“Gabe isn’t abusive in the show” ARE WE WATCHING THE SAME SHOW???
Gabe is literally introduced by yelling at someone who, when Percy apologizes for Gabe’s behavior, says “I’m walking out, you’re walking in. I should be apologizing to you.” And then Percy reluctantly and slowly walks inside. And Gabe immediately starts in on him (calling him “Genius” in a mocking tone) as Percy repeatedly expresses that he just wants to talk to his mom ( and Gabe’s subsequent “Is that all you have to say to me?”) The fact that he answered Sally’s phone and acted like he had every right to do so?? The way he shows begrudging respect when thinks Percy was violent towards another kid at school?? The “you would think that because you’re a child, you don’t understand things…” The way he gets annoyed that Percy wants to know where his mother is. The “what are we doing Percy? every time! wow…wow!” in such a condescending tone??? Percy’s immediate alarm when Sally calls Gabe’s name. Gabe immediately yelling at Sally, not knowing anything about Percy’s life (he didn’t even know his school’s name despite literally just talking to them), the way he makes Sally negotiate to use the car (“Why am I okay with this?” “Make sure they put the hot peppers on my sandwich please!”) the way he acts like his tone of voice shouldn’t matter to Sally because he said “please” the aggressive behavior even after he concedes to letting them use the car (getting in Percy’s face, pointing his finger at him, etc.), like???
Just because he isn’t depicted as smacking the shit out of them doesn’t mean he isn’t abusive. He is constantly yelling, even when it’s not necessary, and is overall condescending and rude towards both Percy and Sally. He has a positive reaction towards the idea of Percy being violent, which means that he probably has no problems getting violent himself, even if it isn’t show on screen. The fact that he is constantly trying to redirect Percy and Sally’s decision to make himself the center of it (he is trying to goad Percy into an argument when he gets kicked out of school and overall keeps trying to redirect the conversation back to himself, he acts like he is allowed to breach Sally and Percy’s privacy but then makes Sally get his permission to drive somewhere, and even then she has to give him something in return). Like he is very clearly controlling and emotionally/financially abusive (he acts like Sally’s things are his despite not having a job and likely blowing through their money). It also seems like he tries to diminish Percy’s self esteem, possibly to keep him and Sally under his thumb (it’s a common tactic used by abusers to make the victims feel like the need to depend on the abuser). Overall, just because he might not be physically abusing them, doesn’t mean he isn’t abusing them and doesn’t mean his actions aren’t harmful. Furthermore, just because he isn’t violent on screen doesn’t mean he isn’t violent.

Ramblings about the Shigaraki family
So, the past time I was rambling about the Shimura family, the Takami family and the Himura family.
Well, I guess this is the time to remble about the Shigaraki family (as the family of All for One and Yoichi, not the family of Shigaraki Tomura).
PREMISE
In creating the history of the Shigaraki family Horikoshi went as unrealistic as he could get and more. Their backstory is basically a HUGE request for suspension of disbelief on how children, and more specifically newborn, work.
For start the children shouldn’t have survived and, to continue, assuming their survived Yoichi wouldn’t have probably grown that way, never mentioning the framing seems to blame All for One for things that are actually not his fault for no good reason (I mean, there’s PLENTY OF THINGS we can blame All for One for, why trying to do so for things that aren’t his fault?).
So I’ll split this analysis in two, first I’ll put the ‘in reality this wouldn’t have worked’ part, so as to get it out of the way, then I’ll go back to the siblings and re-analyze them pretending all the highly unreal things in their history are, by some miracle or extremely unlikely and unexplained reason, possible.
Mind you, this first part isn’t meant to be a complain, merely a list of what clashes with reality. Mangakas can ask their readers to suspend their disbelief and accept unreal things to happen in their story… the problem is this makes harder for readers to them analyze the characters’ behavior because they can do or are expected to do, what a normal person can’t do and this makes the message the author wants to deliver harder to pass.
Lastly... what follow is just my humble opinion. I'm not Horikoshi, I don't own the truth so feel free to think differently.
And okay, let’s start.
REALITY CLASH
Now… we’re told the Shigaraki twins lose their mother short after being born. All for One manages to steal her Quirk before she dies, which okay, he might have done unconsciously… even though the other times he did so, he seemed to do it with purpose (as he needs to turn on and off his Quirk when he does so) and needing time remaining holding his victim for a while which doesn’t seem the case here but whatever. Quirk magic.
Now… the babies are then left lying on the ground next to their mother.
The problems really start when the flood of the river sweep them away. We’re asked to believe All for One managed to use his Quirk to cling to his mother, remaining on top of her and therefore out of water while at the same time holding his brother’s arm and keeping him as well on top and out of water.
We start with the first problem.
To use his mother’s Quirk to stab her, he should manage to hold his head still as he pierces her… but a baby takes about three months after birth, to develop enough neck strength to hold their heads up. They won't fully control it until around six months. More likely, if he were to activate his mother’s Quirk, he won’t stab her, he would end up pushing himself AWAY from her, never mentioning figure out he has to use it on his mouth and on his right hand to manage to hold on her. Newborn don’t use their mouth to hold themselves at something by biting it (they don’t even have teeth!) but to suck and are still trying to figure out they can grasp things and how.
All for One to figure out he can use his mouth and hand to hold himself and that he can strength his grip by using his mother’s Quirk which he has just stolen and shouldn’t know how it work feels highly unlikely if not outright unrealistic.
Now… a corpse can float as long as it doesn’t fill itself with water. Since it’s raining and the river’s waters aren’t quiet and she has on top of her two babies (newborns weight from 2,5 kg to 4 kg) not only I wouldn’t expect the corpse to take long to fill itself with water but also to be a very unstable raft.
Even if a baby’s grip is pretty strong and Yoichi should weight much less than him, adults on an unstable raft have problems to hold each other… never mentioning this requires All for One to see Yoichi (newborns’ vision isn’t as good as when they’re adults), acknowledge that Yoichi is something he wants to keep, grab Yoichi and keep on holding him despite the unsteady surface he’s on.
But whatever, let’s assume he could do all this.
Babies need to eat about every 2 to 4 hours. How are the twins getting milk? In theory someone should have picked them up and, since society is still in place, brought them to an orphanage where they were cared for. The story though seems to want to imply from that moment on they survived on their own which is… well above a baby’s abilities as newborn don’t even know how to crawl.
Horikoshi then tells us All for One was imbued with hubris and disrespect for others from the moment of his birth and views everything within his reach as his own possession… as if this were a thing that All for One was born evil. Problem is… this is how all the infants see the world and it’s only around preschool age (but sometimes it drags on longer) THEY ARE TAUGHT the world doesn’t revolve around them, as well as to empathize with others. They’re all like that and meant to be taught to grow out of it, it’s not something that’s characteristic of All for One only or of evil people only.
In the scene in which All for One beat people and Yoichi tries to stop him Yoichi is missing his milk teeth meaning he just started being of school age (you lose milk teeth at 5/6) and the two seem to live on their own, meaning they aren’t in an orphanage.
Long story short, when All for One was a newborn being as selfish and egocentric as he could was absolutely normal and since apparently no one taught him that it wasn’t the right behavior, it was unlikely he would stop… and here comes the second problem as… Yoichi instead somehow learnt it!
Yes, it could be because All for One is taking care of Yoichi so in a way Yoichi has someone to act as a caretaker but… All for One shouldn’t even have known how to take care of him, that Yoichi too, like himself needed to be feed! We’re told Yoichi is weak and sickly, this would mean he shouldn’t have survived if not properly taken care of meaning he needed food, staying in a warm, clean place, and possibly medicines and so on. There should be an adult in this story taking care of them in their earlier FORMATIVE years, but there’s no mention of this, to the point that it’s ALL FOR ONE WHO NAMES YOICHI and is aware he’s his sibling and the same goes for Yoichi… who doesn’t give up on his older brother because he has faint memories of All for One’s hand holding his arm when they were newborns and wants to believe his brother’s grip had been gentle and kind. Note that people don’t have memories that date to their birth… and if All for One’s grip had been gentle and kind, Yoichi would have slipped from his grasp and drown. That wasn’t the moment to be gentle but to hold tight but neither baby should remember the whole thing so not only a gentle grip would be unrealistic but shouldn’t be remembered.
Apparently Yoichi has no other nice memory of All for One… even though it’s supposedly All for One who takes care of him because we see him as a kid finding hard to stand so it should be All for One who provides him with food and clothes.
Also, although it’s just an explanation the fact that All for One stole the nutrients provided by his mother while they were in the wombs seems to speak ill of him but Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome is a pregnancy condition that involves imbalanced blood flow between identical twins. The imbalance deprives one twin of the nutrients it needs while providing an excess of nutrients to the other twin and can be fatal TO BOTH. It’s not a sign one of the babies is greedy, it’s a sign the pregnancy is having problems.
All for One has plenty of faults but he’s not born evil due to a pregnancy condition or having the exact same mentality all the newborns have. The framing instead seems to want to paint him as such. Of course there’s the possibility Horikoshi wants his readers to realize this, that the framing is unsympathetic because it’s meant to be unreliable. I don’t know but, for me, it doesn’t really work well.
To make up for it the framing for Yoichi is extremely positive but… Yoichi is actually presented as a fundamentalist Hero, the kind that would make Stain happy with his Quirks can’t be used for personal gain (Heroes use their Quirk to save people but gets paid to do so, hence they get a personal gain. If Quirk use has to be completely selfless we go back to Stain’s ideals of how being a Hero can’t be a job), but he fails at being a positive figure in All for One’s life as he can’t influence him positively in the slightest.
Last but not least, Yoichi claims he’s teaching himself how to read. While it’s possible to teach yourself how to read, generally you need someone to help you connect the written shapes of letters (or, in his case, kana/kanji) to the sounds. If the kids are alone without a supervising adult reading for them, and therefore indirectly giving them help to connect the kana/kanji to the sounds they make and give them reading directions, they shouldn’t even be capable to know in which sense the reading should go… actually it should have taken Yoichi time even to figure out if the manga should have been read in the western or in the Japanese manner because no one was there to help him figure out this or in which order to watch the images and this isn’t always easily intuitive.
Anyway, with this we end the part where I discuss the points in which the past of the Shigaraki twins distances itself from reality to the point it goes from highly unlikely to completely unreal without additions/adjustments Horikoshi didn’t seem to plan to include.
Due to this part I don't know if my analysis can be reliable because I tend to make them according to how the mind, the psychology and the development of people work in reality in addition to what it's told in the story. If the story distances too much from reality... well, I can easily be lead off track in my interpretation so consider yourself warned.
IF WE TAKE THE STORY AT FACE VALUE AND ACCEPT THE UNREALISTIC
The first relevant thing about the Shigaraki twins is that they’re alone in the world from the start, having only each other as company.
Even when they were in the womb and technically were with their mother, she was unaware of their existence and lived an unstable lifestyle which, in a way endangered them, never mentioning she died once she gave birth to them and left them alone in the open, under the rain and in a hostile environment as rats wanted to eat them and the river flooded short after, which yes, saved them from the rats but could have killed them as well.
If in the story this was meant to be a formative experience for the twins (in real life it hardly would be but we’ve discussed this part already so let’s pretend it would), All for One at the start of his life was presented immediately with lack of care and help and a world that’s a danger to him. In order to survive he has to take care of himself, he has to steal his mother’s Quirk and use his mother’s body to survive. As he does so he chooses to also save the other misfortunate creature that was with him from when he had a spark of life, his twin brother.
It’s not like Yoichi is presented as nurturing or caring or helpful toward him (quite the contrary, Yoichi throw things at him when he thinks All for One is doing something wrong and shares with him the fact he’s reading comics only when All for One catches him doing so)… it’s just Yoichi is there, with him, and doesn’t mean to harm to him in a world that either ignores or tries to harm him… and somehow All for One recognizes him as ‘family’. Yoichi is like a Teddy Bear to All for One, in a way he’s his security blanket. Yoichi was his sole companion, the only one in the same situation as he was and, apparently, All for One felt Yoichi should feel and see the world like he does. He wants Yoichi to see the world like he does.
All for One’s mentality of seeing everything else as his own possession, hating those who wouldn’t care for him when in need and wouldn’t provide him with anything is the one of an infant and he’ll never graduate from it… except in regard to Yoichi. Although he still labels Yoichi as a possession, the latter is of no use and provides him no care and yet he can’t let him go nor feel disgusted by him. All for One will label his feelings for Yoichi as ‘love’. It’s clear it’s not healthy love, the one in which you care for the other and asks for nothing back, it’s selfish love, the one in which you think you own the other and the other has no agency in this.
What about Yoichi instead?
While All for One is the one who has to fight for their survival… Yoichi doesn’t. He gets saved by All for One. Where All for One doesn’t have anyone to help him, Yoichi has someone. If we’ve to accept no adult took care of them… Yoichi’s survival was entirely dependent on his older brother (and, later, Yoichi will also get saved by Kudō). All for One is clearly a terrible caretaker as selfish as he is, but he still is Yoichi’s caretaker. Yoichi has better clothes than All for One has (his clothes fit him when All for One has some cloth tied around himself), we see Yoichi as a child can’t seem to be able to move (he seems to be crawling on the ground) so he can’t provide himself for food, which means All for One goes out of his way to search food for him too.
I’ll stretch things a bit and assume that, since Yoichi is weak and is being provided for, this helped him to feel empathy with other people who are weak and therefore, when said people get abused by his brother he feels bad for them and so he didn’t want All for One to hurt them (it usually doesn’t work like that in real life but it happens all the time in manga so let’s assume that’s what Horikoshi is going for).
Yoichi though, is unsuitable as a morality pet (I’m not looking down at him, ‘morality pet’ is the name of a role trope/archetype in tales) who will lead to All for One becoming a good person.
In fact All for One will claim he wants to become a evil overlord because he wants a world that exists for his sake and his alone. Basically no one cared about him when he was in need so he now wants to force the world to do so. His wish is an answer to the pain he felt when he cried and screamed and no one came to help.
He wants to be loved and nurtured the way he wasn’t as a kid (being loved and nurtured is a kid’s PRIMARY NEED and if the kid doesn’t get it, there’s a GIANT size chance the kid will receive serious psychological damage that will carry over to adulthood) but, since he didn’t receive such things, he didn’t even know how to ask for them or what actually he’s looking for. He’s still an infant in a way, instead than trying to become a person that can be loved and nurtured by others, he just wants to impose himself over them the way a newborn wants, making everything ‘all for his sake’.
So All for One wants to identify with the person whom, he thinks, has what he’s missing, the evil guy of the comics whom everyone serves, even if out of fear (talk about comics having a negative formative impact on him). This is his power fantasy, only All for One has power enough he can turn his fantasy into reality.
Yoichi has a different dream, he wasn’t completely neglected, he was (poorly) taken care of but he’s powerless so his power fantasy is becoming the Hero who’s fighting hard against a enemy and will eventually gain power enough to defeat him. The comic is formative for him too, as it gives him the idea good should always prevail on evil as the Hero will eventually win… THROUGH FIGHTING THE BIG BAD.
It’s meaningful that when Yoichi sees his brother hurting others he throws a can to him, attempting to hurt him in retaliation (and only ending up on being hurt back)… where Midoriya, in the first chapter, stood in front of the boy Bakugō was hurting and it’s Bakugō who attacks him. Midoriya focused on protecting, Yoichi focused on attacking.
Now I’m… not sure if this is done on purpose or it’s a flaw on Horikoshi’s part but in the story we don’t have Yoichi giving All for One a single meaningful speech or do a single meaningful thing that could have a chance to move his brother enough to make him change his path. I mean… we get All Might preaching about how Yoichi has a strong sense of justice… but the way all this is shown is merely by having Yoichi refusing to join his brother and giving him moral speech like how meta powers shouldn’t be used for personal gain ( “異能”は私利私欲に使うべきじゃない ‘“Inō” wa shiri shiyoku ni tsukaubeki janai’) and how bad it is that All for One is doing this to fulfill his own personal desires… which is not really convincing to me because:
- in the BNHA superpowers are used for personal gain as Heroes get paid and it was Stain the one who complained against it but the story set up Stain as an extremist, not as someone who’s right…
- the problem isn’t really that All for One is trying to fulfill his own desires (there’s nothing wrong in fulfilling your desires!) but that his own desires are harmful to others…
…and can’t be convincing to All for One because it basically doesn’t answer to All for One’s needs, but just tell him what he can’t do. Yoichi doesn’t tell him ‘I care for you, I want to take care of you, if you were to help people and let them know you they would care for you and help you too so you don’t need to do this’ but ‘don’t do this because it’s morally bad’ even though people around them is using their superpowers for personal gain and acting to fulfill their own desires at their expense. It’s not a solid argument for an ordinary person, for someone who has the maturity level of a newborn like All for One is… well, totally ineffective.
We’ve the same problem when All for One calls there two people and turn them into his allies by HELPING THEM, giving them what they NEED to stop being in misery.
Yoichi’s “Don’t do it…! There’s no coming back” (ダメだ…!戻れなくなるぞ ‘Dame da…! Modorenaku naru zo’) is the opposite of persuasive as those people don’t want to come back, they don’t want to go back as they were, they were miserable as they were, like Lady Nagant they hope that the world All for One will bring will be better than the current one because the current one is terrible to them.
There’s no understanding of what moves others nor the presenting of other better options available.
Yoichi is not persuasive at all, with such words he can’t hope to change anyone’s mind… though I don’t know if it’s a flaw in Yoichi or a flaw in writing (as in Horikoshi believes Yoichi’s ‘noble’ words would move others but they don’t work on All for One because the guy is a bad guy and they don’t work on those people because they’re weak and so they fall prey of All for One).
Anyway, due to Yoichi’s inability to drive his point across (possibly because he is unable to see the needs of All for One and empathize with them so doesn’t know how to respond to them in a way that would move his brother), Yoichi is unable to positively influence his brother. He remains, unyieldingly, in his ‘noble’ position, but doesn’t get a single progress with his brother.
All for One also doesn’t make progresses. He’s vocal about how he loves Yoichi, but doesn’t actually know how to love people because, again, he’s as mature as a toddler. He jails Yoichi, forces a Quirk on him thinking this will help him see things his way, but, even though he actually gives a much better speech than Yoichi, he doesn’t understand him and why he’s refusing.
In a way the twins are similar, they both have a power fantasy and aren’t willing to compromise on it or to genuinely try to put themselves in each other shoes to REALLY meet each other middle way.
In theory it makes sense they can’t, due to their upbringing they weren’t taught to do so, to reach each other midway (which is something very different from what All for One is doing in chap 193), to compromise and find a way to be they both can accept.
Ultimately Yoichi escapes, supposedly planning to fight his brother and All for One ends up murdering him… and then regretting it immediately after because again, his outburst that cause Yoichi’s death is the one of a little child who doesn’t see the consequences of his actions.
All for One saves Yoichi’s hand, he chases what remains of Yoichi in form of his Quirk for YEARS, he hates Kudō who took Yoichi from him to the point he didn’t just murder Kudō but all the women and children who were close to him so as to make sure to end his bloodline, he feels empty inside without Yoichi.
It’s ironic because, even though I think Horikoshi’s idea is to have both brothers love each other, it’s actually only All for One the one who shows his love. Sure, it’s a VERY TWISTED, VERY SELFISH form of  love, in fact, if All for One’s interest for Tenko can be compared to the one of a predator who took a young child and manipulated him into doing his bidding, his love for Yoichi can be compared to the one of a selfish, jealous boyfriend who would kill his girlfriend should she look at someone else.
With this I’m not saying All for One’s love is incestuous, because it’s not represented as sexual (or even romantic) in nature. All for One’s warped love for Yoichi is likely meant to be the reflection of a childhood need, it’s twisted and selfish because it’s comparable to the one of an infant for his mother, not of an adult man for a potential partner.
Now… very likely since All for One is so psychologically damaged Yoichi’s love wouldn’t have managed to compensate and make All for One a normal person but the bad part in the story is that Yoichi is never shown giving him love.
I’m not saying he should have done it when All for One was trying for world domination but, in the flashbacks about their childhood, along with the scene in which he threw a can at him, there could have been a scene in which he… I don’t know, covered him while he was sleeping or cuddled close or bandaged his wounds or something. Instead it seems if All for One hadn’t caught him, Yoichi would have kept from him even the fact he was reading comics.
It’s, I fear, a problem in writing, possibly Horikishi assumed it wasn’t needed to show it because Yoichi is a good person so of course he would love his older brother, it’s just All for One who’s not catching it up and being content with what Yoichi is giving him, and maybe for Japanese readers it’s obvious but… as a western reader I can’t see it.
Yoichi’s love instead is hardly depicted. Yoichi is this paragon of virtue that wouldn’t yield to him but… he’s not shown giving him (brotherly) love, we’re only told he wouldn’t give up to him due to his wish to picture All for One held him gently when they were newborn. I’m confident he loved his brother because that’s what’s socially expected of him, so Horikoshi likely gave him this trait despite how Yoichi can’t forgive what All for One did but… it’s not really something the story digs into, in a way Nana shows more care for Tenko than Yoichi for his brother. Again, possibly is a narrative problem, All for One is meant to be the ultimate evil so Yoichi has given up on him, we’ve to be satisfied with him dying, if his brother were to weep for him we might feel bad… but still this doesn’t paint Yoichi as a brother who, at a certain point had loved All for One, we just have a box saying something along the line but no visual proof.
Yoichi will go and develop attachment for his saviors, Kudō and Bruce, and for Midoriya, who represents the perfect Hero Yoichi believed in (and, likely, for the past One for All users), where All for One can’t really attach to people, not even to Tomura whom he raises to be similar to him (he leads Tomura to kills his family by accident and rage, in the same way he has done with Yoichi, and All for One gives him their hands same as he was holding Yoichi’s hand, and raises him into his beliefs telling him it’s okay to kill people) and who loves and respect him. To All for One, Tomura is just his next body. For him his ‘friends’ are all ‘expendable’, which includes Machia and, likely, Garaki. None of them can replace Yoichi. None of them can provide him with the love and care he needs to satisfy his soul. There’s probably no way to provide him that, his idea if he were to have Yoichi back he would feel fulfilled is likely doomed to fail, he can’t fill the black hole there’s inside his soul, if he were to have Yoichi back he would delude himself he’s happy but he would still crave for more. It would never be enough because it would never be healthy.
Yoichi instead… doesn’t need him, he’s satisfied with dying as a Hero. Yoichi is focused on his goal and while his goal is a good one for humanity… it remains a power fantasy for Yoichi to feel fulfilled all the same… which, I fear, is a flaw in writing. Probably Yoichi needed to be developed more, instead than remaining a stereotypical representation of noble ideals, he needed someone to dig more in his humanity, in his flaws, so that he would feel more human and less Mary Sue… but, I guess, there was no space in the story for this. Yoichi, as well as the other All for One’s users, aren’t really that important in the story, Yoichi is more like a plot device, the one who creates One for All and the one who gives a motive to All for One to chase the One for All users, instead than a character.
It’s probably also due to this that his reunion with All for One at the end of the story feels weak.
All for One has learnt nothing, he’s still the same as he were at the start, but he’s also desperate to have Yoichi back, he begs Yoichi to shows himself to him… but Yoichi basically shrugs it off, he’s more interested in praising Midoriya for offering them a final salvation… and with them I’ve my doubts it includes himself and All for One but I think he includes himself and the One for All users (‘Kyūsai’ 救済 means “relief; aid; rescue; salvation; help”… but also “salvation from suffering based on Buddha's teachings” meaning they finally might stop being trapped in between life and death and move on) who get to punch and destroy All for One fulfilling their lifetime goal and then can finally stop being vestiges. Yoichi also claims he couldn’t guide his older brother but again we stumble in the old problem. His effort to guide him was hardly shown and there is little regret in his words. Where the Todoroki family tried to stop Touya but also was there to express their love for Touya, Yoichi just seems interested in stopping All for One, no love involved.
So in a way it’s ironic, differently from the other families I looked at, here there are no parents who damaged their kids or pushed their values on them… but just two siblings who failed to love and support each other in an healthy way. One focused on becoming a noble person, the other decayed into a terrible person and, while in a way everything can be traced down to blame society (they were left without a caretaker with the world being in chaos and anti Meta mobs hunting people) the story really doesn’t focus much on this.
In the end, Midoriya’s final words about All for One being just a lonely man (‘sabishi’ 寂し meaning “to feel lonely” “to miss someone”) seem to miss the target. Midoriya knows nothing about All for One and his real problem wasn’t just he was alone (as he’d been bad even when he had Yoichi) but that he was ‘unraised’. No one raised him, cared for him, taught him to be a better person from when he was an infant. This caused him to become unable to establish healthy bonds with others and, therefore, to develop a healthy way to live.
So yes… he’s lonely because he doesn’t have Yoichi or anyone else… but that wasn’t his problem. Society has abandoned him instead than teaching him to care and so, as a result, he never learnt to do it.
Of course, due to the framing, it can be that this wasn’t what Horikoshi aimed to represent, it could be that he just expected All for One to learn those things by himself like Yoichi did… even when it’s normally not how it works. But well, this is a story so he can go as unreal as he wants.
So well, I guess that’s all for the Shigaraki family, which, in hindsight, wasn’t really that developed and, if Horikoshi hadn’t written those flashback chapters, I guess I wouldn’t have tried writing about it.
I hope you’ll forgive me if this isn’t as deep as I usually write this sort of meta but, not only there was little material but part of the material was ‘too unreal’ to make a realistic psychological evaluation of the characters and their motives… or just too vague so I tried to do my best but I might as well have failed. Many apologies for it and thank you for having read this piece till now.

Johnny Hcs
Warnings: Talks of murder, cannibalism, kidnapping (it’s Johnny what were you expecting?), and describing his dick, let me know if I missed anything <3
Have some more of Johnny 😈
*Body*
Stands at 6 ft and 2 inches and weighs 200 lbs (canon) and it’s all muscle. Muscular but not to the point where it’s too much I think. Helps him get peoples attention so he can lead/kidnap them back to the house and overpower people easily
Shows off his muscles subtly and makes it look like he doesn’t mean to do it, it just
happens(he does mean to)
The only fat he has on him is his ass and thighs
I’m joking I’m joking (I’m not)
I’m surprised he’s not as tan as I would expect, he’s kinda pale?? Might be just my lighting but he’s not tan at all
Has scars all over his body. Got quite a few scars from fights whether from victims or when he was a kid. I hc that he wears the gloves because he burned both his hands pretty bad and I think it was because he was doing something stupid (like holding a firecracker and letting Sissy light it)
Speaking of hands, big. Nice long and semi thick fingers? Doesn’t like it when people look or touch them. I think it’ll take forever til he’ll let you and if you say something that he finds odd, you won’t ever touch them again.
He probably won’t let you paint his nails 😭 it’ll take a lot of convincing to let him paint his nails and if he does?? Makes you do black only at first then maybe blue if he sees that if makes you super happy and he gets some sort of “payment” *wink wink hint hint nudge nudge*
He pretty much takes care of any injuries he gets by himself. Just washes with water and bandages it up. Does okay with stitches if he needs them? But his hands shake a bit so it’s not really neat
I feel like his hair is greasy and thick. It’s only soft when he blow dries it, the softness only lasts for a day though. Doesn’t like when people touch it but he lets them to make them more comfortable and so he can bring them back home. It looks dark brown to me so that’s what I’m going with
If he’s in a relationship with you? first of all how did you manage that?? And secondly, he  might let you play with his hair after a good while but I wouldn’t count on it and only if he’s serious about you
Kinda has good hygiene? Like, he showers and brushes his teeth because nobody wants stanky breath and BO but he’s not the cleanest
Has a lovely arch nose <3 I can imagine the Reader pulling on it as a way to mess with him 😩
Has very pretty brown eyes <3 and very nice eyelashes if you ever seen the tcm petals
Dick talk (lmao)
I personally think this man is packing. A little over 7 inches, very thick and but not too veiny. Fills you up nicely but it does sting sometimes when he doesn’t prep you enough (or at all)
Curves a bit to the left <3 and I’m sorry but he has hairy balls (he has to, he has the energy)
Has a big bush, man does not shave and will not. Might trim it a bit but doesn’t put any effort into it.
Also doesn’t mind a bush or body hair on any partners either surprisingly, since they can’t really afford razors he’s used to everyone not shaving at all unless he or Sissy steals it for everyone
Has a nice happy trail too😩 it’s not a lot but it’s noticeable. Goes a tiny bit about his bellybutton and it’s the same color as his hair. Hairy legs too but his arms aren’t really that hairy. He has a bit of a stubble too <3
*General*
I heard someone saying that he’s the youngest?? Normally Bubba is the youngest?? Johnny has to be old enough to go to bars so I’m going to say he’s about 25-26
Motherfucker snores like a train. Sometimes he takes snoring if he hasn’t fallen asleep yet just to catch victims escaping
Pet names I think he would use (if you surprisingly ended up with him) are: Sugar, Darling, Princess/Prince, Sweatpea, Sunshine, Baby Doll, and I really think he would also use Precious.
“Ain’t you so precious.” Then mf bites you, slaps away and runs laughing like a manic
He tries to give you a hug when he comes in all sweaty from working outside (he smells don’t let him)
Definitely has a type (it’s you bestie, you’re his type)
Like with the tcm petals thing, he can’t sneak very well because of his keys(at least I think) He also sounds like he stomps everywhere he goes😭
Probably only wears jeans and t shirts. I can see him dressing up a bit for going out but nothing to fancy
I think someone in the family has to have some type of job, Johnny is the only one who works along with Cook. (Haven’t watched the movies but I plan too I just don’t wanna pay 😭)  I can’t really decide on what he would do though, maybe a mechanic? Plumber?
( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
I do think he likes to fix things, any problems with the house? He’s on it. A hole is in the roof? Just give him a couple of days, he’ll get it done
I’ve seen a few people say this, he’s favorite part is the thigh, and I completely agree
Does know how to cook but unfortunately it’s people💀
He does hunt/fish a lot too so he can definitely cook em up
I can imagine you’re trying to escape and you pass by the garage and he’s just skinning an animal that’s up on a hook and then notices you😟
Anyways-
I don’t really think he’s all the suave?? He’s kinda a meanie tbh😭  But I think it’s all just an act to get people more comfortable with him, he’s just doing what he’s seen on TV
I truly believe he’s a giant goofball. A big meanie goofball who’s also a narcissist and very manipulative
I feel like he played pranks a lot as a kid but he’s pranks were setting something on fire or throwing a victim’s underwear in someone’s face instead of y’know, normal shit?
He will bite you and draw blood just because he thinks it’s funny. I personally don’t think he’d use his knife on you though, that’s only for food
Very competitive and will come up with the stupidest “challenges” just so he can show he’s better. Poor Bubba is forced into them😭
I can’t decide if Johnny is older, younger or around the same age as Bubba T^T
Probably does some woodworking too. Makes a bunch of different from birds to flowers to trying to make a replica of a persons face he likes
That’s all I got for now😭 I’m sorry if I messed some info up but these are my hcs for our babygirl Johnny :3 Hope you enjoyed! <3

I'm so sick of this. Trans men could be fucking like "lets have a discussion about unsavory attitudes or actions within queer communities when it comes to gender" and a bunch of fucking people INCLUDING OTHER TRANS MASCS are like "wooooooow cant believe youre attacking TRANS WOMEN like that this is obviously bigotry. after all theyve been through?? I am going to assume this mild criticism is about trans women (which you never said it was at all even once) and THEN tell you that because transphobia exists any disagreement with a trans woman means you want her to be HARASSED. I can't believe you think harassment is okay. also even though trans women are poor victims (I am speaking on behalf of all trans women) who you arent allowed say anything in opposition to (I think trans women are defenseless and attack people based on the idea that any criticism is trying to ruin their lives) (don't you know its impossible for a trans woman to ever be treated with respect or have a good life ever and in fact they are all doomed to being treated horribly?) (this is me HELPING trans women by the way I'm an ALLY) and trans men are the problem and somehow even though we're all in the same community Poor Trans Women are so oppressed they would be RUINED by disagreements (I am speaking on behalf of every trans woman and I know not a single one wants to have an interesting discussion about oppression or gender) this is me being an ally btw I could never be transmisogynistic by talking like this. also somehow transphobes check what type of trans you are, if youre a trans woman they hate you and if youre a trans man they say "yay you're a man" and treat you wonderfully because if youre a man youre always treated well no matter what other types of oppression you might face I think of this as being progressive.
Sorry for the long rant(?) I have a lot of thoughts. In summary: some people see themselves as such trans woman defenders that they a hundred percent loop around to infantilising them by implying its too hurtful to have a conversation. I've seen this exact type of behaviour as a trans man when it comes to misgendering. someone slips up and instead of being like "oops I mean he" they go some equivalent of "oh my gosh im sooooo sorry i cant believe I did that to you you probably feel miserable have I ruined your day oh my goodness dont cry ill make it up to you I know you have now become an emotional wreck from the horrible thing I did to you im sorry im sorry im sorry I just need to make sure everybody can hear how HURT you are by one misgendering" this is an example of how "being an ally" loops around to calling you fragile and a literal baby. They make it worse even though theyre "on your side" by implying you cant handle anything and they have to "fix it" because you just would collapse immediately at something maybe affecting you.
On the one hand, I understand where a lot of this is coming from. Trans women do get harassment campaigns started against them for small issues. It’s best not to resolve real problems with specific transfems in a public forum. So many have described the feeling of transmisogynistic hypervisibility as a panopticon and that very much applies in these discussions.
But trans women also aren’t made of glass. And they aren’t immune from making mistakes and causing harm. Making posts that contradict some trans women’s understandings of transmasc oppression is not transmisogyny. Pointing out that something they said or did was hurtful or transphobic is not transmisogyny. People act like this is how you treat trans women with respect and it’s very much not. This is not being “normal” about trans women. They are human beings who yes need some extra care and protection but are also capable of talking things out instead of collapsing into dust at the first sign of criticism. I know not all trans women like being treated this way in the slightest. I hope we’ll be able to find ways in the community to still uplift their voices and mitigate harm done to them without putting them on a high pedestal or shielding them from all criticism and intracommunity discussion that does not go their way.

I’m gonna try and make my point again but on anon bc worried of harassment if Certain People don’t agree.
the christofascist themes in warriors I’ve only been able to notice because they align pretty well with patterns I’ve noticed in my own life. clan life (and starclan) HAS to be the only way for cats. it has to be accepted willingly, or forced upon the “lesser” groups (see, atheist or simply non christian) or they will be destroyed in some way. chased off their own land, killed, assimilated, etc. the clan cats are colonists just like eropean christians. see, squirrelflight’s hope. why does no one challenge the clan’s ideas that they are entitled to land, any land, that would benefit them? even if other cats live there? because they aren’t christia- I mean clan cats so they’re lesser and their lives are expendable. see again, squirrel flight’s hope.
I know the conflict of that book that everyone remembers (other than the abuse apologists and kids who don’t understand) is bramblestar abusing squirrelflight for 464 pages (and then getting her sister killed but he’s a man so it’s okay), but the glaring problem is the author’s bias on people different from them. there was absolutely no reason the only cat loudly protesting the slaughter of expecting mothers and children was the protagonist. and she was treated as though she were in the wrong, and punished over and over again in this book alone. remember they hate squirrelstar and her ideals. heinous, genuinely. and there wasn’t even a good resolution to that! moonlight died! the sisters had to leave! and then helped them in the next arc! what the fuck! anyway
one will note how christians are known to refer to non christians as “wicked” “evil” “dark” “lost” or other terms to make it pretty clear they think less of you for not sharing their faith. the clans the same. even through uncontrollable circumstances such as birth you are shamed in this society and downright humiliated on a good day, attempted murder on a bad one (stormpaw, featherpaw and stonefur)
and the victim mentality the clans have along with the paranoia that they are constantly at risk of being wiped out despite there being like 30 cats in their fucking colonies at all times. there is always a war on christianity. there is always a fight the clans have to win to survive. they always have to kill someone else, lately someone minding their business, to survive. they have to impose themselves on other cultures because they are the True way of life and they never have to be confronted with the idea that they are just as flawed if not more than their counterparts. and if they are, conveniently their opposition is killed off or written to submit later on proving them right. I will not include bloodclan and the kin in this because they were legitimate threats, even if in a way they were also caused by clan culture.
the most glaringly obvious example of why I believe warriors and christofascism overlap outside of the need to force themselves on everyone, is the inability to question anything without severe punishment. you cannot question god without threat of eternal damnation or being ostracized from peers and even attacked. you cannot question starclan without threat of eternal damnation and the same. even when there is no logical solution but to admit that they’re wrong and cruel and just as petty and dangerous as the dark forest, in the end the lesson is that you should listen to starclan, never doubt, never question, or you will be punished. and there is no hope for redemption even if you offer yourself to be used.
that is the issue I have. and it’s a very obvious one that I’m sure I’m not the only one who says something about it, but depending on where you live, I live in southern america, it’s not hard to see parallels. do I think it will ever escalate to the severity of reality? no. probably not ever. but the fact that I can see it is what worries me.
again not very well written, and I even got anxious towards the end so my apologies if it’s hard to follow or too sloppy! just wanted to share my thoughts even if people don’t agree.
This is really interesting, thanks for sharing!! I thought it was pretty illuminating, as I'm someone who's never heard of the term Christofascism. I don't know enough about Christian discourses or the subject at hand to commentate too much unfortunately, but I really appreciate your taking the time to write this out for me. If you're interested in expanding this further, I'd actually recommend looking into some texts on decolonization, as a lot of what you wrote hit on points similar to that (in my opinion of course).
I'm not really the best person to asks for texts like that so I'm gonna link you to communistkenobi's reading recommendations on the subject.
edit: missed it so thank you to cicadaclan for pointing this out but i'd argue against the separation of bloodclan and the kin in this. bloodclan are literally written to be godless outsiders who hate families. the kin are the continuation of the evil outsider intent on destroying the clans. the kin, whether or not they were a threat, still fall into the evil outsider trope.

Cult Division 4
Part of this series.
“Vlad,” said Maddie.
“Maddie,” purred Vlad.  “What brings you here today?”
Maddie repressed the desire to curl her lip.  “I am informing you that we’re exhuming Phantom’s body, following the activities of the unidentified cultists last night.”
“Oh, but, Maddie, only family members can do that.  And unless you and Phantom are suddenly family members…”
“Don’t give me that,” said Maddie.  “I.  Know.”
Vlad’s expression soured.  “Yes.  Quite,” he said flatly.  “I am aware.  However, unless you want to make your relationship with the boy public, there’s nothing I can do about the law.”
Maddie, having anticipated this, slammed a piece of paper down on the desk.  “You won’t have to,” she said.  “The law is very much on my side for this one.  Municipal Ordinance 10776.  Investigative professionals registered with the city can request that any grave be exhumed.”
(Investigative professionals here meaning ghost hunters.  Not everyone had the kind of open-mindedness as the average Amity Parker, and although a ordinance against summoning ghosts could be laughed off, things like this tended to be taken a little more seriously.)
“Request,” stressed Vlad.  “Requests, by their nature, are not automatically granted.”
“Maybe,” said Maddie.  “But when word gets around about the cultists, and it will, people will start asking why we aren’t investigating.”
“Is there even anything to investigate?” asked Vlad, putting on his fake innocent act again.  “Goodness, I thought the cultists left the memorial intact and undisturbed.  Are you saying I was misinformed?  Or has something happened to poor Daniel?  I’m sorry, to Phantom?  It really is fascinating that they both have the same first name.”
They glared at each other over the mayoral desk.
“If I have to,” said Maddie, “I can always reveal you.”
“And I’ll deny everything, or reveal Phantom.”
“Not your ghost half,” said Maddie.  “Your continued sexual harassment.  There might not be enough of it to get you arrested, but there’s certainly enough for some interesting headlines.”
(She could also just wait for the police to get a warrant from a judge, but figuring out how to word it without saying anything about ghosts, cultists, or other things that would make outsiders overly curious took time.)
“You wouldn’t.”
“I would.  Jack would be upset, but if it's for Danny, I think he’ll get over it.”
“Very well,” said Vlad, who looked like he’d swallowed a full box of spiders.  “I will approve your request.”
“Thank you,” said Maddie.  “I–”  Her phone went off.  Relishing the chance to be rude to Vlad, she answered it.  “Hello?”
.
“Kidnapped?” Maddie Fenton repeated again.  “How?”
“Er,” said Collins, drumming his fingers on the wheel of his car.  This was not the best place to have this conversation, but there weren’t a lot of better options, so…  “The normal way, I suppose.  Someone broke into the house and took him.”
“Through Jack?”
“That’s something we’re investigating.”  Jack Fenton had been found passed out near the front door, and was one of the reasons they’d been called in.  Apparently, bright orange hazmat was visible.  Who would have thought.
“But,” said Maddie, “you think Danny’s okay?”
‘Okay’ was probably an overstatement.  An overstatement at best.  They hadn’t found any major organs or limbs strewn around the house, but there were signs of a struggle, and kidnapping victims were, as a rule, never okay.
Also… Collins made the decision to not mention the bloody backpack.  Some things mothers (and potential suspects) were better off not knowing.  He was fairly certain it wasn’t Danny’s blood on the bag, anyway.  He almost felt bad for whoever kidnapped him.
Almost.
Whoever those people were, he doubted they were aware of even a tenth of what Danny did for Amity Park.
“At this point, he is most likely still…” he hesitated slightly before the next word, “alive.”  He wasn’t convinced anything could kill Danny.  The kid seemed invulnerable, for all intents and purposes, and even as a human, he could do incredible things.
Maddie made a strangled noise on the other side of the line.
“We’d like you to come down to the station,” continued Collins.  “Keep your phone on and with you.  It’s possible you’ll be contacted for ransom.”  Possible, but highly unlikely.  The Fentons were well-off, but not to this degree.
“I don’t have time,” said Maddie.  “I have to look.”
“We’re looking.”
“You aren’t ghost hunters.  It’s almost certainly a ghost that took him.”
“There’s reason to believe that is not the case.  Mrs. Fenton.  Maddie.  It’s possible that you saw or heard something important before you left or earlier this week.”
Maddie was quiet on the other side of the line.  “You think I had something to do with this?” she asked, a thread of danger running through her words.
“Not as such, no.  This is just– this is just procedure.  We need to look into everyone.  We’re talking to Jack, too.”
“Is that why you think it was humans who did this?”
Again, the reason for that was more the bloodied bag, but, again, he wasn’t talking about that.  “Go to the station and you can ask him yourself.”
“Are you not at the station?”
Crap, what had he said to make her think that?  “That’s–”
“You’re still at Fentonworks, aren’t you?”
“No?” said Collins.
Maddie hung up on him.
Great.  She was on her way and she’d be on the warpath.  He hit redial.
“Hello?” said Maddie, in a way that told him that she hadn’t looked at the caller ID and that she was considering what he’d said about ransoms.
“Look, Maddie, I know you were going up to see if you could get permission to exhume the body.  Could we– If you go to the station, we can get that started right away.  We have the equipment ready to go, the medical examiner is ready.  Everything is ready.”
“You–”
“This is a crime scene, Maddie.  You can’t be here.”
“It’s my house.  And my son.”
“I know, I know.  We care about Danny, too.  But he’s not here.  You can’t help him here.”
There was quiet on the other side of the line.
“Fine.”
.
“So,” said Paterson.  “You went to the door and… what, again?”
“I already told him,” said Jack, who was sitting on the back of an ambulance, getting poked and prodded by an EMT.  “Can’t he tell you?”
“Sure,” said Paterson, glancing sideways at McGee, “but can you run me through it again?  For reference?  Sometimes, we remember things better the second time around.”
“I went to the door, and started feeling dizzy, but I opened it up - I shouldn’t have done that.  Should have realized that something was wrong.  I opened it up, and there was this duffel bag there.”
“Do you remember anything about the duffel bag?”
“It was taped over in weird places.  Patched.  Uh.  It might have been blue?  Or green?  But after I saw it, I just passed out.  I don’t know what it was about it that made me pass out.”
“Oxygen deprivation,” said the EMT.
“What?”
“Right, you said I wasn’t breathing before, so–”
“Which was caused by oxygen deprivation.  You show all the signs.  Whoever it was that did this must have released a huge amount of nitrogen or something similar into the area immediately in front of your door.”
“I didn’t feel like I couldn’t breathe, though.”
“You wouldn’t.  Our reflex to breathe is triggered by the presence of carbon dioxide, not the absence of oxygen.  Without rescue breaths, you would have died of asphyxiation.”
“That’s a thing?” asked Paterson, scrunching her nose.
“Yeah,” said Jack.  “You can’t really work as a scientist without at least hearing about it.”
“People have died from it before,” said the EMT.  “You’re probably going to be fine, you were found fast, but you still need to go to the hospital.”
“But I need to find Danny.”
“They wouldn’t have stuck around,” said Paterson.  “We’ve already got everyone looking for Danny.  Amber Alert and everything.”
“Do you think they did the same thing to Danny?  The nitrogen thing?”
“It would have been in the house, yeah,” said the EMT.
“Okay,” said Paterson, “so we should look for someone who bought a whole lot of nitrogen tanks or something?  What do people even use those for?”
The EMT shrugged.  “Science, I guess.  You ready to go, Mr. Fenton?”
“Alright,” said Jack.
“Hey, wait,” said McGee, “I’m not done yet–”
“Then you can come talk to him at the hospital,” said the EMT.  “George!  Come over and help me!”
The EMTs packed Jack into the ambulance and drove away.
McGee stared after it, tapping his foot.  “Do you think these kidnappers were able to revive Danny, or are we going to be looking for a corpse?”
“Don’t say things like that,” said Paterson.  She’d already seen Danny’s corpse once, after all, she didn’t need to see it again.  “It’s bad luck.”
.
Danny woke slowly.  He felt unpleasantly bruised, for one, and for another, the last thing he remembered was getting kidnapped, which was generally not a precursor to happy fun times.
He peeled open eyes that felt disgustingly bloodshot, and looked around.  There wasn’t much to see.  The room he was in was small, clean, and bare, and he was lying down on a bed.  Someone had even tucked him in.
Creepy.  Not that kidnapping wasn’t creepy in and of itself, but this was especially creepy.
He struggled to sit up, and discovered that he’d been wrapped in a kind of improvised straitjacket.  Several layers of blankets were wrapped around him and held in place by belts.  He strained against them, but unfortunately whatever the cult from the other night had done was still holding strong.  No powers for him, not even a little bit.
And Danny didn’t even know why these people had taken him.
His legs were still free, so, with a little extra maneuvering, he got up and walked around the room.  The one door didn’t even have a handle.
He was stuck.
His mouth suddenly even drier than it had been, he swallowed.  He was stuck.  Trapped.  Hadn’t even figured his way out of this frankly embarrassing ‘straightjacket.’
The door opened, and Danny stumbled back, overbalancing and thumping into the wall.  Severa masked figures walked in.
“Oh, he’s perfect!”
They came in, crowding him.
“Back off!”  Danny kicked out, but he was at a bad angle, and the first of the mask-wearers was able to get close enough that Danny couldn’t do anything other than try to bite, which didn’t really work if the person you were trying to bite was holding your face.
“Just perfect.”  They tilted Danny’s head this way and that, and Danny couldn’t pull away.  “Age, of course, is important, but appearance, too.  I hadn’t realized…”  They fell to muttering.
Danny’s eyes flicked from mask to mask.  They were plain white plastic with the eyes blacked out with some kind of fabric.  Simple, but effective.  Danny didn’t know who these people were.
“Yes, our sponsor was right.  You’ll do perfectly.  Perfectly.”  They patted Danny’s cheek.
“Sponsor?”  Danny didn’t want to interact with these people at all, but he needed information.
“I know you must be so frightened.  We would have tried a more peaceful way, but those ghost hunters…  They would never see reason.”
The other mask-wearers shifted, grumbling.
“The number of times they have assaulted our lord–  No, no, we had to get you somewhere safe.  After all, you are to be the host for our lord, Phantom.”
Well.  That.
What?
He stared at the masked person, uncomprehending as they waxed poetic about Phantom’s - his - virtues.  Many of which Danny didn’t have.
“... honor, to be chosen, and an honor, too, to be here to witness.  But, of course, you’ve asked after our sponsor.  He asked to meet with you.”  They ran their hand through Danny’s hair, which was just.  Bad.  “Yes.  We have followed his word for some time, and he has never led us wrong, you know.”
Danny didn’t know.  And he didn’t want to meet this ‘sponsor’ they were talking about.
“He’ll be coming soon,” said the masked person.  “You’ll talk, and then… then we prepare.”
The masked people filed out of the room and closed the door behind them.  Danny futilely tried to open the door, in case they hadn’t closed it properly.  Frustrated, he sat down on the bed.
Another cult.  A different one, too, if he knew anything about cults, which was not a sentence he’d have expected to say before he became a half ghost.  Worse, not only was it another cult, it was another Phantom cult.  What part of his behavior as Phantom made people think he wanted cults?
Superman didn’t have to deal with this.
Superman was fictional.
Maybe he could use the walls or the edge of the cot to shift the belts around, and from there he could use the buckles to… pick the nonexistent lock on the door.  Right.  Not likely.  Maybe he could do something to - no, the hinges were on the outside.  At least, he could use them as a weapon, probably?  Maybe–
Danny’s ghost sense went off, and he tensed.  He wasn’t ready for a fight, but he was ready to be a pain, assuming this ghost was involved, and make a plea for escape, if they weren’t.
A ghost phased through the door.
Danny hissed.
“Plasmius.”
“Hello, little badger.”

hi! i've no idea how i came to your page but i realised i'd read two of your one-shots in ao3 before and had adored them (you'll probably get comments from me in future, btw) and i just wanted to say thank you for your writing and thank you for your prongsfoot<3
i've been very critical of this sort of new, cool and aloof and martyred version of remus lupin for quite a while now (honestly, where did all those traits come from?!) and gosh, you're so eloquent when talking about him!!!
i was wondering what your thoughts were on regulus black? because i think he's getting the same sort of royalty treatment as remus does by making him sort of-- er, perfect? i mean. i've seen so much recently of him basically saving the world single-handedly and i-- ugh. and james is always just there, like a useless idiot? it makes me irrationally angry, and this is coming from someone who enjoys jegulus quite a bit. my problem is that i don't know if this rejection i feel against those two comes from a place of genuine dislike of them or from a place of wishing sirius and james were not done so dirty.
anyway, again, thank you for your writing. it's truly beautiful. hope you have a great day!
omg hello 🥺 i’ve periodically opened tumblr, giggling like a loon, and logging off multiple times just to see this ask,,,,thank u sm , ur way too kind <3 and ur comment on ao3!!! i was just,,,,yeah,,,no words. thank u.
ooooooh i remember being asked something similar a while ago and i took the safe route and basically went ‘remus lupin-ification of regulus’ iirc. that still stands. but but. i’ve also got another answer here! all hail tumblr’s search system today!
i still basically stand by all of it, but adding onto the jegulus + sirius bits of it:
annoys tf outta me when regulus is turned into a victim and like sirius damned him to hell when he left . i have thoughts about the way both of them were treated (which,,,another time,,,this post is already getting too long lol) but i imagine the day sirius left to be a Good One for reg bc he thinks he’ll have his parents undivided attention now. i also think regulus is severely defanged in a lot of characterisations, as if he wasn’t a baby DE, as if he wasn’t a slytherin from the house of black, as if he wasn’t walmart sirius black. like man i’m almost offended on his behalf. i’m sure his shaking his lil fist up at us from wherever he is.
with jegulus…okay, i’ve only read a couple oneshots but that doesn’t mean i haven’t tried. i genuinely went thru so many fics trying to get something, anything to stick and i think the problem is me. fully. completely. without doubt. i just can’t deal with a situation where j&s aren’t each others no.1, or at the very least, equivalent to that. that’s where my issues w wolfstar started, same w this. jegulus also has the added horror of ‘james and reg sneaking behind sirius’ back’ which is just,,,,gosh,,,,i have So Many Thoughts ab that. all personal opinions, but still. they’re strong. it fucks me up just thinking about it. i also think the ship tries wayyyy too hard to fit the ‘best friend’s brother’ trope and ends up sacrificing characterisation for it. which,,,again,,,that’s fine but it’s all the ‘oh this is how it was!’ that gets to me. and then james :/// he gives off such weird energy lol. jegulus gives me drarry vibes, and james is treated almost exactly as harry is in a lot of those. reg also gets the saviour treatment, like draco, and both of their fuckery is toned down until they’re almost normal, like they never did any reprehensible shit. j&r, and d&h are placed on the same moral equivalence and it’s just a bit. hmm. okay. (my issue with this is how it leaks into the writing and suddenly i’m made to sympathise with draco bc harry slashed him w sectumsempra, but we conveniently forget he was gonna use an unforgivable, ykno?) so overall it just feels…pushing reg up and pulling james down to get them on equal footing. very similar to wolfstar lbr.
anyway. that’s a ramble and a half lmao.
also!! ‘a place of genuine dislike of them or from a place of wishing sirius and james were not done so dirty’ in my mind, both of these occupy a similar plane of existence. so very valid. for me, personally, hating remrem started as the latter and i eventually realised it’s also the former lol i was just mad a how sirius is bastardised to justify his ~deification and it eventually moved on to ‘wow i just. do not like him’. damn.

PART 2: NOLPATS BURNER ACCOUNT
Link to part 1: (X)
*Bare with me for some spelling grammar errors, also if you have more info or have picked up something I've missed feel free to let me know.*
HERE WE GO AGAIN FOLKS!
So obviously it’s been quite an event for nolpat nation these past couple days… and it’s very evident people are aware of the burners and have been following or interacting with it.
If you aren’t aware @ gollpatter is the first acocunt that was inactive for a bit before it was suspended/locked, and then @ shottergallas was the secondary account…
So after I guess by the saving grace of god??? He ended up regaining access back to his first account that had more of the the problematic tweets, likes and questionable followings.
This was his first tweet he posted after being back on the account… which also is now deleted. #lolz
Tumblr media
WHAT DOES PAT OLIVERIA MEAN?
Okay so obviously his name is Pat Oliveria on his main and some are probably confused or thrown off by it. My assumption to the name is... obviously ''Pat'' is part of his last name and well-known nickname and ''Oliveria'' was most likely taken from the Brazalian MMA fighter Charles Oliveria... and we all know how much he loves MMA.
ACCOUNT PRIVATING
The account actually went private for a moment and then went public again… then also decided to unfollow a specific group of people *cough* all the obvious friends and some influencers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pretty much any tweet that people would interact with the account would get deleted. Which I think most of us have already witnessed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is some other tweets that have now been deleted. (X).
MUTUAL BURNER ACCOUNTS
After this all went down some of his mutuals went private (some have unprivated now) and even one deleted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A notable mutual user that deleted is (@ basket_458462). I think not many people saw what went on, on that account… since It deleted pretty much after 1-2 days after the burners were under fire… you thought anything was bad on the NP burners, this one was 10x worst lol. NP off (@ gollpatter) liked a good amount of tweets off there page, pre much all pertaining to WJC 2018, and weren’t the greatest takes either. The Basket 4 page was pretty active interacting with stan twitter.
Though literally all those mutual burners hold very debatable content and most of it? Well you guessed it! It’s all pretty much red pill, zyn bro misogyny.
The Basket 4 account was just a different breed and every tweet or like was constantly victim shaming and blaming the girl involved in the WJC 2018 incident. Probably explains the profile picture too… yikes.
Just thought it was funny how some decided to go private or delete, which shows to me they’re aware of what’s going on.
NOW ONTO THE SUSPICIOUS? OR JUST COINCEDENTAL INSTAGRAM ACTIVITY?
!!!!!!!! I WILL BE MENTIONING HIS PRIVATE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT PLEASE DO NOT BE THAT PERSON AND TRY TO FOLLOW OR INTERACT WITH IT !!!!!!!!
Maybe a big coincidence but NP started unfollowing people off his main ig account just about a day after shit hit the fan, though this is pretty common for him to randomly do mass unfollowings just found the timing to be ironic.
If some of you were aware he has a private finsta account. He had the username that went by @ gollasperoutdoors and then changed it to @ youngglasp. You're able to see how many times the user changed their user and how long they had the account for, the username was changed 5 times throughout the past 4 years. He changed the username to the account about 2 days ago... he's most likely had the user (@ gollasperoutdoors) for a hot minute as well… don't know why he decided to change it now... also changing the clearly evident nickname of his to just “glasp”.
I also kind of have a theory that one of his finsta account usernames at a point in time was probably @ gollpatter (the same as his twitter)… You aren't able to view their old users, but I just thought about it since it's been changed multiple times... though impossible to prove because most of us probably don't remember his older finsta users or even knew he had one to begin with.
NOW WHY HASN'T THE ACCOUNT DELETED? WHY HASN'T IT BLOCKED ANYONE? WHY HASN'T IT TWEETED IN DAYS?
It’s pretty obvious and simple to why the account has done none of those things and is limiting/stopping activity.
If the accounts started blocking evident hockey stan twitter accounts or accounts that interacted with them, deleted high volume of tweets especially the problematic ones, went private or deactivated. It would fully be more evident that we are most likely right on our assumption on who’s running it and that they’re fully aware on what’s happening LOL.
Also probably another reason why the account unprivated so quickly + tweeted a bit even after getting called out is because whoever is running it most likely wanted to play it off… Even tho the deleting of directed tweets + unfollowing specific known friends and influencers and other activity was already enough for most to throw the guilty charge.
To tie things up I don't think the accounts will delete anytime soon or even at all and will just slowly be abandoned. I guess the one smart move on his part was that the account wasn't under his actual name and there isn't a definitive way to prove its him unless you know details about him, so it's not clockable to the general public. (Shout out to the anons for this part!).

Lloyd’s Crystalized character
So I’ve seen a couple of posts about Lloyd in crystalized, particularly about his behaviour towards Garmadon in contrast to Harumi. I agree that it’s weird at first glace, but when you look into it I can see some logic behind it.
Here’s the thing; whenever he’s talking to Harumi he want her to do better. He wants her to change. He wants her to turn good and be happy. I think the main reason he is so adamant to do so (aside from questionable hormones), more so than with other villains, is because in part he really does blame himself for what happened to her. He still blames himself for unleashing the serpentine and letting her family die. He blames himself for failing to stop the snake (we all know he has an unreasonably strong sense of responsibility) and he probably blames himself for not finding her in that rubble and for letting her help the Overlord before he got a chance to talk her out of it.
Now, whether he is to blame for these things (he clearly isn’t) and whether these feelings are justified (most of them aren’t) is a different story. But in true Lloyd fashion he most definetely would blame himself here, at least a little bit.
Then when he’s talking to Garmadon we see something different. He becomes cranky, moody, agressive and inconsiderate. He ignores reason and what he knows is true, main example how he knows Mystake was good.
Now why would he do this?  Because this seems to be the one case where he doesn’t hold himself responsible. He seems to be considering himself the victim. And let’s be honest, as a child with an absent and destructive father, whom he thought was off to who-knows-where without giving a shit about him, he almost definitely is.
Just think back to march of the Oni for a second, okay? That was the same Garmadon we have now, no sensei to be found. Lloyd worked with him for a day, and what did he do?
The plan he was sure of failed (not G’s fault though). When Cole died, he brushed it off and didn’t care one bit. He explicitely told Misako how he didn’t care about her anymore. And in the fight? Lloyd saved him from a one on one with the Omega, yet when Lloyd literally died he just noped out and dissapeared. In fact, hey canonically had zero contact in between that scene and Crystalized!
And now, during a giant crisis Lloyd not only finds out that his father knew it would be coming but kept sending weird vague hints to them instead of just telling, but also that the man that has been missing and wanted was just- living, in the city? RIGHT THERE? WIthout a care in the world, ordering pizza and taking giving more though to a plant then he ever did towards his son? When it had clearly been established multiple times that Lloyd was sensitive about the issue? I mean, just look at the way they talk about him in Questing for Quests and then while deciding who could be the fifth villain. It is clearly a sore topic and his friends make sure to treat it with care.
Not to mention the way he acts when they do see him again. All he does is force Lloyd to do something he is clearly uncomfortable with, something that has layers which all need to be adressed. Instead Garmadon is yelling at him and criticizing everything he’s doing. Yes, we as the audience know that that’s the point of the Oni form, but to Lloyd?
His distant father figure, who serves as a reminder of a man who once cared, even when that man looked like this, is now trying to tear into every bit of selfesteem and certenty he had.
All those things considered, he has a right to be pissed.
The main difference in these two cases is that in one he really believes he made a mistake which ruined someone elses life (which is honestly only justifiable for the releasing snakes thing) and really wants to make up for it. He considers himself the problem, and wants to take responsibility by helping his victim through it. In the other case he considers whatever is left of his father the problem. And the problem takes zero action to help his main victim, Lloyd. he may be trying to better himself, but his main victim really got the short end of the stick here.
Sure, considering himself a victim to the point of not giving Garmadon a chance to help other people for once is selfish. But Lloyd really is allowed to be selfish for once. I’m not saying any of his action are right, neither for Garmadon nor Harumi, there’s a lot to be said about both. But from a character standpoint?
When you actually look at it for a bit, through Lloyd’s eyes and with his mentality and urge to help everyone, it makes perfect sense.

A lot of my old Muffins things keep getting likes, so…
I need to clarify… I don’t support the author and over the years I haven’t… I mean, seriously… I just like Muffins, because it’s nostalgic for me. I first discovered Muffins in 2015, and listened to ‘The Revenge Of Obsidian Pie’ and a bitta ‘Broken Tiara’. It began my interest in writing, well, probably didn’t begin, but certainly advanced it. I am pretty sure my brain development was a bit… fucked up though by it. I revisited the series in 2020, or 2019, don’t remember.
I only began Muffinsposting in 2021, mostly shitposts between friends, but I never really clarified my stance on whether I support the author, so that’s what this post is. No, I don’t. Do I believe she deserved any harassment she got? No, absolutely not, and shame on you if you did harass her. Do I believe she deserved any criticism she got? Absolutely. Please don’t witch-hunt her. She’s already struggling mentally, so let her recover. She can be held accountable for her actions, but accountability doesn’t include going to her platforms and harassing her. So, I’m gonna explain why I don’t support the author of ‘Muffins’.
I’ll highlight in red the important things. Everything else isn’t that big of a deal, or isn’t as important as the red things.
Here is a post where she makes some… interesting confessions. (2019) (tw: animal ab*se)
Wordpress:
No, I won’t recount every time she has insulted, threatened or spread lies about people because it’s practically every post. No, I won’t recount every time she has justified Lonnie. No, I won’t recount every time she has demonised NPD despite being mentally ill herself. No, I won’t recount her vents about her mother because why would I? She can vent if she wants. No, I’m not including her 1000’s of dream posts.
Scroll to the part where it says ‘now, I wouldn’t have a problem with her being ugly’ and you will witness excellence. (2011)
This one isn’t really a big deal, just kind of… threatening a kid? (2015)
“Muffins is good because it’s popular” (a sentiment she holds to this day) (2016)
“I’m not hostile…” she says, making *this* post (2018)
People being worried and trying to be kind is apparently the worst sin ever (2019)
“People hate me, and it couldn’t possibly be because I did anything wrong ever” (2019)
She dated a 14 year old when she was 18. Make of that whatever you want. (2020)
Okay I’m not sure what to make of this… but you should read it and form your own thoughts (2021) (tw: grooming)
Forgot to add this. LOL
Be careful looking through her Wordpress, she posts a lot of SH photos there.
Twitter:
Her Twitter is deactivated so there are no links to anything that could be proven. So I won’t include anything here.
Deviantart:
Accuses someone of faking being trans because they don’t like the word tr*p (2018)
Speaking of… (2019)
Oh hey, I forgot to link this (2016, cw victim blaming)
YouTube:
This. This whole thing. She is cis.
This whole video, and the thumbnail. Pisses me off.
The infamous LAR. (24:51-28:35, roughly.)
Doubles-down (6:47-9:17)
Like yeah I don’t have the energy to track down every awful thing she has said or done, but these are the ones I remember. Well, I remember a few others… some are really bad and not discussed much but I can’t find them, and others are so trivial they aren’t worth discussing.
I’m not gonna say she is guilty of everything she’s been accused of. A lot of people don’t know what happened so I’ll summarise: in 2019 or 2020, this guy harassed Reitanna on Twitter over wanting to lose weight, and proceeded to make 93, yes, 93 videos about her. Is that okay? Was Reitanna wrong for that? No. But the thing is that she hardly ever rants about how what he did was wrong, instead she’s been attacking the same few people over the years. Look, it’s not that I’m close minded. Of course I wanted the author of my childhood inspiration to be a good person! I’ve read a lot of her Wordpress, I’ve seen almost every LAR of hers (including the one she forgot to put behind a paywall… it was weird…), and I even watched that incredibly long video she released after her attempt. And she doesn’t debunk anything. She just says ‘I can’t lie it’s my code of honor’. Like? That’s not an argument? And ‘oh if I was such a bad person my husband would’ve left me ages ago’ like literally just logical fallacies, trying to guilt trip people and not taking responsibility for her actions. She doesn’t show any evidence against these claims. Maybe in her video against the hot box she does, but I haven’t seen it. It’s age restricted and I am not going to give Youtube my info. <:(
From what I’ve seen on her DA and YouTube, and her Reddit post about ‘am making amends’, the only discussion she is open to having is one with no criticism (her words, not mine), and it seems from her other interactions you have to step on eggshells around her, beg for forgiveness and be REALLY kind. Being ‘civil’ in her mind is being over the top polite. What she cited as ‘proper criticism’ was someone saying ‘this part of your art is great and all but maybe you could change this? only if you want to though, it’s really nice it can just be improved.’ (Paraphrasing). Like criticism doesn’t have to have any kindness in it, it just has to be contructive. And even rude criticism could be valid, as much as it sucks, horrible, vile people can make valid points. And really kind people can have bad points. It’s better to ignore, or act calmly around people. If you show the internet that you are prone to lashing out, people will try and provoke you more. I’m not saying the solution is to not be rude ever to anyone, but if she wants people to assume the best of her when she comes off as rude, why can’t she do the same for others? She also seems to think that everyone who criticises her or believes in the criticisms levied against her were ‘manipulated’ or intentionally malicious, as if there’s no in between. I truly wonder if some people are incapable of self-reflection or trying to look at things from an outside viewpoint.
I like her work. Muffins, as flawed as it is and as… straight up bad it gets near the end, is fun. It’s goofy. Encephalon/RF is a hit and miss for me. Ride With Me and stories like it are cool… Hard Candy is uhh… okay… Pushed Too Far is disgusting, Evelyn’s Clone is fun and cute… everything else is hit or miss. Diary Of A Serial Killer is goofy and some of the methods are unrealistic or impossible but from what I’ve read it’s… eh. Madeline? Good read, enjoyed it thoroughly. Domination? Not so much… The Black Warrior? I read the first chapter and man it was kinda uh… how would one say, interesting? apparently she has a comic called PWF? Idk, I only seen one episode of Invader Zim cuz I can’t find the rest but I’ve heard ZaDr is like, frowned upon for some reason, idk.
I just wish she would learn to see things from other peoples perspective. She struggles with SH, and recently admitted she wants to be sedated and such… but can’t understand why addicts can’t quit. She has bipolar, but accuses her critics of having npd as an insult? Granted, people trying to armchair diagnose her are just as bad… other stuff as well, just… yeah. Oh, she’s also the embodiment of r/iamverysmart but like… I don’t really care to be honest, her bragging about her intelligence isn’t as big of a deal as ‘that’s your fucking fault, you moron’.
Some people took criticism too far, but she acts like that’s everyone. It isn’t. I have never commented on her platforms. I have never followed her platforms. I never even made a post on the situation until now. And that’s only because I want to clarify something. I have only spoken publicly about Rei on three occasions: now, on an amino post, and in a comment on a YouTube community post about the bakers becoming alicorns, which wasn’t even a negative comment, but me stating it was probably a sarcastic comment on the creators behalf. (I hope it was anyway.) But yeah. That’s all this post is. Back to regular shitposts. Will I post more Muffins stuff in the future? Maybe. But from now on, I’m going to be pretty clear about my stances. I mostly just Umineko post nowadays though. Anyway, swaggggg…. I’m out.
Oh, she also hates furries for some reason? Idk I feel like she never grew out of anti-sjw cringe culture ahah. Tbf I don’t really “get” the furry thing… but yeah. She’s a Scorpio guys, it’s okay. It’s like how I should be able to lash out on who I want because I’m an Aries! And it’s okay that my ego is up my ass because I’m a Leo rising AND… the other sign… is it Sun? I don’t care. The fuck do the other signs mean anyway? How do I calculate my ‘Venus sign’?
Oh yeah. She also said the t slur not knowing what it was, and claimed intoxicated SA is not SA. For the record, I don’t plan on updating this post often. I just feel like these two are reallllyyy messed up and that I should include it.

I honestly have no fucking idea how I went to college for 4 straight years full time without dropping out. Undiagnosed narcolepsy and adhd, unmedicated, I spent multiple semesters not even on antidepressants, or worse, on ones that made me violently ill, had a month-long bout of a stomach disorder I didn’t even know I inherited from my dad, spent half that amount of time in an abusive relationship, plus a ton more of vastly complex and out of control interpersonal drama, like I barely survived at all tbh but I somehow managed to get a degree? And 3 fucking minors? By the time I was 22? I barely attended some of my classes, people were so used to me falling asleep in the hallways that they’d just step over me and put my coat on me like a blanket, I only passed a couple of classes because I cheated on exams and broke down in the professor’s office and they pitied me, but I fucking did it?
Like, if I went back and time and did it all over again, only this time properly medicated and with a real support group, I would probably have a fucking 4.0, be in 5 clubs, did that crazy double major I joked about, and my life would be so unrecognizable. I’d be in a PhD program right now at some prestigious university and… okay, let’s be real, I probably wouldn’t be making more money than I am right now because I’ve seen what they fucking pay grad students, but that’s just insane to me, how differently my life could have turned out. Or maybe it wouldn’t be different. Maybe it would be the same, or maybe it would even be worse. Like, I’m dating a milf who’s 9 inches taller than me, so maybe this is the best timeline.
Yet, it’s kind of… both funny and depressing to know how fucked I get right now if I don’t have my meds, even if I’m not in a depressive episode. I can barely function without them. I’m asleep more than I am awake, I can’t focus, I have no energy, and if I go more than just a few days without my antidepressants I have full-on mental breakdowns and am borderline-suicidal. So, this of course means 1 of 2 things must be true. Either I wasn’t this fucked up in college, and my disorders must have worsened over time, or I was this fucked up and still forced myself through a degree. The second is probably the most likely, to be honest. And you might be thinking, “Ash, can’t you just remember and compare your symptoms?” You have to understand that I was so unbelievably stressed at some points that huge chunks of time spanning weeks is permanently locked away in my Repressed Memory Vault, and I was also a victim of gaslighting from someone who very much wanted me to believe I was crazy, but also was incredibly adamant I did not receive help (hence partially why I was undiagnosed and unmedicated). My memories aren’t really all that reliable, and the other thing is, I thought the narcolepsy part of it was normal. Or, well, that I was just lazy. I didn’t know what narcolepsy was beyond dramatizations in tv shows. I didn’t see my symptoms as symptoms, and therefore, I didn’t really keep track of them, if that makes sense.
All this to say, I think wishing my life turned out differently isn’t healthy and leads nowhere. I still ruminate on it from time to time, but it’s less from a depressive angle and more because I’m angry as hell that a lot of people failed me in my life during that time period. I should have been diagnosed and medicated, god knows I’ve seen enough therapists and doctors. I should have had a friend that would have helped me get the fuck out of that relationship sooner. I should have had more people supporting me and taking me seriously. But things turned out this way, and I gotta make my peace with that. I might be in a “better” place if things went differently from a certain viewpoint, at least career-wise, but it could be worse in other ways I’d never know. I need to put my energy into making sure the life I’m actually living is the best possible one for me. That’s all that matters.

S4 fights a strain whose power is to turn any nearby abandoned area into a haunted one. Strain traps them in one and the closest house happened to be Fushimi's old house. They are now being haunted by Fushimi Niki.
You know what this means: time for some ghost punching! Imagine Fushimi and the alphabet squad are chasing down a Strain with an annoying power to turn any abandoned space into a haunted one. I just imagine the squad totally not enjoying this, like they’ve already cornered this guy in two different abandoned buildings and Hidaka is getting really tired of ghosts trying to make friends him with him while Gotou congratulates him on being so attractive to spirits. Fushimi considers this just a stupid illusion, ghosts aren’t real and he’s probably just toying with us. Enomoto nervously mentions that one of the buildings did have a murder occur there and the ghost they saw looked like the victim, Fushimi scoffs because the Strain probably just read the same news story.
Eventually they manage to herd the Strain near Tsubakimon, which is when the Strain ducks inside this huge mansion. The squad pause and Fushimi starts to snap at them like what are you waiting for go get it but then he goes suddenly quiet, looking up at the building. Akiyama asks if everything’s okay and Fushimi clicks his tongue and says it’s fine, let’s go in. As soon as they enter the room goes cold, a sign that the Strain is using his powers. Everyone is surprised that Fushimi seems to be finding his way around easily even though the building is so large, but when Benzai tries to ask Fushimi just clicks his tongue in response again.
Suddenly they all hear this sound, like a ghostly laughter, and Fushimi freezes. Hidaka asks if anyone heard that and Fushimi snaps at them to keep walking, clearly suddenly on edge. They go a few more rooms and imagine as Doumyouji is bringing up the rear suddenly a chandelier falls and almost hits him. He yells and jumps out of the way and they hear it again, that same gyahaha laughter. Hidaka wonders if it was the ghost and Fushimi says there are no ghosts, this is an abandoned building. The voice gets louder, laughing again, and saying ‘My little monkey brought friends! Let’s play, let’s play!’. Fushimi’s gone even paler than normal but when any of the squad try to talk to him he just clenches his fists and yells at them to be quiet and do their jobs.
As they walk through the house imagine everyone constantly getting in danger, like Enomoto is going up the steps and one suddenly gives out under him and only Fuse’s quick reflexes keep him from falling, or Kamo looks into the kitchen and suddenly knives and forks are falling from the ceiling towards him. Hidaka angrily says it’s like someone is playing awful pranks, Fushimi gives this grim laugh like ‘yeah. A shitty sense of humor.’ Hidaka suddenly realizes that all the ‘pranks’ have happened when Fushimi’s nearby and he starts to say something but Fushimi tells him again to shut up. As they walk through one hallway they pass a mirror and Hidaka freezes, Fushimi asks what the problem is and Hidaka quickly says ‘nothing,’ though he’s sure he just saw a second Fushimi in that reflection, one without glasses on.
They manage to corner the Strain in this one room, which is smaller and looks like it could have belonged to a child once. As soon as Fushimi steps in the place suddenly lights up with flames and there’s that laughter again, higher and higher asking if ‘my little monkey’ is having fun. Fushimi just yells ‘shut up!’ as he throws a knife, the Strain tries to dodge but Fushimi just dives right through the flames and slams the Strain against the wall. Abruptly the power starts to fade, but everyone sees this momentary glimpse of a grinning man who looks like Fushimi murmuring ‘Sa-ru-hiko~’ before he fades away. Hidaka pauses and is like ‘Fushimi-san…was that….’, but before he can get the words out Fushimi mutters at them all to get going, there’s no reason to be in this house anymore.

you don’t have to answer bc this will probably cause discourse lol
i honestly don’t understand how chrissy can be with someone like jason yet people ship her with eddie. like you can’t argue that she didn’t know about all the names that he was called and probably thought them too, since she was afraid/nervous around him in the woods during the drug deal. it’s a small town and even smaller school, you can’t tell me that she didn’t think the same things as jason did. she just had the chance of seeing that he’s actually nice one time and it was during a drug deal.
imo everyone just wants to see themselves as the only pretty, white, thin girl who is available to ship eddie with. if chrissy was black or asian or fat then she would not have as many fans or people feeling sorry for her (in the show and irl). same with Eddie tbh but that’s a whole other can of worms that people on here aren’t ready for.
i probably would’ve liked her character better if she was woc or fat tbh but then tumblr would shame her or ship eddie with nancy instead lol
I'm answering this because a) discourse is okay as long as it's friendly and respectful, and b) because I'd like to offer my own perspective on Chrissy since she's a character I can very much relate to.
First of all, as I said, that's only my opinion but I would have shipped her with Eddie regardless of her outer appearance, body type, ethnicity or even gender for that matter because I see the potential between those two and because I see Chrissy as a character very differently than you do.
I don't mean that as an offense, but you shouldn't generalize the reasons why people like Chrissy or ship her with Eddie; they don't owe anyone an explanation for that and some people, myself included, relate to her for a whole array of deeply personal reasons (and I mean that with shipping completely aside; let's focus on Chrissy as her own character here in this reply).
What I see when I look at Chrissy is a young girl who's hurting because she's forced into a corset of conformity that suffocates her with every day. Her abusive mother and her surroundings have taught her that perfection is what matters (we clearly see that in her Vecna vision, in the facade she's putting up at the pep rally during Jason's speech - the smile never reaches her eyes, they're hollow and sad) and it's literally killing her long before Vecna strikes. She struggles with an eating disorder. Her thinness is the sign of a severe mental illness that kills people in real life. She's a victim of abuse, and she's killed in one of the most brutal, horrendous ways possible. I'm only talking about Chrissy's specific case here, not the general problems of racism and fatphobia in fandom and irl because that would be far too complex to address correctly in a single post - but we, the audience, were meant to feel sorry for Chrissy, and the reasons why many of us do are, again, varying. Personal experience, relating with her struggle etc.
Chrissy is drowning - and I can assure you, as someone who's walked in her shoes, that in her situation, you're in constant survival mode. And Jason being a narcissist doesn't help her situation, but more on that later.
you can’t argue that she didn’t know about all the names that he was called
Yes, Chrissy knew Eddie was being called a freak. But if we see one thing very clearly in the woods scene, it's that she doesn't think of him as that, and that she doesn't treat him as such - and never did because if she had, you can bet that Eddie would have taken way longer to warm to her. Compared with, for example the talk between Steve and Eddie in the UD where Steve doesn't exactly try to make Eddie comfortable or reciprocate the attempt at finding a common ground but instead subconsciously makes Eddie, once again, feel like a freak for his interest in heavy metal, the woods scene shows that Chrissy doesn't view Eddie as a freak, at least not in a bad way because her reaction to Eddie calling her the Queen of Hawkins High vs a Freak is like day and night:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This whole encounter in the woods, regardless of whether you ship them or not, clearly shows us one thing: Chrissy is deeply unhappy, and I'd even call her desperate because she holds on to Eddie for dear life because...this stranger she doesn't even know is the only one she can open up to knowing he won't judge her because he's already a freak. The situation reminds me a bit of Jack and Rose in Titanic tbh, or Belle and The Beast. This concept is indeed as old as time, storytelling-wise.
You can see her performative fake smile at the rally:
Tumblr media
vs her real smile with Eddie:
Tumblr media
I said it before: Eddie and Jason are the embodiment of two very different values. Jason stands for forced conformity and the very real danger of being bullied or worse if you don't conform; Eddie embodies being yourself and knowing your worth even if others don't see it. You can read about that here.
and probably thought them too, since she was afraid/nervous around him in the woods during the drug deal
She was very clearly nervous/afraid because the second before she met Eddie, she had the second absolutely terrifying hallucination in a single day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now tell me, after that: wouldn't you be nervous/unsettled as well?
Eddie clearly thinks she's scared to get caught first (and tries to calm her, telling her that it was a safe place and nobody would ever come out there to catch them dealing), then he thinks she's scared of him - that's why he tells her he'd go and that it wasn't a problem. To which Chrissy says: "No, it's not that - I don't want you to go." and then she opens up to him because who else does she have to open up to? Jason? Who doesn't see her fading away further with the mental illness that's slowly killing her?
Chrissy was never scared of Eddie. (else, she would've never come to his trailer, but I digress).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The constant pressure to be perfect Chrissy faces at home, by her mother, the comments on her weight we see her making in the Vecna vision: Chrissy has been raised to believe she needs to be flawless and perfect and (since we're all human) Chrissy knows she can never be flawless and perfect, never be enough. It's constant failure, she feels inadequate and her self-esteem is very low because of it no matter that she's the Queen because she knows it's a mask and it's tied to the terms and conditions of being perfect - and being Queen puts her in a spotlight, a constant danger of people realizing she's not perfect.
It's a constant feeling of losig control, and she gains a sense of security and control in the only way she knows how: controlling her weight and her hunger. That's exactly how EDs are developed. (A widespread, very harmful misconception about EDs such as Bulimia Nervosa and Anorexia Nervosa is that those suffering from it hate people who are overweigh when in reality, it's not about weight, they hate themselves because the unattainable standards of perfectionism they were taught to adhere to cannot be attained by them. I say that as a psychologist. Those suffering from EDs are victims of unattainable standards of beauty and perfectionism as much as people who are overweight (I'm only talking about beauty standards here, not about society's reaction. I'm very much aware that people with overweight face fatphobia - they're both victims of the same system; the difference is that those on the underweight side of the spectrum of it "fit" better with the norm and thus are spared the treatment those on the overweight side of the same spectrum sadly have to face).
And that's why she's with Jason, btw, a study-book narcissist and master-manipulator. When you're struggling, especially with a low self-esteem, you fall prey to people like Jason and the sense of security they give you, their status can give you, or simply because you don't feel you deserve better.
Chrissy is running for her life long before Vecna gets her.
Again, you're perfectly entitled to your opinion on Chrissy, just like everyone else. And just like you did in your ask, I'm offering my own perspective on her as a character.

I’m honestly a bit amazed with Rowling.
In the sense that people have said that her “trolls” need to stop bringing up the “trans issue thing” when it comes to everything Rowling does and how that’s unfair of them, and that one “opinion” of hers doesn’t capture everything about her or what she’s all about.
But yet, Rowling is the one who brings it up every time she can.
According to this Rolling Stone article, in her most recent book, The Ink Black Heart -
She has a character who is a popular YouTube creator whose fans have turn against her and have accused her of racism, ableism, and the dreaded so-called transphobia. The creator is doxxed, subjected to rape and death threats, all for ‘just having an opinion.’
According to this article, they think this book clearly has a specific aim against Social Justice Warrior and it even suggests the character was a victim of a masterfully plotted, politically fueled hate campaign unfairly against her.
I just…
if you don’t want people to focus on the whole “trans thing,” why do you keep bringing it up? Why do you keeping doing shit like this?
I’m not saying, if she never talks about it ever again, people are just going to forget about it (though honestly a lot probably would).
But Rowling seems to be incapable of not talking about it. Of not being enraged by her fans for “turning against her.” Of not being upset about no longer being seen as a progressive woman and beloved author who fights against the tyranny of others. Of not feeling like she’s the victim of all this.
And don’t get me wrong -- being doxxed, receiving rape and death threats is no joke. That is awful. That isn’t okay. That isn’t. Don’t fucking do it.
I just; even when someone is being hateful or bad, and you believe the “deserve it” - In my own personal view, that’s a slippering slope. Yes, things don’t just equate each other and there is nuance and differences in certain areas of life (most of it); but also you’re creating the argument that sometimes it’s okay for this kind of behavior, which might feel ridiculous, but it doesn’t take that many steps of “therefore it’s never a bad thing” or “well, I hate this person and their views, so it’s okay when I do it, but bad when someone does it to someone I think doesn’t deserve it.
Maybe people just don’t deserve to be doxxed, or be sent death or rape threats.
And I don’t know.
Look, I’ll admit it’s hard for me to be sympathetic at the supreme court or Marjorie Taylor-Green for getting doxxed, but I just…
Maybe it’s not about what kind of people that are and what kind of person I want to be or think a good person is.
Just because someone is a bad person doesn’t mean something bad happening to them is justice. I don’t know fucking know. I have mixed feeling about some of this shit, because I don’t think you get to impact real people and their lives with actual laws and public presses and your huge platforms – but then call foul, of your own personal and “real” life being negatively impacted.
But also,  don’t send people death or rape threats. What the fuck. Don’t do that. Please don’t do that.
Why do I have to even say this. Please don’t fucking do it.
However, not to undercut myself and that last point – which I cannot stress enough is very important and should be yielded to --
Classifying all of this as you being hated and attacked for just having a different opinion…lessens what you’re doing or your own hateful views. Which makes sense, in the fact that you don’t view your own views as hateful or wrong.
That doesn’t mean they aren’t.
But it doesn’t look great for Rowling that, that’s the same argument the alt-right and racist, antisemitic, and overall hateful and prejudiced people make all the time – when there are consequences for their actions.
It’s the idea of -
“How dare people judge me for having the simple harmless opinion that certain people are simply lesser than and therefore don’t deserve the same rights as myself or others. How dare YOU make me seem like a hateful person, when I express my hateful views. You’re the intolerant, hateful person for not tolerating my intolerant hatred of a group that is subjected to large amounts of violence and harm.”
-
Also, and this is really the thing that just leaves me totally flabbergasted. I don’t think I would gone into this nonsensical rant, if not for this.
Apparently, Rowling is claiming that this is not at all, in any shape or form, in response to her own experience nor meant to be seen like that.
Because she wrote and finished the book long before certain things happened online.
She even says she told her husband, that she was worried people were going to see this as a response to what happened to her, even though it absolutely, totally isn’t. Not even slightly.
So, clearly, we know she’s telling the truth - because she’s now currently saying she was a bit worried that, people would get the wrong idea, months and months ago. She just said it privately to her own husband and did nothing to change the plot of her book - despite the fact that I find it hard to believe that the big, famous author JK Rowling wouldn’t have the power to do so.
And it’s like really? Really Rowling?
I mean come on.
Sure, sometimes in life things happen in a way where it looks bad or that two things that are legit unrelated looked to be connected or caused by one another. And that’s simply not the case.
Sometimes, it is all just a bad coincidence or awkward timing; but I can’t believe that’s the case here.
I just can’t.
I mean come on, Rowling.
I mean seriously…
How stupid do you think people are?
I just…
I don’t understand the logic behind that.
A part of me feels or questions how someone could write a character like that and then say it has nothing to do with what they’ve gone through, despite it literally being more or less your own story, but framed with how view the situations and tweaked so the self-insert character is made to be the clear victim.
I can’t help but think, maybe that means she isn’t lying. Because surely, she wouldn’t think people are that stupid. Surely not.
But, honestly nowadays people do lie nonstop about things we know to be lies.
They can just claim it’s “fake news” or haters being haters and their fans and defenders will stand by them. Because it’s not about what they say or are doing, it’s about defending them (and to be fair, for some, it’s also just about attacking).
I mean -
A couple who are currently defending themselves against being called racist or having racist views, had a press conference where they stated they are absolutely not racist and would never be racist, and have never held such beliefs and to call them racist, is the other person, trying to obscure the real issue at hand or whatever.
But in that exact same press conference, the wife admitted to having a secret, racist twitter account. But that doesn’t mean she’s racist or anything, because all she wanted to do was explore the freedom of being someone she’s not.
She’s totally not racist person, she just wanted to be able to be a racist person online, but that doesn’t mean she has ever held racist views....
(my head hurts)
Blake Masters in Arizona is claiming he’s never had strong, hateful views on abortion and you can check his website if you want to. As though his campaign didn’t change it. As though there aren’t interviews or recordings of him saying all that hateful awful shit.
--
In the end
I think Rowling wants attention, the publicity, and for the people who still defend her, to have something else to defend her on.
Or maybe, just maybe, no one would have cared about her new book, if not for this controversy, that is just oh so inconvenient for her.
I mean truly it’s so inconvenient that there are now a bunch of articles about her new book. I mean, I now know she has a new book out and even the name of it, despite not knowing that two days ago. And look, now you do to because of this post.
Or maybe, just maybe, it’s also because a lot of these books haven’t been all that well-received or reviewed.
There has been a lot of good things said about them. But also, when it was actually not known she was the author of the books, for those first few months (I might be wrong about that) - only 1500 copies were sold.
Which I don’t know if that’s good or bad for a brand-new spanking author who is coming out with their debut novel/series; but I do know that’s bad for someone like JK Rowling, even if she’s not going by her own name.
And isn’t it so interesting and such a true shame, that an anonymous tip let it out that she was the author.
That, Times arts editor Richard Brook, who decided to investigate this mysterious author, because he just had to know who they were really were and whether or not it was JK Rowling or not, apparently, he himself said
‘Nobody who was in the Army and now works in civilian security could write a book as good as this,’”
Isn’t that such a great review for a book series you’ve never heard of, that doesn’t sound like a review or a promotion. Just an honest to god opinion.
And look maybe he did really say or think that - and if he wasn’t part of this whole thing (I don’t know if he was and I’m too lazy to look it up), let’s be real he wanted to investigate because it was JK Rowling who was said to be the author. Not because the book series was so amazing, he just had to know who it was.
Because her name has clout. Because her name is a brand at this point.
That even when she says she didn’t want these books of hers to be part of that brand, that brand also gives her a lot of benefit of the doubt and high-praiseful reviews.
And look, I loved the Harry Potter books growing up. I adored this series, for so many years. I reread the fourth book so many goddamn times, my parents had to take it away from me so I would do my actual homework.
And look JK Rowling built that brand up, with no name recognition beforehand.
So, I’m not going to say she’s not a good author or I don’t think she’s not capable of writing good stories.
But, also - maybe she thought she would get that same recognition for her writing alone with her name unattached to it and when it didn’t happen, or in the short time she thought it would, she let it spill she was the author.
And look this is all coming from a Vox article I just read from 2018 (x).
They themselves admit they didn’t like JK Rowling’s first adventures into mature, adult writing. But they felt the same passion and love for this new series as they did feel for Harry Potter from Rowling.
Which doesn’t really tell me if the series is good or not. But I don’t think this person in 2018, hated the series like they did for first mature-adult book she had out in 2015; but I also don’t know if they truly think the series is that amazing on its own.
And this again, is all back in 2018.
All of this stuff really started to happen or honestly blew up in 2020.
2020 is when she started to get a lot of criticisms for these new books.
Part of it, probably was because some people feel like it’s okay to critique the great JK Rowling and they won’t receive backlash for doing such a thing, or some people never liked her so they were more than happy to jump on the train that is finally (from their POV) starting after they’ve waited for years for others to catch on, and some just want to hate her to hate her.
And some probably didn’t like the series, because they didn’t like it or think it was good.
--
Maybe, just maybe because this book hasn’t been well reviewed and because people are rolling their eyes at this self-insert character and it’s part of their bad reviews –
JK Rowling wants to be able to say her haters are making it look like she wrote a bad book, because they don’t agree with her on this minor issue and how it’s unfair, she’s being judged nonstop for this one-opinion.
And it’s just oh so unfair that people keep bringing this whole “trans issue,” even when it has nothing to do with the current subject at hand – like her most recent book, where she literally has a self-insert character (or one that absolutely looks like that), who is unfairly and brutally murdered after they’ve gone through a massive hate campaign where they were accused of racist, ableist, and transphobic views.
I just...
I don’t even know what to tag this and I’m too tired to review or grammar check this.
--
Basically, I think JK Rowling has put herself in a corner, where she can’t get out of it. Or at least not without seriously reflecting on her own actions and facing the reality of the situation and her own hateful view.
Because the tactic of not talking about this stuff didn’t help (which she did for like a hot second) And I have to imagine she did feel trapped and cornered, so she dug in her heels and started to fight back. She didn’t like being called bigoted so she fought against that, because that’s easier than actually wondering or even admitting you have bigoted views.
I think it would be hard for someone who has been so widely adored and praised like she has - to genuinely adjust to such a large backlash.
I do think JK Rowling believe she is standing up for women’s rights. The real ones, not those men pretending to be women (as she would say)
And is surprised to find, that people find that to be insulting or not the current way people feel about it. Because what was once progressive 20 years ago, isn’t considered progressive nowadays.
For instance, saying gay people should be allowed to marry the person they love, even if they are of the same gender or sex - isn’t the radical position anymore. It’s really the normal one.
And that’s good. Right? I feel like that’s good.
We want, what once were thought to be radical opinions, such bold and progressive ideas, and to look back and be like...why the fuck was that radical? Why was this ever an issue?
And yes, there can be a problem with not knowing your history.
The best example because of how recent it is in the grand scheme things of things and shows how quickly people forget. Is that we shouldn’t be mad at The Legend of Korra for ending way it did and try to say it was only putting the airs of being progressive without being progressive. And instead keep in mind, that was progressive. That was amazing for so many people.
That’s how bad things were. Two female characters and their relationship being only confirmed by what feels like nothing by today’s standards - was radical and amazing for so many people, because they’ve never seen that on screen before. They never felt seen before.
And because of that, other shows were able to build on top of that more and more.
Basically...
I think JK Rowling has reacted in a very reactionary way and just keeps digging a hole for herself.
I don’t think this is easy thing to do; but I always imagined if I did ever publish any of my stories and they became as big as hers. And then people pointed out problems, I hope that I will be able to be like - I thought of the problems I was aware of at the time and I’m glad you found fault in ways I never considered before. I hope you can still appreciate my work, but when you write your own story - do better than me.
Take what you saw as a problem and address it and make it so it doesn’t exist for the next great series.
I don’t think that’s an easy thing to do, especially if you feel like you’re being unfairly attacked (not saying she was or wasn’t), but I can see why she would feel like that.
I don’t know.
Will and Grace can feel very reductive nowadays, but it was such a big and radical thing at the time. Showing gay people as people. As main characters. Yes, there are a lot of jokes with Jack and how he acts, but also - him being gay, is and isn’t the joke.
Because Will being gay or being attracted to men, is no more the joke then when Grace is attracted to a guy and wants to date one.
The creator of the show has talked about how one of the ways they got the show to be aired and so well-liked, was because, despite Will being gay, there was a desire for many, for him and Grace to end up together.
the man basically straight-baited people before queer-baiting became a popular term. Kudos to him.
But that’s what he had to do, to get a tv show where they had the radical opinion that gay people were people, and worthy of being the main character and not the butt of the joke or the story for the straight person to learn about themselves.
At the end of the day, it’s basic human nature to want to protect yourself. See yourself as the hero or victim, never the villain.
I think it’s an admirable skill to be able look at oneself and seriously ask - am I in the wrong? Am I the one with the hateful view?
And look, I don’t think people ever think of themselves as the one who has the hateful or wrong view even when they know it is a hateful thing.
In a weird and very fucked up way and I shouldn’t write this, kudos (But not actually) to the people who are openly hateful instead of pretending they’re not. I guess?
Am I praising outright bigoted people, for just being honest about being bigoted?
Is that where this post landed. That can’t be right.
Don’t be bigoted.
You’re not a good person because you’re honest about being a hateful person; but at the very fucking least (and I’m scrapping the bottom of the barrel here, for like an ounce of gunk that can be seen as a good thing) at the very fucking least - you are self-aware enough to be open about that.
Why am do I keep praising people for being openly bigoted and not lying about it?
Why is that where I keep ending up.
I have a headache, I’ve barely eaten today, I’ve spent 5 hours actually getting real writing done and this was supposed to be a quick rant and I’m tired.
I seriously have lost my point. I’m not going to edit this or read it through.
I just… I don’t fucking know.
If you’ve read up this point, why? jesus christ why? I’m writing this am aware of what a mess this is at the moment I’m writing it.
My point is.
It’s not easy for anyone to admit when they’re wrong. Especially not to such a huge public audience and to be fair, to JK Rowling even if she had seriously admitted she was wrong and reflected on her actions - I don’t doubt that some people wouldn’t care. It wouldn’t have been enough for them.
However, just because some may have reacted like that, is not an excuse.
I think what JK Rowling is doing is very human, but that doesn’t mean it’s good in the slightest. basically, she’s digging in her heels and refusing to admit she’s wrong and the more she fights this, that harder it will be for her to admit she was wrong and the less likely she ever will.
The more we commit and fight back, the harder it is to stop and breathe and actually think let alone finally admit, we were the asshole, or the villain.
So, she’s going with it at this point. I don’t know how much of that is a choice, as in how much she’s aware that’s even what she’s doing. But the amount of disconnect she would have to have to apparently write the character that exists in her new novel which I have not read so I can’t say how much of a self-insert it really is and not what she’s done, is honestly frightening.
Look people can make mistakes and people can unfairly pile onto someone - look at how with think of Monica Lewinsky today.
I just...
It’s not easy to look at yourself and admit your wrong, but if being a good person was just about doing the easy thing of not doing bad or hurtful things, we would all be good people.
And JK Rowling isn’t even doing that. She isn’t even doing the bare minimum of not being an asshole.
I don’t know I’m disappointed. All my feelings for her, I feel disappointed in the end. I want to scream and shout, because I know JK Rowling is capable of looking at something and saying this isn’t right and we need to and can do fucking better.
But she refuses to do that anymore, because well - I don’t know, maybe just a certain amount of wealth, fame and praise fucks with your brain. You’re still you and you still think you’re a good person, and you thought yourself a good person when you were doing good things and so what has changed.
Have you changed?
Are you no longer a good person, or is the world wrong?
Sure, I wish she never had certain views in the first place.
But I honestly wish, she had stopped and thought - maybe I’m the one in the wrong. Maybe what I once thought of being radical or progressive things, aren’t anymore and while I shouldn’t get hated for having what were once considered radical or very progressive views for the time – or that I wasn’t even aware of problems being problems, because they were talked about in the sphere I existed in –
the fact that I still think that’s where the bar is, instead of realizing that’s become the norm - is a reflection on myself and how I need to grow and change.
Okay I’m going to cry, this was supposed to be a page and it’s …a million.
And I have such a headache and this was suppose to be like an obnoxiously long paragraph not this.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes 13-19
Tumblr media
“I am the universe itself!  You might even say that I am... The World?  Eh?  Sorry, it’s a little inside joke I have.  You probably wouldn’t get it.  Anyway, I’m gonna drop a big heavy thing on you now.”
Tumblr media
Okay, so this is the second half of the Universal Conflict Arc, which is basically about Hearts attacking different universes to gather energy for the “Universe Seed”, which will somehow help him kill all the gods, including Grand Zeno himself.  In Episode 12, Hearts’ group arrived in Universe 7 for a final showdown.  Either Goku’s group defeats him here, or he collects the last of the energy he needs.  I’m a little fuzzy on how that energy is being collected.  Is it the fighting itself that makes it possible?  Or does Hearts have some mean to passively drain the energy from a universe just by being there, and the fighting is to keep anyone from interfering with that?
Anyway, while Goku takes on Hearts, he tells him that he’s read Goku’s mind, and knows of his desire to fight strong opponents.  He then offers to satisfy his need, which might offer a clue as to how he got all these guys to join his team in the first place.  Kamin, Oren, and Cumber don’t seem to have much of an agenda, but Hearts can actually read their minds and discover their true goals, and offer it up.  Whether or not he can deliver is another matter, but just being able to know what someone wants is a powerful way to manipulate them.
Tumblr media
Hearts is generally pretty carefree in how he fights, as if he’s got nothing to fear, but Goku manages to get the drop on him with a Kamehameha, and that seems to make Hearts lose his cool for a moment.  It doesn’t actually hurt him, though.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, 17 and Piccolo are taking on Kamioren, and it looks like the Tuffle siblings have got them pinned down.  17 has to keep a force field up to protect themselves, but then it collapses under the assault, but then--
Tumblr media
Piccolo fires back with a Special Beam Cannon, which he had been charging up while 17 protected him.  Pretty smart teamwork from these two.  See, this series has its moments.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Vegeta and Trunks are busy with Zamasu. Trunks asks Zamasu why he would follow a mortal like Hearts after he tried to wipe out all mortals, but Zamasu refuses to explain himself.  Okay, a couple of things about Zamasu.
First, it’s kind of weird how he’s just back. Side stories like this aren’t afraid to bring out a movie villain or two, or to resurrect a dead villain without much explanation.  Trunks’ presence in this story is kind of weird enough as it is.  But Zamasu’s a unique case because he was erased by Grand Zeno.  And before that, he got chopped in half and exploded, so his indestructible essence was spread out across the entire multiverse... which was also erased by Grand Zeno.  I mean, that’s about as permanent as it gets with this franchise.
Of course, Jiren and Hit were also erased in Dragon Ball Super, only to be wished back when 17 made his wish on the Super Dragon Balls.  So maybe Hearts wished Zamasu back the same way?  Maybe Zamasu got revived by the same wish 17 made?   Like, he wished back all the erased universes, and didn’t realize this would also bring back the erased multiverse from Trunks’ timeline, which would revive Zamasu as well.  But then Zamasu would still need a body, right? And even if we handwave this, what happened to his eye?  Why isn’t the left side of his body distorted like it was before?  And why is he helping Hearts?
It raises a lot of questions, but Zamasu refuses to elaborate, which is the second thing I want to bring up.  In his original appearances, this guy never shut up.  He would explain his motivations to anyone.  Repeatedly.  He’d tell his victims, his enemies, mortals, gods, himself.  Hell, he’d monologue even when no one was listening.  Now, he’s this strong silent type, and I gotta say, this is a very refreshing take on the character.
This sort of exemplifies my gripe with bringing Frieza back in the 2010′s.  He’d been defeated and killed, and then he comes back and he basically hasn’t changed at all.  I think we’re only just beginning to see Frieza mature as a character, what with his scheming in the Broly movie, and his ten-year training stint in the Granolah arc.  He’s got a new outlook, so maybe it’ll lead to something interesting.
With SDBH Zamasu, we don’t get a lot of details, but it’s clear that he’s been profoundly affected by his defeat.  His goals and motives are the same, but getting deformed and bisected and exploded and disembodied and erased has changed his outlook.  Maybe he just doesn’t have the words to explain what he’s feeling.  Maybe he’s decided that working with allies like Hearts might be safer than trying to go it alone.  Maybe Hearts told him exactly what he wanted to hear, and Zamasu’s too in love with himself to notice that Hearts is just repeating his own thoughts back to him.  Wait, did I just start shipping these two?  Hmm.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Hearts starts doing that gravity shit to Goku and basically ragdolls him.  I don’t get why he doesn’t just use this all the time, since it basically shuts down his opponents 100% of the time.  Maybe there’s a cooldown for the technique?
Tumblr media
Then he notices Kamioren struggling with 17 and Piccolo and decides to give them more power by combining them with the Universe Seed.  This seems like an extreme solution to the problem.  Couldn’t he just beat up 17 and Piccolo for Kamioren?
Tumblr media
So I thought this big crystal thing was the bad guys’ spaceship, but this is what Hearts puts inside a cube, shrinks, and then sends into Kamioren’s body, so I guess it’s the Universe seed.
Tumblr media
And once the transfer is complete, Kamioren gets huger and dumber.  They can still talk and everything, but their fighting gets really sloppy.  Fortunately for them, they’re so powerful now that they can afford to brute force their way through this.  The rest of the good guys drop what they’re doing to support Piccolo and 17, which seems kind of screwy, since Zamasu and Hearts were pretty major league threats already.
Tumblr media
Kamioren clobbers everyone, but then Goku taps into Ultra Instinct again and turns the tide.   He wears himself out in the process, and the others have to help him, but he manages to smash that red thing in the center of Kamioren’s chest, which kills them, apparently.
Tumblr media
But that doesn’t destroy the Universe Seed.  Instead, it flies back to Hearts, and he declares that it’s finally complete.
Tumblr media
Hearts does some stuff, and it turns into a big gold cube with green balls around it.  While he’s messing with that, Zamasu fights the rest to buy him time.
Tumblr media
Here, Zamasu finally starts to show off the power he had in the DBS arc.  I mean, he wasn’t just indestructible, he was damn near unbeatable in this form, so it seemed weird how he just sort of horsed around with Vegeta and Trunks for so long a little while ago.  As he dominates the U7 guys, he finally explains that Hearts’ goals tie into his own.  Once Hearts succeeds in killing Grand Zeno, there will be no one to stop Zamasu from carrying out his Zero Mortals Plan.  Which... kind of makes sense, except that between their two plans, there wouldn’t be anyone left at the end, so one of them must be planning to turn on the other, right?
Tumblr media
Jiren and Hit show up to reinforce the good guys.  Their respective Supreme Kais sent them, but it doesn’t do any good, since Hearts finishes his transformation while they fight Zamasu.
Tumblr media
So now he’s glowing yellow all over, and he has six spikes coming out of his back like Omega Shenron.  The first thing he does is turn on Zamasu, because even though he’s grateful for Zamasu’s help, Hearts wants to kill all the gods, and that includes Zamasu.
Tumblr media
I’m not clear on how he kills him, though. We see him immobilize Zamasu and then trap him in a cube, but what does that actually mean?  And even if this is a lethal attack, Zamasu’ indestructible, remember?  Did Hearts take that into account?  Maybe that’s why he recruited Zamasu.  He needed a god to test his powers on once he got this far, and Zamasu’s overzealousness makes him gullible enough to walk right into this.
Tumblr media
Whatever he did to Zamasu, it gets the attention of the Grand Minister, all the way from Zeno’s palace.  Is he actually concerned about this?  Can Hearts actually kill Grand Zeno with this new power?
Tumblr media
Well, he makes quick work of the good guys, but that’s hardly the same thing.  As they fight, Goku convinces Vegeta to do the Fusion Dance, since Goku can’t predict when he’ll tap into Ultra Instinct again, or how long it’ll last.  Gogeta might be their only chance.
Tumblr media
And a lot of screentime is spent on this moment.  That’s probably because the Broly movie had come out by this time, and Gogeta Blue was the hot thing, so Toei wanted to use it here.  Fair enough, except we’ve already seen Vegito Blue and SSJ4 Vegito in this same series, so it makes this fusion feel less special.
Anyway, Gogeta takes it to Hearts, and Hearts is genuinely impressed by his power.  He even says that Gogeta is strong enough to kill Grand Zeno, so he proposes that they team up and wipe out all the gods together to free themselves.  Gogeta doesn’t understand, and Hearts is amused that someone as powerful as Gogeta fails to recognize his lack of choice.
Tumblr media
So Hearts uses his gravity powers to hurl a big meteor down from space.  He doesn’t say “Road Roller”, but I’m sure he was thinking it.   Gogeta has some trouble pushing it back, but then Jiren and Hit join in to help.
Tumblr media
And Gogeta gets an opening to punch a hole in Hearts, which defeats him for good.  Hooray!
Tumblr media
“KONO DIO HEARTS DA!”
Tumblr media
As Hearts’ body disintegrates, he finally explains that he wanted to destroy the gods because Grand Zeno can erase whole universes on a whim, and he wanted to liberate mortals from that predicament.  But then Goku and the others pushed past their limitations, and this reaffirms why Hearts loved mortals so much in the first place.  So he seems pretty happy despite his failure.
Tumblr media
From Zeno’s palace, the Grand Minister congratulates the good guys for their victory.  I don’t think they can hear him, but the point is that he was monitoring the battle.  Was Hearts actually a threat? Could he have truly killed Grand Zeno as he claimed?
Tumblr media
All we really know for sure is that the Zenos have been playing hide-and-seek with the Gods of Destruction from all twelve universes, so they’ve all be unaware of what’s been going on.  The Grand Minister seems more relieved that Goku managed to solve the crisis without anyone disrupting the Zenos’ playtime.
At the beginning of the story, Fuwa, the U6 Supreme Kai, said that he couldn’t reach any of the Destroyers when the conflict started, and I guess that’s because they were all summoned to Grand Zeno’s Palace.  So I don’t know if Hearts saw this as an opportunity to strike, or it just worked out that way.  But my interpretation is that if Hearts had gotten his way, the best he would have managed was to irritate Zeno enough that he might have erased Hearts along with whatever universe he might have been standing in at the time.
Tumblr media
But it’s all over now, so it doesn’t really matter. Jiren asks Gogeta why Goku and Vegeta didn’t use fusion during the Tournament of Power, and Gogeta defuses on the spot.  Vegeta explains that he hates using Fusion, but here they had no choice.
Tumblr media
From his lab, Fu observes the outcome of this battle and seems quite satisfied with it all.  Apparently he wanted Hearts to complete the Universe Seed, but he didn’t care if Hearts won in the end.  Fu now turns his attention to his next experiment, whatever that is...
And that’s the end of the Universal Conflict arc.  To sum it all up, I think there’s a lot of great action in this thing, but it’s had to take the plot seriously when the villain seems completely unconcerned with everything that happens.  His henchmen defy him and he seems totally at ease with it.  He loses a fight and he dies with a smile.  And his plan was to assassinate God, which is kind of hard to take seriously.  Was anyone watching this seriously worried that Hearts might succeed?  I mean, Zeno can erase things just by thinking about it.  Hearts could vanish before he even knew he was under attack.
Also, you have Fu in the background, basically making Hearts look like a pawn in a larger game.  That might work for the series as a whole, but it makes this section of the story kind of tedious, as Hearts is nothing more than a means to an end.  Also, how do Cumber and Cooler fit into all of this?
Hearts’ team was kind of interesting, but it seems like a waste now.  Lagss defeated Ultra Instinct Goku, but then she just... left and never came back. Eyepatch Zamasu and Kamin and Oren had some appeal, but they’re dead now.  Hearts will return, from what I understand, but I’m not sure where the character could possibly go from here.  I guess we’ll see...
