Play With Me

The Past
“Sulli?” He called for her, sitting on her bed to wait for her to come out of her hiding spot,   “Guess I’ll have to eat these cookies by myself,”
She stuck her hand out from under the bed, he quickly grabbed it and slid her out. “No! Paul, stop!”
“No more hiding under the bed.” He told her. The older boy helped her up to her feet before handing her a cookie.
“I like it there.” She said, “It's safe.”
“You are safe with me too,” He reminded her, before motioning her onto the bed, “C’mon”
“Leah and Sam were arguing again,” She told him quietly, leaning into him. Sulli had found his feverish skin to be something of a comfort in her time at the Clearwaters, and always sought it out, even in the other boys when they were around. None of them made her feel as safe as Paul, although Embry was a close second. She liked how quiet he was compared to the others.
Paul sighed,“I heard,”
“When my mom used to get mad at my daddy, she would throw things at him and one time, i tried to help my daddy and got cut by the glass and now I have this scar,” She pointed to the faded scar just below her eyebrow. “He was so mad after he made me go to the bathroom and told me to hide in the tub until he came to get me,”
“No ones going to hurt you here.” Paul told her softly, matting down her hair that had gone all messy due to her hiding under the bed,  “We’re family, we all love each other,”
She tore a piece off her giant cookie as she told him, “My mom said love hurts and you just have to deal with the pain.”
“That's not true, Sulli.” He scoffed, wrapping his arm around her shoulders, “The people that love you will never hurt you.”
“But she loves me,” She insisted, although Paul had never questioned her mothers love for her. Sulli still felt the need to defend her.
“Love is about happiness.” Paul said quietly,  “You do things to see the person you love smile and that makes you happy, you don’t want to see them in pain, or hurt.”
“Oh,” She asked curiously, “Are you in love?”
He chuckled at her innocent question and nodded his head, “Yes,”
“You have a girlfriend?” She asked, though she frowned as she said it.
“I don’t.” He denied with a small chuckle at her reaction. Sue had joked that Sulli had a small crush on Paul, to which the little girl denied. She said she couldn’t possibly have a crush on him because he never wore shoes outside and was constantly covered in dirt.
“So how are you in love?” Sulli asked with her typically wide eyes of curiosity.
“You don’t need to be in a relationship to be in love.” He explained, adding, “I love a lot of people. I love my dad, I love the pack, I love you, Sue, and Emily. That's why I protect everyone, because I love them. I don’t want to see the people I love hurt or sad.”
“I don’t know,” She shared with uncertainty,  “My mom and dad do love each other, and they love me.”
“Okay, Sulli.” He wasn't going to argue with her, Paul was constantly reminding himself that he was talking to a kid who couldn’t see things as anything other than black and white.. She would know when she's older what real love feels like. He would make sure of it. Paul stood up with a small sigh and took two long strides towards the door.
“Where are you going?”Sulli asked, her lip jutting out slightly, making her seem like the kid she was rather than her normal stern look she wore. She was a mini Sue in the making.
“I’m going to have a nap,” He told her. Paul had taken residency in the guest room across from Sullis. While he had been there the week leading up to her arrival, it was starting to be a more permanent fixture in the Clearwater house. “I’ve got work later,”
Sulli frowned. She thought he’d at least be home for dinner, but recently he was gone all morning and all night. With a distinct tone of disappointment, she asked, “Again?”
“Yeah,” He nodded, frowning to match her own.
“You can sleep in here,” She offered with a sense of hope. Sulli didn’t want to be left alone anymore, not after Paul's reassurance that Sam and Leahs argument wouldn’t lead to anything more serious.  “I even have a new book to read to you so that you can sleep well.”
“You sure?” He asked with his hand lingering on the doorknob as he watched her grab a new book she and Sue must have got at the library. It was more of a novel than the little books she had been reading before, though everyone in the Clearwater knew she had a more advanced reading level than any eleven years old they knew.
“Yeah,” Sulli confirmed before climbing back on her bed, leaving space for him beside her before she was patting the spot as an invitation.  “C’mon, now.”
------
The Present
“Are you just going to stand there?” He grumbled through the dark. His head didn’t even lift to see who had opened the door, allowing the hall light to shine into his dark room. “Or, are you going to join me?”
A smile teased at Sullis lips. The sound of his deep, sleepy voice made butterflies erupt in tummy. She had many sleepovers with men after getting a little too drunk, but none ended up with her waking up alone in a bed that was not her own. She was dressed in Paul clothes, the scent of his cologne lingering and slightly wondered how much of a fight she had put up with him while trying to get her out of her tight, little dress, “Not with that attitude.”
“C’mon,” Paul groaned, turning onto his back and slinging an arm over his eyes after peering over at her. The light is most likely burning them.
Sulli shut the door to the hallway and padded her way over to him. The older man held up the duvet, allowing her to join him under the warmth. Paul's house was as cold as Sues was, and with the temperatures quickly dropping as winter approached, she was thankful he had put her in sweatpants and a hoodie.
Paul gave her space in his bed, nearly a forearm's length apart. It was space that she didn’t want. All she wanted were his comforting arms.
“I’m overwhelmed,” She whispered into the darkness as she laid on her side, looking at his silhouette.
Paul moved onto his side, facing her before responding, “Why?”
“If I let you get close and then you disappear again,” Sulli stopped, tears filling her eyes as she choked up, “I can’t go through that again. Not with you.”
“That's what you're worried about?” He chuckled, as if it were the most dramatic thing he had ever heard.
“God, you are such a jerk,” she sat up, disgruntled and the start of a headache starting to build left her with zero patience for a man who couldn’t handle her emotions. He had been so good with her when she was younger, always sitting with her and letting her talk to him like a friend. Now, she really had no clue who Paul Lahote was. Sulli moved to get off the bed before she was pulled right into his chest, their faces mere inches apart. She could feel his chest rise with every breath he took, as if his own actions caught him off guard.
“I’m not going anywhere, Sulli,” He murmured quietly.
Though the younger girl was no longer having his charming ways, she wanted him to be real with her. Just once. Shifting onto her back, allowing him to keep his grip on her waist, she brought up something that had nagged her from childhood,  “Paul, you could find a wife and start a family and forget all about me within a year.”
“Not going to happen.” He refuted, his hand left her waist and  began to travel up her arm, leaving her skin tinged with heat as he did.
“Your wife could hate me.” She pointed out.
“Not likely.” He denied, his hand brushing over her shoulder before moving up her neck. His index finger tracing her jawline.
“Paul,” Sulli sighed, looking back to him
“Sulli,” He mocked, cupping her jaw and keeping her gaze on him,“What if I told you that you were the only girl for me,”
She laughed at the ridiculousness of his suggestion,“I’d say you're full of shit and trying to get back on my good side.”
“You’re my imprint.” He said, an emotion she couldn’t detect in his tone. Though the word was familiar from the night before, he had yet to tell her it's meaning. Or at least, she doesn't remember the conversation happening, if it did.
“I still don’t know what that means,” She spoke quietly, bringing her own hand to his face, tangling their limbs. She swiped her index finger across the bow of his lips, mesmerised by him. She wanted him, all of him, in an explainable way. Though she figured this was what he was trying to tell her. An imprint, a mark made by someone that had the potential to be long lasting, depending on the surface.
“It's a wolf thing,” Paul answered, his eyes searching her face for a reaction as he continued. He seemed uneasy. As if he could possibly scare her off. Sulli was the most at ease she had felt in years, maybe it was the comfy mattress she was currently on, or the clothes of the man in front of her that engulfed her body. Most likely, it was the heat of the man who had once saved her from her own mind, allowing her to be a kid in a situation that should have never involved one, “Our imprint is our anchor, I guess. A reason to keep hold of our humanity, but also a reason to continue phasing. Someone to protect, and love. ”
“Like a mate?” She asked, she had read about wolves having one mate for their life span. Building and growing with the pack, but never leaving their one true mate, even if one were to die.
“I guess, yeah.” Paul agreed, mentioning, “It has to do with our ancestors, or at least that's what the elders say. They think imprints are beneficial to their wolf. We are whatever our imprints need us to be for them, a brother, friend, lover..Our imprint is the force that keeps us grounded, it's like we no longer need gravity. Just them. ”
“But I was a kid.” Sulli brought up her sole focus on his use of the word lover.
“I know,” He reassured, stroking her cheek as he thread his knee in between hers, binding them even more. “Until you kissed me, I never saw you as anything but a little sister to me.”
Sulli nodded. Her mind worked overtime to keep up with what he was saying, to make sense of it all. Looking at him with bashful eyes, she couldn’t help but ask,“You’re not going anywhere?”
“Not unless you tell me to go.” Paul's face softened, a look he had rarely on his face now, but was in a constant state when she was a kid.
“And if I do?” She asked curiously. Not that she would ask him to leave, she had plenty of reasons and opportunities over the past month, and yet she felt herself being drawn to him like a magnet even more. The imprint, she supposed.
Paul's brows furrowed as he thought about what she asked, “I don’t know..That's never happened.”
She sighed, “I don't want to hurt you, Paul.”
“Hurt me how?” His eyebrow raised in question.
“What if I'm not what you're expecting.” Sulli asked surly. She was a lot of things, but damaged was written in bold and underlined twice in her book.
“I spent ten years feeling every bit of pain you were in,” The older man pointed out, “I thought you were stuck in one shitty home, not multiple. I know what I’m expecting, and I’m okay with giving you anything that you need. Do you need a punching bag? Hit me. You need to scream? Go for it. You want space? I’ll give you it.” His tone was as serious as she had heard it, letting her know that he was all in to reclaim his spot as top wolf in her life. “I just need you to tell me what you want. I can’t read your mind.”
“My coping method is sex,” She noted. It had been since she was fifteen. It allowed her to escape for as long as she could, masking the pain through pleasure and faux affection.
Paul grinned boyishly,“Great, I love sex.”
“Paul!” She giggled, “My therapist doesn’t think it's great. She thinks I’m an addict.”
“Partially my fault.” He added, and she looked at him in confusion.
“Hm?”
“We are tethered, we feel everything the other feels.” He explained, moving his hand back to her hip to give it a quick squeeze before slipping his hand beneath her sweatpants and caressing one smooth globe a flesh,  “So, if I was hooking up with some girl, you’d probably get horny too.”
“And we both know you were a horndog.” Sulli teased, “Mr. I Don’t Have A Girlfriend.”
“I didn’t have a girlfriend,” He murmured, leaning his forehead against hers. He was so close she could feel his breath against her lips. So close she could kiss him.
“Mhm,” Sulli tsked, “I know a player when I see one,”
Brushing his lips against hers quickly, and teasingly, Paul mumbled as he pressed his pelvis into hers. His hormones on full display like a teenage boy in bed with a girl for the first time,“Hmm, I only want to play with you though,”
She breathily moaned at his touch, “I’ll play with you.”

The Princess and The Wolf

"well, well, well, look who it is." Sulli teased as she tapped Paul on the shoulder. She shouldn’t be surprised, she had spotted Jared first, then knew he couldn’t have been too far. The really do travel like a pack. Though she was disappointed she never received a text he was back in town.
“Sulli, what are you doing here?" A genuine confusion crossed his features.
"having fun," Sulli said vibrantly, putting her hand on his chest as she asked,  "want to have fun with me?"
"you’re drunk," Paul mused, watching as she apologized to a girl who had bumped into her.
"barely," She brooded. She wished she was blacked out on the dance floor, but the moody wolf caught her eye. Standing on her toes she whispered in his ear,  "missed you,"
"thats how i know you are drunk," He chuckled, “let me get you a taxi,"
She frowned, not understanding why he was acting the way he was. She did miss him. All the time, it felt like she was missing something and when she was with him, that feeling disappeared. Sulli figured out in Seattle that it was him.
"whats wrong?" The older man asked, sliding his arm around her waist to pull her closer as other people moved past them.
“Why are you so mean all the time?" She asked, her lip jutting out like a little kid.
Pauls eyebrows furrowed at her question, “I didn’t do anything,"
“Nows not the time, Paul," A man she vaguely remembered said from behind him
“Back off," Paul snapped at the familiar man before turning back to her. He cupped her cheek, regaining her focus solely on him, “Hm?"
He didn’t get it.  Of course he didn’t. Sulli couldn’t help but sneer as she spoke, “I cant believe i was willing to give you a second chance,"
“Hey," He frowned, stroking her cheek softly. She could feel herself wavering, torn between wanted to forgive him or punch him. All from one little touch and his soft brown eyes. She wouldn’t let this go that easily, no fucking way.
Sulli pushed him off, “You said you were going to protect me."
“Sulli,” His eyes widened as he began to try and calm her down as her tone got louder, only to be cut off.
Sulli could practically feel the rage in her veins like she had when she saw him for the first time in ten years, “You never showed up. They called you and you never fucking came!”
“What are you talking about?” He asked, holding her shoulders to keep her from swaying back and forth.
“At the hospital. I told them you would believe me.” Sulli murmured quietly as tears filled her eyes. Her drunk mind bringing her back to when she was a little girl, fighting the nurses as she begged them to call Paul, or Sue. She had just broken her arm after being pushed down a flight of stairs by her foster dad, Larry, and it was her word against her foster parents. She knew Paul would believe and get her out of there but he never showed.
"take her home," Sam ordered, coming up from behind Paul, "now,"
"Sam," Paul started, his eyes hardening again.
"Go, Paul." Sam demanded, not backing down, "you’re too distracted and she’s drunk, it’s not safe."
Paul sighed and tugged her wrist roughly, “come on,"
"no,” Sulli fought back, digging her heels into the ground.
"I’m not asking," He nearly barked at her, only for her to cross her arms in defence. He couldn’t intimidate her. He sighed and before she knew it, she was thrown over his shoulder.
With a small shriek of surprise, she demanded, ”put me down!”
“Paul!” She yelled again as the breeze of fresh air hit her, causing her to wonder how he made it to the door and outside so quickly.
The older man ignored her pleas and profanity as he promptly walked through the parking lot with her over his shoulder, only setting her down once they had reached what she assumed was his car. A old, beaten down Jeep. She remembered it from when she was little.
"I’m gonna be sick," She warned before bolting to the bushes lining the car park. Paul wasn’t far behind her as she felt her hair being gathered and lifted from her shoulders and back. A soothing hand rubbing up and down her spine.
As she finished puking, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and stood up straight way to fast for her brains liking. The world around her was spinning causing her to stumble backwards and right into Paul who caught her by her waist, keeping her upright and on her feet.
"fuck, Sulli," He looked down at her with concerned eyes as she peered up at him.
"sorry," She mumbled as she let him lead her to his car. He opened the door for her and got her seated before she began to kick off her heels, “ I can just walk home.”
"no, hey, it’s okay." He reassured her as he knelt in front of where she sat with her legs dangling out of the passenger seat of his car, "you feel better? hm?"
She nodded, "are you mad at me?"
"no," He said as he swiped her hair from her face for her, "just worried,"
"you worry about me?" The younger girl asked teasingly. A childish grin on her face as she twisted her body to get a better look at the inside of his car. She had never been inside of it before, holding true to not wanting to be stuck in a moving vehicle with him.
Paul muttered, “everyday for the past ten years,"
"why?" She asked curiously. He sure didn’t act like he was worried about her.
"because..." Paul let out a sigh, as if he was reluctantly telling her something,  "you’re my imprint."
"imprint." Sulli repeated.
“Yeah,”
A look of confusion crossed her face as she racked her brain for a definition of the word imprint. She could only come up with one and she doubted thats what he meant so, begrudgingly, she admitted, “I don’t know what that is.”
“I know.” He chuckled before mentioning, “Thats what we need to talk about. Is Kaycee working tonight?”
“Yeah,” She hummed absentmindedly.
“You’re staying with me tonight.” He told her, and from his tone she knew better than to argue. Besides, she didn’t want to be alone anyways, that was the whole reason she went out after work.
A small whine left the girls lips, “Only if rub my back like you did when I was little.”
“I’ll do anything for you, princess.” He murmured, sliding his palm across the length of her bare thigh. The little dress she wore exposed the entire length of her leg and as his hand reached near the hem, she put hers over top of his, holding it in place. The heat radiating from it warmed her body. She smiled at the pet name, remembering how she had, had a nightmare and he told her about a fairytale. Paul had completely made it up, telling her she was princess, and he was the wolf that was going to protect her. She didn’t need a prince because she was strong on her own, but the wolf would always be there to help.  If only that were true.
Sulli looked at him with an unamused look before she muttered, “I am a fucking princess.”

You Know I'm No Good - 44
Tumblr media
A/N: I'M BACK!
Between crying babies and chatty seat neighbours, the flight was a long one. As she crossed through a pair of sliding doors and out into the kiss and ride area, she instantly spotted the raven haired women that made it all worth it.
"Hi, mommy," Tallulah said as she wrapped her mom up in a tight bear hug, forgetting all about her bags.
"Oh, Lula," Winona grabbed her cheeks, taking her in, in person for the first time in five months, “You look so grown up,"
“We facetimed almost every day," Tallulah said teasingly. Though she understood what she meant. Her style had completely changed since arriving in New York. Long gone were the baggy, oversized clothes that she wore. Adopting a more feminine, soft aesthetic. Courtesy of her roommate Nell, who reminded her almost everyday of her first week in New York, that she was not in La Push anymore. She could dress to impress. Especially for the galleriest who came to look at all of their work, which seemed to be weekly.
Most of her wardrobe were cable knit sweaters she had thrifted, the only thing that compared to the warmth of her imprint. That thought alone struck a cord in her chest, a never-ending pit of longing for a man she had no spoken to since the fall break.
“I know," Her mother smiled, "you just.. im so proud of you." She said as she took a step back, the proudest smile Tallulah had ever seen growing on her face, "look at you, my little artist,“
Tallulah groaned, “is it a goal to make me cry today?”
"shush,”Winona jokingly said as she picked up one of her bags, light packing was not an option when Washington weather was so unpredictable "no crying, I made ginger snaps,"
"fuck, yes." Tallulah moaned in excitement. The first sign of Christmas in their household was the smell of ginger snaps, a generational recipe.
“I dropped some off to Paul this morning,”
“Mom,” Tallulah frowned, though she understood why they had kept in contact despite the endless phone calls she had made to her mother in tears over him. He was never going to be gone for good.
"he’s going to know you’re back," Winona tutted, ushering her daughter into her car,”  if he shows up, what do you want me to tell him?"
Tallulah rolled her eyes before grumbling, “to go fuck himself,"
"hm,”Her mother hummed before asking the question sh had been dreading most of all. The question that almost kept her from getting on the plane in the first place,   "did you tell him?"
"no." Tallulah mumbled, bringing her knees up to her chest as she looked out the window to see the cityscape she loved so much. Seattle still had her heart it always will, she feared,
After a brief moment of silence, her mom voiced her opinion, “you should have,"
"it wouldn’t have made a difference, mom,” Tallulah snapped in frustration. She didn’t get it. This wasn’t some boy she could move on from. It was Paul, her entire world. He left her scared and alone, something he promised to never do. Avoiding him for a couple of months won’t kill him, but she figured it would show him how much he screwed up. Though, she didn’t think it would take this long for him to let her stew in her anger.
"lets get something to eat," W”inn hanged the subject, noticing her change in mood, “are you hungry?"
"i ate on the plane." She fibbed. A white little lie. A mini bag of pretzels was enough to quell her queasy stomach, anything more than that would just come right back up.
Noticing her moms worried look, she gave her a reassuring smile, "I’m fine, mom. i can handle this without flying off the rails,"
"i never said--"
"thats what everyone wants." Tallulah cut her off, “to tell me I’m still a child who doesn’t have her shit together and having some older boyfriend will fix that."
"I’ve never wanted that." Winona reinforced, something she had told her daughter many times over the phobe,  "i just want you to be safe and happy."
"i am," Tallulah promised.
With a nod, her mother thankfully switched the subject again. One she was actually ready to talk about, “okay, tell me more about this gallery spot,"

YOU KNOW IM NO GOOD - Forty Four
Four months since Tallulah has moved to New York. Four months of new adventures, new people, new everything.
Six weeks since shes heard from Paul. Albeit, that was her own doing for blocking his number. deep down though, she'd figure he'd run to her. or maybe that was another one of his broken promises.
In two hours, she would be back in Forks, where she will spend her three week winter break.
Alone.

Right Where You Left Me
Hold Me Down
Tumblr media
I’ve never been more thankful for a spare class, even though I know it was given to me out of pity. It gives me time to catch up on the school work I’ve been slacking on between being in the hospital and all these incessant nightmares.
Though today, I have spent it daydreaming. It's been nearly a week since I’ve seen Paul and it is starting to take a toll on me mentally.
Kim had said there had been issues over the weekend and I still haven't heard from him, nor has he been home.
I spot the one person I’ve been meaning to talk to walk out of the science building and know that now would be the best time, considering I’ve got no wolves hovering around me to piss her off.
“Leah, wait!” I call after her, leaving my belongings behind to chase after her.
The older woman turned back with a look of annoyance, “What do you want?”
“I just thought maybe we could catch up, it's been a while.” I say softly.
Leah shifts her weight from one foot to the other, crossing her arms in front of her chest, “Have you finally come to your senses?”
“About what?” I furrow my brows.
“Don’t act stupid. About Sam!” Leah snapped at me, “You’re one of them now! My mom told me Paul wouldn’t even leave your side when you were in the hospital, she said it was cute.”
She spit out the word cute as if it were the most disgusting thing she had heard, before continuing her rant, “By the way, a dog attack? Everyone else may have bought that, but I’m not.”
I folded my arms across my chest, this was not the way I wanted this conversation to go. Leah and I never fight, but I’m not going to let her spew hate about Paul, or the rest of the pack for that matter, “What's that supposed to mean?”
“It means you should’ve taken my advice and just left him alone. Now look at you, lying for him!” She practically shouted at me.
“I’m not lying!” I said, matching her energy, “You don’t know him like you think you do.”
“No, but I know you. You’re too empathetic.” Leah said, scrunching her nose up. I frown at her judgement. She wasn't complaining about my empathy when I was the shoulder she was crying on about Sam.
“What? Do you want me to be more like you?” I shot back, adding, “At least I can forgive people when they deserve it.”
Leahs jaw dropped, “You think Sam deserves it? Fuck you.”
“I’m not talking about Sam! I could care less if you forgive him.” I rolled my eyes. Sam was complicated, I know that now. Between turning into a giant wolf, and imprinting on Emily, it was a recipe for disaster. I don’t agree with him just straight up ignoring Leah, and getting Paul to do the same to me, but I’m sure being the alpha of a pack with no one to guide him, is a stressful job.
“Then who?” She asked, placing her hands on her hips in an annoyed stance.
“Me!” I nearly shouted, “I used to be able to talk to you about anything, I still want to! But you’re pushing your hatred for Sam onto me. It’s not fair.”
“You ditched me for him.” Leah accused and now it was my turn for my jaw to drop. I hadn’t been around, sure, but I was still figuring things out with Paul and then the whole hospital situation didn’t leave really any room for time with Leah, but she never even messaged me. I would have responded, I always do.
“I didn’t, I never would. It’s just complicated because of Paul, but I think you would like him if you got to know him. The way I know him.” I tried to explain, but Leah just scoffed. The onslaught of tears was coming, I could feel them. I felt like I was breaking up with my best friend. This hurt more than Tessa dropping me because of the gang rumor, which, now that I’ve thought about it, she probably had a hand in spreading.
Leah sneered, “Fat chance of that happening. I’m not running in that crowd.”
I nod, wiping the first tear to fall. There was no use in arguing with her. Leah was as stubborn as she was loyal, I’m just no longer on the list of people she keeps close.
“Guess I’ll see you around then..” I mumbled tearfully.
“Kia,” She said softly, “I’ll be here when you need it. It may seem like he's into you now, but he will kick you to the curb just like Sam did to me.”
I shook my head, knowing that wasn’t true. Oh, how I wish I could tell her their secret. I sigh and sniffle as I say,  “He won’t.”
“I’ll see you around, Kia, you’re bodyguards waiting for you.” Leah said snarkily before turning on her heels. I looked over my shoulder to see Paul standing  at the picnic table I had been doing homework at. A frown gracing his face as I walked towards him. I quickly wiped the tears that fell onto my cheeks.
“She doesnt know whats she talking about,”Paul said as I reached him, shaking his head as he mutters, “Leahs just a miserable--”
“She's my friend!” I cry, cutting him off and wrapping my arms around myself as the onslaught of tears finally comes.
Paul immediately pulled me in for a bear hug, “It's okay. She’ll see soon enough, mi estrella.”
“Estrella?” I question, not knowing the meaning of the Spanish word.
“Star.”He tells me, before placing a kiss on my hairline, “My favourite astrologer.”
I let myself sink into him more with a soft sigh. I never knew one person could make me feel so at peace, whenever I’m with Paul, he knows exactly how to take away my pain. Even if it's just for a little while. I tilt my head upwards to rest my chin on his chest, “I missed you so much.”
“Missed you too.” Paul grinned down at me, his hand leaving my hip to travel the length of my spine,  “S’happy I can finally touch you again. That photo wasn’t doing you justice.”
“Nu uh, we need to talk about what happened.” I tell him. As much as I would love to hop in his truck and head to our little place of solace, he got himself in trouble. He hadn’t told me on the phone when he called, but Kim had messaged me the day after to let me know about his quick temper while I was gone.
She had said that Paul almost let his temper get the best of him while off hunting some vampire in the area, and then lost at Sam in his own home for not doing more to keep them off our land. I understand why, he usually had front row seats to my nightmares. The star of them is a single vampire with blood red eyes. I tried to keep them a secret, until Paul had forced me to tell him, thinking maybe he could help with telling the difference between what was real, and what wasn’t.
He grimaced and looked over my head, “Right now?”
“Kim told me,” I said softly “I just want to know your point of view.”
“I missed you.” He murmured, looking back down at me. I could see the disappointment in his eyes.
I stroked his cheekbone gently, “I missed you too.”
“When you’re not around, I feel…God, this sounds fucking stupid.” He grumbled with a shake of his head before letting go of me and sitting on the picnic bench. Paul was quick to pull me back into his arm and into his lap.
I brush his overgrown hair from his eyes, “Hey, don’t say that. I want to know how you feel, good or bad, you can talk to me.”
“I know. I’m trying.” He told me sincerely. I nodded encouragingly and he continued, “I feel like I don’t have an anchor..Nothing to hold onto when things get too…intense.”
“I understand, Paul.”
“As soon as it happened, all I thought about was you. What would you say to me? It helped a bit, but it wasn’t the same.” He opened up honestly, more than I had expected from him. Paul had gotten used to channelling his anger to his wolf, he had said that's what Sam had encouraged him to do before he had imprinted on me. Now, he's been asked to do a complete 180.  “I guess..I sometimes worry that I’m disappointing you.”
“Me?” I asked, not sure why he would think that. It's almost impossible for him to disappoint me. For someone who had claimed he wasn’t ‘the relationship’ prior to the imprint, he was doing a hell of a lot better at it then I am. Even before, he always wanted to go do things together, I was fine just sneaking through his window. Neither of us are good at being vulnerable, but if I ask, he delivers, everytime.
“You were so happy when Sam finally said I didn’t need supervision anymore, and then I lost it. I hurt you.” He frowned at the memory, “It’s like I’m back at square one.”
I shake my head and hold his cheeks to bring his eyes back to mine, “That’s not true. I am so proud of you, okay? The little things matter too.”
“I don’t know. I’m working on it though, I promise.” Paul dips his head forward and pecks my lips, as if he's sealing that promise.
“Can I be honest with you?” I ask, and he nods as he pulls back, “I know you don’t like talking about it with me and I get it.You want us to be as normal as can be. But what you do for the tribe, would take a toll on anyone. That's why you have a pack. Lean on them when you need it, I’m sure they feel the same way you do.”
Pressing a kiss to my forehead, before murmuring, “I feel like the luckiest man alive with you in my arms.”
“I know the feeling.” I said as I tuck my head into the crook of his neck, placing a gentle kiss to the side of it, “You’re like a giant heating pad.”
He chuckled, “You know, I can feel when your cramps are bad.”
“Can you?” I sigh in contentment.
“It's dull, like everything else I feel from you. But I know you’re in pain.” He explains before he slides his hand to my lower back, spreading his palm over my spine. “It's always your back.”
“Remember when you used to think I was overexaggerating?” I poke at him with a teasing smile.
“I’m sorry.” He said genuinely, “I’ll make it up to you in a couple of days,,”
“A couple of days?” I ask, before moving to straddle him.
“Right now?” he wiggled his eyebrows, “I’m not afraid of a little blood.”
“Gross,” I cringe at the thought, “How ‘bout a kiss?”
“I’ll give you as many kisses as you’d like, pretty girl.” He mumbled before bringing his hand to the back of my neck to hold me in place as he brushed his lips against mine. I instantly bring my hands to his hair, indulging in the feeling that I’ve missed so much. One thing about Paul and I, we will always be a physical couple. Though there is the fine line we have never crossed, which is what to label ourselves. To everyone else, it looks like we are already dating and maybe we are. But the conversation has never happened, and I’m not sure it ever will. We’re partners. Have been for a while, and that will never change.
“I don’t want you to cut your hair.” I mumbled, tangling my fingers into the ends on the nape of his neck before bringing my lips back to his.
“You prefer when I'm neat.” He tutted against my lips.
I blush at his statement, before curling into his body for more heat.“Not the hair on your head, doofus.”
He chuckled, “I know, baby. I’ll keep it as long as I can manage.”
“Just enough to braid,” I suggested, “I miss doing that.”
“It's getting there,” he said, shaking his hair wildly. I couldn't help but giggle as I brushed it away from his eyes.
“So handsome.” I murmur, before bringing his head down and pressing my lips back to his once, “I could kiss you all day,”
“I won't stop you.” Paul said, squeezing my hip. “I have Friday night off, want to go to the look out?”
“We’ll need more blankets this time, my back has just recovered.” I said teasingly as I stroked the side of his face. We had found the lookout after an evening that went awry, both of our fathers had come home, leaving us with no bedroom. We drove around for a few hours before we found it. I remember joking that that was where he took all his favourite girls, and he promised it would just be our spot. Paul had even divulged in the information that he had cleaned the bed of his truck thoroughly, calling it brand new and untouched. It was loaded with blankets and pillows because he had been watching the weather, after I had told him I wanted to go stargazing at the beach. Though the lookout was a way better spot. No tourists, with an amazing few of the water below.
I think that's when I first realised I was falling for him, despite our no feelings agreement.
“I’ve got something even better.” He whispered before Paul nipped my ear gently.
“Hey, love birds! Not on school property!” Emily called from the window of her classroom. I giggled uncontrollably, mentally adding the picnic tables to the list of places Emily has told us PDA is unacceptable.
“She's everywhere, I swear.” Paul muttered, he was not a fan of all the rules and regulations of where and when he could touch all because he couldn’t keep his hands to himself at a pack dinner.

Let Me Down Easy
Word Count: 1655
PAULS POV
Tumblr media
Paul heard Kaycee say from the backdoor, “Yeah, she's gone for the week. If anything happens to Tommy, she’ll kill me.”
It didn't take a genius to figure out that she was talking about Sulli. Tommy was basically her child, she cared more for him than anything else on earth.
“Hey, man.” Collin nodded in his direction as he entered the room.
“Where's Sulli?” Paul asked, sitting in the lazy boy across from the lovesick imprints. He envied them, they had it so easy. Meanwhile, he could figure out how to keep his own imprint from hating him. Paul felt it, it was hard to ignore but he didn’t want to anyway. It was his own personal punishment for hurting Sulli. Three weeks and counting since their argument. Paul was on edge more and more every single day.
“Seattle.” Kaycee said nonchalantly as she kept her eyes downcast on Collin.
“What's in Seattle?” Paul asked quizzically. Sulli had never mentioned anything about Seattle as she had started to open up to him after spending more nights in his sheets than her own. She would talk about anything, from the new plant she had gotten to old highschool stories and Paul listened to every single word she said.
Kaycees eyes flicked up at him, “Why do you care?”
He shrugged, “Just making conversation.”
“Her dad’s prison is in Seattle.” Brady informed me from the doorway to the living room, a sandwich in hand. The kid never stopped eating. Paul opened his mouth to tell him to get lost, knowing that was an off limits conversation to Sulli. It always had been, even as a little girl she would shut down if anyone but herself mentioned her father.
Kaycee beat him to it as she scoffed, “Yes, it is. But that's not why she's there you jerk.”
“Why else would she be there?” Brady shot back.
“Kay?” Collin looked up from her lap, all eyes on Sullis bestfriend for an answer.
She looks between the three men, “It's not for me to say.”
Brady scoffed, “Oh, come on. Is it because of some guy?”
“No, it's not,” She said pointedly, “It's because of you!”
“Me?!” The youngest wolf asked as if it were the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard.
Paul stayed silent, he knew it was a possibility. The guilt that had been eating at him since their argument reared its ugly head. Had they really pushed her too far? Maybe he should have left her relationship with Brady alone, he thought.
Kaycee stood up from her spot on the couch, forcing Collin to sit up,“She’s talking about moving to Seattle and finishing up her schooling there because you decided to do a complete 180!”
Brady gulped nervously, his eyes shifting from Kaycee to Paul, before back at her again, “You’re sure that's why she's there?”
“I’m positive.” She said with surety, “She said the only thing keeping her here was me, and now that I have Colin and she knows I won't be alone, she wants a fresh start. Again. I would too if I was her.”
“Meaning?” Paul crossed his arms as he watched his imprint's best friend justify Sullis decisions.
“Meaning everywhere she goes she gets fucked over.” Kaycee said. Paul could see the sympathy in her eyes and his jaw locked into place. She knows something he doesn't, it was obvious, though that didn't surprise him. Kaycee continued her rampage, clearly enraged by the whole ordeal that had occurred, “This was supposed to be her fresh start after foster care, a real home. You two stomped all over that and ruined it.”
Paul scoffed, standing up to face Kaycee as she took an unprovoked step towards him,“I don't know why you’re dragging me into this.”
“I warned you. I said to leave her friendship with Brady alone and you didn't.” She poked his chest with her pointer finger, as if that would help her get her point across better, “She has me, Paul. That's it. And then Brady and Collin came along and it was great until you ruined that, now all she has is me again.”
Kaycee looked towards Collin who seemed stuck to the couch, watching with bated breath. She tilted her head towards the door before turning to Paul and saying,  “Just leave her alone, Paul.”
“I would if she wasn’t my fucking imprint.” He said angrily. Paul had never meant for things to go this way. It's not what had wanted, or even envisioned the first time he had laid eyes on her. Sulli was supposed to stay in La Push. Sue wanted her to stay, to have the family she deserved to have. A life that he got to witness, and be a part of. That's what he had wanted.
Instead she was ripped from him and next thing he knows he is staring in the eyes of a young woman who's been sleeping with his little brother.
“What?” Kaycees face went through a multitude of emotions, “I knew it.”
“Dont fucking tell her.” Paul snapped before pushing past her, the small living room now making him feel claustrophobic. He needed her voice, even if it meant her losing her cool again. It was selfish, but he didnt care. The alternative was letting the rage inside of him take over and running to Seattle to see her in person.
He dialled her number and groaned impatiently as it went straight to voicemail.
Trying again, his fingers tightened around his phone as he listened to the dial tone. He nearly gives up before hearing he soft a sigh on the other line but her harsh tone of voice, “What do you want?”
The corner of his mouth upticks, at least she answered,“Do you have time to talk?”
“Not with you.” She laughed insultingly. He grimaced, realizing he could just charm his way out of this one.
“Sulli, please.” He begged.. His eyes widened as he realised what he had said. Paul was not a beggar, yet here he was. There was silence on her end, so he took it as an invitation to keep speaking and hopefully not completely fuck things up again, “You can't move to Seattle.”
Sulli scoffed, “Why not?”
“You wanted to know about the wolf stuff, and I’m ready to tell you.” He said honestly. There was no way of getting back on her good side without telling her the truth. The truth about the pack, the imprint, all of it. Paul continued cautiously saying, “Now, I’m going to be gone for a couple of days, maybe even a week. But when I get back, I’ll tell you.”
“You’re only telling me because I’m mad at you.” She pointed out.
“Yeah.” He agreed, “I don't want you to be mad at me.”
“I’m not moving to Seattle.” She said after a beat, quietly adding, “I just needed a break.”
Paul tried not to let the information of her not moving deter him from what he really wanted to say, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know that things were bad. Nothing about what you went through was fair.”
“That was only the beginning.” Sulli remarked solemnly. That familiar feeling of fury boiled within. The idea of anyone laying their hands on her made him physically sick to his stomach. Paul made a mental note to never let her see his own rage, he didn't want her fear to ever be caused by him and what he was capable of.
“If you want to talk about--” He started, though she cut him off quickly.
“I don’t.” Sulli said adamantly, “I just want to forget and move on. I can’t do that with you, and your friends constantly asking questions that I can’t answer without feeling suffocated.”
“Okay. No more questions.” He acknowledged, before immediately asking after, “Do you feel suffocated in Forks?”
“That's a question.” She pointed out, a small giggle-like sound passed through the speaker causing him to smile. This was good. There was no hostility in her tone of voice, just her usual teasing nature. The one that pulled him every time making him work for her attention to be kept on him as it wandered away until eventually his head was between her legs and she was moaning his name, solely focused back on him. Paul was as selfish as they come, but for her , he would do anything.
“Last question.” Paul promised.
“Sometimes.” She admitted, her voice wavered nervously as she added, “More so La Push. The pack. You.”
“Me.” He confirmed. Paul felt like he had been sucker punched with that revelation. He suffocated her. Was that what he was doing now?
“It's good and bad, y’know? Everyone…moved on with their lives like…like..it was a nightmare for me and just another Sunday for them.” Sulli reasoned, and he could see where she was coming from, but it still didn't ease his mind.
“Can I tell you a secret? Not even Brady knows.” Paul asked, the amount of information he was willing to share was more than he ever thought he would.
“Mhm.” She hummed.
“Sam, Jared and I spent the last ten years looking for you. Just to check on you.” He said warily, unaware of how she would react to the new information. “We only ever caught your scent once, four years ago. Which makes sense if you weren’t too far.”
“I moved around a lot.” She responded, the sound of her moving her phone from one ear to the other filled the speaker before she timidly told him,  “I don’t want to move around anymore.”
Paul frowned, “You don’t need to. Forks is your home.”
She was silent for the longest minute of his life. So quiet he had to check his phone screen to make sure his phone hadn't accidentally disconnected. Sulli sighed quietly before teasingly saying, “I’ll see you in a week, Paul.”

Right Where You Left Me
For Your Eyes Only
Tumblr media
PAUL POV
The feeling of longing aches in my chest. God, I fucking miss Saskia.
I imagine her. Standing in front of me, touching me, telling me to breathe. To work through the steps Sam had given me to control my emotions. I can’t be losing it like this when she's not here, it just means I really don’t have everything under control and the prospect of hurting her again.
Another bout of anger courses through me.
She was so easy to forgive and forget what happened. To let me get close to her again, and wrap her in my arms as if I was the safest place on earth for her.
I wasn’t even angry. I mean not really, I’ve seen her in Jacobs mind. Laughing, working on those stupid bikes, even confiding in him when it should have been me. I should have been there all along. I could have been if I had just locked eyes with her sooner. Sam and his fucking rules ruined that, but his fears became reality all because of a simple touch. Jacobs hand on my imprint.
She won’t make me angry, I don’t think it’s even possible. She's so smart, and kind. Always thinking before she speaks, unlike me. Her way with words is something I envy. It was so easy for her, or at least it sounded easy. I can’t even tell her how I feel most days. The big, bad wolf with emotional baggage he can’t control. Pathetic.
I should have told her I loved her months ago, when the thought first crossed my mind. She was the one, I knew it even before I phased.
Anger, jealousy, envy are all things I know I feel too much of, I know they can trigger an unwanted shift.
My biggest fear is feeling too much of anything around her now, and if that means denying her the one thing she’s been aching for, then so be it. Though I can’t bring myself to admit that to her.Her gentle touch feels like electricity coursing through my veins, even if it's just to comfort me. One simple rush of excitement could ruin everything.
“You okay, son?” My dad asks, jolting me from my inner turmoil.
I grumble in response, not in the mood to divulge into conversation with anyone but Saskia.
He doesn’t get the hint as he asks me another question, “When does Saskia get back?”
“Sunday.” I mutter. It's been just over twenty four hours since she had been gone and I was losing my composure, fast.
“Maybe give her a call.” My dad suggests and I push my chair away from the table to stand up. Seems like everyone thinks Saskia’s the solution to my problem, and maybe she is, but I refuse to burden her with my issues. She has enough going on as it is. We’re finally back to a good place between us, all the normalcy we had before I had phased returning. Like nothing had changed. If I lose it she may not forgive me this time, and disappointing Saskia is not something I can handle right now.
“I’ve got it under control.” I say slowly clenching my fist at the mental image of her frowning because I phased accidentally, again.
“Sure looks like it.” He gripes causing an involuntary growl to escape my throat as I leave the kitchen. Can’t he see I’m trying?!
As soon as I reach my room, I call her number. I don’t care if she doesn't pick up and I have to listen to her voice message. I just need to hear her voice.
“Hey, Paul” She answered after two rings, I could practically hear the smile on her face.
“Hey, babe,” I try to hide the strain in my voice.
“Is everything okay?” She asked, trying to speak louder than  the background noise. Saskia seems to alway know when somethings up, even when I think I’m shielding her from the problem.
I let out a small laugh, “Yeah, I was just calling to check on you..”
“Oh, well, everythings fine here,” she says, before breathily mentioning, “I miss you.”
I could feel the relief fill my senses knowing I wasn’t the only one feeling this way, sometimes it feels like the imprint only affects me. Leaning back against my bed frame, I tell her honestly,  “Miss you too.”
“Hey, listen, we’re just about to head to my aunts for dinner. But I promise to call you after, okay?” Saskia promised, sounding distracted by whatever she was surrounded by, “You can tell me all about the drama I’ve missed between Jake and Bella.”
I let out a genuine laugh, “Will do.”
“Talk to you later, Paul.” She said in a hushed tone before hanging up.
Just like that, I’m alone again. Wondering about where she was going, would something go wrong? There could be leeches there. Maybe I should go check it out, I could find her using her scent. That's weird though. She’ll be fine, I reassure myself.
My phone dings nearly fifteen minutes later, there's a photo message from Saskia. I immediately open it, worried that something is wrong. It's just a mirror photo of her with her shirt bunched up over her breasts. No bra. The arm she was using to hold the camera was covering her scars, whether she did it on purpose or not, I don't know. I don't want her to feel insecure about something I did to her. Her long legs are showcased by a short skirt. The message attached I read aloud to myself, “Something for you to use to pass the time. x o ;)”
“You’re killing me,” I mutter, a grin forming on my face as I take in every detail of the photo. I sent back, “brb printing a poster of you for my room.”
I know she hates the one I’ve currently got, she mentions it every single time. I only keep it up to keep her riled, nobody compares to Saskia in my mind. Nobody ever has. I’ve had a crush on her since the day I moved in next door. The way her mom and her had been dancing in the rain when my dad and I pulled up with the moving truck. The way she laughed as she slipped in the muddy grass and picked herself up like nothing had happened to continue twirling around with a pair of costume fairy wings on.  I was hooked.
“For your eyes only, L¯a wats a¯ kil,” was the next text she had sent. I read it back in confusion, not sure what she had actually called me. It was Quileute, that I knew, but I didn't grow up learning the language like Saskia had. As if she could sense my confusion, she sent a follow up text, “Grams says it means wolf.”
I can’t fight off the grin that forms. Saskia had purposefully asked how to say wolf in Quileute, meaning she was indirectly talking about the pack, maybe even just me, to her grandma. I knew her grandparents were elders and knew the histories well. Maybe they even know about the pack. I can't wait to see her again and hear about what she has learned from them.

where do we go now?
Word Count: 3697
Tumblr media
"And we're lost." Sulli stated as she stopped walking, waiting for Kaycee to catch up to her. Her best friend had insisted on going hiking, citing the lack of time they had been spending together. Kaycee said she felt guilty for putting her new beau before her best friend. While that may have been true, Sulli really hadn’t noticed. Between school and work, the only time she had to herself, had been spent in Paul's bed.
A secret between the two of them that they had agreed upon. No drama. That's what she told him she wanted, and he agreed to keep the peace in the pack. Neither of them were sure of how Brady would take it. Just because he had hurt her, doesn’t mean she wanted to do the same. Sulli cared about him a lot.
Kaycee screwed the top off of her water bottle and took a sip, before ensuring Sulli, "No, I swear this was the way Collin and I came."
"I don't think this is even the trail, Kay," She said, pulling her phone out of her jacket pocket and unlocking it. She held it above her, hoping to find a bar, but no signal was found,  "Fuck, I don’t have service. Do you?"
Kaycee did the same and shook her head with a grimace, “Maybe one of the boys is around.”
“Nu-uh, that's the last thing that we need.” Sulli said forcefully. She didn't want Brady or Paul to find them, she was still mad at the younger wolf and she had yet to tell Kaycee she had been shagging Paul for the past two weeks, let alone on speaking terms with him. “We are independent women, we don’t need them. We’ll find the trail.”
“Sulli,” Kaycee pointed to something behind her. She turned to look, and eyes widened as she watched the giant wolf take a step towards her slowly. It bowed its head to show that he wasn’t a threat before laying down and resting her head on his paws.
She had never seen anything like this before. Paul had once shown her that he could transform into a wolf, but it was from a safe distance. Sulli didn't remember him being this big.
A smile grew on her face as she recognized the fur colour, but more so that the wolf's eyes were nearly identical to Paul's dark brown ones.
“Paul?” She asked to confirm, a whine left his mouth and the younger girl took two steps forward, close enough to touch him much to Kaycees warning from behind her. Reaching forward, Sulli scratched behind his ear, "You're like a big puppy."
“Maybe he can lead us back to the trail,” Kaycee said from behind her, but Sulli was too mesmerized by the giant animal to respond.  The wolf stood up, and Sulli realized just how big he actually was. The two of them now eye level with each other, his eyes never leaving her own.  She reached up to pet his snout, causing him to lean into her touch before letting out a huff and running back into the brush that he had come from. Kaycee gasped and asked,"Did he just leave us here?"
"Are you two out of your fucking minds?!" Paul nearly shouted as he came out from where the wolf had run off to. He was only in a pair of cutoff shorts, not even a pair of shoes on his feet. Sulli let her eyes rake over his body, not caring that he was currently angry with them. If anything, it turned her on. Not that she would admit that to him with Kaycee standing next to her, as far as she knows, Paul was still on her No Kiss list.
Sulli shrugged as her eyes met his now hardened eyes, much different from the wolf's soft ones, "We were just hiking."
Paul scoffed and looked from her to her best friend, pointedly saying,"You know better than to be out here, I know you do"
"Her and Collin--" Sulli tried to defend her friend. No matter how attractive his current frustration might be, there would be hell to pay if he messed with Kaycee.
"Yeah, Collin was with her, " He stressed, turning back to the shorter of the two girls who had crossed her arms defensively.
Sulli rolled her eyes, "It's just a hike! It’s done every single day by other people."
"I don't--" Paul started, but was soon cut off.
"Point us back to the trail and we'll leave. " Kaycee said softly, she wasn’t as confrontational as the other two and it was showing.
"No, I'm taking you back to Emilys." Paul said, his eyes flicking to Sulli as if he expected a reaction. She didn't even know who Emily was, or at least she didn't remember her. Racking her brain, the only other person she could remember spending any memorable time with was a beautiful woman she had thought to resemble her own mom. Though she couldn't recall her name. Perhaps it was Emily, but she didn't know why they would go to her house either way. They couldn't be that far from Kaycees car.
"Why?" She asked, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.
"The pack hangs out there. Emily's Sam's wife.." Kaycee answered for Paul. Sulli was starting to realize how involved Kaycee was getting in all this pack nonsense. It made her happy to see her friend finding her way. Kaycees parents were fine, they had let her stay with them quite a bit during senior year, but they had left Port Angeles for a fresh start, both of them.
Deciding against questioning them again, Sulli instead went for a logical response, "Kaycees car isn't there, that's stupid."
"Collin will grab her car." He mentioned as if it was an obvious solution before saying, "Lets fucking go."
Sulli groaned as he walked past them in the opposite direction they were heading. Kaycee followed him with no complaints, but Sulli couldn't help but mutter, "You're so annoying."
Paul and Kaycee walked ahead of her for the rest of the hike, laughing and talking about things she had no idea about. She’d be lying if she said she wasn’t a tiny bit jealous, though she knew how in love Kaycee was with Colin. It ticked her off to see the way Paul was with her best friend, he certainly wasn’t that way with her.
Even in bed, he was all serious and calculated. Pillow talk was strategic on his end, never bringing up a topic they may have her looking for a quick escape. It worked, but she didn't know this fun, easy going side of him existed.
"Just through there." Paul directed Kaycee before stepping in front of Sulli, blocking her way past him.
She folded her arms over her chest and looked up at him, “I liked you better as a wolf.”
“Are you done?” He cocked his eyebrow as her childish statement.
“It was just a hike.” She whined. Sulli felt like she was being reprimanded by a parent. That was the last thing she wanted to equate him to, it was bad enough that she was lusting over someone who practically babysat her. She likes older guys, that wasn’t new for her, but one that had watched her entire life implode at eleven years old, that was different. There was a vulnerability there that she wasn't ready to accept.
“You were lost.” Paul pointed out.
“We have bear spray.” Sulli muttered. It wasn't the best excuse, but it was true.
“It's not the bears I’m concerned about.” He told her and she was now the one getting annoyed.
“Well if you don't tell me, how am I supposed to know?!” She asked exasperated. It felt like they were going in circles. He was protecting her from something, there had to be something if he was this strung out, but he refused to let her know and it was making her irate.
Paul shook his head, “You don’t need to know.”
“This whole conversation is fucking pointless then.” She remarked, putting her hands on her hips.
“Is it?” He asked, a grin forming on his face. He looked a lot younger when he wasn't so serious. She liked seeing him relaxed, his jaw unlocked with no frown lines near his eyes. It sparked something inside of her to know that she was the reason he had let his guard down now, even if it was only momentarily.
One of his hands slid around her waist to her ass, roughly squeezing it as she bit her lip to suppress a moan. He pulled her into him causing her hands to land on his chest to stop herself from crashing into him completely as he leaned down and softly said, “You’re cute when you’re annoyed.”
Before she could respond with a snarky remark, his lips were on hers and she was sliding her hands up from his chest to wrap her arms around his neck. She didn't even register that he had walked her backwards until her back hit a tree, Sulli was too enthralled in their kiss.
With his hand still massaging her ass, she couldn't help but rock her hips forward into his with a moan.
She pulled away before she could lose herself in his touch and mumbled, “We should go before Kaycee’s mind hits the gutter.”
“Let it.” He said huskily before bringing his lips down and sucking on her neck.  She hummed in satisfaction as he almost immediately found her sweet spot, just below her jaw. Her resolve was quickly dissolving as he brought his other hand down to her thigh and hoisted her up against the tree. She wrapped her legs around his waist and moaned involuntarily as she felt his hardness through her leggings.
“How far is your house?” She asked needily.
Paul pulled his lips away, a smug smirk on his face as he told her, “Too far.”
She let out a small whine, ready to tell him to take her right then and there before a black mass of fur caught her eye. Another wolf was staring right back at as she quietly tried to collect her thoughts. “Um…”
Paul looked over his shoulder at what she was distracted by and the wolf huffed and backed away, disappearing into the greenery. Paul looked back to her and gave her one last peck before telling her, “Let's get you back to Emilys.”
She pouted, running her hand through his hair. “But--”
“We’ll continue this later,” He promised, dropping her back down to her feet. His hands moved from her waist to her ass, giving it a squeeze before removing his hands from her completely. He ushered her in the direction that Kaycee had gone which led into a clearing where a small cottage-like house sat.
Sulli remembered it.
Emily and Sam, they were friends of Sue’s. Emily would babysit her when Sue or Paul were not available. She turned to Paul, no longer wanting to head into that house, “Maybe we--”
“Paul,” A deep voice cut her off, both of them looking into the direction it came from. She noticed the man named Sam as he motioned Paul over.
“I’ll be right back,” He told her, tapping her ass gently before walking in the older man's direction, leaving her alone and uncomfortable. She frowned at his retreating figure before looking back at the homely cottage just as a woman stepped outside.
“Sulli?” The beautiful woman on the doorstep called out.
Emily.
She recognized her, still a beaming ray of sunlight, as she had been ten years prior. Sulli recalled telling Paul she reminded her of a Disney princess. Now, the more she knew about the pack, she could almost laugh at how comical it was. She was basically snow white, and the wolves were her dwarves.
Sulli nodded while trying to stifle a laugh, “Yeah.”
“Come, come, there's some fresh muffins inside.” Emily said brightly. Sulli glanced over at Paul one last time, he was intently listening to whatever Sam was telling him and figured it was important wolf business that she wasn’t about to interrupt.
Letting out a small sigh, she made her way up the front steps and followed behind Emily to the kitchen. Everything was exactly how she remembered, save for a few new photos here and there.
“Where's Kaycee?” She asked shyly. As much disdain she had for this place, she wanted to be polite, for Paul’s sake.
“She went with Collin down to the beach.” Emily informed her, “Muffin, sweetie?”
“Sure.” She nodded, sitting at the table. Sulli grabbed a muffin, and if possible, Emily's smile grew wider than it already was. The older woman sat across from her at the round table and Sulli avoided all eye contact as she let her eyes wander the art and photos scattered about.
Paul sauntered in after an excruciatingly long amount of awkward silence and sat next to her, his arm immediately draped on the back of her chair. She watched him closely, he was no longer relaxed. The crows feet by his eyes signalling his frustration and tension.
Sulli nudged her foot against his under the table, getting his attention, before she asked, “Everything alright?”
He nodded, taking a muffin, “All good.”
“Not a need to know, got it.” She chided, leaning back in her chair. Her eyes not leaving his figure.
Paul watched her for a beat before he grinned at her, “Now you’re catching on.”
“Prick.” Sulli mumbled.
He chuckled softly, playing with the ends of her hair from where his arm rested across the back of the chair. It eased her anxiety enough to let out a breath of relief. Sulli crossed her ankle over his, interlocking the legs. The heat from his bare calf on her fabric covered leg reminded her of his promise to head back to his place. Hopefully sooner, rather than later.
“So, Sulli, how have you been? You were just a little girl the last time I saw you.” Emily asked with a bright, warm smile. She couldn't believe how naive the question was. Did they really not know how the system worked?
Sulli frowned at the question, “Fine, I guess.”
Sam asked as he sat down next to Emily, mirroring Paul's position,“Just fine?”
“Yep,” She answered tightly.
“Were your foster parents as nice as Julie said they were going to be?” Emily prodded. Clearly  she was hiding her disdain for this topic better than she thought she was.
“Emily,” Paul shook his head. At least someone could sense how uncomfortable this topic was for her. Sulli had never even mentioned anything about foster care to her. They talked about her career, and his. Sometimes school, but nothing dating back to her time in the system.
“Sorry, it's  just she had said this family was really looking forward to---”
Sulli abruptly stood up. Not wanting anything to with this conversation anymore and walked out the door. She made her way down the rickety porch and looked for a way leading back to the main road.
“Sulli!” Paul called out. Making his way down the porch and grabbing her arm gently to stop her, “Sulli, wait,”
“Let me go,” She sneered, wrenching her arm out of his hold. Sulli was starting to feel claustrophobic from all the memories she had from the yard they stood in. How happy she had been. Just to have it ripped out from under her.
Paul backed off, raising his hands in surrender, “She was just--”
Sulli interrupted him by waving him off, as she started walking further from the cottage, “I don’t care. Tell Kaycee I’ve left for me, yeah?”
“What are you going to do, walk all the way back to Forks?” He asked in disbelief, he kept up with her with ease, his long strides able to put himself ahead of her and in her way. She looked up at him in annoyance.
“I'm sure there's a bus or something.” Sulli pulled out her phone to try and figure it out.
“I’ll just drive you.” He insisted, almost pleading with her.
“No, I want to be alone.” Sulli shook her head. That was the last thing she wanted. To be stuck in a car with him while feeling the way she did.
“Sulli, we’re friends now.” He said, a small teasing smile on his face. “You can tell me anything.”
She paused mulling over what she was willing to tell him, or anyone for that matter. There wasn’t much. Sulli had opened up to Brady and look at how that turned out,  “Since Emily wants to know so bad, tell her I was only with that foster family for a week. That's how nice they were.”
Paul's eyes widened at the new information, “What? What do you mean a week?”
“There were six more after that, they were just so amazing,” Sulli continued, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
“Six?” He questioned with a frown.
She nodded,  “So I’m sorry, I have nothing nice to say nor  do I want to talk about it with the same people who put me in that situation.”
“That's not fair.” He frowned.
“Don’t you dare lecture me on what is fair.”   Sulli scowled, finally reaching the tipping point she had been heading towards since Paul had reentered her life. No amount of sex or sneaking around was going to mend the cracks they had all made in her trust, she just didn't think he would ever hurt her anymore than he had already.
Though, he was quickly proving her wrong.
“Sulli,” Brady's voice sounded from the porch, looking concerned. She looked back at Paul, whose face had changed into one of anger.
She scoffed and went for the jugular,  “You know what's not fair? Being ripped from my fucking home, only to be dropped off with the only relative I had left, who I didn't even know existed.. “
He opened his mouth to speak, but she cut him off again, “No, no, it gets better. They didn't want me either, so then I was shipped off to a home in Portland to this couple who thought they were getting a foster son. Imagine the shock on their faces when they found out Sullivan was a girl's name too.”
“Sulli,” He tried again softly. Though she can see in his eyes that he wasn’t happy. Dark, brown pools of unmistakable rage.
“I’m  not fucking finished.” She seethed,   “You see, the husband, Larry, hated me, literally hated me, Paul. So  much, that he pushed me down a flight of stairs because I talked back to him. So please, tell me what you think is fair, I would really like to know.”
Tears were streaming down her face and she hadn't even realized it. Paul reached for her, prompting Sulli to take two steps back as he sullenly said, “I would have never let that happen to you--”
“But you did.” Her voice strained as she struggled to pull herself together.
“Come on,” Brady said as he began trying to pull her away as a warning growl left Paul’s throat.
She pushed him away, “No, I’m mad at you. You’re both assholes, did you know that?”
Paul turned and walked away, heading towards the treeline. Her jaw dropped in shock as she yelled towards his shaking retreating figure,  “Yeah, leave again. You’re so fucking good at doing that!”
“Stop provoking him.” Brady spoke seriously, stepping in front of her to block her view of Paul.
“Fuck you.” She pushed at his chest, “You…you made me trust you just to fucking leave me too.”
“You know I didn’t want to.”
“But you did!” She shouted at him tearfully, “You left me!”
“Brady!” Paul shouted from the treeline, watching the two of them interact with the most anger she had witnessed from him.
The audacity for him to be mad at her for talking to Brady, after he had initially ruined their friendship. She wanted to hurt him just as he had done to her, without thinking of the repercussions, she impulsively grabbed Brady's cheeks and kissed him.
He reciprocated for a moment before pulling back, “Stop, we can’t..”
Sulli looked  back at Paul with a smug look, just as he exploded into a wolf, looking back at the two younger ones before taking off into the woods. The smugness immediately turned into guilt as she felt sick to her stomach from seeing the sad eyes of Paul's wolf.
“Fuck, Sulli!” Brady shouted, looking at her with wild eyes before back in the direction Paul had run off to.
She shrugged, trying to play it off, “He's the one trying to ruin my life, and you’re helping him.”
“He’s not trying to ruin your life.” Brady said while rolling his eyes, “He cares about you, he just wants to get to know you..”
“I had sex with him.” She said honestly, adding a small dig at Paul's expense, “He knows all that he wants to know.”
“That was quick.” He snarked.
She scowled, “wouldn’t have even happened if you didn't stab me in the fucking chest.”
Bradys anger took over anger as he forcefully said, “Yes, it would have. I know you and I know him. You two are made for eachother.”
“No, we’re not.” Sulli denied, “He doesn't really care about me. “
“He does, and you just hurt him by kissing me. Now he's going to be pissed at me too.” Brady stressed. She could see the worry in him, and it just added another knife to the collection he had left in her heart. He was more worried about Paul being mad at him than the fact that she was currently breaking down. This isn't the Brady she was friends with.
She shook her head, “Well who cares how I feel, right?”
“Sulli,” Brady called as she turned on her heel and walked towards the way she suspected was the road off of this suffocating property.
“Go, run after him.” She looked over her shoulder as she walked away, “I don’t ever want to see you again, Brady.”

girls just want to have sex

After a week of working overtime, Sullis mentor had dropped a bombshell on her. A deer had been brought in, with major blood loss and no explanation as to how. Every reason she could think of, didn’t make sense and hunters were not allowed in the area the deer was found so that ruled that explanation out.
Walking into her favourite coffee shop, she quickly ordered a latte with a triple shot of espresso. The only goal was to down enough coffee to give her enough energy to solve this riddle before her shift that evening. Walking empty handed with no solution would drive her insane, considering it could affect more deer in the area if they didn't figure it out soon.
Sulli spotted Paul as she waited for her coffee and immediately wondered if he had seen her as well.  His head was down, a pen in his hand as he worked. Even from where she stood she could see the many papers in front of him. Her mouth quirked upwards from their last conversation as she tried to guess his occupation.
She thanked the barista as they handed her, her coffee and impulsively decided to interrupt Paul and ask his opinion on her current work predicament. More so, she just wanted to talk to him again, but she would never admit that to him.
“Hey,” Paul greeted her as soon as she walked up to him.
“Hey, do you mind if I ask you a question?” Sulli asked him quietly.
“Go for it.” He nodded as he stacked all of his papers on top of each other and leaned forward on the table.
She nodded before sliding into the booth across from him, his curious eyes watched her carefully. “My friend Kaycee said you work for the state's wildlife department.” She started, adding teasingly,  “Not a gigolo like I had assumed,”
“I do.” He chuckled in response.
“Okay, um,” Sulli said as she  pulled out a folder from her bag, and took a manila folder of photos she was given by her boss at the animal clinic, “This deer was brought in the other day with major blood loss, and there were no trauma wounds except for these bite marks . Have you seen this before?”
She slid the photos across the table to him while pulling her lip between her teeth and chewing on it nervously. Her mentor and boss had never seen anything like it and had tasked her to try and figure it out before her next shift but she kept drawing up blanks. She figured Paul would be her next best bet but was too stubborn to message him. He looked at the photos and then back up at her, “Where was he found?”
“That long stretch between Forks and La Push.” She tried to explain but wasn’t sure of the street names, “He was left on the side of the road.”
“Never seen anything like it.” Paul said as he took a sip of his coffee.
“Promise?” She asked as his eyes scanned over the photos again. There was a slight look of worry that flashed through his eyes before returning to his hard exterior as he looked back up at her. Paul nodded and smiled tightly at her. She placed the photos back in their folder before putting them back in her bag, feeling dejected.
Sulli sighed as she fell back to square one with no explanation for this injured deer, “Well, thanks anyway, see ya later.”
She stood up from the booth and grabbed her coffee and bag. As she slung her bag over her shoulder and took a step away from the booth they had been sitting at together, he softly said her name,  “Sulli,”
“Yeah?” She asked, looking over her shoulder at him.
He wore a teasing grin as he shamelessly said, “You look good,”
With no hesitation, she shot two middle fingers up at him and bristled, “Still wont have sex with you.”
He let out a boyish laugh that made her heart skip a beat at the sound before jokingly saying, “I’m heartbroken.”
Sulli shook her head with a small giggle, and turned on her heel. WIth each step, a pit formed in her tummy as she began to crave the heat she had only gotten a slight hint of.
As soon as she reached her car, she leaned against it breathlessly. Out of stubbornness, she had refused herself to indulge in Pauls presence, every single time. But she was wearing thin, her pride would not get in the way in fulfilling her needs. She had tried to avoid it, sleeping with an old fling to try and diminish it but. But what she really craved was a particular wolf.
“Fuck it.” She muttered to herself, throwing her bag into the back seat of her car before marching back into the coffee shop with purpose and need. Paul's eyes shot to her as soon as she crossed through the door and wore a smirk as he watched her walk up to him. The way her hips swayed and the way she clenched and unclenched her fingers.
“You’re back.” He said with amusement as she stood at the foot of the booth he was still sitting in.
“Are you busy today?” Sulli asked as she slid into the booth, this time beside him.
“I might be.” He said tauntingly. Though his face betrayed him as his lust glazed eyes gazed down at her.
She leaned in with zero hesitation and pressed her lips to his. Paul reacted immediately by bringing his warm hand to cup her cheek, instantly moving his lips against hers with confidence. Sulli was never one for PDA, but she felt intoxicated by his presence and as she breathlessly pulled away to look at  him, all she wanted to do was kiss him again. “Still busy?”
He poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue as his eyes scanned her face, Paul's thumb stroking the cheek he held. Her eyes widened slightly as realized what she had just done, she had just kissed the man who had practically fostered her for over a month when she was eleven. Before she could say anything to make the situation seem a little less weird, he dropped his hand to her thigh giving it a soft squeeze and muttered,  “I’ll meet you outside.”
---------------
After arguing for ten minutes about who was driving, they made it back to Paul's house with Sulli behind the wheel and him as the navigator. His hand had been on her thigh the entire ride, inching up her leg with his finger toy at the inseam, as he goaded her to pay attention to the road anytime she would look in his direction.
The two of them had even made it fully through the door before they were grabbing at each other's bodies and getting lost in heated kisses. Paul had decided to pick her up from where he had caged her against the front door and walk her to the living room before setting her on the couch. Sulli pulled him down with her, the heat of skin intoxicating her senses.
She peeled off of his shirt and tossed it to the ground, wanting to see his well earned body. Paul was taller and more muscular than Brady, he towered her intimidatingly, yet she always felt safest with him. Even if she trusted Brady more, in that parking lot at the bar, she felt like she could breathe when she was arguing with Paul. She didn’t need to watch her surroundings, or be on guard for some creep lurking about. He was already doing that for her, she knew that, even if he wouldn’t say it out loud. That's what irked her about him, he doesn't know her all too well, yet he was like a little overprotective shadow.
Paul pawed at her breast over her shirt and bra as he sucked on her neck, before becoming increasingly frustrated and curled his fingers into the neckline of her shirt, Sulli muttered a soft warning, “Don’t you dare rip this.”
He scoffed as she pulled her shirt over her head and he quickly reached around with one hand and unclipped her bra. They tossed both aside and out of their way as he laid her back onto the couch, her head resting gently on the arm rest with her long hair fanned out around her.
“I can see why Brady didn't want to let you go.” He muttered as his eyes raked her body from above, moving to pull her scrub pants past her hips and she helped kick them off. She enjoyed watching him marvel at her. Sullis summer tan lines were hanging on for dear life in the Washington gloom, but a month spent in Costa Rica during the tail end of summer at a sea turtle conservancy had left her with glowing skin, and the stamp of her tiny bikini that she had paraded around the beach in.
“Do you have a crush on him or something?” Sulli asked, narrowing her eyes at him as she worked to unbuckle his belt. At this point, she thought the two wolves should be locked in a room together to air out their grievances considering how much they talk about each other while getting frisky with her.
“You know, it's hot when you talk back.” Paul remarked, swiftly pulling her panties down her thighs enough to sink two long digits in her.
She moaned in response to his deft fingers, and moved one of her hands to the back of his neck to pull him closer, “Shut up and kiss me already.”
“Bossy,” He commented with a grin before pressing his lips to hers for another heated kiss. Sulli was officially lost in the charm of Paul. Undeniably, he was the best kisser she had ever kissed. The way he melded his lips to her, nipping at her bottom lip before soothing it with his warm tongue. Everything he did, made her feel like a giddy school girl kissing her crush for the first time, and this was definitely not her first time.
“Let's make this quick, yeah? I don’t need this bullshit.” She whined and hooked her leg around his calf to try and pull  him even closer. Sulli felt like an addict trying to get a fix, his touch driving her insane. She's never felt like this in her life. Safe, secure, and wanton. She had unexplainable trust in him, that she never had with any of her flings, it took a lot for Sulli to open up to anyone. Sure, she had a lot of sex, with a lot of different men in her life, but never without telling Kaycee where she was just in case. But with Paul, she didn't feel the need to message any of her friends after impulsively letting him lead her to his house.
“I don't want to hurt you,” Paul murmured against her shoulder, as he continued to work his fingers in and out of her. His thumb pressed against her sensitive bud causing her lips to part in a gasp of pleasure.
“Are you always this full of yourself?” She asked, rocking her hips in time with his hand as he quickly began to unravel her,  “You can be rough. I can take it.”
Paul huffed, “I’m not worried about being too rough with you.”
“Too small?” Sulli asked cheekily. Though she could feel the weight of him on her thigh and knew that, that was far from the truth.
He smirked at her and turned her jab around on her, “Yeah, I do think you might be.”
“Brady fit just fine.” She said smugly.
“That doesn’t surprise me.” Paul gave her a wolfish grin as he tauntingly teased, “Gotta cut the pup some slack, he’s still growing.”
She tilted her head slightly and in the same teasing tone, Sulli said,“So you and Brady had a thing then, that's why you are so jealous.”
He shook his head with a chuckle. She was glad he didn’t have a fragile masculinity and could be so lighthearted with her, even in their current position. From what she had heard from Kaycee, he wasn’t very welcoming to her. A hard exterior with a ticking time bomb inside of him, is what she had told Sulli, which she assumed came from Collin and his tendency to gossip. He would be a great addition to girls night.
“That would be an easier explanation.” He said, bringing the hand that was working her up to his lips, maintaining eye contact with her as he sucked them clean before adding,“Clothes don't exactly stay intact when we phase with them on.”
“I want to see you do it again,” The brunette marvelled, she could see him consider her request, wetting his bottom lip with his tongue and giving her a short nod. She let out a small hum of satisfaction before pressing her lips to his collarbone.
She kissed from the base of his neck up his throat to his jaw as he huskily said, “I don’t have a condom, do you--”
“I don’t care,” She mumbled without thinking. She was always safe, safer than just her own form of birth control with any new guy. But she felt dizzy with need and didn't want to waste anymore time. Sulli kissed along his jaw to his ear, whispering, “I need you.”
Reaching between Sulli grabbed his cock, lining it up with her opening before letting him take the reins. She whimpered slightly as he pushed just the tip in. “Shit.” He said through a guttural groan, his eyes stayed on her to gauge her reaction. Sulli bit her lip as she winced, she knew he was big, maybe even the biggest she had. Definitely something for him to be cocky about, but she didn't think it was possible to be too big.
“What were you saying about foreplay?” He asked teasingly. He comfortingly smoothed his palm over her shoulder before moving it down her body to adjust his cock, trying a different approach. She was wet enough, they both knew that. Sulli had never had this issue before, and she doubted she would be able to relax enough after that shock of pain. She did not deal well with pain.
She winced again as he pushed forward a bit, “Fuck off.”
“This isn't going to work,” He mumbled, and pulled out completely. She whined about the lack of heat and arched her back towards him, chasing it. Paul chuckled, before pressing his lips to the centre of her chest all the way down her body and hooked one leg over his shoulder.
As Paul looked up at her from between her thighs, she could see the hint of a smirk on his lips before he softly said, “Tell me if I’m hurting you.”
Before she could say anything, the feeling of his wet tongue swiping through her folds had her gasping out a soft, “Oh.”
Sulli gripped the couch cushion with one hand, the other forming a tight fist and bringing it up to her mouth as his mouth expertly worked her, sucking and licking in all the right places. He inserted two fingers again, using them to stretch her more effectively than he had been before she had gotten impatient. She tightened her leg over his shoulder as she bucked her hips upwards at a particular thrust of his fingers, moaning his name as he pressed her hips back down into the couch.
It wasn’t long before he completely unravelled her, lapping up all of her juices and removing his fingers from her. Her chest heaved as her eyes fluttered shut, missing the way he sucked his fingers clean.
“You good?” He asked, running his index finger between her folds again to make sure she was slick in all the right places.
Sulli nodded lazily as she opened her eyes to look at him, she wanted to comment about the cocky aura he now had around him but couldn’t find it in her. It was well deserved considering he had managed to make her cum faster than any man she had been with before. The heat of his fingers had definitely worked in his favour.
Paul lined himself up with her entrance for the third time, pressing a soft kiss to her lips as a distraction as he pressed his length more than half way in her with one stroke.
“Wait,” She gasped out. She wasn’t in any uncomfortable pain, but she had never felt so full. So stretched. She brought a hand up to the back of his neck as he looked down concerned, her fingernails digging in slightly as he shifted his hips ever so slightly.
He nodded, a small smile forming on his lips reassuringly, “We’ve got time.,”
Paul knelt on knee on the couch beside her to keep his weight off of Sulli before reaching between them and rubbing her sensitive bud gently. He dipped his head enough to pull one of her nipples between his lips, suckling and nipping at it to bring out moans of pleasure from her lips and switching to the other, making sure they each got attention until they were rock hard. Moving her hips upwards to test the waters, she caused him to groan, “Ready?”
“Please,” She moaned with a nod and he slipped in the rest of the way with no issue.
Paul groaned as he sunk all the way into her, her walls gripping him tightly. It felt so right, in  a way that it never had with any other man. Not even Brady.
“Are you alright?” He asked softly as he dipped his head to press a light kiss to her lips before hovering, giving her a chance to answer.
“Very,” She said breathily and that was all he needed to hear before pulling out all the way to his tip, leaving her feeling empty. A feeling which caused her to whine as he took his time pressing back in. Paul chuckled softly, getting the hint and picking up the pace. His brow furrowing as he concentrated connecting their hips at an even, fast paced tempo.
Sulli reached up just as he hit her sweet spot, causing her to arch her back towards him and let out a high pitched moan. A hint of a smirk formed on his face as he continued to press at that angle, a string of moans and curse words leaving her lips as she tried to keep her focus and not completely unravel underneath him again. She brought her hand to his neck to bring his lips back down to her, muffling any moan that left either their mouths.
She could feel her self reaching her peak and muttered, “Faster,”
Paul obliged, putting one of his hands by her head resting on the armrest of the couch.
He was nearly breathless when he pulled back slightly, his forehead slick with sweat and his hair plastered to it. She carefully brushed some of the hair out of his eyes and kissed him soft on the lips, it is a gentle gesture contrasted against his relentless and rapid thrusts.
It didn't take much more to send her over the edge, crying out his name as her walls fluttered around him, pushing him tumbling towards his own bliss.
Sulli tangled her fingers in the hair on the nape of his neck as Paul's thrusts began to falter as he searched for his own high, using his one free hand to pull her hips up to switch the angle for his own needs. He placed open mouthed kisses on neck and collar bones, moaning as she squeezed around his length, the aftershocks of her own orgasm, “Want me to pull out?”
“No,” she said in a desperate moan. Sulli hooked her leg around his waist as he thrust to a hilt in her, keeping him pressed against her as he let out a low moan of her name. The older man continued to pepper kisses over her decollete before back to her lips.
With one last lingering kiss, Paul pulled back and out of her in one movement. Reaching to the floor he picked up his discarded tshirt and clinically cleaned her of their combined juices. He tossed the now dirty tshirt back to the floor like a rag.
“Satisfy your craving?” He asked, combing her now tangled hair out of her face. She hummed in satisfaction before his words clicked in her head. Sullis' eyes widened and she sat up, forcing him to do so as well.
The need she had felt for him earlier in the coffee shop could only be described in one word, desperate.
Sulli had been feeling that way since the day Brady had sent her on a wild goose chase for a car part that didn't exist and she hadn’t been able to shake the feeling away. Though she had thought she had hid it well. For Paul to tease her about made her want to crawl into a hole of embarrassment.
“How’d you-” She started, only to be cut off by him
Paul leaned back on the couch with a smirk and said, “You know, bonfires are very educational. You should come to the next one.”
“Oh, please, don’t act like you gained nothing from this.” She rolled her eyes, back to the bonfire that she didn’t want to, nor could go to even if she did. He has yet to even explain to her why the bonfire was so important that he insisted on her being there.
He chuckled in response, “Oh, yeah, I gained that you don’t have a limit to your stubbornness.”
“I’m not stubborn.” Sulli grumbled, pushing her palm against his shoulder in a soft shove. Paul gripped her wrist before she could pull it away and tugged her hard enough to fall into his chest. Her palm connected with his chest to keep her stable.
“No, not at all.” He said sarcastically as he slid his palm from her wrist, up her arm and down her naked side. Sulli swallowed a sharp gasp at the feeling, a burning sensation left on every piece of skin that he touched. She hated how her body was responding to his simple touches, like a cat purring in contentment.
She narrowed her eyes at him as she tried to push down her growing need and swung her leg over his legs to straddle him, “Sounds like you want to burn this bridge.”
He shook his head with his fingers travelling up and down her spine causing her to shiver as goosebumps rose on her skin, “Sounds like a lose-lose situation for both of us.”
“Hm?” She hummed questioningly, as she kissed along his jaw towards his ear to mockingly whisper, “Didn't you say that I could find another guy with zero issue?”
“Wouldn’t solve your problem though, would it?” He asked, tilting his head to the side slightly as he eyed her. When she didn’t respond, he paused his hand on her hip, pulling her flush against him. Paul cradled the back of neck with his other hand as he leaned down slightly to press his lips to hers softly. A small hum left the back of her throat at the feeling, his soft touch was a stark difference as to how he had handled her before.
She stopped him before they could get too far again, knowing if she didn't, she wouldn’t be leaving his place until the next day. Sulli pressed a feather light kiss to his lips and whispered, “I’ve got work soon, and I need  a shower.”
“Bagels still have rehab?” He asked, an amused sparkle in his eyes. Paul's hands ghosted over her hips and the sides of her thighs, as if to get one last intimate touch in before she set off into the sunset. Unsure if she would return.
She looked at him with confusion. She doesn't remember mentioning the dog who was hit by a car the night of the bonfire's name, “How do you know about Bagels?”
“Overheard your friend telling Colin.” He explained as he handed her, her bra that had been thrown on to the couch in their haste. She quickly clipped it on and put her arms through the straps, his eyes trained on her every movement.
She shook her head with a chuckle, of course he overheard Kaycee. “Not Bagels today. This cat named Mia, she had surgery this morning, so I’m just making sure her post op goes well tonight.”
He helped pull her scrub shirt back on, and brushed her hair out of her face after her head was through the neck hole, “What kind of cat?”
“A Scottish Fold.”She said giddily. Over the years, she had fallen in love with multiple different cats, though none took the number one spot from Bombays. Scottish Folds were a close second in her books. Sulli picked up her discarded phone and unlocked it, swiftly looking through her photo album until she found the photo she was looking for and showed Paul, “This is Mia.”
“Is your camera roll just all the animals you meet?” Paul teased as she showed him Bagels as well.
Sullis' cheeks flushed despite his teasing tone. She stood up off his lap to get her panties and scrub pants on trying to hide her rosy hue, as she said a drawn out, “Maybeee.”
She tossed him his boxers, which he slipped on with ease before standing up next to her. Looking up at him, she asked, “Want me to drop you off to get your car?”
“Nah,” He shook his head, “I’ll grab it later.”
Paul walked her to the door as she tried to ignore the growing tightness in her legs, a feeling she could get used to if he was down.  “I’ll see you later, Sulli.”
“Wait.” She said, shocking both of them, and before she could stop her feet from moving forward she wrapped her arms around his waist, mumbling, “I won't sleep with any more of your friends. I just…I like the heat.”
“I know.” He swiped her bottom lip with his thumb, looking like he wanted to kiss her again. She wanted him to, but he let her go regardless, “I’ll keep that in mind.”

“Tommy!” Sulli called out again as she made her way around the main floor for the fourth time.
She had checked every nook and cranny of her house and could not find the little bugger. The panic started to set in as she called Brady. She hadn’t spoken to him or Collin in over a month after the setup he had caused. The only reason she was calling him was because she knew he could either sniff him out or hear his little meows better than she could.
As soon as he answered, she got straight to the point, “Tommys missing and I need you to help find him.”
Brady missed a beat before mumbling, “I can’t right now, Sulli.”
Her jaw dropped at what she was hearing, “Seriously, Brady?!”
He knew how important Tommy was to her. He was practically her child at this point, she cared about Tommy more than she cared about herself. Sulli had even opened about the reason as to why she adopted him to Brady during one of the many pillowtalk sessions they had, had together and now, it seemed like he was more content in betraying her trust and faith in him than anything else.
“I’m sorry.” He said quickly, adding, “Call Paul, he’s available.”
“Fucker.” She muttered as he hung up on her. Her phone dinged almost immediately after with a text from Brady and what she assumed to be Paul's phone number. Sulli put her pride aside for the sake of Tommy and typed his number in before putting her phone to her ear.
“Hello?” He answered on the second ring and she sighed in relief.
“I got your number from Brady, he said he’s busy but I really need help.” Sulli said frantically, not caring about formalities in the slightest. Not when her baby was missing.
“Sulli?” Paul asked, worried in his voice, “What's wrong?”
“Yeah,” She confirmed, not bothering to correct him on his use of her nickname before she rambled nervously, “I can’t find Tommy. He usually lays with the plants because of the heat lamp, but he’s not there and he's not anywhere!”
“Tommy?” He asked in confusion.
“My cat!” She exclaimed shakily. First Brady brushed her off, and now Paul wasn’t taking her seriously.
“I’m sure he’s fine and just hiding.” Paul tried to reason with her.
“Fuck you!” She shouted into her phone, her fear for Tommy causing her to become unreasonably angry, “You don’t know Tommy like I do, he has a routine. Somethings wrong and if you’re not going to help me that's fine, just give me the number of someone else who can sniff him out.”
Paul's silence on his end was unnerving. Sulli could hear inaudible speaking before a door was being shut and Paul finally spoke again, “Where do you live?”
She rattled off her address without a second thought. In all honesty, she thought Brady would’ve divulged that information to him already. Maybe he has and Paul is playing coy, but in that moment, the only thing that mattered was finding Tommy and that meant Paul stepping foot into her and Kaycees home. Something she told her best friend would never, ever happen.
-----------
“Hey, is he still missing?” Paul asked as he walked up her porch to where she was waiting. Her eyes red from crying as she looked at him, the concern was evident on his face.
She nodded, tearfully saying, “I’ve checked everywhere.”
“You know, cats are very resourceful, I’m sure if you wait--” He tried to gently reason with her again.
“Don’t be a fucking jerk!” She pushed his chest, though he didn’t budge, “Tommys not like other cats, he’s only got one eye so his perceptions are off.”
“A one eyed cat, that's what I’m looking for?” He asked with a slight smirk, and she didn’t like his tone of voice. Which he quickly realised as tears filled her eyes again.
“He's a rescue, okay? He’s already been abandoned once, I’m not doing it to him again and if you don’t want to help then you can leave.” She said with a wavering voice. She knows exactly what it feels like to be abandoned, the only difference was she could deal with herself. She did deal with herself. Tommy was a little defenceless cat who depended on her.
Paul sighed, “Where was he the last time you saw him?”
Sulli grabbed his hand and led him inside to the living room, she waited impatiently as he looked around at all the art and mix of plants scattered around. “He was under the heat lamp, I think he came from somewhere warm. He doesn’t do well with the rain.” She explained, “He usually lays there until I get home from work, but he was gone today and I have to go to class soon so can you please just find him.”
“Okay, it's okay.” He said soothingly, placing his warm hand on her shoulder and giving it a light squeeze,  “Any windows open?”
“No.” Sulli shook her head.
Paul nodded and asked, “And the doors?”
“We didn’t leave anything open.” She said defensively. She was well aware of how to keep a cat indoors. Especially Tommy who loved to run for any open door when she first got him. You would have thought she was holding him hostage for how fast he was to bolt.
“So he’s still in the house.” He concluded with a cocked eyebrow.
Sulli narrowed her eyes at the gesture, “I checked everywhere, he’s not.”
“You think someone came and kidnapped him?” Paul asked amused.
Tears threatened to spill from her eyes again at the wild possibility she hadn’t even thought of, “You’re not helping.”
“Sulli,” He pulled her into him for a hug. She didn’t fight him on it, she also seemed to find comfort in the heat like her furry son, “I'm going to find him, okay?”
She nodded, “He's only two, and he's really small so just--”
“I’ve got it,” He reassured and stroked the back of her hair before stepping away from her, “Why don’t you go get ready for class, okay?”
“Okay.” She said hesitantly before ultimately leaving him to look for Tommy.
Sulli quickly made her way upstairs to her room, keeping an eye out for Tommy just in case. She beelined it for her bathroom and grimaced at her appearance, the mascara she had put on in the morning had started to run and her eyes were glassy from crying. Redoing her makeup and changing out of her scrubs from her shift that morning before making her way downstairs. She checked the living room where she had left Paul and couldn’t find him before making her way into the kitchen, figuring some caffeine would help her depleted energy.
Putting on a fresh pot before updating Kaycee on the situation, as she had been the first person she had called as soon as she realized he wasn't under the heat lamp.
“Found him.” Paul said softly from behind her, as if he would spook her.
Sulli turned fast enough to give her whiplash and looked down at Paul's arms which were cradled as he held her black cat, who had nestled himself into Paul comfortably. Her eyes lit up at the sight of her unharmed fur baby as she quickly crossed the kitchen to take him from Paul.
“Tommy!” She exclaimed happily, taking him into her arms. Sulli hugged Paul tightly with one arm, while holding Tommy in her other,  “Thank you! Where was he?”
“Your dryer vents open, I don’t know if he knocked it and got in..” Paul trailed off.
“I did. The stupid thing isn’t  working, I was trying to fix it.” She grumbled, pulling away from him to coddle Tommy lovingly. He was her favourite thing in the entire world and would have been devastated beyond belief if something had happened to him because of her own stupid mistake.
“I can fix it for you,” Paul offered, reaching out to scruff Tommys head, who purred in response and extended his neck to follow his hand as Paul pulled it away.
“Really?” She asked, shocked at the gesture.
Paul shrugged, “Yeah, it’ll only take a few minutes.”
“Thank you.” Sulli said softly before shyly asking, “Can you show me?”
She liked to be independent when it came to things like this and often used the internet as her source of information. She didn't exactly have anyone to teach her, and if Paul was going to do it anyways, she might as well learn.
Sulli followed him to the laundry room after putting Tommy back under his lamp. She watched from the doorway as Paul knelt by the dryer vent and mentioned as he helped up the hose that she had yanked off, “I don’t know how you managed to get it off completely…”
“I watched a youtube video.” She said honestly. It wasn't in english but it seemed simple enough.
Paul chuckled and looked back at her over his shoulder, “Maybe next time call someone,”
“Why? Cause I’m a woman?” She asked defensively, crossing her arms over her chest.
“No,” He said with annoyance, “Because I don't want you to get hurt.”
“Fine. I’ll call you.” She sarcastically said she was curious as to what his actual day job was.   She knew he worked some type of shift work, allegedly, and he was confident in fixing her dryer, “Are you like a handyman or something?”
“No,” He shook his head as he focused back on the task at hand. “I’m not that exciting.”
“A gigolo?” She teased him for his air of mystery around his job,  “Like Magic Mike?”
“Are you even old enough to know what that is?” He jabbed jokingly.
“I’m twenty-two, not twelve.” Sulli muttered, not impressed by the age joke, “Besides, it's a movie, not porn.”
“Twenty twos old enough to know about porn too.” Paul pointed out.
She smirked and noted, “I’m well aware.”
“Yeah?” He hummed questioningly, more so focused on the vents seam as he secured it back on.
Sulli nodded, even though he couldn’t see her, “Mhm. Gotta now that Brady is no longer in the picture.”
“You’ll have no problem finding another guy to get your hands on, Sulli.” Paul brooded.
“That's not my problem.” Sulli mumbled. Sure, she could find a guy with no issue, she never had any. What she wouldn’t be able to find is a guy who radiated 103 degree heat off of his skin. Brady was a lost cause, and her recurring dreams about Paul weren’t enough to satiate her craving. If it didn’t go away soon, she’d have to find a bigger heat lamp to share with Tommy.
“All fixed.” He announced, standing up and wiping his hands on his pants. He looked down at her with a slight smirk before asking,  “Any other problems you want me to solve?”
Sulli could feel the heat radiating off of his body at his close proximity and her breath hitched in the back of her throat. He could fix so many of her physical problems that Brady had left in her. The tension between them hung thick in the air as flashes of him fucking her on top of the dryer flood her in mind and salivated her mouth in want.
Pull yourself together, Sulli, she thought to herself. She promised Kaycee and her that she would not fall for his entitlement.  No matter how hot he was. He wasn’t the same Paul she remembered from when she was eleven. Not that she would necessarily fuck that version of him either, they way he was now was more her speed but his weird manifesto directed towards her was off putting.
She belonged to no one but herself.
Sulli cleared her throat and asked, “Do you want some coffee?”
His face shifted from cocky to conflicted at her offer before shaking his head, “I’d love to, but I’ve got to get back to work.”
“Wolf stuff?” She asked curiously. Sulli would be lying if she didn’t want to know more. There had to be a reason why he was able to do what he could, why there was a whole pack of men living what everyone thought to be a young adult tv trope fantasy in reality.
He shook his head again with a chuckle, “My real job.”
“Oh, Brady said you were available…I didn't know..” She trailed off. She wouldn't have called him if she had known he was at work.
“It’s okay. It was an emergency.” He reassured her, his tongue darting out to wet his lower lip as he watched her fidget with her hair and flick it over her shoulder.
“Well the offer won’t expire.” She told him with a small smile, politely telling him “You’ve got my number.”
She wanted him to use it. Whether to educate her on his deepest secret or for a simple booty call, Sulli did not know. At this point, she was so desperate to feel that heat again she wouldn’t deny either option.

“Great idea, Pup!” Paul shouted as he walked into Sam's cottage after Sulli had stormed out of his house. His phone now shattered along with a broken TV as his emotions had gotten the best of him. He had launched his phone hard enough to have a phone shaped hole it the tv, before he had stormed out himself in search of Brady.
“I gave you an opportunity to fix things with her, if you fucked it up its not my fault!” Brady shouted back. Clearly the boost of confidence Sulli had given him had stuck.
“You could have warned me!” Paul yelled, his anger getting the best of him, “You know what she said, she said that she hates both of us now and that's on you and your stupidity!”
“Wait, what?” Brady asked with wide eyes. Paul sneered at him, before he could grab a hold of the pup, Kim stood between them.
“Paul, leave him alone.” Kim turned to Jared who had sat quietly at the table, watching the scene unfold. “Jared, you can't just let him beat up Brady like this!”
“Go patrol.” Paul shoved Brady towards the door.
“You need to get yourself together, Paul. Her friend warned you and you completely ignored it. Why are you so surprised she's upset?” Kim snapped as she gave Brady a comforting smile as he headed for the door.
“I didn't do anything, this was all the kid!” He exclaimed. Brady had fucked up this time, not him.
Kim scoffed at his response, “No? Did you apologise to her for ruining her friendship? Did you apologise for not sending her anything to let her know you were thinking of her?”
“You know I had no idea where she was,” He said through gritted teeth. Jared and Sam had helped search for her, the three of them had covered almost every inch of Washington to try and catch a scent. But they always came up short.
“Doesn't matter, she's hurt by you.” Kim said as if it was obvious.
Paul narrowed his eyes at his friend's imprint, he knew better than to explode at her, but she was crossing a very thin line of patience he had when it came to his own imprint, “I know she is! I feel it every fucking day!”
“So apologize, explain it to her. Sulli is not eleven anymore. She's a grown woman and you're toying with her life.” Kim said with annoyance.  As if it was that easy. The amount of times he had awoken in the middle of the night from the imprint bond, from a physical pain he could never quite explain. Or double over from a sharp stitch in his side, or a lingering feeling of fear that wasn't his own. No matter what he did, or where he went in the state of Washington to look for  her, nothing could dull those feelings. It was like that social worker that picked her up dropped her off the face of the earth.
“No--” He started, only to be cut off.
“At the bar, you made Brady cut her off and you watched with a smug little smile on your face. When in reality, you should’ve walked your arrogant butt over to her like you do to every other woman and charmed her yourself. Maybe then she wouldn’t have dragged the next guy she could find to the bathroom. Have you ever thought of that?”
“What are you? The Sulli Whisperer?” Paul quipped, leaning back in his chair with a scowl on his face. He had in fact thought about walking up to her that night to be that new option to quench her need after Brady had cut ties with her. But as soon as Sulli had laid eyes on him, he could feel her anger. He could deal with the fact that she was angry with him, what he couldn’t deal with was the underlying feeling of pain. Paul knew he had caused it and it made him sick to his stomach.
So he watched her talk to some man that looked out of her league before dragging him to the bathroom. He stayed until their escapade was done, listening to every moan and groan until he couldn't take it anymore and decided to wait outside for her. He wasn't leaving that bar until she was on her way home herself. He hoped she would be alone, if she wasn't, he had asked Brady to intervene and make sure she did leave alone. It was a purely selfish move, but he wanted to make sure she was safe and sound wherever home was for her.
Kim acting like he knew what was best for his imprint was sparking a light inside of him that he knew he had to diminish before a fire started in him. He's blown up before on the topic of Sulli, and Sam had warned him. It felt like he was back to square one, a young pup he couldn't control his emotions.
“No, I’m a woman.” Kim said harshly before standing up from the table, “Let's go, Jared. If he wants to self-destruct, that's his issue. I’m tired of hearing about it.”
-----
“She’s here to take you to a nice foster family.” Sue said gently, as she explained why the mean old social worker who had dropped her off at her aunt's house over a month ago had come back.
Sulli started to hyperventilate at what Sue was telling her and was on the verge of bolting out the backdoor. That was her plan as she tried to wrench herself out of Sue's hug. Despite the fact that her aunt was only trying to comfort her, she only wanted to get away. If they couldn't find her, she didn't have to go.
She noticed Paul as soon as he walked in the door, his eyes frantic until they landed on her.  Sulli carefully avoided the social worker's reach, and crawled under the kitchen table to get to him.
“Please, I’ll be good. I don't wanna go!” She cried, holding on to Paul's legs tightly.
“Sulli,” He started, crouching down to her level. She quickly wrapped her arms around his neck in a suffocating hug.
“Please, please!” She begged him. She didn't want to leave. She didn't even know where she was going!
Her social worker, Julie, interrupted them, “Time to go to your new family, Sulli.”
“No!” She screamed in fear, gripping Paul's shirt with her tiny fists as the social worker tried to pry her out of Paul's arms. She watched with tears in her eyes as Paul narrowed his and swatted Julie's hands away from Sulli.
“That's not helping,” He said roughly to the annoyed social worker. He wrapped his arm around Sullis waist and picked her up with ease, sitting her on the table. He wiped the tear gently from her cheeks and gave her a soft smile.
“I wanna stay with you.” She begged Paul again, “Please, I don’t want to go.”
“It’s going to be okay, you’re gonna be okay. I’m sure this family will be nice.” He said as he rubbed her back comfortingly. He was so sure and that helped ease her nerves slightly. Though she still didn’t want to go. She was having so much fun with them. Leah had taught her how to jump rope, and Seth taught her about the Quileute histories. Paul even promised to take her to a football game after the few they had watched together. He even taught her how to catch a football.
“But I want to stay with you.” Her lip quivered as tears filled her eyes again. Nothing about this felt right to the eleven year old girl. Sulli still didn't know where her mom was and Sue had even gone to the lengths of getting in touch with her father to see if he knew where she had gone. Now she was being torn away from the only other family she had, and they were just letting it happen.
Paul held her to him, combing his fingers through her hair as he soothed her anxiety, “You just have to go for a little while, then you’ll be back, okay?”
“Can you come too?” She mumbled into his chest.
“I wish I could, Sulli.” He said honestly as he pulled back, placing his hands on her shoulders as he bent to look her directly in the eyes,   “I’ll visit, okay?”
“Promise?” She asked warily.
He nodded, and pressed a kiss to her forehead, quietly telling her, “I promise, you don’t need to worry about anything, alright? It’s only for a little while.”
The old memory distracted her as she walked out of the exam room to drop off her clipboard to be logged. It was all that had been on her mind since the day before, seeing that Paul had kept the photo of the two of them had sparked something in her and now, he plagued her mind.
Every single memory hit her like a mack truck, good and bad.
She nearly bumped into someone while looking down at her clipboard, double checking to see if she had missed anything.. She felt their warm hands steady her and her head shot up to see who she had nearly crashed into. Paul, with that stupid smirk on his face, held her steady as she tried not to glare at him.
“Sorry.”  She mumbled, side stepping past him to put her clipboard onto the receptionist's desk before turning back to him and mustering her best customer service smile, “Can I help you?
“Relax, I’m just picking something up.” He said with a slight chuckle at her uncomfortableness, “Brady get his car fixed?”
“Dunno.” She shrugged him off, trying not look at him.   “I haven't spoken to him.”
“Been busy at the bar?” He asked awkwardly, causing her to look at him with wide eyes.
“Is that your way of calling me a whore?” She asked with a scoff. Her eyes narrowed up at him, the audacity he had to ask her that. As if he didn't just upend her entire life.
“What? No.” He backtracked, a look of regret crossing his face, “Fuck, no. I just--”
“Sulli, Poppys ready for you..” The vet tech let her know before turning to Paul, “Oh, Mr. Lahote, Dr. Gray will be with you in a minute.”
“You’re a doctor?”  Paul looked at her with wide eyes. Instantly, she was offended. It was the first time someone had questioned her choice of career, but for some reason, Paul looking at her with a shocked expression hurt.
She only had one more semester of school left before she began her residency, she was quite young compared to her classmates having been able to fast track into vet school and everyone spoke to her as if she were a child. She hated it, considering she wasn’t treated like she was one when she was actually a kid.
“I have to go.” She said with the roll of her eyes and pushing past him into her next room.
------
Sulli was glad to not see Paul after dealing with Poppy the pomeranian and quickly made her way to her car. She wanted nothing more than to cuddle with Tommy and watch Love Island with a glass of wine.
The sound of her name quickly interrupted that fantasy as she heard her name being called from behind her. She looked over shoulder and saw the tall, muscular man who had a knack for offending her taking long strides towards her.
She let out an exasperated sigh and opened the back door to her car and threw in her bag and jacket.
“Sullivan!” Paul called after Sulli as he jogged up to her, “That wasn’t what I meant.”
She pursed her lips and turned to look up at him, “That's what it sounded like.”
“I just meant that you seem like you like to have a good time. You know, work hard, play harder.” He explained, though it didn't make her feel any better.
“You sound like a fumbling idiot.” Sulli narrowed her eyes at him, not amused by his choice of words.
“I think that's the nicest thing you’ve said to me.” He told her seriously.
She let out a genuine laugh,  “You’re ridiculous.”
“Got you to smile though.” He cheesed.
Butterflies erupted in her belly and just hoped her cheeks didn't betray her by turning bright red. She brushed her hair behind her ear, not knowing what to say next. She had two options, tell him to fuck off and leave her alone or pull him into her car and quell the throbbing between her legs.
The latter would be more satisfying in her opinion. His tight black shirt left little to the imagination of what was underneath, she could practically see his muscles flexing and the hardness of the abs she had seen with her own eyes the day before. She felt like a drooling dog.
His own smile wavers, “I’m sorry I never sent a letter or um, visited you like I promised. Julie wouldn’t tell us where you were.”
“Don’t do this.” She shook her head with a frown. Clearly he was keen on ruining every conversation they had.
“I just need you to know that I tried, okay?” Paul said desperately.
“Okay,” She breathed out, “But it doesn't change anything.”
“I really had no idea what Brady was doing, I still don’t understand what his plan was and I’m sorry, it's complicated.” He explained apologetically. The regret was clear in his eyes for how everything panned out the other day.
“Complicated.” She repeated slowly. Sulli didn't understand why she had been dragged into it.
Paul hesitated in speaking before muttering, “A wolf thing.”
“Right.” She nodded trying not to get annoyed by the vague answer he gave her. She knew the pack's secret was a secret for a reason, adding “Not something I’m entitled to knowing. I get it, just, keep me out of it.”
“It’s not that easy, Sulli, sorry, Sullivan.” He corrected himself “ There's a reason I told you our secret, just like your friend gets to know.”
“Why does she get to know?” She asked, trying to keep an even tone. Kaycee never mentioned why Colin told her, but now Paul was standing her telling her there's a reason for it all.
“Bonfires aren’t just about roasting marshmallows in La Push.” Paul joked.
“Fine, I’ll just ask her myself.” She said with a huff.
“I’ll tell you,” He said quickly as he leaned her arm against her car, “But it isn’t exactly a conversation I’d like to have in a parking lot.”
Sulli watched him curiously, “You tryna kidnap me, Paul?”
“No. I think taming a lion would be easier than getting you into a car.” Paul said with a teasing smile,  “Or out of one. Though I don't think you’d fit under a car anymore.”
“First of all, Julie was a bitch.” She pointed out. She was the social worker from hell, putting zero effort into the homes she was placed in and never letting her communicate with her parents. Or at least her father.
“Yeah, I know she was.”  He agreed and that sparked a fire in her belly. Paul was agreeing with her yet, he did nothing to stop her being taken away from them. From him.
Sulli crossed her arms as she tried to contain her budding annoyance, “Paul, I’d get into a car with you if it meant I’d finally get some honesty around here.”
“Without fucking an Uber driver?” He asked jokingly, referring to her comment the night she had first spotted him, “I mean, I could always sign up to be one if that would quench your kink.”
“I tend not to have sex with guys who can’t control their jealousy. You were so blinded by it you didn’t even see your shot.” Sulli shrugged.
“At the bar?” He asked with a cocked eyebrow. She wanted to laugh. No, not at the bar. Not even close. All she had felt that night was rage because of Brady and him and stupid smug look on his face. Even when she had fucked that blonde in the bathroom, all she thought about was him.
“At your house.” She said nonchalantly as she opened her car door. If he had grabbed her and kissed her like he had in her reoccurring dream, she wouldn't have stopped him. She would have let him bruise her lips until they were both gasping for breath and clawing each other's clothes off. She would have been putty in the palm of his warm hands.
Paul put his hand on the frame of the door,  trapping her between him and the car. Heat continued to pool between her legs, and the feeling only intensified as he huskily said, “Honestly, I thought I was dreaming having you show up on my doorstep. It’ll be different next time.”
She asked confused, “Next time?”
“Yeah, I think that lucky shell is starting to work,” Paul said with a crooked smile. A feeling of realisation hit her hard. Back when she was eleven, Sulli had been shell picking at the beach with Leah, Sue's daughter.  The shell she had found at the beach was quirky and unique, she had made up a tale that it was lucky and gave it to him. Prior to her beach visit, Paulhad given her a dream catcher because she was having nightmares and because he wanted her to have good dreams, she wanted him to have something good too. She was surprised he still remembered it.
A gust of wind blew Sullis' hair into her face causing her to giggle as she tried to shake it away from her eyes. Paul didn’t hesitate to gently brush it back behind her ears with both hands. His thumbs grazed her jaw and she let him keep his hands on her face until he reluctantly dropped them. She wanted him to kiss her, that fairytale, only in the movie type of kiss that would have her knees weak.
But he didn’t, which disappointed her more than she wanted it to.
Paul licked his bottom lip before mumbling, “I’ve got to get back to work, but I’m sure I’ll see you around.”
She tilted her head to the side slightly as she looked up at him, “I don’t doubt it.”
Sulli watched him walk away and wanted to follow after him, She scolded herself for even thinking about it. It was obvious he wasn't into her like that after he had dodged a second opportunity to kiss her. If he wanted to, he would have. It was clear that the reason he didn't want Brady around her was more of a power trip than anything else.
Paul looked over his shoulder as he had reached his truck, giving her a small smile. She shook her head as the butterflies returned to her belly, with her own smile gracing her face.
This was not good.

The Great War
Tumblr media
"Sulli!" He called after her, "Sulli, wait!"
She rolled her eyes and pushed the door open, walking into the empty parking lot. Sulli searched her purse for her keys, giving him enough time to catch up to her, "I'm sorry," Paul breathed out.
"That's it?" She scoffed, "That's pathetic, Paul."
He ruined her night and all he had to say for it was a simple apology, she wanted to laugh in his face. He opened his mouth to speak, but she cut him off, "If I forgave every single person that has been in my life simply because they said 'sorry', I'd probably be dead by now."
Paul's eyes widened as flickers of different emotions ran through his dark brown eyes, "Okay, how about, I’m sorry I ruined your night with that fucking loser, fuck me instead."
She smirked at his boldness, and gestured to the only other car in the parking lot, "That's your truck?"
"Yeah," He nodded.
She raised her eyebrow before asking, "How many girls have you fucked in it,"
He hesitated and then answered, "None."
"You hesitated," Sulli was quick to point out. From what she’s heard from Colin and Brady, Paul gets around just as much as she did. If she were to take a black light to his truck, who knows what she would find.  She nearly gagged in disgust at the thought.
Now he was the one smirking, "I’ve never fucked a  girl inside the truck."
"You prefer the cab, don't you?" She asked mockingly.
"More space." Paul shrugged.
"Hm." She hummed, before she questioned,  "Why should I fuck you? What makes you better than any guy in that bar?"
"That ache you feel, you know the one thats most prominent after you've fucked somebody and you should feel satisfied but you dont? You feel like somethings missing, and no matter how many time you fuck somebody its still going to be there, like a craving," Paul said lowly, before leaning down to whisper in her ear, "I can fix that."
"I don't know what youre talking about." She lied. She knew exactly what he was talking about, it nagged at her daily. Like she was uncomfortable with her own body's temperature and could never find enough heat, no matter how many layers she wore or how hot and heavy she got with a fling.
Brady helped. He was like a walking heating pad that she could lay with and and feel somewhat at peace.
"You liked having Brady in your back pocket because something about him dulled that ache just enough that you could ignore it." Paul said, as if he could read her mind, "His warmth, his strength, all of it enticed you, but it wasn't enough, was it?"
Sullis mind was whirling with emotions, everything he was saying made sense. He was everything that Brady was, but more. Warmer, stronger, older. Paul knew what he wanted, and how to get it. She wouldn't have been shocked if he was the one who had taught Brady how to charm girls too.
A throb between her legs betrayed her as she thought about what Paul would be like in bed. Brady was good, but not experienced enough to really give her what she wanted. Paul, he knows what he’s doing, it's obvious, just from one glance at his dark persona. He's cocky, and suave in the way that leaves no doubt in his abilities. Had he always been like this?
"You want me just as much as I want you, I can smell it.” She let him slip his hand into the waistband of her jeans, past her panties. A trail of heat left on every surface of skin that he touched as he stroked between her folds, causing her to moan, “Soaked already.”
Sulli gripped his wrist, looking up at the man whose dark eyes were laser focused on her own, "This is a one time thing, got it?"
The side of his mouth pulled upwards in a half smirk, "Whatever you say, babygirl."
“Fucking hell.” Sulli groaned  as she was jolted awake by the sound of her phone. She grimaced tiredly as she patted around her nightstand for her phone. She would never admit to having a sex dream about Paul, but she really wanted to see where it was going. She was curious as a cat to see what dream Paul was like in bed, given that it had been over two weeks since she had heard from Brady, leaving her in an unwanted celibacy.
It took her a minute to realise it wasn’t her alarm sounding off, but her ringtone, Bradys ringtone that she had set up for him.
The Scooby Doo theme song.
He had referred to their little group of friends as the Mystery Gang after they had watched the live action movie, and she had teased him about which member he was of the group.
Grabbing her phone off of the charger, she hit the answer button before pressing the phone to her ear and laying back in her bed with her eyes closed, “What?!”
“Good Morning to you too, sunshine,” Brady chirped.
Sulli rubbed the sleep from her eyes before opening them and staring at the ceiling, “Goodmorning, Brady. If this isn’t an early morning booty call, I'll be very disappointed.”
“Nah, not this time.” He laughed before telling her, “I need a favour.”
“Ask Collin.” She brooded. She could tell from the light shining through her curtains that it was still early
Brady paused before answering, “He's busy.”
“Ugh, fine.”  She reluctantly agreed.
“I’ve got a flat tire and a friend of mine has a jack.” He explained, and she was confused on why he was calling her for this.
“Okay, I don't know how to change a tire and who is Jack?” She asked, too tired to care or make sense of what he was saying.
“Jack is the tool I need.” He chuckled, “Can you pick it up for me?”
Sulli sighed, “Yeah, just send me the address.”
“Thanks, babe. I owe you.” She could practically hear the grin on his face through the phone.
She hummed in response, before playfully saying, “I can think of a few ways you can make it up to me.”
“I’ve got a patrol tonight…” He trailed off and she groaned in response.
“I’m going to combust, Bray.” She muttered. She was the type to wait around for a guy, especially one she wasn’t even really committed to.
Sulli could hear the commotion on his end and furrowed her eyebrows as he swore under his breath and what sounded like a door slammed. With a rushed breath, he said, “I promise, I’ll make it up to you soon. I gotta go now, Sulli. I’ll send you the address.”
“Talk to you later.” She mumbled before hanging up and falling back onto her pillow again.
--------
Knocking gently on the door to the address Brady had sent her. She was confused as to why he couldn't have picked up the tool himself given that the home wasn't far off from his own on the reserve. It was a farther drive for her than it was a walk for him, especially given that he had the ability to transform into a four legged animal.
“You have got to be fucking kidding me.” Sulli muttered as Paul answered the door. Shirtless, sweatpants hung low on his hips. Real low. Her stomach tightened as the feelings from her dream resurfaced. Paul was hot, she would never deny that but even if he hadn’t broken her trust as a child, it was very clear that he was a douchebag just from the way he treats Brady.
“Nice to see you too.” He smirked, his eyes looking over her body. She would’ve stormed off at the gesture, but his eyes held no sexual need, only slight concern despite what his body language was currently giving off, “What can I do for you?”
“Do you have Brady's thing or not?” Sulli huffed. He knew why she was here, Brady had said that he would let this friend know she was stopping by. White, hot anger flashed through her nervous system at the thought that Brady had played her just like Paul had wanted him to.
“What?” He asked, his eyebrows creasing.
“He said he gave you something for his car,” She explained slowly, not exactly sure what she was actually looking for,  “For the tires.”
Paul leaned against the doorframe, his muscles shifting as he did, causing Sullis' focus to shift. His mouth pulled upwards in a half smile as he realized she was checking him out and he cockily said, “He didn’t give me anything.”
She glared at him in annoyance. More so annoyed at herself for falling for this trick and being pulled into his charm.  Sulli impatiently asked, “He told me you knew I was coming to get whatever it's called. He's got a flat tire and something about Jack?”
“Well, fuck, Sulli. The kid doesnt shut up, and you just decided to waltz up to my door with no clue of what you're actually looking for.” Paul muttered, equally as annoyed, “I was asleep, let me check my fucking messages, alright?”
“It's the middle of the day.” She pointed out.
His eyes widened in mock surprise, before he quipped, “Have you ever heard of shift work?”
“Prick.” Sulli mumbled.
“Come inside, it’s fucking cold out.” He said, clenching his jaw as he stepped out of the way.
“No.” She spoke firmly, crossing her arms. She was not going to be lured into his home. Not when he looked this good and she was still reeling after her almost wet dream about him.
“Sulli.” He started in aggravation.
She huffed, before sticking to her guns, “Sullivan to you.”
“Fine, Sullivan,” He said, but it sounded so wrong, “Inside and I’ll grab that thing you’re looking for.”
“God, you are so annoying.” Sulli exclaimed, adding, “Have you always been this annoying?”
Paul muttered something under his breath as she crossed the threshold and into his house. Sulli followed him into the living room, where sports highlights played on the small tv. A blanket and throw pillow messily placed on the couch, clearly indicating where he had been sleeping.
She couldn't help but notice how clean his house was, or from what she could see. Just like Colin and Bradys.
“Gimme a sec, my phone is upstairs.” He mumbled, walking past her towards the staircase just off the living room.
She didn't respond, and instead looked around noisily. From what she could remember, Paul had seemed nice. At least nicer than most, when she was eleven. He was the only person she felt comfortable around and stuck to his side throughout her stay.
Now, he was like a jaded edge. Happy and relieved to see her one second, angry and annoyed the next.
She was getting whiplash from it all.
A familiar photo frame sat on the tv stand, and the closer she got the less she could hide her budding smile.
It was a photo she had gifted him for Christmas. The two of them smiling at the camera as they sat on a log at First Beach. She had decorated the frame, adding their names to the bottom, though the U from her name was missing.
She doesn't have any photos from when she was a kid, none of her foster parents cared enough to document anything for her and the stuff she left behind at her moms house, well, who knows where that went.
She picked the frame up just as he walked back into the room and glanced at him, mumbling quietly, “You look exactly the same.”
“We age a lot slower,” He said, his eyes flitting towards the frame before down to his phone in his hands, “Or so I’m told.”
“It's a wolf thing?” She asked, “Like the fever?”
Paul nodded absentmindedly, “Yeah,”
“You’re lucky.” Sulli said, putting the frame back down, “I’m always cold.”
“I’m sure Brady helps.” He said bitterly and the feeling of anger that had subsided was now back.
She crossed her arms over her chest defensively before asking, “Why are you so pressed about that?”
“If you had bothered to show up to the bonfire, you would know.” He shot back at her, a look of fire in his eyes.
“Fuck you,” She scoffed, “Not that its any of your business, but I had to work.”
“Yeah, I bet you had to.” Paul said sarcastically as he stepped in her direction. He towered over her small frame though he didn't intimidate her. If anything, this was the safest she's felt since she was a child.
Though that didn’t stop the anger she felt towards him, “What the fuck are you talking about?!”
“Brady said you picked up an extra shift that night.”
“A dog was hit by a car, so, I’m sorry that I decided to stay to try and help him rather than going to some stupid bonfire.” She explained bitterly, trying to swallow the lump that had formed in her throat.
“I didn’t know that part.” He paused, the look of fire in his eyes dissipating into her concern,  “Is he okay?”
“Depends on your definition of okay.” She muttered avoiding his gaze, “His hind legs are paralyzed.”
Paul frowned, “Are you okay?”
“How’s Rachel?” She switched the subject quickly. Sulli didn't want to feel vulnerable around him, and if they kept in the direction they were going tears would soon follow.
“I’m gonna kill that kid.” He said in disbelief at the mention of his own fling.
“What? You can fuck your friend's sister but Brady is not allowed to even go near me?” She asked, putting her hands on her hips with a cocked eyebrow, “You don’t know me, Paul. You are just some guy I knew for a month when I was eleven!”
“It’s not that simple, Sul-” He paused, taking a deep breath before stating, “Brady knows that.”
Sulli shook her head, “You’re still a hypocrite.”
“And your fuck buddy is a liar.” He jabbed, a smug look overtaking his previous lack of composure, “He never messaged me about anything for his car.”
Sullis' eyes widened at his words and she stepped towards him close enough for their arms to brush, quickly saying, “Let me see.”
Paul wavered, clicking the screen dark as she peered at his phone. Sulli straightened her spine at the action, looking up at him with a heated gaze. Somebody was fucking with her and she wanted to know if it was the older man in front of her, or Brady, the baby wolf with no backbone.
“Paul!” She shouted at him, as the feeling of betrayal pumped through her.
His eyes narrowed at her as a complex look marred his face. With a curt nod, he unlocked his phone. He tongue swiped over his bottom lip as he handed her his phone. A simple text of ‘you’re welcome’ was the only thing sent that day by Brady. She had been played by Brady.
“That fucking--”Sulli stopped herself from imploding in front of Paul, instead she handed back his phone. With a deep breath and a fake smile, she apologized, “I’m sorry for interrupting your sleep schedule, won’t happen again.”
“Hey,” He said softly, placing a warm hand on her bare arm.
“Don’t touch me.” She jerked back, snapping, “Are you happy now?”
Paul let his hand drop back to his side, looking at her with confusion, “What are you talking about?”
“Brady was willing to fuck me over for you, isnt that what you wanted?” She spat.
“I never wanted to upset you, but Brady crossed a line and if this is how he tried to fix things, then I dont what to tell you.” He shrugged off her anger.
“Well, guess what, now I hate both of you.” Sulli seethed and pushed past him. Not looking back as she heatedly said, “Have a nice fucking day.”
She made a haste exit, heading for her car wanting nothing more to leave the reservation and never return.
“Fuck!” Sounded from in the house, followed by a crash had her stutter step, a pang of worry sent through her body before she remembered that Paul was the reason for this mess with Brady to begin with and that alone kept her feet moving to her car.

“I’m going to kill him, where is he?” Paul said as soon as he found Jared in the Clearwaters backyard. He had been itching all day to have a go at Brady. Paul had been away with Sam on a long haul patrol when Jared had found him shacked up with Sulli after he had told him to leave her alone. As if he was going to let that slide.
“You can’t do that.” Jared reasoned, “Think about Sulli, man. They are friends. Collin imprinted on her best friend, you’re going to upset her if she finds out you kicked his ass. That does you no favours in getting to know her.”
“I wasn't aware friends sleep naked in bed together.” Paul said sarcastically., the visuals Jared had shared seeping into his mind.
“Well there's that.” Jared agreed, before calmly mentioning, “But dude, from what I’ve seen, she is in to him”
“And he should have put an end to it instead of going back to her. He knows, she doesn’t.” Paul argued. It wasn't like it was still some big secret within the pack. Everyone knows and he was going to have to tell Sulli eventually, he just needed Brady to back off.
“You haven’t exactly reached out to her.” His friend pointed out.
Paul scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest, “She doesn't want anything to do with me, she made that very clear.”
“You know that will change,” Jared said reassuringly, though it did not help in the slightest. Jared nudged Paul with his elbow, “Look.”
Paul turned around and instantly knew what he was looking for. Collins' car had pulled up, and out stepped the newcomer, Kaycee, and Collin. Brady got out alone from the back of the car and Paul couldn't stop the low rumble that came from his chest.
Sulli wasn’t with them.
“Brady!” Jared shouted, waving him over. The two older boys watched as he looked over at them, before jogging towards them.
“Be cool, dude,” Jared warned as the younger wolf stopped in front of them.
“What's up?” Brady asked.
“Where's Sulli?” Paul countered, clamping his hand down on his shoulder to keep him in place.
“Work.” He said, and Paul knew he was telling the truth from his steady heartbeat, “I tried man, she picked up an extra shift.”
Paul's fingers tightened on Bradys shoulder as he asked calmly, “Was this before or after you slept with her after I told you not to?”
“Oh, fuck off, you should be thanking me.” Brady announced, shaking off the older wolf's hand with a confidence neither Paul or Jared had seen before in the pup.
Paul looked at him with skepticism, “Thanking you? What for?”
“Keeping your imprint happy.” He gloated.
“Listen to me very carefully, the next time she messages you for help, you direct her to me. I don’t care what it is.” Paul said forcefully, pointing his finger into his chest for emphasis on just how serious he was, “And don’t fucking touch her again.”
Brady rolled his eyes in defiance, “Sulli does what Sulli wants and she wants me, not you.”
“You want to act like a tough guy, huh?” Paul chuckled at the stupidity of the kid before him, “The only reason she wants you is because she wants to piss me off.”
“Keep telling yourself that, I’ve been sleeping with her for the past five months. You weren't the reason then, and you aren’t now.” Brady said, stepping up to Paul. Jared let out a small laugh at the gesture. All three of them were aware of the power imbalance, and the fact that Brady was challenging him about his imprint, just made him angrier.
“Now is not the time, gentlemen” Sam said roughly, stepping between the two men before a fight broke out. He looked at the young wolf, “Brady, go help Sue.” Brady was quick to listen to the older wolf, as Sam looked between Paul and Jared, "You two, knock it off.”
--------
“This is Paul.” Collin introduced his imprint, though Paul knows all about her from his incessant thoughts. “Sulli knows him too.”
“Hey,” He smiled as much as he could force himself to, “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Wish I could say the same about you, I didn't even know you existed until I picked Sulli up from the bar a couple weeks ago.” Kaycee looked at Collin  with furrowed brows before looking back at Paul. “I don’t even know how she knows you, to be honest.”
“She stayed with the Clearwaters a bit when she was eleven.” Paul said with an even tone. “ Sues her aunt.”
“If she’s her aunt, why did she go into foster care?” She asked curiously, this was something Sulli must not have opened up about. He wasn't shocked.
“The Clearwaters didn’t exactly have a choice. They tried to get her back but uh, nothing worked out.” Paul explained, it's not like he wanted her to be taken from them. Far from that, if he could go back in time he would have fought hard. He would have refused to let her social worker pry her from his arms after she had ran to him to keep her safe.
It haunts him every night.
Kaycee scoffed, “I’m sorry if this is insensitive, but um, to my knowledge, which is extensive considering Sulli is my best friend, not even a letter was sent to her.”
“We didn’t know--” He started, only to be cut off by the petite girl who was showing just how far she would go to bat for his imprint.
While he was on the receiving end of the jabs, he was glad Sulli had Kaycee.
“Her dad sends her stuff all the time. Every holiday, birthday, even just to let her know he’s thinking about her. She’s got a whole box of them.” She explained. Paul's eyes widened at the fact, knowing exactly where her father was, only for it to be confirmed by Kaycee, “I mean, he’s in prison and he figured it out!”
“Kay,” Collin shook his head as Paul clenched his fists.
His newfound imprint looked at Paul, taking in his tense frame before looking back at her boyfriend, “Sorry, I just think it's weird, but it makes sense now why she didn't want to  come to this.”
Collin grimaced and muttered, “Paul just wants to know that she's okay.”
“Ask her yourself.” Kaycee scoffed, as she looked back to the older wolf, “God, you really are a tool.”
“I would, if she would talk to me,” Paul fumed. Even he could tell this conversation was teetering a line that neither of them should cross.
“Maybe stop trying to dictate who she can and can’t be friends with and she’ll talk to you.” Kaycee crossed her arms over her chest, as she reprimanded him,“She’s not eleven anymore. She can make her own choices.”
Paul scoffed, “I haven’t done anything.”
“So you didn't tell Brady to stay away from her?” She asked with a cocked eyebrow.
Collin glared at Paul, an obvious hint to not answer his imprint's question,“Kaycee, it’s getting late, I should get you home.”
“If there's one thing to know about Sulli, she doesnt take well to people trying to ruin her friendships. It's all she's got, Paul.” Kaycee remarked, and he almost felt guilty. That was until the images of Sulli in Bradys arms, cuddled up on a couch as they laughed about something together ran through his mind. The memory courtesy of Collins inability to keep his thoughts to himself.
Even worse, from the night before Brady's birthday. His hands on her body. Lips on her neck.
It was enough to make him see red.
The tempered wolf hadn’t even realized Collin and Kaycee had walked off only to be approached by Sam.
“Paul, you need to pull it together.” Sam said, his tone full of authority as he clapped his hand on Paul's shoulder “You can't be lashing out like this. You keep this up, and you’re not going anywhere near Sulli.”
“You can’t do that.” Paul pushed back, puffing out his chest and clenching his fists by his side.
“Don’t give me a reason to.” Sam growled, threatening him to challenge his authority. He wanted to, just because Sam would even think about keeping him away from Sulli. But once an alpha command was made, he’d be a chained up dog leaving her on her own.
“Still think you know her better than I do?” Brady quipped as he walked past him and Sam.
“Fuck you, pup.” Paul growled out as he pushed past Sam, no longer able to tolerate his surroundings.  Brady was making this a hell of a lot harder than it needed to be and everyone else  seemed to be okay with it. Okay with him touching his imprint.
The familiar feeling of rage reared its ugly head as he stalked off towards the trees.
There was only one outcome Paul could see in this situation.
Sulli was going to get hurt.
------
“How’d it go?” Kaycee asked as Sulli dropped down onto the couch across from her in exhaustion.
She had spent the night at the animal clinic, adding an extra six hours on top of the eight she had been scheduled for. She wouldn't trade it for the world, but sometimes, it was rough. Physically and emotionally.
She felt bad for cancelling on Brady, though she really didn't want to go to the bonfire, she did want to hangout with him again after he had called her and asked her to come for him, and not for Paul's sake. She let out a tired sigh and told her ,“Bagels will have a nice little dog wheelchair from now on.”
Kaycee frowned at the news. She had been on her way out when the dog, Bagels, had been brought in after being hit by a car, “I’m sorry, Sulli.”
“It’s fine,” She waved Kaycee off.
“Let's have a girls night, just you and me.” She said, tucking her legs underneath as she settled onto the couch, “No boys or wolves.”
Girls nights were not a rare occurrence for the two best friends, they happened more often when new seasons of their favourite shows aired. Sulli met Kaycee when they were seventeen and she had been the new student for the fifth time. By  luck, they were partnered for a science project, where the two learned of their shared love of animals and goals to work with them in the future. Kaycee wanted to be a vet tech, while Sulli had always dreamt of being a veterinarian.
Kaycees family home was a safe space for Sulli, though the old couple she lived with were alright, the little boy that was also being fostered was still adjusting to life in the system. It was hard to watch.
They ended up going to school together in Tacoma and rooming in the dorms before living together in Forks.
She was grateful to have Kaycee, especially on nights like these.
The two girls were now more than half way through their second bottle of wine and a season of Love on Island deep into their girls night when Kaycee dropped a bombshell.
“Did you know Collin is a wolf?” She had asked, and Sulli almost choked on her own saliva.
“He told you?” Sulli gasped. She was sure that it was a secret that was meant to be kept hidden. At least that's what she remembered being told. Collin has only known Kaycee for five months, and this solidified Sullis suspicion that things were moving quite quickly between them.
Now Sulli was questioning why she was told in the first place. All because of one nightmare she had, Paul decided to show her that he turned into a giant silver wolf. It doesn't make sense. Unless he figured she would forget eventually.
Kaycee nodded her head, “Yeah, why didn't you tell me you knew?”
“Wasn’t my secret.” She shrugged, taking a sip of her wine.
“Paul asked me about you, sort of.” Kaycee mentioned quickly, as if Sulli would set the house up in flames at the mere mention of his name, “How does he know you enough to care how you’ve been?”
“He was always just around when I was staying with Sue. I think he was fucking her daughter or something.” She shrugged.
“Huh,” Kaycee said dumbfounded, “No, I don’t think that's true.”
Sulli didn't know what to think of that,“What do you mean?”
“Brady got into a tuff with him at the bonfire, it looked serious and Paul was not happy at all but Collin wouldn’t get into the details. Which he obviously heard.” She muttered, running her hand through her hair,  “It's just..complicated.”
“How?” Sulli narrowed her eyes. Kaycee knew something she didn’t about all this unnecessary drama and it irked her that she was being as allusive as possible.
Kaycee looked everywhere but Sulli as she offered very little information, “I think there's a reason he told Brady to stay away from you…But I can’t tell you.”
“Well that's helpful.” She said sarcastically.
“Let me ask Collin and I’ll get back to you.” The blonde said, before wiggling her eyebrows curiously, “Anyways, back to Paul, gimme the deets on him. He clearly cares about you.”
“There's honestly nothing, Kay. All I remember was that I was left with them, they made me think that I was going to be staying for a while and then I was shipped off.” She said nonchalantly while pouring the rest of the wine between the two of them. Tommy had found his way into her lap, meowing for attention that she was quick to give.
“There's gotta be more,” Kaycee pressed.
“I spent Christmas with them, I still have a few of the presents somewhere. My mom and dad weren’t big Christmas people so I didn't have the whole too excited to sleep experience and uh, I remember Paul waking me up before the sun was even up. He carried me downstairs and he zipped me into his hoodie with him to stay warm. Sue's house was always freezing cold, but I guess when your kids produce 110 degrees on their own you don’t need heating really.” Sulli remembered trying to bribe Paul to let her go back to sleep, telling him to lock her door so he didn't have to leave either. She laughed at the memory, adding, “We both ended up falling asleep on the couch and missed everything.”
Eventually Sue had woken them up for breakfast and so that Sulli could open her presents. She had been gifted more things than she knew what to do with, and Paul had teased her that Santa was real after all.
Kaycee had the same knowing smile Sue did all those years ago, she had only been giving that look a few times in her life, and she could never figure out what it meant. Whether it was a good or bad thing to be left in the dark, though Kaycee would never intentionally hurt Sulli, she knew that as a fact. “As your best friend who loves you, don’t sleep with Brady again. He’s not worth it.”
She sighed, swishing her glass of wine around with a frown, “I don’t know, Kaycee, there's just something about him--”
“Ah-ah, no more sleeping with the baby wolf,” Kaycee said as if she was speaking to a child, “Just trust me.”
“Baby wolf?” Sulli asked in confusion before downing the rest of her wine.
“He was the last of the pack to phase.” Kaycee explained. It was weird how much Collin had explained to her in one night considering they went to a bonfire. Sulli figured it would be more roasting marshmallows than word vomiting his life secrets.
“Explains why he's got no backbone.” She noted, before giddily asking,“Is the sex with Collin as good as I had it with Brady?”
“So good.” She boasted, “He just gets me, and the heat? Amazing, like my entire body feels like it's been lit like a firework.”
Sulli pouted, “Maybe he is worth it.”
“No!” Kaycee said, tilting her head back with a teasing groan, “We will find you a nice, hot man, who will treat you like the queen you are.”
“I don't want that, I just want sex with a strong, hot wolf.” She said wistfully. Brady was a catch, she couldn’t deny it. He was very much the boy next door, not exactly her type, but he had never looked at her with pity, only understanding. He understood her more than anyone. Though he had never gone into foster care, he doesn't speak to his parents anymore. She never pressed why, but they’re both on their own in a way. Kaycee and Collin would never fully understand that.
“I’m sure if you asked nicely, Paul--”
Sulli groaned, “Not a chance.”
Kaycee furrowed her eyebrows, “Why?”
“For one, Brady said hes fucking his friends sister.” She said with disdain, before adding, “And two, I don’t trust him.”
“Didnt you fuck Dereks dad during family weekend freshman year?” Kaycee said with a small giggle.
Sulli grinned at the memory. Derek could never look her directly in the eye after finding out she had slept with his freshly divorced dad, “That was different. Derek and I weren't friends, he was your friend.”
“It doesn't matter, the point is, you don’t have to trust him to have sex with him.” Her friend pointed out.
She shook her head adamantly, “He’s a douchebag.”
“Sulli,” Kaycee said gently, “You’ve been fussing about him not really knowing you, and you know, you don’t really know him either.”
She knew her friend was right. Sulli knew as much about Paul as he did about her. They had only spent a month together when she was eleven, she knew he liked the outdoors and football. At least, that's all she remembered.
She couldn't help but wonder if he still had the gift she had given him that Christmas, she still had the one he gave her. As well as the stuffed wolf, shoved somewhere deep in her closet. It had gone from home to home with her, and while she’d lost a lot of her personal belongings along the way, she refused to part with either items.
She huffed in stubbornness, “I know he’s a liar.”

As much as she loved animals, Sulli had finally come to terms with the downside of being a veterinarian. Helping injured animals made her happy, she loved seeing the smiles on their owners faces when she gave them good news. But seeing the animals that couldn’t be helped, or the ones that were surrendered to the clinic because the owners didn't realise how hard it was to take care of animals, or worse, because they just didn’t want them anymore, broke her heart.
Sulli wished she could take them all home with her to love and adore them the way they deserved, but that was just a fantasy.
“Hey babes, you’ve got mail.” She heard Kaycee call out to her as she shut the front door.
Sulli collected the mail for her from the table in the entry way as she walked into the living room. She nearly groaned out loud as she noticed Collin cuddled up to her best friend, and Brady sat stretched out on the adjacent couch.
“We were just about to start a movie, do you want to join us?” Kaycee asked her with a smile.
“Is it Teen Wolf?” She jabbed, causing Collin to glare at her. Guess he hadn’t informed Kaycee of his extracurricular activities.
Kaycee laughed and asked, “No, why is that the first movie that came to mind?”
“Dunno.” She shrugged,  “I’ll be upstairs.”
Sulli picked up her cat, Tommy, from underneath his little heat lamp that was meant for the plants littered throughout the living room. It was his favourite spot to wait for her in. Even with the many cat trees scattered throughout the house, he never looked happier than when he was under the lamp or in Sullis arms.
She brought him up to her room and carefully placed him on the small cat tree in her room.
Sulli sat on her bed sifting through the mail that was hers. Only one letter caught her attention. She carefully opened the envelope and took out the paper. It was a classic white letter sheet, with a handwritten letter. The little drawings caught her eye and she couldn't help but smile. She turned her head to the door as two soft knocks sounded throughout the room.
“Can I come in?” Brady asked as he poked his head in. He didn't wait for a response and let himself in, a look of concern on his face as his eyes drifted down to the letter in her hands, he grimaced and wrang out his fingers.
She rolled her eyes, turning her attention back to the letter in her hand. She read it quickly and let out a shaky sigh. She quickly wiped the lone tear that had fallen before standing up and placing the letter on the desk in her room.
“I need to change.” She muttered, trying to keep her tone even. She didn't want to cry in front of him. She didn't want to seem weak, because she wasn’t. She was tired, tired of people pushing her around for no reason. As if she didn't get that enough when she was a teenager.
“Nothing I haven't seen before.” He quipped, sitting on the edge of her bed where she had just been sitting.
She scoffed, “You have a lot of fucking nerve”
“Sulli, I--” He started to defend himself.
“Brady,” She stopped him, bringing her hands up to her face to prevent herself from losing it at him. She still considered him a friend, even if what he was doing was cowardly,  “I’ve had a hard day and I really don’t want to do this right now.”
Brady looked at her with concern, and suggested, “How ‘bout we go for a ride, just you and me?”
“You said that you were told--” She started, only to be cut off.
“I know,” He grabbed her waist and guided her towards where he sat on his bed, “But I can’t stand to see you cry, Sulli.”
“I’m not crying.” She brooded. Though her voice and sniffles told another story.
“I’ll take you to Cows and you can get your usual chocolate chip cookie dough cone, hows that sound?” He offered as she pulled off her top and untied her pants.
“Sounds like coercion.” She said, stepping out of her scrub pants, “Besides, I think I’m in a Sasquatch Trails mood.”
Brady watched her undress, leaning back on his hands, and with a grin he stated,“Whatever you want, babe.”
------
“So, you know our secret.” Brady asked, looking for confirmation.
The ride between the ice cream shop and his house had been filled with questions avoiding the topic. Though she could tell he was dying to ask. Now, as they sat on the porch of his home, looking out at the stars that she really gets to see in Forks, he must’ve felt more comfortable asking. Or maybe it was because she had ice cream in her system.
“Mhm.” She hummed, and continued to slowly eat her ice cream cone. Brady had opted for a cup as the driver of their ice cream run. They had been going back and forth sharing their own preferred icecreams. Sulli knew that he got cookie dough because she had mentioned it was her favourite early on in their friendship, it was a nice gesture.
She handed him the cone and he showed his self restraint by not wolfing it down. She giggled at the thought as he handed it  back.
“How do you know exactly?” Brady asked, giving her a spoonful of his ice cream.
“Before I went into foster care, I stayed with Sue Clearwater. She's my aunt.” She explained, licking her lips free of excess ice cream.
Brady gave her a shocked look, “Sue told you?”
“No, Leah and Paul did.” She corrected with a shake of her head,  “Well, they showed me.”
Brady nodded, before asking, “And you haven't told anyone?”
“Not a single soul,” Sulli confirmed. She knew how important it was, even if she didn’t exactly care about the pack, she knew they couldn't control their genetics. Why make their lives hell just because hers was? She sighed and slumped down in her seat,   “Unlike them, I keep my promises.”
“Paul--” Brady started and Sulli rolled her eyes at the name before cutting him off.
“I don’t care, Brady.” She tutted, “And you shouldn’t let him tell you what to do, it makes you look like a pansy.”
“He's kind of the last person on earth I’d want to piss off.” He mentioned with a laugh, “Though, this probably will.”
“Seems like tomorrow's issue.” She said licking her ice cream cone suggestively.
He watched intently before looking down at his cup and stabbing the remainder of his icecream with his spoon, “Sulli, I want to, I do. But we really can’t.”
“Why? He’ll already be pissed off at you.” She asked, but the look on his face, one of regret and pain made her concede, “Fine.”
“We can still break in that blanket you got me. It really does help.” He suggested.
“Six feet apart?” She mocked.
Brady laughed boyishly, “No, I'll need to keep you warm. I know how cold you get.”
“Deal.” She grinned at the compromise. Pulling out her phone quickly, Sulli texted Kaycee to let her know that she would not be coming home for the night. She knew her best friend would take care of Tommy just as well as she could for the night. She slid her phone back into her pocket before Brady grabbed her hand and let her upstairs to his room. He shared a house with Collin and for two boys in their twenties, it was extremely well kept. Even his room was quite clean, with only a few items of clothes thrown about.
He grabbed the folded duvet off of his dresser, “You might need this.” Brady dropped it onto the bed and spread it along the edge of the bed, so that she could reach for it if necessary.
They two got into bed together and Sulli immediately knew she would be too cold as she inched closer to him. Brady wrapped his arm around her, the two as close as they could be, before he switched on the little tv on his wall and threw on the Movie Network. She knew it would just be background noise while they talked over it. It always was.
“You’re so warm.” She murmured, sliding her hand underneath his sweatshirt as she laid her head on his chest. The feeling of his skin radiating a comforting heat onto her hand made her crave more. She was glad the cooling blanket worked well enough for him though, she could barely feel it saddled up next to him. She couldn't imagine how hot he was underneath the duvet.
“Sulli,” He whispered softly.
She looked at him with a serious look, her hand stopping its travels on his solid abdomen, “Say no and I’ll stop.”
“And if I don't?” He asked with a cocked eyebrow. They were both losing this ‘no sex’ battle. Though there were more consequences for him than Sulli.
“I want you, Brady.” She whispered. Sulli almost cringed outwardly at how desperate she sounded. The heat pooling between her legs stopped her from caring, her needs were more important in that moment than her pride.
She gasped as he flipped their position without notice. As she looked up at Brady, the want was clear in his eyes.  “I’m practically a dead man walking at this point,” He stated with a chuckle,  “What's one more nail in the coffin?”
“Are you sure?” She asked. A part of her felt guilty to put him in this position, but the feeling of his hips pressing into her own reassured her that he was just as wanton as she was.
“I regret not keeping you to myself.” He muttered. Brady stroked her hair out of her face and behind her ear, before softly mumbling, “It’ll be like closure.”
“Hey,” She said, bringing her hand up to cup his cheek with a sly smile,  “I get it, sort of. They’re like family to you, but I still want to be friends with you. No matter what Paul says, he can't take you away from me. Not if you don't let him get to you.”
“I’ll try.” He said earnestly, before grinning as he added, “You’re like the coolest girl I've ever met.”
“I don’t need the flattery, Brady.” She chewed on her lip as she arched her back, pressing their chest together. The throbbing between her legs almost painful, “I just want you to fuck me.”
---------------------
“Goodmorning,” she whispered, throwing her leg over his body to straddle him. It was official, Sulli had succumbed to her heat addiction. She never wanted to feel cold again. “You’re alive,” She teased, brushing his dark locks out of his eyes.
He hummed in delight, “I like waking up like this.”
Brady's hand travelled her spine, causing goosebumps to raise across her body. “I can tell.” murmured softly. She could feel how hard she was, and she knew how easy it would be to slip him into her if she wanted to. Just one dip of her hips and the tip would slide right into her heat. She trusted Brady enough to not get tested for STDs but not enough to let him enjoy her raw. Sulli dipped her head down and pressed a kiss to his lips, pulling away slightly to ask, “Do you have work this morning?”
The door to his bedroom flung open, surprising both of them. Brady had been too focused on the slick heat she was pooling near his length as he resisted taking her right then and there, to hear anybody coming up the stairs.
“Brady, you’re--” A man's voice interrupted, the tone of disbelief had her looking over her shoulder to see who was speaking, just as the man muttered, “Oh, he’s going to kill you.”
“Jared!” Brady shouted, but he seemed more concerned about the unnamed man not seeing Sulli naked.  He wrapped her in the duvet as she sat up, still warm from their body temperatures melding together underneath the sheets. Brady grabbed his boxers and slipped them on clumsily before sitting next to her on the  bed. She inched closer to him to seek out more of his heat.
In all honesty, she was hoping for a third round before her next shift at the clinic.
“God, you are so dramatic.” She groaned, “We were just sleeping.”
“Sulli,” Brady shook his head, with a serious look on his face. As if he was telling her to be quiet.
She didn't even know who this man was and it felt like he was judging her. Judging them. All because some guy from ten years ago has some weird sense of entitlement over her.
“No, I’m allowed to sleep with, and fuck, whoever I want.” She shot back at him, narrowing her eyes at the man who had barged in, “Who even are you?”
“Jared.” He said politely, looking toward Sulli who had stood on her knees to grab Brady's sweater from the edge of the bed. Tossed aside from the night before. His eyes widened as he took in her lack of clothes,  “And you’re naked.”
He turned to look away, swearing under his breath. She giggled at his uncomfortableness.
“He’s Paul's best friend,” Brady said. He had put on a pair of gym shorts, but was still without a shirt. With every honest answer, he just got hotter and hotter. She knew she liked him for a reason.
“Best friend, huh?” She questioned Jared, “So you know all about his sex life?”
“Unfortunately.” He grimaced.
Sulli smirked, asking, “Right, so has he ever fucked any of your friends?”
“No,” He said quickly.
“But he fucked Jacobs sister.” Brady countered. Sulli grinned at the newfound confidence her friend had pulled together before Brady added, “Pretty sure he still is.”
Jareds eyes widened as he looked at Sulli to the younger boy, “Brady!”
Bingo!
That was all the information Sulli needed. How was Paul going to tell Brady to stay away from her when he was fucking his own friends sister?! In her books, that was arguably worse. He didn't even really know Sulli, and she definitely didn’t know him. Only bits of memory from her eleventh birthday and Christmas had been ingrained in her mind, that was it.
“Thanks, Brady, now all you need to do is grow a pair.” She said sweetly, patting him on the shoulder before turning back to Jared with a scowl, “And you can tell Paul hes a fucking hypocrite and that he doesn’t know me like he thinks he does.”
The older boy laughed, “You can tell him yourself at the bonfire.”
“Jared,” Brady shook his head, a silent conversation happening between the two boys.
Jared sighed in annoyance, “You didn’t do it, did you?”
“Do what?” Sulli asked him in confusion.
“He was supposed to ask you to come,” The older boy explained, adding,  “Your friends coming so you might as well tag along,”
Her lips parted at the mention of Kaycee attending, no doubt in her mind that she would be going with Collin. The way Jared had mentioned it so nonchalantly made her blood boil. She didn't care that Kaycee was going, that's another argument, for another day.
The idea of begging her best friend to ditch the wolf she was currently shacking up with had crossed her mind, but that would just make her a hypocrite considering whose bed she woke up in.
“Fuck you, I’m not going.” Sulli swore at Jared before turning to Brady and pointing an angry finger at him, “And fuck you, thats the only reason you were over yesterday, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah, but I wasn’t going to ask you.” He said honestly. She knew he was telling the truth, she could see the desperation to be believed on his face.
“You weren’t?” Jared asked with a cocked eyebrow as he folded his arms over his chest, “You told Paul you would.”
Of course he did. She was almost stunned by the idea, but the fact that Brady didn’t follow through and instead actively tried, and succeeded in making her day better is what stopped her from lunging at him in anger. She was aware of the bounty that would be on his head once it got out that Jared had found them naked in bed together, and now that he had apparently failed to do what was asked of him, she could only imagine how much worse it would be once Paul found out.
“She was crying, bro.” Brady said as shook his head.
“I’m going home,” Sulli said in disbelief. She no longer wanted to listen to this conversation, glaring at Brady as she told him, “Text me when you’ve cut the cord, Brady.”

As much as Sulli loved her coworkers and mentors, having a drink with them after the most stressful shift she's endured at the clinic was not on her to-do list.  Kaycee still had over an hour left on her shift, the one person she can drink with and not just talk about work and the events of the day.
Sullis' eyes scanned the bustling bar as Marion went on and on about a bunny that had been brought in for routine checkup. As soon as she recognized the one person who could keep her busy and help her unwind, she apologised to the older veterinarian and excused herself .
“Brady!” She called his name, bidding goodbye to her coworkers as she waved at the bronzed boy.
“Hey, Sulli.” He smiled down at her as she skipped up to him with a flirtatious smile.
“I’ve missed you.” She teased lightheartedly.
“I’ve been busy with work.” He said with a sigh. She wasn’t surprised that that's where he had disappeared to.  Collin had been absent for a while as well, according to Kaycee.
“Too busy it seems.” She beamed, wrapping her arms around his waist in a hug as she mumbled against his chest. “We got some lost time to make up for.”
He smirked slightly before it fell off of his face completely. She could practically see the wheels turning in his head as he figured out his next move.
“Are you feeling alright?” She asked genuinely concerned. He wasn’t acting like the Brady she had come to know. The Brady that had a charmed her within the first ten minutes of meeting. The one that had pulled her into the bathroom of the club they were at for Kaycees birthday with such confidence and turned her legs to jello.
“Yeah, I just…don’t think we should do this anymore.” Brady scratched them back of his neck, a nervous tick.
“Do what? We’re just friends..” She asked, cocking her eyebrow as she dropped her arms, folding them over her chest.
He tilted his head like a puppy, “You know what I mean.”
She wanted to laugh, its not like they were never going to see each other again, it was impossible giving how glued together Collin and Kaycee were, “You don’t want to fuck me is what you’re saying, thats fine. Look around, Brady, theres plenty of guys in this room for me to fuck. But you’re my best friend's boyfriend's best friend,”
Brady sighed, taking a step back from her and unable to maintain eye contact,“You don’t get it, I’ve been told to stay away from you.”
“You’ve been told.” She narrowed her eyes, not liking where this was headed, “By who?”
“It doesn’t matter.” He shook his head, giving her a small smile marred by an apologetic gaze,  “I’m sure I’ll see you around.”
“Brady,” She called after him, but he didn’t even glance back.
Sulli watched as he walked back over to a group of men and slid into the booth.  Her eyes scanned the group, they all looked so familiar. She landed on one in particular and her stomach dropped, his dark features prominent, he had barely aged from the last time she saw him, but everything about him seemed more mature. She looked from Paul to Brady and everything clicked.
She glared at the older one.
Paul's eyes flitted away from hers for a second as the man next to him said something that she couldn’t hear, before he was looking at her again, an unreadable expression on his face.
Just like that, her night was ruined.
That familiar feeling of betrayal set in from the last time she was with him slowly turned into rage, simmering within her.
He was playing with fire considering she knew his deepest secret, and now Brady and Collins.
If this had happened four years ago when she had nothing to lose, she would’ve let that wolf out of the bag. But now, she had a future to look forward to, and she was not going to ruin it on him.
He would just call her crazy, tell everyone that she made it up.
As if he didn’t physically show her.
She had been sitting there on Sue Clearwaters porch with her daughter in the middle of the night, as he shifted in right in front of her. Paul had told her between the stupid dreamer catcher he had given her and him being a wolf, she would always be safe.
What a load of shit, especially considering where she ended up less than a week later.
Shipped off to the first of many foster homes after they couldn't track down her mom. Julie, her social worker, had said the family was nice and welcoming, all that blew up in both their faces once the husband, Mo, found out Sullivan was a unisex name.
The foster son they thought they were getting didn’t exist, instead they got Sulli.
She never knew what utter hate felt like until Julie left her on the stairs of her new foster family's home, alone and afraid. Paul was nowhere to be found.
She turned to the bartender, quickly flagging him down to order another drink just as someone saddled in next to her. A deep voice chuckled as he spoke, “I know that guy wasn’t stupid enough to walk away from you.”
“Can’t win them all.” She muttered, taking money out of her purse to pay for her drink.
“It’s on me.” he said as he stopped her, placing a twenty dollar bill on the bar top for the bartender. Sulli muttered a thanks just as he asked,  “What's your name?”
“Sulli.” She mumbled, more interested in the drink that had been placed in front of her than trying to catch his name.
“You look great. I just know what's under your little dress looks even better.” He shamelessly flirted.
“You’re not wrong, it's just not for you.” Sulli stated, turning to lean against the bar, getting a better look at the man next her. His dirty blonde hair nearly glowed in the dim atmosphere, he was clean shaving, not too muscular but it worked for him. She liked his height, the difference between them not neck breaking, but just enough. He seemed like a good boy, not exactly her type, but she wasn't one to shy away from a challenge.
“No?” He asked with a raised eyebrow, “Not even for one night?”
Her weak spot.  One night stands were an addiction of sorts, one night of fun and then pretending like it never happened the next morning. A way to move on from Brady had just fallen into her lap. She pondered his offer, glancing over at the booth of over sized men. She could make out Paul glaring at the glass of amber liquid in front of him, not listening to his friends, no, he was listening to her conversation with that stupid wolf hearing of his. while she welcomed it in the the nights she had couldn't sleep when she was ten, she was going to use it to her own advantage now.
“What's in it for me?” She asked knowingly.
“Come back to my place and find out.” He murmured confidently. She bit her lip as his fingers pulled up the side of her dress teasing the skin on her thigh. The goosebumps on her arms were a dead giveaway of her arousal. Assuming her nameless companion was any good at picking up cues.
“I have an even better idea.” She smirked, grabbing his hand and slid its way under the skirt of her dress and tugging him along behind her. It was a petty thing, the decision to lead him to the mens bathroom, rather than take up his offer of going home with him, solely because they needed to pass Brady.
As they did, she sent him a wink, to which he frowned. His loss is another man's opportunity.
Even pettier, was the fact that Paul, who had decided to take it upon himself to ruin not only her situationship, but also her friendship with Brady, was in a close enough distance to where they were headed, that his little wolf ears would pick up every moan and groan. Why would he want her fucking his friend when she could just fuck a stranger? Great thinking, Paul, she thought as she locked the door of the bathroom stall and turned to her new friend with a flirty smile.
-----
After cleaning herself up in the women's bathroom as best she could, Sulli beelined it for the exit. Hoping her male companion wasn’t up for a round two, she sure was not. She looked at the time on her phone and quickly sent a message to Kaycee, asking for a ride as she knew she would be getting off work at any moment, and Sulli needed to vent.
“Sulli,” Paul said gruffly as soon she rounded the corner of the door.
“Sullivan.” She corrected him, stopping as he blocked her path, “Only my friends get to call me Sulli.”
“We’re not friends anymore?” He asked innocently, and the rage that had been simmering all night began to brew.
“What do you want?” She retorted, on the verge of losing her patience.
“You’re playing a dangerous game in there.” Paul warned her, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Now you care about my safety?” She snapped, taking a step towards him, close enough to feel the heat emitting off of his skin and to breathe in his scent. It's still the same, like sandalwood and cinnamon, and that makes her seethe.  “Or are you just jealous?” She asked, batting her eyelashes up at him, her lips spreading into a grin as she watched him visibly swallow. He was nervous and she revelled in it.
“That's why you told Brady to stay away from me, isn’t it?” She hummed smugly as he refused to answer,  “Hope you enjoyed listening. See you never, Paul.”
Paul chuckled darkly, “Thats why you fucked that loser? You wanted me to listen.” He goaded, licking his lips before clicking his tongue against his teeth in disapproval, “That’s kinky.”
She narrowed  her eyes, “Says the guy who stuck around to listen to a girl eight years younger than him moan to another guys--”
“Paul!” Brady and another man who resembled him stood at the corner of the bar, waiting for him,  “We’ve got to go.”
“Time for you to go howl at the moon.” She said mockingly.
“Wait,” Paul stopped her, gripping her arm firmly. The heat was familiar, he was just as warm as Brady was. It should have clicked the first night she spent tangled underneath the younger man, but it didn’t. It made her want him more. Sulli wrenched her arm from his grasp, and he clenched his jaw at the action before starting to ask,“Have you--”
“No, I haven't told anyone you’re secretly a furry.” She quipped, smiling sweetly as she said, “The biggest kink of them all.”
“Funny.” He muttered, though he didn't smile. She wasn’t sure if he knew how to smile considering his face was in the same stoic expression it was when she clocked him from across the bar. Paul ran his hand through his hair before asking, “Do you need a ride home?”
“Not a chance in hell.” Sulli scoffed, “I’d fuck an Uber driver for a free ride before I ever got into a car with you.”
“Sulli!” She heard her name being called. She knew the voice well and turned to look at the parking lot, seeing Kaycee wave from inside her car.
“Have a nice night.” She said, bristling with annoyance from the man beside her. She did not spare him another glance as she walked  over to Kaycee’s now parked car. She knew her friend had just gotten off of work, and was thankful Collin hadn’t made an appearance tonight, allowing her to leave with her friend freely. “There's my DD.”
“You look like you had a fun night,” Kaycee whistled at her appearance before looking behind her and asking “Where's Brady?”
Sulli frowned at the question, responding with bitter honesty, “Brady and I are no more. Your boyfriend's best friend has zero balls.”
“Did you fuck that guy whos currently watching you like a hawk?” Kaycee asked, nudging her head back to where Paul stood.
She barked out a laugh, “He wishes. He's the one who neutered Brady,”
“Well, he's hot as hell.” Her friend noted innocently. Sulli had never told her about her time with the Clearwaters, or that Paul had broken her trust at the ripe young age of eleven. He was a liar, and that's all he’ll ever be to her. No amount of hotness will change that. “Get on him.”
“He’s a tool.” She muttered, getting into the passenger seat of Kaycees car. She looked out the side view mirror and watched as Paul jogged off towards a waiting Brady, the other man nowhere to be seen.

TW: Slight Smut “You already got me a present.” She said in confusion. Sullis mom told her she gets one present as both a birthday and Christmas present, but she got to pick dinner for Christmas. She always chose the little 90′s diner down the street from their apartment complex and would get an ice cream float with french fries. She had already received more presents from the Clearwaters and Paul than she knew what to do with.
She placed the stuff wolf she had gotten from him the night before sat next to her, neatly placed beside the stuffed black cat Sue had given her. The book about wolves she was given from Leah and Seth, she kept tucked under her arm for safe keeping.
“That was for your birthday, this ones for Christmas.” Paul chuckled, as he pressed gently, “Open it.”
Sulli carefully unwrapped the present before inspecting it gently with he fingers,“What is it?”
“It's a dream catcher.” He explained, he took it from her hands to show her which way was up, before telling the young girl, “You hang it above your bed and it’ll keep away bad dreams.”
“What about the good ones?” Sulli asked quietly. She didn’t want all her dream to be taken from her.
“You’ll still have those.” Paul promised.
“Thank you.” She hugged him tightly before placing the dream catcher gently next to her other gifts. She was afraid to wreck it, she had never been given anything so fragile before.
Sulli stood up as she mentioned, “I have a gift for you. Sue helped me make it.”
Sue handed her the messily wrapped gift, clearly done by her and she stood in front of Paul as she handed it to him. “Here.”
She bounced on the balls of her feet as he unwrapped it carefully, waiting for his reaction. It was a photo of the two of them in a frame that she decorated herself, on the bottom she had messily written both of their names in bold, black lettering.
Sue had taken the picture after her first week with the Clearwaters. She was told that she would be spending Christmas with them, and that her mom was aware of who she was with. They didn’t say when she would be leaving, but Sulli knew it would be soon, so she wanted to give Paul something to remember her.
Paul looked up with her a soft smile, “I love it, thank you, Sulli.”
TEN YEARS LATER
“Sulli,” The man she was currently using as a pillow said softly, strumming his fingers through her hair,  “Wake up, sleeping beauty.”
“No,” She whined, wrapping her arms tighter around his waist. Something about him was so comforting, she hadn’t felt this warm in years and all it took was cuddling some guy that her best friend had introduced her to?
Brady laughed, sliding his hand from her hair, down her naked body to her ass, giving it a light tap, “Come on, you promised me birthday pancakes from Al’s Diner.”
Sulli groaned as she blinked her eyes open.  Between the blaring sun through his crooked curtains and the pounding headache courtesy of the night before, she was not impressed.
She lifted her head off of his chest and positioned her body so that she could look at him directly
“I can give you something else instead.” She mumbled tiredly as she pressed kisses up his chest and neck until she reached his lips. He reacted accordingly, their lips moving in sync as he cupped the back of her neck.
Brady pulled away first, grinning up at her smugly. If it wasn't his birthday she would’ve wiped it right off of his face.
“This is tempting, but food over sex right now, babe. I’m starving.” He beamed causing the younger girl to groan and flop back on the bed with a huff.
“Brady!” She exclaimed, bemoaning, “You’re always hungry.”
“I’m a growing boy.” He teased as he got out of bed, stealing her heat as he left.  She marvelled over his body as he walked towards the small dresser in his room.
He may not be the brightest, but he’s definitely got his body going for him.
“You’re twenty four, hardly a boy.” She said with a roll of her eyes.
“Twenty five!” Brady corrected her, “Get dressed, Sulli. Kacey and Collin are waiting for us downstairs.”
“I’ll just wait for you to get back,” She splayed back against the bed, her arms resting underneath her head. The chequered patterned comforter only hid her lower half, leaving her naked chest on display.
“Are you trying to seduce me?” He asked, watching her as he pulled up his jeans, and buttoned them. Brady would be terrible at poker. Every emotion showed in his eyes, and right now, they were filled with lust.
“Is it working?” She winked at him, arching her back slightly with a teasing giggle.
“Maybe,” Brady said while he pulled the comforter to the side, taking one of her ankles and positioning her leg so that he was able to kneel in between her legs. He hovered over her as she wrapped her arms, clasping her hands behind his neck to pull him down and press her lips to hers. She hummed happily as he gave in to her desires. The older man brought his hand to her breasts, kneading the soft flesh with his calloused hand. Tweaking her nipple between his thumb and pointer finger to garner a moan.
“See, I think this is better than pancakes.” She mumbled, pressing her lips to his jaw as she hooked one of her legs around his calf to keep him in place and used one of her hands to try and unbutton his jeans.
Just as she got the button undone, a loud knock sounded on the door to the bedroom, with Brady's friend Collin yelling, “You can have birthday sex later, let's go!”
--
“Wait, how old are you again Sulli?” Collin asked, shovelling the rest of Kaycees pancakes into his mouth. The boys had hoovered through their plates like animals before devouring what the girls couldn't finish.
Sulli grimaced at the sight, “For like the millionth time, I’m 22.”
“She’ll be 23 on Christmas Eve.” Kaycee reminded her new fling, “That party is going to be epic.”
“Always is.” She commented, before looking up at Brady. “Book the night off whenever you get a chance,”
She was tucked into Brady’s side comfortably, his arm outstretched on the back of the booth they all sat in, his other hand resting on the thigh of the leg she had draped over his own thick thigh.
“I don’t know, if I spend the night with you Santas definitely not showing up.” He teased, sliding his hand further up her thigh to the hem of her shorts.
“You’re ridiculous.” She laughed, “Besides, I give the best gifts. You don’t even need Santa.”
He leaned down to whisper in her ear, “Can’t wait.”
“Oi! I heard enough last night, I don’t need a visual to go with it.” Collin grimaced at the memory.
“Are you sure?” She teased, commenting, “Someone told me once I’d make a fantastic porn star.”
“Shut up! Who told you that?” Kaycee asked with a laugh.
Sulli sat up straighter to tell the story, forcing Brady's hand to fall back down to her knee,“Do you remember that TA for Intro to Zoology?”
“Mr. Burke?” Kaycee looked at her with uncertainty
She nodded her head emphatically, “He was a total creep, but we hooked up right before exams and as I was leaving his place he told me that if vet school didn’t work out I'd be making a killing in the porn industry.”
“Brady, can you confirm?” Collin asked jokingly, which caused Brady to choke on his drink.
Sulli eyed Brady, ready to call off whatever they were calling their situation if he misspoke, “No comment.”
She patted his shoulder, “Good answer.”
He winked at her before pulling her back into him, nearly onto his lap as Kaycee engrossed Collin into a conversation. Sulli turned back to Brady, quietly saying, “Your presents in my car.”
‘You didn’t have to get me anything,”
She rolled her eyes before exiting the booth and extending her hand to him, “Come,” she stuck her hand in her purse before pulling out two fifties, “Tell the waiter to keep the change, we’re going to be outside.”
She dragged him out to her car and opened the back door, “Close your eyes.”
She placed the unwrapped object in his hands, “Open.”
Brady did as he was told and looked down, “A blanket?”
“Not just any blanket,” She laughed, almost nervously, before explaining the gift,  “it's a cooling blanket. You said you overheat with the comforter you have now, so..”
“You’re right,” Brady smiled boyishly. He placed the blanket on the roof of  her car before pulling her to him by the waist, dipping his down and mumbling, “Way better than Santa.”
He pressed his lips to hers and she quickly wrapped her arms around his neck, revelling in his touch. A slight whine left her lips as he pulled away, though he kept her caged in with his arms on either side of her as he told her, “But I’m going to need you to help me break it in.”
“What about tonight?” She asked, stroking his arm flirtatiously.
Sulli hated commitment, but it was rare for her to find a guy who had the same expectations as her. Sex with a side of friendship, no feelings whatsoever. Brady was on the same page as her. He worked two jobs that occupied most of his time, but when he wasn’t working he was at the same dinghy bar she went to wind down from work. It just made sense to stick with him for a little while. Especially if Kaycee and Collin continue heading down the path they were on. She had never seen her friend so lovestruck before.
“I’ve got a thing tonight with a bunch of friends.” He said, before offering, “You could come..”
“I’m good.” She shook her head with a laugh, she stood on her toes and pressed a kiss to his cheek, whispering,  “Happy Birthday.”
“I’ll text you when I’m free next.” His hand slid from her lower back to her ass, giving it a firm squeeze causing her to smack his hand away teasingly.
“See ya!” She grinned up at him before walking to the driver's side of her car as Collin and Kaycee exited the restaurant, “Come on, Kay!”

Brady POV
“I’m in love.” Collin said dreamily, flopping down to the floor beside the couch. They were waiting for a few more members of the pack to show up before they cut into the cake. That was a pack rule. No cake until everyone was done patrolling.
Though it’d be a miracle if Paul, the last member they were waiting on, showed up. He rarely does anything other than meetings and bonfires. Birthdays were low on his priority list, he didn't even show up to his own party last year.
“It’s been three weeks, Collin.” Embry teased him as he threw a pillow at the younger wolf laying on the ground.
“So? I’ve had to watch you idiots with your imprints for the past five years.”  His best friend quipped. He was happy for him, really, even happier that his best friend's imprint came with a best friend for him as well. Though she wasn’t his imprint, he still lucked out and he was going to make it known.
“And I get to reap the benefits of his imprint.” Brady said smugly, “Her friend Sulli is a fox.”
He missed the look shared between Jared and Sam as Claire asked, “Who?”
“Sulli, she works with Kacey at the animal clinic in Forks, she's studying to be a vet tech or something.” Brady explained. Though he wasn’t sure if what he was saying was correct.
He nodded his head along as Collin corrected him, “No, Kacey is a vet tech, Sulli is studying to be an actual vet.”
“Sulli as in Sullivan?” Jared asked curiously.
“Yeah, why?”  Brady asked, looking between the three eldest adults in the room as their faces shifted to frowns.
Jared stood up and walked to the entrance of the living room, leaving his own imprint confused as he mumbled, “Hope you haven't gotten your birthday beatings yet.”
“He got something from Sulli this morning.” Collin joked as he sat up.
“Borders all clear.” The rough voice of Paul said as he entered the room. His presence caused Sam and Jared to stiffen as he clapped Brady on the shoulder,  “Hey man, happy birthday.”
“This will be good.” Embry announced and before Brady could say anything, another one of his packmates spoke up.
“Hey, Brady,  why don’t you tell Paul about your new friend Sulli?”
Paul's hand on his shoulder tightened at the name.  It was tight enough that it felt like he was crushing bones. “Dude,” Brady winced before shoving his hand off, “What the fuck?”
Paul's eyes flitted to Jared as they watched him start to unravel. It wasn't uncommon for Paul to lose it, but never this quickly, and especially not over a name. Before anyone could question it, Paul was bolting back out the door he came from.
“Does anyone care to explain?” Brady asked, rubbing his sore shoulder.

“Sulli!” The social worker exclaimed to the young girl in the car,  “She's a bit difficult if you haven't noticed.”
“I want to go home!” The little girl screamed from the car. She didn’t know Sue, she just wanted to be back in her home. Her mom had promised she would be back, they should have just waited for her, Sullivan thought.
“It’s just for a couple of weeks, Sue, you’re the only family member listed. The state is already working on finding her a home.” The old lady reasoned with the only known relative. Supposedly her mom's sister. Though she had never heard of her until an hour ago.
“If she has nowhere else to go, then of course.” Sue looked flustered as she tried to put into words her thoughts. “I just, I didn’t know..”
“Thank you,” Ms. Julie, or at least that's what she called herself, sighed in relief, and reached into the car with a stern look on her face, muttering at the little girl, “Behave.”
Yeah, right, Sullivan thought.
Sullivan started screaming her little head off as Julie tried to pry the ten year old out of the car. The older woman held her by the waist as the little girl held on the seatbelt for dear life. She didn’t understand why she had no choice, her dad always said she had a choice.
Sue frowned at the scene in front of her as her kids and their friends came out to see the commotion.
“What is all that---” Paul froze, looking at the little girl who had lost her battle against the social worker, and flopped to the ground. She was staring wide eyed at him, like a little deer in headlights. Sullivan took the opportunity to scramble under the car while everyone stared in shock at the man looking at her in awe.
Goodluck dragging me out now, Ms. Julie, she thought to herself.
“Sulli!” Julie shouted, “Get out from there now!”
“No!” She yelled back.
“Let me try.” Sullivan heard a deep voice say as a pair of beat up runners came into view. The rough voice sounded calming, almost. But there was no way he was going to get her to come out.
“Be my guest,” Julie said exasperated.
“Do you like cookies?” The man asked as he sat down on the gravel, with his back against the car.
Sullivan glared at him though he couldn’t see her. She was not falling for this trick, not again, “I'm not allowed to have cookies.”
He scoffed before asking, “Says who?”
“That lady.” Sulli said with the most preteen attitude she could muster. She had been stuck with Julie all day and couldn’t take it anymore.
Speaking of the devil, Julie asked the man, “You really want to put sugar in this kid?”
“Beats her screaming like you kidnapped her.” The man snapped at the social worker, before softly saying to Sullivan. “You can have a cookie, the biggest one you can find.”
“Promise?” She asked, sticking her arm out from under the car with her pinky up. Pinky promises were practically law in her family, they could never be broken. That's how she knew her mom would be back for her, she had pinky promised.
The man shifted, lifting his hand out of the gravel and wrapped his large pinky around her small one. She pulled her hand back like she had been burned, the heat of his skin catching her off guard. Though she trusted him nonetheless.
Sulli poked her head out from under the car and looked up, he wasn’t really a man. Maybe a teenager. He looked down at her with complexity before softening his gaze, “How does chocolate chip sound?”
She smiled up at him, “Those ones are my favourite.”
“Yeah?” He grinned at her response, “We’ve got a whole bunch inside.”
“Inside?” She frowned, “I want to stay out here.”
She knew as soon as she went inside, Julie would leave her here and her mom would have no way of finding her.
“Sweetie, why don’t you come inside and we can try and get in touch with your mom. I still have her phone number.” Sue offered, and Julie dutifully agreed. The two of them seemed to be in cahoots with each other.
Sulli looked back at Paul, “Does she lie a lot?”
Paul shook his head, “Sue never lies.”
“Okay.” she agreed, climbing out from the car and dusting off her now dirty clothes.
“Is this your bag?” Paul asked, holding up the animal printed backpack. She nodded, and squeezed past him into the car so that she could grab the stuffed animal she had dropped in her fit of rage. An old stuffed rabbit she's had since she was a toddler.
Sulli let Paul lead her inside the small home and she stuck to his side through the stares of all the people. They were all so big.
He brought her into the kitchen and told her to sit at the table as he shuffled about the kitchen, in drawers and cupboards before walking back to her.
His hands full of random things that he placed on the table as he sat next to her, putting a plate with a giant chocolate chip cookie on it, “I’ve got some paper, and crayons for you too. You like to draw?”
She nodded, and grabbed one of the white sheets of paper and a few crayons, “My dad said there's wolves here, is that true?”
“Very true.” Paul confirmed, leaning on his palm as he watched her.
“You have a different cookie.” Sulli pointed out, it looked like it had more chocolate in it.
Paul looked from his cookie to hers, “Want to try it?”
She nodded as Paul was already handing it to her. She took a bite and said,“I like that one.”
“You can have it.” Paul offered.
“Two?” She questioned.
Paul chuckled, “Yeah, kid.”
“My name is not kid.” She said snarkily, but nonetheless, split the cookie that was originally his in half, before doing the same to her own, and putting the two halves on his plate, so that they could share. She didn’t want him to be without a cookie.
“What's your name then?” He asked curiously, smiling as she pushed the plate towards him.
“Sulli.”
“Your name is Sulli?” He laughed, causing her to frown.
“Don’t laugh!” She exclaimed before she launched her pencil crayon at him. “My real name is Sullivan, but my dad said Sully suits me better.”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” He apologized, before telling her, “My name is Paul.”
“That's an old man's name.” Sullivan griped, looking back at her drawing in progress.
“Yeah, well I’m not an old man, am I?”
“You’re like thirty, that's old.” She explained.
“I’m nineteen.” Paul responded with a chuckle before asking, “How old are you?”
Sullivan looked up at him, “Ten, almost eleven. My birthday is next month, on Christmas Eve.”
“You must get twice the amount of presents then.” He said.
“Paul,” The lady named Sue shook her head at the statement as she walked into the kitchen. Paul grimaced as he looked at the expression on Sullivans's face.
Sullivan frowned, “No, just one, like everybody else.”
“One present?” Paul asked, confused. Sullivan wasn’t sure why, everyone only got one present. That's what her parents told her. She nodded her head in response.  Paul continued with another question, “What about Santa? I’m sure you’ve been good enough to get something from him.”
“Santas not real.” She said with a roll of her eyes,  “He’s made up to get kids to behave, my mom told me that.”
“Oh,” Paul's smile faded at her response. “You sure you’re ten?”
“I’m sure.” She said, putting her pencil crayon off the side of her finished drawing. It was a mixture of woodland creatures. The biggest being a wolf.
Paul looked at the drawing, and let out a whistle of admiration,“I like that. Can I keep it?”
“Can we call my mom now?” She said, looking towards Sue as she slid the paper to Paul. She had no use for the drawing herself.
“Why don’t we try in the morning, sweetie?” Sue smiled at her as she sat with Sullivan and Paul at the table,  “She’s probably busy with, um, your dad. That's what Ms. Julie said.”
“My dads in prison.” She admitted, there was no way that her mom wouldn't be answering the phone. They barely talk to each other anymore, if anything, they use her to send messages,  “I talked to him last week,”
“Oh,” Sue said carefully.
Sullivan shrugged, grabbing a new piece of paper to draw on, “He told me he would be back soon, he just has to talk to a judge first.”
“Right, well, did your mom tell you where she was going?” Sue asked.
Sullivan nodded, “She said she had to visit Mr. Drake. He lives in Seattle, but she said she would be back by Friday. So I should be home by then, she doesn’t like it when I don’t tell her I’m leaving.”
“You leave often?” Paul asked curiously.
She looked to Paul and answered, “Yeah, I have to feed Mrs.Felix’s cat. She’s old and forgets to.”
“You like cats?” He smiled, and she could tell he was trying to get the subject off of the topic of her parents. She didn’t mind though.
She nodded, “They’re my favourite animal. I wanted one, but my dad’s allergic.”
“You’ll be able to have your own someday.” Paul said thoughtfully.
“Do you want a cat, Paul?” Sue asked knowingly. A teasing smile on her face as she watched Sullivan look up at him with curiosity.
He shrugged, “I’m not opposed to it.”
“You should get an American Bobtail cat,”  Sullivan said excitedly.
Paul laughed before asking, “Why's that?”
“They have dog-like personalities so you can take them on walks and stuff.” Sullivan explained, last year for her birthday, she received a book on all the different types of cats. She memorised all the ones she liked and while the American bobtail was one she liked, it wasn’t her favourite.
Paul chuckled, “Is that the cat you want?”
“No, I want a Bombay cat, they’re very affectionate even though they look like black panthers.” She explained. Bombays have always been her favourite.
“You’re very intelligent, Sulli.” Sue told her.
“I know.” Sullivan agreed.
“Good morning!” A soft, feminine voice exclaimed. Sulli turned to see a young woman walking into the kitchen with a picnic basket. Her shyness took over as she leaned into Paul's arm. A small chuckle emitted from the older boy as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“It’s just Emily, Sulli.” Paul whispered in her ear. “She's nice too.”
Emily stopped in her tracks as she witnessed Paul with the little girl, “Whos this?”
“Sulli.” She said her name quietly. She didn't like the curious stare Emily was giving her and Paul. She turned back to Paul, worry in her green eyes as she shrugged his arm off of her shoulders to keep from overheating, “You have a fever.”
“No, I don’t. I’m just always warm.” Paul reassured her before looking at Emily, “We need to talk.”
