect."
You had heard of the found family trope in books and tv shows, but you never thought it would be a real thing. But, you had one. Your found family was Hailey and Jay and in time that title would spread to all of the Intelligence Unit plus Will.
A/N: I had this idea and I just ran with it. I hope you liked it and thank you for readng! Please remember to vote and comment! As always, if you want to be added to my taglist, just let me know and I’ll add you!

Right Where You Left Me
Part Five: Wildest Dreams
Tumblr media
No Warnings
“You coming to Gracies party tonight?” I hear the familiar voice from behind as he places his hand on the small of my back.
“Nope.”
“Come on, live a little.” Paul teases.
Rolling my eyes, I tell him, “I have to watch my sister.”
“Bring her.”
“Shes thirteen.” I remind him, even if she was older I wouldn’t bring her. Gracies parties were always full of booze and drugs and I am not going to be the one to enable my sister in teen drinking.
“Right.” Paul nodded, before asking “How long are your parents going to be out for, maybe you can come later?”
“They’re in Seattle for the weekend.” I shut my locker, turning to face him, “Can we talk about something else?”
“Yeah, lets talk about how good you look in these jeans,” Pulling me against him by the belt loops
“We’re at school.” I whisper harshly, gripping his wrists to stop them from traveling anywhere else. Though we were currently the only ones in the hall, the bell was due to ring any moment and the halls would be flooded with students. I’d rather not be known as one of Pauls conquests.
“So? I know a place.” he mumbled, pressing soft kisses along my neck.
“Of course you do.” Removing myself from him as the bell rang, “See ya tomorrow.”
“Tonight?”
“I told you--”
“My window, I won’t be late. I promise.” The boyish grin he wore so well appearing on his face as he cut me off.
“See you tonight,” I say, shaking my head laughing as I continue to my next class.
Spending the night with Delta was, in my opinion, better than any party Gracie has ever had. We may be four years apart but she is wise beyond her years, and the funniest person I know. We baked cupcakes for our mom, although I know my dad and I would be eating most of them to make it look like she could stomach them, but I don’t mind. My sister loves baking, so I supervise and let her be a kid. She deserves it.
My phone dings, signalling a text message and I see its from Tessa.
I open her text, reading quickly, “Paul and Rachel are all over eachother tonight. Get tested, babes.”
I can’t say I’m  surprised, only a little disappointed. They saying you can’t teach an old dog new tricks plagues my mind.
Silencing my phone, I clean up the rest of our mess before heading to bed myself.
It’s not long before I hear him knocking on my window, but I ignore it, hoping he thinks I’ve fallen asleep. The knocks get louder and I can’t have him waking up Delta over this nonsense.
I hurry to the window and open the curtains, then the window. Crossing my arms over my chest, “What?”
“I sent you a text.” Is the first thing Paul tells me. His shirt is off and showing off the muscles he’s gained from soccer. His tan, smooth skin looks warm and inviting but I know he just had Rachel under him, and I’m not gonna be his sloppy seconds of the night. Even if he’s wearing those damn grey sweatpants that make me swoon.
“I know.” I admit, I read it. Then swiftly deleted it.
“Coming?” Gesturing to his room, with a smile.
“Nah.”
“Seriously?” Paul asked, shocked written all over his face.
“Seriously.” I mock him, “What? I just figured you’ve gotten your fill with Rachel.”
“We kissed once. Well, more than once.” His excuse was terrible, but we’re not together so I can’t be mad. I know that. “But I didn’t fuck her, so it’s no big deal.”
“You should’ve because you’re not fucking me again.” But maybe I can hold a grudge.
“Baby..” Paul says, and I know theres not point arguing with him about this. Only a drunk Paul would call me baby.
“And you’re drunk and wont remember this in the morning, goodnight.”
“I am drunk” he confirmed with a lopsided grin, “But all I’m saying is that if you were at the party it would have been you, and not Rachel.”
I open and close my mouth, speechless. It was if the wind had been knocked out of me.
Oh, I’m sorry I had to take care of my little sister while our moms away in Seattle getting treatment for a cancer that is going to kill her sooner, rather than later, I wanted to say.
But I didn’t. I couldn’t bring myself to.
“Go to bed, Paul.,” I quietly say, moving to shut my window.
“Wait, wait, I didn’t.. Fuck…” Reaching over and holding the bottom of my window to keep me from shutting it. I wanted to laugh, or maybe cry.
I think a lot about what my life would  be like if my mom hadn’t gotten sick. Would I have been at Gracies party with Paul? Would I even have taken him up on his original offer and gotten in to his truck that very first day?
My dads not particularly fond of him or his father, not that I have any idea why. They seem like every other family in La Push.
“I’ll see you Tuesday, at our tutoring session.” I move his hand and slam my window shut, closing the curtains quickly.
I turn to shut off the lamp by my window and see a flash of red out of the corner of my eye, gasping I turn in the direction it was in. The room suddenly feels frosty and the eerie feeling of the darkened forest becomes me. I don’t see anything, I furrow my brows.
I take a step forward, and the another, the air around me gives me goosebumps.
I notice the book I had left on my bed was now on the side table. I didn’t put it there.
The feeling of a hand gripping my shoulder painfully, it felt like stone as it turns me to face them and I can’t help but gasp at the wicked grin I see before me.
I open my mouth to scream for help but nothing comes out as it lurches towards me and I--
I sit up covered in sweat as I gasp for air, shaking as I look around my room in the dark for whatever the hell I had just dreamt about.
No red hair.
No pale skin.
No wicked grin.
I’ve never felt such relief in knowing I was all alone. I kick my covers off of me and rush to turn on every single light in my room, making sure there was nothing lurking in the shadows.
The red numbers of my alarm clock read, 4:28 in the morning. Not bad. Only three more hours until I need to get ready for school.
I can’t sit still, the antsy energy stemming from the anxiety of my nightmare has me pacing my room, looking over my shoulder just in case.
Jumping as a flick of light catches my eye, but it’s just from Paul’s room next door. I can’t tell if he’s just gotten home, or if hes waking up for whatever Sam’s got for him today. It’s been two weeks since I watched him run into the woods. He’d kept his word, leaving me alone.
My feet drift me towards the window, I want to feel what I felt in his arms in the woods. The sense of security was one I had never felt before in my life.
But I can’t bring myself to open the curtains, let alone the window.
---
The day dragged on longer than any boring movie Delta had made me sit through and all I could think about was my nightmare. I spent the entire day looking over my shoulder as if whatever it was would snatch me before I could scream.
The last bell rang and I practically ran to my locker, tugging the lock off of it and ripping the door open.
A book, that I did not leave there sat with a note attached to it. The anxiety of this morning creeping back into my mind.
Picking up the note, I held my breath as I read,
I know how much you love history, enjoy it.
Tu lobo
“Your wolf? Who's that from?”
“Not sure.” I say quickly, stuffing the note in my bag. I turn to see Jacob grinning at me.
“You coming over afterschool today?” He asks, leaning against the locker beside mine.
“Can’t.” Shutting the door to my locker, “It’s Friday.”
“Right, sorry. I forgot you spend Fridays with your sister.” Jacob says gingerly and I’m glad he’s never pushed back on how I spend my time. He gets it, I guess.
“All good. Monday, maybe?” I suggest with a smile. The bikes were almost done and I had to admit, I was excited to see if they would actually work. I didn’t doubt Jacobs ability, but they were basically scrap metal the first time I saw them.
He nods enthusiastically, “ Yeah, maybe we can take my dads old bike for a spin if the weathers nice.”
“I don’t think three people would fit on one bike.” I tease him. I had gotten use to being the third wheel to Bella Swan. I didn’t mind it. It was a non-committal situation.
“I was thinking, just you and me.” Jacob avoided  my gaze, rubbing his arm nervously. I wasn’t sure if this was a pity thing, or a Jacob thing. Nonetheless I agreed.
“See you Monday, Jake.” I said, giving him a side hug before heading off to the freshman wing to find Delta.
I find Leah Clearwater outside before I find my sister and stop to give her a giant hug,
“I haven’t seen you in weeks, where the hell have you been?”
She laughs and returns the hug, “Says you. Jacob Black, huh? Guess it’s better than Paul.”
Letting her go, I shake my head, my hair flying around dramatically, “No, no, no. We are just friends. Thats it.”
“Mhmm. Said that about Sam’s lackey as well. Then you called me crying.”
“Speaking of Sam,” I change the subject, “ I was at his house--”
“What?!”
“Let me finish.” I whine. “Paul asked me to hangout and I thought I’d give him a second chance and thats where he brought me. I don’t know what you ever saw in Sam, he gave me the creeps.”
“First of all, why would you agree to hang out with him knowing he’s in a gang?” I cringe at her question, but she continues, softly saying, “Sam wasn’t always like that.
I give her an empathetic smile, now more than ever do I understand the complexity of what happened between Leah and Sam.
“Can I go to Seths tonight? It’s Friday.”  I hear from behind me, turning I see a smiley Delta, though Seth wasn’t with her.
“Did you and Sue have plans to bake something? I feel like you’re trying to make me fat with all these baked goods you keep bringing home” I joke and she giggles. My smile brightens at the sound.
“No, Seth wants to show me this new video game he got.”
“Oh. Seth, huh?” I tease and I can hear Leah hold in her snicker. We’ve talked so much about how they were going to end up together at some point, and it looks like that point is now.
“Paul, huh?” she mimics and my eyes widen as I turn to look at Leah who let out a genuine laugh.
“Seth overheard you and Leah gossiping one night. Is he really in a gang with Sam Uley?” She asks quietly, but I don’t answer her question, only giving her one of my own.
“How much homework do you have?”
“He hecho mi tarea.” Delta says in Spanish.
I raise my eyebrow at her, Spanish was not a class I had ever enjoyed and as soon as I could drop it, I did. Delta clarifies that she has already done her homework just as Seth approaches our little group. I agree to let her go, telling her if she’s staying the night she needs to let me know before ten o’clock.
“You two go, I’ll catch up.” Leah tells the two younger teens head towards the carpark.
“Now my sister thinks I’m into a gang member.” I say grimly, that’s the last thing I want her to worry about.
“You kinda are.”
“Leah.” I whine, shoving her playful away from me.
“Its the truth!” She laughs.
“I’m just worried about him. He said he would never join Sam.”
“I think you’re the only person who didn’t see this coming, the fact that you even let him in between your legs was shocking to me. The kids got a temper and its even worse now.” she reprimands like a mother. I never saw that side of him though, but we never hung out outside of study room or his bedroom, there was really no reason for him to get angry.
“Pauls temper isn’t that bad.” I try and defend.
“He beat the shit out of his bestfriend.” Grimacing at the reminder that he only did that because Shiloh was saying things about me.
“Well I’ve told him to leave me alone, I just have to return something to him.” The book that had been left in my locker belonged to him, I know it did. Who else would give me a book on wolves?
“Return something, uh huh.” Leah says with a cheeky grin.
“I do, he gave me this book about wolves. I dont want it.” I explain, but she clearly doesn’t believe me.
“I dont care if the sex is mindblowingly good, Kia, don’t let him in again. You’re smarter than that.” Shes not joking this time and I nod in agreeance, if one of my bestfriends is telling me to stay away, I’m going to listen.
Right after I return the book.

Slàinte Motherfuckers! Tatum/oc!reader x Duff Mckagan, Izzy stradlin
Tumblr media
Warnings: cussing, alcohol mentioned, drinking, just college kids being college dumbasses, angry Izzy, male receiving head. Punishment mentioned
Izzy and Duff were stressing over a mid term exam instead of going out. They didn’t have a gig and I wanted to have fun. Even if that meant drinking in lounge shorts and Duff’s misfits tee.
“We’re fucked!”, Duff sighed. “You’re fucked, my friend. I’ve been studying all month unlike you, going to parties with Tay”, Izzy smirked. “Think I could be a stripper?”, Duff asked. “You don’t got the ass for it and you would make your mother have a stroke”, I waltzed in. “Tatum, no! We have an important school shit tomorrow”, Izzy said seeing the bottle of tequila.
“I’m just coming to sit in my living room, Izzykins”, I rolled my eyes. “Fine, just be quiet”, Izzy sighed. I started playing angry birds, next to Duff. I was on a roll until my drunk ass slipped my finger off the screen. “GODDAMN IT!”, I groaned. “That’s it, I’m leaving!”, Izzy slammed his text book down and stormed out of the apartment. “Damn, he needs to get laid”, I rolled my eyes. “He’s stressed about this mid term, Tat. It determines if he gets into med school”, Duff patted my thigh. I nodded, “Sorry I’m just bored. I asked Katie to hang out but she’s working a double, Dessy is out of town. You guys are it”, I sighed, feeling guilty about Izzy’s storm out.
“Don’t feel bad, he’ll get over it. I’m gonna go shower if you need me”, Duff groaned getting up. “Old ass” I laughed. “Shut up” Duff had been in the shower for a good ten minutes, I was left unsupervised. I went into the kitchen.. made a shot for myself. Then it hit me, Sam served these shots that were on fire! I can try that here and see if I could make those. “Shit there’s only 6 shot glasses. Oh well!”, I picked the tray up. “Hey D! Check this out”, I walked into the living room, Izzy walked in. “What Tay?”, I heard duff patter through the hall.
I lit the the shots on fire before the pair could figure out I had done. “ Slàinte Motherfuckers!”, I grinned before realizing the tray was hot. Then it happened I dropped the tray and the curtains caught on fire as Duff stood behind me. Duff grabbed a bucket of water, tossing it on the growing flames. “Fuck! Those were the nice curtains too”, I groaned. Then Izzy started laughing like a manic, almost like Heath Ledger’s joker. Duff and I looked at each other, “What the fuck?” I whispered. “Tatum! Tatum what the actual fuck went through that head of yours .. Thinking that was a good fucking idea? Mhm!?”, Izzy turned to me. “Iz, it was an accident”, Duff walked towards me, slotting me behind him. “I can handle myself, Duff” “shh!” Then he slide down the wall, holding his face in his hands. “I’m so not getting into med school! Jesus H Christ, I’m so fucked”, Izzy laughed again.
“I’m gonna go smoke”, I sighed, passing Duff. “Holy crap on a cracker”, I lit my cigarette. 30 minutes had passed, no yelling and fighting had happened. Amused it was fine inside, fire escape hid that idea. The window opened, it was Izzy. “Hey care for company?” “After your psychological breakdown? Not really”, I snorted. “Sorry for freaking out” “Ah use to it. My mom’s a bipolar junkie”, I breathed out the nicotine. “You shouldn’t smoke, Tatum. Girl like you is way too pretty to do this nasty shit”, Izzy took the rest of my cigarette away. “So? We’re gonna die anyways”, I smirked. “Don’t speed it up, Bunny”, Izzy gave me a look. “Duff awake?” I asked. Izzy shrugged. “Fuck it! You trust me?”, I asked. “Yeah? What ya planning?” I bit my lip, getting on my knees.
“Just a little stress relief, Iz. Seems you needed it a lot sooner”, I reached for his belt. “Well, since you’re already on your knees”, Izzy smirked. Even getting head he was in control. I pulled his boxers down enough to grab the rest of him out. Adjusting my weight, I took Izzy in my mouth. “Fucckk”, Izzy groaned. I took more of him, what I could. He was the biggest I had ever been with. I stroked what I couldn’t fit in my mouth, “Jesus, Tatum!” “Quiet down! I really don’t want to hear Duff lecture me tonight”, I popped off. Izzy smirked, “Didn’t tell you to quit, Princess” suddenly he was back in my mouth and half away down my throat. “Good girl”
Izzy was humming, while making his coffee as Duff walked in. “Back to normal, Dr. Hyde?” “Morning, Duff. Yes, I’m actually ready for McKenzie’s bullshit test”, Izzy grinned. “Morning class”, I walked in, grabbing my Slytherin cup down. “Oh morning Tatum. Sleep good?”, Duff asked, completely clueless to my slight limp. “Like a baby”, I smirked, catching Izzy’s eyes. Izzy had a shit eating grin on his face as Duff walked out. “Think I should punish you for lying to your best friend. Not nice, Princess”, Izzy trapped me between the counter and his chest. “Not my fault his clueless” “Watch it, Tatum”, Izzy popped my ass. “Stop! I can barley sit right as it is”, I whined.

so i had a scary moment today
i was dropping off my friend at her place (J) and our other friend (R) was in the car and we were having a serious talk
and these two guys (who i figured were drunk cause they act my dad and my tio when theyre drunk) are like hugging and looking at my car
and im watching them cause we were in the alley behind J's place where all the garages are
and one guy comes really close to the front of my car then goes around to the back (behind the passenger) and tries opening the door
and then hes at the passenger window and im giving him that like what the fuck are you doing look and J heard him say something about thinking i was his uber and they walked away in the direction of the street
then J's mom called so we went to the front where her front door is to drop her off at the door (she said she could just walk there and i was like no absolutely not with those two guys around)
and R had to use the bathroom so she went inside with J and i locked the doors when they got out just in case
and the two guys come walking up and stand in between the two cars next to me on the curb (my cars in the street with my hazard lights on) and theyre looking at me
and then the same guy tries opening the door AGAIN and his friend (whos holding a dog) is giving me that like nod to question if im who theyre looking for and im shaking my head and they go in the direction behind my car
and i immediately opened the group chat between me J and R and tell them they tried again and told J to get her mom and that im scared and R texted saying shes gonna hurry
so J and her mom come outside and stand on their stairs to the sidewalk with their arms crossed very obviously watching them and i start crying and trying to see where they are cause now i cant see them and im scared
and J sees and gets in the passenger seat to comfort me then R comes back out and gets in the back and J's mom asks if im ok and im like no and then when J goes back inside i was like thank you for coming outside and her moms like ofcofc
and then i went to take R home and J texted me telling me to text her when i get home and shes gonna give me a big hug tomorrow at school and that her mom said she loves me and JNfianidnaidns
anyways now im scared im gonna see those two again and if i do i will absolutely break down
Oh my god that’s so scary!!! I’m so sorry that happened to you. People are so fucking rude and stupid! I’m glad your friends had your back and I’m glad you’re ok! It’s ok to be scared as well. That was a scary experience and it can leave emotional scars on a person. Remember to take care of yourself and talk about it with someone if you need too!

1. We saw original Maria in our neighborhood the other day and we were like what the heck! So I texted her and she replied back a day later saying she has a job in the neighborhood. Feels kind of strange but I truly hope that’s true!
2. All the options for Nayas birthday are dwindling lol. Playpie isn’t open until 2. Glenoaks Rec room isn’t free thst day. I cannot for the life of me figure out what rec rooms are available at parks in Los Angeles. So I think tomorrow we’re gonna check out a place hatty suggested. I tried to put together a guest list and it was like 30 adults and 25 kids. Sheesh
3. I’m really enjoying writing lately. It’s obviously terrible and hard still but I think I’m just luxuriating it in a little bit more. Because I’m near the end (but also so far from it). I’m nearing the end of this draft is how I’ll put it. Crazy.
4. I’ve told so many coworkers abt the fact that I’m trying to write so they check in to ask abt it now and again. Same thing w Jason’s mom she always calls me 자가님. But today I was like man… this really has to be somewhat decent otherwise all these people I know and work with are going to read it and they may come away from it being like what the eff did I waste my time for. Lol. Like it’s embarrassing if it’s not up to at least a certain standard. Doesn’t have to be groundbreaking but it can’t be cringe, which it very well could be.

HOMEGIRL!!!! I love your fics and blurbs and everything!!!!!! Okay, so I have something for you. Jack and Fem!Reader has been best friends throughout their entire childhood and maybe they're seniors in high school now. Anyway, Reader has gotten close to Hotch due to her relationship with Jack and has seen him as a father figure due to her own dad being out of the picture. And then, boom she gets kidnapped and Hotch has his team on it. Sorry, this is all over the place. :) love u!!!!
Before it's too late
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x Fem!Reader x Jack Hotchner
Word count: 2.2k
A/N: AHHHH!!!! EM! Thank you!!! I love you so much!! This was an emotional rollercoaster to write, not gonna lie.
Here’s a reminder that my Requests are open and that I also have a prompt list you can choose from.
Warnings: Angst. Kidnapping. Implied rape.
Tumblr media
“Ugh, this calculus test is driving me nuts! I just don’t understand how we’re supposed to study for it.” You groaned, walking out of the doors to freedom. The chilly autumn air filled your lungs and left foggy clouds stranded mid-air as you exhaled.
“I’m sure you’ll ace it, you always do. Don’t be so hard on yourself.” Jack put an arm around your shoulder, as you walked out of the school grounds together, bumping his head playfully into yours with a giggle on his lips.
You’d spent a great deal of time with Jack growing up, having first met in class right after you’d moved to town with your mother. Your teacher, Mrs. Cooper, had asked Jack to show you around, hoping that it would help erase the painful memories of his mother.
Instantly, you’d clicked. Spending more and more time together every day, opting to do every single school project together, having endless amounts of playdates, and even trying to hook up your parents, which did not work. You felt like you’d spent most of your childhood in the Hotchner home, it was always fun and exciting to be there, especially when Mr. Hotchner wasn’t working.
Aaron always had suspenseful stories to share with the two of you, getting crazier and crazier as you grew up and could handle more of the awfulness that he experienced on his cases. Spending as much time with the Hotchner boys as you did, Aaron started feeling more like a father figure to you, than the parent of your best friend. And vice versa with Jack and your mom. The lack of a core member of each of your families only strengthened your bond, as you felt like your shared experiences were only understood by the two of you.
“Dad’s away on a case this weekend, do you want to come over tomorrow? We can order pizza and play video games?” Jack asked as you stopped outside of the gate into your apartment complex.
“I need to study, Jack.” You pointed out, still feeling anxious for the upcoming test.
“(Y/N), please! You’ve been studying all week, we’ve barely seen each other. I miss my best friend.” Jack pleaded, his sad puppy dog eyes coming into full display. He knew you couldn’t resist them. They’d gotten you into a lot of trouble throughout your friendship, but nothing bad enough to scare you away from the brown-haired menace.
“Fine, but I’m not staying over.” You gave in, saying your goodbyes as you went inside and Jack walked two blocks further to his place.
Those were the last words spoken between the two of you. You didn’t show up the following day as you’d promised. You always kept your promises and would surely have called or texted if you couldn’t make it. That was what worried Jack when he called Aaron. He’d made sure to check if you were home first, but your mother hadn’t seen you since you’d supposedly left for Jack’s.
Your phone was off, sending him straight to voicemail whenever he tried to get in contact with you.
“Dad, I think there’s something wrong with (Y/N). She’s nowhere to be found, please, help.” Jack was frantic as he told Aaron about the situation. He’d never heard him this distraught since Haley and knew that this wasn’t just a case of you being out of town and forgetting to tell him. This was bad.
“Jack!” Aaron snapped softly, trying to get his boy back to reality once again. “If you don’t hear from her tomorrow, we’ll be on our way. Okay?” He bargained, trying to calm his son down. After all, Aaron still had his job to tend to, even though he wanted to fly back to Quantico as soon as possible. He was worried too. You weren’t just the type to disappear without a trace.
He had Garcia try to hack and trace your phone, the last known location being in your neighborhood in the morning, close to the time your mother had last seen you.
When Sunday came and you still hadn’t peeped about your whereabouts, Aaron had his whole team back in Quantico asap, leaving the local police his card to call him if they needed their help on the case they’d just discarded. Although it was an unprofessional move of him, you were more important to Jack and himself to just let you wait.
It took mere minutes for the BAU to compose a plan once back in Quantico, having Garcia check surveillance, as Morgan and Prentiss went to your neighborhood knocking on doors. Meanwhile, Spencer and JJ started searching for active unsubs in the area.
Aaron made sure to rush home to his son, needing to know everything that had happened leading up to your disappearance. But all Jack could tell was “I don’t know”, his tone getting harsher and harsher as he finally had an outlet to voice his frustrations.
When Hotch’s phone rang, it was Garcia.
“Sir, I think I have something.” She mentioned before Hotch gave his permission to add everyone else to the call, which Garcia did with an instant click of a button. “Poor sweet (Y/N) was grabbed off the street and pulled into a black van. Her captures wearing masks so facial recognition is a no-go. However, I was able to get a good read of the license plate after finding a better video angle. Foxtrot, Delta, Uniform, Seven, Zero, Two, Eight. I’ve sent the plate out to all law enforcement in the area, in hopes of that being the right thing to do.” Garcia informed as she mass texted their tablets with the surveillance pictures and the license plate.
“Thanks, Garcia.” Hotch dismissed
“Anything for you, big shot.”
“Professionalism, Garcia.” Hotch sternly reprimanded, not having the energy to push it off in the current situation.
Spencer immediately started looking closer at the surveillance after Garcia had had her turn, hoping to be able to pinpoint exactly where the vehicle was headed.
The Hotchner boys couldn’t physically be within the frames of their own bodies and sit idle, so Aaron grabbed his coat and holstered his gun, as he told Jack to get ready. Walking around the neighborhood, they alternately took turns calling your name. The power in their voices slowly descended as darkness started to fall over the city, only being illuminated by the lamps evenly positioned around the neighborhoods and streets of Quantico.
“Hotchner,” Aaron answered as his phone started buzzing in his phone. “I’m on my way.” He announced as he started turning back towards their apartment to get his car.
“Was it (Y/N)?” Jack impatiently asked as he felt the nervous jitters in his body.
“Jack go home!” Hotch sternly said, his focus narrowed on the SUV at the end of the street. If Jack hadn’t been with him, he’d have started running towards it. But he didn’t need him to worry more than he already did. “I’ll call when I know something, okay?” Hotch said before speeding off towards the location he’d been pinged off about. Jack couldn’t help but think that there was something terribly wrong, that you were hurt, potentially even dead. He didn’t like those thoughts, but couldn’t seem to shake them again. The memories of his mother’s passing rushed through his brain and engulfed him in darkness.
***
You heard the commotion outside the place you were being held in, the loud sirens filling your ears as the last hope slowly started to drain from your mind. You felt defeated. Your beaten-up body couldn’t take any more of the torture, all because he wanted to know something that you didn’t even know about yourself. The whereabouts of your father. You hadn’t seen the man since you were four and had no memories of him, other than the time he took you to the park, but that was it.
A startled whimper left your lungs as the doors were kicked in and armed officers rushed through it. Your pupils retracted as a sharp light, probably from a flashlight you thought, blinded you in the process. Once used to the brightness, you noticed the gun pointed at you by the uniformed officer. Your chest was heaving with fright.
“Get away from her!” You heard an all too familiar voice yell somewhere behind them. The tears started flowing from your eyes as you realized who it was. When Aaron got closer to you, the sight he was met with was unbearable. Shivering, severely underdressed, he noticed the cuts and bruises covering your naked thighs and arms. Clearly from forcefully being held down.
He crouched down in front of you, quickly releasing you from the binds that held you in a sitting position on the ground. You fell into his arms, sobbing as the devastating truth of what had happened to you finally caught up with you. Even though you’d been missing for less than 75 hours, so much could happen in that span.
“Mr. Hotchner, what happened?” You sobbed, trying to wrap your head around everything. You were confused. Everything had happened so quickly.
“Sweetheart?” He softly murmured as he wrapped you in his jacket, trying to get some heat into your already light blueish tone. “Can we talk about this later? You need to be seen by a medic.” He lifted you up into his arms like you weighed nothing and helped you outside where an ambulance was waiting for you. “Oh, and please call me Aaron, I think we’re way past the formalities.” He joked, hoping to keep some light in you as you had to come to terms with your situation once you’d regained full emotional capacity again.
The paramedics quickly got you strapped in on the stretcher and wheeled inside of the ambulance.
“Please don’t leave me alone, Aaron.” You begged, staring at him. He swore he’d seen those puppy dog eyes before, as you’d probably learned that un-resistible trick from his own flesh and blood.
“I never would, sweetheart.” He spoke softly to you, deeming that Jack could wait until the situation was fully under control. He hoisted himself into the back of the ambulance, holding your hand in comfort for the route to the hospital.
***
The doctors at the hospital kept on treating you for endless amounts of hours, nursing you back to health before they even let Aaron enter the room. He’d called Jack, telling him that you were okay, but there’d go sometime before you were ready to see him. He felt bad for rejecting the two of you to see each other, knowing that your relationship was like brother and sister.
A careful knock landed on the door into your room, before Aaron’s head popped into view. The emotionless expression on your face instantly told him everything he needed to know. You were still confused but felt the numbness in your whole body.
Aaron dragged a chair to your bedside, taking your hand in his, and gave it a loving squeeze, hard enough to catch your attention. A single tear fell from your eye as you looked at him. They’d told you what had happened, that they needed to do a pregnancy test on you, just to make sure. Thankfully it was negative, but the lingering feeling of disgust was still rooted deep within you.
“Why me.” You whimpered. Aaron cupped your face with his free hand, using his thumb to wipe the tear away.
“I can’t really answer that confidently, (Y/N). But I had a look into your father while you were out. He was not a good man, criminal at best. He ripped off a lot of people, bad people. And even though you don’t know him, you’re the easiest person they could find connected to him.” Aaron explained, seeing the changing expression in your eyes, as you were shocked to learn these things. You sighed.
“I spoke to your mom, she’s sorry that she can’t come. She couldn’t get out of the business trip. But I’ve promised that Jack and I will take care of you.” Aaron softly smiled at you, seeing the disappointment. As much as you loved your mom, she was never really there for you, it seemed to you that her job meant more than her own child. You couldn’t blame her, not after learning that you’d been an accident, that she never meant to have kids.
Aaron on the other hand, he seemed like the perfect parent, growing up you sometimes despised Jack for having such a caring and attentive father, even though he was gone a lot of the time. He always made time to come to school events or spent time with his son whenever he was home. Not like your mother, it was always just work with her.
He sat with you for as long as you needed. You were interrupted by the familiarity of the young Hotchner’s voice popping into the room. “(Y/N)!” He said, shocked by your appearance. “You look awful.”
“Jack!” Hotch reprimanded, thinking that it was too early in your recovery for your usual friendly banter to start.
“Thanks a lot, so do you, cry baby.” You smiled, seeing his puffy red eyes. You both fell into a fit of laughter, knowing that when the two of you just had each other, nothing could stop you, even if the world decided to hurt you.

Cyan Macaron
Luka Couffaine x Reader | ONE SHOT 🌷
Tumblr media
"(Y/n), are you alright?" You snap back to reality when your mom spoke to you. "Yes mom, I'm okay." You were fantasizing about scenarios on how you'll meet your soulmate someday. You can't help it, almost all of your friends met their soulmates, and you? No luck. "Can you please fetch the macarons I ordered from Sabine after school?" Your mom asked. "Okay, mom, I'll get going." You picked up your things and headed out. "Take care!" Your mom yelled.
You were currently crossing the street, you're pretty early today. No running happening like some of school days. You texted Marinette that you'll drop by at their house for the both of you to walk together to school but she's not replying. 'She must be still sleeping' you started running to buy you some time before school starts because you know for sure you'll be late if you kept walking; knowing Marinette, she'll just get ready once you wake her up.
"Marinette! (Y/n) is here!" Ms. Sabine spoke up while you were waiting for her downstairs. After a few minutes, Marinette came down. "Let's go." "You're still in your pajamas." You giggled. "Oh- I'm sorry! Wait a minute!" She hurried upstairs and came down again after a few more minutes.
"So, have you met your soulmate yet?" You asked her. "No! I haven't yet." She lied. "Aww, I wanna know who's the perfect person for Ms. Clumsy-feet." You joked and the both of you chuckled. Little did you know, Marinette already met her soulmate but she's keeping their relationship from the public for safety. "I hope you'll meet your soulmate soon too." She responded to you and you just smiled at her. "I wonder what your eye color is, Mari." "You're going to find out next time. So, go get your significant other!" She patted your back.
"Hey, guys!" Alya waved her hands. "Hi, Alya." you and Marinette chimed. "I thought the both of you are gonna be late again today." Alya spoke, you noticed Marinette waved at Adrien and he smiled at her. "Hey, still can't get over your crush, huh?" You nudged her and she just rubbed the back of her neck. "I'll see you guys after school." You went to your classroom, Ms. Mendeleiev's class. Just like an another day at school, you did seat works and listened to lectures.
After the last lesson, you stretched your arms and rested your head on your desk. Someone spoke and touched your arm, you quickly looked at the person hoping for something. "Oh, it was just you, Jean. Can I help you?" "Yeah, about Ms. Mendeleiev's lecture earlier, did you write notes?" You handed your notes to him immediately. "Give it to me tomorrow, okay?"
"(Y/n)! Let's go." You spotted Mari and Alya at the doorway. You waved Jean good bye and joined your friends. "Let's go to Juleka's today." Mari invited you. "Why?" "Kitty Section is going to rehearse." "Kitty Section? The one who performed on TV?" you asked. "Yeah!" "You should come and see them, you still haven't seen them up close, right?" You nodded and then you remembered that you have to pick up your mother's macarons from Marinette's bakery. "You guys go ahead." "Hello, you don't know where they live." Alya spoke with her arms akimbo. "Liberty, right?" you checked. "Yeah." "Catch ya later!" You flee the scene and ran towards Marinette's. "(Y/n)!" Alya shouted but you were already far away. They shook their heads and chuckled.
There was quite the line at the bakery even though it's already afternoon. You waited until your turn, "Hi, Ms. Sabine, my mother's macarons, please." She handed you your mother's order and paid her. When you turned around you caught a glance of the person behind you, your eyes widened when you saw his eye color. His eyes has a luminous vivid cyan color. After seeing him you were astonished, you shifted your gaze and you could also see the other customers' eye color 'Wow.' He also looked at you and you could also see he was surprised. You came back to your senses and you were about to leave when he grabbed your arm. "Wait." He motioned at Sabine signaling her that he'll be back soon, Sabine caught on what was going on and smiled at the two of you.
The both of you went outside, he was about to say something but you spoke. "Wow, your eyes... They look like this cyan macaron." You held up a macaron compared them which made him chuckle. "I-I'm sorry, I was just so surprised." You apologized, embarrassed from what you said. "It's okay, you're quite adorable." You could feel your face heating up and you were flustered by his sudden compliment. "I'm Luka, and you?" "I-I'm (Y-Y/n)." You're quite nervous. "Nice to meet you, (Y-Y/n)." The both of you chuckled, you then remembered what you're going to do. "Oh no! I have to go, I'll see you next time." You ran heading home. "Wait! I haven't asked for your number yet..." Luka's tone of voice lowering as he realized you're getting far away.
"Where were you?" Your mom asked. "Come on, mom. I was just minutes later than usual." You placed the box of macarons on the table. You approached your mother's figure and asked her permission to go to Liberty. "Mari and the others invited me to watch a rehearsal of Kitty Section. Can I go?" Your mom faced you with her poker face then crossed her arms. "No." "Mommm." You whined with a giggle, you know your mom's messing with you. "I'm just kidding, of course you can go." "Thank you." You hugged her and went on your way.
While walking, you facepalmed. 'Nice going, (Y/n).' You realized that you just ran away and left your soulmate at the bakery earlier. You didn't even get his number, maybe you'll just meet him again from luck? Bummed out, you continued walking ignoring notifications on your phone. But it still continued ringing and all, you finally checked what it was.
Marinette's been messaging you about where you are, the rehearsal already started. (I'll be there.) you texted and ran. You spotted the lights from the ship and you knew you're at your destination. You ran and entered the ship. Nino patted an available seat for you and you sat on it. The band are wearing their costume, masks and all. Must be for the show. While sitting there the for the entire song, you didn't noticed Luka the whole time but there he was staring at you.
The band finished their song and all of you clapped, you're about to approach Juleka and the others when the person in cyan attire spoke on the mic. "I dedicate this song to... the person who's my soulmate." He looked at you and you noticed those cyan eyes. "Luka?" you uttered a loud. The gang caught on what was happening and chant their own cheers and squeals to the both of you. Luka started singing and playing his acoustic. You never imagined that this is how your soulmate meeting was gonna be, well... You met at a bakery but still didn't expect a song about you.
You were smiling the entire time. "What's my eye color, (Y/n)?" Marinette asked. "Bluebell. They're beautiful." "Yours are beautiful too." she accidentally uttered. "What?!" you whisper-shouted, she laughs nervously. "I'll get back to you later." You squinted your eyes at her. "This is my moment for now." You pretended to be angry and you guys just laughed at yourselves.
Luka finished his song and approached you. He lifted his mask and looked at you, he offered his hand and you took it then stood. He kissed the back of your palm, 'I can die now.' you thought. He kissed your cheek and offered himself for you to embrace him which you gladly accepted, no questions asked. The crowd cheer at the both you.
"You're now a song in my head that I'll never forget."

old enough to understand
mark lee x reader, childhood friends to lovers, fluff
summary: now that you’re older, you seem to finally understand how mark makes you feel
a/n: came up with this at 2am while listening to my mark lee dedicated playlist and pluto projector came on and u already know that one part made me emotional also do u like my doodles i made on the photo ^^
Tumblr media
growing up, you were surrounded by the concept of love. you witnessed it with your parents, when you got your first pet, and even when you took your first bite into your favorite fruit.
when you first met mark lee at the age of 6, you didn’t think that the word love would apply to him. at least, not in the way that you knew it.
“no! it’s mine, i don’t want to give you any!” the young boy yelled.
“you can just go get more! i just want some watermelon!” you screamed back.
“go get some yourself!”
angry, you stomped away towards the table of adults. “mrs. lee, mark won’t give me a piece of his watermelon.”
the older woman laughed softly before getting up and leading you to the table of fruit. “forgive him, watermelon is his favorite. i’ll be sure to make sure he shares next time, okay?”
while you ate your own fruit alone in the grass, mark came up to you scratching his neck awkwardly, avoiding eye contact. “i’m sorry for being rude...i just really like watermelon...”
you narrowed your eyes at him before bursting into a fit of giggles, offering your own watermelon out to him. “it’s okay, mark, i like watermelon too. i understand.” he took the piece that you held out to him and took a seat next to you.
when you first met mark, you didn’t think anything of him except for that he was the dorky boy next door who seemed to reserve the concept of love for his favorite fruit.
in middle school, you and mark seemed to clash heads more often than not, and you found it hard to stick around him. desperate to seem cool in front of the new friends that he made, mark steered away from you and teased you whenever he saw you in the halls. you almost despised him in your middle school years, but no matter how much teasing he did mark always waited for you outside of the school gates and walked you home safely.
though he was still unsure of the role you had in his life, mark knew that he wanted to keep you around.
in high school, your parents fantasized about the idea of the two of you dating, but you and mark always recoiled at the thought. friend groups and social status set you and mark even further apart and before you knew it you became a messenger to girls who wanted mark to call their own. when you got your first boyfriend in sophomore year, mark tried to warn you that the guy was no good, but like always you never listened to him. when he broke your heart, you expected mark to scold you and tell you he told you so, but he provided you comfort in his arms instead.
though he didn’t love you then, mark vowed that he would never let your heart get broken again.
when it came time for you and mark to go off to college, you found yourself a lot more upset than you had initially thought you would be. you were excited to go off and find yourself elsewhere, but something about not having the silly, brown haired boy by your side 24/7 felt strange. granted, you two weren’t as close as your six year old self thought you would be, but you found that you and mark held a special type of bond that you feared you wouldn’t find anywhere else.
you still hadn’t figured out your love for mark lee, but you knew that leaving him was one of the hardest things you’ve ever had to do.
“just...promise to call often, okay?” you told him as you walked with him to his car, a box of his things in your arms.
mark’s lips curled up into a smug smile. “why? gonna miss me that much?”
you rolled your eyes. “you’re making me regret saying that. you’ll be lucky if i don’t block you after this, idiot.”
mark laughed loudly and you found yourself smiling softly at the sound. you placed the box in his truck before you both turned to each other. “i’ll text you everyday and call when i can. don’t worry, you can’t get rid of me that easily. you’ll probably be hearing about my uncontrollable gas everyday so if that’s not what you’re looking for then...”
you laughed and shoved his shoulder, mumbling for him to shut up. “it’s gonna be weird without you, i think.”
mark shrugged. “yeah, well, we’ll see each other again. just think about it like that time where you got so mad at me for blowing up your house in minecraft that you ignored me for a week!”
mark expected you to laugh but became concerned when he saw your lip quivering and your eyes threatening to spill tears. “y/n? sorry, is that, like, a sensitive memory?”
when you suddenly wrapped your arms around his torso and mumbled a soft ‘i’ll miss you’ into his chest, mark cursed at himself for being the first one to fall in love.
___
“isn’t it like 4am for you? you should go to bed,” you scolded him half heartedly. you sat at your vanity on facetime with a sleepy mark as you did your nightly skincare routine.
mark groaned through the phone and shook his head. “but i wanna talk to you,” he whined groggily. “i miss you.”
your cheeks heat up and you smiled shyly. “i miss you too, mark.”
mark blinked slowly with a tired look, his hair all messed up and his face in need of a shave. he watched you silently as you rubbed your moisturizer into your skin, smiling at the sight. “...you’re really pretty you know that?”
you froze and chuckled nervously, keeping yourself busy with your moisturizer so you didn’t have to see the way mark was looking at you. “you’re talking nonsense again.”
he grumbled, “i’m not talking any nonsense. you’re so pretty, y/n, i miss seeing your face. i hate facetime and my shit wifi.”
“you’re rambling, marky, go to bed,” you ushered him, this time grabbing your phone to look at him.
he smiled fondly at you. “i like it when you call me marky.”
“okay, i’ll call you it more if you go to bed.”
mark huffed and complied, bidding you one last goodbye. “fine. i miss you so much, y/n, call me tomorrow.”
“okay, i will.”
“promise?” mark asked softly, peeking open one eye to look at you.
“i promise, you big baby.”
“okay, goodnight. love you,” mark mumbled softly into his pillow, already half asleep.
your breath hitched in your throat at his words. you two hardly ever said that phrase to each other but you began to realize that nowadays mark seemed to say it quite often. before, you’d probably make a face in disgust at the cheesiness, but now it only made your stomach sick with butterflies.
“yeah, love you too, marky. sleep tight.”
already fast asleep, mark stayed silent. your thumb hovered over the ‘end call’ button, but you waited a few more seconds just to look at how peaceful mark looked. you could see the sky turning from a dark black to a paler blue from his window, making you frown since the boy had stayed up so late. before you could look at him any longer, you ended the call and sat back in your chair.
loving mark lee had always seemed impossible to you, but now you realized that it was the one thing that you wanted to do for the rest of your life.
___
you spent a lot of time thinking about your feelings for mark while you were away and most of it was you being in denial. you thought that maybe it was just because you weren’t used to being so far away from him, but deep down you knew otherwise. your friends had tried setting you up on blind dates, yet no one seemed to fill in the gap that you felt you had in your heart.
after you finished your first year of college, your mother began to pester you about having a boyfriend for you to bring home for the holidays. yet no matter how many guys you thought about, your mind would always bring you back to mark.
it was now christmas time and your family and mark’s family were going to have a small get together, meaning that you and mark would get to spend time with each other in person again. you weren’t sure if you should tackle mark at the sight of him, but you figured he would do the same to you anyway.
“y/n, sweetheart! my gosh, it’s been so long! you’ve grown up so well,” mark’s mother cooed as she gave you a warm hug.
you chuckled and returned her hug, replying with, “thank you, mrs. lee. it’s nice to see you again.”
she playfully nudged your shoulder. “any boyfriend yet?”
you laughed awkwardly and shook your head, looking away. “oh, um, no...not yet.”
she beamed. “mark will be happy to hear that.” she said it so fast that you almost didn’t catch it. “he’s out back waiting for you. i told him i’d tell him when you got here, but it’ll be a nice surprise for him,” she winked.
you thanked her briefly before making your way to the backyard excitedly. you thought that you’d be more nervous facing the boy you loved but, frankly, all you wanted to do was finally tell him that you loved him.
when you opened the door mark immediately turned his head, expecting to see his mom, but his facial expression completely changed when he saw you. he ran up to you with the brightest smile on his face and engulfed you into his arms. you laughed joyously into his shoulder as he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you as close to his chest as humanly possible.
“you have no idea how long i’ve been waiting to do that,” he mumbled into your hair.
you smiled against his shoulder before pulling away to look at him. the two of you held eye contact for what felt like an eternity before mark finally returned his arms back to his side.
“even though we call everyday, it feels like i’m meeting you for the first time all over again,” mark said with a light laugh.
“i hope i lived up to your expectations, then,” you joked.
mark smiled fondly at you before brushing snow out of your hair. “definitely above expectations.”
you blushed at his comment but thanked the cold weather for hiding your rosy cheeks. before you could make more small talk, mark burst out into another sentence.
“y/n, i have to get this off of my chest before i explode,” he blurted.
your eyes widened and you nodded your head. “oh, um, okay, what is it?”
he gripped at his hair and turned around, beginning to whine. “oh my god, i’m gonna sound like the biggest idiot on earth. please don’t hate me after this.”
“...what did you do, mark?”
“i didn’t do anything! well...” he faced you again with a sigh and grabbed your hands taking you by surprise. “y/n, i’m in love with you. and i know you probably just see me as that stupid annoying boy your mom forced you to be friends with but i’ve loved you for over a year and it’s driving me crazy and i-”
“mark!” you interrupted him, placing a hand over his mouth. he looked at you with wide eyes while you smiled at him, practically glowing with happiness. you removed your hand from over his mouth and he sighed again.
“just reject me so i can go cry in my room.” mark shut his eyes and prepared himself for rejection but it never came.
“i love you too, mark.”
mark opened one at to stare at you suspiciously. “...really? like, seriously?”
you chuckled. “yes, really. for a few months now.”
“wait, you’re not pranking me or anything, right?” mark asked with a small laugh.
you glared at him. “mark...”
“i’m sorry, i’m just really surprised!” mark opened his mouth to say something but then gasped and dug into his back pocket to grab something.
when he pulled out a small piece of mistletoe you seemed to fall in love with the brunette boy all over again. he grabbed one of your hands and gently pulled you closer to him, using the other hand to hold the mistletoe over your guys’ heads.
“i brought this just in case. i know that you’ve always fantasized about a moment like this so...” he said sheepishly. “kiss me?”
you laughed and brushed his hair out of his eyes before cupping his cheeks and placing a soft kiss on his lips. you felt him smile into the kiss, making you laugh and pull away.
“been waiting for that one too, huh?” you teased.
mark waved the mistletoe above the two of you and shook his head. “less talking and more kissing please...”
it took you over 10 years for you to realize that you loved mark lee but, if you had to, you would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
